We are breaking down our summer movie auction that we did. If you have not looked at that at all, go back and listen to that supplemental and then come back here. It's over now. We're done. Everyone bought movies. We did totals and we are here to kind of reflect on the summer. That was how we feel about it. All that sort of good stuff. How do you guys feel about how things went? Because I liked it a lot. I feel medium. I don't know how I didn't catch up with you.

I don't know how Alien didn't get me there. Power Deadpool Wolverine. Can't stop him. You rode Deadpool Wolverine for so long. Good Lord. You rode Inside Out too. I feel the same way about Harold and the purple crayon, but like for some reason it didn't,

nothing happened with it. Like I don't know where like Crown Mania went, but like. It fell off. They just didn't know. I think all the Herald heads out there are like, once that, oh, it's out. It came out already. All the other they're busy reading the books. They forgot there's a movie. Oh, we blew it.

Yeah, we blew it. Herald heads. Can you imagine walking out of Herald in the purple crayon and saying the book was better? No, I can't imagine walking out of Harold and the crown at all it's gonna be Harold in the purple crown day I got some Harold and purple crown on the podcast we record later I'd love I'd love to know how much movie how much money that movie what? Then a little bit later, Alien came out and I just hovered perfectly underneath his line the entire way to the end. There was no week, there was no day where I made ground and he didn't make the same ground.

That is insane. Was I ever in first? Maybe on. No. Maybe for like an hour. No. Yeah. God, that first week or so was real sweet to Jeff.

This is oh my god a week that will live in infamy. Oh my god Dollars swing Look at that almost a hundred million So inside out to and Deadpool and Wolverine ended up being respectively the most successful films in their genre ever. Right. Yeah, I would say so for like the R rated. Is there a higher and more financially successful R rated movie?

I don't know. I don't believe there is. Sure. It wasn't show girls. Now, I think that we have all had a lot to say so far, but Nick has been like weirdly quiet. I spent a lot of money for not a lot of payout. We really thought like, you look like, look at this, Nick,

look at this run. Listen, I lived- Second place, second place, second place, second place second place second place second place second place Eating fucking dust and then Jeff did it right the end And then I'd beetle juiced him I Felt bad because my lines pretty horizontal like I got like a bumpy or whatever. Mine's pretty low the whole way Nick What happened? It's such a good start. You just stopped drafting movies?

It's interesting. Studio, it just ran out of money. I don't know what happened. Yeah, let's go back to the Excel sheet. Well, we can have a look at what everyone drafted here. All right. Despicable Me 4. Really put it all on Despicable Me.

There is an alternate reality where Nick lets me get it at 79 points and our things are flipped completely. Yep. I think I was so burned out on recent MCU that I didn't even care about Deadpool Wolf Ream when we were doing this. Same. Same. And then as it came up, the hype was insane. And then the movie was good.

I was like, yeah. Wow. They fixed it. Dude, I watched Bad Boys Ride or Die on the plane. That was a that was a great. There's there's a couple of moments, but like, oh, I liked it a lot. I haven't seen it yet. I was totally fine with it. It's you watch it. Well, here's the problem. I watched Bad Boys 2, then Bad Boys one and then bad boys ride or die.

And I went, well, this is not a Michael Bay movie at all. Like, is that your favorite? Yeah. I do like that he's in them, though, like as a little like not like a approval. Like they bring him in for both the last two. Oh, yeah. He did have a cameo in four. Yeah, I'm pleased that with less points than Nick's single movie, I managed to get three nine figure movies though. So what was the difference between Gavin and I?

Because I came in first, Gavin was second. I guess? That would be on the top leaderboard, I would say. Where am I looking here? No, it's just the top number. So billion 30 and then 981. So like 50 million. It's crazy.

Just under like 49 million. The 15 bucks I was saving didn't come into play, really. I thought maybe I thought it would. I felt like mine was going. I got nine bucks sitting in my pocket. And then I don't know, man. Why is Jana planet right during the auction, the points of this movie were not recorded correctly instead of inputting them. Oh, okay. That's so you got a free movie. Yeah, but it only made, it made me less than $1 million. I want to say even though you

came in fifth, I think you're, I think that's a DQ. What's no way. You're disqualified. I think you're totally out. Studio couldn't have got that movie. What do you mean? Hey, Gavin, you know what? You can take $1 million away. That's even more than this movie made. You can take $1 million away from me and we'll see where that puts me. Hang on. Let me see. And with that was a huge hit with Jeff and Eric getting free movies and my movie absorbing six points and come out. Damn, I feel like I could have had this. Oh, you're close. You had it for most of the summer. So did we find out if it changed everything or not?

The watchers just do you want to just go through everyone's list and maybe we each talk about like what how we felt Let's start from the bottom. Yeah The strangers heard it sucked. Furiosa. I'm disappointed. I thought that like all I heard is that like this was a box office flop and looking at 67 million dollars. That's pretty awesome.

Should have been well over 100. I would think. Right. I guess. I just don't like it's weird. That movie came and went so quick. Yeah. And there's no discussion.

And the same way that the last Mad Max, it felt like it floated and you're seeing posts about it and memes and like just none of that for this. It just had nothing on Fury Road. Yeah. I agree. I agree. And then here's an anime thing. Here's Janet Planet, Maxine.

I didn't expect that to do, I mean, 15 million is pretty great for that. I'm just glad they're done making those movies. That's pretty great. Is Janet Planet the worst point to money value on the entire list? Might be. It might be.

not a $15 million flop. It made less overall than I thought it would do opening weekend. Yes, me too. I think what happened, this is just speculation, I think that Borderlands came out at a time where there were too many other me me little shitty movies so you couldn't grab onto it. You're riding the wave of Deadpool and Wolverine, which is like dominating the conversation. Harold and the Purple Cran was the one that people memed and it helped to get to 17.

Nobody memed Borderlands. Like it did not grab and push at all, which is really, really tough. Trap, I saw, I helped it out. I thought it was very, for three points, banger. Oh, great. but I really enjoyed it. Like, I'm not a huge Quiet Place fan, but I thought that was the best one by far. It was really good. Oh, and then Despicable Me for three hundred sixty million is what it earned and spent 80 points on it. You and I were going back and forth or Despicable Me. That one got really out of hand, but it did.

It did. But also look at the domestic point, like the how much it made to point out only four and a half. Why are you are you happy to have missed out on that one, Andrew? Oh, I'm so happy. I don't think any of us saw it, but it was. No, it did pretty much double Despicable Me, which was crazy. Which is cool. Then you just kept making money. Yep. And then you had Alien Romulus come out. Spent 13 points on that for 104 million. I think that should have done slightly more.

Really? Was it good? I think in recent I bet I'd be interested to see where it stacks up against all the alien movies as a whole. Number three. It's the third highest earning one. Oh, in earnings. God, yeah. No, not in. I didn't mean in goodness.

So rank the alien films in order from best to worst right now go Best to worst. Yeah. Yeah go aliens alien. Yep, Romulus Covenant and then You got to go Prometheus and then the alien verse predators on the back end, right? I like Prometheus. I never saw it. It's fine. I thought it wasn't an alien movie.

It's better. It is covenant is already out. I think covenant made it better. Alien Romulus is the second highest grossing alien movie. And how Prometheus number one, it goes Prometheus, then Romulus, then aliens, then Alien vs. Predator and then the original alien. So Prometheus is an alien movie.

Yeah, I thought one of them wasn't an alien movie. It is, but it's not. It is, but it's not. That's what people keep saying. It's the prequel. Yeah. OK. Oh, but it has a xenomorph in it. Well, it's got some kind of alien and it's got the space jockey. Yeah. So it's an alien movie. Yeah. Isn't it? Oh, yeah.

I guess if you want to get technical in the fucking world of alien the xenomorph didn't exist yet But the thing that becomes the xenomorph xenomorph is in that movie The black goo so why don't people just refer to it as a prequel why did people always say well It's not really an alien. I think people thought it was a direct prequel I think all the stuff that they thought they were seeing, they thought was in Alien. Yeah.

But it was different shit. I think people who like the Alien franchise this much are weird to begin with and are very protective of lore that the guy who made it does not care less about. Like, he does not give a shit and he just goes, yeah, I don't know, they're evil or they're good or something. And it's, that's it. Ridley Scott has no respect for the alien franchise.

Zero, zero. None. It's fantastic. I think it's great. Zero respect, but also like a weird amount of respect of like, no, we're going to explain what these things meant. Yes. First movie. Yeah. It's like, it's so odd that he cares about it, but also doesn't seem to care at all. Yep. Right. The engineers are Jesus.

Then your last few were the Forge, Slingshot and City of Dreams. Yeah, I have no memory of those, but man, the Forge was good value per point. Jesus. I don't know anything about those three movies. But yeah, one point for twenty seven million. The hell was Slingshot. That was slingshot. No idea. 700 grand. What's the forge?

I just don't know what any of that stuff is. But, but it doesn't matter because you came in second because Andrew made over a billion dollars with his picks. Billion dollar opening. Five, only five movies Wow Solid core wait solid core. How did Wolverine and Deadpool do in comparison with inside out in total? Inside out was on mine made more I think

That's next is inside out inside out to is gav. It made more! I had the highest grossing movie? Yeah. Damn it! And I still lost. Damn it! Damn it was so close! Look at that! I didn't realize that Inside Out 2 made more than Deadpool Wolverine. That's crazy. I... It just makes this whole thing just makes me hate twisters even more. I'm with you, man. Absolutely. Like late July until you have something that bangs on for you. And it man, it it's hard. That's wild. Massive movie. Yeah, it's it's sort of what in my experience with these games,

I've done this more than you guys have. It is you want ideally one of those Deadpool and Wolverine. And then it's just about trying to get those things that really over perform like twisters. Yeah. And that sort of range where it doesn't cost a ton of points. I wish it was already next summer so we could do it again. All right, so do I.

I'm excited. I'm excited to, yeah, the preview what the next summer, like I have no idea what's supposed to come out. No idea. This upcoming summer. I think a bunch of stuff they're saying. I mean, if we play by football rules, Eric just got relegated.
