All of May is actually Mental Health Awareness Month and on the psychology of your 20s, we are taking a vulnerable look at why mental health is so hard to talk about. Prepare for
Starting point is 00:01:29 our conversations to go deep. I spent the majority of my teenage years, my 20s just feeling absolutely terrified. I had a panic attack on a conference call. Knowing that she had six months to live, I was no longer pretending that this was my best friend. So this Mental Health Awareness Month, take that extra bit of care of your wellbeing. Listen to the psychology of your 20s on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts,
Starting point is 00:01:50 or wherever you get your podcasts. My husband has a secret son from a past partner. Hold up, Sam, how do we know how we've done the DNA test? Well, John, luckily it's Mother May I Have a DNA Test Week on the OK Storytime podcast, so we'll find out soon. And this wife writes, my husband received a Facebook message from a woman saying that he is the father
Starting point is 00:02:07 of a five-year-old. Whoa! At first, he didn't remember her, but then he realized they had a one-night stand right before we started dating. Wait, but do we have proof he's the dad? To hear the explosive finale, listen to the OK Storytime podcast
Starting point is 00:02:18 on the iHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. First date follow-up. Powered by the advocates, injury attorneys online at advocateslaw.com. Kane is on the phone today for a first day of follow up and he's getting ghosted by Leah. So in a few minutes we'll call her and see if she'll tell us why she's ghosting him and maybe get him a second date. But first Kane, how long has it been since you heard from Leah? Uh, if I remember, I want to say it's been about a week or two.
Starting point is 00:02:45 A week or two. How many times have you reached out to her? That'll kind of help too. I reached out last, I think about two days ago, but I've probably reached out about two, three times. Okay, let's talk about the date. How did you guys meet? How was it? Well, we met through a mutual friend. And I mean, at least from my perspective, I thought
Starting point is 00:03:05 it was a pretty good time. We got burgers and fries at this super chill retro diner and honestly, it was nothing fancy. It was just nice and easy vibes. She picked it, which I liked. I mean, I love a woman who can commit to a greasy spoon. Yeah, fair. Okay. Yeah. I mean, I think we had great conversation. And at least like I said, I swear, I thought we were vibing.
Starting point is 00:03:36 We talked about how we both love the color orange, which at least to my understanding is not a common favorite color. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, and at the end of the day She even let me eat her pickle, which I thought was really Everybody needs a friend who doesn't like their pickle. Did you guys kiss or anything after the date? No, we did that little, you know, thanks for the night hug, kind of side hug at the end of the night.
Starting point is 00:04:16 But other than that, no, not much more physically. How did it end? Did she sound like she was ready for another date after that one? I mean, I didn't really get like one way or the other. It just kind of seemed like a pretty casual Ending you know not positive negative. Is there anything that could have gone wrong on the day? I mean Nothing that's really coming to mind honestly now nothing at all
Starting point is 00:04:43 I mean my family works in politics. I brought that up pretty early. I know some people can be a little weirded out by that. Okay. Yeah. I mean, politics are always dicey, especially on a first date. Did you talk about your family's politics on that date too, or you just mentioned that that's what they do?
Starting point is 00:05:03 I mean, I was trying to do as little as possible, but she did keep asking questions despite the briefness of my answers Maybe maybe yeah, they work in politics. So when she asked about them, what do they do? It's kind of hard to Totally. Yeah, did she tell you hers or was she just asking questions? No, just asking questions. I'm not even sure where she stands, honestly. Okay. Well, we'll see if we can figure it out for you. We'll play a song, come back, and then call her and see if she'll tell us why she's ghosting you
Starting point is 00:05:33 and maybe get you a second date, all right? Sounds good. All right, we'll get your first date follow-up next. Yo, K-Pop fans, it's your boy, BOMHAN, and I'm bringing you something epic. Introducing the K-Factor, the podcast that takes you straight into the heart of K-pop. We're talking music reviews, exclusive interviews, and deep dives into the industry like never before.
Starting point is 00:05:55 From producers and choreographers to idols and trainees, we're bringing you the real stories behind the music that you love. And yeah, we're keeping it 100, discussing everything from comebacks and concepts to the mental health side of the business. Because K-pop isn't just a genre, it's a whole world, and we're exploring every corner of it. And here's the best part, fans get to call in, drop opinions, and even join us live at events.
Starting point is 00:06:21 You never know where we might pop up next. So listen to the K-Factor on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. This isn't just a podcast, it's a movement. Are you ready? Let's go. I found out I was related to the guy that I was dating. I don't feel emotions correctly. I am talking to a felon right now and I cannot decide if I like him or not. Those were some callers from my call-in podcast, Therapy Gecko.
Starting point is 00:06:51 It's a show where I take real phone calls from anonymous strangers all over the world as a fake gecko therapist and try to dig into their brains and learn a little bit about their lives. I know that's a weird concept, but I promise it's pretty interesting if you give it a shot. Matter of fact, here's a few more examples
Starting point is 00:07:10 of the kinds of calls we get on this show. I live with my boyfriend and I found his pizjar in our apartment. I collect my roommates' toenails and fingernails. I have very overbearing parents. Even at the age of 29, they won't let me move out of their house. So if you want an excuse to get out of your own head
Starting point is 00:07:28 and see what's going on in someone else's head, search for Therapy Gecko on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. It's the one with the green guy on it. Hey, my name's Jay Shetty, and I'm the host of On Purpose. And I'm excited for my next episode with Khloe Kardashian God I've been through so many things that at this point I would rather not feel than feel because feeling is too much for me to handle
Starting point is 00:07:56 All right, we're ready. I am Khloe Kardashian Khloe Kardashian everybody Khloe Kardashian No one understands how it's I'm not just a TV show. There would be times that I was like, I don't even want to go out to the grocery store because I feel like I know what they're thinking about me. And that was scary to me
Starting point is 00:08:16 because I've never been in a dark place for that long. You've always taken care of others. Have you discovered anything about why you've seen yourself take on that role in so many relationships in your life? How do you even find the courage to trust again? Listen to On Purpose with Jay Shetty on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. My husband has a secret son from a past partner. Hold up Sam, how do we know how we've done the DNA test? Well John, luckily it's Mother May I Have a DNA Test Week
Starting point is 00:08:48 on the OK Storytime podcast, so we'll find out soon. And this wife writes, my husband received a Facebook message from a woman saying that he is the father of a five year old. Whoa! At first he didn't remember her, but then he realized they had a one night stand right before we started dating.
Starting point is 00:09:01 Wait, but do we have proof he's a dad? Well the author says there's no confirmation the kid is even his son, but the woman from Facebook has a meeting with her lawyer soon. I think she's going after our money. If the kid is actually my husband's, she would be entitled to it too.
Starting point is 00:09:15 So what's a husband gotta say about this? This could be his kid. Well, apparently he broke down in the middle of the living room apologizing, but this is what scared me. His first instinct, if the kid is his son, is to pay the child support, but not be an active father in the kid's life
Starting point is 00:09:30 because he only wants a family with me, his wife. Oh, this is a mess. To hear the explosive finale, follow OK Storytime on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. First date of follow-up. Powered by the Advocates Injury Attorneys. Online at AdvocatesLaw.com. Right in the middle of your first date of follow up powered by the advocates injury attorneys online at advocateslaw.com Right in the middle of your first date of follow up if you're just joining us, Kane
Starting point is 00:09:49 is on the phone and he's getting ghosted by Leah so we're about to call her and see if she'll tell us why she's ghosting him. But first Kane, why don't you remind us about your date real quick. Yeah, sure. No worries. So, you know, basically we got the burgers and fries at this nice chill retro diner and. You know, we had some great conversations. We've talked about some common interests and you know, just kind of ended like naturally.
Starting point is 00:10:14 All right, and you really don't have any idea why you're getting ghosted, huh? Other than my political parents, nothing I could really think of. Okay, my political parents. Sounds like a sitcom. It does. All right, you ready for us to call her? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:10:30 Okay, here we go. (*phone ringing*) Hello? Hi, may I speak to Leah, please? This is Leah. Hey, Leah, how are you? This is the Jubal Show. It's a radio show. Hi to Leah please? This is Leah. Hey Leah, how are you? This is the Jubal show. It's a radio show. Hi Leah, my name is Nina.
Starting point is 00:10:49 Hi, I'm Victoria. And my name is Jubal. How are you? Hi, I'm good. How are you? Great. Thank you for asking. Have you ever listened to the show before?
Starting point is 00:10:58 Yes, I have. Have you ever heard of first aid follow up? I have. Yes. Have you ever heard a first date follow-up? Yeah, so you know that's the segment where if you go somebody they can email us to get you on the phone and ask Why you're being ghosted? Yeah Well, guess what we have somebody emailed us about you Are you ghosting girl? This is about Kane isn't it? It has to be Kane. Yes it is about Kane. Kane emailed us we talked to him a little bit about your date he said he
Starting point is 00:11:29 thought you guys really hit it off and he has no idea why you're not calling him back and it's been like two weeks. So he's a Virgo and I just I can't do it. What? I mean I mean, okay That's not the only reason but it was the first red flag But I'm a Gemini and that combo is just like a cosmic disaster We're just wider differently like he's very grounded and analytical. I'm like flowy and talkative He likes structure. I like chaos I knew it wasn't going to work when he started stacking the sugar packets by height at the
Starting point is 00:12:08 table. So like the Virgo thing was the first red flag. Then it was the stacking of the sugar packets. Then he put mustard on his French fries and not ketchup, not ranch, yellow mustard. And he didn't even explain it. He just casually dipped it like it was normal That bothers you Yeah, I tried to look past the Virgo thing but the mustard was the universe telling me run and I trust fine So the mustard really put it over the top
Starting point is 00:12:38 Yes That was a kind of the final straw Okay, what do they say about people that eat mustard on their french fries? Ew. Great. Okay. And that's it. Like everything. What about, you know, just his personality? Was it cool other than him being a Virgo and dipping his french fries in mustard? Yeah. I mean, we could be friends. I just don't see like with all those things. I just listed there being like a romantic connection We're just wired differently. Were you attracted to him? I mean he's an attractive
Starting point is 00:13:12 Person I just don't think he's like my person Thank you for being honest with us. I appreciate that Thank you, and Leah Kane is actually on the phone listening Leah, Kane is actually on the phone listening. Oh my God. Of course you're on the phone. What would you say to that Kane? Um, hi Leah. So it wasn't the political parents.
Starting point is 00:13:34 It was mustard and star signs that did me in. Kane, you're great. You're really, really great, but it's like the Virgo Gemini dynamic. You'd spend our whole relationship with reorganizing my spice cabinet while I'm trying to plan like a spontaneous trip to Tulum. That sounds kind of balanced to me. I bring snacks and an identity and you bring chaos and a passport. Aren't you getting ahead of yourself though?
Starting point is 00:14:04 Like don't you need to know if like, cause I feel like you're planning right now, Leah, for the future to be so unstable before you even know it. I don't know. Like he brings mustard to fries and he brings secretive energy. Secretive energy. I mean the way I was raised, it's not secretive. It's respectful. I didn't want to bore you with political drama on a first date.
Starting point is 00:14:29 I like the thing that's called emotional intelligence. That's called Virgo energy. You're always trying to like control the flow. And you're a Gemini talking in metaphors and checking costar mid combo. Because it worked! Checking what mid-convo? What is CoStar? It's an app, I used to have it.
Starting point is 00:14:49 It's an astrological app. Did you do that, Leah? Did you check your astrology? Yeah, of course. Why wouldn't I? Yeah, we were literally talking about a second date when she pulled out her phone and started changing the conversation to tomorrow's horoscopes. Ugh. when she pulled out her phone and started changing the conversation to tomorrow's horoscopes.
Starting point is 00:15:05 So just to recap, you're literally ghosting me over horoscopes and condiments. If I wouldn't have checked it, I wouldn't have known. Of course I'm going to check it. It also shows me like both of our charts and like the compatibility and everything. It's very thorough. Leah, do you use charts for everything in your life or just dating? Pretty much everything, yeah. Is it usually right? Yeah, very right. I mean, it's thousands of years old for a reason.
Starting point is 00:15:36 And this is the same person who says, I'm too organized. And there you go. It's that Virgo energy again. I mean, I got to be honest with you guys, I barely even know my horoscope. I don't even know what that means. It's also not really a horoscope. It's a birth chart. Well, it's kind of like we're talking. We'll just talk. We're talking to different languages and like, hey,
Starting point is 00:15:57 I'm so sorry you're attractive and you're kind, but I need someone who won't judge me for like talking to my clients. And I really think you will. Wait, wait, wait, wait. You talk to your plants? Any green thumb knows that you need to talk to your plants to get them to grow. And when you talk to your plants, do you hear responses? Well, it's obviously not like a human response, but it's an energy.
Starting point is 00:16:25 Yeah. How do you feel about that, Kane? I mean, I thought the horoscopes was a little off putting, but now we have mother nature here speaking to plants. I don't even know where to go with that. I mean, I'll give you a second chance. You can meet my fern and I can see what kind of energy it gives me after and then I'll know for sure. All right. His fern code. Leah see what kind of energy it gives me after and then I'll know for sure All right
Starting point is 00:16:46 Leah would you like another date with Kane? We'll pay for it. I Mean we can try I I Do feel like he's going to be more compatible with like a grounded tourist who appreciates mustard and like bullet point plans But worst-case scenario we end up being friends, you know, but I have no problem like seeing how my plants interact with him. Oh, okay. Kane. That's great news.
Starting point is 00:17:11 Kane second date. I mean, I would consider it. I have to ask though. Does the fern have a name? Yeah. Miguel. Oh, okay. What do you think, Kane?
Starting point is 00:17:24 Give it another shot and meet Miguel the Fern gotta do it? Yeah, I don't know you guys we that might be too much for me as you said like I'm too much of a Virgo for this I wish you and Miguel the best Okay, yeah, I know this is what I said from the start, but you know Kane no ill will if I ever see you in the streets I'll definitely say hi. Like, it's not your fault, you're a Virgo. Please. All right.
Starting point is 00:17:49 Okay. Well, good luck, guys. Okay. Jubal's first date follow-up. I found out I was related to the guy that I was dating. I don't feel emotions correctly. I collect my roommates' toenails and fingernails. Those were some callers from my call-in podcast,
