muscle memory singing and then I'll be like, huh, what's funny?
And then I'll think of like three sentences and I'll pick one within that like 30 seconds.
And then I'll just say.
We never know.
And then he'll like say something stupid like.
I said, all the water burgers closed.
Yeah, yeah, we're in Texas.
He's like, he's like, acting like all the water burgers are just closed.
I said Buckees is closing for good.

I noticed it works better when you're a diet's on point.
You know, if you're eating it right, which is rare.
Yeah.
So basically, it just, yeah.
Anyways, today we have Body Snatcher.
Good to see you guys.
Yeah, sure.
Thank you for making a drive from Tempe.
It's a mesa.
Mesa.
Seven, seven hours, I think.
Seven hours, holy moly.
Yeah, we just played the Nile Underground.
It was very hot.
Yeah.
Is it hot outside yet?
No, no.
It's in like a basement.
So it's like really hot down there.
Yeah.
Like really, really moist actually.
Extremely.
It wasn't too bad as far as the last time we were there.
It was like way hotter because we played in the summer.
Yeah.
But this time it wasn't bad.
I mean, the last time we played the Nile was with dying fetus and Chelsea Grinn.
Yeah, that was the upstairs.
And so that was pretty cool.
we've opted to take some smaller venues for this tour just because we wanted to like
it might be like one of the last times that we're going to play like the smaller venues so we wanted
to do that yeah so there was a couple venues that wanted us to upgrade and we're like no
nice we want to keep it in this small room just because like yeah we'll make less money but
it's more fun to us and it means more to us I don't know just like sometimes no barricade is
way cooler for us you know that's sick and then I think the next time you come around it's like a
kind of like a no-brainer.
Yeah, for sure.
I'm sure kids were stoked.
Oh, yeah.
Kids, kids, kids, there's a lot of kids not stoked because they couldn't get into the show.
Oh, man.
We had some kids that ended up buying VIP because you could do upgrades.
And they bought the upgrade and didn't realize they didn't come with a ticket.
So there's like six people yesterday that couldn't get into the show, but they were in the VIP.
And I, of course, felt so bad.
We tried to guest list them, but the venue, because it was oversold, the venue, wouldn't let us put anyone else on.
but it's all good do you
congrats after four records like you guys are really
taken off I mean you're I see all
it's like you know sold out I mean
I'm going to right now oh my
it's it's all sold out
Brooklyn
Brooklyn right now has 100 tickets left
that is
unbelievable yeah it's crazy
dude it's been wild and like
masquerade got upgraded
to heaven and heaven ended up selling
out all that
rock box in San Antonio
ended up getting upgraded to vibes
and vibes sold out to
do it. Dude is crazy. San Antonio
that was like the craziest show we've ever played.
I felt like it was like Empiricon Fest.
Like looking at it was just like 75 people
swinging their arms at one time
and the crowd of a thousand was just so crazy.
Multiple pits at the same time
like separated like throughout the whole thing.
Yeah.
Oh that's the best.
Like there's multiple people getting killed right now.
Yeah.
That was like yeah.
Everywhere you look.
The St. Louis show.
No, we're not.
St. Louis is a pretty hard market, you know what I mean?
And, like, it is a hard market, yeah.
In St. Louis, sold out a crowd, and I just look out and there's like, one pit, two pits, three pits.
And there's, like, people crowd surfing in between them.
And I was just like, I look at him and I was like, holy shit, dude.
It's crazy.
Isn't that, like, a trip, like, being from, like, you know, central east Florida?
And, like, coming from there and putting out multiple albums and, like, seeing, like, the reaction now.
Oh, it's crazy.
It's a fucking trip, man.
Yeah, it is.
It's crazy.
It's wild to, you know, go from playing, I don't know, Cloud Springs Deli to 20 people to, like, you know, years later you're playing heaven and masquerade.
It's crazy.
It's just, like, wild to see the growth and the progress.
And it's, like, cool to see old faces, too.
Like, there's kids that'll come up to me and they'll be like, dude, I saw you eight years ago with Demolisher.
And I'm like, oh, my gosh, you were one of the 20 people.
And now you're one of the thousand people.
That's crazy.
Like, it's just, it's wild how that works out, you know.
It's great also, because you never, like, sacrificed anything about, about your music.
Mm-hmm.
It's still, like, it's still ignorant, heavy.
Yeah.
I'm intimidated by it, it's sick, you know.
It's fucking, I was like, man, it didn't, no, no compromising.
It's a trip to see how far the style of music has come, and more so, like, how far you guys come.
Mm-hmm.
Yeah.
It's why, even, like, six months ago, if you would have said, like, we had,
We had this tour planned, you know, and six months ago, if you would have said that this tour was going to sell out every single day, we'd be like, no, it's not.
You know what I mean?
Like, we didn't know.
You know, it's just like, but the package is so good.
Every band on the package, like kids in the genre, they want to see everyone on this package.
And it's just like, I don't know, it just ended up crushing.
And now we're extremely grateful for it.
It's just crazy.
It's really hard to believe, you know.
Yeah.
Yeah, I've got distant, Angel Maker, Paleface.
Yeah.
Like four kick-ass bands.
Yeah.
Yeah.
That's awesome.
That's the,
those are kind of tours that I like scene.
Like three,
four bands that are like top sick.
Yeah.
And then you get your face like,
it's really hard.
Like,
I feel like it's really hard for people
to put tours like that together a lot of times.
Because,
yeah,
because,
you know,
a lot of bands don't want to play
underneath other bands.
Oh,
you got.
Oh,
you know.
Oh,
yeah.
I know,
I know,
I know you know.
That's always the struggle for you.
But that's the biggest struggle.
But if you want to put together a great tour package, you have to that.
You have to sacrifice that, I guess would you say, the pride or the ego?
I guess you would say you don't want to.
It's for the greater good to be like, hey, this tour is crazy.
It's not worth just saying, oh, well, I don't want to do that because of this or this look or whatever.
It's like it's going to benefit everybody.
Yeah.
And when you put a tour like this together where every.
band is doing great and every band is just popping like everyone's making money you know what i mean like
everyone's selling merch it's not just like it's not just a headliner and some bands you know what i mean
it's like a bunch of bands people want to see so a bunch of people are buying merch from every band
totally yeah it's really it's really awesome to see and yeah i don't know it's cool everyone's
everyone on the package is really appreciative and it's badass well i'm glad you guys uh you guys earn that
you guys earn that lineup
you know
I always get tripped out
when I see anything like this
because what you were just saying
I'm like oh how do they put that package together
how many emails of that fucking take
honestly
this this package was one
every every band said yes
instantaneously
wow isn't that crazy
that is
that's like unheard of
because usually you're like
there's like one or two
where they're like
yeah we don't know
but it was like literally we asked
and it was like eight hours later
I was like oh so and so said yes
and it was like okay I guess we'll move on
the next one
Well, originally it was Crown Magna Chard as the opening slot, and then they got to offer for...
Chaos and Carnage.
Yeah.
And then, so we were like, dude, take it.
You know what I mean?
Like, that's not something that we...
Oh, really?
Oh, yeah.
Oh, shit.
That's weird.
No, like, that's not something that we would get mad about, because we do.
We've had, you know, we've had to drop tours to take other tours that we thought would benefit us more.
You know what I mean?
So it's like, if they want to do that...
It's awesome.
You know what I mean?
That's cool that they got that offer to do it.
You know, so, and then we went and we asked distant, right when we asked distant,
they were like, yep.
So it honestly was a breeze putting this tour together.
Dude, that is fucking nuts, dude.
Yeah, sometimes timing just lines up, you know?
Yeah, no, for sure, for sure.
Especially after four records.
You're like, oh, yeah, I actually worked out.
Yeah.
It's weird.
Have you seen that band play before?
I think you guys are on, I think you guys are on tour with them.
Yeah, I saw them once around here.
they were sick.
They were a very good band.
Their vocal is a badass.
Yeah.
Yeah.
He's awesome.
You know, like, you know they're sick when like, you know, like, you get like the inner
fan boy and you have to go up and talk to him after you're like, you're like, dude,
yeah.
They, they, is, the interesting story about that band is that band's been around for a while
too.
Like, we would come to Denver and we'd be like, who's this opening band?
Like, what, really is this?
And then, and then like, years later, it was like, oh, they're on a tour now.
And then now they're getting that traction.
It's like, oh, that's cool.
Like, I love to see that.
left to suffer too at left to suffer you used to always like they would be like the local band on our
Atlanta shows and then we were like oh let's take that band out you know what I mean so like on our
last headliner that was one of their first I think that was their first full US tour was it was our last
headliner that we did in 2021 and so but yeah they were just like one of those bands that was crushing
and they played great live and we're like oh let's give that band a shot you know so and now they're
now they're crushing it's awesome it's great to see everyone
is killing it.
Yeah.
You know,
I'm like,
I'm like,
I want to do that.
That does not,
that does not even look like Taylor.
That's crazy.
Yeah.
That's an old.
That's an old picture.
Taylor looks ripped there.
I just feel like the genre is crushing right now.
You know what I mean?
Like,
it's really picking steam back up like where it was back in the day,
you know?
Yeah,
getting that,
uh,
that same vibe.
But now the band is way sicker.
Yeah.
You know?
There's,
I mean,
yeah
I like a lot of old bands
still
a lot of old bands still
yeah you guys like
you guys always
like talk about like the newer
I'm not newer but older
like earlier 2000s
mid 2000s like
my space death core bands
oh for sure
you know it's like
giant fan of that
but that
but there wasn't like that many
no
you know right
me and him
were in bands from back then
you know
we're a little bit older
I was in a band
called King Conquer
and he was in a band called Float Face Down.
We were on tour in 2009, 2010,
and signed to a bad record label that...
We're not going to mention that.
Yeah.
Well, there it is. There's King Conquer.
Right there.
You guys are on Google. That's sick, man.
You guys are on Google.
What's crazy is it's very...
silly. In high school,
King Conquer was like the big Florida
death court band for like ever.
That was like the death core band from
Florida. So like I remember being in like
engineering class in like 10th grade
and being like, oh, King Conquer just put out a new
album. You know what I mean? And like
Yeah, we toured a lot back
than the day. Same with
Float. I saw Float face down
with King Conquer, I believe.
I saw them with Aegean. It's another old name.
And that's kind of how like
all of us
kind of joined the band together
because the band, Body Sounder put out an EP
and then they did a full length that I produced
and I wasn't, none of us three were in the band
at the time.
So there was like 2017.
I think so.
They recorded the record.
And then they put out the album Death of Me
at the end of 2017.
And then right after that,
we all joined because like they, I mean,
I don't really know the whole story.
Big lineup change.
They did a big tour, like a longer tour,
and then they had a massive lineup change.
And then him and the one guitar player that was left,
we're like, hey, we want to put out a song
so that people know the band's not done.
And I was like, oh, I'll write the drums for it.
And I already produced the band.
So I was like, I had stopped touring
because I was only doing the studio thing.
And then, yeah.
And KC, I think, was done at that point.
They stopped at like 2015.
I think was the last tour.
So there was that.
And then he was like,
do you guys still have a drummer?
We're like, no, we're kind of like rebuilding now.
I was like, oh, I'd play drums.
And I was like, oh, I love King Conker.
So I freaked out.
And he was like, well, do I have to like learn any of these songs?
I was like, dude, I've literally seen King Conker play.
Like, if you want to do it, then that's, you're good.
And it was funny.
Like I said, I was also a big fan of his old band as well.
and I think it was a couple months prior to the two body snatcher kind of going through the big lineup change
but what had happened was their singer from his old band had passed away
so they had decided that they were going to play one last final show it was uh it was like
float face down like this is never going to happen ever again so um he had messaged me on
facebook and was like hey would you want to come and fly to new jersey and sing for fly
for a couple songs or whatever.
And I was like, of course, like, yeah, of course.
I would love to do that.
It's crazy.
It was like a band I'd listened to for years.
So I agreed to that, and I flew up there.
I learned a couple songs, and they played with some older bands as well, like from that time.
Like, those are the Merciless Concept.
Existence.
There's a couple bands that were, like, from the MySpace time that had kind of like,
they were like, okay, we're going to play a show.
So we did the float face down set
And then, you know, we were kind of talking
And he was like, yeah, you know, like
Obviously the band had broken up a couple years ago
Because I think you guys broke up like
I think it was like 2014
Okay, so they had broken up a while ago
And so with obviously the singer passing away
It was like, yeah, this is like done, done
You know what I mean?
Like that's that's there's no, it was his band
You know what I mean?
So it was like it was kind of at that point
And Rich didn't really want to do it anymore
I don't think.
So it was like one of those things where it was like
that was like, that was the nail
in the coffin for that band.
So it was like, we were talking and he's like, you know,
it sucks.
Not touring anymore.
I'm just like a normal guy now.
It sucks.
And then like a couple months later,
that whole thing happened.
Like Chris had joined, I think, at that point.
Like he had been like, yeah, I'll join or whatever.
And within that week, like literally within that week.
Because this all happened within like a week span.
Yeah, it was crazy.
I'm figuring it all out.
Like we had like,
Like at this point, like when this happened, I was like, well, I want to pick up people to have like a resume of like things behind them.
And me and him toured.
Me and him toured together.
Like our old band's toured like 2011, 2012.
So I was like, dude, we just definitely get him to play bass.
You know, and then me and him played in a band together called Dealey Plaza for a little bit.
And we played shows with Beacons as well.
And his old band Beacon.
So basically once we got like this formation.
together we we had members from bands that were like actively touring for years right so going on tour
with us four is just like the easiest thing in the world because now we had members that were used to
touring members that we knew weren't going to like get burnt out on it and members that were in bands
that all of us liked from each other so it's like the first record that we wrote we did well actually
we did a re-release of death of me and there's like five new songs on it me and him wrote those
songs and had it recorded and Masters sent in in six days.
Yeah, we literally, dude, it was literally, like the whole process was so quick.
It literally, well, what had happened was it was literally like, okay, all these people
are quitting.
And then I literally was like, within two days, I was like, okay, well, Chris is on board.
And then I remember I texted him.
And I was like, hey, man, remember how we were talking about that?
Well, now here's your chance.
Like, we have a tour with Ingested in a month and a half if you want to do it.
And he texted me back and he was like, I'll do it.
and we'll see if I join or whatever
and then halfway through that he was like
quit his job instantly
because he's guy to do it
he's from New Jersey so like we're from
Florida he was like fuck it you know
New Jersey? Yeah oh shit
yeah so like he like for the first
like three or four years he was in the band
he flew to Florida before every tour
he moved to Florida this past year
yep dude that's awesome
man it's quit quit your job and that's a
that's a major move to do
especially for a band at the time
you know, we didn't know if the band was going to take legs fully or not.
You know what I mean?
Like we all just kind of were just like, well, now we know we like all the members.
Now we know we can write music really well together.
Let's just fucking put our foot to the floor and start fucking moving, you know.
Yeah.
And then so we released those five, like the re-release of Death of Me with the songs that we wrote on it as well.
And instantly we started writing this heavy void, which was the first full-length with all four of us.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Right before.
Yeah.
We did a...
That was really that long ago already.
That album release was like, for a lot of people, I think that helped us a lot because the album
released tour for that was the last tour.
A lot of people got to see before shutdowns because it ended like the first week of March.
Oh, yeah.
Two weeks later, everything shut down.
I mean, I feel like we literally got home and then like two days later, everybody was like,
all right, toys are done.
Shows were getting canceled as we were finishing tour.
You know what I mean?
And so like, yeah, let's fucking finish his tour.
Yeah.
Everybody shut up when it finishes them.
Yeah, we didn't even really know what was going on at like near, near the end of that.
Yeah, we were like, yeah.
Yeah, it was weird.
Yeah, we were like, all right, well, we'll be back at it in six months.
And then two years later, we were like, all right, this is bullshit.
Not even.
All right, I mean, I'm sure you heard the same thing from managers and stuff.
But like, we were like, oh, we'll be home for a couple months.
Like, sick.
And then they were like, oh, it's probably going to be a couple more months.
and we're like, all right, we could be home for like four months.
And then they're like, all right, guys, it's going to be a while.
And then we're just like, let's start writing music.
And then we started just putting out singles.
And we just kept releasing music over COVID.
And that helped a band tremendously.
Yeah, we were able to utilize it.
And I think the mistake that a lot of bands had made during that time was a lot of them just kind of like press the pause button.
And they didn't resume at all.
They were just like, all right.
All right, well, we're just going to stop.
And then, like, a lot of people were like,
oh, I wonder what happened to this band.
And it's like, you know, like, you got to kind of keep going
or you're just going to get lost in the...
Yeah, it's good.
Loss in the times.
Yeah, you're right.
You had bands like you guys were killing it.
And then you had, you know, jaded bands, I won't say me.
And then he's, well, hey, let's just do nothing as wait.
A bunch of idiots.
Oh.
Well, like, nobody knew what the right move was.
You know what I mean?
Nobody, nobody knew.
Because, like, a lot of people, they were afraid to put out music.
because they couldn't tour on it.
You know what I mean?
Which, like, is also not an incorrect mindset, in my opinion.
But, like, I don't know, how we kind of felt about it was, like, let's put out singles and not have them be on a record.
You know what I mean?
Let's just put out singles.
So that's what we did.
Is that how you guys came up with King of the Rats?
Yeah.
Yeah, that was one of those songs.
See, that's fucking nuts.
You know what's crazy about that song?
Sorry.
I know, I kind of cut you off.
Oh, come on.
He was down in Florida because we're 50.
We were filming a music video for Break the Cycle, which was another COVID song.
That was the first one, I think.
And we filmed a music video for that, and he was about to get, I was about to take him back to the airport to fly back to Jersey.
We like 45 minutes to kill and we're like, fuck it, let's just write an ignorant song.
We wrote that song in like 45 minutes.
Wow.
Just like in the studio, we're just like, let's just write a really stupid buildup song that has lots of heavy parts.
Are you serious?
Yeah, it took us like no time.
at all it was. We were like, we haven't written a song that's just like, just mindless caveman
ignorant lyrics in a while. So we just literally like wrote it and then just did it. Most of our
songs are like super meaningful lyrics that are, you know what I mean? They're always like stuff
that that has to do with real life experiences. Life lessons. And like we're like, let's just
write ass beater one time just because, you know what I mean? And we did it. In the beginning part,
like the what's up bitch thing, I literally just did that as a joke and we're all laughing about
it. And they were like, just leave it.
see what happens.
It's cool.
And now it's like,
and now it's like the TikTok thing.
It's like crazy.
The whole crowd, dude.
Yeah,
it's crazy.
Like, it's crazy.
Like,
we'll play in front of like,
and this is even like when we're on like support stuff or like,
especially the headliner stuff like the whole crowd will do it.
But like even when we're on like support tours,
it's like,
dude,
so many people.
It's like,
holy shit.
It's just so funny how like the things you spend like
months trying to write and you're like,
this is it.
And then like you spend.
No one.
45 minutes writing something that you just think is comical.
And it's everywhere.
Yeah, exactly.
My goodness.
But it always happens that way.
Yeah.
It's, you don't, you don't get to decide what catches fire and what doesn't, you know.
You don't.
I mean, once it's out there, I mean, you don't really know how people are going to, like, react to it.
You don't.
Oh, yeah.
You know?
So I'd spend, like, five seconds writing a song, you know?
So it was written in 45 minutes and you were in a studio, so you tracked it that day?
Yeah, so, like, because I have a studio.
I run a studio and we were just like writing it with middy drums and we were like,
oh, let's just fucking write some heavy-ass song, you know what I mean?
And then so me and him were writing it.
And then we basically had the whole entire skeleton of the song done.
And he's good at recording too.
So I just sent him the session and he kind of like reworked the guitar parts.
And then we sent the song to him and he wrote lyrics.
And then he came like a week.
and we did vocals and yeah within like a week we were done yeah that is and then we did a music
video not too long yeah we did music video like instantly yep when you uh um okay i knew this
something happening who to call who uh kyle kyle i'm i'm just gonna point yeah yeah uh so so when you
when you heard like like the rough draft i mean what and what did you think and feel about it um
When I heard the original one, I was like, this is a fucking ass-beater.
But I like to just rework stuff how I would prefer it to be played because I'm going to be the one playing it, you know?
So same thing with him, whenever I send him like MIDI drums of stuff that's not even possible to play.
Yeah, I'll always re-work it.
And then he'll switch it to stuff that he wants it to be and just little stuff like that.
But I remember I didn't really change that much about it.
I added a few like pinches here and there and like just,
little things that I can't even really remember, but I know I changed a couple things, but
yeah.
Yeah.
It didn't really change much.
That's kind of like how everything goes, though, with us.
Like, I mean, we all like tweak things a little bit.
Like, he'll send me lyrics sometimes, like, because we all pretty much write songs and
stuff.
Every person is a band writer.
Sometimes he'll text me, like, hey, I wrote this song.
Like, what do you think?
And then I'll be like, ah, you probably should say this instead of that.
And then he's like, oh, that's a way better way to phrase that, or vice versa.
Yeah, but you should say like this or say this or whatever.
know what I mean.
So like we'll like we'll come up with a lot of times I'll come up with like certain vocal
patterns and then he'll track it a different way and I'm like sick.
You know what I mean?
So it's like everyone, every all four of us are like really really open to constructive criticism.
But all of us are like all of us have been like songwriters in the genre.
So it's like I don't know it all kind of works out for us.
And like if I'm writing stuff I can send him a project because none of us.
because none of us live close to each other.
We're all like three hours away.
So we just kind of...
Oh, shit, really?
We kind of send logic projects back and forth and stuff
and just kind of like work songs out.
And that's how we write most of our stuff.
So you send back and forth logic projects.
And then that's probably how you got that song.
Yeah.
And so you're like recording stuff over that, we're tweaking.
And then you send a logic file back.
Yep.
And then like...
What?
So like if we're writing a...
If we're writing an album, we do like an album's where the songs like that,
like he'll write like a bunch of songs and then like he'll send stuff to me and i'll kind of like rework some drums or like
like hey this transition could do this or like i'll i'll like write drums a certain way for a transition
like mouth something out for him and then he'll recreate it on guitar and then once we have something
where we really feel like all right the song's done then we all get together in the studio we'll find
a time we'll find time to get together together and then we kind of rework all the transitions of parts and
stuff like that and then track final guitars and stuff you guys are nuts and we track drums
last it goes like way too smooth too yeah it's really sick it's it's just weird how easy it is
and then by the time with us specifically yeah like we just work really well together by the time it's
like time for me to track drums i've already heard i've i've written the midi drums you know what
mean, we've recorded final guitars to the MIDI drums.
We've recorded vocals to the MIDI drums.
And then by the time, it's time for me to actually track drums.
I've heard the song so many times.
Like the last record...
It's like one take, two takes.
Done.
Yeah.
Well, like, so last record, we tracked drums at the audio compound in Orlando with Neil Westfall.
And I was like, hey, can you guys put a MIDI screen in front of me so I could watch
the MIDI scroll and I literally just
played guitar hero basically and watched
the MIDI scroll and tracked the drums I tracked
the 13 songs and less than two days
yeah yeah yeah you were looking at
MIDI I was just watching the MIDI scroll on the screen
just like Brock band and that was helping you
oh yeah yeah you were getting you're like I'm in his own right now
yeah it's sick it's just like play like because I'm so used to seeing
MIDI like in the studio you know what I mean
to like I know exactly what key notes are what drum
and I'm just like ripping it
Yeah. Okay.
It's just a spot right here?
Yes.
Yeah.
That's a nice. That's a really nice studio.
That drum room is...
Are you guys from nickel back? What's up, dude?
Jeez, Louise.
Dude, honestly, Neil, he plays guitar in a day to remember.
He actually hit me up because I was like...
It's a really nice spot.
Yeah, it's awesome.
The smaller drum room is the one that I tracked in.
It sounds crazy good.
Like they have like a lifted drum riser
So there's like resonance underneath it
Last jeez
Sounds so good
But yeah he hit me up like
When he saw that like we were tracking some of stuff
And he's like hey did you guys track drums yet?
And I was like
No he's like you want to come
Track it with me at the studio and like
And I'm not going to say how much he charged us
But it wasn't anything
What we were expecting to pay
And he just basically he's like
I just really want to do it
I just really want to work with you guys
And I was like
And then we became really good friends
friends and you know we tracked it there and now talk all time and he's cool ass dude and yeah it's
it's badass yeah but yeah that drum room i got to say i got a sample pack coming out that i
recorded in that drum room but it's it's fire the drum room sounds so good yeah it's kind of something
you learn the hard way with like heavy music it tends like those really small rooms get like the
sickest tones dude it's crazy yeah it literally sounded so good we learned we learn the hard way it's like
well, we tracked this big-ass room,
then you just hear it back at like,
I wish we just fucking went in a small room.
You get,
you just something about it.
The room was like,
it was still fairly big.
That's the big one.
Yeah, that shit.
That room sounds very good too, though.
Yeah, it's Andrew Wade's studio.
That's the,
that's auto compound.
Okay.
But there's a couple different rooms in it.
But yeah,
it's,
it's really sick.
It sounds great.
When you guys are sick, man.
You guys,
I mean,
it's funny because I've been like going back and forth.
inside my own mind like you know thinking like going back like midi stuff and like uh getting like
like like a little e kit because my ears were fucking trashed yeah i'm fucking fucked and then like i'm hearing all
all these great bands writing these sick-ass songs and 45 minutes on midi-drums i'm like dude it's just like
it helps you i feel like it helps you write you know what i mean and like you don't you don't keep the
midi drums on the track but while you're writing it's it's such a good tool you know it's really it's
really good and it helps me write drum parts that I probably wouldn't be playing
if I was just sitting in front of my kit like I can like you know put put the grid and
triplet feel and just kind of like do things like I did it did it did it did it you know like
like something like something yeah like something yeah same because I don't even know how to
play drums but I know how to do MIDI drums yeah he's a good computer yeah and he actually
writes great drum parts and he's not he doesn't even know how to play drums yeah wow yeah
Do you play drums?
I wish.
I like playing the drums, but I'm not good at it.
I can blast with my right hand, that's it.
Hey, it counts.
We play mini drums, it counts.
All right, I'm a drum.
I'm a drum.
I could do one, two, being like a blast.
Yeah.
I got a sick blast, Chris, I'm telling you this.
You know, we haven't, I don't think we ever even talked about this ever.
but you guys just started talking about the midi stuff we we fucked around with like midi like
with the black crown stuff and like uh yolo was written on like it's no no thinking is fucking
oh there's two likes the midian drums oh mark had that riff that fucking bann bachabang bukabang
yeah like it's cool i mean and then we fucking put like some breakdowns over it yeah and then
it's all dude it's so weird how that works the best shit is the easiest stuff to but it's like
it's it comes out the best because there's no effort in it it's just like like it's just like
like it's just coming you know what I mean that the creativeness is literally just falling out onto the
table and that's yeah it seems like it's easy and that's what I don't know I tell a lot of people this
that you know a lot of people like oh that music's so easy to play like everyone can no everyone can
play a breakdown yeah most people can play a breakdown but a lot of people cannot write a breakdown
that sticks in your head and that's catchy and 100 you know anybody yeah anybody that can
play an instrument could probably play it but
But you can't, most people can't fucking write it and make it come off the way it comes off
and having that transition before it and making it hit the way it hits.
The delivery.
Yeah.
So it's like, that's what, I mean, a lot of, a lot of, a lot of people don't get that.
You know what I mean?
It has to have an impact.
You can't just have 20 billion breakdowns and expect it to stick.
Yeah, there's got to be a reason why it's heavy.
You know what I mean?
It's all about that delivery into it, that transition that comes before.
Yeah, and that's kind of like the thing that always, like,
struggle with, not struggle, but it's like, you know, it, like you could write a song quickly,
but then it sticks with you and it has that impact that, that, that took no time.
It kind of like, it just doesn't, I try not talk like this, but you don't know why, you know what I mean?
It comes out of nowhere.
Like it comes either from, from your soul or your heart where you believe in God or we're not.
It's kind of like, it's like, what do it?
No, I agree.
Like, where did that pattern come from?
Yep.
It's like, they just fucking fall out of the sky.
And then now, now you look, a year later, it's on fucking take.
TikTok, you know, it's like, whoa.
Like, you know, it's fucking nuts.
Yeah.
Anytime that shit happens, you don't know how it happens.
It just fucking happens.
You know, it's just like, and you feel it when it's happening.
You're just like, whoa, this is crazy.
Yeah.
There's like, yeah, there's no better feeling than writing something with another person
and just, I don't even know how to explain it, but there's just that feeling when
you know something is working and it's just like coming so easily.
Yeah.
When there's a part in our song 1217.
that's like a
I don't even know how to explain it
it's like a there's a time change in it
but it hits in a way
that
I don't even know I don't know
but while we were writing it
yeah I don't know if we can hear that or not
but
there's a part
That's my parents' house
That is his parents' house
Yeah, it's fucking sick
So there's like a part
I don't know maybe like a minute in or something
This is a stump
The stump beat?
Yeah that's probably good
Hold on a little.
Whoops.
Whoa.
Scared me.
Oh yeah.
So I rewind it just a tiny bit, just a tiny bit.
There we go.
All right, so there's this da da da da da.
A little more, a little more.
Ronded a little more.
Here we go.
So we took that same da-da-da-da-da.
Slowed it down.
Nice.
But it's so simple, but it just hits right here.
There's a mosh call out.
Come on.
And then we took that same da-na-na-na-na-na-a.
But then put it in that same pattern, put it in a trot.
chugs.
Yeah.
And it's just like,
but like a lot of people don't realize that there's,
that there's a reason for those chugs.
You know what I mean?
It's like everything's,
everything has a reason.
So it's that da-da-da-da-da-da-da.
And then it goes,
do-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da.
And then we take that and put it into chugs.
And so,
but so it makes your brain like it,
but nobody knows why it likes it.
You know what I mean?
But it's because it's because there's a,
there's relation to every part,
even though it's a different part.
It's relation to the previous part.
Yeah, but it sounds like, you know, Body Snatcher is, uh, it's truly like you guys.
Yeah.
So that, that's what fascinates me about all these bands do you like is that there's,
that there's a reason why these bands are they are.
It's, it's you.
Yeah.
Yeah, for sure.
Yeah, for sure.
You know, we're not, you know, we're not idiots.
I always make fun of myself, I'm a fucking idiot.
But, you know, I mean, where, there's this, like, there's so much, like, intention
be behind all, all these parts and, like, done, and, like, knowing how to build
something up that makes people
react in such a primal way you do that's like
intelligent caveman
yeah exactly
intelligent caveman music we're all smart
caveman intentional yeah
those are the best parts that
that like caveman
primal
set things on fire
blow shit up
okay uh blow shit up
okay I'm struggling with this
first of all why you guys need nicknames
we kind of do
we call everyone by last name
name okay so we do Medina Carter and Schope okay and then everyone calls me
everyone calls me Chris okay okay now we need one common name that that's a rare
time where Chris works yeah yeah I know there's that there's always another one
today there's another Chris okay yeah Chris is the only one that actually has a
nickname pooter yeah I had that name when I was a kid up until today because
because I think farts are really funny I'm part
up until today
you're no longer going by pooter
today I quit farting
never again
that's it
I think it's impossible to
to quit farting
oh yeah definitely
that's also our secret
to like keeping a band together
wow
so everyone's like oh we get an argument
so like dude if you get an argument
I just like have somebody fart
and then everyone laughs
and it's okay
it's all fucking serious
yeah it's the tension
relief immediately
but like
But our van...
Emotionally.
Our van doesn't ever get to a point where there's, like, crazy, long, heated arguments
because there's always so many farts.
Is this by like, like, it's short, like you, like, you know, fuck you?
Not even.
Honestly, that doesn't really happen either.
Like, if something happens and somebody disagrees with something, we try to, we try to be like,
hey, dude, I don't like, I don't like the way that that came off and we all talk about it,
like, adults.
And then we're like, cool, I'm sorry.
It's usually a two-minute conversation and that's it.
Yeah, and then we're done.
There's never been, we've never had a heated like, fuck you, like argument ever.
Yeah.
Yeah.
No.
You guys have some pretty crazy chemistry.
Because, I mean, you guys, you guys have all, all of you have been in a scene for, I mean, years.
Yeah.
But then you guys just have what with each other.
You can't force that chemistry.
Yeah.
But it's the fact that you guys all naturally have this chemistry.
So it's pretty cool.
I think another thing that helped out was when he joined and then when he came into mind, it was like, they had already toured.
together before so they already knew each other for years
and then me and me and Kyle Carter
our bands played
weekenders together and like we already knew
each other so it was like you know what I mean
it was one of those things where it was like... We kind of knew that we were like
compatible with one of the money and also
like the cool thing about like when you have
to kind of build a band
from the ground up like that again it's
like you you pick people that you
want to get a I guess
not that you don't get along with the other people
but it's like you want to pick people that you're like
all right I don't want this to happen ever again
Yeah, and you also just have to, like, try to have, like, a calm adult mindset.
You know what I mean?
Every person in the world is different.
Every person in the world deals with things differently.
And all you have to do is learn those people, learn the people you surround yourself with, and be, what is the word?
Like, yeah, just be understanding to what type of person they are and learn each other.
You know what I mean?
And once you learn each other, and you can, you deal with.
You deal with things in a much better way.
We're constantly learning and growing as human beings.
Yeah, yeah, exactly.
Dude, you guys, body standards, needs a book.
Yes, Jesus.
Inspirational quotes.
Heavy's book of all time, come on.
Inspirational words.
We're thinking about writing a cook, but, yeah, I was going to say that.
Well, he's a good cook.
He's very good at cooking.
So is Carter.
Carter is really good.
How are you?
I've had some dinners at Kyle Shope's house for, for sure.
I've definitely had seconds before.
You've had seconds.
I've definitely ate the food and been like, I'm going to have more.
What are we cooking up?
Indian food.
Yeah, a lot of Indian food.
We all love Indian food, yeah.
Yeah, because you guys try to find a spot in every town, right?
We tried to, yeah.
Pretty much, yeah.
We haven't eaten Indian food on this tour at all.
We haven't had any time.
I haven't had Indian food since before I left for tour.
We haven't even really had fast food on this tour.
We've been so strapped for time on this tour.
Like, it's, uh, it's been, uh, it's been really hard to find cool food.
We've been a gas station.
We don't eat food because we're machines.
We, we, we thrive on nothing.
Drive on nothing.
That is, that is a little packed.
I've eaten a couple crackers.
My crackers and cheese.
My muscles get small if I don't eat food.
Chris orders too much food.
Yeah, everybody.
And he gets mad at himself.
Yeah, I'm like, all right, tomorrow's the day.
I'm going to start eating better again.
He goes, all right, guys, I'm going to have one cheese burger and that it's two fish fill.
isn't a big man.
God damn.
I've been on my,
I've been on my whole life.
Tomorrow's a day.
Like,
37 years later,
no.
When I'm home,
when I'm home,
it's like,
I'll be all right when I'm home.
But like,
on tour,
I'm like,
ah,
I accidentally bought four hot dogs.
Wasn't it like six the other day?
Oh,
yeah.
Six chili dogs?
Yeah,
I had six chili dogs.
Yeah.
What is six fucking chili dogs?
I got with a goatee.
That's because he had a goateeat.
I lost a bet.
That's why you're 14
So
Well he does it on purpose
He couldn't be that
I told the guys
Like over a year ago
I was like
I didn't I mean
We didn't think it would happen
Oh he's gonna tell the story
Yeah he's gonna tell the poop story
And I backed out of it
I backed out of it
But it was like
Still like a year and a half ago or something
I was like
We ever sell a thousand tickets
At a headline show
I'll poop my pants on purpose
You know
And then we did it
And then we did it
And like we're at masquerade
and they're like, so?
You're pooping your pants?
And I was like, come on, guys.
I was like, I really don't want to poop my pants.
No, no.
You made the batman.
So we made it compromise.
And I normally have a nice looking beard.
And they were like, all right, you got to shave it into a, like, a bad-looking goatee for a week.
And I had a go-teeat.
And I looked like the worst old guy in the world.
He had a go-tee for two days, and it was hilarious.
And I'm like, I'd look at myself in the mirror.
I woke up and just be like, God, damn it.
Alternate universe, Stone Cold.
That is a humbling experience.
I would see it.
That is humbling, I'm sure.
I would see it and laugh, and I didn't know why.
And I was like, oh, the goatee.
Oh, my God.
It was bad.
Hold on.
We went to sheets like twice in one day, and he got a total of six chili dogs.
That's insane.
Why stop?
I mean, why just get one or two, man?
Why six, dude?
Oh, that's bad.
That's not good, Chris
I mean
I'm the...
We got to show the world
Zoom on...
Zim...
That is so bad.
I'm 35,
but that made me look 48.
That,
dude, that gave you 15 years.
How did it do that?
Yeah, I got it.
What?
That added like 15 years, too.
That added a lot, yeah, yeah.
I mean, I'm not young, by any means,
but that made me look fucking old, dude.
So would you rather have that goatee for a week
or still shit your pants?
I think now I would have shit.
my pants. I think it would
Because like I could have just showered, you know, it would have been
Donning over with. We were gonna have to, and I
had to do VIPs like that.
You know what I mean? So like, all these people are like, who the fuck
is this old guy with the goatee?
We were gonna buy him like a full outfit
just to shit himself in and that he
could throw it away. A fucking
jumpsuit. A jumpsuit.
The orange one up, that'll be fucking sick.
My goodness. I think it
would have been funny for like two minutes and then I
probably would have smelled it gagged and been like, all right,
that's not funny. Oh my goodness.
All right, so 2000.
Let's document it.
And you'll promise us right now.
How about you poop your pants at 2000?
No.
He doesn't...
Because I don't do that.
You do that.
Neither do I.
Obviously.
Cinco de Mayo, Carter.
Oh, fuck.
Well, speaking of pooping, do you guys hit up any Santanas?
Oh.
We do love San Antonio.
Norman, when we go to San Diego, we'll go to Santanas.
Wow.
Is there one in Anaheim?
Is there...
Oh, a few Santanas, like, because I have a Santana in Sanctan where I'm from,
but that changed her name.
And I think a few other spots actually changed, changed her name to a Cassadidas.
Okay.
Cassiditas.
That is the main thing that we love about coming to California is just getting fucking dope-ass burritos.
Yeah, I like the hot Cheetos burrito.
I'm a, I'm a sucker for the fun burrito combinations.
I love hot Cheetos.
I love the French fries.
I can't even finish them these days.
There's like one Santanas that we go to every time we're in San Diego
Because it's like if you go to the guitar center in San Diego
It's like always on the way back to whatever
Oh yeah that's true and so there's like one it's like in this little tiny shopping plaza and it's a littleest store like it's like the littlest
Santanas and it's but it's fucking fire. It's very good it's good man and and they tend to be open 247 as well and the salsa's
Oh the coffee salsa yeah pull up there we go
Top left.
That logo.
Yep, get fucked.
Oh, so good.
Dude, you guys should do a Santhanas Rift.
Yeah, let's do it, then.
Okay.
Okay.
Sanana's rip.
California exclusive, dude.
You'd sell like 600 of those shirts.
Dude, that place almost killed me.
Really?
What happened?
We've been to that one.
Do you poop your pants?
Oh, pre-Mitch when I got fat.
Because I was synchrano.
Yeah.
And I'll always get, I'll get, me and my friends get blacked out of trunk.
We'd go there all the time.
It's been like fucking 2 a.m.
Yeah.
Just get burritos, whatever they had.
The five pound burritos.
And my faith was fucking, it was like.
I got fat for a good.
I bet you were happy, though.
I was depressed.
Oh, yeah.
Oh.
I feel that, dude.
But I mean, I taste really good.
Oh, look at that, motherfucker.
Oh, it looks so good.
Hey, that makes me happy, though.
Oh, my goodness.
It looks so good.
That's the spot, dude.
That's the spot.
All right, I want it now.
We are all horned up right now.
We're bricked up right now.
Full mast.
We love food.
We're definitely a food band.
I love, I love, I love, I love, I'm also a sucker for like, I like sheets a lot.
I'm not a big Wawa guy.
I live a block, well, I did live a block away from Wawa, not a Wawa guy.
It's been ruined for me.
We're spoiled on, we have like the only Del Taco on the East Coast and the town.
We live in.
You serious?
I'm going to say a controversial thing.
Don't say it.
Don't say it.
I think it sucks.
Oh my God.
See,
you're in California,
dude.
I like Del Taco.
The strawberry shakes?
You don't have one.
Big fan.
I don't have one, no.
So whenever I get to eat Del Taco, I'm like, cool.
Maybe it's the way that it's prepared because they see, they see me and they go,
oh, I'm going to make this with hatred.
The Beyond Meat tacos are cool.
Great.
The fish tacos are good.
Mm.
I wasn't a fan of anything else on the man.
Dude, it just every time I get it,
every time I'm handed Del Taco,
I'm like, wow, I'm excited.
And then I unwrap it, and I'm like,
oh, this person hates me.
Of course.
You know?
And then it's just, I don't know.
It's just not a good experience.
And I hate Taco Bell.
Sorry, everybody.
Hate Taco Bell too.
Taco Bell's better.
I think Taco Bell's better than Del Taco.
Fuck you.
What are we doing right now, man?
I love Taco Bell.
I'll change the subject because it's going to get heated in here.
This Paul is going so good.
It's got a fucking big, a big,
Gosh, the controversial food topics of my food takes.
I do love Santanas though.
Let's not get on any more food topics.
I was curious, do you sit at home and think of how to have the perfect Mosh call-out?
Or is this?
That's a good question.
On the fly?
It comes on the fly about 15 seconds before.
That's insane.
Because I'll be like muscle memory singing and then I'll be like, huh, what's funny?
And then I'll think of like three sentences and I'll pick one within that like, like,
like 30 seconds and then I'll just say. We never know
and then he'll like say something stupid like
fucking I don't even know what you
the other day you were like
I said all the water burgers
closed yeah yeah we're in Texas he's like
acting like all the water burgers just closed and I was like
what the fuck?
I said Buckees is closing
for good
so come on
it's gone
I didn't even know he said that
yeah
the kid in the middle was like
yeah we never know what he's gonna say
like some nights it'll be like
completely serious night and he'll have like
really important things to say you know what I mean
and then some nights will just be like right before
a heavy party he'll just say something and I'm like
what the fuck you say?
Dude those
did you say the most brutal shit and apparently
it comes from your soul
wow yeah sometimes
in between songs he'll be like
check out what I'm about to say
and I'll just be waiting for it
sometimes I'll look at him
and I'll mouth it to him and like just wait
just wait for it
Wow.
Or like sometimes like
We have a lot of little moments like that.
We like look at each other.
We'll be like,
turn,
rape that guy.
Like,
our sound guy will like talk to us
in our ears.
Like, like, because he's got like,
he's got a direct line
in our ears.
And like sometimes he'll be like,
do you guys fucking see that?
Like in between songs and we're like,
like last night I was on the microphone.
I responded to him like,
yeah.
So it just like comes out through the mains
but nobody knows why I'm saying.
Oh, yeah.
That's fucking ridiculous.
Last night he was like,
pretty fucking hot in here, huh?
It's like super loud.
Medina was like, yeah.
Yeah.
Sure is.
Oh, yeah, that's what you said.
So do you like say it and then you actually see,
you like looked at at the, like, someone's like reaction?
Oh, all the time.
It's hilarious.
I love watching people in the front.
I love watching the jaw drop.
That's my favorite is when we hit a fat breakdown and they go,
ugh.
That's my favorite.
If you, if you, if you, if you, if you, if you, if you, if you, if you, if you, if you, if you, if you, if you, if you, if you, if you, if you, if you, it's so.
Like, like, a year, like, a month or so.
And, like, first night, you, that first 808 hits on a heavy part, you just, like, feel the stage vibrate and everyone's face is just like, what the fuck?
You're just like, yes.
It's the adrenaline just, like, pumping.
And you're just like, muscles.
It's like, man, we fucking wrote this song.
Do you guys...
Do you guys...
Sick.
We go back and forth.
You do?
Have you ever had click in your ears live or just a drummer?
Oh.
Really?
We have wedges.
Yeah, okay.
I need ear plugs.
Yeah.
There's this crazy fucking thing that happens when your adrenaline starts pumping and you do have the click in your ears and your adrenaline's pumping so hard it feels like you're playing in slow motion.
Like it feels like the click is going...
I hate it so much.
Click, click, click, click, and you're like, you're like, there's something wrong.
Yeah.
There's something wrong.
And then you listen back to a video later.
It's completely normal.
It's just your adrenaline fucking with you super hard.
Oh, it's weird, huh?
Because as you as a drummer, you have to stay on tempo, but you have like the blood flowing.
So it's like, you're just like pumped up slow, right?
And it's like, even though it's like your normal tempo, it's like your brain plays a trick on you.
And it's so weird, dude.
Yeah, I feel like I have to headbang in slowmo.
And it feels so weird.
You have time to think.
Yeah, because all of us, all of us have click on our ears.
And so it's like all of us feel the same thing.
There'll be like certain nights and we're like, that felt so slow.
And then we listened back to a video and it's like completely normal.
Oh yeah.
Like we, the first couple days when we were playing like some of the songs we had never played before,
it was like we were like, oh, did we just completely, did we just, did we just toss that out the window?
And then we like listen to it back.
We like, oh shit, we played that pretty good action.
Hey, sounds fine.
There'd be sometimes where I was like, we're like mid playing and I'm like, this is wrong, this is wrong, this is wrong, this is wrong, okay, thank you, thank you.
And then like, you know, like two hours later we'd hear it like on a video and we'd be like, we ripped it.
It's just, it's the adrenaline.
And like you'll play songs that like, I don't know, even songs that you played a million times and like you have the time, like you have time to think.
And we'll like, I'll be like banging to this breakdown and I'll be like, wow, it feels like it's really going on for a while.
and then I'm like you know you watch it back and you're like
what the fuck was I think okay
we're playing it completely normal that's just weird man
you feel like you're uh I don't know you feel like that's superhuman
that's crazy what adrenaline does yeah it's super how minute
adrenaline is wild it's like oh man I'm cool cool for once man
I like him fucking life geez my wheeves dude
and uh you you came up very interesting in a very
interesting way.
So your dad listened to Hey Breed.
Yes.
And that's how you really got into like.
Yes.
So you went straight in, dude.
Yeah.
So like what happened was like my dad doesn't like hay breed and throw down and like bands like that.
And like being young, you're like, whoa, this is cool.
And then you like you go, you turn into like a, you know, like a teenager or whatever you find like whatever bands you're going to find.
And you're like, eh, I don't know how I'm feeling about this like old guy shit now.
and then you go back to it later and you're like, whoa, like, I'm thankful as hell for that.
Because, like, I love hate breed.
I love bands like that, throw down, sworn enemy, all that stuff.
But it's like, yeah, I literally, he introduced me to it very young.
So I kind of, like, had an ear for it at a young age.
And then I discovered, like, what Headbanger's Ball was through him, obviously.
And then I was, like, I discovered all these, like, metal core bands, which, like, I knew who, like, Kill Switch and Gage was,
just through like my own,
what would you say?
Like, just like your own seeking out things.
Like, you know, you just hear, like, hear things.
You're like, oh, like things that I might like or whatever.
So I, like, discovered that through that.
And then, like, through headbangers ball is when I started seeing, like,
bands with like breakdown break.
Like, I mean, obviously, like, hey breed and those bands have breakdowns.
But it's like one of those things when you hear it.
Like, and that style, I think, you're like, whoa, like it registered more,
at least to my young mind where I was like, whoa, those are breakdowns.
So I, like, went down that rap.
it hole. And then I didn't have a thought that like local music existed. Like when I saw these
bands on like Headbangers Ball and stuff, I had no clue that there was like a local scene for
this. And I actually, our TM, I went to shows with him very early on when I was like a young
teen or whatever. He's a little older than me. But I remember I, as soon as I transitioned into
high school, I went from like scene music, like metalcore music to like, dude, like,
Like I entered high school, like ninth grade, and it was like suicide silence, Whitechapel, all these old MySpace deathcore bands.
And then I discovered what like local shows were.
And so I went to local shows and I was like, oh my God.
Like this, there's all this stuff.
Like all this like this shit exists on a smaller level.
And that was what like kind of like propelled me into that where I was like, oh my gosh.
And then I started like looking at like total death core back in the day and like all those block spots.
And then I just went down the rabbit hole of all that stuff.
But yeah, it's definitely my dad definitely huge part of that.
Like, you know, like, it's crazy how, like, something like that can completely change your fucking life.
Yeah.
Like, completely change my life, dude.
That's dope.
Yeah.
And what, like, what a trip for, for you guys were, like, you're a kid and you hear Hapri from your dad and then you fast forward and you tour with Hapry.
One of their most important tours in their career.
Oh, dude.
I literally called him when we took the tour.
like, are you sitting down right now?
And he's like, I mean, yeah.
I was like, you might want to stand up because you're going to shoot up.
So I told him and he freaked out.
And this is crazy, man.
So crazy.
It's like every interview we've ever done, you know what I mean?
Like people always ask you like, what band you want to tour with every single time where I was like, hey, breed.
You know what I mean?
And then it's just like, it just happened.
It's crazy.
It's one of those things where it's kind of unbelievable, dude.
Like, I look at that and I'm like, you know, that is your band logo right there.
It's crazy.
never know you guys did it man that's sick they're like those dudes are some of the most humble
cool dudes we have ever toured with out of any band you know what i mean like they were just like
so supportive frank would watch us play every night you know what i mean it's just like none of them
had like dude it's fucking hate breed you know what i mean like none of them had an ego none of them
and it was so sick like if they're you know i don't know it's just awesome matt was cool as fuck
dude, he would strike his kit sometimes, and I'm like, what the fuck you doing?
It's like, 30 feet in front of the drum racer right now.
And he's like, I don't care.
And I'm like, what, dude?
Yeah, that blew all of our minds.
Like those huge stages, he would just take his kit off.
Yeah, I'm like, why?
I want everyone to play on the ride.
I was like, okay.
What?
It's just crazy, dude.
Like, it's like unbelievable shit because it's like,
best dude.
You see Jamie Jostah and you're like, I saw your face on fucking MTV, dude.
And then my first day at tour, he walks up, he goes, hey, nice to me.
you and I'm like,
ah,
this is so weird.
And then, like,
you know,
like I go to the flea market.
It's interesting is that there's a flea market by our house,
and there's a lot of, like,
obviously, like,
if you go to a flea market,
there's stalls and,
you know,
like you're going to find a random,
different accoutrements,
whatever.
And so there's a vinyl store there,
and it's got,
like, metal and hardcore and stuff.
And I've seen it before,
and I was like,
oh, like, you know,
this is cool, whatever.
And, like,
I remember I was in there,
this was before,
we left for tour and I'm like looking through records there's a dying fetus record there's a
terror record and I'm like whoa okay I don't know who this is here because there's not there's a
scene where we're from but we come from kind of like a smaller town at least me and him because
he moved to Melbourne as well and I had heard like through the grapevine that like Florida
Frank lives 15 minutes away from me and him and I'm like you know it would be really crazy if this
had any sort of connection to this guy whatsoever and then the owner because
there's two owners for the stall.
He's like, oh, the other owner, my partner is in
Hate Breed. He plays guitar and Hate Breed. And I was like,
okay, dude. Like, that's a pretty far-fetched thing to claim.
So I bought these records, whatever.
And as I'm walking out, he walks in. And I'm like,
hey, my band's going on a tour with you, I think.
If you're Hate Breed guy, he's like, oh, yeah, I play guitar
and hatebreed. And I was like, okay.
And then second day of tour, he was our first day of tour.
He's like, oh, hey, what's up again?
And like, it's great to see you.
And I was like, mind-blown because I was like, holy shit, that guy is actually
in fucking Avery.
But he's awesome.
I actually before this tour, I went into the flea market and I messaged him.
And I was like, hey, I'm at your stall or whatever.
And then two seconds later, he pops out of nowhere.
And he's like, how are you doing?
And I'm like, this is so mind-blowing.
It's just weird, man.
It's real life, dude.
That's fucking badass.
Yeah, it's crazy, dude.
It's sick.
Very thankful.
Even thankful for this, dude.
Like, when you messaged me on Instagram, I was like, I was like, guys,
The suicide silence guy just best to feel it's here.
The suicide silence guy.
It's crazy, dude.
Thank you, man.
Yeah, no, this is very, very awesome.
We're very, thankful to be here.
It's a fucking awesome, dude.
I'm thankful for you guys to like to be here.
I feel like a broken record, but it's just, let me, I've been talking to all these.
I'm not saying like your kids, but you're like the younger bands coming up.
No matter how, I think younger will range.
For me, personally, it ranges from 20 to 35.
Yeah, yeah.
And then now, right when you leave, I'm 35.
Sorry, Chris, but now you turn into me.
Yeah.
And you're just old.
Yeah.
Because bands like you guys, why we're still around is, I mean, the heavy music scene is fucking pop.
I mean, like, you know, you guys, you know, were a huge reason why bands like us even started playing what people call death core.
You know what I mean?
Like, when I was growing up, like, I played my first show in 2002.
and you know so I was like yeah yeah I was a 14 or something like that that's sick and you know I was going to like hardcore shows and like in Florida it's like ULG record stuff and like trust kill records stuff back in the day you know yeah and so I was going to like hardcore shows and stuff and then I started listening to like some other like metal type bands and then there used to be a website called hXCMP3.com and I remember finding um all shall pair
hate mouse revenge the one album i love that record you right that was a different singer than
yeah yeah dude i remember like hearing that song deconstruction it was like death metal with fucking the
blast beats and then they actually do a build-up and i was like no way they're gonna play a breakdown
no way they're gonna play a breakdown and they played a breakdown and then ever since i heard that
song i was like this is just like combining the two of my favorite genres into one thing you know what
I mean, and I feel like a lot of bands have, like, turned the genre into something that doesn't have the hardcore aspect of it.
Oh, yeah, of course.
You know, bands like you guys and bands like, you know, the red cord and bands like, you know what I mean, like all those band dying fetus even, like, they always kept like hardcore rifts and stuff like that as like part of the genre and didn't overcomplicate or over technicalize everything.
You know, and like that was like what I really loved about the genre.
And that's kind of like what we want to try and keep doing.
Yeah, there's definitely like two different types of death core now.
Yeah, there is two different types of death core now.
I feel like a lot of the genre, like he said, it lost the aggression.
It lost like the bite to it.
And it lost like the lyrical relatability.
You know what I mean?
Like a lot of the newer bands are they're singing about like fake things or like not necessarily fake.
They're like made up concepts, which is cool.
fictional books are cool but like
what I liked about hardcore was
the emotion factor of the lyrics
you know what I mean like you can relate to something
and really like listen that song over and over again
if you had a problem in life and like that's kind of what we try
and do with our lyrics as well
even with like the more specific stuff that we talk about
it's the redcore dude
underneath the gun you remember that band
I know you remember that band
holy crap they're from around here
yeah that band was awesome man I love that band
as blood runs black
despised icon
animosity see you next Tuesday
they just put a new record out
that massacre that first video
of you guys of suicide signs
that went viral like of chain
reaction from way back in the day
oh yeah yeah that was like
a game changer in
the genre for sure like I remember people
in Florida were talking about that shit so
much and I was like what the fuck is this shit
dude you're fast with I don't know who's
Googling that but you're quick
Holy crap.
Hopefully, I could see that's
thanks Jay.
She kind of happened to quick.
The old logo.
Oh my gosh, dude.
I drew that in Mac class, dude.
What?
Yeah.
You know, we have an artist.
Shope.
We do have an artist.
He drew a shirt for the store.
Cook. Cook, artist.
Yep.
Sick piece player.
Dude, yeah, this shit was so fire back in the day.
Damn, we're about to play there, huh?
You guys are playing there tonight?
Yeah, we're playing there tonight.
I'm like the hammered there.
I can't wait.
I think did
I don't
What
Are we the only ones that have played there before?
I have never played
Oh you've never played Jim?
No I only played fucking
Cobol Cafe back in the day
Oh god
Oh my god
Go on there
His old band
Terrifying
Terrifying
Oh yeah
They're awesome
Dude
Yeah
Unreal
You'd like
I think you'd
Dig them quite a bit
They were called float face down
Rifts too
And sick ass solo
Super sick band
Dude they put out a record
That
And I try not to
Fangirl
Because he's in
he's in the band but I have immense
respect for Kyle Shope and all of you guys
in general but I loved
that band a lot. That band was fucking awesome
but they uh they
they released an album before you guys broke up that was just like
peak aggressive
death war oh my god so mean
shit was a nightmare to record
there's a oh that's the the EP
dude I remember one of Will Putton
one of Will Putney's like earliest
albums that he did. Yeah it's uh
you'll see a very young long
haired Kyle Schope in those promos.
He probably looks the exact same. He does.
Pretty much. He has not aged. He's an ageless
android. There he is. Boom.
That's like, how many
years ago is that? It was like 12 years
ago? That was 2011, I want to say.
Dude, look at those. He looks the same.
On a rooftop and pat.
Look at those fucking shoes, dude. Look at those shit
kickers, dude. Yeah, I bought those for like
$20, dude. They're like...
What fucking shoes are those?
Those are Osirous. Those are O'SIrists.
Ponys or something like...
Pony's?
I like, I like, I see.
saw them, they're like high tops. I'm like, those are kind of cool, dude.
Dude, I want to...
They look pretty bad. You know, and the band is tough when everyone is wearing Jordan-style
sneakers. Yeah. That was the style of the time, dude.
Everybody's wearing camo. Everybody's got... Baggy pants and Jordans.
Yeah, no, this band was...
That was a cold day, dude. They were sick. It was like a winter in pet or something.
Oh, no. Pony shoes. He's putting you on blast.
Oh, my.
Woo!
Look at that. Those are hot.
Yeah, dude.
Well, you can get a...
You can get a...
You can get them in stock at eBay right now.
Ooh, the easy rip.
Oh, no.
Those are hideous.
Yeah, they are pretty ugly.
Those are hideous.
Dude, I was in a death core band.
I didn't have any money.
That actually is.
I got two slices of a hot and ready every day.
In 2009, 2010, if you were in a death core band that, like, if you were touring and you weren't selling a thousand plus tickets,
a night. And like everyone
was in 360 deals back then.
It's like label was getting 20% of everything.
Our label was just fucking
wow.
Giving you. Yeah.
They're giving it to us.
But I do miss that like going back to
the whole like aggression and death core
because I had a point in bringing
that up is that I feel like when I was
at least going to, you know
I think that
I go to show still
in my age now but I don't feel
the same way as I did as a teenager.
Maybe that is a changing of the time.
Maybe I'm just getting old.
But I feel like when I went and saw like, let's say, Oceano 12 years ago, I would be literally,
it would be the inner monologue would be like, I'm taking a risk going to this.
Like, I might get hurt, dude.
And now I'm just like, you know, now I'm just like, eh, am I going to just like, like,
this is just like a, you know, I'm going to enjoy my time and bobbed my head.
There's nobody to be afraid of.
Back then I was like, oh, dude, somebody might actually kill me, dude.
I'm getting fed up, dude.
I might actually die at this show.
But, like, I feel like that is, like, what the aggression is, like, missing now?
It's the scary factor.
I think that's what it is, is, like, missing for me.
It's just, like, I don't know.
It's just.
I don't know what it is.
There's not as much legitimate heart in a lot of bands.
There's bands that are badass.
You know what I mean?
They're, like, killing it.
But it's like, if it doesn't make you want to fucking punch somebody in the face,
I think.
And I think it is ignorant to say that, like, times don't change.
And, like, the crowds do change.
And, like, obviously, it's awesome because there's so many more.
Love that DVD.
Oh, so sick.
God, I love that DVD.
There's so many new faces that shows now.
And I love that.
Goes the hospital.
Gets his head split open.
Oof.
Yeah, that's sick.
I've seen some.
Beauty and the breakdown?
Oh, my God.
Love that record.
Cover your.
tracks was fucking great we played a show a couple of years ago this was like when
you guys had just we're about to play a show with them it's not enough yet though
what oh yeah we are that that does rock we played a show this was like 2018
with recon oh yeah and on broken wings dude that show is oh my
my he's like man that's like what the fuck was that shit had to hurt so my gosh he
finished his stuff too he's tough as nails that guy
That's awesome.
He's bleeding quite a bit.
Wow.
Look at that.
Shout out to us slim.
Slim.
Slim sick.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah, this band was another band that, like, on the hardcore aspect, metalcore aspect that when I was like, this band is, this band is playing music like hate breed, but they are heavy as nuts.
And I remember, like, being like, wow.
That and, you know.
That's like, I don't know.
That's like a lot of.
a lot of what I like about our band is like,
you can tell that we listen to like Bear your Dead.
You can tell that we listened to bands like that
because like,
I don't know,
that's what I want to,
I want to play a style of death core
that has fucking just like that OG
metalcore,
hardcore vibe.
Oh yeah,
bounce breakdowns.
Yeah,
it's fucking so sick.
I love that shit.
I love the fucking like thick as blood.
I love thick as blood.
They're a Florida band from back in the day.
Number one fan girl for Thick
As Blood right here
Ad a boy
Dude I just
Gino lives here
What the fuck is Gino doing?
You guys all love heavy shit
Dude
Yeah we just love
I think what's
What's a big positive
Of just us as
People is that we're just
Legitimate fans of music
Like
And it's like we know most of the local bands
That play our shows too
Because like we all like
We're all active in like
Finding bands and stuff
We're listening
Like we're listening to the bands
Coming out
A lot of people don't think
that like
that bands that are on
like a little bit higher
of a level than them
listen to stuff
but like
oh we hear everything
yeah nine times out of ten
like like
if a band is opening
our show
we've listened to them before
you know what I mean
so it's like
nice
I don't know
it's cool to like
tell openers or locals
like yo dude
decided to see you
listen to your record
you know what
because they're always like
what you know
it's like I don't know
it's really cool
oh yeah
but yeah
we're all just like genuine
enjoyers of
heavy music
yeah
I would say so
Yeah, I see it, I hear it.
You guys, you know, you guys are just, don't ever, you know, lose that and always listen to, like, like, new shit coming out.
Because something happens to your mind.
You just, you just stay open.
Yeah.
You say open mind.
We keep hearing new shit.
And then you can keep seeing new shit.
You know, you guys, you guys, this habit.
And it's been really cool to see your band come up.
Thank you.
And see, and, you know, do tours with, you know, hate breed and still, you know, continue to push the bar of, like, heavy shit, you know.
Oh my gosh
There's the
Oh there's the frowny face
That Kyle Shope drew with his hands
In the van
On the bumper sticker
Yep
And now it's on a t-shirt
Yeah
It's our number one selling shirt right now
Is the thing he drew on paint
Number two of course
On paint?
On his phone
Yeah I'm like a paint app
It's like a little squiggle on the side of it
All right
We were
On Hayfried
We were pulling up to
The venue in Hartford
I think it was
and they have a video wall we found out.
No.
No, not Hartford.
It was Harrisburg.
Harrisburg.
They had a video wall and I'm like,
we got like a couple images to put on it.
I'm like,
I'm going to draw something really stupid.
I'm a fan of that.
So I just drew the stupid face and wrote the logo with my hand.
We thought it was so funny.
We put it up on the screen and people loved it.
So then we printed it on the shirt.
Yeah.
Dude, badass.
Yeah, it's just like super comical.
Dude, fuck yeah.
Well, I don't want to keep you guys for it for two,
long you guys got sound check we got angel maker
