Starting point is 00:00:00 Hey, 4Play listeners, you can find us every Tuesday and Thursday on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or YouTube. Prime members can listen ad-free on Amazon Music. We are back. It's the 4Play Boys, presented by BarksvilleSports.com. We have just returned from the waste management. Phoenix open. Fresh off an airplane, I'm in all sweats. I'm very comfortable. I might record like this every single week.
Starting point is 00:00:22 Bolt just got off a plane. Sexy voice rigs. If you're wondering how fun, if there was any fun had, you can obviously tell. I had a lot of fun. It's right there. My voice. Trent Daddy, Saturday immediately after the tournament, like a light switch, I just lost my voice. That's not good. I don't know if people know, but you now have a radio show. You talk for a living. I do. I basically, yes, talking. You know, life used to be really nice when you could just go through multiple days at a time without speaking to anyone. You put your head down, you bury your head in your computer, and you just, you get some stuff done.
Starting point is 00:00:56 Maybe you don't even get any stuff done. And you don't get anything done. Nobody even cares you have to talk to anybody. There have been multiple times in this office where I will go, I'll get up, I'll shower, I'll do everything, I'll put on my clothes, I'll walk to the train, I'll get to the office, and it'll be like 11.30 noon the first time I have to speak, and my voice like cracks because it's like it's not expecting that. And it's, that just can't happen for you anymore.
Starting point is 00:01:17 Yeah, it used to be just the Mondays. A lot of pressure going into Mondays. We do the podcast. Yep. I'm definitely going to have to talk today. Today's a talk day. Now it's every day. It's a big part of my life.
Starting point is 00:01:28 So when your voice just disappears, then I woke up yesterday morning, Super Bowl Sunday, and again, it's just, it's worse. I had zero. I had nothing. I hit Panic City. I'm Googling shit. You should have watching YouTube videos, how to get your voice back. I know more about the science behind how you lose your voice. What was the number one?
Starting point is 00:01:48 What was the number one curing most of the things that you looked up? It is literally to gargle saltwater. That's how I've heard that. Hot salt water. Hot salt water. So I've been like asking for salt everywhere I go, pouring it into hot water and then gargling it. I've also heard that eating honey somehow it coats the throat and it makes it easier to speak. I don't know if you've tried that yet.
Starting point is 00:02:11 No, I've just been doing the salt situation. I've been drinking an insane amount of water, insane amount of water. And trying not to speak? And trying not to speak during the Super Bowl yesterday. I knew a couple buddies in town. We were watching the game. I tried to tell them beforehand, look, I can't talk. It's amazing how people just can't comprehend that you can't talk.
Starting point is 00:02:34 So when there's big plays happening, like when Brady gets stripped, are you like, you're like a mime, are you yelling? Do you like forget that you're losing your voice, or do you just stand there like a normal person? I was kind of like a rock just sitting there. Like I didn't have any emotion whatsoever. You know, it was more like chit-chat in between plays. people ask me a question about this.
Starting point is 00:02:57 And I was giving them the old cutthroat sign, like, I can't talk, I cannot talk. And then they would nod. Like, yeah, yeah. And then they would ask like seven follow-up questions a row. And then they look at you like, you're an asshole. And I'm like, look, I can't fucking, I can't talk. So I got to talk to two Jewish guys in the morning.
Starting point is 00:03:11 I can't do this. Correct. I also got to a point where I had my notes open on my phone and I was just responding with notes. That's too much. I would have been like, I'm leaving. I'm just going to leave and I'm going to not do this. I'm just going to go back to the hotel.
Starting point is 00:03:23 It was a pretty preposterous scene where I was, I was drinking water the whole day and there were a couple drunk people asking me questions and I was just showing them my phone screen with an answer on it. That's too much trouble. It was a battle. It's been an absolute battle last couple days.
Starting point is 00:03:36 This is the best my voice has sounded. It sounds great. It's good. It's grovely. It's not like we can't hear you. It's fine. I appreciate that. Yep.
Starting point is 00:03:43 That's very important to me. We're going to go through the entire waste management, Phoenix Open. We were out there for three or four days. We were out the tournament for a couple days. We had maybe the greatest Saturday anyone's ever had ever. Yeah. We're going to go through all of that. But first, Trent's going to do a little.
Starting point is 00:03:57 Yeah, so speaking of the waste management, we saw, how many bachelor parties do you think we ran into out there? A million. Like, that's bachelor party central. It's the perfect event for it, which means there's a lot of weddings coming up. So do you have a special event or a wedding coming up or you'll be wearing a suit or a tux? Because you can get it from the black tucks.
Starting point is 00:04:14 Everyone wants to look as great as their date at a wedding event or a special event. Trouble is there's no way to spend the amount of money or time to get the way she spent getting her outfit. True. That's what I meant to say. No, because they're all in on that stuff. You want it to happen in like a split second. Right. So you want to look really good.
Starting point is 00:04:30 Well, we've got the answer right here, and it's the black tucks.com with high-quality rental suits and tuxedos delivered right to your doorstep. Here's the scoop. Starting point is 00:04:56 That's a lot cheaper. And I mean, you don't need tuxes that often. No, you don't. You're spending that much money. I don't know. Maybe you just grab a really sweet one for $95 and you're ready to rock. There you go. So the Black Tux has expert customer service that has your back every step of the way.
Starting point is 00:05:09 It's completely done online. I hate things that you have to eat. Can you imagine that there's still things out there you have to call for? No. Or you have to go somewhere. That's crazy to me. Like, remember there was a time when you had to order pizza? You had to call and it was like, ugh.
Starting point is 00:05:22 Now you just push two buttons and it's on its way. terrible and like somebody would like you know you misspeak or they hear you wrong and you like yeah just just hit a button i don't want to talk to anyone that's why i have this what you really don't want to talk to when you have this fit exactly well with so here's the details with the black tucks it's free home try on you can see the fit and feel the quality of your suit months before the event after ordering your suit will ride 14 days before the event uh if anything is less than perfect the black tucks will send you a free replacement right away when your event's over, just drop your rental and the back in the mail.

That's the blacktucks.com slash four for $20 off your purchase. The Black Tucks Premium rental suits and tuxedos delivered. So the Fort Playboys have had a very interesting relationship with the waste management Phoenix Open over the last, I don't know, six months or so, we'll say.
Starting point is 00:06:17 Yeah. It's been a long road. one of the more trying sagas of our barstool careers, I would say. Definitely. And at the core of the whole thing, this is our event. This is our type of event. We've known that. I feel like most of our listeners out there have always looked at the waste management,
Starting point is 00:06:34 Phoenix Open and thought, that's my type of event. Yeah. I need to be there. The event where you just drink all day and get drunk and yell. There's a scene. It's just a scene. There's so many people. It's fun.
Starting point is 00:06:44 A massive party with the best players in the world playing golf around you. So we had it set up. Not that we had it done locked in or anything like that, but we pretty much had it pretty close. Pretty close. We're going to have all the access. We're going to have a couch behind 16 during the pro-am. We're going to be interviewing celebrities.
Starting point is 00:07:06 We're able to go anywhere we want, which is great because you can do man on the street, interact with the fans, which is the biggest part of the tournament, blah, blah, blah. Obviously, things got kind of played out publicly. here. Dave was giving us a hard time. He knows that I like to get into it with him so that I fired back at him, which might have hurt us detrimental. Whatever. Your boy Riggsie likes to argue. He's good at it. He's very good at it. But Dave knows that you like to do it, so he just likes to throw
Starting point is 00:07:32 I like to debate. You do. You're a debate guy, and Dave knows that. And he got you. And then he got you just tossing insults at him. So then I said cancel the flights when I dropped the mic. He was like, fuck you. We were going to send a couple of other people. But I went into his office like a man the next day. Yep. And said, look, we want to go more than anything. Send us. We'll get great stuff. He said, we'll see. Then he was floating. Then he was going to send a couple other guys instead of us. So the people that had our access, they didn't really know what the hell was going on. In that two or three weeks span, when they got no answers from us, our access disappeared.
Starting point is 00:08:06 Then about a week ago, we were told, hey, if you guys can figure out how to do stuff, go ahead and go. So, Trent and I were sitting around the office. Yeah, at that point we have a decision to make because everyone goes to Minnesota and we're told you can go to the waste management if you want to go. At this point, like you said, our access has disappeared. So the office is mostly completely empty and we are sitting here thinking there is a tournament in Phoenix that is perfect for us. We don't have access. We don't have anything. We haven't talked to anybody.
Starting point is 00:08:36 Should we just pick up and go or should we just stay here in New York and just twiddle our thumbs with the rest of the guys here? So we made the decision, look, can we get our blogs done? Can I do the radio show somewhere in Phoenix? Yes. There's nothing going on in the office. We just said, fuck it. We're going to go to Phoenix. We, what was that?
Starting point is 00:08:55 Wednesday morning, you and I were texting early Wednesday morning. We were like, we should just go. I mean, if we, I mean, we pay for it ourselves. We can do whatever we want. We'll try and get as much as we can. If it ends up, we don't get anything. We paid for it ourselves. We get all of our work done that we have to do during the week.
Starting point is 00:09:08 And then it's just like a trip to a golf tournament. That's what we did. We said, fuck it. We want to go. We just have to go to this event. We just want to be at this event. bought her on flights. If we get reimbursed, great.
Starting point is 00:09:17 We figured we knew that going in. We'll see what happens. We'll cross that bridge and we come to it. Yeah. But we just want to go. So we went. We had, when we left, we had zero access to anything. We didn't really know where we were staying.
Starting point is 00:09:29 We didn't know. We didn't have tickets. We didn't have tickets to the event. We didn't know how we're going to get into the event. We didn't know if you could get into the event. We went from being, we would have been escorted in behind closed doors with, you know, them throwing rose petals at our feet to going just like, we don't even have tickets to this thing. And let me tell you, that's probably the best thing that were happened to us. 100%.
Starting point is 00:09:48 Oh, man. Like 100%. Going to this thing, the way that we went to it on Saturday, is the greatest. We're going to get to that. I want to say that any other media outlet, any other podcast out there, they're all coming to you with this tournament from like, well, this is what we thought of it because we were there. We didn't think anything of it. We were it. We were the fucking event.
Starting point is 00:10:11 We were part of the mob. The reason it's an event is. because the fans are going fucking bananas, and we were the fans. We were right in the heart of it. It was amazing. We're going to go through the whole day Saturday. But first,
Starting point is 00:10:24 we got to talk about how we got to that point, which is we flew out there with no access, no nothing. We flew out Thursday night. Flew out Thursday night. We decided, we put a bunch of tweets out. Shout out to the hundreds and hundreds of stories and plaitrons who hit us up immediately. Hey, we'll get you these tickets.
Starting point is 00:10:44 you this, we'll get you this help, we'll get you, you know, into this tent. You can stay at this place. You can stay at that place. We get chicks hitting us up, Trent. Chicks were like, come stay at our place. Woo-wee! So things started to piece themselves together. We get there Thursday night.
Starting point is 00:10:58 We get to the tournament Friday morning. We had a couple of stooys had gotten us some access to the tent, a corporate tent on the 16th. Right. So if you're standing on the 16th T, obviously off to the right is the mom. of people is where the party is. The bleachers. The bleachers and all that. Then off to the left,
Starting point is 00:11:18 there's three levels that are all corporate boxes. And some stooleys were nice enough to give us wristbands to get us into one of the corporate boxes. So we kind of lived like Kings on Friday. We get up there. It's open bar. People are in, you know, they've got their tucked in like button downs and stuff. It's like a corporate tent type situation.
Starting point is 00:11:36 Yeah. Very nice. Very lovely. Oh, yes. Lovely way to experience in golf. But we realized very quickly this is not our stuff. seen. No, it was not. You know what it reminded me of? And this is going to be a very weird reference. But you know the movie Titanic? I do. Where Jacket's
Starting point is 00:11:52 invited. He saves Rose from some sort of, some sort of event. And they invite him to... Yeah, she tries to almost commit suicide. Right. That's what it was. Big event. That's what it was. Then he gets invited to the event where the button up and he doesn't know how to use all the silverware and all that. And he feels very uncomfortable and so is Rose. And then they sneak off to the third deck with all the poor people and they party. And she does the thing where she's standing. And hands on one toe and she's like this is where I need to be. That's how I felt about being in the corporate boxes as opposed to being in the bleachers. It was very nice on the left side and we had everything free drinks, free food, but it just wasn't our spot and we needed to go and
Starting point is 00:12:29 party with the poor people. That is a phenomenal analogy. That is basically exactly what happened. So we're looking. We're standing there like Trent said. We're off to the left if you're looking at the green. On the far side, the adjacent side, we can see people are chanting screaming, they're throwing beers. We're looking at them, like, we're just looking at them, like, how do we get over there? What do we have to do to get over there? And you can't get over there because if you don't go as early, which we're going to get to, the line out of the 16th is two and a half hours long.
Starting point is 00:13:00 There are people, it's like a club. It's basically like a club. If two people leave, two people are allowed to come in. So there are people standing in line for an amount of time that they don't even know, a line that's not moving. They're just hoping to get onto the 16th. party with those people. So we're trying to figure out how do we get in there?
Starting point is 00:13:17 You can't. The only way you get in there, the only realistic way you get into where you need to be on 16 is you just got to want it more than everybody else. You got to get up early as hell. Early as hell. You got to get in line. And then when those gates open at 7, you got to fucking run. You just run to the 16th.
Starting point is 00:13:36 So Trent and I find all of this out on Friday afternoon. Once again, we're eating, we're eating, uh, Nice dinner on the Titanic. We're with Jack and Rose and the whole gang. Cal is the, I believe, is the villain. Kyle's there. He's the, like, real man makes his own luck. He's dropping buck and line.
Starting point is 00:13:54 Like, all right, it's sweet. It's nice up here. Whatever, we got to get out of here. So we enjoy the tournament. It's fine. We go home. We make a plan. We're meeting back here tomorrow morning.
Starting point is 00:14:05 Early as hell. Yeah. Gates open at 7. We had kind of been hurrying. You need to be there by 6 or so. Whatever. What time did you get there? I got there at five.
Starting point is 00:14:14 Yep. Trent got there at 5 a.m. on Saturday morning. And there were already a couple hundred people in front of me. I figured if I got there at five, I would be like my belly would be up against the gates. That is not the case whatsoever. That is not the case. So I got there at 6. Yep.
Starting point is 00:14:28 And there were probably four or 500 people in front of Trent and another 1,000 people between Trent and the back of the line. So I did a little just kind of chat and cut central. Stooley group to Stooley group You're like it was a fucking rung on a ladder Anytime I had a new group All the way through the line You did it right too Because there are people who would try to cut
Starting point is 00:14:51 Just like clearly cutting And they would get roundly booed by every single person I knew that pretty quickly Yeah I thought like man Yeah that's gonna be frowned upon This is a rowdy group And you don't want to be like Hey here's a video of rigs cutting in front of hundreds of people
Starting point is 00:15:04 No not at all And I was like I know these people These are our people This is how they're gonna respond If I do some crazy cut situation So I was doing like I said a lot of kind of massaging the situation, stooleys cutting through. A couple people were upset.
Starting point is 00:15:16 Eventually, get up to Trent Daddy. It's about 6.15. Gates open at 7. 45 minutes we're standing there. It's pitch black dark. People start spontaneously. The whole group starts singing the national anthem. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:15:30 There's beach balls being flown in the air. People are booing. People are singing. People are chanting. People are drinking out of flasks. I may have had some of that. Flask going all over the place. Trent already had committed to this being
Starting point is 00:15:42 his cheat day. True. So we're ready to rock. Now, in line, you know, there's a certain people. There are a bunch of people there that have been there before. They had certain advice. Number one was 16, the run from the opening gates to 16 is way far. Yeah, I had, I legitimately, I had a very serious conversation with the group of people next to me.
Starting point is 00:16:05 And I was like, have you guys been here before? They're like, yes. I was like, what do you got to do to get to the spot on? 16 that you want to get to. They said, first of all, the run is longer than you think it is. So don't sprint right out of the gate, have a nice pace when you start, and then sprint towards the end, which I thought was crazy. We had walked out there on Friday, and you don't realize, you're not thinking about the distance because you're not like, hey, I'm going to sprint this tomorrow morning. But it is further than you think. And they were correct. So it was
Starting point is 00:16:28 nice to, like, chop it up with those people and get some advice on what to do. So the gates open at 7. And Trent and I, now people got to remember that. We're out there. It's just the two of us. We don't have a camera crew. We're going to have a sound crew, nothing. We got our iPhones. iPhone takes great videos. They do. So we are like, all right, turn our phones horizontal, on video mode,
Starting point is 00:16:47 and just record fucking everything that happens, basically, is what we were trying to do. So. I had said when we first started video, it was like rookies who go to the Super Bowl. They literally have a camp quarter out the entire time because they want to capture every moment. That was Riggs and I with our iPhones at the least manager. Or the opening ceremonies for the Olympics. Same thing. We're always walking through filming everything.
Starting point is 00:17:07 Same deal. us at the waste management. Same deal. So we came up with this plan where Trent Daddy was going to film the stampede of people running through. Yeah. And I was going to run through. I was going to sprint to 16 and get us two seats while Trent film a lot of the other
Starting point is 00:17:25 stuff. I filmed my entire run. So the gates open at 7. It's chaos. Complete chaos. I'm talking, you basically didn't even need a fucking ticket. I mean, you could just, you were, you were barreling past. Yeah, they were trying to scan tickets and it just wasn't working.
Starting point is 00:17:40 Oh, not even close. Gates open at 7. Everybody just starts running. So, thanks to this fantastic advice, I instead of, I would have gone full out spread. I probably haven't run in two years. We really didn't plan that correctly because I've literally been working out for a month straight. We talked about that a little bit. I'm in pretty, I'm in decent shape right now.
Starting point is 00:17:59 And a guy, you admitted to me at the moment where like I have not worked or ran in four years. We really kind of switched that up. Yeah, I probably should have gone the other way. Anyways, we didn't. Once we made that decision, it was like a couple minutes before. I got a hyped up. I was ready to go. So, instead of sprinting full speed, I ran at about a 30% clip.
Starting point is 00:18:17 Okay. And it was genius. I mean, about two-thirds of the way there, I started barreling by people. I mean, people were dying. People were dry even. They were fucking train wrecks. And you can tell, man, you can tell. They wanted it so badly.
Starting point is 00:18:31 They had flas and, like, flags and shit hanging off. And they were so ready to be there. And they just couldn't make it. They're like two thirds of the way in and here's me. Somebody sent there was a gift. Somebody said of like Michael Scott or somebody doing like the run walk. Oh, yeah. It's like they're not.
Starting point is 00:18:47 That was me just motor and by people. So I ran out a little bit turned around and was watching people run towards me. And my favorite part was what you don't realize until you go to this thing is that the females there dress up like they're going on like a night out on the town. Every one of them. So they're wearing huge heels. They're wearing rompers. They're wearing things that aren't exactly that close to their body. And then I'm watching guys run and these girls try to run to the spot on 16,
Starting point is 00:19:17 just trying to hold themselves in the whole time. And it was one of the hardest I've ever laughed. One of the hardest times I've ever left. It's great. I've got some video of it. We're going to put it all together and you'll see some of these girls. It is hilarious. So I've got about a three-minute video of Blair Witch Project style of me holding my cell phone up above my head running about 30%.
Starting point is 00:19:37 for three minutes straight, about four minutes total actually, because I cut it up a couple times. But, oh, you know why I cut it up? Because I also wanted to get something on our Foreplay Instagram. Yes. Story, and those go vertical. So I did a switch. Oh, I see.
Starting point is 00:19:54 I ran for three minutes, and I switched it to vertical real quick. Got one and then switched it back to horizontal. I had blogger brain. You're just always trying to make it. That was a big brain move. So I run. I get to 16. It's actually amazing because, like we said, there are like 500 people in front of us in line.
Starting point is 00:20:11 But there's so many. There's like 40,000 seats at 16. So 500 people is nothing. No, it really wasn't. We had awesome, awesome seats. So we get in there. Again, the sun is still not up. The moon is high in the sky for like another hour.
Starting point is 00:20:26 We get to our seats. We're like five rows up in the aisle. We got two seats right where we want to be directly where we had looked at across from the following day or the previous day. I've been like we need to be right there. We were right there. Now, excuse me, I'm trying to fix my voice. We just kind of squeaked there at the end. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:20:44 Now, once you're in 16, you're in. There's no reentry. You don't have to leave for anything. And I was worried about the seat situation. And we didn't know about the saving seats thing again until we were talking to people at the gate right before. Because we were like, they were, they had said, the guys were talking about, oh, yeah, our friends got here even earlier.
Starting point is 00:21:00 They're going to save us a couple spots. And as soon as we knew that, that's when we came up with the plan where you were going to run and I was going to turn around. Because once you're in there, yeah, it's pretty cool. Like, it's not, people aren't fighting for seats. No. It's just like, all right, these are our two seats, and we're going to do this, and we're going to be hanging out here all day.
Starting point is 00:21:14 It's a whole other community inside the tournament. Yeah. At the 16th. Because it's a community of relief. It's relief. We're here. There have been people who, I mean, we planned it at the last minute. There's people who plan bachelor parties for probably the entire year.
Starting point is 00:21:27 And they're like, if we don't get there early and we don't miss this, like, it's going to fuck up the whole trip. So once you get in and everybody's in there, it's like, hey, we made it. 100%. They have a concession in there for beers and everything. They got guys walking around like the peanut guy giving out beers. Yeah. They have a whole restroom section.
Starting point is 00:21:44 Once you're in, you're in. It's essentially you get into the waste management, and it's an entire tournament. And then 16 is its own little tournament. And it's own, yeah, it has concessions. It has bathrooms. It has everything. Now, it's great. People got to realize that we got to 16 at about 7.10.
Starting point is 00:22:01 Right. There was not a single golf shot hit until 1130. So. And you think, what are we going to do for four hours? You're thinking, I had actually, you know, we had thought about this the day before. And I had thought, because, you know, at this point in the trip, I had slept like maybe four or five hours. Because I had to do the radio show Friday morning, which is 7 a.m. local. And then we were there by 6 a.m. Saturday morning.
Starting point is 00:22:25 Right. So I had really slept two nights in a row. So I was thinking, all right, we'll get to our seats by 7.15. I might sleep for two or three hours. Oh. I'm not kidding you. maybe the most spot I've ever had was that four and a half hour stretch
Starting point is 00:22:39 between when we got there and we didn't see a single golf shot. It was just like 40,000 people sitting around in a circle, looking at grass, just drinking and singing and chanting party. You had said it, I'm going to echo it. You said it's the best sporting event you've ever been to and that was
Starting point is 00:22:55 during that four hour period. Because you're just, you're just, there's nothing else to do but drink and chant and sing. We did the national anthem at like 8 o'clock. I don't know why they did that, but it was awesome because we all just got to sing and celebrate America and then drink even more. They're throwing toilet paper. They're throwing burritos.
Starting point is 00:23:12 They're throwing waters. How about they throw? They've got like thousands of burritos and they throw them out like t-shirts. They do. Shout out to the tournament. They got it all figured out. But they throw out breakfast. They were breakfast burritos not only.
Starting point is 00:23:26 Amazing breakfast burritos. They were so good. Yeah. Yeah, they weren't regular burritos. Yeah, that's what I was going to ask. I was like, please tell me they were breakfasts brittes. They were the best kind. So much egg in there.
Starting point is 00:23:34 and then people were throwing waters, which is a little dangerous. The water thing was very, people don't realize. They had these little, like, Desani bottles of, like, the normal size desani bottles of water. People were chucking them, like, trying to hurt people. Well, it's one thing, you know. They were, like, grenades being thrown around. Their heart's in the right place. The people who run the tournament, like, we're going to give these people water.
Starting point is 00:23:54 And then they're like, oh, yeah, we're getting drunk people bottles of water that are going to launch into the crowd. And think about, like, when you go to a hockey game, how, like, a lot of the different people or the chicks in the crowd or whatever are just not paying it. attention, the puck might come flying by. People aren't paying attention to you, 12 people all throwing water up in the stands at the same time. It happened to me. I wasn't paying attention. I was on my phone.
Starting point is 00:24:13 I mean. And a Desani bottle hit my phone and it fell onto the ground and I actually caught the water bottle, no big deal. But it was like, it's madness out there. You've got to keep your head on a swivel. I mean, people, if you throw a water bottle up like 20 feet in the air and it comes down on someone's bright, like that's going to smoke people. So people are freaking out, yelling heads up.
Starting point is 00:24:33 Again, this is all at like 8.15 in the morning. Not a single golf shot until 11.30. Eventually, it gets to the point where, I mean, I still, when I wake up or I come out of the bath or anything, in my brain, I'm still going. Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh. We did that for like four hours straight. If you could think of any sort of chant, like anything, anything catchy, and that's number one on the list, the whole crowd will do it there. Everybody's looking for something to do.
Starting point is 00:25:06 They're drinking their hammer and they just want to chant and sing. And that was the number one. And all just jumping up and down like drinking doing that at the same time. For nothing. For literally nothing was going. Oh, well, that's not true. They had the guy rolling the greens. Eventually that guy came out.
Starting point is 00:25:20 It gets to the point. So you get there like you said 7, 10. And so there's nothing going on. So you're about an hour. You're just chanting. You're singing and you're drinking. And anybody, any single person, no matter what their job is, who walks out onto the green or anywhere near the green gets like a standing ovation.
Starting point is 00:25:35 Oh, big time. It's amazing. Big time standing ovation. Yeah, the guy rolling the greens. Every time he would come near the fringe, the whole crowd would be like, oh, and he would swing back the other way and the whole crowd the whole time. And then finally, the guy comes out to put in the new hole location. The guy that comes out to do it, he has a sizes for the boys, bars to a golf towel.
Starting point is 00:26:00 Yep. in his hands they set that thing down on top of the hole as they're cut in the hole it was just incredible uh and again this is all i mean we're still at this point hours away from seeing a golf shop yep and we had a lot of not only Saturdays for the boys flag or the the towel out there but saturdays for the boys flags all in the crowd bunch of shirts a bunch of bar stool shirts we saw some i love four place shirts there was one girl who's walked around and i love four place shirt and we're like oh a great shirt she just looked at us was like thanks and they cut walking by we were like we made that shirt
Starting point is 00:26:32 in our head we literally made that shirt yeah yeah sarah's and boys ones are different that's like a big company thing yep i love four place shirt we literally we conceived of that shirt it's a pretty specific group of people who would have bought that shirt and she didn't even care yeah so i think like seven hours later in the day uh i think like her boyfriend or somebody told her and she came over was like okay i think a picture it felt a lot better nice i was a little upset it came back around i was a little upset seven hour circle for
Starting point is 00:26:57 that that's my fucking shirt that's what we made that shirt So, I mean, it was incredible. Finally, we get to about 1130. And these couple guys, their first group, so many things happen. I don't even know who was in the first group. I know Kevin now wasn't one of the first groups because they were doing. Oh, nah, nah, nah, nah. Nah, nah, nah, nah.
Starting point is 00:27:19 Hey, hey, hey. You know what I don't like about that one? If they do, hey, hey, hey, goodbye. Why don't they say, hey, hey, Kevin, nah, instead of it. I don't know. It's just something that I was thinking about that. You should have brought that up? while we were there. True. It would have caught on.
Starting point is 00:27:31 Anything catches like fire out there. Everything does catch off. Damn. So the first groups finally come through. I mean, when they come through, the place erupted. And we were talking about it. It's funny because these are the first guys off. So they're like, they stink this week. They barely made the cut. And they get a king's welcome into the 16th.
Starting point is 00:27:48 They barely made the cut. They're the first group off. They're playing off the back T's off the 10th T. They get through to 16. I'm not kidding. This place, it was like with some, it was like some of, scored a game winning goal in game seven of Stanley Cup finals overtime is like the stadium reaction when these guys walked out there.
Starting point is 00:28:07 Well, you took a fantastic video of it, which is like the, oh, that whole chant. Unbelievable. The place felt like it was going to collapse. And these are guys who weren't that good. It started with a let's play golf chat when they came. They literally walked through the tunnel. Let's play golf like 40,000 people. And then that spun seamlessly into the, oh, oh, oh.
Starting point is 00:28:28 and people jumping up and down, shaking, and these guys are hitting their show. And when they were walking up to the green, they literally, they could not stop, like, laughing out loud. Yeah. Because they're like, we're not even, we're like 30 shots off the lead. Nobody on earth cares about our performance. And you guys are losing your mind. We're like, yeah, we've been jumping up and down and singing and chanting for five hours. Yeah, we've been drinking for five hours.
Starting point is 00:28:50 So anything's going to get us even remotely excited. Oh, man. So then, I mean, from that point on, every group that came through. if somebody misses the green by a millimeter. And I'm talking like, guys, you know, they had a, it was only like 125, the pen that day, um, 125 yards, front left pen. So some guys were laying it next to the hole in would, and the crowd would go nuts. And then it backspinned a little zip on it.
Starting point is 00:29:14 And it would roll like an inch off the green. People were throwing beers out of booing them. It was crazy. It honestly didn't even matter if they didn't, if they got it on, if they didn't get it on the green. Because what happens is early on a couple of guys, little pin seek it, and they'll get it close, and people go nuts. Yeah. So then if anybody even gets it on the green, but it's further than to the crowd's liking,
Starting point is 00:29:35 they will boo that person. Yeah, it was funny. Like, the first ball that was struck, as soon as it was struck, the place went crazy town. They were the, we're the happiest people in the world. That ball could have gone anywhere, massive applause. And then, like you said, a couple got really close. And then the rest of the day, I mean, someone could hit a pretty good little wedge to, like, 25 feet.
Starting point is 00:29:54 Like, no. Like, it wouldn't be a vicious boo, but it would be, like, kind of like, a, The fuck was that? Yeah, you're a pussy. You loser. Right. So that was kind of a scene at 16. It was just, it was incredible.
Starting point is 00:30:08 It was, you know, we did say to each other all the time, this is the most fun I've ever had in a sporting event. And it's true. Like, so most of the fun that I have at sporting events is when I go tailgate at, like Iowa Hawkeye games. Yeah. When it's the same thing where you show up super, super, super early. And the best part is the drinking leading up to the game.
Starting point is 00:30:25 Because then once you go to the game, I don't know. I mean, at Kinnick, you can't drink inside, so it's kind of a bummer. Here, there's none of that. It leads all the way up to it, and you can drink throughout the whole thing. So it's like the best sporting event I've ever been to. I completely agree that. I mean, the best part was before we ever saw a single shot of golf. It was just so fun.
Starting point is 00:30:44 It was such, like, innocent fun. People are literally like, we're not even, we're not yelling anything in anybody. It's just literally a hole of grass and sand surrounded by 40,000 people. all like facing the grass and sand, doing nothing but just drinking and cheering and chanting. Well, when we alluded to earlier, how this worked out perfectly better than it ever could have. It's crazy how that works out where we had, again,
Starting point is 00:31:08 had all this access. We were going to interview all these celebrities, do all this great stuff. And then the best thing that ever happened was we were just in the scrum with everybody else. And we took tons of videos of everything, and it was like the most fun we've ever had. So on the plane back, just a few hours ago,
Starting point is 00:31:22 I went through all the videos that I took, and I got chills watching them. and I laughed out while 10 or 15 times. So even though it was a real rag tag operation, we were going to have a video out in the next couple days.
Starting point is 00:31:34 We've got to talk to some editors. We're going to put all that together. I think it's going to be really fucking good. I think it is too. I think people are going to like it. I still got to go back through mine, but I already can't wait to go back and watch these girls running in their high heels and their romper.
Starting point is 00:31:46 I haven't seen any of that. Oh, it's fantastic. I was so focused on the mission trend that I missed all of that. I was just barreling by people. My best part of the video, too, is I guess, like, A, my unbelievably, like, ridiculous, loud breathing as I was, like, dying, running. And I was like, every time I would run by somebody, I would chirp them.
Starting point is 00:32:04 Oh, yeah, you have to. I was like, I'm buzzing by this fucking guy again. So there's a lot of that. The whole thing is just, it's going to be a great video. It's a great compilation from just, we did it the right way. We did it the old school way, which is just getting lined. You got to want it more than everybody else. We did.
Starting point is 00:32:21 We had the coolest day of all time. Uh, then our old pal, actually our new pal, George Sabarikas, golf channel, shout out. He rolled over. He met us. He's the host of Golf Central. Um, does a lot of other stuff for Golf Channel. You know who he is, you know, his voice. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:32:39 He knows picture all that. Uh, he came and met us. He took us over to the golf channel studio. Our old boy, Brandl Shambly was in there. So good to see Brandl, man. Great to see Brandl. That's the first time I, yeah, I, I, obviously never met Brandl. So it was good to finally meet it.
Starting point is 00:32:53 him. He's just... Well, you had never met him out of the office. Oh, yeah. Came into the office. I'm an idiot. Yeah. I completely forgot about that.
Starting point is 00:32:59 But you had never met him outside. I had never met him outside the office in the golf channel setting. And he's the same person. He's an electric person. He's great. So we saw them right before they went on set. We got to go on the set. It's funny because we walked in.
Starting point is 00:33:13 We saw the live from set, more than, you know, Golf Central or whatever you want to call it. And we were like, oh, my God, it's right there. Maybe we could take a picture, like, near it. And they were like, yeah, you can just go on. So we just like draped the Saturdays for the boys flag on the front of their set, took a picture. It was a great picture. It was.
Starting point is 00:33:29 And then Brando and the boys came over, did their show. So we got to hang out to them. Shout to our guys at Golf Channel. That was a great time. And then eventually, you know, we bounced and we left. I want to say, we got to give out some advice. Okay. Which is, number one, if you're going to go, you have to commit to getting there early and doing it, right?
Starting point is 00:33:51 If you don't, you might, you might. I mean, I ran into some people and talked to some people, Stoolies, whoever, that were like, yeah, we got there at like noon. And it sucked. It's funny that you mentioned that because I talked to Stooley at the airport flying back just a couple hours ago. And it's tough because he did the same thing. His group got there late on Saturday. And what he was saying was that you go off for a bachelor party on Friday night and then you have to rally all of your buddies early Saturday morning. So it's like impossible.
Starting point is 00:34:19 So you really have to plan ahead or just have more willpower than everybody else. And you just got to fucking get there. That's the best piece of advice I can give you. You will either have the greatest day of all time or you'll have like, it was a mediocre, you know, event experience. And it is so worth it. Just get there early. Do it.
Starting point is 00:34:37 I believe you get there by six or so. Even Saturday is the biggest day by far. Yeah. And that was the day we were there obviously. So if you're going to go, get there by six or so, you have to do it. It makes it so worth it. It's the most fun you can possibly have.
Starting point is 00:34:51 The second piece of advice I will give. is you have to have patience. Both days, I waited at least an hour to leave just to get an Uber. You just have to have that patience. People were chatting it up in line. People still had a couple drinks in line, waiting for Dubia and Uber and stuff like that. You should have to understand that. I think they had 720,000 people there over the course of the week.
Starting point is 00:35:13 That is insanity. Yeah, I mean, you think about it. At the end of a tournament, if you stay until the end, which is what we did on Saturday, there's 100,000 people streaming out of a place at once. You're never going to get the Uber lines are insane You just got to deal with it You just have to have patience You have to understand that going in
Starting point is 00:35:28 Patience, patience, patience, patience It's very key And you got to commit to doing it the right way If you do those two things This was, I'm not kidding Saturday was the most fun At a sporting event I have ever had
Starting point is 00:35:39 That's not like nobody's paying us to promo That actually nobody gave us access To promo to fucking anything Actually no, it went the other way Actually, we just bought her own tickets And flew all the way to Phoenix And went to the damn event And it was fucking awesome
Starting point is 00:35:50 So that's the way you got to do it I would do the Bachelor Party thing. Like, I know there's people go to Vegas, people go to Nashville, I think Austin. We've all been doing all those places. But if you do the waste management on Saturday and you do it right, you go there early, it's way better than any town that I've been to, no doubt about it. Yeah. Phoenix is amazing.
Starting point is 00:36:11 Went out to some bars a couple different nights. There are beautiful, lovely women everywhere. Everyone there, it's perfect weather. I mean, it was my favorite weather. in the world is obviously quarter zip season weather, which is, you know, like 55 to 65 degrees, which is what it was every night there. Then it gets up into the low 80s during the day. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:36:32 So, I mean, the temperature was just phenomenal. The scene's phenomenal. If we're on, if we're giving out of advice, if you are a, like a kid in high school, if you're a senior right now, go to go to college in Arizona. Yes, that is the greatest advice. Go to Arizona State. Just do that. There was like three or four different times that a couple different groups.
Starting point is 00:36:52 some chicks walked over and were just the most stunning things I've ever seen and we're like, oh, what's you guys do? Like, oh, we've got to ASU. It's like like, Jesus Christ. Go to Arizona State. Just do whatever you can. How is this possible? Don't go anywhere but Arizona State.
Starting point is 00:37:09 And everybody was so nice. Oh, yeah. It was great. It's super nice for Emily. It's kind of like a, it's kind of like a Midwestern like implant town almost, I feel like. Definitely. I think it definitely is a Midwestern people up there. It's a lot of snowbirds go down there.
Starting point is 00:37:22 Yeah. I mean, that's an older crowd, but there's still a lot of nice people down there. It's just lovely. It's absolutely lovely. You know what else is lovely? It's Sirius XM Power 85, Barster Radio. We have content now all day, 24-7, 365 on Series XM, Barstall Radio, Power 85. Clearly, the number one show is Michael the Murdoch, clearly, featuring a voiceless rigs the host.
Starting point is 00:37:47 I think your voice is getting stronger as we're doing this. I don't, I'm not joking. You know, it's really weird because. I haven't talked for a couple days, so I don't know what it's like. You know what I mean? I haven't really tested it because if you test it, you're losing.
Starting point is 00:38:00 In theory, you're taking steps backwards. So you just don't. So I do feel pretty good about it right now. When I first walked in and met you when it came from the airport, I thought you weren't even able to do this show. But as we've been going, it sounds like it's getting stronger. Hitting a rhythm. Yeah, hit a real rhythm.
Starting point is 00:38:15 Barstor Rios hitting its own rhythm. Boom. Professional. That's professional. Very nice. We got Barstral breakfast in the morning. Julie Stewart Banks, Francis, Willie Cologne, then our crew. Then we go all the way out with Pat McAfee and the Heartland crew for three hours.
Starting point is 00:38:28 Chicks in the office are on at one Eastern every Monday through Friday. And then obviously our flagship crew, Barstall Radio, Dave Portnoy, KFC, Liz Gonzalez, followed by the one and only Big Cat, Rhone, Jared Carabas. You can try 30 days free at www. www.s.s.com slash xs.m dash try free. Yep. I'm sure everyone can just. That was great. Remember that off the top of their head?
Starting point is 00:38:54 It rolled right off your tongue. Yeah. No, that's not a problem at all. Sirius XM, Barster Radio, Power 85. We're on all day every day. Check us out. The tournament ended up having a great Sunday leaderboard. Now, a lot of the big names kind of fell off,
Starting point is 00:39:10 but Gary Woodland, who I tweeted this out yesterday, but it just seems like a really cool guy. Yeah, he does. It just seems like a cool guy. I definitely thought this was Ricky's year, and it was looking that way, And then it just, oh, let's talk about Justin Thomas having some issues on 16. That is like his kryptonite.
Starting point is 00:39:26 Isn't that weird? It is strange to me. Because he's a gutsy game. Some of the shots he hit down the stretch to win the PGA. He's like a gutsy clutch player. He's proven to be that many times. When we were there on Saturday and he doubled again, which he doubled on Thursday, and he was going for his tap in.
Starting point is 00:39:40 He just completely fucked it up. I'm so upset because I missed. I missed that. You did. I mean, I was there, but I didn't see it. Yeah. That was when a couple of these lovely ASU. co-eds, we said, walked up, we're like, turned around the other direction.
Starting point is 00:39:53 We're talking. People start freaking out. Like, oh, my God. It was like, what happened. I mean, you know who owns that hole is John Rom? The place goes crazy for John Rom. Absolutely. And he stuck it close, and it's like a pandemon.
Starting point is 00:40:04 That was the loudest I heard it all weekend. It gets loud on multiple occasions. But the John Rom's sticking it close on Saturday, that was by far the loudest I heard it. Awesome. That was absolutely awesome. So Gary Woodland ended up getting into a playoff. Jez Revy, who's a local guy, went to school out. there and then now he lives out there.
Starting point is 00:40:22 He made, I think it was like a 21-footer on the 70-second hole to force a playoff, which was sneaky, phenomenal. Everyone's gearing up, getting ready for the Super Bowl. This guy makes a 21-footer, which 21-footer, I mean, you don't make 21-footers very often. Cairns a 21-footer as a local guy. He said afterwards that it, I believe he said it was, quote, his personal fifth major. That's how much it means to him.
Starting point is 00:40:44 Got into a playoff, ended up bogeying in the first playoff haul, losing to Gary Woodland. Gary Woodland had a tragic situation last year where his wife, they're having twins. They lost one of the twins. They went through one of the worst years you could possibly have last year. Awesome to see him get a win. And like I said, he just seems like a really cool guy. He's one of those guys who just bombs the ball too.
Starting point is 00:41:04 Yeah. So you feel like, you know, if the rest of his game's ever just on or really sharp, he should win. So it was awesome. It was an awesome tournament. It was awesome to be out there. Highly, highly recommend as long as you do it the right way. Again, take every single piece of advice that we have given you.
Starting point is 00:41:21 Go early, have patience, do a bachelor party, go to Arizona State if you're a kid. Take care of your voice if you can. It almost, it turns out that getting up at like 5 a.m. for two or three days in a row and standing out in the desert and drinking might harm your voice. I mean, I don't want to pull out a small violin here, but I got my lips for a little chapped because it was so dry out there. They were thrown out chapstick too. They were throwing out chapstick. They were throwing out some suntan lotion, too.
Starting point is 00:41:49 I've learned, yeah, they just launched this shit. They do. They do, too, when you go to the bars and stuff like there, they have, like, giant gatorade bottles of water that you can just, like, get water. Because you're, I guess you're just in the fucking desert. You don't really think about it. You don't think about that. Yeah, I mean, I didn't get a sunburn because I lathered up because it's new year, new me.
Starting point is 00:42:06 We lathered up, very responsive. We really did. I even brought the suntan lotion. I was so incredible. Yeah, we did multiple lather-ups in the stands. Yep. We look fine. I got a little burn up here.
Starting point is 00:42:18 I don't know if you guys can see that. That's better. But buddy, that's for you. That's the biggest win of all time. If people remember the Masters, I don't know. Yeah,
Starting point is 00:42:24 the Master's situation. That was true. Those pictures are tough. You look back on those. You got to learn. You got to learn. Life's about learning lessons. If anybody didn't see Trent
Starting point is 00:42:36 and Augusta wore a backward snap back for like in the exact same location on his forehead for seven days straight and had just the whole of the snapback like carved out of the top of his head for the next like It's to the point now where I'm pretty sure it's like If I ever get a tan or burn on my forehead again I think the lines are still going to be there
Starting point is 00:42:58 I feel like I can almost see it now okay all right you you're a lot That's fucked up All right that's all we got this week The gang is at Pebble Beach this weekend Rory's playing this week get excited I don't even know that yeah I've been so When you're out there you're like in a you're like in a hole you're like in a black hole out there well and again the course you even know how the
Starting point is 00:43:16 tournament's going when you're on the course no 16 not even close no idea and i don't want to again i don't small violin but a six hour cross-country flight no thank you no thank you those are tough those are really tough i'm used to like two hour flights yeah that's fair rory's out there apparently it's the pebble beach pro am this tournament's awesome this again we're going to get all kinds of whales we're going to get beach cliff shots at cali it's got to be nice the season rolls along
