Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal but encouraged.
It's the enhanced games.
Some call it grotesque.
Others say it's unleashing human potential.
Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all,
embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year.
Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds.
I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth.

After five long years, we all gathered under one roof.
To roast a goat live on Netflix.
This is the roast of Tom Brady.
Welcome to Games with Names. I'm Julian. They're Jack and Kyler.
We're on a mission to finding the greatest game of all time.
And on today's episode, we don't have a game.
We got a roast with the grand roast master general of all time.
Jeff Ross.
And if you haven't already, drop a like and a subscribe to Games with Names.
Let's go.
Games with Names is a production of IHeart Radio.
Welcome to Games with Names.
Today, we are looking at the,
The roast of Tom Brady.
The roast of Tom Brady.
It is a game, folks, with the Grand Marshal Roast Master of all time.
Jeff Ross.
Joe.
Jeff, in one sentence.
Why did you pick this roast?
Well, I've done a lot of roast.
And it's always hard for me to say what my favorite is.
Like children.
And it's, I don't have that problem.
And I always like Tom Brady, when people go,
what's your favorite roast?
I always go the next one.
When they ask him about rings,
Super Bowl rings,
he always says the next one's my favorite.
I'm like that with roast.
So the next one's my favorite, Kevin Hart, I guess.
Oh.
But having to pick one for this show for games with names,
I picked the Tom Rose because a lot of reasons and we'll go through them
over the show. But the main reason is it brought comedy back. It ended the woke period in America.
I think it recalibrated people's senses of humor. Jokes that weren't okay are okay again. It's okay to laugh.
Everyone got the stick out of their ass. Everybody's laughing. And Tom Brady should have gotten the
freaking Nobel Peace Prize for taking those hits for three hours so we could all forget our own problems.
1,000%
I think we should send them over to Iran.
Maybe you get a little peace talk going.
Yeah, I like that idea.
Roasting heels.
Roasting, it really does.
Look what it did for you guys.
You, gronk, the coach, the owner,
everybody was in the same room.
All the ice melted.
Everybody hugged.
Everybody did a shot.
Everybody partied together.
Now you guys are doing freaking Dunkin' Donuts commercials together
and whatever else.
I think it's off on the roast.
1,000 percent.
I mean, it was like a therapy session through comedy.
Yeah.
You know, it allowed us all to kind of air our grievances of what we all thought about everyone.
Not really thought, but like air the grievances of the awkward shit that was in the room.
Brutal honesty.
I mean, that's the big.
Communication is great for relationships, right?
So why wouldn't it be great for these relationships?
And that's the locker room, Jeff.
Yeah.
And that's what the locker room is.
So it was really fun for the athletes to get involved
because there's no hiding in the locker room.
There is zero hiding in the locker room.
I'm so glad you said this, because by coincidence,
I was on the phone with Tom Brady this morning.
I told him I was coming here.
And we were reminiscing about his roast.
And he's like, the thing that I missed the most was the locker room talk,
the smack talk, all the shit we would say out loud that you couldn't say in real life.
You can say it in the locker room and you can say it on that roast.
So I think it hits a nerve with you athletes.
Yeah.
Like it's like it's like an unleashes something.
Well, and it unleashes what we're used to.
It's that safe space that we all crave just because once you're in there,
it doesn't matter if you're Tom Brady or you're number 53 on the team
if your fucking fly is down or you got some toilet paper hanging out your back
fucking you're getting let known yeah you're getting fucking made fun of
and everyone is laughing and making fun of you for it yeah and no one gets hurt over it
it's especially for me I can't let the jokes hurt like I'd be a hypocrite I mean
they hurt but yeah you can't get offended no no no
like when yeah we'll talk about that but uh talking about locker room were you ever in a locker room
do you play any sports i played football in high school i was a center for the jonathan dayton
regional high school bulldogs i was a punt center and a center center i'm pretty i still have a
pretty good snap do you punt snap punt snap yeah long snapper long snapper long snapper long snapper now
when did you know long snapper was also my poor name in college that'd be you always on
He's always on.
Now, when you, when you.
How did you go from being a Super Bowl champion and dressing like a tennis coach?
You know, you want to know why I'm dressed like this?
Because immediately after this, I'm going to look at schools for my daughter.
Oh, okay.
So I had to like clean it up and it's going to be a tight window.
So I got to go immediately after this, which, you know, you got any good questions for me to ask these people?
Yeah.
How's the football program?
For a little girl.
We'll take it.
That would be funny if all your questions were about football.
So what kind of grass do we have?
Do we have Bermuda or Kentucky Blue?
Do you run a 4-3 or a 3-4?
Yeah.
No, so yeah, I'm going to interview some schools,
and so I had to dress appropriately.
Okay.
Now, what's your sports fandom?
What does that mean?
So who do you follow?
Well, I grew up in New Jersey.
No.
So New York teams were always big in my life.
I also was a big wrestling fan as a kid, the old school wrestlers.
And now that I live in L.A. and Otani's here.
I can't help but root for the Dodgers when I go.
But the more that I become a citizen of the world,
like I'll go to a soccer game in Manchester, England,
and I got a root for them because the owner is in my box.
I was in Dubai watching basketball,
with the guy who runs sports in Dubai.
So I got to root for them.
Jeff Ross doesn't have rich friends.
Don't worry.
I mean, is that a flex right there?
Oh, no.
I was in Manchester with the owner.
I was in Saudi with another guy.
I love that the owner was in your box,
not the other way around.
Yeah, I guess you're right.
I didn't realize that I was name-dropping like that.
I guess I'm just saying, like, I root for,
I always root for the home team.
I always root for a good game.
Yeah.
I mean, it seems like,
Since this roast, a lot of the comedy space has been ending up at these events.
Yeah.
Like you see, I think we got Netflix festival coming next week here in L.A.
Yeah.
The Masters had a bunch of comics at the Masters for the first time ever, which is crazy.
You're seeing Super Bowl events where like the comedy space is blowing up.
What do you think about it?
I mean, I think the more stressed the world is.
the more comedy rises above and sort of takes care of everybody.
It's like the medicine that everybody can afford.
It's really good for your mental health.
Really good if you're stressed out to laugh.
You don't even realize it's happening.
No.
And it just releases that endorphin of like...
And I think the greatest roast of all time, Tom Brady,
I think that was the injection of all that.
That was the kick off of all that.
Yeah. Now, what are you doing right now? You have the one-man show.
Yeah. And can you explain that? You take a banana on the road? The grandpa, right?
It's called Take a banana for the ride. It just dropped on Netflix. By the way, you don't have to use a banana, Julian. You can use an eggplant, carrot, anything you want.
Okay. And it's a very personal show. It's got some, I actually open with a clip from the Tom Brady roast.
A clit or a clip?
I heard clip.
You have to clean it up
You can't be dirty
Save it for the roast
And it's about
Some of the people who made me who I am
When I lost three buddies
Gilbert Godfried
Bob Sagin and Norm MacDonald
All within eight months
In the end of the pandemic
And that made me look back at my life
And go, how was I dealing with loss
And when I was a young man
My grandfather and my parents died
My parents died when I was young
and I learned a lot about how to bounce back.
You know, I learned early on as human beings were made to mourn and move on.
You can't mourn forever or a part of you dies, and that's not fair.
And I give that to people.
I explain that to people, and it helps them get through whatever they're going through.
And it's full of fucking great jokes.
And it's basically a 90-minute comedy special that I shot at the Niederlander Theater on Broadway.
I did eight shows a week.
At the end, my dog, my German Shepherd comes out,
jumps on the couch and howls with me.
The whole audience howls with us.
It's a very cathartic experience.
And Netflix has been super supportive.
It's kind of cool to have my life story as a Netflix special.
Now, how is that crowd when you're doing a Broadway crowd
compared to when you're doing a crowd at the store or the laugh factor?
Is it a different crowd?
Yeah.
it's a great question Julian because I didn't know what to expect so I'm Broadway the comedy store boom the second you walk out they're ready for it ready but Broadway they would they're so much more judgmental and the expectations are so high that I'll be walking up on stage they stop clapping before I even get up there they're like prove prove you're worth this applause but then when you get them by the end before you even say good night
they leap to their feet, give you a standing ovation.
I got standing oz every night.
So once you win them over, they're the best crowd on Broadway.
And the tickets are expensive.
It's not like a comedy club ticket.
It's like a Broadway show.
So it's longer.
It's more of a meal.
It's a very emotional show.
I talk about, this is my grandfather's ring.
You'll love this.
This is a steel bolt from a Nazi submarine from World War II.
My pop jack was a shipbuilder stationed in Baltimore.
The U.S. Navy captured one Nazi U-boat, the whole war, towed it back to America to learn how to use it.
It changed the whole course of the war.
We were getting our asses kicked.
We figured out how to neutralize those subs and we started winning.
My grandfather pulled a bolt off, handed it down, made a ring, and I wore it.
You know, he wore it his whole life.
He would tap it on stuff for good luck.
And he gave it to me, said, when I'm done with it, you wear it.
I was with him right at the end of his life.
I took care of my grandfather when I was an open mic comedian.
And whenever I need a little bit of that world beater, World War II, tough guy, greatest generation energy, I tap it on something and I think about my pop jack.
Sometimes I think about this chicken Denver.
I finger bang one time.
But mostly I think about my pop jack.
They would have liked each other.
So pop jack in the Navy.
World War II.
I had a grandfather served on the USS, Arizona.
Well, Grandpa.
That's pretty cool.
John Harry Edelman.
The rest of this submarine, where this bolt is from,
since it's the only one the U.S. ever captured,
it's on display at a museum in Chicago.
So I went there right as I was developing,
take a banana for the ride,
and I went there and I took the tour
and I found a bunch of matches for this bolt all over that submarine.
So it's kind of cool to see that.
That's insane.
So he was telling the truth.
It wasn't bullshit.
Yeah.
That's,
That's incredible.
Yeah.
There's a lot of deep, deep stuff in the show.
And it's cathartic.
Like at first I was like, how am I going to do this every night?
It's too emotional digging up these memories, digging up my, I read my parents love letters and stuff.
And when I first tried to do the show, I would leave like all fucked up.
Like I couldn't handle what emotionally.
I get stomach aches.
And then I said, you know what?
What if I make it just a little, a little sillier?
I'm sort of wearing a banana yellow suit.
with like little spots like a banana has on it.
And then it's like a costume.
So then I would do the show in the suit.
And as soon as I was done,
I would take it off in my dressing room
and leave it there and go out to dinner
with my friends or whatever.
I was able to leave the emotions in the theater.
So I had like a real acting breakthrough that way.
Yeah.
It's kind of like the uniform.
Yeah.
You can only wear it in between the lines.
Yes.
Yes.
I love that.
Once you leave,
you still got male.
and family and other shit you have to deal with.
When you come back to that stadium,
you got to put that armor on.
Wow.
So that was my,
that was my armor.
That's awesome.
That was my protection.
That sounds like such an awesome experience.
Just fucking,
let's just do Broadway for eight weeks,
eight shows a week.
I always wanted to be a working New York Broadway actor.
Why?
I grew up in New York.
You know,
when my mom was sick,
my mom had leukemia.
And I was like 12, 13, 14,
my sister's a year younger than me.
My dad would take us on the weekends to visit her.
It was far into New York from Jersey.
And to cheer us up, he would take us to like the Carnegie Deli and a Broadway show.
But all the Broadway shows were about orphans, Annie, Oliver, you know, and like she was dying.
But I love those shows, like the spectacle, a musical, a great story.
And I always wanted to do that kind of show.
but because I'm not a singer and a dancer
and, you know, I had a final way for me to do it.
I saw Jackie Mason, I saw Billy Crystal do one-person shows,
and it inspired me to do that someday.
So now I always wanted that Broadway acting street cred
of doing eight shows a week.
And you got it now.
I got it now, forever.
You've done a lot of shit, man.
And you've pioneered a bunch of stuff.
We're here to talk about the roast, the Brady roast,
but you also have Kevin Hartsrose coming up, I believe, at the end of this week.
Yes.
Mother's Day.
Motherfuckus Day.
Motherfuckus Day.
Now, why do we pick Mother's Day and how excited are you for this?
You think Kevin was like telling his wife, honey, can we make Mother's Day all about me this year?
I'm sure that went well.
Yeah, well, they'll be there.
It's happened.
You know why?
Because it has happened to land on Mother's Day.
It's the last day of the next day of the next day.
Netflix is a joke festival.
And it's kind of the finale of the festival.
The send-off.
Yeah.
Are you except, so what do we expect with this?
Is it going to top the Brady roast?
I think there's a chance of might, Julian.
And I know that's a bold statement.
We haven't, this will be the next roast after, right?
Yeah.
So, I mean, that's always hard.
It's like, my thinking was,
Jack trying to follow me in a drive.
Here's why, here's why I think it tops.
about 100 yards back.
Here's why I think it tops the Brady Roast.
The Brady Roast was so huge.
2.4 billion viewing minutes,
Emmy nominated, won the DGA Award.
The Roast used to be a joke, right?
They were like a cultural moment
that happened every couple of years,
but it never made it to the Emmys.
We were up against the Oscars,
the Super Bowl halftime show,
the Grammy,
and the Tonys.
Those are the biggest brands in television.
Now the roast live is up against the other big...
We lost to the Oscars.
And I'm like, wow, we are no longer a B show.
The roasts are an A show.
It's the format that is the star.
Once Tom did it, now people want to see a roast.
Yeah.
It doesn't even matter who we fucking roast.
People want to see it.
Yeah.
So I think...
And Kevin knows how to market.
He's a really good producer.
So I think there's a chance.
And his takes different.
Now with you guys, it was,
it was gronk.
It was you.
It was craft.
Belichick came out like Darth Vader.
Like, it was like fun.
This is going to be more of a murderer's row of comics.
Philly comics, comics that know Kevin,
that know shit about him.
The way you knew shit about Tom,
these comics know stuff about Kevin.
He's giving breaks to his opening acts,
like stuff like that.
It's going to be pretty vicious.
I mean, I can't wait.
And nothing's off limits.
It's going to be wild.
How about that, though?
I mean, Emmy nominated with the Oscars.
You guys,
you guys also did this on a streamer.
So everyone probably,
you guys are the bad boys.
Yeah.
You guys are the bad boys of TV right now.
No commercials, no censorship, no bleeping.
You can go as long.
as you want.
Which is, it's live.
That's a completely new format, by the way.
Every other Comedy Central roast tape.
Another pioneer.
No, we would tape it and cut out the jokes that didn't work.
Now the jokes that didn't work are fucking all over the internet.
That's great.
It's like, it's the most cutthroat thing ever.
No chill.
Like, you couldn't.
I remember,
I remember getting Tom into this thing and then, you know, then he retired and
unretired.
And then we wanted to wait for the festival.
And then I had to like make the call.
call and go, um, they want to do it live. And I just kind of like said it in between two other
sentences about nothing. So it's live. It's on Sunday. He's like, what? What? No editing. Like,
that's, that's tough. I got to give him credit, man. No, he, it took a lot of balls for him to do
that, especially, you know, where he was at. And there was a lot of material. Let's just say. There was a lot
a fun material that was current at the time.
But here's another reason why it was great for him and why it was the greatest roast of all time.
Made him look normal.
He humanized him.
All those jokes about Giselle, deflateate, whatever else.
He's never going to hear that again.
Ever.
It's over.
It's hacky.
It's done.
So it solved that problem.
If that was a perceived problem.
then that's over with.
Now it's just a recycled joke.
Right.
Buddy, we saw the roast.
Get some new material.
Get some new material, guy.
Yeah.
There's probably plenty of that.
No.
We'll be right back after this quick break.

I don't care which I'm saying.
Yep, that's me, Cliver Taylor the 4th.
You might have seen the skits, the reactions, my journey from basketball to college football,
or my career in sports media.
Well, somewhere along the way, this platform became bigger than I ever imagined.
And now I'm bringing all of that excitement to my brand new podcast, The Clifford Show.
This is a place for raw, unfiltered conversations with some of your favorite athletes, creators,

What the hell does George Bush got?
to do a little kill.
Well, you can find out on the Look Back at it podcast.
I'm Sam J.
And I'm Alex English.
Each episode, we pick a here, unpack what went down, and try to make sense of how we survived it.
Including a recent episode with Mark Lamont Hill waxing all about crack in the 80s.
To be clear, 84 is big to me, not just because of crack.
I'm down to talk about crack on day, but just so you all know.
I mean, at this point, Mark, this is the second episode where we've discussed crack.
So I'm starting to see that there's a through line.
We also have AIDS on the table right now.
Thank you for finishing that sentence.
Yes.
I don't think there's a more important year for black people.
Really?
Yeah.
For me, it's one of the most important years for black people in American history.
Listen to look back at it on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Now, we have to go over some of the old roasts.
I mean, you had Charlie Sheen on.
What's one?
thought to the Charlie Sheen roast.
The Charlie Sheen roast is one of my favorites
because Charlie and I
had been on the road together.
He was, I didn't know
him, but he was like
flaming out on the road. He was like
going through some shit. And
he had a show that he was doing.
He was like, the hell was it called?
Three and a half men.
No, it had some crazy
name. Was Torpedo of Truth Tour?
Oh, right? It was like winning
and Tiger Blood. That was right.
after the Brian Wilson shit.
I'm winning.
Yeah, 2011.
My violent torpedo of truth slash defeat is not an option.
Tor.
He was bombing.
A little wordy.
Every time you have a slash in a title.
So he's like, Jeff, you know, a couple of people mentioned me to him.
So he called me one night.
And he said, can you get on a plane tomorrow morning and show up at my show in Atlantic City
and just come out and roast me when I start bombing?
I go, okay, I need a hazmat suit at a podium.
And when I make like, there's a bomb suit.
scare and I come out I wrote some jokes on the plane I did like five six minutes and it went really
well he says can you do tomorrow in philly then I do that he's like can you do detroit next
weekend but we do wind up doing eight shows so every city I had more and more charlie sheen jokes
because it was like you know there was a lot of material then too and he was like everybody you know
everybody was accusing him of being a crackhead and all this I was like his life was bad oh yeah
I said, Charlie, if you're winning, something's wrong with the scoreboard.
A lot of jokes.
A lot of good jokes.
But then when we finally got, so after a few of those, I was like, why don't we just do this on Comedy Central?
And he's like, great.
And we did it on Comedy Central.
And Mike Tyson was on it.
And it was like a pretty broie roast.
And I realized I was going to be sitting between Charlie Sheen, who was like this infamous.
character now in Mike Tyson.
So I dress like
Gaddafi.
Gaddafi was like in
hiding, like his government
crumbled in Libya. Nobody knew
where he was. So I was just like, let me just come out as
Gaddafi. I looked just like him.
So that was one of my,
that was a, you love a good
costume. Oh yeah. I got a good
surprise coming for next week. We have a good
surprise? Yeah. What
about Alec Baldwin? How
was that a roast?
Alec Baldwin was a good one
That was like the last one
Before the pandemic I think
And he was a good sport
And Alec Baldwin
Rost now would be a lot better
For reasons that you can Google
But
I remember it being fine
You know what
It got super real
Like the comics were funny
Robert De Niro was there
Ken Jong was there
Caitlin Jenner was there
So there was a lot of fun celebrity jokes.
But the highlight for me was his daughter.
His daughter roasted him.
So imagine your worst nightmare.
Like his like somewhat estranged daughter,
his daughter with Kim Basinger.
And the voicemail.
Yeah.
And she killed it.
And I said,
and I asked him after,
he's my neighbor in New York.
And he said,
that roast was great.
But my daughter,
that's the one that stung.
What about David?
Haselhoff.
Hasselhoff was fun because I didn't want to do it.
So when you don't care, I was like, you know, sometimes like I'm on in these meetings.
Why don't you want to do David Hasselhoff?
I'll tell you.
I'm in the development of these roasts.
So every week we have calls going, who should we get?
Sometimes the calls are incoming, you know, people want to be roasted.
They're not always the person you want.
So then they go, all right, we're locking in David Hasselhoff.
And I'm like, you know, I guess it's better than not having a roast.
roast.
So I call my buddy, I mentioned it to John Mayer, who's a good buddy of mine.
And he's like, dude, don't stress it.
He goes, sometimes I don't want to play the hits, but you got to kind of do with the audience.
And the audience is going to love seeing you rip into David Haslow.
Yeah.
So we got Seth McFarland to emce it.
And the jokes can be, when you don't really, look, David Hasol, very nice.
nice guy, but he wasn't my favorite actor. I wasn't like a super fan. Yeah. So it allowed me to go in hard.
Deep. Yes. Yeah. You know, he had that show about a night rider. Oh, yeah. I go, what's the odds of an alcoholic would
create a show about a car that drives itself? Seth McFarlane told me that was his favorite joke.
I came out in like a fucking speedo or something, if I recall. Oh, yeah, with the leather jacket? Yeah.
Oh, there it is.
Yeah.
Oh, see the white.
So my...
Did you have your appendix taken out?
No.
What that is is my jokes.
I go, you guys want to hear some dick jokes?
And I reach into my crotch and I pulled out, I pulled out my jokes.
Dude, I remember when...
Oh, my God.
Another great roast, Bieber.
Beaver almost started crying.
That was a big roast.
Back in the day, wasn't it?
Yeah, it was huge.
You know what?
That was an incoming call.
Really?
Very rare.
Big star.
Incoming call.
Oh my God.
I trust like the Pope.
That's an all-timer.
Yeah.
Incoming call.
What was your favorite about that one?
Bieber and his manager at the time, Scooter Braun.
They were like, we have this massive album coming out.
Like he hadn't really had a hit in a while.
He was going through some like young guy shit with like,
crashing a Ferrari and doing like some immature shit.
But he had this grown up album in the chamber.
So they were like, how do we put all the past behind us?
And kind of just reset our life and a roast.
So it was their idea.
So that was big.
That was big because Kevin Hart hosted it.
I talked to Pete Davidson yesterday.
he's like, he's like, I can't believe it's been over a decade since that Bieber rolls.
It's crazy.
And I saw Justin at the fanatics football event.
And Justin, every time he sees me, he hugs me and says that roast saved my career.
Thank you.
Man.
How he's taking over Coachella, man.
How he's Justin Chella.
Yeah, it's crazy.
Yeah.
Now, who's someone in history that may not be alive that you would love to roast?
Oh, my God.
dude stevie wonder would be my top of my list
the Netflix roast of stevie wonder
you gotta hear it to believe it
no one would see that coming
oh man
are you a stevie wonder's sight truther
you think he can see
Stephen A is
listen to me
this is compelling evidence
listen to me
I've roasted every type of person
in my Netflix special
that's out now, I roast a guy with no hands.
He lost him in a fire.
Like, I can roast anyone, right?
I said to the guy like,
and give it up for his wife, poor woman's never been finger bang.
My second finger bang joke of the night.
Nice.
Two for two.
So I can roast anyone.
But I've never roasted a blind person.
And Stevie's like a hero to mine.
The way he talks about life and civil rights,
and I've seen him talk about comedy.
He's funny.
So to me, for whatever reason, Stevie Wonder would be a good one.
Stevie Wonder.
What a cool.
It's a great answer.
Great pull.
Yeah.
Wow.
This guy just has, you just have things floating in your brain all day.
Yeah.
I can't help it.
Well, especially right now, you're catching me a week before the Tom Brady rose.
So, like, I'm in full roast mode.
I'm not calling anybody back.
I'm not thinking about it.
I'm just in this right now.
Like, I got all.
all my jokes with me.
Like, I'm, I'm like, this is like, you heard of method acting?
This is like method roasting.
I have to fucking tie myself to a chair and watch all Kevin Hart's shitty fucking movies.
I got to read all these fucking interviews that he does and he's on Instagram,
working out.
You know, it's like, he's like, arm day, leg day.
I'm like, when is script day?
These movies are terrible.
Oh, no.
Night school, watching night school on.
hasn't had a hit movie since 2019.
Usually we try to roast someone at the height of their fame,
but height isn't really Kevin's thing.
A little preview.
Let's go, baby.
Kevin Hartflies private.
What a waste of leg room?
What's your favorite roast set of all time?
Mine?
Or anyone's?
Anyone's.
Oh, wow.
Who had the best roast set?
This is definitely something for your fans to Google,
but look up to Gilbert.
Godfrey roasts he roasted rosan he roasted Hugh Hefner like Gilbert Godfrey's roast sets are like blazing see heads going up like Gilbert's roasts were he didn't have I have friends like I'm in show business Gilbert didn't care who he offended you couldn't fire him you couldn't he didn't care like I have to hold back so
sometimes I'm like, oh, I talk time into this.
Maybe I shouldn't say this joke.
Like I have to like, have a conscience.
Gilbert didn't give a fuck.
It's like a suicide bomber.
Yeah.
They don't care about life.
Right, right.
He's just going, he's just ready to go into it.
So Gilbert's one of my favorites.
I love Anthony Jezzelnack on the Trump roast.
I love Lisa Lamp and Ellie on the Flaventave Roast.
Classic.
My roast of Emmett Smith and Shaq on YouTube is pretty great.
I was watching that this week. Unbelievable.
The Shaq Knuckles joke, unreal.
I just did Shaq podcast and we broke down that one because, like, you can't even do those jokes anymore.
Oh, no.
Shaq, your knuckles look scraped.
Did you walk here?
I mean, he had this brand new championship ring on, so he held it up and then I landed the joke.
It also helps when you.
you know, when there's 2,000 people and you're the only white dude in the room,
like I definitely had an angle that no one else had.
All right.
I love Norm McDonald's set too.
Oh, yeah.
Norm McDonald said at the Bob Sagitt roast is great.
That one is special.
Norm pretended to be reading the newspaper the entire roast, so he wasn't paying attention.
And then when he went up, he brought up like a farmer's almanac and did like the corniest,
most benign, softest jokes ever.
And it almost was like flip, right?
It was like a jujitsu of the brain,
like anti-roasting.
And it murdered.
Yeah.
God.
It's so crazy.
It's like it's almost,
the roast is kind of like Vine and TikTok.
Oh,
because back in the day,
all TikTok is is Vine.
Vine was,
for a moment and then it disappeared and then it came back as TikTok.
You guys disappeared for like five years.
Then you come back with the streamers.
Now you're TikTok.
The roast brand is just on a whole other level.
It just seems like it's like reinvented itself to a higher level because there was a
thousand of these roasts that I used to watch all the time as a kid.
And now it's like you guys have hit levels like TikTok.
Do you remember what you were watching as a kid?
Yeah.
I remember watching the Beaver shit.
I remember watching Hasselhoff.
I always, I mean, I loved.
Comedy Central because South Park,
I'd watch you guys.
So, like, I remember watching all of them.
I remember when you came up on stage in New York and I was doing like a, at the
private, at Zero Bond, I was just messing around and you came up with some broads and
I roasted you guys.
Yeah, we got roasted.
That was like the first time we ever met.
I think it was a, we were day drinking in the city and I, we would go to Zero
Bond and I'm cool with a guy there that introduces me to Jeff.
Jeff is like smoking a blunt indoors.
Nice.
And he's like, hey, I like your shit.
Come check us out or something like that.
So I go down and I bring the group and we just get roasted for like 30 minutes straight.
It was fucking so fun.
And then it says a lot.
It says a lot about somebody that can get roasted.
It says a lot.
You got to be able to laugh for yourself.
You got to be.
I mean.
Otherwise life is long.
Way too long.
Way too long.
Now let's go.
back. This is a segment. We go back into time
we talk about pop culture around the
game or the roast. This
roast took place on May 5th,
2024. Not
too long ago. Which fun fact, when this
episode comes out, it's May 5th,
2026. To your anniversary. Let's go.
Your anniversary. Wow. Wow.
Number one movie was Fall Guy.
Gosselin. Fortnite by Taylor
Swift. I remember that with Little
Lil, my 9-year-old.
Challenger's doomed to
Kung Fu Panda, all
out in the box office tells you where I think
what we can gather from this so far
is that the roast was the coolest fucking
thing of the year.
Who cares about fucking the fall
guy and Challengers Dune
Part 2, Kung Fu Panda 4?
Well, you probably like Kung Fu.
I mean, you do Kung Fu, don't you?
Yeah, but I didn't get to Panda 4.
Aren't you a black belt?
I am, but I stopped after
David Carradine fucking died.
I didn't watch Kung Fu Panda 4
because I'm a black belt.
Now, who would be a
You become a great football player watching cartoons about football?
It inspired me.
Okay.
All right.
That and the Ninja Turtles.
Alarious.
Now, Kendrick Lamar, Drake, who's better for the roast?
Oh, my God.
Man, you know what?
I'll just say this.
I write to Drake every few months.
And he's always like, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
And then he never does it.
Drake would be the biggest roast ever.
Oh, me, huge.
and he's funny.
Very funny.
And the shit that Kendrick said about him, that's like bullshit.
There's so much more to roast about Drake.
It's like half white, half Jewish.
He's like a child star.
His music is like for chicks.
Like there's this so much with Drake that would be so funny.
What about Kendrick?
I don't know if Kendrick's got that kind of personality.
What do you think?
I don't think so.
He's too serious.
Yeah.
You might get in a beef.
You know, Kendrick's like a rapper, but Drake is like an entertainer.
Yeah.
That's why I like Drake.
Now, would Drake get mad hearing that, or does he understand that?
I say it as a compliment.
Yeah.
Drake's got a good sense of humor, too.
Drake, even with all...
Drake is funny.
I love...
Even with all the beefs.
And by the way, Drake's a huge Rose fan.
And my bumping mic show on Netflix, he always tells me how much he loves it.
He loves Sarah Somerman.
He loves comedy.
I just think Drake would be a great roast because I think his rebuttal would be seething.
He would end all the bullshit with Kendrick.
And we'd do it in Toronto where he's at home and...
I think we need to get this going.
Oh, let's do it.
Iceman's coming out, May 15th.
Let's go.
Drake roast would be so big.
Now, what were you doing in 2024 other than this roast?
I was doing the early versions of my one-man.
show, Take a Banana for the ride.
I was touring it.
Three days after the roast, I had one
at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery.
There's a theater there, and Kevin
Hart gave me so much shit about it. He's like,
that proves your career is dead.
We saw Samarrell there.
Yeah. Yeah. So I was
working on Take a Banana for the ride. So
since this roast, that show
went from a cemetery to Broadway
to Netflix. Let's go.
Out of bad trajectory. Jeez, man.
Anything you do, Jeff, looks like it just up.
to the right. And that whole year, the whole two years, Kevin also said I look sicker and sicker
every time he looks at me. That was one of his roast jokes on me. And it made me paranoid. So I went
to get a colonoscopy. And I had saved my life. You liked it. I loved it. Diddy was there.
I don't remember everything. But I never got a bill. But I'm just telling if I didn't go get a
colonoscopy, I'd be dead right now. So shout out to the colonoscopies. And shout up to
Kevin Hart for saving my life.
The joke.
Roasting saves lives.
Roasting saves lives.
See, there you go.
It does.
Let's go, Jackie.
What's the lead up to this roast?
No, I'm just glad.
That's fucking sake, Jeff.
I love these stats, guys.
All right, we got to lead this thing up.
It started, Jeff, you were hounding Tom for like years and years leading up to this
because it was the retirement in 2022 of February.
Then he unretires in March 2022.
But then in May 2022, it kind of gets out that he's, Tom's,
rumored to be the next roastee on the Netflix roast.
Then February 2023 says he's retired for good.
Wow.
And the whole time you guys were like,
take us through that,
right, Jeff?
Take us through the planning.
Talk about holding on to a whale, man.
I got to give myself some credit on this one.
We got a big one.
All right.
Here's what happened.
I don't know how much of this people know,
but you guys are,
you guys will get it.
But Tom.
What was that?
that last Super Bowly one?
Tampa. What year?
2021.
Okay. So I'm looking at my Instagram. You can see who looks at your Instagram stories.
Super Bowl Sunday.
Hours before the game, I notice he's, I'm making football jokes and he's looking at it.
So I clocked that. I go, okay, Tom Brady loves Rose.
and that's what he does to chill before a big game.
Right?
He's just laughing.
Stress relief.
I clocked that.
Doom scrolling?
No, I don't know.
I made a joke about him and Gronk or something and he caught it.
And I happened to see that he caught it.
I was like, Super Bowl Sunday.
This guy's playing a Super Bowl.
He's looking at my shit.
I go, if he wins, I'm going to write him.
Because that means he's probably going to retire.
and I'm
he would be
the greatest roast of all.
You're a great white buffalo.
And he wins.
So I write to him.
He writes me back right away.
Let's fucking go.
I didn't know he wanted to like end woke
fucking the,
wokeness.
Like I just hit the right guy.
And I never do this,
by the way.
I don't like sell the roast to people.
I've never done this before,
but come over here.
I swear.
I swear I've never done this before.
How many times you hear of that.
So he's like, so he's like in.
And he's like my partner.
Bring in Casey Patterson.
We make up a pitch.
We all pitch it to Netflix.
Then he untretired.
He'd go into a divorce.
We announced the roast.
Then we're like, oh, you know what?
Can we hold on to him for another bunch of months and do it at the festival?
Because that way the comics,
everyone's in town anyway
and we can really do something special
and Netflix is like we want to get into the live business
can you talk about doing it live
I go no but I could just tell him we're doing a life
if I have to ask him
I think if we're just doing it that's what it is
he'll understand that that's going to be good for him
and that it's going to be bigger
better to ask for for you as than probably
it's not even that it's like he understands big
and winning and that's the winning
that's the most courageous way to do it
And it also, like, the numbers were insane.
So it took a few years.
And then when was the actual date?
24.
May 5th.
May 5th.
2024?
So this was a two-year, over two-year adventure.
This was a two-year adventure.
Shout out to Instagram stories.
That Instagram story feature, man.
We'll be right back after this quick break.

Do you remember when Diana Ross double-tap Little Kim's boobs at the VMAs?
Or when Kanye said that George Bush didn't like black people.
I know what you're thinking.
What the hell does George Bush got to do with Little Kim?
Well, you can find out on the Look Back at it podcast.
I'm Sam Jek.
And I'm Alex English.
Each episode, we picket here, unpack what went down,
and try to make sense of how we survived it.
Including a recent episode with Mark Lamont Hill,
waxing all about crack in the 80s.
To be clear, 84 is big to me, not just because,
of crack.
I'm down to talk about crack on day, but just so y'all know.
I mean, at this point, Mark, this is the second episode where we've discussed crack.
So I'm starting to see that there's a through line.
We also have AIDS on the table right now.
Then you're finishing that sentence.
Yes.
I don't think there's a more important year for black people.
Really?
Yeah.
For me, it's one of the most important years for black people in American history.
Listen to look back at it on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your
podcasts.
Fucking Instagram.
I should go back and find out what the joke was that I clocked that he was laughing at.
I mean,
that should be in the Comedy Hall of Fame.
Legit.
And when I knew he was really in,
he sent me one of those like iPhone videos to use the pitch at Netflix.
I was like,
here he is.
He's on the pitch.
So I worked out.
It tells you something about him, though,
that he,
you know,
he may have read the room.
Because you look at Tom Brady.
I mean, look at him.
He doesn't look human.
This guy's beautiful.
He's fucking got seven Super Bowls.
But in reality, he's really one of the guys.
And this is the perfect thing to make him feel like one of the other guys.
Right.
Oh, yeah.
Keep us on the lead up, Jack.
All right.
Well, of course, we got a profile.
We profile the teams on this one.
Today we're doing the roasty Tom Brady.
He was 46 at the time of this.
I mean, as we know, played up until he's 45.
seven times Super Bowl champ, five times Super Bowl MVP, three-time NFL.
We got six-two in there.
Six-four, six-chin, chisel jaw, all that.
We know this guy.
Most comeback player, I mean, NFL comeback player, 2009, most wins by a quarterback,
251, all the accolates, the goat, the goat for a reason.
And around this time, he was retired for good.
He said him, for good.
No coming back, no Instagram beach videos, nothing for good.
I think it helped him so.
much. Oh, it's huge.
Which makes me go,
how do we get LeBron
when LeBron retires?
I mean, LeBron, see, because
you got Great White Buffalo,
LeBron has already slated to do it.
I feel. Yeah, I mean.
Because LeBron will do it if, you know what I mean?
I think he's going to do it. We have to make the roast,
the thing that the goats do when they retire.
1,000%. Because it humifies them.
Is that a word?
Humanizes. Humifies.
Humanizes.
It's not a word guy.
You're doing great.
And then, of course, we've got to talk about the Rooster's.
You're a freaking English teacher.
But my math is way worse than his.
He's really good at math.
Oh, man.
We got to talk.
We mentioned earlier tons of teammates in this one.
You had Jules.
You had Grong.
You had Randy Moss.
You had Drew Bledsoe.
The guy Tom Brady replaced.
Of course, you had Peyton Manning out there.
He introduced Brady in this one.
And then comics, of course, a murderer's row.
Jeff, Will Farrell, has Ron.
Burgundy, Nikki Glazer, Andrew Schultz, Seguer and Crescher, Tony Hinchcliffe, Sam J.
And we had some special appearances, some big name celebs, Affleck, Kim Kardashian got up there.
And then, of course, the crowd.
I mean, we could do a whole episode on just who was in the crowd.
This was A-List, baby.
This was A-List.
This was very A-List.
Now, what goes into building the dais?
You know, you try to get the friends.
You try to get friends.
Comfort.
You got to make him comfortable.
And we did the best we could.
Because he didn't know the comics.
He asked for Nikki.
Oh.
Which people don't know.
I didn't know that.
Of course, he was already on my list, but when he asked, I called Tom myself very early on.
And we just talked and I pitched some people and he pitched some people and I still have this piece of paper with names.
And a lot of surprises because I'd pitch certain people you'd think were obvious.
And you'd like, no.
And some of them.
it was interesting.
Is there someone you wanted that didn't do it?
Someone I want.
In the dais?
Nothing jumps out at me.
I thought Bledsoe was important to tell the story,
like to bring him early on.
Because I like this to be like chronological.
I like to take you through the honoree's life.
And Drew kind of kicks off his professional career.
And then Belichick kind of capped it at the end,
towards the end.
but no I don't think there's anybody we didn't get that we really needed I think it felt pretty complete once you had bellichick and craft and you guys you and gronk
now who made the decision on which patriots go up because a lot of people with you know if there was one thing rabble and matt light should have probably went up well we put everybody through a cognitive test and gronk made it and
Grank failed, but we thought we could write funny jokes about him.
Grank told me the other day that he's like now goes through airports and people don't even
remember him as a football player. He's like, I'm a comedy star now.
Old ladies think I'm like a sitcom actor.
That was you, bro.
Well, he's on animal control too.
Right after this, I was in Brazil.
Yeah.
And people would come up to me and the majority of people would come up to me.
and the majority of people come up to me
because of the roast.
They didn't know, they thought I was a comic.
Right.
Like, no, I don't do comedy.
Football player.
Right, right.
Well, you had your helmet off.
You're telling jokes.
You're comic.
It was crazy.
That's how big it was.
Like, internationally.
I love that.
I really love that.
Who took the most convincing?
Belichick?
Yeah.
That was hard.
Yeah.
How did that go down?
My partner, Casey,
he did the dealings with him.
But the big pitch was that it would,
he'd be able to, Bill himself would be able to show a side
that no one knows about.
The human being, the sense of humor,
the cutting ruthlessness that you don't see
because he's always like, no comment, blah, blah, blah.
You know, so suddenly he's commenting.
Which we all saw that every day in the locker room.
Right.
So that's the freaking leader.
that's what you want to see.
Now that he's, you know,
at legend status, why not show everybody
how you do it?
Without a doubt.
Those brutal truths.
Belichuk was a tough one to get there.
I mean...
And Peyton was tough to get there.
Peyton almost left because it was going on so long.
Wait.
That's the time.
He was so long.
The show was like three hours and six minutes.
And that's because Kevin was riffing so much
in between acts.
and Peyton was backstage, like, shortening his scripts, threatening the leave.
I mean, he also roasted ghost.
Like, Kim Kardashian did her thing and then sat in the audience for another two and a half hours.
That's a good sport.
Peyton's like, I don't want to get roasted.
I'll come out and I'll leave.
Nah.
You know, come on, Omaha.
This ain't a Bush's baked bean commercial.
Come on, dog.
Peyton was hilarious, and I do love him at a comedy show.
but I always want the people to stick around.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Come on, man.
Now, can you explain to everyone your role behind the scenes as an executive producer?
Because I remember when I originally said, I don't want to do it.
I'm too scared.
You called and like did some convincing.
And then we would talk in with a creative room.
And we basically would lay out everything that I thought was funny.
then you guys would formulate it and turn it into like some cool joke.
I had some jokes.
You guys had,
explain that process of what you did behind the scenes for the roast.
It's a lot.
I'm in the middle of it now.
You know,
sometimes it's comedians like Andrew Schultz, Tony,
Hinchcliffe, Sam J.
That have that edge.
And for them,
you know,
it's about giving them the platform to do what they do.
Other people like Tom and Bert, Kreischer and Tom Segora,
they're not really known for that type of comedy.
So I'm like, come up with something different that no one else is doing.
So you don't sound like everyone else and it's unique to you guys.
So you have to come up with ideas.
Ron Burgundy, you know, you kind of get that.
That's him doing his character.
And you put writers on it.
In that case, he probably hired his own writers, if I recall.
But the players, you, Gron,
Bledsoe. Drew
came in with fucking pages
of like he'd been waiting
for this call for 20 years.
For three. Or like 25
years. Matherfunker. Drew Bledso
I
he was
I've never seen anybody like he
was so gung-ho like he was
bloodthirsty for this.
He did great too. Yeah.
We had him on the show the next day. He was just like
so just vibed out. He was so
happy. Dude, after the roast, he came
with me in the comics to the comedy store and got drunk with us till three in the morning.
Fuck, yeah.
He, you know, he's the best.
But what we do is, like, in your case, Gronk's case, it's like an interview.
Like, what, you know, what's your relationship with Tom, like, you know, what would you
want to get off your chest?
What's something you always wanted to say to him?
And we're taking notes so that the jokes we write for you.
Authentic.
are only you could tell, Julian.
I don't want jokes that, I wouldn't, like,
I wouldn't give you my leftover jokes.
It would be like,
you're tough.
It would probably work, but it wouldn't be memorable.
Yeah.
You'd get the laugh,
but you wouldn't have people stopping you
in the street in Brazil going,
you're a comedian.
Because they're tailor-made like a suit to you.
And if I recall,
you had like your friends helping you too.
You were coming in with ideas.
So when I clock that, I go, this guy's going to be good
because he cares.
He's competitive.
And once the other teammates started coming in, Randy Moss,
Brank, you were the first one we booked.
We couldn't get anybody at first.
That's an exclusive.
Nobody wanted to do this fucking thing.
We were all terrified.
I was like, I'm not doing it down.
I was like, no fucking way.
Yeah, you were going to get canceled.
So I called you.
You were like, I don't want to fucking get in the middle of this.
But I was like, no, man.
you could really score.
This guy could sell a ketchup stick to a woman in white.
I tell you right now, this fucking guy.
This fucking guy.
Was I right?
He was fucking right.
Was I right?
He was fucking right.
He was right.
And also the cool thing with Jeff, and I will say as a non-comic doing this,
he helped make it so comfortable for us.
Like, we've already explained to our audience, you know,
a few nights before the roast or like a week before the roast,
you had me come to the comedy store and do my...
Three days before the roast.
Three days before the roast to do my set,
to try to learn the crowd and feel those,
those, those, those,
that energy for the first time I've ever felt.
And it was great for me because it was like,
as of athlete, we are creatures of habit and we always wanted a rep.
Like our whole thing was we would install the play.
We'd walk through the play.
Then we would go to a drill for the play.
Then we would run the play.
Like, there was so much.
many things before you got to run the place. So the the preparation that you helped me out with and
the comfort that you gave me to go out there and embarrass myself was awesome. Like I,
thank you. Thank you. You're welcome. You did not embarrass yourself. Well, thank God we had,
I think 15, 16 frat dudes. It's funny. Like, remember they're all frat kids? You know, it's like
practice, whether it's a roast or running a play. It's really important to run.
the plays. And for me, like, tonight, I'll go to the comedy store and I'll run the plays.
Those are my plays. Because it's not the jokes. Anyone can write jokes. It's the moments.
Like, I, like, which one is a question? Which one is a, do I say to Kevin? Which one do I say
about Kevin? Now, like, now once I pick my material, I'm nuanced, I'm just tweaking it just a little
bit.
Timing.
Right.
Timing of like,
I remember there was like three things that we wrote.
It was just like I say it something and the crowd erupts and you got to let them die before you can
deliver the like the delivery of everything.
You need that rep.
The variables of the crowd.
The variables of the room.
All those things matter.
And when you get that rep, even if it's only one rep, I would have fucking probably like not.
sold the joke if I didn't do it the first time. Because you went to the comedy club,
it demystifies the whole thing. Yeah. And it was it was harder in the comedy store. Of course.
Because everyone's on you. And no one cares about Tom Brady's not sitting there. No.
The stakes are, we're just two guys reading off our phones. Yeah. I was like shaking.
Right. I remember you were shaking. And as the flashcards. It was kind of beautiful to see like a super.
Super Bowl champ nervous in my arena.
But by getting, like, dusting it off and working it out a little bit,
it's why you killed so hard.
Because now you're not telling jokes.
You're just saying the jokes.
You know them so well.
You know what's funny about them.
Yeah.
Because you've done it.
You've heard them get laughs.
So that's got to boost your confidence.
Yeah, it was confidence.
The mystery is gone.
You know that they get laughs.
What is it?
From strangers.
Yeah, from strangers.
So then you go do it at the forum in front of 10, 12, 15,000 people with Tom Brady sitting there.
It was fun.
Now, was that moment when Tom came up to you and pretended like he was mad about the RKK drive?
Was that a moment?
Was that scripted or not scripted?
I don't know.
You tell me.
You tell me.
You're the EP.
Not scripted.
Not scripted.
That was good.
Not scripted.
You know, we all were talking about it.
Was it scripted?
Was it not scripted?
When did you know Mr. Kraft was going to be there?
That day.
Late edition.
Yeah.
I knew the joke, I knew the joke was pushing it,
but I also knew it might be worth it.
So sometimes you kind of pick your moments.
I like to be edgy.
I like to scratch the skin, but not break it.
And I thought that joke would scratch, not break.
Robert Kraft loved it.
Loved it.
Loved it.
I've seen him three.
time since he loved it.
Tom was trying to become
an owner. He needed
Kraft's help, so he was protected his
fucking guy. I don't know you're talking.
I respect that. I respect that.
Some motive. I respect
that. Oh, for sure. It's like when a lawyer
objects on behalf of a client,
even when they know it's bullshit.
So I got to give Tom credit
for sticking up for this guy right there.
But everybody's like,
the reason people think it was scripted is because I
panic.
This guy knows. He's a pro.
Like if I, if, if, if that could,
if I didn't know Tom really well, he was my partner on the show,
that would have been a Will Smith moment there, right? Like, you think,
you see Tom Brady coming at you. You think you're about to get smacked. I mean,
he's already been through it. Don't forget. Kevin Hart just destroyed him.
Now was Will Smith before this or after this? Before. Okay. So it could have happened.
Yeah. At that, that point,
Will Smith doing something like that is like not even imaginable.
Yeah.
Right.
Right.
Right.
Right.
So now, no, Tom was cool.
Tom was, I mean, I think that was all real.
Now.
Of all the things to offend him.
One joke about Robert Kraft.
Not all that,
all that shit about his life and family and guy loves football.
The whole world's calling him a cheater,
but don't fucking fuck with Robertcraft.
Oh, my God.
It all worked out, man.
It all worked out.
The Raiders now.
Now, Nikki Glazer.
Yeah.
She had, like, after this, it felt like she just went up.
I thought she had the most to gain out of this whole thing.
And she fucking murdered it.
And the work she put in.
Golden Globes.
I saw her last night.
You know, she really, really murdered this one.
That's her work ethic.
But I got to tell you something about Nikki.
Yeah.
This catapulted her.
And she admits that.
But she'd been doing these.
roast and roast battles and the historical roast that I do on Netflix for a dozen years already.
So she put her time into the roast world.
Like this was her thing.
So it's not like you and Gronk where you figured it out for the one night and killed it.
Like she'd been really working towards this moment.
You got to give her a huge round of applause for that.
Success is when preparation meets opportunity.
There you go.
That's what she did.
That opportunity was right there for her.
Eat up.
What's your most underrated moment from this roast?
Okay.
The thing that people don't talk about enough.
And one of the reasons it's the greatest roast of all time,
one of the reasons we're talking about it,
that bottom-middle picture.
I'm Brady's rebuttal.
we don't talk about the rebuttals enough.
First of all, he had to follow three hours of getting his teeth kicked in.
Three hours and six minutes.
So that means he came up like five minutes to the three hour mark.
Oh.
So he hasn't peed.
He's sitting there.
He can't call anybody.
He can't complain to his manager.
What did you get?
He's got to process it all live across the world.
right, they're watching this shit in Brazil, right?
Everywhere.
Everyone he's ever met is watching it.
And he goes up, cool as can be, and fucking kills.
And he's like cocky.
And he's like talking about the flake gate, talking about.
He's never heard him talk about.
Right.
So it's not his comfort zone.
So I thought his rebuttal is what capted this thing.
1,000%.
We talk about the shots and craft.
You can see if Belichick doing shots.
We talk about, you know, the players rising to the occasion.
We talk about Nikki Glazer.
We talk about the surprise appearances.
But Tom's rebuttal, that's one for the books.
We'll be right back after this quick break.
I'm Luke Wilson.

It's the enhanced games.
Some call it grotesque.
Others say it's unleashing human potential.
Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year.
Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds.
I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth.

I'm Sam Jett.
And I'm Alex English.
Each episode, we pick it here, unpack what went down, and try to make sense of how we survived it.
Including a recent episode with Mark Lamont Hill waxing all about crack in the 80s.
To be clear, 84 is big to me, not just because of crack.
I'm down to talk about crack on day, but just so y'all know.
I mean, at this point, Mark, this is the second episode where we've discussed crack.
So I'm starting to see that there's a through line.
We also have AIDS on the table right now.
Thank you for finishing that sentence.
I don't think there's a more important year for black people.
Really?
Yeah.
For me, it's one of the most important years for black people in American history.
Listen to look back at it on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Man.
Tom and late game situation is always great.
Unreal.
I mean, just to put a bow on this bad boy, the roast literally became a cultural phenomenon.
Jules getting recognized out in Brazil.
unbelievable.
Streamed 1.6 billion minutes viewed in that first week.
Two-thirds of Netflix's viewership that week became the most streamed Netflix live event ever.
Tom would be inducted in the Patriots Hall of Fame June 2024.
So right after this, this was kind of the ice spray.
We had a roast too.
The roast made that event so much better because that could be all love.
Because of the roast, we were all like, you know how your method right now?
You're just roasting.
Yeah.
After the roast, we all thought we were roasters for at least six months.
Yeah, we were such dicks to each other.
Just assholes.
So at the Patriots event, you were roasting each other?
All day, the whole thing.
Everyone was just roasting everyone.
What was great about that, the Tom Brady getting inducted in the Patriots Hall of Fame,
Bill Burr went up, and instead of like roasting Tom, he roasted like everyone else.
And it was kind of like a nice, like, oh, that's cool.
I love that.
That was cool.
And then, of course, the roast would be nominated for an Emmy, like we talked about earlier.
Unbelievable.
The aftermath, the roast became a cultural phenomenon, which screamed billions of minutes.
The roast became the most of the most.
streamed live event ever.
The one,
the one stat that's not on here,
you ready for this one?
This is a fucking mind fuck.
For me,
is a comic,
the highest rated comedy special ever.
Bigger than anything.
Wow.
Wow.
The highest rated comedy special in history.
That's incredible.
Wow.
And what metric?
IMDB or just,
oh,
just watching?
It got Super Bowl halftime numbers.
Yeah.
So I don't care if you're, and I, you know, all my guys, Dave Chappelle, Chris Rock, you know, this was bigger.
This was bigger.
Wow.
Chappelle was pissed when I told him that.
Chappelle was in the green room, right?
He was so cool.
He's my guy.
Fucking Jeff's got a lot of friends.
Yeah.
A lot of cool friends.
That's how I do this.
You know, you got to be able to bring people together.
And nobody wants.
to go unless they feel wanted.
You got to make people feel like
wanted. One thousand percent.
We all felt wanted that night.
Yes. By old Jeff.
Now, before we go in
to grading the roast.
I love how
you guys are doing this, by the way. This is so
delightful for me.
Bill Simmons used to say
that I was the Michael Jordan of roasting
and he would always compare the roast to
sporting events. So the fact that
you're doing this for us is so cool.
Yeah, well, I mean, it is a sport.
Well, this show is just a rip-off of rewatchables, but for sports.
It's blood sport.
Great movie.
Pongpo.
Our last question before we score.
Yeah.
What does comedy mean to you?
Life.
It's my life.
I don't have kids.
It's my life.
The comics are my kids.
This roast is, this Kevin Hart roast is my baby.
It's like, this is my.
mission, my calling, my purpose.
So in the comedy world, I came from your ball sack.
When I started doing these roasts, nobody cared.
You know, 30 years ago, no one cared about any of this shit.
It was like, hey, I'm going to do a roast.
They were like, is that a lost art, like jousting or calligraphy?
Like something no one did anymore?
They would mock me.
And I was like, it's fun.
It's cool.
You write jokes.
folks, like, it's better than just doing the same fucking bullshit act you're always doing.
Like, like, I finished my Broadway show and I had no, like, new act.
And I was, like, feeling a little, like, creatively, like, kind of like, grinding, grinding my wheels.
And I was like, and when Kevin said, all right, let's do a roast, I was like, now I have something to write.
My purpose comes popping back in.
So, yeah, I love, you can't, you can't look at it.
And I know this applies to football.
I have a big neon light in my house that says,
enjoy the process.
It's practice.
It's finding the right cleats.
Getting your moves right.
Learning your play.
It's not just the game.
I like, I got a fitting from my costume after this.
I'm going to go to the comedy store, try out my jokes.
And I'm going to call Tony Hinchcliff back and go over his shit.
You know what I mean?
Then I got seven other things with said and marketing and whatever.
with my partners, the process is so fun.
I grew up in the catering business, weddings, bar mitzvahs.
This is so like that.
Who's going to sit where?
What are they going to wear?
What are we going to, is there booze?
Are we eating?
Is there a party?
Who's going to be there?
Who's the surprise guest?
Like all of it.
I love the process of putting these shows together.
That's something I tell young people all the time.
They go, what's one bit of advice?
I got you to where you want,
see where you are.
I always say,
you have to learn to love to learn.
And it's the preparation that you do throughout the week.
Sunday is the easiest part.
That's the easiest.
The hard part is Monday through Saturday.
Reading this fucking binder you don't want to read
because you just want to think about anything,
rest your brain.
And you got to read,
you know,
today I had to like adjust some scripts and send it in.
And I was just like, this is busy work, but I go, this is the important part.
It's like now I really know it.
Learning it.
It's like anything else.
You want to know your plays so that if you have to improvise off them, you can.
So the thing is, this is something that athletes are always told.
When you know conceptually what's going on mentally, then you get to use your superpower, your quickness, your size, whatever it is.
Everyone has a superpower in the National Football League.
But you can't use it unless you know all the shit.
Right.
You know what I mean?
It's it's just, that's how it goes.
So you subconsciously are doing things because you've already seen them through your preparation.
So then it becomes like deja vu.
Yeah.
Right.
Yeah.
Nothing's going to throw you because you've seen it all.
You've seen it all.
And you've prepared for all of it.
That's why it was good.
went to the club. That's why we went to the club.
You try out your jokes. That's why Jeff got me into the goddamn club doing over here 15.
I did 12 minutes. That was awesome. I got to say like Jeff being part and be getting to be in
Jules's corner and write those jokes and work work with you and you were so gracious with your time
and so kind and helpful. And it was the coolest thing, man. As one of the highlights of my life,
man, getting to learn from the master. Just think about me as the producer. Sometimes people go,
well you want people a bomb right sometimes so that we have something to make fun of no when i'm it's like a caterer
i want everyone who comes to my party to have the best time there like like jeff treated our set as if it
was his own like yeah it was just it was so incredible i need the people i book to kill i need the people
i book to kill because if you bomb the next roast is much harder to book yeah so if i'm if if if if
If Julian Edelman comes to the Tom Brady roast and eat shit, who am I getting for the next roast?
They'll go, I'm not going to bomb like Julian Edelman.
No, if Edelman kills, I go, I took a fucking football player and made him into a comedian.
You think I can't do that.
We did that for Martha Stewart.
We did that for a lot of people.
I mean, Jeff Ross is basically like Corey Close right now.
Recruiting.
Recruiting.
It's so much easier to recruit after an adie.
Oh, yeah.
They just got my day.
on the pod.
He's just the head coach of USA.
All right, let's name the game.
What happens here?
So we name the game.
We have a specific name that we come up with or something that you can come up with.
It's usually how people will remember this thing.
Usually like the macular reception or like, you know.
The colloquial term.
And then we grade the score of it to see where it lands on the list of greatest games of all time.
These are some of the names that we came up with.
If you have a specific name, since you are a great creative mind, you can use that.
We came up with the roast of Tom Brady.
Very original.
The greatest of all roasts.
Great.
The groat.
Greatest roast of all time.
Or something that you.
I came up with the groat originally.
I like the groat.
So I like the groat.
Let's go with the groat.
Score the game.
Is this the greatest roast of all time?
Let's score it.
Decimals are always encourage the stakes of this 2024.
Roast, I think, six years.
hasn't been, it hadn't been done yet.
It hadn't been done for six years.
What is the stakes of this specific roast?
My career is part of.
Put that 10 to 10.
My career was writing on this.
Yes.
Because I'm the roast master.
No roast in five years.
All through the pandemic.
Plus it was like other cultures.
So zero to 10. Put a number on it.
Decimal's encouraged.
Whatever the highest is.
10.
10.
For me personally and for, for me personally,
and for Roast fans.
This is a 10.
Because if this didn't go well,
if it was a bomb ratings-wise or creatively,
roast goes away again for five years.
Or they try to bring it back softer.
You go, that was too much.
Let's do the Jonas Brothers roast.
I like it.
For me, I'm going to go nine.
Nine.
Because if I didn't do this,
everything and entertainment,
probably would have been fucked up for life,
but I still have three Super Bowls, so it can't be a 10.
9-1. 6.9.
And then we had done this with Drew Bledsoe the day right after,
and he did it with an 8.0.
Okay.
The star power of this roast,
a lot of celebrities there,
0 to 10 decimals encouraged.
Well, you got Kim Kardashian and Ben Affleck and Will Ferrell,
without even me thinking about it, right?
And Tom Brady, so and Kevin Hart.
So the star power is...
Do you have any singers?
We had almost all that.
audience wasn't loaded too.
Yeah, I know.
There had to be like...
And the forum,
the forums are fucking star on its own.
I went to the forum the other day to see Springsteen.
Whoa.
And it's gotten to a point now because I'm producing the roast there and I've opened for
Chappelle and John Mayer there.
I don't even think I need a ticket to walk into the forum.
I feel like I could just go there any time.
But because the roast doesn't travel, it's only been at the forum, they have a certain pride.
The people who work there have a lot of pride.
have a lot of pride in the roast.
So the forum is a good.
I think the forum is a star.
Heck yeah.
So you got to grade it, zero to ten.
Yeah, 10.
10.
10.
I mean,
there's a lot of stars there.
You did 95 before.
I'm probably going to go 95.
9 5.
Keep it the same.
I'm in the 9.9.
I had a 9.9.
I had a 9.9.
It feels like sour graves, but okay.
The gameplay of the roast,
how it went.
You know,
It was a little long.
It was long.
But it didn't feel long.
Didn't feel long.
So let's not say wet long.
Let's say it went into OT.
Went into OT.
O.T. Game.
That's a...
And the reason it went long is because Kevin was improvising between roasters and he was so funny.
And I think that is the reason we're roasting him this time.
He was so ruthless to me and Tom and everyone that he's now, we're going to get our revenge on him.
So I think the gameplay should be a high score.
I don't think you could have better gameplay than this.
Zero to 10 decimal.
Everyone killed.
I'm going to go 10.
That Kevin Falk statement.
Kevin Hart.
That Kevin Hart statement was so true.
As soon as Kevin went out there and did his bit to start,
it relieved so many of us.
because he was so mean
he was so mean
but it was also being a good teammate
because pre-show
he knew we were all nervous about our jokes
because we're not in that space
so he went out there and he kind of like
opened the door throughout a jihitsu joke right away
so I'm cool I can talk about it too
he threw out of this joke
and it was like being a good teammate low key
he set the tone a host
a host of a rosas
runs on the tone he set the tone
I'm gonna go with a
Gameplay, 9.3.
I was 8.9.
I had a 4.5.
It's a sports show.
It's a sports show.
So that's where I'm at 4.5.
Drew Bitz had 8.5.
What's Drew's problem?
Why?
It's the best day of his life.
Golly.
Come on, Drew.
What was the joke about him?
Yeah, it's like something about sour grapes for his, his winery.
The name of the roast.
The name of the game.
The groat.
We grade the name here at the nudge.
house.
I don't think it's the, I think it's just groat.
Grote.
Just groat.
Like Facebook, drop the the the.
Drop the the.
Also, the cultural relevance too is how we, like the X factor.
How often do you think about it?
Where is it, where is its place in history?
Zero to 10.
Decimals encouraged.
I mean, you talk about the world or in my own personal?
You can do your own personal.
Your own perspective.
I think about it every day.
So 10.
If I don't, then everywhere I go, people mention it.
Yeah.
I think about it a lot.
So I'm going to go 9.1.
These are all extremely high scores.
But from a 5.5.
But you know what?
We did it the day after, right?
So we didn't quite understand what it was going to be.
And this is two years exactly later.
I think all of our scores are going to go up.
You had what?
I had an 8.
Drew had a 5.
Drew.
Because I were grapes again, brother.
Okay.
So that puts us at 8.5.
I'm only going to tell you guys.
Drew Bledsoe will not be at the Kevin Hartrust.
Damn it.
Thank you.
Thank you.
We just couldn't find a connection between him and Kevin.
So this is our new 29th game.
It's just behind Super Bowl 36 Patriots versus Rams and just ahead of the Immaculate Reception.
Oh, my God.
It feels a little hot.
Yes.
Top 30.
Take that, Jerry.
The 20th, Red, roast.
It used to be our 103rd game.
Just behind a week, a couple of week of regular season games.
So, oh, you can see it.
I mean, yes.
It's like wine.
Ages.
Ages.
Like fine.
Ages Wells, baby.
Shout out your butts.
I'm glad we were in front of the Dolph Ziegler, whatever the hell that was.
We did that one.
Walter Houser.
A new carper title match.
Yeah.
Might have been our deepest cut we've ever done on the show.
That was a good one.
That was O'Shea Jackson.
Paul Walter Houser.
Paul Walter Houser.
Paul Walter Houser.
Got out.
Shout out.
Jeff, we miss anything from this roast?
You know what one of my other favorite moments was was Kraft?
Making that he was funny.
Talking about his ring and Putin.
So we got to give Kraft some credit for coming out of his comfort zone.
And Rich Eisen introducing Kevin at the top,
got to give him a shout out.
How about Rich?
Oh, Rich.
I really wanted Rich in there because my argument was if Rich was involved,
the NFL might not come for us.
They wouldn't want to embarrass him.
Rich and Rich was a good sport.
He's been my friend a long time.
And him kicking it off, instant football cred.
So smart.
Just got, he got it.
And the Jets fan perfecto would have been.
And the Jets fan defecto.
A lot of dot connecting with you, man.
You're a smart guy.
Yeah, thank you.
Very smart.
Everyone's got to go check out Jeff Ross.
Take a banana for the road.
Right.
Inside joke about his grandpa always talking about that.
It's out on Netflix right now.
The Roast of Kevin Hart hosted by Shane Gillis.
It'll be out May 10th.
Everyone, get ready for that.
That's going to be fucking electric.
Live.
Jeff Ross roast you.
The music box at the Borgata Hotel,
casino and spa in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
That is June 6, 2026.
Everyone go get ready for that.
Jeff Ross roast you.
Silver Legacy Resort Casino and Reno.
Everyone loves, Reno.
I like a good.
Reno. That's my parents got married.
Rio. The trip. Burbank Airport.
An easy trip. Easy trip.
Yeah. It's an easy trip. June 13th. Everyone go check it out.
Jeff, thank you so much for coming to do the show.
Come on, guys. You made me feel like a freaking rock star. Thank you. Get out of here.
I love breaking down the roast like this. That was so fun. That was fun.
Man. It's crazy how long Jeff's been doing those roastes.
Oh, gee. Those roasties. Those roasts with the mostest, bro.
Roastess with the most.
The roast master general.
He earned that title.
He climbed the ranks.
I mean, it was so surreal.
To, I remember watching those.
What were they on VH1 or MTV?
Comedy Central. Comedy Central.
One of the Viacom.
One of the Viacom family.
And to be a part of it and be in it and it was just, it was incredible.
And it felt like it sparked comedy back.
I mean, Kevin Hart killed it.
open that thing. Well, they're going to be roasting him in like seven days.
Seven days. Yeah. It'll be fucking, it's going to be incredible. I just, I,
that's still like a pinch me mom. I know it happened, but like getting to work with Jeff on like,
and help you guys. And Jeff was such a like, we, you know, we talked about it. He was such a
huge part for me individually. I'm an athlete. I don't know how to talk in front of people.
And this, that was, you know, talk about stepping outside of your comfort zone. Oh my God.
Which, you know, everyone hates doing.
But some of the coolest shit I've ever done, I've had to step out.
You body it, dude?
No.
All the best stuff is out of your comfort zone.
All the best stuff is out of your comfort zone.
You know, I'm feeling a little uncomfortable right now.
I'm feeling thirsty.
Why is that?
I'm thirsty.
Can I?
Segway?
I think it's time to rehydrate.
Can you toss me something over there?
We got you.
Oh.
This is the sugar-free cherry.
Oh.
That was my bad.
Guy is whipping these things.
Whipping liquid IV packets.
Let's go, baby.
Oh, blooper.
Oh, little bit.
Let me complete one.
Come on.
I got to get my completion rate up.
Here we go.
Got it right in the pocket.
Let's go.
Ring two for five.
Not bad.
You know, drink up and lock in because it's time for everyone's favorite game.
Do you know ball?
As Gillis would always say.
The game where you have to answer football questions.
So thought provoking, you'll need a liquid IV by the end.
I mean, you'll need a liquid IV to get started.
That's right.
Come on.
I'm getting nervous already.
Let's go.
Can I get you kicking us off?
You can go.
All right.
Dules, what's worse?
A selfish star or a bad teammate who tries too hard?
Selfish star.
Yeah.
Bad teammate that tries too hard.
You never get mad at a guy for trying.
to be in the system.
I was going to say, look at Rudy. Rudy, Rudiger, baby.
You know, and honestly, there's been guys like that,
and sometimes guys would get mad, including myself,
but it puts a fire under your ass.
Yep.
You know, when your best players are a problem,
that's not a recipe for any good dish.
Woken like a true ball number.
So I would say a guy trying too hard.
No, selfish players worse.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah, some is worth.
I rather have.
We'll be right back after this quick break.
I'm Luke Wilson.

Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal, but encouraged.
It's the enhanced games.
Some call it grotesque.
Others say it's unleashing human potential.
Either way, the podcast, Superhuman, documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year.
Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds.
I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth.
Listen to Superhuman on the I-Hard Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
A win is a win.
A win is a win.
I don't care what I'm saying.
Yep, that's me, Clever Taylor the 4th.
You might have seen the skits, the reactions, my journey from back.
basketball to college football, or my career in sports media.
Well, somewhere along the way, this platform became bigger than I ever imagined.
And now I'm bringing all of that excitement to my brand new podcast, The Clifford Show.
This is a place for raw, unfiltered conversations with some of your favorite athletes,

Do you remember when Diana Ross double-taped Little Kim's boobs at the VMAs?
Or when Kanye said that George Bush didn't like black people.
I know what you're thinking.
What the hell does George Bush got to do a little kill?
Well, you can find out on the Look Back at it podcast.
I'm Sam J.
And I'm Alex English.
Each episode, we pick it here, unpack what went down,
and try to make sense of how we survived it.
Including a recent episode with Mark Lamont Hill,
waxing all about crack in the 80s.
Is the clutch gene real or something made up?
Clutch gene is a thousand percent real.
I think
there were studies in Russia
and Germany that actually found
an actual DNA
genetic
No, I made that all right.
I was going to say, is that peer reviews?
Is that peer review?
I try to find the clutch G.
Drago.
Drago gets it?
No.
It is though.
I think it has something to do
with the ability to compartmentalize.
You know,
compartmentalizing the same.
situation of how big it is.
You know, guys that can really just like, hey, man, we just did this situation all
week in practice.
It doesn't matter that we're in front of millions across TV, 100,000 in person and playing
against another opponent.
Like, you got to be able to manipulate your mind that it's still the same game.
So I think, I think it is a gene.
Tom has it too.
Believe that.
What is the biggest misconception?
fans have of the NFL.
That everyone's rich.
Facts.
You know, there's a lot of, I would say,
there's probably,
I would say probably 70%,
65% of the locker room
is scratching and gnawn for a spot,
renting their house with teammates,
trying to figure out if they're going to make the team
or if they're on the team, they're on the practice squad,
guys that are trying to get their shot.
there's a lot of those guys.
You know, so, you know, not everyone's what we say, you know,
or what we think of when we write these shows, ballers, this, that.
You know, there's a lot of guys, not, I wouldn't say struggling,
but if you think about it, they've put all their eggs in one basket for athletics.
So, you know, if they make 200 grand being on practice squad for one year,
what do they have after when they don't make it?
They have $122,000 because they got taxed.
They're on that threshold, you know, and they're living.
It's just, it's, it's, I think that people need to realize that not everyone's a baller.
There are certainly guys that make a boatload of money.
And even the lower class guys are making good money, but they're not rich.
The average career length of the NFL is three and a half years.
your rookie league minimum for rookie in 2026 is 885.
So if you say times three,
you've made $300, like $3 million.
But you spent your-
Times three?
Yeah.
So let's say your career is three years.
So it's 24.
And you're making $25.
After taxes,
$1.2.
Yes.
And then you put all of your training in your career into that,
the eggs in the basket.
That's only three years of your career.
What does that look like?
You know,
where other people get in their college
degree, you multiply it by 30 years of their career.
But each year, they're gaining towards their human capital that they can use for their life.
You know, so, you know, it's one of those things where, yeah, the guys are, everyone's compensated
better than 99% of the world.
But not everyone's rich.
When you factor in length of career, it definitely changes it over the course of your entire, like, working years.
There's ain't nobody making, I mean, there's only a handful of guys that go on making the same kind of money afterwards.
Yeah.
You know, we all know them.
When you get the second contract.
Huh?
When you get second contract, that's when you get to be.
Yeah, that's real money.
Then you start, like, taking the private jet to the games.
Like, most guys take their own.
No, that's another misconception.
The crazy thing is, not a lot of guys, not a lot of NFL guys, when I was playing, there was like, you had like the top 15% were,
private jet guys.
Yeah.
You know,
you could jump on with them.
But the crazy thing is when you would...
15% feels high.
Not even, probably.
Not even, actually.
But,
you know,
I,
you go in and we rented a plane once,
like five of us for a trip.
And you're talking to the plane people
and they're like,
it's so,
uh,
it's so crazy,
you know,
you guys don't really fly that private that as much as the other leagues.
You know,
you got no name guys.
baseball and basketball, fly private all the time.
I go, the little contracts are a lot different there, buddy.
And there's more players too.
He's trying to call you some broke boys. Come on.
What's more important? A great QB or a great coach?
Oh, I think they're intertwined.
I think all great coaches have great QBs.
Well, great QBs have great coaches.
It's kind of the same, right?
It's kind of the same.
You know, you need to have them both.
Speaking of airplanes, what's the most you've ever peed on an airplane?
I'm a peer.
Yeah, aisle seat guy, I'll seat guy.
I'm, I'm, I'm, I do the Boston, L.A. all the time.
And I've gotten up because I, you know, being an athlete before you would travel on a game day,
you're drinking a lot of water because of the hydration factor.
You get dehydrated in the air pressure.
We would take liquid IVs all the time.
I don't know if they were around, but form of liquid IVs.
But the dehydration is so much that I overfill my body with water.
You know, overfill.
And I naturally drink a lot of water.
And if I'm not working the water through sweat out of my body, I have to pee.
So I've done six to Boston.
I've done a sixer.
Those aren't rookie numbers, folks.
That's a, yeah.
That's like every, that's like every.
it's like every it's like
twice an hour
damn near
now six is maybe a record
I've done I've done six
I've done more than six on that same plate
yeah I drink a ton of water too
and I also like the excuse to just get up
and move around yeah
same same same you'll stand in the bathroom for a minute
stare in the mirror
JetBlue has the in the
JetBlue has the pantry
so you can go like snack of water on your own
or like get some pop chips I feel that
yeah not anymore
no more RIPB pop chips
I've been flown JetBlue in a minute
yeah
Are they gone?
Yeah, the pop chips are gone.
Do they go cheese it?
They went, they were chiled.
I like cheese it for a while.
I like cheese it.
Now they're, I think, whole grain goldfish.
Oh, all right.
Plantain chips.
Biscop.
I like Biscop.
I like the bishcough is always good.
The Biscop don't miss.
You only get it on the plane.
Oh, only.
Yeah.
Only on the plane.
Biskof and ginger ale, baby.
It's basically like a fancy grahamcracker.
Yes.
Yeah.
Do you know that you can get, I think it's called speculus or speculus where it's the batter of Biscoff, but in a
jar like Nutella? Yes, I have
seen that. It's so fucking good. Whoa.
It's like a European thing.
Whoa. I've seen that in like
little ice cream shops.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh, I'd like to get on that.
So six, I've had quite a few. I think
I'm probably in the three to four range.
Yeah. Um, but I will say
this is terrible for the body. If I know
I don't have an aisle seat, which
is a rarity. Gotta go aisle. You'll Scott Hanson it.
I'll Scott Hanson it. Yeah. Like I purposely
don't drink much. Eat an olive in all's in a
before. I'm too. I'm too.
Can I?
You got it.
You just get a body.
Get up, buddy.
I got to go, T.T.
But what's the biggest mistake rookies make?
Honestly, you want to know why we pee so much is because we don't have liquid IV in there.
The liquid IV is what retains the water in your body.
Keep your eye.
So that if you, that's the problem.
We're drinking too much water and it doesn't hold in.
That's, that's an actual truth.
We'll go on next.
No, that's good.
That's a good note.
What's the biggest mistake rookies make?
I think it's a lot of the time is it's,
it's practice habits.
You know,
great NFL teams
know how to practice right.
Practicing right is like a thud tag off,
fast.
There's contact,
but no one is ever on the ground.
And myself included,
as a rookie,
you're in the middle of trying to make a team,
you're going hard all the times.
It leaves yourself,
you go out of control sometimes,
and you fall on the ground,
you're leaving yourself vulnerable
or hurting someone else.
You know, the best teams know how to practice right.
And I think that's one of the big adjustments when you're a young football player
learning how to practice in the league.
You know, I remember vividly coaches just putting that on the first two weeks of any kind of like OTA
or something where there's helmets, no pads, or even when you get in the pads,
You know, there's example after example.
We can't be on the ground.
That's we're going to, someone's knees going to go out.
This is not how you practice.
It needs to, you know what I mean?
So practice habits.
That's big.
Okay.
Last one.
Jules, who was your favorite teammate to rib on or make fun of?
Ninkovich.
Amazing.
Easy.
I knew that was going to say.
I mean, it is so, so easy.
Niko.
What made him such a good target?
He just, he's funny.
and like
I don't know
I don't know why
you need a little level of like
being flustered by
to like make you antagonized
to do more
he's a good sport too
yeah
who can take it
but it's a little bit flustered
yeah
he's also I feel like
a guy that has like
some somewhat outlandish takes
super outlandish takes
like he stands by though
yeah super outland
like yeah right
Ninkovitch
shut up
I wish I could give
some of the takes
but I can't
I can't because
it would
It would look bad on him.
That leaves you open to being a target, brother.
Fucking still love him, though.
Take it.
I love it.
You got to love him.
We love Niko, friend of the pod, friend of the program.
Man, I'm tired after that and thirsty.
Oh, man.
I need to get a little, let's get a little IV here real quick.
Oh, man, I need that.
That ring pop hit.
That hit.
Such a good flavor.
And that was another edition of,
do you know ball presented by Liquid Ivy?
Get hydrated.
What a game.
What a roast.
And thanks again to Jeff Ross.
