The Jubal Show on demand.
First date follow-up.
Nina is on the phone today for a first date follow-up,
and she's not getting a call back from a guy named Gary.
Bummer.
Yep.
It's always a Gary.
It's always Gary.
Always.
So, Nina, before we talk about your date and why you think Gary's not calling you back,
how long has it been since you went out with Gary?
It's been a couple of weeks now.
A couple weeks, okay.
And how many times have you tried to get a hold of Gary since your date?
Borderline stalking.
How much is borderline stalking?
Yeah.
Give us a number.
Okay.
Okay.
I want to say less than 10. I was expecting like 10 a day yeah what you were saying
no no just you know like after 10 it's kind of like oh wow like this is desperate desperate is
not pretty yeah did you change the way that you reached out to him not only through social media
but you texted him called him even slipped an slipped an email. Yeah, no email.
It's just like texting a couple of times like, hey, I hope you have a nice day.
Or, you know, like, oh, what do you have planned for this weekend?
Or it's like something like that or, you know, just random little things.
It wasn't on schedule or anything like that.
So tell us a little bit about your date with Gary.
How was it?
It was really good.
You know, first thing, like when you meet someone, you're usually like, oh, are they
going to look the same or they're going to like act okay?
Because, you know, you have like, people can be special situations.
And he was just like super cute, handsome like you know you know when you meet
someone and you're like oh my god this person was raised right like just really like nice to talk to
and he was actually paying attention when i spoke he he wasn't just like oh oh oh so do you want to
propose this weekend like no he was like actually like paying uh-huh, uh-huh, uh-huh, so do you want your bow this weekend?
Like, no, he was, like,
actually, like, paying attention to what I was saying.
What a great compliment
that is to give someone.
You know, you were raised right.
Yeah.
That's just like putting it
all in a nice bow.
It's like, you know what?
If I just had to say,
good job, good job.
Good job.
Like, I'm gonna, like,
good job, parents.
It's good.
But then, you know,
our date ended, and it was just like, bye, I'll see you again, and nothing after that.
That's why I texted him, like, almost ten times, ten times, just to, like, hey, you know, like, what happened?
And just let me know, you know, if you don't want to go out with me and, you know, I just, at least I know, you know?
For sure.
Yeah, he definitely deserves you at least an explanation.
Well, why do you think he's not calling you back?
Why do you think he's ghosting you?
I honestly, I don't know, but it would be nice to know.
It's like, and I have to say, like, truly, it's like a pet peeve.
Like, if I, if you didn't like me, like, at least tell me if you like me like tell me hey I don't
have time for you right now but like in the future maybe yeah and by me did anything happen on your
date that you know you think went wrong or have you been in your head about it at all because
you know normally that's what happens when you go on a date and someone goes to you try to figure
out what it is is there anything you can think of no that's the thing like i wish or maybe just me talking a lot but like
that's it you said you were talking a lot and he was listening but were you listening when he was
talking i think i was listening i hope i was listening he was talking a lot about football
but like when i i i know nothing about sports so he's saying football
football and i honestly thought he was talking about like american football but he was like
talking about soccer so he went on and on and on about like the fifa about the world cup about all
of these things and i'm like do the Cowboys play in that? And he's just like, okay.
Oh, okay, that's not it.
That's not it.
Okay, maybe I wasn't such a good listener because he told me that he has Susan's tickets
to like, he has a football team
and he goes with his friends
and like a whole thing
and I was just like, okay.
Okay, so now whatever that means. So now we've got two options. since I got a whole thing and I was just like, okay. Okay.
So now whatever that means.
So now we've got two options.
Maybe you weren't listening that good
and also maybe the fact
that you don't know anything about sports
turned him off.
So maybe those could be it,
but we'll find out what it is.
We'll play a song,
come back and then call him
and see if we can figure out why
and get you another date
with your first date follow-up next.
If you're just joining us
for today's first date follow-up,
Nina is on the phone
and she's not getting a call back from Gary.
They went out to dinner.
I can't remember where they went.
One of the things that she liked about him
was he's a good listener.
They went out on a date.
She said it was fun.
She said he was a great listener
and she really liked him a lot,
but it's been a couple weeks.
She's tried to get a hold of him a few times,
more than once, about 10,
and he hasn't responded.
The only thing that she can think of is, there was a moment on the date,
Gary is super into sports,
Nina isn't. He brought up football. She thought
he was talking about American football, but he was talking about soccer.
And then she,
how did it go, Nina? You said
something about the Cowboys when you were talking about
actual, like,
kick the ball with your foot soccer? Yeah, like, he was talking about the Cowboys when he was talking about actual, like, kick the ball with your foot soccer?
Yeah, like, he was
talking about the FIFA
World Cup, and I thought
he was talking about, like, American
football, so I was like, well, I don't know, like,
if the Cowboys are playing.
And, yeah,
it was not
a pleasant reaction from him.
He was like, they're definitely not playing.
So maybe that was a turn off.
Yeah.
And that's the only thing that Nina can think of.
So we're about to call him, see if we can figure out what it is,
and try to get Nina another date with Gary.
Hello?
Hey, can I speak to Gary, please?
Yeah, yeah, what's up?
Gary, how you doing, man?
This is Jubal from a radio show called The Jubal Show.
I'm Victoria from the same show.
I'm Bennett from the same one.
I'm Christian Gray Snow.
Surprise, also from the same show.
Yeah, it's weird.
So, what's up?
Surprise.
How you doing? I'm Yeah, it's weird. So, what's up? Surprise. How you doing?
I'm good, I'm good.
What's going on?
We do a thing on the show
called the First Date Follow-Up.
That's where if you go out
on a date with someone
and then end up ghosting them,
that person can email us
to get you on the phone
and ask why you're ghosting them.
And we got an email
from someone about you.
Okay.
Do you want to tell me who?
It's Nina.
Her name is Nina.
You guys went out.
It's been a couple weeks.
You've been ghosting her.
She's trying to get a hold of you, and she wants to know why.
I feel like she wanted something serious, and I'm kind of just vibing right now.
I'm not really looking for a girl or anything like that. I'm just kind of like like vibing right now i'm not really like looking for like a girl or anything
like that i'm just kind of like i'm dating like i'm going on a date here date there you know just
like just kind of like vibing so you don't want to go out with her again because you're dating
other people i don't i wouldn't i don't not that i don't want to go out with her again i just don't
want a serious relationship like if she wanted to go out again like if she was magically here or
whatever like if she wanted to go out again i'd say yes but like i just don't want her to think that i'm trying to
like you know boot up or whatever i don't understand why if you're still slightly interested
you would just completely not respond i mean honestly i i'm not on my phone like that i just
i just be forgetting like i got a lot going on I'm working a lot I'm like I just
that just be forgetting like there's no I didn't mean to ghost her I just like she every time she
texts it's like at a time that I'm not like really able to reply or I can't reply or I mean to apply
and then something happens I'm like oh snap I forgot so I mean I know it's a dumb excuse but
like I'm not I don't mean anything towards her she's cool it sounds like there's
something else yeah i'm going on other dates with other women like it's like she's not my i'm not
gonna sit here and say she's my priority but i'm also not gonna say that i didn't have fun
like i would go on another date with her but she's not i'm not like but you don't have to be like
exclusive after two dates like i mean i feel like you can still talk to other people while still going on
two or three dates.
No, I feel you. I feel you.
You're definitely not convincing us.
Okay,
look, there is something, but like
I can't really talk about it.
We're too far into it now. You gotta talk about it.
Yeah.
I mean, I think she'll be alright.
Wow. I mean, we can ask her.
She's actually on the phone listening and wants to talk to you.
Oh.
Hey.
Hey.
Hey, Gary.
Sorry.
I'm sorry.
I'm a little confused because I thought we had, like, a good time,
but now you're kind of just, like, giving excuses of why you're ghosting me.
I mean, you don't want to really hang out.
Like, I'm okay with that.
I just wanted to know why.
But can you just, like, tell me what it is? Like, I know you don't want to say it, but, like, it would be nice to know.
I mean, listen, I just don't really want to talk about it.
Thanks for reaching out, I guess.
Oh, my gosh.
You got to give her more than that.
Yeah.
I mean, like, I really like you.
Like, we were fine during the date.
You said that you wanted to hang out, but, like,
could you at least tell me what i did if i
did something like i don't i don't understand i can't i just can't like it's really like you know
i'm kind of cool but i mean thanks for reaching out i mean come on just like tell me like is it
that bad you can't say it just let me know oh. Oh my God. Can you guys like put her on hold
or something?
Like,
I don't,
I don't really want to
have this conversation.
Can y'all like,
hold on.
Nina,
I'm going to put you
on hold real quick.
Don't go anywhere.
Okay.
Okay.
Gary.
Okay.
Gary,
she's on hold.
Are you going to tell us
what it is?
Okay.
I mean,
just don't tell her.
Tell her some other
like bullshit
whenever you get over there.
But I,
I'm pretty sure like I'm like 90% sure that I slept with her sister.
What?
The same night?
No, just in general.
Because we were talking, and I knew she looked familiar,
but then we started talking about high school and where we grew up and everything.
And then when I got home, I was like, what was her name?
So I looked her up and
i'm like oh yeah this is her and i don't like like keeping it in the family that's not my thing i'm
not trying to break apart a family or like anything like that so i'm like i'd rather just like it's
cool so that's why i stopped talking to her because i'm like listen i'm not i know we're not
going to date anymore i don't want to come between her and her sister i don't know what the relationship
is like but i don't want anything to do with it so i was just like cutting my ties before like you
know things come back to me all right so that's yeah and you don't want and you that's why you
didn't want her to know that you think you slept with her sister back in the day yeah and like i'm
like i'm like 90 sure like it's pretty much a definite thing um so there you go that's it um
can i go like don't tell her but like can i go now like this is getting kind of weird yeah you pretty much a definite thing. So there you go. That's it.
Can I go?
Like, don't tell her,
but like, can I go now?
Like, this is getting kind of weird.
Yeah, you can.
Oh, I forgot to tell you,
I didn't put it on hold until she heard that.
So you told her.
Thanks for saving us the trouble.
Oh my God,
he slept with my sister.
Who didn't?
Oh no.
Dang.
