Me and the team really appreciate your support.
Heavy drops of rain hit your umbrella as you walk slowly through the woods.
You can hear the leaves of the ash trees high above you, rustling as each droplet lands. of rainwater run down the old oak shrunks and into the soil.
It may be raining, but you're quite warm and cozy. It's one of those spring days when
the woods smell rich and full of life. Bluebells cover the woodland floor all around you. There must be wild
garlic nearby too. You can smell it sweet aroma. The sound of people laughing and chatting
nearby drifts through the trees.
You know the paths around here well and you have nowhere in particular to be.
You pause to watch a blackbird hop across the uneven ground. Its feathers, you notice, aren't just black. There's also tinges
of purple, dark green, and midnight blue. Tiny, perfect spheres of water catch on its feathers. The blackbird looks at you for a second,
before hopping away. You get the feeling he's enjoying the woods today, nearly as much as you.
Stopping by a tree stump beside the broad path, you close your eyes and take a big, deep, slow breath.
Then just as slowly you breathe out and relax.
You can feel the tension in your shoulders and neck fall away.
A sense of contentment and great fullness for the life you see and feel all around washes
over you.
A little further along the path, you come to a familiar crossroads.
You could go straight on toward the pond, where swans glide across the water with ease.
Or you could go right down a sloping track to the wildflower meadows, where you hope you
might spot butterflies for the first time this year.
Instead you decide to go left, further into the woods.
The trees around you grow thicker, and the sounds of other people grow quieter and more
distant.
The path leads you to a clearing.
You can't remember finding this place before, but you're glad you have now.
A small patch of lush grass is encircled with more ash trees, and to one side is a wooden
shed. It's covered in creeping ivy, but it looks like
it's been freshly painted, a deep green. The door is slightly open. You wonder if there's something interesting inside.
Intrigued, you walk towards the shed.
As you near it, you see that there's a shiny brass sign on the door.
It reads, model railway.
You put your hand out to push the door and it swings open silently as though welcoming
you inside. This, you start to think, must be a very special model railway, indeed.
Inside, the shed is much bigger than it looked from the outside.
It's cool and dark, apart from a single spotlight.
On a long table underneath the light is a model railway. There's a train,
a station and beautiful scenery all around. It looks like a perfect piece of English countryside.
perfect piece of English countryside. You can see rolling hills full of sheep and cows smaller than postage stumps. On a narrow lane there's a row of thatched roof cottages with lines full of washing hanging in their gardens.
A dark blue steam engine with two coaches is waiting at the miniature train station.
Opposite, a tiny water mill and its pond stand quiet and still.
You lean over the table to get a better look at the scene.
In the village, a church with a square tower looks out onto a green,
where some ducks have settled with their tiny but clearly very fluffy ducklings.
Nearby, a green grotesque is taking a delivery of fresh tomatoes and a milk float waits down the road. On the station platform there's a conductor wearing a shirt and waste coat
who's leaning on a lamp post. Looking around the model you see the train tracks
don't lead back to the station. They go through the village around the countryside
and into a tunnel. Where does this mysterious tunnel lead you wonder?
