I collect my roommates toenails and fingernails. Those were some callers from my call in podcast, Therapy Gecko. It's a show where I take phone calls from anonymous strangers as a fake gecko therapist and try to learn a little bit about their lives. I know that's a weird concept,
Starting point is 00:00:27 but I promise it's very interesting. Check it out for yourself by searching for Therapy Gecko on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. My truck was blown up by a 20-pound anti-tank mine. My parachute did not deploy. I was kidnapped by a drug cartel. When we step beyond the edge of what we know... I clinically died.
Starting point is 00:01:21 The heart stopped beating. ...which I was dead for 11.5 minutes. And returned. It's a miracle I was brought back. Prepare for our conversations to go deep.
Starting point is 00:01:55 I spent the majority of my teenage years, my 20s just feeling absolutely terrified. I had a panic attack on a conference call. Knowing that she had six months to live, I was no longer pretending that this was my best friend. So this Mental Health Awareness Month, take that extra bit of care of your wellbeing. Listen to the psychology of your 20s on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts,
Starting point is 00:02:15 or wherever you get your podcasts. I wish I got to go play in NFL Europe in my first few years to get to live in a European country, play American football. I don't think we would have made it out. If it was you or I, we would still be in Amsterdam. Brock would still be a Pole. He would have been playing for the freaking Bratwursts.
Starting point is 00:02:37 Whatever. What do they have over there? The Polish Bratwursts. The Polish sausages. I would have definitely never came back to America Polish sausages I'd be a perfect fit. Oh, I'd be a hero there in Poland Welcome to dudes on dudes. I'm Julian Edelman I'm Rob Gran Kowski and this is the show where your favorite dudes get to talk about their favorite dudes
Starting point is 00:03:02 We're back in Boston Boston being, bean town, we are here. Springtime is sizzling in the air. The golf ball is somewhere in the fucking woods. And we are back in Boston. And what are we talking about today, Robbie? The city of champions, ladies and gentlemen. And we're talking about Julian getting his red jacket. Would've never thought I would've got to be a Patriot
Starting point is 00:03:24 Hall of Famer, it's a freakin' honor. It was a no-brainer to put you first, battle. Then we get into the greatest kicker of all time, Adam Vinatieri. Confidence, that's what you want in a kicker. And one of the toughest O-linemen ever, Logan Mankins. Logan, rip your face off, Mankins.
Starting point is 00:03:42 Logan, sweetheart Mankins. And then we wrap it up doing some soul searching this week. Soul searching. On this week's Chill is Due to the Week presented by Coors Light. You got to stick around to the end. Let's go. Let's go. Dudes on Dudes is a production of I Heart Radio.
Starting point is 00:04:03 So Rob, we took dudes on dudes on the road we're here in Boston right in the back bay the heat of the city beautiful time of year how fucking beautiful is it outside bro I love New England weather especially you love New England weather in May that's why I did that's where I was getting to you know, especially in the summertime On a beautiful sunny day and it pops more Than the islands than the Bahamas and the Caribbean islands then anywhere down in Florida It's great being there in January February you get the sunshine 85 degrees in those spots
Starting point is 00:04:42 But when that sun shines and it's above 75 degrees in New England up here in the northern states and Buffalo included, New York included, you know Vermont included, I mean it's just a whole different level of vibes man. Everyone is just running out their front door to get outside, feel that sunlight, feel that energy and let me tell you Boston feels it right now, man. When I got off that bike and I turned through that tunnel and I got out in the streets of the, you know, of Boston, it was mayhem, man. I felt that energy.
Starting point is 00:05:15 Was there these people walking around? People everywhere, man. It felt like I was in New York City on like a bright sunny day as well, because there's people everywhere at every corner in New York City. But here in Boston on a bright sunny day, man, there's people everywhere at every corner in New York City but here in Boston on a bright sunny day man there was people at every corner I mean I'm talking stacks and stacks and stacks of people's wait is waiting at the next red light for the you know the walking signal to turn green there's about 50 people yeah that's a lot they're waiting a lot and the
Starting point is 00:05:41 scenery I went in golf to this morning at Milton Some some country club was it? Walliston beautiful course and Going back to the nice weather When you get that nice weather in like late spring in Boston and the freaking trees are blooming The freaking plants are popping. I mean, it smells good. It's just a great time of the year.
Starting point is 00:06:08 These are the days that you need when you live here in this city because of the whole four months of misery when it starts in late November to probably right now. It's kind of like today's everyone is popping their cherry, for their first time this whole entire year. It's everyone is popping their cherry, you know, for their first time this whole entire year. It's a cherry popping Sunday.
Starting point is 00:06:29 And we missed the cherry blossoms. That's about three weeks ago, you know, the cherry blossoms on Comm Ave where they bloom. People come around the world to just take pictures and write down all these trees, they bloom. We're going to have to catch it next year. We're going to we're going to Got a shout out Joe Cardona. Yeah, you know his wedding was the other day. How was that Jules? His how was Joe Cardona's wedding? It was awesome. It was awesome. Got to see the captain slate was there a
Starting point is 00:07:00 couple of the new generation pats, the new punter, the schooler kid, Dietrich Wise was there from the commanders. They play, you know, he played with New England for a long time. Uh, Ryan Allen was there. Steve Gaskowski was there. Matt fall or, uh, Falk was there. I mean, all the specialists were there. Um, shout out to Joe and his beautiful wife. Well, first off, all the specialists were there. Shout out to Joe and his beautiful wife.
Starting point is 00:07:25 Well, first off, all the specialists were there. Well, the Jules besides one because I'm special and I wasn't there as a specialist. So you guys were just missing one specialist. I think you were invited. It's okay. I think you were probably some, I think you had to go to Australia
Starting point is 00:07:45 Special you're you're Commercial for 24 hours, which is a true story by the way guy went to Australia for 24 hours for a fucking ice shaker commercial But let me explain this let me explain so he has his wedding It's in this beautiful old Roman Catholic church. Thing was built in probably 1732 after the Revolutionary War, which needed 40 more years or something like that. And then we go over to the Museum of Fine Arts
Starting point is 00:08:19 and we have like a little, you walk up and it feels like you're at the Met Gala because there's all these goddamn candles everywhere. It was so beautiful. Then you go up these stairs and we had like a part of the museum that we had a cocktail hour in. And I'm like sitting here, I'm like,
Starting point is 00:08:35 Jesus Christ, this is freaking nice. And then we go down to like the big area and they had an awesome band. They could hit all the genres, a little soul, a little Taylor Swift shit. They had it all, man. It was a fun wedding. Great to catch up with a lot of people that we had a lot of memories with. So shout out to Jo and Lily. And she actually had all these drawings throughout. She drew. So you see the napkins. It would be like there are two dogs and a house like all these skits like sketches
Starting point is 00:09:06 And then like at the church on the pamphlet it was like she did a drawing of the church Like so she did all this cool stuff, too. It was a really cool freaking wedding really a Smart people when you anytime you're at the Museum of Fine Arts There's you know Joe married in some good genes. Let's just say that I heard you talking as well earlier about Joe, you know Just so many great things about him, but you kind of also mentioned that he could possibly run for president You know one day is that true? Is that true? You see that in him or what? Well, what do you think like? He's got a squeaky clean Record he's he went to the Naval Academy.
Starting point is 00:09:46 Like he served and, and played professional sports can handle the pressure can handle the pressure like whenever you hear him speak in front of the people he has real thoughtful speaking skills. His wife is like a lawyer and she's got she's got like she's affluent as fuck Like it's just like I think he could be a politician. Mm-hmm. All right. Well Joe Congratulations on your wedding possibly a congratulations on
Starting point is 00:10:22 Running for presidency in the future and also good luck in Miami my friend good luck in Miami I just saw that you signed with the Miami Dolphins And also good luck in Miami, my friend. Good luck in Miami, bro. I just saw that you signed with the Miami Dolphins. I'm hoping that you stick with them and have a couple more years left in the NFL. He will, he will. No doubt. And plus, he's Latino, he's gonna have a nice tan on there.
Starting point is 00:10:37 He sure will. And on top of all this Patriots talk, you've got to see your fellow teammates and all that. What about you, Jules? You're the talk of the town with the New England Patriots man. First ballot Hall of Famer for the New England Patriots man. Congratulations to you. Well deserved. There was no doubt in my mind that you weren't going to be a first ballot either. I mean what you have done for the New England Patriots organization,
Starting point is 00:11:01 how many times you came in the, you know, through in the clutch situations, not just, you know, for Tom, not just for the offense, but for the whole entire organization, how many times you came in clutch for me, you know, out there on the field because without your success, I wouldn't have success. So I appreciate you, brother. Congratulations. You deserve it. And what was that phone call like when you got it? That's my question
Starting point is 00:11:27 How did that feel first off? Thanks for those kind words Rob. That means a lot. I Mean it was a no-brainer to put you first back regardless Fucking nice words. What can I say? They're nice words. They're really nice. I liked I liked them They were super super nice words. So I'm on you know, I'll explain how I got the call. Um, let's hear it. I'm on the golf course I'm on the golf course. You win this golf game now, and you're not getting you're kind of like and it's not getting better Yeah, but you're honestly getting worse as long as your accuracy is getting better than your products not coming back Okay, well then it's not that games not getting better your distance and power is is there but your accuracy needs to get better Yeah, you know, I say your golf swing your kind of like getting me to you know miles an hour always
Starting point is 00:12:13 You're kind of want to get getting me to get on the golf course now You should I you could probably be you'd be like fucking happy Gilmore on there it you and read our movie I'd stop, you know paddle sports real good. So you can square shit up. But getting back to getting the call, I was at El Cab. Mr. Stacey calls and hands the phone to Mr. Craft. And you know, we had a nice conversation. And wait, did Stacey tell you or was he like, hey, I got Mr. Craft here?
Starting point is 00:12:39 I have Mr. Craft here. All right. Big shot Stacey now. He's moving up in the ranks. I think that he always does that kind of stuff I know but I just wanted to say that He'll appreciate that comment He's been there forever man. Yeah forever. He's going in the pages. How long he actually won for?
Starting point is 00:12:55 Yeah, he's done with a lot of right a lot of media. He's next he's He can vote himself and we We should vote him in. I'm voting for Casey, or Stacey. Yeah, so I was at El Cab, ended up shanking a drive right after, a little too excited I guess. But it was cool. It was cool.
Starting point is 00:13:18 I don't know any of the details. I think they'll come up with that. That's something you get to, you know, your family loves and It's it's it's an honor to get to be in the same Class with the guys that are in that, you know Hall of Fame, you know, and it was a 22 year old me I would have never thought I would have got to Be a patriot Hall of Famer. It's it's freaking honor
Starting point is 00:13:41 So did you shed a tear? I shed a I I didn't I shed a No, I didn't shed a tear I what did you shed your beard? I shed a beard Not a tear I didn't I I felt you know, I felt great I felt happy for my parents my dad likes that shit Mm-hmm. You know your parents like that kind of stuff. Mm hmm. But let's get into some other stuff. What's up with Derek Carr?
Starting point is 00:14:11 Derek Carr, he's he's he heard his shoulder. Is he is he retiring? Mm hmm. He's retiring. He retired. He's done for good. Wow. I mean, that's kind of a short career. It was kind of like a long career for him,
Starting point is 00:14:27 but also a short career at the same time because he's a quarterback. He played 11 years, which is plenty in the NFL, but also it's really not for quarterback that's at that high of a level that's playing, you know, that consistent. I mean, he's consistent, but he's not consistent, but still at that consistency that he has is a lot better than a lot of quarterbacks out there. And then just to see him hang it up, he had to be hurting or something, which they said in the report said, he's about to have shoulder surgery. Yeah. So he's going to be out for the whole year in 2025. So I kind of understand that, uh, you know,
Starting point is 00:15:04 and then also you got to understand if he has the love for the game still or not, you know, if you don't, well then yes, hang it up. That's the right move to do. It's miserable to play in the NFL. If you don't have that love for the game still, it hurts every single day. I mean, you're kind of just praying on God's word just to get you through every single day. And that's not how to get you through every single day. And that's not how you want to live in the NFL. So I feel like, you know, this is the right decision
Starting point is 00:15:32 for him if that's, you know, what he's feeling. Yeah, when you say consistent, he's consistently been hit a lot in this league. He's taken a lot of sacks. He's been beat up, man. Uh, you know, some of those O lines with the Raiders, I just always remember him taking on, he's, he's been sacked a bunch, man. And that, that adds up. And it really does.
Starting point is 00:15:55 You know, every time you get hit, you know, when you're exiting your twenties and you're getting into those thirties, it hurts. Like when you get hit, like you used to be able to run like 20 miles an hour and you fall down people don't realize I'm like a regular play you're running 16 miles an hour you fall down you bounce up. Nothing's wrong We do that like 31 to Like you feel that the next couple days you don't recover the same and then also I mean anytime you're banged up And you you're not really winning, that mentally can kill you. You know, he's fighting to get healthy,
Starting point is 00:16:33 like the last few years, and then he gets healthy and he's been on a couple teams that have been, you know, they haven't really panned out the way he's wanted to. But you gotta tip your cap to Derek Carr. He had a pretty solid career You know, he he threw for a lot of yards about I think like above 40,000 yards Yeah, 41,000 yards. He's got
Starting point is 00:16:57 257 touchdowns 112 picks so he's 2 to 1. Mm-hmm. You know, I mean? That's that's pretty good. I mean, here's the kicker though he was sacked 254 times a lot of his career and just think about it if you're just just a Person just chill in there and all of a sudden you just get blindsided out of nowhere That can literally just one of those blindside hits can literally you know Disproportion all of your mechanics and your mindset. I mean, and he got sacked 254 times and how many of those were blindsided?
Starting point is 00:17:32 Probably about, you know, 75 of them, I would say. So like those all add up just on a continuous basis. So therefore, yes, you think these quarterbacks don't get hit, but they really do get punished as well when you take that many sacks. So I mean, you know, shout out to, you know, Derek Carr for his wonderful career and congratulations, importantly, though, I would say, man, get healthy, get healthy, man, get healthy because you have a long life to
Starting point is 00:18:01 live. Still, you have kids in the future. If you already don't have kids, you got whatever else. Coaching, you just want to be living a healthy life. That's what it's all about when football's over. So just get healthy, man. Wonderful career. What would you describe his career as, his legacy as, Jules?
Starting point is 00:18:20 I'd say solid. Solid? That's about right. Solid. Solid. Not a Hall of Famer. He's a solid career I mean what he made the playoffs few times very solid They were always pretty competitive Just couldn't you know I mean he did this is a hard league, and that's the hardest position to play in this mm-hmm You know there is so 11 years in the National Football League. He's made a whole lot of money
Starting point is 00:18:44 He made a lot of money in this league. He's made over 200 Bill he made how much money is he made he made a lot of money. Mm-hmm. So he's made some big plays And you know, it's gonna be exciting to see what the Saints do now I know they who they draft in the second round guy named like Tyler schlong or something in the second round. A guy named like Tyler Schlong or something out of Louisville. Schlau? Schlau? Oh, Tyler Schlau.
Starting point is 00:19:08 Schlau? I saw Deon Branch talking about him. There's no L. Deon Branch I saw talking about him when I pulled up my Twitter the other day. And then I was like, this guy must have went to Louisville. And then I looked it up and he did go to Louisville. So Deon Branch, shout out to Deon Branch.
Starting point is 00:19:23 I love you, brother. But he was just being a little biased, I think. So Dion Branch, shout out to Dion Branch. I love you brother. But he was just being a little biased, I think. He's like, he's the real deal. I've heard every quarterback that got drafted in this year's draft is the real deal. Even the six rounders, like the guy that went to the Pittsburgh Steelers from Ohio State, great college career,
Starting point is 00:19:40 but there's people out there like, oh, he's gonna be a starting quarterback in the NFL. But I've heard this about every draft pick so far even the Las Vegas player from North Dakota State I think he was from that got drafted in the seventh round or six what he's gonna be a heck of a starter for Tyler mallet you know a heck of a starter for but I heard he's a is he yeah he's a receiver right already. Yeah, he's he's turning a receiver. I've heard the comps everyone's really he's kind of like He's been you know
Starting point is 00:20:10 My story his story We'll see if it lines up. Yeah, we'll see if If he can pull off a jewels no one could pull off a jewels. He made 205 million dollars Derek Carr. $205 million. You know what, why? It doesn't matter if he got a Super Bowl. It doesn't matter how many playoff wins he has.
Starting point is 00:20:32 It doesn't matter if he's going to the house. It doesn't matter if he's healthy. He can buy his health now. Yeah, he can. He can buy a new show. This guy made $205 million. I mean, he could go to China right now and have an AI doctor work on him.
Starting point is 00:20:44 Literally. They have fucking 42 AI doctors working in a hospital right now. Well, Tommy Mallet, we were just talking about you as well. Don't change positions, man. Don't change positions. 205 million. Shout out, man. That's awesome. Congratulations to him and his career. You've been watching these hoops. I have been. I don't really watch NBA regular season or or much like NHL regular season either.
Starting point is 00:21:09 But then all of a sudden, when NHL playoffs come in, like NBA playoffs come on, the biggest fan out there. And, you know, the comparison between an NHL game in the regular season and a NHL playoff game is literally night and day, man. So is it the same comparison to a regular season game in the NBA compared to a playoff NBA game? A little bit. I would say NBA playoffs and NBA regular season game
Starting point is 00:21:36 are more of the same pace. It's definitely amped up more, but the NHL regular season game is amped up so much more in the playoffs because they don't bang each other like they do in a regular season game is amped up so much more in the playoffs because they don't bang each other like they do in a regular season game. I mean, they play hard, they're a little physical and the skills are there. But I'm talking the physicality of an NHL game in the playoffs is just skyrocketed.
Starting point is 00:21:58 And that's what brings the best out of hockey. And I like how they kind of amp it up in the playoffs because if they did that all all year long in the regular season I don't think there would really be any guys left for the playoffs. Yeah well they begin physical in NBA too the refs haven't been calling it. Draymond's you know he's averaging two or three hard fouls I don't know there's like a technical game through I think. I don't know the different fouls there's so many different types of fouls now there's like a urgency foul the this foul that foul out of bounds foul free break foul but they've been playing hard man Celtics finally you know can hold off their 20-point lead mm-hmm in the third game like I'm
Starting point is 00:22:42 excited to see what they do I think those first two games were just kind of a fluke, you know? It happens. It happens. You can't have too many flukes. No, you can't, but they're a team that knows how to pick it up. They've been down before in this situation, and they've been through the whole journey of the playoffs and winning it all, you know, which was last year. So they know what it takes.
Starting point is 00:23:04 And being down, you know, 2-0, there's five more games left. You just got to climb, you know, which was last year. So they know what it takes and being down, you know, two, oh, there's five more games left. You just got to climb, you know, it's just crazy. One game at a time. It really is. You know what I mean? Because those they they like kind of won those games, but just missed the shots like they were getting there or taking kind of crazy shots to at the end. But then like when they when they're when they're all making,
Starting point is 00:23:22 like they blow them out. It's just the basketball is nuts right out. Mm-hmm. It's just The basketball is nuts right now. It's weird. It's nuts I've 20 point games are like you're still in it and the physicality though. That's what I really love you You did bring that up I mean the NBA playoffs have been really physical compared to other years, especially during the regular season And it's fun to watch and if the Celtics don't win it all this year My second favorite team out there is Denver because of Yolkich. You would be Yolkich on the floor. Yes that you are Yolkich
Starting point is 00:23:52 I Love that comparison you that's what I see you on the field. That's near on the basketball. I can see my heart I love that player. He's actually my favorite player in the NBA Why did why do you think you're like? Yo, kids, you're on the law of Yolk. It's why what makes you what makes it like I see big dude that Like the way he moves That's you. Yeah, like but he's even bigger than me, but like we got similar movements. Also the way he looks He's kind of like him, you know
Starting point is 00:24:24 I don't want to say this about him cuz I really love him and I would date him if I was a he looks he's kind of like him you know I don't want to say this about him because I really love him and I would date him if I was a woman but he's kind of a uglier version of me yeah I would still date him like if I was a hot chick and he's got like a big nose too and I got a big nose and and just his personality as well he just wants to get it done. You don't care Yeah, oh Well, that's what someone told me and I kind of was like, okay, I guess I agree I don't want to say that cuz I love him so much. Oh my god He's a lovable player and he rides donkeys and shit
Starting point is 00:24:59 He plays like your dad at the YMCA who when like you're in eighth grade and he was in like his knees braces and stuff and he just didn't like Didn't really move a lot but always scored Like it's crazy. It's just nuts And that's why I'm cheering for the Denver Nuggets if the Boston Celtics don't win it all and then my third favorite team Just because he just has so much game and like swag and he talks so much shit is the Minnesota Timberwolves Timberwolves with Anthony Edwards. I just I just love how he projects himself with confidence and and just the way he talks backs it
Starting point is 00:25:38 up. I mean, it's fun to watch. I became a fan of Anthony Edwards after I saw the movie hustle with Adam Sandler when he was like the guy that Would talk shit to the the European dude in the 101 games like he's a fun player to watch the sgk kid man Oklahoma City they're fucking good. Mm-hmm. He's from Montreal. Yeah, I actually don't know much about Oklahoma City that's like a small market team that can be really good, but like only that market sees them or a true NBA fan sees them play. I have not seen an Oklahoma City game in two years now with that player on the team,
Starting point is 00:26:16 but I've only heard great things about him. Didn't we go to Oklahoma City game once? Yeah, about 15 years ago. With Welker. Yeah, with Welker we sat right next to the bench. That's when- We did a charity event. Kevin Durant was on the team. Yeah, about 15 years ago. With Welker. Yeah, with Welker. We sat right next to the bench. That's when... We did a charity event. Kevin Durant was on the team.
Starting point is 00:26:28 Yeah, KD. Yeah, that was cool. Fucking KD. That was a cool experience. That was my first... I love KD. ...MBA game. Yeah, I think it was mine too.
Starting point is 00:26:36 It was. That was really cool. That's what made me get obsessed with going courtside, and that's why we always started doing it when we went back to Boston. No, I think Boston... Yeah, we Boston they took care of us They don't took care of us man McKenzie yeah shout out to the Celtics always taking care of us going to the playoff games regular season games Just hooking us up with tickets. We thank you making it easy on us
Starting point is 00:26:57 We thank you for that it was easier to get Boston Celtics Courtside tickets to the games then getting tickets to our own games now like when you're sitting courtside do your big-ass size 18 feet ever get up on that damn court and trip somebody oh I'm always watching out for my feet I gotta make sure that they're tucked away like because I'm like a little ass dude and I can feel those little ass chairs I don't want to be responsible like this tripping one of them players one of the balls came once when I was sitting there with my dad Then like yeah, my dad like put his arm over like we almost got in a car wreck. I'm like dad. I'm fucking
Starting point is 00:27:31 28 years old He went like this like I still got it dad. Yeah For the market I can catch a damn bad when your parents used to slam the brain You're in the front and they put their arm. Mm-hmm My dad did that when a ball was coming to me at the Celtics It's just natural reflex. I guess it is fatherly love. Man, how about mercy? Murci? Hitting Marchi? Oh the game winner in overtime. I know is he gonna get another one? They won it last year didn't they? Yeah, the Panthers won it last year.
Starting point is 00:27:59 Panthers are always sneaky good like I don't hear anything of the Panthers ever until like the Stanley Cup. It's kind of like the you know, the same situation with Oklahoma City small market team you know Florida Panthers don't really have a fan base either I mean not a traditional hockey town Oklahoma's not a traditional basketball town really you kind of think football in those areas. Yeah exactly but uh yeah Marshawn with the game winner, they're down at what? 2-1 right now. But if he didn't hit that game winner, they could possibly be down 3-0, which is kind of hard to come back hard series. But they're right in it now. 2-1. And he could possibly get a Stanley Cup with the Panthers. They're going for the repeat. But I kind of want
Starting point is 00:28:40 to see a Canadian team win it. They haven't done it in years. I really want to see it. I love Conor McDavid. He's my favorite player right now in the NHL. His skills just surpass anyone else's. He's just a phenomenal athlete on the ice. And I'm just a big fan. And I'm hoping they pull it off. And I do because I'm a Buffalo Sabres fan. That's my team at heart.
Starting point is 00:29:01 So I don't really care who truly wins, especially with the Celtics I'm not the service with the Bruins out right now So I kind of want to go with a Canadian team that win it just to see how bazonkers a Canadian city Will go 1000% and Connor McDavid deserves one too. Is it they are they like? Here's the MVP last year of the Stanley Cup and they lost. Yeah, I know that I know that's crazy to me. Yep Yeah, I would love that too ever since we went we went to Vancouver You know, I got a little and then we had the Four Nations like I'm like in the Canada mode the Four Nations brought hockey back
Starting point is 00:29:37 brought hockey back the Four Nations played like the NHL playoffs and that's why Four Nations was such a Great hair now And also because Trump was talking garbage about Canada and Canada was facing the U.S. So everything hit at perfect time, perfect timing, which was great. I love that. Like that passion came came out
Starting point is 00:29:56 of Canada for Four Nations. It brought that like tournament to a whole nother level. Well, they were, you know, so we went and did that speaking thing during that Four Nations in Canada. And like the Canadians are so nice these people but Their way of talking like they had a little like jab by like they gave us a bunch of like Canadian gear like here You go our Canadian hockey stuff. Mm-hmm, like sorry. Sorry
Starting point is 00:30:20 I did though. I know they had some some nice gear. But like it was like a jab, but it was like a nice jab. It was like a gift basket full of like Canadian stuff. Like, look at this jersey we got you. It's team Canada. Sorry. I'm not your buddy, pal. I wore it. We'll be right back after this quick break.
Starting point is 00:30:39 I found out that I was related to the guy that I was dating. I don't feel emotions correctly. I am talking to a felon right now and I cannot decide if I like him or not. Those were some callers from my call-in podcast, Therapy Gecko. It's a show where I take real phone calls from anonymous strangers all over the world

Sarah Jessica Parker is here and she is sharing stories from the very beginning, like the time she forgot we filmed the pilot episode. I remember some things about shooting the pilot. Right. I have some memories I can fill you in.
Starting point is 00:33:02 You're going to fill me in. Yes. But then you forgot about it? I completely forgot about it. And she reveals what she thought when she read the script for Sex and the City the very first time. He said he wrote this like I was in his head in some way, which I found really interesting. And does she think Carrie is too good for Mr. Big? She had inexplicable feelings.
Starting point is 00:33:23 Got it. Carrie is too good for Mr. Big. She had inexplicable feelings. Starting point is 00:33:45 My truck was blown up by a 20 pound anti-tank mine. My parachute did not deploy. I was kidnapped by a drug cartel. I just remember everything getting dark. I'm dying. When we step beyond the edge of what we know. To open our consciousness to something more than just what's in that Western box. In return.
Starting point is 00:34:07 I clinically died. The heart stopped beating. Which I was dead for 11.5 minutes. My name is Dan Bush. My mission is simple, to find, explore, and share these stories. I'm not a victim, I'm a survivor. You're strongest when you're the most vulnerable.

Starting point is 00:34:42 All right, let's jump into these dudes. Let's get into these dudes. Let's get this AI summary. Bum, bum, bum. The AI summary is back. Start the clock. All right. Here we go. At six foot, 212 pounds from Yankton, South Dakota.
Starting point is 00:35:01 He played 24 NFL seasons with the New England Patriots and Indianapolis Colts. A product of South Dakota State, he went undrafted but earned a roster spot after time in NFL Europe. Known for his mental toughness and accuracy under pressure, he became the NFL's all-time leading scorer with 2,673 points and 599 field goals made. He is also in the history books for the most postseason points 238 and field goals 56. He won four Super Bowls with the game-winning kicks and two of them plus he was the hero in the famous Snow Bowl against the Oakland Raiders. Let's get on Adam Vinatieri. Adam Vinatieri, here we go. Vinatieri.
Starting point is 00:35:47 I'll start with this. Adam Vinatieri, I never met him. He was before my time, you know, with the New England Patriots, even though we played in the NFL together at the same time. But he was on the Colts, you know, his second half of his career. Heard many great things about him, knew about his history. Never got to meet him, though. And then I'm doing the kick of destiny, you know, with FanDuel. It's a live, you know, commercial and I'm kicking a field goal. And if I make it, we're giving out prizes.
Starting point is 00:36:15 So obviously I need a kicking coach. What did FanDuel do? They went and got Adam Vinatieri as my kicking coach. So I was really thrilled that I finally got to meet the legend Adam Vinatieri because he was a Patriot, I was a Patriot. So I thought this was gonna be a really really cool and special moment and it lived up to expectations when I met him for the first time on the set man. He's such a cool dude, he's down to earth. If not the best kicker in the NFL of all time. You know, he's up there top one, two or three. But it was just so cool to shoot a commercial with him, get some tips from him. But he didn't, you know, give me enough tips because I missed my kick. Not to say maybe I shouldn't put coaching on this resume. Yeah, so coaching,
Starting point is 00:36:59 coaching cross that off. Yeah, sorry Adam. No, you're coaching or else. I would have made that kick No, Adam. Vinny Terry is also one of those Legendary names that was talked about in the locker room past his time there Mm-hmm. I mean whether it was the training staff with Jimmy Whalen Joe Van Allen They always talk about Vinny Terry and and you could see how much everyone loved Adam Vin and Terry because of how clutch he was in the most important moments. And that's what Adam did.
Starting point is 00:37:32 He made the biggest kicks in the snowball, in the first Super Bowl, another Super Bowl. There's countless other ones to get them to the Super Bowl. And he's just a, he was a monster. And he's like jacked now. Have you seen him lately? He's Jack. I know dude. He was he jacked on the on the set. Yes. That's all I was talking about to everyone I'm like, how is Adam Vinatieri so freaking jacked like I'm not even that jacked and I was telling him in person I'm like man. I admire like how jacked you are and he was loving it. He was put he was down point
Starting point is 00:38:04 He's like all Gronk like you're not jacked. I'm like, no, I'm not as jacked as you buddy Do you like look at him check him out man? Jesus Christ Vinatieri Holy you would have never thought he was a kicker No, the kickers though. They they get obsessed with things like witherspoon was jacked member from the the the Giants like these guys they're all look like they're all a little different in the head but you know I was just around him last night at the wedding and you know he was hard he was a he was like a he's a legend man he is the most wild story about him though when I was talking
Starting point is 00:38:42 to him because you know we were talking for a while on set and he started telling me about his career You know before he got to the NFL which which which was shocking to me I think what he told me he played in NFL Europe and Amsterdam Yeah, correct, and that's where he got seen but like a guy that is such a legend played 24 seasons in the NFL the best kicker of all time We we gotta say that right? Yeah, best kicker of all time. Yes. Yeah, he has to be gotta be at see Recency bias some there could be some situations. No. Yeah, he's how automatic he was and also how many seasons he played And he was good in all elements all elements
Starting point is 00:39:28 snowy sunny rainy cold hot Cheerleaders in front of his face. No cheerleaders in front of his face bill yelling at him on a shitty Colts team on a great New England team on a shitty Colts team, on a great New England team. He was still making kicks. He was still making kicks. He won a Super Bowl with the Colts too. Now, we gotta go back.
Starting point is 00:39:51 Wait, wait, wait. How about he won a Super Bowl with the Colts? Yeah, with Peyton. Oh. Oh crap. I think he. Dang. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:40:01 When did he leave New England? I think like 2000, I want to say 2006. And then when did the Colts win the Super Bowl? 2005. Because Steve, they got Steven 6, then they went 07, and then they went 8, 9, 2006. His first year after they got rid of Vander Jack. Wow. Wow. Wow.
Starting point is 00:40:25 Well, Joel, that's kind of, that kind of makes sense now on why you just went into the Patriots Hall of Fame before Adam Vinatieri because you're a patriot for life. You're Foxboro forever. You are only a patriot. Adam Vinatieri, this kind of makes sense now. I think he played more years with the Indianapolis Colts than he did with the New England Patriots. And I would say that factors into it as well,
Starting point is 00:40:52 when it comes to voting. Because I was wondering how he's not in already, which he should be in already. I thought I was hands down losing to Adam Ben and Terry. But that kind of makes sense now, why you got in over him, because he played more with the Colts with a team that England is not like, you know, so you kind of wait your turn now buddy because you played for the Colts to
Starting point is 00:41:12 May use a hell of a football player, but go let's how about his story though these NFL He's I love hearing the NFL Europe guys when they come like I Europe guys when they come. Like, I wish I got to go play in NFL Europe in my first few years to get to live in a European country, play American football. Amsterdam, they used to have it in Frankfurt and I think they had Barcelona teams and shit. Like, that would have been kind of cool, even though you're not like big or anything, but you're still learning the game. Like my first few years. I rather have done like maybe in like Amsterdam or you go I'd never been to Europe at that time of my life. That would have been fucking crazy.
Starting point is 00:41:50 I don't think we would have made it out. No. Like Adam Vinatieri made it out. Yeah. If it was you or I, we would still be in Amsterdam. Brock would still be a Poland. He would have been playing for the freaking bratwursts or whatever what do they have? The Poland bratwurst. The Polish sausages. I would have definitely never came
Starting point is 00:42:12 back to America playing for the Polish sausages. Oh I'd be a perfect fit. Oh I'd be a hero there in Poland. You want to know what's cool I was in Poland last year and I swear no one knows me in Poland. It would look like every's cool? I was in Poland last year and I swear no one knows me in Poland. It was, it was, it looked like every other person. Yeah, exactly. I loved it. I loved it. I want to go back because of that reason. No, no, not everyone's tall. So what are you? It's a laid, it's a laid back European country. So a lot of these countries in Europe, you know, they're all different styles, you know, even though they're all one in Europe, but they all have their different, you know, it factor in Poland is really, really laid back and more low key out by beautiful, the nature, the grass, the woods. I mean, it's the most beautiful
Starting point is 00:42:58 settings I've ever seen in my life. And now it makes sense why I'm so beautiful now to true. Yeah. Now what was the food like? Yeah, food was phenomenal. I was eating gas station cheeseburgers left and right. my life and now it makes sense why I'm so beautiful now too. Yeah. Yeah. What was the food like? Yeah. Food was phenomenal. I was eating gas station cheeseburgers left and right. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:43:12 A plus grade. Talking no antibiotics in those gas station cheeseburgers. What do you add? Phenomenal. I was eating them left and right. The mayonnaise like different mayonnaise you would ever have here in the United It's a only maybe yeah unbelievable man. I just be pouring the mayonnaise on man on those burgers Oh, so good burgers in through the roof are the best we gotta go to get I gotta go to a gas station
Starting point is 00:43:37 I'm you don't know as a burger guy you have to all right enough said No, pierogies. You didn't have any pierogies. No, I did but the gas station cheeseburgers won me over You I know it was cool was like like there's this boss. I was taking a piss in the gas station I pulled over taking a piss and then this boss of like tourism came because they were just checking out the whole country and Like literally like 60 people got off the bus and I'm like usually like oh crap like if I'm in the US I'm like I gotta get out of here all these people are gonna like you know ask me for pictures literally all these people just get out the bus load up the whole gas station I'm like freaking out I'm like
Starting point is 00:44:16 oh but then I'm like oh wait no one knows me here and I was just in there with 60 people coming off of this bus just enjoying my cheeseburger and having all the freedom I needed in the world been sorry were you just going up and down the hallways like enjoying that like man I could get some gum right now yep I don't have any anxiety of people not well maybe I get some chips I'm going up to them and asking them questions you're asking question yeah just when I was just for barely well so let let me hear. How do you how do you? Do you go Spanish? What do you how do you do this? So if I'm someone in Poland, what were you saying like hey? Where's the gummy bears
Starting point is 00:44:57 Now do you say gummy bear or anything like shop, what do they sound like? Sure, she's got none. It's Jeremy. Yeah, there you go to German. That's good. I'm not good at imitations like what do they sound like? Sure. Jeremy. Yeah, there you go. To German. I'm not good at imitations. You are. Yeah, that's exactly how it sounds like. Like that. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:45:14 Bursk Bursk. Mm hmm. Fucking Adam Venetary playing in Amsterdam gets us talking about Poland. What's the number one trait that you look for in a kicker that Adam Venetary had as well that made him special jewels. What is it? Come on, let's hear it.
Starting point is 00:45:28 And then we get on to what kind of. For me it's his swag. Really his swag? Yeah, like he always had a confidence. Every time Adam Venatieri lined up for a kick and like his little antique, he like, he act like he was there already. Like he was just clockwork. I remember he had the one he had the single button He always had the single chin strap like he would go up there, and he had a black cleat on I always remember
Starting point is 00:45:53 He had different cleats in the Super Bowl, and you just you saw a swagger of confidence Always and that's what you want from your but like a real confidence. I've met some kickers where they like thing. Oh, I Remember I met some young kicker and he was bringing up Adam Vinatieri I said buddy let's make a kick in the league before we even start bringing up Adam Vinatieri's name. Jesus fucking Christ Like you know what I mean confidence confidence confidence it is That's what you want in a cat like like even with like member of a folk and that's what Vinatieri had Yeah Like even with like member of a folk and that's what Vinny Terry had yeah Folk like he was he was also just he didn't he didn't have the leg crazy leg But he's still kicking and what do you see in like the they're a calm cool
Starting point is 00:46:34 Swagger that they have Steve. He had that caught they're like they're just calm Cool, you don't hear much, but you see them all the time because they make big fucking plays. Mm-hmm I like it one more It's Adam Vinatieri the most clutch athlete of all time most clutch athlete Did he make all his game-winning field goals? like basically I think so I Mean, I mean but kind of kicker
Starting point is 00:47:03 Be considered the most clutch athlete of all time I mean, it's such a hard question because they have to be clutch. Mm-hmm So like even if you're talking about most clutch athletes, you're basically banking on your kicker to being clutch And if he's the greatest kicker of all time That means he's the most clutch of a clutch position I mean it there it could be argued. I mean what you got Michael Jordan Tom Brady up in there Tiger Woods Adam Vinatieri mmm Joe Montana Montana Time Adam Vinatieri we can say is the most clutch kicker of all the most clutch kicker of all time there we go
Starting point is 00:47:46 I like that well, let's get on to it. What kind of dude is Adam Venetary? What kind of dude is he hmm? Man is he a stud I? Mean he had to go a long road He did have to go to Europe before he came to the NFL the NFL Europe before he came to the NFL, the NFL Europe, undrafted guy, North Dakota kid, didn't get many offers, so he doesn't have the stud pedigree. Is he a freak?
Starting point is 00:48:12 I mean, I'm pretty sure he played quarterback in high school, linebacker in high school. He should play linebacker right now after seeing that fucking picture. Yeah, and now he's done playing, and he looks like an absolute physical freak of nature Like with how jacked he is So he could be a freak. He could be a freak. It doesn't I don't when I see Adam, but he's not a freak He's not a freak. No, he's not a dudes dude. He could be a dudes dude because
Starting point is 00:48:38 You know, he I don't I wasn't around him So but usually kickers great kickers are dudes dudes. And he's not a whiz because if he was a whiz, he would have taught me all the mechanics I needed to make a kick. And I missed my kick when he was my coach with the kick of destiny. So he's definitely not a whiz.
Starting point is 00:48:57 On three, what is he? One, two, three, dog. Dog. Oh, oh. But he's a stud. I mean, all the clutch kicks. He had to go a long road. He had to go to NFL Europe, bro. Oh, oh But he's a stud Road he had to go to NFL Europe, bro. He had to go to an NFL. He was undrafted He gets picked up like that was an underdog story
Starting point is 00:49:15 And then he just so happened to play 24 fucking years in the NFL Motivated to you got a house motivate relentlessness and dogs damn beard dogs have that relentlessness in them He that place 24 seasons and then become a bodybuilder when he's done and start I mean, he's magic in the air jewels The guy has made basically every clutch kick that ever existed in Mankind's history in the game of football. I mean, that's what studs do. What is a dog? They're physically and mentally tough,
Starting point is 00:49:50 motivated guys that came from nothing. Guys like Adam Vinatieri that come from South Dakota, North Dakota. Who knows Dakota? But you're coming from a Dakota and you're kicking game winning field goals in the goddamn snowball. You convinced convinced me let's do it again one two three dog Adam who Terry all right on to our next on to our next jewels what is
Starting point is 00:50:20 AI have to say about our next guy? Born in 1982 in Cathays Valley, California This former NFL offensive guard is renowned for his toughness and consistency Standing six feet four inches tall and weighing 308 pounds He honed his skills at Fresno State where he excelled as a left tackle and earned first team all-whack honors in He excelled as a left tackle and earned first team all-whack honors in 2004. The New England Patriots selected him 32nd overall in the first round of the 2005 NFL Draft, transitioning him into left guard. He immediately became a starter, beginning a streak of 161 consecutive starts over 11 seasons with the Patriots and later the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Starting point is 00:51:05 Throughout his career he was a seven-time Pro Bowl selection and earned first team all-pro honors in 2010. Despite playing in two Super Bowls he never secured a championship ring. After retiring he became a cattle farmer in Massachusetts. Let's get on Logan Mancans. Logan Mancans. Logan, I love you Mancans. Logan, sweetheart Mancans. Logan, nice teddy bear Mancans.
Starting point is 00:51:36 Logan, rip your fucking face off. Mancans. Just, what is it when a dog just scratches the crap out of you until you just bleed? Mankins. That one. That one works too. Speaking of scratching, he has the largest mitts.
Starting point is 00:51:53 Have you remember his hands? That's where I was getting after, Jules. Remember when you shake Logan's hand? I remember I shook Logan's hand for the first time and his hand went up to my fucking forearm. I mean, It's crazy. What's the first thing you think of when you hear? Logan Makins besides all those middle names that we just gave him. I think of his wife Cara Okay, can you explain more please?
Starting point is 00:52:19 All right, thanks Thank you for clarifying that one. Jules Well, we they were like he was like the big brother to all like the slapdicks of the team if you didn't have your family at the You know for like Thanksgiving or Christmas or anytime we had like a holiday The Mancans and Cara she'd always invite everyone on the younger guys over and they would cook for us. They're just like unbelievable people. But getting back to Logan, like his tenacity is. You know, I was making a joke thing about Kara because she'd probably beat me up if I didn't say her name.
Starting point is 00:53:00 But, um, yeah, his tonight, he's still going to beat you up. Yeah, she's probably going to. Yeah. Logan is going Logan is gonna too. No Logan Logan will just laugh at her. I want him to Logan is the nicest guy ever He would laugh at that. He would laugh at her beating me up. That's Cara. Yeah No, but his tenacity. Oh, that's a big word. Yeah, he's tenacious Tenacious D like black Jane Jack Jack black, right? Does he have tenation in him too? He's got ten. Tenacious D. Like, black. Jack Black, right? Does he have tenation in him too? He's got tenation in him. Tenacity, tenacist, tenation. He got whatever that is. He's got it all.
Starting point is 00:53:36 He just, I just, when he would go and play, like, you felt safe with him. Like anytime there was a fight, I remember around the piles and like anytime there was a fight I Remember around the piles and stuff. There's a fight going on one of these times and around the pile and everybody got pulled by someone I was like, ah, who is it? And you know, he like your dad pulls you back. Mm-hmm It was Logan he like pulled me and like pulled me to safety. Oh man. Thank God Shit, and then he went back in there and start beat. I think he got ejected that game or something Well, how do you describe that type of strength? What is it that he has? Man strength. Country strong. There you go. What else? Farmer strong. There you go.
Starting point is 00:54:14 Those are about three adjectives right there to describe his strength, you know, pretty right on. Well, he's, you know what? I love having Logan Mancans Because he's a California kid and People think he's like some like Midwest guy or some South guy. No, he's a cattle rancher from fucking Fresno East California. He's a California fucking football player just to show everyone We ain't just surfer dudes and shit all like you ranchers to dog yeah surfers dudes yeah so everyone thinks you're from California you're a surfer dude yeah he actually represents football players he is a state of California he's you know he was all-state basketball I think he was all-state basketball and did you ever seen him shoot me neither what did
Starting point is 00:55:03 you know this fun fact as well because we already talking about him earlier on the show Derek Carr he blocked for him at Fresno State yeah his brother Derek oh he blocked for his brother David oh he's lost over a big car for Houston all right okay okay I thought it was Derek for some reason all right but it was David Carr I get that confused you know because they both went to you know Fresno State they both are first round you know, Fresno State. They both are first round, you know, quarterbacks. So that was just cool. Fun fact that I was bringing up. What do you got any Logan stories?
Starting point is 00:55:33 You know, I don't really have any Logan making stories off top of my head. I mean, besides the obvious, just how good of a football player he was, just the, you know, farmer's strength that he had that he brought to the table, his leadership, how you felt safe around him. But Logan Mankins always has a story about me whenever I'm around him. I just never have a story about him.
Starting point is 00:55:57 So I actually wish Logan Mankins was here right now so he could tell a story about me and we can hear from Logan, you know ourselves But one cool story I do have is after Well, this is actually I'm gonna tell a for the good story first and then the sad story after is that The cool story was is that after every game home game? He'd be out in the parking lot just sit in there sipping a beer You know players parking lot players parking lot drinking In the players parking lot. Drinking beers.
Starting point is 00:56:25 And I just thought it was so cool after a one o'clock game. It's 4 35 o'clock and I'm going out to my car and I just pop open a beer with Logan Mankins and I just felt like Felt like a man. A man. You're right. I just felt cool. You know just sitting there having one beer just sit there there for 10 minutes, have a con, have a conversation about life, you know, possibly, you know, what happened in the game, drink the beer, and then just go along with my day after the game and my night and, uh, and go home. And then, uh, I'll always remember that, you know, cause I always started that always started my night you know that
Starting point is 00:57:06 was the pregame was in the parking lot Logan that was the pregame pregame pregame so Logan always kicked off the pregame pregame pregame when I was like 22 years old and he was always so welcoming oh you know as a veteran and this guy that I looked up to I mean not many players are like oh young buck come and hang out you know he was such a good guy and so lovable they become hang out grunk, you know And he just make you feel so welcomed And then the sad story about him is I still remember to this day when he got traded to Tampa Bay Buccaneers and like when that happened it was one of the most shocking
Starting point is 00:57:43 Things I've ever seen happen in the NFL and that's when I learned that the NFL is a business. Yeah. And not just a business can be a dirty business as well because Logan Mankins was on that pedestal of he's the greatest one of the greatest tackle you know guards to play for New England Pages. Everyone looked up to him. Great guy, family man, doesn't do anything wrong, works his butt off, you know, will kill a guy out there on the field for you. Doesn't miss football games.
Starting point is 00:58:10 Doesn't miss games, played every single game, which is just tenacious, like you said. Tenacious. Yeah, and but, and then he got traded, and I saw those tears in his eyes when he got traded, and it, you know, brought tears to my eyes eyes and it made me feel really weird that day at practice Yeah, that you know, this is truly a business that was I think everyone remembers that practice I mean we had remember we all came up after we did and
Starting point is 00:58:39 It was like holy shit. We just got rid of our best lineman. Yeah, everyone came together You know everyone did you know? It was like, holy shit, we just got rid of our best linemen. Yeah, everyone came together. You know, everyone did. You know, it wasn't like, you know, some slap dick in a tree. And everyone's like, yo, glad he got traded. Oh, this is like, oh, but like we lost. We like we lost one of our guys. Yeah, we did.
Starting point is 00:58:56 We just probably lost similar to the lawyer. Malloy trade. We lost a locker room presence that everyone looked up to. You know, we lost a leader and everyone felt it when that trade went down. But I agree with you. That was the, that was one of the first moments that in the Randy Moss trade, we were like, this is a business. Those were like two trades that you're like, Oh shit, this is this football shit. This is real. You know, when we said he didn't miss a game,
Starting point is 00:59:24 he played with the torn ACL all year. I think he toured in like the last, I remember, what was that season? I think it was- He played the entire 2011 season with torn ACL. The guy was, he would wake up at 5 a.m. before the snows, shovel his fucking whole cul-de-sac and like plow his cul-de-sac and then come into work with a torn ACL and then go perform like nothing's
Starting point is 00:59:55 wrong. He wore the same thing every day. The Carhartt jacket, his fucking Carhartt hat, jeans, his work boots. He's just a fucking man. Mm-hmm He's honestly I think I think he he could be from the lineage of Chuck Norris I think he's got Chuck Norris in his blood. He does he does I like that comparison right there
Starting point is 01:00:22 He really Really might have Chuck Norris's bloodline. Who else is in Chuck Norris's bloodline? From the- Lineage. Patriots area? Yeah, who's got a little Chuck Norris in him? That lineman that was not a UFC fighter, but he was a wrestler, O'Neal.
Starting point is 01:00:40 O'Neal, Steve O'Neal. Steve O'Neal. Oh, that guy was a savage man. Yeah, dude He ever was a dog. He didn't have shoulders for like two years like he literally like we were watching in the pregame the trainers would have to like zip his shoulders in and Like he couldn't move use them and like he didn't have an Emmy. He didn't fuck up one play He could barely move his shoulders
Starting point is 01:01:05 He just go drink a four local after the game and get wild It's amazing how these offensive linemen can have so many injuries and they play in these games and play the whole year And you don't even know that they don't even have these injuries as well I mean, you know how hard it is for a skill player to play through an injury because you're just trying to drive so much Force and you got to run at such a speed. I mean it's it's really hard to do that as a skill player but it's a little bit easier as an offense alignment because you don't have to have that speed that you know there's a lot of stress there is in but it's just incredible that they still do it without a doubt like it's
Starting point is 01:01:47 you know how much they got to be compensating like a muscle group like you have a blown out knee or blown out shoulder and you're just compensating your whole body to develop that force that you need to block the guy in front of you it's amazing just how smart they are as players to be able to do that especially a guy like Logan Mancans or even Steve O'Neill situation when talking It's amazing just how smart they are as players to be able to do that Especially a guy like Logan Mancans or even Steve O'Neal situation when talking about he didn't even have shoulders And he was going out there just blocking fools left and right I remember there was those rumors that we were gonna trade him trade for him back member. Mm-hmm There's how we happened. I know me too. I wish we got to have
Starting point is 01:02:23 Manx that was the craziest thing man We had we had some really good linemen and he was at the top of some of those those who would you say is on? The Patriots rush more now rush once alignments Mount Rushmore. You know, it's alignment for the New England Patriots because I That'd be tough for me to call because we didn't I didn't know the guys before us We'll just put two at the top right now that are that I guarantee Matt light and Logan making any I mean you could yeah I would say those two are From who I played with mm-hmm man time
Starting point is 01:02:58 What kind of dude is Logan Mancans now? I mean he he's a stud anytime you're you're coming from Fresno State in the whack first team all state and Then get drafted in the first round the National Football League as a tackle transfer to guard played a bunch of tackle when we needed Them to we used to do that Logan remember that Like kind of what they did with Tooney and the Chiefs this year You could say that he's a stud you You could say that he's a dog. But I'm thinking, though, he's a dude's dude as well.
Starting point is 01:03:29 Definitely a dude. I mean, he's a whiz. He's basically everything. He's every category here. But we got to stamp him as one. And on three, one, two, three freak. And because he's all of them, he's a fucking freak. I mean, you play on a torn ACL and it wasn't like he was just sitting there. This guy was like
Starting point is 01:03:47 our pulling guard. He was running. All right. So he's never missed a game due to an injury, even though he's been disabled while playing that. That's freaky. That's some freaky stuff right there. That's freaky. And just how strong he is. He's a country freak, Joel. He's country strong. He is the definition of corn fed strong, like big ass hands, freaking Wolverine healing abilities.
Starting point is 01:04:20 First team all state in basketball. Never seen him shoot a basketball, but it's in California, So there's fucking good basketball Like I mean Jesus Christ Logan manganese and he's got Chuck Norris lineage. Yeah, he's a freak. I think he's got Chuck Norris blood Shout out which one is he case? Oh, where's let me see him. Look at fucking case. Oh, yeah fuck Case mangan's defense of is every university of Rhode Island. He there's another there's a couple of little boys.
Starting point is 01:04:49 There's a couple of girls. Those little boys are they were they used to beat the shit out of each other. I'm talking I would sit there at Thanksgiving watching those boys. We'd have game on. I just watched these guys. They were slugging each other. I'm like, damn, they're going to be tough. And that's why he's a fucking freak. He is a freak. He's a freak of a dad. Haley played softball Bentley. Yeah. I remember. She has really good.
Starting point is 01:05:14 He has a freak of a family. This guy's just a freak overall. He's a freak, man. He is love them. And, and Jules, before we get going, I got a question to ask you, what was the best dish that you ever had at a Lyman Thanksgiving? Whoa, whoa, you know, this is gonna be very hard because Dan Conley. Mm-hmm. This was like a potluck We'd everyone would bring shit Dan Conley used to make things from scratch This guy made homemade marshmallows for the fucking hot chocolate homemade hot chocolate He made a homemade marshmallow once. And they were spectacular.
Starting point is 01:05:48 It was the best fucking hot chocolate and marshmallow I ever had. And it was after the turkey dinner around the campfire, of course, while Lyman drank beer. I was drinking hot cocoa with the kids. I'd have to say he made some, Dan Conley used to make some really good stuffing. I think his brother is a chef and now he he made beer. He made the beer we were drinking. He
Starting point is 01:06:12 had a gastro pub in the fucking in the garage. I mean, it's crazy. I would say Dan Conley anything he made spectacular. He did every style turkey. He would fry one, smoke one, bake one, barbecue one. This guy was Betsy fucking Crocker in there. So I'm going with that stuff. You better watch out. The Mancos might be coming for you. Well, the Mancos, they always had good shit too.
Starting point is 01:06:38 Nope. But you didn't rank it as the best. I'm going down over the Mancos. I think you better watch your back. I know a car might be going to ask. We'll be right back after this quick break. I found out I was related to the guy that I was dating. I don't feel emotions correctly.
Starting point is 01:06:54 I am talking to a felon right now and I cannot decide if I like him or not. Those were some callers from my call-in podcast, Therapy Gecko. It's a show where I take real phone calls from anonymous strangers all over the world as a fake gecko therapist and try to dig into their brains and learn a little bit about their lives. I know that's a weird concept, but I promise it's pretty interesting if you give it a shot.
Starting point is 01:07:19 Matter of fact, here's a few more examples of the kinds of calls we get on this show. I live with my boyfriend, and found his piss jar in our apartment. I collect my roommates toenails and fingernails. I have very overbearing parents. Even at the age of 29, they won't let me move out of their house. So if you want an excuse to get out of your own head and see what's going on in someone else's head, search for therapy gecko on the iHeartRadio app,

Starting point is 01:09:22 for Sex and the City the very first time. He said he wrote this like I was in his head in some way, which I found really interesting. And does she think Carrie is too good for Mr. Big? She had inexplicable feelings. It is the human being that can't explain to her friends why somebody that might be beneath her is dictating the hunt.
Starting point is 01:09:42 You can't miss this. Listen to Are You a Charlotte? on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. What happens when we come face to face with death? My truck was blown up by a 20 pound anti-tank mine. My parachute did not deploy. I was kidnapped by a drug cartel. I just remember everything getting dark.
Starting point is 01:10:06 I'm dying. We step beyond the edge of what we know. To open our consciousness to something more than just what's in that Western box. And return. I clinically died. The heart stopped beating, which I was dead for 11.5 minutes. My name is Dan Bush. My mission is simple. To find, explore,
Starting point is 01:10:26 and share these stories. I'm not a victim, I'm a survivor. You're strongest when you're the most vulnerable. To remind us what it means to be alive. Not just that I was the guy that cut his arm off, but I'm the guy who is smiling when he cut his arm off. Alive Again, a podcast about the fragility of life, the strength of the human spirit,

It's time for another edition of soul searching Soul searching. All right. I'm going skiing on those blue mountains one day actually tubing I prefer
Starting point is 01:11:36 Skiing would be tough. You gotta be a pro to you know, ski those mountains, but is it pretty anyone? That's a jagged mountain anyone can tube down the any mountain you got to pick your mind I'm gonna be alive when I'm done, but I'm doing is that I wonder I wonder what mountain they use the mountain range on The course can or is this a is this a fucking computer generated one? That's got to be a real Colorado rocky What tip is that what's that mount? Wilson peak Well said cast away Great movie. All right, if you were cam ward Wilson peak Castaway Great movie. All right, if you were cam ward and you got drafted number one overall to the
Starting point is 01:12:13 Tennessee Titans, what would you do? Well, first off isn't he wearing the number one? Which was Warren moon's number right, yeah, and Was that number retired and Warren Moon? Gave him permission to wear it. I think that's the case. Well first off I would want to make Warren Moon proud of Him for letting me for letting him wear number one, that's a dude's dude move right there I would watch old Warren Moon highlights
Starting point is 01:12:49 right off the bat. Just Warren Moon. Just Warren Moon, cause I'm wearing his number, it's retired. I'd watch all his highlights and the very first touchdown that I throw or score rushing, I would do the most signature Warren Moon touchdown celebration dance or whatever it was gotta hit the YouTube archives for that
Starting point is 01:13:12 one yep so that's what I would do if I was Ken more if you were if I was that probably just buy an f-150 maybe a stenson cowboy hat and some boots and you know do the whole Nashville thing it's pretty country mm-hmm but I wouldn't want to hang out on Broadway too much my god might be too Nashville it's a great city I've heard it's a fun city popping popping I can tell you this Jules don't go there you graduated all right you graduated from Vegas you graduated from Miami you don't need to go to Nashville now brother. What do I go now?
Starting point is 01:13:48 I'll beat that no you go to a piece if you're going to be some bring me actually you see You're allowed at a visa if you bring me But you need to go to a beach Any beaches? Yeah with an ocean well far away from Broadway no You go call me With an ocean well far away from Broadway. Oh Go call me All right, if you were Pope Leo the 14th, what would you do Jules? Pope Leo the 14th believe he is a bears fan. Is you the Bears fan? Yeah
Starting point is 01:14:26 Chicago Chicago he's from Polk, Ohio Is a White Sox fan man with the what would I do? We went to Villanova went to Villanova Ross been drawn Ross been thrown above in tr Ventrone, the whole Ventrones. What would I do? I would probably, if I was the Pope, I'd probably give Billy O'Brien a call. Hold on.
Starting point is 01:14:58 Because I remember once I asked, since Boston College is a Catholic University, how come the Pope isn't sending Billy O'Brien NIL money? Shouldn't there be a fun point and Billy O'Brien deserves it? Yeah. Great coach trying to lead a program. There should be a feeder to the Catholic schools. Notre Dame, Boston College, a few others that I don't know. But
Starting point is 01:15:30 there's gotta be some kinda, I mean, there's a lot of money in that Roman Catholic Church and we've all seen Conclave and we've seen the Da Vinci Code. We know there's money to be spent. So, maybe, maybe throw it out to get BC. I'd call Billy O'Brien, maybe say, hey buddy. He's a sports fan. The Pope is a sports fan. It's the first American Pope. I like the idea.
Starting point is 01:15:54 I like that situation. If I was the Pope, I would pray. And I would pray for Caleb Williams. And I would pray for Caleb Williams Yep that's It's pretty good. And then I would pray again. I want to just
Starting point is 01:16:12 Pray for Caleb Williams. I pray for the Bears organization. Do you think do you think the Pope? This Pope right here has already said a prayer This pope right here has already said a prayer For the Chicago Bears and I mean he's he's probably you know giving out a couple prayers ever since he got the call Definitely the white socks Definitely he's been seen out of World Series before What year was that? long ago 2005 2005
Starting point is 01:16:43 Almost 20 actually 20 years ago as a guy's a fool fans guys a legend So he's not really great for they win that game for the white Sox Did they win the game? because maybe maybe they should maybe maybe the Chicago Bears if The Pope if the Pope's at the game the Bears are gonna win. Oh That it looks like they won that game game one World Series. Yeah. Oh
Starting point is 01:17:08 He they swept the series after he went. Mm-hmm. So if I'm the Chicago Bears, I'm calling the Pope I'm saying hey Yo, we got we got the Pope mobile. We got the Pope mobile, you know He has a special car with like the thing they have a popemobile you never seen it Put up bring up a popemobile. I never seen the popemobile. Give me the popemobile. It's fucking crazy I saw that a museum once look at the popemobile now. They would that's the popemobile, bro How sweet is that oh, it's sweet he can't get shot or anything The popemobile is cruising and you see you see what's driving them. That's American made right there, buddy That's a that's a that's a Jeep as Chrysler. I think one of the big trees
Starting point is 01:17:50 There's also a Mercedes was made so you can sell you can just wait to everyone while you're cruising in the pulp mobile Do you think because he's an American Pope that like he'll have a Tesla? Pope mobile now. I'm not sure Jules. What would the grunk mobile look like? Well, there was already a grunk mobile Jules It was the party bus that I used to have and there was a pole in the middle There was loud speakers and we just shoved a lot of people in it as many people as possible I remember you got that the grunk mobile and you wrapped it It had like a what did it have on the side of it a body armor? Yeah
Starting point is 01:18:23 Body armor with you on it though, right? No, no, I wasn't there go out mobile. Oh my god I remember we took that thing once to a Red Sox game and people saw Gronk was in there and they were shaking it Like he was the goddamn Pope They were shaking it like a little girl Couple bras came up nuts couple dozens now
Starting point is 01:18:47 There is wasn't appropriate. What do you think the Sunday ticket? You know situation is at the Vatican if I'm the Pope Honestly, the Sunday ticket doesn't work anywhere, but the United States It's fucking bullshit because I try to use my goddamn YouTube TV in Canada. It wouldn't work So I mean, you know, the Pope's probably got a line to the NFL. Dude, they got the best everything. Like I want to go if I want to go and like see like the president cool shit is like, you know, you go like the back like you press a button and go behind walls and shit. Like that's all
Starting point is 01:19:22 like kindergarten compared to the Pope. Like the Pope has like crazy shit where like, it looks like Star Wars probably. You go down, you press a button, and you go down an elevator that goes like 30 floors into the earth, and then there's like giant fucking buildings underground that the Pope is fucking doing. Like the Pope has got some crazy shit.
Starting point is 01:19:43 Well, if I was the Pope Pope I'd move church to Saturdays so we can watch guilt free football on Sundays It's a good. That's good. It's a good one right there That's why I'm not the Pope Well, that was the chillest dude a week Thanks to our favorite beer Coors Light. Get Coors Light delivered straight to your door.
