So we don't feel like we're an opener band, to be honest, which is a good thing, which is definitely a good thing.
It's a first time for us here sold out so many people, very numbers.
Yeah, we also have like that first time here bonus, like the people couldn't.
That's true, but it's not always a blessing.
I heard that.
Like, it's not always a blessing to be in a country for the first time as a band.

We're being transported right now to Switzerland.
Yes, exactly.
To the cows and the mountains.
Jeez.
Yeah.
What do you guys have out there?
What's that?
What do you have out there?
A lot of cows, actually.
Cows are my neighbors, kind of.
A lot of cheese.
It is true.
Like a lot of mountains,
a lot of cows,
a lot of trees and cheese.
For real.
And chocolate.
And chocolate, too.
And a lot of old villages,
old towns.
But also a lot of expensive cars.
Expensive watches.
Expensive watches.
It is true.
A lot of lakes.
Everything,
like mostly every single cliche is true about Switzerland.
Dude.
Yeah.
Yeah, it's fucking expensive out there.
It is.
Bro.
It's so.
expensive. I think, but I still think it's worth the money you pay because it's a very nice country
though. I enjoy living there. It has its price, but it's still worth living there, isn't it? Yeah.
Yeah, sure. Of course. Yeah. So, yeah. It's cool. It's like, man, how does a band come out of here
and just play heavy shit, you know? For us, I don't know. It is unreal. Like, for you, like,
the crowds reaction and everything, it is so mind-blowing.
It's so crazy.
Like I said, none of us has ever been to this country before.
None of us ever been to America or whatever.
And, yeah, Paleface gave us the opportunity to travel, like, through the whole country
and playing live shows in front of so many people and so many people, like, singing along
and very no merge and shit.
It's absolutely mind-blowing, for real.
It is so cool.
And, I mean, we work for it.
I think we often say we work.
hard for it and now it finally pays off and it was like all of the hard work was so worth it for it
yeah it's so cool really cool well uh today we have all a pale face
i'm i am honored to sit here and talk to a band that's from clear across the world and you guys
as you were just saying deli that uh you guys have you know worked your ass off played and played
and played heavy music and now and now you're here yeah in in california yeah did you did you did you
you guys ever think you'll ever be in california no plain plain beat down no no and the second
thing i never thought was like when i'm in california i'm pretty sure the sun will be out and no rain
yeah i'm sorry dude that that that is true i feel bad for you guys because it's always sunny
and like nice outside but today's not i'm sorry it's like first time california it's crazy
rain i'm like okay we picked like the only day that it's gonna rain yeah yeah but
like the one day in the year we are we're still the sunny boys yeah yeah yeah yeah
can we do a quick intro names so yes you want to go first yeah i'm castie i'm the drummer uh
yeah sick i'm tommy lee i play the bass sick i'm janic i played the guitar and i'm telly i'm the
vocalist of pale face swiss pale face swiss i like i like i like how how it's how
it's in the name. We had to do it.
You have to know. Have you heard
the story about that? No. It has so much
fun. Okay, let's go. Are we allowed
to tell that? Yeah, yeah, of course.
I mean, it's official. It's official, yeah.
So, yeah. So, yeah, our band
name was paleface, just paleface, basically.
And there's another
band or a duo. Just a singer-songwriter?
Yeah, I guess it's like
two people that do like folk music, whatever
from the US.
and they, yeah, they wanted to, I don't know, not, they wanted to sue us basically because we had the same name as they have, but like, yeah, it's kind of, you can think whatever you want, but we're like, you know what, we just don't want, we don't want any troubles, let's just do Pailfer Swiss, fuck it.
Because, I mean, they're Americans and they wanted to sue us, like, just over here in America, and I mean, we had no chance.
Like, we would have had chance, though, but I think they had rights on the name pay off.
But I'm not sure if those rides were still active.
I don't know.
But it would have cost us so much money and so much time.
We're like, it will probably end well for us, but still it wasn't worth the money and the time and everything.
Which is, you know what?
Paleface Swiss, it's fine.
Do your thing.
If you're happy.
Yeah, it is.
It won't help them anything because everyone is still Googling Paleface instead of Paleface Swiss.
It's still just us popping up, you know what I mean?
And not them.
But it's not our problem anymore.
Like, we change the name, we're good to go.
We're safe now.
Yeah, we're safe.
Yeah, we're safe.
And we're cool with him, so fuck it.
Well, cool.
You change your name and now you're in California.
Yeah.
With rain outside.
That's fine.
Yeah.
We are used to rain, so we're good.
We had some sun yesterday in Arizona.
Oh, yeah.
I enjoyed it.
We enjoyed it.
We went for a quick swim in Houston, Texas.
Yeah.
And we were out in the sun for like 10 minutes.
I was Mr. Krebs.
I was red as hell.
I'm like, bro, I got sunburned so fast.
I'm kind of glad it's not the sunniest day today
because otherwise, yeah, I'd be red again.
Yeah, I mean, yeah, your skin is not exactly equipped
to get a tan, right?
No, no.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure the Esfurturelun sun is a little bit different.
Oh, yeah, it is.
Definitely.
I still get sunburned there all the time.
I'm just not able to not get sunburned.
But it's definitely not that strong.
You know, it's like, yeah.
Yeah, and in Switzerland there's winter and it's snowing there.
And we are not used to like, it's February and their sun.
Yeah.
I think our skin and our bodies are like, what the fuck is going on?
You need to be on skis, dude.
What are you doing?
Oh my God.
Oh my goodness.
Yeah.
What's that festival you guys out?
Is it Greenland?
Greenfield.
Greenfield.
That is a beautiful festival.
It is.
The way that layout is.
Oh, my goodness.
It's also unbelievably expensive, but it's very beautiful.
It's a beautiful, like, landscape, like, mountains around there, the infield and everything.
It's beautiful.
But also, yeah.
Even though for us with people, it's very expensive to have fun there.
Like, buy beer or something.
It costs you a liver.
Oh, my goodness.
Really?
So that's what?
That's why you guys fly here and then we're drinking beer and whiskey so everyone knows what we're doing.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Even if you're broke, you can still afford it.
Okay.
That's...
Hints.
Hence, I'm broke.
I can still afford.
Thanks a lot.
That's nice.
Yeah.
Cheers.
Cheers, guys.
Thank you.
Cheers.
Cheers.
Heavy riffs, dude.
What's up?
Greater.
so I found out about
oh my gosh Hanneken
so I found out about
pale face through
our base player Dan Kenny
I was like who's his pale face
and that he has something
due with getting
pale face on the Frankfurt Germany show
correct? Yes I think
you had you texted with him right
oh I know I just
I just said you guys say
the base player of suicide silence
just wrote us and oh it was on the band page I thought he and then I and texted Sally
and I think you wrote him back oh yeah yeah I don't know but I thought it was your
private account but no no no it was on the band page okay so he he messaged you and
what is what did you think I was like whoa okay okay I was like a little shocked it was
I don't know and then I texted the boys and they were all like oh yeah
first Frank Ford show yeah just kidding we were obviously very very honored I mean
let's be honest everyone grew up listening to you guys I mean we're young like I am I am
way too young he's a little how do you tell you I'm 23 I turned 23 a couple a month ago okay
yeah still young as hell he's like a year older than me a few years yeah
27 you're the grader yeah no I'm gonna be 31 on this tour congratulations
you made it so far yeah I mean I can still sneeze without like hurting myself
too bad okay that that's a very good sign
so for you guys now we were we were on it I mean like I said everyone
of us who are listening to you guys so it was a big honor and it was like kind of we were
extremely excited to find that I meet you guys and I have to be honest when I first heard you
guys sound checking the song on I answered I was like I never saw your guys life before to be
honest it was the first time for me I was like sick like like goosebumps and I was going to be a fun
nice it's cool man sure it was a lot of fun and uh it's crazy that I listen to you guys now
yes it's it's backwards now man it's life it's so cool life is life is cool man it is right now it's very
Very much fun.
And you, pill face is heavy.
I didn't really know.
And to be honest with all you is that, so we played a show with you and then went home obviously.
And then I found out this was going to happen.
Because we were talking for a while.
Oh, yeah.
We were actually in Switzerland talking about you guys coming on a podcast.
Right?
Yeah.
Oh, that never said.
I was serious.
I want to talk to you guys.
You guys are fucking crazy.
And then finally when we all confirmed, I was like, so I did the deep dive.
I was listening to your music, really listening.
I'm at the gym doing fucking bench press.
I'm like, oh, this is, this is heavy.
Like you guys are like, I think it sounds like you guys really come from like, you guys have roots and like beat down.
you know which is like kind of shocking to me so please please help me learn like how did you guys
start playing the music that you started playing being from where being from where you're from
it's oh that's a fun i think that that's a funny story is it like how we got together playing that
music or or is it like why the whole the whole thing yeah how the band like evolved like
yeah making this kind of music from like the beat down um you have to start
you're the root basically.
Yeah, you're the root of this whole ship.
Okay, got it.
So, my musical career
started when I was young.
So I always wanted to play drums first.
But we couldn't afford like a drum kit or whatever.
So I was like, I'm not able to play any string guitars because of a...
How's it called?
My fingers are fucked.
Like I have a...
Stupid fingers.
Whatever.
Fuck it.
Me too stupid fingers.
Stupid fingers.
I'm like physically not even able to play it.
But whatever.
So I thought I need to use the voice basically.
So I started like screaming around like basically every metal vocalist.
Let's be honest, I just screamed around and I'm like, yo, I want to become a vocalist.
So I met our drummer back in the days through a mutual friend and everything.
And I met you because of a girl.
because of a girl. Oh yeah. Yeah, he was in love with a girl. Oh my goodness.
Yeah. Oh, that I ended up in a relationship with. Like, I...
We were dating and one day, Sally came in, came to a show and she was like, okay, bye, Yannick.
No. And now you're sitting here together.
And I was so pissed. I was so pissed.
But I asked her a couple of times, like, is it just a
friend because I don't want to like I don't I didn't knew him
she was like no it's just a friend like nothing wrong with it and we were dating
yeah and I found out with her a couple of months later he cheated on me I'm like
yo you bitch I'm like I'm like you you didn't text me you didn't text me you
came on a show are you of my former first band yeah just such a local band
I came out.
Like, bro, I just heard the whole story.
I'm so sorry.
He was like, yeah, it's fine.
Let's have a beer.
And like, now we're best friends.
He was falling on his knees and said, like, bro, I'm so sorry about this whole thing.
And I was like, dude, it's cool, man.
Yeah, I didn't knew.
But yeah.
Just give me your phone number and we can do some things.
Hey, you want to have, you want to start a band?
Yeah.
And apparently, like, we lived like 10 minutes away from each other.
And we didn't knew each other, which was like even even crazier though.
And yeah, we're best friends since, since, since,
Since then, we found you through Facebook.
Yeah, Facebook.
We need a bass player, so I was like, yeah, cool, let's go.
Yeah, so we, yeah, that's how we met.
I was the hardcore beatdown boy.
He was the fresh metal boy since ever.
You were the slam boy.
And you're like death metal and new metal too.
And we're like, let's just combine all of those genres
and just create something we're happy with.
And here we are.
Yeah, California.
Here we are.
Now in California.
It's funny how, like, the band started were like, okay, like you, imagine.
You remember how pissed you were when that girl left?
I was not even pissed.
I was sad.
I was really sad.
Did you cry?
Did you cry?
No.
I don't know.
I think.
A little bit?
I don't know.
Okay.
I didn't cry.
I'm so sorry.
You can tell.
Zellie's a dick.
I asked her like a thousand times
But she was like
No, all good
I'm just a friend
Imagine that moment
And now you're in California
And now like the whole
The whole cycle started with a band
And that's
I never heard that story before
That's pretty bizarre
We both actually invited her
For our first ever concert
But you guys are weird man
But just like so
You know
It's your fault. You have to go to her show.
Oh, yeah.
She was supposed to be the special guest at a night.
Yeah, but she didn't show up.
Just like, it was just funny to bring this whole thing together like, hmm?
You see what happened?
Huh?
But, yeah, she didn't show up.
Oh, she didn't show up?
No.
It was just like, yeah, we were drunk, like, let's invite her to the first show.
Oh, well.
Come on, it's kind of funny.
It's weird. It's weird as hell, but it's so funny.
Come on.
It's weird, but it is still very funny.
Oh, cool.
We should have fired her to show.
Let's text her at 4 a.m.
Hey, right?
Yeah.
Send her a message on Facebook.
You know?
That's cool.
So when you're talking, I mean, it's cool,
that definitely explains the sound of your band
because you added all these different elements.
You know, you got like the new metal death metal,
like the slam, like the thrash metal,
and then like this beat down,
and he just combined it.
all these things and may like your own sound.
It's pretty cool.
Thank you.
You know?
Thank you.
And now it's as heaviest buck.
It's great.
It just happened.
Yeah.
The sound just...
We didn't have like a...
We never had any structures though.
No, no.
We're just like, let's write a song.
It just do something.
Yeah.
It happens.
Yeah.
Yeah.
We never had...
I mean, the new song is more structured than ever.
But like everyone, like, majors.
Is it matures?
Like getting older and everything and grows with the music, whatever.
But like, yeah, we never, we like, what was it?
Like the only rule we want to follow is never follow any rules in writing music.
That's like the only rule we had, which is crangers hell.
But it worked, bro.
Like, I mean, worked.
We just did.
Not try hard, unique stuff.
More like, let's just do something.
Like, let's just do whatever we want.
But I think that's what everyone is doing, what everyone should do.
And it worked for us, luckily.
Yeah.
It's good.
So you guys came out.
You came out of the gate.
Like, there's no rules.
We're going to play what we want to play.
Yeah.
You know, it's great because a lot of bands don't do that.
They have, like, this, like, some conscious rules.
Yeah.
That they put themselves without.
It's like, this is nothing.
And let's just go all in and write and write them, like, whatever we want to write.
You know, what's, like, like, I definitely want to talk about me personally.
I'm a fan of chapter three.
And how, like, how are you guys writing music then?
It was basically until the newer songs that will come out.
It was basically just us to hanging out and doing stuff.
Yeah.
There was never, like, a line we followed.
I like I content it like
It's always the same or like
We just like after work
We just hung out in our
Self-made home studio basically
Which is like
Let's do something
Let's continue doing that thing
Like next day
And next week, whatever
And just like chapter
Chapter 3 was born
We don't have any
Like it's just
Yeah it's just
Just what it is
We don't have like a
I don't know
no no no
like just go with the flow
yeah
we just we just
hang out and did stuff
and
yeah oftentimes
they would just like come
with those
like
sometimes two songs written
and they showed it to us
and we were like yeah
fuck let's like jam it on the next
band practice
and it was perfect the way it was
so I had a lot of fun
and it was still like
just
if you can say like a hobby thing
Just we had fun writing some shit and we actually that's also a thing we never we never
Chammed in the rehearsal room
To to like get ideas for a new song like you you just said we wrote a song and then we jammed it and it sounded sick
But we never jammed before like we never hung out all together did something like oh yeah, let's record that
We never did it. I don't know it's just not for us. We're just like sitting like we are sitting now with the computer in front of us with the guitar in the sense
and I'm like drum producing like oh that's cool beat like yeah let's go I have a
vocal idea of drama yeah let's go that's it and we came up with chapter 3 it sounds
like yeah you based on like a lot of feel feel having good times hanging out oh yeah oh yeah
yeah yeah and a love obviously I love emotions and shit but also in course yeah I mean that's
just basically else like having a good time together yeah that's just what pale face
it's all about yeah yeah it's great that's it like we like everything is kind of not original but like true
to ourselves kind of like we it's just who we are if you don't like it you don't like us personally too
like we we are we are the same people in the internet and on shows and in private like if you don't
like the music then you probably won't like us yeah we are we are not fake
I'm like, yeah, we're the real.
We are the real Swiss quality.
My goodness.
You know, just being around, you know, I'm not sure this is a good thing
in our bathroom, but I'm just getting this overwhelming feeling of drinking a lot.
Oh, do it.
I am.
I'm drinking right now.
But I want to do it fast.
That was the cue?
Yes.
And that is the cue.
When we got shot glasses, come on.
Yeah, you guys had a good vibe to you.
Thank you.
Oh, thank you.
you know very uh and so on that we're good you know what i have to drive i have to drive
oh yeah jelly is smart thank you so you're oh cheers cheers cheers
heavy riff beat down new metal just gets up that's it
thank you oh you actually went for the shot i'm i'm
all right do you thank you that's how i was a
What the fuck, man?
Holy shit, I'm on camera.
No man, lights out.
It's a great song.
Cursed us.
I mean, and it's, you guys,
it goes to show, man.
You guys are just vibing,
writing sick tunes.
And it's what,
having a good time.
It's dope.
Yeah.
Thank you.
Thank you so much.
Yeah.
Thank you so much.
Okay.
I was planning to ask you later,
but I'll ask now because it's what's coming to my mind.
what's up with the intro
that has
you know
like for which record
are we talking like all of our intros are kind of
it's a like you
he had a fan
oh yeah yeah okay yeah
for fear and dagger
yeah I'll tell the story
because it's like
you don't have to but
I will for short for sure
so a fan hit me up
like he's
is it called schizophrenic
in English.
Like, obviously, like,
English is not our mother tongue,
so please bear with me if I say something wrong, though.
Try my best.
But, yeah, he hit me up,
and he was like,
yo, I really like your band.
I really like the stuff you're writing about,
and it really helps me, like,
getting along with my, like,
schizophrenia, right?
And he was like,
a thing that helped him,
every time he had those,
I don't know how it was a call in English,
though, like every time he had...
Episodes.
Episodes, yeah, basically.
He recorded himself and was like, listen to it again when he was, when he's not having an episode.
Is it?
Yeah.
Correct.
So that helped him like, realizing what's going on and everything.
I was like, yeah, that's that I'm glad for you.
And he was like, maybe he can help other people with that too.
I don't know.
I was like, yeah, why not?
And he really wanted to send me his recordings and he really wanted to, that we, if we, if we want to,
to and to use it for an intro because he was like he is getting along with it like he can deal
with it way better since he's doing stuff like that he since he's open-minded with with his
schizophrenia i was like first we were all like yo uh we're not sure because we don't think that
schizophrenia something like that isn't something we should like use for entertaining purposes or like
making money with or whatever but then he was like
like, yo, let's be honest, like, this shit is real.
Like, we just want to, like, open that the people's eyes, basically, with it.
Like, we always, like, it's still wrong if we don't use it because it's real.
It's not fake.
Like, there's a lot of people out there who suffer from schizophrenia or whatever.
So we were like, let's use it and let's try to open people's eyes.
Like, like, it felt wrong.
and we were like, let's just not use it because we could get like hate or whatever,
or people will not understand it because that's the way it's, it always been,
and it's not getting better that way.
So we used it.
So it's a tough intro, I think.
It's a hard one, but it's still, it's perfect for that record, I think,
because it's like I said, it's raw.
It's true.
It's, yeah, whatever.
it's real.
To be honest, the first time I heard it, it actually brought me to tears.
And then, like, realizing we couldn't use that to do something positive with it,
because objectively, it's a sick-ass intro.
But if you know the source matter, it, like, hits real.
Like, yeah, it hits home.
And just for me personally, like, dealing with, like, different types of,
like, everyone deals with something, with mental health and everything.
and hearing that intro, like, before the show gets me real hype.
Even though, like, we heard it now for, what, 50 times?
A billion times.
I swear, I still love it.
Every time it starts to play, it's just that the first sense, like, I don't want to hear it.
And I'm instantly somewhere else.
Whoa.
So I just like to, yeah.
Favo, our sound guy, too.
Like, when he first heard it, he was like, it was, like, closing his ears because he couldn't, like,
listen to it any longer because, like, he has a lot of, like, mental, uh,
health problems issues.
So he was also like, but in a good way kind of.
Like he covered his ears because not because he thought it was so terrifying,
whatever, more like he connect with it so much.
And that's what we kind of want.
Like open, just open your eyes.
I mean, let's be honest, Switzerland is way, way far behind when it comes to like mental
health stuff.
Really?
Yeah, no one gives the fuck.
In Switzerland, it feels like you grow up.
you just need to make money make money be productive you know buy a house do family and everything
very conservative yeah no one gives a fuck about how you feel it feels like that yeah they don't know
that you can look at it as an illness you know if you i mean if you run if you nose runs i'm sorry
or something you're or you're or you're sick you're ill or something like that you know but if you
feel like depressed or something like that they don't get a fuck just like be happy there's so much good
in the world but it's like i mean you live in switzerland how can you live in the richest country in the
you can't tell someone who is asthmatic like yeah there's so much oxygen in the air like just
breathe no if you depressed you're like that's why we also wanted to do that because
swiss people open your fucking eyes like what is wrong with you you know what i mean not everyone
obviously but yeah that's why we really wanted to stick to that um whole thing yeah yeah
we felt it was right yeah yeah even though it's like very not not not race
keep but you know what i mean like it's we still feel let's do it it's it's it's the right also like
to break the moniker like you don't even if you want to be tough or you have to be tough or everything
like the toughest dudes i know suffer from depression and like do cry as well and that's also something
like you don't have to be ashamed of that yeah for sure yeah so that's the whole thing about
that intro long story but yeah no it's a short for it's great yeah i like it and um thank you
Even though it's a very, you can say, extreme intro,
it sounds like you guys put a lot of thought into it.
Is this right?
Should we do this?
Given the thought and the time you put into it
and the content matter, you did it because it was right.
Yes.
Yeah, thank you.
What did...
Just to wrap up this story.
Like, what did you first feel and think when you heard it?
The first time you're like,
what is like
that's tough
because it was a long time ago
when I heard it the first time
do you guys remember
like that now because I have to know
now I remember pretty vividly
I was scared
scared yeah I was actually scared
I felt pretty uncomfortable
first in the bad way but then in the good way
but like
yeah I also connected with it
somehow and just
the fact that it was real
like it's not like just a sound from
a movie or something. That's what I thought.
It's something as real. Like the first time I heard it, I
didn't make it through almost.
I got to put the way the headphones and just
like breathe for a moment. And yeah, to be honest,
just have a just a little sip and then go back
into it. I learned to like to enjoy it.
But yeah, that was like my experience
with it. Give me a little bit of whiskey to
handle this fucking song, man. Yeah. Oh my goodness.
It felt so raw. And like
what he says and how he says it. Yeah.
I knew it like I knew it was a real recording and I was like whoa so this is real you know
what I mean I was I think I was like that so yeah for me it's like I'm the only guy
like I texted with him a long time before he sent me that so I was like yeah I getting
to know him and everything so I like I was the only one of the band who had contact with
or to him or whatever. So I was like it didn't catch me off guard because we talked a lot
of like schizophrenia and everything. You know what I mean? I kind of knew what will like what I had to
expect or whatever. So it wasn't like it's it was shocking. Don't get me wrong. I guess it was
well but I'm like that guy. I was more like like my first thought was like it's like it's
amazing in its own kind of way, you know what I mean? Like it is amazing in terms of like
open your eyes or like whatever. But also I was like can we use it? Should we use it?
I was like think like I had so many thoughts in my head. I'm not as you, you will like breathe
for a second. I'm like yo what should we do? Should we use it? Should we not? Should we like
leave it raw? Whatever you know what I mean? But yeah also I I texted with him a long time
before that. So it was like he was preparing me for that like he was, like he was preparing me for that. Like
He told me what I'm about to hear or whatever.
So the moment I heard it was, I knew we would use that as an intro.
So I had like this base to like...
Oh yeah, you, I already told you, yo, we will use it like we talked about it and everything.
Just listen to it and I hope you like it.
Yeah.
Do you know like, because I want to...
I have to.
I want to play five seconds of it.
Yeah.
Or 10.
Where's like a good time marker?
Like 10 seconds in, 20, 40.
I think about 20 seconds.
When his first like scream comes up, that's like where all the people are like,
yo, this shit's real.
Like the first few seconds, he's just talking.
Like at a certain point, he starts to scream out loud.
And I was like, yo, that's hard.
Oh, geez.
oh my holy moly
yeah
all right
RJ we're good
we're fucking good man
yeah
and that's why
you're
that's why your
that's why your pillow pace
that's sick
and I mean he told me
in details
what he saw
what he saw
when he recorded that
I mean we can just hear
the recordings
but like
like he saw stuff
right
while he was recording it
and he told me
everything that he saw
I'm basically
like did the only
one who knows everything because I think it's too private to tell you know what I mean like on a podcast
agree so um yeah but like I always have like those images um like in front of my eyes but like what
what he told me when I listen to that intro which is more which is even more like kind of
it's hard it's hard so yeah man this is sick yeah this is awesome I mean I well I I I appreciate you going in
depth with what that's what I came from I was like I want I want to ask him are
they they gonna answer it I don't know oh yeah so I mean I mean like it's also like
it it helps people to open up their their eyes when we talk about it you know
I mean like they they know the story behind it they're like yeah yes let's let's
connect to that and keep on going well given where where you're from it
it's only appropriate to read what we have up here just got people there's you
Humans hear words all the time and see people all the time, but they don't really know the meaning of the words.
You hear the word, especially around here, you hear the word, schizo, schizophrenic.
People don't really know what it means.
So if you type in schizophrenic on Google, you have schizophrenia is a serious mental disorder in which people interpret reality abnormally.
pretty nuts
may result
in some combination of
hallucinations
delusions and extremely
distorted thinking and behavior
that impairs daily
functioning that can be
disabling
that's
it's pretty nuts dude
because a lot of people think that's schizophrenia
is just when you have multiple personalities
but that's not
no but that's not actually it
yes
yeah oh jeez um
i wasn't
i wasn't i wasn't
i wasn't planning to talk about yeah i have a i have a brother that has a
that that that has this it's hard it's hard to see he's he's in his he's in his 50s
this is hard like because i you know i grew up with them
so you see if someone be like a certain with normal normal
as i'm doing quotations and then you see him like we're like what the fuck yeah you know
So CNB homeless and
So the fact that you guys
Like
Put this out on a record
I think it's extremely important
And I think it's fucking sick
Thank you so much
I think I think
This adds impact to what
To the meaning of the word
It adds to impact to
To your music
And you guys have a foundation of like
You know
I'm honored to know you guys
In person now
I play to show you guys
And now you're here in person
From fucking across the world
You guys
You guys are
you guys are you and you're reals to have like that
authentic foundation and then to do something
like this it takes me back to like
you know I'm not calling you new metal but it takes me back to like
that that you know
you remember hearing corn's daddy
yeah you're like what the fuck is going on
dude yeah it's it's rare
it's rare when you get that feeling again
but so every once in a while
it comes back up it's sick
thank you thank you thank you
Thank you man. You guys brought it man, sick. I mean, we all love new metal so much.
So it's kind of a big, big like, compliment. So yeah, we are, yeah, that's sick. That's sick.
And then you add a beat down to it. What's that?
Oh yeah, and trash metal and everything.
Just be yourself, yeah.
Just be yourself. Yeah.
It's cool. Oh my, I'm sorry. I'm trying to, I'm trying to gather myself to be honest. I'm sorry.
it's all no
all good
I'll good
take it
yeah it's cool man
you got
you guys are
you guys are awesome
you know
thank you so much
thank you so much
likewise
heavier shut up man
heavier shit
dude
you know
thank you
and uh
you guys make me want to drink a lot
I'm not sure
that's a good thing
what's that
you guys made me want to drink a lot
uh
I'm like
as long as you feel comfortable with it
it's definitely a good thing
it is
you know I learned
I'm in the hard way
that to
to drink responsibly
And
Because, you know, back, you know, I'm 37 now
And my early mid-20s
It was definitely a escape of life
And an idiot kid
I got fat
Dude, I'm almost fat
You was like, well, yeah
They always like, you know, you could
Because then you get drunk as fuck
And then you want to, you know, you want to eat
McDonald's all the time and then, you know, burritos.
Yeah.
You know.
That's also something.
It's different out here, bro,
when it comes to fast food and stuff.
Like we talked about that with Angel Maker.
Like in Switzerland, like, it's the complete opposite.
Like, they told us, like, if you want to, like, go to a grocery store's where you can, like, buy healthy stuff.
Like, you have to drive sometimes, like, for an hour or so.
But, like, fast food is just around the corner.
For us, it's like the complete opposite.
Like, for fast food, you have to drive sometimes 30 minutes or an hour.
Depends where you live.
You serious?
Yeah.
Grocery stores is like in every fucked-up small village.
Like you can find fresh salad, fresh fruits, fresh vegetables.
Everywhere.
On every corner, basically.
And mostly the unhealthy shit is more expensive than the healthy shit.
Yeah, which is that complete opposite over here.
So we were, let's say, not shocked, but still, you know, this shit is real.
Like, we heard that, but we're like, it can't be real, but it is real.
Which is like for us, it's, it is kind of shocking.
Let's be honest, bro.
Like, I have to pay more for an apple than for a burger.
I'm like, what?
That's crazy.
And also, like, your small sizes are our large sizes.
And I thought that was a joke everywhere.
We always joke about that.
Like, the first time I ordered that cup and I was like small.
And she gave me that cup.
I was like, no, no, I said small.
It's fucking it, bro.
What?
Bro, it's tiny.
The best thing I still, like, and someone told me, like, it's true.
Like, you came up.
I was like, yeah, let's walk over there.
He was like, bro, win America.
Everything, like, every distance that's longer than a car, we need to drive.
Yeah.
I'm like, what the fuck?
That's like the rule.
And one came, and who came up to him was like, bro, it's true.
I never leave my house without my car.
Never.
I'm like, it is really like, it is new for us.
It's not, not bad, but.
But either you can also like park everywhere.
Yeah, that's also like in Switzerland you cannot.
Like you have to fight for a parking lot.
Like no one goes to shows, for example, by car.
Like still a lot of people do so.
But I think it's like 50% goes by train.
More.
I'd say 50% of the public transportations or just walk.
Yeah, more than 50%.
Like in Switzerland, I think Europe in general,
when you leave the house with your car
like you always think that
I should have to park somewhere
and that always like is it really
necessary to drive my car now
it's like it was
everything's like in terms
that it's so new for us out here
like it's like really
like we kind of knew it
but still it is real
which is still like
but it's awesome
it's really hard
it's fun it's too much but I'm pretty
sure like we all talked about that
Like, it's a beautiful and an interesting country to visit.
But I talk to a lot of, a lot of, like, citizens, and they like to live here, it's probably not the best country.
I'm not like, I can imagine.
I mean, if you have to eat fast food all day long or whatever, it can be not that cool, like, over a long time, whatever.
But to visit, for us, it is beautiful.
Yeah, awesome.
Crazy.
And I do come up to me with like, yo, when it comes, wait until you have to visit.
Is it a dentist, bro?
I'm like, okay, I got it.
I got it.
Like, okay, yeah.
Like I said, it's new.
It's new for us.
It's very interesting.
We are learning and stuff about that kind.
It's very interesting, but also like, yeah, new.
And a lot of fun and...
Yeah, for us it's a lot of fun.
It's beautiful and cool.
But we are interested in like the, also like the downsides.
I want to know how it is to live out here because like I said,
We don't have that, to be honest.
We don't have that in Switzerland, the way you have it.
So I want to know how it is.
You know, like living in...
You have cities as big as Switzerland, you know what I mean?
It is so crazy.
It's not...
Yeah, it's not imaginable for us.
If like someone from the other bands, for example, on this tour,
tells us, yeah, we're going to eat at a spot just around the corner
and it's like a 20 to 30-minute drive.
And first, that's...
Yeah, Chris also told us,
It's right next to the venue.
I'm like, I forgot it's in America, bro.
We have to drive 20 minutes.
For us 20 minutes, you're like skip two towns.
For me, like next to the venue is like the same building.
Like maximum like two minute walk.
I'm like, fuck, I forgot we're in America.
That's like something I really love about America.
It's like everything is big and spacey.
So you have like room to breathe and everything.
That's true.
In Switzerland you feel like almost claustrophobic.
Yeah, that's true.
There's business everywhere.
Yeah.
And in Zurich, like, everyone is stressed and arrogant and like money, money, money, money, money, business.
Dude, the friendliness over here was overwhelming.
Exactly.
Exactly when it comes to driving on the street.
Bro.
But that's in every country, to be honest.
To be honest, like in Switzerland, when you have to like switch lanes, they're like, yeah, sure, go for it.
And he'll like, fuck you.
That's my lane.
I don't give it fun.
That's my lane.
I don't give it fuck.
A truck motherfucker let's see about that.
That's one of the first things I was like, okay, okay, fuck you.
Dude, but American highways are wild, man.
What they're talking with with pickup trucks, that's crazy.
That's how pickup truck with a fucking house on wheels back.
And then another car at the back of the house, bro, it is so...
We saw one pickup truck with like four like sandbogies loaded back.
It is so, like, everything is new.
Like for us, it's like, we're like little boys like, oh my god, everything is so big.
Yeah.
It's cool.
It's cool.
But in a good way, in a good way, you don't get me wrong.
Like two weeks in, and it still feels like a dream.
Yeah.
Weird kind of surreal experience.
I mean, we are like, keep in mind from Switzerland, bro.
I don't know.
I don't know one or two or three bands or whatever.
Like Switzerland isn't that, like when it comes to movies and music and stuff.
Switzerland isn't the most international country.
No, no.
That makes it even more special, to be honest.
It's so cool.
So cool to be here.
The only international thing is the money in the packs.
Yeah.
And the chocolate.
Yeah, and the watches.
Yeah.
Watchers chocolate.
Yeah, yeah.
Swiss cheese.
You know what I'm saying.
But yeah, I mean, dude.
So again, this is like your first time, this is Pillface's first time touring the States.
And what a great Twitter be on?
Yeah.
You know it is.
It's completely sold out.
I just got the update for New York, which was the last year that it's not sold out.
And it's like 80 to 90 to 90.
90% sold out, so it will be sold out, let's be honest.
So it's a first time you ask completely sold out.
I know we're opener and everything, but still the crowd's reaction, let's be honest, we can tell that
we're like that people were looking to looking forward to see us, you know what I mean?
Like a lot of people, a lot of people sing along to our songs.
Yeah, I love that.
So we don't feel like we're an opener band, to be honest, which is a good thing, which is definitely good thing.
it's a first time for us here sold out so many people very number we also have like that first
time here bonus like the people couldn't that's that's true but it's not always a blessing i heard that
like it's not always a blessing to be in a country for the first time as a as a band it's always like
yeah it's the first time your opener he's like 100 bucks for a show whatever you know i mean i heard
that before too from like friends bands and whatever so we are yeah we we are so thankful
So cool.
I'm just type of,
I can't try out.
It's so cool.
It's great.
You guys are very good.
It's good to hear like a fresh perspective on, on here.
And so basically we have a shitty drivers and too much food, right?
Well, well.
But, yeah.
I mean, that's not.
I mean.
Don't forget.
Also, shitty water.
Oh, I'm so sorry.
I have to try to tell you.
It's also new for us to not be able to drink tap water.
That's for sure.
But we knew that.
We knew that.
I didn't know that.
We used to now.
Yeah.
Yeah.
It's like everything is in bottles and everything is in those plastic bags.
That's also something.
It's also new for us.
Like we barely buy water in bottles in Switzerland.
No, no.
And everyone has its own.
shopping bag oh yeah yeah that's also something like they put like no
matter what the fuck you're buying Walmart they put it into those plastic bags it
doesn't matter what it is if it's a cow yeah okay okay
like an environmentalist in in America you get a fucking hard
yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah definitely
definitely let's fucking go it's cool but don't don't get me wrong it's like we we it's just
different
Yeah, it's just, I enjoy like the little differences.
It's really different.
And everyone makes, not makes fun of it, but everyone is like talking about it.
It's funny.
It's new and it's funny and it's, yeah.
But also, there's a lot of stuff about Switzerland and the same thing, you know what I mean?
So.
Yeah, we're not perfect.
Nope.
No, no.
No, no, I'm the worst.
But I always, people are just go by habit.
Like, you literally, like, I always do it almost daily.
Like, if someone's putting shit in a bag,
You have to physically say don't put in the back.
Yeah.
There's always, they're always in like a habit.
To me, my, my big thing is water.
Like, let's say you're at a restaurant or you're eating anywhere.
Like, it's always like, don't give me more water.
Because I don't want to leave the table with a full thing in water.
Because water is a shortage.
You know?
Yeah.
It is.
You have, you have like water shortage here.
Water shortages and down in Mexico where they don't have water for it to make, like, fruits and vegetables.
So I'm like, you know, little things.
you gotta tell me
don't put,
because they're so accustomed
it's like
water
bags and like
plastic
and it's just like
you gotta be like
yeah
that's also something
they always
refill our cups
yeah
and we're like
the first time
we're like
what is this
bro who ordered that
yeah
it got
it got
hostile very quickly
like who ordered that
yeah
oh yeah
there's only one
coke on the receipt
but I was like
excuse me man
do we
like we
we haven't ordered
to do
also like
the first time
we
um
like they came with the coffee
and like do you want some more
we were all like no we're good
and it felt like we were
in some things like the wage
oh wow
you don't want coffee
yeah
like in Switzerland it would be that way
no
you have to order another coffee
yeah yeah yeah
you have to pay for the second cost
yeah sure but if they offer you
that and you're like
now I'm good to say
you root motherfucker
I'm gonna drink it by myself
that's like
a bad thing in Switzerland
though like it's
here's everyone is so
friendly and like yeah
let's have another
drink let's let's do that let's do that and in Switzerland is like oh you don't want to drink
with me well fine motherfucker I'm gonna find someone else I like okay yeah the thing is when
you order something you're they can't get that but without me then they're like you're
really want to you really want to do that if you want to yeah you really want to piss me off
I'm like okay sorry yeah and yeah that's cool out here like everyone is friendly and open mind
yeah yeah you're sure no problem yeah let's do it let's do it let's all
That's cool. That's really cool. We enjoy that.
Also, you walk by people and they're like, hey, cool shirt or hey, I like that.
Just walk by and you're like, me? What happened?
What happened?
Yeah.
You never get that in Switzerland.
Never.
Never.
Never.
Never.
You can walk around like the most beautiful dude or like the most extrovert, whatever, like, dress or whatever.
No one gives a fuck.
Like they all like.
No, there was just like like this.
Yeah.
Everyone looks like this.
Oh, they're like.
you just want the attention yeah just dress more classic i'm like thank you like you too
even just if we want to ask somebody for a cigarette it's like a very tense situation like
can i have any smoke and they first like can you buy your own cigarette you get that
yeah just a one you can we're fucking peasant yeah so yeah but different countries
different habits you said yeah yeah here it's so like you want you want you want a
cigarette you just sure hey you want you want you want my house yeah yeah so like
you get you never get that in Switzerland how many dates do you have in California
three three three friends no and San Francisco and and then there's will there are
four dates Roseville too yeah four day okay yeah see Fresno San Francisco oh you're
in your four days yeah nice yeah it's four
Oh, yeah.
Roswell.
I normally don't do this, but you guys, I mean, I have to talk about food right now.
Like, are you planning to eat anything?
You have to eat in California.
In terms of what, like...
I would say Mexican food.
Okay.
Like, everybody told me get some street tacos.
That's what all the people told me like.
We just ate the most, like the fanciest tacos in the world, I guess.
Yeah.
Oh, yes.
Right before that podcast, oh, that was sick.
We had like kind of a, I don't know, like our manager and a Buchananian and everyone was like, they're all here in LA for the show.
And they invited us to a, a good restaurant, I'd say, a good Mexican lunch.
Well, like we hadn't had any time with like 20 minutes time.
Everyone was like nicely dressed up and we'll walk in there like stink it.
But that's fine.
And we ate the best tacos.
Because I ever had, like, it looked like I could breathe that in because it was so small.
Like, like, it's done.
But still, it was perfect, bro.
Like, I'm like, good for now.
But it wasn't much.
It costed much, but it was worth it, bro.
It was so delicious.
Even, like, the shader was golden.
Oh, my God took the best shit of.
And we're like, we're at home.
Do you remember where
this was?
Next to Disneyland.
Should we give them a shout
out at the restaurant?
It was something with Peepe
I still got it on my phone.
Next to the Disneyland.
Wait, where we got it.
But at least you had Mexican food in California.
It's called.
Yeah, but we still need to get
the authentic street taco
like the guy on the side
of the street with a truck.
It's Puestow Anaheim
It was delicious.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, pasta.
It was very delicious.
Wow.
Yeah, you guys had the experience.
Great.
Yeah, we had it.
Yeah, it's this one.
Yeah, it was, it was a lot.
Yeah, this one.
You guys went to a spot.
I don't know.
We got, like, they just drove to that, drive to that address and we're like, yeah, that's cool.
Yeah, I woke up like five minutes before.
I didn't know what the fuck was going on.
I was just like, everything is golden and we have tacos.
I was like, yeah.
This is extremely nice even to me.
I live here.
This is amazing. This is top-notch.
Yeah.
So we're even more thankful to have the opportunity to eat those now.
Dude, you, by playing beat on a row.
And you're eating here.
Yeah. Let's fucking go.
I don't even eat here. I'm gonna sue the sons.
I don't even eat here.
I got a big pale face. What's up, dude?
Yeah, I'm in, dude.
Let's go. Next time we're here, should we make a promise.
Next time we're here and you are here to.
two let's go we invite you to eat at that restaurant oh yeah yeah thank you yeah yeah you have it on camera
yeah yeah next time we're here we'll go eat there only because it's a fact it's it's pretty
mind-blowing to me how how how far your band's come and now now you're here um like what like what
what you got you guys into like heavy shit anger nice good slip knot i i i like when i was
little my my dad had a had a had an
and he was like into rock like nickel back and stuff and I grabbed his iPad and
was going to the music library and there was the song All the Hope is gone by step and yeah I'm
that young okay I'm that I'm sorry I'm trying to calm down yeah yeah I'm young so that
was the song All Hope is gone night I I press playing like yeah with that so I got into that
yeah but I the first electric guitar was from Nickelback
I guess, which is still I like Licklebeck, blame me.
I don't care.
I love them, too.
Yeah, we sang along to them together a lot.
So yeah, but All Hopes Gone was the first song I heard of Slipknot.
That's a great song here.
It is, and that got me into having music.
I started with power metal.
Okay.
I was into Halloween when I was a kid.
And obviously ACDC and all the those rock bands,
Led Zeppelin and
the Who and stuff
but like Halloween was the first metal band
I listened to and then I
discovered creator and then
I got into the heavy shit
dang
that's the story and
Sally introduced me to
those beat down hardcore
stuff
but I was the metal boy
he used the all right
I am I am that that metal
head but it's so sick.
Oh my goodness.
For me basically
it's like songs from my dad
like the old songs like the Iron Maiden
Jesus Priest and then
started going into like
the Viking stuff and death metal
like Eamon Amon Amos
and Armine and stuff
and then just
getting heavier over time
so sometimes when we drive we're like really
in the vibe. We listen to the
raise your horns playlist. Yeah it's called
the raise your horns playlists
was like the good heavy metal shit really big yeah yeah yeah was like typical like
Papa Roach Lincoln Park then later corn slip knot and like corn was the first band that like
introduced me into like heavy really heavy shit and yeah I was typical that that like
odd kid who didn't fit in anywhere but as soon as I listen to corn or slip knot you like feel
you belong somewhere yeah even do you don't in your real life so you have
that real new metal experience.
Yeah, of course.
I thought that's sick.
That's why I still, to this day, a lot for new metal.
Like, I know it gets a lot of shit, but I don't understand.
I mean, like, for me, it was a good gateway into, like, heavier shit.
Now, today, what does it for me is, like, the old school 80s, 90s death metal, like, suffocation, for example.
But I still jam and love, like, corn, slip knot and, like, mudwain, everything like that, yeah.
It's cool.
Yeah, it's kind of crazy.
like new metal takes you to like
a different place you're like oh you like oh
I feel like I don't I feel I belong here
yeah also it's crazy how it did that
also like growing up with
old school hip hop on the other way
like Bhutan Dalai the people
Sep Brazil and everything
especially corn like the songs they did
with Nas and Ice Cube
like it melted everything I loved
about music in just one
like thing you could
like really combine it to fit in
that was for me yeah
I was always like that kid back in the corner with like the like the 128 megabyte hype.
Of course.
Like no type like MP3 play back in the day.
Just like jamming to like soulfly corn everything.
Oh shit.
Awesome.
Yeah.
So all that was full of new metal, huh?
Yeah.
I'm always saying this because you're a younger band and these are what you guys had, right?
Oh yeah.
Yeah.
Not even. I couldn't afford that.
I had the shitty
LP3 player.
You remember when it used to
like risk give your PC
like every type of virus
just to get a shit version of a song?
I remember that too, bro.
And I'm, yeah, I remember.
So am I going to download this record
and my computer's going to go into shit?
So basically you pay $1,000 for a fucking
a record, right? Yeah, yeah, basically.
Yeah. If you look back
on like, I'm a
assuming that the websites you're talking about is like Napster, LimeWire.
Okay, no, I just use YouTube to MP3 converter.
That's it.
Okay.
Yeah, shout out.
The next step.
Okay.
Line wire was way worse.
Okay.
If you think about it, like, yeah, look at this.
No, I have no idea, bro.
Yeah.
Those files were just injected with viruses.
Yeah.
Yeah.
No matter who, how small the death metal band was, your mental band, you're downloading viruses.
Yeah.
Crazy.
It's basically a virus library.
Like, you get to 99% of the download and they would just corrupt the whole file.
Oh, yeah.
It just stops.
It stops.
And if it downloaded, you didn't know if it was like, you could listen to it or not.
And then you had like the bootleg versions, which sound awful.
Yeah.
Especially when you're downloading porn, you're so mad.
When it gets like 99%, you know, it's like 9.
saying it stops you're like oh my god you're like fucking jagging knob you're like oh no
you're so close you kids don't know how easy you have it is this i mean i grew up with we are porn
so um oh all right we used to jack off to like
oh no no with a weird like shape yeah that could look like an ass oh yeah
funny our yeah we we were like off the shapes
Color and shape, okay, great.
Yeah, let's fucking go.
National Geographic magazines.
Yeah.
Speaking of that.
Just in the middle.
And closing the subject, where we're talking about these guys,
don't ever get into VR porn.
That's too much.
It's too much.
I never tried it out.
It's too much.
I haven't never tried it.
I won't ever try that because it's too, it's too much of,
you're trying to make it reality.
Should we do it?
You know, no.
We should do it.
No.
Come on, guys.
Let's fucking go.
We'll let you know how it is.
Yeah.
That's just too much disconnect from like reality and like women and and the experience of sex.
Don't don't do it.
But maybe you're missing out on the best night of your life.
No, no, no, no.
Oh my goodness.
I got sure.
We're just saying that like, yeah, don't ever.
You talked about that earlier or is it like the VR thing?
You talked about that?
Oh, yeah.
Off pod.
We were like talking like about like, you know, because you were, oh, you know, you, you, you
You download it, but like now you have this VR shit coming out.
Yeah.
And I was like, that's one thing I won't fuck with.
That's just, that's too.
Because back of my day, you would go to a forest and you find paper.
You find, like, the magazine.
Yeah.
And I was like, wow.
But, you know, there's still like a disconnect.
You know, but the VR is just so, it's so in your face.
And like the sound, it's just too much.
We're like, I think this is too much.
That's just like, no, no, no.
No, no.
No, no.
Thanks.
Thanks.
And we're here jacking off the paper and shapes and like, you know, whatever.
But like, there is.
Look at it.
We would check off that.
Look at this booty, bro.
Oh, man.
That's like my favorite.
When I was 13, I would check off to this.
Squid your eyes and it looks like an ass.
Yeah.
Oh, my fuck.
Probably pre 13, man.
Check out her first time to that.
Waiting till also the load.
Oh, my goodness.
Oh, yeah.
The page would load.
Yeah.
Just like above the naples would just.
Stop, it.
Come on, man.
Jeez, movies, dude.
So we came all the way from Switzerland to talk about how we joined down.
About to Minecraft.
New Pilfeet single out right now.
New album cover.
Oh my goodness.
Boy, that is a pretty new metal cover.
It is.
Yeah.
But guys, listen up, I need to pee so bad.
It's a cool if I head out real quick.
Because my, how's it called is so small.
I need to be out.
Let's uh...
Let's wrap it up.
Should we?
Already?
Okay.
Yeah.
Okay.
I didn't meant to end this whole shit.
No, it was.
I need to pee real quick.
No, but you guys are...

You guys are heavy as fuck.
I'm honored to have hung out with you guys.
Thank you so much.
Thanks, thanks for you.
I think you're adding something fresh and new to the genre.
And, uh, yeah, I think you guys are fucking sick.
And it's really cool to see you guys, like, first time in the States.
Are we playing sick out shows?
Wow.
Yes, yes, yes.
Wow, dude.
Yeah, look, that flyer is.
That's insane.
It is so cool.
Great, great lineup.
I was talking out with the body standards right now, Andrew Maker.
Great, great lineup, great bands.
You know, I'm older, so it's like, it takes a lot for me to get inspired.
And it would be like, oh, this is sick.
But you guys, this is very inspiring to me.
Thank you so much.
That means a lot.
Yeah.
