I'm so happy to be here with you tonight as we go through a calming meditation about the moon. Our ever-present natural satellite that moves with all of us throughout our lives, looking down on the planet with an air of peaceful protection and reassurance. Now my friends, seeing us tonight's episode is a long-form meditation, I'll begin right away with Meg's words of comfort as we prepare to settle into deep and rejuvenating, rast. There are many reasons why sleep can evade us, even when we're tired. But one of the most common reasons is our anxious thoughts about the future. Often when we settle into sleep our minds begin to race. We're processing the day that's just ended and anticipating what tomorrow may bring. Worry about the future can be particularly frustrating.
Starting point is 00:04:10 However much we may want to control future events, we simply cannot. It's natural to want to anticipate and control the future. Your mind is only looking out for you after all. It wants to protect you and to care for you, ensuring that only good things come your way. But unfortunately, we simply cannot know or dictate what tomorrow holds. Instead, we can try letting go of these thoughts of the future, and we can surrender to relaxation in the present moment. This meditation will help us do just that. By cultivating acceptance, mindfulness, and trust in ourselves, we can let go of our impulse to control future events, and we can quiet our
Starting point is 00:05:30 racing thoughts about what happened today, or what might happen tomorrow. So let's get started. Settle into your comfortable space, whether it's your bed, your sofa or some other warm and cozy location. Once you are settled, place your hands on your belly and take a deep inhale. Relax your core muscles as you inhale and allow the air to fill your belly. Then exhale slowly. Inhale again, feeling your And then relax as you exhale. Take a few more breaths just like this in your own time. Now, rest your hands by your sides with your palms facing up. Then bring your attention to your face, which no doubt has been working for you all day. It's been sensing, focusing, reacting.
Starting point is 00:07:40 Silently thank the muscles in your face for their hard work. Thank them for giving you the ability to express yourself, to smile, and to engage with those around you. Close your eyes and let them relax. They can finally rest after a long day. Perhaps you spent the day looking at a computer screen, focusing on a detailed task. Now though, your eyes can rest and your eyelids can hang heavy. Let go of any tension in this area. area, your eyebrows, your forehead and your upper cheeks just below your eyes. Then relax your mouth, allowing it to settle into its natural resting position. Fill your cheek muscles, loosen, and check that your jaw isn't clenched.
Starting point is 00:09:19 Then allow your neck muscles to relax. As your head sinks further into your pillow. The upper shoulders also become heavy as you inhale. And then exhale into a state of increasing relaxation. Now that you're feeling relaxed, we can begin the next part of this meditation, visualizing a peaceful place. Bring to mind a beach at night. Perhaps it's a beach you know and love, or perhaps it's one you'd like to visit someday. Imagine that you've just walked out to this beach, perhaps from a boardwalk or from a narrow path. You now stand barefoot on the soft sand. It's a warm night, but the air is just cool enough that you feel comfortable.
Starting point is 00:11:08 It's cool enough that you feel comfortable. Although the sun has already set, the beach is lit up by the large full moon which hangs low in the sky. You look up at the moon, admiring its brilliance. You love how the light is so strong and luminous when the moon is full. Unlike the sun, whose light can be harsh sometimes. The moon glows softly. It seems to cradle you in its cool and gentle presence. You marvel at how just two weeks ago the moon was a mere sickle. It was a tiny slice of this giant orb that now presides over the earth. When the days seem to stretch out endlessly and stack up on each other, it's easy to forget that time is cyclical.
Starting point is 00:12:38 The moon, which is so powerful now, will appear to become smaller and smaller in the days to come. Little by little, it will be reduced to almost nothing, taking on a completely different shape in just a few short weeks. And yet, the moon seems to change so gracefully, accepting and even embracing this natural rhythm. Change is its natural state as it moves through space and time. Each night when you catch a glimpse of it watching over the darkness, it seems to you to be the most beautiful moon you've ever seen. While the full moon is powerful and imposing, the crescent is secretive, mysterious, or even cheeky. No matter how the moon appears to us, here on earth, and no matter what phase
Starting point is 00:14:13 it's passing through, it's always confidently, irrefutably itself. It's the very same moon that always was and always will be. Even as the days pass, there are some things that always remain or return. They guide us through the changing times with their constant light. As you stand on the beach, you feel the grains of sand beneath your toes. It feels good to walk barefoot, your skin connected to the earth. You stroll towards the water's edge as you admire the full moon. towards the water's edge as you admire the full moon. In this moment, you too are full. Whatever phase of life is upon you, you are whole. No matter how you may appear to others, you are complete as you always were
Starting point is 00:15:51 and as you always will be. You feel the cool water as a wave reaches your toes. The tide is getting higher now, inching forward in the wet sand. Increasingly the waves spill over onto your feet and then your ankles. The water is of the breeze floats inland with the gentle waves. reflects onto the ocean below, creating a pathway of light across the water. The pathway starts where the ocean meets the beach and widens as it extends out. Finally, it ends in a large pool of bright light, where the full moon sits above the horizon. angle of illumination is like a well lit road in an otherwise darkened landscape. You stand still on the beach admiring this shining path which glitters beautifully with the waters' subtle movements. Then you notice a small dock up ahead, right at the beginning of this moonlit path. which extends only a few meters into the water has a robot tied to it. You start walking towards the dock. The robot rocks gently on the waves. It's bow pointing towards the luminous horizon as though longing to go there.
Starting point is 00:18:51 As you step out onto the dock, you notice that the boat is loosely mored and there's an ore attached to each side of the hull. You look around for a moment, wondering who this robot might belong to. But there's no one here. You look down at the boat again and then out at the light on the horizon. It seems to be beckoning you, calling you to come and discover the treasures that may be hidden there. And although you don't know what lies in store, you can sense that good boat and untie the rope from the dock. Then you settle yourself on the bench, which stretches from one side of the row boat to the other. Pushing off, you take one or in each hand and start to move slowly
Starting point is 00:20:34 out into the water. Following the path of light, you set forth with a joyful smile and the ocean breeze upon your face. Though you have no plan and you don't know where this path may lead, you are not worried. You can simply rest your attention in the hair and now. The path leads to where you are meant to be. And the constant moon is ahead as your trusted guide and guardian. As you row, you can hear the sound of the ores against the gentle, lapping waves. vaping waves. They dip gracefully into the surface of the water, pushing through its depth. Then they emerge from behind with a little splash before rising into the air, wait for us. Your arms move in circles, directing the ores, in and out of the water. Your body moves too, leaning slightly backwards, then forwards. The robot glides effortlessly along the path of moonlight as you fall into a rhythm.
Starting point is 00:22:39 Back and forth, in and out. You rose steadily, but slowly, without any great exertion. You are in no hurry whatsoever. The water shines and ripples as it carries you peacefully towards the horizon on this bound of cool white light. On either side of you, the edges of the path sparkle. You enjoy watching the scene change as you gently row along. Although it's tempting to look back at the shore, You keep your eyes fixed on this ever-expanding path of light. What's behind you is already gone. And what's ahead waits for you patiently with open arms.
Starting point is 00:24:07 There is no need to rush. Your arms are relaxed as you row and your breathing is deep and even. A wave of tranquility washes over you need and you are exactly where you are meant to be. There's nothing left to do except release into the present. Release yourself to the soothing rhythm of the waves and drift in peace towards the horizon. Moving onward, you hear the waves lapping against the sides of the boat and the splash of the yaw's lifting from the water. You know that the path ahead leads to abundance. As it expands towards the full moon, so too does your trust in the universe and your
Starting point is 00:26:03 trust in yourself. The path ahead is full of infinite light and infinite love. Knowing this allows you to rest with confidence in the present moment. You do not know exactly what awaits you at the horizon. Or what lies beyond it. But you are not concerned. Without worry and without anticipation, you row along the path of moonlight. and forth, in and out. You're enjoying this rhythmic dance sky, and the big full moon. And you know that you are just one piece in this greater vision of Mother Nature.
Starting point is 00:27:52 She holds you carefully in her open palms. Feeling this sense of peace and security, you let go of any thoughts about the day that's past. You did the best you could. And you let go of any thoughts about tomorrow, for it's beyond you in this moment. embrace the process of your own luminous path unfolding before you. Slowly you row towards the glowing pool of light ahead, comforted by the vast beauty that surrounds you here and now. dreams. ... I'm going to go to the next room. I'm going to go to the next room.
