Starting point is 00:02:15 injury attorneys, online at advocateslaw.com. Avery is on the phone today for a first date follow-up and she's getting ghosted by a guy named Toby. So we're gonna see if we can figure it out for her and call him in just a few minutes and ask him why he's ghosting but first Avery tell us about Toby how long has it been since you talked to him? Hi sure so we talked online for a while before our date and we ended up going hiking and it's been a couple weeks and I just haven't heard from him. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:02:45 I kind of feel like it's weird. Well, okay. So a couple of weeks, that is a long time. Yeah, I would feel weird about that too. Yeah. I was kind of giving it time. You know, we're both really busy. He had mentioned like work a couple of times.
Starting point is 00:02:55 I didn't know if he was busy, but I thought it went well. So I was just kind of, you know, want to see what that. Did you try reaching out to him at all in between that time? Um, I didn't. I did text him like a full. know, want to see what's up. Did you try reaching out to him at all in between that time? I didn't. I did text him like a full I went on the same hike like later, so I text him a photo of the hike like, oh my God, this is where we were. And he just never responded to that photo.
Starting point is 00:03:14 But it's kind of benign, like I didn't want to be too forward, but you didn't even respond. It's like completely ghosted. So yeah, that's a big one, too, like if you went to the same place you were at and sent a picture, you would think you would get a response. I love how we do that to ourselves, though. We send text messages and tell ourselves, it's OK. one, too. Like if you went to the same place you were at and sent a picture, you would think you would get a response.
Starting point is 00:03:25 I love how we do that to ourselves, though. We send text messages and tell ourselves, it's OK, this one doesn't require a response, so I'm just going to send it and whatever happens happens. And then really, you're like, dang it, you should have responded. Yeah, I was like opening the door and it didn't open. Well, let's see what happens. Tell us more about the date and the hike, then. Yeah, so we both had on our like online profiles that we like to hike.
Starting point is 00:03:48 So I thought it would kind of be a good date, you know, not awkward at all and fun. Yeah, I brought my dog because the dog needs to outside and get exercise and I thought it would be fun. And we hiked for a few miles and then afterward we were still having good times so we went to get a bite to eat. And he was really nice and he was really sweet to my dog too. He looked around trying to make sure we could find a patio where the dog could sit with us outside while we ate.
Starting point is 00:04:18 And yeah, I don't know, we had like a great afternoon. Did you tell him ahead of time that you were bringing the dog on the date? I don't think so. I don't know. We have like a great afternoon. Did you tell him ahead of time that you were bringing the dog on the date? Uh, I don't think so. I don't know. I didn't really think because it was a hike. We were outside. I didn't really think about it, but I don't think, I think, I don't think I did. Um, but he didn't seem to mind. I mean, who doesn't love dogs? I don't know. Yeah. Must love dogs. I mean, there are some people that don't, he didn't seem like he minded it.
Starting point is 00:04:43 Not, not that I noticed. No, I mean, he doesn some people that don't. He didn't seem like he minded it. Not, not that I noticed. No, I mean, he doesn't have a dog himself, but like it didn't seem, he didn't seem offended or scared at the dog or anything. Okay, good. Was there anything that happened during the hike or maybe afterwards that could be the reason why he's not hitting you back?
Starting point is 00:05:02 I don't know. I mean, something did kind of seem off after lunch, but you know, like at the end of the day he kind of left not abruptly, but like, you know, I thought we might continue hanging out, but I didn't know if he shouldn't like his food. Um, he ended up giving the rest of his meal to my dog. So I thought it was so cute, but um, What did you guys eat? Was that a lasagna? I hope not. No, it's like tacos. It's like tacos, yeah. Yeah, I don't know. I guess I just thought he got caught up with work or something.
Starting point is 00:05:34 Or maybe the hike was like... Maybe he liked not strenuous hikes and it was too much. I don't know. I'm honestly just... I'm baffled. When you say it was different after you ate like or. Yeah, how was he different? Um, like he just kind of said he had to go and, you know, I kept making suggestions of like, oh, we could walk back to our cars together or like I could drop the dog
Starting point is 00:05:59 back at my house and we could go do something else. And he just kind of shut everything down. I was like, no, I have to go. Whereas earlier we had been talking about like making plans for the future, you know, but I mean, like kind of talking about ideas of other things that we could do, you know. Yeah. OK, well, we'll see if we can figure it out for you. We'll play a song, come back and then call him and see if he'll tell us why he's ghosting you and then see if you also want another date after you find out why
Starting point is 00:06:26 and maybe you another date. Okay. Okay. All right. Play a song, come back and get your first day follow up next. Have you ever wondered if your pet is lying to you? Why is my cat not here? And I go in and she's eating my lunch. Or if hypnotism is real?
Starting point is 00:06:37 You will use this suggestion in order to enhance your cognitive control. What's inside a black hole? Black holes could be a consequence of the way that we understand the universe. Well, we have answers for you in the new iHeart original podcast, Science Stuff. Join me, Jorge Cham, as we tackle questions you've always wanted to know the answer to about animals, space, our brains, and our bodies. Questions like, can you survive being cryogenically frozen? This is experimental.
Starting point is 00:07:02 This means never work for you. What's a quantum computer? It's not just a faster computer. It performs in a fundamentally different way. Do you really have to wait 30 minutes after eating before you can go swimming? It's not really a safety issue. It's more of a comfort issue. We'll talk to experts, break it down, and give you easy to understand explanations to fascinating scientific questions. So give yourself permission to be a science geek and listen to science stuff on the iHeartVideo app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:07:29 In 2020, a group of young women in a tidy suburb of New York City found themselves in an AI-fueled nightmare. Someone was posting photos. It was just me naked. Well, not me, but me with someone else's body parts on my body parts that looked exactly like my own. I wanted to throw up. I wanted to scream. It happened in Levittown, New York. But reporting the series took us through the darkest corners of the internet and to the front lines of a global battle against deepfake pornography. This should be illegal, but what is this? This is a story about technology that's moving faster than the law
Starting point is 00:08:10 and about vigilantes trying to stem the tide. I'm Margie Murphy. And I'm Olivia Carville. Starting point is 00:08:32 My husband cheated on me with two women. He wants to stay together because he has cancer. Should I stay? Okay Sam, that has to be the craziest story in OK Storytime podcast history. Well John, that's because it's dumpin' week and this user writes, my partner told me when we first got together
Starting point is 00:08:44 that he has cancer. He's currently living with his mom while he is in recovery so that it takes the pressure off me caring for both him and her baby until he's well enough to move into our new home with us. Is he good so far? Well, last week we had attempted break-in. I asked my husband who was supposed to be at his mom's
Starting point is 00:08:58 to come over and change locks, but he wouldn't. Then his mom told me he wasn't with her. I went to Facebook and it took me less than an hour to find the first two women he was cheating on me with. Oh, what else is he lying about? Well, one thing my paranoia just wouldn't let up was about the cancer in his treatments. I asked his mom about it, who told me he doesn't have cancer. She also informed me he was in rehab, not the hospital.
Starting point is 00:09:20 He suffered from addiction and was trying to recover for me and our baby. Did she leave him? Well, to find out how the story ends, listen and follow the OK Storytime podcast on the iHeart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey there, Ed Helms here, host of Snafu, your favorite podcast about history's greatest screw ups. It's the 1920s, prohibition is in full swing and a lot of people are mysteriously dying? Assistant Attorney General Mabel Walker Willebrandt is becoming increasingly desperate in forcing
Starting point is 00:09:51 prohibition. She was a lone warrior. I mean, how could Mabel not be feeling the pressure? Her bosses are drunks, her agents are incompetent, even Congress is full of hypocrites. So if Mabel is going to succeed in laying down the law, she needs to make the consequences for drinking hurt a lot more. Which she does, arguably a little too well. Starting point is 00:10:29 First date of follow-up Powered by the advocates injury attorneys online at advocates law.com Right in the middle of the first date follow-up, and if you're just joining us Avery is on the phone And she's getting ghosted by Toby So we're about to call him and see if he'll tell us why he's ghosting her. But before we do that, Avery, why don't you refresh everybody's memory on your date with Toby? Sure. So we went hiking a couple of weeks ago with my dog and went really well.
Starting point is 00:10:54 Conversation was going fine. We got food afterwards, seemed to have a good time. But since then he's kind of ghosted me and I'm not sure why he doesn't want to get together again. You ready to call him? Yeah. All right, here we go. Hello. Hi, Mr. Toby, please. Hey, yeah, this is Toby. Toby, how are you? My name is Jubal. I host a radio show and it's called The Jubal Show. Hi, Toby. The show's Toby, please. Hey, yeah, this is Toby. Toby, how are you? My name is Jubal. I host a radio show and it's called The Jubal Show.
Starting point is 00:11:26 Hi, Toby. The show's here, too. I'm Nina. Hi, I'm Victoria. Hey, how's it going? Hey, how's it going? I'm doing good. Thanks for asking.
Starting point is 00:11:34 Do you listen to the show? You have heard you guys, so I love it. Oh, OK. We love that. Probably heard a first day follow up before then. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. Sweet. Well, guess what tobes oh?
Starting point is 00:11:48 Hey is this for the last date. I have lady Yeah, you're a smart guy toad. Yeah, you seem pretty casual about this. Did you expect us to call? I? know I just Yeah, I mean that was the last one I went on so that's what we're talking about Yeah, it is what we're talking about. So every told us, you know about your date and stuff She said she really liked you in a few weeks and you haven't gotten back to her She doesn't know why you're ghosting her. So she wanted us to ask you. Would you tell us please? Yeah
Starting point is 00:12:21 So bad, but like I just couldn't stand her dog which she brought along with me. So it was a dog? I mean, she didn't mention it, you know, and I don't know, it's not that big of a problem, but I mean like just kind of like a heads up would have been nice, you know, like, hey, I'm going to burn my dog on the hike, you know. We asked her if she asked you or told you that the dog was gonna come.
Starting point is 00:12:48 Yeah, she said she didn't because she just figured it was an outside hike, but she also mentioned that you were really great to her dog. You fed her dog. You were giving the dog love, so. I mean, somebody kind of had to. I mean, the dog is not like well-behaved at all. I mean, the whole time it was like pulling her along.
Starting point is 00:13:07 And I was like, all right, I'm going to have to take over this leash cause you're getting like yanked. So it was kind of annoying, you know, and then, uh, I mean, we got, we got lunch and the dog just was like sitting there like begging for food constantly. And I mean, she didn't do anything to like stop it. She just kind of like, Oh, that's so cute. Like, is she cute? And I mean she didn't do anything to like stop it. She just kind of like oh, that's so cute Like is this you cute and I was like no I mean It's staring at my food like I'm trying to eat I just I eventually just like gave the dog the food rest my food because I was like it's just
Starting point is 00:13:39 Salivating like looking at my food. So she told us that you gave the dog the food She thought maybe you that you wanted to but you just gave it cause it wouldn't stop. Sucker. No, I was like, it was like judging me, like judging my order of talking to myself. Like, can I have it? You like dogs, but you just didn't like this one the way it acted. So it was, he felt like you're on a date with a dog. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:14:03 I mean, I know I love dogs. I love animals, but I mean, not that dog. I mean, if that dog behaves the way it does, it says a lot about its owner. Oh, okay. What, are you crazy? My dog is really well-behaved. I honestly can't believe you have a problem with her.
Starting point is 00:14:19 I'm super offended right now, actually. Toby, that's Avery. That's part of the drill. Hi there. Hi. Yeah, I would disagree. If you had a problem with dogs that didn't like dogs, I didn't have to bring the dog on the hike, but he had talked about them before and she's really, really well behaved. She's completely trained.
Starting point is 00:14:42 We did training classes and everything. and yeah, we were outside. She was having fun and running around while we were hiking but that's literally what dogs do. So I didn't realize you had a problem with dogs. I don't have a problem with dogs. Your dog is not trained. I think you should get a refund because whatever training you've had that dog is like wild. So I'm sorry, but that's not the case. I've never had anyone tell me that before. And I brought my dog on other days before.
Starting point is 00:15:11 I've, he, she comes and hangs out with my friends and we go to restaurants and. No one's ever had a problem with her. She's super cute. And I don't know, maybe she just got a weird vibe for me. Oh, that does happen. I think other friends might not be telling you the truth. That's all I'm saying. But because you got to wrangle the dog in.
Starting point is 00:15:31 Well, I don't think we'll be hanging out again then because I trust my dog. He has a really good sense of character and he clearly didn't take you. So I don't have any interest. Are you sure? Toby, would you like to go again with Avery on a second date? We'll pay for it. No, I have to ask. No, it's OK.
Starting point is 00:15:51 I'll pass. You can have a date with a dog. I would much rather hang out with my dog any day. Really. I'll take my dog on the date. It's the dog test. Yeah. And maybe I'll see you on that hike again sometime and she'll pee on your foot or something. Okay.
Starting point is 00:16:13 Jubal's first date follow-up. Have you ever wondered if your pet is lying to you? Why is my cat not here? And I go in and she's eating my lunch. Or if hypnotism is real?
