We get that other person on the phone to see why they're "ghosting".One of out listeners is not getting a call back from a date he went on, and it might be because he brought somebody along on his date that she didn't know she was going to be there! Bummer She's been ghosting him for a couple weeks now And he doesn't know why so we're going to help So we're going to see if we can help him find out And maybe get him another date with Haley What's up Ty how are you Hey man I'm alright Haley's ghosting

And Ty's Just another lonely day Your life's been pretty lonely since your date with Haley, hasn't it, Ty? Yeah, it kind of, you know, it just like runs through my mind all night. Can't really sleep, wake up early, you know. I really liked her. She was awesome. I'd love to go out with her again.

Okay. All right. Well, why do you think she's ghosting you? Tell us a little bit about the date. The date was awesome. I took her to this cool steakhouse. And before we even went there, we talked, we text for three freaking weeks.

We even FaceTimed, which I never do before I meet somebody. You know, she laughs at my crappy jokes and whatever. We have like a really good rapport and like i feel like there's a connection there was there anything on the date that happened that you can think of okay yeah so like the day was awesome we we um we like a lot of the same netflix shows and stuff so we talked a lot about that uh we're both in grad school so we really connected there um i'm kind of like nerdy a little bit computer science she's like in the arts or something like that okay there's one kind of little thing that was

you know a little weird maybe or not weird but you know it was just awkward but like she thought it was funny she was she was rolling she was just cracking up she even did the snort laugh you know what i mean like she liked it um what was it what did you do all right so like okay it was just a stupid little joke i did i mean have you ever seen where you can like draw on your hand and like do like mouth mouth movements with the knuckles on your hand. I did this stupid character, Mr. Fartholomew. I'm sorry? I have the freaking

check and I'm like, who's going to pay for the check? And I'm doing the mouthy thing. She was laughing. I thought it was funny. What else was she supposed to say? Did you hear what he said? No, you guys. It's awesome.

It's like totally works for me. Like it's totally worked before. My friends think it's hilarious. Like I thought it was awesome. Everybody loves Mr. Phytolemule. I don't know about that. You know, everyone thinks it's cool. I've been to parties and like I'll bust it out.

And they're like, oh, that's funny. Is that your hidden talent? No, ha, that's funny, Ty. Is that your hidden talent? No. No, that's a whole nother thing. Oh, okay. A man of many talents. All right.

So did it look like she didn't think that was funny and just was weird? Or did it look like she thought that was funny and quirky or whatever? No. I mean, I think she thought it was funny. I know she thought it was funny i know she thought it was funny i mean look she we i even when i walked her to her car she gave me a kiss on the cheek okay okay it was like smiling the whole time and then she says to me she's like okay well um have fun talking mr fartholomew in tonight and it was oh wow you know she even went along with it. Okay, all right. She was into it. Yeah, so she did like it.

I mean, yeah. Debatable. She's down with the fartholomew. I don't know. Maybe she was just being nice, you know? Maybe. Maybe she was just trying to make me feel like less, I don't know, dorky. That could be it.

Well, it could be. All right, well, we'll try to figure it out for you. We'll play a song, come back, and then call her and get your first date follow-up right after this. All right. Sounds good. Right in the middle of your first date follow-up, if you're just joining us, Ty is on the phone. And Ty, is Mr. Farttholomew there, too? Yes, sir.

What's it do? Oh, man. Ty is on the phone. And that's his hand puppet, Mr. Farttholome Oh, man. Ty is on the phone. And that's his hand puppet, Mr. Farttholomew, who might have ruined his date. Ty said he went out with a girl named Haley. It's been a couple weeks, and he hasn't talked to her. He's reached out to her a few times and has heard nothing back. He's definitely getting ghosted.

And he really liked Haley, so he wants to try to get another date. We're about to call her and see if we can find out why she's ghosting and see if we can get him another date. Ty said that they went out to eat. They had a fun time. Everything seemed to be going great. He even pulled out all the stops and did his, what did you say, your number one comedy routine, Ty, or you got better jokes? I mean, I'd say it's in the top six.

Top six, okay. Of a character, he drew a character on his hand and that character's name is Mr. Fart Tholomule and he busted that character's name is Mr. Fartthalamule, and he busted that out when the check came. He said Haley thought it was funny, though, and that he's done it before, and dates that he's been on have thought it was funny. But that's the only thing that he can think of that she might have found kind of weird and awkward.

Even at the end of the date, you said she kissed you on the cheek and then told you to tuck Mr. Fartthalamule in, so she was making jokes about it, too. Maybe that's not it. I mean, I don't know. Like I said, maybe she did it because she wanted me to feel, you know, more, like, comfortable and not awkward because of my silly little joke,

but I don't know. I don't know. It could have been worse. I could have busted out Mr. Fartthalamule's girlfriend. Hey, Mr. Fartthalamule. What? Never mind. Oh, my God. Whatever. All right, here we go. I'm going to dial her phone number right now. out Mr. Fartolomuel's girlfriend. What? Never mind.

What's going on? Haley, we do a segment on our show called The First Date Follow-Up. I don't know if you've ever heard it before. That's where if you go on a date with someone and you ghost them, that person can have us get you on the phone and ask, Hey, why are you ghosting? So somebody emailed us about you. Okay.

Any idea who it could be? No, I think you should tell me. His name's Ty. Okay. Yeah, that's it. That's who I thought.

All right. Yeah. So you went out on a date with a dude named Ty. He emailed us because he said he really liked your date and he's wondering why you've been ghosting him. Yeah. I mean, look, I really don't want to embarrass him or anything. But I mean, if you went through all the trouble of getting a radio show to call me, look at the end of the day um i honestly i felt like he was on drugs or something on drugs and i'm just like not about that so you thought he was on drugs yeah i i don't know he was like kind of all twitchy and energized during dinner. And then like, you know, I just, there were some other things that I don't know. Like I said, I don't want to embarrass him or anything, but I'm just not about that.

Okay. Well, we talked to Ty about your date. He told us about it. He didn't mention anything about doing drugs on the date. Nope. He seems like kind of a character, but so you think that he was on drugs because he seemed twitchy to you? Yeah, and then, like, he went to the bathroom at one point, and then when he came out, he had some white stuff on his leg.

Oh. Like powder? That's what it looked like. I mean, I'm pretty sure he was doing it, so. Wow, okay. Man. Wow, that's bold. Did you say anything about it in the moment?

No. Like I said, I didn't want to embarrass him or anything. It's like, I don't know him that well. True. I don't know. So with all of that, it just, like, really seemed like a team. And, you know, he started, like, doing this, like, weird hand-puppet thing. And I don't know.

It was, like, kind of funny. But also, I was like, this is definitely what somebody on drugs would be. Are you talking about Mr. Farttholomew? Yep, yep, yep, yep, yep. You're familiar. He told us about that. So we talked to him, right? He told us all about your date.

Like I said, he didn't say he was on drugs. He did tell us about Mr. Farttholomew. He said that it's just a funny character that he does and people like it. He said that he thought you enjoyed it and thought it was funny. He also was open to the fact that maybe you thought it was awkward and weird. It sounds like it was a mixture of both. Yeah, it definitely was a mixture of both. Yeah, so I don't know.

At the end of the day, it's like I don't do drugs. Like, you know, you're a grown man. You can do what you want, but I'm just not about it. Hey, hey, hey, Mr. mr fartholomew doesn't do drugs oh my god i don't get drugs hayley that's ty he's actually on the phone listening and wants to talk to you yeah i figured that was him the only drugs i do are like shots of espresso from the local starbucks but that's it i don't but that's it. I don't do any drugs. I swear I don't do any drugs.

You just sniffed right there. I swear. Terrible timing. No, no, no. I have a sniffle, but it's not from any drugs. Allergies. I always get the sniffles too. No, no, no. It's my allergies.

There's a lot of pollen in the air. That's what they all say. There's a lot of pollen. All right. Right. It always happens. I swear. No.

Probably the worst time you could ever sniff in your life right there. I know it. That was, no, no, no. That was just a bad serendipitous thing. Not serendipitous, but horrible. Haley, are you still there?ipitous, but horrible. Haley, are you still there? Yep, I'm here.

Hey, well, me, I really like you. I think you're awesome. I'm not on drugs. I was just having fun with Mr. Fartolomew. I thought you would like it. You laughed. You let me kiss you on the cheek.

Sorry I was late to the date. Haley, look, like seriously, I will prove it to you that I'm not on drugs, okay? We had such a great time. We have so much in common. I really don't want to like lose this opportunity to get to know you more. And I won't pull out any of that stupid, silly Mr. Fart Dollar Mule stuff on you this time, okay? So will you go out with me again? Well, let me.

Haley, would you like to go out with Ty on another date? We'll pay for it. Look, if you are not on drugs and you guys are paying for the date, then I'm in. Oh, what? That surprises me. I wasn't expecting that. I appreciate that. I was not expecting that at all.
