Hi, I'm Akilah Hughes, and I'm so excited about my new podcast, Rebel Spirit, where I head back to my hometown in Kentucky and try to convince my high school to change their racist mascot, the Rebels, into something everyone in the South loves, the biscuits. I was a lady rebel. Like, what does that even mean? It's right here in black and white in print. It's bigger than a flag or mascot. Starting point is 00:01:50 We're doing the 2014 Divisional Round Game, Ravens versus the Patriots, a.k.a. the pass game. I think we ran it in a walkthrough and we missed it in the walkthrough. In the walkthrough, missed it the night before the game. That was the loudest I've ever heard I mean we're down 14 twice. It's a true testament to just battling back One time you looked at me and you said oh if I get hit one more time in the head I see that star again. I'm gonna have to retire
Starting point is 00:02:22 We have been drinking for probably 18 straight hours. We start fighting, pushing each other. He gets me in a fish hook. With my pinky, and he bites my pinky. I almost bit it off. Games with Names is a production of iHeartRadio. Welcome to Games with Names, presented by Winbet. We're on the search to find the greatest game of all time and jack how about

And this lady, this little lady was getting me in like a figure four. I think I used my reward points too. Clutch. Clutch. How do you feel now? You kind of got those massage eyes. How do you feel now?
Starting point is 00:03:14 I feel good, but, you know, my IT band's a little tight still. My shoulders, I mean, it was incredible. She got me in a figure four and was hitting my IT band. I was like, what's going on here? I can do a little more work on that later after we hit the craps table. Yeah, we're going to hit the craps table. Maybe hit the pool. The pool open?
Starting point is 00:03:31 Pool open? Pool looked open. Pool open? Yeah. I saw some people at the pool catch a couple rays. I love it. I was eating my overnight oats looking down at the view. On today's episode, we are talking about the 2014 Divisional Round game,
Starting point is 00:03:46 a.k.a. the pass game with Danny M. Ambrola. We get into the epic comeback, the Super Bowl run, and Dola's coaching career. Maybe some questions from bypassers. Huh? Maybe some questions. Because you look right here, people are... I feel like the Truman Show. People are just watching us in our life. Starting point is 00:05:14 Late in the third quarter, the Ravens lead the Patriots 28-21. Brady zips it to Edelman behind the line of scrimmages to him and Dola streaks up the field. Is he going to throw it? This is the Double Pass Game. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:05:32 Yeah. And welcome to Games with Names, presented by Winbet. Today we have a very, very special guest in a very, very special place. We're here in Las Vegas at the Wynn Casino and Hotel. The Wynn Hotel and Casino with Danny Amendola, two-time Super Bowl champion, coach of the Las Vegas Raiders, and our old friend. Welcome. You meet Jack?
Starting point is 00:06:08 I met Jack. I met Jack. Jack, how you doing? What's up, brother? Kyler. Welcome back, I should say. Actually, I have a gift for you. I got a hat for you.
Starting point is 00:06:15 Thank you, sir. You can wear that hat. I appreciate that, man. I think it's part of the props, but I felt like I wanted to come bearing a gift. Thank you, sir. I appreciate it. Yeah. How are you doing?
Starting point is 00:06:24 I'm great. I'm great. How are you doing? Thanks for having me. I'm good. I'm good. I'm good. bearing a gift. Thank you, sir. I appreciate it. Yeah. How are you doing? I'm great. Yeah. Great. How are you doing? Thanks for having me. I'm good. I'm good. I'm good.
Starting point is 00:06:28 This is fun. This is pretty cool. Welcome to Las Vegas, bro. Welcome to Vegas. Viva Las Vegas. We've had a couple of times here. Yeah. We, I told you not.
Starting point is 00:06:38 What did I say? We cannot speak. We don't speak. We don't speak about that. You can't speak about them. We can't talk about it. And, uh, D dola what we're doing the 2014 divisional round game aka the past game ravens versus the patriots why did you pick
Starting point is 00:06:55 this game i love this game i mean we're down 14 twice it's a true testament to just battling back battling battling back you know trusting trusting the process and just believing in your guys, you know? Yeah. Is this the greatest game that you've ever played in? No.
Starting point is 00:07:13 No. No. But it was cold. I remember that. It was freezing. Freezing cold, man. I remember our field was frozen before the game.
Starting point is 00:07:22 I think even the walkthrough the night before it was in bad shape. The top left corner? Top left corner was frozen before the game. I think even the walkthrough the night before it was, it was in bad shape. The top left corner, top left corner was, was frozen. Uh,
Starting point is 00:07:30 the grass, the, the turf was frozen. It was terrible. Oh, how's it? So how, how's living in Vegas?
Starting point is 00:07:38 It's great, man. It's great work. You know, a lot of Patriot guys over there, um, you know, trying to,
Starting point is 00:07:43 um, just win as many games as possible. And we got a good squad, man. Everybody is practicing hard, fighting hard. And it's fun to show up every Sunday and see what happens. Every Sunday. Every Sunday. Showing up.
Starting point is 00:07:57 Yep. I went and visited you guys this off season in training camp. And there were more people at the Raiders that I played with, played around coaches, everything than there was at the Patriots that I visited this year. Is this basically Patriots in the desert? It is basically. Basically? Yeah,
Starting point is 00:08:18 I mean, Josh, Josh and Zig have, have come from that new England tree and they just, you know, brought as many familiar faces as they could that they know they can produce on Sunday and help the team win. Okay, all right.
Starting point is 00:08:30 I need you. Do you need a shot or something? Because you're giving me real media looks and answers. I'm in the media. No, I'm good. Okay. Yeah, let's rip. Are you good?
Starting point is 00:08:41 I'm good. Do you need anything? You want me to just let loose and just tell you all the possible secrets? Can we get into, how does the transition to coaching? It's good, man. It's good. I was sitting on my ass watching Food Network all day. Anytime you know what time Jeopardy comes on.
Starting point is 00:08:55 Now you're overacting. Now you're overacting. You're overacting, Danny. It's a bad deal, man. So I got the opportunity to travel when I was retired and sit in Austin and think about what I wanted to do next. And coaching was one of those things, man. I just love helping younger guys, showing them the ways of being a professional and helping them with their routes in the return game, whatever I can do.
Starting point is 00:09:18 Whatever I can do to help. I bet you're a really good coach. And he's very, like, he's the type of guy you could put, he puts his arm around you. He's got that coolness about him. Like, hey, dude, how you doing? You're that guy. Are you that guy?
Starting point is 00:09:34 I'm that guy, man. You're that guy? I'm that guy. Now, what's harder? Being on special forces or being an NFL coach? Definitely being an NFL coach. It's harder. The hours, man. Hours. We're up there at six o'clock in the morning until 9 30 at night every day Friday is my only half day and that's why I'm here with you kicking it but it's a lot of hours man a lot of watching film um you know
Starting point is 00:09:57 just watching players on other teams and and scouting them and then doing evaluations of guys coming through the draft process and and what we kind of want to see on our field and our team. You were never a big X's and O's guy. Let's just say, like in meetings, you were drawing the whole time. You were drawing me pictures of our weekend extravaganzas and our adventures and everything. Are you actually, you're paying attention in there now? I'm still doodling a
Starting point is 00:10:26 little bit you still at the same time like when you're in offense for five six at that point I was for like seven years I'm talking about coaching coaching I'm talking about coaching like oh yeah we're breaking it down in there full fundamentals I mean we want to play tough strong you know fundamentally sound football so be tough, smart football team that performs under pressure. That's it. Is that what you're trying to do? That's it. Sounds very patriotic.
Starting point is 00:10:51 Speaking of the Patriots, why are they so bad right now? Man, I tell you, they're trying hard. I know that. They're running fast. Are they? Yeah, they just haven't really got a lot of things, you know, go in their favor. You know, two back-to-back losses at the house,
Starting point is 00:11:03 or big ones at least. How would you fix the Patriots? What would you do? I mean, you're a coach. Coach Dola. What would you do, coach? That's a good question, man. That's, you know,
Starting point is 00:11:16 get the right guys in there, run the right plays, score more points than the other team and let's go. Anything stick out when watching the Patriots film on special teams anything two
Starting point is 00:11:25 rookies punter and kicker and then we got Slater running down like a absolute madman still 16 years strong uh shout out shout out to Cap because he's still he's still he's he's a you know obviously a very experienced the most experienced special teams player in the NFL and and still one of the best playing at the top of his game so we got to do a lot of great things to try to shut him down. And, and, um, they got schooler.
Starting point is 00:11:50 Yeah. They're light. They're light. Yep. 41. He's, he's, he's a menace out there,
Starting point is 00:11:54 uh, making a lot of plays. And I don't, I, I, I, I, I,
Starting point is 00:11:58 I, I, I, I, I, I, he's a hell of a football player. I've seen him make some big plays though.
Starting point is 00:12:01 The block kick. Yeah. That whole thing. He's, he gets down to the field pretty fast, but the one thing I just don't like, he's like a, he's a very like dap up a guy like after a fair catch,
Starting point is 00:12:15 like the other team got like, Whoa, is that just the league now? Are these guys, everyone's friends? They're just getting soft, man, you know,
Starting point is 00:12:22 switching jerseys and you know, it's, they're just like, Hey buddy, how you doing? So it's like like i want a guy that eats nails no on special teams he literally would jump through this goddamn win resort hotel and casino fucking glass right now i want that guy i want him not a guy that's gonna dap you up hey man that, that was good. Good, good job. No bro. Yeah. Can you talk about the origin of our friendship? The origin of our friendship? Well, it all started way back in, in Los sunny Los Angeles, Los Angeles. We were training at the same place and we kind of,
Starting point is 00:12:57 the first couple of days we kind of looked at each other and we're like, who is this guy coming in here? I think picking up my ping paddle, thinking he's the shit in armor. And it took us like two days to kind of warm up to each other. I said, hey, Julian, how you doing? Nice to meet you. I've seen a lot of your film. You know, you're a great player. Yeah, right.
Starting point is 00:13:14 You didn't say that. We should hang out sometime. And then he's like, where do you live? And I'm like, I'm in Venice. Where do you live? He's like, I'm in Venice. And then I'll see you later at three on the beach. And then the rest is history.
Starting point is 00:13:26 The rest is history. Favorite story of our time in New England. What's your favorite story of our time? My favorite story of our time, probably when we bought those two dirt bikes and we were crushing Foxborough in our free time, running from police. I remember one time I was sitting on my couch.
Starting point is 00:13:45 It was snow. It was probably 10 degrees outside. And you remember one time I was sitting on my couch. It was snow. It was probably 10 degrees outside. And you took one of the bikes out for a spin. And then you came back in and your hands were like frozen. And you're like, I just had to run. I just had to run from the cops. I'm like, dude, what are you doing running from the police on a Thursday afternoon? In our own city.
Starting point is 00:14:03 Every off season, we would always find we would always buy something some activity some toy one year it was like remote control cars we broke them the first day next year it was like little mini bikes we rode them for like two months yeah we had drone we went through a drone stage one of the little inside drones in the houses yeah drone man we played ping pong every day probably every day probably 20 games of ping pong until one of us was muddy and bleeding muddy and or bleeding dip spit everywhere water bottles everywhere we played in danny's old little uh he had a basement that was unfinished at the house he was staying at and it it was like cement. And we'd just be spitting,
Starting point is 00:14:47 hitting balls. He beat me with an iPhone. Hit an iPhone once. I didn't play ping pong growing up. This guy was like, like one of those world-class like dudes that you see in China. Forrest Gump. This guy was Forrest Gump.
Starting point is 00:15:03 Best hand-eye coordination. He beat me with the fucking iPhone It was crazy Now I got a real serious question It's a real serious one I want the goddamn truth What do we got? Now did you become an NFL coach Just so you could get back on Instagram?
Starting point is 00:15:22 No No? No it's just a coincidence. It's a coincidence? It's a coincidence. You're like a player on that thing. Your Instagram's like a player. We get fit shots.
Starting point is 00:15:31 We get shots of you with your headset on. I've been taking notes from you guys for years, man. What are you talking about? We don't post game day shots like you. Oh, yeah. I'm not a player anymore, so I can have my phone in pregame warm-ups. It's pretty awesome. He's very artistic of you warmups it's pretty awesome he's very artistic of you

It was December 2019 when the story blew up. In Green Bay, Wisconsin, former Packers star Kabir Bajabiamila caught up in a bizarre situation.
Starting point is 00:18:06 KGB explaining what he believes led to the arrest of his friends at a children's Christmas play. A family man, former NFL player, devout Christian, now cut off from his family and connected to a strange arrest. I am going to share my journey of how I went from Christianity to now a Hebrew Israelite. I got swept up in Kabir's journey, but this was only the beginning. In a story about faith and football, the search for meaning away from the gridiron, and the consequences for everyone involved. You mix homesteading with guns and church,
Starting point is 00:18:41 and then a little bit of the spice of conspiracy theories that we liked. Voila! You got straight away. I felt like I was living in North Korea, but worse, if that's possible. Listen to Spiraled on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. We got a segment where we go back in time to the day of the game. And we talk about pulp culture. This day, January 10th, 2015, number one movie was Taken 3. You watch that?
Starting point is 00:19:12 I haven't seen that. I think I stopped that. Who's the Taken guy? Liam Neeson. Liam Neeson, yeah. So I got a crazy story about Liam Neeson. I was on vacation. I was by myself in the Dominican Republic.
Starting point is 00:19:24 Kind of like a little retreat type of situation. Surfing, you know, I was, I was on vacation. I was by myself in the Dominican Republic, kind of like a little like retreat type of situation, surfing, uh, you know, riding bikes all day, you know, tennis lessons, you know, all the good stuff. And I, and I was walking down one morning, like breakfast, like haven't had my coffee yet. It was like sleeping tripped over a candle, candle breaks, candles on the floor is like decorative candle i couldn't see it i was it was i had sleep in my eyes candle knocks over breaks on the on the in the concrete i hear the guy i hear liam neeson's voice in my head as i'm picking up the tape picking up the candle are you gonna clean that up and it was in his voice bro just like the taken movies like i will find you and i will kill you and i was like that's liam neeson and i looked up and there he was liam neeson sitting there by himself having breakfast and then i walked up dapped him up called him a legend and then i was like
Starting point is 00:20:13 jesus christ i can't believe i thought i heard that in my head and next thing i know liam neeson sitting right there sipping on fine coffee in the dominican i mean if you were to study your instagram posts your thoughts become your realities. Maybe that was your reality right there. That's it. I saw that. One of Danny's posts, your thoughts become a reality. Thoughts become things. Of him working out, getting jacked,
Starting point is 00:20:36 sprinting on the field. Oh my god. All About the Bass was the number one song. How's that go? Remember that? All about the bass. No trouble. All about the Bass was the number one song. How's that go? Remember that? All about the bass. The bass. No trouble. All about the... Yeah, I mean, I didn't...
Starting point is 00:20:49 Something like that. It was all right. Around this time, January 6th, Randy Johnson, Pedro Martinez, John Smoltz, and Craig Biggio. You like Craig Biggio. I love Craig Biggio. They were inducted to the Baseball Hall of Fame.
Starting point is 00:21:01 Craig Biggio was my favorite player. I had his jersey, bro. I remember that. Yeah. You loved him. What was his batting stance Fame. Craig Buggio was my favorite player. I had his jersey, bro. I remember that. Yeah. You loved him. What was his batting stance like? Can you show us? Oh, man.
Starting point is 00:21:08 No, you know, he started out playing catcher. Then he moved him, I think, to either third. And then he went to second base. And then from there, I was like, this is my guy. He had a foundation called the Sunshine Kids. And he always wore this, like, little cool little pin on his hat. And just did a lot for the community
Starting point is 00:21:26 in Houston and was an awesome guy. Wow. What a Biggio guy. Biggio. I remember that. Bagwell Biggio.
Starting point is 00:21:33 Batten lead off Batten's in the two hole. Two hole. He was always a two hole guy. The killer bees. You know, two hole. Yeah.

Starting point is 00:22:23 Double fried animal style. But you know what's number one over all of them? What? Culver's, baby. We're going Culver's. What's Culver's? Oh, Midwest joint, but it's spreading though. Butter on everything.
Starting point is 00:22:34 I think they started in Wisconsin. We got to check it out. Cheese curds? They have one here in Vegas? I don't know. We'll look though. I'll have to look it up. Daniel, what was your life like in 2015?
Starting point is 00:22:42 Man, I was living next to you. We were balling, man. That's pretty much it. That's it? That's all we were doing. Going to LA, going to the beach, getting our work done, going to the beach, riding our skateboards around. Yeah. Man, those were some fun days.
Starting point is 00:22:57 Were you guys living in Foxborough this year? Yeah. Hell yeah. What's our best derby story? Did we go to the derby this year? Yeah, we did. I think 2015.
Starting point is 00:23:06 Is that when? It's the first one. That's when, is that when Floyd fought Pacquiao? That was the second one. That was the 17th. No, this was,

Starting point is 00:25:24 social media around this time. Oh, the throw, the pass. Man, I'm still kind of bummed I didn't get a t-shirt, bro. You didn't get a t-shirt? I didn't get a t-shirt. We're going to get you. Can I get a catch t-shirt too
Starting point is 00:25:35 or what? We didn't have it. I mean, we could have done that. You know what I'm saying? It's a little late to the fire though. Look at the Fury haircut
Starting point is 00:25:42 that you had. Remember that? That was a badass haircut. That was a badass haircut. That was game day going to the Super Bowl, right? Going to the fire though. Look at the Fury haircut that you had. Remember that? That was a badass haircut. That was a badass haircut. That was game day going to the Super Bowl, right? Going to the big one. I was going to the big one?
Starting point is 00:25:51 I was going to the big one, yeah. Suited and booted. What about, did Dola have social media? No, I didn't have it back then. Didn't have it. I got it in like 2017. 16.
Starting point is 00:26:02 And then you went on a break. Why did you go on a break? Just, you know, social cleanse. Just gain perspective on life, you break? Just, you know, gain... Social cleanse? Just gain perspective on life, you know? Yeah. You know, try to build relationships in other ways. Instead of through the internet?
Starting point is 00:26:12 Yeah. Instead of through the internet. But now you're fully internet. You want to be on the internet building relationships right now. Full internet. Just internet. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:26:21 I got a lot more free time now. A lot more free time. DMs are open for business? Absolutely. Yeah. Wait, before we leave the pass, we sold 11,218 shirts, baby. We were moving merch.
Starting point is 00:26:34 That night. Wow. Total. Total. That night. A lot that night. Sounded better. They were up on the site ready for sale
Starting point is 00:26:41 within, I believe it was, eight hours of the game ending. So quick, quick, quick. That's take and bake. Shout out to Asaf. Shout out Kyler on those. Shout out. Shout out Billy.
Starting point is 00:26:53 Sammy. Jackie, why don't you set the stage for this? This Baltimore team game, 2014 divisional round game. This is a divisional round game. Baltimore's coming off a win against the Steelers. They come in this game as the sixth seed. 10-6 season for the Ravens. This was the Ray Rice season, suspended before this season.
Starting point is 00:27:14 So no Ray Rice. First playoff appearance for this team, post-Ray Lewis. We're in the post-Ray Lewis, post-Ed Reed era. This is a Suggs, C.J. Mosley. T-Sizzle. That kind of crew. Flacco, Justin Forsett, Justin Tucker. Steve Smith Sr. on this team.
Starting point is 00:27:33 Steve Smith Sr. All in out. What do you think about the proliferation of going to guys adding Sr. once they have a kid? Say it again? Like, guys, now you see they have a kid. You add Sr. Before, he was just steve smith you know what i mean yeah i don't know what do you make of that move i think that's i don't i don't know i don't love it what do you think about that i mean i kind of like it actually you should you
Starting point is 00:27:57 you're gonna have danny amandola senior on your on your coach's jacket i mean kind of showing your son extra love giving him the junior name and also taking the senior. We get it. You had sex. All right. Keep it going. Keep it moving. 10-6 team, though.
Starting point is 00:28:13 Coming into Foxboro, tough as the Ravens always are. We didn't play. I say that the Patriots didn't play him in the regular season. That's rare, too. We don't play in the regular season. Yeah. Usually we catch him. I feel like we played those guys all the time. We did.
Starting point is 00:28:24 What was your mindset going into when we were playing Baltimore? I remember we tried to put a little bit extra schemey plays on Suggs and their D-line because they kind of got,
Starting point is 00:28:35 because we play them once a year, they kind of started to pick up on our signals and our calls at the line of scrimmage. So I remember we put, Avalanche was our call,
Starting point is 00:28:44 so it's usually a run to the right. And then we actually switched it and made it a run to the left, which would actually have me, instead of chopping Suggs, pull around and try to like- Block him. Block him, block him.
Starting point is 00:28:56 And I was like, I don't know if this is the best idea, but I'm going to go ahead and hope that he can be fooled by the change of play call. But they're just a savvy team. You play against each other once a year
Starting point is 00:29:06 they're tough as hell and they play good football Flacco was playing really good football back in the day too so he was you know
Starting point is 00:29:12 dishing the ball out to all those playmakers and good backs I used to hate playing these guys and it stemmed before you were even with the Patriots they came and
Starting point is 00:29:21 knocked us out in 2009 came in on our home field and beat our ass. They beat the shit out of us. I think, Ray, I think, who was it that almost, Ray Lewis almost knocked your tooth out or something? No, Ray Lewis hit me so hard. He hit me so hard.
Starting point is 00:29:35 I scored a touchdown and he kneed me so hard on my right butt cheek that I had a hematoma. And I looked like I had one J-Lo cheek. I had the swelling. My ass was so big. I couldn't sit down for three weeks. They had to drain it. Like,
Starting point is 00:29:50 I don't think I would have been able to play the next week. It was so bad. We, thank God we got eliminated. I mean, it was, he, he,
Starting point is 00:29:56 he need me so hard. Ray Lewis knocked me out of game too. Like two years before or two years later, I started going to the right side and a hello to Nata goesnada goes, hey, buddy, your sideline is that way. Yeah. I was like, oh, I had no clue where I was at. Took the helmet on that one. They're notoriously a tough team, man.
Starting point is 00:30:14 They've always been a tough team. Who was the team you hated playing the most? Man, you know, I think I just remember playing the Bengals. It would always get super chippy. I remember Coach Belichick would always tell us to, you know, no after the whistle nonsense because it's going to get, there's probably a fight going to break out. And that's when a lot of the Bengals were getting arrested.
Starting point is 00:30:38 So we had a formation called Bengal. And it was a set of three formations bangle tiger and what was the other one i don't remember but tiger was the f used to move around and so tiger was you you remembered by or brown it was brown tiger bangle yeah they were all same with the F, X, and Z on the same side. Yeah, it was empty backfield too, wasn't it? Yeah, I think it was. It was empty. And Brown, the F would be all the way outside. Yeah, the Z was in the slot.
Starting point is 00:31:14 The Z was in the slot. Tiger, we learned that the F would go to the slot. The Z would go inside. And we remember that because it's a T word and it's no we remembered it because of Kevin Falk yeah he was always the F and that's when we put him
Starting point is 00:31:33 in the slot yeah and then when the F was all the way in it was bangle and we learned that because our coaches would say the bangles are always in jail so you just gotta you know they always went to jail that's Chadio remember Chadio Chadio
Starting point is 00:31:46 shout out Chadio you'll remember this one because they have to all the way in like he's in jail and the Bengals are always in jail remember that yeah
Starting point is 00:31:55 you'd always have quirky ways for you to remember shit I mean that's a sign of a good coach though you need to have that Jackie let's jump into this New England Patriots team
Starting point is 00:32:04 in 2014. 12-4 team. 12-4. Most notably, you'll remember, this is the on-decent Cincinnati year, speaking of the Bengals.
Starting point is 00:32:12 Remember that? We got our Monday night football. Got our teeth kicked in. Yeah. They're not good anymore. Yeah. Fucking Dilfer.
Starting point is 00:32:22 We're on-decent. And then, a seven game win streak yeah did we lose again then lost to
Starting point is 00:32:31 Green Bay 26-21 to snap that streak that's when our team got formed yeah in San Diego
Starting point is 00:32:37 yeah because we lost to Green Bay and then we went to San Diego yeah old Qualcomm baby Qualcomm
Starting point is 00:32:42 that was fun then beat the Dolphins you got any stories about San Diego San Diego of course yeah old qualcomm baby welcome that was fun then beat the dolphins you got any you got any stories about san diego san diego of course i remember we were uh you and i would go for long walks on the beach after practice and uh one time you looked at me and you said doh if i get hit one more time in the head i see that star again i'm gonna i'm gonna have to retire I said alright bro I'll watch out for you
Starting point is 00:33:06 and tell you and see if you get your bell rung and ask making sure you're not in concussion protocol I think he saw the star like seven more times that year and played for like seven more years after that too and fuck that star that's just a test
Starting point is 00:33:20 fuck that star fuck that star what was our pact on punt returns oh yeah Fuck that star. Fuck that star. Fuck that star. What was our pact on punt returns? Oh, yeah. So our pact on punt returns was if one of us would get knocked out, then the other one would come help, come peel us off the ground so we didn't have to miss the game and then possibly the next game because we had incentives on playing.
Starting point is 00:33:40 So we wanted to play and make money and not sit out. So it was like, all right, grab your right knee. when i come over to you after you get done on on punt return get grab your i'll come pick them up and i'll say grab your knee grab your knee and so we're trying to beat the system and he come in you say hey dude it's it's yeah it's november 3rd it's about two o'clock we're down by seven we're in the third quarter you get off you get off the fucking on the sideline i would just they'd bring in the independent quarter you get off you get off the fucking yeah on the sideline i would just they'd bring in the independent doctor it's fucking two o'clock we're down by seven it's about 2 30 get out of here yeah proactive proactivity proactivity oh my god
Starting point is 00:34:17 i love that also let's not forget this was jimmy g's rookie year rookie year yeah imagine when you drafted him that you became not as not the hottest guy on the team anymore oh I beg to differ are you you're taking dolo over Jimmy
Starting point is 00:34:32 all day baby I think I am too of the cool factor yeah got to got to but Brady I'll let you guys
Starting point is 00:34:39 argue over this you think Tom was mad that Jimmy was so good looking I don't know Tom I mean his pockets make him look good too good looking I don't know Tom I mean his pockets make him look good too
Starting point is 00:34:47 but I mean don't matter what he looks like when you're rolling up in a Wraith and he fucking got a sick watch on and your jacket's ten thousand dollars and your chin can hit you from a mile away
Starting point is 00:34:56 yeah and you got just blue steel eyes I know cool factor this was also Malcolm Butler signed as an undrafted free agent.
Starting point is 00:35:06 Oh, he had a good camp that year. He had a really good camp. He was feisty. He's the only guy that I've seen that could look back for the ball and run faster. Yeah. He could track the ball,
Starting point is 00:35:14 look back and keep his speed. Yeah. Yeah. It was pretty incredible. He had a great camp, man. He was at one of our best players in camp, undrafted free agent,
Starting point is 00:35:23 undrafted free agent worked at popeyes west alabama west alabama he had long arms and he was strong yeah what else about this game the lead up to this game jackie we uh touched on a little bit in the teams but you guys were coming off a buy here number one seed in the playoffs you get the buy the uh as we mentioned earlier the Ravens had just gone into Heinz Field knocked off the number three seed Steelers sent Big Ben packing um the uh Dola mentioned it earlier cold as hell 20 degrees at kickoff wind chill even colder I was curious here what was your guys approach to that bye that kind of that that uh postseason by does it kill the momentum is it good you like like what was the routine in foxborough i loved it too i mean it gave us a it
Starting point is 00:36:12 gave us a full week to heal but we would also have hard practices too so we would kind of you know stay sharp we had this goddamn blue and white scrimmage we would be scrimmaging in the playoffs man and i mean it was pretty much live too. Yeah. No refs, but we'd split the team up into two and go at it on like that Thursday, I think. Yeah. And then,
Starting point is 00:36:31 I mean, it was, I mean. It gave us some time off, but the practices that we had, we'd have like maybe one or two on that bye week. They were hard.
Starting point is 00:36:40 Yeah. That was when we had that blue and white scrimmage and it was snowing and the fucking field was frozen. Yeah. And we went into the stadium and no one liked practicing the stadium because it was turf.
Starting point is 00:36:50 Make you hurt so much the next day. Yeah. Man, the bye weeks were always the best. We'd maybe shoot down in New York City, grab a bite. Maybe a cocktail or two. Get ready for a little Einelli baby effinelli effinelli do you have any
Starting point is 00:37:09 stories in New York that that you and I can talk about on national television this is national podcasting national podcasting
Starting point is 00:37:18 ooh we have we went down there a lot I remember one time it was in the off season and Julie and I went down there for like four days,
Starting point is 00:37:26 ripped it. I had to go back for like rehab or something. And then Julian was supposed to come back with me and just never showed up to work for like another two weeks. He was, he'd send me pictures of like 10 30 of the morning, just drinking whiskey. I'm like,
Starting point is 00:37:42 what? Come back to just broke up with a girl. I'm like, get your ass back I just broke up with a girl. Come back. He's all heartbroken. I'm like, get your ass back to work. I know. He was out anyway. It was like... I was like, I lost my friend to New York.
Starting point is 00:37:53 That's when they started calling me Gatsby. Kudavidi saying, Gatsby, when you coming home? Come back. Oh, my God. You're supposed to come back. Oh. Come back. Oh my God. You're supposed to come back. Or what about the time where we stuffed 15 people into a six person elevator? Oh my gosh.
Starting point is 00:38:12 Yeah. We're on our way back to your spot. And 15 people in an elevator in the elevator stops working. It breaks. People were in there like literally like claustrophobic like crying like so mad i still was on my shoulders trying to open the roof full full fbi weight limit reached the fire department had to come in in uh and open up the top and everybody climbed up the elevator and and got out a dola go we're going to a random another unit we go into another unit another apartment it wasn't our apartment
Starting point is 00:38:46 right they let us in there yeah bill goes right into the fridge grabs a beer fucking fire department they're like oh he's fucking assholes damn it dolan edelman they're all jets fans and shit they go we should have just left them yeah thanks fireman ed yeah fireman ed new york's great man The Met Gala was fun I remember we were late To the Met Gala Shocker And like
Starting point is 00:39:09 You could only get in If you're coming You gotta get in At fucking 850 And if you're 851 You're not coming And it was like 849 And Julian
Starting point is 00:39:17 We were waiting in this line And there's like a There's like a long line Of cones here And it was like The line's like another 30 minutes Like we're fucked And Julian sticks his head out You can see his beard he's got his shades
Starting point is 00:39:26 dip in his mouth and then he goes to one of the police officers hey buddy you look like a fucking Jets fan the guy walks over to the to the suburban he's like you know what the fuck no I am a Jets fan but you guys he moved the cones out of the way you guys need to get up right up here the guy moved we cut 30 minutes worth of line all because we're talking shit. The only cool Jets fan in the world. I love it. The New York police are always so cool.
Starting point is 00:39:53 They're ball busters, but they're always like rad cool. Yeah. They show love. They show somewhat love. Games with Names is brought to you by my friends at WinBet. If you or someone you know has a gambling problem, call 1-800-522-4700. 1-800-522-4700 1-800-522-4700 now going into this game can you walk us through the the pass beat by beat well we got to start by the full season i really i think we never we practice it a couple maybe three times whether it be in a walkthrough. I thought we put it in like week two. We put it in week two. We actually ran it against, we had it called with an alert versus KC.
Starting point is 00:41:33 You needed to have the zone, right? Yeah, versus Kansas City on that Monday night game. And they gave us a man look. So we had to check out of it and run a slant backside with JoJo LaFell who took it to the house actually. But because they gave us a man look, we couldn't run it. So we got called off and then we didn't see it again until I think we ran in a walkthrough and we missed it in the walkthrough.
Starting point is 00:41:52 In the walkthrough, missed it the night before the game. Yeah. So the coaches are freaking out. They're like, we're going to scrap it. I'm like, we're good. These slappies can't complete a pass. And then they called it in the game, and we got the right look. And then ended up working out, man.
Starting point is 00:42:09 Remember this ball? Let me see. I remember the way it feels. Oh, yeah, that's nice. It's a little wobbly, though. Was it a complete spiral? No. It was a little.
Starting point is 00:42:21 I just wanted to get out there. A little wobbly. I thought I overthrew him. Nah, but. Like, Dole ain't going to gonna get this he ain't got that speed man hey little joker run catches it little high step into the end zone tracked it down that was that was the loudest i've ever heard foxborough well we were down 14 points twice in that game that was the second time yeah i tied it up at 28 i tied it up at 28 they went up 14-0 then we went to 14-14 then they went up 28 to 14 yeah you remember the lead up to this josh no i don't yeah josh just came up to me in the drive before he goes i don't need to give you
Starting point is 00:42:56 any lead time for for the double pass do i i'm like no i'm good yeah sitting there shitting my pants for this influencing out there? Yeah. Thinking about the walkthrough the night before. Yeah. What were you thinking when you let that ball fly? I thought I overthrew you. No, I was good.
Starting point is 00:43:14 I was jogging too, bud. I don't know. Getting right in stride. Didn't even have to turn the jets on. I mean, I didn't, you know, when the guy's that wide open, you just gotta fucking put it out there yeah gronk was blocking for you yeah gronk right after fucking gives me a big old bear hug grabs me lifts me up the funniest thing is the next day in meetings
Starting point is 00:43:38 julian walks in with an ice bag on his shoulder like he just pitched like nine innings shut out no hitter gotta predict the room he threw one pass I gave it last too like I gave it last I'm like oh sorry coach I had to get ice bag for my arm he cracked a smile on that one I think it was fun
Starting point is 00:44:01 let's talk about the origin of the Baltimore and Raven formations. Remember that? Yeah, I think we got it out of... Who, man? Who, man? But we got it off of Arkansas, maybe? Yeah, it was Alabama used it against LSU earlier that year. Alabama used it against LSU.
Starting point is 00:44:21 We got it from a college game. Yeah, I was paying attention in meetings. When I doodle, I pay attention better. However, yeah, we got this from college. And we just kind of displaced everybody and made it as legal as we possibly could. And Vereen being on the line. Covers.
Starting point is 00:44:39 Yeah. And you being on the line, too. How did it work? I forgot how it even worked. Because I think Shano... Shano... Was ineligible. Turned into the tackle.
Starting point is 00:44:49 Yeah. Yeah. And then he couldn't go more than three yards downfield to be illegal men downfield. And then it was just kind of... We were kind of just trying to hit... Hit slant routes.
Starting point is 00:44:59 Yeah. Hit slant routes to Hooman and let him roll. Yeah. Essentially, I'm going through the explanation here. The Patriots were playing with four offensive linemen. The center, the traditional right guard, the right tackle, and the left guard.
Starting point is 00:45:12 Like Dola said, Vereen is technically playing right tackle. Yeah. Even though he's lined up in the slot as a running back. Yeah. Hooman got one, and then I think I got another one. Didn't I get one? Did you get the other one? I thought I got the Raven. Yeah. Yeah, got one? And then I think I got another one. Didn't I get one? Did you get the other one? I thought I got it.
Starting point is 00:45:26 I got the Raven. Yeah. Yeah. Cause there were three. They were so pissed. Remember that? They were so mad about this. They were trying to like petition it.
Starting point is 00:45:36 Yeah. I mean, after this, I mean, in classic Belichick form, everyone whined to the league and this was outlawed that off season. And even before the game, before the game, coach Belichick can go over there and tell him that, Hey, we're going to the league and this was outlawed that offseason. And even before the game, before the game, Coach Belichick can go over there
Starting point is 00:45:47 and tell him that, hey, we're going to run this play, be alert. It's not going to be illegal. We've done our homework and this is fully legal play. Fully. I mean, Harbaugh was so pissed. Look at Harbaugh. He's illegal. I like Harbaugh
Starting point is 00:46:04 though. Good ball coach he is he always has a team competitive yeah and then the further fallout from this
Starting point is 00:46:14 there's speculation that this kind of getting shown up on such a big stage and then Brady's comment afterwards which was basically like read the rule book
Starting point is 00:46:23 kind of might have played a role in Deflategate. In Harbaugh whining to the league and alerting the Colts and the whole Was that it? That's a theory, which I kind of buy into. This was Deflategate season, huh? Was it?
Starting point is 00:46:40 It was. The very next game when we blew the brakes off of Indianapolis. Ran for 300 yards. LG. Yeah. I caught four balls that game. I didn't feel any air out of the ball when I caught it.
Starting point is 00:46:54 I didn't either. In fact, didn't they have the same amount of balls that had less air? I think atmospheric pressure. That's what it'll do. Bill Nye the science guy knew. I know. He came out and defended us right away. I know. No, he did the opposite. He didn't? He did. Yeah. Fuck Bill Nye.
Starting point is 00:47:12 Gotta wheel his ass out on that fucking TV that he used to wheel in his school. He ain't been on TV for 20 years. Get out of here. Bill Nye. Bill, come on, Phil. We had the Harvard. Didn't Harvard do a case for us? Yeah. Who do you trust? The guy that comes on the fucking VHS in your middle school
Starting point is 00:47:28 or Harvard? Harvard. I'm going with Harvard. Harvard. We all no one knew the term PSI before that. Now it's like
Starting point is 00:47:34 my dad's a mechanic. Tire pressure my dad knew it right away. Yeah that's right. Yeah. That's you know it's like when your tires
Starting point is 00:47:42 cold air tires get a little deflated. In Frank, we trust, baby. In Frank, we trust. Yeah. Which Raven, which Raven, like, was the biggest trash talker? Ooh. Because these dudes used to talk.
Starting point is 00:47:57 They used to talk shit. They used to talk shit. Suggs, dude. Suggs. But you couldn't do nothing about it because he's 10 feet tall. Suggs was huge. Yeah. Suggs. But you couldn't do nothing about it because he's 10 feet tall. Suggs was huge. Yeah. Suggs.
Starting point is 00:48:06 And he was great. Yeah. T-Sizzle. I'd never fuck with T-Sizzle. Yeah. He could just grab you and throw you probably 10 yards. Yeah. Like a little ball.
Starting point is 00:48:18 Who's the unsung hero this game? Ooh. Hmm. I would say Dola. I don't know I would have said Dola Dola balled out he had two touchdowns
Starting point is 00:48:27 didn't you have two touchdowns yeah you had that one down the sideline and you had a broken ankle right not that year uh uh the year the year after that
Starting point is 00:48:36 year after that maybe two years after that five catches 81 yards two tutties yeah you had that one down the sideline where you made you broke a tackle
Starting point is 00:48:43 yeah and I jumped in yeah I got to the sideline where you broke a tackle? Yeah. And I jumped in. Yeah, I got to the sideline and you go, did you just do a jumper? And I was like, yeah, I did a jumper, man. You just did a jumper. You just did a jumper. It's always tight when you get to dive by the pylon.
Starting point is 00:48:58 It's like a fucking yard sale. I love that. And the knocking over. I was mad. He was knocking over. I was like, yeah, that's fucking sick. Yeah. The fun over. I was mad. He was knocking over. Yeah, it's fucking sick. Yeah. The fun fact, during this season, against the Colts, Jonas Gray ran for what?
Starting point is 00:49:11 37, 204 touchdowns. Following Thursday, his phone didn't charge. He missed the team meeting. We cut him, didn't we cut him? Yeah, he got cut. I think he lasted the whole season. I think they brought him back on practice squad, I think he missed the squad meeting the next day and then that was it this is where Tom this is where Belichick tied Tom Landry for most postseason wins and Tom passed
Starting point is 00:49:35 Joe Montana for most playoff touchdown passes so this was a pretty historic game this was I mean, two 14 point comebacks for a 35-31. I mean, this game right here. And Super Bowl win. Slingshot. A whole lot of things. A slingshot. Us going to the Derby. It's slingshot.
Starting point is 00:50:00 Baltimore trying to say something about fucking balls and deflate gate to the Colts. And Colts, you know, this is a slingshot game. Which is more of an impressive comeback, though. This one or the 28-3 Falcons Super Bowl? I mean, this is super. Yeah, 28-3, man. Because technically, this is more point. Like, you were down 28 if you combine those two for a team, but you got to...
Starting point is 00:50:21 Something about splitting them up and you're right, the Super Bowl, 28-3. I mean, got to, something about splitting them up and you're right, the Super Bowl, 28 to three. I mean, got to go with that one. Three, four score game as a 28 to three, whereas it's two 14s is just two scores each.
Starting point is 00:50:35 That's true. Good math. And 28 to three game, Dola was responsible kind of for that second half when he came up with got to believe. That's what Dle used to say.
Starting point is 00:50:45 He came up with that. He did not. He did not come up with that. I came up with that playing ping pong without question. No, you didn't. Without question. And then he stole it right up. What are you talking about?
Starting point is 00:50:57 You always gotta believe. That's bullshit, Danny. No. Nah, dude. We made that up. I made that up. Did you see the t-shirt? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:51:09 If it's not on the t-shirt, you didn't make it up. All right, yeah. Where does the pass rank among our favorite on-field memories? It's up there, bro. I think it is. It's up there.
Starting point is 00:51:24 We had a lot of good memories on the field, but there's five years of... But that was us incorporating... We both got a touch ball in one play. Yeah. Pretty tight. I got a touchdown. You got a touchdown.
Starting point is 00:51:37 I threw one. It's sicker that you got to throw it, but, you know. And you had a couple throws? A couple throws, yeah. You have a touchdown pass yeah I got
Starting point is 00:51:47 I got two St. Louis two or three I got two touchdown passes Dola could sling it two touchdowns
Starting point is 00:51:54 Dola could sling it we asked Gronk we just had him on a few weeks ago top five most handsome Patriots he put you I think think, at two? Where did he put Dola?
Starting point is 00:52:07 Two? Two, I believe. I got to go review the tape, but I think it was two. Two? And did he go Jimmy G on one? He might have gone Tom. Tom won. Tom's always won.
Starting point is 00:52:19 Smart man. What's your top five, Danny? We got to go. We got to go TB number one, just because he's just so. You're going TB. You're going. You're going.
Starting point is 00:52:29 You're going. You're going TB over Jimmy? Jimmy's. Pure good looks? Yeah, Jimmy's handsome Italian Scorpio. You know, we got the same birthday.
Starting point is 00:52:39 Same birthday? Same birthday. November 2nd. I'm older than him, obviously, but we got got I remember that one birthday you had you were having like a where were we or downtown strip yes I know uh we're at we're at we're at Strega and I have like you know all my family there I told Julian to come
Starting point is 00:53:00 and by the time Jules got there at like 11 he was wasted and then he walks in with a I'm with like my uncle like we're wearing nice suits didn't we just win an AFC we just won something
Starting point is 00:53:10 no it was November 2nd so we weren't in the playoffs yet I think we had a game a couple days before and then so we're wearing like nice suits and we're having
Starting point is 00:53:17 a nice dinner it's like 30 people in there and I'm sitting there and Julian walks in with a bottle of champagne and just sprays me
Starting point is 00:53:24 with a bottle of champagne in the middle of the restaurant. Now I'm soaked with the restaurant. And then somebody wouldn't grab me a t-shirt from like the Bruins stand downstairs. And like, I'm wearing now I'm wearing a Bruins tee around. I went right up into that. I went right up into that restaurant.
Starting point is 00:53:43 I went straight to the bar and like, give me, give me a champagne right now give me a whole bottle and just went in didn't say anything and just started
Starting point is 00:53:50 spraying Dolan we went through we went through a thing we went through a champagne I got some great videos man of after we won the Super Bowl of just
Starting point is 00:53:58 literally like tell them the story about how we were after the the first Super Bowl we won how we hired that guy to just follow us around with a broom.
Starting point is 00:54:08 We went to, I forget the club. We went to the club in Boston. And we just said, give us 40 bottles of champagne. I don't know why. We just started spraying each other. It was because of 14. Remember 14 in LA. It started, it originated in LA at like the beach club, but we'd go,
Starting point is 00:54:31 we hired this guy and you, and, and we got 40 bottles of champagne and they brought them out in a wheelbarrow and then we're like, follow us. And we just walked, we walked around the whole place and we'd either spray it and then, and then bust it on the ground or just bust it on the ground. And then we gave a guy some money to follow us around with a broom
Starting point is 00:54:50 and like a pail just to pick up all the broken glass. All the broken glass. Just like complete destruction. Although we're walking down the street, wheelbarrow, and then a guy with a broom and we were just chugging champagne,
Starting point is 00:55:04 spraying it and breaking glass that's how you know you're balling yeah it was a snowstorm that night yeah it was reckless we started the night by coming off the
Starting point is 00:55:11 there was a lady stuck we got out of the car yeah we just won a Super Bowl we got out of the car to push her out yeah she was stuck in the snow
Starting point is 00:55:19 yeah some old lady on the bridge dude remember that yeah dude good Samaritans over here she was stuck old lady she's Louise what remember that yeah yeah good samaritans over here she was stuck old lady he's louise what about that harvey weinstein story hit the med gala oh yeah so we're pissing we're in the we're in the we're in the uh bathroom at the and i didn't know who he
Starting point is 00:55:36 was at the time neither and and so we kind of knew he was like you know big new york guy like fucking loved what do you like the jets or the giants giants giants so we're pissing right next to harvey weinstein and uh and jules is on one side i'm on the other and and harvey harvey's like as long as i'm in hollywood you will never work in show business playing for the patriots and i'm like and i go i go harvey as long as we're playing for the patriots the giants will never win the super bowl. God, his ass. Did you sneak a peek? I heard he had like a fucked up little dick. No, I didn't see it.
Starting point is 00:56:09 I didn't sneak a peek. One time I saw Alonzo. Are you a bird watcher, Jack? I saw Alonzo morning. We got a title for those guys in the shower. National Geographic Bird Watchers. I buy it. You watch your birds. I was at the Fountain Blue in Miami.
Starting point is 00:56:22 This was years ago. And I was peeing next to Alonzo Morning. I complimented his Rolex. Complimented. What about Mike Leach? Any Mike Leach stories? Man, the best, man. He's awesome.
Starting point is 00:56:37 We called him Hammered once, didn't we? Always, man. He's the type of guy that we'll call him Hammered at like 2, 3 in the morning, and he'll talk to you for like 2 hours. 2 hours. Yeah. Me and Chris Long used to do that all the call him hammered at like two, three in the morning. And he'll talk to you for like two hours, two hours. Yeah. Uh, me and Chris long used to do that all the time too.
Starting point is 00:56:48 It's, uh, is awesome, man. Rest in peace, Mike. He's, he's a,
Starting point is 00:56:52 uh, he was a special, special person. I got to spend a lot of time with him in Key West, uh, about two years ago. Um, in the off season,
Starting point is 00:56:59 sat at his bar, drank with him for three hours, talk shop, talk football, talk life. He had, he had such a unique way of just life lessons. And just he'd be talking about women's softball and try to,
Starting point is 00:57:14 and you'd get a new perspective on life by the end of the story. He's just like such an amazing individual, man. And a huge influence on my life. R.I.P. R.I.P. What about Kingsbury? Oh, Cliffy. Yeah, he's in USC living the dream right now, bro.
Starting point is 00:57:27 Is he going to? So do you think this whole thing with, I heard Caleb said he's not going to go to certain teams. Do you think a team may hire Cliff to be a head coach to flourish? Ooh. Well, Caleb? I mean, I think Cliff is an asset to any team he's on. You know, he's been a coach on every level.
Starting point is 00:57:46 And, you know, he's a smart offensive mind. And you see he knows talent when he sees it. Screw football talk. Tell us a good story. Any good Cliff stories we got? Cliff, he's in right now. He's in the penthouse at the Ritz-Carlton living the dream. Living the dream.
Starting point is 00:58:01 Coaching SC. Yeah. So he's got, he's, he's, he's got, he's in a great situation. Best Dana Holgersen. Holgersen.
Starting point is 00:58:14 Holgersen. Dana Holgersen. You met him actually one night. When? Here in Vegas when you and I were walking around the Cosmo
Starting point is 00:58:21 and he was playing blackjack one night. I'm like, yo, this is my guy. You got to meet him. And, uh, we chopped him up. We, I think we went out that night with him for a couple hours before it got a little he's a Houston head coach right yep yep he's a great he's a great dude man he's he's my Mr. Miyagi of football like he recruited me out of high school and taught me
Starting point is 00:58:37 how to play receiver yeah and really gave me more about you know what it takes mentally to you know approach the game and and And he's a great coach. Old Houston. Remember we talked to Houston? Yeah, yeah. Oh, my God. We walk in to talk to the University of Houston. We told this.
Starting point is 00:58:54 Go ahead. You told it. It's me and Jules are talking to the team, and Major Applewhite is the head coach of the team. And Major Applewhite is a legend in Texas. And Jules gets up there first thing he says oh I'd like to thank coach Applegate for
Starting point is 00:59:11 letting us come out today and I'm like it's Applewhite you idiot and then he goes alright I'd like to thank coach Applewood bro it's Applewhite. He's a legend. I told that story to Ricky Williams. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:59:28 Because Ricky Williams. Played with him. Yeah. Applewhite is the reason why Ricky Williams started smoking wheat. Applewhite, I think what he messed with, he was banging Ricky's girl while they were in the backfield together. That's too much. And then the Applewood story is perfect. together. That's, that's too much. And then,
Starting point is 00:59:45 yeah. So the Applewood story is perfect. Yeah. I mean, we got him back. We showed him it was boss. Yeah. We're Ricky guys.
Starting point is 00:59:52 Hey, Applewood. Hey, Applewood. They just, he just gave me like a, like a five minute introduction to about everything. You showing hell of respect.
Starting point is 01:00:01 I go, all right, thanks Applewood. I love that move. Hey boys, this is what we got to do. Forget everything your coach just said. Yeah, don't listen to him.
Starting point is 01:00:14 Fucking Applewood. Oh, man. Jackie, we miss anything? Oh, we got a couple little notes here. We're talking Mike Leach. We're talking Dana. Don't sleep on Iowaowa wesley and a lot of good football knowledge came out of a little school iowa wesley and also belichick no that
Starting point is 01:00:32 was wesleyan in mass here in mass yeah oh connecticut sorry sorry sorry dola two career touchdown passes in the nfl we were on that oneules, a notable touchdown pass in the NFL in this game, went back to Kent State where you played quarterback. Did the reverse. You had one catch in your college career. I did. Do you remember it? I do. It was a reverse pass?
Starting point is 01:00:58 It was Louisiana Lafayette. Yes! It was a throwback? I threw it and I threw it back and they threw it back to me yeah September 10th 2011 it was like a 10 yard gain
Starting point is 01:01:08 it was on third down first down first down that'll work bro one catch 11 yards that's sick you got it you nailed it brother
Starting point is 01:01:15 yeah we we lost the game in 2012 what's that 20 to 12 we lost yeah we

Starting point is 01:01:30 Hot. They used to have a sign like for intimidation. They'd have the thermometer that was like definitely like 15 degrees off. 15 degrees hotter. They had a sign next to it that said. It's 98. No, it said 13 feet below sea level. Yeah. Is it like Aquaman's about to pop out?
Starting point is 01:01:51 I don't know. I think it's just for humidity. Yeah. More humidity. It was fucking hot as balls. It's humid down there. It's hot. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:01:57 They used to have to put sand in the field turf because the rubber would melt. Yeah. They put sand in there. It would melt to the bottom of your cleats too and gunk up. Yeah. It put sand in there. It would melt to the bottom of your cleats and gunk up. Yeah. It was hot. Alright, here we go. Starting point is 01:05:55 What were the stars besides the players? Any stars at this game? Wahlberg sighting or anything? Not that I see in my records here. By the way, I have beef with Affleck still. Once we get him on, we can squash it. Yeah,
Starting point is 01:06:06 we'll squash it once we get him on here. That's the only way to squash it. Yeah, I remember watching ESPN one day. He was going on like a circuit
Starting point is 01:06:13 promoting some movie. He said Patriots receivers were dog shit or something. Yeah. Come on, Ben. We were drinking with you and Matt Damon at the fucking Met Gala.
Starting point is 01:06:24 Doing Boston accents. Boston accents. He said we were great. you and Matt Damon at the fucking Met Gala. Doing Boston accents. Boston accents. He said we were great. He lied to me, Ben. He fucking lied to me. I remember one time I walked into a party in LA and Ben was there and Matt Damon was there. And it was like, Matt Damon, Ben didn't recognize me, but Matt was like, that's Amendola. And then Ben Affleck comes up to me.
Starting point is 01:06:43 He's fucking tall, by the way. Yeah, he's tall. And he and he goes look at him he's so fucking little and he picks me up like a baby bro and Matt goes put him fucking put him down I can't believe Ben Affleck just picked me up like a fucking baby star power what's our
Starting point is 01:06:58 one out of ten here? I don't remember anybody there Brady you guys, Bill. Sex. Yeah, I mean. If Ray and Ed Reed were out there. Yeah, it's different. Would have bumped it up, but it's ain't that easy.
Starting point is 01:07:12 T-Sizzling got that star power Ray Ray and Eddie had. Sorry. And I love T-Sizz. Gameplay. This is a fucking great gameplay game. Come back down 14 twice. Good football. I mean
Starting point is 01:07:25 zero out of 10 what is it? It's up there but I say eight. I can say it's north of seven and a half. Yeah. North of seven and a half.
Starting point is 01:07:33 I like it. The name Double Comeback sounds like a sex position. It does. I don't know why. I gotta get my It's Vegas brother.
Starting point is 01:07:44 It's Vegas. It's because we're here at the Wynn. That's right. Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. And I was at the Wynn, Boston Harbor, a couple days ago. But the name,
Starting point is 01:07:54 what's the score of the name, Dola? What do you think? It's pretty tight, man. I mean, it's up there. Pretty tight? Pretty tight, man. What do you think? How does this compare
Starting point is 01:08:04 to all the other names of your games let's see eight and a half eight and a half nah seven and a half seven and a half
Starting point is 01:08:14 eight eight eight eight eight so what's our seven and a half is our
Starting point is 01:08:20 eight eight eight flat eight's the total where's it ranks Jackie Tyler this one There's eight, eight, eight flat. Where's it ranks? Jackie, Tyler. This one is coming in just in front of Superbowl 27 Cowboys bills with Michael Irvin. Um, and it is just above the Celtics-Lakers wheelchair game.
Starting point is 01:08:46 So it's sandwiched in between those two games for an eight flat. Did he shit his pants? We asked him. I actually just saw Paul Pierce at the fucking... We flew out of LA together. No way. Yesterday.
Starting point is 01:08:58 He's celebrating his birthday. Happy birthday, Paul Pierce. You want to tell him the story about hanging with Paul Pierce? I guess everybody knows that story. Can we tell that story? Hood Slide? Hood Slide?
Starting point is 01:09:07 I've told it a hundred times. It's a good one, though. Start seeing Hutch across the front of a Benz. Wasn't there like a jewelry heist across the street and bottles of tequila? Yeah, fuck that. There was a raid and we were forced to drink for three hours. Forced? We just got eliminated.
Starting point is 01:09:26 Was it somebody's birthday too? Eric? Might have been Eric's birthday. Yeah, it was Eric's birthday. Shout out Eric. Shout out Eric. Litmo. We miss anything, Jack? No, we were good about a couple corrections. We're good, babe. You got any plugs? You want to plug anything?
Starting point is 01:09:42 JE11 Incorporated slash Hair Joe backslash trademark. Add Danny Amendola on Instagram. Add me. Add Danny Amendola
Starting point is 01:09:53 80? No, no 80. No 80? Just Danny Amendola. That's it. We got it. We got it.
Starting point is 01:09:58 Do we get no special forces or anything coming up? No, they're in their second season. I think three episodes have played so far. Des Bryant's already out.
Starting point is 01:10:07 Already out? Already out. Why? I don't know. After competing, are you watching as a fan now? I caught up the other day. I watched two of them in the first,
Starting point is 01:10:15 you know, in an hour. And it's pretty interesting. They're in the cold weather this year. So I don't know. I would have done that. That's tough. Cold's hard.
Starting point is 01:10:22 Frozen. I'd rather go with heat. Water. Heat's easy. Yeah, heat's easy. Cold's hard. Frozen. I'd rather go with heat. Water. Heat's easy. Yeah, heat's easy. Heat's easy. And it was dry heat? It was dry heat.
Starting point is 01:10:30 It was like 115 during the day. It was hot, but not really that hot. And then at night it'd get down to like 75. You live in Austin. That place is fucking hot. Yeah, it's humid. In the summer. Humid, hot.
Starting point is 01:10:41 Oh, it's as big as bats. Backyard. There's tarantulas in your backyard. Yeah, no question. I saw a tarantula. It was the hairiest spider I've ever seen. Backyard. There's tarantulas in your backyard. Yeah, no question. I saw a tarantula. It was the hairiest spider I've ever seen. Yes, we have tarantulas, scorpions, snakes. We got the whole thing.
Starting point is 01:10:52 Raccoons, armadillos. Whoa, look at Danny. Leading the charge. We're checking out his Instagram right now. He's my guy. This is really good podcasting. If you look, I mean. Go back.
Starting point is 01:11:03 Go, Kyler, go up. Who do you pay to get these photos? These are great photos. Look at the new England Patriots shirt. That's, that's tight. A little bit. That's my thoughts become things,
Starting point is 01:11:13 bro. Look, check it out, man. That's what it is. Thoughts become things. I knew it was an Instagram post. I didn't even know it was,
Starting point is 01:11:20 but it just sounded like a Danny Instagram post in my head. So you were thinking about it. So maybe that thought is a reality. post in my head. So you were thinking about it? So maybe that thought is a reality. I thought about it. You thought about it. And then it actually happened. See how that works? That rocks. You know, I miss you. I miss working with you.
Starting point is 01:11:38 I love you. Thanks for coming on Bubs. Love you too brother. I miss you. Now you want to hit the tables? Let's get out of here. Let's get out of here. Let's get out of here. What an episode. You always get a couple good stories out of that little handsome joker. Cool, dude. What a cool dude.
Starting point is 01:11:51 Cool is the other side of the pillow. I mean, I thought you were cool, but don't let's drive one. No, he's way cooler. No. He's pretty cool. You know what else is really cool, Jack? Who's that? The Wynn Casino and Hotel Resort that we're at right now.
Starting point is 01:12:01 The coolest. We're shooting here. The coolest. It's so cool. In the words of Billy Madison. Chlorophyll? More like borophyll. Let's get some of these bypasser questions.
Starting point is 01:12:14 Steve from Green Bay. Why is Aaron Rodgers the best QB ever? Well, Steve, he's not the best QB ever. Where's my ISO cam? Pipe down, Steve. My broadcast coach told me I got to flirt with that ISO cam. I got to start practicing it right now. No, Steve.
Starting point is 01:12:30 He's not the best ever. He's a great thrower. He's a great thrower of the football. Unbelievable. Probably the best I've ever seen. But I didn't get to see Dan Marino. That's recency bias. Everyone says Dan Marino could just sling that thing.
Starting point is 01:12:43 What do you think, Jackie? That was a well-thought-out answer. Was it? Supported it well. Recency bias. I like that. Yeah. Brady, baby.
Starting point is 01:12:50 We're Tom guys. We're BB. I'm not talking Belichick. Best QB ever. I'm talking Brady, baby. Best QB ever. How many rings has Rodgers got? How many rings has he got?
Starting point is 01:12:58 He's got one. That's it. That was like 20 years ago. I don't know. I mean, Aaron's good. He's really good. He's elite at throwing. The two things that stand out in my mind are getting injured this year
Starting point is 01:13:10 and Jimmy G going in there and busting him a couple years ago. As a Niner. As a Niner. You know what? That makes me so happy. I remember I used to hate back in the 90s. Every year it seemed like Steve Young would bring us down to Green Bay in a divisional round or championship game,
Starting point is 01:13:24 and they'd knock our heads right off. Until that one time when Green Bay came to the candlestick and T.O. was dropping a bunch of balls and Steve hit him on the last play, split the cover too. You remember that? And then he was crying. I was slightly before my time. I got to look that up.
Starting point is 01:13:42 It's weird to think T.O. and Steve Young. What? It's just weird to me. They played a lot. I know, but it's just weird to me. Actually, that was like his last year. Steve started getting some concussies. I always think Jeff Garcia.
Starting point is 01:13:56 All right, well, we can get off this question. I love Jeff Garcia. Underrated. San Jose State Spartan. Sarah from New York City, that is. Is Zach Wilson going to make it? What's he going to make? His bed?
Starting point is 01:14:11 What's he making? Making something with her mom, probably. Jeez, Jack. Sorry, sorry, sorry. I saw the meme before this. I saw the meme. He does like MILFs. He does.
Starting point is 01:14:23 It's a meme now. It is a meme. Zach Wilson, is he going to make it? I don't think he's going to make it. I don't know. But I don't want to say anything because we all saw how the world reacted to Rodney Harrison calling him trash. I wouldn't call him trash. Make some throws.
Starting point is 01:14:41 Rodney's getting heat. Heat. Speaking of heat, Heat 2 is coming out. You hear that? Michael Mann, brother. We love Michael Mann on this show. I'm reading the book. You read the book?
Starting point is 01:14:49 Nah, I'm reading books, Jack. We'll wait for the movie. Barely read the damn teleprompter. Fuck out of here. All right, let's get Alex from Tampa. Want to know what Tom Brady smells like. He smells like success. And he always smells good. He smells like success. And he always smells good.
Starting point is 01:15:05 He really does. I used to go and steal some of his cologne when he'd leave. I'd be last one there. Go over to Tom's locker, open that bad boy, get a couple sprays, feeling lucky,
Starting point is 01:15:19 feeling handsome. He smells rich. Look like money, play like money, smell like money. Yeah, fucking Tom. he was a very big uh he was very big with uh the toiletries like all he always had like a little he had like a little thing where he would bring his own little uh little kit to the showers and like he'd always have two showers on him he would steal two showers he'd have one for his front
Starting point is 01:15:44 and one he'd be in the corner and there'd be one in the front, one on his back. And they're like, Brady, you got two showers? That's how you know you're balling.
