Hey, 4Play listeners, you can find us every Tuesday and Thursday on Apple Podcast, Spotify, or YouTube.
Prime members can listen ad-free on Amazon Music.
We've got Sir Nick Faldo on.
We're going to get to him very quickly.
We're not going to waste much time.
As you probably know, Sir Nick, we've had him on the show before we did it at Borrellys
with a bunch of whiskey, scotch that he got us.
Frankie and Trent were doing a whole bit about trying to drop Imagine Dragons, I believe, song titles during the entire
interview. That was a legendary podcast and he called me a delicate little petal or flour when I
wouldn't drink the whiskey and he doused mine down, his down, I think Trent's down. He's a good
time. Sir Nick Fowler's a good time and he brings the fire today. In a way, I never thought
a all-time great golfer would on a podcast like this. We're just a bunch of shmows talking golf and
he came on and absolutely eviscerated everything that we said in rigs and it was, he was, he
He was on one, as the kids say.
He was on one.
Yeah, he must have been stuck on traffic going from Orlando to Pontavadra
because when he got on the call, he just put Riggs in a box.
He taught Riggs that, like, make content at one point.
Right, like if you follow Riggs and you follow foreplay,
you would just assume Sernick Fowl that was going to come on
and rip his putting apart.
But instead he came in and almost didn't want to talk about that
and then just ripped Riggs his life apart.
He did.
He did.
You know, an easy rebuttal, which I didn't want to bring up,
is like there's a reason that those all get sponsored,
and I don't see yours getting sponsored, Sir Nick,
and that's because we're watching.
But I didn't want to bring that up.
It's six-time major champion.
He obviously has a lot of credibility in the game.
It was, I mean, it was kind of what I expected.
He was going to come in and roast.
But it was weird that he literally didn't even want to talk about the putting
or chipping.
He wanted to talk about it.
He was so disgusted by it, he didn't want to talk about it.
It was given it right there, pretty much.
Nick, Nick,
those worth a smooth 60 mil so he could have he could take a million stack and slap you
across the face every single time you said that one of his videos don't get sponsored he could he could
but if we're going to be like he's roasting the content and you don't know how it works like i i would
i think he could win that though but yeah i don't know how content works like i'm in a booth and i'm
i'm 60 i'm a 60 millionaire like i know like i went he he says i win after that he also is dropping
some plugs so we don't know his contracts because when he was dropping his various plugs and
putting in his finger in.
He was dropping a pop.
He dropped a couple plugs.
So he was getting paid somewhere.
I think Nick Fowler, though, securing the bagioli, if we're really, if we're going to be
honest here.
I really could have, I'd be being like, well, I wish, why do you guys go to fucking
commercial every five minutes?
Like, I'm trying to watch the golf, maybe show more golf shots.
But like, Zing.
Frankie, if you don't like a general, like, a message board?
Like, why are you dropping all these?
Like, that's what the kids say.
And you did it yesterday, too.
What have you been doing?
Where are you been?
What are you talking about?
What did you say bagioli or something?
Yeah.
What fuck is that?
I think it's just a coincidence to be honest.
I know I've,
everybody's a little different these days.
I don't know why it's making me last point.
I should say that we're recording it a little bit of a different time.
It's a little earlier.
So maybe you're just a little loopie.
No, I just think Nick Fowled of securing the bagioli,
the hilarious thing to think about.
It is. It is a good thing to think about.
We're going to get to, we're going to get to Sir Nick very quickly.
We talk even a little bit about Borrellys.
Borelli's gets a shout out because he's rocked the Borelli's shirt a few different times, I think,
when he's cooking pasta with his, with his girl.
I think they just put on the Borelli.
So it's good interview.
It's fun.
We also, we tried to get into like serious chatter about, you know, him winning the masters.
And he says at what point he almost gets emotional talking about.
about walking around the 11th hole where that was the site of two of his master's wins in
playoffs.
He gets into some champions dinner type reveal as to what goes on.
He chirps to a couple of people about the champions dinner and the hangouts, which was kind
of a follow-up to Trevor Emelman.
So outside of just ripping everything about me apart, which I'm sure all of you very much
enjoyed based upon the reactions that I was watching while I was just sitting in the room
over there getting roasted, it was also a problem.
pretty entertaining and in a interview.
So certainly in a moment, something that should be coming up in your house,
in your, in your little, maybe your little bar,
if you've got like a little wet bar or a bar in your fridge,
or even if you're a bar in your kitchen,
or you want to throw something in the fridge to whip up an ideal,
an expert, a top level cocktail, it should be Owens Mixers.
Owens Mixers, they are the official sponsor of Foreplay.
They're going to be with us for a long time.
They love what we do.
We love what they do.
They've got the four different flavors.
It's very, very simple.
You pour it in.
You pick your liquor of choice.
You load it up with some ice.
You pour your liquor of choice in.
And then you pick one of these flavors that Owens Mixers has.
They've got ginger beer and lime, mint cucumber in lime,
grapefruit and lime, tonic water, and lime.
You just pour it in there.
And boom, you've got yourself a delicious, a high-level cocktail.
People are going to think you're a bartender.
Maybe you double as a bartender on the weekends.
Holy shit.
look at this mixologist that just rolled into this party into this hangout maybe you're even
on a little zoom hangout you're going to pull that little cocktail up you're going to flash it in
front of your friends on your big zoom they're going to go holy shit i'm drinking these awful awful
drinks and you've got that delicious cocktail how did you get that answer is going to be barstool 15
owens mixers.com you get 15% off you're going to love this stuff would be getting positive
rave reviews from everybody that's ordered it saying holy shit i didn't know about owens i didn't
know something like Owens existed before.
I've got 37 ingredients.
Every time I put it in, it's different proportions.
It doesn't come out correctly.
Owens Mixers takes care of all of that.
Owensmixtures.com.
Barstool 15.
Sir Nick's going to love that intro to his interview
that we just had to plug Owen's mixers in the cocktail,
but we did.
A few headlines,
so we've got to run through quickly,
and then we will get right to Sir Nick and some housekeeping stuff.
Piner's number eight.
The video is now live.
It's been less than 24 hours for us,
we're recording you folks it's been about a day and a half second episode of the travel show we
continue to evolve it a little bit from the narration to how much golf do we show how much drone shots
do we show to people want just pure flyovers and crazy drone footage of the courses do they want
trint with the snakes do they want frankie up in the up in the weeds trying to hit these crazy
hooks around trees which i had forgotten about that recovery shot that you hit that was amazing
i'm going to instagram that picture actually today because i think that's one of the funniest images
of me golfing I'll ever have.
Like, who ends up, like, that spread out on top of a mound on such like a regular, like,
hole?
Like, there was no damage there on that hole.
I found a spot that, like, that, there's no way the architect ever thought anyone
was ever going to be standing there.
Yeah, it's an outrageous picture.
You need to send that to me.
I put it.
So I just did a little Instagram with, like, 10 different images.
So I went through and screenshot it a bunch of the video.
Tread with the snakes, me just trying to hit one around with the,
tree and hitting a tree four inches in front of me and then you up at mile and that was like,
I don't know how you got up there.
So anyways, people seem to love this video.
They're pumped about it.
It's a totally different format, obviously, than we've done ever before.
These two videos, Tobacco Road and Pinehurst number eight.
We kind of hit you with a little intro into all that is Pinehurst and then jump right
to Pioneer Number 8, which is offsite, satellite course, four-minute drive away.
You take a shuttle if you're staying at the Pinehurst Resorts.
Next thing you know, you're there.
And it's like a little sanctuary.
There's wildlife.
There's wetlands.
It's not necessarily what you think of when you think of Pinehurst being kind of
surrounded like we said of these like protected wastelands where you've got snakes.
You've got geese, birds flying all over the place.
You're like, what the fuck?
That's just not what you think of necessarily when you think Pinehurst.
And that's why it's cool that they offer all that different variety.
So that was our first experience ever at Pinehurst.
The Greens absolutely murdered, Frankie.
Murdered Frankie.
I'd forgotten how poorly you putted.
I didn't.
Me too.
man, that was tough.
I couldn't figure out.
So we went live on YouTube last night.
And for anyone listening that didn't do it,
it is a fun thing to,
like, join in on because we're all just,
we're all talking about the video as it goes along live in the chat.
And someone in the chat at one point,
I, three putt or four putt,
and I didn't even come close.
And someone wrote Frankie,
you just have to be better.
Like you can't.
And that to me was like,
you know what, man?
Like, you're right, dude.
Like, I need to be better.
Dude, that's like when
and skate better in Brink, when his
sister is like, what can I? He's like,
what can I do? And she's like,
skate better. And he has like this epiphany.
And then the movie goes on and he's this
incredible rollerblader.
Incredible movie shop, by the way.
Disney Channel has some of the best of all time.
I mean, you talk about Brink
and then Luck of the Irish is my favorite
of all time. I mean,
Smart House, whatever. We're not going to get into it.
We're not a Disney Channel show.
But like, you know,
the putting was the putting i don't know man like i'm a really bad putter i just played yesterday and
and i was stunning pete like i lost a match with our guy kegan and luke and like for my guy keegan
if you're listening to like i can't four put when i hit the green and two and lose the match like
when i'm on the green and you know all i have to do is three putt and like to like secure a match
and like and get us there in the victory and you and like you're probably like oh yeah we have it's in
the bag and i'm stepping up to a five foot put for my third put and you know i'm not making it like
That's got to be the worst feeling ever as a partner to be like, well, how did we get here, just here?
All he had to do was knock two putts close to that little hole.
Like two of them just needed to get in somewhat of an area and they'll give him a gimmie.
But, you know, I'm a really, really bad putter and that was an extremely bad day.
But another quick thing before we move on from the Pinehurst video is, you know,
I saw a lot of people like who really, really like the fact that it's a video that if you're going to go play Pinehurst number,
eight, which is a course that is super underrated and you may not think about it when you're
going to Pine Harris. You play number two, number four, whatever. This video is a type of video
where you can watch it, like, on your way to the course, right? Let's say you're like staying
in a place that's like whatever, like you're getting ready for the day and you're at Pinehair.
It's like you can watch our video and it's 30 minutes long, but like it shows you every single
shot of the golf course, right? Like you see what you're about to see. It's like a preview
for what you're about to experience. So I think that aspect of our videos are really cool.
You get to see from T to Green. But for something like Pine or some
number two, which will be coming on next week, I think, like, it's such a historical and
incredible course. Like, we'll blow that one out to, like, an hour video, probably,
because there's so much stuff to talk about. We have so many caddy stories. Our caddies
were, like, chirping us. Pashley's chirping us. And, like, the history of it. So, like, each
video is going to be different. Like, I don't want anyone to think that, like, it's all set
in stone. Like, oh, like, that's where you're going to get it each time. Like,
punish number two is going to be a historical journey through, like, U.S. Opens and
in that golf course. Combined with us, like, taking our own.
historical journey. Right. Exactly.
Hitting the same shots and basically just trying to, you know,
limp our way through Pioneer's number two. And, um, and yeah. So each video really,
it's, it's kind of what once we go through and find out what we got and what the course
deserves. We're trying to do them justice. We're trying to present the real experience
that you're going to get, right? We're not, um, PGA tour. We're not college golfers.
We're not people who are ever like one or two handicaps. We suck. We're like you. Like if you're
out there listening. And,
And this is what our caddies tell us every time.
They're like, oh, you guys actually play these courses, Pioneers No. 2, exactly like 97% of my clientele who comes through here and plays it.
When you watch the U.S. Open at Pioneers No. 2, that is not a normal experience at Pioneers number 2.
That is not how the resort guest plays that course.
You know, who plays it like the resort guest?
We do.
We shoot 9 million.
We end up in horrible spots.
We're de-greening all over the place as our caddies talked about.
And it's cool that we talked about all of this shit back in November.
And we kind of teased everyone.
And now we're rolling it out.
And people are like, okay, this is very, very cool.
The production is very high.
Ebug, Jake, all of our team kind of making a half.
We've had some graphics folks at Barstool jump in and adds of things.
Joey with the different narrations.
And we're trying to get them right.
I think this one was really cool for Pinehurst.
I thought the last one was really, really good for Tobacco Road.
And sort of what we're trying to convey.
We're trying to be funny.
We're trying to be informative.
And we're also trying to hit you with different looks from amazing.
drone footage that's going to be aesthetically pleasing and stunning to all of a sudden
us hitting a golf ball which is going to be the opposite of aesthetically pleasing and it might
make you laugh it might make you cry it might make you just be stunned just the range when you
guys were all at the range were laugh out loud funny like it was just like clank whack fat doom it was the
worst sounds i've ever heard for the rain everyone's different it was so good dude I was
So, for Play,
golf on YouTube, go check out our YouTube page.
We've got all of our videos there,
but these ones are obviously featured,
Piders number 8, Tobacco Road.
The newest versions are the newest episodes
from the travel series,
and we'll, every week, that's the plan.
It might be a week or two,
depending on what else we've got going on,
because we're trying to formulate ideas
for new videos and content that we can shoot now.
Things seem to be very, very slowly reopening,
and that could potentially allow more opportunity for us to get together, film some more stuff.
So check out Piner's number eight.
It's very cool.
We'll talk more about that and the other travel shows coming up.
Saw Day, we've got the first kind of real golf in a long time.
We've got the skins game.
It's the tailor-made driving relief skins game.
They're playing for COVID relief.
A bunch of money.
There's going to be some gambling.
It's at Seminole.
We talked a bit about Seminole with Stu Hagestat on Tuesday.
I think we covered that, but a reminder that that's going on on Sunday.
It'll be really cool.
I'm pumped.
There's really no negative outside of Phil, Tom Brady, and Peyton Manning are playing
shortly after that, and that's just going to be way better.
Other than that, I don't really see a lot of negatives.
You had some bad Wi-Fi there.
That's why you're getting some silence.
You had a little bit of in and out there when you were closing and pushing it off to the next group.
Gotcha.
We heard a little Tom Brady thing, but we didn't get.
the transition. I was saying the only negative
is that it's not the Tom Brady
Peyton Manning Tiger Woods' Phil Nicholson match and other than that, I don't really
see many negatives.
I threw it off. I threw it off to you guys.
And then I just stared at the screen like, what the fuck's going on?
Why won't anybody talk to me?
Like you guys fucking talk, maybe.
I'm looking forward to watching sports. I'm not like
taking my pants off for this match. You know,
I will be taking my pants off for the Tiger Woods
match. But like, you know, Matthew Wolfe like just doesn't, I mean, go pokes and stuff, but like,
it doesn't get me going that much. Yeah, I think it's going to be, it's going to be fun to watch.
And it depends on how they do the production. I'm really looking forward to seeing what we get to
see out of it, like how much, you know, the banter back and forth we get to see because that's
really all I care about. Like, you know, we always thought like, Rory's going to hit a ball
down the middle perfectly. I hit it next to a pin. Like that stuff's just robotic. And I want to
see Rory like maybe like I got I want to see Matthew Wolf like say something that's
going to make me tweet you know what I mean like that's what I'm looking for make us tweet yeah
say something that's like ooh like you know I mean like like like get it going get the banter going
say something like not controversial but like get under someone's skin I want to see like anger
I want to see like competitiveness that's what I want like I'm scared about the read like
the read like Rory match where finger like waving but just like some fun banter back and forth
that gets people excited about it.
Because, yeah, the golf, I can watch, you know,
golf for like the next match when it comes out
or on YouTube or something like that.
But the back and forth between players
is what's going to sell it, like between groups
is what's going to drive.
If it's authentic.
Yes.
Right?
If it's like force, like Phil and Tiger at the match last time,
we're awful.
Like they were just awful with their banter.
It was pathetic.
Because it just wasn't authentic.
I don't blame them for trying to stir it up
and create a better product.
But like, if,
If that's almost why you need, you know, you need guys that are that are genuinely like friends,
almost, right?
Like our banter and our banter with kids and stuff is supernatural because like we're buddies.
We're very comfortable with it.
Like when we chirp each other on here, a lot of, we get tweets and stuff about like,
are you guys going to murder each other?
Do you guys hate each other?
It's like, no.
We're like buddies.
We just like roast each other sometimes.
That's how it is.
And it's much more authentic and natural than when you've got guys who clearly don't really hang out
or chirp each other very often,
but then are told like,
hey,
you need to have banter back and forth.
They're like,
okay,
I will now banter.
And it's like,
no,
that ain't how it fucking works.
Yeah,
a little producer comes in the air.
Just,
oh,
no,
okay,
now I'll say this line.
Great.
I'll say,
that's how,
I mean,
that's how I felt
about the,
these couple shit talking sessions
leading up to the match too.
It's just,
I hope it gets better.
And I think Peyton and Tom
are a good addition in that,
in that respect,
like a couple of guys
who've been in locker rooms
and all that.
stuff but it's just yeah you need genuine shit talking for it to feel even remotely like it's a real
thing yeah like if brady chunks won and patin from like across the fairway was like nice chunk tom
or something like that or whatever like maybe throw it back like a football reference like that would be
laugh out loud funny yeah so i i agree i think i hopefully adding the two guys you know like we're
talking about the the two NFL legends into that mix will sort of
bring out more authenticity with Tiger and Phil.
But in terms of this one on Sunday,
I mean, I don't know that Rory and like Ricky are going to be like roasting each
I don't, I don't know.
And I don't know that DJ like will say anything.
So I, you know,
I would love to be surprised.
I would love to be surprised.
Like if DJ comes out of this and we find out that like when he's miced up,
he's like muttering under his breath talking shit to people,
I would love that.
I think Rory has a chance to really stand out and like lead the shit talking
and sort of break the ice so everybody knows, like, yeah, we can bust each other's balls here.
I want to be pleasantly surprised because right now the bar is very low.
Yeah.
I love Rory to rip like a low, like two iron onto a green, something that like the other guys just
like can't do, do something that's so Rory and just be like, I'm going to walk this big old
dick up to the green.
Like, like, like, reference his like swag walk or something.
Like I want guys to be cocky.
I want them to be mean.
Like when I say like I want a Twitter moment, like make it like a moment that we're all
going to talk about because I could see an entire matter.
going by where it's just like flowers and gumdrops and candy canes and rainbows and everyone's
like corny and and they just whatever like they get the match done it's live sports yay whatever and then
we're just on to the next fucking thing and it's over like I want something that's like holy shit
did you watch that fucking match with Rory saying that thing to Matthew Wolfe and calling him a little
piece of shit and like Oklahoma State's the worst fucking college ball like imagine like how fucking
fun that would be like just go unhinged unplug do it yeah I like I just
I think it's more likely, like Tret was saying,
you're going to get DJed to, like,
unintentionally, like, you're going to find it.
He might, like, look at his catty or his brother and be like,
holy shit, what's Roy?
Like, 5.5. I didn't realize that.
Yeah, that's what we need.
Like, he won't even, like, you know,
like, I could see that type of shit being hilarious
versus somebody going out of their way
to be, like, a total dickhead to Matt Wall.
I wanted, I wanted a dickhead.
Frankie wants a scuffle out there on the fairway.
I want a career to be ruined from,
from live mic to be enough.
I want,
I want, like, headlines to be made.
So, so that Sunday, we'll obviously be, you know,
we'll be tweeting about it.
We'll be covering it the way that we cover it.
If it's really good, we'll be tweeting a shit ton about it.
If it's not, you know, I don't know, we'll kind of see,
but at least golf's doing something.
It's for a good cause.
So there's nothing to be upset about there.
Hope it goes well.
Looking forward to watching some live golf.
Okay.
Next up is Sir Nick Faldo.
He's a six-time major winner.
You won the Masters three times.
He's won the Open Championship three times.
He's the lead analyst for CBS Sports, CBS Golf.
He's right next to Jim Nance.
He's been there for Masters for years and years and years now.
As you all know, and really, this is just the first 15 or 20 minutes or 30 minutes of this are just, well, they're not ideal for your boy, Rick.
So you're probably going to love it.
And then right afterwards, we've got a handful of from the galleries to get into.
We're going to talk more, us versus.
Kisner, Scramble, brought to you by our good friends at Scott's,
Turf Bill to Triple Action, so stick around.
