Chevy is the heartbeat of America.
Speaking of America, we've got a great American show today coming off a huge W,
a huge victory at the President's Cup with a singles domination.
We get into all of it.
Kids is fresh off the broadcast.
We've got the entire crew, and it's all brought to you by Chevy coming off the President's Cup victory.
and a lot to talk about gentlemen.
Yeah, Kiz is like exhausted on the show
from literally covering the president's cup.
That's where you're coming to foreplay now.
We have changed this show so much
that it went from a couple idiots
given their takes from just watching this golf on their couch
to the guy that's literally calling it.
Like the guy that we are sitting on the couch listening to
is now on the show giving his breakdown
on what he saw an amazing, amazing weekend here for Team USA.
And like you said, off the top, USA and Chevrolet, they go hand in hand, baby.
We've been on the road nonstop this year, all in Chevrolet.
We were just in New Jersey.
We were all over the place, Chicago.
Chevy, Chevy, Chevy, Chevy.
I have a Chevy Equinox out front right now.
I'm down in North Carolina for a few days.
Actually, like a week and a half.
I got a rental car.
Got a nice white Chevy Equinox.
They got a bunch of great options at Chevy when it comes to their SUV lineup.
Spacious traverse the flexible equinox, the track.
brings together value and style.
So make sure you check out the entire lineup.
It's the heartbeat of America, USA, red, white, and blue, the bow tie.
Check out the lineup at Chevy.com.
Oh, Rick.
What's up, my brother?
I got a buddy who struggles with that shot.
A lot of his name's Frankie Barrelli.
So the guys actually gave him a nickname of Butter Nives
because he was nice to the cross the green.
Brod 100.
Now you've got to break 90.
We appreciate what you guys do for golf.
It's been really cool.
Thank you.
You're making it cool.
I was like, hey, Phil, you own me fucking $29.99.
And he grabs 100.
He's like, yeah, I won 90,000 of these yesterday.
He goes, take 100 and go, fuck yourself.
What?
What are you guys taking?
It's ain't a hobby.
Four players.
Roy Barstool Sports.
It is the President's Cup, 2006.
Recap show, knee-jerk reaction show.
We got our very own Kevin Kisner minutes after doing the broadcast all damn weekend.
Long out there with NBC.
see the United States of America victorious.
Yet again, like a millionth time in a row,
we've only lost once, 14, 1 and 1 now all time.
A lot to break down.
I'm going through kind of the press conference right now.
Everybody's happy, go lucky.
We got Brandt Snetiker out there,
crediting pretty much President Trump for every shot hit today.
That went well for the United States of America.
So there's a ton to break down.
We were down three going into singles.
We won singles by a trillion.
I think we only lost two matters.
matches tied one or two and then won all the rest.
But, you know, it was a hell of a day, I would say.
Team events just continue to deliver.
I guess the national patriotic team events continue to just deliver on a completely different level in golf than anything else that we got.
And it's not even close.
These like singles matches when there's, you know, when the first match is on like 10th or 11th hole and the last match is on like the second hole,
There's 12 incredible matches out there and the board shaping up.
The crowds are going crazy.
It's just incredible.
I thought Medina was great.
But victorious, the United States of America.
There's a lot of positives.
There's some negatives.
But overall, another great President's Cup and another great victory for the United States of America.
Yeah, it turns out what gives this event juice is when it looks like Team USA is going to lose.
Because that was about as fired up as I've been going into a Sunday.
and yeah, I mean, listen, I was never, at no point was I thinking, man, it would be great if Team USA would lose this.
But if they were to lose this president's cup, it would give the event a ton of juice.
Instead, we go to Sunday singles where historically we're just very, very good, as opposed to some of the formats in the earlier days.
And we just run amok and we murder them.
So, you know, it was, it was a great president's cup in that, like, I really do think there's juice when the,
the mega, mega underdog has a chance to win it.
But then Team USA just does what we do.
We dominate on Sundays.
And I do wish, and I'm sure we'll get into all this.
But like in terms of an viewership standpoint, I do wish they would not do it
during football.
Because you could just tell.
Like my whole, I'm on social media all day long.
And it's a great president's cut because certainly early in the day was like,
wow, is this big upset actually going to happen?
And my whole feed, nobody cares in terms of just like the social presence of it.
Now, there's definitely a lot of people watching.
People can watch multiple screens nowadays.
But I just wish they would move it away from football because overall,
it was an incredible, incredible president's cup.
Kevin Kisner, you're in the booth.
That was your first time calling a team event like that, right?
Yeah, it was.
Since I've been working for NBC, I was fortunate enough to be an assistant captain
on both the last president's cup in Montreal and the Ryder Cup at Beth Page.
So it was cool to see the different sides of it because when you're out there as a captain,
and you don't get to actually see what the hell is actually happening.
You're just hearing it all on radio, seeing scoreboards,
and you're immersed into the thick of it while you're either watching a group
or trying to get something done that the team needs.
And so to be able to draw back for the first time in three years
and watch a team event and to react to it was great.
I thought it was an incredible comeback from the U.S. team.
I didn't love the Snedeker messaging last night about just basically blaming himself for everything.
but it worked out. It turned out great. Maybe that inspired his guys that come out.
I felt like he did some interesting things with the lineup on the singles matches,
obviously heavily front-loaded. I didn't love that he put Scotty Sheffler out there for
them to match with, but in the end, it turned out fantastic. I thought he could have
kept that in his back pocket for a little bit longer to see where he wanted to go.
But he had a system for Sunday, and it ultimately paid off.
just an incredible run out of the Americans.
I think the home crowd really ignited their team as a whole
when they got on a run,
and you could just feel the entire back nine,
the internationals played horrible.
They were winning holes with PARs, the U.S. team,
not forcing them to make birdies,
and you could just tell that the weight of the win
was too much for the internationals to overcome late in the President's Cup.
It's interesting, like going into that final day,
as a fan of viewer, you're just rooting for this comeback victory,
and it's hard to separate your mind from knowing that they were minus 400 going into this thing.
Their worst player was a higher rank than their best player, all those things going in.
It's funny how quickly that switches where all of a sudden you have this like underdog mentality.
If we're going to go out there and we're going to win singles, we're going to send these first two guys out and they're going to get things going.
And it is funny how the mentality switches.
But once you're in the mix and once you're in the middle of it and you're watching,
watching it as a fan. You're out there at Medina and you're one of those USA fans chanting and
getting everyone going. It doesn't matter with the pre-tournament rankings where golf is such a close
game. You know, those rankings are always so those pre-tournament odds are always so tough to actually
put any weight behind just because anyone of those guys and you saw it today like could win any match,
right? Even though we did run Sunday singles, those were all coming down to the 18th hole. A lot of
those matches. A lot of them were tied through 14, 15 holes. So these are all some of the best
golfers in the world. And it's just, you know, one bad shot, one missed putt. One guy leaves it on
the wrong side of the green. The other guy doesn't. And that wins you a president's cup. So it was
really fun to, uh, to see it get tight. I guess is really my point is. I think going in, I really didn't
have too much excitement with, uh, with what it was, you know, projected to be. And I'm happy the way it
turned out because it definitely was appointment viewing. Yeah, kids, to your point, uh, I think it was
Dan Hicks brought up an incredible staff.
There was only a couple groups left, so maybe the numbers changed a little bit,
but it was like the U.S. had won 20 holes on the back nine,
and 11 of them were one with bars.
Yeah, that's the stat I thought of when I was saying that about the back nine.
He got handed that one right towards the end of the broadcast,
and it was just mind-boggling to show the people watching just how that whole
back-nine transpired.
And then on Saturday, the internationals had all the momentum on the back-nine.
you know, taking down American flags that were up early in the matches.
So the Americans were able to totally change the landscape of the President's Cup on that back nine.
And to be quite honest, I mean, there's a lot of hard holes coming in,
but they weren't having to play exceptional golf to do it.
They were just having to make pars.
Win in, what did you say, 11 holes with par is just an incredible feat to show what has happened
at the end of the President's Cup.
Yeah, and I do think, like, there is this, this underlining feeling from all my golf
friend, golf fans that are all American that, like, party kind of roots for, like,
the cute international team.
You know, like, you can't help it.
You're like, I want, I kind of like, I like when they pair up the Japanese guys together,
and then they've got the, you got the Oz, you know, and like, and you can't help but kind of
be like, all right, they've lost 10 in a row.
They're four to one underdogs.
They're on foreign soil.
They've got the shield.
They've got language barriers.
And like, we're the big, mighty American team that's ranked higher than everybody else.
Like, you can't help but kind of root for them.
And at the end, you know, kind of what you were saying, Frankie, at the end, it did remind me of like, all right, I could not help but be like, let's fucking bury them now.
America, USA Chance.
The fans were awesome.
The roars were awesome.
Medina's cool.
needed to kind of get a little bit of vengeance on what happened in the Ryder Cup there 14 years ago.
So like that came into it for sure.
But when you're looking and like when they like killed us on Friday in the 5-0 and the foursums like,
I kind of loved it a little bit where I was like, all right, this is drama now.
This is like we got our fucking dicks kicked in.
We're losing.
There's going to be a lot of controversy.
Of course, like we lose foursomes historically to Europe and that's what kills us in the
Ryder Cup.
Now we just got beat 5-0 by these like,
big underdog internationals, and you could feel that like that's going to inject some crazy
storylines into this thing that just made it more interesting. And so it's, it's, it is like kind of
this feeling of like, you like that Trevor Emelman and Ernie Ells and Jeff Oglevy kind of brought
this shield in and they're trying to unite a team that's way underdogs. Like, you can't help
kind of root for them to be competitive and to win some matches and make it interesting up against like
the big dog, highest ranked highest paid Americans. Like, I guess.
get that mindset. I think a lot of people kind of feel that when they watch it.
Yeah, I talked to both Jeff Ogilvy and Brant Snetiker on the range before the matches
started today before we went on air. And it was fascinating how laid back both of them were.
They both felt comfortable with the position they were in and the matchups for the day.
And I was just fascinated that, especially the way Brandt was last night, he was pretty
down and being up himself and answering questions in a way that basically putting all the
blame on him, which good leaders do. They take the blame when things don't go well like coaches.
But he knew something. I mean, he knew that he felt good about the matchups and the way they
came out. And he even said it in the post-match interview with Clark Banks that he thought
he had screwed up the snake draft early in the week and didn't put his teams out in the best
position, but he thought he really nailed it for the singles. A lot of people have lots of opinions
on that, but it worked. So everybody that has a negative opinion isn't saying much now that
they came back and had the most dramatic beat in singles,
nine and a half to two and a half in the single session is an incredible feat to come back from.
I was shocked that they didn't grab it.
The internationals weren't able to grab any of those early matches,
just off a sheer match play.
Somebody's going to play better.
You would think somebody from the international side is going to do it.
I know you had Tom Kim go out and get an early point,
but then there was a lot of Americans in a row and the momentum
and the roars just really got the guys going.
And that little loop with the renovation,
once you get to about 16T,
man, you can just feel it.
And 15, 16, 17, 18,
they're all right there together.
And the crowds were going crazy.
And those guys were just stepping up
and hitting shots for the U.S. side.
Yeah, like, you could feel that on TV,
the amphitheater type spots.
But Cantlay made that 57 foot putt,
like things were just going.
our way finally that you need to have go our way whereas you know the first couple days it was like
I think another stat you guys threw out early in the broadcast kids was there was like the U.S.
had led for like 120 something holes compared to the internationals had led for like 70 something
and yet we were down three points so it's like we've been leading the whole time we're just
losing these matches at the last second it felt like me and Trent and Ireland out there it's like
we're just trying to lead the whole time I mean somehow we're losing these matches left and right
And it's in it in it in and then you know, I feel for those guys too because, you know,
we were talking about it off the jump with like the favorite and the world ranking.
It's still golf as golf.
At any point if you were like, hey, Siwu Kim beat Scotty Shefford today on Friday of this PJ
tour event by two strokes.
Nobody would be like that shocking to me.
Like they're all really good.
They could do that at any time.
So, you know, we all kind of understand that I think as golf fans.
But I feel for the nerves and the pressure that the.
US team does have to play under of like how scrutinized they get by us and everyone else.
How scrutinized they were going to get if they lost.
Like Paul McGinley was talking about that online from just now too.
He was like, it was a very clear feeling of like if this team loses this, I think like
Frankie put it last time it gets a fucking disaster.
And everybody knows it's a disaster.
When you're out there trying to play to just avoid a disaster, that's like really
hard to play that way.
And you feel when other team has a long putt go in or a chip go in,
You feel like, fuck, it's happening to us again.
We can't quite get over the hump.
And so to see them come out again in singles, which is our thing,
and just dominate and get the matches done and hit the shots under pressure
on the back nine when the internationals couldn't quite do it.
Like the pressure had flipped from like, oh, they're the fun underdog mentality
to like you could tell then kids like,
they started to feel like, okay, now actually we could win the President's Cup
for the first time.
And that was like too much for them to handle.
whereas it a lot of times feels like for Team USA,
all of it's a little too much to handle
and we just kind of throw away matches at the end.
And this time it was like the internationals
were they just knew if they could get a couple more points
in these tied matches.
They'd win the President's Cup and they just like couldn't handle that.
Yeah, I think I said on the air,
after Dan said that stat about how many holes we had won but not and we're down,
it's like an offense and football having the ball the entire game
and then losing.
And just hard analogy to understand.
understand is how lopsided the amount of holes we had won from Team USA to still be down three
points. But it almost put us in a decent position because all the pressure went back on to the
internationals and the singles. It was like, you're so close to doing this dramatic feat that nobody
thought you had a chance to and you're so close you can touch it, feel it. And once that started
landsliding the other way, like you said, it was just like the moment was too big for these guys
coming down the stretch.
They tried to backfill their team a little bit in the singles so that if it did get
that way, they had all their studs coming down, but nobody could produce late.
I think it had something to do with how many guys they played all four sessions.
They played five guys, all four sessions, just running out a little bit of steam.
You saw that with Siwu Kim, who had been outstanding in first four sessions,
not able to hold on against Jackson Coyven on the back nine.
At some point, it's like, man, I have put all this energy in all.
all this into getting us to this point.
And I've just run out of gas.
I think a few guys definitely did that.
And Ryan Fox just got completely outplayed in that anchor position by Zander Shoffley
and him getting up four with four to play, basically put that match out of reach.
So it all came down into that Bridgman Henley-Koeven section.
And I even told the guys this morning before we went on the air that the Jackson-Coyven-Chi-Roo-Kim match is going to be pivotal.
because just how it shaped out in the first six or seven matches,
you knew the Americans were going to win the majority of them.
And Siwu Kim's been their best player all week.
And he's playing against a 21-year-old kid that is so fired up to be there
that it's going to be interesting to watch that energy all day.
And I think the young energy and the rookie that was fired up
and completely confident just overdid Siwu Kim,
which was a pivotal moment with Siwu being somewhat out of energy
late in the matches on Sunday,
When everyone's pulling against you, man, it's emotionally, mentally draining to have the entire weight of the crowds against you.
You're trying to make these huge moment puts.
And when they're not going in, man, it just feels like the door's closing on you.
Snetiker had a weird week for sure.
I mean, we always say that winning, you can just make whatever the narrative, whatever you want.
You can change it however you'd like.
You know, they go down pretty early.
They're down going into Sunday.
His demeanor was very, he looked small and his hat, like, everything was very strange.
His hat looked very large.
His demeanor was very sad.
He was always hunched over.
He was saying he blamed himself.
At one point, he didn't remember the matchups on the T-box on Saturday.
He didn't know who he had sent out.
You know, like the reporter had to remind him who his pairings were.
All of these things were leading to an absolute disaster.
But similar to like when Zach Johnson captain a team, we were all like, oh, my God,
that guy just didn't know how to do his role.
Like, you only, you're not hitting golf shots.
like you only have a certain amount of roles and that's to be confident that's to lead that's to say
the right things and interviews and he just was fumbling and fumbling and fumbling and i'm not taking a single
thing away from him whatever he did in the locker room whatever he did with these guys the matchups
they all worked up but when you win it works if you lose that my goodness i don't know if we see sneds
for a long time i think it was similar to the zack thing but the thing that and i'm trying to remember
all of like the zack quotes from that rider cup but i don't remember a ton of i'm taking all of the
blame. It was a lot of, they had a bad session and Zach would say, I think our guys played great.
I think we're doing a great job out there. And the rest of us were like, what do you mean?
We're going to lose this. He said like, he's like, I actually really love the position that we're in
right now. It was like, we're we lost every match. I'd say, you can't love that. Right. Right. I kind of
love the Snetiker like, I fucked up. It's on me. Like, then I do think you get a rallying call going
just amongst the players of like, all right, our guy, our leader thinks he fucked up, but let's go out there.
and proved to the world that we're doing the right thing.
We just got to play a little bit better.
We're leading all these holes.
And then during when we come down the stretch,
we end up losing it.
So we're close.
And Brent Snetikers out there.
His hat looks huge.
He looks sad.
He's saying like it's all my fault.
But then I do think like,
you know,
again,
I'm not a player and maybe kids can speak to it.
But I think having that burden fall on you as opposed to saying like we're playing
great and then people being like the players are playing like shit.
I think taking that energy and pulling it and pouring it on
yourself is actually a great way to lead in that scenario.
I mean,
I'm a piece of shit.
My opinion really means nothing.
But to me,
it's just an admission of guilt in the middle of a competition.
It's like,
like we have the better teams.
Like,
you don't have to keep all the day and everyone.
We're down three.
We can go dominate tomorrow.
There's just things about it.
We're weird.
We all like,
we all know that it's the players out there who play.
So it's,
it's like if it's not the captain who's doing a bad job,
then it's the players.
So he's like,
I'll take all that energy.
because the people are going to blame the players if they just think like,
hey, I'm playing.
I think our team's doing okay.
We just didn't do a couple things, right?
Everyone on the outside, whether they care about that opinion or not is up to debate.
But like, people will be like, well, the players are playing like,
shit, we got the best players in the world and they can't beat this team that was,
we were minus 500 favorite.
So I actually, I kind of see what Snedz was doing.
If it was that calculated, which I think I kind of agree, I think it might have been,
then I do think that was his angle, was like, I'm going to take all of the attention on to me.
and let these guys be free of it, clear of it,
and maybe they'll even rally around like defending me
and wanting to get the W for me tomorrow.
But I'm going to go out there and be like,
this is my fault.
I've made mistakes.
I hold them accountable.
Now they,
they got to hold me accountable too was kind of the way.
But like Frankie's saying,
with the wet looking hat and all that,
it was hard to trust that he was like in control of the narrative.
Why do you mean wet looking hat?
I didn't. Every time he was on there, just like he looked very small. There's something about his like presence felt. And that's coming from a small person. But like, you know what I mean? It wasn't that like when you think of a leader, you picture just like a bigger, I don't know, like a coach oh kind of guy like a guy with a lot of energy and like everything was hunched kind of forward. He was letting the weight of the event in my eyes get to him. And you know what? If that's like a fall on the sword type strategy thing and it worked by the way. It worked. So like it does not matter.
matter. That meme where the guy's taking all the arrows where he's like standing over the bed.
Yeah. Literally is like to our perspective, if you're just like tuning into the president's
cup and you're watching the captain speak to the nation and he has his hands like literally like rubbing on his forehead and he's like, I don't really know.
Yeah, I don't think that was calculated as much as Saturday night was more calculated.
I think he was literally so stressed out and so wound tight about getting the wind that he didn't know how to respond in certain.
situations because things were unraveling and not going in the direction that he saw.
And he didn't know, like that interview with Carl was pitiful and he couldn't even think of his
team and he's apologizing the whole time.
In fact, Dan Hicks had to go on the button and was like, car, tell him it's got her up.
I mean, he's like, it's a terrible.
Dan even mentioned.
Dan was like, I've been in that situation.
You're on live TV and you just cannot come up with it.
It was loud.
I was like, I could tell he was not getting there.
So I just told her to tell him.
And that was an interesting interview.
But I think by Saturday night, once he did the pairings and then went in there for the press conference, that that game plan was his idea.
Like, hey, I'm going to, I'm going to explain that it's all my fault.
I want all the players to go back and hear these quotes, watch these quotes, that I didn't set them up for success.
I'm taking the blame.
They've done nothing wrong.
So they're the most confident they can be tomorrow and they want to come out and prove me right.
Yeah, it was the opposite of Zach Johnson, where Zach Johnson was the, it's fine meme.
You know, that's what he was doing.
The entire Rider Cup and everyone's like,
he just was so see-throughable when he was doing that.
Everyone's like, that's, what are you talking about?
It's like now mathematically over.
Like, we lost the Rider Cup.
Stop saying everything's going according to plan.
And this was kind of the full opposite of that.
I do think, too, it speaks to one of the beautiful chaotic things about these team events,
the Rider Cup and the President's Cup,
is that it is a leader.
like Frankie just said, who like addresses the nation on behalf of the Rider Cup team,
it is a leader who is in no way a professional leader.
It's just a player who's a little bit older than the other players
that ceremoniously like gets this role.
And it should be that way.
I think it should consistently be that way.
I know we've probably floated a lot of ideas about do you bring in like a fucking
Nick Saban to fix the Ryder Cup team and make them the captain.
But a beauty of these team events is this, like Brantz's,
Snetica is not a like general manager of a baseball team or like head coach of an NFL franchise
type figure.
But for two years, you know, and one long week of every two years, like he is the guy and
that Cara Banks holds the microphone up.
He's like, this guy's supposed to know what to say right now to inspire the nation,
but also put his team in their place, but also take accountability.
And he's up there just like, my fucking brain's not working.
I don't know, man.
Like I just, you know, I made a lot of.
putts, I want a couple golf tournaments.
Now you guys made me the head coach on the team USA.
I don't know.
And like I understand that.
I very much,
you feel for him a little bit.
And he's trying to take all this accountability.
And reality,
I'm sure he wants to go back to his hotel room,
be like,
if the best players in the world would just play fucking better than the guys
that aren't as good as they are,
we would just win this fucking tournament.
But he like can't, you know,
he's sort of like,
trying to be this leader.
And so all of it is very,
it's awesome.
Like,
it's great television.
That made it so interesting.
The guys I was with, we were on the golf course.
We weren't like, I didn't see the interview live.
And people were like, you see what Brantznet?
What's happening with Brantznetica?
Is he okay?
And we were like breaking down what he said.
Team USA's in turmoil.
Then they come out and win nine and a half points.
It's just all of it is like this beautiful chaos in golf where we have an individual sport.
And then all sudden it's like our favorite football team once a year.
And when everything's not perfect, we can't believe it.
And they don't really have a permanent leader.
And the leader is not even.
leader. He's just a golfer. And it's like all
of it's interesting and so
fun to watch. And yeah, I mean,
they won. So now he gets to, he gets
to give all the credit to whoever he wants to give the credit to.
And he, and he's getting emotional
afterwards, which I love. And, and
it's all great now. But yeah, it's
great. I love watching it, man. I love
watching it. Don't you think we should
have a permanent leader? We should have
a permanent leader.
I don't think so.
The landscape of the game changes so much
and you have so many turnover in the teams.
It's going to be so hard to have that leader have the clout with the new turnover.
I think that's what makes the captain seat great is you have people that, like Jackson Coyman said,
I'm going to walk by these guys and not be like, oh, there's Xander Schaffley over there anymore
because I'm as teammate now and I won the President's Cup with him.
I'm going to go have dinner with them.
And that is the whole cool part about making teams playing the PGA tour, being successful and being on them,
is then you get to go lead them.
And I don't think if you had one guy,
I mean, we said Nick Savin,
if he was there and he's 70 years old,
I don't think he's going to relate to Jackson Coyven
and make Jackson Coyven feel great about playing great.
He just, it's a different sport, different thing.
I think the problem is you have the most self-centered,
selfish profession in the world
because it's an individual sport that each person runs their own,
they're in their own CEO of their own business all the time,
and then they're thrown into that leadership role.
And it's like, all of a sudden,
I do everything for everyone else,
but for 25 years,
I've only done what's best for me,
including leaving my family and doing other things all the time
to make me the most successful I could be.
And now it's like, whatever Zander Schofley and Patrick Cantlay need,
I think that's a tough part.
I think that the team needs someone to help the captain
with messaging interviews, team culture building.
There's plenty of them out there.
Every college football coach has one.
Every NFL team has one.
I know I talked about a ton when Kirby Smart wins a big game
and Holly Roe sticks the mic in his face.
A guy has handed him a card with notes on it,
on just things to hit in the interview so that he's got it fresh on his mind.
If that person was standing there right before Brandt would have gone on with Carr Banks,
the interview would have gone flawlessly,
said, holy cow, he's handling this perfectly.
But instead, he's just got done putting parents out.
He just got his ass kicked.
And now there's a microphone is hand on national TV.
And he's like, I don't really know what's going on, man.
My guys are playing like shit.
My whole plan sucks.
I've worked on it for a year and a half now.
I've got everybody I think that I need to succeed.
And it's fucked.
So here.
Thanks a lot, Cara.
Back to you, Dan.
I'm with rigs, though.
I like the unpolished nature of it.
where you're just like we're getting our asses kicked in uh brand center because we're wearing a bear's hat because he's just like i want to wear local flare get the crowd on my side we're getting our dicks kicked in and he's like go bears you're like oh right go bears they're going to love me go bears they're going to love me out here yeah you know it's um it is like we've done enough team events now too that are on a hilariously less you know like scale um whether
whether it was the Riter Cup that we did.
We've done a couple of those.
We did the Inter-Invitational last year,
obviously whether you're like,
being a captain or you're part of working with the captain to do pairings,
and shit gets away from you fast, man, like really, really fast.
You don't really remember sometime who all is exactly on your team.
Who'd you say you were going to pair with who?
Then you had this master plan to match up with them,
but then they match up that team first.
You're like, wait a second, wait, we'll put them out.
And then it's like, wait, that was stupid,
but you're like, I just had to say a name.
I don't know what to do.
And it feels like that sort of is like what you're watching happen.
And, you know, I think the President's Cup doing the snake draft where you get to match up is electric.
It is such a cool wrinkle.
It makes watching the press conference in the evening when they do it unreal.
Like when they, when we threw out Scotty and they did like what we do in those barstool events,
we're like, oh, we're going to like throw this match.
And they were throwing Nico at him because he hadn't played the entire time and he didn't play great on Thursday.
Like,
To see them do that at the Scotty Sheffler level was, like, unbelievable.
They're like, this is what we're going to do.
So I think that part of it is such a cool element.
I know they'll never change anything about the writer come.
They wouldn't even change the fact that, like, you can just be injured and you just tie
maps.
So, like, they're never going to change any traditional stuff about it.
But I think that wrinkle in the president's cup is really cool.
I love having, you guys having Paul McGinley on their kids because he is so intrinsically
tied to team Europe and all their success.
And, like, hearing he is.
so he's so centered on a lot of the stuff that's not the golf playing part of it and how much
it matters that I love that insight when he was like I first saw the lineup and he's like I was I knew
what they were doing I understood what Jeff Ogilvy was doing it could work out it could not he's like
I didn't hate it but my big concern was that like you're going to lose momentum early and give the
home crowd that momentum that they like to feed off of and that could really make something you can't
come back from and that was exactly what happened like we
one like five of those first six.
They're hoop and putts.
The crowd's into it going nuts and loud.
Morikawa said that fueled him.
Jackson Coyven said that fueled him.
And like you can't really recover from that.
Momentum in sports is like the most insanely real but like not real thing.
But it matters a lot and everybody knows it and you could feel it out there.
So all that going into it is why the captain is really cool.
And the fact that we just throw it to somebody every two years that's like completely unqualified for it.
might be great and they might not, I think is a beautiful thing.
It's psychotic that this big entity does it.
But like, I kind of love that we do that.
I do too.
It's a fascinating, fascinating business.
I'm curious as who they want to go to next.
I know we're moving on quickly.
But, I mean, I think Jeff Ogilvy did such a stand-up job.
They announced it's going to be in Australia.
You've got to give him the keys to it.
at his home country for 28.
And I'll be curious to see if they let Snedz roll with it again.
He's young and seems to have built some real rapport.
If Jim asked him to help him in a dare manner,
then, you know, Snedz is young enough that he would take it again.
So you'd always get better.
Everything we do in life would get better with experience.
And I know if Snedz had to start over again tomorrow
and do that same week again, he would make tons of changes.
But at the end of the day, he won the President's Cup.
That was the sole goal.
and nobody will remember or care that we got slashed in the foursums or he didn't think he made his picks in the snake draft in the correct order at the end of the day.
All we'll remember is that the internationals have only won once and tied once and it's 14 one and one.
Are you going to be on the call in 2028?
Does NBC have the next president's cup?
I would assume they would.
I'm not really sure.
It's a long, long.
long, well, that's what actually Clark Banks said while I was, I was sitting with her before we went on the air on Saturday.
And she said, imagine if NBC only has Saturday and Sunday in Australia and we fly 25 hours for two days of work.
You're like the rain.
Yeah, that would be a tough when we all, I think on our last pod made sure to tell the world how much flying Australia sucks.
So, um, sucks.
Yeah, that'd be tough.
It's tough.
Maybe we'll do the Sean McVeigh program where we just go the day before and stay on your local time.
Dude, I really liked Australia, too.
Like, Australia was insane.
It had a blast.
But one of the funniest parts of it is that it's the least culture shock of any foreign country I've ever been to.
So you fly forever.
You fly like 10 hours longer than is way too long, it feels like.
And you get off and there's just like McDonald's and Domino's and everybody speaks English.
like talking about the NBA games last night.
You're just like, what the fuck is the same place?
Instead of squirrels, there's kangaroos, which is a little bit of an eye-opener.
For sure.
It's like, all right, we're definitely on the different axis now.
Can I ever tell you a story Adam Scott told me about getting kicked in the chest by a kangaroo?
No.
Oh, God.
Yeah, it's relevant because he played on the president's cup and you said kangaroo, but I was playing
with him one time and I was asking him my craziest thing this ever happened to him in Australia or something.
And he said, mate, one time I was out practicing late by myself in Australia.
And I was on a tea box and I was hitting multiple balls and there was brushes like bushes around the tea.
And he said, I looked over and there's a kangaroo coming out of the bushes.
And I was like a real live, like wild kangaroo.
And he said, yeah.
And I said, what do you do with that situation?
Because I've never interacted with one.
And he's like, well, you're supposed to kind of chill like a bear or something, I think is what he told me.
But anyway, the interaction ended up where the kangaroo got pissed, charged him,
and stood up on his hind legs and kicked him in the freaking chest.
And I said, what happened?
He goes, do you know how strong kangaroos are?
I said, no idea, dude.
No idea.
He goes, I flew like 15 feet in the air across the tee.
Tea ball club goes flying.
And he goes, as I'm flying, like, well, I'm dead because she or he's going to come kick my ass till my death.
And I said, what happened?
he said, I land on the ground and it just ran away
and nobody was there to see it.
And I'm just, he said, my chest hurt
so bad. I thought she broke my entire chest.
So look it up, Ryan.
I think right. I think right. I think right. I think
right. I think, like you watch the,
don't they sit on their own tails and kick?
Their tail. Their tails
that I mean, there's certainly strong.
There's the classic video of the guy
fighting the kangaroo. That was like an early viral video
where he punches the kangaroo and they just square up.
You ever see that one, kids?
No.
Oh,
classic video guy punching kangaroo.
Also,
watch this kangaroo take it on the chin and look at them and be like,
what the fuck?
While he pulls that up,
I like,
Adam Scott having that story,
that's what you're from Australia for.
Like if you're from Australia,
I want you to have a story of a kangaroo kicking you in the chest
and you fly in 15 feet.

Kiz and I, of course, as soon as our contest ended, you know, our crypto accounts have started to, I would say, skyrocket, which is really nice to see.
Another thing that's nice to see is the crack card just launched.
Cracken's crack card just launched in the U.S.
You're already spending an irresponsible amount of money on golf trips, on tea times, on hotels, on equipment.
You might as well get something back for it.
You can get up to 2% cash back on everyday spending and choose whether you want it in cash or Bitcoin, no monthly account maintenance fees.
You can get a virtual card instantly.
And once you've got $200 in your account, you could get the physical card up to 6% cash back on hotels booked through the crack app with around 2.2 million hotels available.
And you could spend across 600 plus currencies.
And then you could just add the card to Apple Pay or Google Pay and eligible money you're not spending.
can earn up to 5% AP.
Why, the crack card is live in the U.S.
Now, all you got to do, go to crackin.com slash barstool to learn more.
That is crackin.com slash barstool.
I want to give a little love to the positives and the brightness of the future with our couple studs.
Jackson Coyvin today and really the entire week.
But today he was unbelievable down the stretch, a ton of swagger, 21 years old.
you know, a little bit of a controversial captain's pick being pretty far down on the world rankings
and having just turned professional.
And then Chris Godder up, you know, I know we had three rookies.
Jacob Bridgman ended up, but he had some great moments.
I think he was a little bummed out.
I think yesterday he went 0 and 2.
But you want to talk about the future, you know, and we try to get hyped up about the future of Team USA golf.
And we were, we were damn close this morning to walking into you guys even did a whole goddamn segment.
It is about like cups that are not in the possession of the.
United States currently and it was like every cup in the world and you want to talk about doom and gloom
and how close we were to that well then I you know I want to get a little inspiration going and
saying holy shit is it nice to see a couple fresh faces out there in the red white and blue that were
just there for the moment like they both were just ready for it they brought it um jackson
coiff been doing like all the tiger kind of mannerisms with the swagginess of the of the of the
twirl and the walking after his ball and striping a draw at that right pin on the 18th pole
to close out that match was so sick. So yes, there's plenty of like, oh my God, that was a
close call. Imagine if we would have lost. That would have been quite the disaster. Five and O enforoms
and foursomes and we're historically not great enforcersms against Europe and all that.
We got a couple bright spots going forward and I think that's going to be huge for us.
Yeah, I like Godder up talking about how nervous he was, how he was, you know, the first day he really
struggled that he had to find a way to calm down.
I thought he played great in the singles match,
even though he's starting to let it slip away a little bit,
was able to step up and get it done.
But the coven reaction on 18 is like,
makes the hair on the back of your neck stand up.
I mean,
when he hit that T ball after Siwu had already striped it down the middle,
and then Siwu had hit a decent shot in there to 20, 15, 20 feet,
and then he stands up and ropes a drawl in there inside of Siwu Kim.
I mean, that's what dreams are made of, man, and that's the kind of dude you want on your team.
I think it solidified the entire reason for Sned's picking him.
And I thought Snedd's answer on why he picked him is because he was trusting his gut.
And that's what every coach he reached out to for advice told him to do was trust his gut.
He wanted Jackson Coyvin.
He played practice rounds with him after he got on tour, trying to get to know him better, watch his game.
And he wanted that kid on his team, the only undefeated American for the week, Jackson Coyven, 21 years old.
And he's probably going to learn how to do some drinking at night.
Good.
Yeah, incredible.
He gave himself some like all time moments.
Those are clips that will play on for the rest of golf history.
That's how good that is.
You have a 21-year-old rookie going out there becoming the best player of the week.
Everyone seemed to rally around him.
You saw the reaction of the rest of his team.
They love them.
They love having him in the locker.
And they love having him around.
And he's just got that dog mentality.
I mean, just flicking the wrist, walking it off.
all the twirls the whole entire i mean that gets the people going i know a lot of the president's cup
didn't overtake a lot of the things of sunday football slate especially on social media and stuff
but that's the one moment that kind of broke through it's jackson coivan it's a name everyone was
hyped up to see how he would play in this environment and he's delivered and that's something exciting
this guy could be on on team events for the next 20 years and that's like all right we've got a guy
now that could set wreck you know i mean like this is it he could be the next thing that takes
this American team to the next level.
So that's,
that for me is my biggest takeaway coming out of this is Jackson Coyven,
absolute superstar,
pumped that we had him on the show.
He had no energy on our show and saved it all for the 18th hole at the President's
Cup.
Yeah,
he was conserving that energy for that moment,
which now that we know the truth,
that I'm happy that he did that and that it played out that way.
That's a kind of moment, man.
Like the way, that hole was playing hard, by the way.
Remember Hodecky making a mess of that hole?
people made we saw even like more kawa and bazade newt hit like pretty solid shots into that hole and had like 50 foot flagputs because it was playing so difficult so for him to stripe it and then flag it to win that match um that's a type of moment that if you're eighth or ninth in points in a team event uh for captain's picks over the next six years they remember that moment and you get picked for the team because of those moments you know that's like Justin Thomas has like been in that
spot a handful of times it feels like and we remember back to like he is kind of the lightning
ride in the team USA tournament team tournament team event guy and he gets the captain's pick
every time for that and I feel like that's just a moment that like yep for the next 12 years
as long as you're not going like full Jordan speed in his bad years you're on these you're on
these teams because of that moment so uh love love seeing that out of him and got her up to
is like I heard him talk today.
He was like, quite frankly, I did not feel good coming in this week with my game.
My game is just not good right now.
I did not have my A game, but I gutted out a way to like help my team and deliver a bunch of points.
That's just like a scrappy gamer type mentality that I think is a little bit of the DNA more so of some of the opposing teams,
not always the American team it feels like.
So having that kind of mentality from another rookie on our squad, I felt like those are just two really,
really good additions to our squad going forward.
Yeah, I was a little worried about Godder up with the way he played 17,
knowing what was on the line, knowing the moment he was in.
He wiped that nasty wedge on 17 in the right bunker,
then had a five-footer to win the match and whiffed it.
And going to 18, I'm like, dude, he's got to be in a feeling bad about his game right now.
And he's got to go get a four somehow and stood up there and hit two great shots
and was able to lag a two-putt down there to win the matches.
is those are moments that you fall back on, man.
Like later in your career and if you're on,
continue to be on teams,
you're like,
I've done this.
I can do it again.
I don't have to have my best stuff.
It'll help him in major championships when you just don't have it on a Saturday
and you've got to figure out how to get it around.
All those things,
all those experiences continue to help you help.
And I think the confidence of Jackson Cloyvin,
he's 21 years old,
doesn't even have a date here at the President's Cup with him,
I saw.
And so he's probably going to play like four more times.
this fall because what the hell else does he do he likes to play golf he could just go out and win a bunch
of tournaments and just get on a roll where the rest of the team's going to take off probably the rest
of the fall so i think those two guys stood out um incredible week out of both of them i loved how much
j t took him under his wing you know j t finished his match went straight back out there
walk every step of the way with jackson coiven all the way to 18 first guy that or second guy i think
jackson high-fived as soon as he hit that iron shot and club twirled and started down
dancing around like Tiger Woods.
It's a really cool moment.
Keegan Bradley is standing right there.
And those are the things that why you play the game
as those team matches is having your entire team on that green
pulling for you and you pull it off.
Like that is just what the moments are for.
Yep.
Yes.
It was J.T. couldn't have played it better.
And him kind of like almost,
it felt like Coyvin was like taking some of the energy
that JT usually brings to these things
and it like injected that energy
into Coyvin a little bit because like we said
he could be a little just kind of like
even keel out there which is fine, nothing wrong with that
and he just had that that swagger
I did not see coming at the end and that was
that was sick that gives me a lot of excitement going forward
Cam Young Cam Young is just an absolute stud
he is a stud he is like impervious
to anything negative that's going on out there
or anything at all really it feels like
He is just steady, strong.
He wins matches.
He wins points.
This is two team events in a row now on Sunday singles where we just sent him out first.
And he just delivered a point and got all the momentum going.
He did it at Beth Page.
He did it again this time.
So I just have to give a shout at the came on because he might be our overall best team player we got.
Yeah, he incredible because he was losing it.
I think it was two down after four holes.
But he was, according to Dad of Golf,
We were looking at that all week for the stats because for some reason we can't do stats of these team events.
This is a PGA tour.
I have no idea why that's impossible.
But he was like five strokes better than the next guy of all 24 guys, according to DadaGoff, heading into the singles.
Which is incredible.
I mean, he would be leading the tournament by eight if he was playing by himself.
So to see him get off to somewhat of a slow start in the singles, I think that everybody shook.
But once he started turning around, it was over.
That momentum train was rolling.
he makes a 40-footer on the 16th hole to win the match,
just right in the middle, breaking six feet, incredible putt.
That's your dog, man.
You got to throw him back out there.
He was super chatty.
Brad and I was talking about this on the air.
Brad and I walked over the range.
We didn't get to talk to a lot of guys because we came on the air at 11,
but Cam was chatting it up, man.
And Brad was asking me, he's like, do you think that's ner-like?
He's more talkative than ever.
Cam's not a big talkative guy.
I mean, he'll talk to me, but he doesn't know you.
He's probably not even going to gnaug as you exist.
And he was chatting it up with us about everything.
I mean, he stopped his warm up, talked to us for five minutes about just random stuff.
So I don't know if that was nervous energy or if he was feeling that good about his game that he's like,
I'm ready whenever y'all tell me to go.
And the other crazy thing I saw was Rio hit Sasuni.
He, I think he warmed up for two hours today.
I mean, I don't know.
He was, our booth was right in between the putting green and the range.
And we had to go in early because Trump was coming.
so we didn't know how bad the security was going to be.
So we're just sitting there with nothing to do at 8.30 in the morning waiting.
And I looked out there at 915 and his caddy and him are on the putting green.
He doesn't tee off to 1102.
Then I went over to the range.
It was 10.
And he's hitting drivers.
I was like drivers.
We don't play for an hour.
And his wife is his coach.
It's a hilarious combo.
Just the whole thing was making me laugh.
Jeff Ogilvie and I stood there for 20 minutes watching Rio hits that soon.
He hit drivers.
hour before his tea time with his wife filming him and telling him to put his arm a little more that
way. I was like, man, this is, this, this is this must see TV right here. I don't know why we're not
rolling this. That's so similar to, uh, when we saw Aaron Rye at the PJ championship up at Oak Hill.
Yeah. He was an alternate possibly. I don't think he was in the field that he was like waiting to maybe
get in. And, uh, he had his whole family out there and they were wearing like leather jackets and jeans.
and one of the guys was just like dropping golf balls in the heavy rough by the chipping like by the putting green and he was just he would like wedge went onto the green they would walk over grab the ball bring it back and bury another one and they would all just talk about how they were about to approach this next one as a team it was unbelievable
i don't win you i don't win you a major championship i want a major championship because would you say before that you're not allowed to use stats what does that mean what is what does the stats thing mean no like on our computers every tour event we have all the shot link data and for
some reason at the at this one we we we didn't have like strokes gain and all that stuff that we
normally use but i understand why because it's foursums not hitting every shot so data golf has
some formula that we all were using for the stats that they were i don't know how they were doing it but
we don't have our normal shot link data on every week where i can say oh yeah cam young's you know
four and a half strokes gain positive putting this week we don't have any of that on our computers
all right that does make sense because you're like playing the other guys ball off the time you're
hitting in different spots.
Yeah.
You're not finishing out holes.
You're not hitting buts.
There's concessions all the time.
There's a couple of crazy things that happen.
I don't know where you were trying to go next rigs.
But how about the,
did y'all see the Cory Connors hooked iron shot left of the split rail fence?
The fan kicked back into 10 feet.
Insane.
They told him about a bounds.
I tweeted like,
that's insane.
And every response was like,
how is that insane?
It's clearly just out of bounds.
It clearly was intentional.
was the mental.
How could it be intentional?
Yeah.
Is this guy like a ninja warrior?
First of all.
And of course.
So the rule is, and I can't believe how matter of fact they're like, yeah, that's just
out of bounds.
Because like when you guys came back from, for, from, oh, I was losing my mind in commercial.
Yeah, during commercial, I guess like they just decided what it was going to be.
And like he was just like chipping for five or six, whatever it was.
And I'm thinking of myself, oh, this is going to be an insane debate on what is intentional
and what is by accident.
Like, intentional would be, the word intentional is insane in that scenario.
Like, you're telling me that guy is like, if a ball comes this way, I'm kicking it onto the
green.
I have intent to kick that ball into the green.
If that's not the case, then every other scenario is accidental.
Like, even if it's a reaction to, like, save yourself from getting hit, you kick the ball
away from it hitting you in the dome, like in between the eyeballs that ball was going to.
So, like, how is that not a natural,
reaction.
I have no idea.
I told Mark Deosbobbich
that was in the, he's in the 18th Tower with us.
I said if I was Jeff Ogilvy,
the entire President's Cup would have stopped
and we would have stood on that second green.
And every rules official y'all have
would have to come explain to me
how y'all were Godgiven's gift
to tell me that some random
dudes laying down by the split rail fence
could palae this ball
and it goes back in.
bounds and you tell me it was intentional.
If I was Jeff Ogilvy, we would stop the entire competition until we got to the end of this
because the fact that y'all can call this intentional is insane.
The fence is eight feet off the green.
So like everything there, everything there should be just like hectic chaos.
There's no way you should say that that was intentional.
That's a crazy ruling.
That's an insane ruling.
We're going to have to start using that more on tour.
I told him.
I said, now every time a fan like reaches his hand up and it totally.
as a ball, you should make them just play it from where it should have gone.
I mean, this is insane.
Yeah.
My other crazy one was the Scotty Schephler interview today.
You all see that one?
I don't know if this is on your list, but taking over your show.
Yeah, very snappy.
No, I like that.
What was that?
He gets that way with the media quite a bit.
Yeah, but he's going to, he's going to quickly lose like, I'm this really nice guy
if you continue to treat people that way, I think.
I think you could probably, and I can't do it off the top of my head,
you could probably think of at least three to four examples in the last year and a half to two years
where he will be like, I don't want to talk about that and we're talking about something else.
He kind of did it in the post around press or two.
They asked him about the NICO situation with the fan and giving the put for par.
And he was like, he gave like a five second explanation.
He's like, and that's the last I'm talking about it.
And it was like, man, this guy, he just doesn't want to deal.
with questions like that in any way shape or form it seems like.
And he's had a handful of the ones where he makes the interviewer sound like a moron
for asking that question kind of thing.
Yeah.
Yeah.
That's the perception I got.
Colorado Banks kind of threw it back in his face today.
I was proud of her because he said, we just played around a golf or we're not going to
talk about anything I just did.
I thought I played great or whatever.
And she's like, well, I started the interview with 14 and you said you didn't want to talk about it.
Oh, good.
nice work.
And then there was the one I remember when he like,
he played shitty one day,
played great the next.
And they were like,
what did you change in your game today?
As opposed to yesterday,
he's like,
I didn't change anything.
Why would I change anything?
And it's like he's got little things like that where he does not,
it's like,
he got comfortable enough where you,
you get to a certain point and you're like,
I'm not going to listen to this shit.
Now,
I'm not dealing with it.
Yeah,
the perception of you might change,
but I'm not sure he cares about that.
Yeah,
I don't either.
I just thought it was an odd live TV team event.
you just won.
Yeah.
There was obviously a big thing that happened.
You could have just said the guy's an idiot.
I did what I thought was right.
Move on.
And everybody's happy.
And his kind of snappy one today was about being sat yesterday afternoon.
Yeah.
It's like, brother, that was like the story from the day.
It was like they shot,
they sat the number one player in the world, like while we're losing by three.
And like you're going to get asked about that.
I don't know.
I just like,
don't give you all.
There's,
you know,
there's plenty of,
like leeway that guys get with the media being annoying.
But I think you're right,
Kizzerz.
It's like it's starting to be pretty common at Kurtz.
I think he's pretty fed up with the media,
it seems like.
A little unbecoming of Scott.
I mean,
I'm still proud of him for everything that he's been able to accomplish.
He got a bunch of points.
He got a bunch of points.
I think up until Coving secured that last one,
he was the number one point skater for the team USA this week,
wasn't he?
Did someone say that on the broadcast?
He was 3-1 and 0.
3 1 and 0 from scotty sheffler pretty good played well obviously got set that was surprising
but he ended up rallying around uh that that that you know that nico situation was strange for sure
i found myself all weekend long kind of doing the leonard de caprio meme of pointing to the screen
every time i heard a chicago fan absolutely lose their mind after contact of a golf ball or screaming
get in the bunker or fuck you or screaming things at all these players because like we all
a lot of that we all just like say yeah awesome fan base like but anytime anything's in new york it's
like they got to like relax because this is just a sport and there's like families on the other side
and like it's like this is not this is unbecoming of the sport of golf but when they're in chicago it's
like all it's it's all fun and games um i don't know if you guys had any of the takeaways that i did
i know i'm very near and dear to new york sport fans but like it was as clear as day they were doing
the same exact stuff because there's idiots at every single big event
that there was there was drunks there's people screaming crazy stuff they're
international they said it in a couple of interviews after uh the international would be like yeah
they're they're giving it to us they're really giving it to us we're just playing our game
and then of course the nico situation scottis to step in say there's no place in that
uh there's no place in the game for that like there's no like chicago
conversation around like are those is that broke broke culture uh you know
taking over the game at medina so i just thought that was a little frustrating for all my
Shinnock fans.
But yeah, I thought that was weird with the giving of the put from from Scotty, you know,
in such a big scenario like that, you kind of want to see him stepping on throats.
Kiz, have you ever found yourself in certainly not that exact scenario, but, or I guess do you
think Scotty did the right thing, given that putt at that moment in time?
I said to myself, I'm curious what would have happened if they were tied.
Yeah.
Right.
Then we would.
Because then he chips in and it gets a, uh,
It got a little dicey.
It gets a little dicey.
And even on the broadcast, they were like, I bet Scottie is rethinking that, that putt
on the last last hole.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah, it was an interesting situation.
He was trying to do the right thing.
He was obviously fired up.
I mean, he went all the way across, tried to find the guy.
I was like looking in the crowd.
We didn't show a ton of it.
But Nico sure hit a shit shot for somebody yelling in your back swing.
I, I didn't think it was that like a parent.
y'all we replayed it three times and they're just like wait do you hear this in his down swing and it's
like okay yelled whatever he yelled but it wasn't like it was the guy was standing 10 feet from him when
he was on his down swing for him to hit a 155 mile an hour ball speed with a driver he looked like
he took a rigs divot with it when he hit it dude i saw that number and i was like i could hit my driver
with that ball speed yeah exactly i can throw it that far fast no that was a bad swing that was a bad swing
Our guy, you know, Nico was put up against it there in a really tough spot.
I was, I tweeted out to that day one, like, I'm all hyped up watching everybody off that
first tea.
And it's like, you know, it's like maybe the thing people talk about the most when they come
on this show about nervousness.
It's like first tea of a president's cup, first tea of a rider cup, whatever.
And the guy that we just had on the show last week hit the worst opening tea shot of anybody
by far.
He just, like, it's way right.
Like as soon as he hit it to the announcement, like, oh, this one's,
way right.
Like right after hit it.
I was like,
shit,
that's our guy.
But yeah,
no,
I'm with you,
kids.
It didn't seem,
it was horribly timed and like,
everybody kind of responds to that stuff differently.
But it wasn't,
it was like almost faint and like he was back in the crowd and just
mistimed it a little bit.
Not like it was some intentional thing like he had money on it or whatever.
And he was trying to screw him up for him to hit that bad.
Our producers in,
in my ear and our ear were,
we're making it like they couldn't wait to show us the
replay and I they played it I was like was that it was that what we were supposed to react to that
was it um yeah I don't know I did I've had a put to win a match with cam young and quill
hollow uh and it was like 40 feet and I got it in my backstroke that the international was already
done and we both had birdie putts and I got in my backstroke and right when I changed uh direction
a guy you know come on or make it kids or something and I like it was so quiet and then it was so
loud that I like yep this put
it came up five feet short
and it was weird so I understand
that it can't affect you
hitting a driver on a you know
490 yard hole mid
swing is harder to catch up to than
putting in my opinion but
it's a weird deal when everybody's being so
quiet and I'd rather everybody just yell all the time and then we just
right right right that's like
yeah Ian Polter would do that or just because
everybody going the whole time that was you know
Happy Gilmore famously would do that the whole time.
Come on, I can't hear it.
Happy Gilmore.
Scottie Shepler.
I would say overall, the Chicago Midwest fans were great and very supportive
and nothing like those garbage New York fans.
Those hooligans out east.
Also, like, they were dead quiet for the first couple days.
No one's really saying anything about the fans.
And now once the U.S. just comes out and dominates on Sunday,
they're like, this is incredible.
We needed the fan energy.
that's what I've been saying about the Beth Page Rider Cup this whole time.
We didn't have a single thing to cheer about.
They got dogwalk the entire time.
They're like, well, those fans were terrible.
What?
The team sucked.
Right.
We talk a lot about how when your team wins, you get to create the narrative of the team
and how the decisions you made, those were the right decisions.
It goes and extends out to the fan bases as well.
When you win, everything's great.
Literally everything is amazing.
even what the fan support was better because we won.
The decisions were better because we won.
But if you lose,
piece of shit fans.
I'm happy for Chicago.
It's a great sports city.
Medina looked awesome.
The golf course is great.
A lot of big risk reward holes.
It was a great president's cup.
It really was.
I mean,
obviously it's kind of as absurd as it is as absurd as it is to say.
It's our job to come on here and kind of nitpick things and give our takes on things for
about an hour.
It's really hard to really take away too many negatives from this.
I mean, it's a, it's a positive win, USA, you know, back in the winner in the winners column.
And looking forward to Ireland now.
I think everyone's kind of got that, that juices flowing.
We say juice a lot on this podcast, but the juices are flowing now.
We've got some young up-and-coming guys that are probably going to make that team,
guys that just made their stance here at the President's Cup.
I think Coyvin probably locked himself in to be a USA mainstay now.
You'll definitely see him at their manner.
And I can't wait to see it.
I had a good response on, to a text today that you,
you boys will laugh at and somebody one of my boys at home texts me if i would have done what
scotty did in that position i said not sure that one would have come across my desk there we go
yeah no i i think in a similar in that situation i think it it comes out a little bit differently
if kevin kisner's play i don't know that i would ever thought like oh i probably should give him this
whole since i like random ass drunk guy yelled in his down swing because i would i'm so focused on
what I did when I was in matchplay
that the thought of giving away a hole,
but if you're Sky's Shephyr,
you're like,
I'm gonna beat your ass one way or the other.
I'll just let you have this one.
Dude, it's a little like,
like Nico should have,
I mean,
we got to talk to him at some point about it,
but it's like,
the little like,
feel like charity out there a little bit.
It's just like,
yeah,
yeah,
like you're good.
It's like,
it's the president's cup.
You can have that one.
It's all good.
You can have 40 foot up.
Scoop that one.
Scoop that one.
No big deal.
wasn't he off the green wasn't he off the green yeah he was like
just take it head on to the next day i'll try to tell you nico
i'm sure i'm sure you're good i don't want to beat you here let's let's extend this i
want to get closer to the end so when we celebrate it on the card as far
the team room's right by that hole too i mean you could just walk over to the team room
after that i mean nico has to pick up that ball and be like oh my god i can't believe oh my god i can't
believe this is given to me right now. I feel
like so much smaller than Scott Schaeffler.
It's crazy. I feel like such a small boy
right now. Yeah. I would
wonder what Nico would think about that.
Be like, no, I don't accept your
conception. Yeah, you should deny it.
I'm chipping this ball.
Yeah. Can you deny it be like, no, I'm not
No, no, sir. I'll
hit this. This is not good.
Yeah. Yeah, I saw
some people giving Nico some shit about that chip.
I mean, he gave the fans the
shush. At that
point when you're kind of getting walked by Sky Schepler you're you got thrown out as like an
automatic loss by your captain like you know they matched you up with Scotty you know that you
really have no chance like all day long you have those thoughts he's given you puts like at some
point you have to be a man and be like shut the fuck up everyone i'm one of the best players in the
world i just chipped in like yeah he gave me that put and i'm just going to make it even harder for him
now like you never should have let me through that door i like that little shut up moved by him i
thought, you know, given, you got to have a moment.
You're playing the President's Cup.
And he had a moment.
And it's, it's impossible for people on their couch to know the intensity of being
in there.
I thought, there was one really good clip you guys had, kids of like, God, I don't know exactly
which tea it was.
Maybe it was like 12 or 13 tea or something that like your camera was right there before they
hit their tea shots.
So it was almost catching people like arriving and hanging on the tea.
And you could actually hear and sense how much the fans,
they're really close on that team wherever,
were just feeding the international player.
I think it was like Siwu Kim,
who was playing against Coyvin,
and they were just feeding them like every time.
Might have been Tom Kim,
but it was like everything he did.
He pulls his driver out.
They're like,
whoa,
you think you're,
you know,
and it's like,
dude,
just going through that all day for four days straight,
probably six days straight.
If you count the practice rounds,
you're going to be so on edge too,
that like the minute you have one thing to root for
and you go nuts and you tell everybody to shush,
I get it because like if you've seen the environment,
but man,
you're sitting there on TV,
you do think like,
this guy's like two down.
Why is he telling everybody to shut up?
You're like,
no, dude.
Like that moment is,
it's hard to like put yourself there, I guess.
Also in that moment,
you have shut up everybody.
In that exact moment,
they're all excited for a sky shuffle for wind.
On that hole,
they're drunk,
they're excited.
They're cheering.
You chip in.
They're like,
oh,
fuck.
All right.
All right.
we got to go to another hole.
All right.
I walked out to the 15th T to watch one of the matches on Saturday before I went on the air.
And Nico was following that match.
Cam Young was playing.
I guess he was playing with Goddard up because he played with him both days.
And the international team got up to hit first.
And as soon as he touched it, some idiot was like, get in the bunker.
And he just striped it right down the middle.
I think it was Corey Connors.
And as soon as that guy yelled that, Nico was standing there and goes,
It's not in the bunker.
It's right down the middle.
I was like, oh, Nico is firing back in these guys.
Yeah.
Out here getting in the mix.
Good.
Good.
I like that.
Yeah.
No, you know, it's a good point, Frankie of like, if we just came on the show, we did
five minutes and being like, President's Cup was awesome.
No notes.
Great, great President's Cup.
And it's like not really a show.
So when you watch something for four days straight, because there are going on.
We are like nitpicking.
That's kind of the whole point.
of what we do.
I do want to talk about the alternate shot issues.
I'm very curious Kevin Kistler's opinions and thoughts on this.
This has been,
this is such a staple issue now that not only did we lose five nothing
on Friday to a team that we are four to one favorites against,
but it is such a glaring issue that Luke Donald,
starting in Paris, I believe.
Like, it wasn't Paris.
No, it was Rome.
Starting in Rome, like Luke Donald flipped the way that they do on Friday and Saturday.
It went from doing, I believe, four ball first and then foursomes to doing foursums first
because he knows that getting the lead is such an advantage in rider cups,
momentum and all that, that he knows that they kill us in all shot.
I looked up a bunch of the stats.
Team Europe holds a clear advantage in alternate shot history. Historically, Europe has won 84
foursomes matches compared to 73 for the United States, with overall points since 1983,
standing at roughly 86.5 for Europe to 73.5 for the U.S., and it says Europe has won 19
foursome sessions historically while the U.S. has won just 13, and we're pretty much favored
in every single one of these rider comes, by the way, we have lower players. So it is a very real thing
that alt shot we just can't quite handle.
And I bring up the European stats because obviously we win the President's Cup all the
time.
So it's like I don't really care as much about where we're at with that.
Europe's the big one.
That's where everybody's focus on.
That's what's coming up next.
Why do you think it is?
Because that an alternate shot, we just get our dicks kicked in historically.
I think there's, in my opinion, two things that come to mind immediately is we have more
turnover amongst our team from year in and year out.
We have three rookies on this team, but, you know, we just have different guys.
And if you look at the Ryder Cup for Team Europe, the last two times, I think they only,
they had 11 out of 12 of the same guys.
So they're so comfortable with their team and they're used to playing with each other
where you just get thrown in the mix.
Like, if J.T. and Jackson Coevin may not have ever played golf together until they were in Chicago.
And then they get thrown out there to go be partners.
I think it's a hard thing to build rapport with and to feel comfortable with,
especially in alternate shot because the emotions are so much higher in alternate shot.
You're trying to make sure you don't screw up, but you're also trying to succeed.
It's a very difficult mindset to get used to.
I don't think the Team USA practices alternate shot, like true alternate shot.
It's so difficult to make 12 guys go out there on Tuesday of a cup week trying to get ready to play and say,
you're only going to hit when you're supposed to hit.
Don't do anything else.
we're going to practice to play alternate shot.
Nobody can do that.
It's impossible.
You can't get focus.
You can't get, you don't feel like you're getting adequate preparation for your own personal game.
And it goes back to the selfish type mantra of each PGA tour player.
Like, they're out there to be prepared to be best for themselves that it's so difficult to get them to actually play alternate shot and be totally focused on that and not like, hey, I got to learn the course.
I got to hit my own shots.
I got to work on my own game.
And if we could start sending these guys out to just play nine holes,
a true option to shot,
and then come back and like,
all right,
you can go play whatever you want now.
I think more practice in the format will be helpful.
Yeah,
that's a very good point that you feel like you're wasting a practice session.
If you practice the format that we're bad at,
that we never practice.
Well,
if you just go out there and you normally,
we only play nine holes,
maybe 18 holes one day in practice because we're there for four or five days,
if you go out there and only play alternate shot in nine holes,
you may only make nine swings in,
two and a half hours and maybe hit four putts.
And then you come back and it's like, all right, now you got to go play four ball on Thursday.
I need you to go kick Siwu Kim and Tom Kim's ass or Rory McElroy and John Rom's ass.
But you only made four putts and seven swings yesterday on the course.
It's a hard thing to get people to do.
I'd love to know more how Luke and those guys go about preparing.
I know they practice the format more than we do.
And they go on retreats more than we do.
and I think that's why they get the advantage.
They were already at a DARE manner.
I saw a bunch of them in a Dair Manor a couple weeks ago.
First Rider Cup prep.
We can't get our guys to go on a trip together
because everybody's schedule is so busy.
We got to get guys more focused on being a part of the team
and taking, carving some time out,
making it one of the biggest priorities we have.
I hear everything you're saying about alternate shot.
There is a part of my brain that goes,
how much different can it be?
How much harder can it be?
be. And I know that's stupid. I'm not in these locker rooms. I don't play. I'm, I'm a guy who can,
I can't even break 85 and I'm a podcaster. But there is a part of me. The discrepancy is so big that the
Europeans and the international team do it so much better than us that there is a part of me that goes,
that makes no fucking sense. It's not like you have to play left handed for a round. It's like you're
just, you're doing the same thing. It's just every other time now. I know how stupid that sounds to a guy
like Kevin Kinsner, but there is a real part of me that feels that way.
No, I agree with you.
I don't understand how it doesn't even matter if the Americans were worse golfers than the
internationals.
They shouldn't lose 0 and 5 in foursums.
You shouldn't win a match no matter what.
And then the fact that you lose all five of them in the alternate shot, it only helps
the narrative.
And then they're winning all four Saturday afternoon and end up only splitting two and two incredible
ending to those matches.
I really don't know.
I agree with you that it's just golf still.
You go hit the same shots.
I wish there was more answers to the formula.
And I love that they think, like,
Luke Donald's the world's greatest gift
to figuring out all of that stuff.
But I really think it comes down
to they just play better.
I know people hate hearing that,
but they play better.
They practice the format more,
and they have more continuity,
amongst the team in my opinion.
You got guys like Justin Rose, John, Rom, Roy, McElroy,
and we have Scotty Schaepler,
but he's only played what, maybe three rider cups now,
two rider cups?
He's our world number one,
and that's who we saddle our horse up to
and say, go play all five and get everything done.
And it's like, dude, he's still young in this whole pitcher.
Yeah, he's done three rider cups because his coming out party
was before he had won any tour events.
He beat Rom at Whistling Strait.
Yeah, three rider cups.
and now this might be his third president's cup.
He didn't play with us in Charlotte, actually, did he?
And he's only played two presidents' cups.
Oh, did he not?
It might only be a second one.
Isn't that crazy?
No, he was there.
He was there.
He was there.
Sorry.
So, yeah, he's three and three.
He's only done six, which is insane.
I mean, he just turned 30.
He's still very young.
That's what I mean by that is like,
everyone that says our veterans, you know, aren't playing well.
I'm like, well, they're not,
they're not Roy McElroy that's played 100 rider cups already
and won a million tournaments
and they're not John Rahm has played 100 rider
cups and they're not Justin Rose
and Tommy Fleetwood.
I mean, those guys just have so much experience at it.
It is true.
Like, in Scotty Shuffler's 30 years on Earth,
he's had nine days of rider cup play.
Nine days.
Right.
He's, you know,
if somebody was in their 10th, like,
game of their career in the NHL or something,
would you be like this person's like a vet?
You know, they're not a veteran.
They've like barely done this before.
It's just done it a little bit more than Jacob Bridgman or something like that.
So, uh, yeah, look, the alternate shot thing probably gets over talked about like everything
else, but it, you know, for the narrative when we did go 0 and 5, that was like, okay,
there might be a real problem here.
Um, so hopefully we figure that out going forward and going into the next year.
I like, boy, do I really like the throwing in that, that new rookie blood in there with the other guys.
I thought,
kids for the coverage,
I was a highlights guy,
basically on Saturday.
And then today I watched every second of it the entire day.
I know you guys get all kinds of heat online.
The only thing I really picked up on was the,
really taking a lot of liberties with the playing through at times.
But that was early in the day.
And then I thought the rest of the time from the coverage,
I thought it was fucking great.
I thought it was a great mix of drone footage and setting,
setting the stage and then showing a ton of golf.
I think early on there were some people complaining that like there were only a couple
of matches on the course and there weren't a couple T-shot shown.
I sort of agree with that at the beginning.
And then boy, the rest of the day I thought you guys did a great job of showing what felt
like I saw everything.
And to the point where you guys, you know, it was funny to see a lot of the things that
we've talked about in terms of difference in philosophy between other networks and you
guys of when you guys did the split screen, there's like two.
huge puts occurring at the same time.
Instead of taping one and showing it in 30 seconds,
you guys just put them both up there at the same time.
And, you know, Dan Hicks does a great job of like setting that table,
being like on your bottom left.
I have Patrick Cantley on 17 who is putting for a par that if he makes,
he will win the match.
And in my, you know,
I thought that was really cool because as a guy that knows,
like you guys are choosing not to tape delay and try to paint the story
over the course of five minutes,
you're just showing what's happening in real time.
I kind of appreciated that, but I thought the coverage today, again,
was the day that I glued in the most by far.
There's a few things like people just don't love commercials in general,
but I don't think it has anything to do with you.
So I thought the coverage was fucking great.
I enjoyed that lot.
Yeah, I thought it went pretty smoothly too.
It always gets a little wild at the end when you're trying to figure out who's going
to be the winning put.
How is it all going to shake out of the end?
Then you're trying to get interviews and it's just getting thrown all over the place.
I hate the playing throughs and the commercials too, guys.
I hand up.
I don't like them either,
but I have nothing to do with that,
nor even tell me when we're going to one.
I just sit there and listen and wait,
and when they go to playing through,
I don't even know why they do the playing through,
is to be honest.
Now that I'm on this side,
it's like I'd rather just go to commercial
and then just come back and show me that stuff on tape
because I couldn't hear anything that happened,
and I don't know exactly what happened,
and it's hard to pay attention to,
went through them,
but I'm not smart enough or know enough about ad sales,
and how all that works.
We changed it up this week.
We didn't do odds and evens.
I don't know if y'all caught on to that.
We just did a free-for-all.
Everyone did a free-for-all.
So we had like McGinley come in.
We had the walkers just talked when they wanted to talk
when they were live shots.
And Brad and I just talked.
And we didn't really talk over each other much.
So that was the first time.
I thought it was going to be a disaster, to be honest,
Saturday afternoon.
And it worked pretty flawlessly,
as far as not stepping on each other's toes.
I liked that.
I liked that more.
Me too.
One little tidbit I gathered from that.
That was funny is you guys kept talking about,
is it 16 kids?
It's the part three over the water.
Yeah.
And you guys kept talking about how everyone that was from
the hole high left of the hole was missing high the whole day.
And then there was a point where Smiley Kaufman
who had clearly been walking with like the last group
for the second to last group.
He got to that.
He's like, am I being here you guys right at the whole time that everybody from here has been
missing high?
You guys were like, yep.
And then he missed it high.
And it was like,
it was cool seeing like my favorite characters from different parts of your guys
broadcast come together on the audio.
I thought that was like really cool.
Yeah, smile.
Those boys are always paying attention and listening because they like to know what's
about to happen.
And it's amazing because the best players in the world put the golf ball in basically the
same positions on every hole.
So I see the same shots and putts throughout the day.
It's like, well, I bet you a thousand bucks he's going to miss this putt left because there is no human.
Every professional golfer putts the same way.
And they're all, I can't believe it didn't break.
And then what was weird is if you got beyond hole high, the putt broke even more.
But Cam Young made it to win a match.
And Nick Taylor made it from 40 feet to make that birdie putt.
But if you had it 15 feet left of the hole, it was impossible.
Might as well just pick your ball up and leave.
I like the one on when Scottie's, when faxon was like, I'd bet a lot of money.
Scottie makes this.
And I think you were like, you were?
I said no.
No chance.
And he misses it and kids under his breath, like, fax just lost a ton of money.
I don't know if I'm allowed to say that, but it's not real money.
We're not gambling.
But I do, I do giggle that we're out there just touting draft kings the entire time.
And it's like, PG-A tour will send me an email if I talk about who I like on this podcast and the tournament.
So the whole thing's, I'm actually.
oxymoron if that's the right word in this in my opinion i didn't pick up on the the not doing the
odds and evens but i i did pick up on it just felt like people contributing which is i think
what we want where it's just like jump in when you got something don't put it on somebody to
contribute on this hole in this whole just sort of if you got something go and if there's a little
bit of talking over each other at least people got opinions and they want to talk about it so i and
i feel like team events also sort of lead to more there's more conversation around via
as opposed to just being at a tour event and like here's this hole here's the cut line here but like
i think overall what i watched today i really like everybody contributing or least having an
opportunity contribute because it just felt like guys talking about what was happening on the golf
course yeah i liked it too uh i thought yeah dan dan said after our first session on just saturday
afternoon that it was probably our best best together work brad and i and because we never really worked
together before we just you do the odds and I'll do the evens and then we we try to play off each
other but it goes so fast you don't really have time when it's just open mics you can kind of
talk to each other like you're watching golf on couch and that's what I think viewers want us
hear is if I was sitting on your couch talking about the golf you want me to talk about that to you
at your house while you're on your couch and then I thought it would be a little bit odd with the
walkers like Bones and John Wood and Smiley because they're having to remember every time if
it's odd or even hole and who to call back to whenever they're like,
so kids, what have you been seeing here?
And it's like, well, that's an odd hole.
So fax needs to talk.
Now it's just like, hey, guys, what are y'all been seeing?
And the whole town is like, well, one of us will pick it up.
And we'll, you know, have the dialogue between each other.
So it be interesting to see if we, if we continue that way.
I don't know exactly why we switched it up other than I think they've done one guy
do team international one guy to do
US before but with both
Brad and I being Americans they just
said screw it y'all talk
like I know at the Ryder Cup
McGinley did European to European
side and Brad did the
US side so who knows
we may just be switching the whole program up
I thought
it also lent itself to some cool
moments like there was one where Patrick can't
lay missed like a left to right put
badly and you made a little
comment where you go do you see that
weird like outside the in stroke he put on that one and then fax who's also a putting you know you and fax you
you guys big part of your guy's thing is putting everybody knows that then he goes oh yeah i saw that
kids and that just to me was like a moment between the two of you that gave it a lot extra punch
of how bad of a you know you guys like being able to get that moment from the two of you that like
he really reassured like yep i saw that too as a putting guy and i just thought as a viewer that was
like a moment that maybe you guys wouldn't have had before so i
agree. I liked it more. I didn't, I'm not, I wasn't smarter to pick up, pick up like, like Trent said that you guys were doing that.
But I just thought it all flowed and it seemed more like conversational and free flowing in a good way. And that makes sense why now, I guess.
Yeah. And I would say, I mean, I know Terry Gannon didn't get to talk as much, but Dan Hicks was more in his vibe of hosting the entire show. And it, you could really tell that he was more intimately involved or intimately into the coverage.
entire time.
You know, he even gets in the mix calling some shots when he's doing that, which is cool.
Like, that was multiple shots where he would say something.
It was like, well, that's all you need to say.
And it would let it breathe a little bit in between shots.
So I think he found his groove a little bit easier.
Whereas when he's doing odds and evens with me, you know, we could go an entire segment.
We never show an even hole.
And he doesn't say a word, which he's never done in his career in golf.
And it's like, man, you kind of lose your position.
by the wayside of not feeling like you're in the moment of the entire broadcast.
Glad you guys liked it.
Hopefully we will keep it rolling that way.
You kind of like need him a lot more in that kind of broadcast too because like you need
someone to steer your ship as the viewer.
You know,
like you don't, there's a shit ton going on and like you're trying to remember who's who's
playing against who, right?
Like if they cut, if you guys cut to just Tom Kim and like I don't know, you know, like who I don't
remember exactly who he's playing against and where and then you know dan hicks will be like our
here comes the second shot for tom kim whoever his playing partner was uh is up there to about 40 feet
it's probably going to be a two put so he needs to hit this tight to win the whole you know that like
he needs to be able to do that throughout the broadcast yeah sets it up a lot easier uh and he he um
he messed up on or he missed a like a name or something on one of them today and i he he had to apologize
I was like, I'm sorry.
I meant so-and-so.
I'm like, dude, I'm not, you're not doing that the whole time.
You're literally going rapid fire here.
And it's like Tom Kim or Siwu Kim.
They kind of look the same when they pop up there 20 yards away.
And they're all dressed the same.
And it's like, yeah, it's working the same outfit.
Highly difficult to keep up at all times.
And it's going so fast.
You don't always get fed all the info.
So, yeah, I think he was on it this week.
Dan's amazing guy doing, you know, he's going back doing college.
football games every weekend in between this and then jump right in.
Those those hos just shock me at how much they do.
And he worked from 6.30 to the end on Saturday, 6.30 a.m. until the end.
It's incredible sitting in a chair.
Imagine how bad you're back would hurt.
Nope.
I'll be doing this pod for an hour and a half and I'm done.
My body's done.
Insane.
It's insane.
It's insane. Well, it was a great president's cup, man.
It was a great president's cup.
I think it does like really highlight the fact that if it's just more competitive, it's going to be awesome.
Like going into today being like our U.S. is three down.
Like we have to rally and we have to have the best players in the world wearing red, white and blue winning golf matches.
And then we got that in front of the home crowd was so insanely fun to watch.
Seeing like Cam Young fist pumping a little bit.
Seeing like Patrick Canlay can't lay hold that bomb on 16 and give just a,
massive like yell and fistpump shows like what it means and how different it is.
So all that was great.
I thought the international team showed out great.
I know we kind of talked quite a bit about them earlier.
And they have a lot of great characters on their team.
I like the team,
the Kim's team like you just mentioned of like they've really kind of brought it in the
President's Cup and become kind of the lightning rod for for team international.
I felt a little bummed out for Adam Scott.
I know we talked about it with Kangaroos earlier,
but like trying to get his first President's Cup victory.
He goes out and like he was in a huge.
match coming down the stretch and just he just brought in the hell and it was like he's getting
pretty old and it's not going to be able to do it so um you know he's got the most points i think in
the history of the damn event but um but yeah i just thought overall it was a great great president's
cup it was really fun to watch you know the hype level is never as much as the rider cup and
when you get a day like today it almost feels like a huge golf fan bonus to watch it that way so um so i
thought it was awesome i thought it was an awesome event great i mean i'm always getting hyped up for these
team events.
Especially now, it's like you need, you know, golf needs that because the majors are,
they end so early that we need something in September.
They do.
They didn't really, they really round out the year.
Now what the fuck are we going to watch?
Yeah.
Yep.
Yep.
How about Tom Kim getting on a flight to go to Asia games right afterwards?
You guys follow that story?
Yeah.
We brought it up on the air.
Yeah, you guys, you talked about it.
That's wild.
Yeah, so he has to
A $5.30, right?
He's got a gold medal in Asian games.
He has to win.
Yeah.
Olympics, you got to get a medal, I believe.
Olympics, you just need any medal.
Asian games, you need to win the whole thing, right?
I think that's right.
What other names are we talking about playing in the Asian games?
It's like, you know, some big dogs up there he's playing against,
or is it like he should win?
that I'm not sure
I have no idea
yeah
I mean I would assume
that the best Asian players in the world
would have been on the international team
and he's the only one going right
that's what I was thinking I was like
yeah right
right
that's crazy dude we had
we've had a few players
that we sort of like lost
due to the Korean military service requirement
yeah we can name that list if you want
was it like
um
uh was it Rio
Rio issue
I didn't have him on my list, but he might have.
He's Japanese.
What name am I forgetting about there?
I got two.
I got two on my list.
Let's hear him.
Okay.
Sang Moon Bay.
That's a great one.
So you'll know.
Yeah, he was really good.
He was really good.
He went and did his service and never made it back.
It is.
But it's, but, you know, it's, it's got to be, I mean, I would imagine you're not playing any golf.
No.
Right.
Dude, Sang Moon Bay played from 2000.
He did his mandatory service from 2015 to 2017.
I feel like we haven't heard from him since, really.
He go.
Well, PJ Tor won't save you a spot in nothing.
You get no exemption for military service for any of that stuff.
Not.
Metals.
Wow.
and gold medals sometimes.
Sang Moon Bay had two PGA Tour wins.
That's who I must have been thinking of.
Pretty wild stuff.
Yeah.
Crazy.
All right.
Well, what a week.
What a week.
Now we got, you know, in the golf world,
we got a little,
we got some weight in a dude,
so we're going to get some serious golf, you know.
She got some weight in to do.
We got to get your guy on the show this week,
your driver,
because that clip,
crazy the guy who drives everything from place to place with the bin he's ready he's ready he texts me
said thanks for all the love on the show and i said is it good and he said yeah man it's going crazy
so we'll get him on been he'll get him on because that yeah that that that had a big response
as surprises we were to hear that our listeners were just as surprised i got lots of messages about
this is the content that we needed this whole time or this is what we need out of you or whatever
It's like, well, I just randomly follow that one day.
I don't even know what Riggs asked me.
And I was like, oh, yeah.
At the end of the show, it was like the end of the show.
We were like, how the hell does Louis Oostease get his mattress from one place?
Oh, yeah.
You were like, oh, yeah, the guy, he puts it on the trailer.
We're like, what trailer?
Next to you know.
All right.
Congrats to Team USA, Brandsnetiker, got it done.
That's just a W, you know?
It's a pretty binary event.
It's a W or it's an L.
And he got the Ws.
So congratulations, Team USA.
A lot of positives.
Scotty going 3-1-0.
The Young's coming out.
Camp Young and Patrick Cantlay.
It's Andrews still kind of doing their things.
So a lot of positives.
I'm sure we'll have much more to discuss.
Let's see what kind of fallout comes from the next couple days of post-presidents' cup.
And we'll have to get Kiz's driver on.
So thanks to listen for listening, as always.
And we'll be back on Thursday.
Hit it hard.
Hit it hard.
Hit it hard.
Fort!
