Starting point is 00:00:00 Hey, 4Play listeners, you can find us every Tuesday and Thursday on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or YouTube. Prime members can listen ad-free on Amazon Music. It's August. Holy cow. That was hell of a back you just put in there. We're back. I liked it. Did you like that?
Starting point is 00:00:15 Yeah, it sounded like something was splattering on the concrete. Yeah, it did. That was my back splattering. It came in with such velocity that it's splattered on the concrete. Feels good, man. August golf, we're talking. This is the dog days of summer, but we're firing on all cylinders. We haven't stopped.
Starting point is 00:00:29 No, of course we haven't stopped. We've got the playoffs. Playoffs are coming. There's a lot to get to. There's tons to get to. We got a bunch of storylines. We got airplane, some airplane, inappropriate behavior on airplanes. We got all kinds of stuff going on.
Starting point is 00:00:40 We got Lady Golf. You know, I fucking love Lady Golf. I was all up in a tweet storm yesterday about Lady Golf. We got a bunch to get to. Supreme Golf, they got a bunch to get to for you. They're giving away the ultimate Pinehurst experience. It's a four-night stay at the Carolina Hotel for two, four rounds of golf, including one at Pinehurst number two.
Starting point is 00:00:59 Also, Gilhant's new course that he opened up, number four. He did the number four course. That's supposed to be spectacular. The cradle, a little par three course, little par tray course down there at Pinehurstown. I want to check out. You go to spring golf.com slash barstool. It can all be yours. You can have a really cool trip.
Starting point is 00:01:13 You've got to go to spring golf. com slash barstool to enter. That's also how you should be booking T-Times. Go to your app store. Okay. Get Spring Golf. Download Springoff. Go to Springoff.
Starting point is 00:01:23 Go to Springoff. Go to Sprangoff. Go to Sprangtoll to book T-Times. They've got everybody else you ever heard of. Plus just thousands more. under their umbrellas, so you're missing out if you don't use Supreme Golf. All right, boys, we're back. Like I said, we're back.
Starting point is 00:01:35 We're coming off Matthew Fitzpatrick interview. So we haven't really, he is an awesome dude. We haven't really sat down, you know, us and chatted. Lurch is sick. He's really sick, so he's out today. Poor Lurch, you know. Is he kind of guy gets sick a lot or what? I guess.
Starting point is 00:01:50 He's been sick for like a week. He's coughing up green stuff. He might go to the doctor. It was a graphic tweet that he said, or a text that he said. It was graphic. Just say you're sick. Why do you have to send all that information? I don't need to know everything.
Starting point is 00:01:59 I don't need to know everything either. He is sick. I think maybe just eat too much. You live with him. I haven't seen him. I've been out. I've been gone. We had a personal classic.
Starting point is 00:02:07 I was in D.C. all weekend with my old man. Great to see my own man. Yeah. We did a little tour of D.C. and all that. But I haven't seen Lurch and he was in Jersey back home. I haven't seen him in like a week. And he's just like every time I texted me.
Starting point is 00:02:18 He's like, I can't come in. I'm sick. I don't know what's wrong with that guy. Too graphic. Way too graphic. Too graphic. Anyways, Matthew Fitzpatrick. Like last time we did this show, we just did the full damn thing with him.
Starting point is 00:02:30 Fits, he's awesome. The backstory, of course, goes that he walked right by us. First time we ever saw him, really, was at Beth Page Black, walked right by us. Frankie made a little joke. Think that's the only guy in the world I could beat up. Ha, ha, ha, ha. We all laughed. Well, everything came full circle now.
Starting point is 00:02:43 We got him in the office for a full hour. He just sat down to give you a little bit of behind the scenes. Like, he rolled in here with just his guy, I think like his manager, his one guy. And his manager's like, hey, I'm going to go take a bunch of calls. So good luck. And Mattie's just like, yeah, where do you guys need me? And he just sat right here completely, you know, no supervision. Nobody with him just chilled and was like, yeah, ask me whatever.
Starting point is 00:03:04 And we just shot the shit with him for an hour. So really, really cool interview. If you haven't listened to that yet, go back. We cover everything, man. There were funny stories in there from the golf course, from not on the golf course. It got really interesting when we talked about how we picked up like seven yards and then adding an inch to his driver. Now he's like, well, I'm going to do some math. Just add two inches.
Starting point is 00:03:21 Then I'll pick up 14 yards. So like from him running down the first. fair way to finish the British Open. Like, it was a whole mix. And also, like I said, it was cool to get kind of a little bit more hands-on technical kind of deeper golf stuff that he, that he walked us through and whatnot. So really cool interview. Then he roasted Frankie on Twitter yesterday, which I liked.
Starting point is 00:03:41 Yeah, he was doing like a Q&A. He wrote like the most European English tweet. He's like, I'm in the car. I'd like to do a Q&A whilst driving in the car. Like, Wilsst. I can't even say that. I think it's wild. Whilst whilst? Whilst driving in the car?
Starting point is 00:03:57 I mean, just such a, like, no, I was saying. Like, he tweeted it with a white glove. It was an afternoon tea time? Not done a Q&A for a while, happy to answer some whilst sat in a car for a couple hours. All right. Yeah, so someone wrote like, well, who's your favorite guy from the four plate group? And he's like, Frankie Raleigh, because I can beat that guy out. Now, he's just a really cool dude.
Starting point is 00:04:19 I mean, he came in here, 27th ranked player in the world, 24 years old, which is outrageous. He's young. I didn't realize he's that young. I feel he's been on the scene for a while. Yeah. And when we walked out of the studio, this new studio here in the new office at Barstool is right across the hallway from our radio studio, which has all glass. So we walked out of this place with Matthew Fitzpatrick. And everyone that was on radio was looking at him. And we're talking to him. He's our pal now. We're like giving him high five showing him around the place. We gave him a tour. And when he left, like people were coming up to us being like, oh, was that like a Barstool fan that he goes? are like showing her. Yeah, somebody was like, is that a local high school kid? He just like came in and wanted to see the office and we're like, no. Actually, that's one of the best golfers in the universe.
Starting point is 00:05:03 Because he honestly rolled in here in like Under Armour T-shirt and Under Armour like Jim shorts. Like he just like went like working out or something. And he just rolled in here just so nonchalantly and just did an hour with us. It was like like people couldn't even like usually when you have the number 27 golfer he's in here with like a whole crew like Riggs was saying like he maybe he has a trophy with them or like some. sort of freaking, I don't know, like, I'll see a media team, uh, entourage.
Starting point is 00:05:28 Like this guy just came from his hotel room and was just like, yeah, it's like, do this thing. Yeah, we've done enough of these now where there will be a group of some, you know, higher, more famous people. And the interviews, in the moment, I don't think they're that different, but then you get a guy like Matthew Fitzpatrick who has no one and you do see that it is more relaxed. You do get into more topics. And like we said, we did a full hour with him. Later that day, a video was like going kind of viral of him walking down the streets of
Starting point is 00:05:51 Manhattan with his tour bag. His giant staff bag He was just walking down the street Like I guess to go to the boat for Bayonne Because he was going to play Bayonne after he finished with us And it's just like the most relatable Like this guy's well I guess it's not relatable Because it's a huge staff bag
Starting point is 00:06:05 But just a guy trekking his clubs through the city Just made me feel like what we do When we try and catch a train to go golf It was the same thing It was I mean he was like jumping across You know the street during a green light Trying to like pick up a little bit of time So we could make his boat
Starting point is 00:06:18 It was super relatable And it was He was he's legitimately Just was on vacation for the week. And his boy was like, yeah, let's carve out time to swing by, you know, Barstle H.Q. And you can do four play with those guys. Holiday.
Starting point is 00:06:29 He calls it Holiday. Holiday. You're right. He was on holiday. One of the more, you can listen to the interview, but I'd say the most interesting thing for me during that was when Frankie asked him when he knew he had it and when he would be a professional golfer. He was basically like, I don't know. He was like, I was playing like, I was playing like, I was playing really well. And now I'm the number 27th rank golf from the world.
Starting point is 00:06:47 So something just snapped. Something snapped. He actually said he didn't know until after he won the U.S. Avenue. I loved that he was like, I didn't. To be honest, I didn't know how big the S-Ambeter was. He's like, I won the semifinal match, Notably Gay's on the Green,
Starting point is 00:06:59 doing a little notification. Yeah. And he gives him like, oh, yeah, so now that you've automatically qualified for the Masters, and he was like, wait, what? Like, this thing's a huge deal. And so, yeah, it was. It was just kind of, he's a very down-to-earth, very normal guy.
Starting point is 00:07:13 He came in here on his own time. He shot the shit with us. He answered any questions. He got very comfortable with us, and he was great. So if you haven't listened to that, go check it out big thing. And I'm pumped.
Starting point is 00:07:23 We have our euro now. We never really had like a euro guy. Yeah, we do. That's our guy. That's our European guy is Matthew Fitzpat. I mean, he was on the fucking 2016 writer cup.
Starting point is 00:07:32 Yeah, it'll come to blows when we have to face him in the Ryder Cup. But it'll be good to have a guy on the other team. That'll be our guy. I hope to God he makes that team. But he, yeah, I mean,
Starting point is 00:07:41 he's English guy. He's as Euro as they get. He says things like walt and, you know, all that good stuff. And holiday. I go on holiday. It's probably my putting.
Starting point is 00:07:52 It was probably my puttin. What was it? What do you think was wrong with you this season? Yeah, it was probably my putting. You know? You know, bunkers. I kept putting in the bunkers. It's like when we find out that we have, you know, Australian listeners, now that we have a guy, one of our guys is a European guy.
Starting point is 00:08:09 Yeah, I love that. That's huge. So that's our, that's our Euro guy is Matthew Fitzpatrick. Love that dude. And I do think, I mean, you're way bigger than he is, ranking. I am way bigger. And I also did the classic thing where after we finished the fucking interview, I was so nice to him and so, like, like, just, in his face being like,
Starting point is 00:08:24 yeah, you can beat me up, Maddie. And then he left. I sat down. We finished ad reads in here, and then I was like, I could beat the shit out of that guy.
Starting point is 00:08:30 You do it every single time. When we had a radio at Pebble, he was on and you're like, no, you could beat me up, Matt. And then as soon as he left the set, you were like,
Starting point is 00:08:38 I could still beat that kid. I've always admitted that I'm a guy that talks behind people's back. I'm not strong enough, and I'm not like mentally strong enough or physically strong enough to like ever combat anyone to their face. When you leave,
Starting point is 00:08:48 I'll talk all the shit I want, and then I'll run. I do respect that you admit that you are a coward and can't talk. I am a coward. I'm not going to get a fight. You think I want to throw a punch at someone? No, but you could say like, no, hey, man, I could definitely beat you up. I will say to the, no, those people weren't really in person either.
Starting point is 00:09:04 I'm sorry to say when Bryson called in or when J.T. called in to the show, you know, you kind of, you stood up for some of your points, but that was on the phone. Yeah. I think you'd hurt yourself if you threw a punch. I don't want you throwing any punches, Frank. I was supposed to go. I threw one punch in my entire life, and it was behind the guy's back. I totally sucker punched him. What was the situation?
Starting point is 00:09:21 Why are you sucker punching people? I sucker punched the shit. I had a guy knocked him out. Well, knocked him to this side. I just remember just punching. It was a very foggy, like hazy night.
Starting point is 00:09:29 My buddy was, we were all at this place called Bedrock. I don't even think it's around anymore. It's like the Hofstra bars. So Hofstra University is right by Borrellys. And it's one of the worst schools to ever go to. I don't know how any, I mean,
Starting point is 00:09:39 Hofstra's probably not going to be happy. I'm saying. But I don't know how. There's going to be an army of Hofstra in your mentions now. I mean, it's a great school, right? Like, it's super expensive.
Starting point is 00:09:47 Like if you're going there for law or like business, it's really good. But my God, there's nowhere to like party. You go to like Borelli's like for karaoke night and stuff. Like there's nothing like there's no like campus life. So they had these bars that are in the middle of Hempstead Long Island, which is just like not the greatest part of town. And we used to go there when we were like 18 and 19 like sneaking into these. Well, not even sneaking in.
Starting point is 00:10:08 You were just allowed to be 18 at these bars. And my buddy like freaking like there was a kid dancing in the middle of all of our group and we're super young and drunk. and my buddy who's like six foot two, six foot four, whatever he is, he's huge. He, like, grabbed the kid's hat because, like, the kid wouldn't get out of our little circle. He was being an asshole drunk. And, like, the guy wouldn't, like, move and he's pushing into us.
Starting point is 00:10:28 And my buddy's like, get out of here, bro. He takes his hat and, like, basically shows him, like, you're, like, a little tiny guy to come and get it. Like, he waves it above his head. And the kid just doesn't even react. Like, he doesn't say anything. He just punches straight up and knocks my buddy's tooth out. Like, like, hit the tooth and the tooth went into the cheek and everything.
Starting point is 00:10:44 Come on, Frank. The guy's still dealing with this shit today. Like, I mean, literally his tooth keeps falling out, like the filling and stuff, like, eight years later. So when that happened, we all were like, oh, my God, our friends, like, bleeding. So I just, like, we all jumped on the guy. And I just remember being from the side and just hitting him, like, from the back. And I don't know if it did anything to him. I don't know if he, like, got not.
Starting point is 00:11:03 I don't know what happened. That's a justified sucker punch. I just remember just punching and then running. I threw a bunch one time. The only fight I ever gotten in hockey was in, was in practice with our goalie. I think that's allowed. Yeah, oh, no, it was my boy Cal Heater, who he and I were boys. But he, you know, I very sarcastic, would love to chirp guys really hard.
Starting point is 00:11:25 He was the same way. And we would do this rookie vet game every Monday. Our head coach was John Cooper, Camp Bay Lighting, not a big deal, great guy. Big time players coach. He's the man. And we do a rookie vet game every Monday. And even though I was one of the older guys on the team, this when I was playing Junior A in St. Louis, St. Louis,
Starting point is 00:11:40 it's national champs, back to back to back. We would do this rookie vet game You know, I was one of the older guys in the team It was my first and only year playing in the league So I was on the rookie team And all my boys, because you know I was older I was tighter with all the older guys We're on the vet team obviously
Starting point is 00:11:55 And the rookie vet game was intense Because the losing team every Monday Had to had to get bag skated for like 30 minutes Which basically just wind sprints like conditioning It was awful Okay So it was really intense And fucking Cal Heater
Starting point is 00:12:08 My boy would always like slash guys In front of the net So I just ran him one time I was getting so pissed up I just fucking ran him. There was like a reb- somebody was like a two-on-two or something going in that hard, chippy puck in front of that. I just fucking no, like no effort to stop.
Starting point is 00:12:20 I just ran him. And he got up and ripped his fucking helmet off. I ripped mine up. We started swinging at each other. He was way taller than I was, so he beat me in the fight. But those are the ones that I've ever really thrown on. Did you connect?
Starting point is 00:12:30 A couple on like, grazed the side of his head. Neither one of us got hit in the face. Like we were kind of like, it was scrappy. I had his jersey at mine. I was trying to fucking. What happened afterwards? Did you guys like?
Starting point is 00:12:38 Yeah, we do a little, uh, We would always make each other during the post-practice stretch. You know, everybody does, you get down, you stretch around the middle circle. We make the two guys who fight dance. Oh, wow. Oh, yeah. So we'd always do like a middle school dance with your hand on each other's hips and stuff. That's great.
Starting point is 00:12:55 I like that. That's really nice. So he's a great guy. I like Cal. And then the only other time I really can recall, like, actually trying to throw punch either at my brother for whatever reason, just because he's my little brother. Or when Dave had me in a headlock on the triple truck. He did throw a couple punches. I was so screwed.
Starting point is 00:13:10 that I was so upset he wouldn't let me go. When he was nouging me, I started throwing punches upwards. I don't think I connected, but I was throwing punches. I was like, how many chances are you going to get to punch Dave Porto? We're at the Boston Bruins versus St. Louis-Blu's Stanley Cup game one. Game one in St. Louis? In Boston, yeah, sorry. Up in the noseble.
Starting point is 00:13:28 Yeah, we were in the nosebleeds, and Dave saw the opportunity that he was going to be on the fucking Jumbo Tron. We all saw this guy coming up the stairs, and I, like, I knew something big was going to happen. I had my phone ready. and Dave saw the opportunity to grab Riggs. He had the height. He had everything, and he just nuggied the shit out of Riggs. And Riggs was flailing around trying to punch up. Honestly, one of the craziest moments in like Barstall history.
Starting point is 00:13:50 It really is. On the Jumbotron. On the Jumbotron. But, I mean, you guys got the last last. I got to say, had it not been for the Blues winning that series, that would be an even, you know, worse moment for me. It would be a defining moment. Definitely.
Starting point is 00:14:01 Right. It could be kind of used as this short clip to be, you know, to represent the Boston Bruins beating the blues and fuck rigs instead when they lose it kind of just goes away for the most part but but yeah that was the only other time i ever really threw punches um what were we talking about punching fighting i don't have i don't know how we got bar still classic like me never punching mafitt's batch oh yeah that's right barstow classic whiskey creek frankie this is your first one that you'd ever been to on friday what'd you think can't stop talking about this event it's an unbelievable event the amount of work that
Starting point is 00:14:31 gets put into it i mean we have people showing up to the golf course at three o'clock in the morning I mean, I'm seeing Snapchat's from like Spider and Daniela and then all these people are like, you guys are all out there and the lights are, I mean, not the lights. The sun is not out. It's literally nighttime and they're at the golf course putting up signage and making sure. What's that big thing in the sky? What's that thing up there? You might know what you call that thing. What is that big ball of fire up there?
Starting point is 00:14:55 Lights up the whole fucking world. The sun, that's it. The sun, yeah. But man, it's a fucking unbelievable event. The fact that I was there. And the fact that I couldn't play in it really sucked because I can't be around this type of competition. I can't be around this type of event where everyone's on the driving range.
Starting point is 00:15:15 You had guys listening to their headphones, listening to music, talking amongst teammates, like talking about strategy. They had a nice grass drive range. The golf course was unreal. Like one of the coolest golf courses I've ever seen. That was my first time I'd ever been there. Most of these courses I've done site visits beforehand.
Starting point is 00:15:29 But only Daniela got to go to that one. I couldn't make it down to D.C. before. And that place was phenomenal. Dude, from the time you drive into the main gates and you're going to park your car, everything is thought about, like, your cart is set up. Everything that they have for you is just so top notch. And just the competition is the thing that blew me away. Like these guys are playing.
Starting point is 00:15:51 It reminded me of like when I was younger, I was playing in like these MET PGA events. And like you played like high school golf. And then you got to play in something that felt more like a pro tournament where like your name was up on a board. And like you got to check like my dad would check the league. leaderboard and they'd always put the scores up and it just made you feel cool you got like a thing for your bag and like everything was like holy shit like i feel like a professional golfer today and this makes you feel it's almost like a simulation makes you feel like you're in a tournament yeah you're on camera yeah you're on camera there's signage and stuff everywhere there's a leaderboard the scoring is official you have to you know you have to have to have to have to have to have at least one member of your two two man team finish every hole you got to put the ball out it's not like that's good this that so it's very real the rule to golf all that it's a very real tournament and it does it does it does kind of to come off like a simulation of like, all right, if we play well and we advance here, you know, we go to this course that's literally this week now holding a PGA tour event, Liberty National. That's where you get to go October 15th.
Starting point is 00:16:45 You get to play for $10,000 cash, which would be like, you know, that'll change a lot of people's year and all that, adding 10 grand to their squad and whatnot. So it is. And there's more chances to win money than I thought going in. You can win $750 putting. You can win $750 for what? Closest to the pin. And then another one for what was it, the skins?
Starting point is 00:17:04 So skins, yeah. That confused me. What is that, what is that now? Skins is, and there's different ways to do it. The way we do it, it's just gross skins. So essentially everybody has the option to put in 20 bucks per person, and almost everybody does it. Half the proceeds go to the charity of that tournament. So we've had a lot of different charities.
Starting point is 00:17:20 You know, we had a shelter charity that at the Whiskey Creek event. We've had a couple different shelters that we've, we had the Headstrong project who does mental health for veterans at the Foxwoods event. So we do a different, we partner with the different charity each one. 50% of the proceeds go to the charity and 50% go to skins. The way he grows skins works is basically you go through all the holes in the course, and any hole that there's one person who made the lowest score in the entire field, they win a skin. So it's pretty much going to have to be an eagle or a birdie on a really hard hole.
Starting point is 00:17:51 And the last three stops, I believe, there's only been two skins. And there's been, I think, $880 in the pot or something like that. So each skin winner has won $440. Damn. Yeah. So I think at this last one, there was an eagle on 18, maybe. or an eagle on nine, and then there was a birdie on like the third hole, which is a really hard part three. And yeah, so if you win a skin, you know, you win, you win a, obviously a pretty good amount of money.
Starting point is 00:18:17 So there's a lot of ways to win money. It's just such a cool event. I'm not even just saying that to pump our own tires. Like if you're in an area that there's not a Barstall classic yet, because this is just the first year of it, just keep your eyes open, keep listening to foreplay from when we announced the expansion of this damn thing. because this thing is unreal. I love it. And you notice how I didn't say unbelievable there? I had a guy come up to me.
Starting point is 00:18:39 I had a guy come out to me. He goes, Frankie, you know, he was kind of straight forward with me. He goes, I'm not the biggest Frankie Brewery guy. And I think he had a couple. So that's a couple. He goes, he got a couple trullies in him. So he sat down. I was at the table when this was happening.
Starting point is 00:18:49 He said, I respect you guys show. But, you know, sometimes I'm not the biggest Frankie Breyer guy. I think that there was some, I think there was some, you know, hockey undertones to it. I felt like he may have been like a Pittsburgh penguin fan or something that, you know, I've pissed off a lot of people in my short time here at Barstle. And I love that. That's what makes me wake up in the morning. And he's like,
Starting point is 00:19:06 the only thing that really gets under my skin is every time you say unbelievable. He goes, you say it so much. And I was like, all right. Like, maybe I do. Maybe that's just like a,
Starting point is 00:19:13 instead of saying like, I just say unbelievable, right? So listen to this. I didn't even tell you this. I had the best fucking comeback for this guy. Maybe it's not the best. I'm probably like whatever. But anyway,
Starting point is 00:19:23 uh, we did this putting contest and no one could hit the fucking put. It was such a hard, not that hard looking of a pup, but like everyone was, like everyone was missing this putting contest putt. It was just a little left to right, kind of went up the hill. I don't even know.
Starting point is 00:19:33 What was it, 20 feet? Maybe. And it was genuinely, when we put it up, I thought this is going to be the easiest one by far. I were 15 or 20 people would make it. You said that.
Starting point is 00:19:41 We had five people made it. Yeah, five people ended up making it. But at one point, I knocked in four putts in a row. Incredible. And it was one of the craziest moments of my life. Like, I just kept draining this putt.
Starting point is 00:19:51 I'm like, one, two, two, nobody could make it all day and you made four. And they just kept falling in and I was walking it off, whatever. And we're walking up to the putting contest, the final putting contest, and everyone's around the 18th green. It's such a cool scene.
Starting point is 00:20:04 And we're all getting ready. We all of our drinks in our hand. And I hear the guy. And I'm walking up to the green. And I hear the guy going, man, that put was impossible up there. And someone goes, Frankie knocked in four to the guy. And I walked by. And this is the guy who said he doesn't like when I say unbelievable.
Starting point is 00:20:17 I'm like, dude, you should have seen it. It was unbelievable. And I looked at him. And I gave him a little wink. And he's like, so he came over to me and gave me a handhake. He's like, that was pretty good. He's like, you know, no disrespect for that. but that was pretty funny.
Starting point is 00:20:28 That felt good to get that final just like stab in the throat. I was just like, I got you. You got it. I got you. There were also rumors swirling around that people didn't want to touch you because they didn't want to get the butter knives. That was unbelievable. I mean, we're on the T-box. We're on the driving engine.
Starting point is 00:20:41 People are looking at me like I had a disease. I mean, they're like, dude, we're teeing off in 10 minutes. Like, just go back into the pro shop. Go back and go get yourself a bagel. Don't come near us. We're trying to win and go to Liberty National. Like, you're just looking at us, and I can feel already my hands trembling. This one guy wouldn't give me a handshake.
Starting point is 00:20:58 He's like, I could feel all my hands already trembling that I'm going to hit butter and eyes. Man, that's tough. I didn't know it was that serious. I thought I was doing a little bit on Twitter. No, it was real. It was just rumblings. We're going down. Oh, there's Frankie.
Starting point is 00:21:09 It was Frankie. Everyone just don't look at him. Like I was the snake in Harry Potter that I felt like you looked at me. You got petrified. Yep. You freeze and be eaten by the snake. Speaking of which, I'm going to the Harry Potter play on Sunday. Ooh.
Starting point is 00:21:22 I just got tickets that just popped out of nowhere because my bird. birthday's coming up, not to plug anything. So it's kind of Frankie Brelly birthday week next week. Not to plug your own birthday week. You mean you're plugging your own birthday week? I mean, what are you, an Instagram model? You know, it's just coming up, you know? When is it?
Starting point is 00:21:38 It's August 13th. It's not that big of a deal, though. It's just my 26th, you know? It's a special year. Why? I don't know. I just, it's Frankie Brelly's fucking 26. Why you mean so weird about your birthday?
Starting point is 00:21:48 Because it's like, something magic happened? No, I like my birthday. I don't know. My birthday's coming out. Are you, you're a birthday guy? You like? I enjoy my birthday. I do.
Starting point is 00:21:55 I can tell. Yeah. Holy shit. I got a glow to you right now. You're not even within a week and you can't stop talking about it. I can't stop thinking about going to Harry Potter. It's a two-part play. You go at two o'clock and then you go back at seven.
Starting point is 00:22:07 It's like a five-hour play. How many people do you think don't make it back to that second part? I think people said it's the best play you'll go to. There's like magic that happens and you can't not know what happens in the second half. Really? Are you a big play guy? I am one for the theatrics. Yeah, you're a theater guy.
Starting point is 00:22:22 I cried at what? I am one. What did you say? am one for the theatrics i fucking cried at jimmy fallon not because of the content that was happening at jimmy phallon is because of the way he walked out and you know the roots were blaring quest love was just jamming that fucking snare drum and i was like holy shit i'm gonna start crying right now you cried at a pup punk yet um you know i actually did almost tear up at the first pup punk at irving plaza when the lights were like we did a really cool intro yeah and everything was pitch black
Starting point is 00:22:52 we snuck up on the drum set everyone snuck up onto the fucking stage and no one knew we were up there it was pitch black and then like a beam of light hit me and the crowd went nuts and that was like my first entering the simulation of the fake life that is pop punk like you're on a stage you have two levels
Starting point is 00:23:09 worth of people it looks like you're looking out to the guitar like a guitar hero set where like the crowd's going nuts and then I hit a drum and I was just like oh man that was pretty cool but no I don't usually cry during that all right there's only one apparel company that I really like to talk about because there's really only one apparel company that does it better than everybody else.
Starting point is 00:23:28 That's Peter Millar. Shorts, pants, quarter zips, polos, hats, shoes, everything. They just, nobody does it better. I actually, I spent the whole day Saturday walking around Washington, D.C., that place is a swamp. Literally, it's a swamp. Like, they just, they took a swamp, and they built the capital of America right in the middle of it. And I rocked pants all day because we were going doing nice things, right? Going to White House, going to a capital building.
Starting point is 00:23:53 I don't want to be standing. What if I happen to be like in the Oval Office? I get a picture. I'm just in your shorts. Shorts are childish. Shorts are childish. This is a great segment for you. And so I'm rocking my Peter Mollar, EB-66, five-pocket performance pants.
Starting point is 00:24:07 Wow. I'm rocking a Peter Milar polo, moisture wicking. And I was rocking also my Peter Milar boat shoes that I forgot I had for like the last year. No socks. No socks. I was rocking no socks. Walked around and the heat, sweating all day long. No socks.
Starting point is 00:24:22 No socks. I couldn't have been more comfortable, man. I have something to say about that shirt that you were wearing. You and I were wearing the same Peter Malar shirt in two different events on the same day. Come on. I went out to dinner. I had like a big dinner with some family, the girlfriend's family. I'm like, I have to wear a nice outfit.
Starting point is 00:24:37 It's a really nice place. Showed up. I had this like it's, what is it? What would you call it? Salmon colored. Salmon colored Peter Malar, thinnest piece of fabric you'll ever feel, but doesn't reveal anything. You can't see the nips underneath.
Starting point is 00:24:51 You can't see the gut. It's nice. It's got a nice little pocket. It's loose. I wore it untucked. It felt great. It was great. It was great.
Starting point is 00:24:57 I wore that with jeans. That's why I rock it, man. Yeah. It avoids the features I'm trying to kind of hide. Yeah. It kind of, you can't see them. And then it highlights the features I like.
Starting point is 00:25:05 You know, it's nice in the arms makes it look like a little definition of a muscle. Looks classy. You know what I love? You wash it. You wash it. It holds its neck. Dude.
Starting point is 00:25:14 And honestly, you may be listening to this and be like, whatever. It's a sponsor. Like, they're just the best clothing brand of all time. True. That's like we, that's all I wear now.
Starting point is 00:25:23 Man, Peter Marr boys are in the office today. We had a whole meeting with them about we're going to forecast this, you know, we want them to kind of fully take over for Barstool Golf merch. You want to come out with like different lines, different seasonal and all this and that. I had a goddamn hard on the whole time. I'm thinking, are you, we're going to be able to create our own fall Peter Malar line, our own spring, Peter Malar line. And if it's a little more expensive, it's because it's nicer and it's better quality.
Starting point is 00:25:47 That's just how these things work. That's just how the world works. Yep. You spend a little more to get. Dude, when someone gets a Peter Milar, quarter-zips, shirt, pants, like they're like, you literally saying, ooh, and ah, it's crazy. And you get so many compliments. Their moisture wicking, which you need this time of year.
Starting point is 00:26:02 Golfery wants to look great and feel great. Peter Milar.com slash 4. You get complimentary shipping. You get a free hat. They got lightweight stuff, two-way stretch, wrinkle resistant. It's our favorite stuff. It has been long since long before we ever did any deals with Peter Milar. Petermalar.com slash four.
Starting point is 00:26:19 go get yourself the most elite apparel in the business. So Barstool Classic, we had a team flew in from Canada. We just kept calling them Team Canada. And, you know, a big part of the reasons they also wore matching hats that just said Canada on them. That's just good indicator. Yep. It didn't have like their home city, their home, you know, province or whatever the hell they call them up there. It was just Canada.
Starting point is 00:26:43 And they were great, dude. They were awesome. We ran into them like 10 times on the golf course and they were, I mean, they're good players too. They were good players. They were great people, just like you would expect from Canada. They were super friendly, super nice. They'd come in. They'd flown in like Wednesday and taken the two or three days off works.
Starting point is 00:26:58 They did Thursday practice round at Whiskey Creek, which big shout out to Whiskey Creek. They gave discounts to participants of the tournament to play practice rounds, which is really cool. Almost every group we talked to, and Frankie and I were just driving around a cart trying to meet everybody. And it was actually stunning how many people did the practice round. I had to stop people and say, all right, now what the hell is going on? Like every person we asked, oh, like, how do you like the golf course? So, like, it's super nice. You know, they're rolling the greens a little more than yesterday to the practice round.
Starting point is 00:27:24 I was like, what? After the sixth person that said that, I said, what happened yesterday? Because did I not get the memo on the practice round? So they go, no, they give it to us for like basically nothing. Very cool move by Whiskey Creek. They gave everybody that played an option to have a discounted practice round, which is cool. So the Canada boys, man, they came in. They came in Wednesday.
Starting point is 00:27:41 They had a whole day Thursday. They obviously played in the tournament all day Friday. and then they did like a whole little weekend in D.C. It had a great time. At the last one, we had people that came in from Idaho, people that came up from North Carolina. So people were traveling. There were a couple other folks who came in from long distance for Whiskey Creek, too,
Starting point is 00:27:56 that I can't remember because everything's kind of blending together. But anyways, Barstow Classic. Very good time. You guys had to do your Riggsverse video, which is just Frankie and Trentverse because it was so good on the 18th hole with a huge gallery. One of the most nerve-wracking shots in my life. It's going to come out, what, Wednesday, Jake? Thursday this week, it'll be out.
Starting point is 00:28:13 And that is going to be. One of the all-time. Let me tell you something about this 18th hole at Whiskey Creek. The 18th hole at Whiskey Creek has a little broken-down house in the middle of the fairway. And what they said was, there's a whole story behind it that's basically ruins. Like this just old cobblestone and stone building that's just decayed and fallen apart. And they said that it used to be a whiskey distillery during the prohibition days. And what they would do is they would take the barrels of whiskey and behind the house, they'd roll it down the hill.
Starting point is 00:28:42 It'd go into the creek, hence the name, Whiskey Creek. and it would go on its way and then whoever would pick it up, whatever. Prohibition era, crazy shit was happening. They left these ruins in the middle of the fairway. And I guess they've chosen at this golf course to make that essentially a tree. So you cannot take the ball away. You don't get relief from it. If you hit this house, which is in the most landing area, a thing could possibly be in.
Starting point is 00:29:04 It's like two, from the blue T's like 255 to the middle of this house right in the middle of the fairway. So no matter what club you hit, if you roast a three wood, you're still maybe going to hit it or roll into it. If you hit a driver, you're probably going to fly right into it. Like, no matter what you hit off this, and it's a par five. So you want to take a big club off the T. Anyway, we're on the T-box. Riggs is down. We're like, all right, we're not going to be doing it with Riggs.
Starting point is 00:29:25 We're doing it with us, too. Riggs was with all the players in the clubhouse. So we're like, all right, we're going to get this thing done. I took a three-wood because I've been smashing the fucking shit out of my three-wood. Trent, tell him about my three-wit. We did a range session just right before we went and played the 18th hole. Oh, don't think we didn't see you sneak over that rain. Oh, we did.
Starting point is 00:29:42 Oh, we saw that. I'm not trying to pump his tires, but the way he's hitting that three wood is it's astronomical. It's going much further than my driver. It's insane. I'm just coming through the ball like you wouldn't believe. Whatever. So I'm on this tee box. I'm like, I'm going to fuck.
Starting point is 00:29:54 I knew exactly where he was going to hit it. I'm going to draw one over the house to the right of it. I'm going to have a perfect 200-yard shot onto the green over the creek. It's going to be an unbelievable shot. No one even cares about what I'm going to be doing because no one's watching us. They're all drinking in the clubhouse. So I'm just going to cruise right through. Yeah, we're having Trullies in the clubhouse.
Starting point is 00:30:09 Hit my drive. Perfect. Draw over the house to the right. I get up to the ball. I'm like 2.15 away. I'm looking at it. All right. So now I have a nice shot.
Starting point is 00:30:18 We look back at Trent. How did you do, Trent? I hit it really well. Right down the middle. Right down the middle. But like you were saying, that's a difficult spot because there is an old distillery right in the way. So I hit it very well and I bombed it in the middle of the fairway, but I was right in front of the ruins. And as that's happening, there starts that you can hear murmurs down by the green.
Starting point is 00:30:38 And if you kind of poke your head to the around the ruins a little bit, there is an entire gallery of people. headed by our guy Riggs out there. And that really, and it really turns up the pressure. And I will say, I know that we played that hole. I was there. I remember bits and pieces of it. But as soon as I saw that crowd, I'm pretty sure I blacked out.
Starting point is 00:30:55 And then what happened after my drive is very spotty. And you'll have to watch the video to see the way this ends up. I mean, that is the perfect tease because you're going to want to see what Trent Daddy ended up doing with this gallery. I mean, I'll tell you right now, I was feeling so confident. I was like, dude, I'm going to make this. I'm going to make an eagle here today. Like I'm in prime position right now to hit this green I felt so, so confident
Starting point is 00:31:17 And then all of a sudden like 50 guys All pulled chairs around And then could have been 500 I'll just say like I immediately changed my club Like everything just changed Like the whole my heart was pumping so hard That I felt it in my back and in my neck I started getting like a migraine
Starting point is 00:31:32 I don't know how these professional golfers do My face was so hot I just felt heat on my face Man you could sense it down on that green with that gower You could tell like the whole mood You guys Frankie went back to his bagger a couple times. You guys were like jittery. You're talking to each other. We were like, oh, they are raffles.
Starting point is 00:31:46 Every time we do these rigs versus, it's fun. It's us three just out there. Like when we did it at Paso tempo. You're just out there in the middle of nowhere. There's nobody on the course. Usually. In a rounds, you're playing kind of well. You know how to hit it. Yeah, you're in the groove. Here, we just, we had a little bit of a range session, but other than that, we hadn't played. And then you just got a gallery on the 18th hole. You got to hit it over water.
Starting point is 00:32:04 It's a par five. You got to watch the video. It's really something. It's a great hole. Great looking hole. It's a nice hole. Barstow classics. tomorrow the Philly stop. Fillmont Country Club will be there on Tuesday all day. So if you're getting ready, if you're playing on that, maybe you're driving on the course, listen to this right now, get jacked up. It's going to be a lot of fun.
Starting point is 00:32:21 That'll be our fifth one. We're getting close. We're rolling right along the tour. This is kind of the, you know, this is the heat, heated up intense part of the tour. We've got to do a bunch of back-to-backs of these things. So Barstall classics rolling on. Let's get through some headlines here, folks. We're going to start with Thorborn Olison, who's, of course, a European Rider
Starting point is 00:32:40 Cup guy. Yeah. He had an incident on a plane. An incident's a good way to put it. He had a bad, bad day. Arrested for sexually assaulting a sleeping woman, urinating on a plane during a flight. It said the 29-year-old man was arrested on Monday for the things that I just mentioned,
Starting point is 00:32:57 along with urinating in an aisle while drunk, multiple reports out of London have identified the man as European rider-couper Thorburn. Olson, I think it's how you say it, Thorbjorn. Bold news outlets reported that the five-time European tour winner allegedly molested the woman while she was asleep in first class, then became involved in an argument with other passengers on the flight, causing failure Pientor pro Ian Poulter, who was also on the flight to intervene. Some reported that it spoke to Poulter's agent, who said the Englishman went to sleep after attempting
Starting point is 00:33:27 to play peacemaker with Olison and the passengers as he'd become verbally abusive. While Poulter was sleeping, the Dane continued to be a disruption on the flight. A quote goes on to say that he, Ollison, started abusing some of the pastors and crew, and made it pass at one of the female passengers before taking a leak in the aisle. And eyewitness said it was shocking behavior. You would expect it maybe on a budget airline like American Airlines, but not in the first class cabin on British Airways, which is what I believe this was.
Starting point is 00:33:56 I like that little shot at other airlines. I had not read that quote until just that moment. What a strange thing. Like, yeah, maybe on other airlines people are sexually assaulting and pissing in the aisles. But not on British Airways. No, no, no. That's a strange time to take a shot at other airline. obviously a very serious situation
Starting point is 00:34:13 Ian Polter got involved tried to intervene tried to get the guy to stop doing what he was doing Ian Polter falls asleep He got too tired He's like He must be like
Starting point is 00:34:22 I'm tired of dealing with this guy I'm gonna go to sleep Seems like we got it all calm down Nope the guy whips out His dick takes piss in the aisle That's I mean I don't know what else to say about it The guy went on an absolute rampage
Starting point is 00:34:31 I mean I don't know I don't know what the hell happened to him I don't know if something snapped I don't know if this is He's had prior behavior Where this is you know This is just what Thorbjorn
Starting point is 00:34:40 does Which is that name is a mouthful. But it's stunning. I mean, when we were at the, we were at Whiskey Creek for the Barstall Classic and someone mentioned it to us like, hey, see that professional golf, it took a piss and, like, sexually assaulted someone on a plane? I was like, what did you just say? I was like, what, what just happened? It's a terrible story.
Starting point is 00:34:58 It's an unbelievably terrible story. You're thinking when that guy came to us, we're like, oh, it's probably some, just nobody who's not, not anybody. He's a 64th rank player in the world. Yeah. He's like, or he's a real, he's the real guy. He's a real name. Like, you know the name. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:35:10 Yeah, it was stunning. When you saw it in all the details and all that, obviously nobody anywhere, even if you are on one of these budget airlines. That eye witness is just, it was shocking behavior. You would expect it maybe on a budget airline. Why would you expect that on a budget airline? Never have I got on a budget airline be like, all right, keep those eyes peeled because anything could happen. All right. Now, since we're on American Airlines, guys, you might get molested or somebody might piss on you.
Starting point is 00:35:38 Just be ready. That's not like, what is? What is that quote from this person? Tough, tough day for Thorburn. You would expect it maybe on a budget airline, but not in the first class cabin on BA. Wow. Reports said that police were waiting for Olson at the flight's arrival gate where they eventually arrested him and took him in for questioning. They later confirmed that he was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault, being drunk on board an aircraft and failing to comply with the orders of cabin crew.
Starting point is 00:36:03 So again, just kind of a shocking story, had to bring it up. Not good. Not good at all. Hope everybody's, you know, okay. and that that's handled the best way that it can be. I got to talk about the Women's British Open yesterday. Man, this was awesome. This was absolutely phenomenal.
Starting point is 00:36:19 One of the great stories in several years. In golf, you know, outside of obviously Tiger Woods winning the Masters. But this young, young Japanese woman, she's only 20 years old, rookie, first time playing outside of Japan. Okay? First time playing outside of Japan. She just doesn't play outside of Japan. She's 20 years old. She can't even drink legally in the United States of America, you know.
Starting point is 00:36:39 she goes over there she's playing lights out they're calling her the smiling cinderella because she's she's something to do with cinderella i couldn't smiling cinderella that's nice so apparently the japanese media deemed her the smiling cinderella i like that there was all these stories she had a lead going into sunday in the final round she's the final group of course there were um a bunch of reports that a bunch of japanese media booked flights saturday night because they were like oh okay she's having a good week whatever like she'll blow up saturday night she's in the final group she's leading the golf term a bunch of japanese media they book flights they panic they get there to cover her final round.
Starting point is 00:37:12 She doubles like one of the first holes in the front night, maybe a third or fourth hole. She kind of has a whole episode around the green, doubles it. You're thinking like, all right, here she goes. She's 20 years old. She's going to collapse. A bunch of names up in the mix. A bunch of names up in the mix.
Starting point is 00:37:22 A bunch of big names and the heavyweight names in the women's golf world. Hanako Shibuno, that's her name. She comes down the stretch. She makes a bunch of birdies in the back nine to get herself back in the tournament. She's co-leader. She's tied for the lead with Lizette Salas on the 72nd hole. It's like a 430 yard par 4 or something. You know, this is women's golf, right?
Starting point is 00:37:43 That's a pretty fucking serious hole. Yep. Rips driver down the middle, hits a six iron to like 15 feet. She gets up there. By the way, she plays lightning fast. I mean, she plays faster, Brooks Kepka. Cameras can't even cut to her in time. She's just hitting her shot.
Starting point is 00:37:56 It's fucking awesome. Gets up there on the 70s second hole. She's got like a 15-footer from Bertie. And they're, you know, they always like to set the scene. They like to go to different camera angles. They like to pan around and show. They don't have time to do any of that. They cut to the green.
Starting point is 00:38:08 she's just putting to win the British Open they just cut to her real quick she's putting in a time to save fucking anything Drano she hits a missile this thing's going a legend 10 feet past the hole at least when she hit it I actually thought oh my god and then it's they had that side angle that we hate whenever they show it tiger and he misses it you know they had that angle so you couldn't see it all of a sudden the ball just disappeared hits the bag of the hole goes in she's kind of like just smiling like oh great I just almost like shocked her that she won it was awesome It was absolutely crazy, and she plays lightning fast.
Starting point is 00:38:40 Very, very, very cool finish. If you didn't see it, go check out the highlights from the Women's British Open. Lady Golf delivers, man. Your passion for Lady Golf is infectious. It just delivers, dude. They just deliver the drama's great. They're so into it. They're a lot more accessible.
Starting point is 00:38:54 So, like, in their interviews, you know, you get a lot more, like all the stuff Danielle Kang's given us. It's just, you know, I'm very into it. We had, so anyways, it was something. It was special. Go check it out. a big congratulations to Hanako Shibuno. That's her name. Japanese, 20 years old, now a major champion.
Starting point is 00:39:12 First time playing outside of Japan, which I don't even know how that's possible. Dude wipes. All right. I got to say, they're dude wipes, you know, which Lurch and I ran out a toilet paper a couple weeks ago. And we're just kind of, you know, two of us, we live together, whatever. And we, you know, we're a couple of single guys in the city and we're just dumb about that kind of stuff. I looked in, I had like three stacks of the dude wives. I'll never go back.
Starting point is 00:39:35 you're a change man how you're gonna wipe your bum with just regular old crap other stuff and you can use dude wives to do it instead you gotta you gotta combat something that's a little moist with something else that's moist that's how cleaning stuff works you know going at it with something dry just doesn't cut it anymore it's year 2019 don't say oh man this is the business we're in the duty business all right all right doing going after wet what dry you can't you're basically just spreading it it's crazy think about just think about when you have a mess, when you have a mess on a, on, on, on like a dish or maybe your counter, right? And it's like all this gook and this, and it's, let's say you got chili on the counter, right?
Starting point is 00:40:16 And you're wiping up this chili with a dry napkin and it's just like mushing all the chili all over the place. You take a wet nap or you maybe take a sponge or something that's wet. It wipes right up. It's like it was never even there. The best part was, you're making a lot of good points. I will say. You really reeled me back in with that. Frankie slap tread on the shoulder as he was making that point.
Starting point is 00:40:34 You know, you know, you know, I'm talking about. Metre? I know exactly what you're talking about. I mean, dude wipes just gets it done. Why attack wet with dry? Why? I gotta tell you. I love their face wipes, maybe even more than their dude wipes because in the summertime, man, I'm sunscreening up, right? My whole face is all sunscreen, sweat, pores are a disaster. I want to go sit to the 19th hole or I got to drive home maybe an hour, maybe an hour and a half because we live in New York and it sucks and you can't get around anywhere. I got to clean my face right off and I just whip these little dew white that come in that, the technology they got in these things too where you can just pull one out of a time yeah it's a little
Starting point is 00:41:09 it's amazing so i love the face wipes the powder lurch loves the powder we already went over a whole situation last night just got the powder up you know you just throw those ankles by the ears boys legs up and you just go to town dude products dot com you're going to get 20% off with promo code rigs 20 all right you go to dude products dot com 20% off promo code rigs 20 rigs 20 20% off dude products dot com. Big shout out to our good friend Gary Woodland, US Open champ, his wife gave birth to identical twins. Yep, I saw that.
Starting point is 00:41:43 Congratulations to them. He tweeted out. Best part is Jacks doesn't realize our identical twin girls will be coming home soon. Gabby and I welcome Maddox and Lennox into this world yesterday. So big shout out to Gary Woodland. We had him obviously in studio two days after winning the US Open. Very cool interview. If you missed that one, love Gary Woodland.
Starting point is 00:42:01 Super nice dude. J.T. Poston wins on the PGA Tour. He's a guy, him and his cat here are supposed to be total beauties. He's been following me on Twitter for a long time. Oh. I see you call this guy the postman? The postman. Is that his nickname?
Starting point is 00:42:14 That's his nickname, the postman. Did you make that up or is that what it is? It's actually his Twitter handle is the Postman. That's a great nickname. It's kind of a no-brainer. It is a no-brainer. Yeah. I'm Carl Malone, the Postman.
Starting point is 00:42:27 Yeah. He's the postman of golf. Yeah. man postman quite different not different but different in terms of different words they're just different words yeah uh j t posting wins on the pg8 door uh very cool to do it he had tweeted out one of my favorite little things he had tweeted out right before this tournament started on july 31st had a lot of fun this season time to hashtag play better this week at the wind of championship ready to make a big push in the playoffs thanks for all the support along the way uh and then he goes out wins so anybody who tweets that
Starting point is 00:42:57 and backs it up with a win very very cool car malone was called the mailman because he always delivered. That's legit. That's right, yeah. It's unreal. They should call it lady off that. They should call it the U.S. Postal Service?
Starting point is 00:43:11 Yeah, because it just always delivers. Wow. You might, I mean, the LPGA might use that. Just change it. Although,
Starting point is 00:43:18 I don't think people know the U.S. Postal Service is always delivering. Maybe call it FedEx or something. Yeah. It doesn't Mike Portnoy, Dave's dad, like have a problem with the U.S.
Starting point is 00:43:26 Postal Service? Doesn't he say they always burn his mail? Yeah, they burn his mail. They gave him the cupboard the little mailbox. at the bottom left we can't get into it.
Starting point is 00:43:33 Never since someone have so much problem Oh man there's a video of Mike Portnoy trying to get that that mailbox open and it is a good time.
Starting point is 00:43:39 That's one of the first days of Barstool, the cousins on Barstool Radio and he made that video he had his little intern guy there wherever the hell his name was. Ryan, I think,
Starting point is 00:43:48 who filmed him going to this mailbox and he tried to explain it to us on the radio for weeks. You don't get it. My mailbox, you can't get into it. It's in like the bottom left and was like,
Starting point is 00:43:57 sure enough. They put his mailbox in the worst imaginable spot in this gigantic, take wall of mailboxes on the bottom left like on the ground he fucking can't get into his mailbox mike portnoy's something i know this is inside basically if you don't listen to barcel radio you don't know but i host the cousins now as well and he did another show just a week ago in a car with no doors going 80 miles per hour and before that he walked us through how he was
Starting point is 00:44:23 packing the car it's just there's no show like it on serious xm there really isn't man there really is nothing like it i host that show for a long time now trint daddy hosted a lot along with Smitty. So it's a, it's a show. You got to check it out. Liberty National, hosting the Northern Trust this week. The boys are in town.
Starting point is 00:44:41 Kiz is right around here. He's been in city. You know, it's Liberty National. It's right across the harbor there. It's in Jersey City. The President's Cup was just there two years ago. Trent Daddy and I were out there for that. We had,
Starting point is 00:44:50 that was pre-Frankie. It was before Frankie was on the show. Yep. We had, that was when we did, we had Charlie Hoffman, Kevin Chappell and Kevin Kisner on the show with the exact same time. We went to 30 Rock.
Starting point is 00:45:02 We went to 30 Rock. Were you guys that tight with him? No. I mean, we were a little bit tight with kids at the time, but the other guys we even know. Nope, that was the first time we'd met them. Crazy looking back now, how comfortable you'd be in that scenario. Oh, my God. Those are like our three, our boys.
Starting point is 00:45:15 Yeah. We also, while we were at 30 Rock, we snuck on to the SNL set. You remember that? Oh, you would have been Waterworks, Frankie. I remember the picture of that where you guys were walking around. I almost couldn't believe I was there. We got done interviewing them. In 30 Rock, we were in the part of the building where,
Starting point is 00:45:31 it's actually just offices. So you think you're going to 30 Rock. You're going to see all these crazy things that show business. We were just in an office. And then afterwards, we were walking out. And we just ducked into this little room. And right in front of us was the SNL set. What the hell were those three guys doing at 30 Rock?
Starting point is 00:45:45 I mean, I know Charlie Hoffman, been like kids in Chapel. It's just now knowing them just seems funny that like. It's a good question. I want to say they were doing other media hits, you know, and somehow tied to, you know, NBC or something. Because, yeah, I don't know why that we were there. But they said, you know, somebody had hooked it up. some PR'd hooked it up and was like hey you want to do an interview with these three yep great okay
Starting point is 00:46:04 come to 30 rock to do it like what we just did it and then afterwards those guys were bombing around looking around obviously kids doing his thing and uh next thing you knew that we were just on the s and l set it was crazy it was absolutely crazy but liberty national that's of course the site of the uh october 15 barstool classic championship will be there so crazy that you got that it's insane i don't understand i don't either it's really really cool the fact that people get to play and one of the most relatable things you see said all week last week, Frankie, was on Friday. I think eight seconds into being at the Barso Classic, you're like, it's insane that we don't
Starting point is 00:46:35 get to play in this. It really is. How are we going to not just play in this? I said to Trent the entire time, I can't believe we're not like hitting drives here. This is just not good. And when you factor in that if you do well and finish inside the top six at any of the venues, you get to go play at Liberty National for a huge trophy, it's great. President's Cup.
Starting point is 00:46:53 President's Cup. They've had a few different PGA tour events. They're having another one this week. It's Northern Trust. Out at Liberty National, it's going to be a ton of fun. Delicious track, as some would say. There you go. Quite delicious. I was out there actually a couple weeks ago.
Starting point is 00:47:06 We went out, spent the day with my boy Nems. We played actually 45 holes. Wow. That's what we did in one day. Wow. 45 holes. You know, it was his birthday coming up. He just wanted to keep playing.
Starting point is 00:47:17 We were having a couple of drinks. It was perfect weather. You know, I was also, I was doubling it with like a little site visit. We filmed the Riggs verse out there. So it was just a great little day at Liberty National. But I got to tell you, you know, there's some places. Trent Ann. I'd talk about Blue Jack National a lot.
Starting point is 00:47:31 Some places where you go and it's just fun. I love Blue Jack so much. You know? Yeah. This is one of those places? This is one of those places. Really? Some places are stuffy or, you know,
Starting point is 00:47:40 they just make you feel like you're walking on eggshells a little bit. You don't want to do anything wrong, this, that. Man, Liberty National, you're just there to have fun. From the outside looking in, you would think that this is one of the more upbeat, stuffy places in the world. It's not. With, like, their glass clubhouse and, like, you would think that they'd want to see your bank account just to enter the premises.
Starting point is 00:47:58 But all they want to see is, like your drink order. That's, you let us know what you want. It is super fun. We were out there again, 45 holes. You got carts. They got this little halfway. They got cards out there?
Starting point is 00:48:08 Oh, yeah. You cart all day. I have the total wrong. Like, Frankie. The cards got like the perfect GPS. We took a four caddy with us. He just jumped on the back of the card in between holes. He was shooting the shit with us.
Starting point is 00:48:19 We were going by the, we were going by the shack. You know, every like four or five holes you go by the little turn shack thing they got. We were getting drinks every damn time. We're getting a new transfusion, a little snack. It was just so fun. It was just so much fun out there. And now... Statue of Liberty is just like in the background.
Starting point is 00:48:34 Statue of Liberty is just in the background. You've got the city views. You can see, you know, freedom tower. All that's just like the whole time. It's just like in the background while you're playing out there. So now the fact that they're having a PGA tour event there this week at Liberty National is very, very cool. It's a great spot. We're going to talk a little bit about the Northern Trust because it's the beginning of the playoffs.
Starting point is 00:48:53 There's only three events now. Crazy to think I just thought of this. I was just reminded us that they're working. going to have that in two weeks when they go to uh east lake a if tiger qualifies he's going to be a defending champ which is cool and b they're going to have that thing where the leaders tease off like tenant oh shit oh man i didn't even think about that we had a big discussion about that when that news news first broke you and i don't care they're still doing that or did they like did they quietly just say maybe people forgot about that is a good question like they could have they could
Starting point is 00:49:27 just pop up in two weeks and be like all right It's just normal because everyone in the backlash was so strong. We were so hands on that. That makes this Northern Trust so much more. Huge. Important. Huge. You get out to a good lead.
Starting point is 00:49:38 Imagine you just start the tournament 10 under par? What is that? That makes no sense. I can't believe you're doing it. The guy in seconds is just going to start like eight under. Yeah. And then another next guy at six. And I think there's a couple people at four, a couple people with three,
Starting point is 00:49:51 a couple people at two. And then a bunch of people just started fucking even part. One of the all-time bad ideas that they're apparently putting into play. You think that they, because they probably put that into place before Tiger won last year. Oh, yeah. You think they're regretting that now? Like seeing that, like, a guy like Tiger Woods can show up and then just win that thing and how big it can be, just when like a random person, like, not random, but a random position in the FedEx rankings can now win,
Starting point is 00:50:17 as opposed to whoever just won the weeks before now just starts off with 10. I mean, think about this. Last year at the East Lake of the Tour championship, they had what very well could be the most iconic moment in the history of PGA tour, right, outside of major championships. Yeah. In the history of just regular PGA tour events, they had probably the most iconic moment in the history of the PGA tour. What was Tyler?
Starting point is 00:50:39 And now that just can't happen. Like that, that would have just not happened. I would love to go back and put the, what they're going to do now onto that tournament and see what are things would have shipped away. Yeah, would Tiger be like 12 strokes back going into it? Like, whatever position he was in.
Starting point is 00:50:52 I won. Yeah. It wasn't in first, right? So, like, it wasn't in first at all. He's in like 26. Yeah. So Tiger B, like, 12 strokes. back and then just never have a chance.
Starting point is 00:51:01 It's so stupid. How stupid is this? Anyways, that all begins this week. There's only three events now. There's the Northern Trust, then there's the BMW, and then there's the Tour Championship because they got rid of the Boston event. This one, which is, of course, at Liberty National this week, will rotate between, I think, like, New York, Philly, and Boston.
Starting point is 00:51:21 So every three or four years you're going to get it in Boston, something like that. But they got rid of the Boston event, which is out at TBC Boston, which is a really, really cool event. Very sad. We used to go there at college all the time. Very sad that one's gone now. But anyways, the playoffs begin. They're kicking off this week.
Starting point is 00:51:35 Liberty National, awesome spot, delicious track. I'm jacked up to watch it. Fanduel. Okay? Fan duel. We're all in on Fanduel. They're now live in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Here's the deal.
Starting point is 00:51:47 We're going to go through some of our picks, but they're doing really cool stuff this week. You sign up at Fanduel.com slash stool. And you can get a $500-hour risk-free bet. Okay, you got that? Fandule.com slash stool. On top of that, and we're going to be out there Saturday, a couple of us, myself and Lurch at least, are going to be out there all day Saturday. They're going to be set up at the 13th hole of the Northern Trust this weekend.
Starting point is 00:52:06 They're going to have a live betting experience never offered at a tournament before. You go to the 13th hole, you activate with Fandul's sportsbook, and you can bet closest to the pin on the 150-yard par 314th hole. It's where I did my rigsverse from. We're going to put that out in a couple months when we bring our tournament there. But Fandul are also going to have VIP viewing areas to watch your bet in. We're going to be there. This is the $500 risk-free bet applies here as well. Fandul.com slash stool.
Starting point is 00:52:34 Fanduel.com slash stool. Thirteenth hole live betting if you're at the Northern Trust. It's going to be very cool. You've got to go activate. You got a Fandual Sportsbook. We have actually gone through. Now we're going to do some of our picks. You guys want to start?
Starting point is 00:52:49 Well, I want to start and I want to say that sadly I cannot pick Zach Johnson in this because for the first time since the FedEx Cup play, have been around, he did not make the playoffs. Wow. He didn't qualify. He didn't make it. It's sad. Obviously, I'm a huge needle supporter.
Starting point is 00:53:05 I want to pick him every time. Must have had fun at the John Deere, though. Do you think him playing in the John Deer Classic? You know, kind of ended his year? He's had a bad year, just in general. I don't think one tournament, certainly not the John Deere. He's going to show up to that tournament every year of his career. It's almost like going to the John Deer Classic like dooms you.
Starting point is 00:53:23 It's like a mush. No. Maybe that's why the top 50 or 100 players in the world or whatever it is and don't ever play it ever, never. Well, in that same Q&A that Frank he was talking about with Matt Fitzpatrick, I asked him if he was going to play in the John Deere. He once again said, never say never, so it's still on the table.
Starting point is 00:53:37 Dylan Fertelli had a great showing at the Open Championship after he won the John Deer. There's no, it's not bad luck, it's none of that. Shout out for Telly's Restaurant, St. Charles, Missouri. But like I said, unfortunately, Zach Johnson will not be playing in the FedEx Cup playoffs. He didn't make it. I am taking, it's going to seem like a strange pick right off the bat. Jordan's beef.
Starting point is 00:53:55 He shot a 77 on 7,000. on Saturday at Windham. He got cut in the 54 whole cut. What a year that guy's had. What a two years. It's crazy. This is what I'm saying. He's got something's got to click at some point.
Starting point is 00:54:08 He can't keep playing this terribly. So I'm taking... Someone's got to give, Trent Daddy? Something's got to give. But he's back and then he's not, right? It's wild how he does this. He's like in the mix of a couple of majors. He finished third, I think, of the PGA.
Starting point is 00:54:19 And then even at the British, he was like right there. And then he played horrible. This last time, he started out. The tournament hot makes like a bad double. Then he makes the cut. He's kind of right there. And then he misses the 54-hole cut with a 78? 77.
Starting point is 00:54:32 What are you doing, Jordan Speed? And that's my pick. And that's my pick. Something's got to give. What are his odds? Am I seen this right? Plus 4,500? Okay.
Starting point is 00:54:42 Okay, yeah. Is that right? He's 45 to 1? Yeah, the size right there. I'm looking at it right now. Okay. In that range, I have a guy at 42 to 1, Tony Fienow. You just can't bet against Tony Fino being in the mix.
Starting point is 00:54:54 I don't care what planet he's on. I don't care what golf tournament he's in. We've seen Tony Fienow play in many of the tournaments we went to. We actually saw him play at Spyglass when he missed the cut of the U.S. open. And this guy, when he's up there, he looks so cool. I mean, he looks like the best, he looks like the type of guy that you want to be best friends with. I want to be best friends with Tony Fino.
Starting point is 00:55:15 And that's really the basis for me picking him is because maybe this gets to him. And he's like, Frank, you pick me? Are you fucking kidding me? I want to go out and have some. So he's just so cool that you're going to pick him so that you hope he finds out you picked him when you guys become friends. Also just his games, his style of play, just, I know he missed the cut of the U.S. Open, which I just said, but his style of play doesn't allow him to not be in the mix. He's so consistent. He has that short back swing. He absolutely roasts the ball and he's so good with his irons that I just, every time. We have a guy at Parsle, so we've talked about him on four play a lot. We have this guy Colby that just bets on Tony Fino. And then Tony Fianow's finished in second a thousand times. But it's just such a sexy bet to bet Tony Fee now. He just always feel like that name and that player is in the mix. So that's my. guy uh Tommy flewood fucks
Starting point is 00:55:59 27 to 1 he does fuck you're right you told him that although his hair's getting a little outrageous now it's a little too you said that open championship week where you think it's getting a little too long a little too much man the curls
Starting point is 00:56:10 starting to look like a dog a little bit but like one of those uh what are those dogs I'm thinking of the long hair would you just go as far as say he doesn't fuck I think he definitely still fucks but like he's he fucks in a woodstock kind of way but he's gonna fuck this week
Starting point is 00:56:23 hell yeah because he's 27 to 1 which I like He nearly won the British Open over at Royal Port Rush, and I heard from a little birdie, a little source of mine, that he shot a front nine 29 at Sabonik recently with only eight clubs in his bag. Wow. And Sabonics really hard, incredibly hard. I did have to laugh, Kevin Kisner, our boys, 90 to one on Fandle, 90 to one.
Starting point is 00:56:46 Kiz was an all-star at the President's Cup out here at Liberty National a couple years ago. Remember him and Phil were like... They were like dancing and like hip-fucking each other out there on the green. So this course doesn't really go against Kisner's game that much? It's not too long, is it? No, it's not. So if the win picks up, I think that's good for Kiz because, you know, he kind of hit, he can hit a low draw kind of screamer that'll run forever and keep him in play.
Starting point is 00:57:14 He hits a lot of fairways. The rough's going to be pretty gnarly, I think. So I actually don't hate Kiz out here. And again, he's got good experience. He likes this track. Kiz is very much a, you know, his golf as a result of like if he just, aesthetically and whatnot, like, likes things if he just decides that he likes a place. If he doesn't, he'll just play tech.
Starting point is 00:57:30 Like when he just told us a year in advance, basically, that he just has no chance at certain courses and then miss the cut and shot 800 over par. And there's other places where he just likes it. Like he's, I think at the, what is it, the C Island course, he's like the leading money winner at that tournament in the history of the tournament. Because he just, if he decides he likes places, he likes it. He texts me, he said he likes Liberty National. So kids at 9801, not a bad bet.
Starting point is 00:57:52 And then I saw two, they have a category. if you go to fandul.com slash stool is where you can get your $500 out risk-free bet. But they have a category on the Fandul Sportsbook 2. Leader after first round, Charlie Hoffman's 100 to 1. Book it. Book it. Holy shit.
Starting point is 00:58:07 What a good bet. Book that. The Seagull is 100 to 1. Oh, yeah. So there you go. He's out there early morning, smiling ear to ear, just making birdies left and right. It's not going to hold. You know that won't hold.
Starting point is 00:58:19 You know that won't hold, but he's going to get out to a great start. No. Fandul's sports book, baby. You can just get that little bet in. Boom. I know we talked about the needle a little bit, and I don't want to really bring this back up, but I did find the actor that is most relatable to Zach Johnson. And his name is Joaquin Phoenix. Wow.
Starting point is 00:58:38 I mean, boy, does he look like Joaquin Phoenix. Did somebody give that to you or did you find it? Yeah, someone tweeted at me. Okay. I was going to say, Frankie, it's, it's Joaquin Phoenix, man, and it's not even close. I mean, Joaquin Phoenix has been in a couple of good movies. You know, he's been, he's been in the mix a ton. He's been in, like, the Academy.
Starting point is 00:58:56 Walk the line, great movie. Walk the line. He's been in the Academy Award, like, talks. I mean, he's playing the Joker in this new Joker movie. So he's always in the mix. But, man, like, if you're starting a late night show and you're the new Jimmy Fallon, and the first guy that walks out is Joaquin Phoenix. You're like, okay, I mean, you couldn't get fucking Brad Pitt or Leonardo Caprio.
Starting point is 00:59:13 So that's my pick, and they look exactly alike. Look it up. Zach Johnson, Wachian Phoenix, exact. I will take Joaquin Phoenix all day long for Zach Johnson. If that's what we're going to compare him to. But we compared him to the fireside with Phil, and that being his first guest to his first, his national new show that he was going to release.
Starting point is 00:59:30 And his first fucking guest was Zach Johnson. You have access to all these guys. The first guy you bring on is weirdo Zach Johnson. All right. Not to take a shot at him, but, you know. Look, it's hot, okay? It's tough to be out there in great condition on the golf course. It's just tough, no matter what.
Starting point is 00:59:48 Now you add in that it's super hot. You add in that you could be a little hungover. You could be in tough shape out there. Yeah. It could be fighting some demons. It's going to be impossible to play well. It's going to be impossible to have the ideal day out on the golf course. Luckily, luckily, we found D.HM detox.

D-HM-Dotx.com, 4Play20. That should code 20% off. You're welcome. Also, shout out to this Dooley at the Barsto Classic who gave me a golf ball with Zach Johnson's face on it. He just came up to me and said, here, I got this for you.
Starting point is 01:02:14 And it was a picture. He said the needles on it. I think it had been played with. I think that there was a couple of scratches on that. Was that, was there were a couple of his own markings on it. Oh, the markings. He must have played with it a little bit, but, you know, we can move on from the needle. That means a lot to, doesn't it?
Starting point is 01:02:27 It does me a lot. That's great. I put it in my bag. I'm going to keep it forever. I'm going to keep it right with the ball that Robbie Mac gave me. That's great. Oh, yeah, you still have you. I don't have that one.
Starting point is 01:02:35 I am the only one with one. You scumbag. You're the scumbag. You're the scumbag. I gave the kid the ball. Because of your actions before that. that was really not scumbaggery. It was just unlucky.
Starting point is 01:02:46 I know he called me a scumbag. I gave anyone that doesn't know, I'll just have to bring it up again. I gave a little kid. Tiger Woods is guy, Robbie Mac. This is before we met Tiger Woods and shook his hand and talked. I will say, I think you guys golf balls are a little less important now that we have the clip of us chatting with Tiger. Correct. And with Robbie Mac.
Starting point is 01:03:03 Anyway, he threw me a ball. I see it as a breadcrumb that leads to. Definitely true. But before it was like, it was the prize. That was like what we had. Yeah. And now the prize is. like, no, we have an all time.
Starting point is 01:03:14 Is there a world? Do you guys ever go back and watch that video of us meeting Tiger? All the time. I get, when I watch it, I get both excited and filled with anxiety. I know what's going to happen. But when he is walking towards us, I'm still like, oh, my God, what am I going to do? So mine is my pen tweet on my Twitter. So whenever I go to my feed, I kind of see it.
Starting point is 01:03:34 Now, it's not like I watch it every day. But I get those exact same feelings of like, all right, how are we going to handle this? Because it kind of, it feels like it never really happened. I agree. It feels almost like I'm watching a movie of myself That's someone's shot and I did like someone's playing me I don't know that's not me I wasn't that him walking towards us Swinging the Scotty Cameron at us
Starting point is 01:03:53 Is like once I see the horny crux He's just got it he just he's holding it and I know who he's walking towards but then when I see our stupid faces appear in the screen I'm like oh my god It's it's a very strange video to watch back for myself and probably you guys too Yeah I mean the fact that he had the scotty camera right It's like fucking FDR rolling at you like his wheelchair.
Starting point is 01:04:13 It's like that he's got, that's him with the tools with like everything. He's doing the thing. That's the guy with the thing. He's doing the thing. He's just, that's his boy, like his closest item in the world.
Starting point is 01:04:23 That fucking putter man has won so many golf tournaments and so many majors. We had, just swinging it around. We had a from the gallery on like how much that thing would go for on an auction. I think he said two million? It was more, I think. It was like,
Starting point is 01:04:35 we were like, is it 10? Is it 10? And then it was him with it right there, just talking to us. It was crazy. Is there a world in which he, talk about breadcrums, but me giving that ball away and possibly getting to Robbie Mac the
Starting point is 01:04:46 information, do you think that that also showed like the type of people that he was dealing with? Like, I mean, I'm a good Samaritan. I'm giving it to little kids. He knew how much the ball would mean to me. Now it's in a little kid's hands. I think everything we did worked. Yep. I think that's correct. You know? I mean, there are, I'm looking at the clip right now. Like, there's this part of the clip where he is just petting Scotty Cameron while we're talking to him. I don't remember him doing that because we were so focused. I was so focused on picking up for Trent and not being able to speak English in front of tiger? Come on.
Starting point is 01:05:14 That question is tough. Where are you stationed? By the way, I get asked that all the time. These Barstow classics, so many people. He tried where he stationed? He'll be like, where he stationed? I'm like, fuck, it just takes me back to a great memory, but also when my brain melted. I mean, at this part, watch, he's just petting Scotty Cameron.
Starting point is 01:05:30 He's just petting it in front of us. I put my hands in my pockets. That means I'm nervous. It's like he's literally, like, you see this fucking thing, boys? It's fucking woods. Crazy town. Just absolutely crazy town. Wow.
Starting point is 01:05:41 What a moment. What the hell are we talking about? The needle. The needle? Oh, Fandle. Vanduel.com slash stool. Go check that out. I think we had moved on for that,
Starting point is 01:05:50 but I liked that we went back to it. $500 risk-free bet. You're welcome. Victor Hovland. So somehow he missed out on his tour card by like a couple points, which is a real bummer. Basically got screwed because they shortened the season. He had to remain an amateur for X amount of period
Starting point is 01:06:04 in order to take his exemption into the U.S. Open, right? So he wins U.S. Amateur, all that good stuff. Because he won it. He gets into the Masters. He gets in. into the U.S. Open, but in order to keep that exemption into the U.S. Open, he had to stay an amateur.
Starting point is 01:06:16 So he wasn't able to accrue all these points that he needed to get his PGA tour card, ends up just outside the bubble, which is a bummer. Now he's got to go down to the corn fairy finals, do those and try to end qualify. There should be, at some point, you should just be like, give him his card. Well, what happened? What is that? Corn Ferry tour. That's the new web.com tour.
Starting point is 01:06:35 Okay. That's a new sponsor. Where's that based in? You're because it's corn. You're looking to be. I'm just, I'm just, I'm just, wondering, I mean, you hear the corn ferry It's corn with a K like the band.
Starting point is 01:06:45 Oh, okay. They actually play that at the John Deer course just over and over again. They just keep running it back there. I mean, someone hears the corn ferry. You're thinking I grew up, like, right near corn ferry. That's the look you're giving me right now. I think that there's a ferry, there's like a ferry
Starting point is 01:06:59 that takes you through the corn. Like, it's just whatever. I don't think that's how it works. Anyways, big credit to our close personal friend, the United States Golf Association, USGA, who they came out in today, and they said they were going to announce the same but they changed the amateur exemption rule.
Starting point is 01:07:14 So once you win, you know, if you win any of these different ways that you can automatically qualify as an amateur for the U.S. Open, you now don't have to remain an amateur in order to cash in on that exemption. Once you earn it, it's good. So you can turn pro, you can do whatever the hell you want. You still can play in the U.S. Open. Very cool. But Victor Hovland will, he had to forfeit a tie for 40th of the Arnold Palmer.
Starting point is 01:07:35 He had to forfeit a tide for 32nd at Masters, and he had to forfeit a T-12 of the OOP. not forfeit, but he didn't get points for those, basically. But I imagine he'll be fine. He's going to go down to the Corn Ferry playoffs, and, you know, I imagine he'll play well and get in there. Zach Blair won on the Corn Ferry tour yesterday. He won the L.E. May Classic. We don't really have never had any interaction with Zach Blair, but one thing I want to say is that he's one of those guys who's a golfer who just loves golf. If you follow him.
Starting point is 01:08:00 He loves golf, golf architecture. Golf architecture, golf logos, playing golf, playing golf with like normal people with his boys. He's just obsessed with golf. He said in an interview that I saw, he plays 36 holes a day, like 30 plus times a year. So he's just like, anytime people want to play golf, he's obsessed. Everything he's got, like he shows pictures. I follow. He's a great following social media on Instagram and on Twitter.
Starting point is 01:08:21 Seems like a great dude again. We don't know him at all. But I have to give him a shout out because anybody who's, he's like the opposite of Brooks Kepp. He's just obsessed with golf. He's like building a course. He's got, you know, he sends pictures from like his, you know, his different rooms in his house. And he's got one where he's just got all kinds of framed pictures of different golf holes. and flags and logos and all that.
Starting point is 01:08:40 So he's Mr. Golf. Anytime anybody is kind of like cut from our same cloth, who's just obsessed with golf, does something cool and wins out there. He qualified for the U.S. Open and then had like an all-time bad round of the U.S. Open. So he's kind of been up and down, and then he won the LMA Classic.
Starting point is 01:08:54 So he'll be back to the PGA tour next year. It's very, very, very cool. So congrats to Zach Blair. A couple from the galleries, 4Play at Barstool Sports.com. A reminder that that is the email. We get that all the time. How do I email you guys?
Starting point is 01:09:07 Well, you email us by emailing 4Play at BarswellSports.com. Let's go through a couple of these. Let's start with Bryce. Bryce says, Just wondering when it is acceptable to fist pump. Recently played a tournament. I was in the final group. Ended up making a 30-footer for Bertie to finish inside the top five.
Starting point is 01:09:23 But the kid who putted after me tapped in for double to card a 95 and hit an aggressive fist pump after. Just wondering where is the line as far as who's allowed to fist pump and win. I say you fist pump whenever hell you want to me. I think you fist pump whenever you want to me. because that guy, you shoot in 95. Say if you're trying to break 100 for the first time, you card 95, you're going to fist pump the hell out of that.
Starting point is 01:09:42 Even if it's a tap-in. I understand that that guy thinks it's like, hey, man, why are you doing that? It doesn't seem that important. But if it's important to you, you should fist pump. Yeah, I was fist pumping on the truly putting contest green, and I wasn't even participating in the contest. I had hit three in a row at that point, and I was fist-pumping like Tiger Woods with the Masters.
Starting point is 01:10:01 I mean, if it feels right, it feels right. I feel like you fist-pump whenever the hell you want to. That's really kind of my general rule. thumb. You know, maybe this guy was doing it, Tiger does it sarcastically sometimes. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:10:10 You know what he's been doing? He's been doing the lick the finger and put it up. Yeah, yeah. After a bad run and he makes, finally makes a birdie, he will do that. But I saw Spath did that as well recently.
Starting point is 01:10:21 Spath did that. Spath had a really bad hole and drill the putt and went, he licked his finger and went up. So is that like a little thing they got going on? Like, what is that? It's supposed to be like, I'm on fire,
Starting point is 01:10:32 right? But it's sarcastic. Yeah, they're just doing, they're doing a whole thing, huh? They are doing a thing. They're doing a buffet.
Starting point is 01:10:38 I'd like to know, I think probably Justin Thomas probably knows this. And, you know, we're kind of close to Justin Thomas. Yeah. I think he'd be able to explain to us what the hell the thing means. I bet it's there's some sort of inside joke. Oh, yeah. Yep. Because Tiger looks back at like someone and does it, like Joey or someone.
Starting point is 01:10:54 Like he does it aggressively. But it's sarcastic. It's so sarcastic. Yeah. Yeah. I think it shows a little, you know, so they're kind of having fun of it. It's like, I know what's going on. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:11:04 Right. I'm aware. I know you guys all. wanted me to make putz row here. I finally made one. I love sarcastic. I love sarcastic fist pumps. Like when your buddy's like going in for nine or eight or something and finally drills it.
Starting point is 01:11:15 Or you like, you shank the ball over the green, then you shank it back over the green, and then you like chip one in. You give a huge fist pump. Like that was an easy five, baby. That's funny stuff. Like anyone that doesn't like that, it's just a huge dump in their pants. It just got announced Tiger is playing with J.T. Poston and Scott Piercy.
Starting point is 01:11:32 Ooh, the postman. The postman, who again, I think is as big a Tiger fan as us, I saw. because his caddy, Aaron Fleener, who also follows us and it seems to be a total beauty, just tweeted, I'm having a little trouble breathing right now. He's all jacked up, so they get to play with Tiger. Very, very cool story.
Starting point is 01:11:48 Wins on the PGA Tour, you know, propels himself into the playoffs and into good shape going to the playoffs, and then now they're matched up with Tiger Woods at Liberty National, so pretty cool he should fist pump for that. Joel, Joel asks, what is your take on playing to score versus playing to gamble? But whenever we play dots, you know, everybody knows dots, you get all kinds of different points for different things. It encourages a different type of play from Sandies to pulleys to double pulleys, all kinds of stuff.
Starting point is 01:12:12 I'm the guy who wants to shoot the best score. I possibly can every time we go out, but that doesn't make me a great dot player. Do you guys have more fun shooting good scores or winning gambling games? The only reason I put this in there is because the most important thing I ever finally learned in golf was to just not care what you shoot. Yeah. I mean, don't get me wrong. Sure, there are times where I'm like, oh, I got a good score going on. But you really learn very quickly that nobody on Earth cares.
Starting point is 01:12:36 Nobody. Nobody cares. Like if you post, you know, if you're really playing really well and you end up shooting, you know, 84 instead of like 79, literally no one on planet Earth cares. Boy, nobody cares. No. And that really frees you up because when you first get really into golf and you're working on your game and all that, then you go out to the courts, like, all right, this is it.
Starting point is 01:12:55 I'm finally a 70s type player. And then you get really tight about it and it starts to dick to everything. When you really learn, like, if you're playing gambling, games you're playing match play or you're playing skins or whatever and you could go like make two doubles in a row and then have a great hole. You know, you stripe a drive, hit a nice seminar in middle of green and make like a 15-footer for a birdie,
Starting point is 01:13:13 and it's like literally at that moment, whether you made those two doubles before that or you made two birdies before that mean nothing. You're the happiest person in the world in that moment. I think winning gambling games is far superior to- far more important to posting a good score. I think the one thing, especially what I've noticed, like playing with guys like Taves and Brock Nelson
Starting point is 01:13:28 and these guys that play like money games all the time, especially when you play with like these athletes and all they care about is who won the match. Like they're not even asking you would you shoot. Like, oh, would you... Like the first thing, like, I know like Brock and Taves played in Minnesota the other day. And I was like, how did you guys play? And he's like, I beat him two and three.
Starting point is 01:13:43 That's all that matters. And even say their scores. And that's all that matters is winning the gambling games. It's all bragging rights. It's all like running tabs on how much money the other guy owes. I love that. So much more than like, oh, 83, 81. Who gives a fuck?
Starting point is 01:13:57 And just another piece of evidence from that is I remember when Kiz and JT were out before the Open Championship doing, they were playing a couple of different golf courts. They played like North Barrett. They were playing a couple different courses out there before the Scottish Open. And I texted kids like, how'd you guys play today? And all he said was like, I won four and three. That was all he said. You know, it's like, who gives a fuck what you shot?
Starting point is 01:14:17 It's like, no, no, I beat him. I won. That's all the matter. So gambling, not even close. All right, I think that's pretty much all I got. We will be back on Thursday. And then a reminder that we will be out at the Northern Trust on Saturday. Myself and Lurch will be.
Starting point is 01:14:32 The other guys scheduling-wise, I'm not sure who all will be out there, who won't be. But Fandul has got us out there. We're going to have a great time out at Liberty National on... I'm going to try and make Saturday because I was going to go Sunday because Saturday wasn't going to work, but now I'm going to Harry Potter. It's an all-day thing on Sunday. I can't wait. I walked by the theater today.
Starting point is 01:14:48 You just haven't mentioned that at all. I want because you know what it's for? You know what I got the tickets for? My birthday's coming up. Oh, that's right. That's right. I never pegged you as a birthday week. I'm not a big birthday week.
Starting point is 01:14:58 I'm just letting you guys. You know what his big thing is when it's not his birthday, but when it's someone else's birthday, he loves giving them a birthday handshake. Yes. That's his thing. And I think, you know, do you go to award a handshake on your birthday? Smitty did steal that. I would like a handshake, yes.
Starting point is 01:15:13 I'll try to remember. Let's put that in our calendar. Handshake, Frankie, on what is it? The 13th? If you see me, if you see me on August 13th on the street or something, instead of screaming out butter, knives and tell me how bad my wedge game is, why don't you come over to me and give me a handshake? Now I'm going to think someone's going to try and come up to me and punch me in the face.
Starting point is 01:15:28 I've got it in my calendar, Frankie. What time do you're going to get in on Tuesday? I get at 10 o'clock. All right, I put it in 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Handshake, B-Day, boyfriend. It feels good, man. Feels great. It's coming up. A lot of love. A lot of love. It's in my calendar. We'll be back on Thursday. Everybody have a great week. Hit it hard.
Starting point is 01:15:44 Hit it hard. Hit it hard.
