Listen to Good Company on the iHeartRadio app, Apple podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. First date follow up powered by the advocates injury attorneys online at advocateslaw.com. Taylor is on the show today for a first date follow up and she's getting ghosted by a guy named Jake. So in a few minutes we'll call him and see if he'll tell us why he's ghosting her and maybe get her another date. But first Taylor, how long has it been since you talked to Jake?
Starting point is 00:02:44 Hi, it's been six days. Yeah. Oh, OK. That's not terrible. Almost a week. It felt like forever, though. I'm like freaking out. I've been freaking out. Yeah, it's the worst feeling. How many times have you tried to reach out to him?
Starting point is 00:02:59 I haven't like reached out to him. I'm just waiting to hear back. Did he tell you that he was going gonna hit you up after the date? Oh yeah, we had planned for a whole date and everything. Oh. But then after the date, our first date, you know, it's been radio silence. Okay.
Starting point is 00:03:18 I feel so stupid, it makes me feel so stupid. No, you're not stupid. Yeah, that's not your fault. You know, unfortunately it happens, but we'll see if we can figure out why. We don't know, it's not your fault that happened. You know, unfortunately it happens, but we'll see if we can figure out why. We don't know it's not your fault, but we'll figure it out. Tell us about the date. Well, so we actually met at a mutual friend's birthday party.
Starting point is 00:03:36 And just from that, like that wasn't our first date, but that whole night, I mean, I spent the entire night talking to him. I barely even said happy birthday to my friend. But we were just in the kitchen, like making stupid jokes. And that kind of led to us talking the entire night. And I just had a really great time with him then. And I haven't really felt that in a long time. And so we, we planned a date and then we got ramen and we walked around the park and it was like exactly like the moment that we met. It was just like just I don't know sparks. I guess I don't it sounds so strange to say that. No people have chemistry. It's real. I mean we were just laughing is the thing. I don't know. It's like, I felt like immediately
Starting point is 00:04:26 I could be so silly and stupid with him and everything felt very comfortable and natural right from the start. I don't know. It's like, I mean, he's just really, I mean, he's also very cute. So like that doesn't hurt, you know, but it's not even about like looks or anything. It was just this feeling of, of comfort and being silly. And I'm such a silly, stupid person and I love being silly and stupid. And I feel like so often when I'm talking to guys, it's like they're, I don't know, they're expecting me to be a certain way. And I didn't feel like that with Jake at all.
Starting point is 00:05:03 And he is very funny too. And I was one that like makes with Jake at all. And he's very funny too. And I was the one that like makes me laugh. And I'm just, I was laughing so much. I was just laughing the whole time. I mean, by the end of the first date, we already have so many inside jokes. And you know, when you find that, I'm just like, I don't get that often. No, totally.
Starting point is 00:05:20 But what do you think could have gone wrong? Okay. So I do think it is my fault actually and I feel like it's the I mean, I'm a clumsy person, but this is like the worst thing that I've ever done I think it's very embarrassing. Um, so you know that you know when you like check in with your best friend in the middle of The date and you just give them like, you know the when you like check in with your best friend in the middle of the date and you just give them like the, you know, the text, it's like, okay, uh, we're your vibes are good or whatever, whatever. So, so actually I, uh, I did send that text to him instead of him. Oh, what did it say?
Starting point is 00:06:03 Let me just read it to you. Okay. So he said, I said, he's cute, but if he says vibes unironically one more time, I might come bust. Oh. That was kind of a joke. It was kind of a joke because it was actually,
Starting point is 00:06:20 I was gonna tell her later that that was actually like an inside joke between like me and Jake, that were, cause we were talking like we were being like bros and I don't know, we were just pretending to be bros and doing all this stuff. And so it was kind of a funny thing to me that I was just going to tell her about later. And then, uh, yeah, I sent that to him and then reading it back. I'm like, Oh, that actually sounds like I actually I'm making a dig at him or something.
Starting point is 00:06:49 And that's not all what it was. Oh, my God. But yeah, so I sent that to him. What did he say when he got it? Like, did he call you out? Like, did you just make a message or I didn't know? I he didn't see it because like I sent it while we were still on a date. And so, I mean, he's such a sweetheart. Like, he didn't even look at his phone the entire date so he didn't even see it until
Starting point is 00:07:08 after we had already parted ways and I don't know like the date ended so well we kissed and we yeah we made that plan to meet again and then after after the date that's when I saw that I had sent it oh my, I'd be freaking out right now too. Well, oh no. We'll see if that is the reason. We'll play a song, come back, and then call him and see if he'll tell us why he's ghosting you and maybe get you a second date, okay?
Starting point is 00:07:36 Okay, thank you, guys. All right, your first day of follow-up is next. So in the last month, the Midas Touch Network beat Rogan, Tucker Carlson, Candace Owens, Charlie Kirk, and Ben Shapiro, all combined. Conservative podcasts can have a major political impact, but the Mycelis brothers, three siblings with a serious media strategy, are building an alternative to that. On the latest episode of Next Question with Katie Couric, I sat down with the brothers
Starting point is 00:08:03 behind the Midas Touch Network to talk about how they built a progressive media powerhouse from the ground up, why audience interaction is the key to political influence, and what it takes to fight disinformation at scale, one download at a time. We should be focusing on the issues that actually occupy a lot of the mental space in Americans' minds, but are filled with conspiracies, and we should fill it with the truth and solutions. Listen to Next Question with me, Katie Couric, on the iHeart radio app, Apple podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:08:39 Yo, K-pop fans, it's your boy, Bom Han, and I'm bringing you something epic. Introducing the K Factor. The podcast that takes you straight into the heart of K-pop. We're talking music reviews, exclusive interviews, and deep dives into the industry like never before. From producers and choreographers to idols and trainees, we're bringing you the real stories behind the music that you love.
Starting point is 00:09:01 And yeah, we're keeping it a 100, discussing everything from comebacks and concepts to the mental health side of the business. Because K-pop isn't just a genre, it's a whole world. And we're exploring every corner of it. And here's the best part, fans get to call in, drop opinions, and even join us live at events. You never know where we might pop up next. So listen to the K Factor on
Starting point is 00:09:25 the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. This isn't just a podcast, it's a movement. Are you ready? Let's go. I have a question for you and I want you to be honest with me. How are you? It's a really hard question to ask. It's a harder one to answer, but taking care of our mental well-being has never been more important. All of May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and on the Psychology of Your 20s podcast, we are taking a vulnerable look at why mental health is
Starting point is 00:10:00 so hard to talk about and all the science and psychology behind some of life's hardest moments and transitions. Prepare for our conversations to go deep. Everything from grief to heartbreak, career burnout, anxiety, all of the things that you would only talk about with your closest friends. I spent the majority of my teenage years and my twenties just feeling absolutely terrified. I had a panic attack on a conference call. Knowing that she had six months to live, I was no longer pretending Vlukya and I am the host of a Really Good Cry podcast. And I had the opportunity to talk to Davy Brown.
Starting point is 00:10:50 Davy Brown is one of the most sought after wellness educators and through her signature blend of advanced meditation, breathwork, metaphysical physiology, spiritual psychology and holistic trauma informed facilitation. Davy has touched the lives of countless students, including renowned artists, athletes and executives of global corporations. But anything can be used as a tool of avoidance with women, any kind of thing where there might be this underlying edge of self-sacrifice as martyrdom. If you're never feeling, you're telling yourself a story
Starting point is 00:11:27 and you're actually avoiding what you should be doing. Your life at the end of it is still gonna be a sum of your experiences. And so you gotta get in, you gotta get your hands dirty. Listen to A Really Good Cry on the iHeartRadio app, Apple podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. First date follow-up. Powered by the advocates injury attorneys online at advocateslaw.com. Right in the middle of your first date of follow up.
Starting point is 00:11:52 And if you're just joining us, Taylor is on the phone and she's getting ghosted by a guy named Jake. So we're about to call him and see if he'll tell us why he's ghosting her and maybe get her a second date. But first, Taylor, why don't you recap your situation for us real quick? Okay, yeah, well six days ago, I went on a date with a really cute guy that I really like a lot, and he made me laugh so much, which never happens, but during the date, I had sent a text
Starting point is 00:12:16 that I meant to send to my best friend. I accidentally sent that to him, and the text may have seemed like a dig at him and it was supposed to be a joke and he wasn't ever supposed to see it. I think that um he may have taken it. I feel that second hand anxiety for you. Yeah. Well it's real. I know. We'll see if we go. Hello. Hi, may I speak to Jake, please? Yeah. This is Jake. Jake.
Starting point is 00:12:48 Hey, how are you doing? This is the Jubel Show. It's a radio show. What's up, Jake? My name is Nina. Hi, I'm Victoria. I'm Jubel. How are you?
Starting point is 00:12:56 Good. Good. How are you guys? Good. Do you listen to the show? Yeah. I'm a little bit of a fan of the show. I'm a little bit of a fan of the show.
Starting point is 00:13:04 I'm a little bit of a fan of the show. I'm a little bit of a fan of the show. I'm a little bit of a fan of the show. I'm a little bit of a fan of the show. I'm a little bit of a fan of radio show. What's up, Jake? My name's Nina. Hi, I'm Victoria. I'm Jubal. How are you? Good, good. How are you guys? Good. Do you listen to the show? I don't, I don't listen. No, not actively. All right.
Starting point is 00:13:14 Well, no worries. The reason we're calling you today is because of a segment that we do do on the show. You said do do. Sorry about that. Wow, both of you, are you experienced? You should really listen because that's the high caliber kind of stuff
Starting point is 00:13:26 you get on the show, you know? That was really funny to me. But it was funny to me too. Why? Because doo-doo Victoria, anyway. Oh my gosh. Jake, I'm sorry. We do a segment on the show called the first date follow up.
Starting point is 00:13:40 That's where if you go on a date with somebody and then you end up ghosting them, that person can email us And get you on the phone to ask you why you're ghosting. So we got an email about you from somebody Yeah This is that Taylor is it Taylor? Yes, it is Taylor. You knew that fast. Yeah, do you have a few minutes to talk to us about it and tell us why you're ghosting 100% totally I'd love to
Starting point is 00:14:07 about it and tell us why you're ghosting? 100% totally I'd love to. Okay. Hey now this makes it even worse um I she was she was fantastic she you know she's amazing she's she's she's gorgeous I don't know I met her not too long ago at a birthday party it was just like you know we just like we just hit it I don't know you all know how I don't know you meet somebody and it's just like yeah this makes sense It's like flows really well and it was great. Um, and I mean, she did, she, she, she texted me this thing about about vibes and combusting, which I don't think that was, I thought it was so funny. Um, I just didn't reply. I, um, it's kind of really stupid.
Starting point is 00:14:43 Um, so my roommate got a VR headset, you know, you put them on, you know, like go into, you can play games and like, oh, those are fun. That's cool. Yeah. So they're crazy, but like, and I've never used it before. So I kind of got like really, really addicted to virtual reality ping pong. And I've been going crazy in it. And I stood too close to the corner of this wall and fractured my wrist as I was
Starting point is 00:15:12 playing. Oh, you fractured your wrist playing VR. Okay. I'm sorry. You shouldn't laugh at that. That hurts. No, it's okay. I mean, it's stupid.
Starting point is 00:15:23 I feel so stupid about it. And now like, because I fractured it, I like, it's okay. I mean, it's stupid. I feel so stupid about it. And now like, because I fractured it, I like, it hurts to hold my phone, like my phone sitting on my desk right now and I'm just speaking into it. I can't type, I can't text, I can't, I can't play virtual reality ping pong. I can't do anything.
Starting point is 00:15:39 So, and- Oh, yeah. Okay. Well, it's just tough. It's like, I'm trying to, I'm trying to verbalize my text, you know, and like speak them out so that Siri picks them up. It comes out like, vibes are snorting and Brahman's destiny. And like, it doesn't make sense. Okay.
Starting point is 00:15:56 So because you hurt your wrist, you can't communicate with people. I just can't feel dumb. Okay. Honestly. Okay. That's why you're ghosting? I just can't feel dumb. Okay. Honestly. Okay. That's why you're ghosting? A little bit because like I don't know how to, it's frustrating when I can't text and
Starting point is 00:16:10 then I don't know how to be like, Hey, uh, I haven't talked to you because I broke my wrist playing virtual reality ping pong. I wasn't even hitting anything. But whoa. Oh, well if you guys hit it off like you think you did, I don't know that she'd think it was dumb. Maybe she thinks it's cute. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:16:26 I guess maybe. I didn't really think about that. Wait, can I say something? Can I say something? Yes, you can. Hey, Jake, that's Taylor. She's been on the phone listening. Hello.
Starting point is 00:16:37 Wait, what? Yeah. She knows now. Taylor? You're here. Yeah. Oh my gosh, oh my gosh. Like I just, I thought I totally humiliated myself.
Starting point is 00:16:48 I've been spiraling for the past six days, but you, you've got a VR ping pong wrist injury? What? Yeah. That's what this is all about? Yeah, kinda. I'm so sorry. No, I mean like that's so random and adorable, but also, like, it's been six days and I thought that you hated me with that.
Starting point is 00:17:14 I'm trying to be mad at him right now. I don't hate you. I literally, I could never hate you. I doubt I was like really happy that, that we met and beating myself up that I feel like I can't just like being adult and just do the adult thing and tell you I broke my wrist playing ping pong. VR ping pong. Oh, I was like, I was like would play VR ping pong with you, Jake. I'd play that with me, you know, once, once your wrist feels. I mean, I can just swap to my left hand and then you can use your right.
Starting point is 00:17:56 Okay, you probably shouldn't say you can use your left hand. Otherwise she's going to get even more mad. You could have texted with your left hand. I can't. your left hand. I Can't I can't Take he's a very cute human Okay, well that's Jake would you like to go out on another date with Taylor we'll pay for it. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah for sure Okay, well Taylor, congratulations. Yay!
Starting point is 00:18:26 Thank you guys. I'm so happy right now. Oh my god, me too. You're gonna sleep good tonight. Jubal's first date follow-up.
