The Jubal
Show on demand.
First date follow-up.
Marshall is on the phone today for a first date
follow-up and he's not getting a call back
from a date he went on with Clara.
Bummer. Or Clara.
I don't know how you say it. What is it, Marshall? It's Clara. Marshall, tell us a little bit about your date with Clara. Summer. Or Clara. I don't know how you say it.
What is it, Marshall?
It's Clara.
Marshall, tell us a little bit about your date with Clara.
Before you get into that, though, how long has it been since your date?
It's been about two weeks.
Two weeks.
Okay.
And how many times have you tried to reach out to Clara in those two weeks?
Honestly, I probably reached out to her going on, well, calls, maybe about five text messages.
I admit, it's too much.
In two weeks?
I mean, yeah, that's kind of pushing it, but it's not.
I don't know if it's too crazy.
You know, 2020 hindsight, I think so.
But let me just disclaimer, I am super duper, like, interested in her.
Like, it's been a very long time since I felt, like, literally this eager to get to know more about someone and honestly, like, take it further.
Okay.
What did you like about her so much?
Well, first off, we really, like, hit it, hit it off.
But she was incredibly, like, down to earth. She's gorgeous. And, you know, it's she was incredibly like down to earth.
Um, she's gorgeous.
Um, and you know, it's kind of like the cherry on top.
I felt like she really like accepted me and all my quirks.
Um, okay. So tell us a little bit about the date.
The date.
Uh, yeah.
So we went axe throwing.
Um, first time, both of us.
So that was kind of like, you know, it was an awesome experience.
I lost, but, you know, that's okay.
She wasn't overzealous when she beat me.
She laughed a lot.
I made her laugh.
She made me laugh.
That's important.
Yeah, you know, she even kind of offered to pay for the food
like afterwards after you went out to go eat. But I was like, no, of course I got this shit.
Just like by and large, she, it was the most perfect date I've been on. There it is. I
was trying to find my word. It was perfect. So it was perfect. What do you think happened?
Why is she not calling you back then? Okay, well, okay, yes.
So when I said all my quirks, I am quirky.
I really am.
I don't know.
I mean, I felt like she was attracted to me,
but I am kind of, you know, tall and lanky.
And I don't know.
I fear that maybe that I'm not in her league,
and maybe that's why she ghosted me.
This is me throwing arrows in the dark, right?
Just trying to maybe pinpoint why she, you know,
might have ghosted me only because, like, we really did,
or at least I felt we really did hit it off in, like, a major way.
And so I'm just trying.
I'm lost. i don't know why
okay well you did say there was a lot of laughing on the date so i mean if you're quirky she could
have been laughing at you instead of with you but i feel like you might have known that but yeah
thanks thanks for that for uh that vote of confidence uh how quirky what do you what do
you mean by quirky like what is a quirk? What's something you say
is one of your quirks? Quirk's a fun word to say, by the way.
Okay.
I did mention
that I do
enjoy Dungeons
and Dragons, and I'm excited
to, even though I haven't played in a very
long time, but I'm excited to see
the upcoming movie that's coming out.
Yeah. And in a very long time, but I'm excited to see the upcoming movie that's coming out. Yeah, and I'm an avid reader.
Yeah, I like anime.
Okay.
And hopefully I don't want to say more, right, because I don't want to embarrass myself.
That's cool. Yeah, I mean, I think that'd be cool to go right? Because I don't want to embarrass myself. That's cool.
Yeah.
I mean, I think that'd be cool to go out with someone who has interests like that.
I thought so.
We'll see what she thinks then.
We'll play a song, come back, call her, and then see if we can figure out why she's not calling you back and get your first date follow-up, okay?
Awesome.
Thank you, please.
Yeah, man.
We'll do it next.
Right in the middle of your first date follow-up, if you're just joining us, Marshall is on the phone, and Marshall is getting ghosted by Clara.
When we're about to call her, they ended up going out axe throwing, which is a fun date.
He said that he thought they had a great time, one of the best dates he's ever been on,
and the only reason he can think he's not getting a call back is because he's a quirky kind of dude,
and maybe he quirked her out a little bit. Maybe he was too quirky for her.
Quirked her out.
Yeah, you're quirking me out.
Marshall, that's the only thing you can think of? Maybe you quirked her out a little bit. Maybe he was too quirky for her. Quirked her out. Yeah. You're quirking me out. Marshall, that's the only thing you can think of?
Maybe you quirked her a little too much?
Yeah, I quirked her out too much.
But yeah, can you not say that, please?
I can definitely stop saying that.
Anyway, let's give her a call right now.
We're about to call her and see if we can get her on the phone
and then ask her why she's not calling Marshall back
and see if we can get him another date.
Okay, Marshall.
Here we go.
You ready?
Yes, I am.
Thanks.
All right.
Let's do this.
Hello.
Hi, may I speak to Clara, please?
This is Clara.
Hello, Clara. How are you? This is Clara. Hello, Clara.
How are you?
This is Jubal from The Jubal Show.
It's a radio show.
And this is Victoria from that same show.
This is Bennett from the same show.
And Christian Grace and I are from the same show.
I'm the last one.
Oh, my goodness.
Wow.
How's it going?
What's going on?
Well, what's going on is one of our listeners actually emailed us and asked if we could get you on the phone.
Oh, okay.
And the reason being is we do a segment on our show where if you've been out on a date with someone and you end up ghosting them, they can email us to get you on the phone and ask what happened.
And we recently got an email from somebody you went on a date with saying you're not calling them back.
Mm-hmm.
Oh.
Mm-hmm.
Mm-hmm.
Any idea who might have emailed us?
Yeah, it's probably Marshall.
Probably Marshall.
It is Marshall.
Marshall is the guy who emailed us, yes.
He says you guys went out on a date.
He said he really, really liked you, but now you've been ghosting him and he doesn't know why.
So he asked if we could call you and try to figure it out.
Oh, yeah.
I mean, that's kind of sad.
Sad?
Yeah.
It's just, I mean, he's cute and and stuff I just um I don't know I I've I've been crazy
my busiest show that sounds like that's not really the reason though the way you said that
is it just because you're busy no no actually I'm I actually kind of liked his like funny little quirkiness it's kind of like cool
now so um I mean I thought he was cool but it's honestly it's just been the busiest at my work I
work at a bar and like we had some people who left and it's been like double insane shifts for me and
dating has been like the bottom of my list of priorities right now so i get that okay
did you see his text messages he said he texted you five times
yeah i haven't honestly been answering like anybody's text i've just been like look at phone
uh not work okay go to bed get back up take a shower go again like it's just been crazy
dang no i feel it yeah I feel like that's fair.
But also, just a little hi, a little response.
Maybe I'm too busy.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I mean, our date was totally original.
We went ax-throwing.
It was fun.
I've just been slammed at work,
and I've been not able to do anything else for that.
Nope.
She's lying, guys.
She's lying. Oh. What was lying, guys. She's lying.
What was that?
Oh, that's Marshall. He's actually on the
other line listening and wants to talk to you and I guess
couldn't wait.
What did you say, Marshall?
I said that she was
lying. Okay.
About what?
About that she had a good time, about that
she works a lot, about everything that she said, pretty much.
Okay.
You just called her a liar face.
Right.
How do you know that Clara's lying?
Marshall, that's really weird.
Why would you think that I'm lying?
Well, since you asked, I have been at the bar you work at every single night since our date,
and I have not seen you working.
Oh.
Busted.
Yikes.
Wait, maybe she lied about where she works,
because she knew you were going to be coming in creeping.
Marshall, what are you talking about?
I've been working literally doubles every day.
We've been short-staffed.
I didn't see you there either, anywhere.
Well, the only work you've probably been
been doing is working on your story and I don't know, working with going out with other guys on
dates and going to Axe Stone and stuff like that because you haven't been working. Um, okay. I
don't understand why you're saying that. Like, that's just weird because I have been working. Oh, well, that's funny that you say that as well, because I talked to your manager, Mike, and I said, is Clara working today?
Oh, is she working tomorrow?
Or is she working?
Did she work yesterday?
And I got a resounding no.
So there you go.
Marshall, I don't have a manager
named Mike what the hell
are you talking about
you know Mike
the guy that wears the
tight pants and boots
has the weird mustache
one earring Mike
not one earring
and then I asked him is Clara working
anytime soon is she working today is Clara working anytime soon? Is she working today?
Is she working tomorrow?
Nothing.
Mike said no.
That's what I'm talking about.
I do not have a manager named Mike, Marshall.
Are you sure you went to ****?
Say that again?
What was it called again?
I work at a place called Oh, wow.
All right. Well, first off, I'm
sorry. I'm sorry.
I apologize for
what I...
I went to the wrong bar.
What?
How embarrassing.
In my defense, it is
very similar in name.
It's called ****.
That is close.
Close enough. That manager
was probably like, yeah, no, definitely there's no
Clara on our schedule because one doesn't
work here, probably.
Yeah, okay.
That definitely explains the looks that he was giving
me oh no oh man clara would you like to go with marshall again on another date we'll pay for i
know you're busy but whenever you're free would you like to go with marshall again
well i'm kind of impressed with the effort he went through to try to find me. Oh my god. What? Above and beyond.
Wow. I thought it would be the other way.
What? Really?
No way. That's awesome. Yeah, why not?
Marshall doesn't strike me as like a
he strikes me as a quirkster.
He's quirky. Too quirky, remember?
I don't know.
Awesome. Yes.
Thank you. That is best news.
This week has been made awesome i can't wait
that's cute hey so disclaimer uh ha ha you know i just i i did all that because again i was
so into you i am into you and you know hey i'm a quirky guy just me being quirky. Chalk it up to that. Okay.
Hey, on second thought, I think we should go to the bar that I went to, right?
Just because, hey, it's like ironic and funny.
And yeah, I think it makes sense.
You can put Mike in his place and be like, see, Claire is here.
Yeah.
