Episode Date: September 6, 2021

So many travel stories this episode! Jake has been to Hawaii and Brad has been to Branson and both of our experiences were practically identical. Also this is definitely our best episode that features... an entire song in pseudo-Spanish. Starting point is 00:00:00 Brad, we've both been a little travel boys recently. You were in Branson. I was in Hawaii. Basically the same place. Almost indistinguishable. And I think there's something we travel a decent out. There's something every kind of traveler is different. Every kind of vacation is a little different.
Starting point is 00:00:15 But there's also like very annoying types of travelers. Like there's the classic like type A, like we got to we got to do this, this, this, this. Oh, yeah. I will never travel with anyone with a spreadsheet unlike a vacation yeah i feel like there is uh like one kind of like obnoxious travelers like someone who like definitely wants to let you know that they travel like this is not like rare for me to travel like oh you didn't even like you thought you had to take off your shoes still like oh gosh that hasn't been around for three months it's like three months that's not that long like uh yeah like you're traveling like oh my that hasn't been around for three months it's like three months that's not that
Starting point is 00:00:45 long like uh yeah like you're traveling like oh my gosh this actually reminds me i mean this this waterfall is cool but it's nothing like south sudan oh you should see it out down there and it's like i guess i have to trust you i've never heard of a south sudan waterfall that's awesome yeah i don't i didn't know that they had water down or you have to trust me you know the uz the uzbeks uzbekis have a word for having to trust when you don't know that they had water down there. Or you have to trust me. You know, the Uzbeks, Uzbekis, have a word for having to trust when you don't know. Having to trust while also being very sweaty.
Starting point is 00:01:11 Like, okay, you're making stuff at this point. Like, oh, you think that pineapple's good? You should have the pineapple I tried on Maui. They have to say on. On Maui. On top of Maui. Yeah. Now that was a pineapple.
Starting point is 00:01:23 This is nothing. It's like, let me enjoy my time. All right. I thought it was nice. So that's one kind of Maui. Yeah. Now that, now that was a pineapple. This is nothing. It's like, like, let me enjoy my time. All right. I thought it was nice. So that's one kind of annoying travel. I feel like there's also like when I went to a Tulum a couple of years ago,
Starting point is 00:01:32 just like being in a Spanish culture, like brought out. Oh yeah. Sometimes the worst in people, you know, like, um, on one,
Starting point is 00:01:40 well, like there's Spanish everywhere. We didn't really go to a resort or whatever. So people were always like speaking Spanish to us. Yeah. I always think it's funny. Like, like whenever I go to Spanish speaking places, like some people like will literally like not even want to acknowledge the person that speaks Spanish. They're like, like the Spanish speaking person will say something and they'll be like, uh, Brad, get over here. It's like, you can at least say like no comprendo or something. No hablo Espanol. But it was like Brad. Yeah. I've been to Mexico a few times on mission trips and there's always been like the guy that like, you can at least say like, no comprendo or something. No hablo espanol. But it was like, Brad.
Starting point is 00:02:05 Yeah. I've been to Mexico a few times on mission trips. And there's always been like the guy that like just comes to build the house. Like he's a good old boy. Don't talk to me. Who just comes like doesn't know a lick of Spanish. And I would love him to just be like, hola, pero, no comprendo. No comprendo.
Starting point is 00:02:24 All right. No comprendo. Huh comprendo. All right. No comprendo. Huh? Compre... Yeah. Listen here, senor. I don't comprendo you, all right? Like, you know, like, just like, me lamo, Teddy.
Starting point is 00:02:39 Like, not even somewhat trying to, like, assimilate or, like, sound like... Me to polo together. Let's eat it. Oh, I think this type means that it's going down with some random thoughts and white meat to Midwest best friends eating fast food on repeat. So come along. Let's have some fun and go ahead. Get on your feet.
Starting point is 00:03:02 This is the Ghost Rubs Podcast. So maybe that is Branson combining with Hawaii right there. That was a Branson Hawaii mix. Yeah. And I'm sure we have a lot of the same stories from our travels this week. I would say almost exactly. We can just go back to back. Like your hike hike versus my hike i saw a waterfall in branson your waterfall versus my waterfall yeah i ate pineapples and branson i'm sure no yes you did a fantasy football draft i did a fantasy football draft except i it was at 9 30 a.m american time
Starting point is 00:03:41 yeah 4 30 a.m hawaiian time so okay i paid gunner to do it yeah how do you do uh not bad you know he drafted gus edwards and then since the draft jk dobbins has a injury yeah so he's thanks gutter that was good also he drafted jamis winston before he was announced the starter thank goodness he was announced the starter knows yeah gutter's got the inside scoop so he did a lot of questionable things that worked out well for us. Yeah. Which is smart. That's that's Gunner for you. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:07 Smart guy. Also, he has COVID right now. I didn't know that until he was like, yeah, I'm almost done with my quarantine. So I guess we should hang out. He's just playing it safe. Yeah. I was quarantined for Labor Day. I don't want to be sick.
Starting point is 00:04:19 It's a big holiday for those late goers, you know? Yeah. I bet this is hurting him. It's like a Super Bowl out there. Yeah. It's like, ah, I just can't make it out to the lake. Got to quarantine. And a bummer for us, the one friend we know with a boat.
Starting point is 00:04:28 Right. Labor Day weekend. Apparently has COVID. Oh, yeah. Convenient. Sorry, I can't take you guys out. Check his location. Yeah, he's on the lake, but he's like, I'm just staying by myself. No, quarantined solo.
Starting point is 00:04:37 Yeah. I'm actually on a paddle boat right now. Oh, man. But how was Hawaii? Let's talk about it. I know a little bit about it already because we had you over for dinner a couple days ago but yes brad and katherine tell us the details for the viewers brad katherine hattie and beau had isaac and i over for dinner because you guys went to maui this spring yes you guys wanted to hear all about it we wanted to hear like let's let's reminisce
Starting point is 00:04:56 let's talk about it yeah and so we told you guys pretty much everything about the trip and and even on correct opinions earlier this week last week i guess now you're listening to this yeah i shared so many stories and i still think i have more stories to share which is great i don't know what you said on correct opinions i'm sorry i haven't listened to that one yet you said this was the most jam-packed uh vacation you've ever been on i think so and typically i like to jam pack them regardless and this still felt like the most just like active plus like a birthday thrown in like i was already like three days into it already feeling like oh wow i haven't like checked my phone like hardly at all yeah like i would check like jean short stuff i would watch like yeah the videos derrick would send over you know but like personal stuff is like either a we're doing
Starting point is 00:05:36 something or two i am driving us somewhere so there's just no time to like yeah that's the time you catch up with is when somebody else is driving and if you're you check your phone yeah absolutely so but i was just driving esteban's minivan to 2019 dodge caravan it just hit the spot that's swaggy van it didn't drive that well no but it got the job done it fit all of us in there so um oh yeah then with the birthday thrown in the middle now right now i'm real behind on stuff so um but it's okay uh the trip is awesome uh going into it i think i told either you or isaac i was like you know one like little thing i'm looking forward to about this trip is like just getting eight hours of sleep a day i think that'll be so nice like i never sleep eight hours but on vacation like this will be so easy i came so far from like getting a combined eight hours of sleep i think it
Starting point is 00:06:20 was unreal yeah how little we slept the first day because it's a five hour time difference the first day you wake up early regardless right you know just like The first day, because it's a five-hour time difference. The first day, you wake up early regardless. Right. And you feel pretty good, is my experience. I was like, I feel great. I woke right up at 5.30. Jason and I talked on the porch for a while. Everyone was kind of awake at that time.
Starting point is 00:06:35 It was like, let's start our day. Yeah. And then, of course, by 12 hours later, I'm not ready to go to bed at a normal hour. Right. It's like 11.30, 12. I'm like, well, what'd we put on a movie? You know, whatever.
Starting point is 00:06:46 So, um, didn't sleep much, but had so much fun. The whole crew was like, there's only five of us. So that probably factored into it. But I think this is the most I've ever like meshed with like an entire group on like a
Starting point is 00:06:59 trip that I've been on. It's a dangerous number, but I think it's a good number. It's bad for pickleball, but it was terrible for pickleball. It was fine for, uh, for Maui. I think it's, I think it's a dangerous number if you don't connect with one of those people. Cause if it's obvious, cause like usually if there's six, seven, that one person that doesn't connect with the other four, find
Starting point is 00:07:15 somebody else. But with five, it's like, you better all connect or else there's issues. Yeah. That's a really good point. If you connect, it's like, this is great. Yeah. It was just, we were all just on the same page for like the whole time. Everyone was super go with the flow, easy going. We would just kind of talk about like, this hike looks good. We would do very minimal research.
Starting point is 00:07:32 We're like, all right, let's do it. You know, like it was easy. You can do that quick. Yeah. Six, seven, struggles. It's taking longer. You got two cars. All of a sudden you're like,
Starting point is 00:07:39 hey, we're going to this place. You know, we're doing this. It's like, this is tough. Okay, well, Samantha wants to stop. She needs chapstick. So we're going to stop at at a gas station but we'll meet you there address yeah yeah no no problem here we didn't stop for nothing dude how is this is such a little thing but how much how expensive was the gas in hawaii i think like 409 that's it sorry i feel like it's like i feel like it like went crazy high in the regular united states the right you know what i mean like
Starting point is 00:08:04 the real United States. Isn't it crazy that Hawaii is part of America? Yes, it really is. It's unreal. Isaac, like, oh, it was so fun traveling with Isaac because he won. I mean, like, did he try to like be like, oh, wait, it was so fun traveling with Isaac for about 25 different reasons. I don't even know which one I even want to say right now.
Starting point is 00:08:23 One, he could, which I was right there with him my first time ever going to hawaii i couldn't well there's so many things i couldn't get over one just how they only use nine letters two how i can't pronounce any of them three how it's still part of america like this is crazy i can't even believe they accept u.s dollars here it just seems so foreign um and for he could not get over the maui airport not having doors like it being like half indoor and half outdoor. It is kind of crazy. No, it really is. And my first time doing that.
Starting point is 00:08:49 Look, in Nepal, they have an airport. I've seen it. Oh, buddy. They use Becky's. They have a word for indoor outdoor airports. But I mean, it was just like we had we left the airport an hour and he's like, so what if it rains? What if it's like a like a monsoon at the airport? What happens to that? I was like, get over the airport an hour and he's like, so what if it rains? Like what if it's like a, like a monsoon at the airport? Like what happens to that? I was like, get over the airport.
Starting point is 00:09:09 We're going to the beach. Yeah. You really think those like glass doors are really going to protect it from a monsoon that much anyway. That's funny though. I didn't think twice about it until you said that. I was like, yeah, they don't have doors like going in and out. There's no like, Oh, I'm entering the airport or I don't know. You're just kind of on a different sidewalk now. so i wonder if that's normal for like tropical places
Starting point is 00:09:28 i don't know i don't know it was becca standards it wasn't that tropical no uh but then as soon as we pick up jace from the airport like he just met this guy 30 seconds into the car ride so did you notice there weren't any doors what do i say jace so just let's talk about doors let's talk about the doors and the lack of doors uh so it's pretty funny do they bond off the doors they bonded off a lot of things i think just being in great physical shape yeah having their shirt off a lot showing to me that they are in great physical shape yeah right not having a massive bruise on their great physical shape uh i was struggling with all those things when did the bruise come for you because you got you
Starting point is 00:10:03 got a huge bruise if you don't follow triple Jake on Instagram. Thank you. I think it was on my birthday. Cause it was, it was a great day. It was like 18 holes of golf, flyboarding, big old bruise.
Starting point is 00:10:12 Yeah. Um, Pokey balls. Oh yeah. You love, I love raw fish. Um, was it like one of those things where they like,
Starting point is 00:10:22 that's probably not because you went to Pokey bowls, but like, did they coddle you too much on your birthday like call me like like every single decision had to go through jake it's his birthday kind of thing no it was a nice balance of like i was like taken into account what i wanted to do but i wasn't like whatever jake wants we'll do it because i would have been like no because i hate that yeah i would feel way too self-conscious of like yeah let's let's make sure everyone wants to do this. I'm not 11. So yeah.
Starting point is 00:10:47 No, it was great. It was a nice little balance and perfect day. So was, oh, Isaac. So yeah, there's just so many things. Him trying to give me directions, like him sitting shotgun, trying to tell me what street to turn on in Hawaii was amazing. That's where eventually I was like,
Starting point is 00:10:59 Catherine, just give me the phone. Like, cause she tried, she tried really hard. Like, okay, you're going to turn right in 0.25 miles at high, high, high, high, high, like a Wawa. And I was like, I was like, by the time you try to get that out, I'm going to be there. We're going to be gone. I need that.
Starting point is 00:11:15 I just give me it. Like I could look down and do this. Yeah. You're on this for four miles and then just take, it says veer left on Mount, uh, hold on. Let me start. Hi, hi, hi. Hi, hi, hiki, hiki, hiki.
Starting point is 00:11:30 How about Kiwi? How about Kiwi? Haki, Haki Paki. This one just says Kiwi. Kiwi. Kiwi? Haki Paki. You, me, we.
Starting point is 00:11:39 Yeah. We go. Away we go. A wiki case. It's like, what is's happening are you having a seizure over there it says kiki do you love me turn right on kiki do you love me that's a weird turn right on 2018 and you will be there be there on kiki do you miss me oh man so that was fun and i noticed makes me think of element we bought a limo randomly i remember that one time david
Starting point is 00:12:01 made us film him dance in the street that was like one of the first uh episodes wasn't it it was the washington it was the washington dc it was like episode 10 or 11 probably really yeah i thought it was new york uh but yeah it was dc oh man yeah that was weird i enjoyed it to be honest uh i want to say more but i'm not good good call dude i should do a just jake episode on just the things I can't talk about publicly on that trip. That'd be so fun. Give you the gossip. But anyway, back to Mount Hickey Hockey and Isaac's pronunciations.
Starting point is 00:12:31 I've noticed that I think it's starting to affect him even now back in the States. In the mainland, he's having trouble. He assimilated too much. Yeah, he like got really good at saying Haleakala. And now he can't be like... Johnson Drive gives him trouble. Right, yeah.
Starting point is 00:12:44 Ma'een Street? Isaac, you want me to turn on Ma'een? What is Ma'een? There's no apostrophe. And now you can't be like Johnson drive gives them trouble, right? Yeah. My, my, my in street. I say you only turn on my in my, what is my in? There's no, there's no apostrophe. It's just, you say main. Yeah. Give me the, that says main street. Okay. It's, it's saying in, in 0.75 miles to veer onto the highway. It's highway. What are you talking about? The high Hawaii way.
Starting point is 00:13:06 No, dude. It's just, just he's like I don't know man practice some aloha and just turn there yeah I was like do you want to should we put an order and stop at Chilele it's Chili's dude just say it I know you know how to say this
Starting point is 00:13:21 have you been to Hawaiian Bros yet since you've been back? No, I probably should. Like he pronounces that perfectly. That was like, I really wanted to go to Hawaiian Bros when we got back because it was like, I miss Hawaii so much. Now I get it. This will get my fix. And then I went there and there was like a map of Hawaii.
Starting point is 00:13:37 I took a picture and sent it to Catherine like, check it out. See? Hawaii. So, okay. How badly do you like want to go back to Hawaii or Maui? Uh, I don't know how to answer that like succinctly, but bad. Give me, show me with your hands. Like how much? How deep the father's love baby. Yeah, absolutely. Like as much as I can, I want to go back. I don't know if like where my priority lies for that. Like, cause I want to go to other places
Starting point is 00:14:03 too. And I don't have that many opportunities to travel, but yeah, I want to go back to Hawaii quick. It's so fun, dude. Yeah. I was thinking I looked up flights last night and two nights before that. And on our flight back from Hawaii, are they getting more expensive? So I, what I did is I, uh, cause I think it would make sense for me to go kind of around Christmas time.
Starting point is 00:14:21 Like once the tour is over, um, you know, once I've gotten traveling, let traveling let's do some more traveling but you know i think we'll be working pretty hard so i think that's a good time trey will be on vacation so i was looking i was like man flights are pretty expensive around yeah it seems like a nice christmas time oh wow christmas time it's whoa how like a leaky expensive so i looked and once you hit de 30th, they get cheap again. Oh really? I acted like I was going to book a one way flight to Hawaii and just would change the day just one at a time. Yeah. And they're still not crazy.
Starting point is 00:14:53 Even flying Southwest. It was still like one way on Christmas Eve, still like $450. Okay. So that's obviously not ideal. Christmas day is like the cheap one. Cheapest days to travel. At least it used to be.
Starting point is 00:15:03 Did you check that? I was only looking on Southwest cause that's where my points are but i don't even think they had any flights on christmas oh really we flew on christmas day back from florida one time and there was like it was like yeah flying back from a destination on christmas is the way to do it yeah okay there you go because trey and katie they're going straight from our last tourist stop to hawaii there's packing their bags and flying straight from like detroit to hawaii nice and trey said he could fly one way direct first class back from hawaii on christmas eve cheaper than just like a coach ticket to get there interesting because no one's flying from hawaii
Starting point is 00:15:33 yeah right now if you're if you're going to hawaii no one's really excited to leave hawaii on christmas to go to minnesota let's go back to edmond let's go to duluth yeah like so that's interesting anyway so i'm just Isaac and I think you're gonna do it might go back in December yeah I've just got it all planned out there's like two and a half things we didn't get to do in Maui and just so many things that are on Kauai that I just need to go back and see yeah so that was another type thing it was so tough for me to keep my mouth shut right like Maui is obviously beautiful it's still Hawaii but I'm like you guys don't even know you guys don't even know I You guys don't even know. You were the braggy traveler.
Starting point is 00:16:05 I was the annoying traveler. In my head, I was. I tried to not say it out loud too much. I'm like, guys, like half of Maui is a desert. It's brown. Yeah. The other islands aren't like this. Like they're lush and so green and they're so mountainous.
Starting point is 00:16:16 Maui is like very gradual. And I feel like Kauai is just like nuts. Just mountains everywhere. Waterfalls are like, you don't need to hike to see a waterfall. They're just like around you. It's like, it's like the mcdonald's parking lot waterfall oh that's just sewage okay that's actually that's not supposed to be there i mean don't don't put your feet in but you're fine you can look at it yeah uh so yeah i'm fired up i think i might go
Starting point is 00:16:36 back to hawaii in december dude maybe i need to i need to have a conversation with trey and ask how much money i'm gonna get paid for the tour and i think that'll help convince me like book a flight pretty soon yeah is that a comfortable conversation to have? No. Hey, so like, uh, this thing that I'm doing regardless, like how much money are you going to pay me? It is kind of tough. I hope Trey doesn't listen to this, but I'm like, Hey, this thing I would totally do for
Starting point is 00:16:55 free. Yeah. Am I going to get paid like a thousand dollars a show? Dude, that's what I go through with jean shorts even like, like, uh, like, yeah, you control my destiny right now. Like, like whatever you say, I'll say yes to it because it's just a great opportunity. Yeah. It's like, it's like, I wouldn't mind, you know, some cheddar.
Starting point is 00:17:10 Yeah. We don't have a lot of bargaining power here. Exactly. It's like, it's like who, no, I'm not going to work with Trey because there's another Kansas city influencer that has 2 million followers. Who's a Christian and clean and knows my best friend that I can work for. So no thanks. Like I'm going, I'm going,
Starting point is 00:17:30 yeah. Like there's nobody who, who would it be? Jared Myers? No. That's great. Yeah. Trey's given me multiple raises and I'm like, why? If anything, maybe a decrease. I'm surprised you're paying me more money like i didn't know what why what for it's just you're gonna i don't know he's just a nice guy it's just a nice guy so huh anyway um okay so maybe hawaii in december yeah i think it might just go back and also i think i do think it'd be fun to go somewhere for new year's eve because new year's eve is kind of like a lame holiday yeah like we always talk about this like yeah you feel like you should have big plans and you never do no one ever does anything cool new year's eve because new year's eve is kind of like a lame holiday yeah like we always talk about this like yeah you feel like you should have big plans and you never do no one ever does anything cool on new year's eve especially when you're in your hometown but if i was at a luau sucking down on some
Starting point is 00:18:12 and they're doing it for like 10 nine eight three two one that would be amazing like everyone's doing with this i will shake mine and you will shake yours no i will not oh that's what i imagined happening at a luau i don't know what a luau is exactly but i just imagine like that exact noise the whole time. You guys got to see this on YouTube. It's really good.
Starting point is 00:18:49 You know what that sounds? There was a YouTube video that like went like, like what they were saying. We had no idea. That was like me with the Africa children's choir when I was little. Oh, Scott's going to love to knock, to knock, to getting mentioned in here in Logan. What's up Logan? Oh man. Oh wow.
Starting point is 00:19:17 Okay. Anyway, you know, to knock, to knock, to actually has a different transit. No. Um, yeah, that would be fun. A luau for the ball dropping. Dang. Can we, on this, on the Spotify audio version, let's play to knock, to knock, actually has a different translate no um yeah that would be fun luau for the ball dropping dang can we on this on the spotify audio version let's play to knock to knock tune to end this thing oh like when the yeah it's over everyone gets to listen to it oh my gosh dude i'm telling you like i don't know i think i was on the cutting edge of that song like i got into it early that was like my sophomore year of high school i was so into it if i start playing the beginning of it do you think you could like it would come to you and you could remember the rest of it i don't know
Starting point is 00:19:51 let's try i think i just nailed it right there so do you want a remix do you want the original um Let me see what it looks like. I think I want the original. Okay. Surely I want the original. I'm out of breath from all this. All this Aloha Luau talk. I don't remember this part very well. Let me fast forward to the music a little bit.
Starting point is 00:20:26 It gets going. it gets going quick guys are you ready? alright and then after they do that for a while they go somebody write us a jingle to that you're gonna get me pumped oh my gosh wow anyway where's the cover was that an indian song i mean stereotypically it definitely looks like it's indian but and just like the way these words are spelled like m-e-h-n-d-i mindy that looks like new delhi that's like exactly the same exactly the same as New Delhi
Starting point is 00:21:06 anyway your turn to tell me about the um the your your Branson trip and the pronunciations and the airports there yeah Sugar Hollow Road and everything like that uh man Branson was so much fun dude I'm sure it was not it wasn't like Hawaii I don't think but I bet we had like similar amounts of fun though I had so much fun yeah I was looking forward to it it was one of those things where it was like I was looking forward to it so much and it met my expectations which is rare you know like I'm a little tired yeah yeah sorry um and but yeah it was it was it was for fantasy football but it was all my friends from Kanakuk or a lot of them that we stay close with and I think there were like nine of us that went and yeah we said branson things we just like
Starting point is 00:21:46 like things that aren't that exciting but like were so fun to us one of the most exciting things or most fun things we did was play ultimate four square which is like it's so much fun so if you guys don't know it's like you play four square but it's like two people to a square and it's like a really big room and two people per square oh yeah dude like two people per square you play with this massive ball it's like like the biggest exercise ball you can think of basically and you can play off the walls and like bounce it off things and everything and it's so much fun but one of the reasons i think it's so much fun is because it's so rare to find the right space for it like like there's you can't just play it right here in our basement like you can't like not even it's gonna be huge it has to be huge but it can't be too huge because then it's
Starting point is 00:22:27 like oh that was too impossible to get that ball it's like it has to be like the perfect size and so this place in at canna cook is perfect for it and so played some of that played uh pickleball a few times oh nice taught most of my friends how to play which is kind of fun oh sweet like oh brad's the pickleball guy let's play with with Brad. And so I looked like a stud a few times. Like, Oh wow, Brad, how'd you do that?
Starting point is 00:22:47 It's like, I don't know. I've just played before, but, um, and big news, Jake, I played my first round of golf.
Starting point is 00:22:53 Did you really? Yeah. We went to a holiday Hills and we had a scramble there. Wait, that's where I played when I was at Branson. That's what Isaac told me. Okay. Story checks out.
Starting point is 00:23:01 Yeah. I was, I was holding out on you. I didn't want to tell you on Wednesday. Cause I wanted to tell you on the pod. Thanks dude. Uh, play a a scramble i can't imagine not playing a scramble right it's so much yeah like like how like that would not be fun to me one iota if i didn't play in a scramble it's great well it's amazing i keep trying to get
Starting point is 00:23:16 trey to do this because i'm like because i keep doing it like isaac and i are so blessed we have so many friends who are so good at golf right it makes the scramble so much fun yeah you included yeah and so i'm like trey you got to do this one it's just more fun and two just like mentally you We have so many friends who are so good at golf. Right. It makes a scramble so much fun. Yeah. You included. Yeah. And so I'm like, Trey, you got to do this. One, it's just more fun. And two, just like mentally, you just say you don't focus on your bad shots. You just remember your good shots. Right.
Starting point is 00:23:33 No. Yeah. We played with, there were seven of us that played. So it was like my team had three or my team had four. The other team had three. But one of the guys on our team, Matt, is just like a stud. Like he drove it on a par four, like five feet from the or five feet from the hole oh wow just absolute awesome and so it was like i think we only used like four or five of my balls all day but we used we used a few you made some putts i made some putts there you go
Starting point is 00:23:54 that was the most fun thing is like come on brad like it was always like you should be able to do it was always like me and adam who adam was as bad as i was and he had played a few times so that made me feel kind of good uh it was like me and Adam would putt first like yeah hey go ahead and get on that there little buddy and see if you can put this in yeah uh but I I had forgotten my clubs until like right before I was about to leave and I remembered I had like these you have golf clubs I have golf clubs and my dad bought me in high school bomb tags or uh title lists okay uh almost from a garage sale and I was like oh sweet yeah I'll go get my clubs from my shed. It's like got dust and stuff all over. And I get there, I get to the course and I go to pull out
Starting point is 00:24:30 my driver and it's a right-handed driver and I'm left-handed. So, and I'm like, crap, like I don't have a driver. And so I was like, I guess I'll just use my, you know, three or whatever the whole time, whatever we're driving, that didn't work, you know, compared to my friend who's driving the green. Yeah. Um, and then it's time to putt i go to grab a putter no putter either driver and putter are pretty important in golf uh so i had to putt right-handed because especially yeah that's too bad which is not if you have to do anything right-handed putting is probably the easiest thing yeah but yeah so it was pretty much a chip chip goy chipper jones you know um dude that's awesome we just played a scramble last night me Isaac Luke Olin comm and Scott sell and
Starting point is 00:25:09 Got my dinner paid for Isaac told me you're killing the putts you were doing really well in the putts We did Luke and I short game was was money last night So I think we shot for under Isaac. It's got two unders great night ago. Yeah, just everybody was playing well Yeah, all four of us were playing pretty well. So it was was fun it's it's a fun like like probably six holes into it i was like okay i see what's so fun about this and probably like hole 16 i was like i'm ready i'm hot yeah i was i was so hot it was hole 15 16 every time yeah i'm like i'm pretty warm i'm done yeah like i i think i would do nine holes for a while like until I get used to playing and everything, but I had fun. Like I was like, this is fun. This is also very time consuming. Um, like five hours,
Starting point is 00:25:49 probably four and a half, five hours. It's so time consuming, but yeah, there's something about just like being so bad at something where it doesn't take much to fire you up. It's like, I hit one good shot there. Like that one chip that didn't just go straight the whole time. Like it went up in the air close to the hole. I was like, I'm amazing at this. And this is like classic, like optimistic Brad. There was, there was a part of me that was like, maybe just maybe I'll be really, really good at golf. Like one of the hardest sports in a man, like everyone gets frustrated with it. I'm like, maybe it's just like my thing. Like, I'm just going to be really good at it. And I think it was the first hole where I chipped that
Starting point is 00:26:21 one pretty well. And they use my ball. I was i do i was like yeah this is my thing like i get and then i literally whiffed a few times like i'll like practice swing practice swing um but yeah overall it was it was a good time uh trying to think of how the draft end up draft was fun i think i mentioned this to you it's an auction draft oh yeah you got like derrick henry and christian mccaffrey yes dude i paid yeah 60 some dollars for each of those guys out of my $200 pot. And so like everyone else, I had like no money to spend on actually, no, I got Clyde Edwards, a layer as well. So I had to, Oh my gosh. Yeah. So my team, I think I'm going to call my team fluffy, which is the three headed dog and Harry Potter and the sorcerer stone, which of
Starting point is 00:26:58 course, you know, we're big Harry Potter people in this podcast. Right. Um, and so I think my name is going to be fluffy cause I just have the $ dogs yeah oh do you have to start two running backs in a league uh two running back in a flex and so that's what i'm going to do and just come like bi-week time come injury time everyone's going to be like wanting your dogs i know just just eat them up yeah i think you can trade one of those dogs away for something you need oh so i should trade my dog so i should be mike vick maybe like get rid of my dogs. Don't get rid of all your dogs. But yeah, don't.
Starting point is 00:27:27 Yeah. Whatever. Like bet my dogs for money. That's what I'm saying. That's what I'm trying to do. But yeah, it was, it was really fun.
Starting point is 00:27:34 The whole, the whole draft is just like, most of us are in the same room. So it's just like, we're just laughing and like, yeah. And there's a few people that aren't in the same room that we know, like they're fandoms.
Starting point is 00:27:43 And so like when Jeremy picks a chiefs player or a K state player, we're like, Oh, bid the heck out of that guy. Oh, he paid so much money for Travis Kelsey, you know, like all this different stuff. But, um, overall it was great. I think last week we talked on the podcast about, um, not feeling old. Right. Do you remember that? Like, I don't know when we're going to feel old.
Starting point is 00:28:02 Yeah. I just similar to a couple of weeks ago where I was like, I never regret having kids. And then I was like, actually, I remember sometimes where I regret having kids. I felt old a few times this week where I don't think I consciously would have felt it before. But since we talked about on the podcast, I got to my friend's house in Branson and just immediately unpacked all my stuff. Like just put it out on his dresser, like in the place I was like the room room I was staying 18 year old Brad would never do that. You know what I mean? Like that's a three-year-old Jake is not unpacking it. Dude. Try it sometime. It's amazing. It like, once you do it, it's like, this is great because then where are you putting your dirty clothes?
Starting point is 00:28:37 So that's what gets tough. Exactly. I still do not have a system in place to figure this out. Yeah. Like I go on a trip, I wear 80 to 90% of the clothes I packed. So they're dirty. Right. What? But I have like this massive space to, I don't know what to do with dirty clothes. That's where you put the dirty clothes back in the bag.
Starting point is 00:28:54 And then you have your clean clothes out of the bag. And then at the end of the time, what do you mean out of the bag? I still got to pack them. But yeah, at the end you pack them on top, but then they still get dirty. Cause they're like zipped up in a compartment for like hours.
Starting point is 00:29:04 I don't, I mean, how dirty are your dirties they smell do they yeah you think so i mean there's socks and underwear in there yeah it's fair i don't know i my my dirties were fine you would you would pack a clean shirt on top of dirty clothes zip it up drive four hours home i'm like that's still a clean show i wouldn't choose my best i wouldn't choose my most dirty dirty to put right next to my best best you would go you need to layer it socks underwear bottom like if i just got sweaty in under yeah if i just played pickleball golf whatever that's that's very bottom yeah that's like the jeans you wore okay this is good actually the least dirty dirty and the the least prioritized clean so maybe like maybe you got one extra pair of shorts and you got you know whatever the underwear that you just
Starting point is 00:29:44 like you took a shower last night you changed and then you wore them. And then you're like, I'm going to change them in the morning. Boom, right there. That's how you do it. That's not a bad system. It's not a bad system because I always pack like one extra of everything just in case. And so I usually use almost everything, like you're saying 90% or so. And so it's just a few things on top.
Starting point is 00:30:03 Yeah, there you go. Thanks dude. So, um, yeah, I felt old because of that. percent or so and so just a few things on top yeah there you go thanks dude so um yeah i felt old because of that and then we also jumped in lake tanicomo and like if you don't know branson like it's like notorious yeah freezing cold lake and right when we jumped in like my body like convulsed back and i like had whiplash and i like sprained my neck and it like it's still kind of sore bad cold it was so cold neck sprain cold it was one of those things where it was like i i remember it being cold but surely that's just in my memory we jumped in and we were so hot too we just got done playing like three hours of pickle
Starting point is 00:30:32 ball dang and it was very frigid so um old man brad yeah i'm an old man so see if you figure out some things that you do that are also i also got kind of frustrated a few times when we drive and we'd like try to cram all six people in one car i'm like why don't we just take two cars yeah that's an old person thing i think yeah probably like who cares like gas is not that expensive gas is not that expensive we're going 10 minutes down the road like we can take two cars so that's an old man thing because i was like i don't want to i don't want to cram in the back cramming's not fun you know what's fun paying a little extra for gas. That's what I always say. 405. So yeah.
Starting point is 00:31:07 And then the last thing I'll say about Brainstorm, that was really fun was, it says like an inside joke. So maybe it's not going to translate very well, but do you know the song fishing in the dark? You and me going fishing in the dark. Does that answer your question? I would say a hundred percent.
Starting point is 00:31:22 Like at the chorus right before that, it's like, or the verse like, oh baby, get ready. And then it goes, question i would say a hundred percent uh like at the the chorus right before that's like oh or the verse like oh baby get ready and then it goes yeah and so like for the for whatever reason i think we maybe listened to that song in the beginning of the trip but like anytime we want to do anything we just go oh and then like like like it became like a punch line like we would want to go play pickleball at k kawaii like hey where do you think we should go play pickleball like
Starting point is 00:31:50 and the funny thing about that song is it's it's ooh ooh but we for some reason okay i sing yeah i was gonna say i had it i thought it was and so we would say you know like yeah like we were drinking Coors Light. And like, that's the whole thing with Coors Light. When it's cold, the mountains are blue. So we're like, hey, is that drink cold? And he's like, the mountains are blue-y. You definitely could have just said blue.
Starting point is 00:32:17 Right. But you sang the song wrong. Absolutely. So I think it's blue-y. Yeah. Oh, yeah, exactly. We thought it was oo-y the whole time. And so it was really just between, like, two other guys and me. And so I think we might have annoyed everybody else. But we just said it like it was like something you couldn't control saying all the time.
Starting point is 00:32:31 It's like this is the thing of the trip. It was like it was like, I don't know what else to do. I'm just going to yell out. So we had something kind of at the very beginning of our trip. Isaac and I stop at a food truck and like on the menu, it just says Hawaiian Sun 150. And so we were like, what does that mean? Yeah. I don't even know. Sounds nice. I think I've take a couple. I don't know what it is. Yeah. It's like Capri Sun, but not.
Starting point is 00:32:52 I didn't know if it was a drink. I mean, probably. But anyway, Isaac goes, so tell me about these Capri Suns. What are these? And the woman goes, what? He said Capri Suns? No, sorry. Sorry.
Starting point is 00:33:02 I screwed that up. Okay. Tell me what these like Hawaiian suns. Like, what are these? And she goes goes i mean garrett has like four a day i'll take one then all right how big a boy is garrett how big a boy are you so that was kind of an inside joke for us just like i don't know what this like hike is but like i think garrett's done it a couple times so we should go probably yeah like if garrett could do it yeah we didn't like and garrett like it wasn't even like he was right there next to her like i don't know who
Starting point is 00:33:28 who is garrett like she just assumed you knew garrett like yeah you must be a local is what she's thinking i mean garrett has like four a day so was it a drink yes it was like a canned like this another example like this doesn't feel like america all the cans in maui are like a different shape like a 12 ounce 12 ounce can is a different shape. It's got different ridges. The top fits different. The pop tab is different. Is it tall and skinny or what's the difference?
Starting point is 00:33:50 No, it looks like a similar shape. It's like, it's got like ribs at the top of it. Almost. It looks like a, you know, like if you go to Central America, it's like, oh, the pop cancer is like slightly different here. Like kind of like the humex juices. You know what those are? Like the Mexican juices. I've been on that street.
Starting point is 00:34:02 Humex. Who, who, who am I got here? I don't know. know like like mexican juices i feel like they haven't met chipotle that's the only reason i know about them okay i'm not immersed in the culture i just go chipotle uh interesting anyway that was our inside joke just like well i wonder i wonder if garrett's done it i wonder what garrett would say about this i don't know who garrett is but four hawaiians on the day that's awesome baseball is finally back get in on major league action and swing for the fences with bet mgm the king of sportsbooks log in or sign up to play

Starting point is 00:36:48 okay so i went and created the league i think it's called it's on esp and it's called like ghosties guillotine something like that it's public to view so like all throughout the season anyone can like check in and see like where yeah everyone's at um brad and i are already in i'm team uh dang it what did i go with i forgot the team name it's good though whatever it is i forgot what i chose uh but anyway it's going to be 19 teams so there's 17 spots available one person one team will get knocked out every week just don't be the lowest point getter of the week okay um espn doesn't let you set up your league like a guillotine league so it's we're still gonna be like doing head-to-head but it doesn't matter it's just like don't have the least amount
Starting point is 00:37:27 of points that's all that matters you just don't score the least if you have the least all your players go back into free agency and then there's a hundred dollar pot for us all to bid on the free agents every week yeah which that's the most the most strategy of the whole that's what's so fun about it is gonna be that like how much is like i don't know daryl waller worth week one and free agents you know whatever like i have a hundred dollars for the whole season but it's like it's like yeah like do you expect yourself do you play with the strategy of like i gotta get to the end or do you play with the strategy enough for now yeah because i feel like by week we'll say 10 your team's pretty good team is very good your team's an all-star team you know at this point because because by week 10 well no maybe not though but i think the trick is not that we
Starting point is 00:38:08 get i don't want to tell them but you got to save your money i think i think you gotta you can't spend money on week one two three four yeah you're probably thinking how many players are just going to come up every week there's a new like right there's two or three studs available like if patrick mahomes on your team but everyone else just stinks like pat mahomes is going to get 50 points every week. Not really. It's a huge thing. Then all of a sudden, you're like, I want Patrick Mahomes on my team.
Starting point is 00:38:30 I don't have any money left. It's going to be so fun. The free agency will be fun. It'll be such a bummer if both of us lose the first two weeks. Cool. Hope you guys have fun. Enjoy it. We're not going to watch this thing at all. I think we'll just do a regular snake draft.
Starting point is 00:38:43 As of now, I set it for Thursday night. We could change that whatever just fine whatever um and then i got i went in and like adjusted some like roster and point stuff i've never been the commissioner of a league before so i went in and i was upset at like the standard espn scoring yeah for instance if you as it is like if you were to never go in and like adjust the scores, if you miss an extra point, you get zero points taken off. It's just like, oh, well, OK, that's ridiculous. It's not. Yeah, you play like you like the penalty.
Starting point is 00:39:14 Yeah, leagues. Yeah, miss an extra point. Minus three in our league. OK, why not? I like it. I think we do as extreme and crazy things as we can. Like so, yeah, minus three for that. Also, I've always had an issue with this.
Starting point is 00:39:28 If you get a safety, you have their defense special teams and you get a safety you only get two points you know how rare that is exactly i've always thought that yeah safeties and two-point conversions i think like two-point conversions you get like three four points for yeah so i up safeties to five i wanted to go more it's like let's just do five let's go that's so crazy that's such an amazing play for the defense dude i think we make it as crazy as like this. I wanted to get crazy because, oh, roster wise, I thought about going middle linebacker. I thought about putting a punter. And I was like, there's already enough strategy going on. Maybe don't worry about all this.
Starting point is 00:39:55 But I did one thing. OK, we're going to play with a head coach. How does that? Yeah, right. I don't know. I looked into the scoring. It's basically just like you get points if you win and you get even more points if you win by 20 points.
Starting point is 00:40:07 OK. And then I think you can lose some points, too, if you get demolished. How many points are you talking? Like how many points can you read score in a week? So that's why I went in. I was like, should I make this like pretty fun? You can also make it like if your team has this many yards, if they do this. But I'm like, I don't think the head coach should be able to score 45 points.
Starting point is 00:40:23 Like, well, I didn't put any effort into this. Dang it, dude. Yeah. So heete carroll and he just went off this week i think i have it so it should be kind of like a defense special teams like a good week they can maybe get 15 20 okay but they're not gonna like win a game for you i love it dude i also decrease the amount of points kickers can get because i get so frustrated when like johan ku scored 19 against me whatever his name is young way young way ku yeah and i'm like that's so dumb that's so dumb none of us care about this there's no strategy in a kicker he shouldn't have won the game yeah there is no strategy but it's pretty
Starting point is 00:40:53 awesome whenever you're down by like like in my my family league like we have such old school scoring so i think one time a kicker scored like 35 points yeah get out of here not my league no way just like anytime he makes over 45 yards, like a six point field goal or something like that. Yeah, it's fun. But and then the only other thing I did, it's a PPR league I did.
Starting point is 00:41:11 I wanted to give everyone a point for a first down. I just think it's fun to inflate the points, just like everyone gets more points. If you're moving the ball down the field, you should be rewarded.
Starting point is 00:41:18 Right. ESPN doesn't let you do first downs, which is ridiculous. CBS Sports does. ESPN is not the best. They're really not. And they're the king of it. Everyone plays ESPN,
Starting point is 00:41:27 but they're not that great. Yeah, the ESPN fans football people app sucks the espn normal app don't even get me started don't even get me started espn in general in general like if they didn't have the rights to so many games i wouldn't i would not be a fan i was really hoping like fox sports one would do it some more stuff or anything make a make a splash yeah i'll go ahead and predict it right now 11 Eleven and a half years. ESPN's not the leader anymore. Not the worldwide leader of sports. That would be awesome. I don't know who it's going to be.
Starting point is 00:41:49 Probably somebody we've never heard of. Some YouTuber, probably. Maybe. Seriously. Maybe I would put my eggs in the YouTube basket for a lot of things. Yeah. So anyway, you can do points for first downs. So I did a little thing.
Starting point is 00:41:59 This is pretty common. But like if a running back or receiver gets 100 yards, five point bonus quarterback throws for 300 yards, five point bonus. throws for 300 yards five point bonus sweet that's it love it oh and one other thing yards for a quarterback these days is pretty pretty common doable yeah one last thing we're gonna start two quarterbacks i love that because i love that for 20 people yeah 19 people because weeks one through five it's gonna be kind of funny oh yeah but then once the you know you're to get so pumped when, yeah, Chase Daniel gets in and I blow out. I knew I should have picked up Chad Hitty. I knew.
Starting point is 00:42:27 Yeah. Because I think later in the season, it'll make way more sense to have two quarterbacks and then it'll be nice. You know, you keep three and you start to. That's going to be so fascinating. The whole thing is just going to be. I just can't wait. Such a different strategy. And I think it's going to be one of those things.
Starting point is 00:42:41 It's like once you play that way, it's like, why are we ever go back? Head to head is not nearly as fun yeah so last thing we need to mention and we'll move on for people who do not care about this at all uh you probably want to know how do we join this league uh here's what we decided on monday of labor day when this episode is coming out at noon central time the public link like the invitation link to join the league is going to be made available in our youtube description of this podcast. So hopefully, uh, you know, you maybe you're not commuting because you're not working, but hopefully you're still listening at home or else you're going to miss out. Yeah, that's true. Maybe you're self-employed, maybe you're a hard worker. Good for you. We want
Starting point is 00:43:15 you in our league. That's classic. Like I didn't even know it was labor day this Monday. Like Trey's like, Hey, we'll be off Monday. We'll work on Tuesday. I'm like, why? Because of football. Huh? OK, man. Sure. Whatever. Yeah. Whatever you say.
Starting point is 00:43:29 So. So at noon, check back on our YouTube link and be one of the first 17 to join. We don't really have any requirements. I think we would ask that, like, hopefully you've played fantasy football before. There's got to be a decent amount of strategy involved to do well in this league. So, like, just be self-aware enough to know, like, should I take up a roster spot? I've never played fantasy football. You got to be a decent amount of strategy involved to like do well in this league so like just be self-aware enough to know like should i take up a roster spot i've never played fantasy football you gotta try just try that's a big thing too that's the biggest thing probably like i don't care like if they haven't played fancy football it's gonna be hard for you to figure it all out like but if you want to really try and work on it great then do it like but just you guys stay
Starting point is 00:44:00 committed to the whole season yes yes i played fancy baseball one time i felt bad at the end of the season. I was like, I didn't do this well at all. Yeah. So and then I think we're going to give a little early access to our patrons. Yes. Not much early access, though. You're $15 patron.
Starting point is 00:44:15 You get 15 minutes early access. $5 patron. Five minutes early access. What if they're $10 patron? We haven't decided that. OK. I don't know. Too much at once.
Starting point is 00:44:25 Perfect. So this could be the week. Maybe if you want to play face football bad enough, you become a patron just to like, I didn't even think about that. I was thinking just reward the ones that are currently on there, but yeah, I guess this could be a reason to join.
Starting point is 00:44:35 And let's say, let's say winner of the season gets a merch item of their choice. Any merch item. Better go hoodie. Better go hoodie. Get your money. Sort of. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:44:44 Or sticker. Or what? Your call. Yeah. Let's talk about that real quick. Okay. Merch is coming out, baby. any merch item better go hoodie better go hoodie get your money sort of yeah or sticker or what your call yeah let's talk about that real quick okay merch is coming out baby i've been grinding on the merch this past week love when big daddy grinds uh yeah fall i mean more ways than one oh man i love i really really enjoy making the merch it's been fun we have some new designs we have some old designs that are going on fall themed things like hoodies and sweatshirts and long sleeves and blankets and socks. But Brad, what about the merch that's currently on our site right now? Ghostrunners.life.
Starting point is 00:45:15 Currently it is what day? Monday. Monday. Labor Day. Labor Day, which is the 6th. Labor Day the 6th. You will have until next Mondayay at noonish to uh we're not super quick with it but we're gonna take all those down uh starting this like whenever the new fall merch
Starting point is 00:45:33 comes out we're getting rid of the old merch um indefinitely we don't we might bring it back for a little throwback time but nothing's promised though nothing's promised basically of a week to get any of the current designs you see on our website yes so stock up if you have friends that you think might like the podcast in the future like maybe like they're like oh that guy's gonna be a summer adapter to the pod he's not gonna want a long sleeve yeah i'll go short sleeve something so um yeah i'm really excited about i'm excited to see what you guys think of it um so next monday we will come out with all the new merch and it's just gonna be zoppity it's gonna be so much fun a lot of fall stuff very cozy yes dude i'm excited for fall i i obviously love summer everyone loves summer but like i'm getting more and more psyched for
Starting point is 00:46:13 fall especially just football like it's just football's back and it's gonna be great i bought a lot of like fall and winter clothing this summer because it's so cheap so there's a part of me that's like i got a lot of hoodies stocked up i'm ready to like get a little chilly yeah you kind of forget like like when you change seasons you kind of forget oh i have that i have those i have those joggers the lululemon hoodie i love that it's a pop-up store yeah like it's like oh i miss that like i'm wearing like right now it's it's great weather for long sleeve uh long sleeve short sleeve t-shirt yeah i'll see t-shirt and shorts it's great weather for that. And so I'm excited for that little window there, but I'm excited for hoodies and joggers.
Starting point is 00:46:50 So yeah. Anyway. So there's fantasy. There's merch. There's us talking about things that some people care about. Some people don't. So let's get back to our regularly scheduled stuff. I went to Hawaii.
Starting point is 00:47:01 Brad, I think I want to tell you a story that I've not told you yet about Hawaii. Like there was at dinner the other night. Look, I don't know. I'm not going to build it out. Hey, I don't know. This is just a story from Hawaii. All I know is you were like, like Isaac, you can tell any story, but don't tell us. I want to say that over the podcast. That's all you said. You didn't say this is the best story ever. No, there's just, I wanted to at least just withhold one. Like I at least wanted you to hear one story for the first time and love the podcast so this is the one uh our last full day in hawaii um my friends which i'll talk about them more later tj and brooke they uh own walk in love apparel they wanted to have me on their podcast at some point while i was there i was like great i would love to definitely i'm
Starting point is 00:47:40 gonna do that uh also isaac and jace all week long have been wanting to spearfish. And I'm just like, I like good luck. Yeah. You know, like I remember like someday at some point or another, I've heard like if you can't hold your breath underwater for like multiple minutes, like it's not even worth trying to spearfish. Like, I think it's like part of like the chase of like trying to find fish and chasing. Yeah, whatever. I didn't tell him that.
Starting point is 00:48:01 I was like very much like, yeah, y'all do your thing. Like, I will find a time to be doing something else while you're spearfishing and you know we we're always asking people like do you know anywhere that does like spearfishing and everyone's like i've never heard of that on maui not a good sign yeah someone told us early on like i would find like a local boy or something to take you and so then that was kind of a funny thing yeah yeah uh garrett where's garrett do you know any local boys that we could talk to um so they finally go i'm like all right you guys do spearfishing this is what i'm gonna dip out to the podcast i do that they go to walmart buy a bunch of spearfishing gear um spears walmart's
Starting point is 00:48:36 just known for their spearfishing gear too you gotta go to walmart and they buy like you know goggles scuba stuff you know fins everything and they go. And they go and Jace, Isaac and Christine are going to go spearfishing. I do that. They go out. I guess the water is just like crazy shallow. They're out like 100 yards and it's only like way steep. They're like, all right, let's go out further. Like somewhere they said between like two or three hundred yards out.
Starting point is 00:48:59 And it's still like the head is still not above water. I'm trying to picture that real quick. That's all. That's so far out. Yeah. They said it was like definitely like multiple football football fields out like it was just like very far just like they were in a weird spot of the ocean i guess um well it starts to be a lot of like coral and like rock beneath them and they start to even notice like sea urchins are like
Starting point is 00:49:16 beneath them and so isaac and jace are pretty able to like tread water they got like their fins on christine's just out there just uh just swimming along didn't get fit she didn't she didn't once it starts to get worse jace is like christine why don't i go get you like the boogie board that we got so you have like something to like float on whatever so just hang tight i guess i mean the second jace turned around christine steps on the ocean floor steps on a sea urchin like almost immediately so jace has no idea he's swimming back to the shore um get the boogie board he gets to the shore and so Jace is telling me this story. He's like, you know, cause I hear about all this and hear about like, or we're going to, you know, try to find a first aid kit. Isaac won't stop peeing on her or, you know, whatever. Um, Isaac didn't pee on her foot, but I kept
Starting point is 00:49:56 telling Isaac was like, Hey, Christine's over to see her. And I was like, keep peeing on it. Keep peeing on it. Hey, I'll be back. I just drank a sweet tea to come to come to the, come pick me up. Um, but so I knew, so I'm like, Jace, I got to back. I just drink a sweet tea to come to the come pick me up. But so I knew. So I'm like, Jason, I got to hear the story. Like what happened? And so he's like, so I get back to this where I turn around and like, yeah, 240 yards out is Isaac just carrying Christine through the water. And I was just like, dang, that's hot.
Starting point is 00:50:17 Yeah, I was like, cool. Everything is like a dream. That's like a man's dream. Yeah, like woman in distress. Christine is like gorgeous. She's like six years older than Isaac. So I that had to feel a little better oh yeah uh you know she's in a bikini we're on the beach like it's just you know she's he gets to carry this woman out of danger into safety she's bleeding all over him and so i'm just like dang you know that what a
Starting point is 00:50:40 moment i'm sure that was just like coming out of the water with christine a little bit right there and so i'm like uh so i'm thinking like dang that's awesome so i get like a second away with isaac i'm like dude so i was carrying christine and he goes dude it sucked he goes that's a lot of work that's really far first of all i had my fins on which i had forgotten about i know i was imagining him being like so cool yeah yeah just like big steps at a time but then now you're imagining like yeah these like massive waves just boom oh my gosh that's too bad dude oh sorry guys yeah first of all i had my fins on and so i could barely walk is it second of all there's had my fins on, so I could barely walk. He said, second of all, there's still rocks everywhere. You know, so I'm like stepping on these rocks and they're like so slippery.
Starting point is 00:51:28 You know, so I'm like, I'm slipping all the time with Christine. You know, I've got an extra like human that I'm holding. Yeah, dude. And he said it just got worse and worse because at the beginning, most of her was in the water. So she was like lighter. Yeah. And then once she's out of the water, he's like, I am carrying this girl. It's still stepping on rocks.
Starting point is 00:51:43 And he goes, and to top it off, I have my snorkel and goggles on. Isn't that so funny? This is why I wanted to withhold the story. Dude, it's just amazing. Like the initial story you told me. Exactly. What a boss. Like he's just six pack out of the water, just carrying, you know, beautiful Christine.
Starting point is 00:52:05 Like it went from like day watch to like, yeah. six pack out of the water just carrying, you know, beautiful Christine. Oh, like it went from like day watch to like, yeah. Like imagine Christine now just like getting just like thrown around in Isaac's arms.
Starting point is 00:52:13 Just like, you know, just set me down. She just walked. Isaac's like, he's kind of got like a nasal voice because he's got a snorkel.
Starting point is 00:52:18 Are you okay? Yeah. Maybe you want to take a break for a second. Still breathing through the snorkel dealer. She's like, are you okay? Yeah, I'm good.
Starting point is 00:52:32 I'm good. I'm good. No, I'm fine. Hold on. I'm fine. I'm fine. Hold on. No, no, no.
Starting point is 00:52:35 Just a second. The rocks are more slippery than I imagined. Do you think if I peed on it, it would make you feel better? Do you think I'd get your foot below my crotch i could pee on it we could get some micro yeah how how about you you know how do you chicken fight like you want to just get on my shoulders and do that way oh man that's amazing dude like like the difference between what i imagined at first exactly exactly i couldn't like gosh because jace didn't tell me that isaac is in snorkel gear and tripping over himself and then i was so excited to talk to isaac about it like so
Starting point is 00:53:11 it sounds like you became a man today how was it you just carried over his rite of passage at the man he's like no dude no it's awful jace was there to play yeah yeah which i wouldn't do if he got the boogie board oh my gosh dude that's incredible oh it's so fun so that was i laughed so hard right there i knew you would love that story i knew it i was like i just really don't want to tell you the story at dinner i want this to be on the podcast i don't know what i like more i think i like the fins more but but the the mask and the snorkel and everything gets me too it was just so perfect like yeah just like you like what i was imagining you know it's just so different like such a hero like zach efron i just imagine you being so excited
Starting point is 00:53:49 to talk to isaac just like dude how was it like good job and he just like puts his head his hands like oh it sucked it sucked it was so funny that is too good dude um so it was great having isaac on the trip was just so awesome because also like he yeah you know isaac's 20 years old like he's barely gone anywhere like most 20 year olds which is understandable i think until his junior year high school like when we went to trinidad together that was his first time on an airplane yeah which i'd barely tried i hadn't been anywhere until i was like 27 26 or something so he's way ahead of the curve i don't believe you as far as like i guess i mean in the sense of like a vacation really a vacation like that like we had went to florida a couple times it's only growing
Starting point is 00:54:28 up we went to branson once as a vacation but yeah he's doing things at 20 that i don't think a lot of 20 year olds are doing fair fair fair okay but at the same time it was also like having like an eight-year-old with us like he took it was like michael needing a second phone for like pictures of his kids i was like isaac's gonna run out of storage so quick but it's cool like it was like a really endearing way like just videos and pictures of everything constantly yeah so it's awesome oh and the pictures don't do it justice i love that story or what else did you say uh the the all right yeah hold on okay yeah those are funny i know the stories but they're still really we loved messing with people while hiking because hiking this everyone's so like introverted when they hike for some reason and we're apparently the only outgoing people on hikes and so we would
Starting point is 00:55:09 mess with people so one thing isaac would be like taking video or even something i was just talking to him like they're coming down from a hike and we were just like the pictures don't do it justice do they just as cheesy as possible and they everyone of course doesn't catch on like right i was just telling barbara how are we going to show our kids these they don't even look like a real mountain when he showed you know like right and so it's so true that's just such a great thing to say right anyone the pictures just don't do it justice do that yeah you guys should take videos next time you're on a vacation and like and like have a conversation with somebody send it to us we need to yeah the next hike so we do that a lot i'm saying like uh ghosty sorry should like next time they're on vacation send us a send a video of you saying
Starting point is 00:55:47 the pictures don't do it right like act like you're taking video of the scenery but then like you could hear like in the background like pictures don't do it justice huh huh i bet there's some good people out there that love that we also like our first hike of the trip i don't know why this got started or where this came from but out of nowhere we're going up on the hike people are coming down they're kind of saying those things like you guys are almost there it's so worth it guys keep going like all right thanks you know yeah dad uh definitely gonna keep going regardless but we'd be like oh i bet like and we gotta know how good are the cantaloupes up there and they're like what like this is like the there's a cantaloupe hike
Starting point is 00:56:22 cantaloupe yeah like right nickname a cantaloupe mountain yeah we were just all on the same page is so convincing it's the the cantaloupe bike right yeah um i didn't and then they start feeling bad like i didn't gosh we didn't see any those weren't kiddos were they jerry yeah like well we didn't like spend a ton of time up there so i bet there's some up there like no you guys didn't see any kid like they said that you would see them. They're supposed to be like all over when you get it. Guys, let's turn around. Like right in the middle of the banditry.
Starting point is 00:56:50 Like there's a bandit. I don't think we saw that either. And then we, yeah. So we were like, maybe we just turn around and be like, no guys, you got to go see. You got to go see it. Like I'm sure they're up there somewhere. I'm sure that you could find them. All right.
Starting point is 00:57:03 There's not cantaloupes though. Come on guys. We might as well. We're almost, we're almost there. There's not cantaloupes, though. Come on, guys. We might as well. We're almost there. We can get cantaloupes at the market. Pictures don't do it justice, though, do they? No! They get excited.
Starting point is 00:57:12 The cantaloupes don't do it justice, do they? So that was fun to mess people in that way. I want to do that more. Just like assuming things are up there that are definitely not going to be up there. Didn't you say Isaac also like ate a bunch of wild fruit? Isaac was our cupbearer. He's like, Isaac, this is bright and red. What do you think it is? Obviously, no one knows. not going to be up there didn't you say isaac also uh like ate a bunch of wild fruit isaac was our cupbearer it's like isaac this is bright and red what do you think it is obviously no one knows
Starting point is 00:57:29 and we would always ask christine christine's a dietician which doesn't mean like fruit identifier right it's like christine what is this it's like a veterinary being like hey what boat is this on human body i don't think you know yeah so we're like i mean she was like maybe a guava like oh close enough. Isaac, eat it. Try it. All right. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:57:47 And like, Ooh, that one's bitter. Someone else try it. Like, no, I'm good now. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:57:51 It's classic. Like, dude, this like my hand smells weird. Smell this. This is awful. I'm not going to do that. Eat this.
Starting point is 00:57:56 Yeah. So it was such a great mix that, yeah, it was just, we bought it really well. Like Christy, you don't know. How do you not know what this weird tropical fruit off this gravel road is um so yeah isaac ate a bunch of food for us and uh i think one other story i'll tell about
Starting point is 00:58:12 isaac this one was also this was my favorite in the moment but i've just already told you the story so you know it it is so out of like a sitcom or a movie i can't believe this happened in real life yeah this is like the office yeah it's so like The Office in multiple ways. Isaac is, maybe you guys saw my story where Isaac had like busted out of his shoes. How did he do that?
Starting point is 00:58:32 Do you remember? He'd already like torn out of them between pickleball and golf earlier this summer. He sewed them back up. He's notorious for this. Like he always does this.
Starting point is 00:58:39 Yeah, something's wrong with his feet. And then we played golf and then we played tennis one morning. We went and got like tennis rackets to play tennis. And then so he really ripped through them he's like i can't hike in these so we go to walmart to buy shoes he buys them he tries to walk out the door and then kind of like costco style or whatever they were like uh do you have your receipts sir and isaac of
Starting point is 00:59:00 course had like already thrown it away he's like uh no no i like already thrown it away. He's like, ah, no, no, I like already threw it away. I'm like, well, I can't let you leave without proof of purchase. So what I'm going to need you to do is, um, did like a, did any like associate help you out with your, uh, with your purchase day? He's like, yeah, I had like a woman kind of like guide me to like the self checkout. He's like, oh, okay, great. Why don't you just point out to me the woman who helped you? And I don't know if you guys know kind of the genetic makeup of a lot of people in Hawaii, but at this particular day, at this particular Walmart, it is nothing but five foot Eastern Asian women with masks on. And so Isaac has to then,
Starting point is 00:59:37 he finds himself in a situation where he has to literally point at the one that he thinks helped him guide him to self-checkout like this woman is kind of like roaming so it wasn't like oh i was in aisle 13 or i was like checkout 13 right it was right there it's like this woman could be anywhere now and now he's got to like point at her and poor guy you know he's like oh okay oh yeah um no no okay not that that one okay it's that one it's that one they walk all the way over to her and then he gets pretty close not that that one okay it's that one it's that one they walk all the way over to her and then he gets pretty close not that one okay okay okay no it's not sorry sorry it's not this one it's not this one um he starts looking around more and oh my gosh i was just like that is so
Starting point is 01:00:15 like one from the office like marks the arm right it was like that scene and two just like yeah it feels like a movie like it's just like you have to what a terrible situation to be like you're just sweating like oh gosh yeah gosh. Yeah, that's so good. And the second time it was a charm, though. He got it, though. He did. Yeah, that's so funny. I think it's funny how Walmart does that still, because it's like, doesn't doesn't something
Starting point is 01:00:36 go off if you go past it and you haven't paid for it or something? Well, I remember Walmart put out a press release like two or three years ago. Like, I don't know if they're supposed to go public, but it got out. They're like, if you steal anything under $500, we will not chase you. Like, it's more worth it to us to have a good customer experience than it is to lose $400. That's their reasoning? Is customer experience? Yeah, I think so.
Starting point is 01:00:53 I've heard like, it's like you're liable if you hurt that person you chase after. Oh, that could be it too. It's probably a combination of that too. I've heard stuff like that. Like, yeah, we're not supposed to chase you. We're supposed to call the cops or something like that. Like, which is crazy. Because if you injure them and also just like,'s a bad look i'm just like right look they're
Starting point is 01:01:06 standing up for walmart right they stole that shampoo he stole the poo oh man okay um i like that story uh they're okay i've been you know still walking a little bit at the park and nice little observation i have i this could be a stand-up bit i think someday but um like sometimes i'll be walking and i'll get to somebody and i'll be like i think i need to pass this person but it's kind of like i kind of compare it to like you're driving 71 miles an hour on cruise control somebody else is 70 it's not like you're like you're quick and quick pass it's like it's like you barely pass them and, like, like it's kind of like one of those things. And so it takes a while, but as a big boy, as a man, like you feel like this sense. And I think it's probably a healthy sense of fear, like, um, worries for these women that are walking by themselves. But I'm like, I'm pretty close behind for a decent amount of time.
Starting point is 01:01:59 And then finally, like I get, I get up the courage to like, and sometimes you use when you're driving to you're like, okay, I'm going to go up to 78 miles an hour for this little time. But even when you do that, you have to keep going 78 miles an hour or else you're going to be distance. Yeah. You're going to be right behind them again. And so I either have to choose to take a long time to go around this person rough or just like basically half, half jog, you know?
Starting point is 01:02:21 And it's, I don't, I don't have much more than that. Just besides that observation of like this is tough for guys like i know girls have it tough like you have to worry about every man that ever walks past you but this is hard but as the innocent guy in the scenario like it's also kind of hard because you want to show that you're a normal guy just trying to get around you because you're walking too slow gladys but like i don't know what to do have you tried euro stepping around them like gain some speed i euro stepped around some people hiking i've i've done a spun move spin move i've pressed b on them you know i spinned them uh you euro stepped uh just like once but no i was in this situation
Starting point is 01:02:55 in hawaii hiking i we got to the top of this thing oh that i forgot about this i haven't told the story anywhere so great we got to the top of this like mountain and it really wasn't about we were like on like the same plane as like the fog like we were kind of like with the fog which is kind of cool i've never been in that scenario before so we're up there a very old woman is like uh hiking uh with us which is like how like we're pretty sweaty like i'm not like dying but it's amazing some of those hikers that are like you're 84 years old yeah and you're doing great she was very old we passed her on the way going up and we said hi to her and um it sounded like literal dust came out of her mouth when she said hi back it was like a oh my gosh i hope you're
Starting point is 01:03:37 okay she's sucking a little too much fog but she was up there at the top not far after us as we're like good for you whatever and so we're kind of just all enjoying the view it's just silent and then this woman goes i mean out of nowhere she's up there like with her husband or something but then she's like all of a sudden on facetime scott scott i'm on top of maui right now look and i just couldn't get over this woman one how loud she was but two just like just such a flex just like probably hasn't talked to scott in years right just like waited like i'm on top of maui it was like her verbiage just like look just such a flex. Just like, probably hasn't talked to Scott in years. Right. Just like waited. Like I'm on top of Maui.
Starting point is 01:04:06 It was like her verbiage. Just like, look, look how great I am. I'm hiking right now. Yeah. Like, like we assumed at first that Scott was like her son or something, but later on you realize like Scott was her boss that she just retired from this job and he's still working there or something. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:04:18 Like Scott used to feed her applesauce at the nursing home. And then now she's like, no, I don't need this. I can hike Maui. You'll never be able to do that. Oh yeah. Watch this. But anyway, we get to the top of this thing and now she's like, no, I don't need this. I can hike Maui. You'll never be able to do that. Oh yeah? Watch this. But anyway, we get to the top of this thing
Starting point is 01:04:27 and everyone kind of makes their way down before me. And so I was like, you guys go ahead. Classic Jake. What? Just like you go ahead? Well, like,
Starting point is 01:04:34 no, not necessarily. Like, I feel like anytime we go... Oh, I'm just the last one to leave. Let's say that we're playing basketball. It's like, all right, we're all going to McDonald's. Oh, I'm always the last one.
Starting point is 01:04:41 Somehow, like, we drive five minutes and Jake is 10 minutes after everybody else. So... That is on par. Yeah. That's right. And so I'm behind him. Well, I get stuck behind there's like this like this couple They look Swedish. We found out later like they're kind of nice Swedish. Yeah We found out later because we saw him the next day on the fly boarding dock that she was something European. So Swedish We she I don't remember they are
Starting point is 01:05:07 in front of me hiking my friends are in front of them i have to get around the swedes but they are it's a narrow trail and i don't know how to get around them or whatever so again i was kind of the same thing where i'm like i don't know when to pass i'm like i'm trying to make some noise like yeah shuffle my feet a little bit like they have they have to know i'm back here and so eventually they finally let me pass and i'm like oh thank you thank you they move up to the side but they chose a very muddy spot to let me pass and so it's one of the things like i'm gonna have to i'm gonna show a little hustle here as i pass like okay thank you i look up at them to make some eye contact slip fall kind of do like a half spin brace myself with my wrist as i go down
Starting point is 01:05:44 go ahead and finish the spin i do another 180 and then go back around and then finger gun them and like walk away i i swear i did finger gun i well it was sweet i did because it was like at this point i've already made a fool of myself so let's just like lean into it it's because i mean i i eat it i fall i spin around finger gun them um like the left arm was like muddy. That was like what hit the ground. Bummer. And I just go, what did I,
Starting point is 01:06:08 I said something like, hope you enjoyed that little trick. See you guys later or something like that. And then like kind of hustled off. And so it was like kind of funny. We get back to the cars and I tell everyone the story.
Starting point is 01:06:15 I'm like, do you guys remember that like couple, like the really tall couple? I was like, I totally ate it in front of them and finger gun and said, hope you enjoyed the show. And then the very next day
Starting point is 01:06:22 they're on our boat to go to the fly boarding dock. Like, oh, hey guys. You remember me? Did they say anything to guys you remember me anything do you i talked to him yeah yeah that's incredible like how you doing i was like i'm fine embrace myself i love how yeah i can't believe that you did a spin and finger guns yeah the finger guns are a classic but the spin felt like more like whoa i'm really going for it here i don't know if i would do finger guns by myself i don't wouldn't have that much courage so good for you i think it was just on vacation i don't know i finger gunned it but vacation jake just finger guns all time but yeah that was funny because i literally experienced that i was
Starting point is 01:06:49 like how do i get around these people i'm not gonna go through the brush right but your your friends every every minute that you they're only getting further away so far yeah yeah and you already waited 10 minutes before you left dude also i'm so hot down here are you warm yeah what's happening i don't know it's so hot it's fall we're both wearing like pink purple colors that could be it maybe man it's so warm it's okay it's okay uh uh you got one i got one yo i was at uh the tire store the other day okay and discount tire discount tire you gotta go to discount uh yeah katherine had a flat tire in colorado we finally got it fixed um so i was there waiting in the waiting room and this guy comes in looks kind of confused kind of dejected um I was painting the picture here he was he looked like he could be a member of the band Korn I know exactly
Starting point is 01:07:35 what he looks like okay yeah um long skinny like long hair black hair whatever comes in and he's like hey like I just want to understand what's going on here. Like I paid to have my tires, um, balanced and I didn't get their tires balanced. Uh, they just had, they said that one of my tires needed replaced. Um, but they replaced that one, but I'm looking at their receipt and I don't think they got balanced. Right. And, and like, it was kind of awkward cause he was frustrated. He's like, he's like, I would really like to get them balanced, but I've already weighed all this time.
Starting point is 01:08:06 I don't want to wait any more time. Like, can you just do this really quick and get it balanced? And the discount tire guy looks at the receipt. He's like, okay, yeah, let me pull up your, uh, your records or whatever. And he goes, yeah, it looks like, uh, we can't balance those tires because that tire is 26 years old. Oh, wow. And it was just like, like, I'd never heard of,
Starting point is 01:08:27 I've never heard a tire being that old in my entire life. I can't imagine driving on a tire that long. He had to like have it in his garage for a while. And so this guy's like, Oh, that's pretty, that's pretty old, huh? And the guy's like, yeah, uh, we're not allowed to do any maintenance on any tires more than 10 years old. So there's literally almost three times older. Three times the legal limit. I want to know like how bald those tires were. And. Or, or yeah, just like did no one drive.
Starting point is 01:08:50 It was an old Toyota Camry. So maybe it was like his grandma's or something. Good for him. Yeah. But. Am I ignorant here or am I stupid? I don't know what tire balancing means. I don't either.
Starting point is 01:08:59 I thought maybe that meant like rotating them. I thought that was going to be the punchline is that tire balancing doesn't exist. It's like, hey, freshman, go get the box of curveballs yeah i've heard of that maybe he meant like rotating them like yeah because that helps with the overall balance of your tires or like the yeah i don't i don't know yeah he seemed like he just wanted some circus performer to like balance on like a tightrope with his tires yeah i it was just like i just never like the the words coming out of his like it was like uh when uh out in the office when he's like when kevin malone's like i
Starting point is 01:09:31 paid to get my shoes shined where are they they're like sir we your shoes are destroyed like we incinerated them or whatever because they're so smelly it was like one of those things was like yeah we can't do work on your tire because it's 26 years old. I mean, anything 26 years old should probably not be like, well, I don't know, I guess house, whatever human body. Like how many cars out there are even 26 years old? Yeah, what would that be? 95? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:09:53 That's old. Right. Like I'm not saying no one drives those old cars, but like I get flat tires a lot. I just change my tire. Like it's not that weird of a thing. You wait 26 years to get tires rotated. Look, I know i'm
Starting point is 01:10:05 overdue a little like this guy gets his like oil changed like once every like 15 years yeah i know this every 3 000 miles but i'm more of every 15 years guy i'm more of a 26 years and then i'm done with them i don't need a balance i don't need them changed you said this guy looks like he's from corn yeah like pretty long hair uh-huh i like to imagine him like donating his hair to locks of love 15 years after he cut it hey it's been laying around the house locks of love is still a thing right like you guys are so good all right here's like a dreadlock i cut off right when i was in high school it's still good if you guys want it they'll stay it'll still work if some like little girl with you know um leukemia wants this dreadlock feel free to just give it to
Starting point is 01:10:40 her if not just send it to american doll it's fine either way they way, they'll enjoy it. Yeah, it's just like it was. I just I couldn't believe that this guy said like if he was said 10 years, I would have thought that was kind of like, oh, wow. Like those are pretty old tires. Like 26 are pretty ridiculous.
Starting point is 01:10:53 I don't know. Maybe I'm wrong. Comment and let me know if you're tired balances. Yeah, but I could not believe that. So I like immediately as he said, I pulled out my notes and wrote it down. 26 year tire.
Starting point is 01:11:02 Yeah, so I need to give a shout out to TJ and Brooke real quick. They were so they uh i think a decent amount of people who listen to our podcast at least are familiar with them it seems like like at the bottom of our podcast is you might also like the you know the walk and love podcast so like we got some crossover they had me on their podcast um if you guys want to go listen to it you can it's a lot of like my life story it's a lot of stuff you probably heard before but we also love podcasts yeah walk in love but we also got to some kind of deeper stuff it was great tj's hilarious and they were just so great our last full night in hawaii oh how hilarious is this guy like are you like
Starting point is 01:11:34 that big see really pretty hilarious dang dude all right like should i be nervous about this guy i'll be nervous okay you know i like if you moved move to Hawaii, if he lived on Kauai, you would be real nervous. But Maui to Brown to Brown. But yeah, they had us all over, which we had gained a couple of people on our trip by the end of it. And so they they had us all over for dinner. And also, right. We walked in to have an apparel company and they had multiple racks of clothing.
Starting point is 01:12:02 And there was like, hey, welcome in. We got food ready for you guys. Also, feel free to take as much clothing as you want. Smorgasbord, baby. I can't imagine what the damage you would have done to them in there. You would have cleaned them out. Oh, I would have.
Starting point is 01:12:12 I would have started my own business. I would have been like, I want to go buy some more luggage at Marshall's and take these bad boys home. I mean, yeah, you 100% dude. Isaac did some damage way more than most. Well, I think Isaac and I, I mean, yeah, you 100% dude, Isaac did some damage way more than most. Well, I think Isaac and I, since, since we value nice clothes and woodworking clothes, like, but so often we always are like, I'm not going to woodwork in this, in this shirt. And
Starting point is 01:12:35 then it's like, ah, I just got to go run and do something in the shop. And then all of a sudden you like snag it on a corner or you get some wet stain on or something. You're like this search ruined. So maybe we just value them a little differently. That could be it. Or we just love free stuff so much. But yeah, they were so generous. So everyone is walking home, which is like- That's awesome. Me, Isaac, and Jay saw San Diego Airport
Starting point is 01:12:52 just decked out walking love gear. That's great. It was awesome. Picked up a hoodie. It was perfect for the flight home. It was a little chilly. There you go. Hoodies are great for the fall time.
Starting point is 01:12:59 Fall. Yeah. But not with walking love, probably with us. With Ghostbusters.life doing better. Yeah. So they were just awesome and really fun. so and you met them check them out you met them from uh like that one trip you went on with trey when everyone brought their wives and trey's plus one was me yeah i met them on that trip yeah yeah in uh los angeles okay it's a good time that's awesome so that's that uh last week brad yeah was our biggest week ever for the podcast seriously
Starting point is 01:13:26 yeah i haven't really checked in a while just like let's check in and see that's fun have we have we been missing a lot of biggest weeks that we haven't been announcing since you haven't been checking or is it like no not really we had a couple which is great we had a couple biggest mondays but last week was our biggest week ever and i think it has to be because of school coming back maybe just like yeah students maybe listening again yeah shout out kelly ann farmer she listened twice she sent us a message at like 9 40 on monday said i've already listened to the podcast twice today maybe that's why she said this is the best episode you guys have ever done wow and i said really wow she said you guys were just clicking it was going great so wow yeah so maybe there's more of you that we don't know but shout out to
Starting point is 01:14:03 you guys for listening thank you shout out to you that's that's awesome um should we do some shout outs yeah let's do some shout outs i want to give a shout out to uh cory cory fisher he left us a voice memo a while back what i said where is bobby fisher yeah uh that he was going to be in maui the same time as me okay totally forgot about it walked into tj's house to film a podcast i was like oh uh i mean i didn't know him he knew me we figured it out also saw each other later in the day. He was at TJ's? He was staying at TJ's house. Oh, okay. So did you, had you known him before? No. So he knew me and he was like, I'm Corey. I was like, oh my gosh, I forgot about that. Yeah. You're going to be here. Yeah, totally. I remember all this now. And, uh, he was great. I learned him and his wife were both great. I
Starting point is 01:14:39 learned that he was also the original voice of memoir who gave us the inside joke of took us. No, that was him. Oh, that's awesome. Yeah. He was took us guy. Shout out. Took us guy. Corey. Yeah. He was great. He was fun. I like his voice memo. So it makes sense. He was fun in real life. Yeah. Shout out Corey and his wife, whose name is, you know, Caroline. She's, she's his wife. Don't look at her. Don't know her. You know, that's why I always like, anytime I don't remember the girl's name, it's like, you don't remember her name know that's why i always like anytime i don't remember the girl's name don't know it's like you don't remember her name and i'm doing you a favor i'm like sweetie like i am just focused on men only like whoa whoa not too much um so okay shout out uh to people around me while i work at a coffee shop because whenever i like brainstorming i'm
Starting point is 01:15:21 typing and stuff i just have this habit of like looking around the coffee shop and I make eye contact with people as you're typing. Yes. It's like, it's like, wait, why are you giving them a shout out? Just because it's awkward to me to like, like, so I'm sorry if you're in a coffee shop with me, shout out to you for doing that. Okay. So I'd like to give a shout out to one of my most valued assets, uh, early on in the
Starting point is 01:15:41 trip to Hawaii. And that was just 12 ounces of pure gold bond oh wow never had to use this power really powder powder powder guy powder uh-huh yeah so our first like day there we didn't really have much of a plan we tried to go surfing that was a huge fail that didn't work um and then it was like well we're already here there's this cool hike like right next to us let's just go hiking jake said his swim trunkies not not much else not good and so we go on this like pretty you know solid hike and uh yeah you go straight trunks or you have a you have the the bike shorts in there or something like a liner no not a liner but like uh like underwear
Starting point is 01:16:19 like like like but not underwear what are you trying to say uh what are bike shorts no not like girls like biker shorts sure like like i do not wear those oh yeah like like yeah not underwear what are you trying to say uh what are bike shorts no not like girls like biker shorts sure like like i do not wear those oh yeah like like yeah spandex yes like what do you wear when you play basketball just boxers and shorts you were bog straight box yeah like like just like swing low sweet chariots they don't they don't stretch at all those like cotton boxers and shorts good for you okay never mind, never mind. This is... Edit it out, Derek. Derek. Derek.
Starting point is 01:16:48 Almost. Justin. No, I just... Okay, straight shorts. I just normal boxers almost all the time. Okay. Unless I'm swimming and then just trunks. Because you have liner in there. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:17:01 Okay, okay. Sorry. So yeah, that'll make a difference. Point being, i needed gold bond and boy did it come in handy that's it yeah but you the worst part about gold bonds you can't hide that you're using gold bond because it's very smelly it but it smells good oh smelly i was gonna say just visually like it just it just gets on everything but you can just smell it from a mile away i feel like huh you got a good smell um okay shout out to the people this is just one of those things that happened to me this week where it's like sms
Starting point is 01:17:28 text and data rates may apply shout out to the people who need to see that like how many people out there are like whoa i can charge for text like don't like i ordered a bagel from panera the other day and was like i would like to know when it's ready and it was like sms text and data rates may apply i can't imagine people are like hey maybe i'll just manually check them so yeah who are those people is this like a michelle cricket yeah wireless boost mobile kind of thing she already has boost mobile picking me up soon or what darling is there yeah i um i've always wondered that i've recently subscribed to a few different like clothing companies test and they're great and also there's no way they're having as many deals as they are i think they're tricking me but
Starting point is 01:18:07 they're always tricking you 24 hours only yeah right i don't buy it but yeah always standard messaging rates apply right do you i still remember i think we talked about this on the podcast the day i got free or like unlimited texting it was great one of the greatest days of my life yeah one of the most like liberating feelings i've ever had even though i'll never go back like i think i think when i first got texting, I had like a thousand texts a month or something. And I would always think like, I gotta be close to a thousand and then I would always check it and it'd be like 400 texts, you know, like, yeah. So shout out to those people. Shout out to them. I'd like to give a shout out to cheerleaders for teaching me how
Starting point is 01:18:41 to spell aggressive. Oh, that's good. That's really good. You, yeah, that's good. I don't know what else to say. B-E-A-G-G-R-E-S-S-I-V-E. And then they tell you that it's aggressive. B, aggressive. B, B, aggressive. Is that a Gene Schwartz video where we do spelling Bs with cheerleaders and we just make it more and more ridiculous as it goes? Yeah. That's pretty funny. That's a good sketch. Yeah. All right. Your word is photosynthesis. Okay.
Starting point is 01:19:12 Ready? Okay. P-H-O, I don't know. P-H-O-T-O-S-Y-N-T-H-E-S-I-S. S-I-S, photosynthesis. Very well done, Brad. That's a hard enough word to do. All right. Your word is
Starting point is 01:19:29 mitochondria. Awesome. I'm trying to point my microphone now. It's not working. All right. Boo tigers. We're on to ya. Let's spell mitochondria.
Starting point is 01:19:51 It goes M-I-T-O-C-H-O-N-D-R-A-I-A. Mitochondria, boys. Boys? That's perfect. That's it. That's my, so that's science-based spelling bee with cheerleaders. Let's remember that for the boys. There's something. Okay.
Starting point is 01:20:07 Um, Oh yeah. That was my shout out. Shout out to cheerleaders for teaching me how to spell aggressive. Uh, shout out to my wife, Catherine. Uh,
Starting point is 01:20:12 August has been a sweaty month for old Brad. And just right now. Oh, I guess it's September. Uh, I just be between like waking up early, working before jean shorts, going to jean shorts,
Starting point is 01:20:22 coming back from jean shorts, working some more. I'm like going through three pairs of clothes a day and she's just having to do so much laundry so shout out to katherine for keeping up with it thank you so much that's a good shout out yeah i would like to give a shout out to the uh new habitat that i have in my room okay it's been awesome uh two nights ago i'm about to fall asleep it's pretty late like i'm that I have in my room. Okay. It's been awesome. Two nights ago,
Starting point is 01:20:48 I'm about to fall asleep. It's pretty late. Like I'm really looking forward to this sleep. Get in bed. And I don't even know if I've really talked about this. Like at this point, I'm so like, I'm so used to it
Starting point is 01:20:57 that it's not even seems like conversation worthy, but I hear critters in the walls or slash ceilings like pretty often in our house. And I'm kind of just like, we talking like a little or like a cricket or yeah something like rustling like mouse squirrel something how is in the wall like i just hear it and it's like i'm so confident they're inside of
Starting point is 01:21:13 the walls but at least it's in the walls and not like on your clothes yeah and it's just like there's not much i could do look just if you're unconscious yeah then you we won't be scared anymore so just go to sleep it's a lot of mind over matters i'm falling asleep like just don't think about it so i've gotten pretty used to that but two nights ago as i'm about to fall asleep i hear something and without a shadow of a doubt i'm like that mouse is in my room and i know exactly where that mouse is like i know he's in that baggie right over there i can hear at least one of them inside of there like at the foot of my bed basically yeah i hear like that's like that's like a plastic bag rustling right now i know exactly where you're so tired no no no no i was very awake at that point okay so yeah i knew right where they were um i got that bag out of
Starting point is 01:21:56 there uh first thing the next morning um and so i went slept on the couch uh that night okay like kind of like what was it bounded to the house was in the bag um yes vicky's kettle cook chips i'm trying to there yeah i guess i could tell this story yeah i'm just curious is it food related yeah it was uh several months back okay i always a good start ended things with a woman okay unfortunately on that night she had a gift for me so she was like and it was cool she was like well i don't want this anymore you gotta take it and i was like that's fair i'll take it and so there was like a couple cute gifts in there and also a couple like cute snacks and whatever and like inside jokes and it was kind of like you like when you get a card from your grandma yeah it's like i'm gonna throw this away
Starting point is 01:22:44 eventually yeah but not right now no it's like, I'm going to throw this away eventually. But not right now. It's like, I'm not just going to go home and just throw away this gift she gave me. So I just put it in my room and just don't think about it for months and months and months. And then when I heard that mouse crawler, I was like, Megan? She played the long con. She got me. She got Stuart Little in here to shake it up they're in cahoots yeah that's right she must still be upset um and so i threw that away and that was
Starting point is 01:23:12 the reason why and then last night i kind of cleaned out my room a little bit more and you know definitely like no more food in there yeah and then last night lights are still on i'm out of the shower about to go to bed but haven't like laid in bed yet and i saw it i saw a mouse scurry like through my clothes like in my bedroom and it was like a playground to him yeah and i will say he looked terrified so that's good like he was so scared he's more scared of you than you are of him always remember that always yeah so he looked terrified but i was like this sucks do you see where he went or you stay in? I saw where he went.
Starting point is 01:23:47 Yeah, I don't know if he was in the pile. No, I saw where he came from and where he went. So I've got some some things in mind and went up on the couch again. Oh, that reminds me. Did you wake up two mornings ago? I don't know if it's just because I was on the couch. The loudest thunder I've ever heard. Five thirty a.m.
Starting point is 01:23:59 Do you remember waking up to that? OK, it was crazy. Not trying to brag, but I was already awake. OK, so, you know, but my daughter is newly just terrified of thunder and lightning. Yeah. You were saying that last week. And so I had just taken a shower. I got out of the shower with a towel on. So not trying to traumatize my daughter, open the door. And my daughter is staring right at me. And it's like one of those things where it's like, when you just don't expect to see anybody. And then all of a sudden I go, Oh, Hey, I was scared. So I don't, I don't, I didn't hear the exact thing, but I think that's what woke her up. It was crazy. I think that we're
Starting point is 01:24:34 talking about it, but Oh, wow. Anyway, I think a couple of weeks ago, I told you that I wanted to do some sort of like staycation. Like I need to get away. I need to work on so much tourist stuff. Now it's better time than ever. I'm getting out of there. So I think as soon as we're done here, I already booked a hotel room tonight. So I'm going to, I'm going to work on so much tourist stuff now it's better time than ever i'm getting out of there so i think as soon as we're done here i already booked a hotel room tonight so i'm gonna i'm gonna like clean up my room set some traps yeah uh also harris is out of town so she's gonna be isaac and the mice tonight and i'm gonna go to get a hotel room for two nights are you gonna get like a like what kind of hotel we go with like just like kano lodge okay lodge sounds fun yeah right the kano breakfast i had to with the thing that like gets like three things of uh cereal every time you like scoop it like you're burning calories on that oh that's awesome dude econo lodge baby so i'm gonna do
Starting point is 01:25:18 that tonight tomorrow night i can't wait till you come home and like you just got like holes and everything like the mice just bit through everything oh yeah like they were actually went to town now yeah they're gonna have fun yeah yeah what kind of traps we're going with i i've bought so many traps in my day like you go glue traps you go like the classic classic whackers classic whacker classic whackers i haven't bought traps yet i don't know okay there's tons just would you ever what would you recommend i don't know i don't none of them worked for me last time like um eventually we just didn't see them the uh mouse anymore so but i think give them poison like you do with ants like drink this poison go die on your own terms i think so i'd like to do that i think you can do that i also think that like i bought this
Starting point is 01:25:59 box that was supposed to like lure them in and then poison them inside the box they were a box they were like trapped in there and they die. And then you just pick up the box and throw the whole thing away. I like the lure box. Which I liked because the. Ferret style. Glue traps are supposedly like the best, but they, you have to still look at this mouse. Glue traps are not the best.
Starting point is 01:26:15 But I think they are like the most effective is what I'm saying. No. No? No. In the K-Life house, we put down glue traps and the glue traps would just go missing. Like you would only get like three out of four legs on the glue trap and then have some hacksaw ridge friend come on and please god give me one more and then he would come and save all of his mouse friends and then we never even found the glue traps okay so not not even effective and they're still alive
Starting point is 01:26:35 which is kind of like let's either do it or don't do it yeah it's not just like slowly kill them go for the box then yeah okay try a box mouse lure box yeah cool report back next week last night all right we'll do uh that's fun man okay it'd be fun to prank isaac sorry i just had this thought like he thinks i'm in the hotel and then just like just snap like six mousetraps tonight like 1 a.m just sounds like i'm just there's a frenzy going on yeah or how could you like automate that somehow like yeah make it that's funny uh okay i got a few more here okay uh shout out to um also working in a coffee shop while it's storming like i i was at the coffee shop the other day when it was just like pouring down rain and
Starting point is 01:27:12 just there's something about like just like sitting down working and looking out and like just like pandemonium is happening outside and you're just in this calm nice coffee shop working that's just amazing to me really i do not work nearly as well if it's raining and storming outside really i feel disarray what why my god this is not how it's supposed to be this is not this is not supposed to storm sunny i like sunny i like sunny okay yeah that's how i feel see if it's sunny to me i'm like i wish i were outside doing something outside if it's storming i'm like there's no place i'd rather be than curled up here with my you know working on my merch design. How curled up do you get in a public coffee shop?
Starting point is 01:27:47 I would say 65, 70%. That's pretty curled. Pretty curled. Yeah. For you. Like a bass clef, you know? Yeah, that's not bad. Good curl.
Starting point is 01:27:56 No, it's just a normal curl. Okay. But yeah, I just like it. I like, I like looking out and it's like crazy out there. And then there's like no one in the coffee shop except for the people that already were fortunate enough to be in there. You like grandfathered in, you got in before the storm. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:28:08 So the baristas are just nice and calm. There's kind of looking around like, wow, it's really storming out there. It's like, yeah, it is. Uh,
Starting point is 01:28:14 it's great. The radar doesn't do it justice. I also love, there's been a few times where I've been in the coffee shop when it's snowing. Also a great, no, that's better.
Starting point is 01:28:21 It's beautiful out there. More peaceful. Yeah. Rain, thunder loud. Also true. Uh, this isn't a shout out, but I have a question for you, that's better. It's beautiful out there. More peaceful. Yeah. Rain, thunder loud. Also true. This isn't a shout out, but I have a question for you, Brad.
Starting point is 01:28:29 Tell me. Ask me. I was thinking to myself how like while I was in Hawaii, I was like it's I was thinking about my other Hawaii trips, obviously. And I was like it dawned on me. I was like, well, it's kind of crazy. Like 2019, I went to Oahu in January. Then like a month later, I went to Australia and New Zealand. And then later in 2019, i went to australia and new zealand and then later in 2019 i went to
Starting point is 01:28:45 uh kawaii and then i'm pretty sure that was the same december that i went to tulum i was like that's crazy like that was like such a big year of travel for me and i'm sure a lot of people are saying things like oh if i would have known 2020 was gonna be like it was i would have like time i would have traveled as much as i could in 2019 yeah this is like oh i am smart i am like a time traveler i knew the future and i knew what i was going to do that brings me to my question tell me 100 serious what would i have to do do you think like to convince you that i was a time traveler like how would i need to prove it to you um you have to do something where it's like you predict something. Oh, I don't know.
Starting point is 01:29:27 Like some of this happens in the movies a lot and they never believe them. No. At first. Um, oh, I don't know. Let's see. It had to be something very personal to me. Like personal. Would you need to see something?
Starting point is 01:29:37 Would you want me to predict the future? Yes. You want me to like, yes. Okay. I want you to predict like, hey, tomorrow night there's going to be six mousetraps that go off in your house. And I don't even have mousetraps. You're like, no, trust me. Just wait. Okay. I want you to predict like, Hey, tomorrow night, there's going to be six mousetraps that go off in your house. And I don't even have mousetraps. And you're like, no, trust me. Just wait. Yeah. Uh, yeah. Something like that where it's like, or yeah. Or either that, or like as a time traveler, can you sometimes be there as the
Starting point is 01:29:58 present self is also there? I know I only get one place. You can't be like just one second ahead. Like if you could teleport real quick, I would you yeah that's what you're talking about if you could if you could be like because if you time travel four seconds ahead and then you're just over here all of a sudden i would be very impressed by that that's not the same thing at all what if i gave you like specific chief statistics would that help it would help i would need i would need i think i would i think i would believe you after two weeks. But I did it twice. Yeah. Like if I give you the exact yardage from McCall Hardman, two weeks in a row.
Starting point is 01:30:29 It had to be like two, it had to be at least two players each, each week. Like it couldn't just be one because that's just a good guess twice. But I would believe you if you gave me all the stats of all the position player, like all the skilled players of the chiefs one week, I would absolutely believe you. Oh my gosh. He's done it. I would either believe you or I i believe you i was gonna say i would either believe you or have like some kind of doubt of like how do you do that but i don't
Starting point is 01:30:51 how would you do that you know how i did it i traveled time i'm telling you bro i traveled okay can't wait for football season got a lot of things in store for you let's have some bold predictions on should we do it this time right now should do it this time right now i mean i know what's gonna happen but we can like predict it. Don't go forward real quick. It's against the Browns. Yeah. I watched a lot of the Chiefs-Browns
Starting point is 01:31:10 AFC Divisional game last year. Uh-huh. Just, and Chad Henney, I forgot about all that. It was so fun. Oh, you watched it again? Yeah, yeah. Oh, nice.
Starting point is 01:31:17 Yeah. Yeah. That was, yeah, that was awesome. To gear me up for this one. Sorry, Browns fans out there. Sorry, Browns. You want to do some bold predictions? Or should we do a Patreon?
Starting point is 01:31:28 We've already talked about football enough. Yeah, maybe we can do some Patreon stuff. Okay, I want to give a quick two more shout outs. Okay, go for it. Back to back. First of all, quick shout out to my girl, four-year-old Kinsey Swick. Oh yeah, she deserves this.
Starting point is 01:31:39 Kinsey Swick, first day of school. What's she wearing? Ghostrunners.life merch that says Hattie on it, which is just the most bizarre sentence. You say it out loud. You say, I have a podcast and I have friends from that podcast that I've never met before who have a four-year-old daughter who bought a shirt that has my four-year-old daughter's name on it. And she wore it to school. That's just crazy. That's something you don't hear every day. Kinsey. So shout out Kinsey. Shout out to you. And then second one is just shout out to all the cross country runners in the neighborhoods.
Starting point is 01:32:06 It's that time of year. You just watch people running through the neighborhoods. Yeah. I don't like seeing high school girls in sports bras running around. Sure. That's obviously true. But just like I just I I imagine like like the worst. I don't understand why you might do it is what I'm trying to get to.
Starting point is 01:32:22 Like like the worst parts of every single practice I can think of in football or baseball or basketball is cross country practice every single day. Right? Like, it's like, they look miserable. It was a good practice. Those,
Starting point is 01:32:33 those side walks until we had to run. And that's all they do for practice. Like, gosh, we had to do so many sprints yesterday. That's all cross country is. It's just running. I don't understand it.
Starting point is 01:32:44 Like, and like, you don't have cuts in football, go play football. Like, why are you cross country? You know what I mean? I think at least in Stratford, it was always a very tight knit group of people. Yes. And it was an awesome coach, which I don't know what kind of coaching he was doing, but everyone loved coach Fabro. Okay. So maybe that's why you do it. See, I think, and there's, so whenever you drive past them, there's like progressions of these cross country runners. You see the first 15, 20, those are those kids of like, we have a tight knit community.
Starting point is 01:33:13 We love the coach. They're very good at running. You got the people near the end that's like, oh, I didn't even realize the line was still going. You know, they're around the corner. Like the kid is like, you could tell like, he's kind of holding his shirt. Like he's kind of, he's like he's kind of he's kind
Starting point is 01:33:25 of skinny but it's like dude you're gonna be overweight when you're bigger like you are a 12 year old kid and you wear size you know 13 shoes you're gonna go into those shoes those rebox yeah those things like they're just clawed around like like that guy looks like he is miserable out there and so i just just shout out to those guys i that reminds me clodding around i hated baseball conditioning running in like metal spikes yes was the worst of any conditioning i've ever had yes i hated it that's all i need to say shout out to not that that was the opposite of metal spikes yeah um so anyway i've just seen him multiple times and i just think to myself every time i'm just like you could be doing better guys do something else get a Minecraft account
Starting point is 01:34:05 that's what I was that's literally took the words out of my mouth that's what you meant I figured so okay we've already been recording for a while now what do we do two voice memos maybe yeah two sound good which ones do we want to
Starting point is 01:34:22 do do the good one okay and the other one that's really good too. Hi, Jake and Brad. Hi. My name's Anna. I'm from Harrisburg, North Carolina. And I just got done playing a kickball game and I got a grand slam.
Starting point is 01:34:35 So let's go put it in the books. Oh, hang banners for that. Okay. Anyway, I'm a sophomore in high school. What is that? And I just started three days ago and I'm in Spanish one right now. Oh, put in the books. Super'm a sophomore in high school. What is that? And I just started three days ago and I'm in Spanish one right now. Oh, put it in the box.
Starting point is 01:34:47 And it's super fun. So I was wondering, what are some of your favorite phrases in Spanish? Hopefully that's a good question. I'm not really sure. Answer it if you want. Also, I want to give a shout out to my sister, Haley, who just moved in at UNC Chapel Hill. Hi, Haley. Hope you're having a good time.
Starting point is 01:35:05 Okay. Bye, guys. I like the shout outs. Start doing shout outs in your UNC Chapel Hill. Hi, Haley. Hope you're having a good time. OK, bye, guys. I like the shout outs. Start doing shout outs in your voice memos. That's fun. Shout out to Haley. Shout out to Haley. Hi, Haley.
Starting point is 01:35:13 And you know what? Chapel Hill. What was her name? Char Hills. Anna. Anna, be confident in your question. Like, don't don't. She's a big no worries
Starting point is 01:35:18 either way kind of person. That's me texting. Let me say, like, that's easy to do. It shows that you're nice. But as you grow older, I think that's a big thing in high school. Like, don't do it. Like, like when you go to college, don't do it. Like, just be confident in yourself. Don't be a jerk, but just be like, this is my question. Like, you don't have to apologize. That was great. That was a great question.
Starting point is 01:35:36 Put it in the books, put it in the books, put that in the books. She said, what are your favorite Spanish phrases? Yeah. And I feel like I, you know, I don't know how long she did listen to the podcast but she probably knows how much you know how much i love spanish culture and how much well quite frankly that i know about it yeah they've they've called you the um go on the immersion um caucasian oh because my skin is so dark yep they think i am because you're looking for jasmine the immersion immersion Persian. You're always immersing yourself. I'm trying to think of like what Spanish phrase I want to say. Like there's so many that I know.
Starting point is 01:36:10 I like, I like, eh. That's a good one. I like. Oh, was there more? No, that was good. Okay, yeah, yeah. Eh, I like tacos. That's good Spanish.
Starting point is 01:36:21 Just saying, okay. Who's ready to fiesta? Just English with an accent. With saying, okay. Who's ready to fiesta? Just English with an accent. With a little accent. I would like to order the pollo con queso. Perfect.
Starting point is 01:36:33 That was, I thought I did good with that. That was really good. Yeah. And they'll know exactly what you're saying. If he works at the right place.
Starting point is 01:36:40 Pollo con queso, yeah. I like cheesy gordita crunch. That's my favorite expression. Started in that Taco Bell. Yeah. Hey, what can I get for you? Ole si, my friend. Ah, so many good options.
Starting point is 01:36:53 Real talk, do any Mexicans eat at Taco Bell ever? I doubt it. There's no way. I've never looked to notice one way or the other, but lots of Mexicans eat at Chipotle. I've never seen one that I can remember eat at Taco Bell. Yeah, that wouldn't make sense. So in reality, two that I really love are Keonda. If you say Keonda in Mexico, you're really cool.
Starting point is 01:37:13 It means that's what's up. Basically, it means what's up. Oh, does it actually? Yeah. I was just gonna. Keonda Huero means what's up, white boy. So that's kind of fun. Okay.
Starting point is 01:37:20 Wait, what does gringo mean? I thought that was like offensive white boy. Gringo is also. I think way is like, dude, way row is kind of like white boy just the word way means dude way yeah okay on the way he on the way yeah people will be like oh seriously it's one of us it's like kind of like knowing edmund's a great place to grow okay on the way like it'll get you what's up dude what's up dude uh and then another one that I like I think it's Spain they say que barbaridad ready for that
Starting point is 01:37:48 que barbaridad it means how crazy all that for how crazy I think so something like that que barbaridad que barbaridad so look those up um I looked up the lyrics to Despacito
Starting point is 01:38:03 I was gonna to do that. But then it translated them all to English. So that joke is ruined. The box always translates to English was checked. That's why I did it. That's why. Yeah, that's okay. Trying to think of my other favorite Spanish phrases.
Starting point is 01:38:21 Probably like... Yeah. That one's not Spanishanish but that's persian same thing almost um and what does that translate to do you remember roughly it's like formal for hello oh okay like the used to every day's version greetings of the day yeah just hello yeah you anymore oh sure yeah yeah uh that one of course means will it have breadsticks? Yeah, right. That's that's what you're at an Italian restaurant. You're over in the Serena Gatsa. Spanish has got to be one of the most fun languages to make up words because you can
Starting point is 01:39:11 sound like you're speaking Spanish pretty easily. Yeah, I feel like that's pretty good. You think so? The Serena Gatsa. The Gatsa. I don't know how many times they have. Do you think you all right? Fun game.
Starting point is 01:39:22 OK, you say something a full sentence in Spanish. OK, but you could say full sentence in Spanish, okay? But you could say it in actual Spanish or in fake Spanish, and I have to determine Which was which let's do it. Are you ready? Yeah? Yeah? Okay, my own that chica seat the house bad Yeah, yeah, think about what you're going to say first. If you're going to say real Spanish, then probably.
Starting point is 01:39:49 Exactly. Estamos quemado. The way you look at me when you say it. Estamos quemado y peleado. Estamos quemado y peleado. Estamos quemado y peleado. I got it. I got it. I got it. That was pretty solid. I'm going to say that's fake.
Starting point is 01:40:11 I think it's real. Really? I forget what it means. I think it means like we're burned and fighting. We're burned and fighting? Yeah. I think quemado means burn. Okay.
Starting point is 01:40:21 You want to try it on me or? No. We're going to try something else. If it doesn't work, we'll cut it out. Wait, what did you say that means? What does that phrase mean? We're burned and fighting. We're burned and fighting.
Starting point is 01:40:30 Yeah. All right. We're going to do a fake Spanish song right now called we're burned. Wait, what'd you say? We're burned and fighting. We're burned and fighting. This song is called we're burned and fighting. Okay.
Starting point is 01:40:42 I googled Spanish reggaeton instrumental. I'm just going to rap. We're both are. We're going to speak Spanish. Okay. instrumental. I'm just going to rap? We're both are. We're going to speak Spanish. Si. Para nada a mi. E managuita. Managuita.
Starting point is 01:40:52 Managuita. Oh. Estamos quemados y peleados. Hola chica. Como estas? Que onda güero? Vale, vale. I love the words. And here we go, Jake. Mexico de Jefe. México, Brasilia, Brasil Este es Samus Indicapitals, I don't know what else to say, hey Mocamira por tu vida, por riquita dora, sigre de cora, pa' te ver que te voy de mora
Starting point is 01:41:39 City Nora, cine toda, sí señora, vete por agua, time is a day as que llora Estamos quemado y peleado Ay nabe nabe Estamos temerado y quemado Ay ay ay ay Eh Para marcha Mota bene
Starting point is 01:42:05 Yo me apamo Brad. Voy a abrir la tica. ¿Dónde está el baño? No me gusta. ¿Cómo está tu madre? ¿Cómo está tu padre? ¿Cómo está tu hermanita y hermano? Ay, ay, ay, estamos en malo y peleado. Ay, ay, ay, estamos peleado y quemado ¿Qué onda? ¿Qué onda? Señorita, señorita, señorita, señorita Que reguipa poco pica, se me demoro
Starting point is 01:42:55 Que demoro, que capizo, que otra chiste aquí Oh, señorita Señorita Matariza Señorita, señorita, guatariza Hola, me llamo Tony, Tango Boost Mobile Te llamo Michelle, dime un llame Hey, hey Donde es Michelle?
Starting point is 01:43:26 Donde es Michelle? Donde es Michelle? Dice Tony. Donde es Michelle? Dice Tony. Tony, Tony, Tony, Tony, Tony, Tony, Tony. Donde es Michelle? We're keeping that in for sure. That was something.
Starting point is 01:43:51 How long was that thing? Three minutes. Oh, it felt like five. Felt like, like, felt like cinco. Cuatro minutos. Oh, thank you, Anna. That was the first.
Starting point is 01:44:03 Thank you, Anna, for the voice memo. Maybe we should just do that one. That one took us a while. That's great. To knock it out. That was the first. Thank you, Anna, for the voice memo. Maybe we just do that one. That one took us a while. That's great to knock it out. That's great. But there's some other good ones. Specifically, Caleb Lavelle.
Starting point is 01:44:12 We'll get to yours next week. That one is awesome. Oh, yeah. We listened to his beforehand and it's special. So we'll listen to that. Maybe some others next week. But for now, let's get on to our reviews of the week. Mine is from I'm pretty sure this is a girl i met when i was in
Starting point is 01:44:25 uh where did i go oh when i did that youth conference in florida uh but she says uh what's up i'm now in eighth grade and i've recently made a new friend group psych tight i don't know dude go ahead this is her review by the way it's five stars i didn't mention that it's five star view i haven't told my friends about ghost runners or anything but i found myself slipping in inside jokes and ghosty language into conversations for For example, not bad. It's just drinks and vibes. I also have a U-Haul vibe shirt and my phone case Jake signed. Anyway, me and my group of four friends who are all girls thought it was fun to act like boys at our school for the day. I love that. We wore backwards baseball hats and dapped each other up in the hallway. And for some reason, I kept saying
Starting point is 01:45:02 vibes, dude. And let's get some vibes in here dude i found it really funny and the rest of my friends were just like oh yeah cool vibes i still haven't told them what it's from anyway thanks for a great podcast it's full of inside jokes that's awesome eighth grade girl is already like doing that that's so funny just like trust up as a dude let's get some vibes in here dude let's go to chemistry that's amazing i love uh i love the idea of like doing the inside jokes without knowing where it comes from because Cause I think sometimes that's a thing that people do. Like that's fine. You say things and you're like, I don't know where that came from, but it's just funny
Starting point is 01:45:28 the way you say it. So that's awesome. Mine's from, uh, Joshua MLH. Uh, the title is, did you order? I'm currently sitting in an Indian restaurant in Garmisch, Germany, which is the Indian capital of the world. And a couple of friends just showed up to a party of seven people. The first thing they asked was, did you order?
Starting point is 01:45:45 And someone answered right away saying, no, just drinks. And I started laughing and everyone stared at me because no one knew what was so funny. Thanks for the fun times, even when I'm not listening to the podcast. Just drinks. It stays. It keeps going. You're welcome, Josh.
Starting point is 01:46:00 MLH. Martin Luther King. Let's do it. Would you like to end this episode with the jingle bread? Yes, this one's coming from our girl, Lane Parker. Oh, I met Lane Parker. Did you? Yeah, in Greensboro.
Starting point is 01:46:12 There you go. She was wearing a Ghost Runners merch shirt. All right, Fishing in the Dark. Here we go. That'd be fun. Do something with that sometime. You and me going fishing in the dark. Coming out of the shop where I've been doing woodwork Then I look up cause Henry came to talk
Starting point is 01:46:31 He started talking at two, how is it already three? Started talking at two, started talking at two Now I think of the pod, Henry's looking away So I pull out my phone cause I know he will stay Now he's speaking of wood And he's bashing the cubs, and I know this is gold So I know what to do now I turn on my phone now
Starting point is 01:46:55 Let me film And I just can't stop this video It's great for ghosties Henry, turning seeds into fruit trees More than just a friendly guy Unsolicited advice but look at the
Starting point is 01:47:30 shimmer Brad what else can I say now Brad one-liners are plenty cause he's neighbor Henry Coming out of the shop where I've been doing woodwork Gotta, gotta be fast cause Henry wants to talk It started out as a bit, How did it end up like this? It was only a bit, it was only a bit
Starting point is 01:48:09 Now I'm hiding inside And he's looking around Then he walks up the drive And he's holding the sprout Now it looks like a peach And my wife is at home And the plant is for her So what should I do now?
Starting point is 01:48:23 I turn on my phone now Nice. Oh wee! It's great for ghosting Henry Turning seeds into fruit trees More than just a friendly guy Unsolicited advice But look at the shimmer, Brad What else can I say now, Brad? One-liners are a plenty. Because he's neighbor Henry.
Starting point is 01:49:16 Here we go. Para la casita. Para mi, para you, for everybody The Dachshund The Dachshund Actually, they call it Chateau Yards in France The Dachshund The Dachshund Good job, Brad.
Starting point is 01:50:00 Good job to the killers. Good job, Lane. Good work from all three of you guys. That was a fun one. It's a good one. You sounded really good, Lane Great job. Thanks Lane. Not surprised. She was awesome Also that song reminded me one time in Hawaii one time one time in Hawaii We're just hanging in the ocean. It was oh, I forgot this story too. It was just so where were you in the ocean? Hawaii oh We went to body surfing one day and isaac just went surfing
Starting point is 01:50:29 on your body all right i gotta say something that doesn't end in one uh isaac had never been body surfing before didn't stop him trying it was some of the hardest i laughed the whole trip because isaac is more or less belly flopping on top of a wave and just hoping it'll like carry him forward like no no you gotta like you gotta push off you gotta put your arms forward or whatever so funny it's hilarious anyway uh we're in the ocean and jace is looking out at like kind of the sunset and the sun bouncing off the water and he just goes man look at that shimmer and i was like do you i was like looking i'm like do you know i think we already talked about earlier the trip that you don't listen to the podcast was like fine but like yeah you don't just say that or whatever and so it's like all the other guys when the guy doesn't know TLC yeah
Starting point is 01:51:11 yeah hey still go chasing waterfalls okay man come on man you just gotta get on your feet Christine like I know it hurts on the secret trip but just get on your feet I don't know I feel like you know now and so I think Kristen was nearby. That also gave Isaac some trouble. Christine, Kristen. Yeah, I bet. And all the Hawaiian words. But Kristen listens to the podcast. She's I think I talked about this last episode.
Starting point is 01:51:34 We've never hung out in the same time zone, which is fun. Met her in Phoenix at that whole thing. Castles and stuff. That whole story. Right. And she came to the show at New Brunswick, New Jersey. And now we're in Hawaii. She listens to the podcast. And so she like knew. Yeah knew yeah and i was like jace do you know that this
Starting point is 01:51:47 is like a big like inside joke with the podcast he's like what are you talking about and i was like the phrase look at that shimmer it's like this weird thing you know he's like oh that's so funny he's like i don't know if i've ever said that phrase before see i don't even know why so that's not in my vocabulary i just say look at that shimmer so we just said it way more because of henry haltrip let's go look at that shimmer. So we just said it way more because of Henry Haltrip. Let's go. Look at that shimmer. Just imagine like there's somebody out there that like, yeah. I mean, obviously Henry has no connection to anybody else but me. And yet so many people are probably saying stuff like that.
Starting point is 01:52:15 You know what I mean? And like, you're like, whoever you are, it doesn't matter if you're a podcast or not, you're probably affecting somebody you don't realize. That's the deeper issue, I guess. Or deeper lesson. But like something you said positively or negatively is going to affect people today so do the right thing that's a great ending note yeah remember that remember that this is your last week to get our current merch remember that uh today at noon monday labor day at noon is when you can join the fantasy league so check back for the youtube link then yep anything else no i think i just want to
Starting point is 01:52:43 say i love you guys i think you just go ahead say I love you guys. I think you just go ahead then. I love you guys. There it is. Here to hear folks. You hear to hear folks. I need to put that on T-shirt. Here to hear folks. Oh, to knock, to knock tune in.
