Welcome to Founders Story, the podcast where trailblazing entrepreneurs share their extraordinary
journeys. Uncover the passion, grit, and vision that drive the world of business and innovation.
Hi, it's Jay Daredevil, aka Jared Dillinger. Welcome to Creating the Future. I'm with my
co-host Dan Robbins, and of course, by all means, no introduction is needed, Gary V.
Thank you for having us, my brother. It's been a pleasure.
Thrilled to be here.
I want to get this out of the way real quick.
I had a couple moments with you already through our press conferences that we shared.
And I had this moment with you where I was telling you that I'm trying to be like you out in Southeast Asia.
And I started giving you my speech.
And before I asked you the question, my voice was quivering.
I could barely get my sentence out and now here we are again.
And it's just, it's so funny.
I'm sure you get this so many times.
People just like, Oh, Gary, Hey, it's you, bro.
It's just, dude, what the heck we're here right now.
Right?
I'm just going to circles.
No, thank you.
Thank you so much.
So, um, Gary, we're going to kick it off with just one or two questions.
We're happy to, uh, keep it simple. But before I do that, I just wanted to say it off with just one or two questions. Happy to. Keep it simple.
But before I do that, I just wanted to say you had mentioned about garage sales.
Yes.
And interestingly enough, my wife, Kate Hancock, who is also our co-host, she couldn't be here today.
She started the first business 11 years ago that we have actually reselling items from Costco on Amazon.
Retail arbitrage.
And built that into an eight-figure company.
Makes sense.
Has now expanded that to more so.
I love that you brought that up.
But I really wanted to ask you this question
because you get so many questions.
How have you continued,
and this is really inspired by Busta Rhymes,
was so thankful for you to have him here.
And there's so many people that had come up to you
that told us, oh my God, my life was changed.
I just met Gary Vee, my idol. How have you continued to stay relevant for so long among so many different generations
and so many different genres? I think it's a mix of two things right off the top that are mental,
which is ambition and humility, which, you know, can seemingly look different. You know,
like people confuse it. They hear ambition and humility and they think
there's potentially
a contradiction in that.
I actually think
there's incredible strength
in it
and they're required
to sustain.
I think the reason
I've sustained
is I have crazy hunger.
I'm fucking hungry.
Like don't let
like the older
like more like
loving Gary
fool you.
I'll kill you.
Like I'm competitive.
I'm a warrior.
Like I want it like that.
But
the humility which is
okay, yes, I understand that I've
accomplished a good amount by normal
standards, but I don't think that makes me special.
It's really easy for me
to interact with everyone because I really don't
think I'm better than anyone. I really don't.
I think I'm different. I think I got some stuff.
But a lot of that's God-given talent.
A lot of that's luck of the draw.
It's why I put my parents on so much all the time
because shit, a lot more has to do with that,
with them than almost me, right?
Not even almost me, then me.
Thank you for tuning in to Founders Story.
Keep exploring, keep dreaming,
and join us next time
for more inspiring entrepreneurial journeys.
