Starting point is 00:00:00 Hey, people who drive on the highway with their windows down, how come? Dude, I love driving with my windows down. No. Oh, here is going to be an apples to apples thing again. Apples to oranges. No, it's a great. It's a great. It's a great with my paneer pasta.
Starting point is 00:00:18 I think it's great if the I think your speed has to be 35 and under and the temperature has to be pretty ideal. Then I will drive with the windows like halfway down really yeah so so yeah not even let's say you're going two miles on the highway no way like like not even if it's like it's just it's just no way i don't think so i mean first of all hair is a precious thing i have a lot of it and it can be shapeshifted oh yeah uh and two it's just everything about the windows being down at that speed is just awful. It's never the perfect temperature. It's really fun to like yell or like, like, you know, kind of burst your eardrums a little bit while you're
Starting point is 00:00:56 listening to music though. Yeah. You have to turn the volume up way louder. Yeah. Let's say you're in that kind of that twilight zone where it feels like you're inside of a helicopter. Yeah. That doesn't feel good. Your eardrums about to burst yeah yeah yeah on the way well that's that's but if you roll the windows up that's when you hit you feel that like for like that half second it's like oh come on like no no uh no there's something about how many people do it imagine imagine with me it's july 19th okay it's pretty warm 7 38 p.m okay that is perfect i mean it's it's the golden hour yeah you're driving down the highway meeting some friends for a nice patio hangout okay happy hour at 7 38 if we're taking the back roads sure crack a few windies no way highway no
Starting point is 00:01:42 we're on the highway we're bumping some rest lifeing some rest yeah we're just killing it no um so it's getting colder outside and katherine so like i have my this new to me truck that's like super old like doesn't have very good heating make the noise again when it starts good yeah um it's it's fine i mean but yeah it doesn't have great heating it takes a long time to warm up and everything and so i was i was like legitimately looking up there's this uh this jacket that basically has like a heated blanket inside of it it's like a rechargeable battery the george foreman of outerwear it's it's yeah it's two hundred dollars so i'm not gonna buy it okay uh but i thought about it because I was like I would be nice for this truck because it's going to take like I used to have a remote start
Starting point is 00:02:28 and all that stuff don't have that anymore and Catherine's like no no you don't need that she's like she's a dead serious when she said this she's like you know what you should do is just get a Snuggie and keep it in your truck and I thought to myself Catherine
Starting point is 00:02:44 like Snuggies were never good a good idea i don't think they were ever like made to be like super insulating or and just like it's that's a good point right there too yeah the snuggies themselves were like six maybe seven pieces of like loose leaf paper just like pressed together like they were very thin and it's just like keeping, let's say even you did have a nice blanket in your car. It's still freezing cold when you put it on your body. It's going to feel awful. Right. Can you imagine me just like driving down the highway with the windows down with my snuggie, like, Hey, get out of the left lane. If you're not going to go over the speed limit. Espresso Patronum. Uh, uh, oh, I, oh, I think this tight beat means that it's going down with some random thoughts Espresso Patronum! All right, here we are.
Starting point is 00:03:51 We're 139 episodes. Is that right? Do you think? I don't know. 133. Okay. I was kind of close. Yeah, yeah, kind of.
Starting point is 00:04:00 Yeah, I mean, yeah. Yeah, yeah. You knew it was a prime number, I think. Would you say this is going to be the last episode in this studio i would say confidently no yeah i don't think so either no last night at about 12 30 a.m while i was waiting for the uh comfort inn and suites wi-fi to upload uh a tiny little audio file to our podcast i was like let's uh bro i googled podcast interior design studio or something like that yeah yeah just to get ideas i think i'm you know what i'm leaning towards brad maple wood-based yeah
Starting point is 00:04:32 yeah yeah you nailed it i love wood-based stuff i just want to throw some wood in that sucker i have some just good to give you really plenty i have plenty right now of scraps because i'm not uh you know using the fireplace right now. All the fireplace scraps. Yeah. I'd like some wood slats, I think, or just a wooden like thing. I don't know. It just looked nice. That's I love like when a customer comes with such detailed desires like you do Jake, like, Hey, Ellis custom creations.com. Thanks so much for taking my email here. I'm just looking for a wooden thing. Is that, is that okay? How's wood based sound? Uh, yeah, I was thinking wood, like not too woody,
Starting point is 00:05:09 um, but wood based. A moderate amount of wood. Sure. Yeah. I was thinking like maybe a dark wood, uh, maybe a light wood, but it doesn't have to be. I genuinely, I had somebody call me today looking for floating shelves and she's like, I just want, um, there to be like, like lots of grain in the wood oh sure and i i i was like i don't can you can you tell me a little bit more about what you mean by that like she was wanting oak and there's different kinds of oak there's red oak white oak and i was like so which one are you looking for just like the grainiest one that has the grain and i was like oh i i was like they both have grain like they're a little bit different and i'll see some
Starting point is 00:05:43 pictures they're both good at grain yeah you ever had whole grain there yeah that's what that's them they're sarah lee and there's wonder bread which one you want you know they both they both have a little grain in there but that's great jake we love your stuff we'd love for you to make a video for us is there any way you could do one where this that you know like there's a lot of movement yeah yeah yeah like the one that's like like fast cuts oh yeah okay i want one that's like, like fast cuts. Oh yeah. Okay. I want one that's like, it's edited. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Can you edit the video?
Starting point is 00:06:06 Like a, like a well edited video. Like I'm thinking like music. Yeah. Put some music in there. Um, maybe, maybe some voices. Maybe, maybe some voices up to you. Um, and just like, just like make it sweet. And I think something that's like an, I don't know, MP4 probably.
Starting point is 00:06:23 Yeah. That I can upload later. There we go. An MP4. Yeah. That would be ideal later. There we go. An MP4. Yeah. That would be ideal. I think that's smart. Dot MOV would also work.
Starting point is 00:06:29 So whatever you think. Yeah, we'd like a cool video. We do not want Windows Media Player though. WMA. Is that what it is? That's waste management. Sometimes I try to download things on the internet, like a image, and it downloads as a webpage.
Starting point is 00:06:43 Has that ever happened to you? Annoying. Yeah. How come? Like, like how important is this image is that you really want to protect it that bad. Is that what's happening?
Starting point is 00:06:51 You're protecting it. I think so. That's my guess is like, they're trying to like, yeah, they don't want you to use it. Yeah. So,
Starting point is 00:06:56 so yeah, downloads as a webpage and I'm like, who do you think you are? Yeah. Give me a break. Get off your high horse. Or what if they download it as like a gif? That's also kind of annoying.
Starting point is 00:07:05 That doesn't happen to me. It just happened to me. I'm making a shirt right now that's going to be up on Ghostrunners.life by the time this episode's out. It's a good one, you guys. Should I say it or should you just check it out? Mystery. It's from a very recent.
Starting point is 00:07:18 I think we should leave a little mystery. Okay. Got to get people to the website. That's right. Funnel in the traffic. That's what's up. That's what's up. That's what's up. So so check it out it's from a recent bit that everyone seemed to enjoy we're making a t-shirt out of it good idea brad thank you um so yeah what's uh you're back
Starting point is 00:07:33 you're back in the homeland i mean we're back we're squeezing in this pod i was in new orleans this morning flew home this afternoon landed went straight to trey's house podcasted picked up lunch on the way over here i took my last bite of the burrito and brad knocked on my door i mean really just back to back to back two pods in one day and uh hopefully my energy doesn't seem low like i'm in a very good mood i'm very excited to be here but my throat is a little scratchy it like hurts when i swallow it's been pretty sore for like yeah ever since the Dallas show. Dallas was like, I spent all day golfing with Joe, catching up with Joe, then there's people backstage, Allen's family, Trey's family, and then I do the show,
Starting point is 00:08:12 and then afterwards, huge meet and greet line, hanging out with Kanaka people, like one of the better days of my life. But, I mean, 12 plus hours of talking, and my voice has not recovered since then, and then I had another kind of similar situation in Birmingham this week, which we'll talk about. I'm just saying a very full day, very full day of talking. So voice is hurting. It doesn't feel good to talk, but it feels good to be here.
Starting point is 00:08:32 Well, the good news is that you don't use your voice at all to make money. That's the thing. If I can just get through today, then I'm good. Yeah. I have so much time to just, yeah, chill. Yeah. Everyone was actually kind of worried about me. They didn't see me all day yesterday. I didn't tell them why I was kind of isolating. I don't know. I just didn't feel like they would care.
Starting point is 00:08:49 But I just kind of did my own thing all day yesterday. And people were like worried. I was like, I just didn't want to talk. Yeah, because I don't want I just need to rest my voice. But you don't think you're sick necessarily. You think your voice is hurting or do you think you're. I feel great. I don't think I'm sick.
Starting point is 00:09:03 Yeah, I feel fine. But because that's the other fun thing about like this day and age like if if you have any kind of sickness like and you're in within like close quarters where there are people they love to hang out with you so yeah like they're not worried about keep hanging out with us yeah yeah no sleep right next to me no it's fine i saw that you had a dvd player in one of your bunks yeah yeah and like you jokingly were like oh man man, like the one time, the one time I didn't bring my DVD collection, but like, yeah. So Jake, like in one of his tour bus, his tour bus this past time, he literally like
Starting point is 00:09:34 had like this flip down DVD player kind of thing. And you joked about it. I was like, that looks awesome. I would just because it's there, I would definitely go out to Redbox or something and get, you know, Hancock on DVD. I looked, I saw your story. I looked for Redboxes. We were never like parked nearby. I have to walk everywhere.
Starting point is 00:09:52 Right. So not a lot of Redboxes in downtown areas. Yeah, that's true. I guess. Yeah. Do you never like go to like a little bit farther out, like secluded? You're usually like right in the. We're always downtown.
Starting point is 00:10:03 That's so interesting to just like sleep in a big old like it's like a busy street huge target like like like not like a department store but like a literally like a target of like hey there's some rich famous people in here like check it out you know so we were literally talking last night i had almost convinced katie to i really like this idea i think they thought i was joking i guess i was joking but i was like uh i want because katie was like we should i'm gonna we have the same bus next week she's like i should amazon some dvds and i was like yes do they all have dvd things we all have uh dvds in our box oh that's fun she suggested harry potter so that way we can each watch one and i said no seven copies of holes that's what i was gonna say get the yeah everyone get the same
Starting point is 00:10:43 copy we open our thing and i say three two one and you press play that sounds like a blast seven copies i don't care if it's the worst movie in the world it'd be so fun we're all snuggled up in our bike watching the same movie individually oh my gosh i would be so into that and they're like oh mine skipped everyone pause i mean black friday's coming up like you could go get like dvd bin one dollar yeah major league two or something like that. But but yeah, the shows were good. I know you was. Let's see.
Starting point is 00:11:10 You had Birmingham. No, no. Let me go in order. We got seven shows, five cities. Orlando. Before that. Oh, I'm so sorry. I mean, Giselle, there's your Tampa Bay.
Starting point is 00:11:21 Yes. Tampa Bay. Orlando. Birmingham. Urban Meyer. Jacksonsonville there it is birmingham there it is nolens nolens okay yeah where'd you go where'd you do two shows orlando and jacksonville okay so those are back to back um or jacksonville seemed like the ghosties were a plenty yes good call yeah i got so many gifts like physical gifts from ghost fans gifts i know i downloaded as an image for me pngs only a ton of ghost owners fans in jacksonville and birmingham and a lot of gifts in
Starting point is 00:11:55 both um i got some really cool gifts in birmingham i can't i couldn't bring them home with me though because we flew home they're so big that i couldn't fit them but with me, though, because we flew home. They were so big that I couldn't fit them. But because we have the same bus, I left the big gifts on the bus, and I'm going to pack a bigger suitcase next week just so I can take it home. I love it. Are they saying anything? Is Trey like, what's going on with all these people giving you gifts? Oh, people are shocked.
Starting point is 00:12:21 Yeah, I love it. I think it's so fun. Yeah, it really is. It's so cool. It's like, wow. Especially because by the time I get to the lobby, sometimes there's already like a line formed of Ghost Hunters fans like knowing I'm coming. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:12:31 And you could tell there's other people being like, what is happening? Like this woman has a shirt, like a custom made shirt that says, like that was the thing with Birmingham too. Several Jake Triplett shirts, but they made themselves. Like cropped out a photo of me,
Starting point is 00:12:43 a picture you took of me. Yes. Did you see that? It was me, spice. Yes. Yes. Yes that brandy I did I forget her name, but she asked me for like a bunch of pictures of you like She's like I just want like an embarrassing picture of Jake and I tried to find some I didn't find any embarrassing ones But I found like ones that were somewhat like private to our Facebook or something and send it to her of like you Five years ago and I was like those are like you five years ago. And I was like, those are funny because they're old. Did you send her the Old Spice one? No. Okay. I don't think these people are Ghostrunners fans. No, she was. Okay. Well, no, I think there is, this must
Starting point is 00:13:13 be a different person. The Old Spice people, I think just went to my Instagram and did that. The one where you have like the, the sign in the middle of you or something. No, this is what I'm saying. So this is a different one. This is your different people. Multiple people put random pictures of you on t-shirts yeah the same night in birmingham so these two girls who were like correct opinions fans found an old picture of me that you took of me like in your yard where you're like spraying the aerosol stuff or something this is me like in my jorts like with old spice between my legs that was a good time so they made two t-shirts there and then there was a woman also that night i asked her her name like three times and i katie maybe maybe but she made like a custom sweater of me of me holding like a letter board uh yes
Starting point is 00:13:51 that was what i was and it was awesome yeah it was awesome she was the one who yeah she brought me a gift i mean it was like overwhelming i've been told i was like my heart rate is pretty high right now this is crazy this is a lot at once in the best way possible that's so cool man it's so yeah it is very very strange it is very cool and strange in the best way of course it's just awesome it's so fun so it's great to meet you guys i uh yeah it's kind of like what you were saying like all these people like what's going on they don't even know about your podcast like i for the first time ever promoted our podcast to somebody, uh, I think I'm sure I've done it before, but like, it doesn't sound like you, I I'm just never shamelessly plugging in, never shamelessly plugging my woodworking business, especially this time or other
Starting point is 00:14:33 people's lumber company or a friend lumber company. Uh, no. Uh, but somebody yesterday, I was at Aldi and I was going through the aisles and this woman goes, Hey, just let you know, I'm a huge jean shorts fan. My goodness. You're on a roll. At Aldi. No less, you know? And I'm like, I'm like kind of scrub it. Like I got like my slides on with my socks.
Starting point is 00:14:52 Like I don't look great, but I was just like, thank you so much. She's like, she's like my kids. Like they get so excited. They message me like every single time a new video drops. I think that's what people say. Like they drop. Right. And I was like, yeah, awesome.
Starting point is 00:15:08 That's so cool. And I was like, well, if you like that, you should listen to our podcast. Like, yeah think that's what people say like they drop right and i was like yeah awesome that's so cool and i was like well if you like that you should listen to our podcast like yeah that's fun i think you would really enjoy it or something and she's listening now yeah shout out to sarah fagan oh fagan fagan she's fagan awesome um so no it was really like and it just made me i I, I am. So, so Trey, we kind of give Trey a hard time because Trey like orders everything to be delivered to his house. Like he doesn't leave his home. Yeah. And if I'm getting recognized as much as I do, I don't mind it, but I can imagine like Trey would not love it.
Starting point is 00:15:38 And I understand why he would deliver things to his house. If he gets, if, if, if I have, you know, 20,000 people watching my videos every week or whatever, 50,000 people, probably 5,000 of those are in Kansas city and I'm getting recognized once a week. Trey's going to get recognized every time it goes anywhere. Yeah. But it's awesome. I think it is. Do you think he, but maybe he doesn't, I don't know. I love it. We have slightly different personalities than Trey. I think we were naturally more. Yeah. Extroverted and outgoing.
Starting point is 00:16:06 So like I talked to this woman for like 20 minutes. Yeah. I texted Catherine like, sorry, it took me so long at all. The I was talking to a jean shorts fan. Oh, yeah. I even got it. This is actually nice. An usher in Birmingham complimented me.
Starting point is 00:16:19 He said, I've never seen a performer talk to their fans as much as you did tonight. Really? Yeah. And I was like, oh, thank you. I mean, I don't think much. I just genuinely like this is how they deserve to be treated. I just want to talk to their fans as much as you did tonight really yeah and i was like oh thank you i mean i don't think much i just genuinely like i this is how they deserve to be treated i just want to talk to them as humans like hey thanks for coming you want to get a pic all right cool cool thank you guys yeah i'm sure you guys been waiting to meet me this whole time you know
Starting point is 00:16:36 whatever yeah that's so true that's awesome man so okay so i think we just treat it differently probably it's just awesome oh yeah and if i ever don't treat you really nicely, just smack me in the face or something and say, hey, treat me nicely. I don't know. I hopefully I'm always very kind to people. But that was a pretty cool thing. I posted on my story. So kind of spoiled, spoiled the surprise.
Starting point is 00:16:58 But oh, my gosh, I was playing golf in Birmingham, which let me back up. That was already super cool. Joe from last week, you know? Yeah. Maga Joe. No, I shouldn't call him that. Just he played golf with Donald Trump, whatever. He he hooked me up with like some other just amazing golf. It was like an hour outside of Birmingham. Wait, wait, can we call him Mara Lajo? Is that cool? That hurt my throat to laugh like that that was good okay mar-a-la-jo mar-a-la-jo oh that's funny um okay he hooked up with uh who did mar-a-la-jo mar-a-la-jo um with some golf it was like an hour outside of birmingham on this family's farm he's like best friends with like the kids uh you know
Starting point is 00:17:39 they're like our age now but the golf course is on somebody's farm yeah so it's like it's called purcell farms and um it's also i'd even heard about I know nothing about the golf industry and I'd heard people say like that's like a destination like just like the vibe but you know you're secluded it's exclusive probably right yeah it's just like it's an experience because you have to drive out there you're it's on like 3,500 acres there's lakes ponds there's a shooting range you know they just take care of you like the pro shop feels like just like a your grandma's house or something yeah yeah ben breakfast is good that's cool um you get like blueberry cobbler with your you know tea time or something complimentary we have range balls and cobbler for you thank you for coming that'd be a nice touch yeah so it was great and we got to play
Starting point is 00:18:18 golf with um parker purcell like the guy who grew up there the sun yeah the sun probably gonna take it over someday. That's cool. Also, do you know Jacob Carley from Kanakuk? I know the name. K1 guy, K-West guy eventually. He responded to my story. He's like, dude, they were my co-s, my first summer at Kanakuk.
Starting point is 00:18:33 Really? I was like, that's so awesome. Oh, cool. So already just like an amazing day of golf. It was just me, Alan, and Parker, and so fun. And the course was getting a little backed up, so there's only three of us, and there's a twosome behind us.
Starting point is 00:18:44 And so, I mean, like the second hole, we hole we're like hey do you guys want to play with us and they were like no thanks you guys go ahead you just do your thing we're doing our things like okay probably like four or five holes later like all right it's getting pretty backed up now we'll go ahead and play with you guys we play another three or four holes with them uh they're along with us and uh it's like hole 10 i just made a birdie which is fun nice and what do you know but the the girl who just decided to play with us for the last few holes goes i gotta say you're uh you're jake triplet right and i was so just taken aback because we just spent i mean 45 minutes together i was like yes yes i am thank you for waiting until the birdie putt went in right and uh she was like
Starting point is 00:19:22 yeah i uh i actually listened to ghostrunners i'm a huge fan i was like no way no way i mean the odds right i mean we are so far i don't have cell phone service i mean we are in the middle of nowhere and the group behind us knows who i am not from trey not like are you have you been in some trey videos it was like maybe you look familiar i know exactly who you are to listen to the podcast so shout shout out Aaron. That was crazy. I mean, just what a coinkydink. And I was speaking of like, what made me think of this is you're like, if I'm ever not nice to you, slap me in the face.
Starting point is 00:19:52 Yeah. I was glad that before that, not that I'm ever not necessarily myself, but I had been like a very, you know, I'm like, I've been cracking jokes with them. They were like in shorts and it was getting pretty chilly. So I kept giving a hard time about the shorts weather. And anytime they'd miss a pot, I'm like, well,
Starting point is 00:20:05 you know, if you had pants on, I think you make that. This is not your fault. This is the, this is the shorts fault. Yeah. It's,
Starting point is 00:20:09 it's a, it's a mental game at this point. Cause you're freezing cold. Yeah. I don't blame if I was in shorts, I would miss it, you know, whatever.
Starting point is 00:20:14 So I already felt like we'd built rapport. And then to find out like, Oh, she knows exactly what, you know, this is so fun. Um, dude,
Starting point is 00:20:20 that's nuts. And then Parker, we got back to the golf cart. He's like that pretty often. And I was like, it happens about as often as me making a birdie so once every few months let's just put this way parker i've never been to this golf course and this has never happened yeah that's awesome so that was that was really fun it's just that was just a great day good times golfing um
Starting point is 00:20:38 mar-a-la-joe mar-a-la-la-joe if you're listening thank you hooked it up dude good times he's gonna continue to just be like hey where are you at this week? Let me. Maybe I probably should. It's one of those things like I'm not that you're more the type to like, yeah, Joe, what's up? Yeah, I'm the type to like jokingly say it. But like at the same time, like I really hope he does hook it up, though, you know.
Starting point is 00:20:59 But Joe seems like the type like he would be very like he'd be upset if I didn't. He'd be like, why are you still golfing without letting me know? Yeah, I think he's that kind of friend. So it's amazing. Like, even when people say like, Hey man, seriously, like, tell me when you're X, Y, Z, I'll be upset if you don't people still like, don't listen to that. Yeah. You know what I mean? Like I'll, I'll do that all the time. I'll be like, if you're in Kansas city, let me know. I'd love to have you stay with me or, you know, whatever. And people are like, I just don't want to put you out. Like I'm married. I have two kids now. I'm like, stop. Like,
Starting point is 00:21:28 like I'm asking, like, I want you to, unless you just don't want to hang out with me, you know, unless you don't want Joe to help you. Like I want Joe. Yeah. Yeah. So, um, that's fun. Yeah. That's kind of a fun story. So any, any other highlights from the week? Yes. Let me go through my notes notes i don't know if i told you this i've been keeping a little journal not for the podcast but just for me just like what makes every show special so that's fun um clear water which is outside of tampa yeah there's a guy in the front row who i think i outed as a mobster i mean just every answer he gave first of all his name was ricardo so like kind of italian name right maybe cuban i don't know but um like what
Starting point is 00:22:04 do you do he says i you know i'm retired or whatever like that and i was like uh what you used to do he said insurance none of your business yeah i said what kind he said life insurance i was like this guy has done some stuff uh everyone's laughing around him and he's just staring at you please please shut up son yeah yeah um so that was fun ricardo ricardo okay orlando uh talked to a guy named ari which this isn't even that good of a joke but it just came to me in the moment and people laughed i was like i was like what's your name ari oh nice i'm a pisces it just came out like instantly almost like it doesn't even really make sense but no that's funny it was kind of funny yeah i liked
Starting point is 00:22:42 that i said it even though it doesn't totally make sense but um oh and then he i asked him what he did for a living he said real estate and so i was like oh i said something on the podcast i said something on the just jake episode that brad and knack max were like dude that's funny you should say that on a stage and so i start saying it i'm like what is the punch line oh wow i couldn't remember it so i'm like oh real estate that's funny it's like i'm trying to buy a house right now and it is impossible the market right now is crazy you know buying a house is like and then i'm like yeah i'm like oh god i haven't found it yet please find it please find it it's somewhere in there buying a house is like buying a house is like going for groceries uh yeah going to the petting zoo tying your shoe good blowing your nose uh shopping for sweaters uh going to the eye doctor uh getting cold lunch uh
Starting point is 00:23:29 learning long division uh just up there a little too long thinking yeah no you're saying all this out loud i think yeah yeah uh yeah i i think i stumbled a little bit in the setup but i remembered the punch line which is like and then falling in love with someone and then realizing that she ended up with someone's dad who paid in cash and it got a laugh so I was like thank goodness that would have been a rough 30 seconds yeah have you ever even like
Starting point is 00:23:56 like preliminary like when you were first starting out doing comedy have you ever been like like halfway through a joke like about to say something you're like never mind no you guys get it i've never thrown in the white flag like that i hope i never do you know what never mind i would laugh so hard if i ever watched you do that never mind you know what yeah you get it greg roommate greg walked in my room my bad sorry for
Starting point is 00:24:24 wasting your time um so it was cool to get to try that out and know that it works and yeah if it happens again i'll be a little more confident orlando show number two this was a show i legitimately i think i could have stopped 45 seconds in and just had a great set it was such a hot start really his name was mike he worked in marketing i was like oh he's just called my kidding simple i mean that was dumb but it was Mike. He worked in marketing. I was like, Oh, it's just called Mike getting simple. I mean, that was dumb, but it was just, you know, we're building up, building up. Um, I was like, what's your favorite kind of marketing? He said, research. I was like, that got boring fast, you know, whatever. It's just kind of making fun of them where it's just a couple more jokes, a couple more jokes. And then, um, you know, of course I'm like, he must be a huge Trey Kennedy fan.
Starting point is 00:24:59 He says, I've never heard of the guy. I'm like, Oh, I must've not done your research. Like I just already had a callback. Like it it was like a such a tight 45 seconds of like probably six jokes in there they were all improvised i was like should i leave should i just quit now like that's one of the better queens i've ever heard like yeah that was so impressive or what if you what if you just leave for like 30 seconds no seriously like like a lot of you're like alan comes out plays just like a little jingle he plays like the nationwide out, plays just like a little jingle. He plays like the nationwide jingle. I actually really liked this idea. Like you get introduced like five different times because, because, and once again, because
Starting point is 00:25:33 like the funniest parts often of like TV shows and stuff are like the cold opens. Yeah. Because there's like that quick exit kind of thing. Like every time I come out, it's like, it's my first time. Hey Orlando, let's see. Oh, we got a couple of fellas in the front row. You sir. What's your, you know? And then, and then that's funny after the fourth time i come out it's like it's my first time hey orlando let's see oh we got a couple of fellas in the front row you sir what's your you know and then that's funny after the fourth time you're doing it like you know like doing like like making the same quick joke like at the very beginning or something i like that someday you know lord willing if i ever
Starting point is 00:25:56 get to headline a show i love the idea of coming out five times if you have your own say like yeah if it's like up to me oh i think that'd that'd be so funny. That's a fun idea. Like just like chapters basically. Or like, yeah, maybe even you change characters like within every two minutes or something or, you know, whatever. That's what's so fun about just like having a stage and an hour or whatever. Like you can, I mean,
Starting point is 00:26:18 it doesn't have to be anything specific. It is just make them laugh. Anything goes, any lights, any sound, any cues, just like any interaction, like it is up to you laugh yeah anything goes any lights any sound any cue is just like any interaction like it is up to you i'm really loving this yes act by acting like because because i'm sure like within comedy sets obviously there's like themes for five minutes at a time you know whatever like trey does that like he talks about his marriage and that kind of stuff for a while and then he goes on to dog moms or something like that you know i think it'd be so funny if like between every single set like you just leave i don't know why just
Starting point is 00:26:50 compartmentalize an hour into like six segments yeah because that's kind of what you do anyway yeah mentally that feels that way you just take a drink of water instead of taking a drink of water let's have what we just do it for real uh wow we just discovered something i think we just we got to go on the road we just figure out comedy i think we cracked the code i think we did it man oh so um anyway that was that was my kidding that was fun my kidding is great it was just an easy just a quick little layup to start you know when you go to the gym you start off with layups yeah make a few layups build some confidence yeah you get your confidence in um jacksonville first show i picked on a guy who is he was sitting all by himself but i saw he had a purse next to him so like okay I'm not gonna just kind of make fun of this guy for being here by
Starting point is 00:27:27 himself unless that's his purse unless that's his purse yeah it seems like Kevin it's Kathleen but it was just like I was like who you're with and he's like she's in the bathroom and so then I just you know railed him for that I was like I've said that one a few times before I've been out to dinner a few times I give her the old she's in the bathroom yeah i get it kevin so that was really fun i feel like the crowd was on my side for that um i did the joke so i do a joke almost every night that's the same way it lands regardless of where i'm at for the most part um where i say like second thing you need to know about me is i've actually never been to insert city name before and unless i'm in like dallas or houston or chicago that's, that's pretty funny. Cause it's like, yeah, why would you want to come here? Like,
Starting point is 00:28:08 especially when we were in smaller city, you know, Bridgeport, Connecticut. Sure. That joke was great. Yeah. Um, and I, I elaborate on that. So I've switched it up a little bit. If I'm in bigger cities, I'm like, I'm not going to do that. But I was like, Jacksonville will be perfect. I think that's the right city where it's like, no one ever like wants to be in Kansas city of Florida. Like no one's like going there for a vacation. maybe they are my best friend from high school lives in jacksonville and i mean he was just like i've been i was like are you thinking you might leave jacksonville so he's like i want to but i've been saying that for six years and i haven't yet like he doesn't want to let he loves his life and he doesn't want to be there really anyway so i said that first show
Starting point is 00:28:41 jacksonville said um second thing you know about me it's actually my first time in jacksonville and I hadn't even got to the jokes yet that's all I said there were some people who cheered and some people who just started booing me which I've never had to have before it threw me off so much you suck yeah just legitimately leave us like break play photos did just booing me I was like I jerk yeah I was a little speechless how could you not come here they used to have such a chip on their shoulder that they're like come on you've probably been to destined before haven't you i bet you have seaside looking yeah watercolor i'm gonna get rico over here with his life insurance so i kind of doubled down on it because i i part of me was like, look, I'm sorry.
Starting point is 00:29:25 I generally just I'm happy to be here, you know, but then I was like, well, I was like, do you guys think a lot of people want to come here? People don't want to come here. And that thankfully worked out for me or else I could have turned on me. But you should just double down and be like, I'm from Kansas. Like, yeah, that would be good. Yeah. You can't really like get it.
Starting point is 00:29:43 Yeah. Like, don't act like like i'm not i'm not acting like i'm better than you here yeah i'm from kansas you know midwest um oh here's another thing twice this week i performed in wet clothing this is a new one let's let's guess where it's wet guess where it's wet guess where it's wet that's the title of this episode all right sure guess where it's wet. That's the title of this episode. All right. Guess where it's wet.
Starting point is 00:30:06 Okay. So Tampa shows. Yeah. There's a very specific part of me that was wet. Okay. I'm going to stare at you and then figure out my stare you in the eyes and then imagine where it was wet. Your pit.
Starting point is 00:30:23 No. Okay. Your B button. your pit no okay your um b button no no that was dry your um the right knee kneecap that was the knee pit uh kneecap kneecap knee, go back kneecap. Shit. It was basically just my pants. I had wet pants. How? Why? I made a little boo-boo. You know, I'm not home very often, so I tried to do all my laundry.
Starting point is 00:30:52 Ooh, didn't get them dry? Well, here's the issue. I got some nice new jogs that I like. Two pairs that I really enjoy. Good. I'm reading the instructions, make it dry, take care of these, because they fit perfect. I don't want to screw this up. They say, you know, you can wash in cold, yada, yada to dry, lay flat to dry, no tumble dry. Really? All right.
Starting point is 00:31:09 Lay flat to dry. Okay. Um, I check on them. It's like 10 PM at night. I check on them after like an hour or two. These babies, I feel like they've got more wet somehow. These are wetter than they were when they pulled them out of the wash. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And so I'm like, well, that's not good. I can already tell this is not going to get dry. And so what i do is i go hang them up in the garage and open the garage doors overnight like that'll get some ventilation okay that seems like a way to dry them out without like yeah that was truly the best thing i could think of in the moment and still they were very damp in the morning when i went to pack oh so i was like well i'll just pack them in my suitcase and hope for the best and obviously that didn't dry them off and so i they're just moist they're not like that's almost worse yeah so they're just like lightly wet both pairs so like
Starting point is 00:31:49 both of my options so that smell no not too bad okay yeah um so that one was my fault and then in jacksonville uh it was also my fault uh went a little heavy on the wrinkle releaser and uh didn't realize it was 6 45 the show's about to start a little heavy on the wrinkle releaser and uh didn't realize it was 6 45 the show's about to start a little heavy on the wrinkle releaser you get it oh so that one was shirt and pants like legitimately my shirt was like pretty damp on stage that one felt that's so uncomfortable that one was actually embarrassing like they're like do do these people think that i yeah just uh yeah i had a shower real quick with my clothes on yeah luckily it was like a pretty even spray you know so like it wasn't like there were parts that were
Starting point is 00:32:30 wetter so maybe it's like maybe that's the style in kansas it's kind of like a weathered yeah like a wet shirt it's called weathered it's like a heathered wet look yeah oh my gosh that's so performed in wet clothing twice this week okay it's Which is fun. I could be wrong about this, but I think that Kansas is like, has like high humidity all the time. Okay. Like in the summer, obviously the humidity is like palpable, but I think in the winter it's also humid. And so it probably didn't dry very well, even though you think, you think like in the winter,
Starting point is 00:33:01 there's not much. I think I'm not positive on any of this, but you're, you're definitely more of the meteorologist than I am. It sounds right. Doesn't it? Sounds like a fun factoid. Yeah. Sounds really cool.
Starting point is 00:33:11 So that's pretty funny. So this was where Jacksonville? That was Jacksonville. Yeah. First show pants were wet or dry out. Yeah. Yeah. We were fine.
Starting point is 00:33:20 I just kind of walked around a lot, walked around outside in between shows, kind of cooled off. You're like, you're like, you're like, yeah, you're like, you're like going high knees, like during your set. Oh, that was the other thing. Where was it? Two shows in a row. I think it was Birmingham and Jacksonville.
Starting point is 00:33:34 The venue was so cold. I couldn't get warm. I would like leave a hoodie on as long as possible and then change at the last second. Wow. But then it would get so cold. Alan actually took videos of me. I was like doing pushups, not to get myself psyched up but just truly to warm up so i cranked out a lot of push-ups this weekend which is good that's interesting i don't i don't i can't imagine
Starting point is 00:33:53 like ever being about to perform and feeling cold because i think that would just always be a little hyped up and not dude you weren't in vermate no i'm sure yeah this theater is like 100 years old and that was the one that looked super cool. It looks super cool. Yeah. It was awesome. Birmingham was just a great day. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:34:09 But yeah, it was just a little chilly. The all new fan dual sports book and casino is bringing you more action than ever. Want more ways to follow your faves. After decades of shaky hands caused by debilitating tremors, Sunnybrook was the only hospital in Canada who could provide Andy with something special. Three neurosurgeons, two scientists, one movement disorders coordinator, 58 answered questions, two focused ultrasound procedures,
Starting point is 00:36:22 one specially developed helmet, thousands of high-intensity focused ultrasound waves one specially developed helmet thousands of high intensity focused ultrasound waves zero incisions and that very same day two steady hands from innovation to action sunnybrook is special learn more at sunnybrook.ca special i had a couple like uh interruptions while performing this weekend um not necessarily hecklers i think just like drunk people who just felt the liberty to just interrupt or whatever um one was one of the i'm pretty sure it was one of the women who made a custom shirt this is the old spice one um not the ghost runners fan how do they get drunk you're up there 17 minutes after the show starts oh i think they just pre-game like crazy really and then they get there early and then they get drinks there at the show.
Starting point is 00:37:05 That's crazy. I mean, you saw my story. I mean, Casey, he sat behind a woman who fell asleep while Trey was performing. Oh my gosh, I forgot about this. That was awesome. That was really awesome. She was literally passed out. Yeah, that was crazy.
Starting point is 00:37:18 Like dribbling seltzer on her. How would you feel if you looked out in the stage? I don't care if it's because they're drunk or just because they're tired or whatever you see somebody asleep not good not good like i i don't yeah i don't think that's something i can mentally overcome i would i would be thinking about that person the entire time yeah but she i mean i'm probably like five minutes in maybe even less than that and she stands up and yells at me whereas like i feel like i have to address that yeah stood up and just like screamed at me i couldn't tell what she said like i didn't know what it was about i just looked at her and like
Starting point is 00:37:56 i completely stop what i'm doing like she has all my attention she just goes hey i just kind of pause for a few seconds and i go hey and uh And, uh, I was like, I'm doing a comedy show right now, so we can talk afterwards if you want to. And that was fine. And then a guy at Jacksonville just yelled waffle house at me a couple of times. Okay. I don't know what that means. I'm trying to imagine what I, how I respond to that.
Starting point is 00:38:19 I'll, I'll hear how you respond, but let me, let me, so I'm telling the joke. So anyway, so that's jock jams for you. Um, and, uh, waffle house. Ooh, I don't know what I would do. I think I'll just say more of an IHOP guy myself, but maybe it's cause I'm from the suburbs. Is that good? Oh, a waffle house. Okay. Um, did, was your dad a trucker or did your mom just not like you very much? I don't know. You try to bury him. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:38:51 I like that. Yeah, just be a jerk back to him. I don't know. No, that's funny. What did you do to Waffle House guy? Typically, if I ever get any kind of like, you know, people yelling at me, what I've heard from other comedians is like, your job as the opener is to like shut that down so that there's like a level of respect for the headliner sure and so really what i'm trying to do is just like diffuse the situation like not let's not start a back and
Starting point is 00:39:14 forth here to try to like let them know so i think i paused once again because i was truly trying to figure out like does this have anything to do with what i'm talking about or yeah jacksonville and it i mean nothing was coming to mind people after the show were like why do you yell waffle house i'm like i thought you would know um so i think i understand what like did you say waffle house and he's like yeah i was like all right um look if you want to yell restaurants at each other we can do that in the lobby afterwards that sounds like a good time but yeah right now i'm performing so why don't we just wait you know so it wasn't that funny but i just needed to like address it in the moment. Oh, yeah. I hate that.
Starting point is 00:39:46 It was fun. Got in the front row this time. Healthcare recruiter. What's your favorite thing to recruit? Nurses. Of course. Sitting right next to his wife of 16 years. Just immediately said nurses.
Starting point is 00:39:57 Nurses. It was really funny. And I gave him a really hard time about that. But he like, he's like, yeah, nurses. Yeah, it's fun to recruit. Yeah. Okay. They have huge hearts. Big, bouncy. that but he like he like double he's like yeah nurses yeah it's fun to recruit yeah okay they
Starting point is 00:40:05 have huge hearts big bouncy i mean just beautiful hearts yeah you see their atriums another right word ventricles and atriums yeah good you're the meteorologist i'm the heart guy okay um anyway that's probably all i need to say my throat hurts brad how was your week my week was good let me tell you a few different things and you can just sit there and talk listen to me okay um first thing i did that i think is uh newsworthy um i don't remember what day it was i'll say it was tuesday because i don't know let's say uh i watched part of a live birth on Instagram. Is this the one Chrissy Swick put on her story?
Starting point is 00:40:48 That's how I found it, Jake. I saw that she put that on her story and I was like, I'm about to hang out with this woman in about 10 days. I don't know. I don't know if you should anymore. That's what I was wondering. That's all I'm going to say. So, so yeah, there's this girl.
Starting point is 00:41:02 I don't know her name. I honestly didn't watch her. Let's name i i honestly let's call her tuesday let's call her tuesday so man did i see all of tuesday i'm just kidding um morning man did i recruit a lot of tuesdays afternoon and dusk oh no no uh yeah so kirsty posted like i know what i'm doing the rest of my day why did you click on this because i'm very curious i i i've seen i've seen births before and i was like i i like childbirth i think it's interesting okay and so i'm like and also i'm like this woman is literally gonna like like film her whole birth hope it goes well and so i click on it and like imagine with me you're at the doctor's you're at the hospital and you accidentally walk
Starting point is 00:41:46 into somebody's room that you're just not supposed to be in. And you're just like, Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry. I'm here. Uh, I hope it goes well for you. And you turn off the light and you shut the door and you run as far as you can. Good luck Tuesday. That's exactly what I felt. I was there for 10 seconds. I was like, I don't, I don't like anything about this. She was, she was like, so, so like, if you know, if you know much about like a childbirth for real, it's not, it's not like it is in the movies where, well, I don't know. It depends on what movie you're watching. Uh, but it's not like a quick thing. Like it takes a long time. So like this woman wasn't even close to like pushing the baby out at this point. She was like going through labor. She was laboring. How many viewers did she have? Like, is this a woman with a following or she has a following? And I think
Starting point is 00:42:28 she's gotten a lot more of a following in anticipation of this. Cool. But I think like 30,000, 40,000 people were watching. Yeah. I could be wrong about that, but it's something along those lines. That was a big room that you walked into. And let me tell you, this is the worst part, Jake, is that when you get in that room, your friends or people that follow you, it says Ellis custom creations is watching this with you. So Kirstie was like, Oh Brad, welcome. So Kirstie and I didn't talk about till later. Uh, but simply fit page also in there was like, yeah, I saw you were also watching it.
Starting point is 00:42:59 What'd you think? And I was like, I thought I wanted to get out of there. I walked into the wrong room, but thank you for sponsoring the pod in December. It was so weird, dude. It was just like she was just having minor contractions and stuff. So she's just literally standing there in front of this camera like, and I'm like, well, I got to get out of here. I don't want anybody else to think I'm in here for weird perverted reasons or anything. I'm out. I'm like, well, I gotta get out of here. I don't want anybody else to think I'm in here for
Starting point is 00:43:25 like weird perverted reasons or anything. Like I'm out, I'm out. But then, um, I was still curious about it. And like, I bet 12 hours had gone by it. If not more like this was at the beginning of the day, the morning when I saw this originally. And then I noticed that she's still live, like way later. That's a lot of phone battery. And I'm like, what's going on here? Let's check back in. And so I got on there for five seconds. You boomeranged. And I don't, I didn't, I saw a tub. I didn't see anybody in the tub. I didn't see any people. Oh, but I just said, I don't want to, I don't want to know anything. You didn't even look through the chat. I saw simply fit page was in there and I thought, I don't want her to think anything of me. So I got out of there. I got, I got i just said that's that's wild uh that's wild you left a
Starting point is 00:44:09 little comment in the chat this is wild this is wild see you guys praying for you but not really because i don't know you good luck tuesday no but this woman yeah she had her baby and she you can watch the replay if you want to jake okay um it was just yeah i talked to katherine about later i was like katherine what would it take for you to do your birth on patreon for us and it'd be no no listen i don't want this is a good idea i have a good idea for patreon katherine and i have a live birth live stream on patreon and in another room while watching you commentate the whole thing how many freaking views would we get how many subscriptions i would need like a check up front i'm not just doing this like for the people already paying us money yeah we make thousands of dollars off patreon
Starting point is 00:44:59 we can make millions jake millions i would do it for millions oh but it depends on my viewpoint though what do i see so i will say i watched the replay later you don't see anything from like you see her backside but i'm talking about katherine's birth what's what i'm saying what's my launch point i think head only okay all right yeah i'll do that you know crown um yeah who's that yeah wait wait define head yeah yeah um no it's it's just uh i don't know i don't have much else to say besides just like a that was just weird that i did that and that i got caught kind of in a weird way from people and then they like asked me about it later and then b i just knew that you would have just no feelings of desire to do that at all
Starting point is 00:45:45 that's a good way of putting it no feelings of desire yeah um so that happened i wonder what's like right now in my head there's two things that seem terrifying one is having my own children and the other one is watching someone else have their children both are just things i am so uninterested in right now at this point in life really yeah yeah i uh just bringing a kid into this world as a as a man you just feel so bad for the girl you're like i'm this is my i'm sorry i don't know what to tell you except for just you're doing great like you want to hold my hand do you want to like you can squeeze my hand really hard if you want to squeeze my hand if you want i mean that'll that'll make it better right patrick ewing was pretty dominant in the 80s yeah i mean patrick
Starting point is 00:46:23 ewing like you should have seen him like it was a it was a golden age for sinners patrick ewing was pretty dominant in the 80s yeah i mean patrick ewing like you should have seen him like it was a it was a golden age for sinners patrick ewing hakim al-ajwan uh that's it shaquille o'neal you know kareem towards the you know yeah more the beginning kareem battled out with him a little bit robert parish you know had his heyday um so that's that oh my gosh i i just, it's interesting. Um, but yeah, so let's see. Thank you. That was newsworthy.
Starting point is 00:46:49 Yeah. Uh, I got recognized, uh, at Aldi. Um, I also delivered slash had some, uh,
Starting point is 00:46:56 cutting boards picked up by ghosties. So I met some ghosties. So shout out to, uh, Brittany, shout out to Randy. I delivered one to Randy cause she paid for shipping and then she gave me her address. I was like, that's like two miles from my house.
Starting point is 00:47:08 Lady Randy. Lady Randy. How do we spell on it? With an I. From the back end? Yeah. Okay. I think I got it.
Starting point is 00:47:17 But she was awesome. And there was another girl there. And I was like, hey, yeah, nice to meet you. Assuming that they were, uh, roommates and Nope, this room, this girl just had heard from Randy. Hey, Brad Ellis is coming to deliver. It's coming. A cutting board. Do you want to come over? And she's like, yes, I do. That's cool. And so it was fun. I got to talk to them for just a little bit, um, here, here about their lives a little bit. But this girl gave me this it's a it looks like a little boat
Starting point is 00:47:46 um and it says open while recording she said oh wait i saw yes like a million text messages on our instagram about a boat but then i looked at our story there's something about a boat yes it was it was on our story like people people kept replying boat note boat note yeah so they want us to read this boat note okay uh i'm confused i'm gonna read it i think it is intended for jake because it says uss jake which uss i don't know what that stands for united states ship i was hoping for a joke but uh but i'm so sorry it stands for united states ship um i'm so sorry okay so it says carpe dm okay oh wow okay so this is from madison deal i don't know if i should say your name on here but it says on here
Starting point is 00:48:34 want to play mixed doubles we can wear our matching dante hall jersey circa 2003 what are the chances of a guy like you and a girl like me ending up together oh wow and then you check two different boxes one in a hundred or one in a million so you're telling me there's a chance dang and then she doesn't give her phone number but she does give her instagram handle so i'll let you handle that later let me look at this i mean job well done uh madison i mean theumb and Dumber quote, the pickleball, you know, taking interest
Starting point is 00:49:08 in my interest. Yeah. What's that movie where he's like, look, on paper, you've done everything right. What is that where he's like, you've complimented my accessory.
Starting point is 00:49:17 Oh, I know. No, it's a girl saying it to a guy. It's Reese Witherspoon talking to Vince Vaughn. It's the opening scene of Four Christmases. Four Christmases, great movie. Underrated movie.
Starting point is 00:49:23 Great opening scene. Great opening scene. I long to do that with my wife someday. Really? Like, yeah, there's two different types of role play, right? I would like to do the public version like that, where you just become a different, like, I have a different job, a different name, and I just have a different persona. Yeah. Like I'm, I'm Trenton and I work in finance. Kind of dorky. And I try to pick up a woman at a bar who's already my wife. That sounds so fun. Because you win every time. Hope so. That's true.
Starting point is 00:49:49 Like, babe! Don't go with Rico. He only says he sells life insurance. I'm yelling out our safe word. Philadelphia! Whip her will! Whip her will! Woo! Woo! Woo! Anyway, have you ever actually seen a note that, like, for real, that had the check marks?
Starting point is 00:50:08 Did you get those back in the day? Oh, H, yeah. Really? Yeah. I just saw them on TV shows. You never got them? Hmm. I feel like I had my fair share of romances with notes, but I don't think I ever got the
Starting point is 00:50:17 check yesterday. No boxes, huh? No. Uh-uh. This reminds me. We talked to a girl last night at the show. Maybe this is Birmingham. We called her up on stage to sing to her, get to know her.
Starting point is 00:50:27 Like, are you single, married? What's your status? She goes, I'm divorced. Okay, so single then. You know, we're kind of like laughing, but I think the audience kind of feels bad for her. Like, you didn't have to answer that way. She's like, well, I mean, there was always a box, right?
Starting point is 00:50:41 Like when you fill out stuff, like there's always a box for it. So I'm just used to saying divorced. And then I got the microphone. I was like, there wasn't a box right like when you when you fill out stuff like there's always a box for us i'm just used to saying divorced and then i got the microphone i was like there wasn't a box right now you know you didn't have to say that you could have said single yeah um which is pretty funny but um anyway just speaking of boxes um madison deal what's your deal hey what is the deal let's make a deal let's make a deal wayne brady style um this is great how did you get this again she gave it to me whenever i dropped randy's house yeah she was she was randy's roommate that wasn't a roommate top two not two so um open while recording oh this girl wanted some attention and she got it she got it she got it speaking of pieces of paper handed to us by ghosties, we got some stuff. Wow.
Starting point is 00:51:26 We have letters. Yes. We can read. And we have a menu. I'll give you one. I'll take one. This is I believe this is from Natalie, who is in the Ghost Runners Guillotine League. OK. She actually has recently been knocked out of the league, but she came to the.
Starting point is 00:51:42 Hey, it happens to most of us. She came to the show and Jackson to most of us she came to the show and jacksonville she was awesome and her daughter was with us i want to say her name's bella i don't know if that's right what do you think brad uh yeah i think it definitely could be bella napoli let's just say natalie let's go ahead and call her wednesday just in case but um she made us uh menus for just drinks which i haven't really thought about just drinks in a while what are some of your favorites on there, Brad? This is really fun. So they have it in hot drinks and soft drinks.
Starting point is 00:52:08 Already a good way to split it up. Like United States, you know, North and South. Small, medium, large, dark roast, a.k.a. the Henry. Small, medium, large, espresso, a.k.a. Santo Mac. Small, medium, large, hot chocolate,
Starting point is 00:52:22 a.k.a. the Hattie. And then with an asterisk, it says, for whipped cream ask for the bow that's funny that's cute um i've got something on mine that's uh oh are yours different oh really yeah we got different menu items this one's called the alice custom creation but the drink is actually just horchata oh i like it yeah that's nice that's fun uh i got uh the jake which is of course dr, Dr. Pepper. Oh, perfect.
Starting point is 00:52:45 Yeah. It's a good just available in small, medium and large. OK, good. Yeah. And then I got the Big Daddy, which is sweet tea. And the Catherine, which is Sprite. I don't think that's Catherine too much. Maybe, you know, kombucha while pregnant.
Starting point is 00:52:59 Yeah, the Catherine might be like kombucha or a vanilla latte or Dr. Pepper. Or LaCroix. LaCroix. Or Sprite. Sprite with no sugar. How's that? That's LaCroix. No, this is awesome.
Starting point is 00:53:13 Yeah, thank you for the Just Drinks menu. Thank you for coming to the show. And then we also got... So now I can't remember if I said this before the episode or during the episode. I got so many big gifts. Yeah, I'm taking a bigger suitcase next week. I only have the smaller gifts with me right now um this is from lindsey bishop lindsey's a real one she real one she ordered some cutting boards from ellis custom creations
Starting point is 00:53:33 before it was cool um yeah she's been awesome and she lindsey we talked about ordering table i'm just gonna say it uh if you're still interested would love to but i believe she was also at the jacksonville show so many ghosts he's there uh we got a card and a gift card dude that's nuts i got a 50 gift card to any of the four restaurants of my choosing one of them being chili's yeah that'll go jibber jabber uh couldn't afford this in one month of patreon giving right here holy jibber jabber that's wild but a really nice note she said i enjoyed watching your journey over the last couple of years. Such a hard worker and is paid off. Can't wait to see what the future holds for you. Enjoy a couple three for tens on me.
Starting point is 00:54:11 Love and heart. Drawn out heart. Lindsay Bishop. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Thank you so much. And also the card says positive vibes only. Nice touch. You want me to read mine?
Starting point is 00:54:22 You guys are so nice. Totally your call, dude. Hey, Brad. Happy birthday, Brad. read mine? You guys are so nice. Totally your call, dude. Hey, Brad. Happy birthday, Brad. You are so much funnier than Jake and whoa, whoa, whoa. Hold on. This is going to be your best year yet as you welcome baby number three to the family. Hopefully you can use this for a date
Starting point is 00:54:36 night. Oh, yeah. You know I can, Lindsay. You get some Sprite with Catherine. I did have a date night on my birthday the other day. Was it nice? It was great. We went to Lydia's. You heard of it? Been there?
Starting point is 00:54:49 No, neither. It's very good. It's an Italian restaurant over by Union Station and my gosh, is it nice. That's all I have to say. I mean, it's really not too much more.
Starting point is 00:54:57 Talk about your birthday more. Was it nice? It was so fun. I was jealous that everyone was hanging out with you and I wasn't. Yeah, that was, so yeah, we all hung out.
Starting point is 00:55:02 And the Chiefs, dude. Dude. Dude. Dude. Hey guys, if you were ever doubting was so yeah we all and the chiefs dude dude dude dude oh hey guys if you were ever doubting the chiefs or hating on the chiefs look at us right now how about you look at the freaking afc west standings and see the chiefs at the top baby some of the only two people in what felt like all of kansas city who are optimistic about this team right look at us now we knew we knew i don't know if any of our friends knew but we knew i yeah i think our friends claim they knew but i don't know if they knew they weren't proclaiming
Starting point is 00:55:28 it as boldly as we were no we were like guys we're going to be fine we had a long chat um in our thread the other night with uh about obj like because i really wanted obj i think we all did yeah i was like why not except for scott scott was like i don't know about obj but everyone's like then when we didn't go get obJ, everyone's like, oh, great. This stinks. We didn't get him. I was like, well, you know who we did get? Patrick Mahomes and Andy F. Reid.
Starting point is 00:55:51 Okay. So we're going to be just fine. And then he comes out and throws her 400 yards and five touchdowns. And I had him on my fantasy team. Same. Give me some nuts. Hey, look at us. Look at us.
Starting point is 00:56:00 It's a good night to have Mahomes on your fantasy team. Yeah. So last night we did celebrate my birthday with my friends. Catherine said what do you want for your you know for celebration all I said Dairy Queen ice cream cake oh that's all I wanted and she was like asking me like what I like like what kind like probably just like chocolate everything I was like no no I know exactly what I want I was like you know what I'll just go buy it myself so after I went to Aldi got recognized by Sarah Fagan okay Fagan awesome experience I went to Aldi, got recognized by Sarah Fagan, the Fagan awesome experience, I went to Dairy Queen and got my own ice cream cake. I love it. You know what you want. I did.
Starting point is 00:56:30 And it was great. Um, I had another piece today. It was so nice. Sweet. We have more. If you want to come by, maybe anything that's good on the throat. I think it's great on the throat. I mean, you don't want anything acidic. Ice cream is pretty basic. Yeah. Yeah, sure. I'll be over in a little bit. Um, okay, cool. And, And so, yeah, the actual day, like birthday day, was awesome as well. Catherine also asked me, like, what would you want for breakfast that day? And I said, French toast. And she made French toast from Joanna Gaines' cookbook, Magnolia Cookbook. And my goodness, did it live up to everything that Joanna Gaines epitomizes.
Starting point is 00:57:00 Happy birthday. Yeah, it was awesome. They had me some French toast. We got strawberries on the French toast. That's a nice touch. Yeah, it was birthday yeah it was awesome that'd be some french toast we got strawberries on the french toast that's a nice touch yeah it was just it was wonderful and then like it was it wasn't like a gloomy day but it's a november day so it was like not super like she was like maybe we can go like to the park for a picnic or something i was like honestly i just want to hang out here with you guys and just like yeah chill and hattie and i like hattie was like dad i want to make a checklist or a list of everything
Starting point is 00:57:25 we should do for your birthday and we did and so i think on the checklist there was um play catch dang um this is like what i would want to do on my birthday yeah oh no it was yeah it was like play catch um and i'm trying to remember them all because she had to write them all down she's getting pretty good uh her handwriting uh Play catch, play in the driveway. Hold on. She can like spell and write? No, no, no, no, no, no. I mean, yeah, she knows her letters.
Starting point is 00:57:51 So I tell her what the letters are. Okay, so you say like P-L-A-Y. Yes. Okay. Yeah, and I'm like such like a, I think I'm just a natural, I have natural desires to teach her. And so sometimes I think I probably overstep my bounds of like,
Starting point is 00:58:05 so one of the things that we wrote down overstep my bounds of like, so, so one of the things that we wrote down was van. I was like, I just want to go, I want to go on a ride in the van. Cause we talked about maybe going shopping or something. Um, and I was like,
Starting point is 00:58:13 okay. And she, she did spell that one herself. And I was so proud of her. That's huge. Yeah. She spelled that. And I was like,
Starting point is 00:58:18 that's amazing. So can you spell ran? And she like, I had to sound it out with her. And then I was like wanting her so badly to like connect like that there's a pattern with all these i was like you spell can and she's like every sound every single time she couldn't like grasp but these were all this i was like it's just one letter difference like once you know that once you're the first letter you can do the rest
Starting point is 00:58:38 like you spell man you know um but what else we played out in the driveway? Oh, we did a craft. I, uh, it was fun. Like she drew her name, like she wrote her name on a piece of paper. I took a picture of that piece of paper and I put it into my computer and like into my CNC machine. Yeah. It was really cool. And I like engraved her like signature on an ornament and we gave it to my mom, uh, for Christmas.
Starting point is 00:59:03 That is pretty sweet. It was really cool. Um, and so it was like literally her handwriting handwriting but it was like engraved on there um dude the cnc is just uh just what a great thing to have when it comes to gift giving season it is it is it's just so personalized i mean right like you can just you can put literally like ink logos monograms and it's like nothing's too complicated for it so new studio when it's wood based. Hello. Who knows? I do have some thoughts about, yeah,
Starting point is 00:59:27 ghost runners. We could, we could do, here's a fun idea. Uh, a bunch of like, let's just say square. We don't have 10 by 10.
Starting point is 00:59:35 That's too small. Uh, let's go bigger. 11 by 18 by 18, like square things that have a bunch of our, uh, like CNC'd out logos from our t-shirts that we've made. Ooh, that's kind of fun. You know, like from our t-shirts that we've made. Ooh. That's kind of fun.
Starting point is 00:59:47 You know like so you You're so good at this stuff. Yeah that's a phenomenal idea. Yeah and we could like we could even alternate the types of wood that it has so it's like you know whatever. That'd be pretty fun.
Starting point is 00:59:55 That's a great idea. I'm excited to see the space tomorrow. Like I've seen our new podcast studio once for you know a couple minutes. Right. And in my head I'm like
Starting point is 01:00:03 it's a little tricky spacing wise but I'm excited to like really get in there and figure it out yeah we'll figure it out we can sit on the floor for the first couple weeks if we have to or something or do it i think we can get chairs yeah we'll figure it out um so yeah birthday was overall awesome i felt i i don't even know what like just humbled honestly like um i feel like that's what everyone says so now it sounds cheesy but like like so many ghosties sent me messages of like dude yes it's crazy i mean people that i talked to at the show were
Starting point is 01:00:30 like and tomorrow's brad's birthday i mean before they saw anything on instagram they were aware right when your birthday was which is crazy which i don't like keep it secret by any means i definitely talk about but like but still but the messages that people send me were like so humbling to me of like like they were so me of like, like they were so kind of like, like how much impact I'd had on them. And I'm just like, really? Like, are you sure? Like, it was just, it was just really cool to, to see, I don't know that, that we've, we've somehow made a effect on people that are listening to us every week. They're not even like meeting us face to face or like, you know, they care about our lives. And so, um, that was just a humbling thing to see. And then obviously just getting to spend time with
Starting point is 01:01:08 my immediate family and then, you know, spending time specifically with Catherine later on the night was great. So, um, I got a free golf lesson, uh, for my present, not a free golf lesson, but like this, this card is good for one free golf, you know, whatever. Uh, and I also got some pickle balls. Hattie was so excited to give me some, like that was her idea completely. So I got some Franklin X forties, you know, sure. Some great ones, classics. And then I got some diva laundry detergent from my mom. My mom's like, I put that on my list every year. And my mom this year was like, I'm calling your bluff and I'm getting it for you. I was like, there's no bluff. It's a want. This is the greatest laundry detergent of all time. So that's awesome. Yeah awesome yeah it was it was a great day overall and uh yesterday was really fun with our
Starting point is 01:01:49 friends chiefs are back so she's her back um dude that's awesome uh quick while we're on the football topic uh garrett gibson texted me yesterday with one of the better ideas i've heard in a while he said um he was wanting to do it for him okay which i don't think we'll do it for anyone this season because it wouldn't be fair but i was like this would be great to do for brad so he was wanting to do it for him, which I don't think we'll do it for anyone this season because it wouldn't be fair. But I was like, this would be great to do for Brad. So he was saying, like in The Bachelor, I guess sometimes, like halfway through the season or towards the end of it, they'll bring back someone who is like...
Starting point is 01:02:15 Yes. Okay. Okay. Okay. So he was contacting me this and I started dreaming. So I was like, what we should do is one week, two people get knocked out. That way, one, still like matches up mathematically at the end of the season and two that there's like double the players at free agency and then we bring brad back with a hundred dollars so now brad is competing yes in free agency to build his own team from scratch but he has a hundred dollars yeah but meanwhile we're also competing for these
Starting point is 01:02:40 players right but i think that would have to be something that like you would establish at the beginning of the season yeah yeah yeah it's like it's like convenient now like hey one of the podcast hosts got out really early so we went back in no one was playing for this so the money you've allotted is now a little different because he's back now no i had the idea of the very oh sorry just good idea garrett great idea great idea garrett let me let me one up it real fast though g money um no it was a great idea had an idea of, because I'm still in the group meet for this guillotine and I just, I just get so like, I just get so much FOMO every time I see stuff. I know. Uh, it's fine. But, um, my idea was at the end of the season. So like whatever the,
Starting point is 01:03:20 the like ultimate week is, you know, the championship week, there's two people left. Everyone else gets to redraft. But so, so like, so like, like in theory there's two teams left, right? There's so in theory, those two teams are mega teams. Like they're ultra like super teams. They have all the best players. Yeah. And so there shouldn't be, there's just be scraps left. Right. And so if, if those scraps get divvied out over 16 people, there's no way those people would win. Right. but whatever you do a redraft and then like you put like one more stipulation on it where it's like they have to score 10 like their their points
Starting point is 01:03:54 are only worth 90 of the point there's something like where it's like almost impossible for those people to end up winning but there's a chance you know or it should just be best of the rest like there's a championship game going on but then everyone else is back in just for the last week. So there's 17 teams. Yeah. Also just winner take all. Right.
Starting point is 01:04:12 There's like a snake draft for the players available. And maybe you could even like use your money that you had when you got out. Somehow. Yeah. I mean, let's just make it as complicated as possible. Yeah. It's so fun. Are you still like dominating? dominating yeah me and all uh his name's gavin his team name is bomb tech drivers we're putting up like 180 plus every week so we're we're both kind of in the driver's seat
Starting point is 01:04:35 there's some other teams kind of blow it there's like three teams right now they're like considerably worse than other teams i think it's gonna be one by one they they miss out then it's gonna get dicey it's gonna be so interesting though because eventually you're gonna fly too close to the sun and you're gonna be like i'm gonna pick up this running back and and like bench the running back that's been doing so well for me all season thinking i know this new running back and then that new running back just you know f's you over i'm afraid i peak too early like my team right now it's like i don't need anyone else everyone is like top 10 or top five in their position so how will i improve this that's like but there's going to be a time when like everyone's
Starting point is 01:05:08 team is as good as mine so then what do i do it just becomes a match-up thing just like i hope josh allen plays well yeah you yeah that just comes down to their performance so whatever that's been football time um oh i did do one more thing on my birthday before we went to we had a late reservation for dinner and so uh we had 8 reservations. So beforehand I got a gift card to Duluth trading company. Okay. And so we went there and this is like, like I always say, like, I don't feel old. And then later on, I like examine my actions. I'm like, maybe I am kind of old, uh, because I really truly like feel very normal. Like I just graduated high school or something, but I know I'm not. Um, we went to Duluth trading company and I bought this sweater and it was like, I was so excited about this sweater. Like literally,
Starting point is 01:05:48 like we got out of the parking lot and I like took off the jacket I was wearing and put on the sweater to wear to dinner. Cause I liked it so much. But then looking back on it, it's like the most like dad's sweater. Like, I think it's still cool, but it's definitely not cool if you are 20 years old. You know what I mean? Like, it's like, it's still cool but it's definitely not cool if you are 20 years old yeah you know what i mean like it's like it's like oh that guy looks good for a dad like he looks like a nicely dressed dad there's a stipulation but then but i realized like later on like oh my gosh like and i was i'm very content with it i wore it the next day to church you're so excited yeah yeah it's very cozy it's like kind of a wool like nice winter fall sweater uh but then looking back and i'm
Starting point is 01:06:25 like oh i don't know about this idea yeah i like sweaters i think everybody likes sweaters i think they're timeless that's kind of that's another thing like 31 year olds are thinking timeless you know like they're not thinking trends at all i'll wear this in my grave no yeah like this is a good investment you know bury me in this sweater right idea is everybody loves sweaters excuse to wear sweaters what if we designate a day of the week that. Idea is, everybody loves sweaters. It's used to wear sweaters. What if we designated a day of the week that's like, Ghost Runners, wear your sweaters, show us your sweaters. Okay.
Starting point is 01:06:51 What day of the week is Sweater Day? Honestly, when you said Ghost Runners, you kind of slurred through it and it kind of sounded like you said Ghost Sweaters. Ghost Sweaters. Ghost Runners. So what day are we going to have? Ghost Sweaters. I think, let's say it on three.
Starting point is 01:07:04 Ready? One, two, three. Wednesday. Pretty much. Okay. Ghost sweaters. I think... Let's say it on three. Ready? One, two, three. Wednesday. Pretty much. Okay. They're adjacent. So one of us should choose. Who's the alpha male?
Starting point is 01:07:11 I'll be the alpha male. Tuesday. Ghost runners, sweater Tuesdays. On Tuesdays, it's ghost sweaters day. Ghost sweaters. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:07:20 Hashtag ghost sweaters. Sweet. And send us your sweaters. Next Tuesday. I'll show you. I'll wear mine in my shop and get it all, you know, sawdusty. Oh. All right.
Starting point is 01:07:29 Next Tuesday or this Tuesday, tomorrow. Like, like I'm already thinking like after buying the sweater, I'm already thinking like maybe I should go get another sweater. That's kind of the, the, the con of, uh, the pro and con of having a birthday so close to Black Friday. You're like, well, it's 30% off. Well, but I'm always like, I know it's going to be way cheaper in two weeks.
Starting point is 01:07:47 Maybe I should, maybe I feel bad for my mom buying this expensive jacket for me right now. But I bought a sweater at the golf course Tuesday, Thursday, one of the days. Golf was free and I had such a good time there. I was like, I owe it to Purcell. I need to- Does it say Purcell on there?
Starting point is 01:08:02 It says Purcell Farms on the front. Yeah, that's pretty cool. It's a comfort colors sweatshirt. Cool. It's like? Yeah. We're not go sweaters day. Go sweaters. Go sweaters day. Um, cool. Okay. My throat is barking, but let's do some voice memos and see how that goes. Let's fag and do it. Hey guys, this is Amelia from Florence, Alabama. I left a voice memo like two years ago, but wanted to call again because last night I was able to go to Birmingham and see Trey and Jake and their show. And it was super good, but I had one goal and one goal only. And that was to meet Jay Triplett.
Starting point is 01:08:35 I didn't think it would happen because I know you can stay in the lobby and my brother and my brother were not going to hang around because they wanted to go home. But then they were like, Amelia, Jake is right there. And I'm like, no, he's not. And then I saw your little redheaded face and I yeeted over there to meet you. So thank you for being so nice and so congenial, so easy to talk to. I really appreciate it. My question for you, since it's not Christmas yet, but I'm going to ask it anyways, what has been your favorite childhood Christmas present and what's been your favorite one you got as an adult? Bradad i'm sorry
Starting point is 01:09:05 for not mentioning you like at all but jake i'll just say this you're super cute in videos but you're even cuter in person so yeah bye-bye wow amen thanks for clapping for me there yeah amen it's been a good episode for me either the my stock feels high this feels like when i should be selling my own stock. It's time to get rid of it. Stock has never been higher. I've got people making check boxes for me and Amelia thinks my face is red-headed.
Starting point is 01:09:33 Red-headed face. Up in the mezzanine. We're just bonding up there. I don't know what to say. Thank you. His throat hurts, so he doesn't have much to say. Yeah, energy is high. Just it hurts my voice. My favorite Christmas presents. As a kid and as an adult.
Starting point is 01:09:49 As an adult, I remember my first Christmas, I believe. We got married in January. So like our first Christmas was quite a bit into marriage. But she bought me an iPad. Catherine did. Oh. That was expensive. I've never gotten anything that expensive ever in my life for a present.
Starting point is 01:10:03 Like, well, we have a joint bank account. So I wish we would have had that one. Exactly. I've never gotten anything that expensive ever in my life for a present. Like, well, we have a joint bank account. So I was like, okay, uh, wish. Yeah. I wish we would have talked about this a little bit. We're newlyweds. I thought we said $200 or higher. It was like, we needed to talk about it. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:10:15 We need to discuss this. Um, I remember growing up, I got a super Nintendo one time. That was pretty dope with NBA jam on it and Ken Griffey Jr. Baseball. Yeah. Ken Griffey Jr. Baseball might be my favorite game of all time it was awesome yeah um got some good gi joe vehicles back in the day really yeah i was never figures i was never a big uh like like big gi joe guy like the 12 inch ones i would like like the tiny guys yeah i grabbed out the tiny guys really
Starting point is 01:10:42 yeah and i i liked that was a lot more and so i got a lot of the the you know the trucks and stuff for that i just remember those being awesome so i remember being a big power rangers fan back in the day but i don't remember the reason but i couldn't watch it at home oh really but grandpa grandpa would let me watch power rangers so i got to see some episodes over there but there was like an off brand of the power rangers i believe it's called beetle borgs oh i remember yeah beetle beetle morphs or beetle beetle morphs is probably right because they morphed into stuff yeah and my parents were they signed off on beetle morphs those were fine oh really so one so they were like actively saying like do not watch power rangers something's wrong with power rangers but beetle like beetle morphs are okay yes okay from
Starting point is 01:11:21 what i remember okay and uh i'm getting like a three pack of beetle morphs. It was awesome. Oh, you were excited about beetle morphs. Yeah, I know. It was still cool. I thought it was. Okay. They morphed.
Starting point is 01:11:30 It was sweet. I thought it was going to be one of those Isaac McDonald NBA. I got you NBA live. We've talked about that before. Oh, nine. The reviews were great. The reviews were better on that one. So I got you the one that's two years old.
Starting point is 01:11:44 Thanks for the beetle morphs, dad. No, years old thanks for the beetle morphs dad no i remember really liking the beetle morphs that's awesome interesting about the power rangers yeah i don't know huh it's fine i want to i wonder what we're going to look back on someday and be like either one way or the other like yeah we let how do you watch that or yeah remember when we were you know worried about her watching too much whatever, Lion King? Remember when we used to be scared of meth? Yeah, I remember when that was like a big thing. Turns out meth is really good for you.
Starting point is 01:12:10 Like there was a whole show of like people not liking, like getting in trouble for selling that. We didn't know it fixed the common cold. Right. Now we know. If you have a sore throat, just pop a meth pill. Yeah. So that's a fun question. Thanks for meeting Jake.
Starting point is 01:12:27 Yes. He's cute. Thank you for liking how I look in person i appreciate it hey poopsies this is carter from detroit og ghosty here um i was at a wedding this past weekend and the officiant started off strong but definitely had a couple downfalls i would say his first downfall was that he mispronounced their last name every time he said it. So when he announced them as husband and wife for the first time, he did not pronounce their name correctly. So that was quite the bummer. But I would say his biggest downfall was that when he was talking about the groom finding his forever love in the bride, when he went to reference the bride, he called her by the completely wrong first name, not even close to her actual first name. So that caused quite the stir in the audience and made everyone feel super uncomfortable so i was
Starting point is 01:13:10 wondering if you guys had any situations where you've been at a wedding and something happened or someone said something and you could tell it made everyone feel super weird um love the pod excited to see you in december jake bye carter B. I'm like 70% sure this is the Carter B that I'm good friends with, but she just played it so cool there. She didn't act like... Oklahoma girl? No, that's Carter Cloud.
Starting point is 01:13:32 Thank you. Good memory though. Carter B is... I went to Yosemite with her. Okay. And to this day, me, her, Malia, and then Noah are all in a group text and like talk on a weekly basis.
Starting point is 01:13:42 Love it. But that didn't seem like a voice memo from a girl who's like in a group text with you on a weekly basis i mean maybe that's her thing she's so cool she's coy coy cool coil go sweaters um what up carter b yeah so actually recently something like this kind of happened the officiant at his wedding i went to the couple met on facebook dating which is fine but not only did he mention, but he like really like hammered at home and like kind of made, no, I didn't make fun of him, but like really like joked about it. It's like Facebook.
Starting point is 01:14:11 I mean, when I met these people, they said they met on Facebook dating. I was like, say what now? Facebook. I mean, I don't even think I've ever heard of Facebook dating. Oh, we talked about the podcast. Oh, is that the one that you did? Like the, that's the only time I've ever heard. I've never heard anybody actually use it yeah you really don't hear it
Starting point is 01:14:27 working it's like the one success story yeah but he was just like i mean i never even heard of this thing i was like you're gonna have to say that for me again huh facebook dating real well you can date anywhere these days you know just like it's like all right get on with like you must have been really desperate so i hear it's's not that great of a dating app. I hear it's kind of mediocre. That's a tech joke. Yeah, I heard it's not great. In fact, it sucks.
Starting point is 01:14:57 My dad's calling me. You want to answer it? Yes. My throat hurts, or I would. Hi, this is Mark Daniels. Mark Douglas. Mark Daniels? Mark Douglas? Mark Douglas.
Starting point is 01:15:12 Oh, gosh, I'm so embarrassed. You even got it wrong on the podcast after I said, man, this guy never forgets your name. Well, my name's not Mark Douglas, so... I think his name was Chong or Chang, something like that. What's going on, man? What are you doing?
Starting point is 01:15:28 We are recording the podcast right now. You have a good birthday. Great birthday. Yeah. My wife got on to me cause I didn't wish you a happy birthday. So I'm sorry, man. Well,
Starting point is 01:15:38 I don't think she did either. I know. I said, you know, we don't have to talk about this on the podcast. I'm just waiting for my fidget spinner I mean I gave you a birthday present five years ago and I haven't gotten anything back and with my hand on
Starting point is 01:15:53 a bible I'm playing with it right now are you really yep I play with it about yeah all the time that's awesome man I enjoyed your podcast today good thanks for listening anyway so you guys Yeah, all the time when I'm home. That's awesome, man. All right. I enjoyed your podcast today. Good. You guys are awesome.
Starting point is 01:16:06 Thanks for listening. Anyway, so you guys have a great night. And if my son's around there, just tell him I'll holler at him later. All right. Come down for a housewarming. Let's get a housewarming party together sometime for Jake. Yeah, absolutely. Okay.
Starting point is 01:16:20 All right, man. Talk to you later. All right. See you. Bye. That was your dad. That was a great exchange oh what'd he say um he said mark douglas i'm gonna look back and see if i call the mark
Starting point is 01:16:33 daniels in the text oh you like followed up with him via text no no no to your dad uh okay nope i said mark douglas what a bummer. Um, okay. So bummer. So this guy just like really like honed in on the Facebook market or a date. Yeah. That's what I remember. I mean, it wasn't like that awful or anything, but just in the realm of that question, that's the first thing that comes to mind. I will say two of the things that I remember from weddings that aren't that awkward, not even as awkward as that honest. Well, yeah, whatever. whatever um the first one was i like scott wanted me to kind of dj his reception but like it was literally like just announce every once in a while when things are happening and then like i have an ipad playlist already going so just go ahead and just let it run kind of thing and so there's like
Starting point is 01:17:18 hey he's like hey do you mind like announcing our first dance or whatever it's like a pretty chill reception um maybe that's a rude thing to say is that a rude thing to say i think you know i don't think anyone's expecting the mormon reception to have like an open bar just be wild yeah um but i had met sam a decent amount of times but i almost blanked i may have even blanked on her name i can't remember exactly what i said daniels i think i i think i said all right and now we're gonna have for the you know their first dance scott and his lovely bride or something like that like i struggled through it i was like oh my gosh and then i think maybe after that i was like sam you know like you guys know but i struggled through that and then i uh played some music one time for a wedding of
Starting point is 01:18:03 people i didn't know. I knew like the brother-in-law of the bride or the brother of the bride. Um, and so they wanted me to play, God gave me you by Dave Barnes or whoever, I don't know. There's multiple people that sing it, but, um, I don't know what happened, but they just never, like, it was like supposed to be the song that I was playing for people to come down, like the, the bridesmaids or whatever, come down the aisle. And I went through the entire song, you know, verse one, verse two, verse one, chorus, verse two, chorus, bridge, you know, this is not playing on an iPad. This is you playing live. This is me playing live in a, um, I think it was the same venue that Trey got married in okay i'm pretty positive actually um and um they don't come
Starting point is 01:18:48 at all after i'm finished with the song and i i'm like looking around and there's no one to tell me what to do and so i kind of just strum to like let it go out and then let that ring and no one's coming i was like maybe they think that like i'm supposed to be done and then they come out so i waited i didn't see anybody didn't see anything so i just went right back into it and played it twice i don't know what i would do yeah i was like i guess i'm doing this again and then afterwards like i saw the brother of the bride who i knew and i was like that was kind of crazy like what happened like you know you guys were he's a very type a guy like i would assume he would have known that you guys were 11 minutes late like walking into the church and he's like i had no idea i had no idea what anything was going on dang like what
Starting point is 01:19:28 how'd you not know uh but i i got got paid good job the same amount no matter how many times i played it but um it wasn't per song but yeah just just any any live performance even if like maybe performance is the wrong word, but church, every single... Anything that's live just cracks me up when it goes wrong for some reason. Yeah, you do enjoy that. That is just my kind of humor. So any kind of slip up that a pastor says, whether it's at a wedding or anything, just
Starting point is 01:19:58 makes me crack up. You would have enjoyed last night in New Orleans. I escort the woman back down to her seat. I'm off stage right, and I realize i have no other way i'm stuck none of these doors work um i got a live mic in my hand with no mic stand like they haven't turned the mic off like i i just wait how'd you escort her down but you can't go back up there was like stairs off to the side of the stage but then like there was nowhere else to go it's hard to describe but basically i'm just like stuck to the side people can already kind of see me and i was just like very awkward and just kind of
Starting point is 01:20:27 waited until trey was doing something very physical and i was like people were looking at him and then kind of skirted behind him and oh wow felt uncomfy did you when you skirted behind him did you kind of make a face or were you just discreet okay very good for you yeah thank you that's yeah i love that kind of thing but um anyway i might have to say that's the end of voice memos great i'm sorry my throat is just truly truly killing me right now this week i can definitely do the jingle i was thinking adele's new song um that one seems like a fun one okay your voice is hurting i would like to know somebody in the comments jake i don't want to know from you i i genuinely don't don't answer what's the deal with the taylor swift thing does she come out with a new album i don't want to know jake i i just see people posting on taylor
Starting point is 01:21:09 swift and i i i don't care enough to look it up myself here's what you should say no no no no wrong answer is only in the comments for that he has to rifle through and try to figure out what's a real comment and what's a bad one two truths and a lie why is taylor swift why is taylor swift releasing new music that feels old wrong answers only because Catherine was like because I said I guess Taylor Swift came out with an album like this is 31 for you but I was like she's like I don't think I don't think no Catherine Catherine's older than I am like technologically and pop culturally like she's like I don't think she did I think it's like something different I was like okay I don't care but so tell me let me know that's that's a fun thing I like wrong answers only yeah it is fun
Starting point is 01:21:46 and in the past our Ghost Runners fans have been very good at that um let's get to our reviews of the week this is fun I have one given to me live that's crazy dropped I believe his name was Gavin not guillotine Gavin but uh Gavin in Birmingham
Starting point is 01:22:02 this little envelope here on YouTube you can see podcast review inside kind of old chief's logo plugged his instagram crestwood chef oh crestwood chef cool guy for real yeah he is i recognize it yeah all right here's the review the goat of podcast oh he dated it this is the kid who's in school you could tell you get like some college world paper yeah gavin number eight yeah 11 23 21 number six dear jake and brad of the ghost runners pod i would like to start my review by saying thank you so much for easily being my favorite podcast by far i don't know how i got through my week before i found you guys one of my favorite things about the pod is y'all don't expect to get anything back from the listeners. I mean, you do it because you love each other's company and are funny dudes.
Starting point is 01:22:48 I'm so happy to finally get to watch Jake perform comedy. And Brad, if you ever go on tour within six hours of Birmingham, I swear I will come. Okay. This letter is the least I could do for the two Midwest best friends who get me on my feet every Monday morning. Thank you, Jake and Brad. Gavin Johnson, PS. I'm 13.
Starting point is 01:23:07 It's a nice touch. I like that. 13 on the 13th. That is very sweet. And I very much appreciate it, Gavin. You're welcome. But it's the least we could do is,
Starting point is 01:23:17 uh, yeah, be there for you on Mondays and get you through whatever you're going through. Um, I had an idea. This is something we should probably not talk about two-way petting zoo um because i i just feel like it's like if it doesn't come to fruition
Starting point is 01:23:29 we're gonna feel bad but i'm gonna do it um do you still tour on in february a little bit not much though okay wait look at my calendar right now real quick so my theory is february is the worst month of the year yeah is that just accurate for everybody? So let's do that. We don't perform much at all. So let's do the best event ever on the worst month of the year. Okay. I was at McLean's earlier today and there was a sign that said, interested in hosting an event here? Inquire at McLean's KC.com or something like that.
Starting point is 01:23:58 And I think it'd be really cool if we had our own live comedy show and or live podcast or something. Yes. At McLean's in February. And we can start hyping up now so people can come and make their way and have something to look forward to in February besides Valentine's Day. Yeah. Which is just bogus.
Starting point is 01:24:15 Yeah. The weekend I'm available, it would have to be the February 12th weekend. Valentine's? Valentine's. Perfect. Great. Come to Kent City, the most romantic city in the world. That's what they say?
Starting point is 01:24:27 I love that idea. So it's a tentative February 12th weekend comedy night in Kansas City I just think yeah February is just the worst it's just dark all the time it's cold but you don't have Christmas to look forward to anymore you got nothing it's just like you're done with your New Year's resolutions at that time so
Starting point is 01:24:42 not working out anymore right you. You're done with that. So, uh, my great call. Yeah. Just, just, uh, something to think about. My review is coming from campfire legend on your feet. Five stars. This pod is the bomb tech. I just started listening to it and I'm almost through every episode. These Midwest best friends feel like my best friend with all the inside jokes. I cannot recommend this pod enough. There's nothing better than genuinely funny and wholesome people and a great community of fans. I can't wait to pick up a GRKC hoodie. Let's go.
Starting point is 01:25:11 Okay. Here are some words of F. Jake, I love your style of comedy and you make me laugh out loud just thinking about some of your jokes. And Brad, I love the stories about you and your kids. I love y'all. Even if you don't love me. Now look out your window.
Starting point is 01:25:26 P.S. I'm 11 and three quarters. No, I love y'all. Even if you don't love me now, look out your window. P.S. I'm 11 and three quarters. No, he didn't say that. So thank you. Can't fire legend. Can't fire legend. Look out your window.
Starting point is 01:25:34 I appreciate the five star reviews. We got a lot this week. So thank you guys. Yeah. I'll read some more digital ones next week. Just had to read the, the analog version this week. You guys get it.
Starting point is 01:25:43 Gosh, you're so cool. Brad, would you like to end this episode with a jingle? Yep. Let's do it. This one's coming from Europe. Bailey Doan. Europe and Derek DeSillo are their names.
Starting point is 01:25:52 Wait, that just reminded me. I met Heatherly in Orlando. The legend. I know. I posted that. I was like a picture of two legends or whatever. A legend and her two friends. I didn't know she was at the show until afterwards.
Starting point is 01:26:03 I got a DM from her. She's a great job. And I was like, you were here. She's like, yeah. i was like you were here she's like yeah i was like where are you she's like i can be wherever i was like maybe i'll back by the bus and so we just hung out and talked for like 10 minutes awesome yeah all right anyway jingle time lancaster oh na na it's a good start can't wait to get out of lancaster oh na na i need to drive this buggy faster oh na na this is fun i gotta get out of lancaster this farm is a disaster oh i forgot you have a part in this but i'm gonna do it
Starting point is 01:26:41 i left pennsylvania to sell my fresh jam and pies and marmalade. We ate it from blueberries all picked by hand. It took me 40 days. I tasted a different life with no rules. I tried to microwave. I can't go back now to raising the mules. It's got me feeling like, ooh. I knew that it was better when i tasted dr pepper got me feeling like
Starting point is 01:27:12 and now i have to tell him i'm not coming home but no one has a phone oh then castor nice i won't go back there too Lancaster. Ooh, nah, nah. Driving this car goes so much faster. Ooh, nah, nah. I gotta stay out of Lancaster. I'd rather watch The Bachelor. Lancaster. Ooh, nah, nah.
Starting point is 01:27:40 I don't know how this part goes, but I'm just going to kind of freestyle this, okay? Okay. Amish, my morning moo juice, milk by hand. Mmm. Churning butter in, we work the land. Done with the bones. Yeah. Okay. Working hard to make some H-cheese Work hard all day, that's me If the cows are hungry, I feed It's not worth it all, baby Oh, Lancaster, ooh-na-na That was nice I won't go back there to Lancaster, ooh-na-na Driving this car goes so much faster, ooh-na-na
Starting point is 01:28:24 I gotta stay out of Lancaster I'd rather watch The Bachelor than cast a ooh na na Won't go back, back, back, back, back like Ooh, yeah Won't go back, back, back, back, back like Won't go back, back, back, back, back like this is good we can we can dang kind of repetitive after this i never liked the original that much but i liked your version did you that was nice it was kind of saucy yeah like the rap that had a melody to the rap i doubt that's how Young Thug did it.
Starting point is 01:29:06 Man, I tried to listen to it once, I think. And I was like, that's, I don't like the way it sounded anyway. It was also very hard to learn how to. I don't even remember the rap part of that song. You did great. That's what it sounded like to me. Sounded like my voice. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:29:19 That was awesome. And you know what it gets me excited for? February 12th. Let's go, baby. Getting to do like a live jingle. Maybe we write ourselves so we like we really know like that one is very well written dude i think it's you but yeah no yeah seriously that was a that was a really good one um but how fun would that be to get to perform like jingles live or whatever just to do the podcast truly just like like it's a show almost yes i think it'd be awesome so fun uh i will
Starting point is 01:29:44 just tease something real quick um the week after thanksgiving i think the jingle is going to be lit that's all i'm gonna say do i need to know what's happening okay okay you're gonna you're gonna be surprised along with everybody else sweet yeah okay i think i hope i hope i can execute it if i could execute it's gonna be legendary this is exciting so I had the idea yesterday. Okay, cool. Try,
Starting point is 01:30:07 try to work hard to make it happen. That's what's up. That's what's up. I'm going to put on my calendar right now. February 12th. What are we calling it? Ghost runners event. I like,
Starting point is 01:30:17 do you think that's good? Do you think that's good? Ghost runners event. No, that's great. Okay. I like it. Um,
Starting point is 01:30:23 I know this one's a shorter one. Didn't get to all the voice memos and everything but um thank you for listening regardless you know there was a part of me especially when i woke up this morning and how bad my voice felt i was like i might just text trey and brad both in a text and be like i can't today maybe you guys just podcast together oh that's honestly what i thought was a crossover i was like brad could be on correct opinions trey on ghost runners don't know, but I'm glad I pushed through and did it. I know I'll be thankful next Monday when it comes out and seeing you guys enjoy it
Starting point is 01:30:49 and knowing that you guys rely on it, you know, and appreciate it. Yeah, every week we make it happen. Yeah, no matter what. Which is crazy. Yeah, because yeah, I'm closing. I mean. Closing on a house.
Starting point is 01:30:59 We haven't even talked about that. I know, it's happening tomorrow. And then I fly out the next day. It'll be fun. Catherine will be there. Yeah, I'm going to fill her in on when I get the keys on stuff that way i don't lose her yeah yeah okay thank you guys so much for listening appreciate you guys love you guys uh talk to you later love you katherine and hattie and beau and my aunt cindy randomly i love her and it's my mom georgianne and my dad dave and my sister julie and my other
