Starting point is 00:00:00 Hey, 4Play listeners, you can find us every Tuesday and Thursday on Apple Podcast, Spotify, or YouTube. Prime members can listen ad-free on Amazon Music. Oh, Rick! What's that my brother? I got a buddy who struggles with that shot. A lot. His name's Frankie Burrilli. So the guys actually gave him a nickname of Butternives because he's always nice to the cross the green.
Starting point is 00:00:24 Brod 100. Now you've got to break 90. We appreciate what you guys do for golf. It's been really cool. Thank you. You're making it cool. we bring you know. I was like, hey, Phil, you only fucking 2999. And he grabs a hundred. He's like, yeah, I won 90,000 of these yesterday. He goes, take a hundred and go fuck yourself. What? What are you that different? Um, it's saying a hobby. So what do we call me this? Like day three. 25? 2.76. Yeah, be a little under three, right? Yeah. Day two point. Yeah, probably two point. No, it's a little under two and a half because the, the final group's on even halfway through their third round. Yeah, but if you think about the whole. Yeah. But if you think about the whole. field probably a little over half right yeah yeah i don't really know what day it is i don't know
Starting point is 00:01:06 what round it is this is this is shaping up to be a very strange masters indeed the leaderboard is weird spread out very strangely the weather's weird we're in for a marathon sunday uh are we are we are we live live live bush we're live live we're live wow we're live live uh yeah it's 2.6 master's recap day 2.6 ish it's kind of what it feels like i will say probably get further along than the worst concerns, right? I mean, there was a concern that from 4 p.m. yesterday until 7 a.m. on Sunday morning, there'd be zero golf and they got the leaders almost halfway through. So no matter what, as long as there's decent weather tomorrow, they should be able to finish on Sunday, which is nice.
Starting point is 00:01:46 Fireball whiskey. We love Fireball Whiskey. We're to talk about them throughout this show because they're going to deliver a little bit of fun on this day when you don't have any masters to watch, which is a shame. But here we are. Brooks Kebka, four-shot lead. Tiger Woods look sharp. So, you know, we're rolling right along here on this weather delay. Frankie's got a big Islanders game. But, you know, we got these guys, just to be real for a second. Brooks Kevica's got a four-shot lead on John Rom.
Starting point is 00:02:13 John Rom's got a three-shot lead on Sam Bennett, the amateur. And then Cantlay Fitzpatrick and Victor Hovlin and Colomorcao are all at five. Brooks is eight clear of those guys. We've got a pretty simple situation going on here, right? Very simple situation. I will say there's definitely the potential for a two-shot swing on seven. Brooks has about 15 feet for par, and ROM has like 10 feet for birdie. So they'll definitely be thinking about those putts all night. Yeah, I mean, you called it, Riggs. It's a two-horse race. At this point, it would be very, very surprising,
Starting point is 00:02:40 especially with them not out there today. It's going to be cold tomorrow, but it's not going to be nearly as wet or rainy. So I can't see someone making up, like you said, eight shots from, I don't think Sam Bennett's making up seven shots, and I can't see Patrick Cantlay and that group at five making eight shots. So yeah, we got Brooks v. John. It'll be awesome to see, like, how that happens on seven, and then they go to the par five, eighth, and the two of them are likely going to be playing against each other all day. They're going to get probably, you know, 29 holes.
Starting point is 00:03:08 Match play situation. Well, match play situation. Bit of a match play situation. As far as Tiger Woods goes, it's hard to watch when it's like this. Yeah, I mean, we're chalking this up to the weather, no? I mean, at the end of the day, this guy's just trying to get through the round, the ball, the club's slipping out of his hand. he's hitting balls into water on 16.
Starting point is 00:03:28 He's like never done that his entire life. His whole career has never made a double there. He made a double there today. I mean, today I would say like I've never watched a professional golf tournament, let alone a major where nothing happened all. I mean, today was a nap day. Nothing happened all day. From the time golf started till now, literally nothing of substance happened.
Starting point is 00:03:47 Nothing came across my desk where I was like, that was interesting. Like it was the most boring golf ever, bunch of, The only thing that was super exciting was JT. Bogey Watch on 17 and 18. That got me off my couch a little bit where I'm like, if this guy can somehow come up with a bogey here on 17 and 18, our guy gets in and continues his 23 consecutive made cuts at the Masters. He ties all-time record. You want Tiger Woods to have as many records at the end of his career as possible. And this is just another one of them. He's going to break it next year, which is incredible.
Starting point is 00:04:21 You just know that's going to happen. And so just more motivation for Tiger to keep going. And then J.T. goes out and just misses the cut. I felt bad about that because I was kind of giving him the like the voodoo fingers being like hit it out of bounds. Then he just fucking straight power hooks went into the trees. And you're just like, whoa, he's going to make a six on 18. And yeah, what do you finish? Four over, five over?
Starting point is 00:04:42 Just not good. Yeah, four over. He looked like he was about a cry on bones of shoulder after the round. He looked up with the sky like why. Yeah. No, the other notable thing is Freddie Couples set in the record. And I'm happy that Freddie Couples has the record now for the oldest guy to ever make the cut at the Masters. Because for his iconic as Freddie is, how much of a legend he is, it's mostly because of the person that he is.
Starting point is 00:05:05 It's mostly because of his personality and because of the sweet swing. I mean, he's got one major championship and you'd think a guy with that reputation has done more. But I think it's really cool that has this record. It's a really, really sick record to have. Kirkman, my turn on you now. Just saying. Oh, yeah. He was my best friend before.
Starting point is 00:05:22 That's what I'm saying. Now he might say something negative about just to just get ready for that. I think it's an awesome record for him to have. And I, you know, I think he, I would love for him to be an honorary starter one day. Everybody loves Freddie. The only point of that ceremony is to have people feeling good before the masters and no one makes people happier than Freddie couples. Yeah. We're all rooting for that, I feel like.
Starting point is 00:05:39 Shout to the broadcast. You can watch the fucking leaders play the master's tournament on Saturday. That was a stunning thing. I know we've been doing this. I pulled up a tweet, I think, from 2017, the first year of the four. podcast, bitching about the coverage, not starting until 3 o'clock Eastern time, which is bananas. Here we are.
Starting point is 00:05:56 Their app's great. Everybody's going nuts about the app. It's lovely. You can populate. Shout out to our guys behind the scene. You can populate your own featured crew basically and you could put the guys into a group, but then you're just watching it one shot at a time in this like featured group where you have to star the guys or favorite them or whatever, which was a little bit weird.
Starting point is 00:06:14 So you basically couldn't watch legitimate broadcast footage of the final three guys. an amateur, Brooks Kepka defending Livgolf and John Rahm defending PGA tour at the Masters tournament, teeing off in the final group on Saturday, you just couldn't watch them on a legitimate broadcast. I don't know how the fuck that continues to happen. I can't grasp it. I can't figure it out. I understand tea times are moved up because of the weather.
Starting point is 00:06:37 So fucking put the, I just, I couldn't, I can't get over it. It drives me nuts. It's infuriating. I was literally watching people tweet in real time like Dan Rappaport updates about what was happening on like two and stuff like that. it's fucking nuts how has everyone been watching the masters are you guys been watching on paramount plus in the mornings have you been downloading paramount plus on your tv and watching it there i'm on the master's app i've been doing master's app and i've had like ipad tv computer and i just
Starting point is 00:07:05 kind of do like amen corner but you got to wait for guys to get to amen corner so then i do featured group but then you're kind of relying on who they're actually covering but then they do jump back to like the first tea sometimes if it's notable people teeing off so i've kind to relied on like featured group action and colt and Shane Bacon and that crew but it's just not it's still not ideal but that's what I've been doing yeah in the media center you you have two iPads that are kind of set up and so they have a bunch of different cameras that you can tap into so you can do like four or five I think the four or five six show is available on masters dot com but they have every hole in the nine you can click whole 10 I want to watch whole 10 I want to watch whole 11 every hole so we get to see a
Starting point is 00:07:40 little bit more but yeah I mean I would guess that there's probably like a clause in the CBS contract that says that the final group can't be a featured group because they want, because otherwise they don't want to take people away from the broadcast, but then they could have just cut out a feature group when the broadcasts went on. Yeah, right, there's no fucking broadcast. That's what I'm saying. So it's like they can do whatever they want. They could have,
Starting point is 00:08:00 the fact that they had four feature groups and one of them wasn't the final group when you knew it wasn't going to be on television. For a club that is so smart with so many decisions, it's unfathomable, really. Does it blow your mind when you hear Colt knows talking on a featured group coverage where it doesn't feel like the mask? not in a negative way, but it's almost like takes some time to get used to. I love Colt. Shane Bacon's really good, but something about them like, and this is where golf's supposed to go.
Starting point is 00:08:26 This is what our brand is all about, like making golf go into the next generation. These guys are just talking about like things that we were talking about there, but something about it feels weird. We've always said that the Masters is that one, that one tradition. Like you just want to hear like Vern Lunkwis. You just want to hear Trevor Emelman. You want to hear gymnastics. Something about Shane Bacon and Colt trying to come up with like, witty, funny comments makes it feel less masterful. That's just my honest opinion. When I hear them like joking about the patrons and like, what would you hit on here, Cole? I'm like, I, like, stop talking. I was just like, stop talking. Like, this is crazy. The masters. Like, like, I'm surprised they
Starting point is 00:09:01 haven't been tackled yet. Like, it's crazy. I kind of feel that way about the walk and talk this week. Like, I like the walk and talk during normal PGA tour events, but like, I don't know, talking to Rory while he's playing a Amen Corner. You're right. It kind of demistifies it a little bit. I liked that. I liked it because it was Trevor and Jim. I don't know. Something about their voice sounded very serious. It's just taking some time to get used to. And like I said,
Starting point is 00:09:22 I love those guys. I think they're great. They made me chuckle. They made me laugh. But I've looked around my shoulder being like, is this a loud? Like one time a year, I think we're allowed to kind of just be like bored by the coverage.
Starting point is 00:09:33 Like that's the masters. Yeah, I agree. Like I think they need to spice up the week to week coverage, clearly. We talk about that a lot. Golf's pretty boring. You know,
Starting point is 00:09:41 week in week out, the RBC heritage, they should have fucking drones and they should have people, mic up, mic up the caddies, get the AirPods and whatever. I kind of agree with you. Like the master stands for itself. It's almost like when you go, you know, when Dave Portnoy goes to an Italian restaurant, he just gets the spaghetti because he just wants to see like your fastball. What do you got? And it's like the masters is that way. It's like it's like it just speaks for itself. You don't need to church it up.
Starting point is 00:10:03 You don't need to order anything fancy. You don't need to do it. You know, the walk and talk stuff, I do agree that it's like it, for whatever reason, it did feel masters wise, like they don't need to do it, but it was really cool for them to do it. I couldn't believe the Golf Digest, take, your old colleagues that... What they say? They wrote an article about how basically saying JT's meltdown was just a bad look for the walk-and-talk, and he made a par on the hole that he walked and talked, and then melted down afterwards.
Starting point is 00:10:37 And they were trying to, I think, tie it to like, yep, that's just a really bad optics going forward for the walk-and-talk. And I'm like, do you think he was so... emotionally messed up from having to do this walk and talk that he then just couldn't play golf for the next four or five holes when he finished like he made a fucking par hole where he did the walk and talk and then didn't play well afterwards and i think they've all pretty much made par so far on the three that they've done uh so i thought that was kind of a shocking take if anything i would agree with frankie on that whole thing of like i like it overall i was interested the clip i watched max i watched the whole thing but it did feel like there was more anxiety in it than when they did it at the other tournaments because a little bit of it was like, dude, they're at the Masters tournament. Like Dan Rappaport, none of the journalists can even get inside of the ropes. You're not allowed inside the ropes. You can't even really get like your swing coach credentialed. You can't really do anything yet they're walking and talking during it. It's like kind of leave them alone. Let's just, it's almost like there doesn't even need to
Starting point is 00:11:35 really be a broadcast. Like just put a camera on and let us just watch these people play golf at the masters. I don't even need to hear fucking anybody really talk. It's like I can just witness, give me the birds chirping and all that and I can witness the master's tournament. I thought that was the weird thing about this IBM like AI generated coverage. I thought like at what point are we moving to the point where every single shot needs some sort of commentary? Is that just for like blind people? Is that what that was? I genuinely like who's that for. Who's asking for that? Yeah, I don't think there's a single person who listened to that and it added to their experience.
Starting point is 00:12:08 I mean, that is that especially was like really just typically be for blind people. I mean, I don't understand. I don't know how they could like sit around and be like. Yeah, people with eyeballs are like needing this. Right. Yeah. And someone in the comments, we are live on YouTube. So for anyone listening to the podcast that you might not know what I'm talking about, we had a guy saying fucking funny how you could say that they're zingers and like they like to shoot the shit, but you guys are doing this show and expect us to watch it. Number one, you guys are clicking on this video to watch this as post round recap footage. And that is just like I turn on Paramount Plus. It's a featured footage and that's all I get to watch. So there's a huge difference between
Starting point is 00:12:41 that and this. This is something that you're literally choosing to watch. watch and listen to. And that's no hate against Colt. I do like him. I think he's fucking hilarious. I want to congratulate him for what he's done. The fact that he's there talking about Tiger Woods, the Masters and literally featured group commentary.
Starting point is 00:12:56 But it's just, it's a lot getting used to. Like, I'm finding myself texting my buddies like, whoa, I don't like that comment. Like that one didn't hit. And like,
Starting point is 00:13:03 I just don't think like things that shouldn't be hitting aren't, I don't know. Maybe it's like, maybe I have a little old man off. It's a little too buddy, buddy for you. You want it to be a little bit more buttoned up. I don't know what it's supposed to.
Starting point is 00:13:14 be it's like it's the we put the flag on our walls it's like it holds a higher standard i don't know what it is i don't know what it is i just can't i can't pin the nail on the donkey's ass do you think if we didn't know colt that it would be better maybe maybe colt's a fucking clown and we love him like we go on the dab on classic with the guy maybe we are too close to this i that's a good answer and i don't need alice push putting this up as as a fucking clip and me getting in fucking commentary fucking muddy waters all i'm saying is is that it's just it took me, I had a couple moments this weekend where I'm just like, oh, this is a little weird. Yeah, I agree with you. Like, we know, like, Colt's texting us from the club last night, drinking probably a little fireball whiskey. And then he's out there commenting on what Tiger Woods club he's
Starting point is 00:13:56 hitting on like the 15th hole in Augusta. And you're kind of like, well, I don't know, those, like, it's almost like he could be whispering that to his pal outside the ropes, but I don't know that he should be whispering that in my ear because he's kind of our pal, um, speaking of he's definitely good for the game, though. He's good for the game. Fantastic for the game. I love Cole. I tweeted the last. week that a couple weeks ago that I was stunned that he wasn't part of the main broadcast. You're making a couple points now that I don't necessarily disagree with. I do think on featured coverage, I like it because it's it's a little bit of a side deal, right? It's not as legit. But
Starting point is 00:14:27 if I don't know how I'd feel about him going back and forth with Nance at Augusta because we're probably just too close to it. Like you said, one thing you can't get too close to is Fireball whiskey. We're getting a good amount of the old rip the nip. So you go, you hashtag, Fireball, Rip the Nip. We're giving away. We're partnering with Fireball to give away four Fireball branded gifts this week. So to enter, you simply send us a video of you doing the old Fireball, Rip the Nip Challenge, tag us, or your streaming setup. We like to see that too.
Starting point is 00:14:58 We talked about that at the beginning of the show. What's your setup? What are you watching? How's the Fireball get involved? It's the top shot in America, the nips, these puppies. You just put them in your golf bag, put 10 or so in there. Have yourself a great time. You don't have to worry about chasers or men.
Starting point is 00:15:13 mixtures or ice or cups glasses cans nothing like that bang you rip these puppies you toss it out it's incredibly simple and if you haven't figured out fireball whiskey at this point you're living under a rock you're not really understanding or living life you're not enjoying yourself the best that you can so get a little high energy going get their fireball nips toss those puppies in your bag have yourself a great time like we did tuesday night in augusta georgia that's right and we saw a couple videos coming in already of people ripping the nip uh we got one today of two guys playing their local golf Club absolutely smoking drives off of their fireball cinnamon whiskey nips. So make sure you join that challenge. Put the the nip on the ground after you take a shot. Send us your best drive.
Starting point is 00:15:52 We're going to commentate it on it. We're going to commentate on it. We're going to, and there's a prize, right? There's a prize for this. Oh, yeah. This is a challenge. Giving away four gifts. You need to make yours the best. You got to make you got to make yours the best. All right. Phil Mickelson. Shout out to Phil. Just kind of bringing it this week. Was that quote, that quote's real that I saw where he was like, I feel like, or I know I'm really close. I'm about to go on a tear. Was that? That was a real quote from Phil Nicholson.
Starting point is 00:16:18 That was a real quote. And he's been grinding like crazy at live events. Like he's trying really, really hard. And again, I mean, I said this yesterday, but I think the best thing for Phil public image wise is just play good golf. Like be out there flashing thumbs up to everybody. And people will forget. He's Phil Nicholson.
Starting point is 00:16:35 He's an all-time great. Did make a couple of bogeys. I think he bogeed seven and eight to kind of take some of the shine off. But it's this classic Augusta Magic. The guy's 52 years old. We've seen this so many times with couples and Bernard Longer. It's a course that just you can play it whatever way you want to. This is what Rahm said in this press conference earlier.
Starting point is 00:16:53 If you're short and you want to be conservative off the tee, you can do that. If you want to bomb it, you can do that. It brings all different types of players into it because you can play the course how it suits your eye. I love it. I mean, I think you're right. I think we're seeing it with Freddie. Like you said, what's Freddie 63? And he made the cut.
Starting point is 00:17:09 Phil's out there too. It's got to free him up that you could kind of hit it almost anywhere. It feels like it looks like, you know, it looks like he's swinging a little freer than if you're down in Florida and you got water all over the place. He's kind of just able to let it go out at Augusta and he feels comfortable. It's amazing how much that matters in golf. I was thinking about that with Maddie Fitz, who was playing pretty well. I had him missing the cut, so it cost me money on that front, but good for him, happy for him. We saw it last year, Maddie Fitz who wins the U.S. Amateur at the country club and Brookline and then wins the U.S. Open there.
Starting point is 00:17:36 It wins like his two biggest wins of his career or at the same course saw it with Tiger. for years and years where he would play like six courses it felt like firestone farmers bay hill and he would just win at those courses a million times so you get these guys like phil who's obviously won there three times he's out there plays incredibly well fun to see it's we again it's weird to kind of go back and forth in my own brain about how critical we've been of live we've made fun of phil we've made fun of the live guys yet i get a little bit of excitement now that i see him up there uh it felt like i mean for a little bit this morning when phil was kind of charging uh ron Bennett were kind of coming backwards. It was like, are we going to have like Brooks and Phil
Starting point is 00:18:13 near the top of the leaderboard together at the Masters tournament? And I was just looking over the leaderboard again because I know we talked about two-man race this whole deal. If Brooks just comes backwards, it seems unlikely right now he looks solid. But if he comes backwards four or five shots, all of a sudden you've got Rob Bennett, Cantley, Fitzpatrick, Hovlin, Morikawa, all right there in this thing. So yes, we need him to come back to make it like more than a two horse race. but if he does, there are a bunch of fucking major winners and like studs right behind him.
Starting point is 00:18:45 And it makes what he's doing that much more impressive that he's that far ahead of those guys because they're such good players, you know? Like all, if you go from second place through all the way to 13th, I mean, you got Cameron Young in there, Jason Day's in there, Victor Hovlin's in there.
Starting point is 00:19:00 It's a bunch of heavy hitters who are right there and he is eight shots ahead of them. I just can't see him coming back. It looks so solid. It reminds me so much of 2019, where it's just like, it's not only that he bashes it, and he's driving that power fade is back and he's playing aggressive. His speed with his putting is so good.
Starting point is 00:19:17 He looks so, so comfortable with the putter. And that's, he's making those six to eight footers where you think there's going to be an opening. I would not be surprised at all tomorrow morning if he comes out and makes that 15 footer, and Rob misses the birdie putt. And it's like, up, that two-shot swing you thought you were getting? It's a zero-shot swing. Like, he's a Terminator, you know, it just, I'm really starting to feel like I didn't really believe it after yesterday. But to play those, what is it, six holes and one under par and the, I mean, it looked absolutely miserable outside.
Starting point is 00:19:45 That's the kind of stuff that wins you major championships. I mean, would you guys, I think he's like pretty much even odds, maybe even a little better than that. I think he should be. Yeah, I mean, he did the playbook pretty much exactly how you're literally exactly they're supposed to do up to this point, which is he got the good end of the draw. He got out there with the good weather. He played pretty much flawlessly. And now he's just got to hang on, which I feel like,
Starting point is 00:20:08 if there's anybody that can really do that. It's him. He's got to be so excited right now to have basically been outside of this arena for years, really since like pre-COVID and pandemic and the world changing and injuries and live. And now he's just back. He's got the Masters tournament in his hands.
Starting point is 00:20:22 It's 100% up to him. And he's going up against, you know, one of the big three, the PGA tour is like top dogs. So he's got to be, I mean, I know Frankie hates him and Dave hates him. We have our own reasons to be negative about him. But if there's anybody that's got to be as jacked up
Starting point is 00:20:37 about anything right now, Well, it's got to be Brooks Kepka with this opportunity he's got. We got no more Big Three. Rory has dropped out of the Big Three. You cannot miss the cut at the players and the Masters. And, you know, I don't really, your match play performance, nice. A second place at Bay Hill, that's great. There's been the two biggest tournaments of the year so far.
Starting point is 00:20:57 He's missed the cut in both, and it wasn't really that close. So I think Rory is officially, for me, dropped out of the Big Three conversation. Wow. Yeah. For me, it's anybody but Brooks. And it's like it has nothing to do with live or politics or who you vote for at the ballot. Like I don't know why every time we put out this fucking clip. We're lips.
Starting point is 00:21:16 We're libs. It turns into like it turns into the craziest shit of all time. But it's like I just don't like Brooks. I haven't liked them since he told me to go fuck myself basically at Liberty National like four years ago. So fuck that guy. I really am not a big fan of him. And I've always thought he's too cool for school. Obviously we sucked his dick when he came on our show.
Starting point is 00:21:34 But at that time he didn't tell me to go fuck myself. So I mean, that's just how the that's how the. that's how the boat rose over here on the foreplay in the foreplay land is like if you're mean to us we hate you if you if you're nice to us we love you and he unfortunately did not he didn't uh he never waved the four play flag he was always kind of a fucking piece of shit to us and what he did to us with that match with dave fortnight we were supposed to play him lefty and we fucking grinded me and dave played rounds like crazy out east i was like hustling to get him tailor made clubs and we played like three different practice rounds out in the hampton's by his house and like daze hitting lefty and
Starting point is 00:22:07 trying to work on the range. And then Brooks is just like, we're not playing anymore. We got sponsors. We got the golf course. We had porta potty. We sent out VIP tickets for sportsbook people. It was like crazy. It was a fucking event. Liberty National was like ready to go. It was like the craziest. I mean, come on. And he's just like, sorry, we're not doing it. And then goes and plays fucking Bryce and Deschambeau to feed into that stupid loser fucking like fabricated fight they had where he was walking with fucking cleats behind him and shit. and he was rolling his eyes. He thought he was the coolest guy in the world. Fuck this guy.
Starting point is 00:22:40 And you know what? I just hope John Rom gets this done because he's the better golfer. He deserves this. John Rom deserves this Masters. He has played the best golf. He deserves to win. He really does. And anyone that doesn't say that is just a fucking,
Starting point is 00:22:53 you're a simp for like trying to be a part of something on Twitter. Yeah. I mean, if you're asking me to plant my flag, I'm planting my flag in Spain. I'm with Spain. I'm with John Rob right now. I'm Vamos all day.
Starting point is 00:23:05 I'm going to yell Vamos again. million. Yep. It's right. I'll get my be Beanie out that they gave me team Europe and I'm going to be yelling Vamos all morning tomorrow. So I'm with you. I like that you gave that context. If people understand, we're not just like bitter and hate and like Brooks fucked over Barstful sports and did not handle it particularly well. So much money. Yeah. And he's like you said,
Starting point is 00:23:23 he's been kind of a prick a little too, a little too cool for school type situation. So yeah, I'm, I'm on the John Rom train. Vamos. Let's fucking go. The Spaniard. That's who I'm on tomorrow. I'm excited to watch. We got a shit ton of golf tomorrow. Shit on the golf tomorrow. I will say Brooks did say good question to a member of the Four Play podcast this weekend. So there's a little bit of positive vibes. You kind of needed that a little bit.
Starting point is 00:23:45 I needed that a little bit. JT was not a fan of mine this weekend. So wait, Frankie, I know that he didn't play, but did he also, did he also like, he blew you off when you tried to say hi to him or something? We were like preparing for that match.
Starting point is 00:23:56 And they were at, what was the Barclays? Or was the playoffs at Liberty. And yeah, Northern Trust, I think. Northern Trust. And I was standing on the practice screen. and I'm like, he saw me and I had my phone and Trent had his phone out and I was like leaning over.
Starting point is 00:24:10 I'm like, Portnoy's been practicing Brooks. It was like, it was supposed to be like two weeks before the match and obviously you're supposed to like get into something. And he looked at me. He's like, what? And I was like, oh, you know, like the match is coming up. Like you ready? Have you been like I saw a lot of miss putts there? Are you ready?
Starting point is 00:24:23 He's like, who the fuck are you? And like looked at his buddy and was like, p. And I was like, I literally said out loud. I'm like, you're so cool, Brooks. You're so cool for not caring about this thing we're doing. So like obviously there's personal animosity there and like we hate him. I can tell. That's just he treated me like a piece of fucking garbage.
Starting point is 00:24:43 Like I mean, we're doing this thing. We're selling tickets. It was a whole deal. So yeah, I'm fucking butt hurt about it. And yeah, I deserve to be, I think. Yeah, a little context there. It is what it is. Dan, I think you're being a little too hard on yourself on the question.
Starting point is 00:24:56 Just because like JT didn't like love your question. That might make it a better question that he didn't love it. He's not supposed to love all your questions. That's a good point. Your job as a journalist is not to please your subject. It's to, you know, convey the story. I was like, Morgan Hoffman. Sorry.
Starting point is 00:25:11 You got that comment out of Kisner when you were like, when he was talking about as driving. I thought Kiz was going to snap because, like, I feel like Kiz is scary to talk about when he's not playing well. Dude, I saw he hit two fair ones. He hit two greens in regulation in his second round. Two greens.
Starting point is 00:25:25 You do struggling out there. You have the balls in those situations that we don't possess. Like, I'll just ask a softball. I'll just butter them up, you know, like, you're putting. looks great, like whatever, just try to be nice. And you get in there and you're like, hey,
Starting point is 00:25:38 if only had two fairways, what's going on with the driver? And they're like, fuck you, Dan Rap. You know? No, I think they respect it. I think they respect. I think there's so many people who like treat them like there's some sort of demigods or some sort of incredible. It's like,
Starting point is 00:25:49 they're just a guy who's better at golf than I am. And I think, I think they might like brush back or punch back initially. But I think big picture, they respect it if you have a set of nuts. I agree with that. But in the moment, I don't think they respect it. Yeah, in the moment it's like, what was there a question there he gave you a real are you just telling me that i saw her like
Starting point is 00:26:08 made a comment about how i fucking am not one of the top ten is there is there a question there dan and i don't know that he respected it in that moment it didn't seem like he did it's a fair point that's a fair point so who wins tomorrow who wins tomorrow brooks john rott are we finishing tomorrow is the master's finishing i think it's finishing tomorrow they're going to start at eight o'clock so if they finish the round by 11 you know and they start up again they'll probably have to do threesome's again but i think they'll finish tomorrow it's supposed to be freezing tomorrow morning Like the coldest it's been all week, 42, 43, but at least it's not going to be raining. Holy moly.
Starting point is 00:26:38 Yeah, it's a weird one. Shane Bacon had a good comment. He said, yeah, I can always play if you have one of the bad, one of the three bad weather elements, but never two. So it could be cold and not raining and not windy. It could be windy, but not cold and not raining. But if you get two of the three, if it's cold and windy or cold and raining or it's, it fucking sucks. And we got that today. So hopefully tomorrow, like you're saying, if it's cold, but everything else is not too crazy, hopefully they'll be fine.
Starting point is 00:27:07 Let's hope. It's going to be a fun day. It's going to be nonstop golf. Well, you know, it's going to be 12, 10 hours of golf. I'm interested to see if Tiger comes back. I know. I hope he doesn't. You know, I hope he doesn't.
Starting point is 00:27:20 Get on that fucking plane. Go down to Florida. Be warm. He should just play his final round at like medalist in a golf cart. That's what he should do. Just stream it. Yes. That would be.
Starting point is 00:27:32 Excellent. If he just live streams his round at medalist tomorrow, ratings would be through the roof. CVS would be punching the air. Unbiased, I'd say, as a betting man, I would say, obviously, the odds are in Brooks's favor. Do I want that to happen? No. I'm hoping that Rom can come back. But if you had a gun to my head, I would say that, unfortunately, I think Brooks holds on to this.
Starting point is 00:27:56 I don't know. I just don't see him making too many mistakes. You know what I mean? When I watch him, I don't see many. I don't see many faults coming out of that swing. I don't see him putting himself into, he's in a great spot that he doesn't have to put himself in situations that he has like go for things.
Starting point is 00:28:11 And with the, with the wind and the rain and it's freezing, he can kind of just play like his nice, steady, slow game. He doesn't have to take risks at all. Par fives he's going to eat up all fucking day. He's going to make birdie at worst.
Starting point is 00:28:26 I mean, that's just his game right now. He's a fucking problem. So yeah, I would say, gun to my head, it's Brooks and I'll be vamo seeing my ass off tomorrow for John Rob. It's not a course you want to chase that.
Starting point is 00:28:37 It's not a course you want to chase that. So it feels like if he's not going to win, it's going to be him coming back as opposed to someone going out there and posting 15 or 16 under. I just can't see that happen. I'm just nervous about the guys that have to chase. It's not the best situation to chase in. Correct. You're going to be under the pine straw on like, you know, 13.
Starting point is 00:28:55 You got to hit like the shot of your life and it's going to be fucking downpouring in 48 degrees. It's a little bit different than like when Phil Mickelson did it. You know what you mean? so it is yeah boy i got some positive i got some positive outlook here though uh like dan said at 8 a m 45 and cloudy but by noon 53 partly cloudy by 3 p.m. 58 partly cloudy by 7 p.m which these which when these fuckers should be coming up 18 it says mostly sunny and 60 degrees so we might have a delight a golden hour master's tournament i know that's going to be great and yeah and at the end so
Starting point is 00:29:30 Ram, before the horn was blown, Ram has a 12 footer for Birdie and Kepka has 29 feet for par. Is it 29 feet? Oh, that's what Corey in the chat just said. I don't think it's 29. It didn't look like 29 feet. This is what happens when you read the comments. Brooks is outside of Rahm and Brooks is putting for par
Starting point is 00:29:45 and Rom is putting for birdie for sure. It's right there, right when that coverage starts again, you could have a major, major momentum swing. Will we be able to watch it though? Yeah, we might not be able to watch it. You know what's crazy? If someone wrote this in the comments here on YouTube, somebody made the comment here that they made the decision because they knew that they were probably going to get rained out that Nance and Trevor were going to announce all that morning coverage and then they were just going to play it.
Starting point is 00:30:11 I guess they're playing it right now. Unseen, unheard coverage. Why didn't they just do that live? I don't understand that. And then just like replay it. Literally, like Jim Nance and fucking Trevor Immelman were announcing today and then they just held on to that coverage. So you're telling me that had this not gotten horned out that we would have. have fucking never heard that ever they just did that for practice that's insane to me what are we doing
Starting point is 00:30:35 what are these decisions that they're making just put that put everything that you can possibly put on tv everything let's focus energy on positive let's vamos our asses off all day all night all morning tomorrow we're going to get that golden hour at seven o'clock we're going to have spain trouncing hopefully brooks kebka i have flipped again i've gone overseas i'm in europe i'm planting my flag let's go fucking Spain. Let's get that. It's going to be emotional, savvy, the whole deal. I'm all in on John Rom. Let's fucking go. I'm going to go Barstool Sportsbook. I'm going to fire some action on John Rom, some live bullets. And I'm going to Vamos my dick off all day tomorrow. Yep. Let's have a day. Master Sunday. Only one day left. Let's have a day.
