The days of looking through a catalog and circling a bunch of stuff you want and putting it on layaway, long gone.
Now spending money is as easy as pulling out your phone.
I mean, with things like Apple Pay or overnight shipping, you can get a gallon of hair gel to your doorstep faster than Crocs in sport mode.
But when you're shopping online, how do you actually know you're getting the best bang for your buck?
Well, thankfully, there's some great apps out there that will do the hard work for you.
So in today's video, we'll talk about 10 money-saving apps or browser extensions that I've personally tried,
and you'll find out if they're worth your home screen's precious real estate.
Plus, I'll even throw in my most favorite app that finds people an average of $395
the very first time they use it.
It's freaking excited!
But before we get started, be sure to hit the like and subscribe button.
And I know I ask for that every episode, and you're probably thinking,
man, this guy really wants some validation and affirmation.
Listen, I don't want it.
I need it.
So please, do it.
Now, first things first.
me sharing these apps is not permission to go on the world's largest shopping spree.
So let's make one thing clear.
You should never, ever spend money just to save money.
These tips are meant to help you save on things you already planned on buying that you already
budget for that you will pay cash for.
So don't go willy-nilly adding to cart just because someone's offering some cashback or a heavy
discount.
Because as we all know, everything is 100% off when you don't buy it.
And because I know the credit card bros are going to show up in the comments saying,
How is this any different from cashback on my credit card?
Well, it is different, bro.
The big difference is these don't involve debt, okay?
You got to spend your own money instantly for things you already planned to buy.
Very different.
And by the way, none of these cashback apps are sponsors.
I'm not giving you affiliate links.
I'm not benefiting.
I'm just a guy sitting in front of a camera telling you what apps I like.
That is so thoughtful.
Now that I got that off my chest, starting us off at number 10 on the list is the site that has the coolest name.
Camel Camel Camel Camel. No relation.
Now, Camel Camel isn't technically an app.
It's a free Amazon price tracker that you can use on its website or as a browser extension.
It's basically a camel carrying loads of savings on its back.
That's what it's storing in there, sweet, sweet savings in that hump.
Here's how it works on their website, The Camelizer, which, coincidentally, my nickname is SpaceCamp.
The Camelizer tracks the price of whatever item you're interested in and lets you know when the price is dropped or when it's on sale.
So this is amazing.
know, I want AirPods, but I can only spend $180 bucks. Well, the Camel Camel Camel
website will send you an email when the price drops to $180 bucks on Amazon. Pretty sweet.
They also get some extra brownie points for me because they show you the price history of the
item you want. That way you know you're getting the best price possible and not just getting fooled
thinking 70% off MSRP must be a great deal. Nope, that's a Tuesday for them.
On to number nine, swag bucks. Coincidentally, my nickname at Church Camp. I don't think that's
It's true.
They take online shopping and making money online to a new level.
So not only can you earn points when you shop online,
but you also earn points by taking surveys,
searching the web, making referrals, playing games,
watching videos, and more.
It's like a two-for-one special in a single app
or maybe like a 10-for-one kind of thing.
Now, I'll be honest, not crazy about this,
don't like the idea of getting paid pennies to take surveys or watch videos,
because simply put, the juice ain't worth the squeeze.
You could make way more with a part-time job or a side gig,
than you would by answering surveys in that same amount of time.
But you can get alerts for real-time deals with their browser extension swag button.
But one more time for the folks in the back, do not spend money just to save money.
Only use these apps for purchases you already planned to buy.
Coming in at number eight is Dosh, which is probably the easiest app to use.
And say, especially with a British accent.
Dosh. Dosh. Dosh. Dosh, isn't it?
That was a good one.
It's a bit Dalsh, isn't it?
Stop to say that!
Now there's no receipt scanning, no offer loading.
or even promo codes needed for this one.
You just link your debit card to your DASH wallet,
and you get cashback straight to your account.
Now, the downside with this is not all debit cards work with Dosh,
so you have to do some research to see if yours does.
Coming into number seven is Slick Deals.
With their app or browser extension,
you can add the item you're looking for to a deal alert,
and slick deals will let you know
when that item has gone on sale or when the price drops.
Now, one downside of slick deals
is that the discounts can vary per brand.
So you may be tempted to buy a more expensive brand,
because the discount may be bigger.
But like my mom told me every day from ages 9 to 19,
bigger and taller isn't always better.
Personality can make up for a lack of both.
Sure, Jan.
Now, what I love about slick deals is that it's community-focused.
So the community members vote on the best deals and share new deals,
so it's like we're all one big fiscally responsible and chronically online family,
the way America intended.
Next up, good old Targey, which is French for Target, I think.
I have no clue how you actually say Target in French.
You're the coup plow.
But with Target Circle, you can organize deals and discounts in the app by the amount,
so you can actually see the best deals available.
So some things can be 50% off or $300 off depending on the purchase.
But be careful here, because some of these deals can cause you to spend way more than you are planning.
So if you're only planning on buying a $10 item, but then you see a discount deal for $10 off if you spend $40,
it can cause you to add way more to cart than you planned on.
And the way I save the most is with the Target debit card, which gives you 5% off,
all of your purchases. And for the record, rewind the tape. I said debit, not credit.
Debit card. They also have a credit card, but stay far away from that one. Now, side note about
all of these apps and shopping online in general, you got to know. There are spammers, scammers,
and big data brokers lurking around every digital corner. And I want to make sure that you know
how to keep your personal info away from them. And for that, I use and recommend a service called
Delete Me. And they're one of the sponsors of today's video. Here's what they do. They scour the
internet to find and remove your personal info from hundreds of data broker websites, and they send
you an easy-to-read report. So help protect yourself from the risks of identity theft and online
scams with our friends at DeleteMe. And right now, you can get 20% off any of their plans by going
to join DeleteMe.com slash George, or just click the link in the description. Joindeletme.com
slash George. Hey, and while you're hitting the links down there, you'll see another one that could
be making you money instead of just saving it. And that is Laurel Road, another sponsor of today's
There are a great online bank that has an awesome high-yield savings account where you can earn some sweet interest.
And not only will your account balance earn 5% APY right now, but there's a ton of other great perks.
No minimum balance, no monthly maintenance fees, and your deposits are FDIC insured.
So it's time your money started making you some money.
Go to Laurelroad.com slash George or click the link in the description to get started.
Okay, back to the apps.
At number five, we've got Fetch.
Now this app is like Dosh and that you don't have to do you don't have to do you.
apply any of the deals. You simply take a picture of your receipt and it will automatically earn you
rewards. But the Fetch app throws a little bit of a curveball here when it comes to its cash
back policy. You can actually get cash. The money that you earn can go toward a gift card
or you can enter a cash sweepstakes. So while this does help you save some money, it's in a little
less convenient way compared to the other apps due to the gift cards. Now I like that Fetch
Auto applies the deal for you so you don't have to search for them, but other than that,
not my favorite. At number four, we've got I Bata. I Bata makes a little bit
makes it easy to earn cashback on your purchases, and I used this for a while to save on groceries,
and I thought it was pretty good.
Pretty, pretty good.
After you download the app or add the browser extension, you can add discount offers you'd
like to use before you do your shopping, and then the deals will be applied at checkout.
Bada bing, bada boom.
But here's the deal.
Don't forget to scan your receipt if you're shopping in the store.
With I Botto, the cashback rewards come in the form of gift cards, but once you reach a $20
minimum, you can cash them out using PayPal.
Now, beware, this app has brand-specific deals, so sometimes you may not be getting the best overall deal.
You know, you might be better off skipping the name brand and just buying generic, even without the deal or the app.
Okay, final three.
If you like getting discounts on anything from PJs to pizza, you've probably used or heard of Retail Me Not.
You can find promo codes on just about anything.
Unlike the other apps we mentioned, Retail Me Not allows members to get both cash back and use promo codes at the same time.
So when you're craving that greasy slice of meat, cheese, and bread, gluten-free food,
the Camel household. Check retail me not first for some deals and then invite me over.
Little pizza party. I won't show up, but invite me. It feels good. I've had over 40 pizzas in the
last 30 days. Coming into number two is Rakuten. Rakuten? Raka. Was this like a Pokemon that didn't make
it? I don't know what happened here. Rakuten. Whatever you call it, do not sleep on rackaten.
It's got some good perks. For example, it's super easy to earn up to 10% cash back at stores you
already shop at. Plus, you can cash out your earnings every three months and have them sent to you
either with PayPal or old school buy a paper check, which you got to admit is fun, getting money in the mail.
You can even use Racketon while shopping in person as long as you link the offer to your debit card
and then use that card to pay in store. Now, when shopping online, just make sure that you're using
the link for the item you actually want, and when you use the Rackerton browser extension,
it will also show you other sites that may have better deals. So Rackerton used to be one of my favorites
until I discovered this next app, the Holy Grail.
Are you ready for app number one?
I was born ready.
It's sweet.
No, really, it's sweet.
Some even say it's sweet as honey.
Bears out of the forest and bees out of the honey bag.
It's called honey.
Okay, honey is the number one app on my list, and it's one of my favorites.
It's a free tool that searches the internet for deals, discounts, and promo codes
on anything you're shopping for.
Plus, honey is one of the easiest tools out there.
You can add the browser extension to Chrome or Safari,
and even on your smartphone or use their app.
And when you're online shopping,
Honey will give you pop-up alerts
to let you know if there's better prices elsewhere.
And once you're ready to check out,
it automatically applies the best promo codes to your order.
Chef's Kiss.
They also have a cool drop list feature
that allows you to add products to a list,
and then it will alert you if that item goes on sale.
And of course, to add some more sweetness,
of course, this one gives you cash back as well through Honey Gold.
So if you're shopping at a certain store,
it might be 10% cash back if you purchase an item.
with the Honey Browser. So pretty sweet. Okay, as promised, here's your bonus app that can help you
find an extra $395 in your budget. That's 100 big ones a week, people. And I'm talking about none
other than the every dollar budgeting app created by our team here at Ramsey. And if you know me at all,
you know that every dollar is my lifeline. Because even if you find all the best deals using all the
money saving apps out there, if you're not sticking to a budget, it's useless. Remember how we
talked about not spending just to save? Well, your budget is where all of that starts, because it
It gives you permission to spend, it gives you guardrails, and make sure you're on track for your goals, all of that good stuff.
So with every dollar, making and keeping a zero-based budget is super easy.
