It is Friday, December 6th.
I'm Jeff Schwartz.
That is Matt Ford.
This is Jeff Schwartz's Smarter Than You, presented by Greg Morris Cards.
More on them in a little bit, but we're glad to have Greg along.
You can find the QR code, as usual, on the screen here.
If you're watching on YouTube or on social media,
you can also link up with them on their website as well.
We'll have more of Greg Morris in a little bit.
Matthew, as usual, on a Friday, we go through the NFL slate.
We pick out five sides.
That'll be five numbers against the spread.
They'll put into our contest for the week, Matt.
We are getting a little hot, buddy.
Don't let us get hot here.
We're still under 500, barely, but we went four and one.
We went three and two the last couple of weeks,
so we're starting to feel this out a little bit more.
And we'll get to all the games in a second, buddy.
But how are you feeling?
You were under the weather,
no contact with any other humans outside of your little family.
We feeling better, buddy.
That's it, man.
Thank you for asking.
Feeling great.
Feeling, yeah, doing much better.
Shout out to everyone who's lived through the RSV thing,
which I feel like must've existed. And then I think after COVID, we were like, oh, like, what's this thing? This is different. This is I'm sure you had it. I'm sure everyone's had it with kids. But thank you for asking. How are you doing?
Big Ten Championship game, so it's nice to go to a new conference and run the conference.
Our basketball team, by the way, undefeated.
We have not lost a game in men's basketball or football
the entire calendar year.
Well, I guess not calendar year.
Since the summer, since the summer, since August.
So men's basketball.
We're on a collision course with Maryland, buddy, in the Big Ten.
We're going to see you at one point.
We should do a live stream Maryland-O oregon men's college basketball game i know like
two people on the team i'm sure you you know all maryland's team i know i know this awesome
freshman we have who the coach was already like yeah like he's only going to be here for a couple
more months before he goes to the nba uh ken palm has oregon at 15 and maryland at 19. And a classic Big Ten rivalry in the making.
Sunday, January 5th, we play you guys in Oregon.
That'll be a good one.
Oh, we have to travel to Eugene on that Sunday.
Forget NFL.
Let's go watch Oregon, Maryland.
That's like week 17 probably.
Honestly, the way this playoff race is shaking out,
we're not going to need to even be watching the games by then.
It'll just be one or two seeds that are the difference.
This Big Ten schedule is so fun to me.
It's Maryland, Ohio State, Penn State,
Purdue who lost last night, Minnesota, Nebraska, Michigan.
Oh, geez.
I made a wager on Oregon to win the Big Ten a couple weeks ago
at like plus 2,800 to win the Big Ten basketball.
Nice.
Why is it so low?
Because people forget that they're in the
big 10 probably. Plus they always start slow and who knows? I mean, Purdue, Oh my God, Purdue,
Purdue is another big, a big man who can't, who can't move. What a shocking consecutive year.
I think I will say, Jeff, I still look at the schedule and go like, wait, where's like UVA and
UNC? Like, obviously like duke that one's a separate
thing but i it's still weird to me looking at these big 10 schools and then it's like oh usc
like what a fun out of conference matchup to have in the middle of february it's like no that's
that's our conference now like it's just it's so crazy you have to go to uh you have to go to to
the galen center to watch your your terribly going game game is like
a usc homer now yeah wow they're paying both ucla and usc in college park this year which is uh
slightly annoying for me personally yeah that'd be that would be fun to go to though yeah ucla
so that's a good game they're they're 18 and ken palm jeff i'm around 19. i i love to fade people
that give out college but some people give college basketball picks. And my favorite thing, too, is they just give no analysis
other than saying a team has ranked so-and-so on Ken Palm.
Yeah.
Oregon's 15.
Maryland's 18.
I'm taking Oregon minus the three.
Taking the Ducks.
That doesn't do anything.
No.
And as we get into NFL, we're going to do that with DVOA.
DVOA is better.
Take that team.
But as usual, we are making strides to end the season, Matt.
This happens every year where the last month of the season,
we do really well.
We throw out trends.
We bet on our gut and how we watch football.
And let's get into games.
First, I want to mention one thing.
The Lions won last night on Thursday Night Football
by being aggressive on fourth down.
Four of five,
including two touchdowns and a first
down that sealed the game for them to kick a game-winning
field goal. Quickly,
if that is who you are as a team,
and the Lions are that, be
that team all the time, right?
And they game plan for it, right, Matt?
They prepare heading into the week,
Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday at practice,
knowing they're going to go for it on fourth down.
They have a plan, they're prepared, and they execute.
That's much better than just determining on Sunday to go for it randomly.
Like, be who you are.
The Lions are who they are.
It wins them a lot of football games.
Now, will it cost them at some point?
Certainly can.
But their defense, Matt, was missing.
I assume he had 13 players on injured reserve,
plus missing I think four other guys were out,
including one player that got hurt on the first drive of the game.
So it makes sense why they wanted to end the game on offense
because the Packers probably would have gotten the ball
and come right back down the field.
But I like just be who you are, Matt, and they are aggressive.
I mean, that was one of the craziest decisions that worked that I've seen in a long time
in the NFL.
I thought I was saying in a conversation that included Gabe on the platform formerly known
as Twitter.
Dan Campbell reminds me of the guy at the bachelor party who is so much more drunk than
everyone else and is sitting at the end of the blackjack table and is doing stuff like hitting on 18.
And every time he does it,
it's like,
Oh,
you got a three 21.
Like he just,
he's just that guy where you just,
you can't ask questions.
Like it's working for him.
Like,
okay,
whatever your method is,
it's working.
That's how it felt last night.
Because I mean,
the upside of that play was you kill 30 more seconds of clock and then kick
the field goal from,
you know, a different hash. Okay. clock and then kick the field goal from, you know,
a different hash. Okay. Instead of just taking the field goal and potentially, you know, if, if, if Jared Goffin just fell down on the ball, which was, you know, two inches away from happening,
then they just hand the ball to green Bay who just walk right down the field and score
without the points. So it was a very very it was like such a risky call but
they're this is what they are and i think that that's so cool and like you said like it's their
identity they're gonna make that choice it seems like 100 times out of 100 like let's see them do
that in january right like let's see that when they play you know or they play buffalo next week
like let's see what they do there.
Like it's, it's, I love it though.
Like, I don't know, watching the,
did you see the post-game speech and the guy puking?
And he's like, you throw it up there, guy.
Like that was, I mean, the guy's just the best.
It's so awesome.
All right, Matt, let's get to our games.
You didn't buy any, any talk to a coin, did you?
This week, by the way, I want to make sure that you're safe from losing your life savings.
Yeah, I told you I was with my tax planner before this call.
I mean, that's what we were talking about.
I've lost it all.
I staked my life savings on Hayley Welsh's shit coin.
And wow, do I regret that.
So if I just say something obscene on a TikTok in Nashville, do I get a different podcast?
Maybe.
Oh, interesting.
Talk to Jeff.
There we go.
Talk to Jeff.
I like my podcast doing it with you, buddy.
Yeah, me too.
Hey, speaking of talking to us, there's a segue.
So we're working with a company now that I want to mention they're called cooler and they're super, they're, they're super fun website or
app rather to, uh, follow along with your favorite podcasts. We're on there. We're early adopters
there. I want to push our fans who are watching and listening to go there. It's cooler.fm.
They have an activation code, Jeff. It is Jeff G E O F F. Um, we're going to incorporate
them in some future shows, but, uh, we're excited to work with these guys. And basically, if you
have a question for us, we'll be able to see it. We'll be able to interact with you guys.
If you want to tell us how awesome our picks are or how funny our jokes about meme coins are,
then please do it there. Um, but yeah, that's, uh, that yeah, that's a new thing we're trying out.
So we'll talk more about it in the coming weeks,
but I wanted to mention it before we got into the games today.
It's been fantastic to get the feedback from everyone.
So yes, the meme coins.
Should have called it spit coin, but nonetheless, let's continue on.
I stole that joke from someone on Twitter.
I'm not going to lie.
All right, Matthew, let's get to the games this week.
And I'll start writing down the ugly ones we're going to take because guess what?
Even the public wins each week, Matt, we're going back to the well, most of these games.
So here we go.
Start us off.
Yeah.
All right.
Well, speaking of Uggos, the first Ugo of the week is Aaron Rogers,
the enigma go into Miami. Uh, Miami is like five and a half. Uh, no, right. Like just no,
no, no chance. I, what side are you on though? Miami would you, would you, are you going to
watch a documentary? I am for sure. i think i probably have to because i'm
going to have to make a hundred shows making fun of it so i think that it's part of my job but i
if i were a normal person there is no chance i would spend one second watching it look at
you humble brag of all the shows i do i gotta make sure i watch something for tv for for that
um not for this show well i mean game and watch it for dozens of fans yeah i don i gotta make sure i watch something for tv for for that um not for this
show well i mean game would watch it for dozens of fans yeah i don't think you will i i mean did
you see the trailer for it yeah i mean what are we doing i want i want your take give me your take
on what you saw i just want to see what he is like. I'm a curious person, Matt.
I like learning about people and learning about things,
especially history.
It's not obviously history, but I don't know.
I want to just see what he says and see what he's thinking
and see who he is.
I don't know.
Maybe I'll come away feeling differently about him.
Obviously, it's, I would imagine, produced and displayed with his permission.
So we might not get everything that we want from his journey.
But I'm curious, put it like that.
And I watch all that stuff.
I watch Hard Knocks.
Quickly, Gabe texted me the other day with Hard Knocks had those clips of the team meetings for all
four AFC North teams and he said is this really how it is you have to sit through these meetings
I was like yes that's exactly how it is yes every team is exactly except except Andy Reid who doesn't
have team meetings longer than like a minute everyone else same thing Matt like the same
messages the same rhythm the same cadence all of that i picture
like a blue duck like a blue duck staff meeting gabe's up there just like today is the week guys
that we physically assault our opponents we are going to edit to the correct frame and have no
sink slippage in our deliverables yeah it's just like that i don't know what any of that means but
i'm sure people listening to sam is producing this guaranteed it's just like that. I don't know what any of that means, but I'm sure people listening do.
Sam is producing this, guaranteed he's laughing at that.
So basically we've spent one game talking about everything but the game.
So good start to the podcast.
Yeah, very good.
For what it's worth, I think the thing that pissed me off
about the trailer was that they alluded to this thing
of like Aaron Rodgers could come back last year.
No, no, that's BS. He's that part last year. No, he's not.
He's not right this year.
Like I'm done with that propaganda.
That was not never going to happen.
Coming back to this game, though, I heard someone else make this point.
I forget who it was, unfortunately, but like this seems like a good week for the Jets to
be on the road.
And it feels like the Dolphins like, yes, they're going to have the extra rest.
Yes, they're going to be home.
But this is a divisional game i this line was at six and a half i believe and it's come down
because i think people are sort of like yeah this might be the one that the jets like kind of
make it close so this is a stay away for me i think i would actually be on the jets here and
i refuse to do that the one thing is the sharps have been on the jets all season long matt and
it's all season long they've been failed so yes might By the way, I think we have the same pen,
if you're going to let me know enough,
which is kind of funny.
Huh.
It's a new sponsor, Sharpie.
Yeah.
Look at that.
It's the exact same pen and 3,000 miles away.
We didn't talk about this.
All right.
So that's a no for that game.
Yeah, the Jets are the Sharp team everyone bets every week.
They're like the Browns from a couple years ago.
You're like, the Browns really?
We're still doing that? The Jets are the team, everyone bets every week. They're like the Browns from a couple years ago. You're like, the Browns really? We're still doing that?
The Jets are the team, and they don't cover any of these games.
So, all right, next game.
All right, so the next game, your Carolina Panthers going to Philly.
Philly sitting around 12 and a half.
Now it's up to 13 and a half.
I don't think I'd have the stones to to take the points with the panthers here
but i think it i think it's eagles or pass i need to yeah um and i don't think that's happening
no i mean i'll just put in the maybes just because we just we both i think agree that's the right
side here doesn't mean we're going to take it uh but yeah i mean the eagles are playing really good
football they're very healthy right now i think that a bet to win the NFC is certainly worth it, Matt.
I know the Lions won last night, but they're just not healthy.
The Eagles are so much healthier right now.
Carolina's played good ball lately,
but really hasn't run up against a team that can sort of do what the Eagles do.
So yeah, I would lean Philly, but not, I don't think,
a favorite of mine for the week.
But we'll see what we have. I don't have I don't have a ton. I like, yeah.
I mean, I will say though, Jeff, I think there's been seven.
It's maybe up to eight now double digit spreads this year and the dogs have
covered all of them,
which is one of the reasons that the public has done so well this year.
I can't tell what they're trying to make you do here because it does seem like
Carolina's had this sort of like popular resurgence where everyone's like back in on them but Philly like Philly in my opinion is playing
the best football of any team in the league right now like I think their defense is way way better
than people realized a few weeks ago uh and like you said they're healthy Barkley's healthy Brown's
healthy there's sort of nothing you can do with them on offense so they could win this game by 30
or they could have that game that you, they seem to always have around this time
of year where they sort of look a little bit out of sorts. So I just don't feel good about this one.
I'd prefer to leave it off. I don't, I don't either. All right. What do we got next, buddy?
Well, we think we're, I think we're going to like this one. Cleveland at Pittsburgh,
Pittsburgh is laying seven at home. It's seven now.
Yep, it is seven.
There's six and a halfs and sevens.
It is up to seven.
I mean, sure, I guess.
You have to.
I don't feel great about it, but for those who don't know,
you have to bet on Cleveland here.
That's the have to bet.
We do this all the time, right?
Mike Tomlin is a dog.
You wager on him like last weekend.
Mike Tomlin is a home touchdown favorite.
Is an absolute fade.
100%.
AFC North underdogs cover 62% of the time since 2018.
They're 28 and 16 since 2021 uh browns eight and three against
the spread under stefanski with short rest coming off of that uh coming off a short week from last
week which is very interesting uh i believe let me see if i can find this number exactly i think
tomlin as a spread of three or more off of a win covers 37% of the time.
So this is just a system play.
It's a divisional game.
These two teams always play each other pretty close.
And, you know, I don't think,
I don't think Pittsburgh's putting up 40 plus again.
And I think obviously Cleveland is, is capable of scoring a lot.
So I feel fine about, I love the seven.
I feel like that's where it is.
Well, look, we're calling this on Friday.
We're getting the best of the number.
We're getting seven now, which I guarantee you,
this is at six by kickoff.
Right.
Remember, the Browns beat Pittsburgh two weeks ago.
Like, it's not like this is some –
this is actually a really strange line.
I guess everyone just loves Pittsburgh after seeing.
Seven's great.
I love it.
I mean,
it was just not seven up until maybe a little bit ago.
Yeah.
It probably won't,
you know,
it probably won't be for long.
All right.
Great.
One down.
Okay.
Raiders at bucks,
bucks by six and a half.
God,
man.
I don't know.
Do you have a feel here?
Well, I'm going to take the Bucs again like we did the last two weeks,
and we're one-on-one doing that, so maybe that's not the right place to be.
But the Raiders have Aiden O'Connell on the road.
They're just not good, dude.
The Raiders are just not good, and Bucs need this game, right?
They stole one last weekend.
They're tied with Atlanta now.
I think we might agree Atlanta's going to lose this weekend.
I think we'll agree.
We'll see that when the game comes up.
To me, it'd be Tampa Bay or pass.
I would imagine that with Tampa Bay,
close win last weekend, people are off Tampa Bay.
I don't really know, Matt,
but I don't see the Raiders being competitive.
Plus, Aiden O'Connell had a great game against Kansas City last weekend.
They lost in a tough way.
I don't expect him to throw for as many yards against Tampa Bay.
I would be okay taking the Bucs here.
Let's see.
The latest, the concern I have with Tampa,
obviously a few extra days rest for Vegas.
Obviously, a few extra days rest for Vegas.
Tristan Wirfs, Mike Evans, and Bucky Irving all didn't practice on Thursday.
Baker's banged up with multiple things.
This feels a little bit like, I don't know, the Raiders had some life with O'Connell.
I actually feel like I might be into the Raiders plus six and a half to be totally honest I don't think they're gonna win this game but they uh they
the Bucks run defense is their better part their secondaries had some issues this year that like
the Raiders don't even run the ball really so it's not like a great spot for yeah not a great
matchup for the Raiders or the Bucks I'll put in the maybes if you like it. I didn't thought about this one.
I don't love it.
The thing about this too, Matt, that I think is important,
Antonio Pierce is not a great coach, in my opinion,
to wager on when you're trying to cover a game like this
because he keeps a lot of field goals.
He's not aggressive enough, I think,
to cover some of these big numbers sometimes,
even though they have with the backdoor cover and whatnot.
But he's just going to like, they're going to be, I think, to cover some of these big numbers sometimes, even though they have with the backdoor cover and whatnot, but he's just going to like,
they're going to be, you know,
down six, they'll kick a field goal,
and then Tameo will just
kind of score a touchdown and they'll win by 10, you know what I mean?
Yeah. Like, that's just what he
is, so
that's the hard part about Wigdor.
I'll put it in the maybes for now. If you like it,
if you like it, I mean, we might need it.
We might, which is sad. Yeah, all right, I put it in the babies for now. If you like it, if you, if you like it, I mean, we might need it. We might, which is sad.
Yeah.
All right.
That's, I'm not going to be standing on the table for that one.
I'll tell you that much.
All right.
Moving to, oh, speaking of Uggles, man, this is a tough week.
Jaguars at Titans, the Titans, this is the direction of Jacksonville.
It's now three for the Titans.
So here's the thing.
We have to...
I know that some of these wagers... We're going to get to one later
where I just contradict myself from now
because I like the wager, but
we're either going to be sitting there with...
My head is hurting thinking about this.
Will Levis trying to cover
a game for us, or Matt Jones
trying to cover a game for us?
I mean, it's not great.
I think, uh, I don't know what this line is, dude.
Like, I don't know what Jacksonville just being dead.
Like they're just dead right now.
And it's Mac Jones.
It's no Trevor Lawrence, but the Titans aren't very good either.
Like, I don't really know.
Why would you feel comfortable back in the Titans in this spot?
They covered two weeks ago.
They got demolished by your commanders last weekend.
They're going to cover two games against the spread all season.
And now they're going to cover three,
three and a half against Jacksonville.
I don't know,
man.
Yeah.
I don't think betting the Titans as a favorite is,
is responsible practice.
Um,
yeah.
The worst team against the spread in a,
in a year where Dallas and the jets and the giants have been super disappointing super disappointing is actually unbelievable if you think about it like and the Bengals like
these really public fun teams have all been terrible but the Titans are the ones that have
been the worst below expectations uh at least in Vegas's eyes kind of kind of mind-blowing uh
how about this one Jeff we've got Saints at at the giants one oh thank god all right the saints
are now five point favorites yeah it's it's absolutely ludicrous it's we have to take the
giants we have to this is the this is the most ludicrous number of the week okay let me count
the ways first of all the the saints are in a dome team playing outside of 40-degree weather.
Check.
Okay?
Yep.
Derek Carr.
Matt, I know you have this number, too, because you're on Action Network as well as I am.
As a road favorite, his last 16 games, won 14-1 against the spread.
Listen to that again, everyone.
Won 14-1 against the spread as a road favorite.
And the only win, by the way, is in a dome,
Indianapolis, okay? He's also by the way, like 37% lifetime on that spot. The other thing that
Evan Abrams of the Action Network, our buddy, wrote about this, this is incredible. When he
faces a team in his career that allows more than 21 points per game, he's only covered like 36%
of the time, which is just a wild number, which means he always plays down to his opponent.
And when he plays a team that's good on defense,
he plays up to his opponent.
Now they go on the road.
They lose Taysom Hill,
who's a big part of what they're doing right now
because they have no one else to control.
This is 1,000% a fade of the Saints.
The Giants are in a terrible spot.
Drew Locke, no Dexter Lawrence, Malik Nabors,
hurt at practice today.
Matt might not play this weekend.
Oh, wow.
Yeah, you might not have seen that yet.
Might not play this weekend.
I do not care.
This is 100% fate of the Saints in this spot.
Giants plus five.
Yeah, nothing to add.
It's 100% right.
Let's remember, too, Bill Simmons brought this up.
The Giants every year win some stupid game
that like knocks them out of the draft sweepstakes like they're they're going to beat they're going
to win like two dumb games and then have to draft like the third best quarterback like that's what
they do it's going to happen this is going to be one of them uh bill's right on that one
yeah he said something last week by the way they that got the internet in a tussie.
It was a classic Bill Simmons thing
that makes him the best podcaster ever.
Was this his miles per hour throne thing?
No, I think it was the thing about Kobe
if he was Italian and no one knew who he was.
If his name was Kobe Brian Tissimo or something.
Yeah, it's like
the most... I like
Simmons. I don't know. People, I think, have a mystic opinion
on him, but he's just the OG
for a reason. He just sits and talks
about just stuff that like...
Just some BS. I do learn basketball from him, which is
good during basketball season, but
it's just...
I don't know. I find it very entertaining.
I also like the, the watchables, not this turns into a Bill Simmons network podcast,
but I do, I do enjoy that as well.
So, all right.
Giants plus five, lock it in.
Yep.
I think we have two, two we are certain about.
And then, then the Raiders.
Okay.
The Falcons, the Kirk Cousins Bowl.
Going to the Vikings.
The Vikings are laying six.
I see some five and a halves, no?
Yeah, I see some five and a halves.
Can interest you in the Vikings in this one?
Make it this our public play of the week?
I think the Falcons are really bad, Matt.
Cousins now, three games in a row with no touchdowns,
six interceptions in his three games.
They should have covered last weekend against the Chargers
who had four punts the second half.
And we're at Michael Penn next time.
Like, Cousins plays poorly.
He is being benched.
They're playing a Vikings team that is really good at turning the ball over.
I like Cousins by the over half interception.
It's a little juiced at minus 155.
I like that in this game.
And I think the Vikings are much better than the Falcons.
The Falcons are going the opposite direction.
The Vikings are trending upwards.
The thing about the Vikings that does worry me,
it's been a little bit of some BS football last month, Matt.
Five and a half, six
is not great.
But the bookmaker's telling you
if you say
home foot advantage here is two, one and a half. It's no longer
three anymore.
The Vikings are considerably better than
a Falcons team that's leading their division right now.
So I'd lean Minnesota.
Not my favorite um it's
super public and i don't love it but it's more of a falcons faith than anything else
yeah i i'm into it i think i agree the number's a little bit high for my liking obviously um
the the thing that's i mean atlanta looked so, like, yes, they looked just, like, bad last week.
But they looked, I just don't know what their juice is on offense, really.
Like, they're going to be, Cousins is going to be stuck in that pocket with Brian Flores' blitz.
Just coming at him in waves.
They don't, like, they just, there's not that much they do.
You know what I mean?
Like, they're pretty, I feel like they're a's not that much they do you know what I mean like they're pretty
I feel like they're pretty easy offense to figure out and their defense just like hasn't
I don't know their defense just hasn't really been there all year Minnesota like they are getting I
think they're getting a little bit healthier I think that you know it looks like their kicker
is coming back there's been they've kind of navigated that one miraculously. This one just like,
I don't know.
There's,
there's something about it that I don't love,
but I do feel like it's a smart play.
If the five and a half isn't bad,
it moved from,
I think four and a half,
a few days ago,
but I'm okay with this one.
I think,
I think there's other ideas out there,
but I,
I'm glad this one's in our mix.
Yeah.
I think it's a,
it's a firm mix right now.
Yeah.
All right.
Uh, NFC West game, uh, Seahawks. Is this still an early game? This one's in our mix. Yeah, I think it's a firm mix right now. Yeah, all right.
NFC West game.
Seahawks.
Is this still an early game?
No.
We're moving into the late window.
Yeah, why don't we take a little pause here?
We'll take a pause here.
Let's talk about Greg Morris Cards here, Matt.
We're sponsoring here Just Work to Smarten You by Greg Morris Cards.
Our friends the last couple of weeks have been on board.
You can check the QR code out on the screen right now on YouTube or on social media.
Obviously, if you're going back and listening to this on audio version,
you can go find those on YouTube at Jeff Schwartz.
Pretty easy to find there.
Everyone's looking for a few extra bucks around the holidays.
Well, what if you were sitting on money you didn't even know about?
My friends at Greg Morris Cards can help you find some value for your sports cards.
They are the leaders in vintage sports cards and can turn your sports cards collecting dust into real money.
I know, Matt, you have cards.
We showed some last week.
I know you've talked to them about the value of those.
What have you learned?
They're getting some prices for me because I actually am sort of in the like hey like what if i could get you know a couple hundred bucks or
you know even a couple couple tens of dollars uh coming into into this holiday season i this one
look i'm just going to show you a few more chefs like i don't think i showed this
this paul molliter no you did not that's a handsome fella. Look at this. This is the hottest man of all time.
Like this infielder from the Milwaukee Brewers, Paul Molitor.
Yeah.
He played with the Twins as well, right?
Yeah.
39-game hitting streak in whatever year.
1987.
There you go.
This card's older than I am.
I showed you this one.
I showed you this.
I'll show it again in case someone didn't see it last week.
This Barcelona Patrick Cuban card is probably one of the coolest I've got.
Uh,
I,
did I show you my Pete Sampras last week?
Yes.
Yeah.
Pete Sampras.
Oh yeah.
And then I have to,
I think I have like 800,
uh,
Cal Ripken cards.
It's,
this was my like childhood idol,
Cal Ripken,
shout out the Baltimore Orioles.
Just to work,
just to work with like attitude,
getting out there,
playing,
playing every single game every
day 20 plus years i honestly like most of my cards are either cal ripken or shaquille o'neal
my favorite athletes when i was when i was about five so uh greg morrison co wow yeah i love shack
and cal ripken yeah yeah mj came a little later for like i i was kind kind of not in on MJ at first, and then I thought better of that.
You LeBron stan?
No, I mean, not in 1995.
I certainly wasn't.
With that great defense, the Lakers play all of a sudden the other night?
Yeah.
All right.
Let me wrap up here with Greg, guys.
Everyone has sports cards laying around.
You do.
I do.
Our kids do.
Your parents might, as my dad does as well.
He's got a whole box of cards.
Find out today what they're worth by contacting Greg Morris Cards.
It will help you earn the most for your cards from your card collection.
It's real money today.
Skin the QR code on the visit.
Excuse me.
Skin the QR code on the screen or visit them, Greg Morris Cards.
And the Lakers defense, buddy.
Ooh, buddy.
Yeah, tough times.
Lakers fan.
No one feel sorry for me.
Please don't feel sorry for me
because my football teams
have lost one game
since Christmas
and currently my college football
and men's basketball programs
have lost zero games.
So I'm doing okay, guys.
But the Lakers,
they're the worst spot in sports,
in my opinion, Matt,
where you're good enough
to make the playoffs
but never good enough to win a championship.
And there's no upward mobility.
It's not like you have someone young and, you know,
now Dalton can explain okay, I guess, but, like,
you don't want anyone young.
You're like, man, that guy, in two or three years,
when they mature, we're going to be good again.
Nope.
Nope.
All right.
Let's get to the first the first afternoon window game matt here
and nfc west clash uh i might have some thoughts on this one yeah interesting uh yeah we can leave
the lakers conversation there i have thoughts too seahawks at cardinals cardinals by two and a half
interesting game uh curious what side you're on here. Well, the threes are gone.
I think at three it was Seattle.
But they're gone now.
So I feel less inclined to take Seattle plus two and a half.
Seattle, though, it's the Kevin Clark tweet, right?
They never play a normal game.
It's never normal.
The last two games, they have won on a pick six against Arizona
and then a defensive lineman, 95 yard pick six the other day against,
against the,
uh,
but at two and a half,
I do lean Cardinals.
I mean,
that point,
the half point matters in the NFL.
So,
uh,
that's why I don't think I have a great plan.
This one,
unless you have a side you really love here.
No,
I,
I,
I don't.
Um,
I heard this mentioned,
uh,
this could be a total play.
I think,
uh,
Seahawks D is, has looked pretty good and Arizona's
never like running up the score really. I think, I just feel like Seattle's defense has improved
and gotten healthier. And obviously they're starting to score points. I feel like this
game is about even, I don't, I don't really see an edge here. I'm fine to pass it. How about this
one? Jeff bears at 49ers three and a half or four for the niners is what
i'm seeing now uh do you have a side here um i feel like everyone's going to be on the bears in
this game and i think that's the wrong side to be on but i'm not sure i have the guts to take the
niners i think i mean it's bears or bus here
i think i mean the niners are just the niners are just cooked man like i know you're right i mean
pretty pretty even if he plays is is certainly not the same brock pretty that we uh could have
seen in the past uh new coach bump of course uh with the bears who like the bears are close every
single week um you know've had, they talk about
these crazy, crazy losses that have come down in the last couple of possessions.
Obviously, their coach is gone.
Extra rest for the Bears, sort of like the max amount
you could get here. They get the late window and they
played on their early spot in
thanksgiving um i don't know caleb's playing better like i just feel like this team is played
below their potential and the 49ers as they stand are like not significantly better than chicago i
don't think so i feel like the bears we missed you know there was four i think this was even up to
like five a day or so ago um but i think i would i would be interested in the bears here if we had to
interesting yeah i i not i don't have much on this one then if you're on the bears i i
i feel like the bears i don't i don't really know if i trust them very much but the niners
to your point are really dead right now they are dead um i don't know. We can leave it. We can leave it off.
I don't think I made that great of a pitch
and I don't think you're convinced.
Well, we'll write it down
just in case. Okay.
Chicago plus four is in the maybes.
Three games left.
The game of the week, Bills at Rams.
Actually, not the game of the week.
Second game of the week, Bills at Rams.
Rams catching three
and a half wow this came down at home i know um i still like the rams plus three and a half matt
yeah me too so this is a little bit of a situation fade for the bills here uh look we've talked about
this a lot in this episode where sometimes it's not for one team it's against the other team right
and buffalo's off this emotional
win on Sunday. Now, I get it.
The Niners aren't great, but you're in the snow.
It's a cool little moment.
They should have blown the play dead, but didn't. Josh Allen
scored a touchdown pass to himself, essentially.
You're riding high, eight-game
or seven-game win streak.
And then you go back across the country. Not back,
but you go across the country to Los Angeles.
And
you play a Rams team that's good, Matt.
Like, they're fighting for the NFC West.
And when they're all healthy, they play good football.
They're all healthy right now playing good football.
And the Bills play the Lions next weekend.
So, there's a look-ahead spot for Buffalo.
So, sandwich spot for Buffalo here for a desperate Rams team
that's continuing to keep pace in their division.
Look, better 4.5, obviously.
It's above a field goal.
I like Rams here plus 3.5.
Something that's so crazy,
Stafford is 3-15 straight up as an underdog
since the Super Bowl year where he was 3-0.
Wow.
So strange.
McVay and Stafford are 28-9 straight up as favorites,
6-15 straight up as underdogs as a duo, which is so surprising.
But I agree.
I like them to buck the trends here for all those reasons you mentioned.
Look, the Rams are one of the healthiest teams, I think,
certainly compared to how they've been.
I think they're one of the healthier teams in the league.
I agree.
I think just like Buffalo, I think we're sort of at the top of the market with them.
I agree.
Considering that they're either the best or second best team.
I'm not sure the Rams win this game, but I do feel like it's going to come down to the very end,
as a lot of these Buffalo games have.
So I'm fine with this
i like betting on the rams too it never feels like they're out of it with that quarterback so
uh fine with this one uh all right let's move to one i i'm pretty sure you're going to have
some opinions about the chiefs yeah i go ahead three three and a half point favorites at home
against the chargers do you want to go? There are three and a halves right now?
Mm-hmm.
Do you want to go first?
Do you want me to go first?
I'm in on the Chiefs.
I actually think this is a great spot to take them.
I don't get this number, Matt.
Me too.
I think Chiefs are favored by seven in Los Angeles in week three
or whatever it was.
Yeah.
This number feels a complete overreaction.
I agree.
To the last couple of weeks.
Um,
and remember the chiefs are on a long rest,
not longer,
but like played Friday.
Like they get a little bit of rest here.
The charges,
what happened to the Falcons win that game?
Like they should,
the,
the chiefs are what?
Six point favorite in this game.
Yeah,
I agree.
I agree.
I think this is just a total,
I think people are just tired of losing the Chiefs,
you know, betting on the Chiefs and then winning the game and they're disappointed.
I think the Chargers are a completely fraudulent team, as I've said over the years. I think they're
a nice team, but like a couple things have happened. I think they're a totally different
team without Dobbins. I think that Dobins was the reason that their offense could get these huge chunk plays out
of the ground game like they do not look the same with vidal and haskins and edwards so that's a
huge one and then mcconkey is potentially you know he's yesterday he was like up in the air to play
according to rapid board maybe he'll play but if he's compromised like they have no other offensive weapons at all so i this i would like kansas city i think it
up to like five and a half so i'm i'm happy with them at three and a half um i'm with you i'm i'll
take them three and a half i mean sign me up if we can find three and a half. That's the consensus now.
It's everywhere.
And I think, too, that it's just sort of worth noting
that they are sort of due to play one of these better games at some point.
It does feel like it could be.
They seem pretty pissed about the way they played recently.
I mean, Travis Kelsey, after that game,
walked off the field like stormed off the field. They're not happy about the way they played recently. I mean, Travis Kelsey, after that game, walked off the field, stormed off the field.
They're not happy about the way they played.
The Humphreys thing at left tackle
could be a big deal for them.
I think they're going to need some play.
I'm looking right now.
I think he's playing this weekend.
Pacheco too, right?
What?
Pacheco also, right?
Yeah, he's back.
Matt, you get to this point of your life with your kids,
or at least you have a kid now.
I think you want more.
I actually don't even know.
We're like, I have two hours till my kids have an event to go to.
My daughter has to go to Temple tonight for class Shabbat.
And we have no clothes for them.
Like, no winter.
Like, it's 40 degrees today.
We have no winter clothes, like winter nice like it's 40 degrees today we have no winter clothes for my
like winter nice shabbat clothes yeah so we have to go like i'm texting my wife like who's going
to the mall am i going are you going like what i buy for my daughter are you can you buy your
daughter stuff it's just like a complete shit show at all times um so i'm trying to figure out
oh geez, no,
please don't,
I don't,
don't feel sorry for me,
please.
But I'm saying it's,
it's like one of those things where you just,
it just every day,
Matt,
we're just,
I don't know if it's because the two working professional thing,
we just,
we just air on this stuff,
but sometimes it's like,
yep,
we've got an hour left.
Let's find clothes.
Let's go scramble to the mall and get it done.
Yep.
Uh,
I, I, it's not exactly the same but uh as i think i think you nailed it when you have two spouses who work and kids and they uh change sizes all the time
the sizes thing is frustrating like it is it is um especially shoes that's the business we should
be in the shoe shoe racket. Yeah.
Expandable shoes.
Now we're onto something.
Hey, don't listen.
Don't take that idea from us.
All right. We've got one more game.
It's Monday Night Football.
And the Bengals are five and a half or six point road favorites in Dallas.
I mean, five and a half.
Do we have the stones to consider Dallas here?
Well, the Bengals defensively are really bad.
Like, historically bad.
And the question is, like, are they just dead right now?
Which side?
I mean, I feel like Dallas is more alive.
They obviously have the extra rest.
They're home uh where they have
not been better by the way uh you know last week notwithstanding we say it's five and a half or
five five and a half all right okay i mean that's a disgusting bet but we can write it down so we
have four cleveland the giants the Rams, and the Chiefs.
Right?
Okay.
All, by the way, three home teams, one road team.
So we need one more.
Let's take the Raiders out of the mix, yeah?
Okay, Raiders out.
So the other four I wrote down.
I did write down Philly.
I think they're out, right?
They're out.
Okay.
Can't do it. minnesota chicago dallas
or you like or you like arizona minus the two and a half no i don't i mean let's see so chicago
chicago we missed the best of the number for sure. But I think you feel like you're going to win outright though, right?
Maybe.
I think that they've just like,
they've had some of these just catastrophic end of game things.
I feel like that team was so burned on that coach.
You get the extra San Francisco.
So dead.
Catching the four.
Let's just make sure there's not like a four and a half out there.
It's not bad. You and a half out there it's not bad
um you know i oh the other thing i wanted to mention about uh about this case that i was
going to make here uh the last two games for rock purdy 94 passing yards 159 passing yards
bad right one, one pick.
Do we just take them and just fade the Niners essentially?
I'm down for it.
I mean, I think to me it's them or Minnesota.
I don't feel super comfortable with Cooper Rush.
No, I'm with you there.
Dallas' D has been great either.
Okay, so we're saying no Dallas.
Okay.
So we either get a whole – I guess the question is which of these offenses can make –
do you trust the Niners to come alive more
or the Falcons to come alive more?
The Niners, for sure.
Yes, no Christian McCaffrey, though.
No Jordan Mason.
No McCaffrey.
I think the Bears is probably the right side.
Bears is a nice play.
The Niners are dead.
And the Bears, this is an important game for them.
And we got a Raybon on the Bears, too.
I always check that last. That think my last thing i do like oh is the best gambler i know on the on the team or not
i don't even check does he because it's been a year when sharp sharp people are getting crushed
has he been he'd been doing well this year still oh yeah i'm not sure but if he if anyone's doing
well it's chris last last month in NFL, he's up three units,
which is, I mean, compared to the way the season has gone,
it's pretty good.
All-time in NFL, up 118 units.
Shout out our guy Chris Ramo, who just moved to LA.
Ooh, are you going to snack him away?
Are you going to steal him away from the mothership there?
Who knows? maybe you'll
want him as a co-host one day and you guys can actually win some money instead of me i know we
are we are working on some of those projects well i not we by we i mean you and not even you i don't
think i think it's gabe and i know uh hank is working on stuff and sam is as well um that'd
be fun if it all works out i'm one of those people matt that um i never i've done and
this is mostly because i've done tv stuff not has to do with like media like sports media i don't
give a hope so for anything until i give like a contract like over to my agent because in this
business it just goes sideways very fast and people talk a big game and you press them on it.
The game disappears quickly.
That's correct.
True of life.
And I,
but,
but I believe like you guys are working on things.
I know you are,
but it just,
it just,
it,
it takes,
it's like a,
it's like a,
it's like a,
it's like a aircraft carrier turning.
It takes a long time to turn.
It's like,
it takes a long time to turn it's like it takes a long time to work and
also as as someone used to say about uh first round draft picks all it takes is one and then
dim tibo is a first round draft pick and whatever cole strange is a first round draft pick it just
takes one person to be convinced for you or for anybody for the right opportunity i found my one
i found blue duck i found i found my one. I found Blue Duck. I found my one.
We are 1-1, baby.
That's my one.
Blue Chippers.
The Blue Chippers.
And somehow Hank's involved in it,
so maybe it's not Blue Chip anymore.
I feel bad taking shots at Hank.
He's not even here right now.
He can't defend himself.
We know his dad listens to the show,
so I feel bad.
Thank you, Mr. G.
Mr. Groberg for listening to the show.
We appreciate your support. All right, guys,
Greg Morris cards, go check them out. Good friend of ours should be good friend of yours. Check out
the QR code. Have you felt better, Matt went on this with I've been, I've been not been texting
you political takes very much anymore. I've stopped. I can't do it anymore. Yeah. Yeah. We've
there's not a lot to say right now like cool you like you're not happy with the
cabinet appointments like yeah that's that's how that's gonna go if you weren't rooting for that
guy uh yeah the the yeah i don't want to really get into any of this here why don't we just say
thank you to greg morris thank you to cooler everybody should download that cooler.fm please
and by the way jeff what's what is our record as it stands now?
Okay, so I know there's a contest you have,
a competition you have with yourself in another show.
31, 33, and 1.
Do you, do the other, do,
one thing I like about competition
is sometimes the person you're competing against
doesn't know that you're competing against them.
It's just one of those where you're competing against someone else and they don't know about it.
Yep.
We should make it a public war, though.
It would do good for my show.
Yeah.
Not their show.
Like, me calling out him would be good.
He doesn't need me at all.
Maybe you can make it happen.
You're on that show, right?
You should be like Schwartz calls you out. your but they're doing better we have to be we have to be better than
this person i'll just say it it's nick wright and nick makes his picks and nick's been hot nick's
been really hot and i've worked with nick now for a couple of years and every year we've done better
than him and this year he's doing better than us. And he did have a pick last night. Let me see which side,
I forget which side he was on.
Nick was on green Bay plus three and a half.
So he hit last night.
And he,
and he,
and he gets a cool graphic.
He does get a cool,
he gets a very cool graphic.
I love it right here.
He's he's 30,
29 and one.
That was before last week.
Oh no, right here. So that was before last week oh no right here so that is for last week everyone should listen to what's right it's another blue duck production it's nick's podcast uh with the
sunday um but yes he does he covered one two three last three last week four a lot who's
four one last one for him yeah so we're we're, we're trailing Nick right now, but we, uh, we, we've got another game to make
up with on with him, but, uh, basically he does a gambling show every Thursday.
It's simply, he makes his five picks just like we do.
Um, but in, in years past we've done, we've done better, but this year, Nick's Nick's
had a great year and we're, we're, we're right where we want to be.
Jeff two games.
I see him every time I go to the studio at Fox
because his show is filmed the same place as mine.
I'm going to tell him when I see him on Wednesday
that we're coming after him.
Yeah, good.
I'm going to let him know.
All right, everyone.
Have a good weekend.
Go Ducks.
Big time chance you get in tomorrow night.
Should be a lot of fun
to watch
and we'll be back
with you guys next week
have a good weekend
of wagering
good luck to everyone
again
Cleveland
Giants
Rams
Chiefs
Bears
Greg Morris cards
cooler
