Welcome to Get Sleepy, where we listen, we relax and we get sleepy. My name's Thomas, thank you so much for tuning in.
Tonight's episode is a little bit different, it's a story specially designed for maps. This is something a number
of you wonderful listeners have asked us to do, so we really hope you enjoy it. It was written
by Alexandra, and I'll be reading to you. It's shorter than our usual stories, and it will end with a relaxing chime that sounds
like this, to gently wake you up so you can continue with your day. Perhaps an afternoon nap is a regular part of your routine, or perhaps
you feel like you could use some extra rest today. Either way, this simple story will will help you to unwind.
Even if you don't manage to fall into a deep sleep, you can still benefit from taking some time to rest.
So now, allow yourself to relax.
Make yourself comfortable wherever you are right now.
And close your eyes if you like. If you become aware of any thoughts or worries, you can let them go.
They don't need your attention right now, so simply let them drift past, like clouds
in the sky. Take a deep breath in, hold, and breathe out. place in a peaceful garden. It's a lovely sunny day.
Above you, the blue sky is clear, apart from a few white, wispy clouds. You're standing in the middle of a beautiful garden. It's been lovingly maintained
with a neat lawn and vibrant flower beds bursting with life and colour. There are also a few trees offering welcome shade on this warm day.
There's no one else around right now, so you have this tranquil garden to yourself. It feels like your own private sanctuary, a place where you can forget about
the outside world, and find a deep breath of fresh air.
As you inhale, you notice all the intermingling scents of the garden.
There's the pleasant fragrance of the freshly cut grass.
The headier aroma of herbs and the intoxicating perfume of the nearby roses. There are also other floral smells that you can't quite identify, emanating
from the gorgeous flowers that surround you. Some climb up the garden wall and over wooden tralaces.
Others grow in neat rows in flower beds or bloom out of terracotta pots. They come in all the colors of the rainbow, from golden yellow to rich, regal purple.
As you look around, admiring this beautifully curated haven, you start to become more
aware of the sun on your skin.
It's a comfortable heat gently warming your face,
chest and arms.
And it puts you in a calm, lazy mood.
that's you in a calm, lazy mood. You feel like taking your shoes off and walking barefoot across the lawn.
So that's what you do. After slipping off your shoes, you walk slowly, relishing the feel of the cool, crisp grass
against your bare feet. starting to feel more and more relaxed simply by being here.
And you realize there's nothing you need to do to make it happen.
You can just enjoy your presence in this garden and the natural calm that spreads through you effortlessly.
All you can hear is the chirping of the birds in the nearby trees. You close your eyes for a moment to focus on the soothing sounds.
The bird song is melodic and uplifting, as if they too are happy to be here in this peaceful place.
With your eyes closed, you become aware of a growing sense of sleepiness.
It would be nice to rest for a while, you think.
This feels like the perfect moment for a nap.
When you open your eyes, you find yourself looking at a lovely old tree with a thick trunk and large, expensive
branches.
The bird song seems to be coming you decide that here in the shade, It's time to lie down and rest.
So you find the perfect spot where the grass feels soft and spongy and there's just
the right amount of shade.
The occasional ray of sunlight filters through the branches, casting golden patches on the
grass. And there's the slightest breeze which causes the leaves to flutter and sparkle where they
catch the light.
Slowly you lower yourself on the grass, every part of your body feels loose and comfortable.
You allow yourself to sink into this feeling of comfort and security. It's as though you're being gently held by the
earth beneath you. As you lie here, you focus your awareness on your surroundings.
Everything you can see, hear, leaves swaying in the breeze, glittering in the sunlight.
Then you close your eyes and tune into the cheerful melody of the bird's song.
Every now and then, there's a sight pause, and then they begin again, chirping happily
to one another.
The sound slowly fade into the background as you focus your attention on your breathing. When you inhale, you breathe in the fresh scent of the grass.
It's so calming.
Then you exhale and you feel a deep sense of peace and relaxation spreading through your entire body.
With your eyes still closed, you brush your fingers against the individual blades of grass, noticing the texture on your skin.
Each piece of grass feels delicate, yet crisp and strong at the same time. You rub the grass between your fingertips, savoring the sensation.
Meanwhile, you continue to take slow, deep breaths. You breathe in and back out.
Gradually you feel yourself becoming even more relaxed. It's as if your thoughts are fading and the bird's song is becoming quieter.
It's just a matter of time before you fall asleep. You're about to enjoy the most wonderful nap.
