Starting point is 00:00:00 We just dropped some new merch. We got a chug shirt, a pizza shirt, even a hot heat shirt, like the one currently on my body. Head over to Garza Podcast.myshopify.com. That's Garza podcast.com. Or click the link below. Love you guys. Hello. And this one plays way better.
Starting point is 00:00:49 Better action. Got to fix the other guy. How are we doing, Jay? Good, Roland. Oh, should we just go? All right. Yeah, good morning. Good afternoon.
Starting point is 00:01:03 Good night. Holy crap. You know what's awesome? Man, not being sick. Physically, like the physical, I mean, it's cool to be sick, but not physically ill. It definitely makes you grateful to when you're feeling, oh man, when you're sick, sucks but but those like the next day when you start to feel better oh man it's just you're like oh i could i could conquer the world right now man i feel like i could do anything but yeah i'm glad
Starting point is 00:01:41 we did the last one that that last solo sucks i'm trying to uh get some redemption points right now but uh yeah i'm glad we didn't cancel um i started getting sick on literally it was uh it was Tuesday and then that was the day that Zach Wilde came in and then I woke up and I was like today today I'm going to start getting sick oh that sucked dude that freaking sucked but you know I mean this whole thing has really taught me just to uh just be professional you know I guarantee you If anyone watched this, no one knew I was sick. I was really about, no one knew I was getting a headache. No one knew I had, but that's what, you know, we've all, we've all been there.
Starting point is 00:02:34 We've all been there. You have something going on in your personal life or, I mean, you're not feeling well. But man, you got to, you got to go to work. That's, no, no one cares, man. You got to, you know, you got to drop in and just, uh, just do it. And it's awesome because as humans, we're, We're definitely capable more than we think. But yeah, I hope we enjoyed last week.
Starting point is 00:03:05 It was a big week for us. It was kind of like a secret. You know, I've been talking with Zach's team for a while. And again, you know, I don't, I try not to get too excited about stuff because I never believe it until their ass cheeks. The flesh on their ass is connected to. this couch. Until it's there, I really don't believe it. But it happened. His team's awesome. Everyone at 5B, Mario 5B, thank you for that. Priscilla. It was awesome, man. What a different, Zach has his own cadence, cadence of speaking and his own humor, which is exactly what you want, you know.
Starting point is 00:03:55 my best to be present in the moment. Again, uh, that day I was very, uh, it was day one of becoming physically ill. And I was like, of course is today. What other day would have happened then today? That's life. That's, that's, that's God just fucking with you. And then, uh, literally I, I pulled up, little like, little like behind the scene stuff. Uh, I parked here.
Starting point is 00:04:22 And then, uh, I, I just sat in my car. And then I recorded a video. I was like, I want to document this. I kind of, it was kind of cool. And I recommend maybe you could try it. Okay, I'm feeling a certain way. I don't have my journal. So you know what?
Starting point is 00:04:43 I'm going to record like a quick, like one minute video. And it's not for the internet. It might be, it might not. I don't know. I'm just going to record it. I'm going to do a stream of consciousness when I'm feeling. literally sat there and I just I prayed the God I literally prayed um to uh open my heart and uh clear my mind because I cannot do it by myself and uh because I have a lot of personal stuff going on
Starting point is 00:05:13 outside the pot which we all do you know so I'm I guess uh you could look at me to see how I'm handling it um let's see this is Monday literally this week um in the middle of like a transitional point could be a major transition point in my personal life but uh it doesn't matter um you gotta compartmentalize
Starting point is 00:05:36 and this thing has taught me probably one of the biggest things I learned from this past five years compartmentalizing um it's definitely I've had this conversation with my lady it kind of makes you feel like
Starting point is 00:05:51 bipolar or like schizo or like a fucking psycho like just one moment you're this way and then the next you switch your brain and put on a whole other hat um but it's it's very doable you know i'm an example like i i did not have that um are we are we already during our first rant but it was cool uh yeah i made then i looked at it i watched it i'm like okay it's interesting i'm probably not going to post this on on the internet but it's cool i'm maybe uh you know that might help you out if you're trying to process some some thoughts that's what that's what i did that moment it's kind of wanted to like document um a moment in time like this little snapshot because we worked me and jabe
Starting point is 00:06:41 been working our asses off for this one moment and then of course sometimes it's not even about that moment it's like you're going to have things going on around you and how are we going to handle that to make sure this moment you've been working towards. It's cool. But, man, what a trip. Just looking across me and I'm looking in Zach Wilde's eyes. It's like, holy shit, Zach Wilde. I'm just looking at him.
Starting point is 00:07:12 Not just with him, but in public. I like to feel my heart and kind of let my bones just kind of be bones. Just like kind of let your just drop whatever, just trying to be present and I literally just stuff
Starting point is 00:07:31 things I do with friends or out where I chose that's how I don't, that's why a person go out. How I go to shows I'm not nervous or no anxiety. Just kind of chilling.
Starting point is 00:07:42 I did the same thing here. Try to be present in the moment when you're talking to a other human and given the my personal circumstances, I'm very surprised how it turned out. Given my complete
Starting point is 00:07:58 mind warping, I've been going through the past few weeks. I think I'm pretty proud of myself putting on a whole other hat. It's cool. You know, if I, it's a cliche. If I could do it, anyone can. And again, I think they call that being professional. That guitar he had, I wish I played it longer. Remember he gave me the guitar and I started playing a clean riff and I was like, oh shit, but I don't want to overtake the moment and now I look back and I wish I played it more
Starting point is 00:08:36 because I felt a riff kind of coming out, but it's also weird because it's like, wow, it's looking at you, you know, and I don't know how to solo or do anything like impressive. I wish, but I did wish I kind of kept it longer, like, because something kind of came out. And it felt the action on it was really fucking sick. I was, oh, shit, like, whatever a string gauge he had, I mean, the woods are identical to, like, all my offenders. It felt, I mean, the action and the, and the sound was like, oh, shit, this is fucking, this is awesome. Yeah, I wish I played it longer, man, but when I didn't give me a pick, I don't even remember that. Fuck.
Starting point is 00:09:21 Oh, man, what a. Great dude. Again, his own guy walks the beat of his own drum. See, why'd I stop? I wish it. Oh, that's all right. It's all right. Maybe there'll be next time. Hey, Jay, did you have any, uh... I mean, you've seen this thing, bro, and you finally had a... fine got to me to do like Zach. How was that for you?
Starting point is 00:09:57 It was pretty surreal. Seeing this guy everywhere, you know? A lot of people that come through here, it's like... You hold them in high regard and then they come, they come through. And it's just like, oh, it's just a dude, you know? Yeah. But he was super chill, super humble. That's, I guess what I'm trying to say is that he's very kind of warm and just down to earth, really, which was cool.
Starting point is 00:10:17 And funny. I didn't expect him to be so damn funny. Oh, he was funny as fuck, dude. Own humor. Own humor combined with its own cadence. It's like, it's hard to nail in real time. Like, this is happening right now. I can't, like, do it over.
Starting point is 00:10:30 It was his own humor A really funny guy Really really dry humor Humor but it's cool And you also got your picture Oh yeah I did I didn't post it Did I have a lot of pictures
Starting point is 00:10:44 Just in my camera rule Yeah That should probably I'll do a little dump you know Yeah we're just taking pictures We don't even post them It's like why why are we taking pictures And we don't even look at them
Starting point is 00:10:55 Dude I was looking at my photos In my phone I'm like there's like 2,000 photos. I'm never going to look these ever again. Yeah. But you probably do a little little photo dump.
Starting point is 00:11:09 Yeah, I'll do a little dumb, you know. It's a... I forget how you know, friends are like pretty stoked that we're here and that we get to meet these people. So it would be fun to share.
Starting point is 00:11:23 A little more, I guess. It's work. Sharon's work. Yeah, and I'm like, I'm like, maybe it's my moment you know maybe I don't want to share maybe fuck y'all no I'm kidding oh yeah of course
Starting point is 00:11:36 dude sometimes I'm like maybe this is like your personal moment and that's it yeah especially get older you know dude you have a show coming up right oh yeah yeah I'm a band the dark a la moray put it right here uh yeah we got a show I guess today's Wednesday that's tomorrow
Starting point is 00:11:55 and Friday a couple of little little uh little a little warm up shows, I guess. I guess the real shows, but, you know. Sick. First ones in a while. It'd be sick. Cool. You guys renting a van?
Starting point is 00:12:11 We got a little U-Haul trailer. Nice. To stuff all the shit so we don't want to get all scattered out everywhere. Nice. But yeah, a San Diego Thursday and then Bill Gardens on Friday. Where's that? Bill Gardens. It's L.A. somewhere. Bill Gardens.
Starting point is 00:12:29 There go. By Downy. Oh, by Downy. Okay. Dione I guess that'd be Oh shit South L.A. Oh yeah you're not like you're kind of close Yeah yeah
Starting point is 00:12:41 So that's Friday Friday fuck I'm trying out with some Some L.A. homies My East L.A. Oh then the old Dude
Starting point is 00:12:51 The old crew's gonna come out Start freaking getting hammered Is your lady going? I think Friday yeah Friday cool Yeah Maybe I might I might pop in.
Starting point is 00:13:03 Yeah, that'd be cool. Probably be chill, you know, low-key. Yeah, it's right there. Yeah. I think I got hit up by your drummer. Oh, for real? Yeah, come on to the show Friday. I'm like, well, really?
Starting point is 00:13:14 Okay. Oh, well, okay. Yeah, it's not far. Okay. If there's no trap, then it's not far. It's not far. Yeah, I appreciate it, man. Put it on a little bit.
Starting point is 00:13:25 Yeah, man. Big things coming. Good luck, dude. Thank you. Local band, big things coming. Hell yeah. If you, uh, if you're one of the few that ordered the very limited, uh, suicide silence EP vinyl from wax vessel, those I've been getting, I've been seeing photos. I those pop around. So those officially shipped out. Um, yeah, I started getting photos around the weekend. So there's probably, you're probably all kidding them now in real time. And, uh, dude, the photos I've been seen, like, jeez.
Starting point is 00:14:01 dude, they're like, they're like, uh, like art pieces. Like how, like how do they, how do they make it look like that? Like you could just,
Starting point is 00:14:13 you could just do a psychedelic and just look at it. I think a wax post. Oh yeah, there you go. Boom. Yeah, all right. Let's see.
Starting point is 00:14:26 Mangled Wax Cathedral got his in his hand or her internet. Wow. What the fuck? How do you even do that? How do you print that? And other ones are insane. Like the, wow, it looks like Mars. It kind of looks like a planet.
Starting point is 00:14:53 Wow. Some of those are a one-on-one. What the fuck. 71. Wow. And there was one last one I saw. See, too, that's shit like that. How do you?
Starting point is 00:15:13 Wow. Yeah, they're like art pieces. Beautiful, man. You just get high as fucking as look at it. You only have to go outside. So yeah, thank you to whoever bought them. I've been speaking with a few people via Instagram. And, oh, wow, it's like a, it's like a flower.
Starting point is 00:15:44 I'm sorry if you're just listening. We're, like, tripping out over, like, the look of it. it's i don't understand how you and it works like it's like a working vinyl but this the art on it is like it's insane wow beautiful yeah and i have a even which i mean by the time this comes out that's that's that's insane beautiful by the time this comes out unfortunately i think when i'm saying it's pointless but uh there's a few more left like I think they're called like mages or mages
Starting point is 00:16:30 only go out to band members and yeah those are going to a few people that I've been talking to via Instagram so thank you for that those will be shipping out or probably already shipped out by the time you're watching listening to this again thank you for supporting supporting EP
Starting point is 00:16:47 what the fuck dude okay now I'm being tripped out sick artwork I remember when like the picture disc was like a big deal. Like now you put a photo on on the vinyl. What the heck? But this is like a whole other level of like, uh, of art. I'm still debating if I'm going to keep one or not.
Starting point is 00:17:17 I'm still debating. Um, unfortunately, well, not unfortunately. Just I'm in a point in my life where it's just like I don't want anything in my house. Um, t-shirts. Like, was just, And it's just trying to think sis Come out of nowhere
Starting point is 00:17:35 And they're in your room Like what the hell would happen? How am I? Why do I have 20 shirts I don't wear? But again, yeah, thank you for Two ever bought those And I am liking the
Starting point is 00:17:48 I got a few videos Of people actually playing it I'm like damn, that's sick You like they see it spinning Like what the hell? I wonder there's any I don't think there's any Any of us tagged in it
Starting point is 00:18:02 But the one's spinning are fucking crazy. I think I only got in my stories, but pretty gnarly. Look at one more spot. Which is my personal. It's only photos. Shit. At the end, I only got them in my story.
Starting point is 00:18:26 That's so sick. Again, shout out. All right, I think we're ready to, again, I try to make this condensed and now we're already 20 minutes in. Let's hop into some quick. Questions? Got a few? Okay, here we go. Question number one from Billy Loomis 13-7.
Starting point is 00:18:52 At what point should I stop chasing tone? Or is that a stupid question? I believe there is such thing as stupid questions. I ask a lot of them, but this is not. I think this varies from player to player. Coming from someone that's chase tone, got it and lost it and looking for the thing they already found, it's a,
Starting point is 00:19:19 you're on a fine line of, like the blessing is a curse. Like your search and you're trying to find your sound and you might even find it and not even know you had it. And then you keep searching. I think that's where it gets kind of a at some point you find like you find it
Starting point is 00:19:42 so I guess like the dumb answer is stop chasing when you find it again from my personal experience yeah I really wish I stopped chasing tone let's see I found the tone literally 2007
Starting point is 00:20:03 that was the tone So you're going to do math When I started playing guitar I think I started playing at 98 I think So probably nine years I guess you could say From getting my first guitar To chasing
Starting point is 00:20:24 I mean you're talking like I was buying amps on eBay Selling them buying guitars selling them Washing dishes Not going out my friends Buying gear selling it just trying to find it but then like there's there's a few guitars i didn't talk about it like prior like i had some
Starting point is 00:20:43 really cool ones and i don't know why i just sold them again um but i wish when i had the pv 51 52 i stopped it's already there you have it you have it um but yeah that was just that was a special sound like the pv 51 52 through a crank cabs that was a special uh sound but yeah when do you stop chasing tone and then when do you know when you found something i guess that's your question and i'm trying to process it in real time only because am i in my personal experience when do you stop chasing it when when when do you know when do you know hmm it's hard to even give an answer because i didn't stop i just kept going like a fucking idiot um
Starting point is 00:21:41 man i wish i stopped in that era you got it now just go on to the fucking you know who did that right was corn they found their tone they're same heads forever like that's just same heads same guitars I wish i did the same thing every record should have been with a pv 50152 um yeah it's that again, it's a blessing and a curse because what's driving you, you're searching,
Starting point is 00:22:19 but that same drive will actually, you'll overshoot. And when you find something, like, oh, no, I got to, it can't be this. And you keep searching. And that's what, that's where I fucked up when sometimes you have something right in front of you and you don't even see it. Very common. I still struggle with that. But when do you stop? What do you think, Jay?
Starting point is 00:22:46 When do you stop chasing tone? Probably never. And also, they keep making new shit. So that's why we keep trying stuff, you know? Mm-hmm. I mean, you got the... I know, I got the quad. You got the quad.
Starting point is 00:23:00 I guess if I could do it all over again, I'm really trying to share an experience because I can't give advice because I'll be a hypocrite. Because I didn't stop. And like what Jay said, it's funny because now I had the quad cortex. And what I'm trying to do with it is actually capture what I had and make it come out of this.
Starting point is 00:23:28 So not abusing technology, but using it more as a tool, which I think a lot of the people really struggle with. They try to, they're tone searching, tone searching, tone searching. and then they have all this new shit's coming out and go ahead, I got to try a new shit and then they use the technology as a as an end-all
Starting point is 00:23:48 as a B-all as opposed to. It's all a tool. Everything's a tool. And I'm doing it right now. Like, this is a tool. It's not everything. I'm trying to literally capture a certain sound that I had, like, around that special era,
Starting point is 00:24:08 like, 2007. 6 to 2008. I'm trying to capture that. And what's crazy is the quad can do it. I think it's going to take a little bit more searching, but knowing when does stop. What actually I've been doing recently, which might help you,
Starting point is 00:24:28 is what's just was a tip I got from Ross Robinson. When you start laughing, or when you stop writing music and you're hanging out with your friends outside and having open conversations, stop whatever the fuck you're doing. Stop fucking with it. It's done.
Starting point is 00:24:45 Like it has like a special sauce. I was like, oh shit. That is true. And I still kind of keep that advice today. Something makes me laugh or something unexplainable happens. I'm searching for a tone and I feel more open, I guess, after it's done or I'm done recording or I'm done,
Starting point is 00:25:09 playing guitar i go out i'm on a phone i'm more open kind of i use that as uh what what's the word thermometer like my my gauge to oh that's done why am i searching when it's already fucking done i'm not going to make it better because making it better actually will make it worse and that's a very coming from me it's an everyday everyday battle um it doesn't get easier for me um so uh Yeah, again, I think the closest off, I think it varies from player to player. You've got to be pretty present in the moment to understand when to stop. So Billy and to the world, good luck. And welcome to my world.
Starting point is 00:25:55 It's a everyday, everyday balance. And sick. And speaking of, so I kind of lined up these questions that kind of build on each other. and this is actually this one might fuck me up um all right ghostline 9927 now
Starting point is 00:26:19 I put myself in the fucking corner what was the decision back in a day to stop using triple wrecks love you Garzo love you too tone searching for no fucking reason Convierce your passion in a
Starting point is 00:26:36 business with Shopify and bathe records of with the form of paying with a better conversion of the world. You've heard well. The best
Starting point is 00:26:44 conversion of the world. The incredible system of Shopify facilita the on your website,
Starting point is 00:26:50 in the social and in the world. That is music for your ears. No,
Starting point is 00:26:55 you're more your business will be a super-exit with Shopify. Empeas your period
Starting point is 00:27:00 of a month in Shopify point S bar records. That's why I... Um... We stopped using...
Starting point is 00:27:13 50s after the first record, started using Triple Rex. Because they're kind of one in the, like... All my favorite bands in the 90s used them. I liked the tone. I was paying attention to... bands around me. Which I still do today.
Starting point is 00:27:36 Like today, I try not to do that, because the cleansing comes out, the EP and cleansing comes out, everyone rips it off, and we kind of got put in the corner, it's like, okay, we got to reinvent our tone, which, looking back, I wish I just stayed there, and my heart told everyone to fuck off. But the same thing, I just want to, oh, it's, I don't have my tone yet, just kept searching. And why we stopped using, so I want to say it was no time to bleed. Black Crown, the first record with Eddie, was all with the triple wreck. And then we stopped using them because I was trying to find the tone we had.
Starting point is 00:28:22 So that's actually, so it's this weird full circle moment where started using triple wrecks. And then we stopped using triple wrecks to still a tone chase, but chase the tone that we had prior. Yeah, I kind of did this on purpose. I want to back myself in Tune Corner. But it's sad. But it's an awesome head, though. Like it, I mean, a lot of bands use them. I think I've seen a lot of deathcore bands use them.
Starting point is 00:28:57 Like those triple wrecks are just like, they're amazing amps. Those early 90s, two channel ones, if you put like a drive in front of it, any kind of like, two screamer or fuzz, like, it's just like, Man, there's There's something to it. The best that had us ever sounded,
Starting point is 00:29:21 we did the Warp Tour 2010, and I had this Schechter. It was a Schechter Blackjack. And for some reason, that particular guitar sounded amazing. Dude, that current triple record I had. Yeah, that guitar, I should
Starting point is 00:29:40 have kept it. I used it for you only once, and I know where it is, but that guitar sounded a killer. Tone chasing, this might be the whole this might be the vibe of the whole podcast.
Starting point is 00:30:02 Stop tone chasing. Just talking about it. I'm confusing myself. I'm getting kind of pissed. I'm like, oh man, tone chasing could be it could be a blessing and it could also piss you off because when you lose it, it just, you lose something
Starting point is 00:30:17 really special. That guitar sounded really good. That was I got it in I think I got it 2010, like early 2010, so whatever guitars were coming out in that era from Schechter was pretty fucking sick.
Starting point is 00:30:35 I want to say the body is mahogany. I want to say neck through, which all Schechter's are in the scale is 26.5 which is why I use them. Got that from Schechter. Really, it's It sounded really fucking sick, dude.
Starting point is 00:30:56 Through Mesa cabs, which even through the tone chasing, the Mesa cabs kind of work for each era. There's something about those caps, like straight Mesa's. You're just like, it kind of, it definitely transcends eras and old school with modern. It's kind of just, I don't know what it is about those cabs. sounds fucking sick but before I get pissed let's move on
Starting point is 00:31:32 but yeah if you're gonna get a cab man that's the cab so yeah that's why I stopped using triple rex was to recapture we got EBHs now to recapture the sound
Starting point is 00:31:46 that we had but they're great triples are awesome and thank you for your question oh here we go it's your boy 3870 just bought
Starting point is 00:32:01 a new fuss pedal any recommendations on any new pedals I should own or perhaps some of your favorites so I do have a favorite would this be a fuzz yeah we talked about it briefly
Starting point is 00:32:18 but uh yeah I got the spline laboratories cathedral um I think this is because not glues kind of ruin the swollen pickle and
Starting point is 00:32:37 and the fuzz game it kind of got like people were trying to copy that so I didn't want to I want to something heavy but not the swollen pickle they really kind of ruined that whole it's a great pedal though it sounds fucking crazy
Starting point is 00:32:53 if you user right but I got one I was like okay I I get it. I was like, I need something different. What's like, it's there, but it's not exactly what I want.
Starting point is 00:33:10 And then literally, right before I got the cathedral, I was looking to rip off the guitar tone for Orgy's Candy Ass. No one talks about that record. Like, that, that, that, guitar tone is so over the top and I was trying to do some research and I really couldn't find much about that record
Starting point is 00:33:37 which is strange it's a platinum record but it's a I mean those guitars for like Blue Monday that I cover it's just like a fucking it's fucked that a that guitar tone is just
Starting point is 00:33:52 really over the top maybe we could find something and also that record combined Yeah, so doing this, then I found the boss FZ2 hyperfuzz. So
Starting point is 00:34:17 given the era, I'm pretty sure it's this pedal, the boss hyperfuzz, the FZ2. And also I heard a rumor that Coal Chamber on Chamber music used the same pedal,
Starting point is 00:34:31 which is the same tone I wanted to rip off. I wanted to rip off candy-ass Orgy, chamber music from Cold Chamber. Because those two guitar tones are like, over the top. You're just like, what the fuck is that? And given the era, and a couple of
Starting point is 00:34:44 websites I found the boss hyperfuzz. So it was around the same time where it's like, I, I might buy this pedal because no one's using it. Everyone's all about knock loose and no one's being original. So I was like, you know what? I'm just going to buy the hyperfuzz. And then put it through like the quad cortex, you find like the two modern meets. old school and then around that time I think I talked about already I was scrolling Instagram and I found some kid
Starting point is 00:35:16 um I think he's in a band called Pacer um shit I don't want I don't want to get this wrong um and he had a strat and was chugging and was like super insanely
Starting point is 00:35:33 heavy um he was playing a friend I was like oh shit that's that's what I'm looking for. I clicked it and I found out he was using this cathedral. Did research on the cathedral. Found out their exclusive pedals.
Starting point is 00:35:50 They only do seasonal drops, which I think it's really smart. And I hit him up and luckily they were shipping some out in that moment and I got one. They saved me the pink one given the vibe of the podcast, which I really appreciate.
Starting point is 00:36:10 So I almost bought the hyperfuzz. But right when I was going to buy it, I found this thing. And I got it. And yeah, it has the, it has the unexplainable sound I'm looking for. Without giving out too many secrets, I'm planning to use it in a certain way. Because again, I'm all about combining modern and old school. using as a tool people get guitar players get carried away
Starting point is 00:36:41 you're like it's all about gear and then you want to like when the X effects came out it's ruined everything but actually I have it here it's uh connected to my board so I can't really like take it off it's like really screwed in there
Starting point is 00:36:56 but I gave it a little taste last time and also I miss my purple strat so I'm using that this has way better action the white one hasn't got a reset yet. I need to take that defender to fix the action. If the action is way better. Okay. So no, no fuzz. It's normal chug no horse. And here's with the fuzz. And then you can have like there's three different settings,
Starting point is 00:37:42 which I'm actually still experimenting with. Here's the, I think this is the over the top setting. So yeah, there's a, I'm not really on that one. I'm usually on the first one. It's kind of like a, you know, like little T's. And this is the other one, which I never even played this one before. So I might sound like shit. Um, that's cool. Kind of cool. I'll do all, I'm gonna do all three at once.
Starting point is 00:38:43 So this is the, the first setting. Middle. Okay, so it kind of sounds like a, it kind of builds, kind of builds, but I'm usually at like the middle one. But it sounds like the bottom one, the last one is like that super over the top. It kind of sounds like, uh, kind of sounds like bludgeon a little. bit. Pretty cool. Yes, that's my favorite. It's my favorite fuzz puddle. And in my spare time,
Starting point is 00:39:36 this is actually, this is actually what I'm doing. So as I was saying earlier, I wanted to rip off orgy candy ass. Um, so what's that song? Everyone knows. Blue Monday. Oh wait, there it is. Just like over the fucking top, dude. And this is what? And this is what? without with it's pretty much it's pretty much a hyperfuzz but sicker everything i want from the hyperfuzz it does but makes it way better with more options because this also has something called a it's a which uh if you're just listening or watching uh we'll do a separate um angle and i'll show you the uh settings but it has a called glare glare glare a glare setting i think it's more like like an octa kind of hidden octave is really cool
Starting point is 00:41:20 what's the other orgy song it's uh there it is yeah that oh that's that's fucking that i think it's uh stitches i think but uh yeah if you're in a mood um for something different jam that record there's a few rips in there that are fucking
Starting point is 00:42:01 it's heavy dude and uh and the cold chamber i think that uh inspired me was uh just like an over the fucking top dude So you see it's like this adds like this It adds like a weird like dimension to it when it's uh so off And then you have a double track and then you have the bass
Starting point is 00:43:04 You just made like back in a day just remember being a kid like what the fuck is that And uh It's kind of funny like the whole fuss thing happening right now No one talks about those records No one talks about candy ass her chamber music which to me like That's what I was inspired by that's what I was ripping off and it's funny being a 40 year old man uh listening old the new bands coming out the new gear like i'm going you know i'm taking from bands that no one else is taking it from
Starting point is 00:43:38 me one's about like knock loose and all that stuff which is cool but this is really like no one really talks about those fucking records dude i mean super so again if you're uh in the mood for some different chamber music and uh candy ass i should probably do a deep dive on i don't know's records like one solo i'll do like a deep dive on both of them they're very uh unique but yeah again a shout out to cathedral it's by far my favorite uh fuzz pedal i don't think there's anything like it i'm pretty much done uh shopping around uh it does everything i need it goes new metal it goes a little bit cleaner got the over the top um excuse me so i mean yeah their builder is fucking he did a phenomenal job so again i think they're still doing the seasonal drop thing i'm pretty sure um where it's like
Starting point is 00:44:45 i think they only come out with like a few and they always sell out i think they have an email waiting list too so if you're looking to get one like you can't just like show up and buy one Sold out. Boom. Always, always sold out. And I think you got to join a list that you want to get guaranteed. So if you're curious, we got, it's 279 Canadian. Is that, is that Canadian? Okay, cool. So 279 Canadian. And for me, I mean, this is, I mean, literally, it's on my board. Like if I'm going to fly somewhere. So, okay, so in U.S., United States dollar, $2,000. 79 is actually 203
Starting point is 00:45:30 99. So $203.99. So $203.99. So that's worth every penny. They have hats and what are keychains? Jet. Oh, Jet tag? What the fuck is that? I think it's a fancy word for keychain. Okay. It's jet tag. So it's a fucking keychain. But yeah, I mean, if I'm going to play a show,
Starting point is 00:45:56 I mean, it's literally on my board. It's on my this is the board where it's like if I want to go play a show right now somewhere this is all I have this is exactly what I want noise gate and a sick ass fuzz
Starting point is 00:46:10 I can pretty much do anything so that's a big I've been meeting a shout out for a long time I've had this pedal for a minute I always felt bad I've been shouting out other pedals but uh so yeah
Starting point is 00:46:23 if you want to fuzz check it out it's one of my secrets one of my secrets I'm sharing with you without giving too much away what I'm doing with it it is going to be in my arsenal of destruction
Starting point is 00:46:37 if I don't quit the ban cool I think should we do one more I want to fuck actually let's see the last one yeah because time is flying by I'm trying to make this more condensed
Starting point is 00:46:54 okay last one last question XX Bigaman XX Can we get a bean and cheese Bredo count on the month? Oh geez.
Starting point is 00:47:10 Oh no. I think in February we're looking at two week two week average so four weeks is four weeks in February
Starting point is 00:47:31 that's what eight and let me transparent it's probably more than eight Um, ate burritos. Almost exclusively. You know what? I'll do another shoutout too.
Starting point is 00:47:50 Um. So my favorite Beanwich's burrito is from Miguel Jr. Unfortunately, it's only a California thing. Um, that's my main spot. The spot closest to here is a,
Starting point is 00:48:06 Rubio's. And you know what? dude there it's a it's pricey though but i've been going there based on the convenience and it's pretty sick um what is it a coastal coastal grill so they have like uh fish and um lobster and kind of seafood but i you know i've got in there bean cheese burritos there i'm like you know oh this is pretty pretty sick and they got a little uh salsa bar Um, it's pretty, you know, I'll give Rubio's a shout out. It's pretty sick. So I think it's a chain, but not really, not really a crazy train. Shout out to Ozzy. Um, I seem around, but not like everywhere. But if in California, like, Miguel's Jr. is pretty, um, they really branched out. Yeah, I would say more than eight burritos, um, mostly from, for Miguel's. They're, I think they're the best, especially with the issue right now with the prices going up everywhere.
Starting point is 00:49:21 If you're in California, they've done the best keeping their prices kind of down. Where it's like, I mean, you can't even go anywhere. I mean, this is beans and rice, man. Like, why is, why is, I don't know why it's getting expensive. But Miguel's, I think, has been, shout out to Miguel's. They've been the best at keeping, like, the prices kind of. Kind of like, okay. They're going up, but this is a bean cheese, burrito.
Starting point is 00:49:50 And I said shout out to Miguel's and Rubio's. So you're outside California, Rubio's. It's worth trying. I'm not going to say it's the best, but I've been going back. So that says something. If you go somewhere once, I went there. I've been there at least four times. So I'm going back.
Starting point is 00:50:11 So shout out. Thank you for your question. Um, she was that only, yeah, it was only three questions. No, uh, that was four. That's solid. Okay. Let's, uh, we, we can move on. Do we just saw, do we just kind of announced, man, uh, all right, who's going to see
Starting point is 00:50:32 Metallica at the sphere? Who's going? So this just happened. Like, right before we sat down, uh, went on my old, went on social media and Instagram told me that Metallica's playing the sphere. Talk about some. that everyone wanted. Let's see. It's October 1st, 3rd, 15th, 17th, 24, 29, 31st. So eight shows pretty much every, uh, I assume every weekend of October.
Starting point is 00:51:09 Wow. Dude, that's just no repeat weekends. Damn, dude. I mean, this is what everyone wanted. People want Metallica and people want tool. That's what people. that's what people want. Wow. Well, they're, did the band do the first? They're probably stoked. They're probably fucking.
Starting point is 00:51:34 So I think the next guest, uh, guess is, uh, because tickets aren't our sale yet because this is happening in real time. Well, they might be on sale now.
Starting point is 00:51:43 Actually, uh, this is out. When's the, uh, on sale date, Jay? Friday,
Starting point is 00:51:49 March 6th. Okay, cool. So, okay, so, so it's not out yet. Oh, pre-sale opportunities
Starting point is 00:51:55 starting this week. Okay, so I guess the guess How much your ticket's gonna be for that shit, dude? I'm talking at the top corner We're making out What's the guess, dude? I don't know. I'll say it no matter what it is. It's worth it.
Starting point is 00:52:28 No matter what it is, dude. Because, I mean, when you go into When you go into like scarcity stuff, I mean, the price can go up. Like, who knows if this will ever happen again? I mean, I don't know. Just don't guarantee. Man, I won. There you go.
Starting point is 00:52:59 About a G. Get you some. A grand? Grand for one show. You know what? Upper level for 400 bucks? I think it's worth it. Straight up.
Starting point is 00:53:11 It's such a unique experience. Like you're at that point that's like a A show is an experience a concert is an experience but this is This is a fucking experience dude like Wow Dang What uh Jay what what what happens when we press info and anything else come up? Oh yeah, I guess not gonna right? Oh, yeah, I got something right? Oh It's locked up. Yeah, it is it's sick. So congrats to
Starting point is 00:53:48 Metallica for again just fucking killing it just straight up killing it that's awesome wow man how much how much would you pay Jay the sphere
Starting point is 00:54:05 probably about 300 300 it seems like my level of you know love for Metallica yeah I'm not the biggest diehard fan but it would be something to be hold
Starting point is 00:54:21 for sure yeah What's the most... I'm waiting for the tool. Oh yeah, tool will be. That's when the drugs come out. Oh yeah, drugs. Got to get drugged up, dude.
Starting point is 00:54:34 What's the most amount of money that you spent on a concert ticket? Dude, I haven't been going because of the scalping is nuts. Oh, it's insane. I just, like, I refuse to fucking support a third-party scalper. I'll, like, yeah. A couple, I mean, for two people, four, five. 500 bucks maybe. Okay, yeah.
Starting point is 00:54:57 I can't remember. It was probably like Muse. Mews, yeah. Mews, yeah. Mews, yeah. Nice. It's been a while. Yeah, a couple hundred bucks
Starting point is 00:55:07 a ticket is quick. I mean, I think the most I spent was recently when I saw Mana at the forum. Then they were good, they were great tickets, too. They were,
Starting point is 00:55:19 they're playing the Honda Center. Oh, yeah. Oh, that National is too. I don't know if you're down the street, too. It was awesome, man. It was for my lady, but it was cool to experience something different. But it was over 200 bucks a ticket. It was a lot.
Starting point is 00:55:39 It might be in a three range. But they were really good seats. And people were stoked, dude. It was stoked. Yeah, they're getting me down the street too. Pona Center, I think, in September. It's cool. You know what I was jamming today?
Starting point is 00:56:01 I was jamming a, dude. Jamming Arch Enemy Because they just announced their new new singer Lauren So out of curiosity Um No I wonder how it sounds So if jamming their
Starting point is 00:56:17 Their new tune It's pretty sick It's pretty freaking sick dude I know how hard it is To the last breath You know I went up and you know Pulled up my Spotify I went out for a long walk outside
Starting point is 00:56:33 Gave it an honest listen with my open ear, also my understanding ear, unfortunately. And that sounds sick. It's awesome. I'm sure she's fucking stoked, dude. What a gig to get. So congrats to you, Lauren. I think it's awesome.
Starting point is 00:56:55 And it's definitely worth the listen. So, man, man, I wonder what they're like, I wonder what they're going through. Like, when you're writing music, and you know you're going to have another singer. on it it's like but they did a good job maintaining the
Starting point is 00:57:15 the tone which is hard to do because basically people around the world are judging you and you're just trying to fucking wake up and live um So I'm trying to come out from like an understanding perspective.
Starting point is 00:57:34 I mean, Michael is just a Ripper. One of the best guitar players on the planet, I think. He's amazing. There's kind of like a carcass tone in there. I was like, oh, I was listening to the guitar tone. Pretty sick. Okay. The song itself was pretty cool.
Starting point is 00:57:49 I think it's worth listening. I think they're going to do a great job coming back. They wouldn't do anything less. Again, having my open mind an open ear. I wonder what I wonder what they're doing and how they're going to do it.
Starting point is 00:58:08 Yeah, I think it's exactly what it needs to be. Looking back, I kind of wish I because dude, coming back with a new singer is so, it's so fucking hard, dude. Like it's just you really don't know what's right until it comes out and then you have, you know,
Starting point is 00:58:30 hindsight is 2020. I really wish I had a our first record with Eddie I kind of wish I had like a more understanding of his vocal cadence and his voice in general because it's so different but I think
Starting point is 00:58:46 arch enemy is in a position where just maintain the sound from outside fresh perspective I think in the inside they might disagree with me I don't know but from outside or if you maintain the sound and the aesthetic it's probably going to
Starting point is 00:59:03 You'll probably be fine for us. I don't think it was that easy. It's a weird dynamic that I'm still figuring out. But, and then this got me into, I forgot what year it was. But, okay, so I listened to this song. And then it made me listen to Wages of Sin. So when I was getting into metal, metal, metal, like this was the record that was out.
Starting point is 00:59:36 I forgot what year, what year was it? We're going to pull it up right now. Makes sense. Yeah, April 25, 2001. Makes perfect sense. I'm a freshman. So, yeah, it makes identical. Okay, now it makes sense why I was shaming this record.
Starting point is 00:59:52 So I was a freshman in high school getting into metal. I knew Michael was in Carcass. And, man, those first, I remembered. I put it on. I was walking around my parking in Corona. I was like, oh, shit. I forgot. about these songs dude did that that first track comes on that fucking snare intro i'm like oh man i i i forgot
Starting point is 01:00:15 yeah enemy within first track and then burning angel i love i love that song the way that opens up these really really cool chords and i really just the only way i could describe it is is tasty tasty just classic kind of lead i want to say there's a wan there like eh I said, oh, I forgot about this. I remember being a freshman year and just horned up on that song and that riff, which I think maybe that's kind of, maybe that that's what you want when you put out new music, especially the pressure of a new,
Starting point is 01:01:03 a new singer, which only they understand. I think each band has its own weird nuances and dynamic, but from experience, it's kind of what you want you kind of want to remind people and then they check out your older records
Starting point is 01:01:20 I mean it worked for me it literally I was like okay I listen to like the you know I'm not going to re-comment straight up that's just I might as well just hang myself but I was like okay what do I think about it
Starting point is 01:01:34 for my experience um what's my own opinion and then I'm jamming it and then okay and it was on the Spotify, it's naturally, okay, you know what? What was that?
Starting point is 01:01:45 I mean, I haven't jammed that one record in a long time, probably since freshman year. It made me check out the old songs and get reminded. I wonder, maybe that's what you want. Maybe that's what's pretty sick. Maybe that's what I want people to do with suicides. I always tell people, you got to just remind, constantly remind people. because people forget
Starting point is 01:02:15 it's a very natural human thing and people just forget you, your music, they move on to other things either they grow up or they get onto other genre of music kind of remind people I think I mean it worked for me I jammed the song and it reminded me
Starting point is 01:02:35 of their old records and why I loved that particular record are they going to be in town? Are they on tourism? I'm definitely not going there Oh yeah, they're just invading Europe right now. Cool. There are going to be in Europe, April 14th, all throughout July and August. Good for them.
Starting point is 01:02:59 Good luck. It's a journey. You might even be what you might even call it a lifetime journey. I'm on a lifetime journey with Eddie. From my outside perspective, they figured out a lot quicker than I did. So, so congrats to them. Let's see. I think we're... Anything you want to add, Jay?
Starting point is 01:03:28 I got a good closer. Anything I missed? No, just good that we got the Metallica. Got a little Metallica hit. I wonder how much those tickets are going to be, man. Aren't trying to me hit. Okay, just to give you again, we've been just telling people to do shit.
Starting point is 01:03:52 Well, here's more shit to do. Three songs that I've been jamming, two, Like, because people always, people will ask me and I just go, you ever like have someone ask you something that you know, but your brain just goes blank? So I was like, okay, someone asks me, I know this is what I've been jamming. Some songs I've been jamming consistently, three, three songs. If you're in a move for like, kind of like a different vibe, um, after Zach Wilde was here, I got really into, uh, bridge to cross.
Starting point is 01:04:27 like that shit it's more it's a mellow song but that lead in the middle is like insane um so it's off a 1919 internal by me a long song it's a really cool just i really liked the the lyrics um I don't know I don't know I just fucking it just spoke to me I remember that morning being in the gym
Starting point is 01:05:04 the day of that conversation that song came on and then it fucked up my my research I'm like I'm like I'm I want the songs to get the songs in me
Starting point is 01:05:16 you know I want to like get the vibe um oh damn that that's crazy. So someone posted on the song.
Starting point is 01:05:30 Good old maggot music 757. Who's here after the Garza podcast was Zach? Wow. That's, well, thank you. So yeah, I was trying to get the songs, get the vibe,
Starting point is 01:05:44 and then this song came on. I just stopped. I'm like, that I put the song on like repeat. Especially where I was in that, that particular day. It's kind of, it really,
Starting point is 01:05:53 It really spoke to me. Bridged across. So that's just check out Black Label Society, Bridge Across. CKY, close yet far. Same vibe. Just lyrics are speaking to me. Really cool vibe. Something different from the CKY sound, but still that.
Starting point is 01:06:23 So I would highly recommend going from bridge to cross Close yet far And off the wall one And I just realized When I wrote this down It's really like oh shit they're they're all guests And then the last one Is nothing nowhere
Starting point is 01:06:49 Love or Chemistry I believe the record is Trauma factory? We're finding out real time. Yeah, so love of chemistry. What's the, what? Yes. Memory is working.
Starting point is 01:07:05 Trauma factory. Yeah, again, same kind of vibe. Just like a, if you're trying to get into like a certain mood, uh, I've been jamming those three songs,
Starting point is 01:07:16 like back to back. Uh, this past week. Just, no, no. Kind of makes me feel good. So if you want to be different than fucking blasting my That's my current list. Maybe next solo will be all deaf and all songs. Who knows?
Starting point is 01:07:31 But this is where I'm currently at. Check out those three songs. Pretty sick. Enjoy those. Where am I going to be at? If you're in Southern California, I'll be at the Belvedore show with
Starting point is 01:07:52 incantation. That's March 10th on Monday at the Observatory. I'll be there chilling. Um, I might be drinking. I don't know yet. So I'll be there. I saw this, which it works. Instagram works. I saw this yesterday. I'm probably, and I'm probably going to go. Uh, I'll be at DBZ backstage. Uh, March 1st. That's a Sunday. Um, looks like, uh, looks like a lot of deathcore bands. Yeah, that, that one. So, uh, Eternal Bloom. free town forest SD
Starting point is 01:08:36 so it's probably from San Diego of the Betrayer 1K degree knife and is that
Starting point is 01:08:46 desolate okay cool and so that's a heavy show as well so I just saw this on a story it worked
Starting point is 01:08:56 I'm probably going because this is DBZ backstation Corona right across the street from the public library um
Starting point is 01:09:05 two miles away from my house so there's no excuse not to go um Sunday is usually my date night but uh we'll this will be later on in the evening so I could probably just pop in so uh those are two shows
Starting point is 01:09:20 I'm currently going to so March 10th Pfeagore Incentation and March 1st DBZ looks like total straight up death core heavy ass shit um
Starting point is 01:09:32 March 1st Am I gonna be drinking there? I'm probably drinking there March 1st I'm probably Yeah I'm probably drinking Oh shit
Starting point is 01:09:45 It's also the last show Of their run So And also hate is on there With the With the Gorg Damn it's a fucking That's his medal
Starting point is 01:09:55 I did reach out to I don't want to call them out But I did reach out To their team To try to get The singer on here but having heard back. I heard back from the team.
Starting point is 01:10:12 They're trying, but it's all good. I'm going to keep trying. Keep trying until I'm dead. Okay, anyway, yeah, thank you for listening to watching. If you're in California, you want to hang, I'll be at those two shows. I'll probably be at the bar drinking or not drinking. I'm not sure yet.
Starting point is 01:10:29 I'm currently crossing the bridge. As Zach Wilde has been singing to me the past two weeks. Um, as you're listening to watch this, I'm literally in a very major crossroads in my life, um, as we all are sometimes. So I appreciate you, uh, being a part of the journey. Enjoy the psychoan podcast. Did my best. Learned a lot. Um, I think, I think that's it.
Starting point is 01:11:01 Um, anything else, Jay? Get, get, get fucking horned up. Yep. Just stay horned up. Thanks for chilling, tuning in, keeping us in business. In business, all right, one. That's it. Appreciate it.
Starting point is 01:11:17 Later.
