Starting point is 00:00:00 Hey, 4Play listeners, you can find us every Tuesday and Thursday on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or YouTube. Prime members can listen ad-free on Amazon Music. Chevy is called The Heartbeat of America for a reason they got something for everyone. We got a lovely show today, so much so that kids actually compliments our takes. Kids compliments our takes at some point, which is extremely rare for us. We got Trent Still in London. Frankie's back from a little Poconos vacation. We got Liv.
Starting point is 00:00:27 We got discussions over players. incentives, regrets. We got all kinds of Rider Cup talk from Jim Fierich doing a press conference. That just throws us into a little bit of a little bit of a tizzy about the future and where to go. It's all brought to you by Chevy, gentlemen, which is the heartbeat of America. Chevrolet American cars driving from coast to coast, north and south. We'll be on the road here, a ton in the fall. I got a bunch of pop-punk shows going on, so I'll be getting in big Chevys with a lot of equipment.
Starting point is 00:00:56 they really can house whatever you'd like, whether it be stuff for a travel, if you're going with your family for a vacation, if you're packing up for a concert, if you're packing up for a golf trip, all these different types of the tracks, the traverse, the equinox, the Suburbans, the list goes on and on. Goes on and on. We've got a lot of great options. And look, Chevy's been doing it for a century. So they know what they're doing.
Starting point is 00:01:16 They've been representing that bow tie in the United States of America for a long, long, long time. They got great options on their SUV lineup. You could have plenty of spacious room in the back for all of your things, golf clubs, camera equipment, families, whatever it might be, the traverse, the equinox, the tracks, each loaded with that great tech that keeps everything in sync from road trip music to long haul navigation. Check out that lineup at Chevy.com.
Starting point is 00:01:41 Once again, that is Chevy.com. Oh, Rick. What's that my brother? I got a buddy who struggles with that shot. A lot of his name's Frankie Barrelli. So the guys actually gave him a nickname of Butter Nyes, He always knives it across the green. Brok 100.
Starting point is 00:01:58 Now you've got to break 90. We appreciate what you guys do for golf. It's been really cool. Thank you. You're making it cool. We appreciate it. I was like, hey, Phil, you only fucking 29, 99. And he grabs 100.
Starting point is 00:02:08 He's like, yeah, I won 90,000 at these yesterday. He goes, take 100 and you go, fuck yourself. What? What are you guys hitting? It's ain't a hobby. Foreplay, presented by Barstool Sports. We got the entire gang back. we've got Ryan Richard behind the scenes so we'll thank him off the top we got Frankie has returned
Starting point is 00:02:28 Kiz is in a very cool room per usual and we have got Trent in his same spot coming off yet another huge huge English breakfast with an American flag I'm glad you got that photograph Trent that made me laugh out loud when it's yeah because I wanted people to see first of all that I was telling the truth and for them to get a visual on just an American flag on a tiny little toothbook toothpick sticking out of pancake breakfast and yeah they they profiled me which is fine but they profiled me accurately you know incredibly accurately uh did you go back to the same breakfast join and got the same order again no i have not gone back to that place again no i went this morning i went to buckingham palace to watch the changing of the guard but it rained and they didn't do it oh riggs and i were
Starting point is 00:03:20 saying before we started like what kind of guards you know it's if rain you can get out rain they can't cancel that thing due to rain you're in england you're in the uk it rains every day there and they're supposed to be guarding i you know if you're like uh an opposing threat you just wait for bad weather and you can just get by the guards it's unacceptable you just got to see if there's a couple cells rolling in you're in probably you got like a good meteorologist in your crew you're it's easy to I do want to say, I think, and I touched on it last episode where I was like, I was probably being a little overly negative about London just because that's what we kind of do on the show. I've had a lovely time. It's an incredible city.
Starting point is 00:04:01 And like everything else is a plus top one. But there's just little things that make me laugh. And I've been pointing those out on these shows. I was thinking just now, I'm at my sister's beach house with her husband. She actually just landed in London with my mom. They've been over there for like 10 days. So you saw Billy Jean King. next you're going to see my sister, my mom.
Starting point is 00:04:22 I know it. You're just going to run into them randomly today. And the only reason I brought up was my sister just told me it was raining and freezing there. So probably why they didn't have the Buckingham Palace thing. We've had overall good weather today is the first very rainy day. Although rainy London is delightful as well. It's a nice aesthetic, if you will. Umbrellas, right?
Starting point is 00:04:43 There's a lot of cool umbrellas with the red buses and telephone booze. It feels like pretty natural experience out there. Very much so. It's New York City, but it's just got so much more history. It is New York City. That's probably my main takeaway is it's just like New York City. But you're right. It's older.
Starting point is 00:05:00 The architecture is older. It's definitely got more history. But when I'm walking around, I feel like I'm in New York City for sure. Yeah. A lot of energy. A lot of energy. Tons. Even on, I mean, I've been here Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, which not the weekend.
Starting point is 00:05:14 And every restaurant's full, every bar is full. People standing on the street drinking pints. Like it's a, it's a good energy city. You check out that, that, uh, Indian place yet? No, I haven't gone there yet. I've hit a couple of, um, they've got such interesting like food types. Like I went to a North African restaurant. This place, the barbary.
Starting point is 00:05:37 That was fantastic 10 out of 10. It's a, it's a small place, not a lot of table seating at all, almost none. And it's just a U shaped bar with a grill in the middle. And they make all these. delicious like tapas and dips and chicken and lamb and you just sort of order off this menu and you keep going back for more that place was a 10 out of 10. What kind of food is North African? It was just like there was like a hummus dip.
Starting point is 00:06:06 Moroccan. Yeah, I would I would, it leans towards Moroccan and like really like, uh, good breads that you dip into the sauces. It was just like the flavor pal was so different than anything that I've ever had. it's just like a different level of spices and not in like a spicy way just like the flavors are types that you you wouldn't get at any other sort of like Italian restaurant or a French restaurant it's very specific spice palette I think it's very good yeah the the food is always
Starting point is 00:06:37 been an interesting topic I feel like when you talk about when people talk about London obviously even the UK in general but like New York is known for just incredible food I feel like Mexico city. I feel like talked about phenomenal food. London, I feel like you get a little bit of mixed reviews on the food. Yeah, and I wanted to try that Indian place. I just don't know if I'm going to have enough time, but, and then I went to a place
Starting point is 00:06:58 last night, Kudu, very good as well. So there, I mean, there's no end to the amount of good of restaurants in London, so it's hard to hit a bunch of them while you're here, but it's good. Yeah. I remember I had a buddy moved over there right after college, and
Starting point is 00:07:14 his big takeaway was how the culture of like drinking every day is very different to the point of like, I guess he would say, you know, they'd work all morning, go for like a late lunch at the pub and everybody would have a handful of beers at the pub and then work would be like done for the day. And then they wouldn't stay out late, but they would just have a couple drinks at the pub. People would kind of go back to the office, not really do anything, go to bed at a decent hour, but the pub and just having like beers on a Tuesday workday was pretty normal where I don't think we do a ton of that here.
Starting point is 00:07:51 Yeah, you can tell even when you're walking by the pubs like yesterday it was 2 p.m. or whatever and even when you're walking by you can tell it's not tourists who are there. It's locals. It's guys in very nice business attire, but then there's football uniforms, there's soccer uniforms, all that stuff. It's, it seems like it's very much a part of the culture to just drink on a weekday, which is fine with me. But it does seem like it's far more like that here than it is over in New York City and America.
Starting point is 00:08:19 Yeah. All right. We can move on a little bit. We got other, speaking of sports, you know, my guy, Messi played in his final game for Argentina that came across my desk last night. One thing I want to note, I know Trent, I think they, indeed are great friends in Adidas. I think they sent you a Messi jersey this past summer. They actually sent me one, too, that I didn't get because we were on the road so much until after the World Cup was over. So I got home and it was like, Messi's just done and the World Cup's done.
Starting point is 00:08:45 So I never really got to wear it or flaunt it. But I saw a little bit last night. Couldn't help with those tributes. I'm a big messy guys. You folks know, I rock the messy shoes all summer long. Our guy Jared behind the scenes have been rocking the messies every time we've been filming. I feel like for the last like three months, they're incredible pairs of boots, football boots. But shout out to Messi.
Starting point is 00:09:05 And then, you know, another thing in the sports world is I'd be remiss if we didn't bring up the Islanders Rangers game last. night, which I've got a couple complaints about. Why the hell was Varlam? I'm starting this thing and not Sorok. I, you know, I've got Sorokin of my fantasy. I know there's been injury, even if it wasn't Sorokin. Like, Varlamov hadn't played like two years, which I don't understand, Frankie. I'm sure you're more mad about this than I am, but I couldn't figure out for the life
Starting point is 00:09:32 of me. It's your biggest rival. It's the Rangers across the city. And he's had an unbelievable start and they didn't play him last night. Yeah, I made no sense. I don't know. The schedule has been weird. The Island Ranger game absolutely sent me into a tizzy last night.
Starting point is 00:09:44 Obviously, I want to win every single Ranger game. Chafers never lost against the Rangers in his career. They swept them last year. So going into that game, Varlamov has a great story. I mean, he had double knee replacement at the age of 36 or 37. Now he's 38 and has returned as a goal. He's the second oldest goalie in the league. Islanders have gone on pretty good runs with them.
Starting point is 00:10:07 He was a major, major part of them getting in the Eastern Conference finals. him and Seroquin splitting time, two Russian goalies, great chemistry in the net in the goalie room as well. And we knew that he was going to be the backup this year. He has an amazing comeback, right? They're calling it like a modern medicine marvel, the fact that a goaltender can return from double knee replacement and play in the NHL.
Starting point is 00:10:32 The only problem that I have is that the schedule wasn't advantageous for us to have his first game be at Madison Square Garden against the New York Rangers. like we've only played two games leading up to that. The Rangers have played four. Like they're kind of in their mode. They're kind of moving. They have they have momentum.
Starting point is 00:10:47 They've played a couple of home games. The Islanders have had one game on the road. They had one game at home. They've had four days off. Like there's just a lot going on right now with the schedule. It's very strange. And to throw him out there while Sorokin just had a shutout the other night, to me was a very weird move to reintroduce him in the NHL.
Starting point is 00:11:02 Like his first NHL game in two years, I think they said, right? By the way, first shot went in. So it's just like, holy smoke, like first shot he saw in, in three seven hundred days went right over his shoulder it was like hold on now so yeah i'm not going to blame it on him because he ended up making some big saves towards the end the island just end up tying the game and the third period did not go the way they wanted i think that's just they're not getting their legs going to start the season but it's going to be a battle of a season for the islanders i think they're in this weird mode right now where they're in a transition period
Starting point is 00:11:30 they're about to become way younger and they're in that mode where it's like you've got veterans you might be slower than you want to be but you got these young guys that just aren't ready yet to come up and maybe one, two years, everyone kind of is up at the same time, all these rookies. So we'll see. I don't like losing to the Rangers, though. I don't, you know, my father-in-law is sending weird text messages that he knows I see, send him to Hannah. He'll send him.
Starting point is 00:11:52 He'll be like, he'll be like, oh, because like I said that the Islanders get a little oar now. They give out an oar and they say, who's going to row the boat up the stream for the player of the game. And I looked over Hannah's shoulder and Don wrote, the Islanders sailing upstream. or list tonight or something like that and i was just like you know mother that boy don't he didn't say it to me you know he knew i'd see it though he said it to you that was said to you you know like that's direct yeah islanders traveling up north with no with no oars i don't know what that fucking means man yeah it doesn't have to when you're one it doesn't
Starting point is 00:12:30 i love the varlamov story i just was blown away when i saw that of all the times you could get this guy back out there. It's at Madison Square Garden. I was just, I couldn't believe it. And then like you said, the shots were like six nothing Islanders. And then Rangers don't even really get a good chance. It was like that quick little kind of turnover of shot from like
Starting point is 00:12:50 the corner that goes right in. I was like oh fuck. But I do love the Varlamov story. I'm playing the tandem of Sorokin and Varlamov all year, my fantasy team. So I would be in Lopsteck with the Lop lockstep with the New York Highlanders this year. I'm rooting with you. I love that. I opened my
Starting point is 00:13:10 sports apps and did some light scrolling just to see what happened after I went to sleep and I saw that score and I said, I know what we're going to start the podcast. Right off top of my I was like, Frankie is going to be pissed about this score. I didn't watch one second of the game, but I saw the final. It was like, I can't wait to hear his rant about the islanders. Well, they were down to nothing. Varlamma was giving up goals every time a puck went by him. and it's like you know he had to see pucks go by his face in 700 days and then they tied it up and I started get like real I started sending out tweets oh like that's when they when they score two in a row I'm like uh-oh I started getting I was taking screenshots of barlama with this crazy hair ready to tweet when
Starting point is 00:13:51 they won like this guy's in played in six years you lost to him I had it already I'm not going to place blame on my son but every time I put Frankie boy in an island of jersey they were like oh and six I got to find another I got to find another outfit for him Maybe just a shirt There's a shirzy or something yeah Yeah I think you got to just grind your way through it now
Starting point is 00:14:12 Like they're gonna win a game at some point Every time I post like game day And he's in the jersey's all cute Devastation L brought him to his first game I think it was against the Utah mammoth last year His first ever any Jell game They lost 8 nothing on like a Saturday matinee
Starting point is 00:14:26 Mm-mm He was banging on the glass You didn't even see a goal they didn't lose in his mind no you oh and then we brought him in the locker room and he puked on the floor in the locker room amazing he's a puker yeah he is yeah dude we fucking i don't know if you guys talk about the reason i wasn't on the show last week is because or last episode is because we were coming back from woodlock springs amazing place woodlock pines Trent we always go there and we film there i brought the family there which was an amazing time uh if you're on the east coast
Starting point is 00:15:00 it is the ultimate family vacation. It's so much fun. But driving back, there's some windy roads. You would know like that last 10 miles, there's like 30 minutes like kind of in the Pocono mountains of just going through all these weaving. And you're getting to this camp destination in the middle of nowhere. And we were driving there.
Starting point is 00:15:21 And he was doing all right. He definitely gets motion sickness. And we don't know if it's like you're not getting air on your face. You know when you're on a plane, you don't get air directly on your face. and you're going through turbulence and you start to get that hot feeling. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:15:32 Like cars are weird because there's no vents coming. He's rear facing, right? So he's staring out the back of the car. All right, you turn the car seat towards the back. So, like, there's no air hitting your face ever. It's all, like, going from front to back.
Starting point is 00:15:46 Like, there's no vents facing from the ceiling back towards him. So, like, we didn't have a fan set up or anything. We never really thought of it. So, like, he's getting hot probably. He's not getting any air. We're going through these windy roads. And then we have this mirror that's got to be throwing you off if you get motion sick.
Starting point is 00:16:00 We're like the mirror. We can see him through our mirror on his mirror. And that's got, that's just flashing lights and flash and movement. So all of a sudden, my, my mother-in-law was in the back and he just started, he'll just like puke.
Starting point is 00:16:12 And then he won't even cry. He'll just puke. And then it's just laugh and it's just all over him. And then he'll look at her again. He'll puke again. He'll just keep going. And we're like, holy smokes.
Starting point is 00:16:22 And it's fucking stressful. So on the way home when you guys were recording the pod, I thought I'd be home four hours earlier than I was. But we made stops. We just didn't want him to puke again. So we made stops for the three and a half hour drive. Every hour we took like 30 minutes. We went to a park.
Starting point is 00:16:37 He ran around. I don't know that we'll have to do that every single time because he was fine on this one. But it was an interesting drive up to Woodlock. It's just puke is like something you don't really want to be dealing with all the time. No. No. Anything to avoid puke, I think is probably worth it. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:16:50 You know. There is something disorienting about like when I take the Long Island Railroad, I have to be sitting in the direction that I'm going. like when something is pulling you essentially that even gives me a 37 year old man I feel like I'm going to be sick so I don't know if there's something to do with that certainly the mirror probably isn't helping but yeah it throw up all over the car
Starting point is 00:17:10 is never a good situation I remember we uh we had that on the bus in Ireland we had like a bunch of you guys refused to sit backwards yeah I definitely get motion sickness I mean I get sick on rides like if I go on a 3D ride at Disney or something that'll send me off for weeks
Starting point is 00:17:27 um just who I am. I'm just a pretty weak. I'm a pretty weak individual. This is just the part of the podcast where we describe how weak we are. Kids, you got anything? How weak? I don't know. Sometimes you guys just make me really, really laugh when you say things like a 3D ride will set me off for weeks. But you do got to give Frankie boys some drama me and going through the mountains. I'm three kids in. I've got a little experience and my little guy going to my mountain house has thrown up quite a few times. And you know, ever know when it's coming and they're the same way.
Starting point is 00:18:01 It's just happy as a clam and then just throws up everywhere. And you're like, what just happened? But Dramamine, if you can, they make little chewables for the kids, they can chew them up and no more throwing up. I got to do something. And we heard it too. He went like, like the first one. He was just holding in.
Starting point is 00:18:16 I was like, what was that? My mother-in-law's like, she kept saying, it's fine. We're all fine back here. You hear a waterfall over her hand. She's like, we're all good. You look back. She's covered. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:18:27 Dude, those mountain drives are not easy. anyone we did it yeah i mean kids just mentioned it but when we drove uh up to kids's mountain house when we went out there and filmed yeah that last 15 to 20 minutes is like all right serious yeah you're windy it's it's it's it's it's really you know you're tucked in there so i get it man i really then the stress and i'm sure kids is one of these mountain drivers of like the locals that's why want to book it through god forbid you're in front of one of these people the stress you have of like heaping up with you know the 45 mile an hour turns and stuff.
Starting point is 00:19:00 I just want to go easy, man. I want to get there. I've never gone that route in my life. Let me just go. Go around me then if you want to risk your life. Mountain driving is not for the week, dude. Kis knows what he's doing. I'm going fast.
Starting point is 00:19:13 Yeah. He's whipping that thing. Trent row with me to go to dinner one night. We had to ride down just a little bit. And he's just like, dude, you're just half on the phone, driving with your knee doing 50 miles an hour. And he's like gripping those shit handle the entire time. 100%.
Starting point is 00:19:27 I just like, I want to be alive to try cherry wine. Oh, that's what I want to be alive. Cheer wine. Kids, end of the month, I'm coming down by, I'm coming down to Georgia for like a quick buddy's trip down at this place called the fall line. You heard about this place? Yeah, man.
Starting point is 00:19:42 Is this a good spot? Aries management did that. I haven't been, but I hear it's incredible. Where is that in conjunction with like where you are? Is that way west of me? It's a long drive for me, four hours probably. Yeah. I'm excited for that.
Starting point is 00:19:57 I heard it's incredible. It's kind of the same old model of stay in play, though, I believe, where you kind of go lunch to lunch or if you stay two days. But I think they have multiple courses, right? I think they have multiple, yeah. One of them was rated like the best new course in America. Yeah. The best new private experience in America. Yeah, oh yeah.
Starting point is 00:20:14 You got to look this place up, the fall line. It looks unbelievable. I'm very excited to do that. The fall line. Look at the photos of this place. Everyone I've talked to that has been has said it's an incredible experience. I think you just drive side by side. like, you know, Polaris or Kawasaki side by size.
Starting point is 00:20:31 It's not like you check in. They take your stuff, your clubs, and then they throw your stuff in a side by side. And they're like, hey, Frankie, you're in this village and this thing. You go down this road and you just park your Polaris at your cabin. Yeah, I mean, it's going to be a hell of an experience. Yeah, look at this spot. You got to be.
Starting point is 00:20:48 I don't know how much more I can say. I'm going to get a feel for it. That's right. I was going to be going with somebody to this place. I'm looking at what I'm looking at. It's no. I'm on. It's a, it's a.
Starting point is 00:20:58 crazy trip. I don't know how much more I can say about it. I'm going on there if I'm allowed to talk about like who's going and like what this is. But like I've been put on a couple of group texts with some hilarious names of like, hey, we're on this flight out of New York if you guys want to get on it. Like, and I've tagged whatever these people and I'm like, oh, these are just movie stars of movies that I've seen.
Starting point is 00:21:19 I really enjoy these movies like some of my favorite movies of all time that they're just hopping on the plane sitting in 14C like Delta Comfort. Really, really funny. of what's going on. I'm like, I'll grab a car. Like, we're just going to get like a, like a car service here,
Starting point is 00:21:32 like with a bunch of celebrities. I'm like, okay. Like, you don't want me to. I know, I have an Emerald Club for national. I can get an equinox. I can go get an equinox.
Starting point is 00:21:43 Unreal. Yeah, that'll be fun. That's at the end of the month. But hopefully I'll be able to share more of it. It's an unbelievable. I can't wait to play this place. This episode is brought to you by Cracken,
Starting point is 00:21:57 the official crypto trading platform of Barstool Sports. All right. Cracken has a hollow. promotion going, okay? One person is winning 1,000 S-O-L. That is 1,000 soul. That's around $15,000 at current prices, which is roughly enough money to buy a new driver every time you convince someone yourself or anyone that the driver is the problem. Here's the deal. Starting October 1st, which has already occurred, you enroll through the Cracken app, Cracken Pro app, or Cracken Pro Web. Then it's simple for every $1 you on an eligible trade equals one entry.
Starting point is 00:22:36 So if you trade $100, you get 100 entries, if you trade $10,000, you get $10,000 entries. There's a million entry cap, and it doesn't matter whether you're using Cracken or Crackett Pro. Same entry pool, same drawing, one winner. The whole thing runs through Halloween, which October 31st. And then again, one person wins 1,000,
Starting point is 00:22:56 S-O-L, which is worth about 115K at the current situation. You know, what an interesting relationship we had with Crack in this summer there, Kevin Kisner, you know. Yeah, we sure did. You know, I don't think you followed all the rules and somehow slipped out a win in our little sneaky contest. Well, controversy now. Wow. But who wouldn't want to sign up to have a chance to win this prize? 115K current value.
Starting point is 00:23:22 I'm in. I might even sign up and see if I can really show you what my Cracking app is up to after I get this win. So, baby. It's at $116 bucks right now. So yeah, you would be cruising on that. I know.
Starting point is 00:23:34 The Cracken, Halloween, trading, sweepstakes, 1,000 SOL, one winner. Terms apply. No purchase necessary.
Starting point is 00:23:44 Not investment advice. Crypto trading involves risk of loss and is offered to U.S. customers through Payward Interactive Incorporated view legal disclosures at crackin.com
Starting point is 00:23:53 slash legal slash disclosures. All right, folks. We are about to get into some live take, some spicy for play takes. We know you all love those, especially when we get all political on which side of live we like and what we don't like. But in classic for play fashion, the second we hit stop recording and Kevin Kisner went
Starting point is 00:24:16 out on his vacation in Kiowa Island and Riggs Barso went to go play golf with his dad at Pioneers. And Trent went to go Gallivant in London. And I sat here and I changed my outfit. By the way, that's an issue that I have. My wife thinks I'm a bizarre human being with how often I'm changing hoodies and hats. She's like, you change outfits five times a day. That's something I got to deal with.
Starting point is 00:24:33 all right and and and and and basically in four play fashion as we did all that john rom which we're about to talk about in depth comes out and says you know what live i'm out of here john rom has reviewed the proposed terms of live 2.0 and has found them unacceptable and will not participate this was told by his lawyer at a u.s bankruptcy court hearing in new jersey on today october 7th 2026 the sides are working on a separation agreement with a target of mid-October to early November. This is a massive setback for live. We get into all of this and we actually touch on does John Rahm regret going over to live and where was his head at? And I had some takes about Bryson. And we really do. I think a lot of stuff we said is Evergreen so it doesn't really affect this news. But we had to come on here and say
Starting point is 00:25:24 what happened because that's just such foreplay for us to end the show and the biggest news coming out of live happens right when we end it. So we're going to get back to the show. This is huge news in the world of golf. John Rom out. What does that mean for Live 2.0? We will get more into that in next week's show. Please have a blessed rest of the show and weekend. We love you all. All right. Let's get into some golf talk. Believe it or not here in early October, we do have some big news in the golf world. Live golf 2.0 has really kind of reached an interesting point this week. The BC partners folks, which have been the proposed new investors into this new version of Live, made a couple little headlines over the last 24, 48 hours. I would say
Starting point is 00:26:16 big one is, which doesn't seem like much, but it kind of is, is that there was, I believe, like approval and commitment of $4 million investment. Now, again, that seems like nothing. They were playing for $4 million was first place prize in live golf tournaments up until a month ago or whatever the hell that was. However, there are $300 million proposal that this firm has had was really just a proposal versus putting $4 million down is $4 million. So that's actually a real legitimate investment. That's sort of a stepping stone, the first level of approval from bankruptcy court and all that to getting this potentially done and turning it into a real thing. Now, Another interesting part of this entire thing is that their proposal is allowed to and is currently
Starting point is 00:27:06 hinging on the level of commitment from the top players. And they have extended that commitment window to October 25th, I believe is the latest that we have. So what all that boils down to is that this new investment firm and if LiveGolf 2.0, what it's going to look like and if it's really going to happen and occur. is actually going to happen in the next, like, couple weeks based upon John Rom, Bryson DeShambo, Cam Smith, Joaquin Neiman, all the big names, essentially deciding what to do with their future. And then in that time and yesterday as well, we had Sergio Garcia. He was ruled in court that he was basically allowed to violate, terminate his live golf contract.
Starting point is 00:27:54 That's interesting because it'll be interesting to see where Sergio decides to go. mean that Sergio's definitely going to live leave live um but it means he's you know legally allowed to based on his situation everybody's situation is a little bit different but it does kind of set the precedent for we heard john rom a lot of times this year talking about how contractually he's just like obligated to be with live he talks about i'm not really an agent whatever my agents did like i'm contractually a live person so whatever happens with live i'm pretty much going to be there. Is there now a precedent that if the courts are ruling that Live golf contracts are able to be violated because Liv didn't live up to their end or the PIF didn't live up to
Starting point is 00:28:36 there in. This Sergio could be one of the early dominoes in that. But regardless, in the next couple weeks, it sounds like gentlemen, we're going to have kind of really interesting information rolling out on the potential future of Live at all. Because if you, if this window, is real and they stick to it, which they're going to have to stick to a deadline at some point, then by October 25th, it's already October 7th. They're just going to either need to know or not, this investment firm, the BC partners, on whether the big names are in, because if they're not in, then you're essentially buying nothing, which you don't want to be buying nothing.
Starting point is 00:29:17 So it feels like in the next 14 to 18 days, we could actually find out some pretty damn information interesting information from from live golf yeah that's a lot for me to all understand there but um i'm curious to find out exactly what all happens there i i read the sergio thing is like he finally wants out he wants to go do whatever play the dp world tour i have some inside information that he just wants to go back and play that tour uh but i have no idea if live 2.0 comes back what could they possibly play for that would entice these guys to play for it other than them contractually obligated to do it. Right.
Starting point is 00:29:57 That's sort of what it seems like to me. Yeah. It just feels, I don't know. I don't know. I just, I can't get a feel that it's actually going to happen. Yeah. And like the $4 million thing,
Starting point is 00:30:07 it is $4 million. But in the grand scheme of live, it kind of feels like a Dr. evil number when you hear it after all of the stuff, the PIF where it was like, the faucets open and it's an endless amount. Whatever you guys want, we're pouring into this thing.
Starting point is 00:30:21 And for them to then, like now they're like $4 million. All right. we're getting part of that investment. And I think when I read about this originally, when it comes to the big guys committing or not committing, they hold the larger portion or percentage of how they can get over the threshold to unlock the rest of the investment.
Starting point is 00:30:39 So like you said, Riggs, it's going to be an interesting couple of weeks. If those guys don't jump, I think this thing is just going to be dead. And I don't see, and I don't know anything about John Rom or Bryson or like the inner workings of what they want to do. But I can't imagine.
Starting point is 00:30:53 and this is a thing that they want. And if the flip side of that, they're like, all right, if we don't commit, then we're just, maybe we're out of these contracts and we can all go back to doing whatever we want. It just doesn't seem like something that's going to hold up. And if the 25th comes and goes and nobody commits,
Starting point is 00:31:08 I'm very curious. I think this thing was just going to be done. Well, the interesting side of it will be like, do whatever they want, what is that? What is do whatever you want? Like, do you want to play golf and you can't play the DJA tour? What is do whatever you want? Is it like go play at the fall line with Frankie Borelli on it?
Starting point is 00:31:25 You know what I mean? Like what is golf to them then? If they have no place to call home, that might be their only option. So I bet you over these next two weeks, these guys have to really commit to either joining up on these like other world leagues like you're saying, the DP World Tour, or other international tours or just try and make live be what they always thought it was going to be. I don't think they're coming back to PGA tour. Look, the easiest way to get back to the PGA tour is through the D.P. World Tour.
Starting point is 00:31:55 I mean, we saw that with Patrick Reed. So in my opinion, the PGA Tour is going to, you know, they did their whole deal where they let those guys figure out if they wanted to come back to four or five. They wanted to come back. Brooks was basically the only one that took them up. But I would imagine that if Liv goes away, the tour owns part of the DP World Media Productions. They're going to send those guys back to the DP World Tour through some new agreement. And that's how they're going to end up getting their access back to the PG&T.
Starting point is 00:32:21 It's kind of like you suffered a year. You go play over there. If you finish in the top 10, we'll welcome you back. Right, which would be, you know, if you are these guys, you're at best a year away from being able to play in a PGA tour event. And that is if you decide today and you do everything right and the PGA tour doesn't decide to make it harder for you. And you got to play well. I mean, it's the easiest way, but you still got to play well. You still got to play really well.
Starting point is 00:32:48 So that is if a lot goes well. And the other, you know, from what they've proposed, it looks like 52 and a half percent of LiveGolf 2.0 would be owned by the players. And so part of their agreement and they're trying to entice these guys is to say, you know, you have built brand equity, even if we laugh at how it compares to the PGA tour, it does exist. There is some brand equity in Live. there is some brand equity in the team franchises. Each one could be quite different. And you again, people could laugh at how high or low those team values may be. One of the one of the main guys that was doing a little bit of a, I think it was a Q&A yesterday or recently I saw clips about he was representing BC partners.
Starting point is 00:33:41 He said, I think you could easily see a path in very short order to over a $100 million valuation per. team. I think that's a real number. Now again, I'm not going to sit here and say, I believe that if you are trying to, you know, get players, convince players to stay, the big stars to stay, you're of course going to want to argue that and believe that that is true. But if you are certain players, you know, and you don't have the clearest pathway back to the PGA tour, you have put not only a lot of your effort into like building the brand equity of live and of your team franchise, whatever is, but there's a lot of pride and ego involved. You have sat up there for years now in press conferences have been like, this is the right route to go. I'm doing this to grow the global game. We've laughed
Starting point is 00:34:30 at all that and then like dodging, just admitting that they took the money, but there's part of that involved and you've kind of come this far if you're sitting down in these behind the scenes meetings with these folks from, you know, the investment firm that are like, we're going to support you. We think you've bought this much. And right, they believe that. are now getting a lot of that equity, a lot of that at a huge discount, right? Like the PIF put in billions of dollars and now you're going to be able to own, if you're the players, 52 and a half of that. If you're BC partners, you're going to be able to own however much of it for $300 million
Starting point is 00:35:06 investment. That is in theory something that was spent $3 billion on. I get why they're trying to come in and be like, well, damn, if we turn this into a little bit of an upside, we got this at a huge discount. So I can understand it from that standpoint. I don't think it's as clear cut. You know, like Bryson's such an interesting case because he's like, I'm going to go play full-time YouTube golf.
Starting point is 00:35:27 I don't know that that's like sustainable with also trying to win major championships. I just I just really don't. Like I think you need to be playing a full, relatively full slate of competitive golf at the highest level to be able to do both. Yes, he won like the U.S. Open, but he was still at that point, he was like a year removed from PGA tour. He was, they were playing, you know, live events frequently. So it puts everybody in an interesting spot. And really, it is like that whole live golf equity. You know, I went down the list just a minute ago.
Starting point is 00:36:01 I was looking while one of you guys was talking. And it's like the fourth ranked player on live golf standings was Lucas Herbert. And it's like in the six players, Thomas Dietrich. Like you got, you got no brand equity on live after you get past like the top three names or so. So if those motherfuckers are gone, I think the appealing nature of your investment, if you're the investment firm goes way, way, way down after three names, maybe, two names. I mean, another side of this is nobody watches. Like, that's part of this.
Starting point is 00:36:34 Like, we can talk about the equity in these teams and how much this is worth and the valuation and the threshold and the investment and the players and all these big words. But if nobody's watching, then what are you actually getting? involved with. And I know that like, you know, some of these guys, they want to play to win. And they're out to there to win whatever events that they're involved in. But if nobody's watching, then I can't imagine any sort of investment is going to continue. And if no one's watching, is it even worth it? Not that eyeballs are everything in sport, as Frankie Borelli would say, but to have a model and a league that quote unquote works in this world, in this day and age,
Starting point is 00:37:14 you got to have people watching. And Liv didn't even have. have that when they had a full boat. Yeah, and to your point, without the PGA Tours Media partners, they don't have a product either, right? And the only reason they have a partner is because of eyeballs watching. Companies want to invest in things people want to watch. And you're just going to have a really hard time to round up your biggest partner is, what is it, Fox Sports 1 is what they're on currently and who knows what the future is.
Starting point is 00:37:41 They're not going to continue to take up airtime without viewership because they can't sell the ads. and therefore you can't really be a partner of live just like NBC, CBS, golf channel, all the various partners of the PGA tour, and they're their biggest partner. Without them, we're not playing for $20 million multiple times a year. And so I think you're right, Trent, you have to have eyeballs. You've got to have people watching. That's the only way you can sell your product to your biggest partners,
Starting point is 00:38:05 which is ultimately viewership. You have to have eyeballs. The most obvious thing, I mean, it's like what sport is. It's what professional sport is. If no one watched the Islanders Rangers last night, those guys would just be playing in a pond and like, like, Missa Quaca,
Starting point is 00:38:22 whatever, Minnesota. Like all these conversations about, um, it just sounds like paperwork to me. It's just guys shuffling papers on a desk, like trying to figure out what's a good investment and what's not. When the elephant in the room is nobody's fucking watching.
Starting point is 00:38:38 So these, this money is fake that we're all looking at. It is like you'd be better served in my opinion to go. Get rid of your $300 million proposal and offer Bryson like $50 million for his YouTube channel to be like a 50-50 partner in it. And you'd be, wouldn't that be better? Right. Like he's getting- Feels that way. He's getting like 5 million views every week whenever he puts out a new, you know, YouTube or 3 million, whatever it is.
Starting point is 00:39:04 And like, Live Golf's getting 80,000 people watching their final rounds, 130,000 people, which is like, yeah. So that part is everything. I mean, eyeballs is everything in every industry now. think at this point. Like everybody's just competing for people's attention and time and, um, and they're not getting it on live. So, uh, their only hope is to obviously have a couple of these big names. Otherwise, you just have, you just have like a shitty version of a tour that is like the fourth tour in the world, maybe, you know, if you've got a bunch of these other names playing against each other. So, uh, so yeah, it will be, you know, this whole saga
Starting point is 00:39:42 has been fascinating for four years now. Uh, so it will be, interesting to see what these guys decide to do in the next couple weeks and to see if anything comes from it. But, but yeah, that's the latest from the live golf front. Also, the Bryston thing drives me crazy where he wants to be full time. Like, this is my opinion. I'm not saying what his opinions are. Okay. I'm not going to tell him what his opinions are. But my opinion is that he obviously would rather be winning major championships and playing the best golf at the best time of his career right now. The fact that he made these decisions where it's caused him to be like, no, I want to go do YouTube full time is embarrassing for him to say that. And he's crushing YouTube. I'm not taking
Starting point is 00:40:25 anything that he's doing away from that. I'm just saying, like, you have one life to live. You are one of the best golfers in the world. You were crushing it on the PGA tour and all these major and stuff. And you're telling me that that that's not what you would wish to continue to keep doing. Yes, you took a lot of money and you went to this other tour. You took that opportunity. And you maybe thought that that was going to open up more doors to come back and leave a legacy in game of golf and all that stuff. And now you're saying that like you'd rather just be on YouTube. What are you talking about?
Starting point is 00:40:50 That's such a lie. In my opinion. Yeah. You know, look, Bryson, I've probably been pretty hypercritical, Bryson many times on this show. So I'm not in,
Starting point is 00:41:01 I'm not disagreeing with you. I'm very, uh, I do think it's circumstantial. I do think Bryson was, you know, he's a complicated figure. Um,
Starting point is 00:41:12 I think there was a time where he was very unhappy on the PGA tour. Like, I think when the Brooksie stuff was going on, I do not think he was in like a good place in his life. He did not know how to handle that. I think it was like breaking his brain. I think all that. And then around that same time within a year
Starting point is 00:41:28 to two years, he ended up on Live. He won the U.S. Open again. He was like, you know, he went from a spot where he felt, I think, as an outcast to like a spot where he was the product. Like Live golf for a
Starting point is 00:41:44 there only was Bryson de Shamp. That was like him. That was kind of the whole thing. And I think he needs that. I think he kind of needs that attention. And that also came at a time where he was allowed to do his own YouTube and his YouTube was blowing up. He had, dude, he had the, you know, he had the
Starting point is 00:42:00 video with Trump, you know, or like that was, I remember that came out like not that long. I don't think after he won the U.S. Open and all that was happening to him. And I do think he relates all that to like the best time in his life, which came right after the worst time of his life, which worst time of his life, PGA Tour,
Starting point is 00:42:18 like best time of his life was like live and YouTube. And so I wouldn't go as far as that he's lying, but I think he's trying to justify, you know, like these different eras in his life. And I just think it's, it's more complicated, I guess, than him just sort of like lying about where he's at. You know, I don't know. I think he would like to be like, like happy and winning tournaments at the highest level, you know? Yeah, I just think it's disingenuous for any guy who's like at the top of his game to say he doesn't want to like compete against the best players in the world all the time. I think any other response to that is like coping for some other decision that he made in his
Starting point is 00:42:56 life and like, and consequences that he doesn't want to deal with. Yeah. The obvious answer to me is like, of course I want to go be like the next Tiger Woods and I want to go win a bunch of tournaments and I want to be the greatest ever. But like because of decisions that I've made in my life and because of like my inability to deal with the media and my inability to like duck under. ropes and get made fun of on social media has caused me to now say, I'd rather be on YouTube. But like if we got him in the corner of a room with no microphones and no cameras, we'd say, dude,
Starting point is 00:43:22 you could redo everything. Would you want to be like the greatest PGA tour player ever and win all these majors and win players and all these things? I'm sure his answer would be different. I think as long as that goes along with him being like because I think, sure. I'd have to, I don't know what his motivations are again. This is my opinion as well where I think a lot of it comes from whatever. wherever he's going to be like is what he kind of wants to do.
Starting point is 00:43:47 Now that sounds a little shallow and maybe it is, but when he's winning and when he's crushing on YouTube, he is seen in a better light and people like him. And when they see him at tournaments, they root for him, as opposed to the time in his life where that Riggs was referring to where he was on the PJ tour, he was doing well, but like people didn't like him necessarily because there was another entity on tour that was sort of forcing
Starting point is 00:44:11 or like putting on this negative side where people didn't like him as much. So I'm, I'm just unclear on what his ultimate motivation is. Is it to be the greatest golfer of all time, play against the best players in the world and win the biggest tournaments? Or is it as simple as I want to be liked? It's probably somewhere in the middle. Yeah, again, in my opinion, I think that he would look back to those moments and be like, I wish I was liked on that tour. Like, that's the part I'm saying where like that might be where the regret is that he just couldn't make that work. Right. That we've like resorted to now being like, oh, no, this was way much, this is so much better because because this is happening
Starting point is 00:44:43 to me now. It's like, dude, you could have just figured it out over there, but you couldn't. And that's where I think that's where the fork in the road came. And it's like, no, this is way better for the future of golf. And I'm going to build this center in California. And I'm going to have all this money, whatever it turned into. To take this same exercise and put it up against the guy like John Rom. Like I look at John Rom as more of like, boy, it's a real shame that we didn't get him. Now he's only, what, 31 years old. So we still got so much time left to do whatever. happens in the future. But like that that 29 30 20, 20, 29 30 of John Rom on the tour, Scotty's on the tour,
Starting point is 00:45:22 Rory's on tour. Like I would imagine my opinion again, not John Rom's, that he looks at that and he's like, man, there are times where I just wish I was like going sharpened in my sword against guys like that as opposed to getting up at press conferences and being like, I swear this new entity is going to be the greatest thing in the world. I'm sure. And I think he's even said, There's been quotes in the past where Scotty's winning a player's championship and John Rahm is at home watching. And he's like, man, I wish I was playing in that tournament. So I look at John Rom and he's a guy who I feel like I have a good feeling of he wants to compete against the best players in the world and win the biggest tournaments and have that legacy.
Starting point is 00:46:01 It gets more complicated when you talk about his motivations to go to live. I think he thought he was going to be like a bridge between the two, blah, blah, blah. But I think he's a guy who's like, fuck, I may have wasted three years not competing against the best players in the last players. the world. And Kevin Kisner got offered money from Liv. So, I mean, he would be the or a contract at least, right? And you, you said no. Yeah, but what I was thinking while you guys were talking is how many of our podcasts we've done together since I've been on here of all the golf takes y'all had. I could not be in more agreement than all your takes so far. Like, I've been impressed. I was just letting y'all go because I was like, damn, let's see these guys.
Starting point is 00:46:36 They're on top of it right here. We're more of a Wednesday recording kind of show. You know, Monday we're not really at our best. I said this time of year, we're like a Wednesday recording. We got some good takes. Monday we're a little sluggish. We're trying to recover. Our whoop hasn't been as good. Wednesday, we're kind of firing a little bit.
Starting point is 00:46:53 I mean, y'all are hitting on all cylinders. I've loved every take from the live to the Bryson to the John Rom. And not to change subjects on what Frankie asked me, but I did have a Pat Perez interview come across my desk yesterday where he talked about John Rom and how many times he has a chance to shoot 59 at Silverleaf. And I was just like, what is? I mean, he says like almost every day. John Rom has a put on 18 to shoot 59, shoots hundreds of 60s.
Starting point is 00:47:21 Why would that guy not want to be going toe to toe with Scotty Sheffler at the player's championship on Sunday at 29 years old in the prime of his career with, you know, 8 million people viewing between 4 and 6 p.m. instead of 80,000 like we talked about earlier. It's just outrageous to me. I don't know how much money you would have to be paid and or not paid to sacrifice that. because that's the greatest talking to a guy that did it. I mean, the greatest time in my career was going back in that playoff of Sergio Garcia and Ricky Fowler and knowing the entire world was watching me in golf,
Starting point is 00:47:57 not the whole world, but the golf world was all watching me play these three holes against two great, well-known players. I was just coming out. And it's like, dude, this is what I practiced for my entire life. I didn't practice to be on a team with Terrell Hatton called whatever, the crushers. and being some psycho match play at the end of the year that nobody's watching just because we're getting paid a bunch of money. It didn't matter if I was playing for $10 or $10 million in that playoff. It would have mattered more than anything.
Starting point is 00:48:26 And the fact that he does not getting that rush anymore, I know is eating at both of them. Yeah. And that would, that's, that's it for me. That is the big difference is like for John Rom, he was on the more traditional path. He was going to be, he was number one in the world for a while. he was starting to rack up some majors. He was becoming, he still is, but he was becoming a Ryder Cup problem
Starting point is 00:48:52 for the United States of America and a huge centerpiece of that team for decades. He was on the path of a Ryder Cup captain, which maybe those things will still happen with Ryder Cup and all of that. But that to me is like if, you know, if the opportunity was, okay, you stay on that path, but you'll make like 50 grand a year, you get paid $300 million from Live.
Starting point is 00:49:16 I could understand it. But like the PGA tour path was like, you're still going to make tens of millions of dollars a year at this pathway, if not more. Scott, he's made like $65 million a year since then doing what he's been doing with the FedEx payouts, now high the purses have been that to your point,
Starting point is 00:49:34 kids, that's what drives me nuts. And it's very easy to say in hindsight, 2020, all of that. But it's like, you know, you can see what makes John Rom tick.
Starting point is 00:49:43 you can see that it's that fire. It's that competition. It's what he lives for. He plays golf in Arizona and Scottsdale every day. He's playing money games against the other best players in the area. He lives for this shit. And like to give up a huge portion of that in the prime of your career, which again, when he made the decision, maybe he didn't fully think he was going to be giving it all up.
Starting point is 00:50:04 Maybe he thought it would be more competitive weekend and week out. Maybe he thought the tour and live would come together quicker than anything ever happened because nothing happened. But to give that up in the prime of your career, when he's on that traditional path, on that trajectory, is why I do think he's a very different case of like a Bryson was just always been in kind of a weird place. And it's not like a guarantee that if Bryson was just more committed,
Starting point is 00:50:27 he would be the best player in the world. And, you know, like, it may be, maybe, maybe he'd be at, you know, the highest level and competing closer to like what a John Rom was doing and all that. But, you know, I think like even when Bryson won at Wingfoot, Like it wasn't that popular when he won that U.S. Open. It was, it was kind of fucking weird when he wanted. I was there. We were there on Sunday.
Starting point is 00:50:51 It was like, it was kind of weird. And like he had been, he had beefed up and people were like, you know, he's hitting in the rough everywhere, but he's able to wedge it on the green. People didn't love that. It was just the whole thing was a little bit weird. And so I guess, you know, to see the two of them pivot to live at what felt like different times in their career. Like the ROM one, you know, felt like when in like wrestling, when like, the NWO took like the most popular, you know, wrestler over there.
Starting point is 00:51:17 And everybody's like, no way. They just did that versus when you already take kind of a villain. It's like, well, of course they're going to take them. That's not a big deal. And I just think that like the, the Bryson one, I don't know, it's a lot, it's a lot different. There's a lot different kind of things that are factored between the two of them. Whereas Rahm really does feel like a guy that's like, if he could do it over again, I think if you had him in that room, same situation, Frankie.
Starting point is 00:51:44 He's one that I'm like, I think he would look you in the eye and be like, yeah, of course I wish I wouldn't have done that. But like, now I'm sort of here. I am where I am. Whereas I really think Bryson in his own head, like, for whatever reasons they may be, justifies it a lot. Maybe he's lying to himself, who knows? But like, I really do think that he, you know, he does these press conferences where he talks
Starting point is 00:52:05 about how he views his goal as like growing the game around the world and getting children into it. He says these types of things that like a Scotty and a ROM don't really fucking say. Like Scottie goes the opposite. He's like, yeah, it's not really my job to travel the world. I just want to win in America. And so I just, you know, guys are very different. And yeah, guys are just very different. I think they're different cases. So who the hell knows? The ROM deal had to be all financially, right? Because he was, you know, well liked on the tour, the prime of his career, top five in the world when he went. No real reason to leave. Like, Bryson left. we all knew why, right?
Starting point is 00:52:41 And that's what I just never understood with his decision. And who knows if he got paid all of his money, but looking back, it just can't be, was it worth it? I don't know how it could be. I think if you gave John Rahm some truth serum, he would say,
Starting point is 00:52:56 I thought I was going to be on live for a year and they were going to broker a deal and we were all going to come together. Because at the time, it was, like Rick said, people couldn't believe that he went. It was so counterintuitive to what, you thought he represented jacket.
Starting point is 00:53:12 Remember that? Yeah, black varsity jacket. And it's so counterintuitive to what he represents, which is part of this whole conversation that we're having, that we all were like, oh, he thinks. And at the time we thought maybe correctly,
Starting point is 00:53:24 this is going to bring these two together because the biggest golf star in the world right now just jumped. And I'm sure in the back of his head or even in the front of his head, he's like, I'll do this for eight months to a year. And then we're going to get this thing put back together. And it just didn't happen. He'll be the bridge. She thought he was going to be the bridge guy.
Starting point is 00:53:42 And they just moved on and PGA Tour continued to succeed without him. And they just brooded the next superstar like they always do. They just continue to find another guy. And look, you got a Jackson Coyvin that just was the star of the President's Cup, been on tour for six months. He'll be in that same era or section of the tour in the next two to three years. And John Rombs just ease off from people's minds. It is like so bizarre how truly like the live guys have largely just kind of disappeared. You know, like I know leading up the president's cup we talked about it.
Starting point is 00:54:18 There were some names there like Lucas Herbert. There was like Abe answer. Dude, Abe answer in the 2019 President's Cup at Royal Melbourne was like such a badass the whole time. He ended up losing that match to Tiger at the end. But leading up to that, remember like he was so sick out there playing golf. He, like, we had him on here. We were telling him we're going to rep his tequila brand. He had a real sharp.
Starting point is 00:54:39 We told him he had, like, the most defined, like, a jaw beard we'd ever seen. He had that great look. He's like, he was sick. And he is just gone. He had a fletia azool, whatever the hell that tequila. That's right, dude. He gave us the hat.
Starting point is 00:54:54 He's gone. We couldn't go to a tour event without him handing us little mini bottles of Fletcher Azul. He thought we were, like, going to push this product in every video we did. I fucking love it. is still out there. I'll remember when I got a bottle still downstairs to be honest. Yeah. Yeah. Cam Smith's gone. I mean, the guy was kind of on the Lockheem Neiman was number one in the world, wasn't he? Right. And then he what do he missed seven
Starting point is 00:55:18 straight major cuts once he went to liver and you know, just losing his mind at all these major championships. The reality is that the world's brains like all, it's all politics. No one's using rational thinking brains when talking about if it's successful or not. We all know it's not successful. But if you say that on a podcast, everyone's like, what are you talking about? Oh, I just don't understand why we can't just be like, this sucks. Like, of course it sucks. Look at what Brooke just did. Brooks just paid like $20 million to come back or something like that. You don't do that unless it sucks. Of course. Of course. Yeah. Like if I got my legs cut off and I was like, you guys are like, you can still walk. What do you
Starting point is 00:56:04 mean. Come on. American. That is it. What? First of all the least American league of all time. Dude, I listen. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:56:14 I know. And like there's a, I know. I know. There's a portion of like guys that you get, right? The older guard who were just like, I'm trying to get a paycheck boys. Like we all know their names.
Starting point is 00:56:26 We all know who they are. But then it's that younger crop, the Cam Smith, the John Roms, the Bryson's, where you're just like, and again, hindsight's 2020. I don't want to say like,
Starting point is 00:56:36 oh my gosh, there's people on this podcast who knew this was going to happen from the beginning. But there are parts where you're just like, I just don't think it's going to work.
Starting point is 00:56:42 And it just really hasn't worked. And right now, it's really not working. So people can defend it if they want, but. Is what it is, man. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:56:52 Dude, like, how about Matt Wolf? Like, Matt Wolf is 27 years old and he's been gone for years. You know, 27 years old. That's like,
Starting point is 00:57:02 we did Taylor, we did a tailor-made shoot with him. We thought he was going to be the next superstar. We did a blindfold hole with him. We were hyped up to get Matthew, Matthew Wolf. We're like, this is the next guy. Yeah, because he was part of that.
Starting point is 00:57:15 What was it, Hovlin, Morikawa, and him, right? That was like the trio. But what does a Matt Wolf do today, whatever it is, October, this 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th? And does he wake up today?
Starting point is 00:57:27 Like, I've got to go practice, but I have no earthly idea where I can possibly play a golf tournament again? I mean, that would be the hardest thing for me as a professional. Like every day I woke up in my career, I knew what I had to prepare for. Like, I was going to play in a little tournament in two weeks, or I had two months off, or I was changing something in my game to get ready for whatever. The master's coming up.
Starting point is 00:57:50 What is Matt Wolfer, Abe, answer, or Cam Smith waking up for on this Thursday going, all right, dude, I got to go work on my six footers for nothing. Yep. Great point. I don't know. I don't know what the answer is. It's a really good point. Like, dude, it's, it really makes me think like they're doing the 30th anniversary of Tiger's first PGA tour win when he won the Las Vegas classic.
Starting point is 00:58:14 And in his interview, his interviews, he was incredible afterwards to watch back. But he is like, I just like know and have somewhere to play for two years. This is awesome. Because he had, you know, he was only seven starts into his BGA tour career. He had sort of done the Jackson Coyvin where he turned pro after the US Amateur. So he didn't have the longest stretch to get his BGA torque card. and like that was a big takeaway for him. He's like, yeah, I have like the contracts and all that's awesome,
Starting point is 00:58:38 but like I now earn this and I have somewhere to play. Like you're saying kids, just like like, you know, sit down with Alistair for the last four years and talking to him about him trying to decide corn fairy tour starts to skip to try to qualify for majors and even if he qualifies for a PGA tour event, is it worth it for him to skip a Corn Ferry tour event to play in a PGA tour event
Starting point is 00:59:01 because he'll lose out of points even though playing a PJ Tour is his lifelong dream. And it's like having precisely what you're preparing for and to lay out your schedule for a year, two years in advance, I'm sure makes all of it like more, like much easier and worth it. Or you're like, this is what I'm going to do, baby. This is what you envision. You can envision trying to win this tournament, win that tournament.
Starting point is 00:59:21 And like, they just don't know what the fuck they're going to do. Matt Wolf is a name that's like, dude, I look, he won in 2019. And then in 2020, he finished tied for fourth and second. in the PGA championship in the U.S. open. And he has since then only played in five, no, he's only played in four major championships since then. So it's just like, what the fuck, you know? How old do you guys think, how old do you think Cam Smith is?
Starting point is 00:59:48 Hmm. 32, which. 31. He's 33. I thought he was younger than that. I really thought he was going to be like 29. But 33, spent those last three. three, four years, just kind of doing what?
Starting point is 01:00:06 They have so much money now. They have so much vaulted ceiling. They have so many watches. Yeah, but to your point, Frankie, I want to know, like, I don't know if this can ever come out, but I want to know if they ever actually got paid and what that number is. Like, I don't know if that can ever be divulged or given out.
Starting point is 01:00:24 If this thing goes, Caput, I'd just love for all the files to actually come out. And did they even pay out the earnings of the last few tournaments? and what were the actual guarantees because everyone in the business says they're like 50% of what you read. I know what my contract, that they kept sending me read. And it was like, you got to get rid of all your side sponsor. That was one of the big reasons I didn't even consider it. You all remember, I look like a damn NASCAR driver at the peak of my career logos everywhere.
Starting point is 01:00:52 And they're like, one of my favorites, too. You have eight months after you sign this contract to end all relationships. Like, dude, these guys have been supporting me my whole career. and I'm going to trust you guys to just make up the difference. That was a no-go for me. But I'd love to find out like what did John Rom actually get paid into his bank account? Right, right. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:01:14 Because the people making those promises are, they're gone. They're gone. And there's nothing you can do about it if they didn't pay you. What are you going to, are you going to fly to Saudi Arabia? Be like, hey, Yasser, where's my money, buddy? Like, is that what you're going to do? That's going to go well. If they got paid good on them, I mean, dude, you guys were calling me like Berlivi at one point or whatever you guys were calling me because I was a big, you guys had a little, you guys had a nickname.
Starting point is 01:01:37 Yeah, what was it? We had a couple for you there. I can't remember. He's like that. But, uh, there's something. There's something in there. You had a stretch there where you were real, you were trying to get a little contract. But it.
Starting point is 01:01:51 You know, it's not, you know, it's nice to have a devil's advocate. reason I bring that up is because originally I was like, of course you're going to take this money. Of course. Like all my once in a lifetime or you only have one life to live kind of I always have these stories about like we only just get one shot this thing. If someone offers you a jackpot of $300 million to go do the same thing you were going to do on the other tour, that's like the definition of insanity is denying that at that time, right? Where you're like, so I get to play the game of golf and you're going to pay me 25 times more.
Starting point is 01:02:25 Okay, I'll go take yours. Like it's the same game. it's not like where, you know, you have to learn how to play baseball or something. You're just going to go put a ball in a hole and you're going to get paid more money. I got that part. And then as the years went on and it didn't turn into what we thought I was going to turn into, you use a rational thinking brain. You go, this fucking sucks.
Starting point is 01:02:40 This fucking blows. Of course it blows. And then it's like if what kids is saying, if you don't get all of that money, then it really sucks. Then you, it's really sucky. Then that really sucks. Because you know what, too? The PGA tour went on a rocket ship and guys like,
Starting point is 01:02:56 scotty shuffle were making like a hundred million dollars in a year and shit so like the money ended up coming through anyway and you know what though there's also a devil's advocate side of it being like the only reason the pga tour put all that money is because of what live did so who fucking knows what the right answer is there was a period where the play where people were like the players need to thank like phil mickleson and dj and these folks that really made this happen because it led the tour to kind of condense and like jack up the prize pools and all that so that JT didn't leave and Rory didn't leave and all this. So, so yeah, that definitely happened.
Starting point is 01:03:34 But yeah, I think in terms of like the can we definitively say this sucks, uh, era of the whole thing like, you know, the PIF has unlimited money and they bailed on this thing months ago. We're like, nope, this ain't it. This ain't it. Chief. We're out of here. We always say Patrick Cantlay should be like, like on his hands and knees thanking film. Michaelson because the guy just like can't get a win but just has racked up so much
Starting point is 01:04:01 fucking money by finishing like T8. Joey La Cava is like got to be the biggest fan of what's going on in the world. Yep. You know what I mean? Just like we are just cashing checks. Finishing T9 has never been so lucrative. Thanks to Phil Mickelson. I saw, uh, I saw some guys did a podcast segment.
Starting point is 01:04:23 I wish I could remember because I do love giving credit. We'll try to put it in after. But they did a podcast segment of like Tiger's year of 2000. What how much he won like he won nine times. Three of them were majors. I think 17 out of 20 times he finished inside the top five and like never finished outside the top 25. And they're like how much money.
Starting point is 01:04:43 He made like nine million dollars that year or something. Like how much money would that have been. Oh. In today's PJ tour. And it's like a hundred and fifty million dollars. It's like he would have won, would have won like six elevated events. That's like 20 million right there.
Starting point is 01:04:59 Majors, that's another like 20 million. Then it's like the FedEx Cup pool, all the all the like, you know, AI, this top 10. Comcast or whatever that thing is. All of them. He would have won all of them. It's just like he would have had unlimited money. He would have earned kids.
Starting point is 01:05:15 He would have earned like 10% of like the PGA Tour equity program for life from that. Like it would have just all been over. He would have been tier A. number one from one year in that whole five year stretch of how he did it. His just one year would have got him the number one draft pick of the equity deal. I mean, dude, Scott, he basically did it in a realistic version of it. Yeah. And I know we're being like, like we're joking about how much.
Starting point is 01:05:39 Scott, he fucking won everything right at the peak. Yep. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, it's fucking crazy, man. The makeshift golf podcast. Thank you, Ryan Richie. Oh, I love those guys.
Starting point is 01:05:52 The, uh, I do like those guys. They do a good job with the social. stuff you did well you did well you have a lot of homes with vaulted scenes you got a lot of watches you got all that shit but you just missed by like two or three years your t 23 run dude yeah about that would have been epic i'd been cashed it would have been worth fucking four x dude yeah quarter milly every week just y'all never even heard of me finishing 18th and you know cashing quarter million cruising there was nothing better than us going out and filming we'd be anywhere we'd be at colonial and we'd just check in on kevin kisner and you all you have to do was one scroll down
Starting point is 01:06:25 Right? Like that, you're seeing like 12. It wasn't that much. It was just a little finger movement. You're like, oh, there's Kay Kisner.
Starting point is 01:06:31 And he's like, he's four under today. He's T-17. He's looking really good. Make a couple birdies he'll finish 11th and nobody ever hear about him. Dude, there was a run.
Starting point is 01:06:42 I mean, we might be able to even look it up. Like you did it like every week. Oh, it was fucking unbelievable. There was a joke, the back door Sunday guy. Like every week I'd tee off on Sunday and a two-sum and 30-second.
Starting point is 01:06:54 Birdie. two out of last four to finish ninth. Nobody would fucking know anything happened. And I just cash another top 10. It was whatever era of this podcast, which was essentially the beginning, because I remember we're doing podcasts in the old office and we'd be talking about
Starting point is 01:07:09 the Kevin Kisner run of like T-21. And it was amazing. It was really something to behold. It really, look at this year. That's not easy. No. In 2000, 2018, 2019, top 25 finish. is 11.
Starting point is 01:07:27 Dude. I just missed it. I just missed it. If that would have happened in 25, boys, that would have been some cash. Oh, dude.
Starting point is 01:07:35 How frustrating is that to hear back? Like, those are, you're only a couple of shots away from those being top fives and wins, too. That's how close the PJ Taurus. No doubt.
Starting point is 01:07:45 11 top 25s, dude. That's how the whole quote started of why, if you can't win there, why do you play? And I said, because they pay a lot for 20th.
Starting point is 01:07:53 Yeah. dude fucking the year before nine top 25 so we're looking at 20 top 25 in two years in two years and that's 10 top tens or no more i think that's like 12 top tens in two years that they just add up that's also a couple wins in there by the way so jesus christ that's a nice yeah that's the best part of my life though is that's the first five year measurement of that whole equity thing so i got I got rocked into that Tier A equity deal because of those five-year runs. You know, just Tiger Woods and I are, you know, we're in that top 30 equity because of my good runs there. So in hindsight, Frankie, I'm making it up on the back.
Starting point is 01:08:35 Oh, come on. Let's go, baby. We got some more ceilings coming. Got some more ceilings coming. Get them higher. Get them higher. Go up. I need a higher pitch on this vault, sir.
Starting point is 01:08:48 Dude, that's sick. I didn't even think of that. So you're just hooting and hollering for PGA tour success. I hope PGA Tour Enterprises is worth $1 trillion, Elon Musk era. Fucking right, dude. Answer this question for me. How does that get paid out now? Do you know, like, how does that operate?
Starting point is 01:09:06 Do they have to sell again or does it like just payments? No, we own equity. So we own, we vest over the next six years. So I think you vest in 28 if you do all the requirements to, to vest, you vest in 28, 50% of your equity, and then every two years after that, you get 25% more. So, 2,032 that I do all the things that are required, I'm fully vested. And then you own that percentage of the PGA Tour enterprises. What are the requirements?
Starting point is 01:09:39 Well, you're supposed to play 15 times a year, but I don't know how you do that if you can't get into 15 tournaments. So there's other requirements that you do to fulfill. like at the players championship this year I was on air on Saturday and Sunday obviously not in the field and I did like an hour and a half tent visit with their title
Starting point is 01:09:58 sponsor and all their clients and that satisfied a day which which also you know they they somehow have a formula for things like that and starts so maybe they gave me two starts towards my 15 for that tent visit I can't remember I was going to guess
Starting point is 01:10:14 if you could just do yeah you got to do other stuff that's beneficial to the value of the PGA tour and utilize like the value that a player has to like keep the equity up and all that. It's a great program for keep guys invested in helping the tour continue to succeed and continue to produce title sponsors and other sponsors, which in turn make you more money. I'm all for it. I'll do whatever we need to do to make it happen. Right. When you start, yeah, when you start talking about vest, when the vest word starts happening, something good is happening in your own big time you know it's going to vest here and then i got a way it's going to fully vest here i'm we when we talk vests we're talking clothing we don't talk it's like
Starting point is 01:10:57 dude that that that uh that dab bod classic we go on like every axe out employee they just got vesting happen and left and right in their lives you know they're just we're always at a vesting period there's like vesting on the horizon or like someone's paying for dinner because there was a vesting deadline within the last couple months. Those guys were just doing a shit ton of vesting at Axon. It's a good spot to be. I mean, the only time I've ever experienced that was with, we got gifted, like, not gifted, it was a bonus with pen, uh, pen, uh, pen stock.
Starting point is 01:11:30 Yeah. You couldn't touch it for a certain amount of years. Yep. Yeah. Yeah. I tried to tell, tried to tell Briggs, my boy to sell that as soon as he vested. Couldn't touch it. You couldn't touch it.
Starting point is 01:11:38 So I got to call my dad because that thing went to the roof. I called my dad. I was like, cry. and I'm like, we made it. I'm like, we're rich. It's over. It's over. Pack up Borrellys and we're going to the Bahamas.
Starting point is 01:11:49 That's it. We're done. And then like five years later when you can mess around with it. It's like, all right. Penn's at 15 bucks right now. You know, I think it was at like a hundred and something at one point with the, when the boys were.
Starting point is 01:12:01 The boys were rolling. I told Riggs to sell half when it was at 100 and keep half. And he's like, I can't physically can't. And I was like, well, that's, that's just a problem. Boys,
Starting point is 01:12:11 the peak all time high. stock price for Penn Entertainment Incorporated. Reach, this was March 14th, 15th, 2021, reached $142. I can't tell you how, you know, these little grants that the fellow's guy were looking at and being like, well, this is easy. I don't have to do anything. It's incredible. That's worth like half the price now that it was when I got it six years ago or whatever.
Starting point is 01:12:33 I don't even know how to access it. It's gone forever from your radar. Gone. I think I lost that password. Gone. See you later. All right. Let's talk a little. I want to talk a little Jim Furek, Rider Cup. So they're doing the Eighth Air Manor. The place looks insane. We drove by it. We were near it for a couple seconds, but I've never actually seen it. I don't really remember from the event or events that have been there. I don't really remember the shots, but it looks insane. I saw Jim Furek striped like a hybrid right in the middle of the green with a little baby draw. One of the clips they put out got me excited. But he was very candid. Jim Fierick, obviously close with Kevin Kisner, been a bunch of this lead. leadership groups on a lot of these teams over the last six or seven or eight years that
Starting point is 01:13:17 kids has been on the team he's been part of the leadership of the team so you are quite quite friendly with the ferrics we love jim ferric on this show um he said you know he was addressing the alternate shot issues that the team has um he was very candid to talking about how it's absolutely an issue now he said it's not an anomaly there's some issues we understand that but he also talked about the history and he was talking about when he first started playing on the teams. They were actually pretty dominant in fours and alt-shot, but struggled in four ball. That has clearly flipped the stats, backed that up so much so that in the last two Rider Cups,
Starting point is 01:13:54 gentlemen, the United States of America is three and 13 against Team Europe. In the last four rider Cups, we are 11 and 21, including two and six in Jim Furek's last effort, which was in Paris in 2018 as captain. he responded to somebody that brought all that up and said, your math is spot on, by the way. I know those numbers very, very well. I've lived them the last four rider cups. And then probably the most telling quote was he said,
Starting point is 01:14:23 I don't think we are preparing for those matches in the proper way. This is something Kevin Kisner talked about a lot on this show. He said, I'm going to ask this team to do more than any United States team has in the past. We'll be prepared. What do you think about that? kids. Well, first of all, the stats don't lie, right? Three of 13. He also talked about the captains have to do a better job of putting, you know, the guys in the right pairings in the best position to succeed, which I don't think we did the best in the foursums at Bethpage.
Starting point is 01:14:55 We could have easily put them in hindsight in better situations. You know, everybody wants to yell at us at certain pairings. But I think that's the only direction to go. When you continue to see these stats, you have to figure out a way to get your guys more prepared. I think one of the hardest things to do as a captain, especially amongst your peers, is to try to force guys on a team to do things, right? They're not under contract. They're not physically obligated to, you know, go to a dare manner like the Europe team just did out of nowhere a full year in advance and prepare on site. We don't normally do that. We haven't really done that. We've, you know, we've always had this kind of feeling when I've been on
Starting point is 01:15:37 the team. Like it's a headache to try to. force these guys to go do something. And I think Jim's the right guy for the job. To be like, all right, enough of that. If we're not producing emforums, we're going to do things that you guys aren't used to doing. We're going to go prepare to do this. And until we win forcums and win a rider cup, I think it's well warranted. And he's the right guy for the job because he's not actively playing with Xander
Starting point is 01:16:01 Schauffley and Patrick Cantlay every week where it's like, damn, kids is forcing us to fly to Ireland when I, you know, had a family vacation. and Jim Furrick can be like, dude, I don't give a shit until you win me a rider cut. We're going over there and we're doing these things and we're preparing to play forsums. And today we're playing forsums. You know, whoever. Riggs, you're teeing off on hole one. Kids is teeing off on hole two.
Starting point is 01:16:23 You're playing all 18 holes that way until we get better at this format. And I think that's the right thing to do. And Jim will be a great leader in doing that. And he's the right guy for the job. And he referenced that the United States used to be the favorites in the alternate shop back in the day. Is that what he said during that press conference? Yeah. So like, how did that change?
Starting point is 01:16:44 How did that mentality change? I mean, guys still didn't want to practice that back then, right? I mean, what's the difference now? I really don't know. Yeah, I think Europe's gotten better. And the same core group of Europe has continually made Ryder Cup teams for multiple years in a row and understand how to play that format better than our guys that are, The PGA tour is so individualized, man.
Starting point is 01:17:10 I've talked about this on this podcast before. You go play the DP World Tour and they all stay in the same hotel. They go to dinner together every night. You go to the PGA Tour and you don't go to dinner with anybody. They go home. They go Uber Eats, DoorDash, straight to their hotel, go to sleep. Nobody's hanging out. It's more of a fraternity on the DP World Tour.
Starting point is 01:17:27 They're playing for less money. They're having to travel together because it's more of a team caravan. Let's get there together. Let's all hang out. And I think that is what broods good teams. the PGA tour is such a big enterprise and they're playing for so much money that they're not having to do that
Starting point is 01:17:41 week in and week out and it's more individualistic which is not the ultimate help to team atmosphere. It is also interesting when you say that the general vibe around like getting the American players to do certain things sometimes can be kind of a headache. But when you ask the guys who play on these Ryder Cup teams are like this is the greatest thing
Starting point is 01:18:03 that I've ever done in my life, whether it be individually winning a tournament winning a major the rider cup is something i've strive to do my whole life and when i play for america when i'm on that first team i'm as nervous as i've ever been and then to kind of hear like but we don't you know well then practice like then let's do foursums like let's let's figure out something that's going to amount to success in the rider cup as opposed to just being like i love the rider cup more than anything and then getting beat in this one format i feel like there should be more of a a willingness to be like not Not only do I want to play on the Rider Cup, but I want to win Rider Cup.
Starting point is 01:18:38 So I want that to be part of why I love this event so much as opposed to just getting in front of a microphone and being like, yeah, this is like all I've ever dreamed of doing and then getting beat on our own home turf. Like that's less cool to me. All right. I got a fun little activity for us to do on this as a four play pot. And Ryan Richardson, you get a pencil and paper out and write these down. I'm going to let these three guys. All right, you three are the captains of the Ryder Cup of the Dare Manor of both sides. and you're going to pick your core group of guys right now
Starting point is 01:19:07 that 100% are going to be on that team six months out. So what is that next September? So we're sitting March of 27, and we've got to get our core group of guys together to go on a trip to prepare. All right, name the guys for the U.S. team and then name the guys for the Europe team and see which one has more.
Starting point is 01:19:25 That you guarantee you're going to be at that Ryder Cup. Yeah. I don't, you know, I'm not calling Jacob Bridgman in March and making him fly to Ireland with me and then in August he's 18th on the freaking points list and he's got no chance so that whole trip was wasted. But I can call
Starting point is 01:19:41 Terrell Hatton in March and I know that fucker's going to be there. So y'all name them. Let's see which one has more. Scott is Shepler. Yeah, that's a great one. Let's start with him. Team USA Scottie Shepler. Zander.
Starting point is 01:19:57 He was what on the President's Cup list? 12th as a pick, right? So we're guaranteeing we're not ruining his life. He's not going to have a bad stretch in those six months and not make the team. It is true. Like, I see what you're saying. It's like you're,
Starting point is 01:20:14 you're wrangling ghosts. Well, you have no idea, but I, you go look at the Europe team. I think they have one different guy from, uh, and it was parents to,
Starting point is 01:20:23 or not Paris, Rome to, uh, Bethpage. And it was, they were the two brothers that switched. Yeah. Mm-hmm.
Starting point is 01:20:31 I'm not talking shit. I'm just saying in general. The same point. It is. It is. And I, yeah, like, I see you're saying, like, I just went on this big thing where I'm like, what does it mean to these guys? And it's like, you're saying, what guys?
Starting point is 01:20:43 Like, you're going to say Justin Thomas, right? Because he's a, he's a great start. He didn't even make the president's cup team in Montreal, dude. Right. Yeah. So how do we guaranteeing he's going to be in Ireland? The nature of the team process makes it difficult. In my opinion, this is only Kevin Kisner's opinion.
Starting point is 01:21:02 And I've only been on part of two. but I've watched out works and I'm like, why are we not all hanging out like four times a year with our core group? And they're like, all right, who's our core group, kids?
Starting point is 01:21:10 Who's our dogs? And I'm like, Scotty Schephler, all right, he's going to be there. Yep, he's going to be there. All right,
Starting point is 01:21:16 who's your next one? Zander Schofley finished 12th in the points and the president's company needed a pick. So how do you say he's a core guy? I know he's been on every team. I'm not talking shit about Xander, but you never know, right?
Starting point is 01:21:28 Patrick Cantley's needed a pick like the last three teams. Do you think the, the process of picking of how Ryder Cup teams are chosen should be different? Well, since we've gone six and six, I think there's been more variation in our teams. This is no mathematical. This is just Kevin Kisner spewing. I have no idea. I'd have to look it up.
Starting point is 01:21:50 But it just feels like we know that Justin Rose and John Rom and Roy McAvoy and Terrell Hatton and all those dudes are going to be there. It doesn't matter, right? They're going to be there. Tommy Fleetwood. Those five are going to be there. Now, name five Americans. Y'all still haven't done my activity.
Starting point is 01:22:07 Name five Americans. We know we're going to be at a dare manner. I'm going to say Cam Young. Cam Young. Yeah, that's a good one right now. But he's a late one of late, right? He made Charlotte, Montreal, Beth Page. He's made four in a row now.
Starting point is 01:22:24 I'm going to say Morikawa, but he's no guarantee. But I'm just saying that. I'm going to say, I'm going to say. Would you have more confidence and more cowell are our Tommy Fleetwood being there. Tommy Tommy. Tommy, but I also think it's a function of like us being deeper as a country. I agree with that. Totally. Totally. But that's the function of this whole activity. Yeah. Like, I mean, Colin was a question mark going into Beth Page. Like a lot of American golf fans were pretty rattled that he got on that team.
Starting point is 01:22:54 Mm-hmm. And didn't play great. Right. Like, I want to say names like Wyndham Clark and Chris Cotter up. but, you know. Or Justin Rose. I know. It's a great, it's a great point that you're bringing up. It's great. And this is not anything I've ever discussed with anyone. It's just the thing that I always think about.
Starting point is 01:23:15 It's like, man, it seems like it's pretty easy on their side to conjure up these teams and be like, hey, man, you're going to play with him again. So bring 25 guys somewhere and do it. You know what I mean? All right. You get, we can't even get us for on the same fucking schedule. It's a rider. We got nothing to do.
Starting point is 01:23:32 That was sort of my point. That was sort of my point where that was sort of my point where I was like, we wax poetic. And I get why like representing your country is a big deal. But it needs to be a big deal on more than just the three days that you're there. If you want it to be like, if you don't want all this shit where it's like, why does our team suck? So yeah, are you going to, but I mean, getting 25 American tour players in one place. Not happening. impossible.
Starting point is 01:24:01 It is hard. Right. Because you want to pull everyone. What if Brian Harmon goes on a generational run this year, right? Like he's going to be on the team. You got to invite him. What if there's all these guys that are going to make the team that you want to get some reps in on alternate shot? That could be a pool of 20 guys.
Starting point is 01:24:18 It really could be. 100. But you don't really know that pool or the closeness of that pool until July. All right. So maybe we need to change like the process then on how we pick the team. I'm not smart enough to know the answer to that. I'm not either. Right.
Starting point is 01:24:35 Yeah, I mean, the problem becomes like you could do all that. You could invite 20 guys and like you're probably going to leave one off. You know, if you invited 20 guys tonight to an event next week where you're doing like a prep trip to Adair Manor, you're going to have one or two guys that end up making the team that were not on that trip. We did it in the Paris. I mean, I've told you all the story. I believe France. There was like six of us that flew to France the weekend before.
Starting point is 01:25:01 for the British Open. Brian Harmon and I were together, and we just beat the shit out of Tony Fienow and Bubba Watson and get at the host site. Well, guess who played on the team? Bubble Watson and Tony Fienow and not Kevin Kisner and Brian Harmon. So it's like, what was the point of that whole fucking exercise? Jim Fierich.
Starting point is 01:25:20 I just shot 6464 over here in front of you at the host site, but now I'm sitting at home watching us get our ass kicked. I think in the heat of the post Beth Page glow, where we had lost and like we were just yelling into these microphones about ideas about what could fix it. I think at one point Frankie was saying like a Ryder Cup camp where the way you determine the team is you just have all these guys face off against each other or some sort of like process as opposed to you played well on the PJ tour and you got all these points and that's how you're making your way on. You just you like have a basically a mini tournament for
Starting point is 01:25:58 PJ Tour Americans. But again, you're never getting all these people together. They should host four tournaments throughout the year and like the winners of those tournaments, just the American Rider Cup tournament. The winners of those get like guaranteed on the team and then you can make your captain's pick based off of anyone else. Would you enter as like two man teams that do like match play? Yes, that'd be sick.
Starting point is 01:26:20 Alt shot match play. Yes. Like only care about that because they're the best players in the world anyway. They're always going to play their ball into the level where like, all right, if they had to, if these guys are matchplay assassins, you're going to take. the fact that they're going to have to play Sunday singles, regardless of if they're in the top 10 in the world or whatever might be. But if you know that they went into four match plays and they won with their partner, I'm taking those two guys for sure. It is funny for like training
Starting point is 01:26:44 camp for like hockey I'm thinking, right? Like they, you know, I guess like they do do combines and stuff and like football and all that. But I'm thinking and you know, if like you show up to a training camp or a tryout and for a hockey team, like you don't get to choose your two line mates. Like they put you on a team and they see how you perform within that like team which is the game of ice that's like what they do it's not just okay you skate it as fast as you could you're on the team it's like no you have to like play the game within the within the format of the game and so i wouldn't hate like a camp like a like a like a week long camp where they just come up with every day of multiple pairings of like put guys together you know see how uh whatever harman and bryson do together and then you just
Starting point is 01:27:30 kind of evaluated and at the end of it maybe there's a little tournament for a couple spots but like you get to pick a certain amount and then you get you know I don't know I don't hate that and what's the value of the Rider Cup is it like a hundred million what's the number for like the Rider Cup what kind of business is it right like my point is like
Starting point is 01:27:46 does it garner the like should we have more I said we should have a center we should have a center in like Wisconsin like Aaron Hills or something we're like Fierich just lives.
Starting point is 01:28:02 Like that's his office. Or like wherever he, you know what I mean? Like we should have a fucking Ryder Cup can't. Where that is where they go. Kids is just violent. I also see, okay,
Starting point is 01:28:14 I agree with that, but I also see. Some more, more people I wanted to tell you on the European team that we never got to. But Shane Lauer, you think he's going to be at a dare manner? I don't care about these guys, freaking vacations.
Starting point is 01:28:27 Ludwig Oberg. You think he's going to be there? Matt Fitzpatrick. Victor Hovlin. They're all true wins. They might be there. Right. I mean, you could do your top eight right now,
Starting point is 01:28:37 and it's October the 8th in 26. I can tell you eight of the 12 guys playing. I could, I could tell you John Robb's going to hit the first shot, and Tehral Atten's going to hit the second shot on the first hole. I can tell you exactly what they're going to do right now. There's also a side of this. Right. There's also a side of this, and it's the least popular side there is for the Americans where you're like,
Starting point is 01:28:59 I understand where. all these other tournaments they're going and they're making a shit ton of money and there's that's where their priority is and they want to play in these big tournaments in the rider cup is just something where they're like all right i'm going to show up and i'm going to try and congeal with the team over this amount of small amount of time that we're there but it might not be priority number one and i you know i don't know what to do about that that's my opinion i don't know if anybody actually feels that way but i'm starting to get that feeling a little bit sometimes USA golf camp
Starting point is 01:29:29 I don't hate it golf camp you ain't get nobody in there there but no I also said we said this on a drive the other day in the car we need and I think you came up with this idea
Starting point is 01:29:40 when we were just on a phone call we need to do golf camp at Barstool and kids needs to run it so many people try and play this game at Barstool Sports they're obsessed with it there's so many people
Starting point is 01:29:54 the list is endless right my DMs are endless from the barstool staff. Nikki smokes, Brandon Walker. I mean, it's, I can't even start to name all the names because like everyone plays golf and they all love the game. A golf camp would be electric. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:30:10 With like people having to do certain, uh, activities with it. And like you are hosting the camp, right? So like there's lessons involved, but then there's also competition. And drills. And drills. Like you go do all the drills I did in a practice day. Correct. If you had 12 to 15.
Starting point is 01:30:26 15 people out there and then you did a competition and you hosted the whole thing. It'd be incredible. Golf camp with Kevin Kisner. Come on now. Golf camp. With Kevin Kinsk. With Kevin Kahn.
Starting point is 01:30:40 I loves golf camp. Just a huge fan of golf camp. The name's a banger. It's a banger. It's a banger. Sell it, sales team. Just think about like heavy weights, but golf camp.
Starting point is 01:30:53 Correct. They do. They do. I know they do Camp Barstool, which was kind of veering it out a little bit, which is similar. But this is golf. Golf camp. I'd love to see how many people on the staff would sign up to be one of how many ever we had. I bet you'd get like 50 people wanting to participate.
Starting point is 01:31:13 I know. I mean, Big Cat says he's trying to learn how to play. He played. When we did that 3V3, he actually played pretty damn well. When I was on a team with Hank and Big Cat, and we used like the majority of Big cat shots, I feel like. Dude, he was like trying to get better. He's very into it.
Starting point is 01:31:31 He said that to me in the cart. He was like, if we're going to compete in this match that we're in, we got to stop using my shots. He's like, we have used too many of my shots. You and Hank have to play better. And I'm like, I know, but you're hit the ball pretty damn good. Jordan Speed is a name that I just thought of that has just like vacated our teams, you know? Vacated. it's like if you did the same exercise six years ago that you were just having us do right like you'd have speed would be a fucking lock you'd have Patrick Reed you'd have bryson to shambo you'd have these guys that would just be locks on this team core group that you know we've allowed other guys to come in which is it's funny because we get hyped up about those guys and you're always going to need to bring in new guys occasionally like every few years you got to just keep the turnover all of it but it's like too much where it's like we kind of need our core.
Starting point is 01:32:26 guys but then we bitch about the boys club when they get picked. Come on, Fierreck, get the deal done. Get it done. That's the thing, too. You win and we talk about this all the time. Every time we talk about their air cup, I mostly bring it up because I do feel this way. You win.
Starting point is 01:32:47 Fucking whatever you did was the way and you don't have to deal with any of the scrutiny for the next however many months. If you just keep winning them, Team Europe and Luke Donald are just like, this is the easiest fucking thing in the world. You win and nobody criticizes you. Everything you do is a stroke of genius. Dude, he's got the opposing captain calling him the greatest Ryder Cup captain of all time
Starting point is 01:33:11 is what Luke Donald's got going on. He's just got it, man. It's because they win. You just people are people like you're the greatest ever. It's a chicken and the egg. I know. I know. So we'll be favorites too.
Starting point is 01:33:28 I'm sure we'll be like a like a draft king's favorite to win that Ryder Cup. I nowadays we've seen so much evidence. I actually don't think so. No chance. I don't know, man. Four and soil. I don't know, man. We go into this thing every year.
Starting point is 01:33:43 We're like way higher than them in the world rankings, all of it. Yeah. Golf so hard, man. I played the other day and I had 10 putts through three holes. And I actually looked at the guy I was driving with. and I was like, I guarantee there's been PGA tour players that have had less than 10 putts in nine holes. Oh, yeah, for sure. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:34:04 I think it might be some that have under nine in nine holes. Kids might have done it, dude. Yeah, you know. You might have been. We put and chipped in twice. Chipped in twice and made every six footer from par, shot 200 and felt good about it. Ten puts and three holes. Couldn't find the hole, man.
Starting point is 01:34:22 you need a putting lesson from old kids i got Trent rolling it golf camp that golf camp we just uh that new video that's out now with our guy James back nine handshake bets yes i i don't want to give anything away and it's not giving it away but i the putting in that for me was dynamite and then i pulled up to chicago at shamburg golf club haven't seen you since in a while and you're like dude i'm making everything you hit it to 30 feet and it just poured it in like it was nothing first but i saw you hit dude it's you've changed my life it went dark in chicago that night because trent put the lights out of the
Starting point is 01:35:02 city it was unbelievable what we saw against james from handshake bets uh this is a great video by the way i'm sure we plug it off the top but just before we get off here it's uh james from handshake bets they are draft king's brothers of ours they're they're under the same umbrella they are a new an upcoming crew of content creators. They're great. They're in Chicago based and they do all these little handshake bets. Like, oh, I'll bet you $2 that that guy exits the field with his left foot. And like, they always, they get all these viral videos and they do all these challenges and stuff. But they also have the back nine boys, which is their Instagram, their YouTube channel for golf. And this guy, James, uh, is maybe the best golfer in the world because he does this challenge where he just can't
Starting point is 01:35:46 make a five. And he like comes really close all the time. So it's like, if you're playing that many rounds, you're never making five. You're unbelievable at the game of golf. And we got to see that up close and personal. It was awesome. We did a no-fives challenge, James versus Trent and myself. Whoever made a five had to owe money. So he was so confident that he said, come to Chicago, fly your ass to Chicago.
Starting point is 01:36:08 If I make a five, this is James talking. If James makes a five, he owes us $2,000 cash. If we make a five as a two-man scramble, we owe him $1,000 cash. So he thought, and you have to watch us, that like, we were going to make a million five and he was going to make none because we were going to own a bunch of money. You're going to have to watch a video, see how that turned out. It was really fun.
Starting point is 01:36:30 It was great. There we go. There we go. We talked a little bit about it on the last episode, but we love those guys. They're just like. They're awesome. We had so much fun. Yeah, they're very.
Starting point is 01:36:42 Very good dudes. All right. I think that's all we got, gentlemen. It's a good show, man. It's fun. You all. Popping today. Here we go.
Starting point is 01:36:51 I give some takes once in a while. I like it. Fire off some takes. I'm sure we'll get, we'll get clips somehow here and it'll be. Clip to death. I already just thinking about my clips that I'm going to be getting shared with tomorrow morning. Front page in New York Post somehow.
Starting point is 01:37:05 It's been a while. Yeah, we need to get back in there. I know, I know. We've lost our crowd. Ryan Richens. Ryan Riches is just grinning right now.
Starting point is 01:37:13 I don't have to deal with any, I haven't had to deal with any bullshit in like three months, two months. It's been too smooth. way too soon yeah we could change that real fast yeah richard how you think how you feel about your boy love on green bay man that guy's fucking sucks he doesn't suck dude the offensive line sucks come on the running back suck he's obsessed with this quarterback i watch these green bay packers games he's not good
Starting point is 01:37:40 oh so i actually have a theory on this i watched the entire games every play every year and he is so good and then people just eat And then he, but he makes one, what the fuck is that play every game? He's an aggressive player. I will admit that. But I want him to be aggressive. So anyway, my theory is, is that people see him come on Red Zone, make that insanely stupid play. And they're like, this guy sucks.
Starting point is 01:38:03 But they don't see the rest of the game where he's playing really well. I'm just saying like they won the game. They battle it at. They grind out a win. But he had, you know, like if you look at his, he has a 56 completion percentage. He's thrown three interceptions. He's gotten sacked eight times. Like the guy just like he's constantly, he's constantly, constantly, constantly making bad plays, constantly.
Starting point is 01:38:24 I disagree. He's constantly making amazing throws. Like they, they had a, he had a perfect pass they dropped in the first quarter. He makes aggressive throws that sometimes they end up as picks, but I'd rather him do that and be safe like Jayonne hurts. Not take chances. I'm going to take a wild guess and say Frankie Borelli drafted Jordan Love in his fantasy. No, I didn't.
Starting point is 01:38:42 I didn't. I didn't. I had Jackson Dart actually. No, I just, because I remember, we got, we got into this. whole thing when we did the TPC Sawgrass video with Tom and my and my father-in-law. We went down there to Sawgrass and Ryan Richman went at the dinner. My buddy Tom, we were talking about Jordan Love. And we were just, so me and Tom, we talk all the time about Jordan Love because of how much Ryan
Starting point is 01:39:03 Richen loves this guy. Absolutely loves him. We're like, this guy stinks. We watch him because we're like, we're like excited to watch Green Bay Packer football now. And we just can't get any excitement out of this guy. He's so good, man. He's just misunderstood. These are responses.
Starting point is 01:39:17 These are the responses that gets us going Because he's like, he's the best. He's the best. He's not the best. It's just comparatively to what people say about him, it's crazy. People are like, this guy's horrible. And I'm like, he's really good. I'm not saying he's the best quarterback in the league,
Starting point is 01:39:32 but people that say he's horrible. I just cannot disagree anymore. Fuck. When you're in that situation, like when that's your quarterback, you got no other choice than to be the way that Ryan Rich. Unless he's better than any of the jet guy. That's for sure. Gino's not the fucking guy, man.
Starting point is 01:39:46 What? So Gino's not the guy. Who didn't fucking know that? I can't believe what I, like I felt like I was in like a time loop when I saw that Gino was back playing for the Jets. I was like, what the fuck is happening? Yeah. Same. Y'all are still trying this guy.
Starting point is 01:40:02 I hadn't he been around for 38 years? Hasn't been successful anywhere? What age do you think Frankie Boy will be when the Jets make the playoffs? Oh my God. When the Jets are truly, truly cursed. And there's always going to be someone in their division. Like the bills will always be the bills. And then the Patriots will always be the Patriots.
Starting point is 01:40:23 You had a couple of year run here where the Patriots were slipping and sliding. And you could have maybe taken advantage. And they just didn't. Like they're never going to, they're never going to do anything ever. I'm going to say 45 years old. I'll be dead. People hate that owner. I feel like that's a big part of it.
Starting point is 01:40:40 Woody. It's bad. Islanders are a whole other story. So there you go. We'll see. Yankees tonight. If you're listening to this. hopefully the Yankees are still alive.
Starting point is 01:40:49 Matt Schaefer is going to take you to the promised land, my friend. There you go. That's some hockey. That's a great player out of Trent. It's a great player. What do you got planned for tonight in fucking London? Dinner reservation tonight and then last night here. What's that?
Starting point is 01:41:06 What kind of food you got? I think this is a, I'd actually have to look. I don't know what type of food it is. But just a lot of walking around. I like finding. pubs with dark wood. And that's easy to find here. Low lighting, dark wood.
Starting point is 01:41:23 That is, yeah. Good beer. That's like, I like to get in there, get a drink, and just like taking the local scene. See if you can find a rumplement shot over there while you're hot. All right, boys, this has been, this has been fun. No. I got going on this week here. You're down.
Starting point is 01:41:40 Where? Where are you at? I'm at Keelah Island till tomorrow. Then I'm going to my farm hosting my buddy's 40th birthday with 6th. team people starting tomorrow at noon. So that'll be fun. Riggs is down at Pioneers. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:41:54 Yeah. My dad's here. My old man's here for a couple days visiting. I saw that story of him watching hockey. That was very funny. Yep. Yeah. Did you guys see this?
Starting point is 01:42:03 Standing. I had to go to the bathroom. There was a lot. Golf bag right beside him too. In the game. He's on the glass. When they make a pass, he has a moment.
Starting point is 01:42:17 head took me a second to find him. I was like, where is he's like in the television? But yeah, we're going to, we're here just a couple days. We got really nothing too huge playing. We're playing a little golf. We're going to see a little tour of Pioneers number 11 with Mr. Pashley, which could be really, really nice. They do the cradle knockout on one Thursday every month, which is a huge scene here.
Starting point is 01:42:42 I got Alex Hanky, if you guys remember him from the Aaron Hills days. Hank he's been working in the different shops around like the pro shops around Piner's for years now. Anyways, he kind of helped spearhead this cradle knockout that they do on Thursdays once a month where it's around 100 people. I think people pay 10 bucks to get in. Half the money goes to charity and half the money goes to the winner. And you hit like 140 yard shot from like the halfway house there. If you hit the green the first time, you advance. Then they draw a 20 foot circle.
Starting point is 01:43:13 If you hit it inside the circle, you advance. And then the last round, there's only eight or ten people left, maybe. And whoever hits it closest to pit and wins the whole thing. And like two or three hundred people come out for it. People start posting up at like 3.30 in the afternoon. It starts at like five or six. They bring lawn chairs. They bring their families.
Starting point is 01:43:30 Everybody kind of hangs is a really fun thing. So we got that on Thursday night. So it's going to be great. That's great. Send it. Why don't you win it for us? Yeah. Last time I went up there, I duck hooked a nine iron left to the green the first time.
Starting point is 01:43:42 And I missed the, I missed the, I missed the first round, so I was tough. It wasn't my nine iron. It was like a ping or something like that, but still. I got to be in Pinehurst next week for a few days with a company, so I'll see if I can participate. I think you'd do better than I did, kids. I don't know.
Starting point is 01:43:59 You saw my first nine iron at a hole in one challenge. I did. I did. I saw that. All right. Well, thank you, everybody for listening. Thanks to our sponsors.
