We're making selections for the biggest minor football game of the season.
We actually have a game Gabe in prime time between two quarterbacks.
We actually want to watch is Eagles and chief.
So later,
later in this show,
we'll give you a minor football preview and my prize pick square for the game
tonight. Gabe, buddy,
someone accused me
on the interwebs of
not talking harshly enough about
USC, believe it or not.
What?
They are,
yeah, I talked
harshly about Colorado but not
USC according to a random internet
person.
So I had a good chuckle yesterday when I saw that.
It made my weekend because the gambling hasn't been great.
It was good for Pac-12, bad NFL.
But seeing someone accuse me of not talking poorly about USC just – it made my weekend because everyone right now is piling on USC.
It's a lot of fun, Gabe.
It's a good place to be if you don't like USC.
Yeah, I don't – that person has probably not sampled the show uh no sir madam whoever you are um he craps on usc consistently
and uh he he has every right to the last few weeks i as our resident usc fan have been more
than disappointed um here's an idea here's an idea before we get into the biggest game
regular season game in recent memory and a great week of nfl to cover what if usc paid an ass load of money to brian
flores and brought him in and they like co-managed the team him and lincoln riley
little of what you need well they need a defense coordinator of course and brian flores we were
texting about this last night,
is the Vikings, right?
Yeah, he's with the Vikings and they're winning again.
And they're doing a good job.
Obviously didn't win last night, but still.
The Josh Jobs story is incredible.
Fun to watch.
Oh my God, he's making so many plays.
And he seems like a good person too,
which is also nice to root for players that seem like good people.
Think about USC.
This is sort of not just a usc problem i think other colleges and
some some some nfl teams like you have to want to be good on defense or you have to be intentional
about wanting to be good on defense and you can you might be you might hire a defensive coordinator
that's good but are you practicing to be a good defense are you being intentional with with making
sure that you're recruiting players that fit your defense are you making sure mistakes are being
coached out of?
We might get the charge at some point on today's show,
but everyone keeps saying, well, why Brandon Staley?
It's not his fault that someone drops a pass,
but the continued mistakes of that football team
eventually fall on the head coach, right?
Because either you're coaching it out of teams
or you're not playing those guys, right?
I know some guys had to play because of injury but you ever notice like the chiefs
and the eagles and the patriots for so many years never make mistakes right don't have bad penalties
don't have guys making uh scheme mistakes and mental errors don't have guys dropping passes
all that often obviously this year which is quite different but it's a it's a philosophy right it's
how you prepare your team to play football the teams teams I've been on, the teams you've watched that are good,
it's just kind of inherently drilled, right?
And I think that Lincoln Riley is not inherently drilling be good on defense.
He's not inherently having guys be physical.
So this is a problem with all air raid offense.
I know they're not air raid per se at times, but, you know, the Mike Leach,
and there was an article I think Bruce Feldman wrote this year about being a
defensive coordinator under Mike Leach.
Like it's hard to do because the core of your offense, But, you know, the Mike Leach, and there was an article I think Bruce Feldman wrote this year about being a defensive coordinator under Mike Leach.
Like, it's hard to do because the core of your offense, the core of your team, I should say,
is going to be around the offense, right?
You're going to practice to prepare your air raid offense into being good. It is kind of interesting how we've seen, you know, the success over the last 10 years in college football.
A lot of it is defensive coaches, right?
It's the Kirby Smart, the Nick Saban, even Ed Orgeron,
even though that was an offensive-minded team that year.
But, you know, even Dabo, who's an offensive guy,
look at his defense for all those years.
That was so good.
Again, you have Trevor Lawrence and Sean Watson.
Those help, obviously.
But Lincoln Riley is just not there right now.
And so you can hire whatever you want.
But you have to want to
be good on defense. You have to want to coach mistakes out of your team. And the best coaches
are able to do that because it's sort of, again, like it's talked about, it's drilled. You spend
specific time working on not making mistakes. You have guys in the facility that are coached
a certain way to avoid making mistakes. And so they just don't do that usc right now and they don't do that
in los angeles either to be fair uh for the chargers but that's why you get rid of a coach
right because i'm not saying get rid of lincoln riley but the mistakes add them add themselves
up right i mean there's a busted coverage and austin eckler slips not his fault per se and
johnson drops a pass someone else drops a pass just, it just sort of spirals out of control. Yeah. I mean that chargers game, the one score thing is
now well beyond fluky. Like it's, it's officially the Brandon Staley story and him getting testy
with people after the game is silly. I don't think we need to say much more about that. USC season
was really an embarrassment.
Truthfully, there's no other way to describe it. And they're going to have to do something,
obviously, this offseason. And then we'll see what the quarterback situation looks like next year.
I want to talk about two teams who were known for offense, who then made defense a priority,
and now arguably are probably considered better defensive teams than offensive teams. That's
maybe a statement. That's the teams going in primetime, the Super Bowl rematch, the Kelsey Bowl.
Jeff, I'm really pleased that reportedly,
after rumors that Travis and Pat were going to show up in Vegas
for the European Racing Exposition,
they apparently did not show up, realizing that would be a bad look.
I was right on this.
I text you guys.
I was like, there's no way they're going to be there. Because you tried to throw into the conversation did not show up realizing that would be a bad look i was right on this i text you guys i was
like there's no way they're gonna be there because you tried to you tried to throw into the into the
conversation about how they're not ready to play and i'm like there's just maybe travis kelsey was
here but it was also at like 1 a.m it was like 1 a.m eastern right was when the race started um
funny note my my wife not a sports fan noted not a not a sports fan. It's 1130 PM Saturday night.
The Washington Oregon state game is done.
All right.
We're in bed.
TV's off.
Like we're going to sleep.
And she goes, what time is the F1 race?
Can we put it on?
I'm like, what do you mean?
What time is the F1 race?
I don't know.
You don't watch F1.
I don't watch F1.
What are you talking about?
She goes, goes well can we
record the race i said oh okay so i turned the tv on i recorded the f1 race okay do you think she's
mentioned one time about the f1 race since saturday night i just want her to be quiet about
it she's like well what time do they race at i i don't know like what so it was a
very odd i do not know why she just half asleep while asked about the f1 race god bless all the
people who work hard to have turned this ridiculous i don't even want to call it a sport competition
into something americans pretend to care about but guys stop just stop. I watched Drive to Survive for a season on Netflix.
And I was like, okay, cool.
I got the sport.
And I haven't watched season two, three, four, five.
It's the same thing over and over again.
They're high price.
They fix the cars.
They crash the cars, in my opinion, way too much.
I'm shocked how often these cars crash.
Practice, another practice game
day they just crash all the time and i was like all right i'm i'm kind of over this show um and
so but she was like weirdly wanted to record it because it's in the in the in the zeitgeist as
they say so let's stay in the zeitgeist but try to use that as a segue back to football so
apparently the kelseys and the swifts are all going to meet tonight. By the way, meeting the parents in 2023.
Taylor's not going.
Taylor's not going.
Oh, the Buenos Aires or whatever.
Some other silly show.
Okay, fine.
Good.
Then we don't have to talk about any of it.
Yeah.
No, she's not going.
Let's talk ball, man.
I think that the Chiefs are going to hold back some of the good stuff.
And I think that Sirianni and the Eagles are
going to unload everything they got tush pushes are going to be flying uh and I think that's
going to hurt the Eagles in the long run but I think they win tonight what do you think
um this is our final game of our five picks Matt and I are one two and one this weekend
the good luck is starting to run out um like we had broncos last night and
they didn't they feel they won but didn't cover um is uh i just take the chiefs off of by favored by
three points or less like i just i think mahomes is 15 and four who is a favorite of three and a
half points or less um and their defense is all i gotta do is find a wide receiver like i i think
they're gonna be fine after by finding that person so i have the chiefs in this game we'll talk more about this with price
picks later though because i have my little my little square but i have the chiefs win this game
um close i think i think like a you know 28 27 type game it's gonna be close i think this will
be the most watched game of the year and i think well it can't be 27 it has to be 30 27 geez i'm a
dummy well you'll you'll clean that up in the second segment of this show i i think that you Well, it can't be 2027. It has to be 3027. Jeez, I'm a dummy.
Well, you'll clean that up in the second segment of this show.
I think that you will not have more people watching than ever before,
even without Taylor Swift there.
And I think more fantasy games will hang in the balance on a Monday night than ever before.
There's like a dozen players who are relevant.
All right, let's switch to a supposed AFC contender, the team that should
have been the Chiefs rival before the Eagles became that the Bengals. So the big story was
Joe Burrow with a really awkward and painful looking hand or wrist injury goes down on a throw,
not a hit on a throw, and is now out for the season. And immediately probably pushed a little
bit by folks over at
barstool but immediately everyone started to say well wait a second why wasn't joe burrow listed as
questionable or why wasn't there something more detailed on the injury report going into this game
we all bet the bengals on thursday night and he's obviously hurt and now video comes out of him with
some sort of a cast or a brace on his hand before the game so talk to me about the
Bengals without Joe Burrow but also I think this very real complaint that some people have
about why there was no not a real complaint felt kind of real to me okay it's Mike it's more it's
a Florio drunk tweeting while he lost a bet on Thursday night football well I think Portnoy and
others jumped in not all guys i like to agree
with but yeah but but that porno is doing the difference is port is doing that for content
and just like mike florio actually is angry because mike flora hates the nfl so that's that's
probably why um yeah that's how the port i did the call porn or important we're gonna like this just
they're gonna sell shirts off of this you know i mean like it's he's a smart marketing person um
do you like you really for i mean uh porno is upset about this he had a million dollars in the super bowl but like
that's separate of this of this wager i don't think that he's serious about this but i think
he's raising a point sometimes people who argue in bad faith actually stumble into the right idea
and the question is should there have been more information made available for any reason gambling game planning whatever you want so let uh let's
talk about this because um florio is like you should call congress and investigate with a grand
jury i'm like hold up buddy okay we got plenty of grand jury stuff going on right now so the
injury report um you if you get treatment on your body you're supposed to be
an injury report right now there's different ways to get treatment there are times when
if you don't use a machine that doesn't count as treatment you don't have to be an injury report
there are times when you can go see your personal trainer and you're not on the injury
report right now for the most part guys are listed and it's the end of it you're listed on the injury
report then you get a designation for practice right no practice limited practice full practice
and you get a game game designation right of like full participant like you're playing basically
or was it doubtful and out?
Those are the three.
They used to be probable.
They got rid of probable because that was like 97% of guys
who were probable played.
They're like, we're going to get rid of that designation.
So the argument is that Joe Burrow should have been listed
as wrist full participation on practice
that given no game day designation he was playing, right?
Now, for a lot of us to gamble on games if you see a quarterback on the injury report it might give you a pause on
what to do however however if you saw joe burrow listed on monday for a thursday game with wrist
full participant after he just finished an entire game where he played the entire game you would not change your wagering preferences for that game so it's a bad faith argument to
say that you would have changed how you wager in that game based on that basic that's the minimum
that would have happened or really the maximum it would have said joe burrow wrist full participation
fp and he would have got no game designation because he was playing. Now, there's videos of him in warm-ups.
Looked totally fine.
Looked great.
We saw 17 throws of his where he was perfectly fine, and then he got injured, okay?
So the way I read into this, Gabe, is maybe you can argue that he was sort of, he had
a sprained wrist beforehand.
It's hard to argue that based on the information that we have.
He looked great.
That did not look like a sprained wrist type of guy who was throwing the football. beforehand it's hard to argue that based on the information that we have he looked great that did
not look like a sprained wrist type of guy who was throwing the football he was they were like
driving down the field score again the sleeve on his thing that was to me that's a sleeve not a
brace i mean a brace is a different thing the sleeve off an airplane is something that that
players wear like i would sleeve my ankle up every time i flew to prevent swelling so maybe there
was something in there that had been swelling that doesn't mean it's an injury but there's something that was you know like you
have a loose body somewhere and something swells up for no apparent reason just the way my ankle
still swells up every now and then when i travel loose body what does that mean well you stop
floating in your you just have like in my ankle it's a floating around it just was like in there
like my ankle will swell up now when i fly and that doesn't mean i'm injured right does that mean i'm injured my ankle swells up when i'm flying in three hours
life with a couple kids after 35 is just okay but i'm saying like the point is that was more of a
of a sleeve than anything else people are upset because the social media person deleted the video
of joe burrow wearing said sleeve on his wrist. And the Bengals made a mistake.
They should have never had him wear a wrist outside of the airplane.
That was their fault for doing that.
And I understand the 20-year-old social media manager who deleted the video.
I don't think the Bengals general manager was calling down like,
hey, take the video down.
The intern just probably deleted the video on their own.
I don't think it's a nefarious thing from the Bengals.
But Gabe, more importantly to the topic you had about the injury report thing,
I've been lucky enough to sort of get into gambling circles the last couple of years
where I have people that we text back and forth that really know things.
I'm obviously the recipient of the information a lot of times.
I'm rarely giving them information, but I see the information.
the recipient of the information a lot of times.
I'm rarely giving them information, but I see the information.
The Sharps in Vegas know when guys are hurt before we know when guys are hurt.
It's their job.
Somehow they know.
If they thought Joe Burrow was hurt, they would have bet on the Bengals,
to me, the Ravens, and the line would have gone up and up and up.
Stayed static.
It's a three and a half.
Never went up. So he wasn't hurt.
That's my point.
He wasn't hurt.
So you can argue the semantics of it being listed, wrist, full participation,
whether that should have happened or not.
But the point is, Gabe, is that you were raging around him
if you want the Bengals to cover that game,
whether or not he's on the injury report.
He was fine against Houston.
He was fine or not against who they play their night the ravens and he's now obviously
hurt he got hurt in the game injuries happen it's part of football and i think that mike florio is
just he just doesn't like football i don't think there's another answer like he he's so he's always
angry about the nfl all his tweets are angry about what's happening in the NFL. So good luck on
that grand jury investigation. So stupid. Yeah, it is stupid. But I think there is
some like I said, even a bad faith argument, maybe sort of helps unearth a larger issue.
In my experience as an NFL fan, I remember, sorry, it always goes back
to these guys. I remember, you know, many seasons in a row where Tom Brady was listed as, you know,
on the injury report. And it was always BS. Like, it was just coaching, just just gamesmanship that
New England participated in. And nobody ever took it seriously.
And then sometimes he actually was hurt, and you didn't know whether he was or he wasn't. It was
just a bunch of BS. It was smokescreen. So is it possible that maybe the people who are upset
are upset by teams trying to obscure the truth from other teams less than, like you said,
the Vegas markets are going to correct themselves. They know the truth. But what from other teams less than you know like you said the vegas markets are going to
correct themselves they know the truth but what about other teams trying to throw each other off
that's exactly what's happening in the injury report it's why college football never releases
anything it's so funny how angry people are about the nfl and college football that you wager on as
well has zero injury reporting whatsoever yeah of course like if i were the bangles and obviously
burrow was going to play these obviously after these obviously i just list burrow every week with a says upper body injury just to mess with
people like that's what that's what new england did right upper body injury for tom brady each
week because he got a little you know rubbed down on his elbow after practice um it's also week 11
everyone's a little beat up there are people that argue that there should be an injury report
designation for every player who has some sort of bump and bruise.
You'd have 53 guys listed on the injury report.
That's not what the injury report's for.
It's not what it's for, guys.
And it's not for Joe Burrow being full contact, full speed,
full ready to go early in that game.
He got hurt, man.
You lost a bet.
It happens.
Don't wager more than you then then you can afford
to lose right and if you have a gambling problem call 1-800-GAMBLER I talked I told Floria that
he needs to call you he seems to have a gambling problem if he's that angry about this so I hope
he took my advice and maybe shut it down a little bit yeah all right let's switch gears the team
that was supposed to be a real contender in the AFC that even after a win this week still just doesn't feel like one the Bills let's be honest you know they lucked into it with the Jets Zach
Wilson in a league with a lot of bad quarterbacks playing right now he has to be the worst right I
mean it's time I think as a reformed Jets fan, looking at their defense, looking at parts of their offense,
looking at their coach, looking at what I think their culture is based off hard knocks,
they only have one problem. So it's time to just man up, take whatever record you get this year,
I'm not saying tank, and then trade whatever you got to trade to go get Caleb Williams and rebuild
a real functional franchise.
Instead of taking the second or third best quarterback available
in the first round like you've always done,
go get the guy, the actual number one guy.
Not the second best or the third best guy
or the guy you sort of scouted because you went to a big school.
Go get the actual guy and pay the price
or your team will be doomed to suck like this forever.
That's what the Jets need to hear right uh yeah but roger is coming back in what's week 11 12 he's not it
that stop he's not coming back wait after three weeks three months after an ac ac a chile surgery
he's not coming back i thought that i thought he's like on the he's practicing already he's on the
the fast track for recovery
i mean we get this report each week right like he sent the jets video about how he's working out
already and stuff how many weeks how many weeks do you have to go through this aaron rogers thing
like until he gets all the attention forever um look it's a really good point you make right
that you have a team right now that's really able to contend i think for an afc championship with
the roster they have put together it's a good roster right it's really able to contend i think for an afc championship with the roster
they have put together it's a good roster right it's a good defense enough players on offense
the offensive line's a little bit of concern with the injuries that they continue to have there
um you know mckay beckton is out for the not out for the year hurt his ankle i think and what dwayne
brown's already out right there's there's some concerns with i think the offensive line so that
that would be a question mark that can be addressed possibly, you know, at some point in the offseason.
But you do need a quarterback of the future.
And you're kind of screwed next year, though,
because Rodgers is under contract, Gabe.
So, like, are you going to use all your –
the thing that – the mistake the Jets made
is having no backup plan for Rodgers, right?
Zach Wilson was not the backup plan.
You could have had him play other guys.
Look around the NFL, like the better teams.
They have some sort of backup plan.
It's not a guy who's going to win a Super Bowl for you,
but Mahomes is out a month.
The Chiefs will split two of their games.
We've seen their backups come in during playoff games.
They lead drives in playoff games, right?
You need some sort of backup to just be functional.
Zach Wilson's not functional.
And the reason they didn't do that, they didn't want to piss off Aaron Rodgers, right? They didn't some sort of backup to just be functional. Zach Wilson's not functional. And the reason they didn't do that,
they didn't want to piss off Aaron Rodgers, right?
They didn't want to bring in a player that could possibly,
at some point, score points if Rodgers is out
and make Rodgers look bad.
So why would they spend a bunch of assets
to go get Caleb Williams if Rodgers will take that
as an offense?
It's what the Packers did, and he wanted to leave Green Bay.
So to me, they're stuck, Gabe. I agree with with you they have a bunch of players that they don't of
course you need your draft picks you absolutely do but the jets i can argue can do without of
them for a few years to get caleb williams right certainly possible they've had a billion and
they've drafted fairly well in the early rounds and but the thing is is you're stuck with aaron
rogers for next season and that's the bet you've made.
And you're going to have a 41-year-old off of an ACL.
I keep saying ACL.
A 41-year-old off of an Achilles.
By the way, breaking news right now.
That's a very bad breaking news sound.
The Jets will start Tim Boyle at quarterback moving forward.
Tim Boyle.
There you go, Gabe.
You've chosen some bad teams to root for.
Do you want to be a Chiefs fan and an Oregon fan?
You can still do that.
Yes and yes.
By the way, I think I went to high school with Tim Boyle.
He was a really good athlete.
Wait, did you really?
No, I went to high school with a guy named Tim Boyle
who was one of the better athletes in town.
Great baseball player.
Pretty good football player.
Great basketball player. all around great guy uh but timmy boyle can't be a starting quarterback in the nfl i looked at this tim boyle's record uh at every level he sucks i mean
and now he's the starting quarterback for the new york jets so how about this fine so they don't
start from hartford connecticut yeah how about? If they are stuck with Rodgers,
and yeah, contractually, it certainly seems they are,
but I don't know why we would assume anything is what Rodgers says it is.
But if they're stuck with him, then fine.
Then this offseason should be nothing but going and getting Devontae Adams.
If you have Devontae Adams and Garrett Wilson,
and 75% of Aaron Rodgers,
you can now beat every team in the AFC with that defense.
If you have those two guys.
That's unguardable.
Unguardable.
So, that's it.
That's the only thing you have to do.
Just do that.
Why would the Raiders trade Devontae Adams? I guess they're trying to rebuild the game. Because he to do. Just do that. Why don't the Raiders trade Devonta Adams?
I guess they're trying to rebuild the game.
Because he doesn't want to be there, and he's playing for some, you know, nobody, Aiden O'Connell.
What if they get a quarterback there, too?
I don't know.
Yeah, I mean, look, you certainly can go all in for a dream team.
However, we have seen dream teams routinely fail in the NFL. when's the last time a dream team won anything
never like tom i guess tom brady and the bucks that was that dream team but they only brought
in gronk and tom right it wasn't like they brought in a bunch of other they got a few other guys on
discounts didn't sue and a few other guys turn up for that okay so maybe that was that, but that's also Tom Brady. So I very quickly detour.
The Uncle T thing at Michigan, how much do you want that to be Tom Brady?
Who says it isn't?
They report it's not Tom Brady.
I don't think Tom Brady is behind the scenes concocting Michigan's cheating scandals.
It would actually make your case a lot better for how much you hate him, though.
So that would have been fun.
Nonetheless, the Voltaire's will be great.
I get it.
But the Jets, I mean, is it all going to happen this year?
Is it all going to happen?
It's going to happen next season.
The Chiefs are going to be – their defense will be one year
with more experience. I'm sure they'll figure out an offense. Are you going to go and beat the Chiefs are going to be, their defense will be one year with more experience.
I'm sure they'll figure out an offense.
Are you going to go and beat the Chiefs next season?
I mean, it's certainly possible, I guess, but I don't feel likely.
It doesn't feel likely, but I like,
if Devontae Adams just appeared in a Jets uniform
and Aaron Rodgers was like wearing pads
and actually running around on a field,
not doing whatever he's doing pregame every week.
I would have to say i'm just quickly going down the teams in the afc it's not going to be the bengals next year given burrow's situation the bills don't look great even though they just beat
the jets they don't look like it the ravens are pretty good but every other year that things come
apart there the dolphins yeah maybe i don't know but that
always that just feels like it's hanging on by a thread i don't know i like the jets against
everyone except the chiefs if they have those pieces are you like back in as a jets fan sounds
like it if if rogers is back and davante adams comes and and solace stays on back. That's a lot of ifs.
Okay.
All right.
A lot of ifs.
A lot of ifs.
Here's a team that has no ifs.
Has no ifs, and I think people aren't ready to acknowledge it yet,
but Brock Purdy's the MVP.
He just is.
He's playing great ball.
He's putting up great stats.
His team is winning. they don't play as well
without him they play great with him i mean we could get into it and try to come up with a bunch
of excuses for why it isn't him it's him he's the most valuable player to a team that is winning
right now so i may have said this before on various platforms,
but I'll say it again on this platform.
There's a saying that we have in the meeting room,
especially offensive linemen.
It's never as good or never as bad, right?
So Brock Purdy was probably never as good as he was in that five-week stretch throughout the season.
He probably was never as bad as he was in a three-game stretch.
And he's probably not as good as he's played the last two weeks, right?
Like he's somewhere in the middle.
We've seen now very extremes, right, Gabe?
We've seen very, very good for seven games
and very bad for really two and a half games.
So he's probably in the middle.
He'll even out in the middle somewhere.
But he's been great the last two weeks.
He has a pass rating of 157.3.
It's the first time we've seen quarterback in back-to-back weeks
with that pass rate since at least 1950.
He's been fantastic.
It's very clear that when all his weapons are healthy,
including Trent Williams, the team is much better.
But when guys are not healthy, not the same teams.
What happens if one guy gets hurt in the last six weeks of the season on offense?
Is the offense going to take it?
It feels like it's a very fine line to walk where one guy gets hurt on your offense
and all of a sudden your offense can't function.
So Brock Purdy's played great the last couple weeks.
I'm with you.
But he's not the MVP.
The MVP is an interesting discussion.
I don't, you know, most valuable player,
we don't ever give it to the most valuable player.
We give it to the best player on the best team typically.
But I can argue like a Tyreek Hill should be in the running for MVP.
I saw some Miles Garrett love today for mvp um you know brock purdy is is playing well but i mean is the mvp
trent williams because the offense looked completely different when he was out so doing a
great job um the niners have they're at seattle i think that's a thursday night football game
excuse me it's not there's yeah it's th Thursday. Yeah, it is Thursday. It's Thanksgiving night is what it is.
Thanksgiving night.
Then they go to the Eagles.
So let's see.
Come back to me in two weeks.
At Seattle, at Philly, next two weeks.
Actually, it's Seattle, Philly, Seattle, three straight weeks.
So how about we revisit Brock Purdy as the best quarterback in the NFL in three weeks?
For the record, didn't say best quarterback, said MVP.
And Tyreek Hill is your best argument against it.
Most of your MVP is the best quarterback in the league.
This could be the year where a wide receiver does it
because Tyreek Hill is unstoppable in an offense
that is clearly built more around him than any other player.
And they're exciting as hell hell and he makes everyone better so i i could argue for ty hill obviously miles garrett right you know is on
is great browns i don't know they seem somewhat fraudulent by the way i hate giving a ucla
quarterback any respect this week after what they just did to USC but I like DTR man I know you liked him when
he was at UCLA like I I don't know he falls into that same category for me as so many other really
really nice college players who just don't get taken seriously at the next level and then they
get the chance and what do you know they win like why do we always do this why are we so surprised
winners are winners I mean he threw for 100 and something yards
yesterday on the game he did his last drive was great it was he threw for 165 he threw 43 times
why why is he doing 43 times to fanski um he didn't win the game we're back to quarterback
wins so justin herbert stinks because he can't win dtr good because he won the game is that we're
going with sort of the what we're going with?
No.
Justin Herbert's a lot better and is being wasted in L.A.
I'm just saying DTR is the kind of guy who only a few years ago was like,
well, maybe if he switches to wide receiver,
oh, he can play tight end and special teams.
Those are bad faith.
You know that's a bad faith argument.
I'm just saying I like guys like him. I want to draft more guys like him into the league and go,
Oh,
you've lost.
I'm with you.
You beat good teams and only lost like six games in your whole college
career.
And you're a great athlete and seemingly a good,
smart guy.
Yeah.
You're on my team.
Let's just draft that way.
Oh yeah.
No,
I'm with,
I'm with you there.
All right.
How about this one?
Uh,
Cowboys.
We got to talk about them,
right?
They won again. Guess what? They're just a bully. who can't take a punch. That's all they are. I keep looking up and they're
like, oh my God, the Cowboys. Wait, who'd they beat? What? And by the way, they gave up three
fourth down conversions to Bryce Young yesterday. They allowed the Panthers to stay in that game a
little too long for my liking.
I don't think they're any good at all.
I know they're not great, but I don't even think they're that good.
Well, they're frontrunners.
They play well against good football, bad football teams, I should say.
We have to see them play well against good football teams.
This is the, not to go back to USC here, but USC started 6-0 this year.
And it was like, well, let's see them against good football teams they went one and five against good football teams the Cowboys right now
have played two good football teams they lost both those games right the Niners and the Eagles
and they'll get opportunities to play the Eagles again pretty soon but they beat the bad football
teams they played and they do it really well and so you have to say look there's certainly
times when favorites lose and you should never say that a win isn't important and a win isn't
good for your franchise but for a lot of us i feel like the wins are great and all but we have
to see them do it against a certain caliber of team to feel like they're a real postseason
you know success opportunities are real, I should say.
And so for a lot of us, I enjoy watching them play football.
Deron Blaine has four pick sixes this year.
It's incredible.
Their offense, everything's good about them,
but they haven't beat the good teams.
And so you can't take them seriously until we see some results against those better football teams.
You mentioned Deron Blaine.
I looked him up yesterday.
I was like, who? the guy's literally named bland
that no wonder i haven't heard him so that's the guy playing for digs so yeah we're back to this
argument hey digs like maybe all those stats don't mean a whole lot if the guy behind you can go put
up equal or better stats just playing in that spot like why do guys always assume they're completely and totally
irreplaceable one-of-a-kind players when they go down and the next guy's like yeah i'll have
four pick sixes in a season no problem um i mean obviously you see a bigger sample size than that
but i mean it's it's telling uh it certainly it certainly is um but
yeah he's done a great job with him not in the game but again against the better teams the cowboys
defense just not as good it's the kind of point right just just not as good by the way micah
parsons says he threw up during the game because he took free to work out yeah yeah okay so that'll die guys do no I don't think it's
a thing the guys do oh well hold a second then someone's here making the
house door here wait no we're live no no steak in the house but um Jeff's got a
door swinging open doors being closed okay all right doors being closed it's
the thing about doing it live but people that are here have headphones and can't can't hear that we're we're going on um so uh okay so when i
was a young football player we had an offensive lineman uh that i was supposed to sort of like
follow around he was older player it was with my agency and they're like hey follow follow this
player around he'll kind of you know help you through your rookie season so the final
preseason game we played the Steelers week four and I wasn't supposed to play in that game because
they had told me that they were going to try to save me for practice squad the Panthers were and
they didn't want me to get any more film for from the preseason they want to cut me release me and
then no one would pick me up because I didn't play a lot in the preseason I only had one drive against
the Colts in the first preseason game.
So our starters dressed to play the game and then didn't play, so they sat out.
Well, this older offensive lineman had some concoction that he had stirred up in a bottle, and he didn't drink it because he wasn't going to play.
So it was like the first quarter, he goes, Schwartz, drink this drink.
I'm not playing.
You might play, like, drink this.
And I drank it because i was you
know 22 years old and didn't know any better and dude i thought my heart was gonna explode out my
chest same as michael parks i don't know what he gave me it was i had like like same with parts
like the like legit like boom boom boom it was it was a lot of energy drink put it like that
wow so that's i just you just took it because this veteran guy told you to take it.
Yeah.
Man,
you must've been a hard,
hard kid to deal with.
Don't you know about like,
you know,
peer pressure and stuff.
I'm surprised you don't drink given that you just were like,
okay,
sure.
Huh?
Like,
I mean,
they,
they had told me like,
if he tells you to do something or he, he's going to teach you to play in the NFL. So I was like, he played like 10 years. I was like, had told me, like, if he tells you to do something
or he's going to teach you to play in the NFL.
So I was like, he played like 10 years.
I was like, cool, like, sign me up.
And he told me that drink this drink.
He said it would help me, like, get ready for the game
and get ready when I go in.
I said, cool.
And then I ended up being, like, C4 or whatever
and didn't feel great on the old ticker there.
Yeah.
By the way, remember a few years ago when Bart bart scott went on espn and started talking about
how when the weather's cold he used to take viagra and everyone were like freaked out and
like basically told him he can't say that on tv and you know it was a big deal and now i was
watching shannon and ocho the other day and they're just ocho's just openly talking about this as if
all players do this and having he said he would take about a half of Viagra to get the blood flowing.
And they made a big joke out of it.
But he said it so casually that I was like, wait a second.
So, like, why did everyone jump all over Bart Scott?
Like, maybe this is something lots of guys do.
So, I'm not asking you if that's something you did.
But is that something people did do?
I've never seen that before.
Really? No. Okay. All right. you did but is that something people did do i've never seen that before really no okay all right
well maybe guys we know of a couple guys who've done it i mean guys might go in the bathroom and
do i don't know yeah all right um a few other things i don't think we need to talk about but
let's just hit them before we take a break come back and get your square for tonight's game uh
first of all i'd like to cancel both afc and nfc south
let's just give that terrain back to the sec and the acc you got enough good college football
no more watching teams in the nfl down south um the broncos they won a pretty exciting game last
night uh they're suddenly like kind of technically alive but we don't need to talk about them do we
i know okay great that's a time saver
uh the browns we talked about dtr that felt like enough we don't need to talk about the
browns being a division leader and probably the hardest division in the sport uh no i mean the
browns um i've had a quarterback they would be a legit like they're they are good man
they would be a legit like they're they are good man well okay maybe they do have a quarterback not dtr not to win not to win the afc if you have like if you're the browns are you hiring
like a law firm to go through the contract for deshaun to try to avoid the whole thing
are you looking for some clause you must be right yes yes okay good luck to them um
brandon staley we touched on him earlier it's time to talk about this uh we are live at this
moment i would bet between us being live and people hitting play on the audio version of this
sometime later today or tomorrow brandon staley is no longer the chargers coach what do you think
about that?
I don't think Spanos is going to do it,
but yeah, I'll just get rid of him, put Kellen Moore in there,
be done with it, right?
I mean, again, it's the mistakes, right?
It's like the compounding mistakes each game that just you're like,
you know, like it's just, it's got to be exhausting being on that team and playing for them.
Like they just continue to make mistakes that cost them games in all different ways.
They drop a pass.
They don't line up properly.
They have this coaching error.
They have this thing happen.
It's a game that's just a lot, man.
The injuries too.
You need to just move off from Staley.
Also too, if you're a coach who is offensive-minded or defensive-minded and you control that side of the ball, or defensive mind you control that side of the ball
you can't suck on that side of the ball that's like your bread and butter if you're an offensive
coach you can't be bad on offense if you're a defensive coach you can't be bad on defense
staley's bad on defense he's not even good the thing he's supposed to be good at so he's got to
go he has to go yeah yeah well i I don't like calling for people's jobs.
And I have liked some of the things that he's brought into the NFL as like, yeah, that's not
weird. Why? Of course, we should do that. Like I think his his mind is compelling his coaching
ability, not. And the one score thing is just absurd at this point. So there are rumors out
there. And they are really just rumors. I have no idea why these things make air, but rumors that at least got fanned flames by our buddy Dan Orlovsky
while on with Pat McAfee, Belichick to the Chargers, that apparently something like that's
already in the works. I love it. First of all, are you quote unquote, hearing things about that
other than me bringing it up to you? Okay.
Me neither.
I wouldn't do that.
Do you think Belichick would do it? I would love that.
I wouldn't.
I'd be the end of my short run as a Chargers fan.
I said this like two weeks ago.
If you tell Bill Belichick that he can be the head coach of the Chargers but not have player personnel control,
they would win a lot of football
games bill's problem is not that he can't coach his problem is that he he can't um you know he
doesn't bring good football players anymore so that if you end up allowing someone else to pick
the players i think you win a lot of football games with bill as a head coach with with herbert
well the guys who picked the players at the chargers did a great job they got a lot of football games with Bill as the head coach with Herbert. Well, the guys who picked the players at the Chargers did a great job.
They got a lot of great players.
They just can't play.
That's as simple as it is.
That's fair, sure.
But the coaching staff is just also like they need just better coaching overall altogether.
Okay.
All right. So there's this dude, Deontay Banks,
first-round pick out of Maryland, goes to the Giants.
Giants beat the Commanders.
Then he goes on IG Live right after the game
and starts crapping on the Commanders for having skipped over him
and having him end up on the Giants.
And my question to you is, why do guys give a shit?
Like, how is he still upset about this?
He obviously dodged a bullet, not having to having to go to like the worst franchise in professional sports
he just won a game with a team that has some promise and and at least he lives in new york
why is he upset what's the problem um i uh i think guys, when they –
we talk about motivation all the time, right?
Like they – it's a long season.
You have to use motivation any way you can.
And guys use the spite motivation all the time, right?
Me gets the world, so everyone hates me.
And so when you win a game, guys just go talk shit about it.
I put like nothing into this.
This is what players always do, Gabe.
They never look at grasses greener. They just want to go to the internet and boast about someone passing on
them and someone not liking them and so it's just i don't put much stock into that honestly
it just feels like the guy's just venting after a game like whatever i'm with you i agree he's in a
better spot much better spot speaking of which tomm Tommy DeVito, he's fun.
Put up some numbers.
Maybe it doesn't stink.
Maybe Tommy DeVito's a guy.
Maybe,
but Ron Rivera's probably out of a job too,
just like Staley is.
Really?
What about Ron Rivera
going to be the DC at USC?
I'm going to just say
every known commodity
who might know something
about defense,
put him at the top of the list.
I think that there would be that that would be fun but i think i by the way belichick by the way i think there'd be some commanders some some commanders might give him a call if he's out of a
job well then why did they just give away all their good players if they thought they had a
chance to go get the best coach in history why would just give away all their good players? If they thought they had a chance to go get the best coach in history,
why would they give away all their best defensive players?
I don't know, but I think because Rivera's not open yet for that job.
I mean, that job's not open yet.
But I think Belichick would get a call from Josh Harris,
the new owner of the Commanders.
They've got to fix their name too.
I don't like their name too. Josh has a lot of owner of the Commanders. They've got to fix their name, too. I don't like their name, too. Josh has a lot of
things to do in Washington.
Well, if they get Belichick, then that
sets them up for some new names.
Grumpy. Wait, so if you're a Chargers,
if the Chargers get Belichick, you're off the Chargers?
A hundred percent.
I have principles, Jeff. I can't root
for a team that Bill Belichick coaches.
Can't do it.
Okay. By the way, my son son who's now five and a half
almost six we're watching uh red zone yesterday he loves red zone he always asks for red zone
he keeps asking dad is there red zone for college football dad is there red zone for basketball like
all he wants is red zone so yesterday the the bills and jets game there is a red zone there is a isn't there an nba one
they're doing now excuse me nba one just started it for the tournament i watched a little bit of
it on friday night it was fun uh their their version of hansen maybe needs to take it down
a little bit but it's a cool concept uh but my kid says uh yeah this game stinks this game stinks
of the jets and the bills i was like yeah i wish
they wouldn't show us this game he goes the quarterback i don't know man he's like he can run
but he can't pass he can't pass at all i was like you're ready buddy you're analyzing it perfectly
and he can only run because he can't throw he's just running around out there he's like yeah he
doesn't even look like he knows how to throw it.
Just give him a job already, man.
Give him a job. I'm ready.
I'm grooming him.
All right, let's take a quick break.
Let's come back.
You're a little smarter than he is still,
so you're going to give me some money-making picks.

All right, we're back from break.
It's time to talk about Monday Night Football.
But first, Gabe, do you want to touch on college football at all
or do you want to just – nothing happened this weekend.
The same teams won.
I think after this weekend we'll get some more movement
with a lot of rivalry games.
We know, obviously, that someone has to lose in the Big Ten.
Oregon and Washington are on a path to play each other.
They'll figure that out.
Texas will play someone in the Big 12 championship game.
Alabama, Georgia play in two weekends.
It feels like we're getting to the point where it'll all settle itself out.
But there's been no upsets, man.
It's been a wild year at the top.
Again, five undefeated teams this way in the season.
It doesn't happen very often.
And the one-loss teams are Alabama lost to Texas.
Texas lost to Oklahoma on the last play of the game.
Oregon lost by three to Washington.
Those are the top eight teams right now. It's kind of crazy how well those teams have played and it all get
figured out yeah i mean worst case scenario you're gonna have to help me out here because
because going into the weekend a lot of the takes were like screw you for even implying that the acc
could get left out if fsu's undefeated
they're going well they just lost their quarterback so i don't know if they're going anywhere uh
so now the question becomes if it's if it's bama georgia and bama wins they're in
do it does anyone kick georg out? I don't think so.
Michigan, Ohio State, somebody's getting dinged.
If Bama wins against Georgia in the SEC championship game,
and FSU, Washington, and the Big Ten champion are undefeated,
Georgia is out.
Do you think they take an FSU without a healthy quarterback over?
They're undefeated, yes.
They're undefeated.
They've won all their games.
That's just the way this sport works.
I mean, dude, I'm all for the put the undefeated team in,
especially if they've played some real competition.
But I don't know if I can co-sign that i i don't want to see georgia in there again i'm getting tired of them but come
on do we honestly think that fsu is a better team than georgia even if no georgia loses to alabama
i don't think so but you just think that's that's how they got that's just the way it's
going to break down yeah wow all right so
so give me since i think a lot of people watching and listening want your take on this talk to me
about the pac-12 then just briefly like oregon washington what do we want i think we're going
to be organ state this weekend and then we're going to play washington who's already clinched
for the pac-12 championship on friday night december 1st um oregon's going to be like an
eight-point favorite too it's going to be a big number surprising how big a Oregon's going to be like an eight-point favorite, too. It's going to be a big number.
Surprising how big that number's going to be,
but that's where it's going to be at.
And, you know, we'll preview it next week.
I'll tell you that.
I'm excited to talk about just Oregon to win this weekend.
They play Civil War on Friday night,
maybe the last one for a long time as the Pac-12.
Is this the last week of the Pac-12 regular season?
Forever.
This is it.
It's the last one.
So I'm excited. Friday night, 8 the civil war should be fun oh we got football every day this week right basically so um great
time to be a football fan are you going to go to vegas for the pac-12 championship no my parents
are here and i'm not doing that all right well one thing you can do in Vegas, make a little money.
Jeff, it's time.
We got a great Monday night game.
I want you to make me some money tonight.
Okay.
So we're doing prize picks.
Remember, use my promo code GSSY.
Get a $100 match deposit.
You can choose up to two to six players for your square.
$100 match deposit. You can choose up to two to six players for your square
and you can project if they
go more or less, then
they're projected
total for something. You can choose a bunch of different
things to choose. Okay, here we go.
You ready? I have three players.
Okay.
Both these pass rushes are really good.
In games like this,
quarterbacks have to scramble
for what they have to do. I'm going to wager on the defensive lines getting pressure,
and both these quarterbacks.
We saw the Super Bowl.
Both quarterbacks ran.
We'll do it again tonight.
So I have Jalen Hurts more than 38.5 rushing yards.
He has not run as much this season.
He also hasn't really had to.
But when they played the better defenses, he has run more.
Dallas, 10 attempts, 36 yards. Jets, 8 attempts, 47 more. Dallas, 10 attempts, 36 yards.
Jets, eight attempts, 47 yards.
Rams, 15 attempts, 72 yards.
He will have to run tight.
The Chiefs will find ways to pressure him, not just with the front four,
but they're going to blitz and find ways for him to have to run the football,
in my opinion.
On the flip side, you have Patrick Mahomes,
who is more than 26 and a half rush yards for
him again sort of same thing right where we see him you know sort of have to scramble a little bit
more in some of these games when people pressure him um and I think we're gonna see this again
time just wager on the style of game that's going to be played and the other one that I have here
to round it out Rashi Rice more than 43 and a half receiving yards i have a
strong feeling that he's going to come out of the bye for the chiefs and be the guy wide receiver
they're needing a guy he's second in targets game and i expect him to come out of the buy with some
things scripted up as i try to take away travis kelsey go to rice and i think rice will have a
big game tonight as the chiefs win this game so that's my that's my three square play there
as the Chiefs win this game.
So that's my three square play there.
I like it.
I like it.
I want to just say,
I think you've spotted sort of a soft spot in the market here
with this logic of pressure on a quarterback
who has a little bit of mobility
leads to not necessarily design runs,
but, you know, yards gained.
And all I need is 20 something 30 something yards this bet
i think or this this move has worked for you a few times this season this is not the first time
i've heard this logic i love quarter i love quarterback um i love quarterback over russian
they didn't post yesterday but i i bet matt stafford over like four times this year he's
hit three or four times because his number is like two and a half and the Rams offense line is not as good and we've had
Stafford been like having to scramble more often so yeah I'm uh love it that's it I like good like
yeah we're good I like Pat running for more yards it seems like he doesn't bother to do it
almost every week but when it really matters, Pat reminds people,
like, yeah, I mean, I could be this guy if I wanted to be.
I'm more athletic than, you know, 30 other quarterbacks out there.
He knows he's not Lamar, but he's basically a better runner
than almost anybody else.
Jalen's up there with him.
He seems like he just, he'll go get you that 18-yard gain
when the defense just forgets about him a couple times
in a big game people always ask how fast is mahomes he's faster than the person chasing him
that's all that matters he always has been in big games all right well i like that i like that uh
that square i think those are three smart bets the the reishi rice one scares me because i'm going up
against him in fantasy um listen to this listen to what's going on in my fantasy matchup not that anyone cares about a fantasy is this our league uh no this is a
different league i have my homes kelsey and aj brown but i'm trailing i'm going against
pacheco and rice and he's got a lead now the's wonky, so it's not even worth getting into. But it's basically like where every single play of this game is going to matter,
which I think is true of a lot of leagues.
So I forgot that I have fantasy football,
and I didn't set either of my rosters for my leagues,
and it didn't go well for me.
I had Trevor Lawrence on the bench.
It didn't go terribly well.
He had, like, a lot of points.
It wasn't the best week for my fantasy.
But, yeah, I just forgot.
It just happens.
Well, you know what you don't forget?
You don't forget to give me those prize pick winners.
You've had a good season so far.
Yeah, it's been a ton of fun, man.
The three-entry square should be a winner tonight.

Yeah, glad to do it.
It's a lot of fun.
I'm glad Price Picks is aboard.
We'll be back on Wednesday this week for a gambling preview.
We have games on Thursday because of Thanksgiving.
That's going to be back on Wednesday.

Have a lot of fun, hopefully, with friends and family and some good food.
And we'll talk to you guys on Wednesday.
Take care, everybody.
