More of you dating with intention because you know what you want.
And you know what?
We love that for you.
Someone else will too.

Hey, everyone. It's Katie Couric.
Well, the election is in the homestretch,
right in time for a new season of my
podcast, Next Question. I'm bringing in some FOKs, friends of Katie's, to help me out, like Ezra Klein,
Jen Psaki, Astead Herndon. But we're also going to have some fun, thanks to some of my friends
like Samantha Bee and Charlemagne the God. We're going to take some viewer questions as well.
I mean, isn't that what democracy is all about?

The Jubal Show on demand.
First day follow-up.
There's like three types of guys That play the lead role
In a romantic comedy
Right the character
Not even the guy
But there's the guy with the dog
Women love a dude with a dog
They sure do
Then there's the guy that plays guitar
Oh by the campfire
Women love the guy that plays guitar
Also the guy that Donates his time on the weekends to hand out food to the homeless.
The charitable dude.
Yeah.
Women also like that guy.
Try hard.
Yeah.
And Angel is on the phone right now for a first date follow-up, and apparently she's
not getting a call back from the third option there, the charitable guy.
Aw.
Yeah. Hi. Hi, guys charitable guy. Aw. Yeah.
Hi.
Hi, guys.
Hi.
What's up?
So you said that you met a guy named Mikey.
Right.
And you really liked him, but now he's not calling you back.
And you guys met at a food bank?
Yes.
Yes.
We were both volunteering at a food bank.
And I don't know.
I kind of felt this chemistry between between us I felt like it was going
really well I felt like we were having a great time we really liked each other had a lot in
common um and we exchanged numbers and we said we were going to hang out you guys were working at a
food bank you just strike up a conversation over a can of beans or something just like wow these
beans are good what do you think of these? We should get together and warm up these beans together and eat
them.
No, we were both like
serving together.
I think that's a super sweet way to meet somebody.
It is very cute.
It was kind of romantic. It was kind of like what you just mentioned.
How you meet somebody in a romantic comedy.
I thought it was really cute.
And he was really sweet and very attractive
and very nice and smart.
We had a great conversation.
We're just like joking around a little.
We had like really good back and forth, a little, you know, like flirty.
And I don't know.
I just I felt like I felt like, wow, this guy's like really into me.
And then we exchanged numbers and I texted him after a few days and i was like hey i'm
volunteering at this place uh this weekend do you want to come help us out and he didn't answer
i was like i was like all right he's he's busy or whatever okay so he hasn't said anything to
you since then no i texted a couple of times about different things and he just did not respond ever
oh that's weird, what if you have
the wrong number?
What if he accidentally
took it down wrong
or something?
Well, I don't know.
I would assume
somebody would actually
text me back
and say,
this isn't Mikey.
You have the wrong number
or something, right?
You know what?
He sounds like a great guy.
Maybe he donated his phone
to the less fortunate.
Oh.
Doubtful.
I would expect the less fortunate
to at least call me back to be courteous
and say, hey, he gave us his phone.
It sounds like you're super into
this guy, but were you getting those
vibes back from him?
I really was. That's why I'm so
surprised because he was,
I don't know, he was like flirty, but like in
a nice way. He wasn't like, you know,
too much, but just like really sweet and cute and chemistry and vibey,
you know?
Who asked who?
Did you ask him for his number?
Did he ask you for your number?
You know what?
He actually asked me if I had an Instagram and he said,
let's add each other on Instagram.
Okay.
And I,
and I said,
I don't use Instagram.
I'll give you my phone number. Oh, you don't use Instagram. I'll give you my phone number.
Oh.
You don't use Instagram?
What's wrong with you?
That's weird.
What era are you from?
I mean, I'm not, I mean, I'm on Instagram, but I just don't use it.
I don't go on it to talk to people or anything like that.
You know, I hardly ever use it.
Okay.
Well, if you do, you should follow us at the Jubile Show.
I'm at Jubile Fresh.
I'm at Adrean's.
I'm at Evan on the Radio.
Yeah.
And follow us whenever you want. Why do you
think he's not calling you back, though?
I don't know. Is it possible
that I'm that bad at
knowing when somebody's
fake or lying, or is he married?
Does he have a girlfriend? I have no idea. I don't
know. I got, like, really good vibes from him, so
I'm... I don't
know if I'm crazy for not
seeing this person is lying, or did something happen? Or maybe he seeing this person is lying or that something happened.
Or maybe he is this great guy.
Maybe something happened.
I have no idea.
Maybe he didn't like the way you were volunteering.
Because some people volunteer, you know, just do it really weird.
Yeah.
Maybe you gave too much mashed potatoes or something.
That would do it.
Or not enough.
Oh, even worse.
We'll try to figure it out for you.
All right.
We'll play a song, come back, and then call him and see if he answers.
Please help me out.
Find out what went wrong and hopefully get you another date, okay?
Thank you.
All right, we'll get your first date follow-up next.
It's The Jubal Show.
In the middle of today's first date follow-up, I call this one,
Love in the Soup Line.
Because that's the romantic comedy that I've made up in my head.
For Angel, who is on the phone right
now and Angel met a prince an angel a guy angel because we're talking to a female angel right now
but a guy angel at a food bank when they were both volunteering their eyes locked in the food
line and he said hey you got a little custard on your cheek.
And she said everything was great.
He seemed to really like her.
They exchanged numbers and said they should go out.
And she texted him after and nothing.
So we don't know why.
And we're about to figure it out.
Any last thoughts before we try to call Mikey and get you another date?
I don't know.
I'm really nervous.
But I'm excited. And I want to know what happened. I'm really curious. I just want
to do it. So no matter what, you at least
want to know why he's not calling you back if you can't get
another date. Right, right, right.
Okay, cool. I'm going to dial this phone right now and see if
it picks up. Here we go.
Hello?
Hey, is this Mikey?
Uh, yeah.
Hey, what's up, Mikey? How are you?
This is The Jubal Show. My name is Jubal.
My name's Alex Fresh.
And this is English Evan.
Hey, guys.
Do you know what that is?
Yeah, yeah, I've heard you guys.
Oh, well, that's cool.
Well, thanks for listening.
Yeah. absolutely.
What's going on?
Not much.
We're just calling you because somebody sent us an email about you, Mikey.
Okay.
That doesn't worry you?
Do you know what about?
I don't know what about.
Yeah, what's the email about?
Well, we got an email from somebody that you met while you were volunteering at a food bank a few weeks ago.
Oh, okay.
I'm assuming you're talking about Angel then.
Yes.
Yes.
We are talking about Angel.
Angel emailed us because she told us how you guys met, said that you really bonded and made plans to go out again. But when she texted you after meeting you, she hasn't heard anything back.
So she's wondering if she did something wrong.
Yeah, honestly, I thought Angel was really cool.
She was great.
Why won't you text her back?
Yeah, what happened?
You know, the reason is I'm a little embarrassed.
Embarrassed?
What happened?
So I wasn't exactly too truthful with Angel when we first met.
Okay, so she said that you guys met at a food bank.
Volunteering.
Yeah.
Were you not volunteering?
Did you go there to get food?
No, that's not it.
Okay, well, what weren't you truthful about then?
What's the reason that you're embarrassed?
So I wasn't there actually volunteering.
I was actually there doing my community service.
Oh, you have to be there.
I had, yeah. Okay, so we got a bad boy
on the line. So when she texted you, you just left her on read and you just didn't
want to see her again? I was just
embarrassed. I didn't know how to explain to her that I was actually
because she was very into it and she's all about the food bank and volunteering
and she was really cute, really, really pretty and great.
So I was pouring it on pretty thick.
So were you like, yeah, I volunteer every single Saturday down here.
They all know me by nickname because they know I'm so well.
My name's Mikey, but they call me Mike around here.
Something like that.
Yeah, basically you got it right.
So you didn't want to tell her that you have to be doing it because of a court order.
I feel like for how much you poured it on and said
you did that, you can't go back from that. You can't
start dating this girl and then like,
so, just joking, you know?
Yeah. Yeah, I didn't
call her back because I just didn't think
she would respond
well to that. Okay.
Next time, just don't give your number.
Give a fake number.
Yeah.
I mean, I did like her.
I don't know.
I know I probably shouldn't.
I know I shouldn't have done that.
Yeah.
Well, you did.
You lied about being a charitable dude when really you're a court-ordered charitable guy.
And I can understand why you wouldn't want to call her back,
but guess what?
You can talk to her right now
because she's actually on the line listening
and wants to talk to you.
Oh, that's right.
She's on the phone.
Yes, she is.
Hi.
Hi, Mikey.
Hey, what's going on, Angel?
You tell me.
What's going on? Angel? You tell me. What's going on?
I'm really confused.
Well, Angel, I guess obviously you've heard the entire conversation.
You know, I feel bad.
I shouldn't have lied to you.
But, yeah, I wasn't volunteering.
I was doing community service.
I mean, that's really weird because you went
into this whole thing when we met about how much charity you do and how much you're into it and
like you lie the whole time basically that's was he pouring it on that bad very I'm very confused
right now I feel like this is not the person I really talked to that day. That's weird. Well, no, the person you talked
to was, you know, a guy who volunteers
at the charity place all the time and just loves it. Not a criminal.
Yeah, exactly. A hardened criminal.
I was going to say that's who he actually is.
So, actually, that's
what's more important to me. Can I ask
why you're doing community
service? Like, what happened?
Basically,
my license was suspended one too many times,
especially for not having insurance. If you do it more than three times, you're a habitual
offender and then they give you community service. If that's all it was, then why were you so
embarrassed? Like it's not that big a deal yeah i i complete obviously
i completely agree angel and i was just having so much fun with you and you know i just i was
embarrassed i didn't want to look bad mikey would you like to go on another date with angel we'll
pay for it not your car insurance premium though maniac. But we will pay for another date if you'll go out with her again.
I mean, it's out in the open.
You know, I feel better that she doesn't think it's such a big deal.
So, yeah, you know, I would love to go out with her again.
I had a great time the first time.
Yeah, and I think we already know that you liked her.
I guess it's more importantly now, Angel, do you want to go out with Mikey again because you just found out
that he's a liar and
a serial
non-insurancer?
So that point
doesn't bother me that much. What does
bother me is that he lied.
That's kind of more of a big deal to me.
I think he's pretty innocent, you guys.
If you give him a second chance to talk about it,
communication is key.
He really liked you and he wants to go innocent, you guys. If you give him a second chance to talk about it, communication is key. He really liked you.
He wants to go out with you again.
You should talk about it on the next date.
Yeah, I'll give it another chance.
Yay!
Sweet.
Well, Angel, we'll have you get in touch with Mikey's
parole officer and
see what his schedule is.
