It's our birthday! Hooray for year two! And considering the monumental occasion, we decided it is time, yet again, for some R&R. This week, we shut off our lamps, hang up our hard hats, and take some time to reflect on the past year, the present moment, and what’s to come.  We also take this occasion to revisit a highlight reel of some of our favorite mashups, clips, and cold opens from the past year. Since our very first episode, our view has been that it is high time that we wise up and realize that there is a complete disconnect between the purported ideals of the United States and the reality of the actions taken by the American government, namely the horrific history of enslavement, exploitation, and the series of successive genocides.  It is now, more than ever, difficult to square the American ideals of truth, justice, and equality with the American actions of slavery, genocide, and forced migration. In this episode, we take it back to the basics and reflect on what this project means to us and what we consider its core values.  As a result, we think this episode is another good one to help new listeners dip their toes in our project.  Because we walk through the foundational pillars, new listeners will leave with a capsule course on what Fourth Reich Archaeology is all about. And what it is all about is friendship. As we say many times in this episode, this project is powered by friendship–the friendship shared between Dick and Don, but equally important is the friendship we've forged with all of you who tune in week after week and, dare we say it, year after year. Here is to a happy birthday and to many returns!

I wanted to congratulate you on passing two years of podcasting. It's a real treat to tune in and hear about, oh, those women that tried to knock me off back in September 1975, but I got to say, boys, I'm feeling a bit of a, well, let's say,

a longing for the spotlight. As you know, I did begin my career in male modeling, but today I sit before you here in my chair, in the fiery bowels of hell. And I'm wondering, when are you going to get back to Jerry World proper? Because, after all, we still haven't gotten to, well, some of my greatest accomplishments or achievements

or even passings by of my will upon this nation and the world. well, let's just count some of the greatest hits that you haven't gotten to yet. There's, of course, Watergate. There's the real Watergate story, of course, involving our old friends in the Central Intelligence Agency. Then, well, there's the coup in Chile that I, well, incessantly insisted

was not the work of the United States of America well what does it mean that I told that old fib do you think that I believed it when I said it I guess we'll have to find out on Jerry World won't we

and what about my Africa policy with old Kissinger or Cambodia for that matter oh gee whiz boys I'll tell you one thing, and that's that I love watching my life pass before my eyes. In fact, that's what I've been punished to here in the fiery, the warm bowels of hell or the infernal resting place, as some call it.

Well, it's time for my tea time with Spyro Ted Agnew on the golf course. You know, we didn't get along too great on earth, but down here, two Nixon vice presidents, well, we've got plenty to chew the fat about. I'll tell you that much. And when I say chew the fat, yes, I do mean the fat of human beings down here, down here in hell. Well, I hope up there in your hell, your terrestrial hell, that old forthright, you're always y'embourg. hammering on about, I hope things go good for you for another two years, because I think it'll take at least that long just to get through Jerry World. And, well, I know you might even want to

know what was my reaction to September 11th. Well, that too. You'll just have to find out and gul rang it if it isn't another two years before you do so. Well, boys, it's been a long. long nightmare of a voicemail. I'm sure that your listeners might find it amusing or entertaining or perhaps boring. Yes, I would like that not to happen, so I suppose that the only way I know how I will sign off and tell you, boys, keep on digging. Colonialism or imperialism, as the slave system of the West is called, is not something that's just confined to England or France or the United States. Every nation, in every region, now has a decision to make. So it's one huge complex or combine.

Either you are with us or you are with the terrorists. And this international power structure is used to serve. press the masses of dark-skinned people all over the world and exploit them of their natural resources. We found no evidence of conspiracy, foreign or domestic, the Warren Commission, the science. I'll never apologize for the United States of America, ever. I don't care what the facts are. In 1945, we began to acquire information which showed that there were two war. His job, he said, was to protect the Western way of life. The primitive simplicity of their minds renders the more easy victims of a big lie than a small.

For example, we're the CIA. Now he has a mile. He knows so long as a die. Freedom can never be secure. It usually takes the national crisis. Freedom can never be secure. A lot of harbour. A lot of killers.

favorite moments from the last two years of this DIY self-produced podcast that two friends decided to start doing a couple years ago now, and it seems to have taken. off. We've got a wonderful program for you in store for you today. We're going to reflect a bit about our project. We're going to take this birthday as an opportunity to talk through what it is all about and do a reset for all of you out there who are just so happened to be catching us today for the first time on our birthday. We're going to do a reset, a level set to let you know what this show is all about. And then I'm going to spend maybe much of the hour, maybe the, let's say, the last, I don't know, hour, hour and 15 minutes, going through our catalog of episodes and

pulling out some of our favorite clips, you know, the cold opens, the mashups, the the segments in this program that we present to you that are a compilation of news clips or excerpts from books or pop culture from movies, TV shows, whatever. And, you know, in this program of ours, we presented to you in layers and shades. As much as this program of ours is a conversational format of two buds having a great time talking about some shit, shooting the shit about topics, doing some research and then discussing it. As much as our project is about that, what we also do is these musical interludes, these clips, these mashups of media, of news reports, of movies. We do original dramatizations, their narrative stories within our show, and we love, I personally

love that about our show. And today I am going to, well, maybe you will indulge me as I take a trip down memory lane and pull from some of our favorite episodes in the past year and pull some of our favorite clips, some clips that I think are particularly significant, particularly apt for this moment. So without further ado, let's get digging. Now, I'd like to start today's episode by taking a moment and bringing it back to our home base in these trying times. You know, today is Thursday, August 6th here in the United States. We're going through the midterm election season. And we have candidates like Abdul El Saeed in Michigan running for the Senate in the United States Senate for the Democrats, who was largely, largely successful, this progressive candidate in Michigan was so successful in these midterms.

And what this shows is that this idea that we were, you know, two years. years ago now we were forming this podcast on this idea of opposing genocide, of finding folks in our leadership who are brave enough to oppose genocide, to stand up and say something about the atrocities going on in the Middle East. Well, it seems like running a progressive movement today in 2026, that sort of thing is taking hold. And we are heartened by this development because it's one of our fundamental tenets in this show is that everyone must oppose the genocide. We don't think it's controversial. We don't think it should be controversial.

In fact, at this point, it is very much a point of morality, right? It's where do you stand on this issue in terms of, you know, what do you value? How do you value human life? There can be no doubt that what is what is, what is, what is. going on at the hands of the United States and Israeli government. You know, the international courts themselves have held that this is a genocide, no doubt about it, and we are so heartened, although it has taken quite some time and we're not there yet, nearly where we need to be on this issue. it is very promising to see that a candidate can run and win on this idea of opposing the genocide, opposing military aid, opposing this form of imperial aggression.

The next thing I want to talk about today is it's another sort of foundational point in our show, a fundamental tenet of our show, and that is the importance of understanding your history and using that history as your analytical framework for engaging with the world and world events today. Because this show of ours, Fourth Reich Archaeology, it came out of the bonkers shit show 2024 presidential elections in the United States where zombie Joe Biden and the Democratic establishment was very much lying. to our faces about what was going on and about the competence and well-being of the presidential candidate for the Democrats. And for many people, I think at the time and for many people, even today, and I think in the future, unfortunately, there will be folks who don't quite understand it, right? The world does not make sense. How could it be that someone who just so barely could keep it together in a conversation just visibly was not put together how could they be

in charge of the country how could they run a campaign for president and why why would anyone have that person running as their candidate why would the establishment choose to back that person and if you were to approach that in a in a in a sort of ignorant, a historical way, it wouldn't make any sense. But if you were to look at it in the historical framework, in this analytical framework of ours, and understand that actually this two-party system, it's actually just two heads of the same snake. It's a one-party system. And it doesn't even really have much to do with the politics or the government. It is the powers that be, what we have called the powers that be the people in charge the owners of capital who are very much using

the political system as little more than their playthings. And that is really what this, you know, where the rubber hits the road on the show. It's really what this show is all about, is that we want to arm people with the tools, the history, the, the lessons that we have put together by looking at the history of the post-war era post-World war two era up until today and using that as a lens to see the world just like in that John Carpenter movie they live right where they put on those glasses and they see these ghouls for what they really are that's one of our main goals here and the way we do that is through history. It's through the ever-timely framework of historical dialectical materialism.

And also largely by relying on the Marxist works of the late great Guy D. Bohr and his work, the society of the spectacle, because, man, as much as we are a fully vindicated podcast, and I think we say it all the time, it's like we say things on this show that it's almost, It's like we're manifesting it a week later something happens where we're like, damn, it's like we called it, right? Look back at our down-by-law series and what we said about asylum law recently in 2026. As much as we are the podcast that is consistently getting fully vindicated out here, Guy de Board, man, that guy was a fully vindicated Marxist theorist.

At this point, it can be no doubt. And what I mean is that the modern capitalist hellscape, what is that what is that if it is not the integrated spectacle every day in this world it's like a reset where we are confronted with all of this horror all of this suffering and it seems like well first of all of our leaders they are either incapable or apathetic of meaningfully addressing any of it and for some reason as if for some reason they're being restrained by some greater force and so what that means is that it's left to us right it's left the people to protest and to stand up but even those protests they are fake right think of like the the no king's protest right these are just things that become

part of the spectacle and things that just get adopted into the system and then spit out as a little more than content or entertainment and the greater ship keeps humming along right the whole thing maintains its stability and keeps moving on to the next day as if nothing happened and here in the united states as well as many other countries who happen to be the beneficiaries of hundreds if not thousands of years of empire well we are sufficiently pacified as people as citizens through these devices that we all have these days, right? These phones or these mobile devices that we use to stream into our eyeballs and into our ear holes, everything that we or anyone could possibly want as pleasure. And it's like as if we have junk food mainlining into our brains on tap 24-7

to keep us fat and dumb and entertained and distracted to keep that ship humming along. And so that is what this show, at least in my very disjointed, very sort of stream of consciousness explanation, and at a very high level, that is what this show was started to sort of address and to talk about. It was over maybe two years ago now that Don called me up and he said, hey, you know those phone calls that we have every now and then where we talk about how fucked up things have gotten and how it seems like no one seems to want or do. do anything about it or seems to even understand or care about what's going on. Well, what if we made that into a long form podcast and put it out every week and slapped on an

incredibly provocative name on it and see what happens? Well, it's safe to say that we saw what happened over the last two years. And what happened was is that week after week, this program has grown substantially. Every week we are getting more and more people tuning in and becoming a part of this family. And now I think I've talked enough about what I view is my like, you know, point of reflection for this last couple of, for these last, I don't know, 10, 15 minutes or so. And I think now what I want to do is play for all of you what Don had to say because he did have some things he wanted to talk about when I talked to him about this episode. And it's funny, you know, Don is out this week. He's out of pocket. And I thought about doing this episode and I thought about putting it together and, you know, largely took on that role on this one. And as I started doing that, I get a phone call from Don. And, you know, we Persians, we have the same.

Del badel rodere. And quite literally what that means is that there's a road between two. hearts. But what it really means, it's like when two friends, when someone is thinking about someone and then that person calls them, I'm sure it's happened to many of my, many of our listeners out there. So you're thinking of someone maybe in the morning and then later that day, that person calls you. And when that person calls you, one of the first things, if you're Persian, you'll say, is del bodil rodere. And that means is that between two hearts, there is a road. And what it really means is that we are all connected, right? You are connected with those around you. You're connected with your loved ones. And there is this invisible tether, this invisible line that connects all of us.

And believe it or not, our thoughts, our feelings, they have gravity. And when you are thinking about someone and if you really truly care about them, you never know. Maybe they are also thinking about you as well. And that is exactly what happened here, because just as I was thinking about hitting Don up to get some of his thoughts on what we would want to do for today's show on our baby podcast's birthday, he hit me up with the following message. So please, if you would indulge me, here it goes. This week, I wanted to spend a little bit of time revisiting our initial decisions, two of our initial decisions that really shaped what we've done with the podcast since launching it. And, you know, I think these are two decisions that are somewhat controversial

and might, you know, risk putting some people off of the podcast if they are uninitiated, of course. But there are two decisions that I think have really paid off. And so I wanted to just view these decisions from the lens of two years. hindsight and talk about kind of how reality has proved the concept of this podcast time and time again. So the two decisions are first, our decision to name the pod, Fourth Reich archaeology, and second, the decision to hitch up our historical wagon to the person and presidency of old Jerry Ford. So as to the title, for one, you know, I think we've said it before, the title of the pod is in large part meant

as a provocation, right? It's supposed to kind of arouse a reaction from people who see Reich and think Nazi, although, of course, you know, I think that there's a much larger portion of the population than is perhaps statistically represented within the very erudite circles of our very erudite listenership who have no idea what even the Third Reich is and you know that's very frequently not their own fault you know these are people who by and large have been failed by or rather have been success stories for an American education system designed to build in ignorance of history for the purpose of, you know, rendering the masses of people so pliable to the bullshit propaganda on offer. So, you know, on the one hand,

the title is meant as a provocation. It's meant as a bit of a conversation starter. And usually, in my experience, you know, if somebody is not a total asshole, that they're open to hearing about what is meant by Fourth Reich to talking about, you know, the continuity that we're tracing, you know, in specific, focused on the second half of the 20th century from Nazi Germany during World War II to the United States after the war, you know, largely through the mass importation and hiring of ex-nazies, quote-unquote X, right? These are people who were in the SS by the thousands hired by the CIA under the guise of the Galen organization.

It was basically grafted onto the CIA as the Eastern Front intelligence unit. So just a straight jump, right, from Hitler to old Uncle Sam. And that's a fact that many people, including, you know, many people with advanced degrees, have absolutely no awareness of whatsoever. And I think that as a sort of pedagogic technique, if I may, you know, be so presumptuous that, after all, this is like a political education program of some sort of. But as a pedagogic technique, the shock is good because it creates this reaction and learning something like that, which is, you know, the kind of anecdote that I typically lead with in conversation about this stuff just because it is so verifiably true, undeniable. You know, there's no conspiracy theory about it. and it is practically unknown thanks to the fact that it's been systematically suppressed as information to the public.

So, you know, I think now with also the Trump administration bearing ever more outward signs of the dissent or assent or whatever you want to call it into, overt fascism. You know, there's a real possibility that they're going to try and cancel elections, or at least they're ginning up enough discussion in the media about whether they'll do that, that it's certainly on the expectation horizon marking one end of a spectrum of expectations. and by setting the edge of that Overton window at, yeah, they're going to just cancel the elections, then every repressive measure that they put in place short of actually canceling elections appears to be more rational, a less bad option.

You know, it's classic Nazi fucking playbook. And this too, this. real surge to the right, you know, the construction of actual concentration camps, alligator alcatraz, like this memeified, horrible aesthetic that goes along with the politics is a real copy of a copy of a copy of the Third Reich and just this grotesque consumerist shallow, you know, the face of big brother is a Mar-a-Lago face today. And we really don't have any trouble talking to people about fascism and the threat of fascism in the U.S.

I mean, there are thousands of soldiers stationed in our cities, and they're arresting people on the streets. Like, it's just something that, you would have thought to be too exaggerated, you know, to see it in a sci-fi movie 20 years ago. And we're talking 20 years ago during the Bush administration when they launched a real war with Iraq and over the opposition of millions of not only Americans, but people all over the world. And now, when Trump launches the war in Iran, there's nary a peep from anyone because, one, I think that makes a difference that it's not a boots on the ground situation,

but two, because the mentality. of the consuming public has kind of adjusted its barometer for what's useful and what areas of government policy they really ought to bother taking a role in. And I think that foreign policy in general is something that people consider themselves powerless to affect and therefore while the vast majority of people I think are opposed to the war in Iran you know there's nothing short of it affecting their pocketbooks that's going to get them to take any action to stop this war and you know it's a rational thing to do if you consider the ineffectiveness of what were massive protests against the Iraq war to affecting what the Bush administration did in its conduct of that, you know, genocidal operation that probably killed at least a million people.

And so that's another one of these overt signs of fascism is the ability to launch war with no popular restraint, whatsoever on your power to do so and to execute it in the most clownishly cartoonishly buffoonish manner imaginable that it just makes you sick to look at it's a joke I mean it's it's insider trading as war policy the fucking lies that they tell week after week just to up the stock market about how things are going So the lies are on such full display that the comparison with fascism is apter than ever. And we think, or I think, I'm not on the line here with Dick, as you'll be aware by this point in the episode. But, yeah, I believe that Donald Trump and his insane administration's total embrace of fascism,

it certainly vindicates the decision to call the show Fourth Reich archaeology because it is undeniable at this point, the resonance. And I think that once again, got to give props to that immortal science of historical, dialectical materialism, because if you use the right tools, you're going to have a much better analytical, point of view and a much better understanding of what the fuck is going on. And very briefly want to address a rejoinder that I frequently hear when discussing the topic of the Fourth Reich and kind of the concept of the pod from people is, and this is especially so for non-Americans, but a lot of Americans as well will use. have some comment like the following like okay yeah everybody gets it the u.s empire is really bad it does

very bad things uh that's what like greed is and it's human nature and there's always been empires and they've always been bad and you know this one it looks like it's falling now and all empires fall and on and on spins the circle of life and i don't mean to um caricature that argument because you know in some respects of course it's true I mean to present it as like a serious point of view that a lot of people seem to have and yeah it's not wrong to say that because of course past empires have been horrific and you know in many ways like engaging in cultural orgiastic violence, the likes of which, you know, we talk about with some of the uglier episodes that we get

into in the show. But I think that that's a bit of a cop-out to ignore or suppress the contradictions in the moment in which we are living. And it also kind of expresses this presentist tendency to project current views of history and historiography that are really a product of the European Enlightenment of the 18th and 19th centuries that we've talked about a lot on this show, especially like the political theology stuff with Marcus,

and, of course, his Skull Boy series on Return of the Repressed gets way deep into how all of that ideological formation around the dawn of global capitalism contributed to and sort of normalized this white supremacist, eugenicist, genocidal way of looking at world affairs. And so, you know, one recurring theme that we've discussed is within the capitalist framework, any reforms, any sort of tweaks around the edges that fail to address the central tension, the central conflict between the classes that is at the root of what appear as societal. problems or social issues, then really all roads lead to Auschwitz of some kind or other. You know, not necessarily as the Nazi Holocaust, of course, but as some mass genocidal event.

Because, of course, while past empires were bad, they did not exist in a world with nine billion people or with nuclear weapons for that matter. And also, they didn't exist at a time when human economic activity is literally making the planet uninhabitable not only for human beings, but for animals and plants and all life on earth, or at least a lot of life on earth. and if somebody comes to you and says, oh yeah, but you know, the earth has gone through many extinction cycles over its many billions of years. Yeah, who fucking cares? Who fucking cares? The same goes kind of for the old empires. Like, it's fine. And of course, part of what our project is about is tracing a continuity from especially the capitalist,

era empires, the British, the French, the European great power empires through to the Nazi regime, through to the U.S.-led Western bloc, which now we sometimes refer to as the Amera-Israeli Empire, because of course, you know, we don't want to just say the U.S. is the Fourth Reich when the arm of the U.S. that is Israel. You know, the arm, think about the arm, not as something that can just be detached from the body and that the body will get on without that arm. Think of Israel like the arm from Twin Peaks that detaches and then it becomes a little dancing person who talks backwards.

So Israel and the U.S. are basically jointly embraced in a death clutch ever closer to the abyss and plunging the whole world down there with them and, you know, proving that the Nazi playbook of conducting a genocide documenting it and basically going for broke to commit it, well, it's still got some juice left in it, unfortunately, because the Israelis are really going for it, full force. And it seems like it's going to be very difficult to stop that train a rolling without, you know, some kind of. not just a boycott divestment and sanctions against Israel, but also against the U.S. I think that our friends around the world should encourage their governments to break trade

and diplomatic relations with the criminal United States of America, because it really is, you know, the Fourth Reich concept again. it is meant to convey the scale of the danger that is being posed at this moment and with the rise of the total information awareness surveillance state being developed and not only developed but deployed as we speak with flock cameras and ring cameras and fucking body cameras of these troops that are occupying every corner of our cities. You know, the Patriot Act looks absolutely quaint at this point compared to the public-private partnership that has sought to and very well could soon control our every movement,

or at least have under surveillance, have under control of some kind every single thing that we do and I think that it's okay to not want that yet you don't hear many people really talking about it because it's much easier to pretend like it doesn't exist or even worse to hide behind the notion that these technologies help people the flock system helped find little Billy's dog, give me a fucking break, grow up, act like a human being, you know, because some of us actually want there to continue to be human and other beings on this earth, but with the fucking all in on AI and or planetary escape sociopaths in charge of seemingly all-leavers of power, you know, the real powers behind the throne, another Fourth Reich parallel, right? Like Hitler is the

showman. He's the magician on the stage. But he is like Oz, the all great and powerful, just a reflection, just a projection of the many bureaucratic powers behind the scenes. And of course, the ones behind the scenes in our Reich are, if anything, even more craven, more disgusting, more perverted than the high bar setting Nazis of Hitler's Day. So, you know, it does bear consideration, of course, to not view this moment of history in isolation from the rest. That's the opposite of what we're trying to do. But the flattening of history, I think, to all empires are bad. This one's falling, just like all the other ones have fell. Then the Chinese are going to come and then they're going to be worse or they're going to be

better or, you know, project some kind of wishcasting or whatever onto the Chinese because nobody knows what the fuck the Chinese are going to do in their number one. But I think it's incumbent upon us as people alive in 2026 to look at the gun pointed at our collective face and decide if we're going to do anything about it. Okay, that took a lot longer than I thought it would. and I hope it was more or less coherent, but just to not leave you hanging on the second question, I'm not going to really talk about it, but just to say, obviously, the decision to start with Jerry Ford has been vindicated, is being vindicated, and will ever be vindicated because Jerry is our ride or die boy, our initial magnifying glass into the crevasses.

So here goes. All right friends, join me as we start off with one from way back in August of 2025, almost a year ago to the day. This one, this first one, is a cold open from our you don't, No Jack Ruby series, which is, of course, a series within a series within a series. It is part of the Warren Commission Decided miniseries, which itself is part of the Jerry World series, as our long time listeners will know.

So this one is a cold open from You Don't Know Jack Ruby, Part 6 Side A, which is the very last installment of this series. and it's so early on our earlier episodes they don't really have cold opens and it's something that we really started doing towards the end of our first year and you don't know jack ruby was one of the earlier episodes where we started to do cold opens and i picked this one for a few reasons first doing something about jack ruby in light of us being right in the middle of the middle of of Shee Harvey Oswald right now made sense to me. Jack Ruby's name comes up a bunch in our discussions when we're talking about Sarah Jane Moore in particular. And because both of these, let's call them historical figures, both Sarah Jane Moore and Jack Ruby, they sort of have this similar aura

about them. They have the similar vibe. They, in some respects, are very much the same sort of archetype in a way, right? And what I mean by that is that they both suffer from this delusion of grandeur, this idea that they're doing something that is much bigger than what the ordinary person is up to. And they're both sort of kooky people who could and did easily rub those around them the wrong way, right? Their personalities that took up a lot of space. And both of these figures, they're always hinting at some greater picture, some greater design that they're, were a part of and that they were in on, but they couldn't talk about. So I thought it would be apt to start this recap episode, if you want to call it that,

with a cold open from this one. I also picked this one because it's a good example of how we blend in the show, some of our favorite books, music, movies, TV, anything from pop culture. we like to weave into our story and into our program. And you'll see what I mean in a second. But I picked the passage that, you know, I read from in this cold open because it's so perfectly captures the mania, the psychosis and the gravity of what Jack Ruby did and what he sort of stands for in history, in the greater context of the Kennedy assassination and our Warren Commission Decided Series. So here it is the cold open from You Don't Know Jack Ruby, Part 6, Side A.

The following is a passage from Don DeLillo's 1988 novel, Libra. Jack Leon Ruby dies of cancer in January, 1967, while awaiting retrial for the murder of Oswald. In his time in prison, he attempts suicide by ramming the cell wall with his head and by trying to jam his finger in a light socket while standing in a puddle of water. He tells Chief Justice Earl Warren at the commission hearings that he has been used for a purpose, that he wants to tell the truth and then leave this world. But first, they have to take him to Washington. He will tell the truth to President Johnson. He lives in a cell in an isolated area of the county jail, a small square room with a toilet pole and a mattress on the floor. A guard reads the Bible to him.

Jack believes this man has a listening device in his clothes. They safely store away all his incriminating remarks and then erase all the remarks that prove his crime was unpremeditated. A spasm of personal conscience. When he is feeling totally morose, a nothing person, he re-reads the telegrams he received in the first days after the shooting. Hooray for you, Jack. You are a hero, Mr. Ruby. We love your guts and courage. You kill the snake.

You deserve a medal, not a jail cell. I kiss your feet born in hungry love. Then he remembers the guilty verdict, the death penalty, the reversal on flimsy technicalities. He knows that Dallas wants him dead and gone just like Oswald. He knows that people regard all the shootings of that weekend as flashes of a single incandescent homicide, and this is the crime they are saying Jack has committed. He is worried that he has been miscast. He runs across the room and butts.

his head. He wears white jail coveralls and scribbles notes when his lawyers come to the interview room, where the walls are bugged. He insists on taking a lie detector test because the sincerity and authenticity of the truth are precious qualities to America. It seems as you go further into something, he scribbles on a pad. Even though you know what you did, it operates against you somehow, brainwashes you, that you are weak in what you tell the truth about. Authorities arrange a polygraph exam in July 1964. Results are inconclusive. He begins to hear voices.

He hears one of his brother screaming as people set him on fire outside the county jail. He believes all his brothers and sisters will be killed because of what he did. He believes people are distorting his words even as he speaks them. There is a process that takes place between the saying of a word and when they pretend to hear it correctly but actually change it to mean what they want. He believes the Jews of America are being put in kill machines and slaughtered in enormous numbers. He is miscast or cast as someone else, as Oswald. They are part of the same crime now. They are in it together and forever and together.

The lawyers leave, the doctors come waltzing in. The cancer is spreading. He can smell it on the hands of his examiners. Jack Ruby reads his telegrams. Does anyone understand the full measure of his despair? The long, slow torment of a life in chaos, going back to Fannie Rubinstein toothless on Roosevelt Road, screaming in the night, going back in time to the earliest incomprehension he can remember,

a truant, a ward of the state, living in foster homes, going back to the first blow, the shock of what it means to be nothing, to know you are nothing, to be fed the message of your nothingness every day for all your days, down and down the years. You have lost me, Chief Justice Warren. He begins to merge with Oswald. can't tell the difference between them. All he knows for sure is that there is a missing element here, a word that they have cancelled completely. Jack Ruby has stopped being the man who killed the president's assassin. He is the man who killed the president. This is why Jews are being

stuffed in machines. It is all because of him. It is the power and momentum of mass feelings. Oswald is inside him now. How can he fight the knowledge of what he is? The truth of the world is exhausting. He lowers his head and runs into the concrete wall. All right. So that again was from Part 6 of You Don't Know Jack. And it's the last episode of that mini-series,

what we call the series within a series, within a series. You can find it on the free feed at number, 58, episode 58 on the free feed, it was first released on August 28th, 2025. And man, do I love that passage from Libra, which was written by Don Delilo. I recommend everybody to go out and check out that book and our Jack Ruby series. And really, you can have the Jack Ruby series as sort of a standalone experience. We know, we often say that you should follow our, follow our program from number one from episode one but really the jack ruby series and a couple of these other series that we get into in this episode you could pick them up and just get a good sort of education

about this guy we have our friend and jfk researcher max arvo join us in many of the episodes in the jack ruby series and it's one that i found to be really fun and really informative to be a part of and to listen to as someone who didn't really know much about Jack Ruby. And I think a lot of folks who are into the JFK conspiracies and are into the history of it really don't hear much about Jack Ruby's story. And I think that's by design, right? The powers that you want that to be the case. Because of the clear connections Jack Ruby had with both law enforcement and the mafia. here. All righty. The next one that we're going to play for you is from the series within a series that the Ruby episodes are part of. And that is, of course, the Warren Commission decided probably

our most ambitious project to date. Of course, we are right in the middle of she, Harvey Oswald, at the moment, which is itself a humdinger of a series. But this one is from the last episode in the Warren Commission decided miniseries. Now it's another cold open and this one was really fun because it's one of more ambitious, let's say, radio drama style cold opens where we started to really stretch our voice acting jobs. And in this one, we read from the Warren Commission's executive session held on January 22nd, 1964. And for those of you who haven't listened to the Warren Commission decided and maybe aren't familiar and I invite you to use this as an opportunity to check out that whole series but the short of it is is that the Warren commission would get together in these

executive sessions, these meetings on the record where pretty early on things got sidetracked about news of Lee Harvey Oswald being on the FBI payroll as an informant or you know undercover agent or what but there was this tip that the Warren commission received. Now, the tip was never really verified by the FBI, nor could it have been is what the commission really deliberates in this executive session. But I like this one because when you hear the conversation, because the transcript is available online and folks can go out and read the whole transcript, but when you hear the conversation, as you will in a moment, you can really see how these guys in this one had to come to grips with the fact that there was this

tip that Lee Harvey Oswald was on the FBI payroll and how they would come to terms with the fact that the FBI also at the time was saying that Lee Harvey Oswald is the one who did it for sure and that no one else was involved. And in my view and I hope you'll see it this way too, this whole thing plays out rather comically because you have Lee Rankin, the chief counsel for the commission. He's trying to walk these commissioners through it. And it ends in this hilarious fashion with them talking about what did we really learn here? What can we learn? And then talking about deleting everything. So there's no real paper trail of what's going on. And it's like this, I swear, like this comedy detective show where by all accounts, all of the investigators, all the

cops, the, the gum shoes, they're, the last thing they are trying to do is get to the truth. It's like a mystery novel where all of the people who are investigating the thing, the last thing they want is the actual truth. And it seems like all they really want is to put a lid on this whole chapter. On the evening of Wednesday, January 22nd, 1964, a cold gray night in Washington, D.C., the Warren Commission was called for an emergency session. Congressman Boggs and Ford, Senators Russell and Cooper, were tending to duties in Congress, while John Jay McCloy and Alan Dulles were going about their lives as private citizens. Jay Lee Rankin, newly appointed Chief Counsel

to the Commission just weeks before, called the meeting to share some start-eastern. and top-secret breaking news, that Lee Harvey Oswald had been an undercover agent for the FBI. We'll read from the transcript of that meeting, and first we'll let our cast of characters introduce themselves for the record. I'm Earl Warren, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court and Chair of the Warren Commission. A representative of Hay of Borgs of Louisiana, Commissioner. This is Jay Lee Rankin, Chief Counsel to the Warren Commission. Gerald R. Ford, representative of Michigan's 5th District, Commissioner.

John Sherman Cooper, senator from Kentucky and commissioner. And Alan Welsh Dulles, the former Director of Central Intelligence Commissioner, and all around maven on all things intelligence. Gentlemen, I called this meeting of the commission because of something that developed today that I thought every member of the commission should have knowledge of, something that you shouldn't hear from the public

before you had an opportunity to think about it. I will just have Mr. Rankin tell you the story from the beginning. Mr. Wagner Carr, the Attorney General of Texas, called me at 1110 this morning and said that the word had come out. He wanted to get it to me at first moment that Oswald was acting as an FBI undercover agent, and that they had the information of his badge, which was given as number 179, and that he was being paid 200 a month from September 1962 up through the time of the assassination. Now, I asked what the source of this was, and he said that he understood the information had been made available

so that defense counsel for Ruby had the information. He said that he knew that the press had the information and he didn't know exactly where Wade had gotten that information, but he was a former FBI agent. That they, that is Wade before, had said that he had sufficient information so that he was willing to make the statement. Wade is... The district attorney. Carr is the Attorney General. Right of Texas. Now I brought that to the attention.

of the Chief Justice immediately. And he said that I should try to get in touch with Carr and ask him to bring Wade up here and that he would be willing to meet with him any time today or tonight to find out what was the basis of this story. I tried to get Carr, but he was out campaigning in Texarkana and so forth. So it took us quite a while to get back to him and talk to him. Carr said that he could bring Wade in sometime the first of the week. Now he said that Wade told him that the...

The FBI never keeps any records and names. Wade is the district attorney for Dallas County. That is right. And the other man, Carr, is the attorney general? That is right. And the other people who have knowledge of this story? Now he indicated that the press down there had knowledge of this story and that the information came from some informant who was a press representative.

he, that is Wade, could guess who it was but his assistant knew and he never asked him. They were trying to get more explicit information. Who were you talking with when you got this information? Wade himself? I was talking with Carr. There's a denial of this in one of these FBI records, as you know. Yes. In this fire we had yesterday, one of the lawyers for this fella, he claims to represent

Thorn Hill, I think. Oswald, or one of them, Ruby, told about this. Do you recall it? He said it was being rumored around. Yes, it was being rumored that he was an undercover agent. Now, it is something that would be very difficult to prove out. There are events in connection with this that are curious, and in that way they might make it possible to check some of it out in time.

I assume that the FBI records would never show it. And if it even is true, and of course we don't know, but we thought that you should have the information. Lee, would you tell the gentleman the circumstances in which this story was told? Yes, when it was first brought to my attention this morning. What time was this, Mr. Rankin? 11. 10. Oh, that is, after the Ruby episode of yesterday? That is right.

This is a serious thing. I thought first you should know by it. Secondly, there is this factor too that a consideration that is somewhat an issue in this case, and I suppose you are all aware of it. That is that the FBI is very explicit that Oswald is the assassin or was the assassin, and they are very explicit that there was no conspiracy. And they are also saying in the same place that they are continuing their investigation. What is that?

They haven't run out all the leads on the United States. information and they could probably say that it isn't all business. Yes. But they are concluding that there can't be a conspiracy without those being run out. Now, it is not, from my experience with the FBI. It is not. You are quite right. I have seen a great many reports.

Now, why are they so eager to make both of those conclusions, both in the original report and their experimental report, which is such a departure? Now, that is just circumstantial evidence, and it don't prove anything about this, but it raises questions. Who would know if anybody would, in the bureau, have such an arrangement? I think that there are several. Probably Mr. Belmont would know every undercover agent. Belmont?

Yes. An informer also, would you say? Yes, I would think so. He is the special security of the division. Yes, I know. And he is an able man. But when the Chief Justice and I were just briefly reflecting on this, we said if that was true and it ever came out and could be,

established, then you will have people thinking that there was a conspiracy to accomplish this assassination that nothing the commission did or anybody could dissipate. You are so right. Oh, terrible. Its implications of this are fantastic, don't you think so? Terrific. To have anybody admit to it, even if it was the fact, I am sure that there wouldn't at this point be anything to prove it.

Lee, if this were true, why would it be, particularly in their interest. I could see it would be in their interest to get rid of this man, but why would it be in their interest to say he's clearly the only guilty one? I mean, I don't see that argument that you raise particularly shows an interest. I can immediately. They would like to have us fold up and quit. This closes the case, you see. Don't you see? Yes, I see that. They found the man. There's nothing more to do. The Supports their conclusions and we can go on home and that is the end of it. But that puts the men right on them.

If he was not the killer and they employed him, they are already it, you see. So your argument is correct if they are sure that this is going to close the case. But if it don't close the case, they are worse off than ever by doing this. Yes, I would think so. And of course, we are all even gaining in the wrong. realm of speculation. I don't even like to see this being taken down. Oh yes, I think this record ought to be destroyed. Do you think we need a record of this? I don't, except that we said we'd have records of our meetings, and so we called the reporter in a formal way. If you think what we have

said here should not be upon the record, but we can have it done that way. Of course, it might. I'm just thinking of sending around copies and so forth. The only copies of this record should be kept right here. I would hope that none of these records are circulated to anybody. I would hope so too. Man, that one always makes me laugh. Again, that was the cold open in our Warren Commission Decided series. It's the last episode from that series, episode 14.

And for those of you who have listened to it, go back and listen to it again. Because I, for one, I just listened to the whole shebang, the whole 14 episode series, as well as the Jack Ruby series. And, you know, on the second listen, and I was a part of the whole thing. And I was learning new stuff.

And I was remembering stuff that was like, man, huh, that's pretty freaking interesting. All right, moving along now to our next one, which I am so excited about. It seems like I'm saying that for a lot of these, but man, I am so excited for this next one. So again, in line with that last one we went over. This one is another one of these radio dramas that we put together. And it's special to me because this is original dialogue that Don and I have put together for this episode. And it has more of the soundscaping and Foley that we started doing. doing in these cold opens and really shows our evolution.

Of course, I love this next one because it's got our main man, Jerry Ford, the accidental president. And it's also a, if you've listened to it and haven't put it together, it's a parody of Goodfellas from Goodfellas. It's a nod to that movie. It's also a nod to the mafocratic nature of the Fourth Reich. So here it is without further ado, if you've guessed it already, kudos. But this one is our cold open from the very first episode, the very first installment of our current series, our current focus, she Harvey Oswald.

As far back as I can remember, I wanted to be the president of the year. United States. To me, nothing could be better than being the leader of the free world, a man who everyone looked up to and respected. It was as if I were predestined for it by the great architect of the universe. Growing up, the leaders I knew weren't like anybody else. They did whatever they wanted, and everybody wanted them. My father introduced me to Senator Arthur Vandenberg when I was only a boy.

He was probably the most popular man in Grand Rapids. There was a man who commanded respect. I was the luckiest kid in the world, partly because I made my own luck. I learned that with the right attitude and plenty of hard work and persistence, I could go anywhere. I could do anything. I knew everybody and everybody knew me. I was captain of an undefeated football team,

recruited by the Green Bay Packers. I got into Yale Law School. I graced the cover of Cosmopolitan magazine. I went off to war and came back to the war. a hero. I almost died, too. I got into the Congress on a long shot, and before along, I was tapped to help cover up the murder of my old colleague and friend John Kenney. I got named vice president when the guy in that office got caught taking suitcases full of catch. And wouldn't you know it, before a year had passed, I became president. When the other guy,

I got caught trying to pay off a CIA agent to cover up a break in into his political opponent's office. What a country. But it sure gets lonely at the top, and dangerous too. These damn California women keep taking pot shots trying to kill me. But not only did I survive, I survive knowing I'm. was important enough to want to kill in the first place. And that's the feeling of respect. That's America.

There you have it, folks. Again, that was the cold open from Shee Harvey Oswald, episode one. You can find that one on the free feed as episode number 61. It was released on September 18th, 2025, almost 50 years to the day. that Sarah Jane Moore herself pointed her pistol at the accidental president and pulled the trigger. Okay, I picked the next one because it covers a person and a theory that we are all about on this show. It is, of course, a cold open from our Geopolitic series. This one is from Geopolitic 6.

And in this cold open, we have Don Reed some of Giede Bore's work. Our man, Giedie Dibor, of course, is someone who is front and center in our theory. And in this one, he discusses the integrated spectacle. I pick this one because up until now, we've been covering these cold opens and these segments from our historical series. the stuff that we, I would say, sort of focus on quite a bit on this show. We are a lot of the time covering history, but I pick this one because our Gayle Politics series, it does cover some history, but it really is more of a current affairs project. And in Geopolitic 6, it is an episode which it originally was released in October of 2025.

and it covers the news that was breaking out at the time about, you know, the Trump administration's, quote, peace plan for Gaza, which was basically to bribe the Arab leaders in the region to acquiesce to Israel's genocide. And at the time, there was also this big announcement that the Defense Department was making about how the military needed this glow up. I suggest everybody go out and listen to Gayle Politics 6 because it is as pertinent as it was in October 2, 2025, as it is today to the stuff we talk about. But really the stuff we talk about in that episode is just how goofy everything has become. And we picked Guy de Borde to guide us through this in his theory of the integrated spectacle. And that theory is basically that we have all, everything we do has basically become a part of this spectacle. Somewhere in the modern post-war era, things change.

The media and consumer markets created this reality where everything became part of this mega world marketplace, let's call it, identity, expression, our voice, our desires, our political thoughts, everything, our goals. everything becomes a market choice, a consumer decision. Reality itself has become this projection, this ghost reality. You know, actually Adam Curtis, the documentarian, he has this documentary called Hyper Normalization. He talks about this. It's this idea that like really we're living in this world where it apparently like there's a lot of bad stuff happening. There's a lot of terror. There's a lot of extreme shit we're seeing.

And apparently our world leaders, they can't do anything about it. it. We can't do anything about it. It's sort of, we're stuck on this loop where the past and the future both don't really exist and also are the only things we can think about. You know, we're sort of stuck on this treadmill. Consume, entertain yourself. Use your phones, use your screens. There's all this content. Distract yourself from the very reality that we are in. And it is something that Adam Curtis, as I say, talks about, but really, I think for our money, Guy Debord covered it best. So here goes. Here's the cold open from our Gayo Politics 6 episode. Once it attains the stage of the integrated spectacle, self-proclaimed democratic society seems to be generally accepted

as the realization of a fragile perfection, so that it must no longer be exposed. to attacks being fragile and indeed is no longer open to attack being perfect as no other society before it it is a fragile society because it has great difficulty managing its dangerous technological expansion but it is a perfect society for governing and the proof is that all those who aspire to govern want to govern this one in the same way, changing hardly a thing. For the first time in contemporary Western civilization, no party or fraction of a party even tries to pretend

that they wish to change anything significant. The commodity is beyond criticism, as a general system, and even as the particular forms of junk, which heads of industry choose to put on the market at any given time. Wherever the spectacle has its dominion, the only organized forces are those which want the spectacle. Thus, no one can be the enemy of what exists, nor transgress the omerta, which applies to everything. We have dispensed with that disturbing conception, which was dominant dominant for over 200 years in which a society was open to criticism or

transformation reform or revolution not thanks to any new arguments but quite simply because all argument has become useless from this result we can estimate not universal happiness but the redoubtable strength of tyrannies tentacles never before Or has censorship been so perfect? Never before have those who are still led to believe in a few countries that they remain free citizens been less entitled to make their opinions heard wherever it is a matter of choices affecting their real lives.

Never before has it been possible to lie to them so brazenly. The Spectator is simply supposed to know. nothing and deserve nothing. Those who are always watching to see what happens next will never act. Such must be the spectator's condition. I do recommend that everybody go out and check out our Geopolitic series, especially Geopolitic 6. That is episode number 63, released on October 2nd, 2025. And now I want to switch gears and turn to a episode that we did that we wanted to expand on into a series, but we haven't quite gotten there yet. This next clip is from our series down by law, Part 1, Asylum for Mankind.

And we started this project with this Down by Law project. We started it by asking ourselves, what is it about the legal system and the legal regimes, the many different regimes? And down by law part one, we talk about the regime of asylum, how these legal systems and regimes have been used as nothing more than a tool by those in power to up, press those who do not have any power. And our plan is to expand on this series, but I wanted to ask all of you, did you guys like this series? This was one of my favorite episodes. I think one of my favorite episodes of all time, because it really let Don and I push the boat out, so to speak, on our legal chops. And so I wanted to ask you all, did you like it? It seemed like you did, based on the listenership we have seen it looks like many of you tuned in and many of you liked it

but we haven't heard any desire for more so please if you want to listen to more of this kind of stuff please write us and ask us to refocus on the down by law series but this one i like this one because it is a nod to one of our least favorite presidents of modern time, Barack Hussein Obama, who is just talking utter nonsense about migration and selling this hollow dream of immigration into the United States. And he says some really problematic stuff that actually got a laugh in this talk that he gives. And as we point out in this episode, it was, in fact, the Obama administration that started that illegal metering process at the U.S. border, that the program whereby the United States government would limit the number of people who could come to the border and seek asylum every day.

So here it is the clip from Down by Law Part 1, Asylum for Mankind. And I want you to think about your own parents and your own grandparents and your own great-grandparents. And all the men and women and children who came here. The notion that somehow those who came through Ellis Island had all their papers, right. You know, had checked every box and followed procedures as they were getting on that boat. They were looking for a better life. It's like these families. I want to earn their way into the American story. All right. That was again, that was down by law, part one, asylum for mankind. This one was released on December 5th, 2025. And it is episode number 72 on the free feed.

Let's turn to a series that is very close to my own heart. Those of you longtime listeners will know that as an Iranian-American, the military aggression that's going on in Iran has some significant meaning, personal meaning to me. And this next clip is from our Contra-Iran series. This is the Cold Open from Contra-Iran Part 2, and it's a... historical interview that 60 minutes got with the Ayatollah Ali Khomeini of course was killed by the United States in Israel this year and well I'll just play the clip just three years ago the world was shaken up by a political earthquake that's far from over yet outwet the Shah of Iran in came the Ayatollah Khomeini his mullahs and his fanatical Muslim followers all ready to do some pretty

things in the name of Allah. Wholesale executions, the taking of US hostages, bombings and counter bombings and war with neighbouring Iraq. The headlines portray some kind of dark ages Augie, a place too unsafe for foreign visitors. The fact is that for some months most Western news teams have been banned, but we were able to get in to see for ourselves. Iran marking the third anniversary of its bloody revolution. Mr President, it's three years since the overthrow of the Shah, how have the people of Iran benefited from your Islamic Revolution? One of the writers in our country in answering this question, what benefit did the people gain from ousting the Shah, said that I got my, our benefit was the day that the

Shah left Iran, the fact that we no longer have a Shah. That's the greatest benefit that has befallen the people from the revolution. How important also is it that the American presence is now no longer being felt in this country? The Shah was an example of foreign rule within Iran. And once the Shah is no longer here, then it's very clear that American interests are no longer here. This next clip is from the episode we called Operation Condor 2.0. It's a one-off, at least for now. And we did it to cover the American-Israeli project to squash any signs of popular sovereignty, democratic self-government and economic independence in America's backyard. South America, of course, Operation Condor was that program in the 60s and in the 60s and 70s that was deployed by the United States by the capitalist imperialist powers that be at the time

to squash any form of socialist, meaningful socialist or communist movement. America's backyard. You'll hear in this cold open President Gerald Ford categorically denied that the United States was involved at all in the overthrow of President Aende in Chile. Of course, that was a fucking lie. And I like this one because if you know, those that know the history know that when Jared Ford speaks those words, he's lying. He's lying despite the fact that one of the Ford family mantras, as we know from our Jerry World's, series is to tell the truth. Without further ado, here is the clip from Operation Condor 2.0. Mr. President, recent congressional testimony has indicated that the CIA, under the direction of a

committee headed by Dr. Kissinger, attempted to destabilize the government of Chile under former President Ayende. Is it the policy of your administration to attempt to destabilize the governments of other democracies? Let me answer in general. I think this is a very important question. Our government, like other governments, does take certain actions in the intelligence field to help implement foreign policy and protect national security. Now, in this particular case, as I understand it, and there's no doubt in my mind,

our government had no involvement whatsoever in the Allende coup. To my knowledge, no money has charged that. The facts are we had no involvement in any way whatsoever in the coup itself. The campaign known as Operation Condor involved military dictatorships in Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay, Peru, and Uruguay. They work together to track down, and kidnap and kill people they labeled as terrorists, leftist, activists, labor organizers,

students, priests, journalists, guerrilla fighters, and their families. Evidence shows the CIA and former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger were complicit from its outset. I want to read from a declassified record of a CIA briefing. It says, quote, they're joining forces to eradicate subversion, a word which increasingly translates into nonviolent dissent from the left and center left. Between 75 and mid-78, he reported, quote, they count 22,000 between the dead and the disappeared. So I think that in the 1990s and beyond, we are going to see a lot more of this stuff that we've done in the past.

And one of the main reasons is that the United States is imposing this so-called neoliberal economic project. And that is also goes under different names like free market and so forth. But it results without fail, and it's imposed by the IMF, you know, and by the United States bilaterally and World Bank and all these organizations, WTO, World Trade Organization now. And it is imposed, and it means in every single case the marginalization of a great mass of the society in a foreign country. These could be 10, 20, 40 percent of the population who are redundant. They're not needed. They're superfluous. because the industry that develops and all the economic development leaves these people aside,

just like that is happening now in the United States, and it's one of the reasons why the extreme right movement in the United States is growing so fast. But that means that there's going to be resistance, and there will be people out there organizing, not the Zapatistas, for example, and others in Mexico, organizing to resist. And that means that there's a role for the CIA. Just like there was when guerrillas were operating in Bolivia or wherever. There's a role for the CIA to collect intelligence on them, to penetrate them,

divide, weaken, and destroy these forces. And so we're going to see this, I think, just like in the past. Go to these other countries. They sell whatever they have. As a matter of fact, their leaders are sorry. Slavery is over. Okay, that one is another banger in my book. All right, folks, if you'll just indulge me on one more of my favorite all-time mashups, clips, cold opens, what have you. This last one, I admit, is not from this past year. It's actually from our first year. doing the show. It's from the Warren Commission Decided 5, Episode 5, Part 1, and it's where we delve into John J. McCloy, one of the two members of the Warren Commission who represented, quote, members of the public. Of course, go back and listen to those episodes on McCloy, starting with Warren Commission Decided 5, and you'll see that McCloy, he was anything but the ordinary person, the ordinary member of public, the ordinary member of the public, I should say. This one was originally aired on December 13th, 2025. You can find it as episode number 20 on the free feed,

and I implore you to listen to that whole ass episode and the ones that follow it. I think there's three parts to the McCloy story. And I think for this one, you can listen to it as a standalone, because in this part five of the Warren Commission decided we really do give a nice setup. And that setup is this in the days following the Kennedy assassination and the lead up to building the Warren Commission, LBJ, he didn't want to establish a Warren Commission. His whole goal was to let Texas and the FBI handle it. But there were others outside of the government. These are folks that were in that spooky Georgetown set that we talk about.

These are folks like Joe Alsup of the Washington Post, folks like Eugene Rostow of Yale Law School. Through a series of phone calls to the LBJ administration, to Nicholas Kotson Mack, who was the Deputy AG at the time, they do this wonderful play where they basically incept the idea of a commission into, to LBJ's psyche. And those of you who might remember, we call Alsup and Rostow in the Georgetown set. We called them the Cold War Benny Jessert because they're whispering these ideas

over the phone to LBJ. And so here is the clip. You'll all pop to go see one, seven one. Right, brilliant. Just let me make one suggestion because I think this covers, I think, I think this bridges the gap, which I believe,

and Dean Atchison believes still exist. He and Bill Moyers are the only people I've talked to about it. And Friendly is going to come out tomorrow morning with a big thing about a, um, a, um, a, um, a, um, a, um, a, um, a, um, a, um, a, a, um, a, um, a, a, um, a, a, um, a, um, a, just the justice department of lawyers who are carrying on this is just things happen to sort, thought of a lot of people and you've thought of more other details than anyone else. No, what line, because we had no way to do. Uh, 2.17 line. A commission of seven or nine people, maybe Nixon, I don't know.

Right. Uh, to look into the whole affair of the murder of the president. I've got a party here. We've been pursuing the policy, you know, that people need to come together at this time. Because world opinion and American opinion is just now so shaken by the behavior. shaken by the behavior of the Dallas police. But they're not believing in it. They aren't tracking on it.

I know. Well, we got the FBI doing anything that, if there's any question about Texas operation, they got an FBI that is a, that's going to the bottom of it, and, President Rick, with the Attorney General. Now, I know that some of the lawyers, they thought of the Brewerven Commission first, the justice. And we just can't have them lobbying against the president when he makes these decisions. Nobody lobbied me. I lay awake all night.

Oh, that you, they lobbied me, they fight. Did they... And I'm sure you're right, except there's one missing piece. I suggest that you announce that as you do not want the Attorney General to have the painful responsibility of reporting on his own brother's assassination. The White House must not... The President must not inject himself in... I agree with that, but in this case, it does have to be the killing of the president.

And the thing is, I'm not suggesting if I'm, mind you, mind you, Mr. President, I'm not talking about an investigative body. I am talking about a body which would take the, all the evidence that the FBI has amassed when they have completed their inquiry and produce a public report. We talked about how LBJ, likely with the input of this cabal, came up with a list of names for the Warren Commission. And that list was calibrated to two objectives. One was to prevent any truly independent investigation of the assassination. We've called those the defensive picks.

I want to ask you a sir at my house. And the other objective was the converse objective to control the narrative affirmatively and to ensure that the lone nut theory prevailed while tamping out any perception of a conspiracy, whether a communist conspiracy that could spark a World War III or a right-wing conspiracy that the discovery of which could collapse the U.S. government. Well, there's a little bit McClough and Dulles and Ford and Bob. And Cuppering and Russell and Chief Justice Warren and chairman.
