Are we live?
We're live.
What's up, everybody?
Good morning.
Good afternoon.
Good evening.
For me, it's Thursday.
Thank you for helping us reach 200,000 subscribers.
Just real quick.
So I'm making something clear.
There was some confusion about how we were celebrating.
So when Jay first joined the pot
He brought over these plastic
Champagne glasses
And we've kept them
For a few years now
So and then we were drinking
Non-acoholic beer
In the champagne glasses
That was non-alcohol
Because I saw some people saying
Oh, looks like Garza fell off
It's non-alcoholic beer
In the fucking champagne glasses
You know, try to be boozy
you know, trying to be like, you know, celebrate.
I was smoking the cigar inside.
It was more like, it actually happened, literally where,
it really happened the last time we were recording a solo.
And it happened that evening.
So it was cool.
So I just wanted to clarify that that was not a sponsor,
a affleger beer.
But there is non-alcoholic options of champagne options.
I've seen those around, but I'm not ready to dive into that yet.
It tastes like juice.
You know, but beer has that, that taste still.
So I just wanted to clear that up.
Something that's been helping me lately and might help you.
And again, like the last one, let's just go straight into the heat.
I have a hot take.
And let's just bring the hot heat.
I'm wearing the hot heat shirt again because I knew we're going to talk about this.
But, all right, hot take.
What's up with people?
disrespecting Chipotle
is fucking pissing me off
Chipotle is fucking sick
and I notice there's two kinds of people
you either love Chipotle
or you hate Chipotle
I've not found one person
that talks about Chipotle that likes it
I love it I always go there
or it's like I went there and it sucked ass
and I have noticed
a common thread
is that
people that don't like
Chipotle like In and Out.
And we all know how I feel about that.
In and Out has great
hamburgers. I just talk shianam.
Because they're a lot of hype.
The disrespect, dude.
I eat Chipotle a lot. I love Chipotle.
So it's, for me, it's like
if you want to have
Mexican food,
but you don't want to feel like shit after,
which tends to be what happens
me have the really good stuff is that nice middle ground so if i have a craving i go to chepaulet it satisfies
the craving i could go on about my day uh without the craving so that's a big fucking help the thing
the thing about chepaulet are you going to fart a lot yes are you going to see your pants yes
are you going to get ripped yes but there's no reason to hate on it it's awesome it's just a common
thing i i've been hearing about people are disrespecting chepaulet and i'm here to make my stand
to stand on my 10 toes
I think I have 10 toes right
right
stand on my two feet
and say that
Sheputli is fucking sick
and another
another
another
brand to hop on the sponsor list
because I'm fucking pushing it
hard right now
I went through yesterday
and did we wake up farting
yes
did we wake up shitting yes
do we do we wake up more ripped
yes
and that's all that matters
shout out to
Shepotla
want to get that out there.
Have you noticed that?
There's no one in the middle, right?
Jay, are you, where, where are you at?
I'm actually in the middle.
Oh, no.
Yeah, I'm like, I'll get it, I guess.
And in our own home, Jay?
Yeah.
Oh my goodness.
I love it.
I really do love it.
I'm not saying it's like a Mexican food spot.
Like, obviously there's, we have our spots.
But I think you got to separate them.
You got to separate them.
But yeah, I guess I brought it up because it ties into, I know my, I know my new goal isn't exciting.
It's not like alcohol.
It's not drinking alcohol.
But I'm curious.
I think a lot of people are dealing with this.
So I just want to touch on it.
Almost a month into my new 90-day goal, which is not overeating.
Because again, I touched on the last one.
Like I noticed right out of the gates.
Stop drinking.
I'm in 7-Eleven, almost every night.
So I saw like that kind of creeping in,
like the other habit was going to replace this one.
So when I stopped drinking, I didn't lose any weight.
It was just bloated.
Like you're just bloated when you're drinking all the time.
It's like a fat fucking face, fat cheeks.
You look like a fucking chipmunk.
I had that face.
And I noticed that I didn't drop any weight,
but it was just like I tightened up only because like the alcohol was not there to,
fatten up my face.
And I'm doing it.
I am three weeks in.
I'll go out and have a treat meal once a week to go off the,
go off my app because I follow a macro factor,
which I think is a great app to track your food.
Tracking your food works for me.
It won't for everybody,
but to me counting my calories works for me.
Because let's say I get a burrito craving.
I'm like, fuck.
there you go.
Day 2.
And this is the issue.
Okay, I could put a bean and cheese,
Shepo let burrito in there,
and you could fit it in your day.
So me, I lose weight at 2,000 calories.
According to this app.
So I could eat it.
That's a lot of fucking food.
2000 calories is a lot.
So get a craving,
you can put it in the app.
You're not overeating.
I still go towards my goal.
And for me,
me it works. I used to use My Fitness Pal, that app fucking sucks. I think they got bought out.
I mean, they got about a few times, but man, I updated it and holy shit. How do you fucking ruin a great app?
Like, my fitness pal was like, they've been the goats for so many years. Like, they were one of like the
originators of tracking your food on your phone. And then I realized, when I line and realized, I realized,
I wasn't alone. Everyone fucking hates this
app now. So I had to find new
one. New one's awesome.
So that personally helps me.
I'm having Ben and Jerry's
ice cream on my treat days.
But I'm going
old school.
I'm going old school
discipline.
Discipline. I'm not any peptides.
I know the peptides are a thing right now.
I'm not taking peptides.
At least not yet.
talk to me in a year.
But I just want to build the discipline muscle and achieve something.
Okay, I got here because, you know, I used some, I used my mind.
So yeah, Chipotle and tracking my shit helps.
I have been fitting in for a snack at night.
Baskin Robbins.
Because a pint is only 400 calories.
So put that in the night, fit in.
kind of satisfies that craving
I'm not trying to fucking
again
what I learned
I learned with the no alcohol thing
just do one thing
when you do one thing
it's fucking tough
and this is why I bring it up
who agrees with me
not overeating
was it's way fucking harder
than me cutting out alcohol
like this shit is hard
like it seems like
the last goal was so easy
to fucking do
just not drinking
like
it's like an everyday okay am i going to overeat right now am i going to fucking this
fuck it up and those thoughts are intrusive every single day and i'm like if i think this
other people have to feel like the same way and um right out of gates this is way harder
and it's not as exciting because people like i know a lot of people are sober which i found out um
i keep finding out every single week how many of you don't drink and are in your own journey
If not, that's that's cool too.
But my gosh, I know it isn't exciting,
but this is a fucking real thing
because I'm trying to make this better for myself,
make this better for you guys.
So every little thing needs to be dialed in,
and I notice that when I overeat,
my brain isn't on point
to have the best podcast possible,
so it's something that I need to do.
And plus, I want to, you know,
I want to go to beach.
And I want to fucking,
and have my Chipotle six-pack.
That's what we want.
So the one treat a week helps.
The tracking helps if you're struggling.
Not doing extremes helps me to just one pound a week.
I follow a few other podcasts to talk about it.
Like, just lose one pound a week.
Unless you're like obese, then you're going to lose more.
But you're trying to drop a couple.
Just, man, don't kill your body.
Just the one thing.
Because everyone wants to like eat, oh, I got to hit my protein.
I got to go to a gym.
I got to not eat sugar.
I got to not overeat.
It's too much.
It's just too fucking much.
I'm like, oh, I'll handle the sugar thing later.
The protein later.
Right now it's just one fucking thing.
Don't overeat.
Lose a pound a week.
get ripped
fuck everybody
wet maxing
that's just
so again
that's helping me
the past three weeks
it is a struggle
but the one thing
if this
anything helps you
that's what helps me
with alcohol
to this
one fucking thing
and then probably
when this is done
maybe tackle
maybe I don't know
I wonder what I'll do next
high protein
hit protein
hit the macros
I'll probably
you know what
I'll probably tackle the sugar.
That's probably next.
So I'll see this one again,
uh,
have you a part of my journey.
Because I know, uh,
yeah,
you like go out with friends and the anyone's having their,
their food.
They're like,
man,
what do I do?
And also with the new app,
uh,
to wrap,
to wrap this subject up is,
uh,
the future.
Like,
I'll be out having dinner and you could take a fucking picture.
of your food and then it tracks it for you that shit is fucking sick that was a big help and that is
unfortunately hate it use it love it uh that's AI and uh this is a positive side of AI where
it's helping it's helping you towards whatever it is you're trying to do because that that's
fucking AI like take a picture of like I was taking pictures of salads like
some, uh, I went to like a, a smash bigger spot with, with a friend, took a picture of it.
Boom. Lines it up. I'm like, fuck. I'm sorry, man. Sick. It's awesome. But, so that's a very
positive thing with AI. So if you're on a weight loss journey, uh, let me know. Oh, I fucked
this thing up already. I was going to open up with something. This is off script, but dude,
this piss me off.
I'm talking to people.
I have a problem with
fizzy hair.
And I have people
recommending products to me. Right now I'm using
like some Paul Mitchell thing, some other
foam thing and nothing's working. If you know
anything about to make your
hair not frizzy, please
let me know. Comment underneath
the YouTube episode or
Spotify or Apple.
I'm down
just to like whatever I see.
I'll buy it all
and I'll have a fucking bathroom full shit
to experiment with because
the fizzy hair is pissing me off
and I need to help.
So, okay, back on script,
I was going to open up with that,
but I forgot, as always.
I hope you,
all you enjoyed,
the Lacey Stern episode.
It's hard to say
like which one,
which ones are my personal favorite,
which ones are your favorite,
because they're all great in their own way.
for me personally just set a new bar of subject matter
deaf style music so for me personally I had fun doing it
and Lacey is awesome
and I had fun doing it
I had the luxury going to the show down the street
and it was a nice moment for me
I think I told her during the conversation
where it was my first time
watching a band not drinking
and getting in that zone
I used to get into when I used to have a couple beers
and that was really cool
It was like a light
It was like a light at the tunnel
Just watching Fly Leaf at house booze like damn
They were fucking it was sick
It was very sick
And
And a few days before that, beginning my research process, I was going out for a walk in Corona.
I was all right.
I think it's time.
Let me put on the records.
I put on their self-title record.
And that song, I'm so sick.
Came on.
I was walking.
I got goosebumps.
I was like, okay, this is fucking sick.
This feels right.
So, yeah, obviously, I touch on vulnerable subjects throughout the whole, um,
they're at this whole journey
but that one was like
that's all we talked about
it was really cool
and set another bar
so thank you to Lacey
for a guest episode
I hope you all enjoyed it
it's different
um
hopefully we have more guests like that
I have noticed that
not a lot of people
dig the religious talk
but uh
I like it you know
it's something
I like talking about spiritual stuff
getting insight how other people think
and live their lives
and that could
it's funny how thou either
rub people the wrong way or without fucking inspires
someone else
and that's what's fucking fascinating about
fascinating about how someone else lives their lives
it could like inspire you
or it could turn off somebody else
kind of similar to music
like this person will love this band
this song
and then this person will hate this fucking band.
I hate this song.
But it'll affect you differently.
So that was a sick episode.
And then what else did we do?
Went to Sound and Fury.
My first ever Sound on Fury, pretty cool.
Deep in L.A.
I believe I was off the 10th freeway.
I was in there.
If there's no traffic, I have grown to enjoy driving there.
Because I like being close.
I like seeing the buildings.
Like, damn, I'm like,
I'll just sit on their freeway and just look
Like wow
Like this is LA
I live in Southern California
Holy shit
Um
So that's cool
I walked in
Um
And discontent was playing
They were pretty sick
I was watching their whole set
I was viving out
Listening to breakdowns
And
After them
It was a band called
I believe Click
That band was sick
And then I went
I went into the crowd around like the mixer area, we call it front of house.
And then, uh, please help me if I butcher the name.
But, um, uh, B-N-Arme, I believe they're, uh, French, maybe French-French Canadian.
I didn't hear of them until that moment.
So they're a really unique band, um, B-N-Arme, I think, I think it's called B-E-T-O-N.
A-R-M-E.
I tried to say earlier, I'm like, I'm...
I can barely speak English.
I'm sorry.
No, me-r-M-A.
B-R-M-A.
Sick band.
They were, yeah, they were different.
They were really different.
I was in the crowd.
You might...
I'm in there somewhere.
Just getting the whole vibe.
Because I went there for no cure.
Because they were doing the pod,
the very next day
and uh i was watching no cures my
my first time being on the you know i always i always see the videos
it was on the stage watching the bands
so they were kind of like my first real like
sound and fury experience
on stage watching them
uh drink drinking a monster
that had a little tub of monster there was like yeah fuck yes
yes give me
give me this fucking straight-edge caffeine dude
and uh it's cool
A lot of fucking power.
A lot of,
their drummer has a lot of energy.
And,
yeah,
we did the pod the next day.
I've been jamming their,
their newest record.
I believe it's been out for two months.
Maybe by the time this is out,
it might be three months.
But their,
their new record's sick.
It has a fucking red cover
with,
with,
I think,
some kind of demon angel on it.
It's going to get dark.
That has a pretty,
it's a fucking sick-ass record.
Great podcast.
I hope you all enjoy that
one too
I'll see if I was gonna talk about this or not
I should probably go into some questions
but I guess if you're listening this far
you care about what's going on in my personal life
but uh
sorry taking boxing lessons
so I'm in there
I'm learning how to fucking beat people up
just Ernie I'm just kidding
um my friend Ian
is
training me
doing private lessons
pretty fucking sick
but doing that for a month
right after Mitch passed away
I needed something to kind of
yeah just kind of
I don't
focus my mind I guess
I needed something extremely
also like I
uh
my relationship at the time
broke off literally the fucking next day
I call my friend
Nick Vega
which I've talked about him
before
I need something extreme
like hey
he's like he's been so persistent
like dude come out of train
come on train for years
I'm like fuck don't my training dude
I fucking play guitar
years he's been fucking insane
come on train dude
and uh
just nothing like
a classic breakup
that makes you do something extreme
and that's what it was for me.
So I went over to a team quest
when it was still actual
the team quest out there.
Would it be Elsinor or
Wildamar?
It's not Temecula. It might be Tamacula.
But the actual team quest,
I was fucking terrified.
Literally called him.
He's like, yeah, dude, come out.
And probably within the week,
I was in there not knowing
what the fuck I was doing.
I was scared.
I was scared.
So it's cool.
Also, like, I think like a year after that, team quest moved into an other building.
And then that's now called the Dan Henderson's fitness center, which is obviously owned by Dan Henderson, which is a UFC fucking legend.
And, uh, it's kind of fucking crazy.
So I got, I got into Moitai back then.
There was a hot minute where it was hot.
But it's like, maybe I should do one.
one fight.
You know,
I didn't have any tourist book.
No shows?
I don't know.
I need something extreme to fucking get my mind off shit.
It was a,
that was a shitty year.
It was a really bad year.
But,
uh,
I also learned then,
like,
because our coach was
legendary,
uh,
boxing coach.
His name's,
uh,
coach Daniel Warren.
And it was fucking crazy to me
how a nobody like me,
just literally nobody just
I'm I'm 27
at this point I don't at the end just for 27
I just stopped doing drugs
and uh
I'm a nobody I don't know shit I go straight into this
fucking gym and this is my coach
if you pay that monthly this is your fucking coach
because they get classes
and it was a trip
to train that
And at the time, Anderson Silva was still fighting.
He was still popping.
And to watch UFC fights, the headliner of a UFC fight, because you know what?
They left to the fighter and his team walks out.
And it's like, holy shit, it's Coach Daniel.
What the fuck?
That's our coach.
And like, it's so crazy how if you live in the area and you go to that gym, you have access to these coaches.
coaches, which is crazy.
I'm lucky because I'm in SoCal.
Imagine if you're like,
there he is, Coach Daniel,
great dude.
He fucking really helped me.
He was very patient with me.
And his son, Alec, was a death court fan.
So that was also my end.
His son was a big fan.
He was playing seven strings.
So I got lucky as fuck there.
I was like,
damn, we all have access to this.
If you live next to a gym,
like if you like if you lived in ireland you could go to probably to connor mcgregor's gym and train with john cavan like we all have that if you if you live there you train there well you you're gonna be around these coaches because in the day they're they're coaches and they give classes i mean probably five days a week um i remember like watching that fight my this is crazy how we just have access to there's like the
best knowledge ever.
So shout out to you
with Coach Daniels. I've been
I did that for a couple years and
I've been falling on because then Sue was a
on and started touring that was like on in and out
but so I'm back
after years back and onto a
consistent training
regimen
and I don't know there's
a couple of things that have happened
in the past
few years.
I'm like I need to
I just don't trust people, man.
Like, walking around the town with my lady, all it takes is one idiot.
And I just want to know how to defuse, you know?
And my dumb ass might do something.
But I don't think that's a problem anymore.
And also, training just makes the brain work better.
So this is, I mean, everything I do is for this.
I mean, anything I do that could get my brain sharper.
So we're back to boxing
I'm gonna beat up our drummer Ernie
And that's not a big deal
So in case you're wondering what I've been up to
That's what I've been doing
I haven't installed it yet
But this has been on my mind for years
Let me know you've been thinking the same thing
I went the best by a couple days ago
And I finally got a dash cam
It's been on my mind for years
there's been quite a few close calls.
I'm like, people drive like shit, dude.
Like, so I finally, you know what?
I'm driving there right the fuck now.
And I went there and I'm like, I don't know what I'm getting.
Give me the fucking soccer mom kit.
Give me like what like everyone gets.
And yeah, it's like, um, the brand was called Rexing, I think.
Rexing?
There's an orange box.
It's like it was so it's the front cam, the back cam.
and the inside cam.
Yeah, there it is.
Yeah.
Rexing.
Pretty cool.
It's like 200 bucks, I think.
That's what it is.
So I'll be installing that.
So next time we, I give you an update.
It will be installed.
So I'm looking forward to that.
I do, straight up, I feel safer.
I felt safer the moment I bought the box.
I just, I just want that, like, security.
The worst one was, uh,
during Christmas of last year.
That's when it really gets bad.
But,
remember leaving here,
it was nighttime.
Just when the 55 hits the 91,
it goes to other exit,
which people tend to rush towards.
And I never forget this white charger
that just went across the fucking freeway
and almost annihilated me.
I was like, wow, dude.
You know when someone cuts you off
or like someone does something stupid,
you have to,
look inside their car.
Why do we do that?
We always do that.
So like, look at me.
And I looked in their car.
They were in a fucking la-la land.
They were in their own planet.
Man,
man, fuck that person.
Like, literally almost killed me.
But ever since then, like,
just, oh, man, I need to jazz cam.
You never know.
You never fucking know.
If you want something cool to watch on Netflix,
I just finished Hawk.
I'm also a golfing fan.
Heads up. I love golf.
So that's with Will Ferrell.
Very funny.
If you want like,
just chill out, turn your brain off, watch something.
This was really cool.
Will Ferrell is always funny.
The quality of Netflix, dude, it's like you're watching a movie.
It's like, wow, the times have changed, man.
Times have fucking changed.
I think it, well, that's what the updates for me.
I think.
I think we could hit
see what's up with Jay's world
What is uh
What's Jay doing?
Just working
Twerking
Working
Just fucking
Trying to stay alive
Trying to be an adult
Um
Pay my bills
Yeah
Just hanging out with the wife
Uh going going hiking
With the pooches
Ooh
Um
Yeah just trying to stay active
I was watching lanterns
Lanterns
What's that?
Pretty good show
It's a DC show
Okay
About like the green lanterns
Oh okay
Yeah it's pretty dope
Nice
Yeah I recommend it
It's pretty good
Oh yeah
Episode three is out
That's it
I don't know
Looking forward to all the stuff
We got on the
On the docket
I don't know if
I guess people will hear about it
For sure
Yeah we'll announce it
In a couple weeks
There's be big big things coming.
Oh yeah.
Big, big things coming.
Oh, yeah.
Let's just ruin it.
Yeah, yeah.
But, yeah, just trying to mentally prepare for all that.
I mean, I'm ready, but.
Yeah.
It's going to get crazy in a minute.
It's going to be nuts, dude.
So this would be fun.
Oh, yeah.
And real quick, I know we announced something last solo.
We postponed it.
So literally it might, as you're listening,
watching this it should be out either
this week or the following week with
the postpone our announcement but
but big feelings are common
yeah it's been fun it's been fun
crazy ride past
a couple months I guess
it's only getting crazier and fun
and can't wait for people to see everything
it's getting crazy and fun dude it's all it's all we're trying
trying to do yeah
hell yeah well let's hop into some questions
one of our long-time followers on our Patreon
Nisa the Crime Adelist
There's actually
Four questions in one
So let's just
I'm gonna try to power through these
And I already fucked up the podcast
I'm like you know what I'm gonna do an intro
Fifteen minutes straight into questions
We're already in 30 minute mark
But that's just how you roll. It's fine
First question she asked is
What are you reading
What am I reading?
um every morning literally every single fucking morning for the past like 13 years i will always read a book
i know it's boring as for a coffee read just pure information is pages smell in the book
no screen um and i recently stopped doing that a few two thousand
three months ago when I bought the laptops and now I wake up and I just basically work.
And that's kind of, it has been helping the pot a lot.
But I was just having a conversation last week how, uh, I noticed a difference.
Like, um, what, what's the cliche?
You don't know what you have until it's gone.
But, uh, no matter what I do, there is a little bit more anxiety throughout the whole day.
I'm fine.
I'm, I'm, I'm fucking chill, dude, but.
the calming of the book every single morning.
Like that just sets up my fucking day.
And I noticed like the past couple months,
I'm like, every day I feel off.
Not like, let me off.
I'm not like,
I'm not like fucking is locked in.
But I was, oh shit, I'm not reading it anymore.
Because, uh,
it's just wake up coffee screen,
which I think we all,
we all kind of do, right?
But I never did that.
notice a big fucking difference and no matter what I do.
Training now I'm fucking training.
Trying to learn out of a fight when I'm 40 fucking years old.
Gym walks.
This just doesn't add up to just reading up.
There's something about reading a book.
So I'm really trying to get my life in order so I can go back to reading.
But the last book I read was not exciting.
I think we already touched on it here.
Dan Kennedy, no BS rules for time management.
That was really cool book.
I read all three of Alex Ramose's books.
What was around that?
Yeah, this is it.
I was rereading The Alchemist, which is my favorite book.
Yeah, once I saw your question, it just kind of sparked.
Like, man, I haven't read in like three months.
I definitely missed it.
Definitely, definitely miss it.
But next part of your question, how is Leo?
Leo the cat is doing great.
As I brought up before, he got attacked by a raccoon.
And we took him to the vet.
At least no time got the x-ray, the rabies shot.
And shout out to Dr. Tuttle.
She was a sweetheart.
Really handled it great.
And it wasn't like a for sure thing.
And it's like, okay, we won't really know until like two weeks if he has rabies.
And then he's fucked.
So it was kind of weird two weeks.
But no, he's got through it.
He's fine.
It's getting cooler outside.
So the raccoons are pretty much not there.
Look at Leo.
He's fucking chill, dude.
So he's doing good.
I see him every morning.
He helps me.
He helps me with the podcast work every single month.
morning. He's just there pretty much. I work right there on that table. It's just nice because it'll be
like around today I woke up at five. So around 5.30 like I'm going to miss this dude. But it is hot.
But when the sun starts to come up at 5.30, it's just so fucking beautiful. And that is peaceful.
And Leo's is there like watching the sunset and it's there with like a laptop. This is like man,
it's fucking beautiful out there. But when the
time changes, because I'm not sure when it is.
It's going to be a bummer.
It's that perfect time when I'm sitting outside at 5.30
and the sun's just like, man, it's fucking beautiful.
I'm going to miss it, man.
November 1st is the time change.
Shit, so I better soak up October.
And this month.
Literally a perfect outside.
Literally like the sunset at 530 is fucking beautiful.
Another one which they think, these two
questions kind of coincide so i could probably tie them both then maybe i'll i'll read both of them
for you guys um do you ever sit across from say pepper keenan or zach wild and freak out a little
because they're childhood heroes and the next question is um do you feel like you've made it um
Or have you ever felt like you made it
Or does it feel like a fever dream?
Zachwell was a mild freak out
But I composed myself
The best I could
But he taught me like
I touched on before
I'm a man
It's just
It's just another day
And you gotta be professional
And he kind of put like the stamp on it
Which I have applied to future guests after that
It was just cool
you gotta be pro
um
age definitely helps too
um
just chill out
be present
and when I learned from Zach
I applied the Pepper Canaan
just fucking
be present and enjoy it
I would never have this moment
outside of this room
and I was
he was playing that that song jail
and was just fucking I was just
tripping out my damn
he's playing guitar for me
this will never happen anywhere else like oh this is wow and this uh not freaking out but just
putting myself back in the body and enjoying the the present moment was really cool um
i'm a very for better or for worse i'm a very never satisfied person
and there's pros and cons to that
so I never felt like I made it
not even close
there's not enough time
to do
what I want on this planet
there's really no time
so doing as much as we can
um
there's like this never
sad I've always had it as a child
like
when I used to play like
T ball or like baseball
and like
um
as a child is always pissed like or we win the game could i could get better on the band
you always do something better um but with this it could always be better um so i never really
feel otherwise um the pro is is very motivating keeps you uh focused um consistent
Also, the con is that it could take you out of the present moment I've found.
Which one is better?
I would say the not satisfied part.
Benefits me more for sure.
But that's me personally that could affect someone else.
And it is a fucking dream, dude.
Like, this is, I live a weird life.
Very, very lucky.
but uh when was it like this month i was like driving like you ever like drive somewhere
you've driven a million like to drive home from work i was driving on the same freeway getting out
getting out the same exit i've been here how many fucking time have you been here and it's just a wake
into a new thought you're like wow maybe again could be age or maybe something inspired you
earlier but yeah i remember like i don't know how many times i'm
I've fucking driven up
my exit and now I'm just thinking about
life. How
it's like holy shit
dude
holy fucking shit
my thought was like holy shit
you're in suezance
I like wow
like
the chances of a riding
having like that a record like the first
record underneath your belt
it was like wow how did that even happen
so fucking
thankful dude.
Cause and what's for that?
Like literally, nothing else would happen.
I was tripping out.
Um,
um, on that.
But yeah, it feels like,
feels like a dream because I'm living two dreams.
Um,
this is fucking unreal, man.
So it makes all the, uh,
it makes all the stress burritos
worth it.
I do find myself right now wanting to go on,
onto a rant and I probably,
should move on because
I'll just fucking
put minutes on the timer
but yeah Nisa thank you for the
question you've been a long time supporter
I know appreciate it
and uh next one
eight troll
nine
you gotta have troll in your username
you got to do it
you got to do it
um
uh oh
why why do this one
if you could do a podcast
with one musician that is dead or alive who would it be so sad um number one i'll get to you in a
in a minute because that's just gonna it's gonna get really negative but uh out of the gates there's
so many legends that that probably would not even my podcast but just maybe could have been on like a
like a rogan or the ovan it's a podcast in general but i guess i was i mean
Imagine Jimmy Hendricks on a long-form conversation.
Jimmy Hendrix?
Insane.
Or a Kirk Cobain.
That long-form style.
A Chris Cornell.
A Chester Bennington.
Like, just...
You see him in all these short-form interviews.
And I'm just like, man, like...
Just sit down with you for an hour and a half.
for three hours,
would have just been,
it would have been history.
But we will never get those conversations.
Unfortunately, so sad, man.
Legendary conversations.
Who else, man?
My brain went to this dead.
I mean, that's just where my brain went, unfortunately.
I feel like I'm missing somebody else.
Not my number one.
one but I'm missing my my uh
if you're a
following the podcast you already know what
where I'm going but uh
who I want to
who else am I fucking not thinking of
60s
um
oh John Lennon would have been sick
a John Lennon podcast
you know the Beatles dude
Death Corps of Beatles
let's go John Lennon
would have been legendary
um
I do want to do a quick shout out
to Rick Biotto.
We got to get Paul McCartney on a show, dude.
It's long overdue.
I don't know how he hasn't gotten Paul McCartney yet.
It's a fucking sham.
Okay, I guess we could go to number one.
I mean, Mitch is my top.
I mean, that would literally be the best podcast ever.
And it'll never happen.
um yeah just like the history
and now that everything has happened now
with me and the band
and the resurgence like the shit that we would talk about
he would probably be like that like
reoccurring guest
that this legendary guest keeps coming in
and we just talk shit um yeah
yeah it'll never happen but that would have been a legendary
um
conversation but uh
I remember we were thinking about
making like some AI thumbnails, but we might, we might revisit that idea, but it might
piss people off, but I don't care. I'm not sure you notice yet, but we piss people off sometimes.
Whatever makes the best conversation, that's what I'm interested in. Yeah, I've been debating on
doing some crazy, uh, some, some like, what if thumbnails. Um, um, whatever.
So yeah, that's my number one pick, obviously, and the others would have just been.
But yeah, so podcasting is still a new thing.
It's still a brand new thing.
But 8-Troll 8-9, thank you for your question.
It was a very thoughtful question and evoke.
A lot of feelings there.
Let's see.
Next.
Don Don Don 1722.

Do you wish you could just hit skip on the worst parts of your life?
You know the same way you can skip an ad?
I get it.
I'm Siyaya and I live in Ice Cove.
I've made some questionable decisions that didn't end up the way I planned.
And today I'm still figuring it out.
Somehow things usually get worse before they get better.
Apparently, that's how I roll.
So bundle up and come along for the bumpy ride.
Stream a new episode of North of North Tuesdays on CBC Gem.
Two bands pop up
And there is an order in my brain
I'll start with number two
Um
Gorgera gets better and better
And it's fucking
Their record just keep taking them to a whole other level
Just they keep getting better
Um
They have one of the best drummers of metal
Like on the planet currently
Um that dude is fucking
plays man
yeah Mario
that dude just fucking plays
that dude could play the
fucking drums
just the riffs and the records
I mean all of them
all of them
they keep getting better and better
and my
this this could be personal
but
number one to me
is my sugar
because they were still getting better
Um, it's like after they put out Obson, it's just like, it was just a unattainable level.
And they just keep.
I love how they take a while to put out records.
I do, I do enjoy that.
Like just from, uh, um, absent to, uh, Colossus fucking, what, four years, bro?
It's four years.
I mean, yeah, you don't.
It's like, why?
It's like, why do more?
Then to the next one,
Colossus to a violent sleep,
another four years.
And then immutable.
Am I seeing that, right?
It's hard to count that because the old Pandy.
But, yeah, a while.
Six years.
And I think that's a band.
I think they're number one.
They just keep getting better.
They just keep,
and then seeing them live too with each era it's been really cool to see um they just keep fucking bringing it dude
and it's fascinating it's just fascinating how some metal bands how uh even with age
like they could somehow find a way just to keep up in it and that's you know obviously that's uh
for me that's inspiring and if you think there's a band i'm missing let me know but those are my
personal uh two picks but goger is a close
low they're like right behind them they're like right behind them i'm just i'm just going by like record
level that keeps like because gorgera is so massive you know so it's kind of impossible to tell
what the because when they drop like magma it's just like it's like okay like you don't like you
just not put out records anymore like that that that record's going to continue to fucking just
do what it does forever um but they're right there they're fucking right there they're fucking right there
Um, I'm already, I'm already going.
I have two more, no, I have two more questions.
I'm debating which one I should,
because I want to answer like the last one,
but it might be for a hundred time.
Okay, I, oh, I know what I'm doing.
All right.
This one is from,
uh, Jay, you got me?
Kyber.
Kyber, okay.
That's Star Wars.
reference I think is it
Khyber Sith
Khyber Sith okay
What's the biggest
Blunt you smoked
What a pleasant memory
The biggest blunt I smoked
I got a shout out
We were just talking about him
Last solo
But a shout out clown
When we did that
Mayhem festival
The first one
All Hope is Gone didn't drop yet
then they just psychosocial was out they had like the single and uh after a show he comes on arbus and he has a fucking cd um
and uh we fucking put it in a player and it is still full record and there's the fattest blunt being passed around
my memory and like and i'm not still on a smoker and uh we were
I only got a high thing twice that tour and twice he was around and a fun man I'm too high to be around clown right now
This is too much
And it was such
A beautiful memory that I still
Carry with me
Because suicide didn't really blow up yet so I still have like the innocence
I don't know shit about the music industry so I'm not jaded by it and just fucking beating down
It was a very pure time still.
I remember that first song came on.
It was all of us.
Mitch was obviously there.
Art Cruz would play drums for Lemon God.
He was drum teching us at the time.
And we were passing around as fucking blunt.
And I just remember the music just hitting me.
It was also my first time hearing music before,
a music from one of my favorite bands before it came out publicly.
So I'm getting like the perks of being in the band for the first time too.
It was like a lot of moments at once.
And I'm hearing sulfur for the first time.
I remember when psychosocial came on, we were all air drumming.
I forgot clowns even there at some point.
This is air drumming.
Me and our crews are just fucking on, I think, the other planet.
We're high as fuck.
Just hearing the whole record and be like, wow, this is fucking amazing, man.
So to my memory, that is, that just sticks out to me of like that.
I remember, I remember that being a fucking fat one because, uh, I still avoid smoking.
Uh, so it takes like a moment for me to like, okay, I'll fucking smoke and I don't care how I look.
So hearing new slip knot, that's a, that, that's a moment.
Okay, I'll smoke and I don't, and let the chips fall with them.
if I look like an idiot
whatever.
I do have a picture of us hanging out
somewhere. I gotta find it.
It might be in our
fucking old practice base.
I gotta find that fucking photo.
But just a beautiful moment,
us high as fuck.
What a fucking cool photo, man.
Cool,
cool time, cool moment.
But that's,
why do Blunts have to be so fucking fat?
is like do they make that does it make you higher
I think it's good for sharing
sharing oh yeah yeah
big communal okay but what size like how big was it
was it cigar sized or like yeah we're talking like cigar sized
fucking like a like a stogue yeah it's like stoked out
um
he was a fucking fat boy
and we're sharing so we're talking like
five
at least seven people
are sharing at once.
So that makes sense.
Okay, it might have been a print size, actually.
Print size, because now we're going to the old
Google size chart.
It could have been a king, actually.
But printer king,
that she was fucking.
That she was a big boy.
That she was sick.
Also, the
a combination of sick
beautiful moment and being extremely paranoid.
Just like freaking out.
Like, oh my God, I'm too high.
You know that feeling?
Oh, I'm too high.
And everyone knows you're too high.
You're a fucking loser.
You're a loser.
So could it be, uh,
what's this?
A Solomon?
A Solomon?
Is it, did I say that right?
Yeah.
Solomon.
Salamon or a torpedo.
A Gordo.
Toro.
Okay.
Maybe a Gordo.
Could be a Gordo.
Yeah.
A fat.
It's a fucking.
It's a fat fucker, dude.
Well, that was a
pleasant question.
Should I hit this?
I'll fucking hit it.
I'm sorry.
I'm trying to make it condensed, but
all right.
Last question is
from Robert Westland.
What is one of the biggest
struggles you feel proud to have overcome, not necessarily about guitar or music. I love the second
part because I think people forget that things you do in your personal life will directly affect
your guitar playing and music. The biggest one for me was my speech impediment. And I'm not sure
if I'm proud, but it is insane. It's still fucking insane to me that this is,
podcast exists it's so it's so to know where I was like in high school or like elementary I couldn't
fucking talk I couldn't get through like a word I couldn't say a word it was just like this like the
stutter was so bad um people thought I was um retarded I people in uh school to him I thought you were
like retarded because I couldn't like speak so um
to be able to form like a sentence right now is like I guess looking back was definitely a long process
and uh it's I mean it I mean right now it's it's affected my guitar playing and my music because I could
talk to people and learn some shit to apply to my instrument so it has affected like the guitar and
and my music and things I've learned about the business that affects my band um so it's
and I wish I had these communication skills back then.
I would have done older interviews.
That sucks.
I mean, we, I mean, we fucking live and learn,
but our insecurities will get the best of us.
And they, and they got the best of me, man.
I don't think suicide sounds would be in a spot we're in now.
If I didn't, if I knew what I knew now,
I definitely let insecurities get the best of me.
I didn't do any interviews.
I didn't mention to them all.
We didn't really communicate.
But it affected everything.
Now my love life,
now I have a chick
that probably wouldn't have talked to
if I had a speech impediment.
I still do, but I didn't.
Like, how do you talk to a...
How do you talk to a chick?
So,
it's brought nothing but great things
into my life.
Just tackling that fucking,
tackling yourself.
It's like a battle.
You're like fighting yourself.
Like in a weird way because it's all you.
It's a person you look at in the mirror.
All my problems were me.
So that was a hard thing to.
And I've seen some questions
about how do you fix
your stutter?
It's kind of one of those subjects where I'll part
talk about again and again just to remind people and it might spark up some memories of me growing
up that I always share forever but uh dude it's now when I think about it that might be the hardest
thing I ever done in my life it was so it's such a long fucking process and a lot of things
a lot of shit um the insecurity thing was was a big one uh
Like the gym helped
The gym's a weird place
It's a crazy place because
Everyone is there
For a different reason
And I've been there
For the superficial reason before
Like oh I'm trying to get buff
I'm trying to look good
The fuck I'm trying to be a fuck machine
But uh
Or you get this other people that go
That you could tell they're strictly there for themselves
And their mind
And create their mind
your focus or
for discipline
or working out
some other
some emotional stuff
there's that side to you
it's funny
just your simple mind shift
will affect your workout
and that's fucking fascinating to me
so I've been like the superficial
shit
but just going to a gym
purely for mental
to slow down your brain
um
the gym
meditation
reading
um
Doing things you're uncomfortable doing.
Will help your insecurity.
Will, in turn, help your stutter.
Things that just slow down your mind, yoga.
All this boring shit over the course of
you for a year or a couple of years,
oh shit, like I'm a different fucking person.
Shipping away at your own bullshit.
You're just chipping away at yourself.
You're just fighting yourself.
So I guess looking bad,
I never really looked back at this.
before which is actually sad.
We're also fucking busy, man.
We just forget.
But
this speech impediment thing was huge.
You know,
you're insecure about your own voice too.
Your own voice, how you sound,
but you realize no one gives a fuck.
Everyone has their own shit.
And I did take some voice lessons
a few
not a few years ago
wow
at this point
it's been six years
oh shit
that was
that was kind of
a trip
yeah
all those things
they just stack up
they just fucking stack up
yeah I'm definitely
I'm sorry
I'm kind of having a moment
it's weird
I really thought about it
I guess you could say
I overcame it
is that overcoming
something
when you're still working
on something
is that
does that count
I don't know
Because I'm still working on it.
Like, um, we're talking about, about the boxing.
That I box also, it just keeps, keeps the mind straight.
Well, in turn, help out my speech impediment, which, um, anything that you, that you can do.
Um, yeah, pretty fucking proud.
I guess I didn't, I never thought about it until right now.
I guess I am proud.
Pretty sick.
We all kind of crazy too.
Like, sometimes you like, do something.
something you just like in you and you and you forget your own past and you forget your own
history of shit that you overcome I do it all the time dude so um don't feel bad there
you just forget your history I'm like yeah yeah I did that I got over that so I got over that
I go over this why am I still pissed up about this one thing I'd done this before um
I'm the same way dude it's fucking this is a way your brain's wired is fucking trippy
yeah I'm glad I answer that question
And I wish I put more thought into it.
I haven't really, it's kind of weird.
I haven't thought about that in a while or ever.
Hmm.
Not so this thing helps me too.
But anything we should pull up real quick.
I don't, I don't only have any news in my notes.
I know just a few things that transpired the past few weeks, I guess.
Dolly passed away.
August 25th.
Wow.
What a legend.
So rest in peace to
Donnie Aparton.
That's fucking sad, dude.
Great.
An inspiring figure.
Yeah.
Always championing people.
Nice reveals why
country music legend
kept, oh, she had cancer
as she kept kept it a secret.
Wow.
Oh my goodness.
She didn't want to worry anybody.
well she's a goat
it's awesome
and maybe one more thing
but
fucking Billy Strings plays
with the cryptopsy
so good
dude I was watching that
fucking video
yeah
we we could probably play it and crank it
where's the
I sent it's the other one
I would like the full video
that's
no it's there
it's
I'll hear
I was fine
Full rig
I pull up the
Social media one
There's like one where it's like closed up
Is that it?
Yeah there go
This is the video that I found
And he's just fucking
Billy's just fucking ripping dude
This part got me
His tremolo picking is way better than mine
Yeah Billy's tremolo picking is way better than mine
I was like I wish I was that like
Solid
And also he does the
a closed hand technique, which I just don't do.
I threw it out there.
I said, man, we should try to get Cryptopsy.
I didn't think it would happen.
When I heard that they were actually going to come play,
I could not believe it.
I saw the email come in.
It was immediate shock and awe.
So good.
Shout out to Cryptossey and Billy Strings, man.
Say, man, I got to work on my fucking tremolo picking, dude.
Damn.
I'm honored to play with them.
I'm honored to get to know them.
I never thought that.
one of my wildest dreams coming true.
They really are truly one of my favorite bands of all time.
Damn, that's awesome.
Nice little crossover.
Shout out, cool.
Well, shout out to the both of them.
All right, rounding third here.
Again, yeah, I apologize that we announced last solo that we had something coming out.
We kind of pushed it back a little bit, so it should be within the coming weeks.
So be on a lookout for that
I will be
shows up
I'll be attending
uh
course I'm going to the
Slaughter to Preveil Show at the House of Blues
in Anaheim, California
I'll be there September
16th
and the following day
I'll be driving down the street
and I'll be watching
Gatsmack at the Honda Center
September 17th
I bought that first record
I hope they'll
play shit off that.
I was a godsmack band.
And also the Hana Center. I love that arena.
It's a cool vibe.
And of course,
September 20th
at the Riverside
Municipal Auditorium,
my backyard.
I'll be at the Seven Dust Show.
Which,
obviously, I'm just
going to get a fucking horned up.
So those are three shows I'm going to
The podcast will already be out
But I might see some of you at the Osher Pair show
At the observatory
I spoke about it last time
Hopefully I saw some of you guys there
I know unfortunately
I think there's other show that day
I think Biden and Bud is playing locally to you
I wish I can go
I think there's
A showcase theater
Doc showing the same day.
There's a lot of shit happening that that same day.
It just fucking happens.
And I've learned that you can't be in multiple places at once.
You just can't.
Get a pick and that's fucking it.
So I'm, um,
so,
also your parents was probably sick and I probably saw some of you there at the bar.
Um, and, uh,
let me know what you think.
Uh,
kind of crossing my mind.
But, uh,
thinking about,
doing some solo episodes live.
Maybe in Corona,
something local, something small.
Maybe like 40 cap,
maybe I'm thinking about doing that.
Just to add some spies to the solo episodes.
Maybe get some fans up there on the couch.
Have a fucking random fan episodes.
That's kind of where my mind's going.
If you're interested in that, let me know.
It'll probably happen the next couple weeks.
