Seven turnovers. A 16-point comeback and overtime.
With a trip to the Super Bowl on the line, this is the 2014 NFC Championship.
Welcome to Games with Names. I'm Julian. He's Jack, and we're on a mission to finding the greatest game of all time.
we got a great episode with NFL analyst and certified ball knower,
Mina Kimes.
And if you haven't already drop a like and subscribe to Games with Names.
Let's go.
Games with Names,
a production of IHeart Radio.
Welcome to Games with Names.
Today we are looking at the 2014 NFC championship between the Packers and the Seattle
Seahawks with Mina Kimes.
Mina, in one sentence, why did you pick this game?
Are we allowed to cuss on this?
You could say shit, balls, fuck.
This game is bat-shit crazy.
That's why I chose it.
I mean, it is, I also personally, as someone who's from Seattle and the Seax fan,
sometimes I'll just put on the fourth quarter when I want to feel something.
You know, like, I'm probably, or like I just need a pick me up.
Do you have like movies like that that you'll put on the movie because you want to feel better?
Wedding Crashers.
Comfort Watch. Comfort watch.
Comfort watch.
This is my wedding crashes.
Like, if I'm in a bad mood, it's actually, it's actually.
not the fourth quarter, right with the John Ryan fake field goal that I think is the end of the
third quarter. I'll put it on from that moment on and just watch it through and let it ride.
It's such a exciting football game. Is this the greatest game of all time?
I'm not going to say it is in part because the NFC championship literally the year before is
probably like a better football game, like high level play. Which game was that?
The tip. The tip. The tip.
The CX, the Niners.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
That game.
Have you done that game?
I haven't done that game.
It's not as, that game's not as like fun and wild as this game, but that game was like
such high level football and that's one of the greatest like endings ever, I feel.
But for pure entertainment value, I think you can make a case.
Yeah.
I mean, it was.
If you're a defensive football nut and special teams nut, like that's what this game is.
This is a full, like, Beamer-style football game.
Frank Beamer from Votech.
Beamer ball, baby.
Beamer ball.
All right.
Yeah, we'll dive into it, but I haven't seen you since the bake-off.
Where are we at?
What's our status of a relationship since then?
Neither of us won.
So I think we're on good terms.
Yeah, I think we're on good terms.
I ran into Vaughn at the Combine, this Yvonne Miller, who won.
Much disputed victory.
Much disputed.
A lot of people said one of us should have taken it.
I don't know.
He was also preparing for that thing for weeks.
And you know what I hated?
And this is classic Vaughn.
When you,
I remember how much he prepared and how hard.
He like hired a coach.
And then on camera he pretended like he didn't.
He was like,
whatever,
I just showed up.
Did you notice that too?
1,000 percent.
And I know his coach,
Aaron May's celebrity chef.
What?
Aaron May celebrity chef made him,
we had to make a puff pastry at the first oil.
And Claire?
Yes.
She made an unbelievable matcha, Claire.
Got a handshake.
Shut out.
I mean, it is spectacular.
Paul Hollywood loved it.
And she, like, everything Mina did was like, to the tea.
It looked great.
It tasted great.
There was always a little flare like the Claire was matcha.
I mean, you killed it.
It was such a fun, it was a fun show.
It was one of the most fun side quests I've ever had.
It was so weird.
It was.
And it was cool just to be in the set of the British Bake Off,
even though it's the American Bake Off or whatever.
and be in the London environment
or wherever we were east of London.
It was fun.
There it is.
Oh, wow.
Ah, sweaty.
It was hot.
But anyway,
I saw Vaughan at the Combine.
First thing he says to me,
you still salty?
I hate him so much.
And I'm like a real...
I'm super competitive.
Oh, I saw it.
And I tried to dial it down.
I was like, I don't care.
What happens?
I'm just here to have fun.
I was so mad.
You were mad.
I could see.
I can just tell by the way you analyze football you were pissed and competitive.
You know, I wanted to win.
Fine.
Well, that's the last time we saw each other.
And that was the first time we met.
And, you know, I vote before we did it, I did my research on you.
And I started watching you on your shows.
I was like, man, she watches film.
She does her homework because she's calling out zone blitzes, cover six, cover five.
You do your homework.
Where did this sports fandom and this love of sport come from?
My dad, common answer, right?
So the reason I'm a Seattle sports fan is him.
And I didn't actually grow up in Seattle.
Arizona.
Arizona, but also all over.
My dad was in the military.
Okay.
So we, like, moved over around the country.
I lived in a million different places.
I actually born in Nebraska.
So I'm like a lapsed Nebraska college fan for that reason.
But my dad loved Seattle sports, Sonics, Mariners, Seahawks primarily.
So we grew up on a Seahawks games from childhood.
And I stuck with it because of him.
Yeah.
And you love Griffey.
Love Griffith.
Because you made the card.
I remember that in the final round.
We had to make these trading cards.
Y'all seen these.
And honestly, okay, so we had to make these three-dimensional trading card cookie cakes.
And I'm not saying mine was like dramatically better than everyone else.
Way better than everyone else.
But.
She had the stadium in the background.
Whenever I show people the photos, they're kind of shocked that Von Wan.
And then the second thing they say is Julian's is actually pretty good.
You did Joe Montana.
Joe Montana with the hands.
But you had the colors, like the green.
Well, the only reason I did the colors because remember I was struggling with the decorating.
Like my shit tasted great.
It tasted great.
The lasers on your football were so crazy looking.
So like what I did was, I was like, screw it.
I'm not going to do any more.
the pasting. I'm just going to wrap them all in that fundo or whatever the bondo wrap is.
Whatever. And so like it makes it look more smooth. But it was a little clunky. A little clunky.
It was so fun. But yeah. Griffey. Love Griffey. Griffey. So you're on a bunch of shows.
You're doing football 24-7. Like what's your process like? I'm so interested in and how did you,
how do you watch film and how did you learn to watch film? So my process is probably,
different from yours because you're on the weekends. I'm on during the week, right? Monday through
Friday on NFL Live is my main show. I do first take and the other shows on ESPN in the meantime.
So I'm not on during Sunday. I'm just watching. So we're watching my process is we kind of know
which games we're going to focus on on Monday. So we're, oh, I've always got those on the big screen.
And then I used to have to wait until Monday morning to get the tape. But now I get it almost
immediately thanks to the NFL. Shout out to the Shield.
out. So, as I'm watching the big games, usually I'll have the second, like, watch on tape as soon as it drops, taking notes for NFL live. And like, you know, it's probably similar to you. I'm just kind of looking for trends, tendencies, things that surprised me. Oh, they're rolling out this personnel grouping and, oh, they did this two weeks ago. So I'm taking notes. Sending to our producers, can you cut me this tape for tomorrow? Can you make this graphic of a stat I noticed or something?
And just kind of having that conversation going all day, getting ready for Monday.
Do you have a cowboy clicker?
I do not.
They haven't given me one.
We were for, we thought for sure.
I thought for sure you're out there with a cowboy.
Dan has one.
Oh, you know, Dio has a cowboy clicker that probably plugs into iPad.
Oh, 100%.
Yeah.
The worst is when it like glitches, though, on TV and everyone, no one knows what to do.
No.
It's so awkward, yeah.
It is a skill, though, that to use like the Telestrator and all the grass.
graphics on TV.
And it's,
and what people don't realize,
our coaches do that,
like in meetings.
That's why we try to do it on TV
to show you what it's like
to kind of install
in front of a football team.
And it's pretty impressive
to watch some of these coaches
go through with all the little tools.
I remember we got a new exosystem
and like,
it's nothing like hearing a 60-year-old football coach
yell at like a 28-year-old tech kid.
Like,
and it happens.
daily because they're trying to learn this new thing to try to make us, I don't know where I was going
with that. It's crazy how much the technology on that has changed though. A thousand percent.
Well, we, especially on our side, like what we have access to now, I started doing this
about 10 years ago, maybe a TV a little bit less than that. And it's like a little
infinitely better now and faster, like I said. Way faster. I mean, we used to get the playbooks on binders,
you know, and now after a game, everyone's watching that game.
on the plane on an iPad.
Yeah.
Which is very similar to what we can do.
We get the access to the iPads and you just...
Right away.
Right away.
And I can sort them to.
Like, if I'm like right away now, if I'm like, hey, I just want to watch, you know,
the Patriots offense on third and long, these situations, these groupings, this defense,
I can get it right away.
Right away.
That's the exos.
You guys aren't exos?
Xos.
I have a few other things.
NGS than NFL.
This is, I'm sure people are like, what are you guys talking about?
Anyways, yeah.
It's really good now.
Nah, the football heads know.
The workflow has been streamlined.
And then throughout the week, so like first two days, I'm reacting to the games.
But then I start matchup prep, probably like Tuesday evening.
So then I'm merely pivoting next week.
And I look at football really just like through a matchup lens.
So it's like a lot of matchup notes.
Weaknesses, strengths.
They did this this week, this week.
So I have notes all week that I'm kind of compiling for next week's matchup.
Has a football team ever contacted you to try to like get you to work for them?
Not really.
Would you be interested in that?
I don't know.
I love my job.
What if someone came in and say, hey, Mina, we need you to come break down film for us.
We want you to come in and...
There's a million people who are probably better at than me.
But also, like, you know this now that you're on our side, this is so much easier, dude.
Like, we can just be wrong and then...
You don't get fired.
No, you know what I mean?
Like, I mean, there is accountability.
A million people tell you you're an idiot, but it's not the same.
It's just, you know.
And there's an entertainment aspect.
1,000%.
Now, are you excited about this season or what?
I'm always excited.
What's some of the things?
What are some of the things, because you do TV year round?
Yes, we do.
What are some of the things that are the signs that football is about to start?
They smell in the air.
Well, it's where Los Angeles.
It doesn't smell like fall really.
Yeah, it smells like pollution a little bit.
Perfect weather, though.
Depends of where you're at.
Yeah, for me, well, first of all, it's like, obviously camp.
And the first, like, when you first start getting those clips, when they start hating,
of people being like, oh my God, this sixth round pick on the Ravens just caught, like, you know,
a touchdown.
This is a game changer.
Like the immediate overreactions.
I love that.
Obviously, coupled also with the immediate injuries and like, that sucks.
And like, you know, when you start really putting the pedal of the metal of the metal,
of thinking of like, who are these?
Who's on the teams?
Let me look at the depth chart.
Let me get a feel for it.
Who's on the coaching staff now?
How is Zalphamist going to change
rather than looking backwards
when you start looking forward?
Yeah, that's the thing you got,
I mean, there's such an install process
for the people that have to speak about these teams
and there's a learning process for us
because just like the coaches used to say,
there's new players and coaches on new teams every year.
It's crazy.
Sometimes you look at Tim, you're like,
oh, damn, I miss that one.
I don't even know he's there now.
You know what? There's a lot of good
I'll watch McAfee sometimes
and he does a good job of highlighting new person
You know what I mean? Just and I just see I'll even just like
Clip his his chart or his graphic
Because he has a good graphic and I'll sit and study the graphics like oh this guy's here
This guy's there
But when
So you also cover the chargers
Yeah Rams Chargers.
Ram's Chargers
Was you, were you recently at Chargers camp?
I was just a Chargers camp, yes.
Because we just merged with NFL Network.
So I was there with my guy, Daniel Jeremiah.
How's that going?
It's fun.
I love working with Daniel Jeremiah.
So it was some fun people.
I'm going to Seattle tomorrow for Seahawks camp.
That'll be fun.
Yeah, relevant.
Yeah.
Chargers camp was fun, though, because they got Mike McDaniel now.
How is that dynamic between him and Herbert and also Harbaugh?
Very funny.
I like, I don't think if they didn't,
and work together, Jim Harbaugh and Mike McDaniel would ever have a conversation.
Seems like it. Honestly, if you look at it. How much time you spent around either of them?
I've spent a little time. So I actually, I sat with Harbaugh in 13 or 14 for two hours. And we had a,
we just chewed when I was a free agent. I was going to, you know, I was visiting the Niners.
So I got to know him through that a little bit. And also we have a mentor that.
recently passed away in the last couple years that mentored both of us from Stanford,
Mr. Riyaga.
So we have a connection there.
McDaniel's zero connection.
Yo guy.
Full outsider in looking at like guy with the shades.
Yeah.
We didn't cross paths in college.
We were,
he's older than me,
but they're just really different.
At Yale.
Wow.
Yeah.
At Yale,
guys.
Sorry.
Shout out,
shout out.
We got some coaches.
Do you want to drop it?
We got some coaches now.
really do. But anyways,
they're very different.
It was cool. Everybody there was just so
excited about Miami Daniel on the offense.
How do they look? I mean, you know
football? Were they, were they dicing?
A lot of outside zone? It was just
it's just so much more motion,
so much faster. I think
they're going to use a lot more like
fullback. They brought over the fullback from Miami.
They got a really full and interesting tight ends
group now.
I like the godsend kid. He's like a fast
tight end. He's like a big H.
Then they added colar, the blocking tight end from Baltimore.
Good 12 personnel.
Dude.
I've ever seen David and Joku when he walks by.
He's a specimen, right?
Yeah, it's always interesting with footballers like,
because obviously they're all big and,
but when one who's like even different from that walks by
and you're just like, oh, like your head kind of turns a little bit,
he's that level of, yeah,
but it just seems like there was a real emphasis
on adding like some physicality to the offense.
How's our defense looking over there?
Mostly the same.
They have a new defense coordinator because Mentor went to Baltimore.
more, which I think is a big loss because he's really good. But Chris O'Leary was at Western Michigan.
It's mostly the same personnel. They drafted the kid out of Miami, Mesidor. He looks good.
I got to sit with Derwin, James. He's so smart and also so charismatic. Right? But I think,
you know, the way they've really like weaponized him is pretty cool. And O'Leary, who's a
defensive coordinator, was his safety's coach. So they have a lot of continuity. And he kind of
knows how it's been going.
I think they'll be good.
I mean, they're going to be, I think they could win the division.
Broncos are pretty good.
Broncos are pretty good.
Well, we'll see.
I will see.
I think they can vie for it.
I mean, Herbert is another level from Nick.
Is Alton Slater healthy?
Are they finally healthy?
I don't know.
The interior of the offensive line is a little concerning.
Yeah, but that's what McDaniel's for with all the gimmicks.
Yes.
All that stuff does.
does is it puts a guy in one step in a wrong position and that helps that lineman who's
kind of not the best guy. All he needs is that and we get going. Space and leverage and it really
protects the guards. And it really protects the guards. And they have really, really, really, really elite
tackles if they stay healthy. We have his, they had guys off the street last year. I know, dude.
Literally, Matt, how many games do you play for him? Four. He played four. He played four.
You look like, people always say like, oh, you're such a Justin Herbert defender. I'm like,
It was like a jailbreak on the interior of the offensive line every snap.
You know what?
I hate being a Justin Herbert defender.
I know it's hard.
And I don't want to be, but like.
Watch the games.
He's in hell.
He's in hell.
And he's also like, he battles.
And when things are good and when the offense is all together and they have protection,
he looks like a different guy.
But even when they don't have him, he's still winning ball games.
It just looks ugly.
getting hit a lot and it's not sustainable, but he is a large human being.
He is enormous. People don't realize, like, if...
Six, six, six. That's unusual. Yeah, right. Like, he's actually taller in Josh Allen.
Oh, yeah. I remember seeing him, we used to go throw at a Golden West over community college in
Orange County. I'll go throw a stafford and a bunch of guys at the Tom House Clinic.
And this big old tall kid, blonde hair, blonde hair walks in and it was, he was training. It was
Herbert. He was training for his
combine. I was like, who is this
monster? This guy, I mean, there's
a lot of large dudes. Yeah.
Like this guy just... Unusually large.
He's a big guy. And I tell you right now,
what you saw last
year, I don't think
five guys could take
that beating because he's such a
big guy that he could take the beating.
You start to worry about the accumulation.
Yeah, you do, but you hope
that they learn and
you know, with McDaniel and
Harball. They want to be a run first team. They just had to get away from it. And Hampton going into
his second year, you know, we're expecting big things. He's an impressive human being too.
If you walk by him, huh? Big calves. What do you think of lad in that offense? You think it's like a
waddle roll for him? Work in the middle of the field. Yeah. They need production out of who's
Johnson. Johnson. He needs, he has to make one to three plays a game. Yeah. And if he does that,
then McConkey's going to be able to eat.
But they got to be able to catch one to three,
maybe like in a three game span,
just to put it on tape that he can do it.
Because that will open up the field.
You know, when you don't respect that,
then McConkey, they're going to plug the middle of the field.
That's what happened last year.
And that's a lot.
You know this all too old when you're like,
oh, you're running this through the slot.
Okay, we're going to take away the middle.
We're bringing in the safety.
You're not going to get those easy linebacker matchups.
and also Keenan Allen took a lot of his.
He did.
But Godson, he had a lot of big plays because you hit those seams, you know, everyone's
plugging up in that little middle part.
Then you can high low them.
So like that could be something they can work off of.
And we'll see with McDaniels change direction and his personnel groups and his motions.
Crazy.
He always gets guys wide open.
It's wild.
Like even last year was like not a good year in Miami, obviously.
But the run game was still crazy.
And they still, you know what?
they had a lot of things going and
no one questions that he can call ball plays.
No one questions that.
I think Herbert Loki MVP candidate.
Yeah.
We'll see.
I don't want to get in there.
I'm not getting in there.
I'm not defending him no more because it's unfair.
We'll be right back after this quick break.

Who's a breakout player this year that no one's talking about?
That no one's talking about.
Yes, it's a fun one.
That was a good pick by you.
I think of guys, I've been rewatching a lot of late season games to prepare for this year,
someone who really caught my eye.
I like Elijah Royo, who's a tight end in Seattle, I think could have a bigger year.
They just, their offensive coordinator was a tight ends guy.
Brian Flurry from San Francisco.
I think he's going to feature the tight ends a little bit more.
And J. Barner's there too, right?
I know.
He's really good.
He's really complete.
I think he's like a super underrated player.
So the two of them I like a lot.
I was going to say Pierce, Pierce all that.
Now I feel bad.
I love his game.
Do you?
It's hard.
It's, you know, the.
Oh, I got one for you who I love.
I just watched him.
Parker Washington on Jacksonville.
Yeah.
Trying to think of not a student big name.
He was like a great three.
And I think like, yeah, right, because of the tension with Jacoby and John.
Jacoby going there was huge and it makes Thomas even better.
Totally.
But Parker Washington like, how's going back?
Are you watching?
His contact balance is insane.
He's like a running back out there.
And he had so many like explosives down the stretch against good like Denver.
Yeah.
It was great.
He went crazy.
Yeah.
did. I like Luther
Burden. Yeah, he's a wiggly.
I think he's going to be a good football player.
I also let, if you watch that
wild card game last year
between Bears and Packers,
I think Golden's going to be pretty decent.
Like he turned it on at the very end.
At the very end. That screen at the end, you remember that?
The screen and he also had a fourth down conversion,
like a fourth and ten where they motioned him in.
You saw his route running ability.
and I think the fact that they
let Romeo Dobbs and Wicks
they traded him away that he has to step up
and I think he had his best game
at the right time last year
to carry over to this year
that's a confidence booster for a young football player
to have your best game in the playoffs
and then have that confidence in the offseason going forward
totally agree yeah when they let Romeo leave
who I always thought was so underrated
and I think it's going to be great in New England
I thought man they must really like Golden
and also they must think
I think Watson's going to be healthy.
Yeah.
Because that's always it with him.
I mean, they just paid him, didn't they?
Yeah.
I mean, he needs to stay healthy, but he's just, he's going to be the big play guy.
Yeah.
I, you know, you don't really see him changing direction or breaking down and in the hand sometimes over the middle.
I always see, you know, he, he, that's not his strength.
His strength is let him run.
Create space for everyone.
I mean, craft to.
Craft.
Holy shit.
He needs, like, that's another thing.
if he's healthy, he was developing.
It'd be like...
So good.
Last year, he was the best tight end
until he got hurt.
And he...
Like, he was on pace.
No.
He literally what...
I think he led all tight ends
before he got hurt
in yards after the catch.
He looked like a snow plow.
Like, just freaking bowling dudes
over with the ball in his hands.
I loved him.
Yeah, he's a baller.
There's a lot of good tight ends right now.
You got Leporta.
Boughton that division.
Hockinson in that division.
Loveland.
Lovelin.
Lovellin.
in the play. You talk about playoffs. He's a stud. I saw him and A.J. Barner at the T. Swift
Kelsey wedding. Those two little knuckleheads were like tag team. They both got the invite.
I love that. I mean, Tyne and you baby. Oh, the tight end. Hey, hey, I tip my cap to try of taking
care of the young tight edge. Those two are like these two just. AJ Barner at least once a game,
the defense just forgets to exist because of J.S. N. Maybe white ass open. Literally. Also because of
is a blocking ability in the run game.
You know, and you do that, it complements those.
Incredible.
Who's the team you have your eye on?
Like a sneaky, well, Jags, dude.
Jags are one of them.
Do you think they're going to win the vision?
It's tough with that Texans defense, obviously.
And I think the Texans offense will be bad.
I think people are way too low on Stroud now.
I do too.
Because of the end.
Everyone just only remembers the last game, you know?
He's got three playoff wins.
He was good during the regular
Also that offensive line was ass
And their skill group's been hurt
And in the playoff game
You didn't have Nico
He didn't have the tight end
I think they get Dell back
He was if if Dell can get healthy
He was an asset
I know
But I like Jacksonville's really complete
I like the coaching staff
Montgomery over there now
That'll help in Houston
But it's like another year
Another offensive line rebuild
I don't know
So I like Jacksonville quietly
I'm trying to think of other teams
that I'm higher on than other people.
Oh, I kind of like the Saints.
I'm not saying they're going to like win.
I think they can win the division.
I think they can win the division is what I'm saying.
Yeah, I think they can win their division.
I went back and watch Chuck again.
The last six weeks he was MVP, no?
He looked like a pro.
That's the thing.
Like he, I know he's like 45, so that helps compared to the other rookie quarterbacks,
but he looked like so much more advanced as a quarterback.
And I feel like they did a lot around him too this offseason.
I think they lucked into him.
And you know what?
there's always the one guy
out of the group of quarterbacks.
There's always the first.
Who no one sees coming.
You know, the Brock Purdy's.
The Russell Wilson's.
Exactly.
Like, why can't it be shook?
I'm not.
I still don't know how to say his name and I'm on TV.
Is it shook?
No, it's like it's shuck it.
It's like shuck it.
Shuck it.
Yeah, it does lend itself to some good nickname.
Oh, we don't remember.
Shuck it.
Alave down there somewhere.
Now we're never going to forget it.
Now we pronounce it about a thousand ways.
I started calling myself a shuck boy.
And that's how I remembered, I was like,
where my shuck boys at and like saying that over and over.
I must shuck some clams.
That's right.
Is that what you do?
Shuck it, baby.
Don't you shuck them?
You do.
Yeah.
With the glove and all that?
Did you catch fish in Seattle?
I've done the Pike Place thing.
Did you catch it?
I caught it.
Let's go.
Of course, these hands, come on.
I mean.
It's hard not to.
They're like two feet away from you.
But is it slip?
Slipp.
No, it's not.
It really isn't.
They give you gloves.
Seattle's such a cool city.
I'm all over the place, but Seattle, that just, I remember walking Seattle.
In Vancouver and Seattle gave me the same vibes.
Are they sister cities?
They should be.
They're pretty similar.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Just like you got all like the modern.
It feels like you're almost in Tokyo.
Whoa.
Seattle's great.
And the stadium is awesome.
So right there.
It's beautiful.
Insane.
Walk there from the downtown.
I only got to play there during COVID.
That's true?
Well, I was hurt.
The four years.
before that we went. And so we played, there's no one in the crowd. Was it the you madbro
game and bust? That was not in Seattle. That was in Seattle. That was in 12. I was hurt for that
game. I was like, yeah, it's because you, you know, in different division, different conference,
you play at that place like one every eight years. I know. I just feel like you guys have played so
much, but I guess it was always. It's always, it was either playoffs and then you guys came to us after
this or after this year. 180 yards basically though that game. You and KM man. Yeah.
Yeah. That was my highest, my highest, me and Cam.
Brin Cam.
Man.
How's, iconic Patriot.
Iconic Patriot.
All time, dude.
Chinder tires one.
You know what, Cam, Cam, Cam was,
Cam is Cam.
Cam is 100% who you see that he, that is Cam all day.
This guy used to put out his fit the night before.
It was COVID year.
We didn't, like, there was no one, like.
had some wild fits that year.
Yeah, it was COVID year.
And he'd come in dressed to impress with, like,
no one couldn't even see each other.
We had to be away from each other and Cam would come in.
Do camp, bro.
Man.
All right, let's go back into time.
Let's get into this game.
Let's go, baby.
This game took place in January 18th, 2015.
And this is some of the pop culture that was going on.
American sniper was number one,
uptown funk by Bruno Mar.
Mars, number one song, true detectives with Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson.
The best season. That was the best one.
The best one.
The Vince Vaughn one was okay.
I like the Vince Vaughn one.
People's expectations for a crazy eye.
It was so bad.
They were trying to build like a development next to the real weight.
This one was so good though.
I remember so vividly.
White Iverson on South Cloud.
Wow.
Post-malone.
I used to rock.
That was a pre-game mix.
That was a where were you moment when that dropped.
now
so different now
he honestly
he just transcends
genre he's everything now
country rap
country guy mostly
he does it all
I know fashion designer
what was Mina Kimes doing in 2015
I was working at ESPN
at the time
I wasn't on NFL live back then
though so I don't think I had to go on
you want the other one with the
where you guys had the different people
a lot of that and then I was around the horn
around the horn yeah
and then I was writing I don't think
I think I recap this game. I'm not trying to remember, but I was a right, because I was more like
profiles, right? Like we were talking about destroying DeAndre Hopkins. So, actually just story on Aaron
Rogers not long after this. We talked about this game. I remember that. But yeah, I wasn't,
I wasn't on NFL live. I remember that. So you talked about true detectives. You, you,
do you watch a lot of TV too? I watch so much TV. How, where's your time? And we're,
What is your day broken down to?
So you're watching like three shows.
Not like during the season.
Like now.
Now?
During the season, I'll watch like one or two.
What's your go-to show right now?
We're watching.
On my house of the dragon.
That's almost done.
Are you on that?
No, I watched the first and last season of Games of Thrones.
I lost, I'm in between one of those.
That one I like.
I think of some, I don't know.
What do you want?
I'm on the turn.
did the terminal list,
Lone Wolf one,
like Navy SEAL stuff.
I just did 1923.
There's so many of those.
I know.
I can't keep dragging them.
It's hard,
but I like the old ones
that take place and like this one,
the guy goes to Africa and like
takes down a lion,
finds his babe.
I don't know.
It's just straight Americano history.
They always have such famous people.
They do.
I'm like,
damn, why?
Like that's amazing.
Harrison Ford?
Yeah.
I mean, I love Harry.
All right now.
And also I'm doing.
So I have Lil, my little nine year old, we've been getting into the Spider-Man.
So like we've been watching all these Spider-Man.
But we're only watching the Spider-Man.
So then like, like, you go from Spider-Man homecoming to the next Spider-Man.
And she's like, wait, Iron Man's dead.
Oh, man.
Yeah, I'm like, whoa.
And then she's like, what do you mean?
I go, we got, there's like 15 other movies we got to watch.
You can't just watch just the Spider-Man.
And she's like, oh, but this is what?
So, like, now we're on Gallagard's in the galaxy.
I'm so excited for my kid to start watching good television and not the crap he watches because
he's three.
It's crazy.
When we did this, he wasn't even talking.
Or we did the baking thing.
I was like, I got a baby.
Now he's like a freaking human who talks.
He starts preschool next week.
Oh, my gosh.
But he likes the worst television.
What is he like?
You know, like Miss, I'm trying to phase him out of Miss Rachel.
I have no problem.
I got no problems with her, but it's not good television.
television for an adult. But the thing is he's starting to get smart. So he knows I want to watch
Bluey, which did you, did you got to ever go through Blueface? Yeah, we went Bluey. Bluey's amazing.
Compared to the usual kids crap. Yeah, I mean that we were doing the, what was the
baby shark? There was like a Baby Shark cartoon on YouTube. No, thank you. Is that one worse.
No, thank you. But he knows that. So I'll be like, you can't watch TV and he'd be like,
what about Bluey? And I'm like, you're manipulative, son of a. But, um, but he's still too young
for like good stuff.
You know what?
That's the funnest part about like when they get to the age, like seven, eight.
The movies.
The movies, but they like, they, I mean, your kid's probably going to be like a genius
because you're a genius, but like they get the humor a little.
Yeah, right.
You know, like, I remember the first time we watched Home Alone and like she didn't
understand like the comedic chops of it.
And then I remember watching it with a year when like, she's like seven, like a little kid gets
kicked in the nuts.
And she's like, he he laughing.
Or like when they flip off, they're like, oh, laugh it.
You know, like all like that kind of laughter.
I can't wait to revisit like the movies from our youth.
Like, I can't wait until my son's old enough to watch the sandlot.
We, exactly.
Like how sick is that?
It's awesome for, you know what I mean?
We've done that.
We've done Huck and Finn.
Disney.
I'll tell you right out, the Disney app for all the old stuff that we grew up on.
A golden age of children's movies.
Swiss Family Robinson.
We brought it to the 60s.
Oh, it is crazy.
What's the best sports movie of all time?
Ooh.
Yeah, lots up there.
I know that's probably like a very overly nostalgic.
I mean, it's there.
I write hard for any given Sunday.
It's a great movie.
Which I think has aged really well, actually.
When you watch it now, you're like, damn, this really hits on some real issues.
No, it's, it was in.
I mean, I would say like the off-the-field stuff is probably a little.
A little extreme.
And maybe even the coaching because, like, I was always waiting for like an Al Pacino speech at half time.
I didn't get that from my guy.
He was just like, we got to execute better blocking and tackling.
Is there any football movie that you feel like did football really well?
I used to love.
Program maybe.
Rudy.
A Rudy.
And I used to love like the scenes in spring doing like the high knees through the road.
and like the soundtrack of seeing South Bend and, you know, like the fog.
I remember like being at Kent and like those early spring sessions.
It just I always loved that movie.
Takes you back.
Takes you back.
Yeah.
Rudy.
And then remember the Titans.
Yeah.
Saw that on Thanksgiving with my parents and we were all.
It's been a minute since I was.
watch that one. Yeah, it's a good one.
That was an elite substitute teacher
wheels out the TV movie.
Elite. Yes.
People don't even know what that is anymore.
The wheel out. Oh my God. I don't know.
Missing out. Oh, my God. The sub.
Those are the days. Those are the days. Oh, we're watching
Remember the Titans again? Let's go.
Yeah, right. Mina was such the smartest kid
in her class. Like, she just played like that.
Excuse me. You didn't excline the homework for today.
No, no, no. You were like the smart kid that like was
cool with probably like the dumb
kids like me that like made us like feel good that the the thing was coming in so like 1,000
percent. All right. Let's jump into this game, Jackie. Oh my God. Sorry. I'm dying thinking about
you guys in high school together there. Uh, man. Should we get into the Packers here real quick?
Oh boy. Look at these 2014 Packers. 12 and 4 started a little slow. One and two. This is deep in the
Mike McCarthy era. Nine years in. You got Dom Capers.
running that defense. This was when they ran the NFC North,
went for the fourth straight year, led the league in scoring juggernaut offense.
I mean, they put up 55 one game this year.
4,000 yard plus season for Rogers,
1,000 yard season for Eddie Lacey,
two receivers over 1,000 yards.
Jordy Nelson, Randall Cobb.
Pep came in in the offseason.
Old Pep at this point, but still a beast.
Hall of Famer Julius Peppers, that is.
Devonte Adams rookie year.
Ha, ha, Clinton, Dick, Rick, year.
He's all over this game.
All over.
Corey, Lindsay, this was a heck of a Packers squad, man.
What do you remember by this Packers team?
Well, obviously, Rogers was like a god that year.
I remember that pretty clearly.
The craziest thing was, like, thinking back to this
and remembering how quiet Devonte Adams was his first two years.
I know.
The room was so stacked.
Dory Nelson and Randall, Randall Kopp, dude, it was so good.
Yeah.
You mentioned Peppers, the addition of Peppers.
I mean, how old was he at that point?
Let me see it.
30, maybe?
Even 32.
But like still so good.
He was, he was 34.
34.
Man.
Really shows you like that position.
If you're truly elite, you can really, because of the technical aspects of it,
you can still produce at such a high level.
What's Miles Garrett?
Right now, I think he's 30.
I'm a dot.
We've got three more elite, elite years.
He's 30.
We even talk about that.
30 on a dot.
But looking at this, like, I was watching this game.
and I saw like McCarthy and Rogers
and I'm like oh they're about to do this thing again
Gracie bro.
They're about to do this thing again.
11 years later.
Look a little different.
Dude.
Young Mike Mac.
Yeah.
Young Mike Mac.
He looked good.
He looked good.
He looked good when I watched it.
He looked good.
He looked like a football coach.
He did.
That's what you're going to Michael Carter.
He looks like.
He's always, yeah.
Shell shot.
I remember vividly, though,
seeing him and Carol at the end
and he just looked shell-shock.
And we'll get to that, Blake.
He looked like he was in a fog.
Oh, yeah.
This was, and we'll get a tweet again,
but we were talking,
this was when, like,
Mike Mac clock management
was still like a little bit of a thing.
I got,
I got smoke for him on that.
If I was on TV back then,
that's the thing I would have been on the next day.
I mean,
I think a lot of,
didn't people get on him for that?
I'm sure, yeah.
Well,
because he was a play call,
right?
Because Clemens was a coordinator,
but I think McCarthy was calling plays.
Yes, I believe so.
And then maybe gave it up
after this if I remember.
Yeah.
No, that's correct.
Yeah.
Now, how do you think this A-Rod-McCarthy Union is going to be in Pittsburgh?
I think it's going to be about the same as last year.
Like.
Pittman Jr.
I mean, I like the additions.
Doubted, right?
Yep.
Friermuth.
It's like, it just has a different version of Aaron.
They get the off.
I feel like Pittsburgh never addresses their off.
They haven't had like the Pouncey twins in like eight years.
I like the team.
I just think I'm airing at this point.
It's just such a different quarterback
from the one we're about to talk about.
I mean, when you watch him here in this game,
people forget, like, he was extremely mobile.
He had a calf in this game and he was still out there.
But like his mobility was just like,
even if he didn't take off and run on you,
like the buying the time in the pocket,
the little step, the quickness,
and he just looks like a burly man.
He does.
Yeah.
You know, he looks like a freaking lumber jab.
And he throws like one.
It was in crazy.
Makes it easy.
Now, are you Lambo Field fan?
Um, as a fan of football, yes.
As a human being who sometimes has to go there in January and sit outside for two hours, absolutely not.
No.
I got stuck in Green Bay.
You remember the, like, it was like a two week.
There was issues with travel.
Like the TSA was shut down.
Oh, yeah.
I was in Green Bay.
when that happened. And we had to drive to like Milwaukee. It was like planes, trains, and automobiles
trying to get home. So I love Lambo. I love Green Bay. I love the city. I'm okay not going
there personally. Jeez. Oh, Lambo. It's so, it's such a little quaint town. I know.
Like, it's literally in the, like, like, four buildings of like an old western looking town and
then like a big stadium. And then they're like houses like 10 feet in the stadium. It's like a college town.
It's a college town. We'll be right back after this quick break.

On the new podcast Solita, we share the messy reality of traveling alone as a woman.
I can wait four hours for the next bus or this random dude is offering me a ride on his motorcycle.
I chose option B.
I'm Julie Pinero.
and I travel by myself because it's a rare space where I can say yes without asking anyone else first.
I'm on a mission to reclaim the word solita, trading the pity for possibility.
Every time I tried to be alone, I kept meeting people, and they were like, you smiled at us.
Not a lot of people smile around here.
It's when you're alone that you're most receptive to the world as it is, and not the lies you're sold about it.
It can be a time where you push your limits, change your mind,
or wake up to a new version of yourself.
So whether you're a solo travel veteran
or you're too nervous to book your first trip,
I hope you listen to Solita on the IHeart Radio app,
Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
The backers were undefeated at Lambo this season.
Crazy man.
All right, let's jump into the Seattle.
See it into the Seahawks, baby.
Let's go.
Another 12 and 14, fifth year, the Pete Carroll era.
Started 3 in 3.
you another slow start, just like Green Bay we talked about.
Finish the year on a 9-1 run.
Tied Green Bay and Dallas for the best record in the NFC.
Repeated as NFC West champs.
We got to put some shine on Young Russ,
Marshawn, Doug Baldwin, Jermaine, Curse,
and the Legion of Boom, of course.
Insane defense.
What are your thoughts of this team?
Like, you were super excited?
Insane team, obviously.
I mean, how many Hall of Famers?
That's a fun game to play,
looking at the depth chart and the defense.
I think the thing that like going back
and looking at the depth chart right now is
the stars are obviously there
but there were so many role players
who were unbelievable
on both sides of the ball
but defensively
Avril. So like as much as people talk about
the Legion of Boom, the single offseason before
where they signed Avril and Bennett.
That was like people don't realize
the reason the Legion Boom was Legion of Boom
was because they could only rush four.
Seriously. And they would get up, they would be
monsters.
Mike,
obviously Mike went to
New England for a minute.
I mean,
he's,
I think,
one of the more
underrated.
Crafty.
So crafty.
The hand,
I mean,
no pads.
Inside out.
No pads.
This guy would wear
no fucking pads.
They get smaller
and smaller
every year I feel like.
Coach has had to yell at him
one time.
He'd come out there
with shells when it's tacked.
Like he would come out
with the shells
when it's like these little pads
for a full pad.
Truly one of the more
authentically unique
personalities.
The Bennett.
The Brennan brothers are the, like, they're awesome.
They're great.
Mike's like an architect now.
Oh,
without a doubt.
He made,
we looked at his furniture when he came on.
He lived in Hawaii now.
Yeah.
He's doing it right.
And then Marty's doing kung fu.
And just being a great dad,
like little jet.
That's so sick.
His little daughter's probably 10, 11 years old now.
A couple of legends, man.
I got to call them.
Bad-assie.
Who's the Mount Rushmore of Seahawks?
Oh,
Oh, baby.
Walter Jones,
Slargent.
Yes.
Cortez Kennedy so much.
Cortez,
but like,
but like,
you guys start putting it.
I know,
I got to start putting you guys on this.
I think you got to put rest on there,
bringing the Super Bowl.
I mean,
I really do.
But then this,
how do you choose from this defense?
Like,
of this defense,
probably Sherman is the choice.
But like,
how do you try to choose Bobby Wagner?
How do you not choose?
Earl Thomas who's like the straw that stirred the entire drink. I don't know.
Cam, Chancellor. He was pretty strawy. Cam's freaking awesome, dude. I mean, they had an elite.
So you're going to go. They're so stacked. So Russell and who are, who's Walter Jones. You got it.
You got a big wall on there, obviously. Walter Jones. It's hard not to put Largent.
Largent's off. No, I'm killing me. Four is hard. And then I'll say like he's not
on there, but Marshawn Lynch is my favorite, personal favorite I'm of all time.
People love Marshall.
I love money.
Has there ever been an NFL player with more aura than Marshaun Lynch?
Especially watching, I pulled up some clips of this game, his aesthetic, the visor, the guard
out, the gold shoes, like just pure, pure cool.
You know where that aura's from, right?
He got hell emotion, he said this week.
Oras from the Bay.
That Bay, baby.
That Bay, baby.
Come all, money.
Oh, man.
He might be the most, like, naturally cool person to watch.
He's just authentically himself.
He's never changed.
He's never changed.
He's so good in this game.
He's unbelievable in all the big games.
And people forget how good Marshawn was out of the backfield catching the ball.
Yes, the wheel route.
Were you almost said?
He was too.
Yeah, yeah.
He figured.
wheeled us too.
He was big.
He's a big guy.
So I'm obviously
been around a lot of players
because of my job.
I've only been star struck
around Marshall is.
When was the first time you met him?
Like goofy ass met him in Hawaii.
I was there for,
I was calling a Rams game.
I was there with Maurice Jones Drew,
who's the best.
And again, I'm not like that
intimidated by guys.
You walk by and I was like,
kind of like.
And MJD was like, hey, he's my cousin.
You know, not really.
But he's like, you want me to introduce you to him?
And I'm like, I don't want to bother him.
My voice, like, went up like 10 octaves.
So he's like, come on, come on.
He'll be cool.
And I was like, hi, it's so nice.
Didn't I really love everything you stand for?
What did he do?
He had to say something funny.
Oh, you know, look, yes, what's up?
Kind of.
Yeah.
But I was literally so starstruck.
I was shaking.
Yeah.
So lame.
We did a, we did a shoot over the Super Bowl in Oakland for Starbucks.
And like,
talk about
Aura
Marshawn comes in
first off
he does the commercial
with a mask on
you don't even see his face
so you don't see his face
but he rolls up
in a golf cart
like
with like a
rocky crowd around him
like he's running
through Philadelphia
and that's how he rolled up
to the set
incredible once I was in Seattle
Whisk Gatles
ORA
2022
I was working the Celebrity All-Star game for MLB
and Marshawn had some role in it, I guess, afterwards.
So I'm back in my hotel, sitting inside the lounge having a drink,
and I look outside.
I'm like, is that Markhan Lynch just like smoking on the corner?
And it was just by himself on the street corner
and you could see like cars pull by
and then people be like, like as they were driving by,
like realizing it was fucking Mark Sean Lynch just standing on a corner.
I was like,
Dude.
Everyone has a great Marshawn story.
Literally.
I've told a crazy story that I won't tell again.
But my buddy essentially gave his bike to Marshawn for Marshawn's practice helmet at Cal because they were in the same class.
And he had Marchon sign his practice his helmet.
Marshawn literally gave his helmet away for the bike for the bike for a schwin or something.
Some equipment.
It's a shoot out for that.
It is full pads.
With no helmet in a new bike.
When you rode the golf cart?
Who doesn't?
That's why we were doing.
Iconic.
I mean, ghost riding the whip.
He's so cool.
Anyways, this team rocks.
I mean, look at it.
Look at the depth charts.
It's insane.
It's insane.
This was like early Russell Wilson and like,
he was like at the time,
the office, you know,
it was like a run first offense.
But he was really efficient.
And it was, I think next year was when things
really started to pop off for him.
Well, he was very efficient.
And, you know, you look at that long third down.
Yeah. Oh my God.
Oh my God.
Oh my God.
See, that's when this is when his niche was created.
Like the crazy.
The two-point conversion.
Well, the sit there by time in the pocket.
Offensive line or defense aligns not rushing him,
daring him to throw in the pocket.
And he would do, he would run like 20 yards in like a little box,
you know, back and forth just right here.
And it always get that second play.
and he, like, he was known for this.
Yeah.
And it was so crazy, and we'll jump in.
But, like, the stereotypical Aaron Rogers get a guy jump off sides.
He hits that at least once a game.
Yeah.
You know what I mean?
We used to have a cadence called Green Bay.
Really?
You're supposed to snap it on it because he was so elite at the cadence.
It is so annoying.
So annoying.
Such a tool.
He still does it.
Such a tool.
But you have lost it.
Yeah, but they've jumped off sides because you got to be a practice.
got to know the cadence.
You got to be there.
But he's been doing it this year.
He's been doing it.
This is also watching back this season,
the play action,
Russ,
play action Russ back then was unbelievable.
Moonshots.
Unbelievable.
Those moon balls, bro.
Play action offense for like four years in the NFL.
Man.
All right.
What's his game lead up?
All right.
We're getting in the playoffs now.
Seattle was the one seed,
beat Carolina.
Green Bay was the two seats.
This is back when the top two teams got by.
So they both got buys.
And they ended in the Green Bay game
leading up to this.
That was the Desk,
Caught it game.
We all remember that one.
Oh my God.
Beat Dallas 26, 21 in the divisional round.
Mina, do you remember that that day has caught it moment?
Yeah.
I mean, he caught it.
Let's be real.
You know what was crazy about that game?
I remember too.
Devante Adams went kind of crazy.
Oh, yeah.
Because he was like, he didn't do much.
He was still like jumping in the league.
Yeah, and he went kind of nuclear in that game.
I remember being like, okay, Devante Adams.
I didn't really have like many opinions about you.
Yeah, I remember the calf thinking
That would be really helpful for Seattle
Just because of what you talked about
With Rogers and his ability
And when it did help them
Because he wasn't as mobile as what he was
At this time of his career
That's true
That was big and this is also a week one rematch
Seattle busted them in week one of this season
36, 16
That's right
And if you look back, it's a weird
I don't know I mean as a Seattle fan
How you consider this but like
There's a little bit of a weird
rivalry between Seattle and Green Bay.
Well, because that, the week one rematch was the Hail Mary, the Fail Mary rematch.
Yes.
With the fake refs.
Yes.
The replacement refs game.
It was the first time they had played since that game.
Iconic game.
It was like, we're going to get him.
This is revenge for that, you know, bullshit like Fail Mary.
And then Seattle just smoked them.
Yes.
And Golden Tate, not on the team anymore.
I think he was on the Lions, right?
That sounds right.
Yeah, right.
Yeah.
He was a really good football player.
I love Golden Tate.
Great player.
Legend.
bro. Yeah, I remember running routes with him once.
His dude rolled up in flip-flops.
I'm sitting here like,
what the hell? How is this guy so goddamn good?
He rolled up and you know, you, you met Golden Day?
And so you know his like attitude.
He's a bit of a goofy dude. Yeah, you know, he's got like his little attitude.
I'm like, and then we started getting into it. I was like, all right, he's, you know, but I mean,
he has like such a nonchalant kind of attitude.
He was really good.
But I felt like that ad to who sometimes translated onto the field
because sometimes he'd just run in the wrong direction for no reason.
But then sometimes he would get the ball and then break a tackle and take it 80.
He had such crazy plays.
He made such elite plays.
He would taunt.
He'd get so much now.
I remember he was the one we would be like laughing.
Have you ever seen the video of him in college jumping into the marching band?
I think about that video maybe once a month.
Him and Jimmy Gloss in their name were unbelievable.
He just goes, you like this full-on body slam into him.
If you've never seen it.
Pull it up if you haven't seen it.
Incredible.
And then one other game in this weird little rivalry is back in 03, the Matt Hasselbeck.
We want the ball.
We're going to win game.
This is the first playoff meeting since then.
That was crazy.
That was crazy.
We want the ball.
We're going to win.
Tough look.
Come on, Matt.
Oh, man.
So this is the first time meeting up in the playoffs since then.
Isn't it?
Like, I played.
in the air where if you kicked a field goal and you win.
But doesn't it seem like absolutely bananas now?
Yeah, it's like going to back and like seeing Aaron Raj on the sideline looking
mad because he's not going to get a chance.
I mean, it's like, oh my God.
So many games could have been in a different.
It's insane.
Pardon me.
I don't know.
But that's like hockey with like their new.
The three on three thing or whatever.
Don't they do an overtime different or they don't play the overtime?
I heard, I don't know.
We're not puck heads over here.
But yeah, they go three on three.
We're kind of puck heads.
We are kind of sort of.
We're kind of.
We're kind of.
We know all ball.
So, Jack, you get in the game.
We got to get into this game.
I mean, the story of a lot of this game in the first half, especially the start, is turnovers.
We trade interceptions to start this thing.
Then Seattle ends, or Green Bay capitalizes on the first one, gets a field goal.
Then we get a special team to fumble on the kickoff.
Not great.
Another field goal.
But there was a great goal line stand there from Seattle.
But if you watch this game, the first quarter, Seattle.
like was giving the ball in the red area.
Yeah.
And the defense actually was playing lights out.
Lights out.
They had goal line stand.
Cool line staying.
Kuhn couldn't get in there,
punching in.
Like the first,
they were standing strong.
The Rogers,
because Aaron Roger never throws interceptions,
right?
But the Rogers interception,
I think he was thrown at.
So that was interesting too,
because if I remember quickly,
it was Sherman right on Adams, right?
Yep.
Yep.
So you remember that Ciac's defense,
just cover three,
bump and around,
they played sides.
So teams were always like,
sacrificing guys to Richard Sherman, basically like, okay, cool, you're not going to get the ball.
I think actually the first time these teams played, I don't think Richard Sherman got thrown at like
once in that game. So then he gets the match up with Adams or Devonte who's been sacrifice,
you know, he's going, and I remember being like, oh my God, Rogers is actually doing it. He's throwing
a Richard Sherman. And then he makes an incredible interception. Incredible. All time. Cover six.
We call it cover six is because the safety goes down to the tight end side, which makes if the safety
came down, we would call it Cover 3.
It was 66 because it's Nickel.
Or, you know, a lot of times they wouldn't even
match and they would just play cover
six and leave their base
defense in there even if you brought a nickel
and do what they did. Seattle wasn't
like a complex team, like
defensively. When you played them,
they did what they did.
You knew what they were doing. They just
executed it so well and everyone
was always in the right position and they were
on a line together where it was hard
to be. Isn't that a little bit of a tangent?
It wasn't a wild going back and watching the defense
and then watching the Seattle defense now.
It's like,
whole different sports.
Different sports. Yeah, it's just a, it's a different.
Flexity, all the rotations, all the disguise,
all the simulating pressures.
And more dbs.
Yeah, there's a lot of more smaller guys
because there's so much, like,
how the game is being played.
But it's swinging back.
A little bit.
Sherman's huge, too.
That was the other thing.
Because Devanti's big.
And Browner.
Yeah.
Before that.
You know what I mean?
When they won the Super.
We had Browner this year.
Yeah.
We took him.
Right.
Right.
Like he was a large, he was 6-4.
Big guy.
Big guy.
Big got 6-3.
I mean, not to rub salt in the wound here, but the Malcolm Butler play, Brandon Browner was huge on that.
Huge.
Jamming, man.
But get down 16-0 in the first half.
But like we said with these goal lines, it's kind of like not that bad, given how many
turnovers we had and how many times they had the ball in the red area.
16 ain't awful.
More turnovers in the second quarter.
We got 14 plays, three interceptions in those 14.
Seattle, Green Bay, another one, then another Russ one.
In the half, 16, nothing.
Can't get much going on offense.
Not great.
Are you thinking at this time, as a fan, not an analyst, as a fan, not an analyst?
The game's over?
I thought the game was over.
Half time.
I think, yes, I thought the game was over.
Especially with Wilson being so young, and I was like, you know,
And if I remember correctly, at least one or two of them were tipped, right?
Yes.
I don't remember, because like I said, I don't rewatch the first half when I rewatch this game.
Well, he threw in a double coverage a couple times where like it was like that cover four look where the safety bites down but kind of played them and they were trying to hit the post.
But the guy came back and there was like two guys there.
And who tipped it?
It was, I, I, it may have been ha ha ha.
Okay.
Or the safety and ha ha ha picked it.
Burnett, maybe.
Yeah.
So, yeah, I think it's funny because if I was watching it now for work,
purposes, the thing I'd be writing down, ready to hold on to is like, are you kicking these
fucking field goals, man, at the goal line. And like, we always, nowadays, obviously, it's
being a different sports in terms of how coaches approach that, right? But like, we always
rail on teams where they go for it and they don't convert or whatever. These are the games
that, like, this is why. And I understand they're probably thinking elite defense,
inexperienced quarterback, whatever.
You got Aaron Rogers.
First of all, you're taking the ball out of his hand.
He took the ball out of his hand so much in this game.
I know he's hurt, but like,
did, like, look, do you not feel that Mike McCarthy really was way too conservative
as a play caller?
Forget the game.
Just not going for it.
You know, I'm, I'm an old school guy.
I had a feeling.
I am not necessarily, because I think those are wins.
I think that.
Clearly not.
Yeah, but they also, they also.
They needed those, they could use those touchdowns.
How many turnovers in Green Bay have?
In this game, they had three.
You know what I mean?
So, like, they had an opportunity to, like, sometimes when you kick a field goal,
this is my argument for Motor City, Dan Campbell.
Like, when you're the hunter, you can do that.
You can act aggressive and you could do that and you could be that.
But when you change and your team evolves, you need to, like,
play out what it is going on throughout that game.
So like sometimes when your defense or your offense goes out and they have a long drive
and they get stuffed on the one yard line,
you didn't win the drive.
You left the momentum to the other team regardless and then they're going to pun it.
Sometimes when you go down there, the defense, you know, you kick the field goal.
It's not a win, but it's not a loss.
You're getting points.
and then also your defense feels a little, you know,
they feel a little win too.
I'm just saying how I felt as a player.
Well, actually, you know what?
Let me give it to how I felt as a fan.
Because I was relieved every time they kick the field goal.
And I feel like as a coach,
you should have an opposing fan.
You're like, what do you want me to do?
And I would have been like, kick the field goal, kick the field goal.
Yeah.
You know, because if you go for it and you don't.
I know.
And they already stuffed them three times on the one yard line, like three or four times.
Now, we have a young Devante Adams.
Oh, you got Jordan Nelson.
You got Randall Cobb.
Yeah, but these guys, like this defense was like super long and big and just strapped down on you.
Weakness in the slot.
Get them with a little pivot.
Come on.
They have guys.
Edelman special.
Like, what are we doing here?
I mean, I just feel like, okay, back them up the goal line.
Even if you don't convert, this offense has been cheeks.
Make them.
they'll probably fail again, and then you have great field position,
you can keep going for it.
And by the way, let your freaking Hall of Fame MVP quarterback throw the ball,
which later on is another thing with Mike McCarthy,
where they went run, run, run.
I was just like, I was so happy that they did that.
Every time they took the ball out of error,
which is Rogers' hands, I was thrilled.
Eddie Lacey was bumbling, rumbling, stumbling a little bit in there, James Stark.
Good player.
I'm just saying.
I'm with you.
I'd rather have him get the ball in Aaron Rogers.
Bags.
Yeah, but the flow of the game.
Yeah.
Just speaking of cheeks, like Mina just said,
perfect term for this.
Russ at halftime,
two of nine,
12 yards, three picks.
QBR,
I'm not a big QBR guy,
zero point zero.
Crazy.
Like if they,
if Green Bay would have played
the game the way they were
supposed to,
it wouldn't have been a game.
Oh.
Even with those,
those field goals.
Then it comes down to
situational football.
Then it comes down to
the third downs,
your four point plays,
your third downs in the red area.
Seattle just beat them
at the end with all that.
There's so much.
many mistake. Greeny makes so many mistakes.
You know what he means? But like, that's how they
like to play. They like, they've always been a
front running team that likes to play from ahead.
Yeah. You know what I mean? So they can
design their gimmick defenses and have their exotic
looks and stuff on third down, which is
the premium down for them. You know, that's kind of how their team, that's how
Mike McCarthy tries to play. Yeah. I,
I think that Dom, the defense deserves so much smoke
in this for the sake, like going back
and rewatching. Plaster.
Like some of the mistakes they made
because I think, oh, I'm talking about Boston.
There's so many guys you got blaming this.
And I feel like there's some other people
who deserve me a little bit more.
We'll be right back after this quick break.

On the new podcast Solita, we share the messy reality of traveling alone as a woman.
I can wait four hours for the next bus or this random dude is offering me a ride on his motorcycle.
I chose option B.
I'm Julie Pinero, and I travel by myself because it's a rare space where I can say yes without asking any
else first. I'm on a mission to reclaim the word solita, trading the pity for possibility.
Every time I tried to be alone, I kept meeting people and they were like, you smiled at us.
Not a lot of people smile around here. It's when you're alone that you're most receptive to the
world as it is and not the lies you're sold about it. It can be a time where you push your

I hope you listen to Solita on the IHeart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your

Oh, postick off the hands.
Oh.
Yeah, but to get there, speaking of mistakes and speaking of turning the tides, Seattle comes back
to life when there's second drive in the second half.
11 plays, 78 yards, six minutes ending in a fake fuel goal touchdown.
extended by that huge third 19, 29-yard completion of Doug Baldwin.
Then we end with the infamous, infamous John Ryan to Gary Gilliam Tidy, fake field goal.
What a, what a gutsy call.
I mean.
One of the great sports photos of all time, first of all, you got it there.
John Ryan.
I can't look at that and not laugh every time.
AJ.
Look at John Ryan's face.
I see it.
So great.
Poor AJ Hock, by the way.
God.
I think he's doing all right.
I think he's doing all right.
I think all AJ.
I got carbon-and-a-rock and a hard place there, bro.
Man, that, I mean, this game had it all.
That felt like, that felt like the turning point.
Couldn't believe they-in-belief, baby.
Do you think that was a turning point?
Just for momentum, at least.
They got a shot.
They got a little shock.
Yeah.
Like, what would you feel like if you were on sideline
and something like that happened?
Like, I hope this doesn't turn into a snowball.
Yeah.
Like, someone's got to, like, row.
Someone's got to, let's, let's, let's.
Hey, settle down.
Let's make a freaking play on offense and shut them up, please.
Yeah.
The 3rd 19 is crazy.
Crazy nuts.
Can we give a little love to Doug Baldwin?
We were talking about that roster.
I think one of the most underrated players in NFL history.
1,000% made a lot of big time plays in this league.
In big time situations.
I'm sure you were a great appreciator of his game.
I love so many things he did.
I always loved his releases.
He was so good.
He was always crafty.
He made contested catches a lot.
in traffic.
He could actually run
on the sideline and be a go
50-50 ball like early.
He did a lot of that.
He judged the ball very well.
Like he had great body control.
He had all the things you needed to have
for a smaller receiver.
Tough.
Would block in the run game.
Doug Baldwin, I mean,
he's a stud.
He's a Super Bowl champion.
Oh, yeah. Good reason.
So tough.
Yeah.
I remember being like, I can't believe that happened.
I still didn't think they were going to win.
So what happens after that?
Then we get into, I mean, yeah, like we get into the fourth quarter.
Another field goal gets up to 19 to 7, a couple of puns.
Then with, I mean, five minutes left in the game down, down 197, another Russ pick.
You think it's over and then they go down.
They don't run it back.
Remember they?
No, now, no.
Situational Football 101.
Yes.
I mean a Kimes.
Who was, it was Burnett?
It was Burnett.
It was Burnett.
Yeah, dude.
I mean.
Go down?
I don't say, no.
Well, he probably, okay, like, I almost want to rewatch it because, like, how many yards would he have, because I don't think he would have, like, scored or anything.
I think he had a little room in front of him, because he got her about the 50s.
He had like, at least 15.
Had some green grass, baby.
You definitely try to pick up more yards than that.
But I remember, who was it?
Not Clinton Dix.
He was a rookie.
I remember, like, he was being yelled at to go down for sure.
I don't think they were prepared for it.
Yeah.
You know, that's totally.
Or they, they.
Wouldn't happen in New England.
Well, the thing is, or they overthought it.
They were over prepared for it.
You know, because it was, it was, what is it, 404?
Yep.
That's way too much time.
Yeah, you know what I mean?
So, like, you tip your cap for the guy thinking he's trying to do the right thing.
Yeah.
But he, you know, sometimes it's, it wasn't the right thing to do.
No, and then they get the ball back, go three and out, only eat up a minute and 12.
So that's when you get mad.
Run, run, run, right?
Yes, yes.
I remember me so thrilled.
Eddie Lacey, Eddie Lacey.
Again, thank you for taking out.
out of Aaron Rogers' hands. Mike McCart.
So what was it a gain of what?
It was a gain of negative four yards.
Three plays, negative four yards.
You eat up a minute, 12. That's it.
Then Seattle comes down.
Seven plays, 69 yards.
We got this thing at one score game.
That is conservative.
That is the most conservative part of the game where we would have been different.
We would have probably spread it out and ran our best plays to get a first down.
It wouldn't have been run, run.
I could specifically like see it in my head, like Bill,
And tell him Bill, like, run your best plays.
We need to get the first down.
Time, not in essence.
It's a first down.
Mike McCarthy, I hope to get three times in a row.
Thank you.
The next offensive drive.
Okay, so it's not just this drive,
but I remember this third quarter once they actually started moving the ball in offense.
The one thing that really shocked me,
and every time I rewatch it,
is the Green Bay defense looking utterly unprepared for Zone Reed.
It's Russell.
It's 2014.
Russell Wilson.
Yeah.
It's what he does.
And like, I think in the first half,
he wasn't successful carrying,
he wasn't good in anything.
But like, they were just crashing.
Wasn't even like a linebacker scraping nothing.
Yeah.
Over and over.
I think he ran it like six times or something.
And they just had, they were just like,
go.
Like, isn't that crazy to you?
And then the last, that's how what they scored on, right?
Yeah.
Like untouched.
Untouched.
Isn't that nuts?
That is.
And you know, that could be a, that could be,
that could be a case of Green Bay having it in the field,
covered, maybe covered in the field.
They didn't have a cover in the field.
There was like one of them went, he had another one.
Did he have another one?
Somewhere like, like, maybe outside the 30s just crashed, wide open grass.
I remember us preparing for it.
after this.
And then we get to the onside kick.
Do you, Jesus,
two minutes left?
Do you kick it long?
Or do you try for the onsite kick?
Go for the onside kick.
And of course,
it was the right move looking back.
Off the hands.
Oh, my gosh.
How many timeouts?
I think we had two.
Let me double check.
Green Bay had three at the time.
Yeah.
I mean, you got to go for the onset kick, I think.
No?
Yeah.
I will have your thoughts on the onside kick.
Yeah, well, the guy who if you're boss.
Touched it.
He's a frontline defender.
He's got to.
You know, you're supposed to block.
Jordy Nelson is the only one
is supposed to touch that ball.
So you think because it bounced?
Doesn't matter.
That ball can do anything.
His job is not to even look at that ball.
His job is to hit R4 or R2,
whoever his guy was, the guy who tipped it.
Because the job.
But Matthew's got,
or was it Chris Matthews who recovered it, right?
Yes.
So he got, he was like right there.
You don't think he was like,
he's so close to the ball.
I know.
Oh, yeah, right.
So if he didn't hesitate, so what the job is on that play is,
Jordy Nelson's supposed to touch the ball no matter what.
You guys are supposed to be the line.
So when they're coming here, you're supposed to go there.
I don't care that it's at your hands.
I don't care that there's a defender like two feet.
It's like we, and you practice it over, like,
because that ball right there will pop right next to you.
Especially for who, who kicked it.
Hushka.
Hushka.
Yeah, they only had one time out of the time.
So you had to kick it.
So, like, in theory, if you're a front, I mean, that's how we taught it.
I don't know.
It could be different if that, but like, only two guys are supposed to touch the ball.
You feel bad for him, washing it.
You know, afterwards, you know, like, they kept cutting to him.
Oh, I know, sitting just so low on the bench.
Good guy, Randall Cobb, all-time good guy walking over, comforting him.
You know, that's, that is tough.
It's tough.
It's not just you, Brian and Boston.
No, there's, I mean, you're not the only one.
done it.
But that's,
that's,
that's,
that's,
that's,
that's,
that's,
that's what you're
trying to do
if you're the
kicking team is to get
one of those guys.
If you put a ball,
just like you said,
and words right next to you,
you know.
At its highest point there,
yeah.
Man.
And then it becomes,
you go from down 16,
nothing at the half.
Let's try to get back
in this game.
Now it's,
oh my God,
are we going to score too quick.
He had a big rust run for 15,
then another run,
then an eight yard pass.
Then you get the 24-yard touchdown
run from Marchon.
44 seconds left.
It was a little bit of the time.
And then it's a two for two.
The two point inversion, we got to talk about that.
Luke Wilson?
Like, how many things had to happen for this to happen?
It's so insane.
The ball, so for those of you forget, you know, Russ is flushed out, rolling right.
He's running around, like, you know, Russell Wilson style.
Everyone was thinking it.
All the C-Oxford receivers on the rest of.
He throws that thing up there.
It must have hung in the air for like 20 seconds.
Also, how does Hawa Clinton Dix not get a hand on it?
I don't know, but we were watching, there's some cut up.
Oh my God.
Dion was so bad.
That was when Deion was in the booth for him.
He's like, hey, man, I get this bad.
He doesn't even play the ball.
He just stares at it.
And he was so good in this game, I feel bad.
He had two picks.
I know.
He's a rookie, but you watch that back.
You're like, talk.
What?
Yeah, it's one of those where he misjudged.
It was such a.
It was just like,
no, it's just one of those plays where it's such a cardinal
sin for the quarterback to do.
He probably, like, got so excited and misjudged it.
It's like a Hail Mary two point a time.
Yes, literally.
The craziest way to put it.
It almost, like, made a left hand, like, it almost at the very end was like,
whoop, we're just going to go over here real quick.
Man.
What a throw.
All right, and then so they score, they make it a three point game.
Yes.
And then Aaron Rogers gets the ball.
Comes down in no time.
Gifty notch.
It sets up his man, Mason Crosby.
Now you say, Mina's probably like, okay, well, why weren't they just given
this the whole time like this
because it's a different
defense that he's going to get.
So of course he's going to be able to execute a two-minute drive
when they're going to play like two coverages.
It's a different situation.
And he's on one leg scrambling to pick up the first down out there.
Aaron was gutsing it out, man.
Zing that one of Jordie.
Zinged it. I mean, set him up, got in there.
And then we get in overtime,
win the coin toss.
Walk off, man.
What a play.
Holy smokes.
35 yards.
Jermaine curse.
Curse had a playoff.
He sure good playoffs
because he made crazy catch
in the next game.
And then Chris Matthews too.
He was big in this one.
Shout out.
Or I mean in this playoff run.
Germain curse like low key
could have gone down
as like a post if
I mean nothing happened after this game
the NFL season ended right here
so which is awesome.
But hypothetically if there was another football game
and hypothetically if Germain curse
made an insane catch in that game
it would be one of like we would talk about it
forever.
It's insane.
He caught it with his, you know.
And I, yeah.
And it would have nicknames.
They'd build a statue of it next to the Marchand junk leap.
Like, but this, this, I remember, um, the game winner because it was weird, dude.
Like, they kind of zeroed him, but then kind of didn't.
You know what I mean?
Like the pressure was odd.
Yeah, they, they tried to confuse him.
Yeah, like do both at once.
Yeah.
Like guys were, because they wanted to spy.
him. They were spying all game.
Yeah. I mean,
he got inside and he made a play.
It was just kind of like a jump ball.
It seemed like zero because there was no help.
And they were in low, what are they in the fringe?
They were like on the 35.
Yeah, like some, because yeah, some of the Packers like,
I don't know.
There was a few Packers defenders where I was like,
I don't know what you're doing on this.
Yeah.
That's a tough way to go.
The momentum had by then shifted.
Yeah.
Back to back. Big, Pat.
Big Doug Ball.
one than another one to end it.
So two big plays in a row.
Man, walk that thing off.
That is an exciting football game.
What an unbelievable game.
Improbable after improbable.
Just incredible.
What a great rewatch too.
That was so fun.
Seattle wins this thing 28, 22.
And as Mina said,
the season ends right there.
What a great season.
On to the next year.
What a great way to end the 2014 NFL season.
Amen.
And like Mina said earlier in the episode.
Oh yeah.
We'll bring you by this one real quick.
Mike Mac did give up offensive play calling
duties the next year. Three more years for him in Green Bay. Green Bay has since lost three straight
NFC championships. And then Seattle, 2025, would get their second Super Bowl in franchise history.
Did you get another tat? I didn't. Okay. Yeah. Plans? Or no?
See, because this one I like, because you can credibly claim it's anything. And if I had two,
I feel like I couldn't be in denial about it to my child. I feel you. I don't have a lot of
real estate on these guns, you know.
I feel that. No, no, no. Just
just had to ask.
Oh, man. What a game.
All right, let's name the game. We got a
group of names that we came up with. If you have a
specific name that you call it, we can
use that, but we came up with the comeback game.
Turnover Fest
2K-15.
Ball Security in Seattle.
The Onside Kick game.
Or anything else. What do you like
to call it? I like the Onside
Kit. It is one of the all
I feel bad for Bostic.
I'd like to pay homage to John Ryan,
who I believe to this day is the only punter
who's ever thrown a touchdown in a championship game.
Yeah.
I believe so.
He has to be.
We gotta give John...
One of the only Canadians, too.
Canadian folk, huh?
Canadian, eh?
Hey, eh?
Build the statue of John Ryan going...
The John Ryan on sidekick game?
Ooh, I like that.
Yeah, special teams.
So what do we got to call then?
I like that.
The teams game?
The special teams are special and no one ever thinks about them until they get kicked in the face.
That's what we're calling it.
Which one?
I like, I like the, probably the comeback is probably the right way.
This is true.
The comeback.
I mean, it's an insane comeback.
I'm sure the win probability chart was like, I think it got to 99.8 at one point, yeah.
Did it?
Oh, yeah, it did the, and then they like dipped and then they were reversed.
There we go.
and you see those little charts.
All right, let's score the game.
Is this the greatest game of all time?
Let's score it.
Mina, decimals are encouraged.
This is one through 10?
1 through 10, 0 to 10 decimals encouraged.
10 being unbelievable, zero being, you don't know what you just watched.
Stakes, 0 to 10, decimals encouraged of this NFC championship game.
I mean, I'm going to go 9.5.
I like that.
It's not a Super Bowl, which dings it a little bit, but arguably,
altered the course of NFL history by setting up Tom Brady for another win,
setting up one of the, well, we don't have to talk about that game,
but Aaron Rogers, arguably, that was probably his best second shot in Green Bay there.
Who did you want more?
Probably Green Bay.
That defense, I mean, yeah, yeah.
The defense was really good.
But, you know, we were also, it was like, do you want to play a really elite defense
or do you want to play a really elite quarterback?
So, like, when you play the Packers, you know that you're playing.
And Russ wasn't really Russ yet.
And we always kind of played those kind of quarterbacks,
decent younger quarterbacks.
You know, Aaron had been around the block.
So I was hoping, I really didn't know who I was hoping.
I was just like, I don't know if I don't want to play Aaron Rogers,
but Legion of Boom is tough.
Yeah.
I don't know if I answered the question.
No, no, I think there's, you're right,
elite defense versus elite off.
A difficult decision.
But you look at the offense of Seattle.
There was no like walk in the park.
For me, I'm going to go 9-5 as well.
NFC championship.
9-5.
I went 9-1.
We're in the same ballpark.
And then, you know, we had Michael Bennett on here to talk about this exact game.
He picked this game as well.
He gave it a 10.0.
10.
So we're including his score in our chart as well.
Okay.
The star power of this game.
We did talk a lot of Hall of Famers.
So much star power.
I'm going to go 9-8.
That's a great.
Yeah.
Quarterbacks, you got elite quarterbacks.
I'm going to go with the 9.2.
9.2. Love it.
Anti-defense.
Oh, I don't know.
I went 83.
My, uh, Bennett went 9.0.
I always want to say Marty B.
Michael, Michael, Michael, Michael.
I was going to call him Marty.
You'd you up over that.
I know.
He probably will.
I'm scared of him.
The gameplay of this game, unreal to watch visually in the last two,
five minutes.
As a fan, I mean, holy smokes.
Zero to 10 decimals.
9-9.
Only dinged because the first half is not as enjoyable.
For me, I got to bring it down to
an 8-2 then
because I am an
offensive guy but I am a teamer.
That's why they did.
I loved watching it.
Jack, what did it? 8.4?
9.5. I don't know why I had a 6. What is going on with me?
I'm the Russian judge. I'm not the Russian judge. You're the Russian judge.
I appreciate good ball. I'm a stranger to an 8-4.
Mikel Bennett. I always want to say
he had a 9.5.
It is a teamer. Would you say this is the greatest special teams
post-season game of all times?
especially when you factor in the like all of it the Ryan the kick the onset
I mean it's up there like as far as you look at our Super Bowl our Super Bowl that we won
and that I got MVP in against the Rams our special teams were elite like Ryan Allen had like
four or five inside the 40s slate had some unbelievable tackles like as a justice that was
really good but for like the glitz and glamour of like big plays 1,000 percent
this has got to be in the talks, right?
Because like you're getting an on-site kick.
You got a fake kick.
There's been some other, I mean, the Super Bowl in the Harbowl
where he opened up the second half.
Or no, was that Sean Payton.
John Payton.
John Payton, right, that was pretty crazy.
That Hank Basket, one of the Hank Basket, yeah.
Yeah, that's true.
That was pretty.
But this is, I mean, it's up there.
I, off of my head, yes.
In Green Bay, too, I feel like,
been haunted by special teams for so many years.
I mean, you look at last year.
To this day.
Last year in the playoffs.
Constantly having issues with it, yeah.
I mean, I was watching this game.
I'm like, they missed a couple fuel goals.
They had to give up a couple big returns that.
Nobody cares about it.
I'm telling you.
Like, even a team like the Rams who were just so dominant.
Talked about it all year on Fox.
And then just like special teams.
Special teams.
That's why I didn't think they were going to win.
Great cool.
We got to tip our hat to special teams.
team's coordinator Brian Schneider on this one.
Big time.
Brian Schneider.
Give him a little love, man.
Seahawks special teams on this postseason run this last one, excellent.
That's why they won.
They were the best team in football.
All three phases.
All three phases.
All three.
Maybe this should be the all three phases game.
The all three.
Oh, there is.
That's actually.
Nice.
Perfect segue to naming the game or grading the name, or grading the name, the all three phases
game.
What do we score the name?
Well, I came up with it.
So I don't know if I should.
That's a 10.
Yeah, baby.
I give it a 10.
I'm a three phase guy.
We're going nine.
Nine.
I'm going to have to update my score here now that we renamed it.
Oh, man, six.
We're going, I'm going to joining me in a 10, baby.
Thank you.
Billy Bob.
I gave it a 10.
The sick name.
And where does that put us?
Michael Bennett also gave us a 10.
All right.
Let's calculate this thing up.
May have been correct.
Is that right?
Is that right?
9.34.
Where does that put us on the list?
On the master list.
That puts us.
Wow.
At a brand new.
number five six six yes a brand new number six we just passed the a fc division around
2021 buffalo kansas city oh what a walkdown it is a memorable game that people talk about yep we

On the new podcast Solita, we share the messy reality of traveling alone as a woman.
I can wait four hours for the next bus or this random dude is offering me a ride on his motorcycle.
I chose option B. I'm Julie Pinero, and I travel by myself because it's a rare space where I can say yes
without asking anyone else first.
I'm on a mission to reclaim the word solita,
trading the pity for possibility.
Every time I tried to be alone, I kept meeting people,
and they were like, you smiled at us.
Not a lot of people smile around here.
It's when you're alone that you're most receptive to the world as it is
and not the lies you're sold about it.
It can be a time where you push your limits,
change your mind, or wake up to a new version of yourself.
So whether you're a soft,
solo travel veteran or you're too nervous to book your first trip.
I hope you listen to Solita on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your
podcasts.
How did you celebrate?
Did you celebrate?
Where'd you watch the game?
I watched this one, I think at a bar with friends.
I was shell shock.
I was just like, can't believe that happened.
It's like you got to be drained.
Do you have a Seattle fan group?
So I was living in New York at the time and I had a group in New York.
Since I moved to L.A., now it's work.
So I'm not like, I don't really watch.
game is fun anymore. But I had a group of solid friends in New York and Brooklyn. We would get
together. And I remember we watched a lot of these games. The tip game, I remember being told by
a bartender to get off the bar. The Malcolm Butler game, I remember that one, same bar.
When it ended, zipping, it was cold in New York. I zipped up my coat and I just walked out
and didn't say anything to anyone and turned off my phone to the point where my, like, then boyfriend,
was like legit like should I call the police.
Like she might be self-harming right now.
Oh my God.
I was like I never want to talk to anyone again.
Yeah, I miss that man.
Now it's like work.
I'm like gonna, you know.
Well, you're killing it.
Amen.
We've been,
we've been watching all your previews.
Meena,
it's,
it's killer, man.
Appreciate it.
Appreciate it.
What a list of games that was.
Wait, who was the highest?
Was it the 283s?
You guys have the highest?
No, the World Cup.
FIFA or France,
Argentina game overtook 22.
Have you watched that game?
Yeah.
That game was insane.
It was insane.
It was just funny.
Oh, yeah, we got some, I see where it's cross sports here.
We're cross sports.
You have the 2021 AFC Divisional round.
That's a good one.
Do you have the Rams' Chiefs Monday Night game?
We still haven't done that game.
We still haven't done that.
What was it, 54-D?
Yes, that game was unbelievable.
That's on the list.
That was so, what was the year?
Was that 2018?
That was 2018.
Yeah, golf.
Because we, we, I think we played the Rams that year.
That was when the Rams were playing out the Coliseum.
Yeah, that was an all-timer.
We played the Chiefs after that in week four, six.
That game was crazy.
We got to do that game.
That was a great game.
Get Jared golf in here for somebody or somebody.
I don't know who.
Oh, he was so good in that game.
Scalry.
Man.
Look at that.
I mean, Derek golf's a lion now.
Pretty crazy.
Man, do we miss anything from this game, Mina?
I don't think so.
I think we hit all of you.
We hit all the stars, gave some shine to some guys who I feel like deserve more shine.
Heck yeah.
Doug Baldwin.
Come on.
Dougie B.
Love him.
What a legend.

She is a cool hanged.
She sure does, man.
Watches film studies.
Her process.
Process is insane.
We're watching all her previews right now.
You know, it's, it's one thing to hear like a guy from some small town who knows football.
She's like a Yale graduate.
Literally.
That studies.
football. Like that knows football.
Yes.
Brings that Ivy League of birds.
You got an Ivy League brain that is like a football fan.
Literally.
Like, dude, like you were saying,
she should be in a building somewhere like breaking down, like,
is an asset.
Ernier.
He'd be a weapon, man.
You got an earnier.
Amen.
Amen.
Get her up in the booth, man.
Ernie.
Come on, dog.
Another, that's a fun game.
That's a high.
I mean, that is, is it that high?
It's pretty, I think it's sneaky.
You got punked and given some good scores.
I did.
I did. I got punked.
You got punked. I got totally punked.
I was, I was, I was, I was, I was, I was, I was, all fired up.
That game, it is underrated.
Sneaky, great game.
Top 10?
Man, seven turn.
All high?
Top 10. I mean, I mean, it is a pretty high.
It's a great, it's a great, great game.
It's a great game. We didn't even really mention Malcolm Butler that much.
We were nice. We were nice.
Wasn't in the game.
I know. Next. Yeah, yeah, you're right. We stayed on focus, on track.
What a game. That was incredible.
We got to get me in a back here sometime.
Got you.
She's awesome.
