We got John Daly and Fuzzy Zeller together, their boys. They got, what, four major championships between him. I believe Fuzzy's got a Masters in the U.S. Open. J.D.'s got a PGA and the British Open at St. Andrews. It's laugh out loud, funny that he won a British Open at St. Andrews. But John Daly, on the show. Very exciting. A hilarious, a hilarious interview.

We spent the latter part of last week at the Insparity Invitational presented by United Healthcare down in the Houston area. Unbelievable event. Great time. I got to say, John Daly was as friendly a guy and as just down to earth and walked in and was like, what's up, boys? What do you got? What do you want to talk about, a guy as you could possibly imagine? Yeah, because that's his reputation, right? He's this common guy.

Everybody loves him. He's got a huge following because he's a genuine person. And you hope you're going to meet that in person. And then when we met him, that's exactly what he was. Yeah, you never know. Don't meet your heroes kind of thing they say all the time. Go meet fucking John Daly. If you can meet John Daly.

He and Fuzz together were absolutely hysterical. So people are going to love that. That's coming up in just a couple minutes. We got a bunch of interviews. We got John Daly and Fuzzy Zeller. We got Paul Lorry, who won the 1999, British. We got Nancy Lopez and Dave Stockton together. We got to do a bunch of putting with them.

Pudding talk that was next level. And Dave Stockton. Next level in what way? So Dave Stockton is, of course, the putting guru. All the guys go to him. Rory's gone to a bunch of guys go to him. Phil Mickelson's gone to him. He's a putting guru.

He's like Mr. Pudding. And he's allowed to be called a guru because he's 77 years old. Correct. I don't know. Is guru? Is there an age requirement? Yeah. Requirement.

I said requirement. Well, we were doing, we did Prodigy one time. What's the age situation of Prodigy? Oh, that's what I was thinking about. Guru, though, I think. Is he a putting prodigy? No. Prodigy had to be younger, correct.

So he is a guru. Guru's like a teacher. But I do think you got to probably be a certain, like the president, right? You got to be like 35 or higher or whatever it is to be president. I think guru, you can't be like a 22-year-old guru. Prodigy ends at 14 years old. Guru starts at like 50. Yep.

I think that's about... Those numbers felt right to me. So if someone's 47 and they're like, I'm a guru, you're like... It's like, you're not there yet, dude. You're on your way, maybe. You're a master maybe. Ooh. No, you're not there yet.

No. So Dave Stockton is a putting guru. These other interviews, we're going to roll them out over the next couple weeks with Paul Laurie and Nancy Lopez, Dave Stockton. But I just a little teaser. Like, he talks about putting in a way that you won't even... Like, you won't even know what was potting. to talk about it, and it's so soothing and seems to make a ton of sense when you hear him talk about it is something special.

I told him once he got finished talking about putting, I said before this conversation, now I feel like I knew nothing about putting because he just brings a whole new light to putting. Now I know everything beforehand. I knew nothing. Correct. So on this one, you're getting JD. You're getting fuzz. They're awesome.

Again, big thanks to the Insparity Invitational, presented by United Healthcare. We had an awesome time down there. Really, really cool event. A lot of big names. And then the 3M grades of golf, which they have a bunch of these just legend. generic figures down there who compete, who do all kinds of events, who do pro-am stuff, who sit down with guys like us. They're just very accessible.

You get a ton of exposure to them, and that's why it's such a cool event. And then Houston in general, it was awesome. We're going to talk about a couple things before we get to the John Daley interview. First thing we have to talk about is the Thursday night dinner at the Inspired invitation by United Healthcare. So the dinner, we go to this big dinner, right? There's like hundreds of people there probably. Oh, yeah, a couple hundred.

Several hundred people there at this dinner. Huge dinner. Dozens and dozens of tables. It's a really nice dinner, but it's in the gigantic, gigantic conference, like banquet hall thing. And it's emceed by Jim Nance. Now, the Jim Nance. Right. The Jim Nance that you're picturing, it's that one.

Jim Nance, I got to say, at this fucking event, he comes out to music. comes out to the Augustine song. No, he didn't. Yeah, he did. Wait to hear all about all this, Frankie. So he comes out. You guys just heard the pianos and like, no, they're playing it on like an iPod.

I know, but like you hear like the noise and you're like, what the fuck's going on? And then you see like Jim Nance appear. It was more they, I think they announced him. Like, all right. Now, as everybody knows, our very special guest who's going to emcee this,

this fantastic event tonight, Mr. Jim Nance. And then do, do, do. We're nowhere near Augusta. You know, the Masters was a couple weeks ago. It has nothing to do with the event. But that's just his music. When Jim Nance appears, we thought, at one point we thought maybe it was in our heads.

Like, here comes Jim Nansen. Maybe we're just like Pavlov's dogs. You see Jim Nantz who hear the Augusta theme. But everybody else said, no, it's actually happening. So he comes out and, you know, he takes the podium and he's Nats, right? He's as smooth as they come. and he gives it about five or ten seconds lets the music kind of died out and he's like all right all right now everybody welcome to this amazing night and i just i just have to say hello friends

it was you brought the house down oh man people were going nuts losing their shit oh they loved oh man so nance was emce in this whole thing and you know he he he does all these little things where he kept he'd be like um you know there's nothing worse than anybody who name drops, you know, and then he would just go into a story about name dropping like 15 names like Jake Owen did. I was going to say, it's a Jake Owen move. Yes.

Huge Jake Owen move. He, everything he said made everyone there, I believe, almost like start crying. He's just like the most emotional speaker. Even the way he would transition to like a new speaker is going to come up now. It almost made everybody cry. Yeah, you hear him on the TV broadcast and you think that he's

dialing it up because he knows that this is a big master's moment. It's a big. tournament moment. But it turns out he's like that all the time. That's just what he does. He gets people's emotions going and it's a very natural thing to him. You just think, all right, this isn't how he always is, but it just is.

You think Jim Nance does that when he's like talking, like he's giving a cheers at a dinner? Well, we had this conversation. We're like, what is Jim Nance like around the house? And I think it's like that all the time. He's like, I bet he makes his kids and his wife cry all the time. Yeah, just by speaking to them. Thanksgiving dinner. He's sitting at the head of the table.

He stands up and he just gives one of these emotional speeches. the whole fucking place goes like into like a puddle like he doesn't go back to his house take his shoes off and be like thank God honey I got the fuck out of that place in Houston Jesus people are the worst I think he legitimately sits down and like grabs his wife by like

you know the bottom of like her cheek and is like Houston is such a special special place and she like starts tearing up and I like I honestly that's just how he conducts himself 24-7 it is unbelievable this guy he was never out of character once it was a point, Frankie, where he was, and he's him seeing this whole, it was laugh out of

funny him, him seeing this whole thing, like, he had one line. He actually had a bunch of people come up on stage and take a photo. And he said out loud, Trit Daddy. I've got it written down. I wrote it down. It's so funny. He brought all these people on stage, all these greats on stage. He's getting people jazzed up for it.

We're all watching in the crowd. And he goes, this is one of the great photo ops of our lives. Like, that doesn't mean anything really. But when it comes out of jazzed. Jim Nance's mouth, it meant everything. He was like, this is great, everybody. Come on. This is one of the great photo ops of our lives. Were these people just regular people?

No, they were the greats of golf, but it's just, you don't, that's not how you describe a picture being taken. No, it's like everything he says seems like the title to a chapter in a book. Yes. And also off the top, there was a little master's talk. He's like, all right, we're going to run a master's mod.

That should do with such a special event. He ran a highlight tape of his calls. So he did. Yes, he did. He did the return. He basically, He basically showed a 40-second clip, and the main part of it was The Return to Glory. And the Tiger Woods clip, but it was just all of him talking. Frankie, the only golf shot they showed was Tiger's six-inch putt on the 72nd hole. And then the whole rest of it was Jim Nance talking and him calling the whole thing to the point where they actually showed, like half of it, they showed where, you know, they just have that random B-roll of like the 12th hole.

Yes. And then Nance is just talking over the leaderboard. That was literally the highlight that they showed. So I can't get like a takeaway from this. Are you guys saying that he's almost like, like, is it too cocky or is it just or is he a lot? Like, what's the, what's the Jim Nance vibe? He's, he's, well, it's too much. No, it was.

Showing a highlight tape of you speaking. And when you say we're going to show a master's montage, seems like the most like, I guess my biggest takeaway was that he doesn't dial it up. It's just, this is just who he is. I think he believes in everything that he says and everything about himself. And like, it was something. It was special. I mean, it honestly was just special. There was another point, Frankie, where he actually,

he was caught in between MC and the next people that were supposed to be up on stage and the last people and this and that. And he goes, how about, let's get a little music playing. How about you guys in the back, throw a little music on there? And then they just played the Augustus song. He gave them an iPod at the beginning of the night that had one song on it. And every time he said, let's play a little music. Let's play a little music.

It was just the Augusta theme song. And we were dying, him being like, yeah, throw it. on just anything you got whatever you guys got just go ahead and toss it on the control them like fuck you only give us one song do we play it just yeah replay it replay it replay the august song and he would he did this thing too he would bring people up on stage and and interview them so he would bring four people four grades of golf up on stage and he would ask them all the same question and at one point he would he had boil it down he kept saying that he said boil down your career for one one career win what was the best one to you the person would answer he'd turn a little

to his right he go now boil down the best one moment of your career. Just boiled down first. What would it be? Turn a little to the right. Now, boil down the best. And he just kept doing it over and over again. He did.

He was, it was unbelievable. He did. He just did that little pivot turn. Look your square, like square everything up. Just go, how about you, Nancy? Boiled down for us real quick. Boiled down to the best shot. Oh, my God.

It was like every light and every eyeball on the planet was now fixed on Nancy. And it was just Jim Nance was, it was unbelievable. It was just, it was a clinic. I never seen anything like it. There was also a montage. of at one point they just named all the greats over the building like jack nicholas was there Gary player was there all these guys were there and he said turn the house lights on i want to point these people out and you know uh jack nicholas's name would come up and he had this folder

that all had i think just no notes on it and he would he would look out there every time and he put the folder over his eyes so he could see he's like oh there's jack out there and then leitrovino missed his flight that was a huge goddamn deal he was like was litrevino here do we know did he miss his flight did it land in houston or not he'll move on from that but every time he said someone's name, he would put the folder over his eyes and he just had no idea what he was looking at. It was really, really something. Yeah, he kind of sold it.

You know, he gave the whole like, where are you? Are you out there? Yeah. Jackie, out there. I think you're out there, right? And he just did it like 30 times in a row. It was ultimate MC. Oh, he was great.

It's like he operates himself like he's always surrounded by Butler's Cabin. Oh, he had another line where he goes, um, so they do this speech contest each each year at this thing. Okay. Have these three guys come up that represent like each different, uh, you know, charity and company that are doing these, which companies are doing a great. great job and uh they do this little speech contest and so he he brings the three guys out there and he goes um he goes now you know in the last 63 days um i've i've called uh the super bowl i called the final four called augusta called the masters and he goes us doing all those things last 63 days is the biggest

competition i call all year long no he didn't yep oh my god legitimately listed all of the gigantic gigantic events that he's called in the last two months and then was like now this speech contest there's this guy Rick who fucking wins every year sure heard the crowd going crazy for Rick I think that was the best speech in the world you know he's speeches he had a Millmore-esque um he's talking about how he always plays these proams and how he did a whole deal where he equated it to Tiger right he's like now I've been out of the pro am game for about 10 years a lot of people been asking when you're going to be back this that and he goes well you know this year I was finally back I was able to be healthy and get out and play

more golf again and and then he cut to he's like well luckily we had the camera car out there and it was a millmore job of this guy rick's head on tiger woods closing out the master oh nice it's pretty place went bananas i mean there's place went crazy people jumping off the wall imagine the people are going crazy for this stuff oh man they were they were going nuts you know what it's crazy is that i was like you guys are swept away from this uh you know this this this experience because you're in the presence of jim dance you can hear his voice you see it but like hearing the story sounds like he's like egotistical it doesn't come off that way when you're there. That's what I mean. It must be completely

different when you're in the mood. He's whipping everyone up into a frenzy. But when you hear like he's just like, I mean, he announced that he announced the biggest things in the world, but him emceeing a speech contest is the biggest. Like, come on

dude. He said this is one of the great photo ops of our lives. That was an unbelievable comment. It is amazing when you hear him and when you're in the presence of him that how much different it can come off because he just knows how to control the room. Sneaky, very tall too.

Really? Yeah. Well, I walked by him once last year at the final four. It was right before the Masters. And I said it felt like, when he walked by me, it felt like the breeze from A Man Corner went right through my body. Love that. That's special.

Yeah. If you told him that, he'd have a tear in his eye. Oh, yeah. Oh, no, he'd probably have something more, like, magical to say. Yeah, he would. I got Ray's Creek flowing through your veins. Yeah, yeah. Oh, that's not the wind, son.

That's Ray's Creek missed. The other note I have here was a fancy dinner. We wore dress shirts and slacks and people were wearing coats. It was a pretty fancy dinner. Black tie event? No, not black tie, but you got to dress up nice.

Miguel Anhele Jimenez was there, the mechanic. He just wore jeans and like a Hawaiian shirt. Yeah, he did. A Hawaiian shirt. Yes, he did. Just stroll in, hair was wet, just got out of the shower.

Didn't care. He looked amazing. He did look amazing. We saw him in the practice trial. He looked pretty skinny, actually. Yeah, he was slim down for sure. I don't know what the deal was. Was he doing that knee thing?

You know, he was in the middle of a round, so he wasn't warm up. He was just playing golf, so it's hard to tell. But we saw him up close. He was heroic. Guess what's fast approaching, ladies and gentlemen? Mother's Day. It's coming. It's coming really fast.

rolled in like country club attire right like you know nice like peter moore shorts child like nice you know collard shirt tucked in all that stuff there's some people on the practice screen and whatnot and like jim shorts and like a t-shirt just hanging super casual club uh they announce everybody on the first tea no they don't yeah they do our guy duncan shout out to him he was like so uh what's your name and where you from all that because i'm going to announce you on the first tee i said my name's i'm from cedar rapids iowa sure enough he announced all of us right before we went off shut the fuck up wait to you we're going to put all this into a video we're going to put all this into a video he announced me he goes next up rounding out the group the commissioner himself and then he

announced my actual name sam bezoian which like nobody can pronounce my last name correctly announced it flawlessly from st louis missouri it was there a crowd or was it just to you guys it felt like we're too off of the masters but there was no crowd it was just uh it's unreal and when they do it everybody in the group claps so they like announced me they're like you know i got where were your nerves coming up the number one if you just got announced or were you guys like fine because of how relaxed and cool it was. A little bit of a mix. So I've got the Bethpage Black Drive under my belt, so I'm never nervous on the first

team anymore. You were fine. I was fine. I hit another great drive. Holy shit. Had another great drive. You got to play pretty well too. Really?

Yeah. Yeah, you did. Pretty well for me. Great. Well, for people that want an update, I said I've been to update my game every time I play. I shot 110, Blue Jack, which is fucking great compared to what we were doing at Beth Page. Shaved a lot of strokes off your Beth Page.

drive. Shaved the strokes off of the drive is what did it. Big time. Because I was rusty on the drive. I was topping it a lot at Bethpage Black. Now if I actually get it out there, we're actually playing some golf. And that's the number I told you on the team. You did. I said you've been driving it so much better because I think you've been playing a little bit more now. If you had driven it like that at Bethpage, you would have shaved like 20 or 30 strokes off. I have never driven the golf ball as well as I drove it Saturday Blue Jack. Guy was a machine out there. Now, Blue Jack is the way they designed the golf course. The reason it does look like Augusta, obviously like tiger woods is mr augusta you can tell that's his favorite place in the planet

because he designed the whole place it's all cut uh fairway length so there's no rough um it's all pine straw so you can't lose a ball so if you do spray one of the trees you just walk up you're just white golf balls just on pine straw uh very difficult around the greens like yeah a ton of undulations and you got to hit these tight little frank you would have fucking nightmares oh my god i had all these tight little pitches and stuff because there's no rough right you never get like a fluffy lie yeah it's all like tight lies around the green so it gets tricky around the greens but the fairway is very generous. Mowed beautifully everywhere. Just these gorgeous holes like among the pines in the in, with the water. It was just it was spectacular. And it was just fun, man. It wasn't like the line that I've been using is there's so many clubs you go to where they make you feel like you're lucky to be

there. And this, they made it feel like they're lucky to have you. Right. Like the all the southern hospitality of the service was off the charts. Just the way they take care of you, making sure you're having a good time, smiles, laughs. Everybody on the range comes up, introduce themselves. Hey, what's going on where are you guys from hope you have a good time today there's music playing our looper phil was my looper was just like chit-chatty telling us stories patrick reeds a member there um c t pan who just won on the tour a couple weeks ago he's a member out there obviously tiger built the golf course like it was just as fun they have a part three course unfortunately they don't have time to play the part three course but like i might do a whole other houston trip just to go back

and spend a weekend there it was awesome i mean it looks incredible it was fucking outrageous I recommend if you go on to Minor Trent's Instagram and check out the photos. Because who-hoo! Pictures are insane. Blue Jack Nash. We took as many videos as we can. We ended up, you know, we had a couple drinks, so we got a little drunk. So the video didn't round out perfectly, but we'll put something together.

Headlines, Max Homa, one on the PGA tour. Got to give him a shout out. He's one of the best follows on Twitter. A bit of a stoolie, really, really, really good dude. Chatted it up with him a little bit down at the Ways Management. He's always been in the mix with us commenting on a lot of different stuff that we put out on our podcast. on this, that. It's at Max Homa, 23 is his Twitter.

He put out, the first tweet that he put out after he won last night was the Jordan Shrug tweet. Pretty good. Which is pretty fucking good. That's pretty strong. He's come from, you know, he, I believe one of the stats was two years ago on the PGA tour. He missed 15 cuts out of 17 starts. He's been an absolute grinder. He talked a good amount afterwards about, you know, a lot of the loads and whatnot and how hard he's grinding.

And just to have a full-time job in the PGA tour and all that. Really good dude. really funny dude. He gets it. He's got a very candid sense of humor. He has a very candid usage of social media. Far too often. We see all these guys just putting out like robotic tweets and their sponsors and shit. He's always in the mix of people on Twitter and all that. So Max, awesome guy. He played lights out. He played, I think he played with Rory on Saturday.

And then yesterday he was playing with Duff Daddy and knew he's playing to win this golf tournament and was able to just play lights out and get it done. Yeah, Rose, Rory, and Duff were all up there. So he'll take those guys down. at a major championship caliber golf course. Withstood a weather delay too, which is always tough. Always tough to do that.

He had a great line. This tells you a little bit about his background where he said, oh yeah, the feeling like I belonged was always the worst part. I felt like I was walking. Nobody knew who I was. No one cared. They shouldn't have cared.

I felt like I shouldn't be playing practice rounds with these people. I felt like I was on an island and it was, you know, borderline embarrassing. It was embarrassing at times, but it ain't embarrassing anymore. It's a cool story now. Love it.

So him coming like full circle and went in on PGA tour. Awesome, awesome story. You should always root for Max. He's the man. I think that's pretty much all I got. Next up, we got John Daly on this very show and Fuzzy Zeller. They come in like a wrecking ball.

They just came in and just started talking. Like normally there's like a little bit of this and that. Like this is what we do. We're foreplay. We just like to shoot the shit. And they just sat down. John Daly lit a cigarette. And they just started, you know, ripping a room, right?

We were in a wait room. That was sort of our setup. Yeah, we were in a wait room. There are a lot of mirrors. lot of weights around and John Daly sat down, fired up a cigarette, didn't ask anybody any questions about if he could or not, and then we just started rolling. Probably 40-minute interview. I bet John Daly smoked, what, three, four cigarettes?

Yeah, maybe five. Maybe five cigarettes. Is John Daly the most as advertised person you've ever met? I think so. Yeah. Like, when you think about John Daly, you think of him wearing loud pants and, like, crazy colors, his hair's, like, all crazy. He's going to bomb dries and he's going to smoke cigarettes and, like, say, a couple

curse words and like drink a beer. Like when you meet him, is just, is that just what he's doing? He showed up. They had a bunch of his John Daly drinks with him. He was wearing Dallas Cowboys shorts. He had marble red cigarettes. He had tan lines kind of on his eyes. He'd been, you know, he's obviously been out in the sun.

He was exactly as advertised, no doubt about it. And Fuzzy Zeller too. Yep. Awesome guy. My dad was a huge Fuzzy Zeller fan growing up and whatnot. He's, of course, a master's champ, U.S. Open champ at Wingfoot. So two just unbelievably good players, very, very good friends. They riff off each other.

And we kind of just like Trent said, we kind of just hit record and they just sat down and then what happens happens. So enjoy this interview. This is a good time. Beth Page Black, ladies and gents. We were there a week ago. We previewed the entire thing. A lot of other folks did as well. Wow. He's great. He's just a tremendous talent. I got him in about 10,000. I got him in about 10,000. Maybe 12 this year for the senior events. And last week I passed him on the Charles Schwab money list. Maybe but after.

I don't know if it was a crazy night. He may have passed me. Well, that's possible, yeah. John, what the hell's going on at Walmart? We've been seeing some Walmart. Well, usually, you know, I give people the three-time chance. You know, it's happened about three times in last month. Okay.

I'm just tired of working for their staff. You know, you go in. They got 22 lines. They got one line open. There's 400 people in his Walmart. You got eight, nine people in a line trying to check out. They won't open up another one. We asked the guy, hey, can you open another one?

They go, no. You need to go self-checkout. We asked a guy, will you help us? No. So I said, well, you know, I guess you're a liberal. We just do all your work, and you get paid. What do you say to that? He didn't say nothing.

I was about to leave the buggy. It had a lot of stuff. in it, trust me. Sounds like to me, we have another happy customer. Here's the deal, if I'd have left the basket, if I go in there right now, it's probably still sitting there. Nobody's going to put it up as lazy as those guys were. You got Amazon

on them, you got all these other competitors. I mean, you just can't treat customers that way. Right. No, I agree. I'm from Arkansas. I love them, but look, you know, when you get bad customer service, you've got to report it. Yeah. So you got the RV out there. Does the RV go everywhere? Yeah. And there's much range we're getting it may turn into a boat here in a minute yeah it is absolutely poor oh that's

it's brutal out there's ugly but you know what five weeks in a row mother nature is undefeated undefeated undefeated you can't argue with her you can't talk to her at least you can't talk to her wife or your dog or your kids mother nature you can't talk to if she just wants to do what she's doing right now you just let her get it out of her system so you guys are obviously pretty tight i heard a little rumor that there was a bet about John making it to 50. He had no chance. I still don't think he's over 50 yet, but I paid the debt. I didn't pay him $150,000.

He thought I'd bet him. We did. I gave him a nice, if I had died. I did. I gave him a nice huge bottle of Vok on his birthday. Now, what more do you want on him? And guess what? It was gone that night.

Yeah, he's calling me. He said, can I get a refill? I said, don't know. John, you don't understand. Those things are expensive. I did. I even put a happy birthday on it. He did.

That's a nice thing to do. That was good. No, it's always nice to. Of course, I am retired, and it's always nice to come at her and see him once or twice a year like I do. Oh, yeah. Yeah, that's fun. We've had a lot of good time. We've had a lot of good times.

From the PGA Tour now and the Champions Tour, or whatever tour they call it now, it's been good. Yeah, I got caught up earlier. I said senior tour. I was my only slip. One slip thus far. It's what it is, though. Yeah. But senior guys playing golf.

It's the tour that the Golf Channel needs to post more. most majors won by any tour and they never do that they need to start doing that that'd be a better rebrand even with tiger winning 15 already we're still we still got more major winners on this tour than any other tours so it'd be just a good plot you know just something to make us feel a little better about ourselves as we get older right hell I'm just looking forward to a nap you know what I mean yeah but it is it is amazing the talent that these guys still have even being over 50. Yep.

It's even 60. I guess 60 would be the new 50 now. Especially longer. Even though I'm 67, feeling like 90. But yeah, it's, Bernie, yeah, the mad German, I don't know what the hell's wrong with him.

He's playing better golf. Probably the last six or seven years than he did when he was playing the tour. Probably his whole career. Yeah. But I think the long putter was a great advantage for him. Yeah. I mean, that saved him because he was,

he had the YIPIOs from very short range. And that long putter, he perfected it. I mean, he totally perfected it. And more part to him for doing it. How different his champions tour life than your PGA tour lives were? Oh, it's the same game. Same game.

Or late back in a way, though. I mean, of course, we don't play for the money that the tour plays for. But it's more of a, to me, what he taught me. He says, hey, if you can get a cart, ride, save your legs, which I do. And, you know, have fun, enjoy it. When you get in the hunt, it's all the same. any tour you want to win. The excitement.

It gets a little more serious. It's all down to the excitement and beating the best of what they do. Right. And they definitely have the best of the senior tours around the world. This is the best tour to play. So, John, you've obviously been a fan favorite for a long time. You're one of our favorite players. Did you always kind of feel when you played that you were one of the fan favorites

that you had kind of a huge following out there? No, I still don't know why people come watch me play golf. I think it might be because they don't know what the hell I'm going to do next. I don't know. I think that's definitely a big part of it. It could be a set of clubs in a pond. He didn't like to. He's telling you.

No, I am. Yeah, that's true. Yeah, that's true. Very truthful. Yeah. Nah, but it's been great. I mean, you know, just he's my guy that in 89 when I met him and Hubert, you know, they took me under their wing and we had a lot of fun together.

But Fuzzy told me a lot of things, you know, as some of the other guys did too. You know, when I screwed up, hey, at least admit you screw up and move on. Right. There's one thing in this fat body right here. There ain't no skeletons in my closet. It's all out. So if anybody wants to dig, just go to the archives and read up on it because I never lied to anybody about anything. I'll give you one little story.

We were in Columbus, Ohio, playing up at Mearfield. And he was down in the damn dumps. He was going to another divorce. Really? Well, we're blaming on a divorce. Oh, we're blaming on the lady. But we're sitting there. He's moaning and he's groaning.

and I said, get your ass in my car. He goes, what? I said, just get your ass in my car. And I went, I don't know, about a mile from the golf course, and there was a graveyard. I drove them into the graveyard. I parked in the middle of it, and I said, now, you know, your life's pretty damn good. Now, these people here who in this home here, they're not doing real well right now. Now, you can feel sorry for yourself and get your head out of your ass and start playing golf, because that's what he needed.

And he'll tell you, by golly. I'm not sure anybody's ever done it for him to him, but it worked. Yeah, it did work. It worked. He parked right out of it. Whatever defunct mode he was in, he parked out and started playing better golf. It's amazing. Sounds like a scene from moving.

What are friends for? Exactly. If you two would communicate a little bit more, maybe he might have a better relationship. We got a great relationship. You got to drive me to a fucking graveyard, see? Yeah, I know. I'll look it up. I'll look up the nearest graveyard.

We'll go have a little bit of a talk. Well, hey, that's what true friends do. I mean, that's what they do for you. You know, they got to tell you when you're not doing something right, and that's what a true friend does. You can't always pat him on the back and say it's okay, and that's what I've always admired about him, and even Hubert back in the day, too.

I mean, you know, and the kids now, they don't really mentor anybody, it seems like, you know, and I grew up mentoring, of course, Arnold, Jack, him. I love him because he played fast, and, you know, just a chance to be able to not even, not only just get my tour card, but a chance to meet all these wonderful guys and their talents and stuff,

but to say that I'm one of Fuzzy's best friends and he's one of mine is something that, you know, is pretty damn cool. Yeah. Is that a big criteria for you? Guys got to play fast. Otherwise you're not going to be buddies with it. I always never really.

It doesn't take any time at all to hit a crappy shot. And you feel so much better about it once it's over. Oh, yeah. You know, you stand back here and you think about it, and you think about it, and then you top it, you go, well, would I go through all that motion for? You could have done it in half a time. Just end up over and hit it.

And all the rest of us are thinking, Jesus Christ, man, you did all that for that show. Call for Jesus if you want. I'm sure he's going to answer you down here. So Fuzz, you won the Masters the first time you played at Augustine. I was, sir. We're just going to tell you about your career and then you, you know. Well, that was nice of you. Yeah, go ahead.

Well, we weren't sure if you remembered. We weren't sure if you remembered. I didn't have a seen the moment here. So go ahead. First, my memory for me, yeah. Don't go there, John. Don't go there.

But he won as a rookie and I won as a rookie. What, as a PGA? Yeah, but you've won the Masters as a rookie and I won the PGA as a rookie. Does it like surprise you when something like that happens? Did it surprise? No, it really didn't.

You know, surprise a lot of other people because, I mean, you know, you've got a name like Zeller, you're always at the ass end anyway, down in the alphabet. But I was a lot of people. I was playing well. And Johnny will tell you, when you're playing well, nothing surprises you.

You just go, you play the game. It's a game. We have 18 games we play every day out there. And I played 72 very nice games that week. And I had a caddy that kind of led me around there. When I tell people, he led me around like a blind dog or a dog with a seeing a man there with a blind man. He told me where to miss.

If I missed. He said, you're outs to the right. And any time I hit the grain, he'd already tell me where the put was breaking. He said, concentrate on the speed. And Augusta is all speed at the greens are. So how huge was that having them on the back for you? Pardon? How huge was that having kind of that influence?

Well, I think just having to trust on Jerry Beard to, you know, to trust him in his reeds, especially on the greens, because the greens are unbelievably fast and they're sloping. They've got a lot of slope to them. TV really doesn't do it justice for what it is in real world. how hilly it is. Oh, that too. Yeah, it's a young man's golf course. Were there any reads he told you where you go,

holy shit, I didn't see that. I didn't see it breaking as much. No, I was, trust me, the 15th hole of the last round there, I gave you the little story. The old saying is if you see water, of course I don't hit the balls for it as John does, but if you see water, you go for it

because it plays a little shorter because it's downhill. Well, I'd look at Jerry, I said, Jerry, I don't see any water. He said, gets on your tiptoes, get on your tiptoe. I said, I still don't see. He goes, go over here on this little mound and stand up and look down in that left corner. He says, we got to go.

It was 236 into a 20-mile-hour breeze. You know, with the old wood clubs. My golly, I mean, I'm sitting there going, okay, 236. All right, I see it. It's over at the Sarasen Bridge. I see just the far left-hand corner of that water. He goes, we've got to go. He says, we've got to go.

Well, you know, I'm one of those guys that I'm not real scared about losing a golf ball because I'll get him for free. so why you worry about it? So I don't get too attached to them. And I hit the prettiest little three wood I've ever hit in my life, I think, just right in the middle of the green, two-putter for a burry, and that kind of spun me on there.

You know, that got me in a position to win. And you looked, I mean, even just watching kind of that tape back, you look really common to playoff. He looked very confident. I mean, like I say, when you're playing well, you don't really worry about pressure. Right. You know, now my fruit of looms

might have a little different tell to them. But, yeah, but it was fun. You know, the excitement. of it was great. That is funny because when we interview guys, they say the same thing. When you're playing well, there's no nerves. It's when you're playing bad is when you feel like you're playing kind of mediocre in your end of hunt. Yeah. Yeah, because you know it could go at any time. Right. Yeah, that then you might, yeah, that's when your nerves kind of step in a little bit. But when you're in that zone, somebody has to beat you because you get in that zone, you're not going to beat yourself most of the time.

Yeah, I think what Tiger did this year to Masters. It was great. Tiger did not feed himself. Everybody else lost it. Yep. Right. I mean, think about it. He did everything proper. At 12, he hits it left. He didn't go to the pin. He went to the left. 15.

He hit toward the pines in the back of the green, the middle pine, right in the middle of the green. And, of course, he had a great shot at 16. But he really didn't do anything to lose it. The other guys did. Yeah, I think it was huge that he ended up being in the final group because he was able to watch everything unfold and then sort of changed. Now, Grant, he was lucky on a couple, you know, a couple T shots. The one he had. Oh, it was 11.

Yeah, it was 40. That's 45. Like it looked like an old cart path. Yeah, it's like 45 yards right of the fairway. Right. Just a little bit outside. You know what I'm saying? But he had a wide open.

I mean, it was wide open to the green. So, you know, it takes a little bit of luck to win to beat the best. But damn, what a great feeling. And you know that. Well, it's just awesome that he won. It's good for golf. And the greatest thing about that was is that night when they put all the people who said he'd never win again. Yep.

I loved it because I believe in him. I always said, no, he'll be back and he will break Nicholas's records. Yeah, you've been saying that forever. Yeah. You know, through all the down times for him, you've been like, no, no, that's Tiger Woods. He'll be there. He's too good. He's just too good with his irons and his putter.

I mean, it's probably the greatest iron player in putter that ever lived. And he's up there definitely with Nicholas on pressure putts. And Crenshaw was probably the best putter in the world. I always said if Crenshaw hit it 30 yards further, he probably would have won about 20 majors. because nobody could put it like Crenshaw. That's amazing. Yeah, this is a very pro-Tiger podcast, and there's nothing like that Sunday night.

We work with a couple people who were saying he's done, he's never going to win again. Nothing better than digging up old footage. We shoved their entire thing they've said. You guys are idiots. A couple weeks old. And poor guy like Tiger that's not one, he's probably not a top 50 in driving accuracy,

you know, to win. You know, how many times have we seen it when he was going up against Bob May in Valerama, in Louisville, the first year we played there. He hit it 50 years. yards right of the water on 18 and it hit a fan or whatever he had a perfect lie i mean just think if he ever got his driver straightened out he might win 40 or 50 majors it feels like that's kind of something that's given me a lot of confidence going forward and him is how well he's been driving it um since he kind of

i think he he decided to change shafts a little bit take maybe 15 or 20 yards off and just hit fairways and going into these courses like that page and pebble feels like if that guy can hit fairways it's like nobody could really stop him you know i mean i made a statement to The only place it could happen would be at Augusta because he knows how to play the golf course so well. And that's true. And that's where it happened. That's where he hit, boom.

So, John, you always obviously post up, take the RV down to the Hooters in Augusta. How much do you look forward to that every year? It's hard on my feet and my old knees and my body, but it's worth it. It's great seeing the fans come out. It's the best year we ever had, and it was fun. And, you know, it's just cool.

It's the one time of year that I try and just push the brand, out with the t-shirts the 8 by 10s the head covers everything we sell online um but more importantly it's a great relationship with hooters and we just have a blast but my favorite's the bikini contest of course we saw we put up on our Instagram you took a are you telling me you were in the bikini bikini content i judge it you would joe oh oh that's hard to write number down and A lighted candle. It's hard to look down and write a number down when you can't. You're just sitting there like a drooling pig.

Really? How come I've never been invited? You've been invited every time. You've never, you're gone. Maybe that's what it is. There you go. There's the answer. We'll make you a judge.

Well, I can judge from a distance. And they got your fuzzies in there. You should come support Hooters a little bit better. There you go. You should bring the jacket out there. Yeah, he's where your green jacket. I don't know if they're going to allow that. I can try.

I'll probably get stopped at the door on the way. Yeah, that's a question I can ask you. So the green jackets always stay in your locker there? Yeah, and I just bought a new one this year. Buy a new one. Well, you win one? Well, you win one. And then they kind of recycle everything.

Everybody thinks Tiger's got five jackets. Well, he's got one jacket. Just think if I'd ever won that damn thing. I'd have to get 17 different sizes. I'm going to have to get 17 different sizes. I am convinced. I got it from a 42. to 58.

If I think about this, it was 40 years ago when I weighed like I don't know, 175, 180 and shit, and I'm popping up her at 220, 2225. This baby ain't what she used to be. But the wooden hangers, I am convinced, and I keep telling, the

boys in the locker, the wooden hangers are shrinking my jackets. Okay. Who else carries it for? Tale is old as time. Who puts it on for like a year? The hangers. It's got to be the hangar.

No, I've kind of moved her up in size a little bit. It got me a little 40. What was it? It was a 48 on their size scale, a 48 short. That was perfect. Didn't have to even have it altered. It was outstanding. That's beautiful.

Yeah. What's that champion's dinner like? You get any fuzzies going out there? No, they won't allow it in there yet. We can't sneak in all? Yeah. But the colors are actually perfect. I'll give you the other story.

How often did you drink on the golf course? I never really, I never ever drank on the tour except one time. And we were playing Rivier, and I was like, I was coming off. off the back and I said oh god there's three groups on one I'm like four over par four I'm not gonna make the cut going the only beer they had and there was cores light I'd down like six something real quick went out shot three or four and on the front made the cut and it's like six that year but now I have gone to a tea time on the next morning drunk off my ass yep but I wasn't drinking on the course I've never drank on the course except that one time in the locker room

waiting for three groups at revere interesting that's very interesting yeah I wasn't sure A couple of my favorite videos are some of your antics on the course. I think Pinehurst when you hit the moving ball was one of my favorite videos. And then I think when you – Yeah, but you see, it's not a penalty now. Yeah, how did they change that? I'd tell you, if I'd have been smart enough back in the day, I could have said, hey, it was an unplayable lie.

I always carry a usually a quarter nickel to penny in my pocket because. And he always uses a lot of shot. When I won in San Diego, well, yeah, there's a reason why that is.

I want to want to say in San Diego, I had a quarter nickel and a penny in my pocket. So I always usually carry those three coins for puts. But yeah, you know, for superstitions, I don't play with a golf ball under number three or over. Okay. That coin thing seems pretty superstitious. That's kind of neat, yeah. I'm a little weird. That's okay.

Nothing wrong with that. John, how about you? Anything superstitious out there? I have superstitions for my favorite teams, like the Razorbacks, the Cowboys, the Celtics, and the St. Louis Cardo baseball. Different spot on the couch, stuff like that? Just, yeah, just not personally for myself, you know, but I do, like the Razorbacks, we've got a new coach.

Eric Musselman, and I'm, you know, I hated to see Anderson go. He's a great guy, but God bless he got picked up at St. John's because he's a great coach. but I've been texting Hunter and Coach Musselman this morning saying, hey, we've got to get the hog slobber back on the court. When Eddie Sutton brought it to Barnhill, and when Jeff Long took it off, our basketball program went to shit. It just went down the hill.

And Anderson was building it back up. And I told Coach Musselman and Hunter, please put the slober hawk back on the center court, and let's get this vibe going and get that 40 minutes of hell going back. That's great. I don't know if they'll do it, but hopefully they will. I like that. Whatever you've been doing for the Cardinals is working because they've been red hot.

lately. Yeah, me and Jericho have become pretty good friends just texting each other. And, you know, I always got to tell them since Loudmouth, we have every Major League Baseball team. So I've got to wear the Astros today for four holes because we got rained out. But we have every team. And in cities that I'm going to be in, I got to, you know, kind of wearing them. But the bottom line, that's business. My team's the San Luis Cardinals. I like that. I'm the St. Louis guy. Yeah. Oh, there you go. Yeah, from St. Charles, Missouri. So we're big. You all beat us in the second round of playoffs when I was playing for Flyers.

Is that right? in 80, I think it was 86 or 87. Okay. No, no, no, sorry, it was 83 or 84. We played St. Charles. That's amazing. We were 11-0 as the best season we'd ever had since 1957, and we came in and played Joel. My God, y'all were fast.

I love it. We were good. I mean, we kind of had a team that was really, really solid. Ray Hinch's was a great co. We had Chris Hinch's. Kurt Lugge was our quarterback. We had a really good football team. And one team canceled on us.

And we had to play Rockbridge, which is a big, big school. We were just probably a 3A school. I think they were like 5A, 6A, before 6A's really came out. And they had a week home and said, we'll play you guys. We went on my two field goals and that's how I got nicknamed the line. Really? We beat Rock Bridge 6 to nothing. Wow.

And had long hair as fat. Field goal kicker. Had the big heavy shoe with a block. Yeah, we kicked their ass and came back and everybody started calling me the lions. You're like, I'll take it. I'll take it. Lyon's a good one. Lion's a good one.

Oh, yeah. Very good. What's the most nervous you ever been on the golf course? Not anyone in the tournament. It's like a wrecking a little gambling match. Interesting. Who? Used to play some of these guys for a lot of money.

I had about a 20-footer for a lot of money. A lot of money. And canned it and walked off with a briefcase full of cash. It was pretty good. Straight to tuna. to go down to the casino. Don't know if I won or blew it, but I had a good time. You're not playing on their money.

I know what the hell you did. Well, not always. Not always. Hey. Well, I'm just saying. Buzz, what about you? Most nervous you ever been on a golf course? I can't say it.

I've ever been nervous. I know the one thing when you get, the older you get, you don't treat it. You just, you don't trust the gas pain. That's all I'm telling you. And when you feel that coming, you better hope there's a damn John around. You know what I'm saying? Yeah. That's nervous. That's embarrassing and it's nervous.

In your prime, how far did your stock seven iron go? In my prime, 165. That was it. Adrenaline stock, you were about 170. No, 165. That's as far as I could hit the 7. When you got fired up and you were winning, I'm just telling you, 165. That was max for me on that. When Norman beat him at the players, and he shot 20. 20 under Norman shot 23 or 4.

We play practice rounds together. He was in a 7-hour 175, 180. I said, you know what, Diggy? You're going to probably win this week because you're hitting the ball good, and you were hitting it longer than a scene. I was in a lot of it. That's kind of crazy. We play our 70, but we play on our misses.

We don't play on our solid, solid shots. We play on our, like, our 75% swing. Some of you guys go out and hit a 9-hour, 145, and you think you're going to hit it that far every time. Right. You don't. So you've got to think your A-Darn. Whatever you hit solid should be a club higher.

It should be a club that goes a little longer. That should be what you hit that yard. But I feel like, well, now I'm going to fucking flush one. It's going to be. Well, that's fine, but you only flush one about 1% of the time. We might flush one about 62% of the time. You know, Jack Nick has always said, if he hit it 68% solid, he usually won in a tournament. Yeah, how often do you feel like you kind of miss one?

You miss hit. About every hole. There's always one in there that doesn't quite feel right. But as long as you have your towards going right, you're directional. Yep. So really all that matters. But yeah, you don't, we don't miss that many. We don't miss too many.

I mean, we're the only ones that know. And I always tell people when I used to do a lot of exhibitions, I said, if you really want to how the players feel, just listen, listen, listen to the shot being hit. your ears are not going to lie to you. You'll know whether it's a solid shot or not. Right. Interesting. Yeah, it's a sound like, you know, my son's got it, which is awesome. He's a horrible player.

You know, like when a guy shoots a three-pointer, all you hear is that beautiful swish. That's kind of like the golf sound that, fortunately me and him have it. My son has it, and a lot of players have it. When you have that, you actually feel like you're going to hit the ball solid, probably more than a lot of people. And if you can do that, it's easy to judge your shots. it's easier to judge when you're not playing good and when you're playing really good because my max 7 hour when I'm playing good

I can hit up about 190 even still I mean it's just that positive you know a drilling that goes through you next thing you know geez that driver went a long way on that shot I usually hit it about that far and then God it went that far so it's amazing how much does that fluctuate in competition versus on a Monday practice round

you're kind of your distance we don't care on the practice rounds and the pro-ams were just getting familiar with the course and for us, we want to get to know the amateurs even more because that's the reason this tour survives. Same thing on the tour. It survives because of a little bit of the pro-am. That's mainly for charity,

and that's the good thing about the pro-ams too. It goes into our retirement, too. So, you know, our guys got voted 100% on this tour for being really great with our amateurs. I don't know what the PGA tour and web.com is, but that's a stat that kind of needs to get out because that's pretty cool. Our guys treat the amateurs.

With a lot of respect, we have fun. That's awesome. What's the craziest thing you've ever seen or heard from the gallery? I can't really say it. It was a guy in Hartford. It was the funniest thing. It was quiet, 90,000 people out there. And that old kind of Yankee,

Hey, Johnny, knocked up out of the ball. But he said it when it was so quiet, everybody could hear it on 18. And I think it was the same time when Mick was came, from me. I hold my second shot out from 120 yards. They went nuts. That's awesome. But I've had a lot of, a lot of saints. I'm sure he has too. I remember the one down to Rale. Of course, you know those fine people, Doral, God love them.

I'm playing with Huber Green. And when we got to Durrell, they always called him Herbie. Herbie? And he'd keep looking at me. He goes, did you tell these goddamn people? My name is Hubert. So this one guy We walked up on the night screen down here Playing the practice friend One guy said, Herbie How you doing Herbie? He goes, God damn it Fuzzy!

You tell him! I said his name's Hubert, sir. Oh yeah, that was pretty funny out there. But there's a lot of funny stuff that goes on out here. And there's stuff that we can't say, but You can say. I might be able to get away with it, but I doubt it. I'm not going to try it.

No. No. Because after I won a master's, they were trying to pull me around the world here like a crazy man. Right. And Huber walked up to me. He said, what are you doing to yourself? You're killing yourself. He said, no.

Remember what the word no means? By God he was right. The word no. It's just two little letters, but it means a lot. Interesting. John, what about you? Any advice that sticks out? He told me the same thing, but I didn't listen.

The money was too big. I had to go. I mean, take a money. You have to. I mean, when you have an opportunity, of course you were young. And when you have the opportunity, you know, the pasture is only green one time. You get to cut it one time, but the first cutting is always your best cutting. So why wouldn't you chase after the rest of the time?

You got a little bit. I mean, for us, it's, and we're pretty flexible out here, you know. But back in the day, you know, he was right. But the greatest advice they ever got, we're playing the Eagle Trace. It was a Honda Classic. Yeah. And we're playing. We play, we always just played seven.

at 7.30 in the morning. I'm going out. The wind's blowing 40. He's just piping everything. Everything looks so easy. He's hitting every green on nine holes. He looked at me. We're going to the range.

So what? You need to learn to hit a three-quarter golf shot. I didn't know. Now, wait, explain to him what three-quarter golf shot is. Three-quarter shot is like, you know, if you think it's a nine iron, a full nine-iron, let's choke an eight down. What the hell are you talking about? What's that do, though?

Think about it. Well, it's all that has. something to do with elevation. Now, the wind was blowing like 40 miles in a hour, and he's sitting these damn clushed straight up in here. I mean, as high as the kids hit it today, straight up in here. I told him, it says, it's not going to work. Suddenly, he said, we've got to figure a way to hit this ball down.

So we got out of the job. Huber and I were hitting these little darts, boom, right through the wind. We weren't having any problem at all. So I took him over to the range. I don't know, it didn't take us very long. I just pulled up a chair and sat there. So bring us some balls over here. No, it didn't take you long.

because you had about six drinks. It took me forever. Well, I mean, it wasn't me. He was hitting balls. You were the one doing all the work. I was just giving you the instruction of how to do it. He gave me one club an eight iron. He hit 110, hit 120, hit 130, 40, 50.

And I didn't, you know, how do you hit an eight iron 110? I figured it out pretty damn quick, though. And because of that lesson, you know, I got into it. And that's how I won the British over. I was just saying you can't win at Sanchez not knowing how to play in the way. No, you got to flight the ball down, especially in the wind. Kitted down there toward the ground because that's safe down there. Up there, there's dangers up there, especially with high winds,

which we get to play in, especially at the British Open. My golly, that wind can howl over there. Oh, yeah. Yeah, I've seen it all there. Oh, yeah. How much has the gust of change since when you won that? I thought it's been around. It's gone from right at 7,000 yards.

of like 7,600 to basically the same greens. I mean, they've softened some greens, very minute. When I mean minute, when Augusta changes things, it is done in a way that you don't even notice it. It's like they tell you. And then all of a sudden you look and you say, well, you know, it is a little softer back there. They wouldn't put a pin there, though, would they?

Oh, yeah, they will. Oh, yeah, they will. Yes, they will. Yeah, oh, yeah. Yeah. John, what's the worst golf shot you ever hit in competition? Oh, God, I've topped a couple. I never forget in Greensboro.

Was it Forests? Where we used to play? Forest Oaks. Forest Oaks. I was on that par five. It was 14, 13. Oh, yeah. Back then.

Well, the day before I drove it over the trees into the fairway and had an L-wedge in, and there was a really dead end of our face. I didn't think I'd get over it, so I pulled out of one iron. Coal topped it about 30 yards. And back then the rough's like that. Yeah. Hit a six-iron, trying to get a six-iron down there, get it on the green. I actually think I made par, but it's embarrassing.

It's a lot of people. But you got to remember that. Did you, did you? Oh, my God. I was on a rock and water or just top it? You know what? I didn't go to the range because I'm a little late to my tea time off 10. I'm already in last place, so I didn't.

So I just thought, you know, I got a one-iron hybrid now. Back then it was a one-iron blade. I cold topped it and the marshal goes looks at Peter where'd that go and Peter goes oh it went 40 yards out of bounds he just missed it a little bit

and I went up and dropped it up and went right in the water at the top well he went about 50 yards well you made good contact with it then oh 50 yards I almost made par yeah that's like being a little pregnant you didn't do it

no but hey oh you isn't I made a good boge that's good that's great that's great about you? Any just stunningly bad shot? Under the heat of the gun? My worst shot was

that's number 17 at Bay Hill back in 1985. I'm not going to lie to you. It was a cold outbladed shank three iron. This gentleman was standing right of the green down there, but it had some elevation to it. I mean, it was pretty when I shanked it. It went

up and it was fluttering over like a wounded duck. I'd hit some ball-headed guy in the head, and he kicked back in the water. So I'm walking down. Did he apologize? I apologize. Are you kidding? I'm like, God, I hope I didn't kill you. He goes, it wasn't going hard enough.

I said, no, no, I know that. And then somebody walked up, oh, you really got a shitty break there? I said, what do you mean a shitty break? This man is standing 40 yards right of the green. Should have been safe as hell. Because I wasn't aiming there. I was aiming to the left front, left edge. Because the wind was halen. And I shanked

it. You know, you don't talk to shanks. You'd like to hide after you shake one, but you don't talk to him. And hit the guy in the head went in the water. And I ended up losing to Lauren Roberts, I think it was by Warren. I pardoned it. Got Lauren

Roberts' first victory. And I never got to get well card or anything from him. That really pissed me all. And Lauren's a good guy. Oh, I know. He's a nice person. No Christmas card? Nothing. We can get Bill Dilley. Thank you for shanking that T-8. T-Shout at 17. He probably need to put a note

his locker saying, hey, where's my thing? Yeah, I know. But, I've hit some real ugly ones. I'm not going to lie to you. We all have. I got paired with Nicholas, and I was so nervous. At Durrell one time. First of all, I kill this drive. I'm 50 yards ahead of it. And, you know, I think

it's still a part five. One, at Durrell, I don't know, Trump. I think it is. So I get up there and waiting on him, and I think he's got like a four-iron. Colshank's at 20 yards into the deep rough. Okay? So he hits his third shot like this. I got like eight on him.

He hit it 20 feet. He makes Bertie a three putt. Fair game, isn't it? Yeah. Wow, but that's how Nicholas is mine. You know, you could just see, you know, this is later in his career. I mean, this was back in the middle, middle 90s, maybe early 90s, and I'm going, wow. That's crazy.

What's the rowdiest crowds you've ever experienced on the golf course? Well, Hartford was one of them. They were great. Memphis, when I got in a hunt, was awesome. PGA in 91 was just crazy. San Diego in 04 was nuts. Well, you know why the PGA in 901. You had such an advantage over everybody at that golf course.

That Crooked stick. How? What I mean? What hell are you talking about? I'm sitting back there hitting my driver, and I'm shooting into a little 20-yard area. Right. Bubba over here, he's rolling out,

and right at the way Crookest Stick was like, out that year. The fairways kind of went out beyond the bunkers out to like 60 yards out there. Well, he never saw those bunkers that I had to play around. Hell, he just blow it right up and over it. What is it down the 14th hole?

Oh, yeah. Fourteenth hole. A dog lake to the left of the creek that runs on the left side there. Well, I had to shoot away from wherever the green was. Yeah. Oh, yeah. You know why? Because I couldn't carry all the crap. Carrey was only 295.

He just... Nothing to it. Nothing to it. He would take that damn driver and just carry it all up and hit like a nine-iron wedge, whatever it was, into the hole. And I'm back on rifling a one-arm and two-arm into the same hole. Now, who do you like in this game? Yeah.

But it was great, though. It was a great victory for him. I mean, that was... I mean, everything you went through to get to it, you know, overnight driving up there. Yeah. Take a woozy, weezy? Was that what? Weezy?

Hmm? The caddy, wheezy. Oh, no. No, that was Nick Price's catty. Well, weezy. Wasn't it? No, he just passed away five years ago. Yeah, yeah.

I know. Jesus, I just went Blake now. He was awesome, too. I think it was wheezy. Botee was the one I wanted with British. It wasn't Weezy. No? No, no.

It might have been Weezy. Well, that doesn't make any difference, but... God, I can't believe I mean. We'll call it Weezy for this show. They almost gave us a two-shot penalty, because they said he lined the pin up, put the pin on the ground when he's reading one of my puts, which was total BS.

Well, they tried to call you on that? I feel so ashamed not knowing my caddy's name than we won. I'm thinking I feel so ashamed. I'll take care of you. Great guy. I know who was. It wasn't wheezy. It was, too.

And he went on to win three or four majors after that. And the reason I got in the PGA was because Nick Price's wife, Sue, was having a baby. So he watched the baby being born, and I stole his, well, he told me if I could use his cat, yeah, no problem. I wanted to keep him. No. But Nick, although he got me the position to where I could win that major, well, he won four, three or four after that. because, you know, hey, I got him started. Squeaky knew how to win a major then.

Squeaky, he knew how to just caddy. He was a good caddy. He was a very good caddy. So we've got the PGA coming up, Beth Page, where we obviously, we live in New York, New York fans and all that. Buzz, you want to major in the New York area? Are they going to be pissed? I'm driving a cart in the PGA.

You get a cart at the PGA? Yeah. Oh, hell yeah. This got to prove yesterday. That's great. That is awesome. Breaking news. That is great.

It's raining, wind right in her face, and I'm playing with Nick Falto. And he looks at Finney, he goes, I've got to hit it in the bloody walkway. You know the little walkway?

Yep. Because you couldn't get to the fairway. Yeah, it was like $2.70 to carry. $2.70 to carry to the fairway. I barely got it to the fairway. Corey Pavin was playing there, and I said, well, he's got absolutely no chance in hell. No. I mean, Corey.

You know, Corey can dial it up with the driver now. He can hit a left, right, right left. Right. It ain't carrying that far. As far as getting some elevation and carrying it that far, there's no chance in hell. That's happening. Yeah, the 10th. It's a long track.

But, you know, the PGA, they make the courses. They always have. I think we played back that day was the U.S. Open. Fairways were like this. But it'll be fun. Yeah, we're really looking forward to it. Well, gentlemen, we really appreciate the time. There's been a lot of fun.
