As we celebrate Wild Sleep Day, we'll be focusing on the understanding and connection that we all have and sharing in the healing power of rest. Just as is always the case here on Get Sleepy, you are welcome to fall asleep at any time while you listen along. We'll start by generating an essence of calm within ourselves, settling the body and mind for rest. And then we'll send out that tranquil energy to the rest of the world, offering peace and comfort to all. So make yourself nice and cozy in bed, maneuvering your body into a position that allows you to breathe freely and deeply. Close your eyes, relax your jaw, your shoulders and any other muscles that are holding on to pay attention to the breath. You don't need to aim for any specific
Starting point is 00:04:49 rhythm of breathing for now. Just allow yourself to ease into your natural flow. Send to your awareness on the rise of your chest and stomach as you draw the air in. And fill your body, sink body that move with the breath. And notice those that remain perfectly still. It's likely that your mind will begin to wander elsewhere from time to time. Whenever that happens, just gently bring it back to the breath. wave-like motion of the airflow in and out of your body. This process is part of your natural rhythm. In much the same way, the Toshim waves wash over the shoreline endlessly flowing in and out with the same repeated motion. Your breathing continues to flow, delivering oxygen to every cell in your body as you inhale and releasing unnecessary compounds and
Starting point is 00:06:50 energies as you exhale. Notice how this steady process fills you with a greater sense of calm and allow it to guide you deeper into relaxation. As you listen to my voice and follow the soothing rhythm of your breathing, know that there are many others around the world doing just the same thing. Together we can all draw in the essence of calm as we anchor our attention on the breath, gradually deepening our awareness. As the peace and tranquility of this moment fills your mind and body. I'd like you to share it with the world. On your next breath out, allow your inner peace to extend out into the world. peace to extend out into the world and let these words resonate in your mind.
Starting point is 00:08:42 I am sending out peace, warmth and love to the whole world. May all who need comfort and reassurance be gifted this calming energy. Feel that tranquil energy radiating out from your core, finding its way into the heart and soul of all fellow beings around the world, gratefully accepted and cherished. As you share that tranquil energy with the world, remember that there are many other people doing the very same thing as they listen along, sending the same peace, warmth and love to you. So continue to breathe deeply, and as you draw in those calming breaths, sense that peaceful essence, being sent back to you as well. Starting point is 00:10:52 As you sink deeper into the comfort of the present, greeting the permission to let any troubles fade away. Naturally life presents each and every one of us with challenges. We have to find strength and courage at these times to overcome hurdles and difficulties. You have faced challenges on many occasions already. You have come through them and reached the other side. Your strength and courage are admirable. Those experiences have helped to mold you into the person that you are today. And you can use your trying experiences to support both yourself and others in the future. Whatever challenges you might be facing at this time in your life. Remember that you have come through many before and you can do so again. So take this opportunity to leave any troubles to one side. Rest your body and your mind
Starting point is 00:12:56 and focus once more on the breath. Breathe in deeply, filling your lungs with the nourishing air that helps you live and thrive. Then exhale, allowing your body to release unwanted tension and allowing your mind to let go of anything disrupting your peace. With each soothing exhale, sense your mind clearing, just like the parting of great clouds covering the sky, your thoughts and challenges will eventually subside, bringing greater clarity, warmth and brightness. Continue this calming cycle of breath as you listen to my voice. Each of us are unique individuals with different opinions, characteristics, ideas and beliefs. We are influenced by a number of factors and circumstances in our lives. A key factor is always likely to be where we were born, where we grew up, and where we
Starting point is 00:14:43 live at any given time. Different places and their cultures affect who we are as people. They can mold the way in which we perceive the world. Understandably, when we live in the middle of this great abundance of life, in our own small pockets of a planet covered by vast oceans and broad stretches of land, everything can Everything can feel so far apart. We talk about the continents, countries, regions, and each city or town within them. And on some level, these territories provide a form of identity for each of us, a place that we can call home. The wealth of culture and variety across our world is truly remarkable and enriching. It brings so much vibrance to life and society with so much to see and to learn.
Starting point is 00:16:15 But it's important for us to also remember just how intertwined we all are. We only need to look up into the Starfield sky on a clear night, and the great vastness of the universe is there for all to see. Depending on where we are in the world, our perspectives of the night sky will have some differences. The constellations aren't always the same, or they appear at a different angle. But it is still the very same shared sky. Each and every one of us looks up and sees. These distant suns stretching across the endless expanse of space, thousands, even millions
Starting point is 00:17:33 of light years away, can surely remind us just how connected we are. We live on a world that is truly one of us. From the grand perspective of outer space, planet Earth is unquestionably one whole connected world. Each of us deserves our place here. We deserve the chance to live life to the fullest, to live in peace and be happy, and to look out into the star-filled night sky in awe and wonder. And of course, we all deserve the chance to rest. With this in mind, breathe in deeply once again, appreciating this restful moment. Take comfort in knowing that you are part of a worldwide community, and the world was destined to support us, to give us all the necessary elements to live and to thrive. Allow these words to resonate in your mind once again. I am sending out peace, warmth and love to the whole world. May all who need comfort and reassurance be gifted this calming energy.
