Starting point is 00:00:00 Howdy, Brad. Howdy, partner. Hey, you know, before this, I went and got some Chick-fil-A for lunch. Always a good time. Gets my mind right. Gets my body right. You see Dome? Dome was not there.
Starting point is 00:00:10 Okay. No one told me to go Catholic, which is always kind of a bummer. I like to have that as like a side. Right. Macaroni and then a little conviction with my chicken. But today it was, you know, every now and then during like the busy hours, they will have you like, all right, you go to like the sauce tent. The sauce boss is waiting for you in the parking lot.
Starting point is 00:00:28 It feels like Mario. Yeah. Like he's waiting for the final boss. And I get there and he was like, I ordered lunch for Isaac and I. So big old bag. Yeah. And he's like. Show them the hand.
Starting point is 00:00:38 So I, yep. You know where I'm going. You know where I'm going. So he said, can I get some sauce for you? And I've been trained now because of COVID that I don't stick my hand out. I like let them put it in the bag. Oh, it's like this weird habit I've been on. I'm just like, I give them my bag.
Starting point is 00:00:53 You and Catherine do. Never mind. So I hand them. Join bank account. That's what you're talking about. Yeah. Yeah. And he was like, how many Honey Roasted Barbecue you want?
Starting point is 00:01:03 And or no, hold on. I said, can I get some Honey Roasted Barbecue? He says, five. I was like, ah, I got two meals in here And or no, hold on. I said, can I get some honey roasted barbecue? He says five. I was like, ah, I got two meals in here. Yeah. I'll take a little bit more than that. Yeah. He goes back to the the sauce comes back.
Starting point is 00:01:13 He's like six. Oh, six. And then I just go. I was like, I literally go, just give me a handful. I don't need to know exactly how much. It's like, come on, man. OK. Yeah. From now on, you go 13 every time, every time time and i don't care if you use them all or not but 13 you're gonna be fine for the rest of your life with 13 and yeah i just don't know where 13 is a
Starting point is 00:01:35 good idea yeah have you seen that we have there's some sort of chick-fil-a shortage yeah i'm gonna talk about later do you i think you know i keep joking i make those jokes about like hey it's biden's america right but also come on we're out of gas i was at dollar tree yesterday they said due to the coin shortage please pay in exact bills coin shortage that's actually no problem i would never pay you in coins anyway but still and now no sauce what else do we need come on Come on! Ah, bless, man. Ah, bless. Bless. Uh-oh. Ooh, I think this tight beat means that it's going down. With some random thoughts and white meat too.
Starting point is 00:02:12 Midwest best friends eating fast food on repeat. So come along, let's have some fun and go ahead, get on your feet. Cause this is the Ghost Rubs Podcast. Every Monday morning we're taking back Ghost Rubs Podcast. so you did you end up how so they ended up giving you more eventually than six yeah i don't know how much you end up giving me but yeah i just had to be like just give me a handful man you're getting paid the same you know you know how like michael scott's like uh explain this to me like i was five you do the opposite but with your weight like or you do that with your weight you say give me as many as you think i would if i was 400 pounds if if you think that that person would want
Starting point is 00:02:55 how many sauces do you think he would want don't don't look at me don't look at my face i want you to imagine someone who like gets a wheelchair when they go to six flags, not because they're disabled. Yeah. How much sauce do you think they would want? Someone who, when they go to Walmart, has to have a scooter to get around, to get their, uh, dial for men, you know, hair, body wash, shampoo. Give me the amount of sauce for someone who installs some sort of rope hanging from their ceiling. That's above their recliner because when they want to stand up, they need to pull themselves up. Right, right, pull themselves up right right right give me that amount of sauce yeah give me one give me a sauce where whenever you um get a buy a new house from lukecoglund.com uh you have to install one of those things that helps you get up the stairs
Starting point is 00:03:36 okay so five i'm sorry 13 and that's what you strangle did you not hear me it's like i'm like i made it pretty clear. I love that you gave me one more and it was like, this is going to be good. Yeah. So what about six? Six. Oh man. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:03:51 I don't know why they try to cheap out on the amount of sauces, but whatever. It's all good. I got Chick-fil-A in my left hand. I got Smoothie King in my right. It's going to be a good day. It's going to be a good week. I'm feeling kind of silly today. I'm feeling silly boy.
Starting point is 00:04:02 I'm feeling silly. It's going to be a good week. I went to Smoothie King with Gunnar and Emily Duckworth recently. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. They came over to our house after they hung out with you. Oh, no way. Cause they were like, Hey, we're in the area. Can we come over? We were in the area. We were right there. That's right. They, uh, we had a little mix up whenever they were like giving us our smoothies, which one they all look the same. So that's, it probably happens to them all the time. Did they ask you plastic or foam? No. They always ask, do you want it in a plastic cup or a foam cup? I don't know which one's like the right answer. Do you think it would be plastic?
Starting point is 00:04:28 What do you mean right answer? Like for like, why are they asking? Like, I guess they're asking for environmental purposes. Oh, I think personal preference. I would prefer, I would personally prefer foam. Would you? Yeah. It doesn't sweat. Like this is, yeah. Yeah. Thanks for apologizing. Dang it. I literally never asked me every time I say whatever, whatever you want to do. I don't have any preference. Whatever you end up grabbing. That's interesting. That's shocking that I have a preference about something that you don't.
Starting point is 00:04:51 This might be the first time ever. Oh yeah. Foam cups. Cause McDonald's recently switched from foam to plastic and mean alike. Oh really? No, no. Recently. No.
Starting point is 00:04:59 A month ago. No. Yeah. No. Every time I'll get you a drink at like when we, at the old house, we'd always, they always do plastic. At the old house. What's the old house? At Peter's house. No. Every time I would get you a drink at the old house, they always do plastic. At the old house. Every time. What's the old house?
Starting point is 00:05:07 At Peter's house. Oh. When you live there. We got McDonald's every single time before we recorded. That was plastic, Jake. Maybe I don't know what foam is. Starting to wonder. Okay.
Starting point is 00:05:19 Yeah. I love that. You're losing an argument. You're like, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Okay. Define foam. Oh, that. Oh, like you're losing an argument. You're like, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Okay. Define foam. Oh, that.
Starting point is 00:05:27 Oh yeah. Of course. Oh, that's going to be your definition. That's recyclable foam. Everyone knows that. Okay. Okay. You see, see spirit.
Starting point is 00:05:38 See, that's what they do. Oh man. No. Anyway. Anyway, there's a little mix up and, uh, she like goes to hand gunner his drink and she was like, said something that was like not his drink at all. Like, yeah, I'm trying to think of like banana. Yeah. You got the cherry banana.
Starting point is 00:05:56 And Gunnar goes to drink, grab it. And he's like, oh, wait, is this the mixed berry? And she's like, what did I say? You said cherry banana. OK, yeah, that's a mixed berry. Good luck. I guess they'll be like, it's it's pretty much the same drink it's fruit and sugar yeah you'll be fine you they're they're pretty much all the same you're not gonna know the difference you don't even know what foam was you're not gonna difference these fruit yeah and so gunner's like i don't know
Starting point is 00:06:17 what i'm drinking but you know whatever it tastes fine he didn't think it was his though i mean you know she definitely said something not even close to what his order was and she's like is this mcspary uh yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah you'll be fine you're young especially when it's in the drive-thru and you get that like uh that's what i meant that's like are you sure we were indoors that oh i know but i'm just saying like in general the drive-thru then it's like it's fine i'm holding up the line yeah whatever just give me another sauce i don't need 13 this time man yeah what's up dude what's new what's up dude oh man a lot of things are new a lot of fun things a lot of good things um i went to manhattan this weekend that was fun big apple the big apple in the little state of kansas oh manhattan kansas manhattan kansas yeah not the
Starting point is 00:07:00 island yeah you and isaac went together yeah yeah isaac's older brother eli was graduating and he invited me to like come to his like graduation party and i was like and he kind of he said some nice things with it like you've you've really you're you're part of the reason i went to k-state you have mentored me and stuff and i was like yeah that sounds like something i should come to you know and so he was really kind about that and so went there with that and it was really fun to to see i, I don't know. It was like one of the last or first times I've been back to Manhattan. I've probably only been back three or four times since I graduated. Did you go to varsity don'ts? I went my second day there, but they didn't have the donut I wanted. So I was there for like one minute and I said,
Starting point is 00:07:37 that's all I was here for. Wait, so what'd you get? I didn't get anything like, Oh, like I just grilled cheese, Mac and cheese. No, I didn't didn't that's that's a late night varsity donuts okay i didn't go to the late night one i went to the next day so um but yeah i i was i'm trying to eat healthier but i'm like i'm gonna splurge if they have the maple bacon donut i went and said hey can i have a make big donut we're all sold out and i go okay that's all i was here for and of course manhattan everyone's so nice so they're like well thanks for coming in anyway like i'll be moseying yeah let's get moseying now and if i flush the toilet on them so but it was it was a it was a fun time i got to see two of my best friends jeremy and logan they're um not
Starting point is 00:08:15 jeremy logan but jeremy and logan yeah yeah i know about jake's friends um but uh yeah it was really fun to see them they're two of my they're they're two of my groomsmen in my wedding. Okay. And still to this day, even if I got married, I would still, I still put them in. Cool. I'm convinced. Um, but overall, besides seeing those guys, which they were so fun seeing them, it was like a weird experience being back in your college hometown, college town.
Starting point is 00:08:39 I don't know if you've experienced this in Bolivar cause maybe it's not as different as it was when you were there, but like K state, like Manhattan has changed so much. I bet. And so it's like, it's like, it was my home for four years. I like loved it. And I have such deep affections for it, but it was also like this weird place that's not my home. You know, it was like, Oh, this looks way different. This business is different. Oh, that, that went out of business. Like, and so it was like,
Starting point is 00:09:05 I don't know if it was just because it was a gloomy day or like, because I was like driving by myself, but I was like, maybe it's because the maple bacon was out of stock. Yeah. I was like, I was like, I don't know. I'm fine. I'm feeling it. My feels a little bit here. And so it was great to be there, but at the same time, I don't know. It was just weird. It was just, I mean, maybe it reminded me like you're not in that stage of life anymore. And like, that was weird. You know, I'm just like, man, I missed that stage of life. That was just fun. I haven't been back to Bolivar really since I graduated.
Starting point is 00:09:29 But when I go back to Stratford and like drive through the town, I'm like, whoa, like all these businesses are up. Like it's, you know, the town is growing. Right. And I weirdly, I'm like, I don't like this. Yeah. What is this free market capitalism? Right.
Starting point is 00:09:40 That's how Manhattan, like everything is growing. It's not like, oh, it's sad because lots of things are going away. things are going away but like so many new things are going in but i'm like this isn't the same like yeah and i don't know if people always are going to feel that way towards their college town or maybe it's like the first 10 years out of college i don't know but it's just it's been weird so um but overall it's fun time got to hang out with my friends with the little apple a little apple it's a good time um so that's that's new for me we we celebrated katherine's birthday on friday oh yeah friends we went she was like i really want to do something fun and so first you want to do laser tag and we looked into it and she's like that's too expensive i don't want to make our friends pay this much
Starting point is 00:10:18 i know i know well she was thinking more for our friends you know whatever and i'm like we can if that's the biggest thing we'll pay for our friends. She's like, no, I don't want to make you spend that much money. Anyway. Um, but we went to Minsky's pizza beforehand, had the gigantor pizza. I did. Okay. I think it was either Catherine or Emily put on their story and it was just the four girls
Starting point is 00:10:37 in the picture with the pizza. And they, and the caption said, can you believe we ate all this to ourselves? And then in parentheses said, and also the guys helped ourselves plus guys. So ourselves and then in parentheses said and also the guys helped ourselves plus guys so i was like oh and also the guys ate like 70 of it yeah i was looking at pizza i was like dang girls mama's gotta eat yeah we ordered one pizza for the eight of us and it was 60 inches 90 inches no that's too big 60 inches i bet that still seems too big it's it was huge it was huge either way way more believable that four adult men also contributed right it's very misleading uh yeah post but yeah we went to
Starting point is 00:11:10 there and we went bowling we didn't end up going laser tag she wanted to go bowling i saw you guys went bowling and i haven't been bowling a while i love it oh bowling sucks no way dude bowling is not okay okay no i loved it because especially we went to the lanes on Ward Parkway. Yeah. And like, they haven't tried to change that since the seventies. Like they can learn a little Manhattan could learn a little something from Ward Parkway. Exactly. It's like, it's the exact same. And it like, just felt like America to me. I was like, I was like, I guarantee you they don't have a place like this in Europe, you know? Yeah. Yeah. And like, they might have bowling alleys, but not like this, not carpet on the walls, like a 32ca-cola still costs a dollar 25 somehow this is good exactly old nasty old popcorn machine probably like there's all this
Starting point is 00:11:49 stuff that's like not fda approved anymore probably they're just selling like nacho cheese but it's like no no we're still selling that kind of like the same stuff they spray to like remove termites in the in the in the terminex yeah they're also spraying it in your shoes when you get done like this is kind of a catch-all. We spray it on everything. Okay, 12 and a half. Thank you very much. Yeah, right. Gets the termites out
Starting point is 00:12:09 and gets the bacteria out of the shoes. Why not, huh? Hey, Lucy! You got these shoes to clean. Okay, here's my problem with bowling. Great. Answer me this. What do you do?
Starting point is 00:12:18 You get done bowling. You have a mediocre roll. Is that what it's called? Spin? Toss? Either. All of them. Yeah. Sean Vandala. All of them. Um, yeah.
Starting point is 00:12:25 Sean, but Dala, you come back and you, all your friends are looking at you and you have to walk about 12 feet. I hate it. What do you do? What are you doing that time? I,
Starting point is 00:12:34 I usually, first of all, my friends, I don't think we're caring that much about how I was doing, but I think I cared more. I wanted them to care more about how, how I was playing. Uh,
Starting point is 00:12:42 usually I will know right away after I throw it it if it's going to be good or not. And so if it's bad, I turn around. I even look at the pins. Therefore, it shows like, hey, I'm athletic. I just missed here. It's kind of like an anti-Steph Curry. He turns around and looks at the other team's bench when he knows he made it. Exactly.
Starting point is 00:12:56 You look at your friends when you know you missed it. Yeah. And I do a quick clap, like a quick frustrated clap. Like this. Every time? No, probably not. Oh, okay. But the real bad ones. You know, like a quick, like frustrated clap, I guess. Every time? No, probably not. Oh, okay. But the real bad ones, you know, like I'm trying to hit one pin.
Starting point is 00:13:10 Like a true dad. I just missed it. Yeah. Dadgummit. Yeah. Dadgummit. So, yeah. So you just, you just don't like the public.
Starting point is 00:13:17 I don't like the walk back. Okay. Cause I'm not, I'm not going to like celebrate. I'm not going to go too high or too low based on my bowling performance. I'm just trying to get back to my seat. Right. But I've got about 12 feet and it's like, I'm not, I want to just play. Hey, I'm not going to celebrate. I'm not going to go too high or too low based on my bowling performance. I'm just trying to get back to my seat. But I've got about 12 feet, and it's like, I want to just play it cool. Hey, I'm just walking. I'm just walking.
Starting point is 00:13:30 But then I'm like, am I trying to play it too cool? Do I look too serious? Am I with my friends at bowling? Maybe I should smile a little bit. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But I didn't bowl that great. I'm not happy that I bowled that. But also, I don't care.
Starting point is 00:13:40 Right. I just think about it too much. It's like some of the only social anxiety I've ever felt. Really? It's like getting done bowling and walking back to my seat wow yeah i i have never thought twice about my clap now i will of course yeah you should do the twirl hate the twirl do you ever do the thing back in the day we used to love this in college like when someone's they just bowled and they're they're watching their you know where i'm going every time yeah you go up and
Starting point is 00:14:01 oh wait no no wait what do you do i thought oh this is way better you go ahead i was talking about like when they think they missed and then you all freak out like oh and then no they're still looking at the pins and like you you wait after a couple frames and see who's like a back peddler like who will still like be watching the pins as they start to like kind of walk backwards before they turn and what you do you got your quiet little uh bowling shoes on you know you pop your dead silence right that's a gaming reference some people out there are gonna love it you pop dead silence and then you go up behind them and you get on all fours and you kind of make a little tabletop and then as they backpedal they just fall over you and boy is it fun oh so you don't even have to push them over they just like they
Starting point is 00:14:38 fall over you yeah i'm pretty sure i have a video on my phone i'm doing that to lindsey porter in 2013 patreon this week and then you're like well yeah you kind of blame them for it like what are you doing like i was i was just trying to get i lost my contact yeah right i'm down here looking for it what are you doing oh you're going yeah yeah that's a classic oh that's good love tabletopping people this this bowling alley as old as it was they did upgrade their like machine like computer screens and stuff okay tv screens and you could do different game modes and so the guys just did normal stuff until the very end we did like a who can throw it the fastest and so we just were hucking it down there and harrison got it like i think 25 miles an hour or something that's crazy yeah what size
Starting point is 00:15:14 ball oh that was a thing like i started and i was like i guess we're just gonna all use like size 13 what we've been using the whole time whoa size 13 pounds so i i hope that medicine i hope that 13 didn't feel too good on the fingers and everyone else was like why are you doing that why aren't you using the smaller one i was like well i guess i just thought we were all whatever and so i think it was like a seven pound six pound something like that pretty light but still it was awesome especially since he's left-handed it just looked nice look here and he got a strike i think or maybe peter got a strike with his really hard throw hey athletic friends you know what else one last thing that uh perturbs me i'm not gonna use the i word but about bowling is you know i'm trying my best i bowl about once every 11 months i'm not great at
Starting point is 00:15:54 the sport i go in i try you know i'm trying to go straight back straight forward like i'm like i'm putting or like i'm you know serving in volleyball or something yeah just trying to like okay this is not that hard just throw it straight and And then I hit like three of the 10 pins. There's seven. I'm still left. I know I did bad. My friends know I did bad. What I do, I sit down and I see this jack wagon of like an animated pin being like, oops, you missed me. Oh, I dodged that one. I got to look at this guy on the TV screen from 1984. Make a fun of me. It's always like, we're open or something like that. Just missed us. Oh man, I got to look at that guy.
Starting point is 00:16:30 Just rub it in my face. Don't look up. Just down with the clap. You have a short memory to bowl like a quarterback. You got to forget that interception. I love it. So this bowling pin with hands is just taunting me. Just all the different cartoon clip art that you could think of.
Starting point is 00:16:43 Gosh, yeah. That also bothers me. Okay, well, I'm sorry for triggering all these emotions down with bowling okay do not go bowling with jake give me on the pickleball court yeah exactly or golf course yeah you've been playing some golf yeah i just filled you in on this off the pod but yeah trey gave me and himself the day off tuesday just because we normally just as soon as we get back from touring we just get right back to work which we did mond just as soon as we get back from touring we just get right back to work which we did Monday as soon as we landed we went straight to Trey's house we shot a video and did a podcast well oh my goodness excuse me uh he was like I kind of think about it
Starting point is 00:17:15 we should probably like rest more and uh especially because we worked all weekend okay so he's like you take Tuesday off and so I was like I was like man I'm gonna get like a bunch of editing done Tuesday I'm gonna catch up and then I woke up and i was like no he said to take the day off rest so i did for two hours and then we got done with top golf and isaac was like should we go to a real golf course and so we did then we went to a real golf course for two hours and then four hours after that i was at sky zone with the duckworths and it was a big day it was a big off day yeah it's a fun off day though it was like you get recharged probably with people. Exactly. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:17:45 It was like, if I was nine years old, it's like, what do you want to do? If you have a day to do whatever, I just did all of it. A little Jakey. What do you want to do today?
Starting point is 00:17:51 I want to have a smoothie, macaroni bites. I want to play sports with my friends. What if you had to choose top golf or regular golf? What are you choosing? Top golf. Really? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:18:01 It's nice. It's macaroni bites. So good. They don't have those on the, on the ninth hole of the minor park wherever you went yeah so um that's good anyway so tell me more about south carolina what what okay yeah what do i need to know about south carolina um thank you for asking a few things met some ghosties which is fun a girl that we've mispronounced her name for forever finally got to meet her in person do you know but yeah yeah no okay okay are we pronouncing both names wrong
Starting point is 00:18:25 don't tell me i didn't ask so i i didn't like clarify i like the ignorance of just knowing her name is danielle but now oh but she didn't say like you're mispronouncing my name no i just assume there's no way we're nailing it yeah we are yes we are let us know if we're nailing your name we're not now uh she she's bought like multiple rounds of merch. I keep seeing her name pop up. Janelle Vignell is a Bible. Janelle Vignell is a Bible. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:18:49 It's just evolving and not even. And I saw that she left us a YouTube comment. Who? Oh, sorry, Janelle Vignell. Okay. Left us a comment. And I think put something on her story like, hey, any other ghosties who follow me?
Starting point is 00:18:59 Like we trying to road trip or like find flights. Oh, really? That came from Janelle Vignell's Instagram. Janelle Vignell did that? Yeah. Oh, wow. I mean, she must just bring honor to the whole family right like mama meow she was at the uh at the show she had like five friends with her and some of them might have been a part of the family but i don't know all of y'all bunch yeah it could have been wow i don't know way
Starting point is 00:19:23 and honestly i don't remember some of the girls names it could have been. Wow. I don't know. No way. And honestly, I don't even remember some of the girls' names. It could have been a Dion there as well. I don't know. I don't remember. There's no way, no. There's no way. There's no way to tell. Oh, gentlemen, yeah, we love you.
Starting point is 00:19:35 Oh, it's so fun. Oh, I'm feeling silly. I'm feeling silly today, huh? Oh, that's funny. Mary of Kansas on your feet uh anyway so yeah
Starting point is 00:19:47 she was at the show which was fun she wore a just drinks shirt which was cool yeah uh and yeah
Starting point is 00:19:52 her and her friends were a lot of fun and then I didn't even know like usually people like hit me up or message message me on Instagram
Starting point is 00:19:59 message us on Patreon like hey I'm coming to the show and then I make sure to like say hi to them afterwards I didn't know anyone was going to be at the like sunday show or whenever that was i just happened to be like outside on my way to the bathroom and then two women stopped me and they're like hey
Starting point is 00:20:12 we're uh valerie and veronica we're huge ghosties oh nice killer bees and i was like you guys look familiar and like we were in the like episode 100 video i was like that's where i've seen you no way which one or um do you remember did they do anything crazy in the video or they just sing they i i don't know i didn't know if like there are certain people in there like there was that was the girl with the sheep or something like that nothing could have been cheap girl i don't know i don't remember jim and y'all was also in the video jim and y'all was in the video yeah with with bo ellis i mean youtube video yeah but it was fun because that was the day you were doing the uh one of the many fun instagram story like promotions we've done this week that was the day i think you were what was the very
Starting point is 00:20:51 first one you did on the story where it's like if you tag us or if you buy merch i'll do this oh just like 90s song or like hip-hop songs from our childhood that i like i think it was that one yeah uh but i was on saturday night okay that sounds right then so that was uh um veronica was like one of the people she's like i just bought merch from you like two hours ago no i was like oh yeah i saw but yeah your name sounds familiar yeah that's fun this is kind of cool i didn't know you guys were gonna be here like thank goodness i went to the bathroom right now i've said that all of my life oh yeah that's a common thing uh so it was fun running into some ghosties um a girl named anna okay uh she made me put her my
Starting point is 00:21:26 hand on her pregnant belly and we took a photo together yeah first time it was first time for me i don't know if it was her first i didn't ask but it felt all right did you forget it or do you never forget your first uh so far i've not forgot good and i remember that i'm original y'all and i remember the power piece did she wait till you uh like could feel a kick like no hold on leave it there leave it there hold on let me see if i can get them what's like the most awkward thing yeah is that is that what you do like hey do you mind if i just like wait until like is it is the kicker like is it a is it a soccer player kind of thing like can i can i just keep it here for a second right or left footed yeah if she would have been a ghosty i wouldn't have done it because i've gotten some other weird offers for like pictures and i've
Starting point is 00:22:01 said no to them before yeah like a girl wanted to give me a piggyback ride in phoenix or no i think wanted me to give her one either way i was like i mean there was a lot of people like also waiting for pictures and like i don't want to set the standard like oh go but take a crazy goofy picture with jake he'll do anything and there's no like piggyback ride and like joke in your in your stand-up it's not like if it's like oh i get it yeah it's a piggyback guy unless you've incorporated piggyback right they are not a part of my set right now okay okay maybe but uh yeah and i've also have you ever seen those things i've seen them like they're kind of like tweets that go viral viral every now and then like shout out to keanu he's been a real one since whatever keanu reeves for
Starting point is 00:22:39 decades now anytime he takes a picture with women like every now and then you can see like if the picture is wide enough or his arms are long enough instead of like having his hands on them or like anything like that you can sometimes see he has a closed fist and it's like off their back and it's just like uh i think it's a respect thing i think it's also like no one could say anything that i ever touched anyone this way and so i've always thought about that when i take pictures with people yeah and so the idea of a piggyback ride, I'm like, seems dangerous. You can't really hold them with clenched fists. It's like our skin is going to touch.
Starting point is 00:23:09 I think so. Yeah. From what I know. Yeah. So I just try to be like above reproach, even like in that area. I think you go one step further. You don't smile at them. You don't really like like you can just state facts and that's it.
Starting point is 00:23:21 Like my name is Jake. My real name is Jacob. Yeah. I'm 5'10". Yeah. As far as I know. But when's the last last time adult really measures themselves how tall are you you know what let's just take the picture yeah we take a picture now thank you yep i'm i'm not smiling and then on your way this has been jacob's picture time thank you yeah no i'm trying to make
Starting point is 00:23:39 who doesn't smile oh wait i said the comedian that doesn't smile once again i said canadian i was like no maybe almost we don't know justin bieber's canadian he's from stratford so that's close that is really close thank you stratford upon avon right what's up i think that's where shakespeare's rubbing okay england uh anyway okay but like the actual shows okay yeah so that was the fun part you got to meet a lot of ghosties yeah the shows for the most part went great there was one uh night where trey like listened to my set and he was like dude that was like that ending was crazy oh wow and i i noticed it too i think it was like i don't know if it was the best like front to back set i've ever done oh but this was the one you were there you remember you were in the audience it was the show she was at it just like
Starting point is 00:24:23 the way it ended so strong and with like a really solid punch line and i brought it back to like a guy in the audience from the beginning they just like went back to back really well i was gonna say what differentiated it but yeah it was something with the guy in the audience and it was just like so i think that was the loudest moment of like laughter slash applause i've ever got because it was right at the end like two big jokes my name is jake tripple thank you guys for coming yes right and now that i'm like featuring like i don't have to introduce trey i just like i get to say my name and then i'm off the stage bounce out yeah and it feels so good right so that was a fun weekend too like we had a there was a host comedian he would do five minutes and bring me on for me to do like 15 20 okay that was just it's a lot of fun yeah dude
Starting point is 00:24:56 uh people already warmed up there's less like food and drink orders happening while i'm performing it's just right that was fun they're actually watching you rather than being distracted by getting settled in. Really only two stories, one about comedy that happened. I feel like something happened and I I don't know if it was adequately laughed at. So this is me using my platform on the podcast to say, OK, I think I deserved more than this. It was the very final show Sunday night and I'm doing a little crowd work and there's no guys in the front row uh which is kind of rare usually at least one of them and so i'm having to go back to like the third fourth row or so to like talk to a guy that i want to talk to and um tough to
Starting point is 00:25:34 see that guy it is tough to see that guy yeah yeah but uh i could see he's a fella i nailed that okay which would have been you sir in the beard oh i'm sorry natalie oh okay oh my fault teddy geiger did you hear about that did you see those comments oh my gosh dude they're like jake wasn't too far off when he said he likes to try on women's skin i was like i was like justin didn't put teddy geiger in the end i was like i want to listen to that song so i looked looked her up on spotify i was like teddy geiger anyway sorry isa geiger yeah oh my gosh yeah anyway sorry go ahead found this guy third row so found this guy
Starting point is 00:26:05 and i'm like all right we don't have any uh fellas up front here but we got a guy over here you sir what's your name and he says rich and then instantly i go if you're rich when you be in the front row hey and then it was like a couple laughs yeah i was like come on clearly i we didn't plan that his name's rich um so yeah that was kind of interesting uh what well i'm gonna say it i mean edit this out if it's not appropriate what if uh you're like why aren't you laughing at my joke rich more like a dick to me seem like more like a dick yeah yeah i don't know if if yeah i'm saying it was richard i think i can go for that more surely rich is richard i don't know no he didn't say richard okay whatever either way uh and then trey was like dude i wonder if that's one of the
Starting point is 00:26:49 things were like if you would have paused if you would like just breathe for like two seconds and then said the same exact thing if it would have been funnier oh yeah you know just like it like it happened too fast too quick like yeah like people didn't process that he what he said first and like yeah i'm sure it's like there's a learning lesson a little bit like even if something comes to mind immediately oh yeah you let it breathe a little bit timing yeah one way or the other probably right don't you not too fast but not too slow yeah yeah so i was excited i mean instant name pun yeah yeah i got like little to no feedback on it so that's something yeah i'm trying to think of yeah how you could have done it better but i think
Starting point is 00:27:22 that's perfect sunday night also to be the toughest night for comedy. It was interesting. It was very young. Like normally, Trey's crowds are there's a pretty good mix. There's some young, there's some middle aged every now and then you get. What was that one's name who came with that? Who came with Spencer? What was her name?
Starting point is 00:27:40 Kathy? I don't know. Dang it. Whatever. Go see. You guys remember. Yeah. But this was and I think that my theory,
Starting point is 00:27:46 which I think makes sense, is that... Tracy. Was it Tracy? Tracy! Yeah, without a trace. Yeah, yeah, yeah. My theory is that because the first four shows that we can sold out really quickly, millennials are oftentimes not on the ball as much as Gen X or whatever. So it's like all the millennials
Starting point is 00:28:00 procrastinated and like, okay, we only show left to Sunday night. That could be. It was an interesting show like so many cell phones recording even me i mean i'm gonna say which i can see seven different cell phones recording me which one you're not supposed to do and two i'm just like just enjoy it i'm not famous enough for you to be recording who cares just like you know just enjoy it whatever they're recording the whole time or was it like for instagram i think just like a quick look who i'm seeing or whatever trey was like he's like there is a woman who recorded all my entire set he's like i'm gonna see a youtube video tonight this is trey's entire 60 minute stand-up special um so that was interesting so very young crowd you
Starting point is 00:28:33 know even when trey's doing his crowd work like we got any uh young moms in the house or whatever there's like none it's like anyone you don't have a mom you guys have heard of moms though right for these next few jokes right uh but no it was fine it was good uh one thing i want to mention just because it was um it was a uh monumental night maybe late show saturday night late show you know i'm not even going on stage for about 10 p.m and afterwards i just had a couple things happen to me that have never happened before in my life and part of me doesn't want to give this attention it's almost like when we you know make serial killers almost like celebrities it's like should we maybe stop like honoring the the mass murderers and like maybe stop giving them i'm excited you're gonna parallel to uh serial killers that was me
Starting point is 00:29:18 that was not the best like analogy i understand what you're saying like don't glorify bad things i don't want to yeah like encourage this kind of behavior okay so i will not laugh occasionally i might get some i don't know how to say this just like piggybackers i might get some piggyback ride offers on instagram after a show okay that's somewhat common okay but what happened to me saturday night was back to back in person and like weird vibes. Okay. So, um, yeah, obviously I wouldn't tell us if it just, if it was like,
Starting point is 00:29:48 this is kind of crazy, but it's like, I think there's some humor in this. This is kind of interesting. So the first one is I'm talking to a family. There's a, there's a girl who I know from Greenville. She brings her boyfriend, her parents.
Starting point is 00:29:56 No, I'm anywhere. Oh yeah. I'm anywhere. So she's there, uh, with her boyfriend, mom and dad. And we're just talking. It's like nice to see them and chat with them and then one girl comes up and i won't even try to get
Starting point is 00:30:12 into the context of like what she necessarily said but i said a joke in my set and then trey calls back to it during our like duet improv so it's like a pretty great joke that he called back something i did like you know an hour ago yeah and it involved like well you know the joke because you've seen my set it involved like the airbnb that i'm staying in like in uh town or whatever yeah i did that like i was staying in south phoenix it's kind of a sketchy place yeah yeah yeah anyway and so while i'm talking to this family this woman comes up like grabs you by the shoulder and like whispers in my ear is like so was trey serious about coming back with you to the airbnb and i go oh no uh you know we were just you know joking up there like
Starting point is 00:30:52 hey thanks sir because she was like the girl we like serenaded and i was like oh that was just like a a bit we do like every show just like thanks for being a good sport she was like okay so it's not like it's like that's not like available or i don't know what she said exactly that's not like a real offer and i literally just said no thank you i'm just like no thank you i don't think so and i mean this is right in front of this family right and then this family is just like i think i know what that was about like they couldn't hear what she said but they could hear me be like they got the context yeah warning warning i'm like no thank you we were just joking.
Starting point is 00:31:25 Oh, boy. So that was interesting. Yeah. And then what is really special is 90 seconds later, this big old security guard who I hadn't talked to all weekend because it's a Trey Candy show. We don't have security issues. Yeah. You know, everything's fine. He comes up to me.
Starting point is 00:31:39 Big old scary guy. Hey, my man. Good. Talk to you. And I'm like, oh, yeah. Yes, sir. Am I in trouble? How can I help you? He'm like oh yeah what's up sir am i in trouble how can i help you he's like uh i think you uh you left these glasses he's like he's like kind of
Starting point is 00:31:49 like shielding his body to the family i was talking to and he's like holding these glasses yeah i think you left these uh glasses uh back behind like i don't have any guys i'm just i'm just kidding with you man i'm just trying to get you away from those people and i'm like oh no i know them like i want to yeah uh i want to talk to them he's like uh actually well it's not about getting away from those people it's about getting closer to those people and he points over and there's these two women like he's trying to he's trying to hook you up with these girls yeah it was interesting it was weird he's like i'm trying to get you to talk to those two and it's like these women not dressed as if they're going to trey kinney comic show like
Starting point is 00:32:22 dressed like it is like david guetta in las vegas or something like it is like yeah i mean the the avicii reunion tour that would be tough to do the dj tiesto reunion tour dang it i knew i knew it i meant i didn't mean reunion i meant like honorary shut up feeling silly the uh avicii descending down and reuniting with all of us to her yes and so i'm like oh it's all good i don't know them and i know them i'd rather just talk to them he's like he like passed me on the bag he's like my man i'm telling you you're gonna want to talk to those girls over there i'm like i this is already i just got done with brandy yeah and now this this just feels weird i'm trying to talk to this family they came all this way and that was like mark cuban's daughter and they were like trying to like offer you a tv show deal or
Starting point is 00:33:07 something seriously these girls are the legit you're gonna want to talk to these girls package you've heard of ethereum right they got something eight times better right than anything is selling on coinbase right now um so i'm like all right yes sir i just go over and talk to him and i'm trying to be polite oh you enjoy the show great thanks so much for coming and they offer a couple things of where we should go afterwards and i'm like oh uh you know trey's wife is here with which i was a fun part of this oh yeah trip katie came and got to see one show it's like i think we're all gonna go out to like dinner afterwards so i don't know what our plan is afterwards you know it's like and then i'm starting you know i'm starting to like get out of it the finger guns come out i start finger gunning like a madman
Starting point is 00:33:47 you start walking back as you're doing it hey no thank you good seeing you huh thanks for coming why don't we throw a t-shirt on and uh talk about this in public somewhere yeah ghostrunners.life i can get a strabbered homecoming tea that's right talk about it later it's on finger gunning like my life depends on it and i'm like you know no thanks uh but you know thank you for the offer so i think security guard could tell that it's this is taking too long or i don't know what yeah he loops back and he's like so are we good here uh jake you going with them you want me to escort you guys out i'm like no like that's i don't know how stuff normally works security guards missing it all yeah and i just got weird vibes like the first thing i thought of is
Starting point is 00:34:28 it this is a little extreme it reminded me of the movie taken so it's an interesting reference but you know like you find out that like the cute french guy on the street who's like uh taxi here so dang expensive want to share yeah and you find out that he's like in on it i feel like i'm like is something happening here like is the security guard like a pimp? Is he getting like a cut? Like, is there any kind of exchange of services going on that I don't know about? Sure. Do these girls just do this every weekend?
Starting point is 00:34:51 Oh, yeah. Does the security guard do this every weekend? They're the comedy tour. Am I the first person to finger gun my way out of this? All those hot comedians, you know? I had my jean jacket on. So, I mean, that was probably why I was carrying it. I would say so.
Starting point is 00:35:03 But, oh, it just, like, I felt like I needed to call my mom afterwards or something i got back to the green room it's gonna be okay and trey and katie both were like jake are you okay like it was on my face afterwards they're like you seem like i was like yeah i'm just still processing like it just made me feel uncomfy and just like yeah anytime a girl does any kind of like being too forward is kind of just scary to me yeah girl whoa whoa guy yeah this isn't how it's supposed to go yeah i'm not used to this yeah one yeah this is uncharted territory which makes you feel for girls because that's what happens to them all the time all the time yeah i think it was mainly had it just been them and just them being
Starting point is 00:35:41 you know they didn't necessarily do anything wrong it was a security guard that like sketched me out i was like he really wants this to happen right more than they do i think i don't know like he gets excited when you get excited trust me you're gonna want to talk to them and then yeah just like i don't hang out no matter where like i'm trying to make a man was that the same uh show that the green room was like yes like open to everybody pretty much yeah so it was that show so the other two nights so it was interesting they opened they decided that trey kennedy sold out weekend they were going to open the nightclub that they'd been building beneath the comedy club so like saturday night where this is becoming a nightclub and so friday and sunday our green room was like the vip
Starting point is 00:36:20 area of the the nightclub so it was like this cool overhang like i think we're yeah vips and the dj so it was pretty sweet we had you know couches and all this area and it's saturday night was like the vip area of the the nightclub so it was like this cool overhang like i think we're yeah vips and the dj so it was pretty sweet we had you know couches and all this area and it's saturday night was like smaller than a janitor's closet so hot in there and no bathroom the only way to go to the bathroom is through all the people so you'd be very strategic like trade didn't go to the bathroom for hours yeah and it sucked for him your cup yeah because he's just in the middle of my set he's just gonna walk through and we're just gonna like go crazy like exactly oh my gosh exactly so oh that's tough uh it was funny too i mean it wasn't too bad when i was on stage but by the time trey's up there you know 10 30 10 45 you know he's doing sets you know uh you know me and my grandpa are pretty different like kind of here like the music underneath it's kind of like when you go uh to like a movie like and you're going
Starting point is 00:37:05 to kind of a quiet movie yeah and next to you it's like a war movie or something and every once you hear this that was a great sound effect it's not like it's obviously not like obvious what it is but you can just hear some kind of reverberating thing going on next to you like dude do some more war movie is playing next door to me sound effects you know because it's kind of like how are you doing it's kind of like vibrating barely like it's kind of vibrating the walls a little bit like this is phenomenal oh it was like a it was like a cat's on my lap while there's a war movie going on next to me there's a little bit of like a yeah it's like nails are getting into my skin a little bit like you're just watching some like nice little like i'm watching marley and Me Too. The King's Speech.
Starting point is 00:38:06 All of a sudden, next door. It's just subtle enough where you know it's over there. It's not obvious. Oh, that's so funny. Well, I'm glad that it went well. What's next city? What's next stop? We are going to Spokane, Washington.
Starting point is 00:38:21 Okay. Here in about three weeks, three, four weeks. Will you make a joke, please, about the Spokane word? Oh, Washington. Okay. Here in about four, three weeks, three, four weeks. Will you make a joke for, please about the Spokane word? Oh, sure. Okay. Okay. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:38:31 Spokane word. Okay. That sounds funny. I couldn't barely even get out without laughing because I'm like, that's pretty good. Spokane word. Spokane word. And if it doesn't do well, let me know and I'll pay you $5. I'll FaceTime you. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:38:41 Oh, that actually reminds me about paying you money. I have, I have a game for you that you can win money on oh okay okay okay so first of all merch just just blowing off the shelves right now it's been amazing it's been so fun it is phenomenal and yeah we've been doing some really fun things with like instagram story shout outs and we obviously shouted people out last week um yeah brad did a thing he said if you buy merch in the next i don't know how long it was. I just said the first 10 people to buy merch. Oh yeah.
Starting point is 00:39:08 The next 10 people to buy merch. I will give you a shout out on our story alongside a random picture of Jake and my camera roll. That was pretty fun. That was fun. I bet that was fun for you. Like what kind of pictures does he have? Cause you can do that thing, you know, where you can just like face identify by faces. Yeah.

So I first came to Edward Jones with a great deal of trepidation when I first met with my advisor
Starting point is 00:40:34 and I really was feeling vulnerable about what I would have to share. I was, of course, pleasantly surprised to find that there was absolutely no judgment and a lot of support. And when it was time to get serious, he really took my hand and helped me to do that. Starting point is 00:40:57 After decades of shaky hands caused by debilitating tremors, Sunnybrook was the only hospital in Canada who could provide Andy with something special. Three neurosurgeons, two scientists, one movement disorders coordinator, 58 answered questions, two focused ultrasound procedures, one specially developed helmet, thousands of high-intensity focused ultrasound waves,

Oh boy, I should have read the best before date on this milk. Since I'm with Fizz, my unused data transfers to the next month automatically. I forgot things could expire. For monthly data that transfers to the next month, switch to Fizz.
Starting point is 00:41:41 Certain conditions apply. Details at fizz.ca. Okay, but I have a game for you to play. Well, first of all, how much of the statistics have you looked at for our merch? I'm somewhat familiar. Okay. This is specifically about the states that people have ordered from. Do you know that at all?
Starting point is 00:41:59 No. Okay, cool, cool, cool. Just making sure. So first of all, just quick hitters for you. Texas has the most orders out of anybody okay uh right behind them though you'll never guess i don't think illinois okay no illinois uh oh in ohio are tied at second pennsylvania and tennessee tied at whatever that is fourth and fifth uh so they're right behind them and then missouri and kansas neck and neck
Starting point is 00:42:21 six and seven so if you're out there and you're a Kansas resident or Missouri, let's bring it on border war. I want Kansas to beat Missouri. Um, so those are the top ones, but, um, there are eight States that we do not have any orders from. Do not guess them yet. Okay. Okay. So here's my proposition for a game. I will give you $1 for every state that you can guess. Okay. However, like it's, it's like a, it's like you can guess as many as you want, but if you fail ever, then you have to pay me $1. Okay.
Starting point is 00:42:56 Kind of like who wants to be a millionaire. After we'll say after five states, I'll give you one mulligan. Okay. That's not too complicated, right? So if you get five in a row, right, you make five bucks and then you can have a free guest kind of like who wants to be a millionaire. Yeah. Like you almost reach like a, like a, I don't know, a benchmark. Like you can't go below this. There's a risk. There's a risk to like, Hey, maybe, maybe you're going to
Starting point is 00:43:19 lose a dollar. If you keep going, I'll say, if you don't get the first one, right. Another mulligan and, and you get a, you don't, you don't lose a dollar. All you don't get the first one right, another mulligan. And you don't lose a dollar. All right, I have my first one. Okay, eight states. Hawaii. Let me check the stats here. Hawaii is correct.
Starting point is 00:43:36 I have $1. You have $1. This is a profitable podcast for me today. So this is now double or nothing. No, double or minus $1 for you. Next up, we have... Man, man i mean i could see any of the states i can't believe we only have eight states isn't that crazy yeah like i was very surprised by that i was like i bet we've sold to 25 states or something like that anyway but at the same time like all of them seem possible like hawaii seemed obvious but after that i'm like
Starting point is 00:44:00 i could see people from any of these other states buy merch from us. We also have people in Canada, so shout out Canada. We do. We got a Canadian order yesterday, I saw. Next up, let's go. Let's just play the numbers game here. Let's go Montana. Montana with an M? Yes. Okay, yes, that's correct.
Starting point is 00:44:19 Thank you for clarifying. Is that your final answer? Oh yeah, I'll do it in Regis voice now. So far, you've said hawaii and montana your next state jake if you want to continue you can either continue for three dollars or you can stop right here i'm kind of losing it you can stop right here oh jeez I thought that was like oh yeah so far Jake out of the eight states you are one quarter
Starting point is 00:44:50 of the way there with Hawaii and Montana Hawaii Regis I would like to keep playing he lied to keep playing you've played this before
Starting point is 00:45:03 haven't you you know how he sometimes does little... You used to play this at game nights with your friends. Yeah. My next guess for a state that Ghostrunners have not bought merch from is going to be... Wyoming. Oh.
Starting point is 00:45:21 Oh, no, keep it going. I want to build this up. I was going to try to find another. Wyoming. Have you ever been to Wyoming, Jake? I was going to try to find another. Wyoming. Have you ever been to Wyoming, Jake? I have before, yes. Thank you, Regis. Beautiful place.
Starting point is 00:45:32 A lot of supporters of you up there, I would assume. Let's check the board. Show me Wyoming. That's correct. Oh. All right. All right. And we're back. that's correct oh alright alright and we're back
Starting point is 00:45:49 it's hard to do on YouTube right now okay in Wyoming so so far Hawaii Montana Wyoming for four million dollars
Starting point is 00:46:03 divided by million, are you going to keep continuing to play? Jake, what are you going to do if you have $3 right now? What would you do with that $3? Well, I'm trying to buy a house right now, and as you know, it's very competitive, so it would be nice to potentially come in
Starting point is 00:46:18 with a cash offer. A cash offer of $3? Yes. Okay. Think about how much more money you could have if you had $4, Jake. Regis, that's a great point, and I would like to keep playing. He's got to keep playing!
Starting point is 00:46:31 He's got to keep playing. For $4! What is your state? Regis, my next state is going to be North Dakota. North Dakota. Show be North Dakota. North Dakota. Show me North Dakota! I'm sorry, Jake, that's not on the list. I don't even have the correct answer
Starting point is 00:46:55 from who was being pulled up on YouTube. Let me do explosion sound. Dang it, who was it? I'll give you a hint. What north dakota's neighbor to the south wait north dakota south dakota yeah uh i was i meant like uh i don't forgot what i said i was trying to do i was meaning like what city what city got me oh i didn't i can't see cities i can't see cities on the map i was looking at um there was there you go dang that's sad so i'll just tell you the rest real quick we got we had hawaii vermont new mexico wyoming montana rhode island south dakota and maine new mexico no albuquerque huh no albuquerque no albuquerque love no so wait i didn't catch alaska in there though alaska okay alaskan order i i purposely i was like i feel good about alaska i'm not gonna guess it i
Starting point is 00:47:49 don't remember seeing that one come in but i'm very thank you if you're the alaskan person um but yeah it's kind of crazy man so uh just thought that was fun so you owe me a dollar yep i i owe you a dollar that's kind of fun. I have a game for you. Oh, fun. It's called... It's a fun game. It's got a fun little name to it, too. It's called... Which... I got some boysenberry stuck in my throat.
Starting point is 00:48:15 It's called... Which of these phrases that were said to Jake in the airport on Monday annoyed him the most? Do you have a jingle for that? Or is that just... Yeah, it's this custom jingle that I came up with. Let me play it right now.
Starting point is 00:48:31 I got to go in GarageBand real quick and play this song. Perfect. And here it is. Let's play. Which one of these phrases that was said to Jake in the airport on Monday annoyed him the most? It was a jingle. Annoyed him the most. was just jingle you know the most oh sure oh whatever you get it annoyed him the most annoyed him okay so you have three phrases i want you to rank them from least annoying to most annoying okay for me okay not for yourself okay um i'm not even gonna give you yeah okay first one is sir i'm going to have
Starting point is 00:49:08 to search your bag oh my gosh okay okay that's one how annoying second is do you mind opening that window okay third you're doing a good reacting yeah third is what can i get started for you okay process them all out loud what do you think okay so we got we got i'm gonna have to check your bag i'm gonna yeah so i'm gonna need to check your to search your bag window you are a window seat guy i know that so so that situation i guess all these happened it's not like all three of these things happened monday yeah it's just about which one annoyed you the most. Um, and this is current annoyance or annoyance then? Uh,
Starting point is 00:49:48 this is it. Let me get a definition. Yeah. Country of origin. This is Monday. And then last one was, what can I get started for you? What can I get started for you?
Starting point is 00:49:58 That would be really funny if that was, maybe it is. Um, okay. So obviously I think that the window thing's annoying to you because you're a sleeper on planes. So either A, you were trying to sleep and you wanted a dark environment, or B, you were half asleep and they woke you up to prop open the window.
Starting point is 00:50:17 Also, I would guess that maybe you're sitting next to Trey and Katie at this point. Maybe not on the airplane. So maybe, unless you're really annoyed with Katie and you're not saying anything, um, and then what can I get started for you? Sounds like something that at Jamba juice, maybe when you were at the airport or Cinnabon or something, auntie, what's the auntie Ann's press. Um, and I think that kind of annoys you. Cause you're like, I don't want to be started. I want it. I want the whole thing. I want you to start and finish this bad boy. That's so funny, right?
Starting point is 00:50:48 Like, like don't, don't get started and then pass it off to somebody else. It's on the assembly line. There's two of you working here. Um, exactly. Or, uh, the last one is I'm going to have to check your bag. I think you travel enough that you're like, I understand things happen. Maybe it's just a random check. So I'm not annoyed with that one. That's not my answer. If it is, maybe I'm wrong. Um, all right. Rank them. So most annoying would be window. Second, most annoying started last annoying bag. Dude, you nailed it. He did it. He did it. A million dollars. This guy knows. I don't know. I lost it. Go ahead. You, I mean, you honestly did a phenomenal job. Thank you.
Starting point is 00:51:26 I'm going to search your bag. Yeah, it happens. I wasn't in a hurry. Yeah. What were they searching for? Well, that was the thing. The guy was like, well, the other guy told me to check it. I don't even know what I'm looking for.
Starting point is 00:51:34 Okay. That's fine. Whatever. Following orders. I'm here in plenty of time. So I didn't know me too much. Yeah. The, what kind of get started for you?
Starting point is 00:51:40 I mean, Starbucks has been doing this for a while. I didn't always be every time, but this time it was Dunkin donuts and uh i'm the only person there it seems like and they're just like so jolly and chipper you know it's like they've had one too many espressos themselves monday morning at 7 30 a.m yeah hey what's going on what can i get started for you here's what you're gonna do you're gonna start by putting two chocolate donuts in a bag and you're gonna end by giving me those donuts it's not much of a process. I think you can, I think you do the whole thing. You don't have to just start it. That's a standup bit right there. Maybe it is. Maybe. Oh, I get so frustrated that we're going to get started for you. Yeah. Just by doing your job. You could start by doing
Starting point is 00:52:15 your job and then I will end it by paying you. I think you already started. So, um, I guess the first thing is to ask me a question, which good job. We're here now. And then the next part of the process is just doing the rest of your job. Okay. And then the third part will be finishing your job. That's so funny. You noticed that. I don't know. I think I just, I just,
Starting point is 00:52:29 no matter what they say, I just know they're going to ask a question and then I order like, they could have been like, Hey, what, what dinosaur is your favorite? And I'll be like, uh,
Starting point is 00:52:36 yeah, just an ice caramel macchiato, please. Yeah. Oh, that's funny. You say that too, because I think I'm just a big words,
Starting point is 00:52:41 but big, like linguistics, like why would they say that word? Uh, but at smoothie King there tonight, uh, the guy, the guy you know at the end of instead of saying like all right and before you hit enter it's gonna ask if you want if you want a tip like instead of saying that he said um now before you pay it's gonna ask you a question and i love thinking like it's just like just some random question right has nothing to do with like so you vaccinated
Starting point is 00:53:02 or uh just like random this is like did you realize komodo dragons are real like how's your day gone right just the most random question just like when's the last time you called your dad and you can just you can just answer verbally to me yeah you're like three weeks i don't know or it's like we email do you think um any of the workers are cute it's like him he asked like females just like there you go what do you think of the guy across the counter from you it's like holding up his shirt check yes or no do you think do you think my shirt's too small do you think this fits all right yeah this is lean one protein right here yeah yeah before you pay it's gonna ask you a question do you like my hair this way right
Starting point is 00:53:37 another stand-up fit that's good too thanks dude right down uh so what am i oh and then the final one oh oh it irks me i'll use the i word it irks me dang i mean it's just like i am so uh just tired long weekend just staying up late early flight and then that plane is so dark we're starting to soar up in the sky it feels so good like it is nap time just just ambient noise out the wazoo the white noise in that plane yeah we're talking that's nice that's all i'm hearing i got the new airpods it's pretty nice yeah except two flights ago i realized that you have there's like noise canceling mode and transparency mode okay which transparency actually lets more noise in than normal it like amplifies yeah so it amplifies it it like makes everything a little louder microphone yeah i had that on for the entire flight like what an idiot but you really want the white noise oh that's a
Starting point is 00:54:29 man it was good white noise yeah i didn't realize until i was like walking around the terminal afterwards like man i'm so stupid but uh yeah this old woman next to me and i had no mercy on her being old i don't care you've seen the world you're old enough you've seen right you've seen this the ground from south carolina to kansas city like what are you excited to see the smoky mountains it's 8 a.m you'll be fine and yeah it's just it's i can't emphasize enough how dark this plane is and then she's like hey would you mind opening the window yeah and then it's like i put the ark of the covenant in my lap and it is so bright and i can't fall asleep oh my god and she's i'm just like if this means a lot to you,
Starting point is 00:55:05 get a window seat, granny. Yeah. Pay a little extra. Yeah. She's in the middle. She probably didn't realize how Southwest does it. She got C45. Who are you, dude? I had trays. I don't know. Yeah. I don't know. Trays America. Trays America. Oh, it bothered me. Oh yeah. It's like, if you, if you're going to have preferences, sit in the window seat. What would it take for you to say no? I don't know. A different upbringing. Yeah. I was going to say preferences, sit in the window seat. What would it take for you to say no? I don't know. A different upbringing? Yeah, I was going to say, I would never say no. It would take a completely different person.
Starting point is 00:55:30 Unless they were really, really mean to me. Like, hey, hey, numbnuts, open up the window. Regis, how'd you get on my plane? Hey, Rich. Yeah. Hey, you, Rich. Yeah, something like that would have done it. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:55:44 But besides that, i would never say no so anyway that was uh that was the game show segment of the podcast that was fun that was fun that's we both didn't know we had games for each other with theme songs oh you want to do another segment i have i have another segment we're gonna call it current events with brad okay um oh wait play the music and then i'll say current events with bad. We're going to call it current events with Brad. Sorry, Brad Ellis. Okay.
Starting point is 00:56:10 You could turn it off or mute or go down. Yeah, that's fine. Um, so just different things that aren't really pertinent to me. Like they aren't happening in my life, but I've seen them and I'm like, I have opinions about this.
Starting point is 00:56:21 Yeah. It's really a Palestine conflict. Let's get into it. Okay. So that's the first one that We're calling for a ceasefire. Right. No, I'm just kidding. We're going to go masks, Israeli, vaccinations, and...
Starting point is 00:56:30 Let's hit on pro-life, pro-choice real quick. Okay. Yeah. Let's go ahead and do it. And then predestination versus free will? Yeah. Let's do that one for the Calvinists in the room. So, okay.
Starting point is 00:56:40 First and foremost, we talked about it earlier. Chick-fil-A sauces are running out. People are sending us this left and right, Like, hope you guys are doing okay. And it's so funny to be like, you guys think that I don't have my own sauce. That's why you stash up. That's why you never throw them away. Yeah. And so that's the first and foremost is like, if you're not doing this now, you you've learned, you've learned from this kind of like Dave, Dave Ramsey calls an emergency fund. Like you should always have, you know, three to six months worth of salary on hand in case an emergency happens. This is exactly what I do for the sauce. Yep. We have a buffet, like three to six months, a hutch, a hutch. Yeah. One drawer is committed.
Starting point is 00:57:14 I'm talking Buffalo, Chick-fil-A, even a few Polynesians just in case, you know, Sriracha ranch or whatever they call it, like whatever. And a plenty of honey roasted barbecue. So, um, have your sauce drawer, have an emergency fund yeah of sauce it's just it's just common sense it's what ramsey would teach you so um it's been current events with breath no uh i don't know when i was supposed to play that no just just the intro okay i don't care whatever you want whatever you feel like it's nice but okay uh i don't think it should be going the whole time i think that would be okay just because i want some banter back and forth i don't want it should be going the whole time. I think that would be. Because I want some banter back and forth. I don't want it to just be like, in today's news, blah, blah, blah. Give me a headline for the next one.
Starting point is 00:57:49 Like, just whenever you're ready. Okay. Like, what do you mean by headline? I'm going to play the music and you give me the headline of the current event and then we'll talk about it. Oh, gosh. Okay, okay, okay. I don't have. Okay, go ahead.
Starting point is 00:57:58 Go. It's been recently reported that starting in September of 2022, airlines may be weighing people before getting on the flight. Huh? I don't know about the September part. I made that part up. I tried to have it like a headline kind of, but I saw an article that said airlines are considering weighing people before they get on the flight.
Starting point is 00:58:19 And that scares the bejesus out of me. Why? Because big man, I mean, big man, a lot of smells. Well, is there any like downside to it? Like, are they going to charge you more? I think. Surely not.
Starting point is 00:58:31 That seems un-American. On Southwest though? I don't know. I don't know. I, or they're not going to let you on or they're going to, I, if, if, if they do say, Hey, it's your weight plus your bag. I'm fine. Catherine way more than I would like i'd be
Starting point is 00:58:46 just fine i'm like you know bring on a backpack and katherine's you know got the the four wheel wheelie bag thing are they doing it for like weight distribution because that's what i would think they're just going to do it to like oh we need to rearrange and we got too much weight on the right side we got too many fatties in aisle eight can we get one of you guys to come up we'll give you a window we'll give you an exit row you know let's just say uh if i were to chick-fil-a and they came through i would give them 15 honey roasted barbecues they're all sitting on the right side we gotta even this out yeah oh i just think it's hilarious it's like it's like that's not good for the brand that's not that's not gonna be me it's i mean maybe this is like michelle obama's like like long con weight
Starting point is 00:59:21 loss fine obesity motivates me i did 15 push-ups right when i read that i was like holy crap i got out of bed i was going to bed last night reading that i was like i gotta i gotta do my ups i gotta get my ups my downs and i gotta weigh myself real quick big ups so yeah and i just i yeah chug the water so interesting and then what's next after this yeah window middle aisle we gotta make let's make it happen it has has to happen. It makes so much sense. Back to front. Makes so much more sense. Win a medal. Do something. Push them. Shove them. Do something.
Starting point is 00:59:50 Something. Oh, man. Yeah. You got it. That's to remember the Titans quote. And so, anyway, I just don't know. A, I don't think they're going to do it. That sounds ridiculous.
Starting point is 00:59:58 Because then they have to weigh the stewardesses. Oh, I'm sorry. The flight attendants. That's one of those more pc than the other flight attendants i think is like the new thing to say i don't know if it's like saying little person instead of um plain person yeah because like not every person that's little is from kansas they're not all from the planes yes and so homophones yeah um no but then they can't do that that's like you can't say like hey'm going to judge you by your job based off your
Starting point is 01:00:25 weight. You can't be like, you can't be like, you're too fat. Yolanda stay back. No, they find a loophole taking Cheryl instead, like spirit airlines or frontier. Like they find a loophole. So technically it's pretty like messed up and illegal to weigh people and then kick them off of a flight based on their weight. So what we did is we brought in a someone from the local carnival
Starting point is 01:00:45 he's a weight guesser and he's pretty accurate yeah and this actually gets us around the roles because we don't know your weight right we don't know we're just taking this guy's word for it yeah and but we were going to trust him more he doesn't technically work for us so he can tell say whatever he wants he just showed up yeah we don't even know he's on a payroll would you would you be a little nervous if your pilot was too big like would you be like what's what's to say about this guy's work ethic wait pilots are very slender they are dude how did they get that way i think they have to have good you know discipline in order to be a pilot and usually if you're a big man it means you don't have much discipline i would just think it's from
Starting point is 01:01:18 the pure size of the cockpit door or the uh altitude or the altitude like it just it just thins you out it kind of yeah That's why they call it that. Huh. Because it makes you thinner. Mm-hmm. Thin air. Thin air. I'm thinking about all my, like, all-time best, like, Denver Broncos players.
Starting point is 01:01:33 Played at Mile High Stadium. Skinny guys. Skinny guys. You don't see, I don't know. I mean. Terrell Davis. Terrell Davis. Very lean.
Starting point is 01:01:41 He was fine. Very fit. Ed McCaffrey. Sure. Very fit. I mean, Shannon Sharp. Hey, Skip. Hey. Hey, Skip. Hey hey hey skip hey what's he gotta do what's he gotta do i love skip sorry shannon yeah sharp uh so anyway i don't know i i would be a little leery if i was like oh that guy pilot yeah how much sauce
Starting point is 01:02:01 is he getting yeah exactly why why do you have that stain that Chick-fil-A stain on your shirt? I mean, every pilot could think of fictional or not. Like let's Tom Hanks and Sully Raymond Steel and Left Behind series. Those are the two. Yeah. Those are the first two. And then third would probably be Maverick from. Yeah, of course.
Starting point is 01:02:21 From Top Gun. Yeah. My big three pilots. Pearl Harbor. Oh, yeah. They were pilots. Casey Affleck's brother. Flight, I think, course from Top Gun. Yeah. Right. My, my big three pilots, Pearl Harbor. Oh yeah. They were pilots. Casey Affleck's brother. Flight, I think was about a pilot. That was called the Denzel Washington movie.
Starting point is 01:02:33 The aviator, I think is about a pilot. That would make sense. Never saw it, but context clue. Dude, Pearl Harbor just reminded me. It was kind of fun, which I don't want to necessarily be like, if it felt like Pearl Harbor, which was fun. That's not what I want to say good but take that out of context yeah i don't want that to be the sentiment we played some golf in south carolina and it was i mean it had to be the neighboring
Starting point is 01:02:55 lot over was an airport and so i mean every five minutes like a uh plane but not like a full-size plane like a tiny like a like a municipal airport yeah like a super super tiny plane would not like a full-size plane like a tiny like a municipal airport yeah like a super super tiny plane would just like fly by and it was just fun it felt like i was on like a naval base or something just like i don't know it was just like it was outside the weather's beautiful different atmosphere yeah it's everything's great and there's airplanes like a shadow of an airplane's like going over me that was a new experience for me like i'm in the shadow of an airplane just briefly that's cool it's like a aviator eclipse there's a term for you yeah that they teach you that in fight school so this was called an aviator eclipse it's when you go over a
Starting point is 01:03:33 golf course in South Carolina okay this news coming out of Hawaii. Now, um, rental cars are getting so expensive that people are starting to rent you halls in order to get around. People say it's a trend started by the ghost runners podcast every Monday morning with Jake and Brad. I've seen this. Yeah. People have been messages.
Starting point is 01:04:00 They've been sending us that as well. Yeah. You guys don't need to send us that anymore. I try to be nice every time. I'm like, that as well. Yeah. You guys don't need to send us that anymore. I try to be nice every time. Be like, that's crazy. Sweet. Odds are,
Starting point is 01:04:11 if you see anything that is something that we just talked about this episode, someone else has already sent it to us. That's fair. That's fair. Yeah. We appreciate people thinking about it. Yeah. But just something to think about.
Starting point is 01:04:21 Yeah. Yeah. Uh, anyway, I just thought that's funny. I, that's just, that's just one of those things where it's like did we start this did i mean are we trending are we did we yeah maybe i don't know so that's pretty cool though it is kind of funny yeah i mean i got to be someone influencing it i think i mean is uho publicly traded company let's get in okay okay
Starting point is 01:04:42 okay okay i'm gonna look right now oh i thought you were about to play the music u-haul publicly traded question mark uhl i like putting question marks in my search results that always helps oh you all is owned by americo oh wait on the nasdaq yeah u-haul a holding company which also operates in america and real estate what oh it's a lot of other stuff i want just you all i don't want some going up. Is AmeriCo going up? I don't know. Let's look. What's the stock sign? U-H-A-L.
Starting point is 01:05:10 That's pretty close to U-Haul. Yeah. All right. MarketWatch.com. All right. So it's after hours. Is it? Okay.
Starting point is 01:05:19 This is good. This is good. This is good. This is good. This is good. This is good. This is worth it. This is worth it.
Starting point is 01:05:23 Let's take it all. Let's take it all. Let's take it all. Oh, it's a very steady stock. It is good. This is good. This is good. This is good. This is good. This is worth it. This is worth it. Let's take them all. Let's take them all. Let's take them all. Oh, it's a very steady stock. It seems safe. Okay. Very safe. Very safe.
Starting point is 01:05:31 Oh, no. We're on our way out, baby. It would make sense. Yeah, it makes sense. That's the whole point of us wanting to invest in it. Let's do it. Okay. Last but not least.
Starting point is 01:05:40 It is officially May. It is officially graduating season. And we're seeing more and more spikes in preschool graduations lately. More on this in just a minute. Is that a good headline? You did great. Yeah, I just, I have friends that have preschoolers. Obviously, I have a young child now and I don't get the preschool graduations.
Starting point is 01:06:01 I think it's crazy. But all my friends are like like and like friends that are like not cheesy weird people are like normal people so proud of my son for graduating preschool class of 2044 or something and i'm like not that that wouldn't make sense but whatever they are huh i'm learning about this for the first time but yeah i don't like it my sister okay my sister also my nephew just graduated preschool and i think it'd be fun to like go and like whatever but it's just like like my friend was like i got kind of emotional at this preschool graduation no yes dude and he's like a manly dude like like doesn't i bet he cries twice a year and one of them's at the
Starting point is 01:06:40 preschool graduation huh i mean i don't have children i don't know but i think high school and college that's it you don't need you don't need to graduate from elementary school maybe recognize them like hey we really love that you've been coming to elementary school here we'll miss you guys but this might feel like sometimes when i say things about dogs and then people get really mad at what i say about dogs okay but i also feel like kids just children no no no how do you sell your kid for? Like Will Ferrell in, uh, at the end of Zoolander where he's like, uh, Magnum, Ferrari, they're, they're all the same. Look, I feel like I'm taking crazy pills. That's what I am when it comes to graduations. I'm like, we're flying right out of town for graduation. Really? It's
Starting point is 01:07:19 the most, yeah. I think it's so overhyped, over celebrated. Yeah. Like I could be so proud of you, but not take a six hour road trip to go sit in a gym for four hours and wait for an interview called it's so ceremonial yeah it's so the opposite of like how like affection and like pride should be showed for like a loved one it's so yeah just robotic and cookie cutter right i could show you like for instance i'm like i'm not going to my sister's like grad school graduation Friday. Really? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:07:45 But I'm going to be there at dinner. I'm going to hang out with her the rest of the night. That's what I was going to say. I think the presence that of you being in the room or not in the room, in the vicinity, like, like I didn't go to Eli's graduation on Saturday night, but I went to his party beforehand and like, and I got face to face time with him and all that stuff. But I don't think he cared. Eli, let me know if you cared.
Starting point is 01:08:05 He's a listener. Let me know if you cared. He's a listener. Let me know if you cared. He's also the one that made that GIF that you posted a million times of me. Oh, well, I couldn't get the GIF to work, so I had to make my own. Oh, okay. He's also the one that inspired the GIF, the video.
Starting point is 01:08:15 Anyway, let me know if you cared that I didn't come to your graduation, Eli. But yeah, I didn't think that that was that big of a deal to be there for the ceremony. See, and I think, truthfully, if I was graduating something, I'm like, you seriously was that big of a deal to like be there for the ceremony. See, and I think truthfully, like if I was graduating something, I'm like, you seriously don't have to come to this. We can just hang out afterwards or hang out before.
Starting point is 01:08:30 Like it means nothing to me for you to be in the audience while hundreds of other names get read. It means nothing to me. I wonder if it's like, if, if. But I'm glad you came parents who are listening. Well, I wonder, like, I would assume you had a pretty easy college like i think you're probably very smart and like that's true i've come from a pretty privileged
Starting point is 01:08:50 perspective on this yeah like like i think some people it's like i worked so hard to get here into like like i was not the smartest guy in class and i made it i graduated and this is accomplishment you know whereas you were like i was very much expecting to graduate the whole time you you know? And that's how I was too. Like, I wasn't like, I was like, I don't know if I'm going to be able to make it through here, you know? Yeah. Maybe that's part of it. No. And that's a good point too. I think I just see it as like, yeah. If attending graduation is the main way you can show a loved one, you're proud of them. I think that is ridiculous to me. That doesn't make any sense to me. Like attending the reading of names is so boring. Like just, just take yourself out
Starting point is 01:09:30 of the situation and just like, look at the literally what's happening. You're listening to strangers names being called. Oh yeah. I don't think it should mean that much to someone, especially in college where you have little, like as a parent, as a sister or brother, like you have little to no connection to anybody but your brother or sister at that point yeah you know like in high school it's like oh yeah that's the person i played baseball with forever you know so my dad loves that guy you know whatever but last thing i'll say okay everyone who attends a graduation what are you doing the whole time how much longer is this gonna last on your phone are we on the end snake we're only on the m's okay
Starting point is 01:10:02 so like halfway through the alphabet yeah okay, this is going to take a while. If you are attending something and you can't wait for it to be over, I don't know if it should mean that much to either party involved. Yeah. You know, like you should, if you're going to celebrate something, if you're going to celebrate hard work, if you're going to celebrate perseverance, determination, celebrate over something where you're both glad to be there.
Starting point is 01:10:20 Right. That's my final thought. Okay. That's your final thought. Jake hates dog situations. Man, Jake's the worst it's dogs and graduation and maybe children i can't tell all right you got one more current event no that's it okay so thank you for coming to our current events with brad uh speaking of current events let's talk may 27th real quick let's talk about it what's up well is oh anything so may 27th is this thursday you guys we've been hyping it up for a few weeks now but i mean it's in about two weeks ago i asked
Starting point is 01:10:51 bro i was like are people coming like should we keep hyping this it was hard to get a pulse on it and now we have a sister's coming yeah i hey right here look at me youtube right here oh oh bpms are up oh that's a good pulse. It's a very good pulse. Yeah, baby. Brad, tell them some of the states that people are coming from. Like confirmed. We got Oregon.
Starting point is 01:11:13 Driving for Oregon. Salem on your feet. We got Virginia. That's literally coast to coast. And then right in the middle, what up, cheese state? We got Wisconsin. We got Ohio. We got Ohio. We got Ohio, the Buckeye state.
Starting point is 01:11:28 Anywhere else? Missouri. We have Missouri, Kansas. Yeah. Those are the ones that I know for sure. Like, you know, we haven't asked like, Hey, please let us know you're coming. We don't, there's been no, we don't need that. Like, that'd be awesome.
Starting point is 01:11:40 Like no matter what people are coming. Yes. And my mom and dad, I will have people there my wife and children i think are gonna come my wife catherine was like i wasn't planning on coming but the more i hear about this like like i feel like i need to be there with hattie and boat like this is gonna be a monumental day hattie's bedtime bow's bedtime 7 30 like every night and our first game is gonna be at 7 30 and she's gonna be there like she's like i have to come they'll have to just survive that you're gonna bring bow i think so yeah who's gonna babysit she's going to be there like she's like i have to come they'll have to just survive that you're going to bring bow i think so yeah who's going to babysit all everyone's going to
Starting point is 01:12:08 be there all the babysitters yeah okay so this is for real happening it's going to be i think a truly like amazing experience like it's going to be i mean pretty incredible for people are coming to watch us play basketball but also just like i think it's just going to be a cool moment. Like we've all kind of been holed up in a way for a year now. Right. And people are going to come and it's just fun to have something to celebrate. And I got these, these seeds in my throat. So, but we have some things we want to make it up to you guys too, if you're going to
Starting point is 01:12:39 come all this way. Yeah. So we got ideas. We're going to Thursday night. So the basketball game, Hy-Vee Arena, H-Y-V-E-E Arena in Kansas City, Missouri. 7.30 is the first game. If we win the first game, which we will,
Starting point is 01:12:53 I promise, or else I will shave my head. I don't want to do that. We're going to win. Or free tables. Either one. Choose wisely. Your call. 7 30 and
Starting point is 01:13:06 then 8 30 as well are our two games yeah and so we have back-to-back games 8 30 will obviously be the championship after that we plan on going straight to andy's frozen custard yes because we we use lactic acid we consume lactic acid just cream um that's right that's what we call it and not gonna tell that story yeah um ice cream we'll be getting just ice cream there and gosh i'm distracted go ahead okay so and um who knows what else yeah that's all we're you know that's where we're gonna plan for thursday yeah we could go for just drinks afterwards sure we'll see but we want to make sure there's a kids friendly thing first First and foremost, like the ice cream thing. Yeah,
Starting point is 01:13:45 exactly. Good thought. So basketball games, uh, and then ice cream. I was gonna have a Thursday, Friday. We were going to be all gathering at a place called parlor Casey.
Starting point is 01:13:56 Uh, it's in like, uh, close to downtown. It's like midtown, uh, cool part of the city. We're going to be having lunch there around noon or so.
Starting point is 01:14:04 It's a fun little spot. There's like six or seven restaurants on this kind of cool area. There's a lot of space, a lot of options. It're going to be having lunch there around noon or so. It's a fun little spot. There's like six or seven restaurants all in this kind of cool area. There's a lot of space, a lot of options. It's got to be Zoppity. Can we say 1130? Hey, hey. Let's have a... Let's say 1130.
Starting point is 01:14:14 1130. Parlor. For lunch. So even if you can't make it to the game Thursday night, you got plans. You got Bible study. You got, you know, you got to... You got to tuck Bowen because... Oh, you know, you've got to stuff the fortune cookies. Tuck Bo in.
Starting point is 01:14:26 Oh, you have to tuck Bo in. No. Take a lunch break. Yeah. Meet us at Parler for 1130 this Friday for lunch. If you've ever wanted to hang out with Jake or Brad or Bo, Bo won't be there. Bo will be there.
Starting point is 01:14:40 Bo will be there. I'll make him come. I hope. Patty will definitely be there. I promise that. Okay, sweet. Yeah sweet yeah that'd be good and then at 1 p.m tell them brad 1 p.m we're doing our first ever live recorded episode of ghostwriters podcast every morning morning jake and brad well and you know live recorded yeah live studio live audience yeah uh yeah we're not gonna release it right there and like not a live stream live audience live studio audience that's it there it is that's it so uh that's gonna be right down the street from
Starting point is 01:15:09 parlor at this place called reactor we'll put all this on our instagram you'll see it everywhere yeah we're gonna be pretty annoying about it reactor uh listener of the podcast attender of the game on thursday night clifton alexander uh owns this business and advertising agent you get it down employer of morgan noonan yes listener chief cheerleader yeah chief cheer their voice memo or lever yep and i get nervous talking about it and so we're going to record there anybody and everybody that wants to come can come we're going to uh try to incorporate you guys as much as possible i don't we haven't figured out the details on that yet but we're're going to have fun. We're going to have so much fun with it and anybody's welcome to come
Starting point is 01:15:47 and watch us record. Yeah. I kind of see it as like next week instead of voice memos, it's like live questions from people who came to Kansas city to see us. So it's going to be really fun. That's going to be one o'clock to three o'clock ish and that's it. So those are things we're like willing to hard commit to. and now i don't know my plans this friday you know who knows more things could happen we could play pickleball potentially yeah you know definitely other things could happen but we at least want to give you guys like some concrete things like here's what will happen if you make the trip hyvee arena basketball game andy's next day we got parlor and reactor for a live episode yeah live recorded audience episode
Starting point is 01:16:24 you pretty much have it you wait it's like it's like the ak camera you can't stand it it's a live audience and it's gonna be live to everybody whenever we post a camera recorded live yes for you to watch later when we upload. Yeah. It's going to be so fun. And we're also thinking about all these different things we can do to make the actual experience of the game more fun. Yes. I promise you we'll have so much fun.
Starting point is 01:16:54 You will laugh. If you laugh at our podcast, you will laugh at our basketball game. Like we're going to, we want to, we have some fun ideas, like get our friends involved as like characters. Yep. In the night, maybe some fun things at timeouts or at halftime i love the idea of the other team what are they gonna think right i mean that and i want to play dumb too while i'm playing like are these guys with you who are
Starting point is 01:17:16 these people what's going on how'd they get that like how'd they get out roker um like whoa yeah i think it's gonna be awesome like a snow machine how to get that in here that's awesome yeah dude oh man i just i just i love the idea of like like maybe one of their girlfriends comes to watch them because usually like nobody comes to those games but maybe a championship game you might see a couple from the other team there but not like this oh it's gonna be so cool not like this one thing that was fun i got a text this week from a girl uh i went to college with kylie heim uh nice girl we were somewhat friends in college but also she was like taller than me more attractive than me and on the volleyball team so like three good reasons to be like intimidated by things you're not yeah it's so um we were kind of friends in
Starting point is 01:18:02 college but she listens to the podcast yeah and she texted me this week and she was like, hey, been loving like Ghostrunners. Like, it's awesome. Cool. I live in Kid City and she's a full time. She's like an athletic trainer. Like she was like like for colleges and high school sports teams or whatever. Like a sports trainer. Like a sports trainer.
Starting point is 01:18:19 Yeah. So she's like, so if you need like an AT for the game. Yeah. I was like, absolutely. Like she could tape us up beforehand. That's what I said. I said, bring everything. Bring all your gear.
Starting point is 01:18:29 I was like, you should sit at the end of the bench with us and like be there. Isaac will use her every two minutes. Yeah. Like Isaac will legitimately need you. Like bring a lot of ibuprofen. Yeah. Bring a roller. Bring one of those exercise bikes, like stationary bikes.
Starting point is 01:18:40 However, you can test for concussions. Isaac will probably get one at some point. Like have that kit ready. So yeah, she'll be there oh how fun yes uh i think we're gonna get like a couple of our friends to like yeah maybe a little head coach maybe some other yep roles in the night yeah and then i got a vinmo yesterday from a listener named john walker uh-huh oh yeah john walker yeah he uh comments all yeah he's a great listener yeah good ghosting uh-huh he then went with 25 and said uh i can't be there but i want you to use this money to buy uh 25 dr peppers for the first people who come to the game that's awesome and i'll say this is amazing yeah so that's another thing first 25 people in the gates dr peppers on me and slash john walker yeah and
Starting point is 01:19:22 bonus just points if you say do you have anything else? Do you have popcorn or anything to go with this? And you say, Nope, just drinks. This is a fun inside joke. Like, like, you know, like it's like, uh, I can't think of a good example, but like somebody does something, you watch them do it on TV a million times and they do it in real life. And you're like, Oh, just three. There it is. He said it, he said it like, it like like oh you know he said on your feet that's and that's what's gonna happen i can already imagine now like you make your first three-pointer of the night and then just you screw mom yeah yeah well i was gonna be like walking with hattie around the concourse like not even watching mom i'll yell at her yeah you see it huh yeah oh it's gonna be so fun so please come if you if you
Starting point is 01:20:09 want don't don't don't feel pressured to by any means but we promise that we're gonna have a lot of fun with it and uh would love to see you there would love to meet you love to hang out with you as much as you want to hang out with us so i was talking to uh merch neighbor girl the girl who ordered merch point one miles away from me and she said she will be there in attendance. So that's very exciting. Heck yes. I think Luke Hoagland should probably be there.
Starting point is 01:20:29 Lukehoagland.com will be there. Yeah, you gotta be. Passing out business cards. Peter, gotta come. Yeah, Peter Casey Realtor. Peter Casey, gasoline in the water bottle. Casey.
Starting point is 01:20:40 Maybe we get Simply Fit Paige to show up. Simply Fit Paige. Do a little dance routine at halftime. Oh, with Caitlin Triplett. Oh. And with you if you're not too tired i'll be fine i'm never tired pick up basketball with a bunch of my friends are skinny you uh you guys probably all heard it last week's episode but just a reminder that uh kind of giveaway and everything is still going on with uh my friend
Starting point is 01:20:58 page's instagram simply fit page yeah it's been cool to see people getting involved so far yeah a lot of people followed her last week so yeah if you follow her you're entered to win 25 bucks and if you end up taking her dance program then you just automatically get 10 bucks 10 bones for how can i get started for you i'm gonna get started for you yeah check her out so yeah get dancing with page heck yeah that's a fun shirt i'm just thinking about merch all day these days get get dancing with page get dancing with page i would buy that shirt or what can i get started for you yeah anyway that's yeah please come it's gonna be awesome yeah so if it's in your schedule if you think you make it work uh brad and i want to make it worth your while and i generally think like brad's like i'm kind of nervous you know and i'm just like yeah i'm full
Starting point is 01:21:36 steam ahead i'm like this is going to be so fun i have no doubts that people will absolutely get their money's worth i'm so excited oh absolutely i have the game of my life i'm just yeah i was gonna say i'm just more nervous about the performance that i have a basketball your your hair is at stake yeah exactly i yeah please jordan come through for us so uh man anyway we're gonna have fun guys it's gonna be fun one thing i meant to mention last week and i forgot it's still going on there's so actually maybe i did mention last week there's so many issues right now going on with Apple podcast. And I keep like having to message people individually. But just so you know, like it's out of our hands, like Apple just launched some new podcast
Starting point is 01:22:12 program and now they have all these issues. And hey, probably a good reason to switch over to Spotify anyway. Like a lot of our podcast episodes are not showing up on Apple. So it's not just you. It's an Apple problem. I guess if you're listening to this, you figured it out. Yeah. But yeah, Spotify and YouTube or like, you know, know whatever android people google podcast yeah it goes back and forth with
Starting point is 01:22:29 apple right like it's not like right now it's on there oh is it okay but then it like some people have messaged us later and be like hey it's not working or it's not working for me and it's working for somebody else so anyway uh i don't know all right what else we got you want you want to give us anything else you want me to tell you something uh up to you big daddy uh how about uh i'll just give a quick shout out to corbin baldwin i met him in manhattan he was a ghosty oh no way there i delivered some tables to him for his mom he's graduating he graduated congratulations like graduations uh graduates the graduation gentleman yeah and uh his parents came to graduation don't don't talk to jake about it but it's okay and uh anyway thank you so much for like helping me make money by
Starting point is 01:23:11 listening like he listened to the podcast told his parents about his parents live like in the opposite part of kansas like six and a half hours away from us and yet made a sale with them so that was really cool um yeah so shout out corbin um and then the teddy geiger thing i kind of already mentioned that was just i was so crazy out of all the people i could randomly say teddy geiger is the one and the comment that i made afterwards yes that was random you had no idea i don't yeah uh i have some henry stuff but i'm gonna i'm gonna save that for next week okay because i didn't oh that's yeah that's perfect yeah i didn't i thought you meant henry in person i was like i don't know that's a good idea but i should i should tell henry we're playing he would definitely
Starting point is 01:23:51 come and he would just stay in there and just like yeah and everyone would know like that's henry yeah whatever i'll tell you about later uh end of the punchline is he is donating us a peach tree oh he's giving us a peach tree. Like a full grown or like seeds? No, tiny little guy, probably two feet tall. Okay. Not a seed, but it's not much bigger than a seed. You wouldn't know it's a peach tree.
Starting point is 01:24:12 Let's say that. That's the end of the world or end of the story. Last thing, as I think, you know, you do Just Drake, Just Drinks. Whoa. Gosh, I'm struggling. Just Jake Podcast. You do Just Jake Podcast. I think I'm not committed
Starting point is 01:24:25 to every week like you are but i think i'm toying with the idea of doing a podcast with just brad that's like five minutes long or something cool um and the thought process was we've talked privately about how i want to get into stand up a little bit or at least try it out and you were like dude just go to some open mic nights get more comfortable i can't really find much right now i think everything's like closed down um like i've looked a lot and so I'm, which this is not the same, but I'm just going to have a podcast where I do stand up for five minutes, dude. I mean, just, just to flex that muscle. Yeah. Seriously. Just to force yourself to do it, to let me say it out loud. Yeah, exactly. Like, cause I've, I got all this
Starting point is 01:25:00 stuff written down and I'm like, yeah, I think that's funny. But then I babble it, blub, blubble it all out like this. So, um cool yeah i don't know how often we're gonna do it but patreon.com slash ghost runners check it out sometime i'll look forward to listening to that that's awesome thank you good for you yeah thanks man so uh and you guys can give me your very honest feedback because i would love to hear that's what's gonna be helpful hey that wasn't very funny but this part was great embellish on this have Have better timing. I don't know. You know what's so fun about our listeners? I generally seek legitimate feedback from our listeners, especially people on Patreon.
Starting point is 01:25:30 They're so clever. They're so witty. I generally like it's helpful. Right. Anything they have to say. Yeah. It's awesome. I think it's very wise, Brad.
Starting point is 01:25:37 Thank you. I'm excited to try it out. I was going to just do it in my garage. I think I might do it here, actually, though. Hey, you're cool. You're cool. You can hear it you'll be able to hear it so cool it's gonna be fun uh should we get some voicemails please
Starting point is 01:25:49 the first one i see says the words graduation on it like that's been a theme of this episode so i'm just gonna play that one hey ghost runners this is lucy from arkansas i just wanted to say thank you for helping me through graduation. Actually, I'm recording this voice message at my actual graduation just to say thank you. Show how much you guys meant to me. Bye. Because it's so boring being there. You don't want to be at your own graduation.
Starting point is 01:26:16 But she's proud of the accomplishment of graduating, Jake. And you could be proud and still be bored there. Wow, that was perfect. Lucy, congrats on graduating. And I can be proud of you without going to your graduation. I can say I'm proud of you. I can be proud of your graduation, but I'd rather not go.
Starting point is 01:26:32 I'd rather be on vacation. Yeah. Not bad. Not bad. Throw that in the podcast. What's your name, Lucy? Lucy Griffin. Congrats, Lucy Griffin.
Starting point is 01:26:40 LG. LeGriff. Where are you going next year? Let me guess. Ball State University. I'm going to guess Chapman. Just say a random last name. I had no idea.
Starting point is 01:26:52 It really isn't college. Oh, is it? Yeah. I thought you were just like, I'm going to guess Winklevoss. Swanson. Yeah. Swanson University. Where's Chapman?
Starting point is 01:27:02 Who do I know that went to Chapman? Oh, I know. Nicole Renard. Oh, of course. She's myman? Who do I know that went to Chapman? Oh, I know. Nicole Renard. Oh, of course. She's my Miss America friend. Miss Washington. Okay. Do you know her?
Starting point is 01:27:10 Have we talked about her before? Nice girl. I know you have a friend that's Miss whatever. Is that the one? I feel like you have random connections. I think it's just my one. Okay. Yes, I've heard of her.
Starting point is 01:27:20 I think that's who went to Chapman. I bet you guys follow. She like blew up on TikTok making like smoothie bowls smoothie bowls this year dude i love those yeah that was like she's been like content creating for like years just like doing all this random stuff and then she finally like finally found her niche just like making smoothie bowls on tiktok and youtube and now she's like full-time youtuber now just making food no way yeah interesting like 45 seconds at a time what's her name nicole chap no uh chapman university's uh graduate nicole renard okay i will look that up okay yeah watch that she's my good friend i realized the other day on my instagram
Starting point is 01:27:50 that literally zero things i was as i was scrolling were like personal posts it was all is that you too or no sorry keep going it was just it was just all woodworking business or like you know whatever like either ads or stuff like and katherine i didn't notice that katherine's like do you follow anybody I was like I do and I think maybe it's probably because people aren't posting as much like yeah like they're putting it on their story but also maybe I just don't follow enough people so I'm gonna start following people I that's not exactly what I went through but I I think I unfollowed over 100 people last week really just people that I don't like I kind of feel like I know or like we dm back and forth a little bit i feel like i don't know yeah i just like trying to like watch whittle it down a little bit refine it a little bit i i unfollowed a bunch of woodworkers because i would get bummed out
Starting point is 01:28:34 sometimes what like looking at their stuff and being like oh i'm not as good as them that's the thing with comedy sometimes so i'll watch a bo burnham special i'm like that he's the smartest guy i've ever seen i can't compete with this. You want to learn from certain people, but you also don't want to be discouraged too much. It's like a fine line. Yeah, exactly. Yeah. Okay. Well, thank you, Lucy Griffin.
Starting point is 01:28:54 Hey, Jake and Brad. I'm Emma. And I'm Madison. We're from Texas. We're also Oji Ghosties. I found out about the podcast because I was a camper at K-West when Jake was on programs. And then at some point started following him on Instagram and then heard about the podcast. And we've been listening since day one.
Starting point is 01:29:10 I also worked at K-West last summer. I worked at Pine Cove, but camp counselor types, I guess. But we're at Brahms right now, so I'm sorry if it's kind of loud. But we had a question. What is your go-to Brahms order? And I guess we had a second question. How do you rank Brahms ice cream amongst the other ice cream parlors across the country? So what's your top?
Starting point is 01:29:34 What's your, I guess, least favorite? Anything like that. But yeah, we love the podcast. It literally cracks us up every single week. And so thank you for what you do. Yes. Literally cracks us up. Highlight of my week.
Starting point is 01:29:51 Every single week. Definitely. That for what you do yes y'all are great highlight of my week every single week definitely okay thank you bye okay what are their names madison and emma madison emma that's cool they've been here since the beginning because one of them met me when they were 13 years old that's crazy yeah six or seven years ago uh thank you guys for listening that's that's very very cool you stuck it out i wonder if i am happy or sad that people like the kids that knew me probably didn't have cell phones whenever they were at my camp because they were seven years old yeah you know like yeah it'd be more fun because there was a kid actually noah right i don't know if he listens to our podcast or not but he messaged me just recently like hey you were my camp counselor back in the day like hadn't messed me forever wow and i was like dude what's? Like that was really fun for me. So I was like, maybe that'd be fun. But also I'm okay.
Starting point is 01:30:28 You know, not communicate with all those people, but do you follow any old campers or anything? I don't think so. No, I just follow woodworking accounts and ads. I follow a lot of my like very first, uh, cabin of campers ever got my first summer like 2011. Yeah. And yeah, I mean, I think one of them at least one of them's engaged that's crazy you know and yeah yeah they were 12 yeah when i was in college like
Starting point is 01:30:49 this kid yeah this kid was 10 when i was his counselor and he's going into senior year of college yeah that is making me old yeah it's pretty cool anyway uh brahms brahms we don't go to it that much in kansas city yeah we don't have it in kansas city that's a good reason why we don't go to it but i think if i lived place so i go there i don't know five times a year on like road trips and stuff down to texas but if i had a brahms close to me i would literally go three times a year i think i think it's very mediocre but it's people from oklahoma are gonna lose it oh i know yeah that's fine that's oklahoma stinks too no it's a great place if you want a burger and a gallon of milk it's a great place it's cool that they have a grocery store in there yeah that was my go-to brahms order it's probably just two percent milk just go get a gallon of milk. It's a great place for that. It is cool that they have a grocery store in there. Yeah. That was my go-to Brahms order.
Starting point is 01:31:25 It's probably just 2% milk. Just go get a gallon of milk and go have some cereal at home. Really? Yeah. I mean, I'm just kind of just blending around. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:31:31 The best thing at Brahms is just the groceries. But they have pudding cups. That's cool. If you're in the mood for pudding, they have pudding. I'm not saying it's bad. If it's McDonald's, Taco Bell,
Starting point is 01:31:40 Brahms on a road trip, I'd choose Brahms because it's like different. Yeah. But if I live next to one, A, if you live by a Brahms, you probably live by a Whataburger. So that's an obvious choice. But yeah,
Starting point is 01:31:52 that's my... Order is, they have like a Pepper Jack, like any kind of spicy burger. I like spicy stuff. So Pepper Jack Burger with a chocolate malt. Malt. My options are limited at a place like Brahmsms so it's kind of culver's so yeah it's either i go for the cod sandwich
Starting point is 01:32:12 or chicken tenders no one's ever been happy saying i'll get the cod sandwich i'll get the cod i guess i'll have cod so oh, oh God, I'll take it. So yeah, I go with the chicken tenders. Did they ask us about ice cream? Did I make that up? Credit cod. They said, what's like rank your best ice creams? Oh, I think it's hard to beat what Wendy's does with a frosty.
Starting point is 01:32:35 That's pretty good cream. That is good. I'm a big Dairy Queen fan. Oh, I don't frequent that place often. Kind of forget about it. Okay. If it's, if yeah, i like frozen custard over ice cream oh yeah love custard so like since we have that around i don't ever go to the ice cream places
Starting point is 01:32:50 but if i had to choose i would choose dairy queen yeah problems are good problems is really good problems got they know their way around some dairy products yeah that's what we've always said then again at the at the end of it all end of the day it's a milkshake they're amazing like ice cream's phenomenal yeah it's like it's cream and sugar yeah lamar's or krispy kreme if there's four of them i don't care sure you know we'll go with it i'll figure it out yeah it's fried dough with a bunch of sugar on it yes please yeah i'll take it yeah exactly uh but hey thanks madison and emma hey what's going on jake and Brad? My name is Maxi.
Starting point is 01:33:25 I'm from Houston, Texas. And I think I just may be the only Nigerian that listened to this podcast. If there are any others out there, leave a voice message and prove me wrong. But until then, I'm claiming to be the undisputed Nigerian affiliate of the podcast. Jake, Brad, I was wondering, do any of you guys have any nigerian friends at all have you tried nigerian cuisine if you have let me know um other question is i'm going through my second run of the podcast episodes and one of the episodes jake and brad mentioned the fact that based on all the inside jokes that they've had over the episodes they could we could put together a
Starting point is 01:34:04 some type of trivia. And I thought that that'd be really fun. So what do you guys think? Let's actually get this going. I'm down. You down? I'm down for it. Let's do it.
Starting point is 01:34:14 Let's make it happen. Maxi. Maxi. The Nigerian affiliate. Our Nigerian prince. I'd say you got it. As far as we know. As far as we know.
Starting point is 01:34:24 No one has said that to me explicitly thus far. Dude, isn't that crazy that he's been, he's, he's going through his second time listening to this and we've never heard of him. We didn't even have any contact. Like, that's the crazy thing to me. Like all these people that order merch, I'm like, I don't know who you are. You know, so many people, like, I'm like, oh yeah, I recognize that name. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:34:40 Hannon Mansberger. Of course. Like, you know, whatever. But like, Maxie, where you been dog? I wonder if it's like, if it seems like we seem bigger than we are like i don't totally i can't emphasize enough how small we are like i don't hit up joe santagato because i've been listening to his podcast for a couple years because i'm like this dude has a million followers what am i gonna say love the podcast dude you know whatever yeah but it's like we're small enough like we can remember your name yeah like maxi yeah that was
Starting point is 01:35:05 my ex-girlfriend's name in college i'm gonna remember maxi remember that yeah she was white as can be but yeah she but she was not nigerian she was yeah but she she was not and maxi from texas i'm gonna remember you yeah heck yeah in a different way that i remember her so i'm gonna be real honest i don't know anything about nigeria i just know it's in africa so i looked it up because i was gonna try to like compare him like yeah nigerian i don't know anything about Nigeria. I just know it's in Africa. So I looked it up because I was going to try to compare him. Like, yeah, Nigerian. I don't know any Nigerians, but I know Ethiopians. And my dad's been to Malawi.
Starting point is 01:35:31 But those are so far away from Nigeria and Africa. It just happens to be the same continent. It's just African. So I'm like, that's silly. So don't say that on the podcast. I don't know much about Nigeria. One of my best friends in college, Manny. We mentioned him last week on the podcast.
Starting point is 01:35:45 He is originally from Ghana. Is that close to Nigeria? That is close. Holy cow. That's really close. I'm going to freak out. As close as, way closer than Malawi and Ethiopia.
Starting point is 01:35:55 I'll say that. Okay. So yeah, I would say it's a, give me, if it was US States, if Nigeria is Missouri, where is Ghana?
Starting point is 01:36:04 Oh, Ghana is in Kansas city. I don't know. Let me see. states. If Nigeria is Missouri, where is Ghana? Oh, Ghana is in Kansas City. I don't know. Let me see the scale. So Ghana is a city. It is inside. Ghana is in Kansas. It's halfway inside of Nigeria.
Starting point is 01:36:11 Wait, wait, wait. No, Nigeria is bigger than I think. Nigeria is probably the size of. That was such a bad example. Shut your mouth. Well, whatever. It's not far. I guess Nigeria is probably the size of.
Starting point is 01:36:23 What state would Ghana be? Oklahoma and Kansas. I'm trying to look at the scale real quick. Just give me a second. I don't is probably the size of Oklahoma and Kansas. I'm trying to look at the scale real quick. Just give me a second. I don't care about the scale. Where is it at? East, west, north, south? Where is it at?
Starting point is 01:36:31 Ghana is west of Nigeria. Okay, gotcha. Yeah. So Ghana is Kansas. But you don't know how close it is. I don't. I was trying to figure out. I was just looking for a direction.
Starting point is 01:36:41 I would say if, whatever. Keep going, keep going, keep going. If Nigeria is Kansas and Oklahoma, it's the size of that, just looking for a direction i would say if if whatever you keep going keep going keep going if if nigeria is kansas and oklahoma it's the size of that then ghana would be in denver colorado west of okay kansas that's good yeah thank you yeah i should give you some time i should give you some time graduating over here i wanted yeah some instant graduation how about that yeah that's right dude last week when we were what were we riffing on it was like the uh i feel the cat stuff feline good or whatever i don't know it was like five things that are rather set back i was like dang really that was special i remember that that's a quicker
Starting point is 01:37:13 i barely do i can't really remember the puns or whatever but thank you imagine if you and i are like roasting rich together like back and forth if i mean yeah you get a little time to think about what you have to say because someone else is up there someday someday baby someday no that's really cool though maxi thanks for listening and i would love to try nigerian cuisine i don't even know i'm so ignorant to nigeria i don't know oh i'm extremely like i don't know anything about it i mean imagine they got some kind of like do you have white meat like naan or something but that's kind of indian so i don't know i'm so just guessing foreign food you might use chopsticks because i know that's something people do abroad yeah like are you guys the sushi people or is that somebody else how far east do i have to go tell you it's sushi people you guys that's probably not the right thing to say either
Starting point is 01:38:00 but um anyway we'd love to try it maxi all right let's do one last voice memo hey jake and brad this is amay uh first of all i was floored when you read my youtube comment this last week i just finished up with episode 106 and i just wanted to thank you for making my monday second jake great try my name it's french so i can forgive that it said ame like amazing without the zing okay a little trick i learned when working with kids at summer camp i like that uh to clarify i was in maui and we went to the cinnamon roll place multiple days in a row so delicious i personally believe you should go on beach vacations with friends who are totally willing to spend their time eating cinnamon rolls rather than just tanning second uh i guess i have a question for
Starting point is 01:38:49 you as a gal who's always up for an adventure what is your preferred method of piggyback transportation would you rather fly or drive um how long does it take the drive to be before you decide to fly anyway it looks like i'm running out of time so i'm gonna let you go bye bye bye now amay amazing grace uh that's cool that's way cooler than amy i like that way cooler do you have to have any kind of like is it a license or something to name your your kid something french i think i might like to name my kid something french i would love that like i don't need any kind of like qualifications or any kind of prerequisites. I mean, Carlos sure seemed like a white guy to me, right? That's a good point.
Starting point is 01:39:27 Like I can name my kids Jacques. Yes. You're Jean-Claude. That'd be awesome. Jacques Vaughn. You know who that is? Jacques Vaughn. He was the first man in space who was left-handed.
Starting point is 01:39:38 That's right. Man, I went from Scott Pollard to Jacques Vaughn. Just all these like old KU basketball players who were like five years old. Went to the NBA though. Like good enough. You would actually love them. You kind of model your game after Jacques Vaughn. Just all these like old KU basketball players who are like five years old. Went to the NBA though. Like good enough. You would actually love them. You kind of model your game after Jacques Vaughn.
Starting point is 01:39:50 Hey guys, come May 27th. Come see Jean-Claude in action. We'll see. Jean-Claude. What's his name? Jacques Vaughn. Jacques Vaughn. Yeah, he's awesome. Vagabond.
Starting point is 01:39:56 I don't think he's French. Janelle Mongeau. Janelle Mongeau. What was the question? It was like fly or drive. Oh yeah. How far is the drive until you choose fly? Okay, we talked about this a long time ago.
Starting point is 01:40:08 Yes. But I think I have a new answer, and I think it's a formula-based answer. So I think because I've realized if I fly to Texas, by the time I drive to the airport, have to get there early, fly down there, drive from the airport back to Catherine's house, it's only saving me maybe an hour and a half or something like that. So there's gotta be like a formula of like, if you take the time, you know, you have to like quantify your time. Like how much is 30 minutes of your time worth? Give that a dollar amount. And then maybe like, yeah, I know I'm making it way more complicated, but that's how I would think in my head of like, I would just drive, you know, it's going to take a couple more
Starting point is 01:40:40 hours, but there's more, there's more Brahms on the way. There's a, you know, I will say when Catherine's driving you to Texas, you were super super efficient you were like doing a lot of that was awesome yes i she she i was about to say she never drives now she's like driving like half the time and it's amazing i love it it's amazing i also love that when she was like just say it's amazing without the z i love like the idea of you being like my name's jake just if you need help remember it it's like jake nificent without the nificent. Just take that off. Yeah. You don't need it. Don't need it. All right. I worked at a summer camp. I figured out how to make people remember it. Um, so, but yeah, something like that where it's like, okay, you know, it'll, if it saves me
Starting point is 01:41:19 four hours or more, probably I would probably fly. Yeah. Okay. I love flying. I think it's, you know, especially still because of the pandemic, like flight prices are cheaper than average right now. Like I would definitely come to our basketball game on May 27th and fly here if you have to. But then again, so yeah, I mean, I definitely choose flying. I think once it gets like, like I drove to Oklahoma city a few weekends ago, that was like five and a half hours. So that might be on the brink of what I'm willing to do so like denver chicago dallas anything like push it seven eight hours i'm flying i think i think that's my radius do you i have a i have a differing opinion if i'm driving by myself than if i'm driving i was saying but i bet you have the
Starting point is 01:41:58 different opinion for me with that opinion meaning if i'm driving by myself i'm more likely i would i would be more enjoyable to like drive a long distance probably you too yeah i think so okay i thought you were gonna say like no i love having people with me i don't know i guess it kind of depends on the person probably a little bit but no but even like katherine like my favorite person in the world like if if she were like hey let's drive to maine tomorrow i'd be like i don't know if i want to like i love you so much but let's just fly to acadia but'd be like, I don't know if I want to do that. Like, I love you so much, but let's just fly to Acadia. But like,
Starting point is 01:42:27 if it's just me by myself, like I can stop whenever I want to, I can eat whatever I want, you know, like whatever the rules are. Like, but if you feel like you have stuff to do, then you are not going to be efficient while you're driving.
Starting point is 01:42:37 Really? You know, you can't be on your computer while you're driving. So it's like, I got stuff I need to do. Yeah. I could use co-pilot. Very true.
Starting point is 01:42:43 Yeah. Whereas I use flying to catch up on sleep. And that's what I love about it. Even though I'm not getting stuff done, but I can sleep. Like once you get there, you're good. Mindless. Yep. Yep.
Starting point is 01:42:51 Yeah. So. Because we actually hit, this is funny. My cousin, we're taking a vacation in Colorado this summer with my extended family. Cousin's from Austin. They have three kids. So his wife and the three kids are all flying up to Colorado and he's going to drive and meet them, which is so funny to me.
Starting point is 01:43:06 Like, yeah. Like, how's that work? Anyway. But I think because they're like got a minivan and they're like trying to like have all the car seats and all that stuff. Oh, that makes sense. And so Catherine and I were talking about it and I was like, oh man, I would much rather be the wife in that situation flying.
Starting point is 01:43:19 She's like flying with three kids. Oh, I would love to drive. It's a 12 hour drive by yourself. She's like, yeah, it's a 12 hour drive by yourself. Like she thought it sounded great. I was like, I don't think I would want to do that. You know? So it's just funny. Like catch 22. Yeah. Like to me, I'm like, I could like bear the tough flight by myself with three kids for a few hours, man, you know, flying with three kids and one of them is a newborn. Like that is just a different world than I'm in right now. I can't even imagine it.
Starting point is 01:43:48 What if, what if they were just like, Hey, do you mind taking one of our kids on the, you know, in line? Like somebody just, you're,
Starting point is 01:43:53 you're there at a 27. Did you ever babysit growing up? Yeah. Hey, why don't you take, why don't you take Samantha? You've seen a kid. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:43:59 For an hour and a half. She should be pretty self-sufficient. Just give her the tablet. She'll be fine. Just tell you if she gets hungry, lift up your shirt. She'll figure it out. All right. You'll figure it out. she'll figure it out all right you'll figure it out she'll figure it out yeah yeah she'll figure it out before you do i'll tell you that i'm gonna get it primed oh
Starting point is 01:44:10 my gosh so anyway thanks amay yeah that's fun uh come to our game may 27th may 27th may 27th uh mxc might be there yeah maybe maybe i may what are you are you yes or no honestly i'm a maybe i'm a maybe maybe maybe uh one more thing i thought of just to throw in there if you come to the basketball game may 27th uh you were probably going to find out two secrets about me what does that mean i'm just gonna leave it open ended yeah what does that mean imagine your worst yeah comment below what your secret is or what you think jake's secret is is handicapped he is paralyzed from the waist down has two left feet literally i had no i've never seen his feet it's all photoshopped yeah um it might be something physical it might be a a um yeah some sort of something else yeah yeah i can't think of the word okay uh but yeah just
Starting point is 01:45:08 another you know just throw it in the pot like that's also going to be there if you come yep so awesome that's it and may 27th and may 27th let's uh let's let's get some shout out to some five star reviews shall we let's do it we're we're getting a little bit dry on uh five star well i think it's because people haven't been able to listen on apple in two weeks so it's like no one's getting on the apple podcast app um so we've only got i'll tell you one person that got it though it was honestly hillary oh see i don't even see that one oh no i'm sorry that's that's an old one oh i like that one though that's my review of the weeks from october 9th of 2019 honestly hillary says my mom thinks you're relatable. I listened to a couple episodes with my mom on a road trip.
Starting point is 01:45:48 I asked her what she thought. She said, I think these guys are funny because they're relatable somehow. Thanks for making us laugh. Honestly, Hillary. We should talk about more things from October 2019 on the podcast, I think. That'd be fun. Let's do it. This is a good time in our life.
Starting point is 01:46:00 Isaac was turning 19. Good times. It was a good month for him. Yeah. My review of the week comes from Toppy Hat. And it was from. That was a good one too. A few days ago,
Starting point is 01:46:08 which is, you know, still fun. That's fine. It was from May 17th, which is 10 days away from May 27th, which is our basketball game, Kansas City,
Starting point is 01:46:16 Hy-Vee Arena. Where Maxie is a maybe to come. He or she says, I was not a podcast person until I found Jacob Brad. To me, comma, good usage. Podcasts make you feel like the third wheel who has no idea how to fit in.
Starting point is 01:46:27 However, listening to Jacob Brad is like having two best friends over to the house. I made my brother listen to it, and now he's a huge fan as well. My boyfriend hasn't learned to love you yet, but he will. Thanks for the constant laughs and new inside jokes that I randomly say aloud to myself. Y'all are groovy. Keep it up, fellas.
