Fore Play - "Golf is Officially Back." - Two Weeks of Tiger
Episode Date: March 20, 2018Riggs, Trent and Frankie definitively declare that golf is back following an incredible week at the Arnold Palmer Invitational. Massive crowds. Crazy drama. Huge fist pumps. Low valleys of emotion, hi...gh peaks, and everything in between. The boys breakdown several questions from the week: How confident are we about Tiger? Was Rory's call to limit alcohol sales soft? Do we love or hate Patrick Reed citing Jordan Spieth when bitching at a rules official about free relief? Do we love or hate Johnny Miller? It's a big week. It's a big show. Two weeks until Masters week. Golf is back! You can find every episode of this show on Apple Podcasts, Spotify or YouTube. I would look at pastoral all the time and look at, you know, there's stuff that they post.
Some of it's like absolutely stupid, but some of it's actually quite amusing and funny.
Stuff like that is what we need to get people to or attract people to the game of golf.
Nice to be here, boys. Congratulations on all that you're doing as mediocre as it is.
newer, younger, hipper platforms like Barstool Sport.
Tigers had three back surgeries.
He's had one fusion.
We welcome in from Barstool Sports.
Riggs and Trent.
Guys, welcome to the show.
Foreplay presented by Barstool Sports.
It's the golf boys.
It's myself.
I've got Trent Daddy.
I've got Frankie Borelli, the pizza maker.
What's up, boys?
Feeling good.
I'm feeling good.
We have new setup here in the podcast room.
We've got new mic stands.
I like it.
The other ones were like, I feel like they weren't as stable as these other ones.
The other one sucked.
Yeah.
This is like, there is vision going on.
Like, there's no more wires being in between us.
I used to have to, like, dip and dive to see Frank when he was talking.
And then Trent.
I got good at looking through, like, metal to just see rigs and then make eye contact with me.
It's also a crazy, it's a crazy weird thing when you're not making guy contact with somebody for a while.
And then you do?
It's like, oh, yeah.
It's like, wait, did I just say something wrong?
It's like, no, I'm just looking at you like a human being.
Totally weird.
We got a ton to talk about.
It's two weeks until Masters week, this time next Monday.
We'll be watching guys.
the course. We'll be a golf channel be doing live from. It's a very exciting time to be a live.
Golf, I mean, golf is back. It's more back than it's ever been. We started doing this podcast
a little over a year ago. We thought things were exciting then when like Sergio Garcia and
Justin Rose and Speed were going at it. Now we've got Tiger, Rory, going crazy. It is awesome.
Listen to this. There have been 11 tournaments on the PJ Tour calendar this year, and here's the list
to winners.
Right here.
Okay.
Hit me.
Dustin Johnson,
John Rom,
Jason Day,
Bubba Watson,
Justin Thomas,
Phil Mickelson,
Paul Casey,
Roy, McElroy.
That's a fucking list
right there.
It's so good.
On top of all that,
we've now had
three Sundays in a row
that Tiger has played
an event that he's been
in the mix on Sunday,
especially the last two,
back-to-back weeks
at the Val Spar and,
of course,
at Bay Hill.
Yesterday, I mean,
there's so many things
to talk about with Tiger.
I wrote a lot of different things
down.
One of my favorites
that I want to talk
about right off the top with some of the language tiger always uses tiger language every week whether
it's trudge whether it's fucking this that uh firing of the glutes firing the glutes he always
denominations denominations was his big one when he came back i've been playing against the guys up
for denominations that was his big line down in now the bahamas at the hero world challenge he had a
great line after his round on thursday because he played early thursday morning they're talking to him
about you know what was the round like how to feel like that out there and he's like you know it was
it was actually really chilly at first he's like then it
warmed up. The ball wasn't going to where in the morning, and then the ball got some jets.
Oh, my God. If you don't think I'm using that term for the rest of my life, you're crazy.
He said it like two or three times during the interview. I was dying laughing. The ball had
jets. It got jets in the middle of the round. It's to the point when he says things like this that I feel
like he texts his buddies and he's like, I'm going to say jets today. What do you guys want
for me? You want jets? I'll say glutes. I'll say denominations. What do you want from me in the
post-round interview? He's got such good terms that, like, you know he does it to like prove that
his brain is on another golf level than everybody else's brain.
Like the ball's got jets, dude.
Like, yeah, I've heard, like, you've heard get legs and all that type of stuff.
Maybe you've heard get jets or something like that.
But even the point of, like, him saying the ball acquired jets.
Well, it's what Frankie's saying.
It's almost a power play because now Frankie's going to start using jets.
Tiger knows the things that he says is going to be into the golf world.
And that just shows how powerful he is.
We tried to describe the way he was hitting his golf ball just two weeks ago.
We were like, we don't even understand the way, like, how hard he's hitting this ball, his back swing.
It's got jets, Frankie.
I tried to find the word, and I never, in a million years, thought of the word jets.
It was right there for me.
Golf ball has these tiny little jet engines in the back of it, Frank.
That is just propelling it.
He takes that low iron and he got to hit that stinger.
That is the perfect difference.
Like, I can almost hear a jet airplane coming off of his club.
The fact that he has that club working now, it makes him, he's able to compete and play in every golf tournament now.
Like over in Europe, when he plays in the open.
Oh, my God.
When they play at Cardoosti.
give him the fucking trophy right there on the spot when he shows up because if he's hitting
that stinger and a European golf course that it's over that claret jug if that place is playing
firm and fast and he can just rip that student dude they had to they're calling it uh the pro
tracer they're calling it the top tracer trying to get the terminology correct whatever sponsorship
or call it the top tracer that's fine when they had the blue one again all week ice cold it is
just the fact that we talked about that again when i saw it it legit makes me shiver when i'm not
kidding, I was sweating watching the tournament, and when the blue tracer came on, I felt refreshed.
It's a sense of refreshment. I almost feel like I jumped to a pool.
I feel like I'm chewing a piece of winter fresh gum when I see it.
Like my whole body, just like I like, you almost feel a fusion.
You almost feel a fusion.
Totally. It's like a rope of fusion. It's like it's everything's connected, his back, the rope that his ball goes on, the top tracer sign, the fact that it's blue.
It makes me think of the, like, a Coors Light commercial when they hit, like, the train comes through and everything freezes over.
That's what I think of when the blue line comes down.
Or when your cores lights like really cold and the mountains turn blue.
Exactly.
It's the same color blue.
It's the cores light really cold mountain blue that is the top tracer.
Oh, man, he just looks so good.
But the fact that he can hit that stinger now, like that brings a sense of like it doesn't make his game so crazy.
Like when he brings out the driver, it could go fucking anywhere.
Anywhere.
And the stinger, it's so consistent that it works.
So the driver, I'm really, I'm curious about the driver because this was this week.
I was more honed in than any other.
I watched every single shot.
I didn't leave my apartment from Friday night around 7 o'clock when I got home from work until this morning.
I didn't leave my apartment once.
Same.
I just sat in my apartment.
I watched every second of golf.
I watched every second of golf over again at night when they put Tigers coverage on.
That's the only thing I did.
I just sat there hanging out on Twitter watching golf, golf, golf, golf, relax.
A bunch of laundry, beautiful weekend for me.
And he, I honestly, I didn't think.
he keeps freaking out that his driver's like horrific,
there were several par fives where he ripped great drives.
It used to be like, he used to miss, it feels like, like,
60 or 70% of fareways with his driver.
And I'm not talking miss.
I mean, like, he's out of the golf hole.
He had a couple of those.
He had the 1-O-B on 16 yesterday, which we'll talk about.
He had one in, like, the first or second round where he hit one.
I think it's on the par-five, like, third, no, par-five fourth hole where he hit one,
like, right of the right creek.
Was the, on the back nine yesterday,
he hit it towards the
like the lunch area
was that driver
I can't remember now
he had to take a drop from it
yes that was on the ninth hole
but even there
even there that is
like that's a that's a dog like left
that he chooses to hit a cut off of
and tries to peel it out there
which doesn't give him like
even when he was hitting a good drive
on that hole which he did a couple times
over the course of the week it would dribble
into like the right first cut
right so he really I don't know
that shot shape was probably not
he almost he blasted it over the trees and was fine
I mean he landed his approach shop right next
oh yeah no it was fine
Yeah, it was very fine.
So it was almost like, yeah, he wasn't looking to do that, but I also, I didn't hate that because that's like a good bailout.
And he said it in one of his interviews Saturday where he was like, I'm missing in all of the perfect places.
Like when I miss, it's fine where I miss it.
So I didn't think his driver was as bad as a lot.
Like if he misses sometimes, but then like a decent amount of times, especially when he steps up in par fives, is able to just rip driver, he's fine.
With that two iron, he can keep it in play.
I'm trying to think about Augustine now.
But he had one shot that I loved yesterday on the sixth hole, which is the huge.
boomerang par five where john dilly made an 18 that one time trying to drive the green
tiger stepped up there and the other days you saw him kind of bail out and hit this little like weak
well not week weak for him like cut into the bunker and not be able to go for it he just ripped
like a dead straight ball maybe with a tight draw up over a super aggressive line hit it out there
like a yard short of the longest drive of the day hit a six iron into the green and had like
12 feet for eagle that was like if he can if he can hit that drive on command with the water on the left
where you cannot go too far left.
He's going to be able to play Augusta aggressively
because you got to hit a lot of draws off the T's there.
So all of that was awesome.
I mean, just even, dude, just the fact that, like,
we're not even talking about if he's healthy or not anymore,
we're just talking about, like,
how he should be winning golf tournaments at this point.
It's crazy.
This was his fifth tournament.
I mean, he overshadowed March Madness yesterday.
Like, that doesn't happen.
We've tigers not involved.
He just brings, he puts asses in the seats.
There was a buzz we were talking about earlier today.
It's just, it's something.
And like you just, you can't even really describe it.
But all the eyeballs go to him.
And it's not even like he's not playing okay.
He's playing really, really well.
He's in contention up until the OB yesterday.
It looked like he might put up a really good number that people would have to match.
Obviously, Rory went unconscious for the last couple of holes.
But there was a, there was definitely a stretch yesterday where it looked like it was happening.
When Tiger was on that 11th hole and that ball rimmed around the hole.
Oh.
That was such a moment from me where I jumped up because I was watching it.
Actually, I did a really cool thing for the first time.
Me and my buddies, so Saturday we went out for St. Patrick's Day, and we got a spot at the bar real early.
It was actually, like, a real, like, what the fuck are we doing with our lives?
We got to the bar at, like, 11.30 in the morning, and there was no one in there.
We thought, like, people just start early on St. Patrick's Day.
Yeah, I'm actually surprised.
I thought when you said real early, I thought you were going to say, like, 830.
No, we were the only people in there, so we're like, oh, that's actually fucking awesome because we'll just put the TV on.
We'll get Tiger up there.
And Tiger was, like, just teeing off.
It was, like, fucking great, right?
Yep.
So we get Tiger on and Saturday was great.
I mean, drinking and watching Tigers is one of the best things in the world to do.
It's the most fun I have every single weekend now, and I look forward to it every single fucking week.
Because I'm about to sit down, drink beers and watch Tiger Woods, no matter where I am.
He's on a TV and people are rooting for him.
It's the best feeling ever.
Dude, it's almost, I started to realize this.
It's so transcendent in that, like, it's watching Tiger play is, it's like playing a round of golf yourself.
You take it as seriously as every round of golf you play yourself.
Like when you make, when you lag a put like six feet past the hole and then make the comebacker
and you feel that momentum walking to the next tee, like you feel that for Tiger.
Absolutely.
Even 10 minutes later when you're in the fair way in the next hole, you're like, man, that was huge.
We made that punt back there.
You're thinking in your brain like that would have sucked if we missed.
You're like getting yourself ready for the next hole.
When tigers rounds are over, I'm exhausted.
I'm like, oh, man, we grinded through that.
Yesterday was literally the most, like one of the more stressful days in my life.
Like you feel everything.
Like when he's grinding, you're like, all right, we're grinding.
We got to just make this par put and go to the next one.
Like it's going to be fine.
After his Friday, 72, I think is when he shot Even Part 72 on Friday.
I legit just like, I just released in my chair and was like, oh my God, I'm exhausted.
Like we posted even, that was a great round by us.
How do we do that?
It was just, it's so exhausting watching him play.
That lip in, like you said, yesterday when he lit that putt in, it was like, all right, because here we go.
He's, so another thing I want to break down a little bit is Tiger all week.
I thought he played this really.
really interesting super conservative style of golf.
He was, yes, he was hitting those irons all the time, which he's going to do that anyways.
He did that Sunday in a lot of the holes anyways, except for like a couple different places.
But even the lines, he was taking off some of the T's, like the line on six, that crazy
par five that we already talked about, the line that he took on Sunday was clearly so much
more aggressive than the line that he took the other days.
Also on Sunday, he started actually like fire at pins.
He on eight, like eight is a very difficult hole.
The T shots really tough.
the approach over the water and all that.
He pretty much, he was doing this thing where it was almost like he's not sure what he can
get away with yet.
Like he's not sure how aggressive he can really get yet, which was actually, in my opinion,
especially like, especially Friday and Saturday, was really frustrating to watch because
his short game is so good that, dude, he can go at pins.
Yep.
Like even he short-sighted himself a couple times.
I'm thinking on the part four fifth hole, which is the one that he ended up hitting three
wood on Sunday.
but he laid up on Saturday and then hit like he double crossed a wedge over the green into a bunker.
And they're like, he's got nothing here and he hit it to like six inches.
So I just keep thinking like, dude, fire at pins.
Your short game is so good you can get up a doubt from anywhere.
He's definitely feeling it out because if you remember last Sunday at Valspar, he just,
you just didn't feel like you ever got it going.
All his iron shots weren't, he couldn't get it within 10 feet.
And then Friday and Saturday was the same way this week where he was making every single put.
He was like 50 for 50 inside of nine feet.
That was insane.
Crazy.
When they kept putting that graphic up,
I wanted to murder somebody.
Crazy.
They put it up.
What are you doing?
Stop putting that up there.
But then it seemed like Sunday he finally flipped it around and was like,
all right, I'm getting more comfortable with this comeback, where I'm at in my game,
that I can start firing it pins.
And if he starts getting comfortable there, really look the fuck out.
Totally.
And it was really cool yesterday to see, especially during the first, you know, 15 holes,
until the shot on 16, really.
It was like he was finally deciding to test the waters on how aggressive he can play.
And it was working.
He was 500 for the day.
When he birdied, let's see, he birdied 10, which again, on 10, he still plays super conservative off the T.
He had like 185 in on 10 where a lot of other guys were hitting driver and then hitting, like, wedge in.
But on 10, even, he makes birdie.
He hits like an 8 iron or something from 185 tight right at the pin, makes birdie.
12 par 5, he gets up and now for Bunker makes birdie.
And then 13 again, he fired a good shot right at a pin, made birdie.
It just, to me, it was like, it was very fun to watch him almost, again, it was almost,
almost like he was testing and experimenting for the first time.
We're watching it happen in real time.
Right.
Of him being like, I'm not sure how my body's going to react if I get out there and start
playing super aggressive.
Even on the fifth hole where he had been pulling two iron all week, laying back to a wedge,
he pulled three wood because it was down in and tried to like rip a draw in there and just
left it right.
That was the hole where he hit the sprinkler head, which fuck that sprinkler head.
Like you were saying, I think you tweeted it should be taken out back and just fucking
like murdered.
Dude, that ball was dribbling perfectly.
It was an unbelievable shot he hit from there.
That sprinkler head, I was like, I was like,
I was yelling at the sprinkler head.
I mean, he's working at his shots.
He's trying out things like you're saying,
and he's going to come across bounces like that.
And it was a Saturday where you hit the car path?
That was Friday.
No, I'm sorry, that was Thursday.
That was Thursday.
Because think about Thursday, he shot that 4 under 68.
It could have easily been six or seven under.
Yeah, he was like, it was funny, too, because his ball was in the air.
That was on the third T.
His ball's in the air.
And he's like, don't hit the car bat.
Huge bounce off the car bat.
So you're going to come across, like, bumps and bruises like that.
but to watch him just go on that tear where he went from, what was he, four back to one back of the leader,
going to a stretch where he had a par five coming up.
It's just like this guy is going to be able to compete no matter where he is now because he went up,
that was a tough string of holes that he made moves on.
Totally.
And those are not easy.
No one else was making moves on those holes except for Rory who went fucking bananas.
And like, you know, yeah, he went crazy.
We'll get to Rory.
But you're right.
Even like under pressure on those types of holes where Tiger Woods is not famous for being accurate off the D.
have to be accurate out and tea on those holes.
He's pulling these two irons and ripping him like 250,
260, 270, right down the middle with water left, bunkers, right?
It was like, if this guy's going to be able to do this,
his fifth tournament back.
Like, that's what, like, idiots like Dave don't understand.
It's like, dude, he's not supposed to be this good this early.
He's only 42.
If he's this good this early, if he's hitting the ball as far as he's hitting his
swing speed is as fast as it is, like, and he can stay healthy.
What are the next five or six years going to be like?
This is like we said last week with Big Cat,
this is what Tiger, a prime tiger would have done if he took like two years off of golf.
Right.
He would have just been playing like this.
Like he is not playing any different than he would have been at this age at the top of his game.
Correct.
And just because he's not winning to him, it's like, sorry that fucking Rory McElroy went off for eight birdies in a row.
And sorry that Hemrick Stenson went out to a lead that was like minus 14 while Tiger.
It's like guys are going to play well.
He's still ironing out some things, but he's always going to be a contention.
That's all we need to worry about.
He's always going to be in contention.
All right, we're going to take this quick break to tell you about our friends at four hymns, Riggs.
Let's talk about a problem that nobody wants to talk about.
Sexual performance issues.
Nobody wants to talk about that, but, I mean, it could happen to anybody.
It can happen to anybody, and listen to this.
Over 25% of new erectile dysfunction cases are guys under 40.
I bet you wouldn't have thought that.
No.
Wow, you would think they'd be older than that.
Well, 40% of men by the age of 40 struggle from not being able to get it up and maintain an erection.
Even the world's greatest actor can't fake one.
Leonardo DiCaprio, Daniel Day-Lewis, who's another actor?
I would bet a lot of the greatest sex havers of all time have had issues with this.
I guarantee it.
Well, our friends at Foremns have a solution.

he made a couple comments after the round yesterday saying that you know now he's going to start
tweaking some things for augusta he's got to get over there early and check it out he said he
wants to test his yardage books against like just that image in my brain of tiger like
roll into augusta a couple weeks early he's out there testing shots to
testing the greens.
Like, that just, it legitimately gives me chills thinking about that.
Like, waking up, us waking up Thursday and being like, we get today, we get to watch Tiger Woods play around in the Masters.
It's like, I can't even imagine.
It's been so long.
We're going to have to find a new word for buzz.
Yeah.
We're going to need to come up with a new word for buzz because it's going to elapse whatever buzz is.
Dude, that place is going to maybe like, all the trees are just going to crumble down once he walks into that first team.
I noticed this when I was at the Honda Classic, too.
the leaders like when tiger now because it's been like three tournaments in a row where he's been
not in the final group but near it the leaders there's nobody following the leaders and there
are legit tens of thousands of people following tiger it's chaos i mean it's the craziest thing
in the world there we had a bunch of people email on us for a four play account being like i'm out
here we're following tiger and it is legitimate they're like it's like fucking like jfk was
walking by or something it's like people are losing their minds like yeah
Tiger Woods.
He floats by.
Oh, he does.
He floats by like he's being held above on one of like those magic fucking carpet
things.
Yeah, I've been there before where I'm looking over a sea of like seven people deep and
you just see his shoulders don't move.
He just floats across like one solid line.
His head just stays for where he's just moving.
It's like, where's his legs going?
It's like, no, dude, he's just floating.
Someone turns around.
It's like, no, man, it's tiger.
He's just floating.
It's crazy.
2018 and we're here.
We're here talking about Tiger.
It's crazy.
I had a very enjoy.
I was going to say it before.
I had a very enjoyable viewing experience this Sunday.
I was on PlayStation.
I've never done this before.
Me and my boys all went on PlayStation and playing
Fortnite in the morning.
Yeah.
And all of a sudden we just stayed on and just kept our headsets on and watched Tiger on our TV.
And like so basically we're together, but we're in the comfort of our own homes.
And we're all like wireless headsets.
So I'm walking around and pacing.
No way.
With all my boys.
That's interesting.
Wow.
That might be the future right there.
Dude, I was fucking having the time of my life.
I'm in like my boxers.
I'm eating popcorn.
I'm having.
I'm like,
but I'm hanging out.
But you're hanging out.
And I'm screaming.
I'm going crazy.
I don't have to worry about.
what I look like.
I'm laying in my bed during down times.
It was probably the best Sunday I've ever had.
No way.
That sounds amazing.
That is a great idea.
Yeah.
That's a big step up from the usually to the group chat.
That's to take the word buzzing.
The group chat's one way.
And then it's just like, hey, let's just get on the fucking chat on PlayStation.
Let's just go.
That is a great call.
Oh, yeah.
See, my buddies and I, we did, we usually every winter, we didn't do it this past winter
was the first time.
Usually every winter, Trent knows this.
We get into a big Halo kick.
We'd always play Halo 3.
It's the same group from college.
We just, like, extended it beyond.
And in the winter, because there's nothing else going on, like one or two nights a week,
we would play Halo for, like, four hours.
Halo 3, we'd jack him.
And my brother back home plays as well.
And it was like, I realized quickly that instead of, like, calling my brother to catch up once a week or whatever,
because we don't live in the same city.
We're, like, best friends.
We would just catch up on Halo all the time.
Yeah, Kyle, how's Robbie doing?
Who's his son?
We were just, like, catch up.
Because we'd be hanging out for four hours.
Literally for four hours, we'd be hanging out.
And that's like now, if you think about it, like two four hours sessions, like eight hours a week for like two or three months during the winter, it's so much time that we don't hang out anymore.
Yeah, but you see, you saw your brother technically, you, you found out more about your brother than you did when you were with him probably because that's what I mean.
You're not sitting with someone for four hours for four hours.
Nobody does that.
That's crazy.
Totally.
I talked to Smitty for five hours last night.
You think I wanted to do that in real life?
No.
Probably the most you've ever hung out ever.
Yeah, I would consider that hanging out.
Totally.
Of course.
I'm hanging.
We're talking.
We're hanging out.
That might be the new thing.
Just fire up the Xbox or the PlayStation during Tiger rounds and talk to your buddies.
Dude, I'm calling you.
It's fucking awesome.
And the craziest part was at one point they were all streaming, right?
Because they, a couple of them were not, one guy's an avid tiger fan.
The other guy were trying to get into golf.
Okay.
And my other friends are just die hard, right?
Yeah.
So the kid who wasn't die hard was still playing Fortnite, still playing Vegas and he was streaming on it.
So he was about, I'd say, 15 to 20 seconds.
behind and this is when tiger was on like whole 10 and we're all going on and he's like
what the fuck's going on oh man that's the buzz in talking about this guy just started playing golf
last year my friend steve he just started playing golf he sucks he's horrible but he can't not
he cannot miss a tiger round he doesn't know he doesn't even know what sports are you ask him
who two players in new york aches are can't tell you but he has to sit there and watch tiger woods
play he has transcended sports to to where people i mean when we were on this jackingies are you
you heard my friend's mom in the background screaming,
oh, like when the ball on 11 went around,
the noises that went on in my headphones and in my,
in my lungs and in my house were crazy.
It was like a yes to a no to a yes while that ball's ringing around the fucking hole.
I mean, that thing felt like it was ringing around for eternity.
And just the people that were making noises,
I think I went, yeah, no, fuck yes.
I think that's exactly what I did.
It's crazy because there's always this concern during the down years, right?
The two or three or four years stretch when Tiger was not healthy,
where you start thinking, like, are we overdoing it?
Like, is it not this good?
And now he's actually back, and it's bigger and better than we thought it was.
The ratings, like the overnight rating last night,
it was higher than three of the four majors last year.
Yeah, it was a 3.6, which is insane.
Think about how stupid we were just watching regular golf the last couple years.
Which, like, think about how excited we got,
but we didn't even know technically, we forgot what we were missing.
You forget.
You forget. Credit to us for a recap sake.
Trent and I kept reminding people that.
We kept saying, like, this is awesome.
We're not trying to downplay it, but we kept mentioning Tiger and all that.
People would be like, oh, he's dead.
It's like, dude, no.
It's just so much.
That's not even calm.
The other stuff's great.
We love watching.
It's very fun.
It's lovely.
This is so different.
This is like, it's just, it is different.
It's its own sport.
We laid it on.
What's playing on Sunday is its own sport.
Yeah, it's its own sport.
We laid it on so thick that people be like, oh, it's a schick.
It's a stick.
It's a stick.
But people forget.
And then it comes around and people are reminded how fucking awesome it is.
I fucking, even like Dave, like Dave Portnoy today, even on the rundown, I was like golf is back, but he was like Tiger, he hates Tiger, hates him.
He was like, Tiger makes it must watch.
We talked about it on the run down.
We talk about golf on the rundown for like three straight weeks now.
Yeah.
I mean, you can't be on a bit.
Golf's back.
We were at the Masters last year and like we talked about Sergio for a podcast and it was great.
It was a great moment.
I was there.
I waved my hat like I was in 1940s, a family member of a sailor that was going to war.
but like that goes and it disappears Tiger
I'm gonna remember that 11th hole even though it did nothing
I'm gonna remember the way that that ball rimmed around that fucking hole
for like two and a half months
dude we got the match play this weekend which is an awesome event
and Tiger's not playing in it and it's gonna be just so tough
to live up to you know it's just tough like nobody wants to say it
nobody in golf wants to be like you know even if it last year was DJ and
ROM I believe in the final which is a great match it came down 18
It was an awesome match.
But it's like, dude, that is not even going to come close to living up to the door of Tiger Woods.
If you had a choice to just read a document where someone just uploaded what he did on a practice round?
You just read a sentence.
Would you rather do that than watch the match play?
I would.
It's just like an old school black and white, old school Mac, like the original Mac book.
It's a fucking Braille.
It's in green, like the green letter.
There's someone just updating that Tiger just stepped up to a T.
I would sit there and just watch that blank screen all day.
I will say this.
The hour and 15 minutes of that PGA tour live.
does of Tiger Woods his warm-up.
Like when they just keep a camera on him for the entire warm-up before his round,
is probably the second most interesting thing in golf behind when he's actually playing.
Yeah, and also that...
It's fascinating.
It's true.
I just encaptivated.
Especially when he's in red and black.
That first tweet that G.C. Tiger Tracker tweets that where he just sees him, like, come out of a car.
Yeah.
He's like, he's in red and black.
We all know he's in red and black, but just like the confirmation that he is in red and black.
And we don't know yet what type of red and black.
We've talked that there are multiple types that he's.
He wears.
He wore a collar this week.
Yeah, what do we think about the red and black?
So I gave it an 8.2.
I saw that.
He, it was, um, it wasn't the, the, uh, blood red that we talked about last week.
It was a little brighter.
And it had a mixture again.
He didn't go to straight solid.
He had the very faded lines, which I like.
I think it's kind of, it's almost, it's tiger-esque, right?
He's got kind of a stripe thing going on.
They're kind of like faded, all that.
There's, I think there's a, you know, there's something in there.
It didn't have a fusion stripe.
If it did, it was like a really subtle one at the top.
I need the fusion stripe.
It's just so committed.
I also have a bunch of real tweet and being like, I saw that shirt at like the Super, the Tiger or the Nike Superstore.
They're like, you can't be wearing a shirt that I can just get off the rack.
No.
We couldn't buy the shirt last week.
I don't know.
I don't think so.
And even if you could, you're not wearing that fucking thing because we can't pull it off.
You imagine if you tried to wear that.
We saw what Patrick Reed tried to do.
Totally.
You imagine tried to wear that.
So.
You show up just trying to golfing with your boys in a red and black.
Like, what's up guys?
Ready to go.
Look, I thought it was a great shirt.
8.2 is a very high score.
I thought it was awesome.
It's very rare that he's going to get a low one out of me,
but it could happen.
Like when he wears like a pinkish one sometimes on Sunday and stuff,
I'm not going to get that high school.
What would you do if Tiger Fuck of Wood showed up in the fucking green shirt one day?
He would never.
Would you think the world would explode?
He would never.
What would have that?
That would be so, I don't know.
What if he just wore?
If he was like, all right, I'm starting a new stage of my career.
This is it.
I'm back, but I do wear a black shirt and just bright red pants.
Dude, he's so the bad.
He's so invested into that, that schick or whatever it is that I was.
So the.
Masters now has put the last 50 final round
coverages on YouTube.
So I was deep in that all weekend.
And I was watching like Tiger 02 or something like that.
Masters.
And they were like massive rain delays, all these things.
And they come out Sunday and they play, you know,
they get up at Sunday at the tee off at like 8 a.m.
And they play like nine holes.
And then they play the 18 afterwards.
And he's so committed.
He even comes out in like a black outfit changes.
during lunch
into red
and then plays the final round.
It's so legendary.
And then I went back
and I was pulling all coverage
that I could find
from times that they've had to do that
on Sunday where they had to finish
the third round.
He does it every time.
I love it.
He changes outfits.
Nobody is more committed to a brand.
Tiger was committed to a brand
before brands were like a thing.
Totally.
He's just red and black.
That's me, baby.
That's me.
And it's only for the final round.
Like the same day thing doesn't work.
It's so good.
Oh my God.
That's amazing.
I am captain.
the very now i have these like clips up just to remind me of the fucking holes this shot on number
four with the recoil yep yep so yeah that was yeah he roasted that so was that on five i think
oh they may have been five i think uh so we're looking at it right now that so that was the hole i was
saying where he had been hitting an iron all week and he ripped driver there that that was the sprinkler
head hole yes so this recoil that's where i remember seeing that when i saw that in real time you have to
you had to have grimaced totally because that is the most back action i've ever seen that's
him do.
Dude, we also...
We haven't talked about both of his shots on 16
that he hit one from the bunker on Saturday
and then the other one from the rough on, like, Friday
where he hit it over those trees on the right.
The one from the rough was insane.
With the pink shirt on when he hit, that must have been...
What day did he have the weird pink shirt out?
Was that Friday?
Saturday, I can't remember.
I think that was actually Friday.
It was Friday.
When he had the weird pink shirt on.
And, yeah, he lashed out of the rough
and hit that up in the air,
the landed right next to the pin and the dribble just over the green.
Like, those lashes he's taken to the ball.
I know it's so cliche to keep saying, but it's like, I lose a part of my life every time because I, like, freak out so much.
Like, what are you doing, dude?
Like the back, protect the back, but he's fused.
I mean, you can tell.
He just literally, he could.
He could.
So aggressive.
He's attacking that ball.
It's crazy.
I can't stop.
I can't look away from this.
Frankie is just, he can't stop.
I cannot stop looking at it.
On Saturday, he had one.
He went out of the bunker.
I forget what hole it was, but he lashed out.
He could have laid up.
It was par five.
Yeah, it was 16.
16. That's okay. That's right. Unbelievable.
So it was, he's great to watch. He's just, it's awesome. It's awesome. It's awesome.
Next time we'll see him is going to be at Augusta National, which is just incredibly exciting.
I'm sure we'll get like a report the next week of like his plane was at the Augusta hangar.
He's been getting invited. They'll be matching like tails, tail numbers.
I saw an up, I got an update on my phone. Like Tiger's already been approached to like play a bunch of crackers for the week.
I think that was a bunch of like, yeah, I think every.
He's like, what does that mean?
I think every kid in the field tries to play with him.
Right.
They put a request in to, like, play a practice round with Tiger Wood.
Right.
So, I mean, whatever.
He should just play by himself.
It would be awesome.
Yeah, he's made no contact with that.
Well, he's way more like Mr. Chitjaddy now, but he used to, like, get in there at, like, 6.15 of the morning.
The son's not even up, and he's, like, already on the second green.
He's also laughing a lot more.
Like, that ball that ended up on the fucking, right on the edge of the hole?
His reaction's stunned me when that happened.
And he just, he just cracked up.
Well, he also, he knew he hit a terrible punt.
Because he putted that one from the fringe.
He knew he hit a terrible putt, and then he, like, was pissed, and then it hit the pin.
And he was like, I got to wait with a butt.
I've just never seen a reaction like that from him before, where he's just smiling and, like, cackling.
Do you think he's a little bit stunned at how good he is already?
He wouldn't admit it, but I would say so.
He's a little stunned at how good he is.
I think he does have to, I think it's probably a reality check for him, like, fuck, man.
Just like last year, I was all over the internet, like, doing fucking, I was getting arrested.
shit and do a sudden I'm walking up to the tea with a chance to win a golf time.
The Hero World Challenge was the last day of November.
So basically like December 1st.
He announced that he could play, that his doctor had given him the right to play
like a month before that.
So that's really like, what, November 1st.
So it's only been like five or six months.
Crazy, man.
That he's gone from like, President's Cup.
He was like, he may never play again.
Who knows?
And now he's out here.
He's sick.
He's almost won the last three weeks, especially last two.
Well, think about us as fans how how tough it was to watch him go through all that stuff,
like the starts and the stops and the back surgeries and the injuries.
And then think about if you're actually him going through all that every time.
And then it's finally working.
Like, he must think he's dreaming.
Dude, he did.
He, I agree.
He also, he had an awesome little story about his kids and how he was saying that, you know,
that he's always had his cool classic Tiger joke about like how he was the YouTube golfer to them.
Because they've never really been alive and been able to remember it since he's been good.
and he said he actually talked to them and he picked them up and dropped them off at school
like Monday and Tuesday of this week before driving up to Orlando from Jupiter and he was like
they had watched they had been watching the whole thing and he's like they were recounting like
every shot and they knew and remembered like every single shot that I hit and he's like to me that
was insane because you know I don't know how old they are now nine 10ish something like that
he's like back when last time I was competitive 2013 he's like they were like three or four years old
they have no idea five years old and they're like they don't know
remember any of that he's like so i'm like taking him to school and they're like yeah me our friends
are like when you hit this shot on that hole and he's like they're going nuts and he's like to me
and you can see like even his face lighting up that it's like blah blah and then i started thinking man
like could you even imagine like the weight on his shoulders when he plays golf and how many people
are rooting for him no how can you even like think about what a player feels like when when
they have a um uh i don't know like a shootout in hockey and you know like all of the
city of St. Louis. I'm a St. Louis fan.
It's like rooting for you. And if you miss, you're going to let
them down. Like, Tiger Woods is out there.
The whole planet is rooting for him.
I thought about the two. The whole planet.
He's been stepping away a lot,
which I think he's always done, but he's doing it.
People are pointing to it a lot more now saying he's taking
his time and he's really like zoning in again.
He's getting back to that part where he's going to step
off the ball. And they're saying
that he's doing that a lot when
the galleries are moving and realizing he's
there. And there's just a stampede.
the background. That's what they were saying yesterday when he was on the tea.
That people, there was a stampede of people in the back and he stepped off.
And I can't imagine what hearing like that rumbling and just, and then just dead silence.
I understand that the whole world's watching, but even in that very small area where every single person in the whole world,
and the whole entire golf course is running there just to get a glimpse of you.
And like, and that's just silent.
And you're looking at the ball.
It's like, fuck.
I would just like in that moment, you got to be like, fuck.
Yeah, totally.
But he lives for it, man.
Like he waits.
That's what he does.
He waits for the stampede to end so people can get into like a good spot so they can shut up and he can just play.
It's dude.
I can't even imagine the pressure that he plays under.
Like I just, for whatever reason that it never crossed my brain that he's playing for everyone.
Like everyone is rooting for him.
Every big star, every big athlete is tweeting every time he's playing about like, come on Tiger, let's do this.
He's got his kids have never like really seen him win something and been able to remember it.
There's guys on tour who are like, I want, I want Tiger to win.
I'm not going to win. I want Tiger to win.
Oh, dude, they were great because he played really early in the morning on Thursday.
And there were a couple journalists that were tweeting they were over by the range.
They were like, Tiger just finished up his round and then walked like behind the range.
And he's like, everyone stopped hitting shots on the range.
And the crowd all turned and was like there's Tiger.
We're like walking just by.
He's walking by everybody.
It's like, I can't imagine being like an amateur golfer and just seeing Tiger Woods, like being really young and just having this whole, just aura of Tiger Woods.
walk and you're playing the same golf course as tagel woods in the same field i don't even know with
his crowds too that he comes with this army of human beings just losing their mind at this guy in red
that just looks like what i loved when he was walking up to cister walking up to 16 uh i noticed he was
he had been like mixing it up he he smiles at fans now he was giving people high-fives he was walking
up to 16 he ignored every single person and just walked right up to the t-box that's what made me
the most upset when he pulled that ball into obi because i was like when he was walking up to that
T-box, I really felt that this fucking guy
was going to put this ball in the hole
on the par five. So did I. I. I thought he was going to
hit this ball 550 yards, because he walked
through a crowd of people and didn't look at any of them.
They all reached over. He just brushed them all off.
I will say, I
loved the answer that he gave
about what happened on 16, because
I was so curious that's such a quirky
little hole, especially when it was a little bit downwind,
which it was. Because it's a very, very
reachable, obviously crazy
reachable, par five.
It's played as a par four before in the tournament back in the day.
So I was really, you know, he's staying on the tee and I'm thinking like,
where is he going to hit this ball?
Because he's been going right all week.
Like, this hole's downwind.
It's not playing very long, blah, blah, blah.
When he yanked that thing left, I just, I was like, man, it's such a quirky tea shot,
blah, blah, blah.
I wonder if he's going to, like, make up some excuse or whatever, blah.
And afterwards, he was like, man, I just didn't even know what I was doing.
He's like, I didn't know if I wanted to just bury it over that bunker and just crush it.
I didn't know if I wanted to, like, feather in a little cut,
or I didn't know if I wanted to hit, like, a three-wood, eight iron into the green, which I could have done.
And it was, I just thought that was such a good answer because he almost, like, laughed.
He was like, dude, I just, I didn't even know what I was trying to do.
I just stood over the ball.
I was like, eh, I don't know where I'm trying to hit this.
That was so relatable.
If Tiger's feeling that, what do you think the fuck I'm feeling?
Totally.
It was so relatable where you stand on a tee and you're like, I don't really know, like where I should be hitting this ball.
And he made it seem like it's an easy fix.
Like, it's not something where he's like, oh, I don't know what.
It would have been way worse if he was like, I don't know what the fuck happened.
It makes it seem like he knew the problem.
It's just he got a little, he didn't commit to a shot is what he said, which was an interesting way to put it.
Right.
I thought it was great.
I just thought that was a very honest, like, dude, I wasn't committed.
I didn't really know exactly what I was trying to do there, which makes sense because, like I said, it's a quirky for how like the distances that he hits the ball.
It's kind of a quirky little t-shot.
Like he knows he has to either hit it left to right if he's choosing a certain line or he needs to pick a line and just fucking roast a driver over that bunk.
which he just wasn't sure, yanked it O.B.
That kind of took all the wind out of the tiger sales.
And then Rory went crazy.

BetD-SI.com. Let's get into some Rory stuff. Big, big week for Rory. It's been, man, it's
been nuts. He's missed two of the last four cuts that he's played in. He obviously missed,
he sat out about three months from late fall all the way through early into this year,
just resting up, ready to go. He announced at the beginning of the year that he might
played 25 to 30 events this year, which would be the most of his entire career.
So, like, basically set everybody up for a big comeback year for Rory.
Euro tour.
He was right in the mix, almost won both the first two tournaments that he played over on
the European tour, came over to the U.S.
Like I said, he struggled in his four starts that he's had here, putted like absolute
dog shit coming off a couple of years of poor putting.
And then all of a sudden, he was just unbelievable this week.
I believe he picked up two and a half.
strokes gained putting per round, which is about 10 strokes on the field in putting this week,
which is just absolutely unbelievable.
He had Trent, this was a great moment.
And again, there's a lot of Rory stuff to get to.
But this was early in the tournament.
I can't remember which day, but when Johnny Miller was chirpid him.
It was Saturday.
It was Saturday.
Yeah, Johnny Miller was on 18.
Johnny Miller says, he says, this is going to be a little controversial comment.
And he goes on to say that if Rory had never gone to.
into a gym he would still be the dominant roy that we saw a few years ago where he was winning
back to like majors and all that and as it's happening fucking roy just stuffs one three feet from the
hole and just it was it was that's when i knew like rory it's he's going to be fine because as soon as
he's starting to shove it down johnny miller's throat that makes me very happy and it's just like
we got rory back now it's if tiger's not going to be the guy to win i want rory up there on the
leaderboard we got everybody back we got johnny miller back this was his first turning back i love
Johnny Miller. I just can't even in my brain fathom how people don't like Johnny Miller. He is
laugh out loud, funny. His commentary is just so much more memorable than anybody else's.
What was the joke that he made, the mustard joke? Oh, he said when Tiger smoked one way right,
that whole we were talking about earlier, the ninth tee shot, he hit one way right into the tent,
and then Tiger was getting ready to take his drop, and he goes, he wiped the mustard off that ball yet.
This is why I hate Johnny Miller. It's the nerves thing. It's always has been the nerves thing.
I think he's a jukebox on Sundays.
Henrik Stenson had been grinding out pars all day long yesterday.
He, like, wasn't wavering whatsoever.
And then he missed one putt by just a little.
And Johnny was like, oh, well, that's got to be nerves right there.
It's awesome.
See?
It's like, it's like, it's Henrik Stenson.
He is a fucking robot.
He's not, doesn't have nerves, Johnny.
It's not, you don't have to say nerves every time.
He also had another great comment.
Bryson Deschambeau.
He does like his, um, Dechambeau, like, rest the, you know, you can't anchor it now,
but he, like, rested along his form or something like that is this putting stroke.
That kid sets me off, by the way.
We'll get to him.
He played like a motherfucker yesterday, though.
And Johnny Miller starts talking.
He's like, if anybody out there's got the yips, by the way, this is a great stroke to go to.
I was actually the first one that ever started doing it.
That's a good day.
It's just so good.
It's such a, he just slips it in there.
And, man, he has those little lines throughout the entire broadcast.
He is incredible.
He makes me laugh out loud probably ten times.
I really wish I knew what his co-workers thought of him, because when he made that comment about Rory,
and then Rory hit the spectacular shot,
there was a beat where it was completely silent.
And then they drowned him out big time.
Yeah, and you knew that they were all just thinking like,
well, how about them apples, Johnny?
Even that, Trent, even that, like, that sort of animosity
or everyone to call it where they're like, you know,
maybe all behind the scenes, they chirp them a little bit,
they know he's Johnny, makes these crazy Johnny comments,
and he always gets into it, and he always talks about himself.
Like, even that, like, that unspoken strife just makes the coverage so good.
He's just awesome.
He is awesome.
I love having Johnny Miller back.
NBC's got the coverage for a while now after CBS, so we're going to get a lot more Johnny Miller.
So it's great to see him back.
Rory.
I mean, Rory had a very, very interesting week.
I guess let's get into the drinking comments.
Trent, you blogged this.
This got a ton of coverage.
I got an ESPN push notification about this.
I don't even think.
they gave me one of those for when he won.
Well, let's put this out there, because I'm sure this is what people are going to compare it to.
We've had Justin, this has been a couple weeks now where there have been interactions between fans and golfers,
and it kind of goes awry for the professional golfer.
This is not a Justin Thomas situation, right?
I agree.
I don't think it was.
I think these apples and oranges, because, first of all, I think the comment that he made sucks.
I mean, the thing that he said is, it's a stupid thing.
Like, they should limit alcohol, sales, blah, blah, blah.
That's never going to happen.
It's not realistic.
My biggest beef with it was that you're putting for something that's just simply not going to happen.
They're not going to limit alcohol sales.
So for Roy, I think we think Roy is a smart guy.
Rory is a smart guy.
He's outspoken.
Every time he's in front of a microphone, I think he says something interesting because he speaks his mind as opposed to 99.9% of the other professional athletes.
He's very candid guy.
But if what he said was, it just logically didn't make sense is why I didn't like it.
So here's what he said.
He said, there was one guy out there who kept yelling my wife's name.
I was going to go over and have a chat with them.
I don't know.
I think it's gotten a little bit much.
to be honest, I think they need to limit the alcohol sales on the course, and they need to do something because every week it seems like guys are complaining about it more and more.
I mean, this is really just a golf's back thing.
People are going crazy. The crowds are going crazy.
People are just going nuts. There's no coincidence.
Frankie and I were talking about this.
There's no coincidence that now we've got Tiger back.
The ratings are through the roof.
The crowds are going crazy.
People are going nuts.
People are yelling.
Well, people are heckling.
It's, look, this.
guy's an asshole. If you're yelling about Roy's wife, you're an asshole. For sure. I wouldn't
have any problem if the marshal early on was like, get this guy out of here. I can't
believe they didn't. Especially if you're yelling a personal thing about the guy's wife.
Yeah. That's a hell out of there. That's completely different. They're completely different
than getting the bunker thing. That's a trash thing to do. It's a garbage thing to do, especially
at a golf event because, yes, we talk all time. Golf wants to be a sport, blah, but golf is a little
bit different. We're all very aware of that. You can't be out there among the golf crowd yelling about
Roy's white. What are you doing, you moron?
get him out of there.
So that guy stinks.
I'm sure Rory maybe was a little bit cold feet on doing something about the guy because of the JT blow up.
For sure.
You know, he's pretty in-tuned with all that type of stuff.
The Rory alcohol comment, it was weird.
It was a wrong, it was the wrong type of comment.
It's not a great thing.
It just came off so wrong.
The problem is is that people are, they're not going to look at it the way we are right now.
It's people are going to lump it in with the Justin Thomas is.
And maybe there is an aspect of that where you're just going to be,
looked at as a whiny country club bunch of guys.
Yeah, and you don't want that.
You know, I do think the crowds are buzzing a little bit more and all of that, which is great,
but it's also not, like, people yelling inappropriate or, like, unwelcome things is not new to anything.
It's not new to golf.
I loved that Golf Channel, shout to Kelly Tillman, who did her whole last thing this week.
Yep.
She's awesome.
She's phenomenal.
She's a trailblazer.
She actually introduced the topic.
I think it was on yesterday's, yeah, it was on yesterday's Sunday's coverage.
She did a phenomenal job introducing it and then basically,
being like, well, here are the two sides to the issue because there are two sides. And she said,
on one hand, it's inappropriate at a golf event. This is a gentleman's game. On the other hand,
golf is becoming more of a sport and a sporting event than it is just a game. And a lot of people
think these golfers just need to toughen up. What are you guys thinking through it to David Duvall,
who he, they were like, you know, David, did this ever happen to you overseas or anything? And he was
like, hell yeah, are you kidding me? And he was like, when I won the 0-1 open over in England,
He was like, I was walking from the 10th green to the 11th T.
And some guy yelled out to me, don't worry, you got plenty of time to blow this, buddy.
Like, right in my ear.
He's like, so people have been doing this forever.
Which, again, I thought it was just a very, it would have been so easy for the golf types to be like, we totally side with, you know, let's calm it down.
And they're very much like, look, we're turning more into a sporting event.
You're going to get idiots.
99.99% of people are positive and doing the traditional golf thing.
you're going to get a couple fucking idiots.
That's just what happened.
And the irony of it, I put this in my blog where this new generation, the Spiths, the Rories, the Justin Thomases, all these guys, they talk about how they were inspired by Tiger Woods.
That was the big part of their maturation process growing up as they came up in the ranks.
Say maturation process.
Isn't that maturation?
Yeah.
Oh, that one threw me off for a loop.
Is that the word?
No, that was great.
Oh, thank you.
No, I was saying that was really nice.
Thank you very much.
Maturation.
Wow.
Maturation process?
That was stunning.
Thank you.
Maturation.
Thank you.
That's a big word.
That's like Joe Debted.
Whatever your take is about to be, it can't top the word.
Well, what I was saying is that it's like, they're all like, oh, Tiger Inspired, Just Tiger, this, Tegger, this, Tegger, that.
And now that he's finally back and he's bringing the crowds that he once did and the eyeballs, it's ironic that they are now somewhat bitching about how popular the game is because the crowds are so big.
And you will notice that Tiger doesn't say anything.
Tiger has not said a word about these galleries.
Because he's like, yeah, motherfuckers, this is how it is.
You know, it's tough to say that they're bitching about how popular is because they're very cognizant to, they keep, like, putting these disclaimers in there.
I don't want it to come off like I'm bitching about, but it's like, dude, it is.
Then just don't say anything.
Why are you, like, and I know these people are asking them, like the, and, you know,
shout out to the journalist now.
They're doing the old, like, there have been a lot of comments about the crowds lately.
What do you think?
And the guys are then, like, going off.
It would just be, why don't they just say, the game's getting more and more popular
Tiger's back?
This is awesome.
And move on.
Like, I just don't understand that because, I don't know, it just, it seems like such a lose,
lose for them to make these comments.
If you have a problem, like, have your team or have, like, the rules official that's with you
or the Marshall that are with you or your caddy.
Like, Tiger used to have Steve Williams was, like, doubled as a bodyguard when he was Tiger's
caddy.
Like, I've mentioned this a couple times.
I mean, Steve Williams used to throw photojournalist cameras into lakes and shit if they were, like,
clicking at the wrong time.
Figure something out, but it's not, I don't think when you bitch to the media, it just always
comes off wrong.
Rory straightaway saying they should cut alcohol sales is just great.
He's talking about the sport and the fans in general.
Like now of a sudden he's just making it seem like he doesn't like having fans be rowdy and have fun.
He's not talking about that one specific fan.
I understand that.
So I kind of, I was about to go off on Rory yesterday because I thought he was going down the Justin Thomas room.
Yeah.
I really did.
I tweeted out like a marshmallow.
I'm like, you know, I tweeted out of marshmallow.
And I'm like, I'm thinking to myself, well, this guy's miscuts recently.
And now of a sudden he's back in the mix this week.
And he's complaining about the crowds and Tiger.
has these crowds around him and it's another it's just jt 2.0 that's what i thought but then
fucking rory mackroy gets on to the golf course he looked stunning in his outfit yesterday
i pa i looked at i i was texting my buddies and i was on the playstation with them talking i'm
like rory mackleroy is a beautiful human being right now he wears those fucking outfits better he
looks like a mannequin too well and he looks like when the mannequins have the clothes on it's like
how the how does my shirt gonna fit like that's like oh that's just rory well and riggs and i have
talked about on this on this here show about his strong
strut and his walk. He's got the biggest dick
swinging when he walks. Oh, yeah. He definitely lets
his hands flow. I don't know
how his, like, um, he does, and he lets
his pecks go up a little bit. Yeah. He kind of pops
him. The distance covered from the top
of his head at the top of his strut to the bottom
of the strut has to be like four feet.
He does like that walk dip thing, you know?
So all of that. It's insane. I don't know what that is.
All that really comes into play when I was thinking about if I want to
hate him for this week or not, but I mean, I just can't
hate Rory Macra. He's so much different than Justin Tusson. I agree.
He went out. He had, he had, he had.
made he went off with the party he's hitting 50 footers huge fist pumps he's doing huge
fist pumps i'm still like i'm i'm down from what tiger did but i'm still saying oh yeah like when
he's hitting cuts because he's also morey people though we've always been rory for sure just
thomas came into our lives like just out of nowhere he got really hot and he's always been a dick
from all i've known of him rory hasn't been a dick my no my whole fandom of his of my maturation
of being a rory fan nice nice nice we're crushing that you know yeah maturations
So maturation.
I just got to keep saying it.
I do wish he would have thrown his hat on the birdie put on 18.
He said he thought about it, which I like.
He commented that he was like, I was aware of that.
He was right.
It was the exact same.
He also, they were like, they asked about the punt.
And he's like, I know what that does.
I've seen Tiger make it like 50 times.
That's what I mean.
These are guys who've been watching Tiger forever.
And now the crowds are Tiger side.
It's got to be crazy for them.
They legitimately plague off because of Tiger.
And now he's out there changing the scene, like, in front of their face.
It's, I mean, and then Tiger tweeted either last night or early this morning, like,
It was great watching Rory out there.
Like, where he's got to be looking at it?
Like, what the fuck is going on?
Yeah.
It's so crazy.
Yeah.
It's also Tiger had must have had a PR person tweet that because in reality
Tiger was probably like, I'm going to fuck.
It was also a weirdly worded tweet if we're really going to break down that tweet.
It was strange.
It probably was.
All right.
We're going to lose Frankie now.
Frankie's got to go to the radio.
Frank.
Power 85.
Barcer Radio, Power 85.
Everybody check it out.
Mike and the Murdog on 9 a.m., no big deal.
Yep.
Thank you, Frank.
We'll move on without you.
All right.
Thanks, guys.
Thanks, buddy.
Maturation.
Maturation.
Nice.
So let's get into Patrick Reed.
Okay.
Trent Daddy.
We've talked about Patrick Reed a million times.
Yep.
I love Patrick Reed.
Me too.
Because he's Team America.
What did you think about this clip?
So what happened was he, it was tough to tell exactly what was going on because it was a gallery members' vantage point with their phone.
But Patrick Reed, he's in some crazy bush area, surrounded by like tents and carp paths and all kinds of stuff.
he's talking to the rules official they capture him on camera the rules officials like you know i
don't think that i think you have to take an unusual stance basically to end up needing relief there
so you got to play it as is patrick reed says i bet if my name were jordan's beat i'd get some
relief um kind of goes back and forth ends up saying he needs like a third opinion what'd you
think of this trend daddy i liked it and i'll tell you why here's here's where i've come to land
on patrick reed i like him because he is him at all times he never is not him and it's the thing
Bubba Watson has yet to learn.
Yes, Patrick Reed is a little bit of a dick.
Yes, he's a little bit cocky.
Yes, he rubs people the wrong way.
But that does not let it change who he is.
He still wears the red in the black despite getting a lot of backlash these last
couple weeks because Tiger is wearing it too.
That joke that he made about Jordan's beef, was it a little dickish?
Yeah, was he being like a little moody?
Yeah, but that's him.
He doesn't care if there's cameras or not.
He's going to be Patrick Reed at all times, and I respect the authenticity of that.
And it's funny.
The Jordan's speech joke is funny.
And him and Jordan are boys, so it's not like it's a, like Jordan's not going to
like, oh, why did Patrick Greed say that? And it's probably true. But I just like that he is always
himself at all times. And whether you like him or not, he's still just going to be Patrick Greed.
It was awesome. I loved it. When he took it a step further, like, he was legitimately bickering
back and forth through this rules. The first one of the guy was like, he's like, I, actually,
I'd like a third opinion. He's like, oh, you'd like a 30 opinion? He's like, yeah, I would like
a third opinion. It was awesome. Like, he was so fiery. I couldn't agree more. He is our,
he is our Ian Polter. For sure. He's our guy. Yep. No matter what. And I keep saying,
it, but the further and further we get from every rider
cup, people forget about how
important Patrick Reed is to us.
He's our guy. I don't care
about his sketchy pass. All that almost adds to it.
The other thing is, it kind of evolves into
a larger conversation just about
golfers in general and on tour and what you look
for. And the bottom line is
people that are in, for whatever reason,
people that are just more entertaining or more
interesting to watch are guys that
I need in golf. And Patrick
Reed is one of those guys. And it might even be, right, like, I want to use the Charlie Hoffman example.
We met Charlie Hoffman. We had him on the podcast. He's great. He's got great, like, funny little
one-liners. Every, like, 90 seconds, he would pop up and make a laugh-out, loud, funny comment.
Charlie Hoffman is very boring to watch play golf. We said that during the Masters last year.
We just weren't rooting for Charlie Hoffman because he's just boring to watch play golf.
I actually don't, I think on a personal level, I would be way better friends with Charlie
Hoffman than I would be with Patrick Reed. But I think Patrick Reed is infinitely more interesting
to watch golf. He just adds another.
element to it. He's bickering. He's got the top, I'm a top five guy comment. He's wearing the
tiger outfit, which he looks like a dumpy, terrible version of Tiger Woods. It's crazy. If you like,
I'm not saying Patrick Reed is the villain that we've been looking for because he's Captain
America, but if there was aspects of a villain in golf, you would be like, all right, he's this,
he's that, all right, he's got to wear red and black on Sundays like Tiger just to do it.
Like, he would be, that's a perfect thing for Patrick Reed to do for, he's polarizing.
That's it. It's what you're saying. Golf needs as many personalities you want. You can't
have a bunch of Charlie Hoffman's and Paul Casey's.
Like you need people who are interesting.
Whether you like him or you hate him, we're still talking about it.
We've been talking about Patrick Reed for a fucking month in a row.
Totally.
And it's because he does something interesting every single week.
Whether you like it or you hate it, it doesn't matter.
I couldn't agree more.
I just like, I'm in, um, you're captivated.
Captivated watching him play.
Thank you, Trent.
He's great.
I would even use the Kevin Kisner example.
Kisner is boring as hell to watch play golf.
I've told him that to his face.
And he goes, that's my goal, which is totally understandable.
Yeah.
Yeah, they're not trying, there's this, you know, when you're trying to play golf at the highest level, you're supposed to try to achieve like a very level state throughout your whole round.
You're not supposed to get two up, two down.
That's fine.
That's what a lot of guys do.
That's what Hoffman does really well.
That's what Kiz does really well.
When I chirp him about being a boring player to watch, he's like, that means so much to me.
That's literally exactly what I'm trying to do.
Right.
And that's fine, but they're just not going to be as captivating to the audience as a lot of these other guys.
Patrick Reed's one of those guys.
I would even say Bubba is one of those guys.
Bubba is fascinating to watch.
When he's bitching nonstop and all that,
we don't like Bubba.
We've been anti-Bubba for a long time for a lot of good reasons.
But I would take Bubba Watson at the top of the leaderboard
over a lot of other guys because he's fascinating to watch.
Well, we're a couple of things.
We're in a different position maybe than everybody else.
We cover golf.
We have a golf podcast.
You're listening to it right now.
So we have a vested interest in there being interesting characters within the sport.
Like if you, maybe before I started working to Barcelona,
I wouldn't care about the Bubba Watson's and the Pulcers and the,
Patrick Reed's the world.
But there is a vested interest in a guy in guys who are so into the sport like we are
where it's we need people because we want people from the outside to be like,
you should talk about Patrick Reed, you should talk about Ian Polter,
you should talk about Bo Watson, because it's interesting and it draws eyeballs in a way
in a different way than Tiger, but it does still bring people in.
If you are listening to me right now, you already know about this podcast.
This is the four play golf podcast trip.
That is true.
But do you know where to give us feedback on each episode, find out which guests we have
coming up or discover new Barstool podcasts launching soon?
Where can I find that type of stuff, Riggs?
Well, that is exactly why we started the Barstool Podcast Club on Facebook,

All you have to do is say this podcast sent you join right now.
I even think I think Bryson D. Chambot at this point is starting to fall into that conversation
where he is interesting to watch plague off.
Yes.
His whole thing with his mad scientist stuff, I feel really good about our original takes on Bryson
because we said this was a year ago around this time a year ago when Bryson was his Microsoft
commercial was crazy viral and it was getting played every weekend.
and he was not in the tournament because he kept missing the cuts.
And we kept saying, Trent kind of spearheaded this,
you kept saying, look, it's not that we even hate Bryce de Chambot.
It's that we hate how big he is and how much exposure and coverage he's getting
for someone who stinks and is missing all these cuts.
Yep.
And the whole super crazy unorthodox thing with all the clubs being the same length
and he's this psycho-like physics major who looks at everything.
That's really cool and interesting if it works.
When you're just missing cuts all the time, it's like,
hey, dude, maybe you just rely on feel.
everybody else because you're a natural talent that's won a U.S. Amateur.
Now that he's in the mix, now that he's, he won the John Deere Classic, I believe,
is what he won last year.
And he's turned it around.
The fact that he, he played gutsy even down the stretch yesterday.
All the things that you said are true.
And we have said them in the past.
He proved some shit to me yesterday.
He had an eagle on 16 where it's like, all right, let's go.
Like, I still don't like you, Bryce Neeshambo.
You're polarizing in the Patrick Greenway.
But I'm going to watch you.
If you want to get into a playoff with Rory, like, let's fucking do it.
Absolutely.
And his, man, some of his reactions when the ball didn't go into the hole were all time.
Like, you know, the guys always do that disbelief kind of look when a putt should go in and it stops breaking towards a hole or something like that.
His, because of all of his physics and he's got the book and he basically is trying to take feel completely out of the game.
He's like this mathematician.
He's looking at all the degrees of break on the green and all this.
And he hits these putts that don't break the way that he thinks they should break.
And his body's short circuits afterwards.
Yeah.
Like, he cannot comprehend how, like, the physics, like, literally Newton's laws of physics, like, shut down in that moment.
I almost need him, like, you know how they always have, like, those confusing Goodwill hunting boards, like, when there's a map?
I need him, like, after Miss a putt, like, looking up at one of those and, like, erasing shit.
Statching all over with, yeah, with, like, a chalk with some chalk.
So he, I thought he really emerged as a big time winner this week.
For sure.
Jumping on the stage and getting up there with the big names.
I mean, the leaderboard yesterday, it's crazy because Bryson D.
Di Chambot has been kind of this young gun, kind of a relatively big name among the pack of young guys, but like, you know, he hasn't kind of reached that tier.
And his name yesterday, the leaderboard was so stacked yesterday.
His name was like the worst name on the leader.
It's crazy.
It's so crazy.
With Rose and obviously Rory and Stinson and Tiger.
And it was just, Ricky was up there for a while.
It was a special, special day out at Bay Hill.
Golf is so back.
God, golf is the most back sport.
Again, even Dave's admitted it. Big Cat was talking about it today.
He was saying how he was commenting on how jacked Roy looked.
He's like, I've never seen someone that looked like that jacked.
And we finally, Big Cat said this morning, he was like, I was actually watching Tiger as opposed
to March Madness.
Like he wasn't doing his tiger fanboy stick.
He was like actually invested.
So it's starting to turn some heads now, big time.
Golf is back.
It's unbelievably exciting.
Speaking of back, we got all kinds of merch hit in the store this week.
Yes.
We got new shirts.
We got new tiger shirts coming out.
The old one also is just.
maybe the greatest shirt ever.
Those shirts are all over the coverage.
That shirt has become now it's just like, it's crazy to me that it never existed.
Like it's so ingrained in what we do and tigers come back and what we're trying to do that it's just I see that.
I'm like, that's like, that's perfect.
You go to store at barstfulsports.com.
You're going to see all kinds of good stuff in there.
The head covers that we've been talking about and teasing for weeks are days away from coming out.
What happened, they're on a boat.
They were on a boat coming over from like China.
They were trying to track this boats going over the Pacific.
Pacific Ocean, very dangerous place.
Very dangerous.
Crazy, very unpredictable place.
It finally lands.
Now they get flown over to like Chicago.
So we've been tracking them.
People are freaking out.
I get so many borderline like angry tweets about the head covers.
Like where are they?
I think we just teased them too early.
We teased them too early.
We got bad intel on the boat.
That boat was closer than we thought it was.
That was like a month and a half ago.
I'm almost convinced people are going to like start setting up outside of my apartment being like where are the fucking head covers?
People are mad at us about the head covers.
People are sending like mean, like mean messages.
Like where the fuck are those head covers?
covers rigs. How do you tease those six weeks ago?
They're coming. They're so close.
We're going to start. That damn boat. We're putting those on sale within a couple
days. So get jacked up about that. We got new things we're doing with Tiger stuff,
with Foreplay stuff in general. It's a, it's the Masters is two weeks away, which is
crazy town. Masters is only a couple weeks away. And you know, everybody knows what
means. Even we got a ton of fans up in the Northeast. Once the Masters hits, you get all
jacked up. And then once the Masters is over, it's spring. So now you get to go out and actually
play golf. So we're going to hit the store with all kinds of
brand new golf stuff just in time for golf season.
So it's a great time to be alive.
There's, oh, man, Trent.
It's crazy to think that, like, two months ago, we were basically laying out the
landscape for what could be the greatest PGA tour, like, professional golf season
of our lifetime.
We are now basically, what, two and a half months into it.
Yeah.
And it has.
It's delivered.
Delivered.
Like, more than we could even hope.
The Phil Mickelson win is really what kind of huge.
Put it up a whole other level.
The Phil win, even the controversies that have crept in that have put golf on the map,
like Dave Portnoy having to take a huge stance against Justin Thomas,
who's like the hottest, biggest like American in the game,
us having to like then weigh in and be like, which side of this are we on?
Rory now breaks through and wins.
Tigers almost won a couple weeks ago.
You listed off right at the beginning of the show.
All of the winners from the tour this year, we haven't even gotten to a major championship.
Nope.
We still have a WGC match play this weekend, which is an awesome tournament down in Austin.
This tournament down in Austin, I've grown in love with Austin.
I think it's Austin C.C.
is the course where they have the bridge, you know, that whole.
Yeah.
A massive part five where people hit like, guys hit like 470-yard drives over and over again.
We get to see that course where we see crazy match play golf.
So I'm jacked up about that.
Then we got Houston, which I don't really give a shit about the Houston tournament.
Then it's the Masters.
We're not even to the Masters yet.
Golf is the hottest sport on the planet right now.
We just had the, like, the most upsets.
a March Madness opening weekend, and people just want to talk about Tiger.
And Rory won.
And Rory, he is, Tiger is so electric.
God damn.
I can't believe it.
All right, that's all I got for this week.
Awesome stuff.
Awesome.
