Starting point is 00:00:05 If there's one thing I've learned from talking to people about money, there's a lot of emotion around finances. We're talking denial, frustration, sadness, fear, rage, and side effects may include diarrhea. Pause. And today, I'm reacting to some videos that show exactly how these feelings play out in real life. And I'll be joined by my friend and fellow Ramsey personality, Jade Warshaw, who has a great resting React face, RRF for short, trademark. Let's get into it. Jade, welcome. What's up, George? We got you at the desk this time.
Starting point is 00:00:33 I'm so excited. Thanks for coming back. I'm awkward than the couch. Was it, because I'm awkward or the couch was on? I don't know. I'm tall, and so my knees were kind of high. Are you trying to say I'm short? Um, you said it.
Starting point is 00:00:43 You know what? Moving on. Listen, Jade, you may see a theme in the videos today because they are tied to some of the emotions you talk about in your new book. Word up. All right. I'm smart like that. He's a genius.
Starting point is 00:00:55 And can you confirm that you have not seen the videos we're about to watch today? I do not do or spend much time on the internets. Way to brag. Are you saying I do spend a lot of time? time on the internet? I'm just saying usually when people are like, oh my gosh, have you seen that meme or have you seen that? Usually I've never seen it. So, okay. Well, you're going to learn some things today. You ready? I just did the calculations and I literally have enough money in my bank account to last me for the rest of my life. And all I have to do is die right now.
Starting point is 00:01:30 Oh, that's good. That's really good. Had me in the first half. Thank you, Shani Pooh for that great content. Okay, what emotion would we label this one as? Despair. A lot of desperation here. This one is tough because he's talking about a really deep issue in a funny way. Like, if we're really being honest, it's pretty dark. He's just doing it in a funny way.
Starting point is 00:02:00 It's kind of like a financial nihilism. There's this wild cynicism that looks like, well, we're all going to die, nothing is achievable, who cares? Yeah. He's giving up hope. Yeah, I could see that. I personally, though, do you remember when you did World Future? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:02:15 And the guy had so much student loan debt, he was like, I feel like I'm worth more dead than alive. Yes. That, I mean, like, that feeling of hopelessness, I feel like is actually very real. I love that he showed it, but used comedy and levity to display that. But I do feel like people feel like it's hopeless and that there's no way to possibly get out. I mean, I remember when Sam and I had $280,000 of student loans, that was the feeling is, am I worth more? Like, my life insurance literally would pay out more, you know? It's like, that's sad.
Starting point is 00:02:49 But there's hope on the other side of that. That's my mantra. If we don't laugh, we cry. And I think Shani Pooh has really taken that to heart. I wonder if he cried after the video was done. You ever laugh so hard you cry? I have. And have you noticed that happy tears are cold and sad tears are hot?
Starting point is 00:03:09 I've never even thought about that. Have you ever cried happy tears? They're ice cold. I'm going to be honest. I don't think I've been that happy. Oh. You know? Sorry, George.
Starting point is 00:03:20 I guess the birth of my kids, there may have been a tear that was a happy tear. That would count, right? But I never, like, check the temp. You know what I mean? I was like... But you feel it. You feel it. 60 degrees. Oh, man.
Starting point is 00:03:32 Okay. So when my best friends paid off their debt, they came over to our house to hit the button on the last payment, I cried tears of joy for them and they were ice cold. Or like when my team won a championship, cold tears. But it's not because you're ice cold blood in the veins? Isn't that a thing? People do. Isn't that a thing? Isn't that a thing?
Starting point is 00:03:51 Nobody watches sports in here but me. I'm tired of being the only person who watches sports. I watch NBA, George. Calm down. That was a big thing where they would like hold their arm and it was like ice cold veins. I feel... Why am I teaching you? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:04:05 Maybe I watch too much WNBA. Maybe that's why. All right. Moving on to the next video. Almost first of the month. Time to pay my housing rent. Time to pay my TV rent. Time to pay my movie rent.
Starting point is 00:04:16 Time to pay my phone rent. Time to pay my internet rent. Time to pay my medical rent. Time to pay my phone rent. Time to pay my dog rent. So good. Oh my gosh. I love this.
Starting point is 00:04:26 I love this. I think this person, well, you know, at first I was saying that it was, she was feeling pity. she likely is, but I'm also now feeling like this is kind of like an anger. Like everything out there is screwing me and there's nothing I can do about it. So I'm angry. And instead of using my energy from my anger to actually do something about it, I'm just going to use that energy to post snarky videos. This is like pity party. I don't like this. I'm like, you're an adult. You're an
Starting point is 00:04:50 adult. Like if you don't want to watch TV, don't watch TV. If you don't want a phone, don't have like, this is just life. And that that feeling of like, woe is me is that's not getting anywhere. money, it's stupid. Nothing should cost money. And everything is somebody else's fault. Like, this just, they're just burdening me with their stuff. And I'm like, but this, you asked for this in your life. That's true. What are you saying? Everything should be free. But like this type of stuff, this is not getting you anywhere. This is, this is, I mean, I don't know if I should say this, but- Got her 270,000 likes. Got her somewhere.
Starting point is 00:05:25 Yeah, but this is the same person who, if we post, like, really helpful advice, she's like, trolling in the comments going, oh, well, if I had a husband who made $200,000 a year, I'd be doing that too. Or like, before like, if you invest, $400, like, must be nice to have $400. That, this is that person and this person is just going to be in their mom's basement, not getting ahead while the rest of us go, you know what? Such is life. I'm just going to do what I can do, and I'm going to keep rolling. Up next. I have a confession to make, and I'm not afraid to admit it. I ordered a $16 sandwich last night. It wasn't even a special sandwich or anything, just a regular deli sandwich.
Starting point is 00:06:08 And for some reason, it costs $16. You might be thinking, why would you order a $16 sandwich when you have the exact materials to just make one at home? I know. I fucked up. The worst part is it was $16 before tax tip and delivery fee. So it was really like a $26 sandwich. I keep telling myself I'm going to stop, but I can't. It's not my fault that every time I make a sandwich, it sucks.
Starting point is 00:06:37 Then every time I order one, it tastes good. What's wrong with me? Anyway, here's to you, $16 sandwich. Oh, that's beautiful. Weirdly enough, I actually have seen this video before. Of all the... Well, you talk a lot about food. Maybe that's...
Starting point is 00:06:54 And how much people waste on DoorDash and eating out, and you're encouraging people, you can learn how to make good food at home that doesn't cost a lot of money. Yeah, you can't. That's absolutely true. I mean, he's caught up for certain in a cycle that's not working out for him. No wonder he's frustrated. But he did it in a really great sort of sad boy humor way. His face alone is.
Starting point is 00:07:16 I hope this guy goes. I hope he's going places, Max the very good boy. He's doing okay for himself. I don't feel bad anymore. He can afford a $26 sandwich. So at the heart of this, he's feeling some guilt and shame. Number one, that he can't cook. Number two, that he spent $26 on a sandwich when he knows better.
Starting point is 00:07:34 He knows there's a more optimal way to be using his money. Yeah. Yeah, I think, you know what, I would call this more like a regret. Like, regrets like that first level of like, dang it. Like, why did I do that? And then I feel like it's guilt when other people suffer. Like, pretend this guy's married. And now, because his spending is so bad, now it's affecting his wife, his kids.
Starting point is 00:07:53 And now, then it's like, oh, my gosh, I feel so guilty about what I did. then it becomes shame when he's like, I'm just a horrible person. Like, you know, when he's the person who's, he takes on the identity of that. So that's kind of an interesting trail to walk down. I wonder what the emotional journey is when you, like, you go to the DoorDash app and you hit order.
Starting point is 00:08:11 Like, there's probably a little dopamine. Oh, 100%. And then while you wait, it starts to set in. You're like, oh gosh, what did I do? I think it sets in when you see it. And then you get the food. Right, you take the first bite. You're like, wait, that was delicious.
Starting point is 00:08:24 And then you finish it and then you're sad again. Yeah, emotional roll. That's how it goes. But his caption is, I'll never buy a house anyway, so who cares? Oh. Some humor-based cynicism here. I'm just like, Yolo, I can't really achieve any big goals, so let me just waste money a little bit at a time. I hate this, though, because it's just, I mean, obviously, the more you fill your brain, whatever you fill your brain with, you start to believe, even like something that's funny like this and it's supposed to make us
Starting point is 00:08:53 laugh. If this is your account and this is what you're watching all day, It will get inside of you. Like that cynicism of, nah, I can never happen. Yeah, you got to be careful. On the flip side, I love this comment here. This is super funny to me, as every time I make a sandwich at home,
Starting point is 00:09:07 my husband says, you just made a $16 sandwich. Flipped the script. Yeah. That's impressive. That's my husband. At night, I'm usually the one that cooks, and he almost always puts a price tag.
Starting point is 00:09:19 Like, at a restaurant, Jade, at a restaurant, you could charge $27 for that. Wow, he's hyping you up. Well, he's telling the truth. Find you a hype man like Sam Warshaw. It's not a lie. It's the truth. I call Sam just to hype me up.
Starting point is 00:09:30 Do you? Yeah. Like, bro, that's a $28 grilled cheese you just made. Gluten-free bread. That'll cost you. Let's move on, shall we? Yeah. Today is one of those days. I am a lot in debt. And I don't make enough money for me to be in this much debt.
Starting point is 00:10:07 Real talk, real talk from Kayla over here. That silence said more than her words did. You felt that silence. Do you remember feeling that way when you were, you know, a half million dollar in debt, not making enough? She said, I don't make enough money to be in this much debt. Yeah, 100%. I was hoping she was going to tell us what her income was. But, I mean, I get it.
Starting point is 00:10:36 I mean, when Sam and I, we had $460,000. And when we figured out the fact that we needed to pay off our debt, we were making $30,000. So that is a real moment. When you finally do some of the math and look at the reality, and you're like, the math is not math. Yeah. I stopped. I just stopped midway through on the math because I was like, this is, if I, if I see this full number today, I will give up. And I remember, it's too overwhelming.
Starting point is 00:11:02 Yeah, like we were going through a workbook, Total Money Makeover, and I stopped because it was like too much. And it wasn't until later that I went back and filled it all in and realized how much it was. And even though we tell people like, lay out all your numbers, if I had laid out the numbers, 100% we would have given up. We would have just been like, forget it. It's impossible. Yeah. And there's a lot of fear here where she's realizing, will I ever get? out of this. That's really the question she's asking or even deciding I'll never get out of this.
Starting point is 00:11:28 Yeah, yeah. The fear is, can anything work for me? Is there any hope? That's a palpable feeling. So thank you for sharing that. All right, moving on. No, because like it's really getting to a point. It's really getting to a point. Every time you leave your house, $50. Pay, buy, purchase. Payment, payment, payment. The first is Monday. The first is Monday. It was just the first. The first.
Starting point is 00:12:16 He got himself to come down and hand me 30 bands right now. Like this life. And then, and then when I become the adult, when I'm a grown up, because I could have sworn back when I was 12, my mama was buying houses for $6. Like, grandma in house, they're down payment. Oh, wow. My dog.
Starting point is 00:12:39 My dog is lit. My dog. I love it. First comment, valid crash out. I feel you, my mom. Honestly, honestly, listen, 100%. She never lied. There is no lies told.
Starting point is 00:12:54 Zero lies. She ate, no crumbs. I think they're still saying that. I love it. Yeah, there's a lot of truth to that. It feels like it's one thing after another, and you're just reacting to all the things life's throwing at you. And it feels so hard to get up.
Starting point is 00:13:09 above that and become proactive to be like, hmm, we are about to run out of toothpaste and deodorant. Let me go ahead and it just feels like you do one thing and there's another thing to do, another thing to do, and then your gas tank's empty, and then the H-FAC goes out, and then your kid's sick. Like, how do you deal with that when it comes to money? I mean, she's clearly angry. Like, she's clearly mad about it. And I get it. I think there's a lot to be mad about the cost of living is outrageous. George, you and I know that. Inflation's crazy. Real estate's crazy. She mentioned that. Obviously, wages aren't keeping up. So there is a lot of external factors out there that people have the right to be angry at.
Starting point is 00:13:42 But again, I think there's a moment, and I even talk about this in my book, there's a moment to do exactly what she's doing, which is just like going crazy. That's the I've had it moment. Yeah, that's the I've had it. That's the like shaking your fists at the heavens. She said she wants God to come down and give her 30 bands. I don't know how much a band is because I am not. I think it's a grand.
Starting point is 00:14:05 $30,000? Yeah. I think it's, is that right? It's $1,000, right? A band? Yeah. It's asking for a lot and a lump sum from God. Listen, that $30,000, that's probably just her car note alone.
Starting point is 00:14:17 Like, that's just probably her car alone. That's not even her student loans. That's not even her credit card. I see a sunroof. It's a pretty nice car if it has a sunroof. You know, something I get emotional about is when banks pretend to help you while charging you fees and keeping you broke and selling you debt. Big banks love it when you carry a balance and pay interest because it makes them rich.
Starting point is 00:14:34 So what's the alternative? Try out Fairwin's Credit Union, one of the sponsors of today's video. Unlike other banks, they're not trying to trap you in debt, that are owned by their shareholders, not by Wall Street. And right now, you can open a smart bundle with Fairwinds, which includes a no-feet checking account and a high-yield savings account,
Starting point is 00:14:50 so your money actually grows instead of dwindles. Bottom line, you need to bank with someone that works for you, not the other way around. So go to fairwins.org slash Ramsey to open your smart bundle today, or use the link in the description below. Before we jump back into all this talk about money emotions, here's one emotion I don't want you to feel. panic. That's the feeling you get when you realize how much of your personal info is floating around online.
Starting point is 00:15:12 And it's why I use DeleteMe, another sponsor of today's video. They track down your data on hundreds of sketchy data broker sites and they get removed, something that would take forever to do on your own. They even send you reports showing exactly how much time they saved you and where they removed your info from. So if you want to feel more peace and less panic when it comes to your digital privacy, head to join DeleteMe.com slash George for 20% off their annual plans or click the link below. All right, let's continue on this roller coaster of emotion. I'm financially at a point where I understand why people commit fraud. Okay, like I get it now. I'm not saying I'm going to do it, but I get it because I work over 40 hours a week and somehow still can't afford to add guacamole to
Starting point is 00:15:48 my order. Meanwhile, some dude in Miami who can barely read books without pictures in them, you know, just bought a yacht with a fake LLC and good Wi-Fi. All right? I'm looking at my paycheck like, you know, taxes, bills, rent. Cool. I guess I'll just live off hope. And, and leftovers from when I visit my mother's house. And then I see someone on Instagram and Bora Bora with no job history and three Rolexes. So at this point, crime doesn't look so bad. Okay. Honestly, if you expect me to stay ethical while eggs are $6 a carton, you're asking a lot out of me.
Starting point is 00:16:24 Okay, I shouldn't have to choose between paying rent and having teeth, right? And look, it's society's fault. The government takes half my check. The landlord takes the other half. and Netflix still wants $15. Okay, so yeah, fraud is starting to look like self-care. All right, so I get it. Fraud is wrong, but so is making me pay $300 a month to park on the street in front of my house.
Starting point is 00:16:47 Oh, that's good. Very relatable. I like his style. He's got some risz. Yeah, he's funny. He's living off hoping leftovers. He's saying, well, the government takes half my money. The landlord takes the other half.
Starting point is 00:16:58 His life's out of whack if he's paying a 50% tax rate. Yeah. And half of his income take-home pay is going to rent. But I do agree that 300 bucks for parking in a street does feel like the highway robbery. Yeah, that's a lot. That's a lot. That's a big city living for you. I was going to say he's living in a city clearly. Choices.
Starting point is 00:17:14 Yeah. I mean, again, I'm just seeing a lot of like this pointing out. There's a lot of pointing out. There's a lot of comparison. I'm looking at this person's life, this person's life, this person's life. And it's just kind of a, it's an I deserve. I deserve better. I deserve what he has.
Starting point is 00:17:31 He doesn't deserve what he has. do I really deserve this? Like, it's all of that. Well, this comment really sums it up. I can't afford to be poor. Being poor is expensive. That's a true statement. Absolutely. Being poor is expensive. Like, everything costs more. Everything costs more. And you have the late fees.
Starting point is 00:17:48 You're doing things out of desperation and struggle. You can't get ahead of things. You can't do maintenance and you can't get proper high quality goods. So you're just always just trying to scrape by to get to the next thing to get to the next thing. And if you're a person who borrows money, you're borrowing at a higher rate. Like, everything is more expensive. But it is true. There's also the other side that he's talking about is this weird flex where you're like, what do these people do that are living these crazy high lifestyle?
Starting point is 00:18:14 And he's putting out, they're probably criminals. I mean, I guess. But how about asking? Like, why not ask questions for folks? Like, the way I grew up, it's like, if you see somebody who's wearing a suit and it looks like they're going to a job and it looks like they're making money, ask them what they do. Why not that? Instead of then going home and being like, what are, people are.
Starting point is 00:18:33 are doing this and this guy's got two Rolexes. I'm like, man, just be like, hey, what do you do for a living? What degree did you need to get that? Who helped you with your business plan? Like, can we try that? It's a good word. Good word. As we move through, let's see if we can find some acceptance.
Starting point is 00:18:46 All right. Being financially comfortable is enough for me. I don't have to be the richest. I just want to always be able to eat what I want, go where I want, pay my bills on time, and live a good life. There's some acceptance there. She's going, I don't need the most. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:19:00 I just want to be able to survive plus some. Okay. Now, live a good life, that's a big question mark what that means. Go where I want. Is that Bora Bora or is that to work? You know, we need some more details here. Right, right, right. Eat what I want.
Starting point is 00:19:13 Is that fine dining or is it what's in your hand, which is the opposite of fine dining? I mean, I think she's saying she's okay with her life as it is. Like she's all right with her income. She's all right with what her income affords her. I think that's great, you know? Like, we say it all the time, depending on what you sign up to do in life, you might be, it might mean you have to be okay with like the Camry life stuff. Like I always drive a 10-year-old Camry.
Starting point is 00:19:36 That's fine. Great. Love that. Do you have thoughts on her eating McDonald's? I mean, from a gut standpoint? Yes. I want her. From a microbiome.
Starting point is 00:19:48 Well, it's just funny saying, live a good life. And then right below that is her eating what I think is going to destroy her small intestines. 100%. I think she's just like, hey, I'm content. I am so content. And I'm not mad at that. I'm not mad at that one bit. What do you feel about people eating in their cars?
Starting point is 00:20:05 Is there a certain level of sadness to it? Like a mall food court? You know, you ever just look at a mall food court and go, this is sad? This is not what the Lord intended. If I see somebody eating alone in their car and they're like, they're not where the other cars are parked, but they're kind of like... They're intentionally trying to escape. Something's happened. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:20:22 Something has taken place. Because like, good for them. They need a little break. You know what I mean? But then part of me is like, sad for them. Yeah. Oh, and if you like just stick ahead in the window to smell. the smell is not good.
Starting point is 00:20:35 It's not good. I can tell a lot about your life. You're eating a burger in your car with the windows up. If you have multiple days of fast food trash in your back seat, seat counsel. Is your car clean? Yes. If I leave, this is, my wife loves to leave me goodies and, you know, trash. When every time I get in my car and she was driving it, I'm like, cool.
Starting point is 00:20:55 Who knows how old this is? Appreciate the rappers. When I leave my car, everything comes with me. I don't really eat in my car. I drink in my car, coffee. That's risky. All right, Jade, as is tradition, producer Alex, has given me a surprise video that may or may not be helpful to us or society. Got you.
Starting point is 00:21:13 We're going to watch it, but first, I'm so excited because as of the release of this episode, you have released your newest book, what no one tells you about money. This book is truly for people who, like, kind of like the video that we watched earlier where the girl, she had tears in her eyes, just didn't know if she was going to be able to make money. make it. This is for that person because I know how that feels. This is for the person who's tried and given up. This is for the person who's wondered if they need to divorce their spouse because their spouse is tripping. This is the person who is so angry at the system because they did everything right. They took out the student loans. They got the car. They bought the house. Life is still
Starting point is 00:21:51 not lifeing, right? This is for that person. I love it. Well, we'll be sure to put a link to this book in the description. Go get a copy. It will help you through this emotional roller coaster that is life and finances. So really proud of you. This is a fantastic read. Here we go. Man quickly realizes $80,000 humanoid robot wasn't worth this. Oh!
Starting point is 00:22:12 What are you doing? That's my mirror. What are you doing? Stop. One of your units just ran into my mirror and is causing damage. Oh, I'm a little worried. Is this fake? That's not gonna work.
Starting point is 00:22:26 Oh. Oh my gosh. My wall is slightly damaged. Coatney's land-longed. The robot is going rogue. Let's say that I'm an eight-year-old, and it's just me and Terminator 12,000 here. Would I be able to get away from it?
Starting point is 00:22:40 No. Oh! Does it see me? It's looking right at you. Gary. Oh my gosh! Now we're going to be testing the robot in residential applications, to see if it's safe.
Starting point is 00:22:51 That is so frightening. Whoa. This is making me sick to my stomach. This is- I need you to cook me a meal. I need protein. It needs to be healthy. gas stove.
Starting point is 00:23:01 Be careful. No, don't let it cook. Don't let it cook. Stupid idiot. All right, cook a meal. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. It's like a child. It's gonna start a house fire.
Starting point is 00:23:12 I'm gonna go out here and play for a night, okay? Oh, no, don't dump it. Oh, that's hot, that's hot, that's hot. What the f***? All I do is clean up after you. Daddy chill. Oh, my God. Oh, my house.
Starting point is 00:23:43 Burglary test. Oh. Get back. I'm very curious if the robot can bust through the door into my house. There's no way he has a landlord. There's no way. I should be mine again. Genuinely, if this is a robot or human, I'm actually putting way more money on a robot coming through.
Starting point is 00:24:01 Oh my gosh. Breaking in. Here you go. Here you go. Oh, right through. Gosh. That, this is so disturbing. Oh, my gosh.
Starting point is 00:24:16 It's like living with the most powerful toddler of all time. The way it walks makes me. sick to my stomach. Like the way it's like, it's got like Annabel energy. I do not like it. I would unleash this on my worst enemy, but I don't want it in my own home personally. There's something really... Is that real? That can't be real. And there's no way this guy is renting. I don't know what he's doing. I don't know. I could... He's going to jail. He's going to jail. Send the robot with it. Okay. That's enough. Brain rot for one day. Oh my God. I will never. Thanks again to Jade for sitting in the hot seat today.
