Starting point is 00:00:00 Hey, 4Play listeners. You can find us every Tuesday and Thursday on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or YouTube. Prime members can listen ad-free on Amazon Music. Four Play, We're doing a Barstool Sports. We are doing a rare, we only do this about four times a year, I would say. A podcast that's going to be released immediately coming out Sunday night, Monday morning. PGA championship just concluded. God bless you, Jake Bass.
Starting point is 00:00:21 He's still alive. Jake Bass. Trent Ryan. A lot, a lot, a lot, a lot to get to. We had the Pereira collapse. We had Justin Thomas won. major it's a PGA his dad's a PGA professional and been that way so there's a lot of cool stuff going on there Zalotaurus with the putting and the finish Tiger Woods withdrew um j j wott
Starting point is 00:00:40 we hung out with j j watt today and the bob does sports guys there's much much to get to but the most pressing issue i would say is that we are kind of rushing trying to get this podcast done because everybody just wants to go places and go to sleep and get dinner and Trent Ryan just went upstairs I think and is just showering and is just taking some trend time so we're here in mace oh Oh, this chair's dropping. We're here in Mesa. Is that the time? Okay.
Starting point is 00:01:03 We're here in Mesa. We're here for the Barso Classic tomorrow and then Tuesday. We've been on the road for a long time. Trent specifically has been in a row for the long time. We're all staying at this other hotel that's in Mesa. We were in North Scottsdale for most of the trip leading up to this weekend. So we all decided, thanks to Riggs and Lurcha, we were all going to drive for you guys a little bit out of the way, for us to our home station at the hotel, which was like you guys doing us a favor. We're all going to the hotel.
Starting point is 00:01:27 Trent definitely knew that that was happening. I sent a quick text in the way just like, hey, if we could, maximizing everybody's time. Let's just go. Let's just rip this pod quickly. So we're setting up here in the hotel. We're here to Marriott,
Starting point is 00:01:40 another Bonvoy experience. That's just to start and Bonvoy, and I don't want to start to make an enemy out of Bonvoy, but it's just starting to irk me just a little bit. I think they kind of deserve it. Yeah, I agree. It's getting crazy.
Starting point is 00:01:50 I'm an ambassador elite member. That's the top. We tried to get into one of these private rooms and she goes, yeah. Unfortunately, the person that has the key to that won't be here until tomorrow. So if you guys are holding the guns. The sales people hold the keys here.
Starting point is 00:02:03 So if you want to wait for that podcast until tomorrow, I've got no other options for you. So we're just doing it in the middle hallway at this point. So, but we're waiting on Trent to the point where. So we all check. What times right now? It's 5.50 p.m.
Starting point is 00:02:15 At what point do we wonder if Trent is actually okay? Because at this point, it's crazy. He knows that we're trying to do the podcast. 6.05. Dude, I think it's like 5.53. I think it's three more minutes before someone calls him and says, are you still breathing? It's probably been 20 minutes.
Starting point is 00:02:28 There's been 20 minutes he's been gone. So I'm actually nervous for this guy. The thing is we all check in and it's like, okay, let's find a room. Let's get set up. Let's get activated. There is no pocket of time where it's like allowable to go back to her home. Take a shower. Get soaked.
Starting point is 00:02:42 Take a shower. Trent's wet right now. Trent is absolutely soaking wet right now. Are me? What is your percentage? Or is he dead? Are we living in a concern? What is your percentage of concern?
Starting point is 00:02:50 My percentage of concern is 75% because, wow. On our way here, we were talking about. like oh we're like oh lurch obviously has something to do like let's just get this thing done he's like he's like he's like trying to go fast that was knowledgeable information like we knew that we were very knowledgeable in this in the situation oh yeah because that was the one piece of advice i was like maybe he doesn't know he read the text out loud that's and i will say i am a diehard trent guy he's a nicest guy in the world and i just feels off brand this feels off brand and to the point
Starting point is 00:03:19 where he might be dead we might have to take this podcast offline i think he's in his room towel on. Do you think he's horizontal right now? Yeah, and just like tired. Shout out to Justin fucking Thomas, man. I mean, I don't want this to take away from what we saw today. Justin Thomas absolutely took over Southern Hills in the PGA championship this week. And I started thinking because what he did, everyone's going backwards.
Starting point is 00:03:42 Everyone felt like it's been going backwards since Thursday. I mean, Thursday, Friday, we had tough conditions, wind. Everybody's talking about how in Tulsa it's going to be unbelievably windy. The conditions are going to change over the weekend. Rory goes out and shoots a five under. 65 and it's like oh, Rory might take over the tournament. Then he just went backwards the whole week. JT was in the brutal part of the wave.
Starting point is 00:04:02 He got the shitty wave on Thursday and Friday. He played well. He played well again to get to 600 then didn't play his best Saturday. And then comes out Sunday when everyone's going backwards. Pereira going backwards. Alatoris going backwards. Everyone was going in the wrong direction. And then Justin Thomas just continues to make birdies.
Starting point is 00:04:20 He's 100, 200, 300, 3 under, lights up the back night. He had like a shank on like the sixth hole. And then after that, I think he made like five birdies and no bogeys the rest of the round, made a couple of birdies to start the playoff and just took over and dominant. And what I was saying was that it really started, it really reminded me of JT's had a few rounds this year. We got to talk about notion real quick. But JT's had a few rounds this year, even before this, that really stuck out. Do you remember that round in the severe wind at sawgrass when Saturday, when they restarted everything after days of no golf? They restarted everything.
Starting point is 00:04:50 It was soft and blowing like 50. and everyone that started on the first on 17, like everybody hit him in the water. And JT was out there hitting like five woods from 190 and pitching wedges from 220 yards downwind and hitting all these awesome shots. And then he also had that round at Augusta. That day the things were really, really tough
Starting point is 00:05:07 where he was hitting all these crafty shots, these low cuts. And he occasionally does that where he'll step up and hit like a low rip draw and hit these really, really cool golf shots. So it was like it was reminding me as, because he wasn't even really on the coverage much until the back nine when they're like, wait a second, this guy might win the golf tournament. We're going to get more of that notion.
Starting point is 00:05:25 Notion real quick is an all-on-one team collaboration tool. We're talking about team right now. We need our other teammate. I texted him and I sent the nervous ha-ha at the end. So do you live? Question mark. No reply? He wrote back where.
Starting point is 00:05:37 Oh, God. Oh, come on. He said, where are we doing that? That's so lazy. That's the lazy. It feels like I'm so tired and so comfortable that I'm going to go do nowhere. to figure out where this is going on. That's buying another five minutes.
Starting point is 00:05:53 It's not a team tech. That's not a team guy tech. Not a Notion. Notion is a team collaboration tool. That would never happen with Notion. Combines note taking, document sharing, wikis, project management, and much more into one space that's simple, powerful, and beautifully designed with powerful integrations and API and API and seamless navigation.

Starting point is 00:06:31 That's notion.com slash foreplay. Trent Ryan is appearing to help you take the first step toward an organized happier team today. Notion.com slash for play. We were talking about Justin Thomas. How are you feeling, Trent Ryan? I feel great. Why is everybody looking to me like I just rose from the dead? We were considering it.
Starting point is 00:06:49 Yeah, there was a real moment we thought you died. Well, we checked into the hotel and I just figured I was waiting for a text on what room we were going to do. And I didn't think we were going to be doing it in the lobby, which we are doing right now. Yeah, I was just sitting in my room. I changed my pants. I changed my underwear. Did you get wet? No, I just flush water on my face.
Starting point is 00:07:08 If I had known that you guys were all waiting for me, I would have come down much faster. There was a discussion that was being had that you were horizontal. We thought maybe at one point and then definitely in the shower. Yeah. No, what I assumed is that we were. We're all going up to our rooms to put all of our gear in our rooms. And what I can see from now is that all of your guys and stuff is here. Mine is safely in my room because we were, we all checked in together.
Starting point is 00:07:31 So I thought we were all going to go. Well, part that was the text that was the text. And then apparently Frankie revealed that you like were very conscious of that text and read it out loud like you knew that there was an urgency. Yeah, but nobody else responded to that either being like, all right, we'll definitely do that. It was just, we just let it die. We're all together. Somewhere somehow when we all decided that we were going to.
Starting point is 00:07:50 do it here you were not here yeah i checked in and i went up to my room which is what i thought everybody was doing and then we were going to get a group text being like because how long would you have laid it before to send all night all night i guess we're not putting out a podcast no but because like when i put a time limit on if you were dead what i will say is that i didn't hear about i asked his concern level on a percentage and he said 75 dude i thought you went up there and had a heart attack it's possible i really i was like because i said there's no way he's not wondering we're doing the podcast and we our phones were charging it was all on the other side of i'm like he's obviously coming down then like 20 minutes went by and we're like he's no sign of him
Starting point is 00:08:29 i thought there was a time where i i was living in this world yeah that you were no longer with us no here's what happened where when we were checking in one of us was asking about a conference room to go into and we were getting stonewall yeah we talked so i figured that we were going to be doing it in someone's room so i just went up there and waited and i was going to be like oh go to room four 15 or whatever we usually do yeah so i thought you were coming down post shower in sweats with like a packet of skittles and a soda and I was like this is not to be I wish I just changed my pants and I sat on the couch. It was a couch.
Starting point is 00:08:59 Can a couch? Yeah, pretty nice one. Nice room. I'm happy. It's a pretty good room. Thank you. I yeah. Happy you with us.
Starting point is 00:09:05 I'm alive. I'm sorry that I delayed the podcast. No, we just kind of rolled off the time. We haven't really started. I was actually kind of after a little bit because Frankie was like, ooh, that elevator moved from like four to L. I think we got Trent coming out of the right one. I was like, no, I still think we had time.
Starting point is 00:09:19 Like when you were going to come down and we weren't sure. and so happy that episode of Seinfeld when the flights are coming in and I also thought because we were going to sit down for the stream we drove over there together you're like oh man I'd love to change we didn't and then you saw Frankie
Starting point is 00:09:30 and Riggs had changed so I thought for sure you saw almost an envision like a small pocket of time a small window and you were like capitalized and I didn't change a little bit yeah yeah but not to the extent that I thought no and I can't
Starting point is 00:09:45 you can't leave without my clubs are in your car oh I got to get those out of there because I know I don't know what you're good to see you You sent the text or else we would have been doing this all night. Yeah, I need, I'm going to need to get those. Yeah, we'll get those to you. When you splash water on your face, was there a part of you too that did you get,
Starting point is 00:10:00 have time to like look right in the mirror and be like, oh, boy, are you just kind of splashing and going? Is there like a reflection moment? No, I look at myself. Yeah. Okay. It felt good because I put on so much sunscreen today. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:10:13 That I probably had eight layers of sunscreen. So I just like, I splash it on my face a couple times. And then I just looked at my, in the mirror. and I was like, man, I'm surprised we're not recording this podcast. You know what I noticed with, and we got to get to the PJ Championship, um, when we're traveling all these different hotels, you go in all these different bathrooms than you're used to.
Starting point is 00:10:32 I'm used to my bathroom at my house and whatever. I guess my proximity to a mirror has always been the same. And then you go into these new hotels and you're somewhat sometimes closer or maybe the lighting is better in a hotel bathroom or whatever. And you notice things on your face that you never would have noticed at home. Are you guys understanding Your face just looks 10 times more clear You and I talk about this story
Starting point is 00:10:54 This is a classic podcast Where we're talking about different angles of our bodies At different hotel Yes, dude, it's crazy And what we had talked about This last hotel I was in I'm like My face actually has lots Like there was like fucking pores
Starting point is 00:11:05 I'm like I can see myself I will say no guy uses the selfie Photo screen like you do Well I always have shit coming out You always check Yeah I don't want to come on You're more conscious of a mirror I would say than most
Starting point is 00:11:19 I don't want things hanging out of my nose I get that I'm always doing that I catch a I caught a bad mirror look though Just two days ago I was just asking if it was a full Top down mirror man Well I said I saw the side It wasn't even front
Starting point is 00:11:35 I'm like I'm as wide as a dumpster Yeah I mean I got a like a size of my width And I was like Just think about like when you document what you eat No no totally where does that go Right no it's there I just saw it I didn't see it. Like when I look at myself front on,
Starting point is 00:11:51 because usually when you look at a mirror, here I am, face has been about the same. Body's pretty close. Like, I know I'm heavier, but like I can't really see the changes. At least when you eat goes to your whole body. For me,
Starting point is 00:12:00 it's going around my ariola. Your nipples? Yeah, just on the outside of the nipple. It's all the food's going right there. What's your waist? 33. Yikes, that's a little. What's yours?
Starting point is 00:12:11 We jump between 38 and 40. Okay. 35, 36. So right around there. I can do either, but. 40 just the nice 40 were you a 38 or 36 in college 36 in college i was like you know like a 205 you know 210 maybe a senior year i was 215 220 running healthy you know who makes you
Starting point is 00:12:34 look like you look like a little bitch what j j fucking why we got to talk today we played golf that i looked the same size and i disagree that's couldn't be more wrong i couldn't agree more one point you guys were standing on the inside of the green and me and jet uh the producer for uh bob those sports were like, dude, Lurch looks like he's, he's like five inches tall right now. Yeah. So JJ Watt played golf with us today of maybe the nicest human being in the world and he was into it and he was chirping and laughing and he was great. And I just would catch him on the side.
Starting point is 00:13:01 Like I'd be overhearing him just asking Trent about Iowa stuff. Yeah, we're a couple Midwest guys. He's a Wisconsin guy. I'm an Iowa guy, obviously. And I said all day, I'll say it again, he is better than me in every way. And he's like, I said it during the video that he is marked. after eating a mushroom of meat. He's just big, like everything's bigger.
Starting point is 00:13:23 His life is bigger. Like I at a certain point in my life when I was playing high school football, I definitely wanted to be like a JJ Watt. Yeah. Like it was like that was the dream. That's the guy. And then you see a guy like that. You're like, I wasn't even close.
Starting point is 00:13:35 We looked at him at one point, Trent and I just kind of stared at him. And we said, that is as, that is as big and as perfect as the human body can get. Yeah. Like there's no, no more genetics can happen. for it to no more chromosomes can be varied in a way that you get it any bigger than him i don't know it's possible it's like him and lebron have like i guess yeah yeah perfect they're they're each like what is what is six five six he said six six two eighty seven and a half is what he said right and lebron's like six eight to whatever like they're just yeah you can't max out the just pure fitness any more than
Starting point is 00:14:14 those guys giant hands giant feet giant Giant person. Genetic freaks. Not, but he's not, it's not, he's not big with like trying to be big. No,
Starting point is 00:14:25 literally is just naturally gigantic and then also has fine tuned that natural perfection to such an athletic specimen. He's quick. He's, uh, coordinated. He's huge. He's strong.
Starting point is 00:14:38 He's lean for being six, six, two, eight and he's nice and he's just like good looking. His hair looked good. He's just like, engaging he like makes eye contact me and asks you about shit how did you play with us today I don't know like how did that all happen he and I DM a lot he's a big golf guy and he'll just he'll just
Starting point is 00:14:58 DM me nice stuff like he'll just respond to like a daily nine or something yeah I unfortunately had to just follow him back today and that was a weird moment what do you mean he was following me on both Instagram and Twitter and I was not following oh follow back guys got five million followers when we got to the bar casemigos to do the live stream he followed me on Twitter. And I had to follow him back, which I think is fine. Okay. If he goes follow, follow, I think that's fine. Perfect. And then he tweeted me something very nice
Starting point is 00:15:24 that I could be the fourth watt brother. That's amazing. Oh, what? What? Did he what? Did you? I can read it. What's happening right now? He said that to you? He said, because I had said, that didn't get enough buzz. Hold on. This is your guys personal Twitter DM exchange? No, this is public. Oh, wow. So I quote tweeted because
Starting point is 00:15:42 somebody put out a picture of the two of us standing next to each other or like the picture we took after the round today and it said you with an arrow pointing to me and then the guy she told you not to worry about pointing at JJ fair which makes sense and then i made the joke that i'm going to now make again because i'm going to read my tweet j j wad is a better version of me in every way he's mario after he eats the mushroom and then he responded to that said disagree you'd be welcome as our fourth and a watt brother group any day trent it was an honor to teed up with you hope it wasn't the last time hashtag midwest crew wow that's my guy He's one of the nicest guys.
Starting point is 00:16:14 One of the best football players to ever step on the good iron. I know. And that, that's cool. Because football, I love football. And I used to play football. You love defensive players in football. Yeah. He is like perfect.
Starting point is 00:16:24 He's the perfect defensive player. 99. On one of his wedges, it says, just shoot better than your number. Awesome. I think it's just 60 degrees says like, just shoot better than your numbers. I know that that's cool because that's something that my dad would think is cool. Because he loves football too. And it's like, that's fucking.
Starting point is 00:16:42 Like, we meet awesome. awesome people. But like JJ Watt is he's a leader of the NFL. He's a leader and legend of the NFL like Sundays when we sit down and watch sport as men and we eat our fucking popcorn and drink our beers. J.J. Watts's the biggest star. He's the guy. He's the guy. It's J.J. fucking wants. Takes over football game. Right. On the defensive side. Yes. He's one of the most like just amazing physical specimens that you can have. Like he dominates other specimen men. You know what I mean like he is so strong and his brothers like had a better year it's just like his the whole family he had an MVP year it's like yeah i know it's like it's like it's like it's like it's like it's like
Starting point is 00:17:23 j wott too when i'm i think a big part of it was when i moved to arizona was like around when he became you know Arizona guy and he's gotten really into golf last couple years so he and i just kind of started talking and then he hit me up last week it was like hey i know you guys are out here for the stream are you playing any golf and i was like sunday morning we're going to play golf you want to play and he was like yep I'm in it was that simple and then he just showed up so we had a match of bob does sports again it was the second match this time it was on a par three golf course out here mountain shadows we had trend Ryan and we had Trent Ryan filling in for Hannah in the four man scramble and then that was good and then I felt that in my soul you looked right at me
Starting point is 00:18:01 you said that that was very funny and then we brought j j watt to just hand off to fucking bob does sports team and they were he was just their fourth they didn't even know what was happening right i think i got i got a text from robby berger last i'm saying is j jay watt being our fourth tomorrow and i said i think so bob i think so he goes what a what a life we live frankie burleigh just a kid from east meadow he always says that to me just a kid from east meadow just making it big out of here it's a crazy day it's an absolutely crazy that video will come out in about a month on bob does sports channel we do the home and home those guys are great man i i had met robbie burger before um where did we meet him oh we met him at the
Starting point is 00:18:36 rider cup yeah um so that was the first time i had met him that time and then and I met him again today. And then the rest of the crew, awesome. I love those guys. Fat Perez, Colt Cuts. They're not real. They're fun to hang out. And then they came to Casamigos and watched a stream with us.
Starting point is 00:18:50 It was awesome. Just really good guys. Fun. So that'll be coming out in a month. All right, more PGA stuff.
