00:00Welcome to the show.A winning. What a win in advance, wow. It's not the playoff, bro. It's Monday night.Winning stock. You know what?I am man enough to say, you were right.
00:12Thank you.I was wrong about Monday night football.I picked a Rams victory, was flirting with a Rams cover. You said the bills are going to go to the West Coast, put up their feet. They didn't put up the Rams. They didn't eat their sand. They ate a sand with the house. No, they did it.
00:28Face it.And you were right.They scored 37 points.Brew was right.37.I don't remember.I mean, they allowed.Less than 30.
00:36Less than 30.I'm more confident the bills aren't good.First hour of first thing first.I am.Today, the bills win, barely. It's the NFL.The Rams are like this. No, they're not.
00:50All the games are not like this. The Rams had to fire someone today.Well, that part's true.John McVeigh is like, oh, I guess I'll just go for one extra point.Oh, really? That was a problem?Yes.Unbelievable.Meanwhile.
01:07Brewers win and the series heads to L.A.But as Shohei headed to the bench, some brutal statistics for one of the best players of all the time. What was that? It's his chase rate. And finally, has Mahomes been unseed from the top of Mahomes mountain, as was promised.Hold on.Hold on.As what?
01:29What is the thing that enrages me more than anything? He says something.Being misquoted on the air.Okay.So go ahead.I did not promise anything other than.I promised that Purdy had earned eligibility to the top of the mountain and could get there.I did not promise that blanket if the Niners win, he'll be there.
01:50Check the tape.True will back me up on this. Now, we'll see if he got there.Well, first of all, everyone's eligible. No, not true.there is if next week Cam Ward through 14 touchdownshe wouldn't be able to 14I'm telling you he wouldn't he would be able to move up
02:0614 touchdownsno you have to that's absurdthat's insaneit's a rich tabbisha rich tabbages justto be allowed to get to the topyou have to be at some pointin the inner circle it steps
02:21Drake is eligible obviouslyJosh Joe Lamarthose guys are all eligible14.Purdy is eligible. But certain, like, we were not putting the Greek kid when he checked in a couple weeks ago.He wasn't eligible with that big upset. He wasn't eligible to be at the top of the level.
02:39Now, if you stack success, Purdy is eligible. And in 54 minutes, we might see he's a top.Purdy's left the Super Bowl with the lead.Well, that's.Left the Super Bowl with an L.Be careful.Nick Wright, Christmas start, Kevin Wilds. We're headed to L.A.
02:55Josh Allen only completed a dozen passes, but ran his way to 121 yards in an overtime winto bring the bills to 4-1.Here he was post-game.Early on, just didn't feel like I was in a rhythm, wasn't taking some of the underneath stuff, you know, fighting mechanically some stuff right nowthat I'm working on.
03:17And I felt like in that second half, I got into a rhythm. And guys made some plays.I mean, Khalil, and that first captain,Catch it in overtime. It's awesome stuff.Got to be better on the past game.We know that.We understand that.
03:31But we'll take a win on there what. All right. For the first three quarters, he completed seven passes and only threw the ball 14 times, but ran the ball for 98, no, ran the ball for 30 yards. And then the fourth quarter decided to come alive in overtime.Five for five, 112 passing yards and 91 rushing yards. What did you make of Josh Allen's interesting night? This is what I made.
03:54of it. I knew it. I knew it was coming. I thought four or five weeks from now.But yesterday, Joe Brady did exactly what I've been calling for him to do and predicting he wasgoing to have to do for them to have big success. He reigned in Superman. He reigned in Josh Allen. You said it, Wiles. He threw 19 passes.19 passes.I was thinking that while I was watching itbecause I did not think he was ever going to do itbecause I thought he got the job
04:31because Josh didn't want him to do it,Josh wanted him to have the job.Me and me and Jeannie told youwhat you're hoping for is not going to happen. It happened.Last night it certainly did happen. You know what sparked? They fed James Cook.
04:43This.Oh, okay.Let me see. This is what sparked it.Joe Brady saw this wing and a prayerattempt by Superman.and said, oh, you know what, let's let Josh do it with his legsand let's let him put the other guys in position to do it with their legs.
05:04And from that point on, Josh was fantastic.I'm not taking anything away from his performance. He was great with his running the football, and he was great getting into guys in position.I mean, it was checkdowns, it was screens, it was short passes. And here's the thing with Jack.He just rolled off the yak, and we saw this when he mentioned it by Khalil Shakir. You'll see it in the overtime session.
05:30This was what was happening all night, whether it was Khalil Shakir, or at least in the second half, whether it was Shakir or Ray Davis or Ty Johnson, occasionally James Cook. They were great in yards after catch so great that 196, Nick, of his 210 passing yards,We're yak.All right. The 196 is the third most this season.196 out of 210?Yes.
05:58Yes.It was all.It was all.It was all checkdowns. That's not exactly how air yards work, but what you're saying is correct.93% of his yards were yak. That's the most in an NFL game this season. They average 16 yards per reception in yards after catch.
06:19That's more than five yards.better than the nearest NFLgame. So again,I'm not taking away from it.He has not thrown to football that wellthe last three games, buthe can make up with itwith his legs, make up for it with his
06:36legs, and that's what he did. SoI picked the Rams to win the gameand they obviously could havebut the game also wentsimilarly to how I thought, which wasI thought both teams were able to move the ball.So when similar to how I thought in scorebut not in how it looked. Because I didn't
06:52thing would be Josh only throws the ball 19 times. And Josh, you know, that whole firsthalf, he struggled mightily. They were running, I, they were running a package about the greatnessof Josh Allen mid second quarter. And while they were, came back on camera after discussing it,it showed he had one completion for seven yards. And so here, here is to me what is a fairtruth about Josh Allen in year nine, the superstar quarterback. He is a spotty passer. And by spotty, I mean, he can have a game passing the ball that is as good as anyplayer in the league.
07:37We've seen, we, it's not that he's, so spotty is maybe, let me tweak it.Inconsistent is a, probably the better word, because spotty sounds like it means he'snever excellent. No, but he is not consistently efficient passing the ball.Where he is consistently dominant is the threat with his legs is so omnipresent and so devastatingthat when he is on from a throwing perspective, the offense is basically unguardable. And when he's off from a throwing perspective, which he was for bulks of last night, they still can find a way to 30 some points.my only concern for the bill's offense is and I will use a clumsy video game analogy
08:25but no matter you know what era you're from if you ever played any type of video gameswhether it's a race car game a fighting game anything Pacman Pac-ManPac-Man actually does not have this feature but Space Invaders but Space Invaders I think doesGalaga you usually have a few power boostsYeah, it is Gallagher, not Galangelo. But you usually have a few power boosts that you can use, but they're limited.Yeah, Pac-Man does have those little power pellets. You power pellets, but again, let's not get lost on the DJ.
08:59You mean you just, you embarrass me on TV.Just stick with me.One of the things I've said, and I will invoke the Chiefs only because they have beenthe Bill's kryptonite in the playoffs, that allows the Chief's offense toreach an additional level come the postseason is that's when Patrick fully unleashes hislegs. That's when they add that. That's the little power boost that they have saved up for the biggest games.
09:30The fact that Josh uses it all year out of necessity at times, I think has a couple of negativefactors for them in the playoffs. One, they don't have that extra level to reach because they've been doing.it all year. And two, it might almost prevent them from feeling like they need to fix someof the issues with their passing game at times because he's just fixing it there. The one yearfor the Chiefs that I said early in the year, man, it feels like Patrick is running too much, was lastyear in a year that ended up going to hell on him. And so I am, listen, he's one of the onlyplayers in the league KW that can have an off night and still be excellent. And that's how I would
10:19view that. I would view last night as an off night and he was still excellent. He was almost perfectlate in the game when they, you know, they would have won the first possession of overtime, but James Cook fumbled, not him. But that, those are concerns for me about them on theoffensive side of the ball. And that doesn't even get to what I know. I know we're talking aboutAllen, but your major concerns for them holistically on the defensive side of the ball, which you think are fatal flaws.Well, once James Cook fumbled, I tweeted out perhaps premature.Yeah.
10:50But I thought I was, I thought I was, well, the whole tweet was, I'm not going to tweetthat the Patriots are about to be in first place in the AFC East until the Rams score. And the stadium was on fire because even though they had to go, what about, I don't know,40 yards, 30 yards, they're like, well, certainly.against this bill's defense, we're going to, if not score a touchdown, kick a field goal, which they ended up doing, but it got blocked. So even though the bills ended up winning this game,Brew, I didn't raise an eyebrow about the Patriots being the best team in the
11:26AFC East.Because I think, to be fair, and since I am the Marifair,we talk about the Cowboys as an amazing offense.which has such huge glaring holes in their defense. And, oh, whoa, can we get into a time machine and undo the mica trade? And oh, my goodness. The Cowboys average 27.6 points per game and give up 27.2.And we're like, you know, you can't win that way.
11:58Just close it down. They scored 27.6. They allowed 27.2.Correct.Got it.The Detroit Lions, who we have determined are so bad defensively,They don't even get an editorial breath on the show because they are not a real team.Right.They score 32.8 and allow 29.8.
12:19You're kind of irrelevant. You're just a, even though golfs, I had 12 touchdowns, no, like, you guys aren't real.I didn't, I didn't even say it.I didn't even say it.The bills also average 32.8, and they allow 28.2.they allow basically a point less than the lions. But the lions we throw over there, they actually,
12:45the cowboys actually have a better defense.I wouldn't say.They allow fewer points,but that's not the only metric.But that's,yeah,that's the,I'm a simple guy.
12:54They allow fewer points.I know, okay, there it is.So I think the bills have one way to win. It's Josh Allen. And Josh is like, don't forget,
13:02I can also have Josh Allen, the runner, and we saw that last night. But they also have James, they have, they have, they have, one way to win.
13:10Offense.Offense.Offense.Yeah.But their offense is very versatile. And Josh is far more, as good as Jaredgolf is.And he is playing.
13:20Yeah, he's excellent.Yeah.Josh is on a whole different level.Yeah.Josh is on a different level than Dak.You're right.Jamir is fantastic. But what you saw last night, I mean, that was excessive.
13:32But that can happen regularly with them because Josh is,I don't want him to run for 100 yards a game. No, but.His legs, he's so dangerous with his legs that it will open up all of that yak for other players.Being able to score 37 points without any explosive downfield passing or defensive touchdowns is impressive. Here's my only, an extra 60 seconds.I know we're late. Can you just put up the bill's schedule when you get a chance?
13:57Here's my problem with your overall Bill's pessimism.None of a, Danny's the only one to pick him win the Super Bowl.None of us have it's doing it.They're at four wins through what was supposed to be the hardest part of their schedule. They've got four left against the Jets and Dolphins. Can I put you, can I just, sorry to interrupt so early, what we thought was the hardest part of the schedule just might have been ainaccurate preseason prediction.
14:23That's fine, but then they, and the Chargers are bad.Right, but then, but my point is, but then look at it,then they just don't have a hard part.Like, if we're now just going to be like, teams are what we think they are now.Well, unless the Raiders are.And so then they just don't have a hard part. But they have four left against the Jets and Dolphins. And I know you're going to say they lose a dumb one.
14:45Fine.That's fine.Give them one of those. So now they're at seven. It is very difficult for me to see how they don't get at a minimum to 11 wins,at a minimum to 11 wins. And if they split with the Patriots, which I know going into the year you thought they would,
15:04now you guys played,I thought a very close game that could have gone either way.The Patriot out played them, but the bills had the ball down three late in the game.I just, yeah, and so I just don't, I think you're overly pessimistic on,you can have a flaw that's going to prevent you for winning a championship and still be 12 and 5 and win the AFC East.Yeah, they could. They definitely could.I'm just, I feel like the 28.2 points that they allow, game rubs me the wrong way and everyone else ignores it.
15:39I will give you this. But with the Cowboys, it's front page news.Christian Parker's got to go up to the booth. They got to hire you guys.If the Cowboys were four and one, it wouldn't be.They are winning despite it.The Lions aren't four in one.It is front page, like the bills are doing all that and they're four and one.
15:56And I know they could have lost last night and they could have lost week one.All of those things could have happened, but they didn't.So people don't panic when teams are winning.I'm saying it's, I'm looking at a team with a bad defense and a good office. We're probably giving them a little bit of the benefit of the doubtbecause they have been a good defensive team for basically closer to decade. And I do think they have a better D-line than either of those teams. They just have a terrible back end.
16:21And so we, and they didn't have had Oliver last night.Again, the first half they actually was, they were already defensively. And then it just fell off in the second.Bill's just staying out west for a matchup against the Friskey Raiders next week.On the ram side of thing, Stafford threw the.ball 54 times for over 380 yards, but it came down to a special team's play as a Ramsfield goal in overtime is block. Here's McVeigh on his play calling leading up to the block kick.I'm sick right now with myself and I'm so proud of that group. You know, this is the this is
16:55the tough part of sports, but I'm proud of that team. I'm proud of the way that we battled and I'msick that we came up short and, you know, I'll be I'll be regretting, you know, you know, I'll be regretting, you know, kicking that and not having a better call to be able to go for it on third down and go to fourth or whatever it was.And that's on me.How surprising is the Rands two and three start?I mean, given everything that we've, like Miles Garrett hasn't played for them.Aaron Donald's only played sparingly for them.Puka, who I called, and I think you saw last night where his coach was here after he made fun of me so much.
17:29After Puka missed a game and Devante went off, Puka's indispensable for them.and he has been banged up.You know, Stafford had, I didn't think he was going to have this elite season, but he had a really tough start to the season, even tougher than I just thought. All of those things, now we knew all of those things were possible when you see them all happenand you knew what their first five games stretch was.Two and three was always possible.I do remember us discussing that.
17:57We talked about could they miss the playoffs. The least surprising part of their two and three start is that, special teams have been a huge part of it.And as great as Sean McVeigh is,this is a blind spot for him.Yep. And there isa, one of my big things on this showand in life is, there's a cost
18:15to everything. AndSean McVeigh and Lesneedhave gone about building this team, the bleep them picks philosophyand the stars, you know, for lackof a better term, stars and scrubs roster,if you will, with respect is probablycould have found a better way to say that.
18:33Stars and not.Yeah.Is your back end, which is typically your special teams, guys, are going to besubstandard. And year after year after year, they're terrible at it.
18:48You add to it the bad luck ofyour team didn't spin the wheeland get one of the good kickers. You spun the wheel and got one of the bad kickersand because of that you're spinning the wheel again. Now you're picking up a kicker from the Jets. The Jets are such a well-run franchise. There's just overflowing.
19:03with good kickers. There's only like 12 in the world. The Jets must have extra. That's been a problemfor them forever. That is in the same bucket as the Niners injuries or, hell, Andy, when Andy Reedwas with the Eagles' clock management, like something that just year after year gets them. And it was a big part of the reason they lost last night. It's a big part of the reason they'retwo and three. No, I agree. If you had told us Garrett was going to miss four to first five gamesand be severely hammered in the first game, Aaron Donald.was going to look every bit like a guy who spent the last two yearswatching the games from his couch.
19:39Last night you saw a little more.Yeah, a little more, but still he had that one nice play to sack, but it didn't count because of a penalty. And, you know, of course, Puka missing, what, two games did he miss?Game and a half kind of.But they start slow, too. You're right. The special teams is no surprise.
19:58They brought in a new special teams coach, I believe, and some, you know, changed some things.and it still hasn't changed. But you know what else doesn't change? That Stafford and McVeigh start slow.Last year, three and two, that's their best start through five weeksin the last five years.
20:15They made the playoffs.Year before that, one in four made the playoffs.Year before that, well, you got three and six.I had two and three made the playoffsand then in 2022,they missed the playoffs,
20:28but started two and three. So I think they still assumingthey get healthy, we'll make the playoffs as a wild card team. But they're, you know, they don't look nearly as good as everybody expected even with theinjuries.Quickly, end of the game, they do kick an extra point to just want overtime in the broadcast.Like, yeah, they haven't had a two-point conversion since the 70s.Shaw McVeigh is, like, shocked.
20:57Broadcasts are very incorrect in, they assume because Sean McVeigh is young and good-lookingthat he's aggressive and muscular. And muscular. He's not. He's not. He's never. He's more of a conservative game management guy, which breaks my heart because I like the more aggressive cutting-edge stuff. And given what's happened with my Super Bowl pick Eagles,I could find myself in very short amount of time being an NFC bachelor.
21:26No, not at week. Not at week five.Really? Not at week five. Not at week five, guys.First of all, they're not looking their best right now.Guys, I can't comb your hair before you-These letters are written to me.
21:41I can do nothing about them. This was a bit like in week 14.Put on your best dress or something.KW. I've got, what do you want?Talk to your friend, the Postmaster General.Block them. There's nothing I can do.You think I want to get letters after last night?
21:58No, you got to read the cover.Who's it to?Read who is two? It's to Nick.No.From you know who. It's not to Nick. It's to Nikki.
22:10There's a different.Full story if you're just a little background.Years ago, Nick flirted with picking the ramps to go with the Super Bowl.Yeah.And then this bit developed with all sorts of uncomfortable innuendo about Nickand aidea.Yeah.
22:34We're like all of a suddenthis ideais like orderingbreakfast at his hotel room somehow.I'm married, bro.And there's lipson it at all times. This isn't the time for the letter.
22:49Dear Nicholas,I saw you were up.What?I saw you're up late.Hope it wasn't watching us.Sad face.We are so embarrassed.That never...
23:03This is weird. That never happens.Promise.Please don't lose faith in us.Forever yours.Rams to the Super Bowl. And again, with the lips, which if I don't know how the lips get on here, that might be hubs as...
23:19Hubs might be in the bathroom, putting on lipstick and kissing a piece of legal paper.I'm not sure.I just get this sight unseen.Listen, I...Are you considering...abandoning the Eagles.Certainly, the bylaw said of the first ballot Hall of Fame were retired midseason.
23:36I'm free.If he had known LeBron wasn't going to play tight-in for him, he would have never picked him in.I don't know. The NFC is looking like a barren wasteland right now, except for the Niners. And I don't think we've got.The Niners' Roses would make sense because they're red, but I don't think they'd take me.The Rams clearly have a thing. The Rams to the Super Bowl take has a thing for me.
23:57It seems like it.It seems like you guys have had.We have quite a history.Okay.All right.Do you like? We're not doing it?I had a great little saying.
24:08We're going to do it.Is it time to dock the boat?Drew is mad.We haven't talked. Is it time to dock the boat?No one knows what you're talking about over a video of Jalen Hertz.Check on the podcast. If it get a chance, it's just been great.
24:28John and her whole team are just doing an excellent job.She says that we're number one on several of these, but when I click on the charts, we're not number one.So I don't know if it's some sort of a glitch in the...We're number among amongst young people. You get the old people charts.I get the elderly charts.Yeah, exactly.
24:44It comes in print to my house.Check them out. They're excellent.Meanwhile, we're picking up the pieces of the commander's clock management debaclethat led to a tie with the Giants. Here's Dan Quinn with another explanation on how the last play went down.Is it new?Don't tell me it's new.
25:02You've got to stick with it as a whole thing.I'm the one that starts that communication, but it has to be everybody top down all the way through, man. From each play, this we're going to do next. And so we're talking a little bit ahead of the call.On the next one we're going to clock. The next one's must out of bound. So having the conversations in the huddle, that's a big deal.
25:22And it definitely looked like the urgency of what I expected from us in that spot.there. So that's the part that pisses you off the most. You know what's bad when you bring your laptop to the press conference?Greg? How did how in your mind did this go down?First and foremost, it was he's right.Everybody's to blame. But I listened.
25:47I wanted to make sure that every I listened to most of the guys who had an opportunityto be out on the field or on the sideline during that on the offense side.I listened to Trey Berks and his response in this post.his post conference, and then obviously Jaden, obviously Dan Quinn.Jayden wanted top-down communication.Yeah, he did.Which I didn't, you got to own it.It really seems, based on, especially Trayland Verges,
26:16if you listen to him and his response, I don't know if they all knew.I'm not sure it was communicated to everyone. They knew what? They didn't have timeouts and what they were actually trying to get done. That's what that's something stupid, which is shocking. As a, as I'm sitting at home.I know they don't have, like, when you're in like the fog of the game, is it like, are you so focused that you lose that I don't know how you're like,
26:45you play at the highest level. This is the tough question to ask. Some guys are.My experience, I played on a team with guys.Everyone knew what was going on.And definitely our quarterback knew what was.going on. At the end of the day, if no one understood what was trying to be accomplished, the quarterback has to erase all the misunderstanding. It's because it's his job. Because that's,
27:12that is why you have the headset on. That is why you run the offense. No one else gets to speakin the huddle but the quarterback. So I'm not putting it exclusively on Jaden. But in this moment,he has to wear a lot of the blame because you are the one that's communicating.to everyone and expected to communicate to everyone. On this play, though, I think he just gets razzled because he gets stepped on it.I don't think anyone pays attention to it.His left guard steps on his foot.He kind of stumbled so he doesn't get a true drop back.
27:47And they're in man. They're in kind of an empty look.So Kavon Tibido drops in the flat and he thought he was going to rush. And so everything kind of gets a little fumbled in his mind.and I think he just loses where he's at, the time. But he also does not get up.He doesn't get up.He didn't know.
28:06And so great, if he doesn't know, and I agree with you, and that's his fault. But it's also the guy who's in his ear on the headset's fault. Why has not David Blow been telling him for 50 seconds? We got no timeouts. We're going to clock it at 15 or whatever it is.Like, I put it on mostly on David Blah.I'm not absolving Jaden. It's bad because you're right, Nick,
28:31that's his job as a quarterback. But I'm just saying you have an earpiece for things like that too.A couple weeks ago against the Bears,we watched before the half Jalen Hertz make a decision. That was on his own because he had the wherewithal to understand. What was going on?I'm not going to have enough time to spike it.This is me and my center.
28:54It's really just me.I'm going to sneak it in.He knew.He was the only one that knew what he was going to do.What I'm saying is, regardless of the communication,Jaden has to make a decision that is best for our team. And it's, I don't disagree with it.So I did not think yesterday that what I said, which is that this, you know,
29:17this will stick with Jaden for, for me, forever's a long time, but for a long time.Like the ability, I said, if I were a commander's fan, I'd never look at him the same way.I did not think that was going to be outside of the mainstream of takes yesterday. And Bruce's instant reaction, I was like, oh, maybe this is harsher than, you know, than I thought it was going to be.And then I saw every, like, I kind of surveyed the landscape. And most people were blaming the coaching staff primarily with Jaden as a subset. And I'm stunned by that.
29:48So I, Jaden Daniels, first of all, he's a young player, kind of.Yeah.Same high school class as Kyle Hamilton. We don't look at Kyle Hampton, some babe in the woods.Played five years in college, this is his third year in the pros.He turns 26 this season. He's played a lot of football. Also, I am old enough to remember an actual very young quarterback having one really
30:13rough moment and being universally excoriated and it has defined him.Anthony Richardson, I need out, tapped out of the game. And it's like that.He hasn't had nearly the success that Jayden. No, no, no.Hold on.If he had had Daniel's success, people wouldn't be remembered.I don't even think it's that.
30:33It's just the difference in the situations. And what I'm saying, so like I, and again, I am not saying that I think this willprevent Jaden from having success.I do not think this will define him as a player. But I now am convinced that his.awareness rating is something he needs to greatly work on. He did not know what was happening. You can't, and it is very hard for me to believe that at no point in this entire possessionor in the sideline going up to it was he made aware that they didn't have timeouts.
31:20But the other thing about it is you're the quarterback. You're watching the team play.Like I didn't, there were seven games.Last night, last night, the Rams got fortunate that they scored. You know the play on top.I wish we could have film.At the end of the first half.At the end of the game.
31:40And they, I mean, that clock was running down with one of the smartest coaches, Sean McVeigh. You talk about a veteran, Matthew Stafford at quarterback. If they get stuffed on.that play and don't have time to call time out. They had time out left. They weren't using it.We're talking about them the exact same way.Nothing is like this.
32:01No, this is terrible. But they were letting that clock run down. You would be killing them. But there was a strategy associated with it.It was not a strategy. They were not.To me, they looked like that clock was running down too far.No, I think I agree with you.
32:17I think they over did it.But there was a reason they were doing.it, which was they were trying to do what they did, which is give Josh in the last two weekswe've seen a seven second comeback and eight second come back. They were trying to make sure Josh didn't get the ball back.I can't get over Jaden laying on the ground. He didn't understand the circumstance. And so when you watch the tape, it's more than just Jaden though.
32:47But it's his job to tell the team.I understand.Everybody's running back? The only person that gets on the ball is 87, tight-in right at the top. He's running back right now.He is in a couple, in the other tight-in down at the bottom.Jaden was kind of, and again, in between plays.Once the play is dead, you get a couple seconds and then your headset reopened.
33:11It almost shows in this moment where he's laying on the ground, his head's at open, and everybody's like, David Blah, probably, you know.yelling at him, got to get on the ball, got to get on the ball.Because he's right now, and then all of a sudden he, oh, I remember.Oh, shoot. And so again, but they had the first down, Traylenberg's, go back to the first down.He gets the first down. They run the ball.
33:36They have like 40-something seconds.52 seconds when that play is.And in that moment, Jaden is looking to the sideline, hand in his hand warmers, and he's looking with no urgency again. So that tells me their community.communicating a lot to him. They're not just calling a play. They're telling him everything just in case for the,
33:57they're preparing him.So you think they told him?Absolutely. He just had a brain. You do not,you do not just call one play. Now, they're subbing and obviously Dan Quinn has mentioned that.I don't love that.
34:09I don't love that they're subbing.I don't love that they call a motion play.I don't think they set him up to succeed. So you can do all of those things if you had a time out,if you're coming out the time out.But with this clock, stop. Like you could run, you could have this run play happen, get back on the ball, spike it,the clock is dead. The clock is stopped. You have two more down still. And then proceed to do
34:33whatever it is you think is necessary or that benefits you as an offense. But to do it and justlet the clock continue to trickle down, it just, it just was mind blowing. And then you take thesnap, get stepped on, Kvon Tibados in your throwing lane. And you still decide toto run it instead of throw it away, that's the decision that is tough for meas someone who understandsquarterbacks in the level of IQ that you have to have, and I'm not taking a shot at him.
35:01In that moment, he did not have.It doesn't mean he doesn't have a high IQor he's not a smart human being.Correct.His situational awareness in that moment...Was not there. And it's...The situational awareness in that moment
35:15was below the level you would acceptfrom a collegiate.Egypt player. You would not,if this happened in a,in a Friday nightcollege game.Yeah, I'll keep going down.
35:28Yeah, I mean, again, and so again, that is not a statementabout the person's actual intelligenceor even football intelligence. But the situational awareness is,you know,
35:38I won't name names, but one of my favorite quarterbacks, not Patrick, but one of my favorite quarterbacks,I'm not sure how good he would doon a general knowledge test. But I think his situationalawareness, I would say that, but I think it's situational awareness.
35:54You know what I mean?Really, the prince?Yeah, that's the only other part of that.Got it, guys.What?What are you doing?Like, I don't know.I saw it on the highlight.
36:04You always get, you always get applauded. So I say, I'm going to the prince does it.Man, there's eight minutes left. What do you?All right.Well, let's head to, let's head to Philadelphia.Eagles left London in a fog after having won and lostthe game within eight seconds.
36:22It's a raincoat joke. Thanks. So was that just another game or a turning point for the entire franchise?Philly voice writer Jimmy Kempski says quote, time to reset.Headline the Eagles should punt on the 2026 season.Trade still valuable players for future assets.Kempsey lists possible trades of Seqwan, Zach Vaughn, Landon Dickers, and DallasGoddard, Nolan, Smith, and Rick Wollen amongst others.Your reaction to this idea.
36:50understand it because obviously for I mean the injuries the you know the retirement of lanejohnson just the performance on the field they don't look like they're capable of getting tothe super bowl let alone winning it and in philly they've already won one they've been to tworecently it's all about winning the super bowl it's not about being winning the division andgetting to the playoffs and losing that said it's five games in the division the division is bad youcan't tell me they couldn't win the division. And then, as you said earlier, Nick, the NFC, I mean, outside of San Francisco, which we know, who knows what happened with injuries with them, the conference doesn't look that great.
37:33That if I'm Philly, I understand what he's saying, but I'm like, you know what, let's getinto the tournament and take a shot. What if they lose this week?Like, is there a point where you could change it?It would be, yeah, they're not going to be eliminated from the division race anytime soon.Like that's going to be open. They'd have to be, to me, two in five, two and six to really start wanting to do this.As a former player, punning on the season five games in is just off the board.
38:05And when I watched this team, there was moments in that game where I felt like despite who was out there, Jalen Hertz was playing some of his best ball.I'm like, wow, okay, didn't have obviouslyDevonte Smith out there, didn't have Sequin. He was kind of, it was Dallas Goddard, Wicks, and a bunch of other young guys. And so obviously we know what's going on with their offensive line. And I felt like, okay, I can, I see you, Jalen. And then the third quarter hits, and we know what they do in the third quarter. But for me to sit here and say, with Seekwine being healthy,
38:42with DeVante Smith being back on the field, this is a team.just because they're having some offensive line woesand the core of who they've always been at the strength, that offensive line isn't what it used to be.You're going to pun on the season? No, absolutely not.Specifically because you mentioned the division.I understand it's not about winning the division for the Philadelphia Eagles.
39:06But in order to get into the dance, the one guaranteed thing that gets you in is winning the division. There are a couple of breaks and maybe, bad decisions from being four and one.And having played the last two games against playoff teams, what we think, the Rams and theJags. They were in, and, you know, they were 90 plus percent win probability late in both of thosegames.
39:29There were, you know, 98 percent with five seconds left in the Jags game.Everything you guys are saying is smart. The reason that they have to strongly consider this, however, is KW, do you get the NFLtransaction?wire emailed to you every morning and scour it the way I do?Direct to the junk.Really? So, you know, it's one of my first things.
39:54You know, do the New York Times crossword, then read the transaction wire word for word. You know who hasn't shown up on it as retired yet, Greg?Who's that?Lane Johnson. You know why?Eagles won't let it.Because they are in, they have done so many plate spinnings of future salary cap dollars.that they're like, Lane, here's the deal.
40:18Appreciate you, and we know you're retired. We're not doing this because we're holding out hope you come back. We're doing this because we can't take the financial hit right now,so we're going to have a 52-man roster this year.We are going to field a 52-man roster for the rest of the seasonbecause we need to delay your official retirement until the off-season.We're going to spread out the cap hit.one of the reasons how he did it again is a thing
40:47is because Howie has an owner in Jeffrey Luriethat allows him to write a ton of checksthat future Howie is going to have to cash on the salary cap books. The Eagles have planned for that. They know that's comingand they know that that downturn is potentially comingin a couple years when all this money hits.Man, if you're not actually going to be able to compete
41:11for a championship, this year, takingsome of that medicine nowso when you expected your down yearto be in a couple years, you're actuallyin the, hey,we have a bunch of young players because we'vetraded, we've already got those future picks.
41:26They are just in a trickierspot than most teamswho had a bad opening monthof the year and are in a weak divisionbecause they havea looming salarycap issue that they knewwas coming, but they anticipated
41:42we'll be fine with it because we're going to be competing for championships in 26 and 27 anyway. If they're nowhere close to that, accelerating that downturn might be in their interest in a way it wouldn't be for most teams. So I'm curious, they're not going to do it right now, but Sequin, you know, what's his value to someone else in the league?Dallas Goddard, those are interesting pieces.Three of their next four games are at home. They host the Panthers off a buy next.Josh Allen, 320 total yards, two touchdowns. Was it enough to work himself back onto Brew's ballot after just a rough ballot last week?
42:18That was a great battle.A low point in the ballot.I thought Trevor should have been on over Kirk. But aside from that, I thought it was a good.Kurt? You had Kurt cousins on the ballot?Your fifth last last week.It was.
42:29He was only leading the league in touchdown passes. It wasn't a great ballot.Brew, I had your back. All right. You'll like this, Nick.Number five, the Prince.Thank you.I don't even like it that much.
42:42They're four and one, all right?Yeah, but he's playing well. He's top five in passer rating. He's awesome.Yards per attempt and touchdowns. And those are all career highs.Or he's on pace to have a career high and touchdowns, but career high and everything else,
42:56even completion percentage, but he hadn't always been high, 67%.So he's having a good seat.Bonus take on number five, Greg,Prince to Parker Washington right now.Oh, my God.Parker Washington, look here. It's a top five duo right now.
43:10Parker Washington quit plan.you better, if you don't know him, that is why that man is five and he's been having the run that he's been having. So Parker should get more. And remember he turned down. No, I'm not taking that. And Brew, remember he turned down 25 million a year in the offseason said I deserve more. He's going to, he's going to get more. He's going to get more.
43:27He's tough. He's tough.Number four, Jamir Gibbs.Oh, I like that.Yeah, Jemir Gibbs.Look, his quarterback, Jared Goff is having a great year.No question. But Gibbs is on, you know what I say.
43:42If it's not a quarterback, it has to be something historic. He's leading the league in yards from scrimmage, 149 per game, a little more than that. He's on pace to set the all-time record for yards from scrimmage.2,540 is what he's on pace for. That would break Chris Johnson's record in 2009 with the Tennessee tights. He's also leading all nine quarterbacks and touchdowns with nine. He's only got two games of rushing over 100 yards, but he's always big in the past game,
44:14so he's huge, whether it's in the past game or the rush game.So I'm going to give him some credit. At number three, back on the ballot, Josh Allen.I mean, look, he didn't do it with his arm last nightor a little short pass. His teammates helped him out.But his legs were huge.It was a very good game,
44:35maybe a great game last night that he had against a top team,we think. And so I had to put him back on the ballot. At number two, no movement. Kenneth Walker, the third, on pace to set a record, the Russian record, all-time Russian record before season. And then, of course, at number one, everybody's MVP at this point. I think he'd be unanimousright now among quarterbacks. It's certainly among quarterbacks. Some people might vote forKenneth Walker, but among quarterbacks, he'd be unanimous. So, Brock Purdy at number one.five. Count them.Five pass attempts away
45:12from becoming the all-time leaderin passing rating by a mile.Lamar's currently leader at 102.7,Purdy's at 105.4.Which means even if he goes 0 for 5,I think he's going to get it.And he's leading the league in pass rateright now, leading the league in touchdowns.
45:28Well, congratulations. The Gibbs thing feels to melike a sneak diss of Jared Gough. No, remember I went with golf a couple ofweeks ago. You did, which is the only reasonwhy I'm not... You agree with me.It's a bit of a sneak disc. But when you watchit, I mean, look, I could have went with
45:46golf. Like I said, I did a few weeks ago.But Jemiris electric. He is. He's huge. You know, I have noproblem if somebody wants to sayit should have been golf. Because he justkeep putting up great. I have no problem with youhave in Gibbs because it's
46:02one of those two has to beon that. Yep. Are youKW quickly? Are you cool withJosh Allen getting all the way up to number three?Well, yeah, if you have a game where you complete 12 passes. So he should be on the ball 15 yards?Should he not be on the floor? No.
46:19Does running, running doesn't.As I've always said on this show since I was a little boy,one of the best things you can have for your MVP race is a terrible defense. That's why I had DAC as my MVP like.Purdy's got a great defense. He's a walker's got a very good defense. No, but he was a little boy.Because I was a little boy.
46:37I'm like, you know what?I have this guy MVP.Terrible defense. We've got to light it up.Coming up next, oh, a cold, cold segment.Mahomes Mountain.Don't forget, are we part of Fox Tover Fest, do you think, or is it only the live events?I'd be thrilled if I was part of October Fest.
46:55Live from New York, it's the show that went a little bit too long on Rams Bills. So we had to move our is Otani going to be benched question to later in the show. And Brew has been itching to say the one good line that he has for this, which isn't even a take.It actually seems like a question that I should ask.So go ahead, Brew. The floor is yours.Well, I call him the boat, the best of all time.
47:21And is it time for them to dock the boat? There you go.See, Greg loved it.Nick loved you loved it.Well, I'm a good teammate.I don't hit you with that.Exactly.I should have done that.
47:34Because mine was funny. That was legitimately funny.Second hour of first things first today.Did we just watch a Super Bowl preview? No.In Los Angeles, we may have according to the odds in stadiums, right?Meanwhile, this is just fantastic.Friend of the show, Ben Solak tweet.
47:54Is he friends of the show?I've never talked to him. We're interacting with him, but maybe. Is trading Justin Herbert on the board?Holy cow. That's a good topic. It's going to be a great topic. But right now we're headed to the mountain.
48:10Well, 10 seconds for me to do Mahomes Open.Mahomes Mountain Open, I meant, Hubs.Which means that today's mountain, there's three seconds.Mahomes Mountain's coming up.Mahomes' mountains coming up in a second.Missed it.That's on me.That's on, you know what, actually?
48:27It's on you, hubs. That's on you. It's on one of us.But you're in charge on you.Not on me.Not on Hubs. You're such a fan of class.management. And we didn't even get in our long Bill's Rams discussion the
48:42bill's inexplicable and indefensible decision not to run the clock down inovertime to 20 seconds for kicking their field goal. God knows TylerBass would never miss 45-yarder. They missed that kick. All of a sudden,Stafford's got two minutes. Joe Brady was so excited. He's like,oh, just go kick it now. Nobody knows what they're doing. Nobody knows how tomanage the clock, which is why I'm proud to announcethe Nick Wright Clock Management Seminar.Oh, coming this summer.
49:10How much?$50,000 a person.It's actually smart.And you know what?And offensive coordinators,head coaches, and quarterbacks are all welcome.It's three days.You pitch you back?
49:20Well, I don't know.Seahawks are taking it.Yeah, exactly. And it's going to cost you your job.Like, I don't know. You make $5 million years in NFL head coach is 1%.1% to not be made a fool of.Time for the mountain.
49:36Off the mountain.Injured and off the mountain because of performance.Injured, Lamar should be back.Caleb should be back.Baker should be back.Jackson Dart won't be back.Off the mountain for performance.Right to left, oddly.
49:48Cam Ward and Leek Willis, Tyson, Bayesian, yikes.Wow.And Justin Herbert, who I don't see how he, like,I took Drake May off the mountain early in the yearbecause he had been really bad, but also kind of needle and wild.It was more of like a motivation.Yeah, yeah.Herbert's just off the mountain because right now he's not one of the 28 best quarterbacks in the league.
50:13He's just consistently, they got the ball back down six in this. They had plenty of opportunities, but they got the ball back down six.And I was not, it was as if my feeling about their chances of coming back were no different than if the Broncos were taking knees.I was like, well, they have no shot whatsoever.I don't know what's wrong. We'll talk about him later.bottom of the mountain, Jalen Hurts has to fall again.I understand there's a lot of things working against him.
50:45The injuries, the retirement, the head coach, I get it.The offense also, though, is not functional. And his whole thing had been, hey, the stats might not be pretty, but we're winning. On a three-game losing streak, you don't have that either, he tumbles a bit.Daniel Jones is Sean Watson drop a bit.Bow Nix, Gino, Smit, Jacoby, Rosset, James Winston.and they're probably bottom row guys.Just like, it's no problem.
51:11Probably not going to be off the mountain, but probably just bottom row guys at this point in their careers.Sixth row.Fair is fair.Move them up.Kyler.Finally got a little juice in that offense.Nice little touchdown pass to Justin Jefferson.
51:25Looked good for his first time in a Vikings uniform. He moves up.Tyler Huntley, maybe he needs to take the mantleas the best backup quarterback in the league. He's got a lot of experience.they went about half the games with him.Like, there's no, I, obviously they did not look like they do with Lamar, but they didn't look like a knee-capped operation that had no chance to move in the ball.
51:48He moves up.Sam Darnold has not looked great yet this year. And last year and the year before has bought him a benefit of the doubt that I did not thinkSam Darnold will be able to have. But the benefit of the doubt is shrinking just a bit. It's a shrunk of tongue. It's shrinking just a bit.He drops.
52:08Tyler Shuck, maybe it turns out a lot of the optimism was playing the Detroit Lions. And when teams play the Detroit Lions, like Tyler Shuck's a legit star quarterback,Josh Allen's the best quarterback we've ever seen, Dax's the MVP of the league.Like playing the Detroit Lions can do a lot for whomever is on the other side of playing those lions, something there.Jail and Daniels.Shout out to Jalen Daniels for Thursday night football. And Jalen Daniels's delightful interview with his mother that I liked a lot.Jaden Daniels.
52:44Back on the mountain because you're healthy again. The stuff you did with your legs in this game was actually really dynamic.Yeah.And there were a lot of positive moments.I can't get over the ending.I understand all probably David Blow's fault.I like my quarterbacks have, you know,an idea of what quarter it is,
53:06what the rules are, if you have timeouts.Fifth row.KW, look at Drake, May.That's just beginning. That's what I, exactly. The steady climb back up the mountain. He almost got row four.Almost.
53:21It's not left to right, but he almost.Six touchdowns.Well, again, maybe, but he almost got it.He was, he was, but row five feels goodafter five touchdown performance.Aaron Rogers playing really well.Fair is fair and two of his last three games, he's been excellent.CJ Stroud stays where he is, even though they finally got a win.
53:42They were playing the Titan, so it's like three quarters of a win.But he's been consistent all year. He's playing really well this year. And Pinnock's, worry about Pinnock's and got hitting the ribs.I don't know if he's going to miss time or not, so he's not off the mountain for injury. But he, after a shaky early part of that game, I thought looked really sharp against Baltimore. And if he doesn't get hurt, maybe they win, I don't know. And Kurt Cousins falls from on Bruce's ballot to the fifth row of the mountain feels fair.
54:08Fourth row.Bryce had a bye week, so stays where he is.I know you might not like this KW.Stafford moved up in a loss.I thought Stafford's really good.Dak moves down after a, you know, awful Thursday night football team performance. He wasn't awful, but he wasn't great. And Jordan Love.
54:27Holy moly, how about that possession?I'm chucking it deep.Oh, offensive pass interference.I'm chucking it deep again.Oh, it's just dropped.I'm doing it again.Touchdown.Jordan Love looked really good.
54:37Thanks for being John. And right.I can't wait to talk Packers Bears with Danny at some point.Jordan Love moves up.Third row.Made it on Bruce Bellet, but drops on the mountain.Wow.I think that's savvy.
54:50I don't know about savvy. There's no strategy to it.It's just fair, accurate cogent analysis.Savvy to see.But I didn't think Trevor was great in that game.I thought the fourth and five throw to Parker, Washingtonand was awesome, but also that was an unbelievable catch. And there's no shame in being on row three.
55:07Look at who he's with.Josh Allen, who despite only completing 12 passes, as KW pointed out,was dynamic in that fourth quarter in overtime and was deadly with his legs all game. And Joe Burrow with just, I'm just going to say it again, I'm going to say an interesting yearwhere I don't, he hasn't made like terrible mistakes and he obviously has been good.but by his standards, the numbers are just good and not great. And that's with the fact that I do believe,if we were to say,
55:39what were the sixth best plays of this NFL season?Three of them were by his receivers in the last few weeks. And so I think Higgins and Chase are doing a lot this year.Burroughs obviously still great.Teams good, not great yet. He's row three.A change in row two, Brew.I think the highest this person's ever been.
56:00Wow.Jared Gough. He might not be on Bruce's ballot. They're scoring more points than anyone in the league. They have one of the most efficient offenses ever. He's not turning the ball over. He's been fantastic. They have to score these types of points because even's that bad.
56:16It's not left to right.Brock Purdy, oddly, however, does move from the right side to the left-hand side.It has to move.I'm not sure. You're not sure?I'm not sure.I don't make the left-to-right decision. But you should have an explanation.
56:30I don't do the graphics. He just submits it in the graphics.Ian does it.I just email a list of names and then they fill up.You don't put you don't put them in any order?I actually just put them top down and they figure it out.I don't know. It's random.
56:45I'm surprised every time. There has to be.Is this a bit? What do you blame everybody?Like wilds?I'm not blamed. There's no blame. They have to have an order.
56:53If they were all just in a single file line, you wouldn't know who is seen. It's a circular. It's like a nice round table. And a top, listen, Brock Purdy almost moved up to the top.He was brilliant in the fourth quarter of that game and in late in that game. However, it also was the lowest passer rating he's had this year, the fewest yards he's had this year, the first time he was intercepted this year. And I felt like, is that really the performance?
57:29Well, it's the first, I'm saying.By the statistical metrics, while I thought he was very impressive late, it was his worst game of the year. And I was like, would Brock want the performance to catapult him to the top of the mountain to be, his worst performance of the year?It almost felt unfair.Yeah.Like to do that.I'd rather it be maybe next week when he takes the all-time passer rating elite.I don't know.
57:54But it's still atop the mountain because unlike Brock Purdy, he was not intercepted this week.Patrick Mahomes.Greg, your thoughts on the mountain?Overall, you've been doing a heck of a job on the mountain.Thank you.I am going to give credit, and I know you don't make massive leaps.Like, you typically don't allow a guy to jump two spots.Yeah, usually not.
58:17Yeah, certainly never. But you mentioned he didn't throw a pick in Mahomes last week because he was on a buy.Well, there's a guy who hasn't thrown a pick at all, but leaves the league.or second in touchdown. That's Jared golf. You want golf on top of the mountain?I'm going to tell you what. Why?
58:35We've been given a lot of credit to the prince, rightfully so.Purdy, rightfully so.And where's Jared golf in the mix of all of this?Just second in passing yards, as always.Typically, he's like first.First, second in touchdowns.First and no thrown interceptions. That ended up itself.
59:00for how much he throws the ball.So he should be number one?He should be atop the mountain.Wow.He should be atop the mountain. When you look at his,you talk about historic things that happen.Right?
59:13You talked about it in your ballot.Like, this right here, and again, regardless of how you feel about Russell Wilson, but 12 touchdown passes, zero interceptions through first five games, two guys.Wow.Those are the two.
59:32Jared Gough has, and again, on your Bruce ballot, Gibbs golf, well, one of the reasons why Gibbs is having a successful yearis because he has a quarterback that can put him in position.I'm not trying to take credit away from Gibbs, but there's a level of lack of appreciation, I would say, because of the style in which Jared Gough has to playin comparison to other quarterbacksthat we just never really give.
01:00:00him the boost that we would give somebody that can extend plays with his legs, that itlooks a little more sexy. That's not Jared's golf game. But what is his game is he's always going to be Mr. Consistent, completion percentagegoing to be there. He's going to throw a lot of touchdowns, a lot of yards. What did you say he's going to be?Mr. Consistent.
01:00:19Okay.Yeah, not, not, no.You, you hold that. You're the one that holds that. All right, well, I would like to make an announcement. You can show the mountain. There are a handful of ways one can earn atop the mountain eligibility. This is a new thing.
01:00:41It's always been there. It's just never come up.It's always been there.People are eligible.Brew and I have disgusting.Just like you and I have little off-air meetings.Brew and I do as well. You're not involved in that.
01:00:53About what?Who's eligible?Because of the cardinals?No.No, not at all.Well, why does it say?Leave a little pedic.Win over the card.
01:01:00No, no, no, though. Again, I don't do the graphics.Ian does.He didn't make up Jared's game as golf the charts. No, I didn't do that either. But I have a significant announcement that I'm being seriously.Okay.There are ways you can become eligible to be atop the mountain. He won a Super Bowl.
01:01:16That's what made Jalen Hertz eligible. He had never even considered him.It made Sam Darno eligible for a week. You can win league MVP.You can be perennial hive-mind consensus, Mount Rushmore type, like Burrow or Allen or Lowe.Lamar, Alan and Lamar obviously have the MVP's.Different ways you can do it.
01:01:35You can be...Get to a Super Bowl?Potentially.Another way you can just fight your way up there is multiple weeks, row two.So Brock Purdy last week was his second week on row two.He became top of Mountain eligible.Jared Gough is one week away from being top of Mountain eligible. What do you mean?
01:01:59Separate segment.I'm just telling you, again, these guys made fun of me.I didn't get it.Drake made's top of mountain eligible.Of course he.Yes, exactly. But Tyler Huntley's not.Does that make sense?
01:02:13True.Well, look, had I known where Greg was going, I would have made another graphic. But I like that he, you put golf atop.I like that you are messing with the top of the mountain. But the guy who should really be on top is Brock Purdy. We all know it.If the MVP vote was right now, liar?He would be a liar.
01:02:41Nick's a, again, that's dusty.Everybody's throwing everybody under the bus this week.If the vote were today, we all know.Kenneth Walker might get a few votes. But if you're talking about quarterbacks,I don't think any other quarterbacks getting to vote for number one.Can I tell you something?Josh Allen could be retired for seven years and someone will vote for NB.
01:03:05Oh, I disagree.Justin Herbert's one vote.But go ahead.He's undefeated despite facing the Rams, the Broncos, the Seahawks, all right?He is...Something good.Yeah, something good.He's...
01:03:23Mahomes...I know, my chicken scratch.Mahomes has more yards.after the catch, despite playing one fewer game than Purdy.I don't know that that's a knock on the homes. No, it's-throwing guys open.Well, or-
01:03:39yards after catch, you just told me got Josh Allen on third spot in Bruce Ballet. No, but it was, no, it was his legs that got him third spot on Bruce Ballet. So I got some graphics. Here's the season comparison of Brock and Patrick.Brock's just got him in everything except yards per game. But yeah, but the touchdowns again, Patrick hasn't played as many games.Passer ratings huge.Feels pretty huge.
01:04:07Honestly, it's closer than I thought. But the way we talk about Brock.13 points higher.Completion percentage, which is always big.And then they've had Greg some like opponents, some same opponents. So here's what they each did against the Broncos.Patrick team scored 31.Patrick was much burdened.
01:04:27Patrick orchestrated a 31.The passer rating because Kenneth Walker went berserk.Oh, okay.Patrick set the tone by running people over in the end.He was crazy.Patrick completed 55% of his power. He was on one leg.And then they both played the dolphins.
01:04:42Oh, God.What they do?Oh, Brock completed 91% of his passes.I don't know.Look at that yards per pass.13.Patrick threw a pick.Brock almost a perfect pass rate.
01:04:54I mean, it's just,it's obvious. He's eligible. He's been on the second.roll for a few weeks now.Brock Purdy should be at the top dog.All right. That's a good way to do it.
01:05:07Like a ponies.Here's the problem.And then you go KW.Don't cut out KWs.I want to hear it.I have to.No, I want to hear.No, I need 20 seconds here.
01:05:19Much like as happened sometimes. We have, you know, the midterms coming up in election season. You guys vote. You guys, you guys, you guys, you guys, you guys, you guys, cancel each other. And so Patrick, despite not having the majority, just he went.He ran out of pose. And then the Purdy and golf, the Purdy and golf fact is a whole of a sudden.
01:05:42Everybody agrees he should be at least two.Exactly.Frank Choice voting. It just really hurt you guys.Go ahead.Okay.Look.When this guy pops up on a podcast, I don't know if I'm clicking on it, but he can
01:05:54throw the football still.Aaron Rogers should flip with.Matthew Stafford. I do have an issue with losing the game. Even though it's not yourfault, you lose the game. You don't deserve to move up. Flip with Dak then.Flip with with Dak already went down a notch. Okay. Farron. You can't move up. Great job.You lost the game. You thought they won. Well, they should have won, but also that wedon't have one two-point conversion play. Shaw McVeigh is like remembering plays fromwhen he was five years old and spouting him off. Here, drop a two-point conversion play
01:06:26that works. You could win the game. You got Josh Allen out there, and youyour defense getting shredded.Any event. He played after they looked horrible against the Patriots.I was like, this guy is moving from washed, watch to potentially just straight up washed. Not true. His last three games, he's thrown nine touchdowns. It's a first time since 2021.
01:06:51You don't like that?No, I like it a lot.Oh, okay.I like it a lot.I was surprised by it.I didn't realize it was three touchdowns in each.He's out here, ball.His pass ratings.
01:06:59101. I don't know what's going on.So that means even in his bad game, wow, that'sinteresting, because I knew two his last three games, he'dbeen excellent, and I didn't realize he threw three in the...They're at Tampa Bay this week. That's a dub. And then they've gottwo home games against the Saints and Browns. He's eight and three...
01:07:14Why is it at Tampa a dub?I don't believe in Tampa. You believe in Tampa Bayall of a sudden? I mean, all of a sudden. I picked him to win11 games. They've got to start winning. JalenDaniels looks good. He's going to bethe Tampa Bay Buccaneers.Eight and three at home, so he's got the Browns and the Saints at home. You can look up all of a sudden, is like, are the Steelers six and two with Aaron Rogers?
01:07:36Here's the other thing I'm always got my eyes open for outside of like minor injuries to superstars.Narrative watch. We are on the cusp of having to have a new and interesting conversation about Aaron Rogers. When we look back, it's like, well, he was obviously great with the Packers, but then fell off, played, hung around a little bit too long, popped as Achilles, and he was just never, you know, even close to being who he was.
01:08:10Like, no, he's actually just a good quarterback. He's in as far as, like, being 40 years old,it's just Tom Brady and then Aaron Rogers. He's ball and he's thrown 8,000.So he's the second best 40 plus.62 touchdowns at 40 is nothing to shake a stick at.So look. How is he 43?
01:08:27Being the second best, being number two, out of a four guy.No, it's not four guys. It's not four guys. It's every guy. You're just choosing not to play.Yeah.Oh, his longevity is admirable. How about that?
01:08:43Okay.It's not just a four guy.Who's the second best 42 year old basketball?I was thinking of guys who played multiple seasons after age 40.You're saying anybody put up and they all retired.Yeah, that's the broad.Robert Parrish is second best. He's basically like LeBron.
01:08:55It's not like LeBron, but he's like second best.Sunday NFL action on Fox Bears taking on Bijon in the Falcons or you might see Cardinals taking on the ramps. All part of Fox Toberfest, one of my favorite fests.Sunday on Fox.Welcome back to the show.Monday night football.Bills win a barn burner.Josh has 331 total yards and about 20 air yards.
01:09:21Got a lot of yak, yacked it up and was running all over the field.Their defense, the bill's defense, allowed 30.34 points, which moves them to the fifth worst scoring defense in the league at 28.2.So did the last night's game give you more or less faith in the Buffalo Bills?I don't want to have a cop-out answer, but it's the exact same I had.I guess I would say a touch more just because they got the win, which helps them seating-wise.But what I saw from them confirmed what I thought about them and what I thought about Josh.like Josh
01:09:57I was looking at the mountain during the breakPatrick I'm just goingPatrick BrockJared Goff is not an orderwhich isn'tthe PrinceJoe Burrow Matt StaffordDak Prescott
01:10:11those seven guysI all thinkare more consistent passers than JoshI think that Iam not shocked when Josh hasa middling passing gamenow he also is morelikely than almost sitting on that list to rip off a 30 of 35 for 400 yards, like beyond a total
01:10:33heater.But what makes him able to overcome that, the inconsistent passing, which I thought we sawlast night, is he is, and I've said this for years now, with respect to Lamar and with respectto Mike Vic, the most effective rushing threat as a quarterback ever, in my opinion. And that's not just the tush push stuff. It is, his scrambling is so devastating. And so he is an offense unto himself. You add to that James Cook, who despite the fumbles,
01:11:01they're going to score around 28 or more every game as long as Josh is healthy. And they're going to need to, Greg, because despite what I think is an actually very good defensive line, their back end is so haphazard at the moment.Anybody can score right there with them, much less the Rams. So, like, they are a scary team to face.Like nobody, if you get them in the playoffs, they can beat anybody. But it's hard for me to see that being a path to winning four consecutive playoff games.
01:11:34Yeah, I said the same thing. My faith in them is the same. They have truly one path of getting it done. And that's through their running game and Josh Allen is a part of that running game. And we saw it on full display last night.regardless of what he's not doing in the passing game, you still have to count him inwhen you're talking about their running game
01:12:00or when you're preparing for their running game. And I thought the Rams did a poor job of that,Chris Shula, whatever the game plan was,you saw it time and time again, him getting out of the pocket, pressing up into the pocket, and then scrambling with his legs. And the Patriots had just shut it down.
01:12:14He had five yards against you guys. And you didn't adjust to it.And it was, it's frustrating to what, watch when you see it over and over again as a Rams fan, but if you are a BuffaloBill's fan, you love it because this is what makes Josh Allen one of the most excitingplayers in our game. In most cases, he's going to be the best player on the field. And so for me,I can't say my faith is more. I have more faith or I have less faith because for somebodythat I have that type of value in, I expect him to be the best player. And that's exactly
01:12:50what he was last night. What does this say, Wiles?Nobody can read your writing. You can't even read your writing. The same.Same off your paper. It's a trifle.Maybe we should ask a different question. They are what I thought they were.
01:13:05They're what the bills always are.Different coach, different defensive coordinator, different OC, but the same teamas always. They're one of the best teams in NFL.Josh is the most dynamic player.in NFL.They're going to win 11 or 12 games. They're going to get to the playoffs and their defense won't be good enough.
01:13:28And maybe Josh will make a bad blunder that cost them too.But I don't feel like they can get to the Super Bowl. But you guys feel like I felt like you guys had a lot of faith.Like it feels like your faith level is here and it stays the same.My faith level is here. We're saying they're very, they're one of the elite teams of the league. No, but so hold on.They're halfway good.
01:13:49No, but you're a guy that walks in.with a nice pair of pants and no shirt on.You're like, well, great outfit. No, I disagree. But that's not right.I mean, again, I know that was a goofy analogy.Well, you like guys that dressed like that? Was just a nice, beautiful pair of pants?
01:14:01I just don't think that's accurate.I don't think that's the comp I would use.I think that that little thing we have on the bottom there, I think, is very telling. In the last two seasons, there have been, I'm doing the math on the flight,82 instances of a teamturning the ball over multiple timesand allowing 30 or more points.Everyone else in the league
01:14:24loses that game. They're 1 in 78.And the bills have won 2 out of 3.That also speaks to, it happens to thema little more often. If the rest of the...You know what I mean? It happens to them somewhat more often. But it alsoit's why
01:14:39they havehistorically, at many times, just signed upfor the Josh Allen experience and the roller coaster of it all.So I think that's drawing dead.So drawing dead is the only only Super Bowl.Well, that's what I'm saying. Here's my, they're an elite team.On half the ball, they are on half, when you're less than half of the time.
01:15:06How many games do you think they're going to win here? Here's what I'm saying.I watch the game. The offense takes the field, they're elite. The defense takes the field, they're not good.So for me, when I say like, girl, half the time.they're elite, half the time they're not. So in the regular season, this works. We drop the banners, everyone has the parades. They, when they score 30 and allow 30, ta-da, right? And oh, holy cow,
01:15:27this works. We can just outscore everybody. Because when they score 30, we'll score 31. And then itcomes to the playoff time. And like, uh-oh, what's going on now? And there's one and two.And the fact that the undercurrent of this whole season to me, and I think coach, is you fired your defensive-minded head coach, replaced him with your OC, did not shift down on the Josh Allen.I think you shifted forward on Josh Allen. And we all want to believe in Jim Leonard, but we have seen nothing. So I do not think this works.McDermott's defense was not working in the playoffs.I'll give you that.
01:16:07Like this is how McDermott's defense looked in the playoffs. They give up 33 a game, I think it was.A lot of that's a Mahomes stat.Like, you know what I mean? That was a Mahomes. The Chiefs did really well against their defenses in the playoffs. You know what I mean?Yeah, a lot of games.
01:16:21And last year, the Broncos did score a bunch of points. They also got four turnovers in order to do it.I think one of the things that is missed in what you're displaying to us is one of the reasons why we like the lions. And we always feel like the Lions have a chance is because we know despite their defense, they can still outscore you regardless, right? That is the same sentiment that everyone has with the bills. And when you go into a game naturally knowing, man, our defense is probably going to give up,
01:16:55that only allows you to play even freerand with the mentality of we're going to outscore you.Why aren't we talking about this bills team like we talked about Joe Burroughs,Bengals teams?Because those teams weren't four in one, pal.Right.Those teams were losing. They won nine.
01:17:10That's usually not your take. You're usually not like Mr.No.Like results oriented. But no.No, no.It's not that I've switched roles. It's that you're asking me, why are we not talking about a team that every year wins
01:17:2611 or 12 games, that every year makes the playoffs, that every year wins at least a playoffgame. And this year is four and one through a tough schedule. The way we talk about a team that has missed the playoffs three years in a row, nevergets off to a good start. So like there is a piece of that. But here's what I think the issue is.I don't think Brew and I have moved on how we feel about them.
01:17:47I think, I think that you think, because we thought they were better in the Patriots, that meant we thought they were awesome, elite, when in reality it meant we thought theywere a pretty good to potentially very good team.I still think they're better than the Patriots.I don't think it makes them the cream of the crop.but by your standard ofyou must be excellentor you must be good, at least good
01:18:14on both sides of the ball.I think right now you havethe contender list at three.Seattle, San Francisco, and the Chiefs.I think that's where it ends.I mean, no,I don't view it like that.
01:18:30I view it as we put thebills over here on like we could see themwinning the Super Bowland we put the Bengalsover here, no chance. It's just all offense. We put the Cowboys over here.We got to talk about Micah Parsons got traded.
01:18:46Look how bad the defense is.We put the Lions over here. The Lions can't win.But the Bills deserve this special spot of having this great offense and no defensethat the Cowboys, the Bengals, and the Lions don't get.So the Bills pounded the Lions. And that was, it was only 10 points, but they destroyed them. And then the Lions far as far as.
01:19:07scoring late in the game.Okay.The Bengals generally, as Nick said, don't make the playoffs. And the Cowboys didn't make it last year. And the Cowboys were a team. And when the Cowboys were, had Micah and not the defense wasn't great, they were viewed as a good team.
01:19:20The narrative of all those teams are the same team, but we're treating them differently.Because, because this year they. And I don't care what happened three years ago.Who has the better quarterback of all those teams?Josh Allen.Yeah.
01:19:30And the best record.Yeah.And so naturally,we're going to go with the team that has the best quarter. And he's the most.impactful quarterback that we see typically on Sunday. It has the best weapons. Then it would be DAC, right?
01:19:44But one team's got the best quarterback and the best running back by far in both categories.Yeah.Has.Jemir.Oh, I'm sorry.I didn't know where I thought we were talking about Cal.You're right.Jumeer's the best.
01:19:55But the.But Cook is right up the best running game. You can say that. And so I just, I think that going into the year, KW,Brew picked the Cowboys to make the Super Bowl. The Cowboys then this year have befouled themselves. They've lost to the Giants. They have lost in awful fashion to the Ravens.
01:20:17They just lost to a third-string quarterback.I promise you, if the bills were sitting here at two and three. Then we're just on different pages.I think it's been five games.I have seen a team play bad defense.I've seen the Cowboys play bad defense. It's a five-alarm fire. We're thinking we got to bring in consultants.
01:20:36We got to move Christian Parker. It's the location of where he watches the game. But you know, one team's four and one, one's two and three. But that's that matters. That's always matter. That's what? That's what we're in week five.I'm telling you it's a smoldering fire.
01:20:54Like, fine. It's a blocked field goal. You're saying it's like we act like it's like a dominant. This is not who you've ever been. They're holding.Everything you've said about the.Eagles is the opposite of this.I'm not talking about the Eagles.
01:21:07You win, Scott.Hey, Fox Toberfest is in full swing game three of the NLCSbetween the Brewers and the Dodgers tomorrow night on FS1.Then Fox College football on Friday, Washington taken on Dusty's boiler makers, and then Saturday.Wow, this is power. This is why they call it Fox Toverfest.Ohio State taking on the Hoosiers noon on Saturday.
01:21:30That's Fox Toverfest.Ohio State's going to crack them.I don't know.I think so.Yeah, I just been sticking out.They need to.They don't know.Nebraska upset was this closer.
01:21:40Chargers are 0 and 5.Remember the bills beat them. That was a huge W.How Josh doing that game?Great. No?We're starting 23 years for the franchise.Friend of the show,
01:21:52who I've never met or spoken to,Ben Solac, broached the elephant in the room. This is a serious question.I'm so mad about this. It's not for content. We are using it for content, Ben.Justin Herbert's 28.It's got four years left on his deal.
01:22:04He's not getting paid too much.24, 36, 50, 250.Actually, $50 million. Now, I think about it, is quite a lot of money.Yeah.You can buy yourself something beautiful.Yeah.A nice car.
01:22:16$10, $5 million items.Oh, my goodness. What would you all track and trade for him?Should the charges think about trading Justin Herbert?I try not to get angry at the producers or my colleagues.I am going to say this, though, because you just said, friend of the show broached this.Yeah, a friend of show. Another good friend of the show, a week prior broached it and said exactly what they would offer for it.
01:22:39That friend of the show was me.I don't remember that.Who said...You put it an alarm alarm alarm?Who said, the New York Jets should call the Chargers and say, we have three first round picks this year.We have our pick.We have the Colts pick. And we have either the Packers or the Cowboys pick, whichever is the better one.
01:22:57You can have them all for Herbert.Now...That was before. If you were running the Jets, you would do that?I don't think I'dI wouldit's a very unique situationis typically you don't want to
01:23:09one of the reasons you want to trade three first round picksit's like ah well then we're not going to be able to replenishthe roster years down the roadbut it all be this year like those aretwo of those are surplus picksII don'tI don't think Justin Herbert
01:23:25is now by the way he has a no trade clauseand if you're I think he would probably accept a tradebut maybe not to the Jets he's like I'm not goingfrom the Jets of the Westto the actual Jets. They're notinterested. But I don'tthink Herbert is unsalvageable.
01:23:42I do think he isoverrated by folksin the media. And I think this year is proving that out.But I also think at this point,he is playing worse than hehe's not one of the five worstquarterbacks in football. And the numbers
01:23:58are unanimous, Brew. That he's one of the five worst quarterbacks in football.when you look at, he's been awful.Like, truly awful. So something has to change. And on the charger side of things, Brew, I'd ask myself, why is this going to be different next year?Who are our blue chip players?
01:24:15Our two tackles who are always hurt, and that's it.We don't have a blue chip weapon. The entire interior of the offensive line is non-existent.We don't have a blue-chip defensive playerthat's under 29 years old.Like, they are rebuilding, whether they, acknowledge it or not.And so I think they should consider it.
01:24:36And I do think he would fetch similar to what Russell Wilson fetched.I do think that.I don't think they should consider it right now.But if this season, which it likely will, continues to play out like this, and they get a top five pick, maybe even better, then I would definitely look at trading. You know, if these quarterbacks, Trinidad Chambers, whoever it is, you really like.you really like. You could draft one of those guys,
01:25:04restart your financial clock, right? And even despite how badly Herbert is playing, people around the league love him,and they feel just like we do.They probably feel even stronger about him,but he's not this bad.Let's get him in our building. And I mention it, if I'm Minnesota,
01:25:23and this season goes, let's say they make the playoffs, and they just aren't good enough offensively.I'm going for him.if I'm Pittsburgh, I'm looking at him,and maybe Atlanta, depending on what happens with Michael Pinnock. So that's what I would do if I'm the Chargers,if I can get one of those top picks.
01:25:41No, I wouldn't consider it.Look, I think two things can be true. He's played poorly. He's been really bad.I don't think he's as bad as he's showing right now to date. And it can be the wrong marriage, offensive coordinator to player. That's just what it is, right?
01:25:57I just truly believe this is just, it's, it doesn't work and it hasn't worked. This is the worst we've seen Justin Herbert.Like, even during injury, he has been better, playing hurt, he has been better than what we've seen him.And he's seemingly healthy.I just think it's, and I think Mike McDaniel, I think he's a good coordinator.I just don't think this is working.I'm shocked.I think it's a simple as though.
01:26:25I thought it was going to, I mean, I had a.Made in heaven.Mike McDaniel might be a product ofOh, go ahead.Go ahead.No.Live from New York, first things first overtime today,
01:26:36what's the most impressive part of the 49ersundefeated 5-0 start?I would say Brock Purdy or Mike Evans.Traded from Tampa Bay.Everyone's like, oh, that's not a big acquisition.I said, yes, it is.Also not true.It was a sign.
01:26:51What?He wasn't traded.In my mind, he was.He left for less money.Yeah, exactly.Yeah, he wanted.He just go to Brock.He did.
01:26:58I know.Meanwhile, did the Packers put the NFC North on notice? How would they put the NFC on North?Notice, the Packers? Are they even?Oh, they crushed the Bears. What happened?Oh, my goodness.
01:27:10Hailed in the seven.I didn't even know the Bears playedbecause I didn't get my weekly Ben Johnsonpump up motivation video.I usually go to the gym.I put it on, Danny.Me too.Oh, my goodness.
01:27:22It's my alarm. He gets me fired up.Good better best.Oh, my goodness gracious. He has some trick plays that he like, hey, look at this. All right.Have you ever seen a guard pull to the left? And finally, it's top 10 Tuesday, which I really miss because we've always been like top 10 Tuesday on a Wednesday and the other day it was Friday.
01:27:44I'm happy to have top 10 Tuesday back and I'm looking forward to seeing where all the teams land.Alongside Chris Brousard, Kevin Wilde, Nick Wright and the great Danny Parkins.I missed you guys yesterday. You guys were very kind to me in the walk-in video about the Bears Packers game.It was a great day to be preempted for playoff baseball.I'll just say that.It was a nice day to not have to do the show.Went apple picking.
01:28:03I got some cider. What is up with you guys who live in the suburbs and apple picking? You went apple picking?Yeah.I don't get it.This is a thing about specific to people who live in the Westchester County. No, it isn't.Really?
01:28:20Brew, you've gone apple picking recently?Well, when my kids were little, we did go.Our thought you're depriving your kids.Appaliting your children of a great in.Living in the concrete jungle.Oh my goodness, you get into a haunted corn maze? You have to go into a corn maze to die for.Literally.
01:28:38Boo.Sometimes.Literally.Not literally. You won't actually die in the corn maze, but it is scary at night.Bill's Rams, lots of points, not too much defense. Here's Matt Stafford and Josh Allen. They did great.
01:28:54Take a listen.Look around the league, tough to find a perfect game. You know, we're going to try to go out there and score every time we touch the ball. There's no question about it.I love the fight that we had as a team. You know, made some great plays in the second half.I scored a bunch of points. Our defense made some great plays, got us the ball back in overtime.
01:29:10Listen, you're playing a really good football team in Buffalo. You know, you're going to have to fight tooth and nail to go get a win. It's football. You can be down and out one play. The next play you're on top of the world. And again, that's just how it rolled for us today.Oh, yeah. All right, Parkins, what was your name?number one takeaway.
01:29:27Well, there was a lot.It was a fascinating game, but I would sayI'm beginning to wonderif the Rams have a Sean McVeigh problem.Wow.What a take he comes out firing.Wow.It's an interesting.
01:29:40In Parkinsmore Mondays off.Wow.It's right.It's an interesting guy to evaluate.Like, I won a Super Bowl,unbelievable offensive mind,unbelievable play caller.Obviously.
01:29:52I would, I would, I personally, before the year,if you were like, three best coaches in the NFL.He would have been in my top three. He is exactly the profile of coach that you know that I love. You love him, except he's won stuff. He doesn't hold that against him too much.
01:30:04But a little conservative.Way too conservative for my liking. We can start there.I mean, the play call before the final missed kick is astonishingly conservative. He said he wanted it back, Bruce. He was mad at himself. This is a crazy play call when you have a kick. What should he have done?
01:30:25I don't know. You've thrown the ball to Pooka and Kua 23 times in the game and you have thereigning MVP and you have a kicker who stinks so you cut the next day.Maybe you don't hold out for a 48-yard field goal.He can't make a 48-yard field goal. It's at least a thought in an overtime spot to not settle for a field goal that long. But can you make the argument that every game they've lost this year has been on him?Wow.
01:30:48The Niners game in the opener, which he put on himself for the plan to Australia. That was probably from doctors, whoever the trainers.Whatever trainers were telling them. But it's his fault. It made no sense. He signed, he signed, he 16 points second half blown lead to Bonex, at least some of that falls on the head coach. And then last night, and Nick, you talked about it.The special teams thing, you could pick your, choose your own adventure for, these are all facts about Sean McVean's.
01:31:21special teams. Since he got the job, no team has missed more field goals. Since the start of last year,no one has had more kicks blocked. Since 2019, no team has had to use more kickers. And this year, they have the worst special teams, EPA in the league. They lost five games last year. You could saythree of them were because of special teams blunders. The Eagles game, the Niners game, and the Seahawksgame before they fired the special teams coach. He's just, he's obviously a great coach. But if this year, they are S-Bob, and you can pretty much say the one-seat is out the door based on the losses that they've had this year, which have been on him.And home field advantage in the playoffs last year was blown because of the special team stuff, which is a reflection of him.And you're saying as the head coach.
01:32:06The division title is what you're saying is out of the door.Yeah, right.Yeah.No, which means worse than not being the one-seat.It means no home playoff games all.No home games at all, unless you happen to get to the Super Bowl because it's in your building. It's just this whole season for the Rams was about winning a Super Bowl. And I don't think these first five games you can just chalk it up to.
01:32:25Well, we traded away Jared versus and Miles Garrett has been hurt. They should be better than this if Sean McVeigh had been better through five games.Look, McVeigh, what you said about the special teams is right on the money because that's been bad most of his career. They're the worst in the league consistently. But Miles Garrett has missed four out of the five games.Yeah.Aaron Donald is not what he used to be, at least so far.And he's missed two games on top of that.
01:32:53Matthew Stafford threw six interceptions in the first four games. All of that's on McVeigh?I didn't say all of it was on McVeigh.I think that they have lost games that they should have won,and that is something that we talk about with Nick Siriani, that we talk about with a lot of coaches. And this year, Sean McVeigh seems to be,He does a good job of taking accountability immediately.
01:33:17Like he put the Australian thing on him.Well, the one game he skipped the media. The Broncos game he left the media thing, but then he apologized. His teams, for whatever reason, starts slow.I was saying earlier, I mean, you know, two and three, three and two last year, one in four a year before, two and three a couple years before that.So for what, look, he's not perfect, you know, but you wouldn't think about getting rid of him.
01:33:41No, no, absolutely not.but I'm saying this year,we are going to, at some point,if they don't win a Super Bowl,we were talking about Super Team,we're going to do an autopsyon what went wrong with the Rams. And I think a lot so far this year,
01:33:55it would be, well, they're injured.I don't think they're overly injured.I don't think compared to the league.I thought you were going to hammer one other thing.Did you want them to go for two at the end of the game?Of course.Yes.Okay, so that's KW did as well.
01:34:08Of course.Listen, it's a shootout. You have to trust your offense over your defense. You can't bring the randomness of overtime into it.Especially like a goal, like you're Matthew Stafford and the Rams.Like just run, I could drop the play to Devante Adams. You had 14 touchdowns that like. And if it doesn't work, you're getting killed.
01:34:28Yeah, I didn't.You think he's been.I don't think he would be.In the new overtime rules against a bad defense, I don't mind.I didn't mind them kicking it.The only reason I would have minded them kicking it was I was a little nervous. The guy was going to miss it.Correct.
01:34:41Like that is a part of it.Like that he can just snap and miss that extra point because he's not a good kicker. And now he, you know, he got cut today.Listen, I think, and by the way, according to Schefter,Alarick Jackson, their left tackle, who has a very checkered personal conduct historyoff the field and has dealt with a suspension already. And I think people were surprised it was not suspended going into this year. That, I think, factors into what I'm about to tell you here,
01:35:09which is they expect him to be suspended.for two games for the post-game punch to Bradley Chubb.I don't think that happens to a player that doesn't have the history he has, even though his history is off the field.I'm just guessing that.I don't know if that's true or not.But we see guys getting post-game scuffles a lot.You don't often see a two-game suspension.
01:35:29Straight-up punching somebody in the faces a little. No, no, no.And so maybe it is normal. This strikes me as one game for the punch and one game because, you know, perpetual bad actor. But they, we talked to, they're not a deep team. And I think that really hurts their special teams.I think that potentially could hurt them down the road.
01:35:49Do we have time? Can we talk a little bit about the other team in this game?Sure.Because my biggest takeaway from this game was a relative level of being impressed with Buffalothat they could score 37 points when Josh Allen did not throw the ball well the whole game. And I think that speaks to.And I know I'm kind of like, you know, the face.of Josh Allen criticism in America,
01:36:14but in reality, it's media criticism.I think Josh is excellent.I think the media has a lot of it wrong with him.It is his ability to change games with his legs so consistently. And I think that was a failing by the Rams to not recognize, guys, the Patriots just put on film how to at least neutralize some of it.Landon's like, I got him.I'm going bad for poor.
01:36:40And here it is right now.Whoops.And Landman had an awesome game. It's the worst game I've ever seen for a guy with multiple force fighters.Yeah, right.I mean, he had game-changing moments.I think KW's takeaway was the Bill's defense will be their Achilles heel.Correct.
01:36:59Not literally.I mean it figuratively.Thank you.But can I, can we spend a moment drilling down on that?Sure.I'm not asking you to change any predictions.Would you be surprised if the bills make the ball?playoffs. At this point I would not be surprised. Early on I expected the
01:37:17Chargers to in the Texans to be solid teams. Right now they are a teamwith a combined one win. No, no. So right. I throw a wrench in my bills.Right. No, but so I'm not trying to do like I just want to, so you wouldn'tbe surprised to make the playoffs. Would you be surprised if they do what they've doneeach of the last six years? Smack somebody who snuck in. Which is who is whowhoops someone in the wild card round?Yes, I think, no, I would not be surprised at all.You would not be surprised at all?
01:37:46Oh, no, it's great. We're jumping through tables. All right, so then I don't, so I don't think we actually necessarily disagree all that much about the bills then.Except for Danny.Danny thinks they can win the Super Bowl.I do.But you, but I think Brew and I both have them making the final eight and depending on matchup, maybe the final four. And that's it.
01:38:05And they lose the eight 3228.And it's like, Josh was amazing, but they didn't get it done. And so same old bills is to me different than worst bills team of the Josh Allen era, which is where I, it.Well, for me, that was John McDermott, the regular season defense was pretty good.Yes.And two years ago, it was excellent.Yep.That's when they throttled Josh down.
01:38:31But now it's straight up lions-esque bad.So that's why I don't, if you have the bills going to the play, winning this group, I think you got to leave the line.So how concerned are you about the bill's defense?Listen, I agree with you on their D-line.I think that they can make an addition at the trade deadline for something, like another piece coming.I think the offense can get to another level with DJ Moore returning from injury. And unlike Dak Prescott or Jared Gough, like some of the court,
01:39:01they can't do what Josh did last night. The guy had 91 rushing yards in the fourth quarter and overtime.Yeah, but they're also way less likely to have seven yards passing midway through the second quarter. They're more consistent passers than Josh. But I just think when we talk about a guy putting on the cape,we don't really talk about it in the terms of those guys.Because it's Gibbs and it's Amman Ra and it's the totality of the offense. That guy can get hot and go on a run and beat anybody.
01:39:28Scoring 37 points in a game where no receiver had more than four targets,it's just a weird game. That is a level of offensive dominance that I do think, well, Cook was great running the ball, but he still fumble.Don't you think Brady pulled the reins in on Josh?I mean, you threw it 19 times.Yeah,
01:39:46the pass attempts would suggest that. But him saying that,I mean,we didn't really dwell on it,but when he was like,I was dealing with some mechanical stuff.Last few games. But I grew,
01:39:55I wonder how many of that if we would, because a lot of the runs were called past plays. You know what I mean? The scrambles are.So when you see 19 pass attempts.Sure.But they also were throwing short too.Yeah.
01:40:09A ton of short.Yeah, it's really interesting.Okay, well, it's Tuesday, which means time for.Top 10 Tuesday.Oh, my gosh.Look at that beautiful. He was wide open in the prints.Okay, Danny, I'm very excited for your top 10 teams after week five.
01:40:24It's fresh edition of top 10 Tuesday.Missed you guys, miss doing this on a Tuesday.Let's get right to it.Really, not much more to say about our 10th team this week. It's the Bears. Two and one with a backup quarterback. We'll take it.Really, the devil's in the details.
01:40:35More on that in a moment. We don't need to get into the details.Number nine. The aforementioned.Rams still out gaining their opponents by over 200 more yards than the next bestteam. They have over 700 more yards or about 700 more yards than their opponentsthrough five weeks. The offense is doing its thing. They're going to get MilesGarrett back. They're two and three. I think we're going to wake up and they're going to be
01:40:55seven and three heading into their by. So I still think the Rams are in good shape, big picture. At number eight, wilds his back. Wow. You get to be surprised. I'm not surprised. I told youlast week that you should have had more confidence in your squad. You had the Raiders at 10.Well, that's a nice win. That's a nice win for the Patriots in blowout fashion. And Drake May, all of a sudden, it looks good, and we're not keeping our eyes on the shoulderanymore.
01:41:19I still am.All right, well, that's one of us.Coming in at number seven, the Minnesota Vikings. They're the best defense in the NFL this year, but we're going to get a chance tosee if it's truly a dominant defense. This week, they're on a buy. These are the teams they play coming out of the buy.Andy, whose offense has a very high ceiling, the aforementioned Lions,
01:41:37the Bills, the Packers, we'll see what version that is, and the Niners. It's three of the top offenses in the NFL.Are they a great defense or a historically great defense that can carry them? We'll see coming up over the next five weeks.Coming in at number six, it is Bruce Ravens.Again, I told you.I had him in Parkins' picks.Tyler Huntley, pretty good backup.
01:41:56Undefeated and starts over the last two years.Still think there's a very high ceiling for this team.At number five, the only team that has allowed fewer points than the Jaguars are those Minnesota Vikings. We spend a lot of time when we talk Jaguars talking about the Prince. We love talking about quarterbacks. The defensive ranks of the Jaguars so far this season.Second and points.First and rushing.
01:42:18First and rushing yards per carry.Touchdown the interception ratio. The only team in the NFL to hold every opponent this year to 20 points or fewer. Not a crazy schedule in terms of opposing quarterbacks, but still, very impressive on both sides of the ball for Jacksonville. At number four, Nick's Chiefs. They moved down.It was a buy. They didn't play.
01:42:36It was a buy. They did not get a win.Exactly.And I just, is the Raiders win as impressive when they get blown out by the Patriots? You moved the bills ahead of the Chiefs?Well, we'll see.Well, obviously you did. They're not on here yet.
01:42:52The Bills beat the Rams. The Chiefs didn't play anyone. And don't love how the Colts are looking.Don't love how the Broncos are looking. You said the Bills beat the Rams because Sean McVe is a fraud. Those are your words.I didn't say fraud.Run back the tape.
01:43:07said they got a Sean McVeigh problem.Through five weeks, it hasn't been great for Sean McVeigh. That's empirically correct. At number two, the Seattle Seahawks.I mean, they just, they've got five losses since the start of last yearby a grand total of 14 points. They have two losses in the last 10 days or something.
01:43:23It's not about the last four. That's two weeks. They don't get blown out.You want to kill them for that Washington game? That's fine.I still have Seattle as a second best team. What is the game that just happened? They just lost.
01:43:35How much you want to move them downwhen you lose to the number one teamin a great game that looked like it could be an NFC championship preview. And at home.NFC West, dominance at the top.Let's look at the Niners. They seem to always just be able to get it done. You thought they were going to get destroyed by Seattle.
01:43:50Instead, they continued a lot of their offensive efficiency. What have they been doing on third-off?Situational.50 plus percent on third down, 80-plus percent conversion in the red zone, them and the 13 Broncos. It's been stacked less than five times.Brock Purdy's been amazing. You should be the MVP favorite.
01:44:04There's your top 10 Tuesday.Brewer is always a perfect list. The Niners are right. What?Niners are right. You got that right.Seattle could just stay. The chief should be, the chief should be number two.
01:44:15Thank you.And Seattle should move down. All right. Here's the thing. They're three and two.I know it's not the standings, but still, they got two losses in five games.Their quarterback is not playing well.
01:44:27He's got five interceptions and nine sacks in two games,or four games.I'm sorry, four games. And then they got no rush game.Their rush game is in Kansas City now. They got no run game. And their defense, that vaunted defense that admittedly, I thought, looked good against the Niners,
01:44:46has given up an average of 28 points in the last three games, despite only playing one team, San Francisco, that has a winning record. How does that mean they're the second best team in the league? How far would you move them down off of that game to the Niners?I might keep them in the top row.Okay.But I definitely put the Chiefs ahead of them.Could they be, I'd probably, just based on what we've seen so far,
01:45:10I'd probably put the bills ahead of them. And you could argue the Jags. But definitely down to like four.Yeah, I thought that that game, there was a separating classbetween one and two and the rest of the league. So I'm keeping Seattle there.I don't know. You, how you think?
01:45:25Again, I don't know what more you want from Kansas City. No, that hasn't been true. But that's fine. They were off this week. They get to play. Also, Danny snuck in.Last week, during overtime without us, that he was abandoning the Chargers, which you've never said to us, I kept pressing.
01:45:42You were like, I still think they can win 10 games.I still think they can't win 10 games. We listen. It's going to be tough at 0.5.Yeah, well, okay. But that's not my issue.I can't help the baseball playoffs. That's not my issue.
01:45:53What's your issue? What is the possible justification for having the bears in,And the Packers out.I don't know. The Bears have scored more points than the Packers. They've allowed fewer points than the Packers. It's not the standings. What do you think would happen if they played?
01:46:13I didn't say it's the standing. What do you think would happen if the two teams played each other?Well, the Packers dominated the football game, Nick. But I mean, is that is head to head the end all be all?So, I mean, are the Broncos better than the Jaguars? No, I don't think head to head to the end all be all.But what's the, what is?Just the Broncos and the Jags have the.
01:46:34same record? No, they're off by a game. Okay. So these two teams have the same record. They do have the same record. These two teams play all the time because in the same division. All the time. One guy's, one team's coach just never loses to this team. It's 13 and two, right?Your guy Ben Johnson. Danny, how many NFC North wins has Ben Johnson have? It's two. In the regular season. Who were the quarterback's heat games? Do you know? Because I do.Yeah, it would go, uh, is what, no.Malik Willis and, um, the, nine Vikings guy.Nine, J.J. McCarthy.
01:47:11Yeah, barely too.All right. So I have one other question.I mean, they, the, the playoff win against the NFC North opponent counts, right?Sure.Okay. Throw it in there. That one, that one should count against Jordan above. What do? Right now. What are you totally calm?
01:47:26Because I know you think the Packers is no good. And they demolished you.Oh, Caleb didn't play.Does Caleb play safety? You guys?He honestly, he should have in that game.Yeah.What do the Bears do excellent right now?
01:47:40I still think they're an excellent offense.Based on what? When Caleb's back. The 59 points against Carolina?Yeah. They scored three. When there's airplanes in the sky. They scored seven this week against the team you thought was dead.
01:47:55Let's see what happens against Atlanta with Caleb back, Nick.Is Caleb definitely back?I'm hopeful. He's retweet. He's starting to tweet like, uh,you know. He's been sharing some Drake lyrics. He's been a little more active on social media.
01:48:09But isn't their next game on a Thursday? After that, yeah. You think they're going to bring them back Sunday and then play Thursday?I don't know.I hope so.That's the Patriots game. The Bears are not a top 10 team.Fringe.
01:48:21They're not fringe, though. They're right there. It was a debate, but I put them in.The Packers are, okay.Who was on the cusp? The Packers? The Broncos?Yeah, the Lions.
01:48:32The NFC North jumbled up.Little Panthers action.Probably not.More lists of teams tomorrow on tiers. It's true. It's not a list. It's America's most trusted football ranking service.I assume the Broncos are going to be ahead of jazz.
01:48:46We're talking 49ers after the break.Welcome back to the OT.I'm really excited to be here talking Bears Packers with Greg Jennings. Can't you tell? All right. So all good things come to an end.Case Keenham and Tyson, Bayton. They were great against the Eagles and Jets.
01:49:00But then, you know, four turnovers against your Packers on Sunday, Greg.Greg, game got away from the Bears a little bit. Here's Ben Johnson.Anytime you lose a game, it's disappointing. Our guys are professionals, though. They understand where we're at.We're a three and two football team. The part that stinks is that we're 0 and 2 in the division right now.
01:49:21So we've dug ourselves in a hole in that regard. And yet we've got a great opponent and great opportunity coming up here this week, going on the road to Atlanta with a big game. All right, Greg. Also, there is news within the last hour that.their highest paid defensive lineman Montez Sweat is being suspended two games for performance enhancing.Supplements, maybe I should answer this one because it's how should Bears fans feel.Yeah, go for it.
01:49:49Not great.I think that game was awful. It got away from them. You would say that's just the norm.I did not expect it, obviously.I will say that, like, overall, I still think that,This team can be great. And that was an ass kicking.
01:50:09Like that's what it was.Tyson Bejant was terrible.Montes sweat. He's going to be suspended for two games.I'm not sure I'm going to notice because I never saw him out there when he was actuallyplaying.Jalen Johnson, their highest paid cornerback has been atrocious this year. After the Jets game, Ben Johnson was like, hey, Tyson, you're going to the checkdowns too fast.
01:50:28You've got to trust it, man.We believe in you. You've got to error it out.Maybe bad advice because he was airing it out into team meetings. So I am not worried in the macro because Caleb will be back and any team would take going two and one with your backup quarterback. So I still think the bears in the big picture are fine. But I'm not going to sit here and pretend like that game was enjoyable. That was an embarrassing low point of the Ben Johnson era.
01:50:54Is that enough? You could say more.I could say more. What else you want?I'll start with.I'll just put this down. You guys, if you don't know what this is, this is a belt.It was a lot of BTA that took place on Sunday.
01:51:11But I'll let you figure out what all that means.Yeah, I get it.I'm not going to spend my time talking about the bearsbecause, to be honest, this is what you guys do.Okay, listen, is that what happened in the playoff game?I let you go.I sat here and I listened to all of your, you're right. You're right, my bad.
01:51:34Okay.Um, like I get it.The Packers have been bad.But the one thing that remains is we still beat the Bears. And so for me to come on on this show today because you're here as a Bears fan and to act as though I'm shocked that the Packers woke up and beat the Bears, well, they typically always beat the Bears. So I'm not, I'm not as excited as one would probably think that I should be.However, Bears fans, you got issues. We've known you've had issues.
01:52:08The Packers issues, however, have been broadcasted and been magnified, rightfully so,because we weren't accustomed to seeing them with these type of issues. And so one thing I will say is anytime you're having things not go your way,it feels good to have something go your wayand you know it's going to go your waybecause it's always going your wayor the percentages are always in your favor. And so to have the bears coming into Lambo
01:52:42and to be an underdog at homeagainst the bears with a backup coming inwas disrespectful. And so when you are disrespected, you meet disrespect with disrespect, which is whyagain, they came on the field and they handled, if you know what this is, you know what this is.People know what it is.
01:53:04I mean, I'm just making sure.People know what it is.I'm just making sure you know what it is.So just in case you get out of line in this segment. No, I got a short memory, but I do remember the playoff game last year between these two teams.Thought you had a short memory.I'm just saying it's not that short.Okay.
01:53:17It's not that short. So that's what you're doing.Well, I'm just saying, it's not that ridiculous that they could have won the game.Since last year, you know what, there was a bear on the ball.loose. You know what, you know what? You know what Matt LaFore said? What is this? Carreth? You know what Matt LaFour said? Lock the cage. That's what we do. Lock the cage? Yeah, locked the cage. The bear was out
01:53:36putting back in the cage. We're mixing metaphors. We got belts and locks.Yeah, well, this is what happened on the field. That's what I happened on the field. And what we came, what we became privy to was the phraseof the week, which was locked the cage. So there you go, buddy.Okay. Well, I appreciate it. Oh, it's locked.Listen, they'll see you again. It's locked.
01:53:57They'll see him again. It's locked.I know you got to figure out how to unlock it.Caleb Williams is the key.Is the key to unlocking this.Micah Parsons. He might need to play both ways, though, because Bear's got some serious defensive.Probably.
01:54:08All right, let's talk about what the game of the weekend was with Seattle and San Francisco.Win over the Seahawks Sunday. They're 5 and 0, the Niners are. Also, 3 and 0 in the toughest division in the league.Through five games this season, we get some numbers here.Third in points per game and points per game.and points per game allowed first in sacks and pass a rating. So the numbers are pretty overwhelming.
01:54:30They were number one on top 10 Tuesday. If you had to single something out, Greg, and I don't know if you have any props for it.What has been the most impressive part of the 5-0-9ers?Got a top hat or something?Well, I mean, it's pretty obvious. It's been Brock Purdy. There's some other guys that have been impactful.
01:54:48And I'll talk about them later in the week. But right out the gate, when you watch this tape,When you watch this team play, you see a level of Brock Purdy that we just haven't seen. And particularly late in games, when the best is needed, his best has been on display. And in the fourth quarter, when you watch this young man this year, it has been amazing.I mean, these numbers just jump out at you, five touchdowns. And this is just in the fourth quarter alone. And so when you're talking about closing games, being in tight games, is there a quarterback that is playing better right now?
01:55:23No. Is there a quarterback that you would rather have on your roster in terms of how they've been performing? No. You can put him up against anyone.Brock Purdy has been the driving force and for a long time, we have always allowed the outside guys around him, the skill guys, the arsenal, if you will, the Avengers to be the thing that lifts his level of play. And he has done that for this team. He has been the glue to make this entire deal.work on the offensive side of the ball.Obviously, Fred Warren and what he's been able to do,Mike Evans has a role that he's played.Mike Evans has been great. But Brock Purdy has been lights out when they need him to be a quarterback that is elite.
01:56:08He has been that. And it's been impressive to watch.Yeah, I thought from the game specifically against Seattle, you could have talked a lot about Mike Evans and be like, man, that guy was winning one-on-one matchups. And there was a lot of, um, party was just not throwing it up recklessly, but just like I'm going to trust my guy to make a play covered or uncovered. And I thought some of that was Mike Evans.
01:56:30That is not to take away from Purdy, who if I had an MVP ballot, would be at the top of it through five weeks.I think the thing that has been most impressive to me has been, and you just showed a few of it in the fourth quarter. But just like situationally, they are the best red zone team. They are the best third down team. They are the best point differential team. They have allowed the fewest sacks. They have the fewest negative plays. They have the highest pass rating.
01:56:52Like everything about situations and efficiency, they're the best at.And that is, I think, a combination of Purdy and Shanahan and, like, the marriage of the two just being elevated to another level. We spent a lot of time last week and was talking about it with coach about, like, what was this game going to look like?Because I said it was the early game of the year. And the playoff game got away from them.It was 41 to 6.But the two regular season games last year, you know, it was 17, 13, and 13 to 3.And then Nick was kind of along the same line of thinking, and he showed Purdy against Mike McDonald's defenses,
01:57:26when McDonald was also with the Ravens and combining O'SCF.And it was a lot of games where it was low scoring and well under his averages. And then they come out and put up 32 points. It's like if he could put up 32 points against Seattle and against Mike McDonald, who has been the limiting factor for Kyle Shanahan and Brock Purdy,it feels like there is nothing that I have seen so far in the NFL this year that's going to be able to.to slow down that offense. Doesn't mean they're going to go undefeated. But in terms of slowing downor disrupting that offense, they're going to roll this year. To add to your situational football, like when you have a roster that is as seasoned as they are in terms of experience, guys
01:58:06older that, you know, runs their injury risk, okay, whatever, but they've seen a lot of football, seen a lot of situational football and have had to execute in those moments. Right. The injuries are thedownside, but the situational awareness is theupside. Absolutely. And that is whatyou get when you have a lot of guyswho have the experience, who've beenin every situation possiblethat you can throw at them, you're
01:58:31going to get a very efficient, a veryeffective unit onboth sides of the ball situationally.Well, speaking of impressive, Josh Allen waspretty impressive last night, butisn't a sustainable thing? We talk about put it on thecape. We'll ask if the bills are too relianton Josh Allen and this style
01:58:47of play. ThanksWe're hanging on the O.T.Here me and Greg Jennings.Let's go back to Buffalo where the bills got a much-needed winover the Rams in L.A. last night.Primetime shootout that showed Josh Allen being Josh Allen in the second half. This is head coach Joe Brady on his quarterback, keeping him some praise.Take a listen.
01:59:06It's tough for them to kind of play all the way through the down with his legs. And I hope his legs aren't the answers always. It's probably got to do a better job in the past game.and, you know, from a play design to just an execution to, you know, just the protection and everything. But, you know, look, when the ball was in his hands, he made plays when we needed to him at the end.And those are some critical, critical scrambles.91 rushing yards for Josh Allen in the fourth quarter and overtime, 121 in the game.We talk about this guy kind of in a singular way of putting on his cape.
01:59:41It was an incredible win.It was an entertaining game. But is it sustainable?Do you think the bills are too?reliant on Josh Allen's heroics. No, this is who they've always been. This is who they've always. They haven't won big.
01:59:53They haven't won big.And so it hasn't panned out when it matters most.I guess that would be the argument. But in the regular season, this is what it's been. It's been either he's going to beat you with his arm and with the guys that he's throwingto or he's going to do what he did last night. He's going to break you down with his legs. And if you don't have someone to spy on him, like we saw last week against the New England
02:00:17Patriots, and for whatever reason, Chris Shula in this Rams defense was like, uh, we're probablylet the big guy just roll.Well, the Rams don't have very good linebackers. And then that guy, landman who they had spying on him, like, I'm not a defensive coordinator. He's slow.Like, he's just like an objectively slow lineback.I don't understand like that.I was like, Josh was just putting him in the blender all night.
02:00:43Yeah, and this is just, this is not the guy you want to spy at him.One of the things that I willI credit this toJosh and Joe Brady isnow that he's head coachI think Josh feels likehe has the liberty to doa little bit more of this. I think
02:00:58McDermott probably was a littlemore cautious because he understandsdown the road and I'm not saying Joe Brady doesn'tbecause I know he does and Joshbut he trusts that Josh is goingto make the right decisionand protect himself. Joshis also always available.
02:01:15regardless of if there's any type of Nick, bruise, things like that,he's going to play. But this is what they have to beuntil proven otherwise.Defensively on the back end, they don't hold up.I heard you talk about it in the A block.
02:01:30Up front, they are much better. They are better against the run. Those things have shown up on tape. But when you have a guy that can put up pointsand that knows that they have to put up pointsand on the field to a man,he's going to be typically the best player out there,he has to be able to showcase his ability
02:01:49and why he's the best player. And that's what Josh has always done.So I think we're saying pretty much the same thingbecause my answer to this would be yes,but they have no other choice.Like, yeah, they are too reliant. This is not, that was a weird game last night. There were 13 penalties.
02:02:05They allowed 40 completions. They turned the ball over twice. They turned the ball over in overtimeand still won the game. That is not a formula for winning a Super Bowl. That is not a normal thing. And me and Wilds were talking, excuse me, before the show, about their defense andlike Buffalo's defense or Dallas's defense or the Bengals defense before last year.
02:02:29It's like those quarterbacks of Goff, Dack, Burrow, they're great, but they could nothave done what Josh did last night. And yes, the argument would be, well, they would never be in a passing situation like he was.But there is something about, I'm going to call him.a pass play, it is going to be defended, and my quarterback is still expected to convert becausehe's a polar bear who can run a 4-440, which is basically what he is out there. So he is just ahe is a one-of-one offensive weapon in the game. There are better passers. You can say thereare more consistent players, whatever. He is a one-of-one offensive force that, but I would still say
02:03:11can win a Super Bowl, even with all of the flaws, because you make it to the playoffs and yougot to win four games, he'll be the best player on the field in all of those games. Yeah, but youmentioned those other guys, even if they wouldn't have a passing game to this level, wouldn'tyou say if Josh Allen, if their best passing game, let's say whatever it was, 400 yards, yeah, 29 for 34. Josh Allen can do that too, though. He definitely came. Like he can. Like, he canHe can, exactly. He can roll that game out as well. And so when you have a guy that can switch it up like that at any moment,
02:03:50third and 17 and you think, well, you got to throw the ball.Yeah.You're not going to, even if the quarterback gets out the pocket, he's not going to scramble for 17.Josh scrambles up the, juke's one guy, scrambles up the middle, gets the first down because that's what he typically will do.At any given moment, other quarterbacks can't do that. Now the Patrick Mahomes picks and chooses when he does it.Brock Purdy kind of in that same category.
02:04:16But this young man right here, this is what they have to seeand what they have to be provided week in and week out on some levelin order for them to have tremendous amount of success.I'm not sure if it was an instant classic, but it was a wild, wild game last night. All right, coming up, the weekly honors here at the OT.The competition for Catch of the Week has never been more fiercethrough five weeks.
02:04:41Greg, we'll get the deciding vote. All right, it's time for the OT Weekly Honors. We do it around this time on Tuesdays.Catch of the Week nominees, Greg. There are a lot of them.So first one here, Justin Jefferson. You're going to get the final word. There are three guys around him here.
02:04:54Jamar Chase, he's been a candidate, a ton of weeks.Yeah.This one is pretty ridiculous.Going down with the body control to the end.Two more nominees. This was a great catch too.Dude, Parker Washington has been spectacular this year.Oh, did you tell us?
02:05:10about that? I mean, he's a guy. And then here's Trey McBride on the sideline keeping both feet inbound. So you are our resident receiver. Your pick? I got to go with Trey McBride. I mean, on the sideline, had to double catch it, lose his control of the ball, defenders draped over him, two feet inbound, heels up, so he still catches it, the awareness. That was just, it was everything you ask a receiver to do. And he did it two and three.times. So yes. Great call by theref too who got it right on the field. He did. And to me I was like, oh, well, that's an incompletion. There's no way he had control of that. Other catches, really good catches. I thought the leastimpressive one was the Justin Jefferson.Just what he does. I mean,
02:05:54it was a really good ball.It was a really, I mean, the placementof the ball is like, fallback, your guy, nobody. All right, well, we didn't have the throwof the week. All right, another receiver starting outhere as we get totaunt of the week.Mike Evans, he's like, who are you?
02:06:10Trayvon Diggs.Been abusing you all day. That is an underrated disrespectful move.Man.What's your name?I don't even know you.Let me look at the back of your jersey.I don't know what I would do.
02:06:22I mean, it's kind of checkmate, isn't it?It's kind of checkmate. You got to hit him.You got to just hit him?If you're, if you're Trayvon Diggs, you got him, you got to hit him. After doing that, oh, you don't know.Man, get up out of here.I feel like you've lost the interaction if you have to resort to hit him.
02:06:38Exactly.That's why you got to hit him.Okay, all right. You gotta do something. This is why you are a professional athlete and I'm afraid of physical confrontationbecause I've just respected Mike Evans' game.I gotta come back. All right.
02:06:49Did you ever do anything like that? You're too polite.I am.Yeah, you're a nice guy.All right. We had a lot of these options here.I like this category. The what the bleep of the week?
02:07:03It pains me, Greg, to not be on the air yesterday to talk about this.I was okay with missing the Packers, Bears discussion.Nick did a great job.I don't understand people putting this on an offensive coordinator.I'm sorry. You're the quarterback. You're the quarterback.Throw the ball away, spike it, run off the field.
02:07:31I don't know.A lot of options.A lot of options other than that. The only option that's not on the board is that one.I don't get it.And again, how is this on anybody other than Jaden Daniels?Yeah, I feel you.Look, I thought, I thought number one, they let too much time go down.
02:07:47Yeah, yeah. But even despite that, you know the situation. You have to look at the clock before you snap the ball.He snaps the ball.He gets his foot stepped on.I saw that he kind of loses.Kavon Tibido does a great. He's the only rusher that doesn't rush, and he kind of goes in his throwing lane.
02:08:05So he kind of scrambles his thought process and his processing of what he should do.And he forgot to throw the ball away. It's like he was playing for double overtime, which I checked is not a thing. It's not allowed in the regular season.I want to squeeze this in real quick.Who won the week very quickly?Jemir Gibbs won the week.He is on pace for 1,700 rushing yards and over 800 receiving yards and 30 touchdowns.
02:08:31So on base for 30 touchdowns.Your guy won the week.Yeah, man.I mean, he's a special player. And as long as that guy's on the field, the lions will continue. He needs to put up points because you got to count for him in the run game, in the past game.If he's on the field, you better know where he's at and you're still not going to stop him.I do have one question.
02:08:51Do you think that it's possible that Dan Campbell has Jemir Gibbs also on his fantasy team? He's giving him fourth quarter carries in a game that are up three touchdowns.I'm like, I don't know.He seems like he's kind of your entire offense right now. He's a running back. There's no longer, you don't have David Montgomery here.Maybe preserve.Maybe preserve him?
02:09:10It was just, it was like they were stat padding. We have to get him offensive player of the year.Hey, if you're not going to win the division or you're not going to win the Super Bowl. It's a little early for that.Hey, it's a little early for that.Hey, it's a little bit of that.Do whatever you can.Good to see.
02:09:25We're back tomorrow on the O2.
