Hey, 4Play listeners, you can find us every Tuesday and Thursday on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or YouTube.
Prime members can listen ad-free on Amazon Music.
You guys are tailor-made athletes, that's what you are.
Hilarious.
If that's what you are, then I'm going to treat you like one.
Look, Trent in the eye and say that again.
You're a tailor-made athlete.
You are an athlete.
It's beautiful, both.
In my eyes, you are.
That's a beautiful ball.
Foreplay brought to you by Barstool Sports, presented as always by Chevy.
we got a lot to get to. We're joined by Adrian Rete Veldry here from Taylor Made,
who has been on before, right, oh, during, actually on the putting green at Southern Hills.
When we did like a Mishmosh podcast, that we had Tommy Fleetwood, Colin was walking around.
We had Scotty jumped in during that.
You're kind of our Rory MacRoy expert.
Rory just ascended once again for, I think, the ninth time of his career,
to number one in the world.
So, Adrian, welcome back to the show.
Thank you. Thanks having me.
We're here, just to set up.
the stage. We are at
Taylor Made Media
Days. We will
be seeing
and utilizing new product.
That's all we can say.
So if you want to ask other questions out there, folks that are listening
right now, if you want more tidbits, you're not
going to get it, but we will admit that we are on the
Taylor Made truck right now, which we've been on before.
I've seen this truck at a lot of events my first time
inside. It's kind of cool to get it. It's a symbol.
I was stunned that there is no
bathroom. Feels like a miss, but
you know, you've not been on this.
I've never been on this truck before.
Wow.
Yeah, I was on the other side of things before.
This is all new for me.
Wow.
Welcome.
Welcome.
Thank you.
No, it's lovely to be here.
You know how the potus, it's just an automatic power symbol just when he arrives on Air Force One?
This is the tailor made and anyone associated with Taylor Made.
It's a power symbol when you see this truck.
I mean, we're up on the second floor.
It's got two floors.
We're in like a loft on the truck.
Right.
This is like nice than my apartment, maybe.
I'm also higher than you guys, which is a sign of dominance.
if you haven't noticed.
Yeah, Frank is on a bar stool.
They're all looking up at me.
I'm looking down upon you.
If we were in a physical battle,
you would have a strategic advantage.
Yeah.
Throughout history,
it's always been advantageous
for someone to get higher ground.
That's what I've chosen to do.
I do want to say also a form of power
is when you tell me that I can't say something,
I feel really powerful.
Because you could say it?
Just because of where we are
and what we're doing,
I just want to leave it at that.
I thought you were going to Michael Scott it
and say when you tell you not to say something,
you have to say it.
That's all I'm thinking about.
screaming all those things I can't talk about.
I'm picturing the things I can't talk about.
I know something that I can say.
So when I, about, it took 10 years say I've been in this job,
our old truck was the complete opposite of this.
I mean, it was the darkest, shithful, scariest place.
Scary?
I mean, you've got Wade, you know, Wade, you think what,
Wade looks scary in this thing.
You should see him in like a hot, oven,
small truck full of people trying to get clubs and drivers.
Where did this truck make its debut?
It made its debut at the, it was the World Golf Championship.
I think it was like four years ago.
We brought it out, we brought basically four or five of our top guys on, yeah.
We actually parked it in the streets and we just had like a can of hers and some champagne, I guess.
Oh yeah.
So going from that small truck to this truck was like, you know, when you're in college, you get your first house and it's like nothing.
And then all of a sudden, you're like, wow.
Let me ask you about Teller Mae Wade.
Let me ask you about Teller Mae Wade.
I never know if he's like the busiest person on the planet or he's just, everything
he's working on is so important that he like, like every time I look down here because
we have a nice glass view of what you guys are doing in there.
You're making golf clubs.
You're bending things to certain degrees.
He's so dialed in there.
He's almost scary.
Oh, man.
He is, I mean, he's really valued by the company.
But I still think he's the most undervalued person.
I mean, what he does for us, especially for us, reps.
I mean, we're looking, I'm down there.
I'm working on like six or seven bags down there, full bags.
And I'm coming across, like, little speed bumps all the time.
And way he's like, yeah, we'll just do that.
We'll just do that.
And then I'm just literally throwing clubs at him, and he's like throwing them back at me, like, all fixed.
And I'm like, and then he fist pumps me and he moves on to the next one, moves on to the next one.
He is a workhorse of workhorse.
It's just crazy.
We go to all these tournaments, and this thing just appears there, no matter where.
it is in the country, even internationally, there's a truck there from Taylor Made, and Taylor Made Wade's just on it.
It's like, and you're on it. It's just like, you guys are just like doing things on here.
It's one of the more impressive things that I feel like a lot of casual golf fans don't realize goes on day to day.
I mean, they couldn't get my clothes bag to Skylom, but they got this truck over there.
From location to location, again, you talk about Wade and you talk about the value of that guy.
I mean, he is literally our turnkey service.
He drives the thing.
He drives the thing, but, you know, we fly in and out.
As soon as we get you, it's literally even, there's even a spot on this truck where he hides a key just in case.
Yeah. Somebody needs to get in it or one of us has like an early morning and we'll find the key and you can just call him at any time.
Does he like track how many miles he drives per year? It's got to be a ridiculous number.
I mean, the thing is you think of where the tour goes.
I'm saying, like he'll be in Florida for a little, but then they move.
And that's not to mention the customer days that he does, right? So this is he's a PGA tour.
specialist. But then, you know, on the way from tournament A to tournament B, he's pulling
at an account and it's all smiles, he'll build a hundred clubs, you know, that they'll sell,
you know, they're fittings all day and Wade will just be there, giving tours,
the real, like, experience of who he is and in our company. And literally, he, like I said,
I said to him earlier, like, in America, everybody, everybody I speak to, every time I see people
meet each other, the second question they ask is, where do you go?
go to college. And I said to wait. I said, wait, did you go to college? And he went,
I went straight from school to tailormate. Like, he finished and he went to tailormate. That's a,
that's a, that's a favorite question. Yeah. Where'd you go to? Where'd you go to college?
It's a good question. Small school, just outside of Boston. I've heard of that. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I got a question for you. At the Harvard. How, how, you're at the Harvard? How involved?
Yeah. They get of rowing, aren't that?
Yeah, that's exactly right.
The Winkle.
I'm not sure.
Mentioned in a movie I watched one time.
But a really smart guy.
See, this is the problem with this.
You can't, and what are you bringing up?
They should make funny.
You sound like a dickhead if you say it.
It's tough.
Who are some of the worst people that ever went to Harvard?
The worst people?
Did anyone utilize their really good education to turn into a bed?
Ted Kaczynski, no?
Was he?
Was he?
Yeah, exactly.
Aside from Riggs Marshall,
turning to a podcast.
I think, I think they're not.
time. I'm going to have to look it up, but I think the Unabomber
went to Harvard. See, that's what I was going for.
Is there anyone that was like, wow,
we had this guy walking around the guy. They used their powers
for Brad. I don't like the
direction. Like, Baltimore. I think we're just going to be
Googling murderers. We were in a good place a minute
ago. What's our favorite
kind of vehicle, boys and girls?
Chevrolet. I actually rented.
Can you hear you call it?
A Chevy Malibu. Have you seen the commercial
yet? Yeah, they're really, really good.
I want to be with you
everywhere. Nice.
from bolt to blazer
Equinox to Silverado
Chevy Evies are for everyone everywhere
Blewood Mac's one of the greatest
I'm telling you it's the best commercial
that's running on TV right now
every time I've noticed like all the girls
Like if you're like I had a bunch of people in my house
That commercial kid
Yeah a bunch of girls at the house
Chicks at the house
My sister and my mom
But it catches their attention
It's like if this commercial
They've dominated just like
I don't know if they had to pay a shit ton of rights
For this commercial
for this Fleetwood Maxill, but like when you hear it,
you're like Chevrolet. You know now.
They've done that good with this commercial.
Somebody tweet at me a guy has a Chevrolet tattoo, actually,
because I was talking about it.
Around his arm.
Looks great. A few of Chevrolet's beloved and bestselling have been designed
as electric vehicle models powered by Ultium.
Chevrolet has electric vehicles available now by the Bolt EV
and both EUV and reserve now.
The Blazer EV and the Silverado EV.
They are affordable. You don't have to be some rich person to have an EV
with an established full-line brand like Chevrolet,
We are now offering multiple EV vehicles with the volume variety and the value.
Customers are all over the world have come to respect.
Chevrolet EVs for everyone everywhere.
Adrian, I'm curious how directly involved you are in the tweaks of clubs.
There's Taylor Made Wade.
There's the player.
You know, they're out there.
Something's going wrong.
He comes here.
He knows a lot.
You know, how directly involved are you in sort of that exact tweak in helping that.
Players, is that all you're doing?
People like Keith, who's my boss, he's, I mean, he's like 10 years' experience on me,
we would be the decision makers.
So we would call the changes, call the tweaks.
We have the ability to build and kind of make the adjustments ourselves.
But if it's pretty busy out there and, you know, you're kind of going from player to player,
then you kind of call in what we would call the techs, or like Wade, our guys in Europe,
we've got Sam Day, Alex.
Marine and we just you know we could call it in we could write it in we could shout it in
and any questions that they have it come kind of goes back and forth but yeah we I would say us us
reps we we we you know it's on us it's on us the changes for sure so walk me through like a real
life experience of say a Rory or story that you've got Rory's losing to drive it right on the
range on a Monday or Tuesday yeah you're out there with him or any player yeah has help with
what is that process of like he's losing it right to when he's
He gets it dialed and dominates the tour and becomes number one of the world.
I mean, so you're trying to get ready for a tournament,
and as you get closer to game time,
your choices become kind of more and more fine art.
So, you know, a player might be working on something with his coach,
you know, or going through a swing change.
Maybe he's doing some stuff with his, like in the gym or whatever.
But when it's getting closer and closer to game time,
you know, there might be something that the equipment can,
kind of get over the line. I'd say that at the highest level that's a you know you've got 156
guys in the field each guy's got 14 golf clubs and a golf ball. You know your times that you know
work out how many and then how many potential tweaks or changes you can actually have in order
to help your performance and then you've got you know you've got different golf courses you've got
different weather conditions you've got different sands in the bunkers. So from a tweaking standpoint,
no two weeks are the same.
It's not as simple as like, you know, when do you do it?
Because there's so many different scenarios, so many different, you know, turn around.
There's the ref.
I'm going to use him now.
You know, you think of the shaft reps that are out there, you know.
There's people that are pushing testing all the time from a, you know, from a manufacturer's standpoint.
And then there's the reverse of that, which is a player trying to, you know, trying to tweak
can try to perform, you know, maybe it's a certain yardage, maybe it's a softer three-word,
maybe it's, you know, you've got to bomb your driver this week. I want this thing to go as far
as it possibly can. It's got to be amazing when you can, for people that hit the ball,
about as good as it could possibly hit on earth, when you make a tweak that all of a sudden
they even are like, oh, wow, I'm hitting it better. Yeah, like one shot. That first shot,
I think it's the most important shot for us is shot one, because, you know, we used to,
I still get this with, like with Ernie else.
I mean, by the third shot, you don't know if the club's right or wrong,
because everything's going perfect.
You know, Rory's a little, to be fair, Rory's a,
he's an easy fit if you know what you're doing.
But if you, when I say you know what you're doing, I mean, you know what he needs.
Right.
Because, I mean, you can, you can, within 10 minutes,
it'll look so good to you.
Like, you'll just be like, oh, I've just done the best job in the world.
But, you know, then you've got to take it into a tournament, take it under pressure.
And that's where these things kind of show up.
You know, even different from Thursday to Friday to Saturday to back nine on Sunday.
You know, there's a – and majors, majors, you'll see a lot of tweaks
because that's like even more of a, you know, get into the finish line where you've got to be ready to go
whilst you're going to have to wait until next year to win that thing.
So you'll see a lot of players making changes at majors just to –
give him a chance to win.
You hear all these stories about Tiger
and he could feel that the club was
one ounce too heavy
or the weight was in the wrong place.
Is Rory like that too?
Does he have that kind of sixth sense for golf clubs?
Or what is it like working with him
from a fitting perspective?
I think he's evolved.
His knowledge of equipment
and his understanding of the value of the equipment
has evolved tremendously
over the time that we have worked with him.
To a, you know, he's, he's, he's got no, it's funny, he's got, he's got no allegiance to the
equipment.
He's, he's, he's, I can hit anything.
Right.
So you're saying he's not a guy who's like, I want to have a three iron.
I don't like the hybrids.
Like, he'll do anything.
No, no, what I'm saying is that he, he believes he's good enough to hit anything.
So the advice and the team around him, giving him the tools, he trusts it completely.
Yeah.
But in that process, you know, he's probably made, he's probably made the odd mistake,
Yaron there, which he's learned from immediately.
And he'll never make the mistake again.
He's like that type of guy, you know, he's such a sponge for information.
And, yeah, I would say from years ago to now, I mean, he's just re-signed a five-year deal with Taylorman.
Hell yes.
That's a big decision.
Yeah, he's pledged his future to you guys.
that's trust. He doesn't need the money. He doesn't need any of that. He's, you know,
he's made the decision based on facts and information that he's got. And I think, I think it's
best decision is, I think he's going to reap rewards from that. He already has. How big was that
for you and your career that he decided to stay with Taylor Madoff, all the work you're doing
with him specifically? I mean, that's huge. It's, it's, it's, yeah, it's probably the biggest
thing that's happened to me. And I would say, you know, my, my, my, my, my, my, my,
Our boss, Keith, is obviously super close with team Rory.
And, you know, I think renewing Rory McElroy was a badge of honor, a stamp of approval.
Totally.
Yeah, it's make a break for you.
If he leaves, everybody's like, well, that wasn't working.
Adrian was going on there.
You know, he influences the whole pyramid.
Right.
He is.
Yeah, the whole pyramid.
I mean, the amounts of, the amounts of conversations that I have, you know,
when you're trying to acquire players or trying to help players and just,
just live out of him thinking about it,
you quote Rory or you mention Rory,
and the attention just goes straight to you.
You know, if you're doing what he's doing,
you're not far from getting it right, I think.
You've just got to have the talent, I guess.
When we talk about the really good part, Rory,
does something stand out in your career so far
that you, like, messed up someone's golf club horrifically?
And, like, you, like, is there one time that you thought
that you did the wrong thing with someone's golf club?
I always wonder that.
that you actually put them in a bad spot with the club?
Yeah.
Yeah, for sure.
And that's how you learn, right?
Everybody learns from mistakes.
Well, that adds to the pressure too.
Holy shit.
And then if you got the relationship with the player,
he'll call you straight off to the around and tell you you you fucked up.
Right.
And you're like, yeah.
That's a fun fun following out.
Well, that's also a big test for you to admit it.
Of course.
Because they don't want somebody that just wants to claim that right.
They're like, you know, you probably feel terrible.
A recent one with Fleetwood.
I'll tell you, so he's, you know, trackman has got heaps and heaps of information.
And these guys, you know, with all due respect to them, they don't, they don't quite understand it in its entirety.
You know, like some do, but I'm going to tell you that that's 5%.
And I think that the device probably can hurt more people than can help if you don't know what you're working with, right?
And he called me and he said to me, look, he's been messing with trackman a little bit.
And he's like, you know, what should my driver numbers be?
What should my driver do?
And I just went straight off like what the facts said in the manual.
And I was like, and most people you would look at it.
And I'd say, yeah, your past got to be this three to draw.
Your face angle's got to be this.
Make sure your angle of attack stays around this number.
And afterwards, he's gone and played and he's literally, you know, I'm watching this on TV.
And this ball's like looking there.
Yeah, when you see that on TV, you're probably like the most unhappy person ever.
So he says, I need you to get, so he said to me, can you, can I, can I get like his averages and stuff?
So I go back in the history.
I go back to like 2017, 2018 in my history on Trackman.
And I export all the, all the Excel files, every single data point, right?
And then, so you know, you'll know this, the Harvard guy, you know, right?
You know, you can, like, you can filter and you can kind of pull out certain numbers.
So I start creating parameters on the spreadsheet as in like...
Like you use Apple numbers.
When he hits the fairway, what's his face, what's his path?
And it was completely different to what I told him.
And I said, we sat down and we sat down last week.
And I said to him, yeah, mate, I messed you up there, right?
Holy God.
What was the calculation of how much money you cost?
Actually, this was when I was delivering him back the data.
Yeah.
Because, you know, he's like, wow, you got all this data.
And I'm like, look, that's where...
And it was amazing how consistent.
to us from 2017, 2018 to today, his best shots and his shots that he's hit the fairway
with have been within these parameters. And it's like, and I know that his short game coach
does it with his wedges. And then I was like literally like, I know I messed up, but this is where
we're at, right? And then last week he drove it, I mean, he finished third, uh, fourth, where do
he finished fourth last week. Wow. That's amazing. I, uh, Rorgen McElroy said something on Sunday
that I feel like probably resonated with you guys a lot.
And honestly, it could be on the painted on the front of this bus.
He said, I never figured this game out, but every day I wake up trying to get closer.
And so my question for you is, what is Rory?
Because it looks like right now he's firing on all cylinders.
It looks like the game is just perfect.
Everything's there.
What's he been working on?
What's given him problems right now that's been a focus in your guys' tune-ups?
So I think if you look at, so a year ago, right, he won the CJ Cup.
In Vegas, right?
Yeah, that was like the, you know, the moment where he'd literally turned a corner.
Still had a long way to go from there.
But if you look at his wedge stats from 12, 18 months ago to today,
I mean, you're looking at somebody who was outside the top 100,
someone who hits it, you know, he obviously hits a lot of wedges.
So his averages will, you know, he's not, but he's literally first.
I think he's, I would say he's first or second in wedge play from a certain yardage.
And, I mean, that's dangerous for someone who hits the block he does off the T.
So it's come a long way there.
We have done, you know, we've done, he went to, you went to the high-bound wedges,
and then we went through the open, and we kind of took a little bit of the bounce off, off the wedges.
But they still fairly, fairly high-dounce, which is something that a consumer could really kind of learn from.
Because it's, you know, it's forgiveness.
You basically...
And it's literally the best player in the world who's off.
for more forgiveness.
Yeah, exactly.
And he's doing it.
And he's got amazing feels.
And that was a big, I think that was a big thing.
It was Keith moving in, moving him into those wedges and him kind of putting in the
work himself on his wedge game.
It was something that we identified.
I mean, he's used the same driver set up and spec all year, which is very, if it ain't
Broke.
Which is, you know, well, you know, you probably used Bible 6 setups last year.
Oh, really?
He picked up speed this year, right?
Versus last year, ball speed?
I don't know.
No, I think he's, so he was, the thing is he tried to, or he worked on gaining speed.
And he was up at 190 ball speed.
I remember, I think it was, I think it was last year Abu Dhabi time, like in the start of the year.
I mean, he was, he was at 190 ball speed.
He could get at 190 plus.
Jesus.
And then this year, that was the one thing we did with his.
driver was after Abu Dhabi, which is beginning of the year, we took half an inch off
his driver. So we made it shorter, 44 and a half. And we haven't looked back since then.
So that, you know, essentially, you know, he's actually, he's kept the speed, but he's gained
control with what we've done. And he's his launch conditions. I mean, the numbers that he was
putting up last week was so impressive. It was like 187, just cruise.
Just cruising, right?
And that's the word, right?
So when you look at him and I've never come across,
I'm yet to come across a golfer in my whole career
who can swing in balance like that.
Right.
But it's easy.
You know, everyone on the LPGA does it,
but that's at 150 ball speed.
Yeah, that's true.
You're watching some guys.
You're looking at a finely oiled machine, yeah.
He's not the biggest guy, you know.
There's some numbers, man.
No, but it's true.
I mean, you see some guys.
Yeah, he's crazy.
You see some guys like,
And they can get it to 190, but it's a violent move.
Right.
And they have to put...
So smooth.
Like bracing.
You got to put every single ounce of his being and doing any grunts and he's...
Rory's holding the finish.
And those guys, they break drivers.
They break them.
They, you know, they hit him like on...
You know, they kind of put the club through its paces that it actually fails.
Yeah.
This guy, he's faster than them and the club still looks brand new.
Is that just because of how consistent it is, the strike?
I mean, it's...
It's super consistent.
I mean, they're all consistent.
They all hit the same part of the...
the club face, they have the same tendencies.
But, I mean, it's almost like he just kisses the ball down there, 3.30.
That's so good.
Yeah, seriously.
This is it 330.
I'm going to use that.
I just kiss that one.
Just kiss it.
I can't imagine how nerve-wracking watching him play must be because you have no control
once he's out there, yet you're so emotionally, personally, professionally attached to the result.
For sure.
And so he's, so you're with him at a tournament.
you're watching him prepare.
He's obviously got a lot of commitments.
But he's so precise in his structure.
You always see him going all first for the pro-Av.
Straight into the press room.
You know, everybody knows where he is.
And I finish, I fly home.
He's always on the feature group.
So you can watch every shot.
You're on that.
You can't escape.
So we're flying back.
So we're on the West Coast.
So it's as soon as you wake up,
you know what time he's on and you're literally watching every shot and if he's and if he's if he's
going through a time where he's not playing great you're just you know waiting for it to turn and
if he's if he's playing well you just know that he's got no fear of going low and that's fun that's fun
to watch wow that's yeah i uh i think watching him hit a driver is is aesthetic of a athletic thing in any
sport that currently exists.
I mean, like Steph Curry, you know, shooting from three.
But it's when he just swings that driver, I mean, I'll never forget the 72nd
hole at Sawgrass, what he won there.
And he just instantly pulled driver, stood on that tea.
No hesitation.
So, I mean, you couldn't even, Harry couldn't even get the bag out of the way
clicking up, right?
He literally walked, like, tea in the ground.
And like you couldn't even look again, and the ball's in mid-fly.
That was like, I remember that.
I was like, okay.
That was so cool.
And that's.
I've seen DJ do that as well in a playoff in a piece.
But yep, on Glen Oaks.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Over the water.
When he just hit it over the water.
But yeah, I remember that because that's, that course is one that every fan knows so well
that when that player walks from 17 to 18 and they got a one or two-stroke lead,
The fan knows, like, okay, I've seen some bad shots go left here.
I know this hole.
This is a dangerous one.
I wonder what he's going to do.
And then they cut to him and he was in the middle of his back swing.
What was that other one that Rory was getting dark?
And I think, I think, like, someone was in 2014.
Oh, that was 2014.
Yeah.
Yeah, that was the Peejester.
He was playing in a Lhalla.
Yeah, they waved the group up.
Phil was not happy.
Phil was not happy.
Yeah, no, it's true, though, Riggs.
When you say it's like one of those aesthetically pleasing things, you know,
I go to a lot of golf tournaments, but when you go on the T-box and there's clearly people who have been standing there all day waiting to see these guys hit driver, and then they see Rory hit one, and you hear more ooze and odds of just like, oh my goodness, I did not expect that exertion of force and yet so graceful.
It's amazing to watch.
At Augusta, all those seats behind the 8th tee.
Yep.
That is one of the most iconic driver shots in golf.
and my boss
he used him and his dad
they'll go to Augustine and they'll go and put
their seats down
right behind that 80
seven watch drivers all day
amazing yeah you can see it against the
dark background so you can see the flight
and they so
educated the fans
they know a good one when they sit right
and they make that certain sound
when the ball's flying over their bunker
down the ride
boys
girls
everything, children, everywhere.
Anyone listening, really?
Okay.
Sports are in full bloom.
We got everything's gone on.
You can't.
You get tickets to the Yankee game.
No, you can't because they lost.
I don't know.
That was a bad joke.
Do you not watch sports?
I was kidding.
Every time someone tweets out of me like,
oh, did the island just play tonight?
I'm like, did you not watch the game?
I don't know.
You're definitely not mad about it, though.
Why would I be mad about my favorite?
One of my favorite teams is going to play.
They're going to be mad about that.
You're like surprised I'm mad the Yankees lost.
And then Chels back, and if you want to see any games this season, you need game time.
You don't like sports.
Official ticketing partner of partial sports.
That's right.
Of the four play golf podcast, if you want to go watch Rory McElroy play golf, which we talk about a lot on this, go get tickets on game time.
If you want to go to a concert.

him on putters and putter tweaks i know we talk so much about his ball strike everybody knows that
and over the last couple years he's fought one now he's number one so clearly he's putting it well but
his our spider x he's he's he's made that putter iconic yeah i think you know there's a lot of
there's certain shapes and certain looks of putter that over the years have become you know from
from different manufacturers that have made putters iconic i think that he's he's made
for this. One of a, and we, you know, again, when he's, when he's putting well, he's the best
putter in the world, but in that time where we were here, where he was trying to work it out
and trying to find his putting, and again, I give him the credit there because he put, he put
a blade putter in at the Olympics, you know, just, you know, just, you know, just, maybe just
fed up with, not quite holding enough, he's put a blade putter in, he comes, he comes, he
comes back, comes out of that,
Spider, straight back in the bag.
It was at,
I think it was one of the playoff events.
It was in BMDW.
I'm just saying, I was out to the Olympics.
It was a unique course, yeah.
I think, I can't really, probably won.
DJ was up there.
You know, it was like a Bombers course,
but anyway.
Was it Keyes Valley?
Case Valley, there you go, right?
So I see him on the putting green
and we're talking about the putter, right?
You know, because like that blade was like a surprise
to the whole,
company and he literally said to me he said you can't believe how good my bad days are with
the spider versus anything else and and he worked that out himself right we knew it I mean we
had done stats on it you know over the course of his career he's he's he's moved from a
from a blade to a manor to you know and and we track every shot that he hits and and literally
you look at the good days and they're all
few and far between, but you look at the bad days, and it's like, wow, this guy's saving
shots per round. And that's, you know, I think that that is something where you can go is
testament to the product, because over eight, nine years, you've seen the trends and you've seen
what it does. And I think that, that says a lot. It is incredible, the spider, when we first,
two years ago, went to the kingdom, and we were on the little putting lab and the whole deal.
Yeah.
And then going through how if you hit a putter pure, right in the street spot, middle words, designed
to be hit pretty much no matter what putter uses.
You're going to get a pretty consistent role.
It's going to be similar than they were talking about with the spider, how if you hit it
on the toe, you hit it on the heel, and then doing the extrapolating the difference and
where that putter will end up on a five-foot putt, on a 20-foot putt, and the proximity to the
whole difference with the spider, it was laughable.
it was essentially like almost every human on earth that walks into this lab we'll walk out with the
conclusion that you need to be using a spider for sure for sure i think even the i was one i was looking
at the we get like surveys where you can they do product counts at like every major amateur
event you know they call it the dell server and um we i was looking at like one of the strongest
amateur fields and Taylor made like oh we had one we've literally one
were a big count in putters and like that's quite a surprise for us because we
normally quite quality we have like you know we look for the best players
and then I kind of broke it down into the models and everyone was using the
spider a spider of some sort and I think that that has a lot to do with Rory
again because he's such an influencer
and, you know, they say like, you know, with wins on Sunday, sells on Monday,
but he is, when you talk about influencing players, you get it for free.
And there's not that many in golf that are influential like that.
There's really not pretty compressed at the top.
He's a needle new there for sure.
He's one of a few and he's massive when it comes to that.
Yeah.
He's absolutely massive.
We're super proud of him, man.
We're lucky to have him.
And we've got him.
for what I think will be the best stretch of his career which is to come.
When you see a player that you guys are not, is not part of Team Taylor Made,
and you see them putting a tailor-made club in the back because that give you like a little
little pepper and stuff like, yeah, we don't even need to pay this guy.
It's, we like these days, you know, there's a lot of, you know, everybody's kind of contracted
and locked in and so there's not as much, like especially the PGA tour.
I worked on a European tour man.
it was a sport within a sport to get, you know, tailor-made in it.
And, you know, we would push numbers for that.
But I think, you know, we still get 60, 70 Fairway Woods in play every week.
I mean, we've only got eight to ten staff players.
And that's, you know, that's testament to the product.
I think, I think.
It's amazing.
You know, for sure.
And, you know, that's where you kind of, you know, maybe a guy's got a 12.
or an 11 club deal and he's looking for a bit of freedom in the bag and and and and I
send you like a you up text like you know like hey man yeah thinking about a new freewood get a real
flirty three three words have come such a long way man it's hard you know me what we make a that's
is that true oh man they've come such a long way what do you mean well we so that rocketball
freewood I have to remember that we we advertised 17 yards
you know, legally.
And it literally went like,
that was a big turning point for Taylor Made.
And, you know, since then, we've managed to grow on that,
on that product and that technology.
And I think, like, you know,
three woods go as far as drivers now if you want them to.
Yeah, yeah, they do.
You know, they come off.
You know, we make a high-launch three-wood,
which is, you know, almost, you know,
since when would somebody say they want to hit it shorter?
You know, the three-woods created that.
I've seen a lot of guys, I think Rory goes just to a five-wood, right?
Because the three-wood...
Rory's like...
He's quite unique because, you know, his driver's so long
that he almost needs a three-wood to keep up with that.
And then he's got this huge gap which goes to his five-wood.
So he needs a five-wood which is, like, very versatile.
He's probably got to cover, you know, 40-50 yards with one club.
you think of the jacking in your bag
you know
I think that's something
you want to watch that guy
hit a five wood
it is
what are those yards
what is that
what a two two to
so so so so so what
so he is probably about
290 with a three wood
maybe 295
yeah so everything
so you could probably get a five wood
to 280 if you wanted to
but he could also probably hit it
you know 255
like a moon cut shot or something
you should see it man
it's so impressive
it's so impressive
it's so impressive
impress. It's just, it's such a smile on you. It just literally goes like, and you look at the
track, you look at the numbers and it's just literally like on his yardies again and again and again.
I remember that's interesting because he's, you know, he's bag. Think of, think of the space he has to
fill from zero yards to whatever. I can hit his driver. Say that's even 350. Right. Right.
He only got 14 clubs to fill that space where somebody, you know, who it's at 280, you
you know they can almost get they almost have two clubs that go the same distance but one goes high
and one goes low whereas rory can't have that's an interesting point about the guy he's a he's a real shot maker so
you know and a lot of a lot of these guys who hit it long have have more wedges because there's so much
gaps that they need to pull there but you know rory you know he doesn't Thursday through sunday
are you like taking in data and like are you conversing with the players at all like would be a text
or whatever, or is your job with them essentially done on a Wednesday?
No, we're always talking.
It's trying not to, if a player messages you,
then you kind of engage in conversation and talk with him,
but you'll never, you'll never, like,
I don't feel like you should message them during a tournament
because you might make them think about something they don't really want to think about, right?
Even if something stands out to you, you're just going to let it go.
If something stands out, they're probably going to message you.
Right.
No, they're going to know before you.
So are you taking in that data all Thursday through Sunday?
You're looking at all the stats and every single launch angle and carry.
Yeah, and you try and watch.
What do your Excel sheets look like?
Are they ridiculous?
We've got a guy.
How did you get into this?
Let me check those things out.
His name's James Cornish.
He's our like analytics.
He leads up at an analytics department.
I could message you now for anything.
literally, you know,
give me,
whether it's a,
from an amateur to,
to Rory McElroy,
and I could,
you know,
say,
how did Rory putt last week from eight feet?
How was Tommy on,
on right to left is,
you know,
through the week,
or, you know,
and literally,
you know,
you just,
there's a little gap.
The hell is this guy?
There's a little silent,
like,
Tom.
He's crunching the numbers.
He's crunching the numbers,
and then he gets it to you.
And,
you know,
even down to,
you know, I could, I think a cool one for me is I was, I had a player that I was, I was really
trying to get, trying to help him, trying to get, you know, product in his bag for sure,
but also trying to help him press on. And I asked, I asked James just to send me, he hit it
like similar to Rory. And I asked James just to send me like a full stat of the golf course.
The guy was playing the next week, like, where, what, he was the first time he was playing this big,
bigger tournament.
And I kind of sense him literally like,
so he had seen the course before he had even seen the course,
which was cool.
You think of these like Augusta,
you can do it quite heavily on because you've got so much data on there.
But a lot of these golf courses have been played year in, year, right?
You've got to go in blind, yeah.
You know, that's the tough thing.
A new guy on tour has to play against guys who not only have been there for the last five years,
but they've played the same course maybe a hundred times more.
It's funny how hearing you talk about how amazing this equipment is
and how well everybody does with it.
And then it just makes me feel like such an asshole
when I go out,
just can't get a driver on the planet or something.
Think about how much worse we'd be without it, though.
Yeah, totally.
That's your missus, right?
You've got to get your misses and these players swear by it, right?
You're giving better misses that product's worse.
Well, that's sort of Tiger's point now, right?
It's like everybody's more like this
because the equipment allows people to miss me.
And that's, yeah, I think we're pushing the limits.
We've pushed the limits.
Everybody has so much.
from the distance standpoint and I think from a driver's standpoint we're definitely there.
It's now about, you know, how much forgiveness you can...
Right.
And I think as you...
Which is why the carbon thing comes into it because of the...
You know, you're trying to...
You have so much weight to work with and the more you can move around the head,
the more you can kind of control that forgiveness and carbon's lighter and because it's lighter,
So you can now, you know, you can, I remember when I had 10 grams of weight to work with, right, Darren Clark, Ritif Guss in those days.
And you had these valuable 10 grams and, you know, you needed to make that ball do a little something for that guy which would help him.
Now, I mean, I reckon I've got 30, 40 grams, you know, at times, you know.
That's a lot of power there, man.
It's interesting hearing you talk about the misses because that is such an important part.
of equipment is how are the misses but then you watch these guys on the range and they don't
miss so how do you go about figuring out the misses i think the misses are just tighter right
there is no i know but i'm saying do you stay out there and you want them you want to see them hit a
bad one right because you want to see how it reacts yeah for sure so you wait for it yeah wait and you wait
could be waiting for a long time and you go on the course right you know the range is one one part
i mean i mean you go on the course you get them into awkward positions why wouldn't you
read a driver you know i just don't feel comfortable with that shot well why not yeah let's see yeah
exactly questioning so important um because that's how you you know you find out what's important
to the player right and that's half the battle it's fitting is is you know what's most important to
you about hitting a three wood one guy might be hidden loads of three woods off the tee with the
other guy might never hit a three wood off the tea but if you don't ask the question you know
you're not going to know where to go with it.
We have a favorite mortgage company on this podcast.
Cross-country mortgage.
By far.
We're in love with the mortgage company.
I don't even know if there's a close second.
Frankie's in debt to them.
I am in debt to them.
Literally.
Literally.
They're amazing.
A lot of conversations in my boys group chat about needing houses and everyone's like,
you know, they're in the market for a new house and interest rates and mortgage rates.
No one knows where to go.
And I've sent every single one of them to cross-country mortgage.
And I swear that people have taken my work.
for it and they're now using it, which is insane.
Like, it actually is working. You have to live somewhere.
Yeah.
Try as well own it. Unless you're more interested in paying someone else's mortgage,

So we did mention off the top that it's, you know,
there's new product going on.
How is this this type of a week where, you know,
a lot of people are going to see new product for the first time?
What's this week like for you?
Well, it's, it's, how can I say this?
it's a stage in the process which we've been working towards for months, right?
So I think that it's, we need to be ready to test.
Again, we talk about that first hit, that first experience with the product.
This is like the final exam, call it that, in what you've been working on.
You know, you get feedback, you launch a product, you launch a product,
You launched a revolutionary product like stealth at the beginning of the year where you've changed the whole face and you're doing all of that now
You can only learn so much until that product is launched now you've got a whole
Year to get that feedback get that feedback from the players get it in you know where you where you're now talking about
You know the first generation car versus the second generation car that's your biggest leap in in
Advancements right? Right, because you're that's where you're
learned the most we're going into like I think I think when you go into like the third
generation and that type of stuff you're now making smaller finite changes maybe
something that's quite specific to certain players but going from it you know mark one to
mark two is especially with something which you've never you know it's it's new it's new to the
it's it's it's it's it's new to the industry as in like in terms of it's made its mark I mean
that's one, it's done great.
It's been, it's one of the best products I've worked with and, you know, talk about Rory
using, you know, the same setup all year.
It's obviously good validation of the product.
I think that's true.
I think Rory's good.
And then, you know, and that's just, that's just a driver, right?
Right.
You know, there's a lot of categories, man.
There's a lot of categories.
You better start talking about all the things, you know.
Yep.
Not a lot to say anything more.
It's tough been tough.
This is a good way to keep Frankie quiet.
He just can't.
Can't say what he wants to say.
You get the setups, right?
You've got to get, you know, that's the other thing.
You've got to give the product, the opportunity to shine.
Right.
So.
That's stuff for us sometimes.
I can't wait.
We got to give these.
We got to give the equipment.
I love it.
I'm talking, you know, you're talking about the best, these are the best players in the world.
They're, they're, you know, they're the best of the best.
Last year when the stealth came out, he went to the range and they're like, you're, you're
hitting technology that's been in preparation and being made for 20 years.
Back that up.
I legitimately topped my first, I would say 11 drives.
So many.
I couldn't get in the air.
Everyone's standing around being like, all right, we know that the technology works.
You're just doing something wrong.
It ends up being a shaft issue, which is insane.
But I couldn't get the ball in the air.
So, like, yeah, that definitely has to do with the setup.
Think of these guys.
People are like, what do you think?
Yeah, I was like, I hate it.
I hate it.
But then it's the best club I've ever had.
I think of these guys.
They're literally the best of their
class at that
skill. Right.
So now you're basically telling them
you can help them a little bit more.
Oh yeah.
So the club you give them has to be so
measured and so finely tuned.
So now what you're doing is you're giving them
something where the only difference
between these two clubs is
what we say is the advancements in the technology.
So you hit these clubs, the difference you're going to see
is going to be through tech.
Right. I see what you're saying. Yeah, that's crazy.
But if you gave them two different clubs, like,
oh, he plays a nine head and you gave him a ten and a half.
I mean, that technology means nothing.
Because you've over, you've overdone it with giving the guy the wrong.
Right, the other one with the nine is going to be better, the old one.
Especially with these guys, they're finely tuned athletes and the measurements.
Like, you show them, you show them a little bit of forgiveness,
you show them a little bit of ball speed or something,
or a little tightness in spin characteristics.
They think they've just won the lotto.
Right.
Well, I mean, they can get 1% better.
Exactly.
And it's amazing how fast you can see somebody go from,
being in love with something to be in love with something else.
In a non-athletic comparison, it's like giving your dad a new TV.
In his like same spot he sat in for the last 40 years.
Like you've been clicking this button for a long time.
You've been watching TV.
I'm going to give you something that you don't have to change anything,
but it's just going to be better.
Right.
And he's like, I don't know about this.
I have all these remotes.
So nope, you're just going to click on.
And it's just going to be clear.
Same thing that you did yesterday.
You don't have to change the thing.
Same click.
It's just going to be 4K now.
And then he's like, holy shit
He's got to trust him
And he's looking at it
And the next time he sees you, he's like, yeah
That TV, wow
Yeah, exactly
You literally have to hang up into the chair
And four seem to open his eyes
It's gonna be a positive or a negative experience
Like Rick's saying or he can't turn it on
And he's put four, what does that mean?
It's like the dad from four Christmases
He's like, dad, I got you do Saturday TV
It's like you think I want some sex
A predator walking through my house
Stiff in my underwear like
No, he's just gonna come
He's just going to help you.
He's just going to help you.
I don't want any of that shit.
I'm going to start watching that movie again.
It's almost Christmas season.
I think it's really,
it's really fascinating how much
goes into
everything involved with your guys' athletes
because it's not,
oh, Roy Maggroy is a tailor-made athlete now.
You guys just ship up a bag of clubs
and you're like, good luck.
And he has to like rep the Taylor-Made name.
No, it's like, it is a true,
he's part of the family.
You are dialing him in.
You make a really good.
point where rory doesn't need the money he doesn't need anything he just wants the best product that is
going to make him better he can he has that choice and he picks tailor made yeah which is which is and that
was you know when nike came out of um equipment that that was a big that was a big stage for tailor
made because it was you know it was basically the product rory and tiger the product and the people
I mean, we got things you look at from Francesco to, you know, there were a lot of, there was a lot of free stuff up for grabs.
Totally.
You know, Brooks played out in our woods for a long time.
And that was the ultimate kind of contest between like the product and the reps and ripping and operation.
You know, these guys are going to want to test stuff.
They're going to want to sort their kit out as soon as possible.
I would say that Taylormade won that toss up hands down.
Brooks was using the, I think one of the M's when he was winning his majors.
And I remember they asked him about it.
He was like, yeah, that company doesn't pay me.
So it's the same driver that it's been.
So yeah, no, I would think a guy who's not, doesn't have an equipment deal and has the
tailor made club in the bag, that's another huge badge of honor for you guys.
Yeah, it is.
It is.
It's a, yeah, it's pride for us because.
They all seem to want to test everything because they have the ability to do that, the opportunity to do that.
And that's where we're able to put forward our best foot and show what we made of.
I think you're talking about the athletes again and something which I love about this,
what we're going to experience now, is watching them interact together.
you know, in a serious slash competitive fun environment,
I've got so many memories and stories from these events.
And they're such, I think at the end of the day you realize these guys are like golf nerds,
just like you guys.
But just on another stratosphere in terms of skill and talent and ability.
I would think that's fair.
But they love it just as much.
And you watch them, you know, enjoy their passion and communicate and learn from each other.
You know anything for a pinched nerve in the shoulder blade or what?
You know any tricks?
I'm dealing with some back pain today.
I can't believe we made it this far on the podcast before Frank.
He was all even hearing about a good hour.
He's, you moonlight as a chiropractor.
He has been a bit quiet.
He has been a bit quiet.
He has been a bit quiet.
the last time.
And I know what the problem is
is that I knew
like we're,
we're having a really good
conversation with you,
so I knew that I wasn't
able to get my complaining
about my back in,
so I brought it up mid it happened anyway.
I had to.
I know I become the boy
who cries injury
when it comes to a lot of my ailments.
Every time,
this is the one that's real.
I'm not kidding.
Is it tougher?
Well, I said it's about my elbow
and I got goddamn surgery on it.
So that was number one.
That was real.
You said your leg was basically
broken in Oregon and you were walking
fine two days later.
Still hasn't been fixed.
Came back.
At some point it's on you
to just figure this stuff out.
I'm letting you know I knew that I'd come on to this podcast
and you guys would say he's just making it up again.
He's pathetic.
I haven't said a word since we started talking about ear.
I'm letting you know this is the one.
All right.
Frankie and I were something pinched back now.
Now we're wasting Adrian's time with this.
Adrian,
what are you thinking about my guess?
He's about to come up here.
How much is he helped you and, you know, out there in the field?
It was a little annoying to stars.
Oh!
This is why we loved to help.
Was he trying too hard?
it was he like the new hire who's trying to word?
It would never be me.
So hard.
He was a little annoyed.
He was like, but I always say he's definitely grown on us for sure.
He's made, you know, we used to, we have these relationships with these players where, you know, there's, there's, it's, it's kind of more, you know, we're trying to help him win that week.
We're trying to get him over the line.
It's equipment based.
We're not trying to get like content or information.
or asks out of them. It's something, but it takes a special kind of person to,
to, to, to, to, to, to do that. Yeah. And, and, and, and, and, and, and, I think, I think, I think,
he's, he's, he's definitely growing on the players. He, he, he, he's hard to do. It's got to be
very hard to, like, well, because, because everybody wants their time, right? Everybody wants
their time, but, but, but I think, I think, you know, you know, patience and he, timing in, in, in, in
everything that he's done has been, it's really helped our company. I think, I think when, you also
with us, I think with the reps, he sends us, you know, there's a lot of like media out there
that'll ask us questions and we just won't, we just can't answer it.
Because it's, it's about our players and we don't want to share that information.
Right.
Whereas, you know, Mike can ask us, and I think he's got the trust of the reps and the team
where we'll share whatever we want with him and he, he packages it up, you know, to tell a story
so that people can learn about, you know, what goes in, what we do.
it's got two phones too which is very
I just noticed that it's very official
you got two cell phones
I think we gotta bring Mike up
a burn it yeah
well Adrian we appreciate you as always
it's fascinating hearing from you especially
a week after Rory
ascended again the number one
he's like you said on the show that you think
he's entering what's probably going to be the best
best phase of his entire career
he looks so at peace
even this year you know he didn't get the major
he's top eight I believe in every major
he was right there he's won a bunch of times
He's number one in the world, FedEx, the whole thing.
So hearing a lot about him and somebody that's so close to him, it's just really cool.
We appreciate the insight.
Awesome, man.
Yeah, he's just going to get better.
Is Taylor made where you're going to give you shit for coming on a show and being like the star of a show?
Do you guys have like, oh, Mr. Hollywood?
When one guy comes down from an interview, he's like, oh, how'd that go?
Yeah, when I walk downstairs there, like nobody makes our contact.
They're all right.
Now it's like they've done all the work and I've just been sitting up.
But I appreciate it, guys.
I really do.
I think you guys are great.
Thank you.
Thank you.
The more than merrier, let me on.
We'll have back on.
This is like a band bus, man.
I love it.
It is.
Just everything about it's awesome.
Think of what we could do up here, man.
I want to get some like competitions going on PlayStation or TV.
Oh, yeah.
We're about to be in the video game.
We should get the 2K game.
Yeah, that's what we should do.
Come on.
We'll get you guys some coats.
Yeah, we'll get there.
Let's do that.
And then I'll get the players to come and then you can actually play against these guys on a level that you're good at.
That's a great idea.
We're in.
We're in.
Really good.
You got to see?
I think you just promised that to us.
Stealth's in the game, by the way.
I was trying to equip myself.
Stealth is the game, buddy.
Were you topping it or was it?
I couldn't get it.
You have to get like some pack.
Oh, man.
You got to earn it.
You got to earn it.
You got to know a red.
You got a knife.
You got a night.
I didn't know you had to like beat him in a match to get the stealth.
That's the coolest game ever.
That's great.
Yeah.
I love that.
Thank you, Adrian.
All right, man.
Cheers, guys.
Thanks, everyone.
Come on up here.
Mike. All right, we got Mike Essie coming up next.
Who is our, he gets a lot of shout-outs.
This is it, Mike. A little annoying at first.
Yeah, that's fair.
How are you, Mike?
I'm good.
This is one year ago today, I think we met you.
Yeah, so this time last year, we had no idea who each other were.
That's right.
You know who Riggs was.
I knew who you were, but we didn't know each other.
That's not. That's not. I don't agree with that.
And I got a random assignment to, uh,
be your guys as babysitter and I guess I've done
a good job. You were. You've done a great job.
Occasionally you have to deal with that.
You know what you are terrible for you. You are
at least from my vantage point. You're a guy who gets
shit done. You're just a get shit done
type of guy and we need guys
like that. Taylor made needs guys like
that. And yeah, when we met you
a year ago, we had you doing all sorts of
things. I mean, we put these
athletes through strange scenarios.
You know, people have seen the videos now.
But you were just always on top of it. Like,
yep, we can get that. Yep, we can get that.
I think at one point you were a cameraman because we needed so many different angles of this video that we were doing that Mike Essie just stepped up and held a camera.
So, yeah, I think it's been a good and it's been a good year.
You know, we've been in contact a lot.
We've been in multiple countries together.
We have been with the Scotland together.
One year behind the scenes, actually.
Yeah.
How's that feel crazy?
It's been wild.
It's been quick.
So I, like, the background I come from, and I was a TV producer before this, gets me ready for the get shit.
on because when you're just getting yelled at for three hours about deadlines,
deadlines and highlights and all of those things.
TV producer a pretty legitimate place.
Yeah.
So when you're live TV?
Yeah.
When you're working on SportsCenter and everyone in the room is trying to get the right thing done.
And then you go from that to like Frankie asking me if I have a blindfold, that's a walk in the park.
Right.
And when it's timing, like, I mean, I'm never working live TV, but I can the things that when I was Dave's like strictly producer, whenever we would
something that was like time sensitive that was always the most obviously the most stressful
part because you're like not only do you have to get it done you have to get it right but you have
to get it done now so live tv definitely grooms you i can imagine where it's like you know what time
sports center is going on it's going on at six o'clock with like scott van pell and if he doesn't
have this information then it's over like it's done that's we don't have 605 and i and i've made
my fair share of mistakes there as well so i kind of while i i'd like to say i had a lot of
success. I also, let's see, I also
cause Scott Van Pelt to go on two minutes
late because my top plays
were like two minutes too long.
So what do they do? What do they do? They're picking top plays? They run
another ad or what do they do? They just, yeah, my job
was top plays. What do you mean your job was top plays? Like, you literally
just pick the best plays and you just went to 10 best
plays and you picked that is like, see,
that's like finding a f***. When I'm watching the top 10 and I'm like,
this is the most bullshit number one. We got to cut that out. Hold on. We have to cut
that out. Yeah, we got some kids watching.
Just in case.
You just bleep it out.
I said something for all the parents.
I said something about a jolly white man, a jolly white beard man during Christmas time.
And I don't want your kids to hear it.
Maybe you're playing it in the kitchen right now.
Or maybe you're playing this podcast in your living room and your kids sitting around.
What I just said can't be said during the holiday season.
So we're bleeping that out.
Thank you very much.
But finding that out, like finding that out because I don't want to know that Mike Essie is the one that's picking the top ten.
I wanted it to be like the best play in the fucking country.
I don't want this fucking guy picking the...
That's the job, man.
That's crazy.
That's like what I'm saying, when I watch the top 10 and I'm like, oh my God, how the hell did anyone in the world think this was the number one play?
Right. That was over. That's a topic debate. That's your job.
Wow.
Here's what I'll say.
Wow.
That's insane.
When you work there at that place, it is a very cutthroat place in the sense.
And this is why it was a great place to work.
And this is why it was a great experience for me that's translating to my job now.
So as you get there, you're 22 years old.
You're doing top 10.
Yeah.
Like that, that's how that place operates.
and if you're great at it, you will elevate you like that.
And if you're not, you will be not doing top ten.
I did a internship there.
Yeah.
So you know.
Yeah, a little bit.
I didn't love Bristol.
I mean, not many people do.
Yeah, not my favorite place in the world.
Was any party you trying to pick the top plays a little controversially so people would talk about it?
No, I, I mean, most people did, but like, you take it as a big deal.
Of course.
Like, you want to get this right.
Such a big deal.
That's a top ten guy worked a ball.
Isn't it always like?
Where did you like aggregate them to choose from?
You can't watch every game all day.
Was it like you just picked the social media account?
You found the best or something?
There's 75 people.
75 people in the room plus hashtags on Twitter.
That's why I can't believe you're the one doing it.
75 people in the route.
There are filters to it, right?
Because you would have your supervisor.
You would have a producer.
You would have the talent on the show.
So there are filters to what you were doing.
But yeah, I mean, you use resources.
But think about this.
What if you're doing?
What if you were assigned and doing top 10?
on July 18th during the MLB All-Star break and a non-Olympic year and there are no sports
happen out. And that's your job is to do top ten. That's where you said the dog jumps from.
Now you're going into like cricket and like cheese rolling competitions and bed racing.
They do it every single day? Pretty much. Yeah. I mean, occasionally it would be like there's literally
no sports today. The on air talent ever like roast? Oh yeah. Not sure that's better than number five.
Is it all catered to the person that's picking its personal preference?
Like, I would just have the best hockey play be number one.
The islanders all the whole time.
Like if John Boots.
Brogd-Dak Nelson, like, tape-to-ta-tap pass in the neutral zone.
Number one.
If John Bucci-Ross is doing the top ten, you're going to give him hockey, right?
Because you know he loves hockey.
Right.
So you're going to, you're going to tailor it.
That's pretty cool.
That makes sense, right?
Yeah. Safety.
Safety is important.
A lot of sketchy actors out there, a lot of people out there.
Frankie, Jeffrey Dahmer.
You've been watching that.
Quite scary.
Yeah, it's messed up story.
You don't want that to happen.
You like to protect yourself, your family.
Where's this going?
Simply safe.
Oh, wow.
I feel like a lot of people are going to dress up as Jeffrey Dahmer for Halloween.
See, I wouldn't even say the Jeffrey Dahmer stuff for sure, but I just watched The Watcher,
which I actually think is probably one of the worst shows I've ever watched my entire life.
I turned to Emma about halfway through and I said, I'm not enjoying this at all.
It's super weird and freaky, but it definitely makes you want to get simply safe.
Like you want to make sure that there's no one.
It's a producer, I think, for those two series.
Huh?
I think the Dommer and the.
Watcher is the same producer or production guy?
You just definitely don't want people watching through your windows from your backyard and your front yard.
If they are, you want to be alerted to it.
You want to be alerted to it right when they walk onto your property.
Every time someone walks, literally, when the car pulls into my driveway, I get alerted that someone is now on my premises.
Simply Safe did that and it took me two seconds.
Trent watched me, take one down and charge it.
It literally just comes out from your hand.
You put a new charger in there and it's done.
It's like it's the easiest suctiony thing of all time.
I got the cameras too.
They just pop on and take pictures.
pictures, taking videos only when someone's present, which is incredible technology.
They're giving listeners 40% off their advanced security system.
That's how advanced they are.
They know when you're there, when you're not, they're going to protect you.

there's no safe like simply safe working at that place and coming to this place which has just been
an incredible one year for me in the sense of working with people like adrian won't tell you that
and keith won't tell you that and trotty want to tell you those guys in the golf world are like
literal genius yeah right like they are one of one extremely good at what they do and being to be able
part of this operation with our marketing team with bob majori and tyler and ryan loder
Mike Bar Beauty, like our team, those are the best at what they do.
Like the Taylor made social media landscape there, the social media handles in that brand that they've built that Mike Barbudy and Steve Brazil built in that team.
It's the best in golf.
Yeah, I got to say before I even joined here, the tailor made social media presence versus just shits on every other manufacturer.
It's not even close.
I wanted to get into that because you do kind of double as a content capture out on the road.
Yep.
And so anybody, you know, when you're seeing,
if you file a terrible made golf,
which you should,
and you're seeing all these amazing posts like Rabs talking about,
you're out there capturing a lot of those.
Wow,
you're also running around being the get shit done kind of guy.
Yeah.
How like, how, uh,
so my favorite from you is Tiger Woods during the open.
So first thing that came to my life.
The old course.
And you just,
for 18 holes were just within feet of Tiger.
You were kind of doing like the umpire squad,
almost a little bit of bunch of different ties.
That's been memed a lot in the office.
There's pictures of
they'll take like famous pictures
of like the Ali knockout and then
crop me in and behind.
With an iPhone like capture.
You were too close, right? We're going to be honest
about that. You were standing too close to Tiger Woods.
For our comfort. We walked up to you and I
looked at Trent and said he's got to get out of there.
I was told where I could be
and I went there. Obviously you weren't too close
but like it's Tiger Woods
and like it's the old course and it's
practice around and then there's Mike
Essie standing there none of that made sense
is none of it. None of it. Is there any dialogue
there? Yeah I mean there off this fucking truck by the way. I'm like I'm getting
animated and I almost went through this window.
Like we know Joey pretty well now and Tiger
obviously a little bit but what's the dialogue like
there? Obviously I had to
build a relationship with Rob
of course. The Godfather. Tiger's
security guy, Gaykeeper
who Blue knew who I was and why I was there before I even
got there.
Blue knows everything.
Yeah, because that's Tiger's guy when he goes to Europe.
So they knew why I was there and what I was doing.
And obviously, Tiger has only played in the majors since I worked at Taylor Made.
So it's not like a Rory or a Tommy or a Colin who I can go out on the course with and do stuff for their social media.
Or when Taylor Made has the access weeks, I can go out on the course with them for their social media.
And then majors have different rules on the access when we can go out when we can't.
But like, I'm just following the footsteps of the Taylor Made content.
team that goes out that has gone out to big tournaments before like ollie naglario who's our main
content guy like he invented that like that's his thing was going out with athletes so i was out with
ollie who when you're out with the person that's always out with tiger you feel much more comfortable
totally like you're supposed to be here but yeah i had the same question frankie i was looking back
of the picture and i was like how did i get here like this makes no sense with tiger in my old job
i spent a decent amount of time with him is like that guy is so used to having cameras like frank
He didn't even, he didn't even know us.
That's what I'm saying.
He's so used to having cameras like on the borderline of being too close.
Yeah.
Like that's his entire life.
This was different.
Why?
I would ask.
It's different because we know Mike.
I know.
I would ask.
Yeah, we're like, how is one of us?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Like when we walked with Tiger at the PGA, we were like, this is wrong.
Yeah.
Like everything about this and like, no one else is.
Someone's going to shoot us in any moment.
The thing I will say is like when you have this logo or these letters on your hat or on your shirt and you are with a team tailor
athlete, that signifies that you are a part of the team.
And you know that, like, if you're there, and that's what the culture that, like,
our leaders have built, that if you're there and you are a part of the brand, it is okay.
That is your teammate.
That is there.
And, like, that's what I've learned with these guys.
And what Adrian said, like, I'm sure I was annoying.
And I'm sure I was, like, asking too many questions.
But that was what I had to do to be comfortable because I'm coming from a place doing one
thing to a completely other place and all these guys have been out here for 10, 15 years. How'd you
get the job? It was just one of my friends sent me the job application. And I got the job here.
And I applied. And when Ryan interviewed me, he said he was looking for someone that had a little bit
more of like a diverse background as opposed to just doing like PR and communications and stuff like that.
And obviously I came from TV journalism background. And I could also, I did PR in college and stuff like
that so I had the ability to do it and then when I came out on the road it was just what can I do
that will allow me to like be a part of the team and it evolved into what it was did you move from
Bristol to San Diego I did yeah wow that's about as bristol have you been to Bristol no but I've
heard all of the stories about it that it's just he's a Detroit guy right yeah lions red wing
lions oh wait I got teased tigers you were on the Padres bandwagon there for a little bit
yeah I got season tickets my girlfriend Kaylee's a diehard Padre fan so I joined that
fun little ride and yeah it was a great ride yeah it was dodger game four when we were in
san diego at peco was one of the best ones oh yeah was it unreal it was unbelievable yeah it was
unbelievable you uh you got an injury celebrating that during that yeah so i had a little shoulder
tweak oh my god you and frankie both yeah so i'm dealing with a lot of men right now it's funny i know a
i know a lot of people that went to that game and then they were just like yeah i just have random
bruises like all over my legs because when you it's like an out of body experience when you have
a playoff so much adrenaline you're jumping up and you have no idea you're just banging
against.
Dude, during that Islander
around a couple of years ago,
me and my dad would wake up
the next day thinking
that we just got in a fist fight.
I legit would look at him
and he had bruises up and down his arm.
I'm like,
what did that come from?
You send me the video.
I'd be like,
what do you mean?
What do you mean where'd this come from?
I'm like headbutting him and shit.
I don't remember any of that.
Is it comical to you,
I'll get like,
oh,
I got to send these special head covers
to Tommy Fleetwood
and we've got to get this
ranch out to Roy Macrood
and then you got to get like seven box of balls
to like rigs or the barcola guys.
Look, man, conceptually, yes, it's funny.
It's in the same vein of, like, me being at St. Andrews.
I was going to say it's actually more ridiculous than you being at St. Andrews.
But here's the thing.
Like, when I came into tailor made and I got absorbed into the world of tailor made
and into, like, what the company values are and how the company operates, you learn that, like, you guys,
I said it on the range at New Orleans to another tour pro.
It's like, you guys are tailor-made athletes.
That's what you are.
So if that's what you are-
not laugh. If that's what you are, then I'm going to treat you like one.
Look, Trent in the eye and say that again. You're a tailor-made athlete. You are an athlete.
It's beautiful. In my eyes, in my eyes, you are. That's a beautiful. Yeah, you were saying that,
like, when you got those letters across your hat or on your shirt, you can kind of go up to the guys from the team.
That's how I guess we feel around Tiger. We're like, oh, we're a tailor-made guys.
That's it. We can go up to them. So we got, we still have like three or four episodes from Scotland to come out on the YouTube page.
Right. I mean, it's kind of been a little bit of a hiatus because we had all these scrambles coming out.
but that's going to be coming back pretty hard and fast.
You were on that trip with us.
It was.
Recap that trip.
That's your first time kind of traveling with us.
Was that your first big travel trip with Taylormane as well?
It was my first one overseas.
Overseas.
I mean, that was a fucking big one, man.
Yeah.
Overseas, you were bringing all the product.
You were making sure everything was done.
We're doing my Taylor Made Plus app, which is the best app of all time.
Like, there was a lot on your plate as opposed to like us.
We kind of just showed up and did our thing.
Well, we were a team.
I mean, we had a great team out there with like Mike and Lauren and Ryan and Dane and Ollie, Trotty.
Like we had a great squad of people.
And then it was just like, we were like 12.
You're in golf heaven.
You're in golf heaven in Scotland.
And we like your guys' team, talk about how hard we were.
Your guys' team works even harder.
When you're around Brendan and Jake and Avery.
Don't bring it up.
We've already admitted to many felonies.
Don't bring up this new loser Alex.
He wasn't there.
He didn't get in.
Oh, yeah.
He wasn't there.
But that was the truth of life, Tom.
I didn't play a video game.
I just wanted to be there.
He rolls his eyes every time I talk about Xbox.
I'm not pulling up.
No, Scotland was an incredible trip.
Yeah.
It feels like a whirlwind now looking back at it.
Yeah.
There are a lot of moments in life where you stand where you are and you just say, how the,
did I get here?
Because how did.
Fuck.
How the fuck did I get here?
Right?
Yeah.
How did I get here?
And that was one of them.
We're at the golf courses that we were at and we're with the people that were with.
And then he plug in St. Andrews into that mix.
and all the things we got to do.
And then you look back at all the pictures and videos
and all that stuff.
And it's just like, how did, for me,
how did I get there?
I love that you work in golf two and Taylor Made
and that you're a golf nut.
Like in Scott,
and every free second you got as he was grabbing his ball bag
and running out.
I played like the latest nine holes of all time.
And then you and Dane.
You and Dane.
It was like,
we played past 10 o'clock.
That was nuts.
My favorite memories are like you and Dane
who have a standing straight up match.
Every like course where you guys got to
jump in the mix of everybody just having a grueling match i had the biggest choke job of all time i did i had a
seven-foot put on the 14th hole to win the match on the 14th hole and we have to oh at carnoosey at carnoose
well that'll happen at carnoose day but dain was dain was unconscious on that final five-hole stretch
also that course is impossible stuff you're like it was dark but he didn't come in close
but dain i think won over or even par on the last five holes did we film that carnusty
Yeah.
Of course we did.
I don't know.
I remember that being like,
we didn't know if we were going to film that because it was late.
But do you remember the feeling of like when we were at Western Gales that morning?
We all had way too much whiskey the night before.
We were annihilated.
We teed off at like 6.45 in the morning.
We're the only ones on the golf course.
And we're just out there like shanking balls everywhere.
And we had the greatest time of our watch.
The whole night before was just called whiskey tasting.
Yeah.
We teed off at 6 a year.
Our guy, um, Brendan.
He was like,
I'm sending you all this bun of having.
And I'm like, let's go.
And he's just like it's going to take two years to get.
Dude, I thought you hijacked that stuff.
I haven't had it yet.
Because he DM me and he goes, hey, hey, mate or whatever.
I said a couple bottles and I figured I would just send him both to Frankie and he can delegate.
And I was like, well, I didn't get that.
I wait every day.
Every time I get a package, I'm like, is it the whiskey?
No.
I think it's probably with your clothes.
Maybe he's been playing both of us.
Maybe he was telling you like, hey, yeah, he gets off on like, say I'm sending you a bottle.
I think I saw a couple bottles out of Frank's house.
Yeah.
It just says rigs engraved on it.
Yeah.
I'm still waiting on that shit.
I think that's a Jack Daniels, yeah.
I don't know.
Great.
So this week's just nuts for USC as well, right?
Yeah, I have the honor and privilege to work with you guys this week.
Wow.
And that is my assignment.
I will say there was some chirping going on.
I won't publicly say who was chirping.
Oh.
But there was some chirping going on in the range the last couple weeks from the boys.
Getting ready to battle out against you guys.
I heard some whispers of that.
This is always the most fun week, obviously.
of our year, as you can see on our YouTube page,
it's our biggest videos, everything about it is just like,
this is where we get our camarader with players and stuff.
So we're so excited.
But yeah, we're definitely looking forward to some of these interactions.
We like to challenge, you know, throughout the challenges.
During these, we challenge the Taylor Made athletes.
And throughout the year and we see them on the range and stuff.
They always give us the not, not as much as like,
oh, yeah, we're all boys.
They give us the like in October or November,
I'm coming for your ass.
I mean, last year, I mean, this is on video.
Like, Kalmorekaa looked at me in the,
I says I'm coming for you like this one's personal now which is like what the hell it's why speaking of
funny parallels the and an even funnier parallel is like the content that they will be doing that we do
throughout the year with our athletes right is for revenue and for profit for commercials and all
those things and then it's like yeah let's like what's something we did last year let's uh we race let's
put let's put Trent and Frankie in a golf cart yeah and have Colin fire
balls at that. Right. Exactly. That's what we're doing while you came back from this like serious
commercial shoot. That's what we're doing. Five more yards. Go get that driving range picker and we're
going to send Stinger missiles at you. But that's the genius of Taylor Made though, I think is like with
Mike and Bob and Ryan and Matt Neuthal's when they created this partnership. It's like you hit all
ends of the spectrum. Right. You hit you hit the serious golfer. You hit the the older golfer.
you hit the not as serious golfer that just likes entertainment and likes the athletes and all those
things and and this partnership and the content that we all do together is is some of the stars i also
say that it's the best company for us to partner with not only because you guys have also like
we would always just take this partnership regardless of because it's just tailor made but you guys
are like one of the only if not the only golf company that kind of creates content the way we do like
even today and this week as we're here i don't think any other brand would be doing the things that we're
looking out at right now, I'm not going to give
away anything away, but like you guys have all these things
set up for these guys to do as opposed to
like the old crusty golf companies where it's like
look at this new driver, look at this new whatever.
You guys are like, no, no, let's put these guys
in situations like the barsoot guys kind of would.
It doesn't have the personalities behind it.
Like that's where our lane comes in.
But you put them in funny,
cool different videos. Your social team's nuts.
Like last year you had guys getting dunk tanked.
Like where's your competition doing that?
You guys understand content in a way that I think
other manufacturers don't.
Definitely.
I think we would feel like out of place at another one.
For sure.
We'd be showing up to their media days being like, all right, we're the fucking clowns.
And I think they'd kill most of our idea.
Yeah, they'd be like, where the clowns showing up trying to get Colmore Cow would
hit a ball at us 100 miles an hour and a thing.
And they'd be like, sorry.
We wouldn't feel out of place.
We would be up.
If you lined the tailor made content and marketing and like product creation teams
and the wraps up and align, you could literally say like those are the smartest people
in the industry.
And I'm not just saying that because I work here or whatever.
It's like I've worked at a lot of other.
places within sports and different sectors of sports.
And it's like, I can look at people and be like, you're, you're a genius.
Like what you just said was genius.
Right.
And when you put all that, that together with the athletes that we have and the relationships
that we have and the partnerships that we have, it creates what it is a winner.
Brand new golf video game out.
It's awesome.
PGA Tour 2K23.
This is now the second iteration of the 2K version of the PGA tour game.
it is incredible the way that they've made this game i'm telling you right now i wouldn't be just
saying this i played it the other night on friday until three o'clock in the morning i had a wedding the
next day i had to be on my buddy's house at six a m i literally got three hours of sleep because i
couldn't stop playing 2k pj ture 2k 23 is the greatest golf video game that has ever been made
right in the thick of the weddings it's real yeah i am in the thick of the weddings but it's just
realistic like i understand that like the old games you used to be able to spin the ball back towards
the hole and he'd shoot a 47 and it was all fun
this is real. If you swing too fast, you top the ball. So get better. It's like playing real golf.
It is. And it's cheaper. How expensive is real golf? Really expensive. You get to just play this in your living room.
For the first time, play as male and female pros, including Tiger Woods in online and local play. You can play as Kalamorakaa, Will's Alatoris, Steph Curry.
We're going to be available in the game very soon. You can design your own golf course. I saw we had an event at Knives Creek.
Nice Creek, Butter's Bay.
We've got a bunch of them in the
Barstall Golf Society.
And the swings are legit, by the way.
Like John Rom and Bobba Watson were in the game,
and they actually swing like them.
Like Bubba's got like the end, like the way he flicks his wrist at the end.
It's nuts.
By PJA Tour 2K23 today at PGATor.2K.com.
PGATor 2K23, more golf, more game.
We do pretty creative, entertaining shit.
And when we come here and see a lot of the things,
that you guys have prepared for these couple
content days were blown away.
Like, holy fuck, look what they
came up with. And executed.
And you guys create golf equipment. And it's like,
here they are. You got a shoot. You got a shout
out Tyler Brett, who's like, the
godfather of the photo shoot. I'm also staring
at him right now. He's right there. He's got a sick
bucket hat on. Yeah, yeah. I, Tyler, Brett.
He has the most insane
job when it comes to
scheduling commercials
and, he doesn't really do commercials,
but when it comes to scheduling the
photo shoots that we have throughout the year and stuff like that it's like it's insane and the
the ideas that we the idea meetings that we go to like think tanks if you will it's just like
someone will pitch an idea and just like how the like how did you think of that and then and then
and then how did you guys make it and then how did we execute right but it just go like danica and
set our team that kind of oversees the events like you guys can do anything like any idea
they can execute it and that's why the
any week that we have or any situation we have with our athletes when we're producing content is so good because we have such good people behind the scenes.
No, what Taylor made realizes that and what every company needs to realize is that you need like a content arm.
It doesn't matter what you do.
It doesn't matter if you make golf clubs.
It doesn't matter if you make pies.
I mean, we're in a spot where that's pretty much our.
Like that's our bread and butter is content.
So it's like that's obviously what we're going to do.
But you need if you want to be popular, if you want to move more product of whatever.
whatever it is. You have to have interesting content behind it.
The GoPro's up 3-0 on Alex today.
Yeah, the GoPro is up 3-0-0.
You've heard just a ridiculous beeping. It's our resident nerd who can't keep the
GoPro on.
You got to have content. You guys figured it out.
It's overheating. You figured it up before pretty much everybody in this space.
But a lot of companies, they do it in a very cheesy, like, stupid way.
True. You got to do it the right way.
We just have grinders, though. I think that that's what makes the operation so good,
is that similar to what we were talking about at the beginning.
Like we have our go-to-market team that brings these products to life,
like Kendall Prince and Scott Bus and Briggs' boss,
they, in Braxton Lloyd, they grind.
Braxton is just out here wielding putters, like in any direction
to get them in every commercial in every spot.
And everyone loves golf.
That's what it is.
It's because we all love golf and that's our way of being on.
You know who would love the go-to-market team in that name?
Jake Bass.
Yeah.
You've done a really good job in the podcast of shouting out a bunch of people, and I like that about you.
Well, that's really shouted out synergy.
A lot of people.
That's the only reason why we're all in this spot, though.
Like, I've been able to get to the point in my job because of other people.
Right.
Because of Ryan Lauder and Mike Barbeauty and Steve and Matt Neuthal.
You're doing it again.
Yeah, Tony Stark's my boy, Tony, what up?
Tony Stark?
His name's Tony Stark's legend.
He's a legend of it.
You guys are like an Oscar speech up here.
It's good because he's right.
It takes a whole team.
I don't know. That's, that's how I look at it. It's like, Adrian kind of said it before.
Like, he brought me into the operation and like I feel indebted to the people that help me.
Adrian's great. That's a good way to be.
I brought Adrian up here. I brought you up to Adrian expecting him to kind of do what you're doing right now for everyone else. And he was like, yeah, a little bit annoying at first.
When you guys, when you guys asked that question, that was the exact response I anticipated.
I did not. I thought it was going to be kind of a throwaway. I appreciated that.
I thought it was a throwaway transition. He's like, eh.
it's an extremely accurate depiction of the evolution of the relationship.
I mean, we still kind of think Alex is annoying, but we're still bringing in a minute.
So, wait, we have this thing with Alex.
I like Alex a lot.
No, I want to like, fuck out.
I have this, like, I have this, like, this desire to want to be sarcastically and, like, over-the-top mean to him as if we're, like, one of these asshole talents that, like, work at, like, a news company or something.
That one degenerate.
Yeah, that just, like, completely berates their, you and Hathaway.
their helpers.
When he walked in,
and I think it was Myrtle Beach or something,
where he walked in and he said something,
I said,
now you shut the fuck up.
You know what I mean?
Yeah.
And he shut up.
Right.
We put him in his place.
Dude,
it's just,
it's just a bit.
Yeah,
yeah,
we're just like,
we're just like,
yeah,
we're just like,
shut up.
Yeah,
go pick us up Taco Bell,
bitch.
You're not content.
That's gonna be funny.
When he shows up,
like,
cosplaying as an asshole.
Right.
You're not content.
You know?
When he shows up anyway,
I just call him,
When he shows up anywhere, I just call him a piece of shit.
Exactly.
And it's fun.
We introduced him to someone at Taylormate today.
Oh, Trouty.
I said, this guy's a piece of shit.
Trotty goes, all right, mate.
All right, lad, I see you there.
The first thing you learn, though, the first thing you learn in TV and, like,
Brendan can attest to this is, like, the first thing you learn when you are in a job like this is,
like, do not take anything personally.
Are there people like, do not take anything personally?
Totally.
Yeah, without naming any names, like, that just treat talent.
Like, well, I was going to ask him off camera.
I want names of people who are like,
assholes? Yeah. I know.
Because he would never do it on air or anything.
And we're not going to put you in that position.
But yeah, if you didn't want to share one name.
But we're just doing it in sarcastic. Yeah, yeah. Right, we're doing it as a bit.
It's like when we're mean to Alex push. It's not,
funny. We don't really want you to tell us.
We don't stream PGA 2K every night now or as much as we can. And Alex is like on the behind the scenes.
And we, I just know he's watching and I just like shit on him the other night.
It was like 1.30 in the morning on Friday and I was streaming by myself. I'm like, I bet that fucking loser Alex is watching right now.
And then he's like clipping stuff.
It sounds funny.
I'm like, yeah.
whatever dude but he was there he was working one of the best we got honestly you just got to
grind you got to be able to grind and one name i'm i didn't mention was Lauren who's
the scheduling and just like logistics genius of this whole operation yeah yeah you need to everyone
that can play a role who came on lord was in Scotland yeah yeah just extremely talented at what
she does and like she god bless her for having a wrangle in Scotty and in Scotland she had to try
um oh trotty trotty sorry Scotland
Trotty.
Scotty.
But Trotty will tell you, Trotty will tell you, Lauren makes her better.
Lauren makes him better.
Well, he was just like, he's not the easiest person, I feel like to, like, say we have to do this at this time.
Because Trotty just goes a million miles an hour.
And she was like, come on.
She snapped her fingers and Trotty dance.
We are in Scotland and we got to get this done.
And he's like, all right.
It's just like, it's a cool place to be a part of it.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I love Taylor, man.
Like the inner workings of it.
Obviously, all the equipment speaks for itself.
But never thought I'd, like, meet people on the inside of a golf company like this.
It's pretty cool.
Couple of years, maybe we'll get Alex some tower made stuff.
Oh, he's got a pretty good swing, man.
He played three or four years.
He played Beth Page Black this weekend.
Oh, really?
Had to go.
Yeah.
I bet you suck.
Break 100?
Yeah.
Turn his fucking mic off.
No, my buddy from Boston, his buddy's a pilot, and he actually flew down, played
Bethpage and I flew back.
What?
Where do they land?
In Farmingdale?
Wow.
Insane.
He's, yeah.
So he flew over Bethage Black, played it, and then just flew right back.
Over it.
Legitimately, the place is next door.
I drove back to, I shot like 88.
Oh, and he gave us a face that you're not good.
Whatever.
I shot.
Whatever.
What was I even saying?
I don't know.
Oh, yeah, I drove back to Hoboken and he beat me back to Boston before I got the
Hoboken.
What a life.
That's insane.
Does he have a really small plane?
Gridlock.
Yeah, but his buddy, he's not the pilot his buddy is.
He's been doing it for like 10 years and he's just a count.
What a time to play Bethpage Black?
The dust and not too hot.
Perfect.
Good weather.
Yeah, it was not.
I've played for 100,
100 something grand.
One of those little,
fuel.
I don't you have to pay when you land?
What is it?
Cessna?
Is that what those are?
You buy them for 100, 200 grand, something like that?
Which is, I mean, I'm not saying it's cheap,
but it's not like you buy a fruit.
And then he'll tell you a story about his grandfather dropped rocks out of the back.
You ever heard that one, Bush?
No.
Of course you haven't.
You're fucking idiot.
Yeah, facts.
88.
Really good.
I think it was.
The place is very difficult.
The place is very difficult.
Hard golf course.
I almost played with you.
I thought it was Sunday though.
No, not too cool.
I read the text this Sunday and it was Saturday.
It said Saturday.
Classic mix-up.
Just a classic mix-up.
Maybe if you were content, I would have considered it.
Do you know show?
No.
Oh, okay.
I was like, you tell me the day of.
No, I didn't.
You fuck.
Are we in a situation where you asked day to play, not us?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Holy shit.
Yeah.
It took me about a month.
I don't know.
Danny's nice, kind of.
Flicks me off once in a while, but he's just being sarcastic.
But it's a number.
Nice flick you off.
Oh, so you guys say flick you off?
Because I say flick you off all the time.
My girlfriend says, flip.
Who says flick?
You say flip.
I would say flip.
Flip.
I only said flick.
He said flick.
Flip him the bird.
You know, flick on the bird.
You flip him out.
I just want that on record that other people say flick.
Yeah, let's here's an example like this.
You flip on the bird.
Yeah.
Just an example.
Flick.
Do you go, do you go thumb out or no?
No, no.
I think it's meaner this way.
Really?
I kind of like the thumb out.
Thumb out has a little more gusto to it, I think.
A little more goose dog.
Go stow.
I think I think this looks meaner
yeah but it's like
I think no thumbs meaner
Eminem does thumb I do thumb
Does he? Yeah I like Eminem
It's a good role model
8 mile yeah 8 mile he's
He's doing him and Brady Murphy
RIP I mean I like his art
Artistic
Yeah
That is art yeah
There's Adrian just legitimately
Bending golf clubs down there
Can you hear him grinding stuff
Oh boy
Listen to the audio
ASMR porn
Get it out there, Frank.
Nice.
You get Bush turning up the audio.
Sounds like a faucet.
All right, we're just talking about biolite because guess what?
If you're going to have a few drinks, few cocktails, or even if you're not, you need to be hydrated.
Hydration is huge.
It changes everything about how you feel, about how you act, about the actual chemical makeup in your body because you need hydration in order to be healthy and safe and all that stuff.
Bio light does it better than anyone else.
They're part of the Barstool Classic throughout this year.
Saw people drinking it.
They liked it.
they like the flavor a lot.
And then we get all kinds of messages about how much better they felt the next day.
It's like miracle out there.
Ivy in a bottle, they call it, contains the same amount of electrolytes as an IV bag.
You'd have to drink six and a half sports drinks.
I'm in the thick of wedding season right now.
My house was the compound for everyone to stay after one of these weddings.
I had a refrigerator.
Well, it was like everyone went there.
I had a refrigerator filled of biolite the next morning.
And you should have seen the reactions of people half an hour after.
after they drink theirs. They're like, what just happened?
Completely replenish, completely
feeling like you never had a drink the night before.
I mean, everyone was like, we were playing,
we were playing games after a half an hour after.
We were dead 10 seconds before we took the first sip.
So Biolite is an amazing miracle drink.
Brings you back to life.
It really does.
Go do us a favor.
Go get Biolite.
Try it.
Do whatever you want this weekend.
Do whatever you want Friday night.
Whatever you want Saturday night.
Have that biolite ready for you in the morning.
Drink one while you're drinking and have one before you go to sleep.
Yeah, I went before I went to sleep.
Oh, and when you pop up and you have that bio it the next day, you have one the night before,
you will feel better than you have ever felt because you are hydrated.
That's just what matters.
It gives you the right stuff that you need.
Trust me, put a few bottles in your cooler.
Do it.
It's going to help.
It's only 45 calories.
It contains a third of the amount of sugar.
Biolite is now available to purchase at drinkbiolite.com.
Go to drinkbiolite.com slash barstool.
Use code 4Play for 10% off your first order.
That is drink biolite.com slash barstool.
the code one word for play for 10% off your first order.
I tied my career low.
Dialing it in.
Look at it.
But short course, I collapsed.
Fucking truck is.
Talk to us.
There you are.
Say hi to the people.
Hello.
There you go.
Can I ask you a question as though you're a PJ tour player?
Sure.
Riggs, obviously where you were after 15, you can't be happy with that finish.
Do you take more positives from the first 15 holes?
Are you coming off with a sour taste in your mouth?
I will say, I didn't feel like it was lucky.
It felt like I was playing well.
So I took it as a lot of positive momentum.
So I felt good about it.
But yeah, we played it pretty short, 6,200 yards.
Of course, I grew up across the highway, so it's not like I don't know it particularly well.
But I was playing really well.
We had like two beers, four we teed off, which I feel like I was right in that sweet spot.
If you're a bell curve believer, I was like, I reached the top, the top right away and just kind of held it the whole time.
But, but yeah, I was two under with four to play, and I had a 15-footer for birdie.
And I three-putted and then went bogey, bogey, par to shoot.
1 over 72.
So I played really well.
So I'm happy I had to shot myself out.
Wow.
Nicely done.
What's your ideal?
What was that?
Did that knock the handicap down?
My hand.
It's tough because you can shoot like a 90 and it doesn't move your handicap up and you have one
round like that and I'll be a three now for like six months.
Right.
It stays in for Torres first.
Yeah.
So it's hard.
So it moved it slightly but not a tough.
Yeah.
I had my clubs accidentally stolen this weekend.
Yeah.
What happened with you?
I was trying to figure it out because you even fly anywhere and you're like I lost my club.
Yeah.
So I was playing.
I thought you just left him somewhere.
No.
So I was playing in a.
I lose everything.
I was playing in a member member tournament.
It was a Friday, Saturday, and I played the golf course on Thursday.
I kind of wanted to get a look at it.
Hadn't played there in a while.
And so I told the guys, I was like, oh, my bag stays.
I have bag storage at the club.
And I was like, oh, my bag stays because I'm playing in the member, member tournament tomorrow.
No problem.
Come back the next morning and I see our cart and it only has my partner's club.
So I, what's going on?
They look in the bag room.
It's not there.
We look in every other person's card.
It's not there.
Apparently there was an outing right before.
I played on Thursday and they bust
people to and from the golf course.
So I guess the bus driver at the end of the day
just basically like gobbled up all the clubs
threw them in the trunk.
Yeah.
So they located the clubs.
They were on a boat in Long Island somewhere.
Really?
Yeah.
And what?
What kind of boat?
I don't know.
I didn't get many details.
I was frazzled.
And the guy who organized the outing
put them in an Uber and they got to the golf course
like an hour and a half later.
Wow.
Incredible.
So it was a good, really, really good job
finding it. What's a good recovery ever? Great recovery. And I actually played well with the
clubs that weren't mine. Um, so it was good. We finished second in our group, which is first
loser because only the first group gets to the shootout, but a great weekend of golf. Awesome.
You play it all? I did not. I made my triumphant return to the Turkish bathhouse this weekend.
Did you? Come on, man. How was it? This is number two?
Number two, I hadn't gone in a year. I went once again with Tommy smokes and Nick Tarani.
Okay.
It is. Is that the picture you guys took the picture in front of people with
AIDS Plaza. That was. That was right before we went
to the Turkish bathhouse. And it really
is one of the better
experiences you can have. Especially
it's like a fun thing to do in New York City.
You and I should go sometime, Danny. Frankie, you should
come to. I think you might have got the invite this time, but you
didn't get the invite. Tommy said he might
ask you. What about Alex Bush? Oh, in person he asked.
Alex Bush can come.
Brendan Jones can come. Mike asked anybody
can come and it's like a whole
different world. What happened? Is that the Turkish bathhouse?
So what you do is you go to this place,
you walk down the stairs.
And it's not weird.
But you just go down these stairs.
You give them your wallet.
You go downstairs.
You bring some swim trunks and flip flops.
That's all you bring.
I watched a lot of Jeffrey Dahmer.
I know that this is a weird place.
So you put on your swim trunks, you strip down your swim trunks, your flip flops.
And then there's these five different rooms down there.
There's the sauna, which is a regular sauna.
There's the Schitz room, which is a Yiddish word.
It's another really hot sauna, but there's also buckets in there.
It means like sweating.
put cold water in the buckets and when you get really hot,
you pour the bucket of water over your head.
That's another room.
Another room is a really hot sauna.
The hottest sauna there gets up to 190.
You're dying in there.
How long can you last in there?
Rory Balls beat.
How long did you last in there?
There were guys doing like no longer than 10 minutes.
Oh, that's pretty long.
Pretty good.
Pretty good.
Pretty good for all things that we're talking about.
Pretty good.
And then there's a cold.
Pretty good to last 10 minutes in the Schwitz.
There's a cold room.
That's not the Schvitz.
There's a cold room, which is just...
This one's hotter than the Schitz, right?
The one you're talking about.
The one, that's the hot as it gets, it's 190.
Jesus.
And it could go higher.
But then there's a cold room, which is just like a very cold room.
There's ice on the walls.
And then there's a cold plunge, which is a hot tub, but it's a cold tub.
And it's super, super cold.
You go in the really hot sauna and then you jump into the cold plunge.
Dude, it's so much fun.
There's a full bar down there.
You can get food down there.
There's a full bar?
Yes.
How much money does it cost to go to this?
Cost 50 bucks to go.
Is the food sweating?
Come on.
A whole room.
sweaty. I've never gotten it, but Nick says the
soup is pretty good. Wait, I'm picturing this is like a
wellness retreat. There's an alcoholic
beverages there? Yes, you can get a beer. So it's not like a
wellness retreat. It's like a... It is. It feels a little bit like
But cucumbers on the ice? It's like
It feels a little bit like a boy's club, but it is, it is
men and women. So everybody's in there.
Wow. Dude, it's amazing. Are nipples exposed
in this place? For the men, yeah. Wow.
Yeah, you go, yeah, I could
top your top. I popped your top. I pop the top every time. Yes,
yes, of course.
Dude, it is, it really is a great experience.
Where is one in the city?
I'll tell you off, Mike.
Yeah, it's, no free.
You're trying to protect it.
No, it's not even free.
Is it a private society type of situation?
I just don't want everybody to know about.
There's definitely a lot of people to go there, but and if you've been, you know where it is because I've been talking about it.
But I'll take you there, dude.
It's fun.
Awesome.
I can't wait.
We'll just go and there's a pool upstairs.
We'll stretch in there too.
We'll stretch.
You can do whatever we want in there.
You're going to stretch so much.
When you're that warm in the sauna, you can, you'll be able to put your hands on the floor.
I got something to say about Danny stretching.
So today I walked into the airport, got a little water, and I go to the gate,
and I see someone just sprawled out on the floor in the middle of the airport.
And I'm like, who's that lunatic?
Like, legit, thinking to myself, who would ever be laying on the floor at that fucking airport like that?
And it was Danny Rappaport.
And I was like, I was, I was got to tweet out a video of it.
And then I remembered that I want to complain about my back this week.
So.
This is how I avoid the back injury.
realized that had I been like, look at this guy stretching at the airport, everyone would be like, well, that's probably why you have like pinched nerves in your shoulder. You don't really stretch. You don't really stretch. You don't really fucked myself with that. But you guys was a funny idea. I'm like, look at this guy. He's literally, you were like, you were sprawled out. Yeah, I had to do the, uh, 90, 90, 90 stretch, which requires me to get fully horizontal. He was horizontal. Like, and there was a packed airport, the old thing. Like, you know, it was great. Was it like a scene where people look at it? He was just like in the middle of the airport just doing it. Yeah. Like there's any place. And there was any place. It was like, like, it was any place. It was. It was like, like, it was any place. It was. It was any place. It was. It was. It was. It
so you can just do like weird stuff and nobody cares
no one's gonna say something to you especially in new york city
the thing i found odd was he did it on the
on the on like the walkway side of the set
of the of the of the seats like it was like in the middle of the airport
it wasn't like by the windows
it was like if you're waiting online for group number two he's like
in front of you on the floor somebody doesn't have the midwest say like
call the police
if that happened to sit up before they shut it down
I'm like what I literally said to myself
whoa like who's this person
I like walked around him I'm like
it's then
if I don't stretch
before a plane ride especially, you really got to get loose before.
But I couldn't do anything because I don't know if I've legitimately stretched in 15 years.
Dog, that is bad. I want to get on. I wish I could stretch right now. I know. I'm not flexible.
Show this thing going on my shoulder. Everything. I need to be more relaxed. How long does your
morning stretch routine take? Um, about 12 minutes. Dude, we need to get in on that. Yeah. We have
I went to a chiropractor the other day and he had me sit on my hand and stretch my neck because it like
and jerk off shoulder in place.
There's a lot of things you've got to learn.
We'll talk about this later.
Yeah.
Keeping your shoulders down so you don't get the,
what happened?
I said sit on your hand and then jerk off.
A stranger.
A stranger.
Is that what it's called?
Oh,
because you got no feeling in your hand.
Wow.
Is that a thing?
Are you just talking about it?
Are you just talking about it?
I didn't know what a stranger?
I never heard that.
I thought the other hand would be that.
That's the funniest thing I've ever heard.
Is it not left in?
Is it not going left in?
So you sit on your hand and goes numb, you jerk up.
They talk about it in that.
Tell me, baby.
There you go, that is unreal.
That is unbelievable.
They talk about it in a gone in 60 seconds.
That's where I learned.
That's right.
The stranger.
A couple boys talking.
Oh, that's amazing.
I got breaking news.
Okay.
I got an iPad.
Oh, yes.
You guys.
Is that the picture that you accidentally sent in the group chat?
Oh, that was a joke.
I was like, I won't have to show you guys.
Oh, okay.
You did get the iPad.
Stranger times I pad.
Did you be it on the new world?
You've been...
I've found that I'm just flipping through apps.
Like, I'm doing nonsense on it.
It was Sunday watching football.
I had a couple buddies over.
I had ES,
I had the game cast on there
watching all these different types of sports.
I had my Barstall sports book app
up going on.
I had all these things going on.
Why update your fancy line up on your phone
when you just do it on your iPad?
Oh, it was incredible.
And then I found myself just like hitting
the settings a lot
and just like going through different things.
Totally.
I was reading news articles
because it was just more accessible.
I was like I got a Washington post a subscription because of my iPad.
I had my legs crossed and it was on it.
It's like election season.
I was throwing on my phone.
I couldn't read shit.
And then I was like, wait a second.
Then they convinced me to buy it.
So I downloaded the app.
I literally read news articles on and out.
That's a great purchase.
You'll eventually just put your, when you get home, you'll just put your phone away.
Well, 100%.
And then what I, so I got a new, I got the new phone, which is awesome, by the way.
Wait until you see these.
Me too.
It's nuts.
It's crazy.
And then the guy's like, oh, by the way, do you want to just work?
in an iPad to your to your bill for another nine dollars a month I was like let's just do that
you know what I mean he's so then he just walked out so I was just an iPad air and I just
I went home with one awesome it was fucking awesome awesome this is an iPad podcast now four for four
yeah I've won't the one for a long bus you have one fucking loser piece of shit
you don't have an iPad Mike I do not have an iPhone pretty cool especially you guy
travels as much as you yeah you download a couple episodes for the flights it's like
you don't really it's a travel
It's really the travel.
I watched the last two episodes, not the finale.
We can talk about the finale, by the way, of House of Dragon on next week's show.
Yeah.
Yes.
I watched two, I watched episode seven and eight on my phone just because we were in hotels
and I couldn't get anything going.
And I was done with that.
I'll never make that mistake again.
It was good.
It was fine.
The phone was good.
I had AirPods in, but if you could just get bigger, why not?
Yeah.
Right.
That's what she's a, you know?
Should we all just, should we all move to San Diego, you think?
Yeah, San Diego is an incredible.
Do you live in San Diego or do you live downtown San Diego?
Nice.
Let's go.
I can drive there.
Let's go.
It changes the way you, like, feel about life from the perspective of, you just love being there.
Bro, I'm from L.A.
I'm about to move back.
You'd be right up to 405 from you.
We'll be hanging out all the time.
Yep.
Are you moving back next year?
Yeah.
Like, you never get sick of like the, unless Barstall.
Unless Barstall.
No, you're like Detroit guy.
You're like, you're like steel and coal and cold and fucking fog hitting your face and shit.
Then you got the San Diego.
I do miss the adversity of the Midwest.
From the standpoint of like, today sucks.
It's five degrees outside.
It snowed for six days straight.
True.
It does.
Two conversations.
People are going to be confused on this podcast.
Well, this is the first year that I'm, the last couple of winners.
The last couple of winters we've gone to my parents' house in LA because my fiance's
been work from home.
But now she has to be in the office.
This is my first like winter in New York.
And I'm really depressed.
Like the golf is.
It adds character.
No, it doesn't.
But it's just like.
You just not play golf like for a month at a time?
There's something about growing up.
like you got to run into the restaurant to get warm and everyone's like out of breath and it's just
like the heat's cranking it's like it's definitely not better there's something to it i think something
that i think you need 10 Midwest or east coast winters in your life and then you makes you like a
different person yeah but don't you think so by age 10 you're wearing and summer's better with
a colder winter yeah it's like yeah it's like uh yeah sunshine's better with like rain but like
appreciate it so much more i think if every day's the same sure that's paradise and i'm not
saying it's bad i'll never get me to say the san diego weather is bad
I think it's the best place on earth.
I'm just saying that coming from a place like Detroit,
I thought maybe you'd miss that grind.
I think I've been through enough winners that I know what they are.
I know exactly what they are.
I think I could move to San Diego tomorrow.
I'd miss Christmas in New York, man.
You would love San Diego.
I couldn't do a Palm Tree.
You would thrive.
I can't do a Palm Tree Christmas.
You did your first one.
You'd never want to do another one.
I can't do it, bro.
Wake up.
It's like 56 and sunny.
It gets up to about 72 in sunny.
Oh, oh.
You get out there.
It's so nice.
Because my fucking tits went.
Absolutely delightful.
No.
Perfect every day.
I need the cool air.
I bet 23 and Wendy's great.
It is.
Fair night.
It's real.
The other places are utopian.
Fair night?
Yeah, it's great.
I got to get back to my real job.
All right,
Mike.
You guys continue.
I think we're done with the tall shit today.
What do we even talk about?
I got to get ice hot on this.
Talk about Roar for like an hour.
We did.
But not really about the weekend.
More just about his process.
But I think that's a lot of time.
Two is great.
He's number one in the world.
I love that shit.
I think for the last three weeks,
you only have talked about is House of Dragon and, like,
humanity.
In space.
I already tweeted this so it's not really like a promo,
but we have to go pick up goalie equipment.
Wednesday?
That's something that's happening.
Thursday?
Thursday?
Us against the Stanley Cup champions?
Oh, I can't wait.
Holy shit, that's coming up this week.
Thursday.
At an shocking golf course, sanctuary.
Shocking golf course.
I mean, Gabriel Landis.
Thanks, Mike.
Out for, like, the next eight weeks, by the way,
in real life, like real hockey.
But you'll be able to see him when he was healthy.
Yeah.
And I will say, he did not get hurt during this.
No, five weeks.
I think it's been like four or five weeks since.
He started the season.
I still don't really understand that golf course.
It was a wild place.
It was a wild place.
It was a wild place.
If you're a fan of the NHL, the fact that we have a video coming out with Kail McCar playing golf for the next, for like, was it probably a two-hour video?
That's crazy that we have that much footage of the Stanley Cup champions, like conversing the year they won the Stanley Cup.
Like, that's, they're on the golf course.
We have all the cart footage.
It's insane.
It's like we'll look back on this in 30 years.
Like you look back on the Islander stuff.
Exactly.
They won it.
This is the year.
Islanders suck right now.
I don't want to talk about it.
What's the record?
Oof, two and four.
It's not good.
It's fucking goal.
It lets in everything.
It's not good.
It's not good.
But they're like playing well.
They just can't.
It's not too.
It's frustrating.
Blues are only under 15 minutes.
Rangers got absolutely dismantled at the yard in the other night.
All right.
We can end this thing.
Well, I mean, everyone they've played.
Everyone's like,
please.
Three O and O.
like eat one at home the other night.
All right, we'll be back on Thursday.
We got everybody's favorite segment,
which is where we talk about House of the Dragon
for about 40 minutes
and only probably 10% of people watch it.
But we'll put that at the end.
We'll be back on Thursday.
Thank you for listening.
Love you, Taylor, made.
Hit it hard.
Hit it hard.
