Randy Moss story about Tiger Woods. I can't believe we haven't told any Moss stories. Oh. The Tiger Woods story? I think that's been on here. Did you tell him? Yeah, I won't tell. You didn't know Brady's pod, not our show. Tell him the brain.

So Tiger Woods, Bill comes in to a meeting and basically says, you know, you guys think you know about hard work and routine and things like that. You don't know anything. Here comes stuff about Tiger Woods. Like this guy takes 100 sand shots a day, you know, 50 drives a day. He puts a thousand puts a day.

This guy's like early golf, you know, early in the morning golf course, late at night. They got to use headlights to light up the golf course for him. He's got a presentation. Look, this guy's, you guys go to Vegas. This guy's in the sand traps just fucking practicing. All the time. These other guys are out partying, blah, blah, blah. This guy's working.

That's what work ethic is. blah, blah, blah. So fast forward, like four months to, it was winter time. Winter. December. Tiger, you know, gets in trouble. And so the way that you used to stretch at the Patriots, which was kind of like a union meeting. It was pretty interesting. The receivers, if there were two fields, the coaches would be in the middle, kind of going over scripts, making sure. And the receivers were always, always like the farthest away they were by the stands. But Randy was never with the receivers.

And Randy was like, he was with V always, Will Fork. Yeah, he was with Wilfork, who was, like with the D-LIM. Yeah, it was like, that's what I mean. It was like, it wasn't like an organized stretch. And so everybody's walking out. And I actually happened to be standing next to Bill and we're going over like the script. Like, well, hey, yeah, Bill, hey, we should show him this or whatever. And all of a sudden here.

Hey, Bill Belichick. Hey, Bill Belichick. And you look over, no one there. This is the middle of winter, right? It's just a team and the coaches. He looks over. What's up, Randy? What do you think about Tiger Woods right now?

What do you think about Tiger Woods right now? Wasn't working out. hard last night, was he, Bill Betichick? Not that hard last night. I mean, saying traps he was hitting out of last night. Nope, not too many. He kept it going the whole time. Everybody was crying laughing.

Dying. Dying laughing. You know, it's like a union meeting, but no one's talking to fucking Bill like that. And he goes, he's using that seven eyes. Next, the time Matt Light wore a Randy Moss mask to a meeting. He was always the last guy in the meeting. room two for the morning meeting. You remember that?

Oh, yeah. Like, I'm talking like, as Bill was walking in, the door was just closing behind Randy too. And I'm like, damn, man. Because if you were half a second late, that was payroll deduct. I'm talking, if the door was shut and you weren't in your seat and Bill walked in there, you're, it's, I mean, that, that was a bad feeling. Terrible.

Really bad feeling. And I remember one time I had the Randy Moss mask. I put my sweats on. I got, I got his extra pair of sweats with his number, which didn't fit real well. And I sat in his seat. Remember how he always just sit with his big ass. legs way back and he's backing this thing with his hood up. And dude, when you have that stuff on, you look just like him.

Like that mask was amazing. And so when he walked in, I just stood it. It was like, straight cash, little homie, you know. And I remember Bill was just walking into and he's looking at me like, you know, Randy. Like, damn, like, come on. Next up, Rich Ornberger on the time Randy Moss took over practice. Randy, I remember it was a team drill.

Randy was going against like some rookie or second year corner and this guy I guess felt like he covered him going down field on a play and Randy was running just you know fly route go route whatever just down the sideline and this this kid was drawn to him and so Randy he's pointing I mean shouting something down the field you can't you can't hear it it's inaudible at first but you just know Randy's pissed yeah yeah so he's like oh no hell no no no we're going to run that shit back, Billy O'None of this bullshit. That's our offensive coordinator at the time. Billy O'Brien. He was like, no, we're running that shit again. Tommy, okay, right? Yep, we're going to do it. And so Randy's in control now. Bill steps aside, we're going to run that play again. So this corner knows what plays coming. He just successfully covered Randy Moss just moments ago. But I guess he wasn't given his 100% effort. He knew what Randy was going to do. He blows by him. And he is five. steps in front of him by the time they're 15 yards down the field. And I shit you nod, Jules. Tom throws a perfect ball to his inside shoulder. He never even looks at the fucker. He just goes

like this. He kind of side-eyes it, throws his hand out, catches it, and then holds his hand in the air as he's running to the end zone, chalking shit the entire time into the end zone all the way back to the huddle. And then he spiked it off the corner's head, got in the huddle. They ran the next play. I was like, what did we just witness? Yeah, I remember that. That was so fun. Oh, he did. Randy didn't even warm up with the team.

No. So it used to be offense defense. Randy would always be with V. He'd have his fucking gloves on, remember? Oh, yeah. Hang it up. His shit wouldn't even be tied. He'd be out there just talking with V cold shop, bro.

Randy, it was a man. It was such a fun, fun, fun teammate. And he would motherfucker us. but when people weren't around, he'd always give you some knowledge. He'd always buddy me up, like, because I was in his room. Yeah, oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. That must have been something, dude. But he would always, you know, I was quiet in my room.

You know, you have Randy Moss, West Welker, fucking Greg Lewis we just traded for. Joey Galloway. Oh, my God, Joey, yeah. Joey Galloway. So, like, I didn't say shit. But Randy, you know, when we had to go pay for shit, he'd always take care of me. Tori Holt? Was he on our team?

That was two years. That was the next year. Oh, okay. Yeah. But I mean, we were... Remember we retired on the conditioning test with the Ziggs? Yes. Now, Vince Wilfork on his relationship with Randy Mawes on the Patriots. Like, what did you and Randy used to talk about in stretch line? Me and Randy, oh, anything other than football? Anything other than football.

We used to play catch. Yeah, I remember. We used to break up offense and defense, and Randy would be over in the defense with Big V. Yeah, we used to talk about nothing. And you remember every, what it was, every Friday, me and him had our one-on-one we did. We used to do our one-on-one every Friday, but, man, we used to, man, we used to, man, we didn't. Explain that. What do you mean to one-on-one?

So Randy would be a DB. I would be a receiver, and Pet would be the quarterback. Oh, pet. So I would run routes and Randy guard me, you know? That was out every Friday. How many, who won them? Me. Every time.

I won majority of them. Yeah. couple of them, but I won him a majority. About 80% I won. 80%? Yeah, I beat him down. Did you ever have to cover him? No. That wasn't a rule. I didn't ask him to be an offensive line.

So I'm like, you can't play your position. We both out of position. Do you remember Randy getting watching, like, didn't he watch Dateline every Friday night or something? And he would fucking explain it to the receivers and the receiver meeting for like, the whole receiver meeting on Saturday would be Randy breaking down what I was on Dateline or 60 minutes. Randy was funny.

He loved that. And then this motherfucker tried to cut this dick on. I'm like, now, Jules talks about playing video games with Randy Morris. Did you play Black Ops? No, not really. I used to play with Randy, my rookie year. Yeah, we used to play golf and the trucks.

The trucks? Yeah. See, it was crazy to me because I remember being a young kid straight out of college, game in my whole life, you know what I mean? And Randy was at that. time he's probably like 30 years old right you know so he's older he planned you know and you would just you would be looking at randy's guy and randy's guy would just be like looking at the stars and shit like what the fuck is this guy doing fast forward 12 years when i'm playing with the young kids

i'm like randy now i'm like it's crazy how like the younger kids i just we used to play black ops together now kishon johnson on how randy moss almost went to usc what do you think of randy Freak. Freak. Just, I've never seen somebody so tall be able to run so fluid. Fluid. Yeah. He doesn't even look like he's running fast.

He almost came to SC too. Well, he had that close. He went to Notre-D. He had a crazy story. Yeah, but he, but when he got bounced out of either Florida State or Notre Dame, he was going to come to SC. But I don't think, I think we just said, nah, never mind. Because he was going to come and play with me, but they was just like, I think it was the whole. wasn't even that horrible, right?

It's just not, to me, it's not, it's nothing near. Okay, you get into a fight. Yay! I mean, it's not that big of a deal. Next, Jules and Carissa share their best Randy Moss stories. Ever since the Randy Moss story. Edel Nutt. I love that.

I went with his, with his mom. Yes. Oh my gosh. He used to call me Edel Nutt. Edel Nutt. Hey, Edelna, get my hot tub about 103 and get my Gatorade. You have metal tubs and hot tub? Yes.

He never wanted to go on the regular hot tub. He had to have, it was like menthol rubbing alcohol in there. And he go, Edelna, go get my towel, my Gatorade, make that hot tub by 103, 102. Don't f*** it up. Yes, sir. I love that. So, you know, prior to you coming, I worked with Randy Moss for the first couple of the kickoff show.

And it was before I would do game breaks. So I didn't have to stay all day. So I would leave right after our show. And me and him and Champ Bailey, we would always go to Rosco's. and I was like, you know, like, I'm like, I'm with my big brother, so I was okay. Like, I would never, like, go wander around by myself. Yeah. And just like, I was wearing like my full dress, like full makeup.

They're being like, what's this chick doing in here, right? And they would always protect me and they were always so great. And that's like one of the many things I love about working at Fox. And you know this now. Oh, yeah. For just even your small amount of time that you've been there, like it's a family. Definitely a family. They're the best.

And like, Randy, the story. I could just listen to Randy Moss stories all day. Randy, he's funny. And it's his accent. Yeah. His accent's so funny. I mean, I was just doing a, I went to, I went back to Boston, I went to this academy. So was it Thayer?

Thayer. Thayer. We went to Thayerer. And I spoke in front of the whole school, you know, the junior high and the high. The junior high and the high. You know, this, I went to Kent State. Come on. I'm going to start saying that.

Forget the school part. You know what I'm talking about. The junior high and the high. The junior high and the high. And after you're taking pictures and all these like little sixth graders, they're all over here like, Edelnut, Edel nut, et al- That's hysterical. I'm sitting like, you guys should not be listening to my podcast. There's too many- Where are your parents? I need to talk to them.

They're listening to New Heights. Come on. It's for all ages. That's not true. We're listening to all the podcasts. I know. And you've done a great job. Next up, Jules and Grunk talk about their relationships with Randy Moss. There's a lot of like turbulence in his early career, you know, in college and stuff,

I always thought made Randy, you know, misunderstood. You know, he kind of, what would you say when he was in the locker room? Like, he was always a very caring dude, but he always had his guard up. He always had his guard up. But like on the low, he would always give you love. Like for me, when I was a rookie receiver, I used to have to go out and buy all the receivers, like lunch whenever we would have away trips. Remember before the travel, the rookie goes and grabs, you know, something from Bar-Louie

or you go somewhere, you know, Jimmy Johns or something, and you get the order. And Randy would always make me do it. But I was a seventh rounder. So I wasn't paid by any means. And guys would be giving you crazy orders. Randy would always throw me like three, 400 bucks. He'd pay for it and make me go get it. So, like, he was always, he was just always quite, like, he would kind of get on me

in front of people. But then when there was no one around, he'd always loved me up. And, like, you know, like, he, I think he was just putting that on there to make me, you know, make me accountable. Yeah, for the, you know, quarter career, you know, quarter year I play with Randy. I thought he was a great teammate, man. And like you said, I feel like he was misunderstood in the public eye a little bit. He didn't really care about, you know, the glam and all that.

Like, he just, he just rubbed it off his shoulders like, like it was nothing. Like it was water, man. But he cared about being a good guy and he never thought he was too big for anyone else. I mean, Randy was the best wide receiver in the game at the time, maybe of all time. and he cared about, you know, being relatable to the young bucks. He did. He made me feel very warm and welcome. What do he do?

To the New England Patriots when I was there. What did he do to make you feel warm and welcome? So Moss always loved, you know, kicking it back, having a conversation with myself when I was a rookie. I was struggling. I was in the playbook like crazy, struggling a little bit. But he just loved how I played the game. And he always imitated me because I was big.

I was goofy. you know and he liked that kind of stuff you know and every time i had a catch or you know had a touchdown uh i'd be like myself you know i'd be giggling like this he'd like dude bro you always giggling you always having a good time gronk like it's cool as shit man cool as shit how you are man and i'd be like it made me feel warm and welcome to be myself on the patriot and i'd be like i always did that on the field after a catch i get up like i don't know that was just me i was getting hyped and moss was like man i like how you do this man i like like like like that cool shit how you that like i'm gonna do that after i school a touchdown i was like for real he's like yeah yeah i'm

gonna do that so what happened game i think game number two buffalo versus buffalo he scored like you know 40-yard or post right down the middle like you know like randy moss does because fastest wide receiver i probably ever seen play the game freakish you know stride it looked like he was going slow it looked like but he was just always passing people and he was just gliding it was like jet ski on water, like on like flat surface, just gliding across the water. Yes. And it didn't look like he was going 70. No.

But he was going 70, maybe 80. On water, which is fast. Yes. So we get to the game. He scores that touchdown and he starts doing this. Like he's like, yeah, he's being grok in the end zone. And I'm 21 years old. And this is Randy.

Frickin Moss imitating me after one of his touchdowns. I thought it was the coolest thing. I actually never even shared that story with anything. anyone. I'm not even, I'm talking like I never share that story with a friend, a family member. It's just kind of known within the team, you know, within the team and the organization. So that's one of the coolest stories of all time, you know, about Randy Moss that I have personally. And he just made me feel welcome to the team. And he just made me feel like myself because he just loved how I was and how I played the game. And it was a special moment,

that's for sure. He fucked with dudes that worked hard. Like, I remember on Tuesdays he would come in and do these workouts where he would do like side step-ups, these like step-ups, quick feet. And so I would jump in with them every once in a while. And he'd do all these medicine ball things where like he'd have like one leg on a medicine ball and do like a push-up and, you know, it was working your core. And so I would always, I would always see him do shit and then I would go do it. You know, I want to do anything Randy did. But like if he saw you working, he never really busted your balls. That's kind of got, you know. But if you weren't, if you were, you know, if you were talking and you you were a guy that wasn't heard or something like any other

patriots any of the patriot like guys you know you you're going to hear shit next up we got rich ornberger with a hilarious story on randy moss thinking that he was a coach so i get drafted by the patriots it's 2009 randy's coming off like this unbelievable time yeah he's been crushing it and uh you know it's it's a little bit before the veterans start coming around the building. But when we have OTAs, we have the mini camps and things like that, you know, Randy's in the locker room. And I remember it came in waves. And I'm sure you felt the same way. It's like, oh, my God, that's Tom Brady. And it's like, oh, my God, that's Randy Moss. Like, you're playing with these guys now.

But slowly, but surely, it starts to feel more normal. You know, you start to realize, oh, these are just my buddies. We're playing football. It's all the same as it was in college or high school, but there was this weird thing. He gave me this nickname. And it happened immediately. I have no idea why, because we barely spoke to each other outside of passing by each other in the hallway or outside the meeting rooms or on the football field. You know, we're on our way to the football field. You'd be like, hey, what's up, coach? He'd call me coach. So Randy would call me coach everywhere, you know, we'd be waiting in life. He's like, oh, yeah, coach. Yeah, I know you're going to get on this pot roast because you look like pot rose coach. And you big fat fucker. I bet you, oh, you're going to

have two pieces of pot roast. Yeah, I bet you. You know what? Half three. Half three. You know, you know, Randy with the West Virginia's... And so I'm like, oh my gosh. I'm like, maybe, like, maybe it's like, I'm in, man. Like, he gave me a nickname. Like, I'm telling people from back home, like, Randy Moss gave me a nickname. He really likes me. That's what I'm telling you. It was so cool that he had a fucking nickname. He was so funny. He had a nickname. Yeah, like, immediately. I was like, this is the best. And then we... It's standard. It's customary Bill Belichick at one point or another.

the offseason. He has all the rookies, get in front of the room, and say their name, who they are, whatever it was. And so I get up there. And I can't remember if it was in the meeting or immediately after, but Randy Moss pulls me aside. He goes, motherfucker, you a player? He goes, you, you've been a player this whole time? I think he was in front of the whole team. You gray hair, bitch, I thought you was a coach. He was like, you a player. Oh, hell no, Bill. Do we waste a draft pick on this, motherfucker? Are you kidding me? This Greg, he was going to go out there and break a hip?

God damn, Bill. And I'm just like, oh my God. That was not a nickname. It was not a nickname. He thought it was a fucking coach. He thought he was a coach. How unbelievably embarrassing. I mean, I told everybody.
