Welcome to Games with Names.
Today, we're going to catch up on some NFL news around the league and talk some old OTAs, mini camps and what we do in the old off season.
But before we get into that,
we got to break down AJ Brown train.
Oh, big one, big one.
I mean, it's been a while when we haven't talked about it.
We haven't had a take out there.
Let's get into this thing.
Let's get into it.
Let's get in.
It finally happened.
I mean, holy smokes.
Didn't we all say it was going to happen June 1?
We knew it was going to happen.
We were delaying the inevitable, but when it finally happened,
it felt like a weight was lifted.
Oh, my gosh, unbelievable.
First off, Jules, what were your initial thoughts?
My initial thoughts were the Patriots have
a big boy. It was a big boy move. This is a big boy move. This is and it also tells me that they think
they're close. I mean, look, they were in the Super Bowl last year. But like, you know, you surround
these types of, you surround Drake May with these types of weapons. Like that's, that's a step in the
right direction. We haven't had this kind of excitement since they brought Rainy Moss.
Legit, bro. You know what I mean? If you think about it, I think it. I think it, I think it
opens up their offense.
I'm excited to see.
I mean, A.J. Brown, he's in his prime.
He's 29 years old.
I mean, he's got something to prove.
Very similar to Digg's situation last year
where he's coming into this thing pissed off
where people are thinking he's not him.
Now, granted, you know, Diggs was coming off that ACL
had a very productive year with 80 plus catches
and six touchdowns.
Like he was a factor and he gave that room an attitude.
Imagine what that room feels like when you got AJ Brown coming in.
We're sitting up straight.
I mean, this guy in his first seasons, 11 touchdown, seven's touching, seven touchdown, seven touchdown, 17 yards a catch, 13, 7 a catch, 13, 7 a catch, 12, 9 a catch, 16, 1.
This is going to open up that offense.
But it gives him a lot of versatility too, because look, you get into the big boy personnel groups with two tight ends and you got two receivers.
you still have AJ Brown.
You get to manipulate the, you know, the coverage.
You get those simpler coverages.
You could give 101 routes with him.
You know, if they can somehow keep age,
or they can, if they can somehow keep Booty,
that'd be nice.
And Booty can keep the mindset of playing ball
and being a team player.
Like that, I think that's a big step.
Because, I mean, booty bringing,
he can still knock off the top of the coverage.
I mean, so I was 16 and a half.
yards per catch last year. I mean, that's top five
in the league. It was crazy. Yeah. And only
30-something catches, so you're only
going to get, I mean, you're probably
going to get more looks with AJ here. 100%,
you'd think. And then, you know,
AJ being paired up with Josh McDaniels.
Oh, oh, baby,
it's a match made in heaven. Raney Moss
first year with Josh, 20,
22 touchdowns, what was it?
I believe so. The record.
Yep, the record. Branden Marshall first year
with Josh. Falled. I think you had
110 plus catches.
Devante Adams
DeVante Adams
180 targets
100 catches
1500
honestly my first year
being featured with Josh
I had 105
catches and six
seven touchdowns
you know what I mean
he knows how to get receivers
the ball
you know
and all different types of body types
what he does
you know what I mean
I'm excited to see
how Josh uses AJ
I'm excited to see
the growth
of Drake May
with AJ
and the other receivers in that room.
It brings their level of play up.
I remember, you know, it brings me back to when we brought in Antonio Brown
into our locker room.
Everyone, like that week of practice, zero balls touched the ground
because everyone had to bring their game up because Antonio was there.
Ain't that many balls going around.
Clean operation.
So if you're going to get an opportunity,
you got to make a stand so you get that opportunity in the game.
So this could raise everyone's level of pay.
All boats, baby.
What do you think Josh is doing to get him comfortable right now?
Look, I think A.J. Brown, he's what is in his eighth year, seventh year?
He's a veteran.
He's a number one receiver.
He knows what he's got to do.
He's heard a lot of football.
He's been in a few different systems.
I'm sure it's just getting the language right, getting the formations right,
getting the motions right.
getting the concepts right.
All those little things are probably what they're going over day to day,
just trying to get him comfortable so we can see him use that big explosive body.
You know what I mean?
You got you can,
he'll be able to use it more when everything settles down,
which you're not going to be worried about A.J. Brown, this guy.
Atheir guy, come on.
He's coming on his eighth year.
And, yeah, and he's excited to be a patriot.
That's the cool thing.
Like he grew up a Patriot fan.
He might be the biggest Patriots fan of all time.
He could be.
Man Cave rug.
The Man Cave rug?
We need one of those.
Roe.
I mean,
we need one of those in the year.
Might put it on loan in the Nuthouse.
My guy had that as a Philadelphia Eagle, though.
I love it.
I mean,
you like who you like.
I have nine or shit in here.
Hey.
Got a nine or shit.
Stick with who you're raised with, man.
I just picture him having like the boys over from the evening back.
Oh, shit.
Put the rug.
We got to put the rug away.
We got the rug away.
We're having company over.
Put the rug.
man it's it's gonna be really fun i think so too and i keep going back to that quote i think you said it even
before this but josh was saying he plays with such a force like gronk like like a force i just love hearing
that he's he's just a big body that can make contested catches that can run with it after
uh 50 50 balls it's just it's and you know he can run routes you know so i mean that's all we saw
them do last year. They had like three routes
and slam and out in this. So like
maybe we throw a couple counters in there with Josh
and you're going to see a lot more explode.
I just like I like Josh with receivers.
Me too. Josh knows how to get the ball to guys.
And Drake,
I mean, another year in Josh's system
being able to get everything
operated, the communication
for the linemen and the protection.
Like you're going to see, I think we see
another jump. I think we see
Another jump. God-Baring, everyone says he's healthy.
That brings us to some of our other news that was coming out of OTAs.
They said they want to weaponize Drake May's mind.
What did you make of that quote?
Well, I mean, they want him to take the step to being like a Brady, a Peyton, a Drew Breeze, a Mahomes.
That's by what they're saying is they want him to be able to be the coach on the field.
get them in the right play every single time
and the right protection
every single time
getting them out of bad looks
having that authority to get him out of bad looks
being able to do everything at the line of scrimmage
that's what that weaponizing the mine is
because we all know he's a weapon as an athlete
I mean led the last year in deep balls
he's very very sneaky fast athletic
got that herbert you know
where he'll take off on you and have a six
65-yard run.
Don't turn your back.
You know, so, like, those are awesome plays.
But, like, going a whole game with no M-E's, no mishaps, no bad throws, no wrong
throws, like, that is what I think weaponizing his mind, getting them to that next level,
which time on task, that's what happens.
You know, that's why this is going to be an even more exciting offseason for Drake May
because he already learned,
last year he had to learn the language.
Just huge.
You know,
you gotta learn the language of what Josh is preaching,
the zero out slot.
Now we need to start learning the slang.
Now we gotta start your,
the swear words.
We gotta start,
you know,
when you learn that new language
with your boys and you drop a motherfucker
right here and there.
And it's like,
yeah,
in Spanish,
or you know what I mean?
You know,
it's just,
we got to get some of that slick slang going.
That type you're out in public saying and people next door are like,
are these guys speaking?
What language are the language?
Is he a local?
Is this guy a local?
This guy is.
You know,
Spanish correlates with the local.
Yes.
Spanish.
Yes.
You know,
the dialects.
We got to get them dialects right.
I like that.
That puts all under perspective.
We're good, bro.
Drake just got to get some of them swear words down.
He's just got to get swear words.
That's what it's all about this year.
No,
building, baby, building.
I mean,
I'm hyped up here in that weapon.
Isn't the mind? That just sounds so good.
Yeah. I mean, that means if they're even bringing that up, that means it's going in that direction.
Seriously, yeah. I mean, if that's on the table.
And they're putting it out there for, you know, Drake, hey, we know what you are.
We need you to get even better.
Would you say that's the one thing if you'd want to see Drake work on this offseason or take a step forward or kind of add to his arsenal would be just like getting all that lingo down and.
Well, it's just everything. Like, you know, late in the season.
you know, it was, it got, you know, the protection, I mean, there's so many factors into that,
but being able to use your mind to solve a problem instead of your athleticism.
Right, man, we're not getting this guy block.
What the hell can we do?
All right, this is what I'm going to do.
Hey, we're going to slide the line here and maybe go off on a different tangent to the code.
Hey, fuck it.
Hey, yo, you know, that's weaponizing your mind.
Slide him.
I'm like, get the ball out quick.
hey, hey, pop, pop, give me a swing.
I can't block.
Shit like that.
I don't know.
Yep.
That's kind of what I think weaponizing the mind is.
You know, being operationally correct and being able to get out of a problem with the mind,
not the legs or a crazy Caleb Williams throw or something.
You know what I mean?
Putting it all together.
Putting it all together.
And then some other stories that came out of Patriots camp,
a little OTA recap here.
Caleb Lomo looked good, playing him all over the line.
The rookie.
But not in the left tackle spot, right?
Specifically, I heard.
No, no.
Yeah, everything but I'm thinking,
kind of putting them everywhere,
swing tackle kind of vibes.
Yeah, I mean, you could never have too many big boys.
Heck no.
Especially a first rounder.
Never that.
I like him.
First rounder?
No, that's only going to build depth.
It's going to sharpen those guys.
I'm excited for that.
I was going to say,
and he's learning from some vets in there.
He's got a young buck like Will Campbell.
over there to help him out. He's...
You get Moses, too.
Moses, big time.
Moses is, you know, he's got a lot of knowledge and time on this task.
Yep. And you got Vera Tucker in there now as well.
Tucker. Another vet to help mold that mine. I'll be sick. I like this.
Like you said, can't have, never have enough alignment. Can't have too many.
No. And those... Protecting, you know, all costs.
If you have a good swing tackle, it can put you in like those 13 personnel groups
where you bring in that tackle for the tight end, the goal lines, the short-yard.
garages. It's a, it's a weapon. If you have a guy that can have the versatility to be able to go
back and forth, mindset and physical ability. That's huge. You know, so hopefully he develops himself
a nice little role. I mean, we're not going to know anything in OTAs about a lineman. We're in fucking
chiper. You know, that's, this is all about the organized team activities and the offseason is all
about getting the minds right for when we do put on those pads, we can, we, we don't look like
the YMCA club.
Not, don't just slap it out there.
You know what I mean?
Say no sleigh out.
Amen, man.
So right now, this is all footwork, timing, no, no contact, you know, knowing where to go,
hearing the play, knowing personnel groups,
learning the operation of getting a play called in,
how much time we have at the line of scrimmage,
identifying what the defense is giving us,
communicating to our offense,
what we're going to do,
getting us to the play.
Like, that's what this is all about.
This is all about the dance and the flow stuff.
This isn't nothing about this is about,
like, real football where you're going to get hit.
Right.
We're trying to get ourselves,
that's all mindless stuff because we know it so well
that when we do get to hit we use the right proper technique
and it looks like professional football.
Got to walk before he can run out here.
And I like Doug Marone out there coaching these lines.
I like that.
I mean, I wonder what kind of baloney they got in the stadium for him.
Does he go?
Is he still doing the baloney?
I was going to say he's infamous for that.
Whenever I think Doug Maron, I think baloney.
I'm going to go into one of these training camps.
I'm going to ask for the Doug Maron.
Were you a baloney guy growing up?
My mom liked baloney too.
My mom liked Oscar Meyer baloney.
The classic with mustard chips on the white bread sandwich.
American cheese though.
You have to have the most processed cheese possible.
Processed on processed,
on processed if you're having like ginger and white bread.
I mean,
then if you're feeling a little frisky,
maybe you throw that thing on the old pan.
Oh,
a little hot dog taste.
You got a slice the edges a little bit
so it doesn't puff up on you.
Oh yeah.
Oh, yeah.
Classic.
We gotta get Doug in here.
Old Doug.
Talk some below.
Dougie fresh.
Dougie fresh.
Let's go.
Other news in there was Christian Gonzalez.
The hold in was still working out of that contract situation.
Get him paid.
Get him paid.
Come on.
Gonzo.
Best guy,
one of the best players on the field in the Super Bowl.
Yeah.
They're figuring it out.
It sounds like as of last night,
he did buy a new house in the Foxborough area.
That's good news.
We're probably in Foxborough.
We were in Foxborough.
It's a greater Foxborough.
where I think somewhere said Walpole.
Oh, he's in Walpole.
That's what, that's what I, the report I saw.
I get over to that, bro.
What, kid?
Moving on up.
Go south.
We got Alboro money.
And then we touched on a little bit earlier.
The wide receiver room is getting a little crowded there.
Now with AJ in there, you got some talk that Booty might be the odd man out.
But as we said, booty's coming off a 33 catch here, 16.0.7 yards of catch.
You got Pop in there.
I don't know if booty's handling this correctly.
I know.
I know.
I mean,
he had a hell of a four,
what do you have,
36 sketches?
I think he was 33.
Let me double shit.
I mean,
that,
that was,
that's production,
six touchdowns,
800 yards.
I think he had 167 a catch.
But what round was he drafted in?
He was late,
I think it was like six or seven.
See,
I don't know what the communication is,
if this is on him sitting out,
like that's probably like the last thing you want to do.
Six rounder at LSU in 2023.
Six rounder because we're dealt with the gambling case.
That ain't,
that didn't go anywhere.
So like what leverage does he have?
Is his leverage that he's got 36 catches that he wants to get traded?
I just,
I think that,
you know,
I've been in that situation where you bring someone in,
you get your feelings hurt,
and, you know,
but this is national football league.
There's going to be new players every year.
Every year.
And, you know, I think you probably want to be out there.
Real.
To see where you're going to create your role.
Because, you know, or unless he thinks he wants to get traded and he has not, I don't know.
I don't know.
I just probably, I would have handled it a little differently.
No, I'm with you.
Like he's a, he's a great.
thing is he's going to benefit from this.
Like,
AJ Brown's going to take all the coverage.
Yes.
And then you're going to get real one-on-one down-the-field booty throws all the time.
He's going to have more opportunity.
And, you know, you go into your contract year,
you bump it up to 45 catches for 1,000 or close to 900 yards.
Then you go into free agency instead of having all this.
You know, so I don't.
I'm with you.
You know, right now, a lot of receivers are coming out.
I know.
What are you, and based on the...
And he's a good football player.
He's a really good football player, but I just,
I probably would have handled it a little differently.
I'm with you.
You got to be there.
I hate that he wasn't around the team that much during...
He came to the mandatories only or something.
Yeah.
And then, uh, I don't think really had any catches the last day or two.
It didn't sound like...
Yeah, I mean, he hasn't been there.
He's not going to have any catches.
The rapport that they've had for the last five weeks
it's just, I don't know.
I don't know who's advising them.
I like, yeah, it's weird.
Is it his agent?
Who's his agent?
Let's see who his agent is.
Who's his agent?
He is, oh, he's a Drew Rosenhouse guy.
Oh, Drew.
All right, I'm off limits.
I'm off.
If you got Drew, we, we know all the,
gronky had Drew.
He did.
He's still Drew guy?
I think so.
I thought so, yeah.
He's probably one of the men.
I like Drew's
I like Drew.
He's a legend.
He always,
he is a legend.
Legend.
He wasn't,
he was T.O.
and T.O. was doing setups
in the driveway.
I mean,
he's got all the big guys.
Yes.
Classic.
Rosenhouse,
I feel like Rosenhaus
has looked the exact same
since I was like,
Guy hasn't aged.
Right?
What do you think?
How old do you think he is right now?
Drew's probably 55.
Let me look this up.
I mean, his genetics are insane.
59.
59.
I mean, dude,
looks like he's,
he's looked the same since I've been alive.
He shout out Drew Rosenhouse.
Shout out to Drew.
Drew.
You know,
getting them boys paid.
Yeah, Drew.
I know you're a man of leverage.
Leverage, leverage.
Leverage guy.
I don't know.
It's just,
I don't know.
It's tough because that is a,
that's a crammed room now.
It is.
What do you think?
Speaking of that,
what do you think of the room?
We got Matt Collins,
he got Pop Douglas,
Kishon Booty for now,
Romeo Dobbs,
new edition,
didn't really mention him yet.
Efton Chisham,
Kyle Williams.
That's kind of the core right now.
Yeah,
it's going to be Chisholm and Pop and Williams probably battling.
Yep.
And, you know, depending on booty, I would say those are the guys because you look at Mac,
he brings a tenacity to the room.
He also covers a lot of holes on the team and special teams and blocking.
Blocking.
He's got a niche package that like Josh probably really loves.
I mean, the two, AJ's not, you know, he's going to be the guy.
He's the guy.
Then you got Dobbs who you just paid some money to.
So he's going to be a guy.
You know, and then after that,
you're going to have to start fighting to get on the field.
Oh, yeah.
I mean, you still have Hunter Henry, who's a pass catcher who he's going to take targets.
So it all depends on how they want to form their team,
what kind of team they want to be.
and that's what this part of the year is about,
putting your team in all the different personnel groups
and seeing how they gel together,
seeing if you have a bunch of receivers,
let's make a four wide group.
Oh, but if we're not there,
we're not there,
we're not going to be in the four wide group.
I know.
So I don't know.
Maybe it's just,
I hope it goes well because he's,
if they can have booty in there as well,
because he,
that's speed,
you can't teach that.
No.
And he made plays.
He made some big plays last year.
He's a baller.
Yeah.
But I mean, not.
I don't know sitting out baller.
I don't like that.
Right now.
I'm with you.
And then, uh,
tell me what I'm wrong.
True.
Give me a call,
Bobbs.
Let me tell me what I need to know.
Let me hit the driveway.
Get a couple sit-ups out.
Oh my gosh.
Fucking T.
That's so cool.
A major bummer out of Pat's training camp.
Julian Hill,
tied in.
Yeah,
it sucks.
Season ending injury.
See right there.
Oh, I hate that.
Now we got to see.
This guy gets hurt.
Oh, shit.
we don't have our 12 personnel group.
Let's go into Pony, which is three receivers, two running backs, no tight ends.
Oh, let's go into four.
Let's go four wide.
Let's go three wide.
You know, that's when we got to have these receivers there to plug and play.
So, hey, you're playing Y today.
The terminology is going to be a little different because in this personnel group,
you're going to be the Y or you're going to be the X or the F or the, you know what I mean?
That's what this is for.
That's what OT, because then we get into training camp where we got to relearn everything.
the fucking train is moving.
The train is on the tracks
and it don't stop for nobody.
Right, brother.
Damn right.
That was a little bit of the Patriots OTA.
I tried that shit when they brought it A-B.
What'd you do?
It's all bad stuff.
Bill.
Look, Joel, it's gonna make you fucking better.
Yeah.
But it did.
Oh, man.
It bros everyone's level.
When you bring in, you know,
a real, a real ball.
You got better in that one week.
I got better in that week and a half.
It was a fucking flawless.
It was flawless practice.
Flawless practice.
Which, you know, carried into whatever it did.
Couldn't see an in me for miles.
That sucks that we had Julian Hill, season ending, ACL.
Free agent.
Freaking hate it.
Yeah.
They were talking good about him too, I think.
I was really getting hyped up for what he could do for the run game.
Josh, if you get, if you get him,
get Josh a good pat like a good
block in tight end you can get real
creative with it and those personal groups got fullback in there now too
Josh loves a fullback yeah
shout out creates matchups
yeah that's what the exciting that's the
that's what we're talking about mind games or what we say
weaponize the mindizing the mind
that's what this is
this this period is for
trying those little things
trying different personnel groups
seeing how
the team, how the quarterback, how the line all like it.
How the running backs adjust to it.
You know, protections, not physical, but mental.
Let's see it.
Let's see us do it right.
Yep.
Let's see us do it right.
And then when we throw on the pads, that's when there's another variable.
Reps, reps, reps, reps, reps.
No, that's when there's another variable.
Everyone's got a plan to you.
You get a push in a fucking face.
Shout out, Mike Tyson.
We'll be right back after this quick break.

buzzing from the stadium, the chanting from the fans, the announcers calling the place,
soccer, football, it's home.
Why do I watch the World Cup?
That's like asking me, why do I breed?
I inherited that fandom from my mom.
I like watching it with my dad.
It's a connecting force.
From Futuro Studios, I'm Fernanda Chavari, and this is American Football,
a show about soccer culture in the U.S. and its underdog roots.
We go beyond the game to the people and the stories that make it great.
A soccer game is a festival.
It's not just a game.
It's your culture.
I took an elbow to my head, which cracked my skull.
It is an American game.
The Brazilians don't like hearing that, though.
Are they the only ones that don't like that?
Nobody likes that.
As we get ready for the Men's World Cup this summer,

Speaking of,
speaking of training camp and mini camp OTAs.
Oh yeah.
We hear,
we know it's football is 24-7 these days.
It doesn't stop.
So mini-camp OTAs getting a lot more coverage than they did in the past.
And we're in these things.
It's June,
but we're still talking football.
Jules,
for the fans out there,
can you pull back the curtain a little bit and take us inside a typical mini-camp?
We touched on a little bit earlier,
but just kind of what goes down and what are you looking to get out of this?
what makes for a successful mini-camp OTAs session.
So minicamp is like an introduction of what training camp's going to be.
Right.
You've been doing OTAs.
I believe you have 12, 13, 15 OTAs,
which is basically kind of very similar to what the mini-camp is.
You install 10 plays in the morning.
You go out and you drill the 10 plays.
You individualize the 10 plays.
you come together, you do seven on seven for those 10 plays,
and you get into team and you do those 10 plays.
And then after practice, in OTAs, you go home.
In minicamp, it's the same thing.
And after practice, you watch that practice
and you correct what you did on the field if it was wrong
or you highlight good things.
I can't even say that highlight good things.
It's weird, you know.
You highlight the good things.
and then you install for the next day what you're going to be doing the next day after practice.
So it's a longer day.
It's kind of like an introduction to what training camp is going to be.
And then, you know, it's a way to introduce to the new guy on the team, the young guy on the team,
how things are kind of done mentally, physically, operationally, how it's going to be in
training camp. Very abridged little baby version, but it's, it's more mentally taxing than an
OT day. OTA day. So it's like that introduction. All right, we're going to be here from eight o'clock
till five. We're going to have, you know, you're going to go through this, the individuals,
the walkthroughs. It's going to be that same kind of day format, baby abridged version of a training
camp. Try to introduce these guys before they have that five, six week break or whatever it is,
four and a half week break till training camp,
this is what it's going to be like.
Because once you get back for training camp,
the coaches are automatically assuming that every guy that we,
everything that we did in camp is,
that's foundationed.
We can pull from that every time.
We'll spend the first couple days of camp doing those things to refresh our minds.
But now, hey, now we're adding.
We're adding.
And who can add?
Who can go through the,
day format of, all right, we installed 10 plays. We went over those 10 plays. We didn't do them
well. Did we fix them the very next day? We installed that night after that. All right, what guys can
handle that? You know, that this is an evaluation process. That's what OTAs and many camps are.
We're evaluating the team. We're evaluating the player. Who can mentally adapt to what we do.
Who can physically adapt to what we do? Who has, you know, who can install the play and
turn those plays away and then get another additional plays,
but be able to pull two plays from those other plays that we installed.
This is all part of the evaluation process of how we build our team.
So mini camp is like kind of an introduction to how training camp's going to be
very similar to what you've been doing for the last four or five weeks,
maybe a little longer at the facility.
Get the feet wet. Get in there.
Get the feet wet.
Put down a foundation.
I'm with you.
What did in, as your career evolved, George,
what did you personally look to get out of one of these?
Well, the number one thing is getting out healthy.
Always healthy.
I mean, we look at Julian Hill, Turs as a C.L.
Non-Con.
And there's going to be, they know the numbers of how many guys they expect out of their 90
that are going to get hurt because they have all the data from the last 50 years.
Now it's really, they're studying probably the last six years
because of the new schedule of, you know, when the players back.
So they adjust to like those periods of times where there's high risk of guys getting hurt.
And then you see who's there.
And then, you know, I think health is number one.
You know, early in my career, it was like a form of competition,
which is always a form of competition.
But I was trying to make the team.
Right.
So, you know, I had to know all my.
you know, my plays.
I had to know all my personnel groups.
I had to know where I had to be in the building at certain special teams.
Like all that stuff, being operation 100% on just that.
You know, and then by the time you get older and you've had a few camps in the same camps
because they're different in different places, you know, by year five,
I've heard the same coach joke.
I've heard the same introduction.
You know, so it becomes, how do I get myself better?
And with that, after every year, you know, as soon as that last game, you guys are eliminated or you win, you know, about a week after you meet with your coaches, you have your exit, you kind of go over a self-scout, you look at all your film, you determine on what you need to get better individually if you're in that position in your career where you sit there, you know, I talk to chatty, oh, all right, well, you know, a couple of these routes.
what do we we got to work are you got to work the patients at the top of the route on this route
hey let's really work on this off season get your foot you know to the quarterback on those return
routes that can really be utilized as your route you know that kind of stuff and then you go through
you know your mini camps and your oTAs and afterwards you really get to see if all that work
that you've been talking about and kind of put in since march if you're seeing progression in it
So that's what, you know, setting those individual goals, everything's pretty individual about
individually, how do I get to be the best I can possibly be physically, mentally,
operationally for when we put our pads on and we have to go do it for real.
So crisp, it's a successful camp.
If it was a crisp camp, if you saw progression in what those, those, those,
offseason goals you had were, you know, I remember getting to the end line on a, you know,
red area in cut was something I, you know, instead of getting to that end line, like positioning
of those tops of routes. I remember a lot of that. I remember, you know, in my fourth, fifth year,
I took a lot of time and I'm working that, the, the juke route, you know, really putting your foot
in the ground at the quarter back when you're coming out, like,
sitting there a thousand times and doing that movement, you know,
and then seeing it happen in an OTA practice film or in a mini camp practice film.
That's when you kind of know if it was a successful camp.
But number one thing is staying healthy and just kind of retaining and mentally picking up
the new keys for the year because there's always some kind of new wrinkle the OC brings in
after they've been studying for five weeks, six, eight weeks away from, you know, the program or the
building, every coach has something they've been working on.
And so really being able to digest that.
So I think health, what your goals were, and just being clean, you know.
So then when July comes, you're hitting the ground, running river.
So when July comes, that's when the real competition starts.
No, six weeks, baby, get that body right.
Well, whenever you hear about people like getting out of shape, it's not right now.
Usually these guys right now are probably in some of the best shape because, you know, the beginning of the offseason phase one, everyone comes back and you condition together, you lift together.
That's like a three week period.
Then it goes into like you add like a, you get one period a day doing an individual with the coach.
so then you go weightlifting, run,
and then you have like one period.
And then it rolls into your OTA.
So like you've been compounding weeks of running,
lifting, you know,
and then, you know, by the time camps are done,
you're in pretty decent shape.
Oh, yeah.
Not that much.
Not where I wanted to be,
but I was always in pretty real good shape right now.
Oh, yeah.
You know, and then you have five weeks until training camp.
That's when guys get out of shape.
Yes.
You know, you go from running every four days a week with the team.
And you get, you know, you got guys that go home and eat a lot.
Barbecue season.
It's his BBQ season.
Chilling in the yard.
Chilling in the yard.
And then they come back, you know, five, seven pounds overweight.
Oh, boy.
You know, it's more of the younger guys that aren't really accustomed to the free time.
And, you know, you usually.
Usually those guys are coming from college.
They got this.
They got that.
There's so many more things in college.
You know, becoming a professional athlete, a lot of it is how you deal with your time.
You know, and then the guys that figure that out earlier are the guys that play longer.
Time management, compartmentalization, all that, baby.
All about that.
All right.
And we've been pretty Patriots heavy here.
A lot to talk about out of Foxborough.
But we got a lot of stuff going on around the league.
So, Jules, you ready for a little rapid fire react here?
go rapid fire here. Let's go rapid fire. We got some hot topics from around the Lee.
Just want to get your gut reaction high level on them, one or two sentences. See how you're
feeling on this one. First up, Miles Garrett, traded to the LA Rams. Will Aaron Donald come
out of retirement? What do you think of the whole situation? Scripted.
It was written. It was written. LA going back. The Super Bowl is in LA again.
Yeah, I know. I know. Last time it was in Super Bowl, the Rams were there.
I mean, yeah, funny how that works out.
Funny how that works out.
The awesome, what's, I follow her on Instagram.
Is it great Kim, right?
Kim, gold medalist Olympian lives here.
Oh, he comes here.
Aaron Arnold's coming out.
This shit's scripted, bro.
No, what do you know?
This is going to be fun.
I think so, too.
You just, you know, God willing, everyone stays healthy and, you know, because you,
you always hear about these super teams.
Oh, yeah.
And the NFL is one of those things, right?
You know, I remember those, back before I was even in the league,
remember those old Philadelphia teams when they got T.O.
Yes.
They never got over the hump.
The 07 Patriots team, like, didn't get it done.
There's something about those super, what super team made it?
NFL-wise, I'm trying to think.
There's a couple.
I just don't know them off the top of my head.
Because I know all the ones that didn't make it.
But other leagues, NBA, some of those.
It's going to be fun.
It's going to be fun to watch.
is it, uh, who's the D.C.
So, so we're him.
It's Niners.
It's Shula, Chris Shula. Shula.
Shula. A little Shula. Yeah, and his, uh, third year.
What he's got this year.
I mean, he's, he's got the name.
Hey, we got our boy, we got our boy, Joe Cordon in there, too, so.
Joe, Admiral. And the Admiral is there.
Yeah, down. Speaking of Super Team.
Super team. All right. Man, I can't wait to see what happens there.
Next up, Jules. Fernando Mendoza reportedly will not take any endorsement deals for the
foreseeable future.
He's focusing only on football,
not commercials,
none of that stuff.
Thoughts on that.
I mean,
he probably already has
$10 million in his bank account
from college.
Then Bloomington bucks.
All right,
like,
the,
this is smart.
I mean,
this is something you expect of Fernando Mendoza.
Says all the right things.
Says all the right things.
All the right things.
I want him to be so good.
Me too.
Rood for a kid.
You root for him.
You root for a guy that,
like,
he literally.
anytime I hear him speak says, man, that's what you got to say.
Amen.
Although I did hear he's trying to trademark the nickname, the Nandalorian.
Weird.
I don't know if I like that.
All two Star Wars.
That's him.
That's him.
He is a little dorky.
He is.
And you need to have 30% dorky in your quarterback.
You're right.
Blending a Star Wars into your nickname as a slightly dorky quote.
It fits.
I like him.
It plays.
I freaking love Fernando Mendoza.
I think he's going to be good.
I hope he's going to be good.
I hope so, too.
Speaking of great quarterback.
It gives the template for all like us parents.
Yes.
And, you know, hey, act like him.
Do it the right way.
Go to class.
Guys, doesn't he like a triple major?
Something.
Cal, in the end, all that.
I think he is.
He actually got his degree.
Walk, graduated.
No, I think he's got like masters and stuff.
I believe it.
Dad's doctor, mom's star, tennis player.
He's doing it right.
This guy.
He's got the pedigree.
He's a political refugee out of Cuba.
I mean, he's just this American dream.
Hey, I'm rooting for him out in the desert.
Let's see.
All right.
Speaking of great quarterbacks with a little bit of dorky to him,
Patrick Mahomes signs a $500 million extension to become the highest paid
QB in the league taking over from Dak Prescott,
resetting the market there.
This was expected.
Expected.
And taking a little page from the old Patriots playbook.
Doing some gymnastics?
A little salary cap gymnastics.
Let's create a little extra room.
We know this guy's going to be around a while.
Brett Vitch.
We see you, bro.
Beach, I see you, Vich.
What's he called?
I see you, Vich.
Two degrees, three degrees.
Veach listens.
He does.
Oh, yeah.
He loves a paw.
Shout out to Vich.
I like him.
We like,
hey, we like those guys over there.
Hey, I love Andy Reid.
I got to meet them at the Super Bowl.
Big Red.
Andy pulled me over and, like, grab me.
I just wanted to hug him.
I love seeing him behind Pat and like a Hawaiian shirt.
Yeah.
Just at the sign.
He seems like a fun, awesome coach.
He'll rip your ass, but.
I love it.
You know, like, you like that.
He's the last one.
And Pat deserves it.
Oh, yeah.
Pat's going to come back.
He'll be back.
Every dollar.
Every dollar.
Speaking of legendary coaches,
Sean Peyton signs a five-year extension to stay in Denver.
What do you think of this?
I think it's well deserved.
Amen.
Look, Sean Payton was getting a lot of,
getting a lot of,
he did a real ballsy move by just the whole Russell Wilson situation.
$90 million in cap.
Gave up 70 points his first year.
Crazy.
down in Miami. Down in Miami.
And now they got like top two, top five defense.
They go to the damn, they're one game way from the Super Bowl last year with a rookie quarterback or a, you know.
Yeah, Bose is, he's found his new Drew Brings.
So it's been real fun to watch.
Sean Payton, you know, he's really all in on what he believes and it can rub people sometimes the wrong way.
But look, the guy just went to the AFC championship last.
year.
Darn right.
33 and 21 in three seasons in Denver.
184 all-time wins.
Second most among an active coaches.
That's what he's doing.
Right behind Big Red with 279 there.
Yeah, shout out Sean Payton, man.
Shout out.
Denver's going to be a force out there, man.
And he's probably loved out there.
That's a cool football town.
AFC West is getting crowded, man.
Yeah.
Denver with Sean Payton, like, that's a, I bet you he loves it there.
Oh, yeah.
They love their football.
They love the football.
It's a beautiful city.
Great food.
cool culture-ish
weed's legal
weed is leet mushrooms
I think I mean
we know Sean like to dabble
Ah we've seen the pictures
shout out
shout out
We'll be right back after this quick break

All right, next up, Stefan Diggs,
remains a free agent.
Thoughts on this?
Yeah, I mean, to probably be expected
with all the noise.
Yep.
Someone will get hurt
and he'll find himself in a good situation.
32 years old, coming off a thousand yards.
He looks like he's in shape.
I mean, I see him working on Instagram.
Grinding, baby.
grinding.
grinding.
You know, you hear the Kansas City rumors.
Hear the Rams rumors.
I don't know.
Either would be interesting.
Both would be interesting.
I mean, he still got,
he still got some tread on him tired.
The Homer and me wants them to come back to the Patriots,
but I think that ship has sailed.
Unfortunately, I don't know, though.
Yeah, I don't know.
And then moving on over to Cleveland,
we got a QB competition going down
between Shador Sanders and Deshawn Watson.
This is fun.
This is fun because Shador, I mean,
you can say what you want about Shador Sanders.
Guy makes plays and moves the ball.
I keep on hearing a lot of the analysts,
and this, that, I mean, man,
the offense looked different when he was in.
Did, had a little juice to it, a little life,
a little juice.
A little juice. A little juice. A little swagger to it.
And then you look on the other side, Deshawn Watson,
what Watson we getting? Are we getting, you know, Houston Watson?
Are we going to get Watson of, you know, last few years?
You know, he may be a little time off was good for his mind.
Hopefully get his body right, stay healthy.
This is, you know, so he's played a lot of football.
knows the game. It's in there. We've seen it in there.
So this is going to be a fun one. Todd Munkin had support for both guys said both are capable of playing winning football.
GM, Andrew Barry said everything is on the table and we got to deal with the players we have.
Who knows? Nobody's gotten the starting label just yet. We're in, we're in June here. Come on.
Yeah, I mean, we're in competition. You can't compete yet in diapers.
No.
I mean, right now it's just about learning as much as you can.
So when you can go compete, it looks good.
Amen.
This comes a year almost to the day after owner Jimmy Haslam said
that Deshawn Watson trade was a big swing and a miss.
Jimmy, hey.
Still time left, brother.
Sometimes you miss and you go again and you miss again.
You know, like in the cartoons.
Yes.
You got another at bat.
We get three strikes in here.
America.
You never know.
You never know.
Amen.
I mean, shit.
Sam Donald just won a Super Bowl.
Facts.
Baker Midfield's about to get paid.
Say that three years ago.
Literally.
He was seeing ghosts.
Now he's seeing rings.
Crazy.
So, I mean, that's literally,
that's the cool thing about this league.
Amen.
And fresh start and winning cures everything.
Big facts.
And last, but certainly not least.
Caleb Williams is the
Madden man this year with the jump man the jump throw the jump throw thoughts on that that's like a logo literally
Is he is he is he would be I don't think he is though I don't think he's Nike though is he
It's it looks like a Jordan throw like logo literally should be they're like they're like almost like
merging his one yeah he is Nike Nike like the the the jump throw the jump man right there with the
sky it's all it's a great man in cover it's insane it's a great madden cover and it's it's deserved I mean
Dude, Caleb's exciting.
And the kids love him.
They love him.
The kids love him.
I see, I'm here in L.A.
I see his jersey at, like, schools.
You know, kids love Caleb.
And he's the new age quarterback.
He's the first NIL quarterback, really.
If you think about it, so it's been, it's fun.
Let's see if he can, he can back it up again.
Get your feet on the other first and then you bring in Joe Tuny and look at you now.
Joe Tuny
Old Toon dog
Now you're winning baby
Freaking
Funny how that works out
Who's our
Our coach
Who's that over in Ben Johnson
Johnson
Whiz kid
Well you know
Now we got expectations
Like that triumvirate
Different though
It's different when you can't sneak up on fools
This is true
You got to embrace the bullseye
Got to embrace a bullseye
They're going to be bullseye
They won it last year
I know
And you still got a pissed off
Dan Campbell and Lyons
Minnesota is going to be
pretty good with
Kyler Murray, I think.
I mean, Kyler Murray is going to have receivers
he's never even seen.
Yeah.
I mean, he had
Marvin Harrison. DeAndre.
For a little while, did he? Yeah, he had DeAndre for a little
while. He had Marvin Harrison. He didn't have Justin Jefferson.
Didn't have JJ. No Jettas.
Or Addison. Or Hawkinson.
He's got some guys, man.
So they're going to be good.
And he's got the QB whisperer coaching him.
Who?
He's got his QB whisperer there.
O'Connell.
O'Connell.
I'm old as mine.
And then Green Bay.
That's a tough division.
That's so tough.
That's a tough division.
God, I wish football was here already.
We're like 80-something days away.
80-something?
NFC North, right?
Yep.
NFC North.
Routed.
I like that there's a lot of...
They've been good for a couple of years now.
They've been good since those lions got good because the Packers have always been pretty good.
Yeah, it's running that thing.
And now you got the bears in there.
Because Minnesota was dipping in there.
Like, that's a, that's a tough division.
It really is.
Everyone's got something.
And everyone's kind of taking their little turn at top of the heap here and there in the last couple of years.
A lot of parody.
I love to see that.
And speaking of, we've been talking a lot of football here, but this is World Cup season.
We've got to talk a little football.
How about it, man?
You've been loving this or what?
I have.
I'm getting into it, man.
I got a fever.
I did it too.
And it was honestly, shout out to the USA.
Unreal.
What a start.
The USA.
4-1 beat Paraguay.
Got some of our results here up here.
I know, I don't see, I'm not, I'm a casual.
Yeah.
I'm a casual, but I'm in a couple text groups with guys that think they're like Melkipers of freaking soccer.
Right.
Some tacticians over here.
Tacticians.
And I've never seen the United States beat the shit out of someone like that, ever.
Beat down.
Start to finish.
We've never seen the U.S. go out and do what.
they're supposed to do. I always remember
like even when they're better than
teams, it's always kind of a struggle. Right.
You know, I like number 20, 20s, this goal score,
Polisich.
Like he's setting shit up. They just
look good. And then the other right wing
guy is good. That was, I mean, it's been fun. And then you look at all,
look at all the Middle East teams. They all been surprising fools.
Seriously. People have been like, Egypt.
Egypt, bro. One.
Mosala, shout out.
Guitar.
Cutter, freaking went one-on-one with Switzerland.
Morocco's in there,
Tyne in Brazil.
They won, they're really good.
Great goalkeeping there.
I mean,
it's been,
it's been fun to watch.
There's been some crazy,
Japan.
How about shout out Japan?
Oh my God.
First half,
parking the bus,
11 men behind the ball.
This is going to be boring.
Second half,
two to two opens up,
crazy scoring,
awesome pace.
Against the Netherlands,
that's been one of the best matches
of the tournament so far.
Iran,
and then also,
So there was one of the Caribbean teams.
Oh, Cape Verde with Spain.
1-1.
Curisal got their first goal ever.
But one up on Germany, 7-1, but you still got a goal in there.
It was 1-0 for, I think.
Yeah, it was crazy.
Dude, like that tiny little nation up against the power of Germany, unreal.
The Germans slapped them.
The Germans, they did slap them up.
The Germans put up seven points.
That's insane.
Looks like a goddamn football score.
Or baseball score with a basketball.
Bad pitcher on the mound. Nothing, nothing, though, tying Spain.
Shout out.
No, that is huge.
Do you see the goalie?
And Cape Verdi, there's a bunch of Cape, there's a big Cape Verdean population in Boston.
Oh, like second biggest outside of Cape Verde.
Is it?
I think it is.
I just always remember seeing Cape Verdeans.
And so they got to be pumped out there.
They love it.
I'm kind of going for Cape Verdea.
Bro, their goalie.
40,000 Instagram followers?
Two million now.
No, it's up to five.
Five?
You tell me soccer in the world's game.
I mean, it is.
Holy smokes man of the match.
And with those, there's got to be some baddies in the DMs there.
Probably.
Five million.
Just do the numbers.
Just do the numbers.
Just do the numbers.
Shout out to him.
Yeah, Tom was in New York at the game, rooting on Brazil.
Got it.
We got it.
We got to, baby.
He's an honorary Brazilian.
Honorary.
Yeah, he's good in the favelas, bro.
Yeah.
I was at the, hit the game last night in Iran, New Zealand.
The favelas is probably going off.
Probably going off, bro.
What did you say?
I was at the game last night in Iran, New Zealand.
How was it?
Over at SoFi, insane, electric, all-time atmosphere, protests outside, a little scary.
Weathered him.
I was kind of like froze from him.
I was like, I thought I was in like that curb episode where Larry's right in the...
As long as you're not wearing a Spurs jersey, you're good.
No, no, no, I was good.
I have to see his Spurs.
I watched last week.
Spurs fans getting beat up except that one dude.
That one did like a 20-d-1.
Knocked fools out left or right.
Look like a damn Jason Statham.
Man, what's up with the...
Nick fans.
They're insane.
They're the worst.
Besides Sam and the Rizzler, I hate him.
It's crazy because it's such a likable team.
And then you see that shit.
You're like, get these guys out of here.
You don't know how to win.
What are we doing?
They have a one in 53 years.
I was going to say these nuts.
Gully.
Oh, like everywhere.
The Nick manny has been nuts.
It really has been, man.
And we're not even a parade day.
I mean, well, by time this comes out there,
but like that parade might burn the city of the ground.
Take your tape, baby.
How many people are going to have you think?
down the valley of whatever they call it there
they probably have a couple hundred thousand out there at least right
I mean I think we had a mill
they might have then they might be in the mills
they gotta be right I mean people even even afterwards
just outside that night going nuts
and then even went it in New York
no it's gonna be crazy
I'm like actually kind of excited to see what it looks like
even though I hate the Knicks
I just don't understand
I don't understand like
beating up school buses and stuff.
No, it's lame, bro.
And they were kind of me,
they were really bad to Blambi.
Oh, terrible.
Throwing eggs at my guy.
Like, that's so weak.
What is that?
Oh, my God.
What is that?
What if you're walking back after a loss,
going into a beautiful hotel in New York,
you feel energy.
Yeah.
And you just get hit in the back of head with the egg.
He's trying to go lay down in your four seasons bed.
And he can't hide.
He's like five feet taller than everyone.
Throwing, like, what is the,
bro?
I saw that guy throw the banana.
You see the guy throw the banana?
The banana came back?
I didn't see the banana.
I only saw the eggs.
You saw that?
The banana came back?
Someone threw back?
I've seen some just,
it's just been an absolute shit show.
And it seems so fun.
I'm just a little sad that you can't wear Spurs.
Degre.
Just trying to,
do you see the guy wearing a David Robinson jersey?
Like,
they're literally just like for the love of the game.
If there was like a group of 15 people,
I think I'm just taking it off.
Same.
I'm not trying to go a 15 one.
I'm not trying to get.
15 V1.
I'm three freest.
I'm not guise eggs on my head.
No, I'm not Keanu Reeves over here and damn John Wick.
No.
We're not, no one's coming out on the right side of a 15V1.
You're done.
You're getting your, yeah.
Yeah, no, no chance.
Really, really, really weak stuff out of the New York fans.
Somehow I expect it a little bit better.
You can't put that on all the New York fans.
Yeah.
They're not all.
It's like, it's like the whole city is turning into one of those sidewalk talks.
Because I've had conversations with a bunch of the old New York Nick fans.
Yeah.
They're all, like, pretty cool about it.
Yeah.
Like Sam's over here just cracking up on a bottle of Pappy Van Winkle celebrating at his house.
Sammy's been a real fan.
Ham.
Ham.
The group has been popping.
It's been really cool because I remember when they got Brunson is when we started this podcast.
And we were like, yeah, shut up.
Yeah.
And he was all about it.
Yeah.
Get up.
He was really all about OG.
Love the, dude.
Before this year.
Sam has been, he's called it at every step, man.
I think, I think the, I think Dolan needs to call Morrell for some upper division shit.
He must.
legit, bro.
He must.
And how smart is Dolan looking right now?
Oh, God.
The sphere is killing it.
Just won a chair.
I thought after firing Tibado last year.
Yeah, egg on his face.
I thought it wouldn't be Whimmy with the egg.
No.
Dolan said, fuck everyone.
I'm doing it my way.
We get Mike Brown on his 10th team.
Unreal.
Then when they won the in-season tournament,
he's like, yeah, we don't hang banners for in-season tournaments.
We hang them for real, we are real championships.
And then he goes, I like, geez, Louise.
Dolan, up.
Dolan is up.
after many years of taking L's.
Lots of L. Lots of Ls, bro.
Gave us a L.
Just him in his corner and we didn't let us sit
court side against the Celtics.
God, dang.
You think that band's been lifted or no?
I don't know, but I heard McAfee talking
that they wouldn't let him either.
So I did hear that too.
Doesn't let like opposing people come sit up on the garden floor.
We're neutral.
We're Switzerland here.
No, not against them.
No, we never are.
I'm just saying that so we can maybe get on court side
and then take our shirts.
Take our sweatshers off.
Then we got our Celtic shirts.
he's on. I'm out there looking like Marky Mark.
Yeah.
I'm bossing out, me.
Jersey, no shirt under it.
Doing the ball pierce.
We're just doing the ball pierce walk.
Yeah, we're out here.
Good vibration.
Coming out.
That's my walkout music.
Feel it, feel it.
That's right.
In your face, Dylan.
Man.
Damn.
It's a great summer of sports right now.
Right.
A.
That was a pretty crazy weekend.
of sports.
You got World Cup openings.
You got Knicks winning it.
You got Carolina winning it.
Crazy.
Yeah, we didn't even talk hockey.
How about, I mean.
I smoke's dominant.
Everyone was picking.
It was going to game seven.
Carolina said, no.
I had a feeling.
I thought in Vegas, they're going to push it.
I saw P.K.
talking about it.
In P.K., and then I saw Avery making fun of P.K.'s outfit.
talking about it.
BK's fits have been wild.
Dude.
It's giving Sean Avery some great content, though.
Sean Avery,
I literally just watch Sean Avery
to see what he does talk about PK's outfits.
It's the best.
He'll give him kudos sometimes.
Sometimes you'll throw him under.
He's a head.
Sean Avery knows fashion.
He's going to be a shout out Sean Avery.
You're going to be in the Odyssey opening soon.
Is he really?
He's in the Odyssey.
Wow.
God.
He may have a line.
I don't know.
I don't know.
Back-to-back Nolan bangers for Sean Avery?
I think he's got three.
Holy smokes.
I don't know.
Wow.
And he's back in Neighborhood Watch, isn't he?
Oh, full neighborhood watch.
Full neighborhood watch.
We can sleep at night.
We can sleep at night.
That's amazing.
We got to get him back on the show.
We got to.
Oh, I would love that.
He's the best.
Love Sean.
We'll have to have him bring his pointer.
His guy's been talking about the pointer for five, six years.
He invented the pointer on Instagram.
that pointer on ESPN.
I saw people using an actual pointer on ESPN.
They bit Avery. They're biting our guy. Come on Avery. Get them.
Trademarked that shit.
No, that was awesome, man. Football season is right around the corner.
Right around the corner. We got a big summer episodes coming up. It's going to be fire.
Let's go. Hey, everyone go to the ballpark. Get it all at the ballpark. Get a hot dog.
Hot dog. I had one last night and stretch. They kind of got Dodger dog-ish ones at so-fi.
Nice and thin and long. Pause.
Yeah, I haven't. I haven't been to a big.
baseball game this year yet.
We got to get out there.
I got to get out there.
Last one I went to was
probably either Fenway or
me and Lily on
Father's Day went to
the Dodgers versus Giants.
Heck, I was there. I was there with you. Yeah, yeah, you were there too.
Yeah. It was insane. Same. We were UV maxing
out there. The UV was like 11. We had
great seats, but there was no shade.
We saw Otani. It was awesome. He didn't
hit one, did he? I don't think he did.
He got up to bat a couple times, though.
They had a DJ out there
It was epic
LA's different
Yeah
It's different than when you go to the Fenway
Get you a Fenway Frank
Sit up on that moster
Lily was in there
Full behind enemy lines
Giants out
Yeah
I don't give a crap
No
I'm a Giants fan baby
For the bay
Yeah
I think I went to a Dodgers game
When they played the
Sox too
Oh yeah
That does sound right
Yeah
Look
Oh we're good in every hood
Two hats
that I love
that I've never worn.
Dodgers.
Dodgers and Yankees.
Never will.
Never will.
They are great hats, though.
They aesthetically are beautiful hats.
Yes.
Classics for a reason.
They're fucking cool looking.
But I have not once.
Can't do it.
Not once worn one.
Me neither.
Never will.
I'm proud to say.
Can't do it.
And it sucks because
like the Knicks,
the Dodgers are a likable team.
Oh yeah.
Yeah.
They spend money on them.
They got stars.
Guys you can pick out of a crowd.
I'm not putting any shade of anybody here.
Just saying it's nice to have some stars.
How are the socks doing right now?
Terrible.
Dog, absolute dog dude.
People were mad at the Henry's?
Yeah, they're mad at them.
I've heard that.
There's been any bread, firing coran, the managers.
They got, they did our boy tech dirty.
I can't, I'm not, I'm not pleased with him right now.
Did the cap dirty?
Yeah, bro.
Got him out of there.
They got like a minor league coaching staff.
I don't love it, man.
See, I don't, I don't know,
baseball. I don't love it. I mean, I'm not super, super plugged in these days just because
I'm so bummed as a Sox fan, but we gotta do something, man. We got a little Anthony, though.
We got a little Anthony, but still. Yeah, Anthony. Like, give me a manny. Give me an O-Ton.
Give me like a guy I can root for him. Maybe they got one right now in the farms. I hope.
I'm hoping, bro. God, we need some, some guys do you want to go to the ballpark and root for,
baby? Yeah. Not like some 4-8 kind of players, journeyman guy.
aligned,
uh,
bats,
all these weird analytics.
I'm like the old guys in Moneyball.
Those old guys are like,
he's got a ugly girlfriend,
he's got no confident.
Like,
that's my kind of scouting.
Yeah.
Not this blind base.
Get out of here.
Drive line.
Just hit dingers.
Get on base.
Play some small ball.
Ain't a small ball no more.
Chicks dig the long ball.
Advance him.
Yeah,
that's facts.
Chicks dig the long ball.
Launch angle.
Like,
quit using a,
Jesus.
Once we get overly analyticalized
you're not we can't we don't have to be billy mean out there should play some ball maybe i mean i feel like
that's every sport no it's absurd isn't it kind of absurd super analytical it's taking the fun out of
stuff players win games about the jimmies and joes not the exes and os a little bit of both
and the coaches will lose them yeah facts and the owners they don't spend money all those guys
jee players they get it done hell of a time of the year it is get out to the ballpark folks get out to
the ballpark. And just a quick heads
up, everyone. We're going to take a two-week break
over 4th of July. The best holiday.
Best. In the world. The best.
Only reason is because
as a football player, it's the only holiday
we got to celebrate. Like actually, yeah.
Because we didn't get Christmas or
holiday season, Hanukkah.
You really don't get Thanksgiving.
Could be chopped up because of
where your game is. Valentine's
Super Bowl. Valentine's Day, soupy.
But, you know,
Fourth of July was like always the last hurrah
before you had to get back to training camp.
What was your best one real quick here?
Just a lake guy.
Nice.
Just a lake guy.
Go to the family.
Go to the family lake.
You're laking it this year, aren't you?
Laking it this year.
Shout out.
Shout out Lake.
Not a bad spot to be for the fourth.
Shout out.
250th year of the United States.
Shout out to the U.S. of A coming up.
Let's go, baby.
Fourth of July to everyone.
Hot dogs, burgers.
American flags,
fireworks, boats, water, beers.
All the best.
All the best.
Board shorts.
Flip pops.
And we'll be back.
We're going to be back July 14th with brand new episodes.
And we got some good episodes coming up.
Let's go.
Let's go.
Football seasons are on the corner.
Baseball season.
World Cup.
Got a lot to be thankful for this summer.
And baseball.
Yep.
And baseball.
We'll be right back after this quick break.

I love the sounds, the buzzing from the stadium,
the chanting from the fans, the announcers calling the place,
soccer, football, at home.
Why do I watch the World Cup?
That's like asking me, why do I breed?
I inherited that fandom from my mom.
I like watching it with my dad.
It's a connecting force.
From Futuro Studios, I'm Fernanda Chavari,
and this is American Football,
a show about soccer culture in the U.S. and its underdog roots.
We go beyond the game.
game to the people and the stories that make it great.
A soccer game is a festival.
It's not just a game.
It's your culture.
I took an elbow to my head, which cracked my skull.
It is an American game.
The Brazilians don't like hearing that, though.
Are they the only ones that don't like that?
Nobody likes that.
As we get ready for the Men's World Cup this summer,
listen to American Football as part of the MyCultura podcast network,

Let's go.
Shout out to the Carolina.
What are they?
The hurricanes.
And the stall, borough.
Man.
Jared Stahl, whatever, whichever star was.
These hockey teams are all from the South now.
Yeah, now.
All the South ones are winning.
It doesn't really feel it right.
Florida's been like owning it.
Then Vegas.
Can we give the Canadians a win?
We gotta get, come on.
Oh, man.
Maple Lee, somebody.
And this is me and the Bruins.
How about just the Bruins?
Come on.
It's a northern team.
Yeah.
A more people actually play hockey.
Canadian team. Yankee team
above Macy Dixon line.
Anything above the Macy Dixon line.
We actually play hockey. And to the right of the
Mississippi. That's all I'm asking for. Nothing crazy.
Come on. As puck heads. That's our
one request. Yeah.
Oh, man. That was awesome.
Well, that was fun. Always fun talking.
OTAs and mini camp.
World Cup, everything.
Baseball, hockey.
Basketball.
I mean, literally, we talked about them all.
They did.
We have for the cycle.
I think we need field hockey.
