Starting point is 00:00:00 Jake, a few weeks ago, Cassie B, I believe, commented on our YouTube channel, Ghost Runners Podcast, that she wanted to hear some boring fun facts to start out the show. That's oxymoronic. It is very much so, just like her. She's oxymoronic. So let me tell you a few boring fun facts. As I was reading these, I think I just said, what? Out loud a few times. So these are anything but boring, Jake.
Starting point is 00:00:22 I can't wait to hear them. You be the judge. A no number from 1 to 999 include the letter A in its word form. A known number? No, no number from one to 999 has the letter A. Oh, not until you say the word a thousand do you get an A. Correct. Okay. Is that not fun? Is that not fun? It's not boring. I feel like I sounded like Gary Vee right there. Is that not fun? All you have to do is just, you know, move to South Carolina, open up a peanut butter
Starting point is 00:00:53 stand. Is that not fun? Hey, guy. All I'm saying, all I'm saying is that maybe like, it's pretty fun. It's pretty fun to do this. I don't know. You know what's fun? Gratitude.
Starting point is 00:01:00 Gratitude is fun. Just be gratitude, man. That's all I'm saying. That's all I'm saying, buddy. You got it, okay. Boring fun fact number two. Many oranges are actually green. I knew this.
Starting point is 00:01:08 Did you know that? That is boring. What? Okay. That was not the one I was excited about. I watched a How It's Made video with Hattie. We watched a bunch of them. I don't know if I mentioned that.
Starting point is 00:01:18 No. Like four weeks ago, whenever we were sick for so long, Hattie and I watched like 15 How It's Made videos in a row of all these different things. I used to watch how it's made a lot in high school. They're pretty fun. I also watched gangland. What is that? Whenever Hattie's ready, show her that. Okay. Same idea. Yeah. Same premise. Yeah. Just a different director. Okay. Um, the opposite sides of a die will always add up to seven. Yep. I knew that one. Boring. This one. This is the one I said, what? You are 13.8% more likely to die on your birthday. Whoa.
Starting point is 00:01:49 What? What? What's going on? Whoa. Be bored listening to that. Is it candle based or is it just like the, I would like to know if we have any actuaries listening, what's the risk involved with your birthday? Are you less likely to insure someone if they have the birthday coming up?
Starting point is 00:02:07 Yeah. Right. And how come? Like wait, like, yeah. Or, uh, life insurance people like wait until, yeah. Wait until the day after your birthday, like to sign up. Look, the scariest days are behind me. I've had 80 birthdays.
Starting point is 00:02:21 I think my life insurance. I think I'm doing just fine. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So I guess the system is crooked if you're 90 years old then you want to open up a life insurance policy that should be you and it's the cheapest boring fun facts yes uh-oh oh i know i think this tight beat means that it's going down
Starting point is 00:02:37 with some random thoughts and white me too then west best friends eating fast food on repeat so come along let's have some fun and go ahead get on your feet that was according to swiss mortality statistics from 1969 to 2008. So do we buy it? Right when the recession hit. That's I mean, Geneva was struggling at that point, but well, okay. Anyway, how are we doing? I'm doing 157. Kinda. 154. Dang it.
Starting point is 00:03:16 Still no A in it. 154? Okay. Somebody, somebody messed with me or like mess with my mind. Somebody messaged me and was like, congratulations on three years of the podcast. I was like, how did we miss that? Because it hadn't happened yet. They were rounding up.
Starting point is 00:03:33 But it'll be coming up. It'll be our birthday. 13.8% more likely for the podcast to die. Be careful. How are we doing? Good. If you guys watch on YouTube, you see that I am about halfway through 30 pizza rolls for dinner right now. they were hitting the spot how was the one that you had brad i actually had
Starting point is 00:03:49 two did you yeah good sleight of hand i didn't see the second one it was when you were messing with the camera i popped one more in um they're good it was good yeah it was just it was a perfect temperature it was just on the cusp of being cold yeah we're getting there i'm trying to eat fast you better be quick because it Because it's tough though, because if you go too quick, then you're just burning yourself. Well, I know what I'm doing. I know you do.
Starting point is 00:04:09 You go with the corner, right? I'll tell you what I don't know what I'm doing. Coffee, once a week. I just burn the tip of my tongue. Wait, Jake, wait. It's like you're at the crosswalk for blind people. Wait, wait, wait. Oh gosh, I just gleeked.
Starting point is 00:04:21 Sorry. Gleeking's awesome. Wait, wait. Oh man, I did it again. Well, easy, okay? Wait, no. Wait, gosh. I just gleeked. Sorry. Gleeking's awesome. Wait. Wait. Oh, man. I did it again. Well, easy, okay? I think that's wait. No. Wait.
Starting point is 00:04:29 Wait. Now we're just. Hey, brother. You want me to gleek on you? Wait. My mouth's watering now. You burn yourself on. Do you always get lattes?
Starting point is 00:04:40 Yeah. And you burn yourself on a latte. I feel like lattes are usually not that hot. Well, I'm not that smart. Interesting. And I don't learn from my mistakes man okay i'm sorry about that yeah it's a day uh it's not a day runner it's a 30 minute period of time runner it's like man the next 30 minutes are gonna suck i i mean i think it could be a multiple day runner if you burn it depends how far back on the tongue you go yeah absolutely i'm sorry to hear that anyway that's what's going on with me we recorded episode guys yeah we recorded kind of recently and it's friday trey's
Starting point is 00:05:10 about to go to italy so we have been cranking out the pod so we did one yesterday and one today okay so i've been doing a lot of podcasting what was it like to like did you guys try to do one like pretty timelessly like today was an evergreen one yeah so just like yeah what kind of stuff did you do for that uh he asked his instagram.. So just like, yeah. What kind of stuff did you do for that? Uh, he asked his Instagram, uh, dot com audience for questions. Okay. And we just kind of went off that and,
Starting point is 00:05:29 um, talked about like the special week. Cause like his spill might come out before the special. We think. I, I, uh, volunteered my services for last week on the podcast with him.
Starting point is 00:05:38 And he said, I'm good. Thanks though, man. Really appreciate you, uh, volunteering, but I ended up using his wife.
Starting point is 00:05:44 Did a great job katie i i listened to it it was entertaining yeah okay so i listened to it at 1.8 speed whoa and it was good it and then i went back to normal and i was like they're talking too slow for me what app can you do 1.8 i'm pretty sure it was spotify but now i'm guessing maybe it's 1.75. I think it is 1.8. It has 1.2 speed, 1.5. That was 1.1. I don't know. Anyway. Who knows?
Starting point is 00:06:11 I liked it. Anyway. Cool. So episode 198. Episode 198. Here we are. What are we going to talk about, Brian? We played our first basketball game last night.
Starting point is 00:06:21 That was kind of fun. Yeah, we dominated these guys, man. Kind of. In the second half, I think the score was 16 to 9. Yeah, I literally texted our basketball game last night. That was kind of fun. Yeah, we dominated these guys, man. Kinda. In the second half, I think the score was 16 to nine. Yeah, I literally texted our group chat last night. Actually, that was the score? I think in the second half. Really?
Starting point is 00:06:33 I think. I mean, I went out with like seven minutes left. And so direct correlation, you know? Because at one point, like it was me and Luke that were out near the end of the game. And I think they fouled or though they were complaining the other team was complaining about the uh clock not stopping and luke's like i thought it didn't stop if we were up by more than 10 it's like what are we up and we're up by seven or something like that and luke's like what we're only up by seven it was a weird so so like normally like for whatever reason this is the second season in a row where like
Starting point is 00:07:05 the very first game, the refs like bring us all into the middle. Like, and we have like, it was like a salvation army game or something like a, you know, like, Hey, we're all going to pray before this or whatever. Like they like talk to us about the rules. And then one of the refs is the guy that we had last season. And the other ref is this guy's dad, I think, or something like this guy's really, really old. And the younger ref that we had last season, like doesn't is a pretty good ref, like doesn't really call a ton of fouls unless it's like pretty substantial foul.
Starting point is 00:07:33 The other guy, I think you look at the guy the wrong way and he's called a foul. Yeah, it was. It was quite the discrepancy. It was too bad. But he was like that way for both teams. So it was like, oh, well, what do you do? But it was just an ugly game of like i mean yeah both of both teams were rusty and we had nothing really both teams were so out of shape yeah it was it was pretty ugly basketball i i had like i asked at the end of the game i was like
Starting point is 00:07:54 we're still in the intermediate league right we're not like in the lower division now we go down because whenever i walked in and saw them they were all pretty tall they were the most physically like intimidating team we've played in a long time oh i disagree really maybe you weren't there one week but we played a bunch of dudes that looked like they were all like linemen in college really or linebackers and they were big boys they were like yeah i was like we're going to get whooped and we took them down but yeah they were intimidating i was like there was one guy on the team i was like it was six six six eight maybe i was like that guy is wasting his size his trip tonight though was a little stack action run a little stack on him yeah no problem stack stack always works
Starting point is 00:08:34 defense offense no matter what so it was fun rachel and payton sat on the bench yeah afterwards rachel asked who won so there was one time last time I give her court side. Yeah. I was sitting on the bench and you were about to make a good play. And I almost even said something to her. I almost said like, Hey, watch this,
Starting point is 00:08:50 watch this. Just in case you scored, I want her to see it so that she could be like, yeah, that one time you scored was awesome. Like to give her something to say. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:59 Well, thanks for the thought. It was so funny. Like back when I used to go to my Bible study boys games, I would sit next to Molly Coring, one of the moms such a talker like talks consistently and literally like i would be into the game like as i'm talking to her i'd be like oh good job peter and she's like in conversation she goes yeah good job peter so anyway like like i had like did not watch the game one i just followed your lead yeah 100, 100 percent. It was it was great.
Starting point is 00:09:26 So that's that's the new that's Rachel, you know, in the future, I think. Yeah. Something even more fun than basketball last night was basketball the day before. That was really fun. You were vibing afterwards. It was just so fun, which I've been thinking about it more since then. I think that is the Rachel effect on me. I think she's made me appreciate uh
Starting point is 00:09:46 one being warm but two just like little things and just like just like fun moments with my friends yeah i don't know if i would have appreciated that as much as i did that's cool like pre-rachel i like so yeah anyway for which and also gutter is so nice like gunner texts all of us like hey was thinking it's supposed to be really warm sunday was thinking we could all get together kind of a combo for harrison and like will's birthday and then the next morning emily his wife texts us all like hey so just want to let you guys know we're all meeting together sunday for gunner's birthday i was like oh yeah it's gunner's gunner's the birthday yeah and he didn't even mention it so i didn't i didn't see that he mentioned harrison and will's birthday at the end of his text. It could be a fun get together for their birthday.
Starting point is 00:10:25 And then he also signed it with, please, I need this. So he's been at home with a newborn. I'm not doing much. Yeah, it was really fun, though. And I'm glad that Emily texted that out because I think the numbers weren't too strong. I was the only one who responded immediately. I'm like, I'll be there, which our friend. I need to have a talk with our friend.
Starting point is 00:10:43 I'm not going to have it in the group text either. Our friend group does not respond well to group text. It's, it's bothersome. Uh, yeah. My, my excuse personally hand up is that sometimes I'm just not around my phone. Like yesterday. I think you do a good job. Oh, well I do.
Starting point is 00:10:56 Okay. Yes. No, no, seriously. Yesterday I didn't do a great job of like communicate. I communicated right when you said like yesterday, Jake was like, Hey, can we reschedule from seven 30 to six 30? I saw that texted texted back right away but then went away from it like and did work in the woodshop for you know three hours and then all of a sudden all this pandemonium happens all these people are confused like so are we doing 6 30 are we not and so i didn't participate in any
Starting point is 00:11:21 of that so um anyway two days, we get to play outdoor basketball. The wind is howling. It's been windy here for like a week straight. It really took away the jumper. So you could really only shoot layups. It was really exciting. Every once in a while, the wind would die down. It's like, hurry, take advantage. Yeah, it was really fun.
Starting point is 00:11:40 And afterwards, Emily Duckworth brought popsicles. And that's where the real fun began. Man, you loved it. It was just awesome. Pops like you could not. It was it was like it was like the first time. It was like Jake's like a foreign exchange student coming here from the Netherlands. They don't have popsicles there.
Starting point is 00:11:55 It's just like American popsicles. Cold sugar. Oh, like you were like you took a picture of us all. Yeah, I did. Like you were just loving it. I had three. I had three i had three peaceicles and it was yeah i went and thanked emily personally yeah i took pictures from
Starting point is 00:12:09 different angles i texted rachel about it immediately you're like you won't believe this me the boys outdoors popsicles and on top of that a fun little game broke out yeah it was i go brad you're gonna want in on this because you weren't in at the moment someone finished her popsicle and there was a little laffy taffy joke at the end and so people just started quizzing the group on what the joke punchline would be right and all that lasted a while that was a good time it was it was like sometimes it was really easy to guess sometimes it was like oh i didn't see that coming that was dumb yeah what i really liked is we didn't just give away first place either there was first second and third who could get the same answer it's like uh who could say it second and third i want to give her a ring oh give her a
Starting point is 00:12:51 ring yes good second give her a ring yeah okay you got third uh so yeah popsicles were great that was fun yeah i got to meet some new people that i link shout out link link listener of the pod listener link yeah i was talking to my friend scott caldwell scott's like i heard from the grapevine that through the grapevine that you delivered a baby and i was like yes i did and uh scott's like trying to include link and it links like yeah actually i'm a listener of the podcast i know all about it and i was like really you know hey i had already hung out with the guy for 30 minutes before he mentioned anything about it cool link just a classy classy link He also links his loops because later in the day
Starting point is 00:13:26 we were on Team Apple Watch. I was telling Catherine about that. I was like, it was the most Gunner thing ever. Like multiple times, you know, like usually in basketball, you just shoot for teams.
Starting point is 00:13:34 Like first three people that make it are on, you know, whatever. But camp counselor Gunner was out to play. Gunner was like, okay, the funniest one was the birthdays.
Starting point is 00:13:41 I think the first one. He's like, okay, so if your birthday is an even month, okay, by if your birthday is in an even month. Okay, but what I mean by even month is February. April. April would work.
Starting point is 00:13:51 August would work. He kept going. I just gave him such a hard time. I was like, everyone knows what even months are. You have to spell it out. And then after a couple of games, a few more people showed up. I was like, all right, we got to get new teams. All right, everyone at half court from shortest to tallest that's right and
Starting point is 00:14:07 then no one's really doing he's like guys i'm not joking or the time where he was like okay like we need one out of the three of you or out of the four of you uh the one that does the longest handstand wins next thing you know he goes no he goes one two three go and all of them just looked at him at first he's like okay okay anybody that's not listening like i'm gonna do it again and if anybody doesn't do it then you're automatically out one two three go and like somebody was like just in their own covers he's like okay scott's out okay but then all of a sudden people you know did their song and dance for him and did a little handstand yeah it was great and then yeah the final one was by watch. There were three people without watches,
Starting point is 00:14:46 three people with regular watches, which is Brad, and then three people with Apple watches. So it worked out great. That's how we split up the teams. I was on team Apple watch. You guys got whooped. Well, we were trying to-
Starting point is 00:14:56 By team regular watch. We were trying to zone defense in three-on-three basketball. And oh, it was fun. But the one-one-one does not work great. That was pretty great. No, yeah, That's my favorite. One of my favorite ways to play basketball is to cut throat like three on three on three.
Starting point is 00:15:09 Yeah. It's so fun because you can kind of have like a little fast break kind of thing. And yeah, anyway, we there are a few times where like you guys were like frantically like. And that's one of my favorite ways to play basketball is laughing the whole time. It was great. But no, it was awesome. I'm glad that I was able to make it out. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:15:25 It's good to have you there. I came. So the, the original plan was like, so Emily Gunner's wife came with their newborn baby that was born like a week before Rose. And so the plan was like, Emily was going to bring her baby. Catherine was going to come bring Rosie. And, and so I was coming straight from the woodworkers guild. Like I was working, I've been working on Catherine or a Hattie.
Starting point is 00:15:44 I made her a bed this weekend fun and and so the plane was like katherine's gonna meet me there so i called her like i'm like hey do you mind like bringing me like some shorts and some shoes and like a shirt she's like oh i was gonna talk to you i didn't know that i was like for sure coming to that i was actually gonna probably stay back and And I was like, okay, cool, cool, cool. And so like, I literally ended up playing, I mean, luckily they were like athletic joggers, but like I played in my, my athletic joggers and like my sawdust laden, like cotton shirt. And like, I was like sweating and like the sawdust was like burning my eyes. It was like, I look like such a fool right now, but at least I have, you know, a poor man's watch on to play and to get deciphered that you have to be on a team still. Yeah. So it was, it was
Starting point is 00:16:29 so much fun. So get out there and play basketball, even if it's windy guys, still, it was friends. There were a few times where it was comically bad, like, like somebody would shoot it and it would literally be like seven feet short of the basket. Yeah. I went out and played a little golf today and it was like tornadic. It wasadic really crazy Yeah I checked my weather app afterwards and like the constant like the base wind was 30 miles an hour And then it would gust up to 50 is what my weather app was saying Wow, which is well I mean like how fast is it or it does have to be until it's a tornado because there were sometimes like my ball is falling off the tee Like it was just like this is why am I doing this? How fast is wind in a tornado?
Starting point is 00:17:05 Give me give me f1 f1 73 to 112 dude that's pretty close that's not bad that's pretty close yeah 112 okay that's pretty serious dang what do you want f let's see let's do odd numbered tornadoes. Okay. So one, three, five. Could do seven. No. F3, 158 to 206 miles per hour. Okay. F5, 261 to 318 miles per hour. Imagine if it's your birthday and there's a tornado.
Starting point is 00:17:38 You're done. You're dead. It's over. It's over for you. That's the Fujita scale, by the way. That's what the F stands for, huh? Apparently so.
Starting point is 00:17:46 Fujita. Scott, Scott Fujita. Yeah. A little chief slime backer. Huh? Yeah. Absolutely.
Starting point is 00:17:50 Cool. So, uh, yeah, that's our week. Thanks for listening. Uh, you guys appreciate it.
Starting point is 00:17:56 Um, we'll be back next Monday. Yep. This was a short episode for us. Um, you know, I'm doing my pizza. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:18:03 Dang it. I beat you last week on the little Debbie's joke. And I'd be, um, let me tell you about the bed that I made for Hattie real quick. Yeah. Good for you. Projects for the family. Yeah, dude. It's, I mean, it's classic, like Catherine's, you know, always encouraging it.
Starting point is 00:18:16 I'm like, great. It's like one of those things where it's like, well, if we could either buy like a crappy version of this for the same amount of money or I could do it myself. Yeah. And so we actually went back and forth. We're like, maybe we'll get one from Ikea. And then we looked at them and we're like, that's just not what we're looking for. Let's do exactly like the size we want. Custom perhaps. Right. Yeah. From, um, my last name and I create it. So,
Starting point is 00:18:36 um, so originally I was going to like, I don't need to bore you with too many details, but originally bore me with some details okay so i was going to use two by fours and two by sixes which we all know are one and a half by three and a half perfect actual okay got it okay and two by six is one and a half by five and a half right it would be a funny exercise to have to tell a story like an old man and just have like you know no both of those are pretty pretty hefty you know tall guys yeah that'd be that would be kind of tough pretty brutal everyone put it on 3x speed yeah right everyone put it on 3.34x speed i'm sure that spotify has that um no anyway but like i was gonna buy the wood from home depot like pre-dimension
Starting point is 00:19:16 lumber two by four two by sixes uh but i calculated out home depot right now is just the wood at prices you've heard it i mean everyone's talking about it. Everyone's talking about it. They're just expensive right now. And so I calculated I was going to be $350 to buy this wood. In materials. And I was like, it pains me to buy this. I mean, and two by fours and two by sixes, one and a half by three and a half, one and a half by five and a half, real size.
Starting point is 00:19:38 They are crappy. I mean, it's like the lowest grade wood that you can buy. I mean, it's like not super nice, not super like hard, you know, like durable. What kind of tree are we talking? Pine or Douglas fir. Got it. Which is a good Christmas tree.
Starting point is 00:19:51 Hey. Not so good for a bunk bed. I mean, it's going to be fine. Like that's what it's, it's dimensional lumber that they build houses out of. So it's not like, yeah, it's, I mean, it's sturdy. Like your house is not falling down unless there's an F5, Fujita 5. So, but it's not great. It's not furniture grade stuff, but people use it for furniture. Like your house is not falling down unless there's an F5, Fujita five. So, but it's not great. It's not furniture grade stuff,
Starting point is 00:20:07 but people use it for furniture. It doesn't matter. But I was like, it pains me to spend $350 on this. Not so nice wood. When I literally have shed in garage, full of wood, like at my disposal that I can,
Starting point is 00:20:20 if I just put a little more work into, it'd be way more beautiful and be like way better. So I was like, you'd rather someone asked for orange chicken or something. What are you last week? can if i just put a little more work into it'd be way more beautiful and be like way better so i was like you'd rather someone asked for orange chicken or something what do you last week the panda express voice memo yes yes it's like forget i said it i was like trying to figure out the like what i really was like i don't even kind of understand that i get no um anyway long story short i ended up using like nicer wood but it took me a lot longer. Um, like there were some complications along the way, you know, it's getting a little stressful
Starting point is 00:20:50 cause I'm like, yeah, trying to like flatten it out and make it all perfect and like readjust the plans to make it just what we're looking for last night. Like our kids are coming back today. I went and got them this, this afternoon. Kids are coming back today. So like at 10 30 last night after our basketball game, we go into my room or Hattie's room, put the bed all together. It's fitting together great.
Starting point is 00:21:10 It's like, all right, last thing, let's put the mattress on top. I didn't even think twice about measuring out how big the mattress was. Oh no. And like, cause I was like, it's a standard mattress. Like, like imagine a mattress in your head right now. Okay. Okay. Like it's a, probably imagine a mattress in your head right now. Okay. Okay. Like it's a, probably a little bit thicker than this.
Starting point is 00:21:29 Right. Okay. Like this was like for apparently Hattie has like the biggest mattress in the world. It's like 15 inches thick. Oh, like it has like a pillow top, like huge. And so it was like comically terribly, like it was like almost touching the ceiling. Basically it was like way too high it was like the most brad and katherine like you know a why are we doing this so late at night
Starting point is 00:21:49 b why in the world are we like you know why you know i put all this work into like saving us money and then this morning before i went and picked the kids up from texas i went and bought like a $200 mattress for for hattie i was wondering you got to shorten the bed or no yeah well and we that was another classic like we kind of got an argument about it last night because it was like i'm i'm more like let's make a decision let's do this thing right now i was like i'll go to i'll go to walmart right now buy a mattress yeah and like that's how i would be and katherine's like well i want to think about it i want to talk it through and i was like we've talked about i've thought
Starting point is 00:22:19 about i i just i've already talked about it's just a classic like i think really fast katherine i just i've thought about every single thing so far. She's like, she's like, I don't think you have, you know, let me think about it more. Let's talk it out. You know, like whatever. And then I'm like, okay. Like, and then we get in a little bit of like a, you know, hustle or scuttle. Excuse me?
Starting point is 00:22:35 Hustle. Let me get a little scuttle about it. And I'm like, wait, it's cool. I don't think it's hustle or scuttle. Scuttle scuffle scuffle. We get a little bit of scuffle and then I'm like, okay, let's talk it out. And she doesn't want to talk about it anymore. She's like, no, I'm done talking about it.
Starting point is 00:22:48 It's like, no, we got to make a decision about this. So anyway. Like, well, hurry or at the very least hustle. Come on. Scuttle, scuttle, you know, whatever. What's the scuttle bug? So all that to say the bed is good now. It's all worked out.
Starting point is 00:23:00 But there was a little bit of back and forth that it was like classic. Like I worked so hard on this and then I kind of failed in the short run and then ended up being fine. So. What's it like to trade crypto on Kraken? Starting point is 00:24:22 From the executive producers of lost place will not break us the phenomenon returns to paramount plus the only way we go home is together from new season now streaming exclusively on paramount plus that's funny yeah rachel and i by no means had a type of scuttle but i I am just very decisive. And sometimes that's not always a good thing. Sometimes I'll make a decision. I'm like, well, that wasn't the right thing to do. A hundred percent. Like there is value to thinking through your actions. But there's other times where I'm like, like, sorry for interrupting you. I mean, we had this argument last night where I was just like, there's, there gets a time where it's like, it's not a big deal one way or the
Starting point is 00:25:03 other. They're both okay answers. So let's just make a decision on one. Cause it was either like we get a new mattress or we lower down the bed a little bit. Yeah. Those are the two options. I was like, so those are the two options. So let's just do one of them. And she's like, well, I don't know which one I should do yet. And even when I'm decisive in my head, I, I've, it's not like I just made a decision
Starting point is 00:25:20 without thinking about it in my head. I'm like, I've thought about everything and this is the decision. I think I, I think I'm so quick with like, I've thought about the, the four answers. I don't think there's some crazy answer that I'm not thinking of where we're going to like suspend the bed from the air. Like there's not that many different angles.
Starting point is 00:25:36 Well, Brad, you know about anti-gravity would see, you weren't thinking about that. You weren't thinking. But yeah, it's fun. I came down with Rachel so much.
Starting point is 00:25:44 Just I'm learning about like, there are people who are just naturally indecisive and it's fun like hanging out with rachel so much just i'm learning about like there are people who are just naturally indecisive and it's just different and so rachel has like a decision to make about her car like it's in the shop it's going to cost all this money and so her parents are like trying to help her out and so she was on a facetime call with them and they were just like so rachel you need to decide like by tonight um or even in the morning what you need to do and rachel's even kind of had a couple days like knowing this and she still is like i i mean i could truly go either way i do not know i'm trying to run her through all these exercises i'm like let's say this is heads this is tails what would you do if it's in the air what are you hoping it lands on exactly
Starting point is 00:26:18 like and she's like quick instinct i mean i don't think i would care like come on that's that's so catherine like like like okay there, there's heads or tails. She's like, I mean, I would like for it to just kind of stand on its top. Both are good. It's like, yes or no. Do you want to do this? She's like, I don't know. And I'm like, that's not an option.
Starting point is 00:26:36 It's not an option right now. Yeah. And it was so funny because so we're, yeah, FaceTiming her parents last night. I'm not even really in the conversation. Like I'm driving. I'm letting her figure all this out, talk to him. And her dad, I don't know if he just knew, like, Jake will make a decision. But he was just like, Jake, what do you think Rachel should do?
Starting point is 00:26:53 And I mean, instantly, I didn't even know I had an argument prepared. But just, I mean, I just instantly, I was like, I think she should do this for this reason, this reason, and even worst case scenario, this reason, you know? And then I was just like later that night i was just like wow we are we seem so similar in so many ways but in that way rachel and i could not be more different really it was just so easy like yeah that's what you should do yeah that's obviously what you should do and i mean she is she's not young young but she's younger than you you know like she's got less experience with you know toyota's breaking down than you do. Right. That's a great point. You've, you've been a
Starting point is 00:27:27 Toyota owner longer than she has. That's right. She's just a Mazda person. Now she's changed to Toyota. She's not used to it. Uh, that's a great point. Here's a question. Like, I think this is interesting aspect of my dynamic or my personality versus Catherine. Like, like, okay, let's say for instance, like eating out, which I think, I know you don't really care about food that much. And so maybe this is a bad example. Okay. Let's say you do have a little bit of an opinion on food. Yeah. Let's say I always have a little bit of one. Okay. So, so if I said like, if I wanted to go to Chipotle so, so bad, but Catherine's like, I don't want to go to Chipotle at all, but I'll go for you. I would never want to go to Chipotle. Like, like, like, because there's
Starting point is 00:28:12 something in my, in my like personality, that's like, I can't enjoy this. I can't fully embrace and enjoy this. If I don't know that you want to do it as well. Chipotle isn't Chipotle. If my baby of the week is there, uh, against her will. Yeah. Yeah, totally. Like, it's like, it's like, if they're not fully into it, I'd rather like, like if she's like, I really want to go to Qdoba, but I'll go to Chipotle for you. I would be like, I really like, it's like, no, I will go to Qdoba because, because it's like marginally different for me, but I know that you're enjoying it as well. Yeah. Like, it's like, I think, and I think that's probably ultimately a as well yeah like it's like i think and i think that's probably ultimately a good thing but it can also be kind of a bad thing because then it's like
Starting point is 00:28:48 hard for her to let like hard for me to let her serve me does that make sense like so yeah it's like have you do you know have you experienced anything like that where it's like you're struggling to make a decision and it's like like or because because i'm if the roles are reversed and katherine's like i really want to go chipotle and i said well i'm not feeling chipotle uh but i can do it she'd be like okay well i really want to go and if you're willing to go let's go and like no guilt whatsoever you know like like i could i could even be like yeah i don't really i'm not really excited about this it's like well you said you'd go so why we're here you know and i'm whereas i'm like what how does that not affect you yeah i don't know uh well i'll just call it what it is rachel's way better than catherine um no not really but uh
Starting point is 00:29:35 just kidding cath love you love you love you but no i i'd like to think that i you know i would fall in the category of people pleaser always at at least trying to like, you know, not always the most servant hearted, but at least aware of what everyone might want to do. Right. If we do this, could they feel this way? And I think Rachel even takes that to a slightly bigger level than I do. So she, I mean, the only time Rachel ever feels sad or like in a bad mood is like, I just feel like because of this, I might be inconveniencing them.
Starting point is 00:30:02 You know, like that's the only time I see her mood like dampen is when she feels that other people might be negatively affected by something she can't control most of the time. So she would be with you. She's like, oh, if you don't want to go there, we are not going there. And I think it's like exponentially different with Catherine than it would be with you. Like if you're like, eh, Chipotle had it earlier today, but yeah, I mean, it still sounds pretty good. I'll be like, okay, cool. Let's do it. But if it's like, for some reason, like the person that you're like, care so much deeper about, I care about you, but I don't care about you in the same way. Like, yeah, there's only two people in the world that like rile me up and like,
Starting point is 00:30:37 get me so frustrated in life. And it's Catherine and my mom. Like I love them both so much, but they also bring out like a different kind of like feeling in me than anybody else what are what are your guys's conversations like when you're like hey where do you want to what do you want to eat tonight for dinner and she's like i don't care whatever you guys find yourself in that position uh sometimes it's a classic like uh marriage thing where it's like okay one of us like you say i don't care whatever i'll say okay i'll give you three options that's what i do yeah it's a classic like because that way it's a win win, you know, it's like, let me, or some, but every once in a while it'd be like three options. And she's like, I don't really want any of those. And then that's when I get a little testy, like, okay, then you choose, like you do have an opinion. Yeah. It's
Starting point is 00:31:17 just a classic, but, but she's not, she's not like the classic, like very, that doesn't happen very often. Like, she's not like, I don't know. I don't care. And then she's all of a sudden she does care. Like, usually she'll say, like, I know that she cares. I always know that she cares. Like, like she's never going to choose Panda Express ever. Like I'll never eat Panda Express with Catherine. Like I, because, because even, even if she says yes to it, I'll be like, you don't want to be here. And that's not enjoyable for me. So I'm going to go to Panda Express by myself sometime and you're gone. This is so great. Yeah. So Rachel is, I mean, it is shocking. Granted, we're only six months in, but I mean, she hasn't made a decision on dinner yet.
Starting point is 00:31:49 It is crazy. I'm like, how can you not? Cause yeah, I mean, it just, she's like, like, what are you in the mood to eat tonight? I mean, anything. Yeah. I mean, that's what every single time, like I would eat anything. I don't even know why I ask her anymore. She's not, she doesn't have dietary restrictions, but she is healthy.
Starting point is 00:32:02 Right. Like, so it's like anything you might have a you you might not want to go to mcdonald's you don't want to go to jump and catfish i mean they got hush puppies but i mean i can ask uh have you been there no but i think uh we're gonna go on a double date with harrison and abby we're gonna go inside we want the full experience i can't wait to hear what you think of jumping catfish um been there once but rachel truly i mean but i can't even comprehend it it's like you know it's just outside of my brain's ability to comprehend that you don't have an opinion because like you don't care she's like no i was like all right what about uh i would do chipotle
Starting point is 00:32:39 i would do pizza i would do panda or i would do you you know, whatever. And she's like, any of those sound good. I'm like, you don't have like a preference one over the other. She's like, no, like none of those sound bad. Yeah. I just like, and I don't think she's lying. I just, like I said, my brain cannot comprehend that you wouldn't have an opinion. Okay. I'm curious about this for all the ghosties listening. Like anybody that's married, is that still true about your spouse? Because I think there might, it might be a little bit of a dating thing. Like where it's like, I don't care. I'm just happy to be with you. Like eventually you're not just happy to be with yourself. Like eventually you're like, I want the orange chicken. Like, you know, like I think. And that's why I'm like, I'm like,
Starting point is 00:33:16 it's only been six months, but truly, I mean, it's very consistent. Just like, yeah, whatever. Like you a couple of weeks ago said you were excited about like renewing your tags or like, you know, like renewing your driver's license with Rachel one week. Yeah. Cause like, like, it's like, I don't care. It's just anything I can do. Yeah. It's a theme. I love a theme, you know, like, whereas like obviously the longer there's not as much infatuation later on in life. And so I, I, yeah, I just want to know, like, do, do any of your spouses out there still not have an opinion about anything? Are they still this indifferent in this indecisive right? Because years into marriage, because I just, I don't know. I think that I feel, I can't remember exactly what it was like, but I think Catherine and I were probably like that
Starting point is 00:33:52 to an extent. And now all of a sudden I'm like, I know Catherine's opinion on everything. Like I could tell you what kind of bottle water brand she likes. Yeah. No Aquafina for Rachel. Oh, that's absolutely true. I think a lot of people think that, or no, wait, no. Yeah. People said it has like a different taste yeah rachel her she has a couple like funny conspiracy theory you can't really call it conspiracy but she's like uh oh dasani she claims gives her cold sores i was like really i was like i've heard people having water preferences for the reason i've never heard that she's like yeah it was like all over tiktok and i was like well see if you could find it and she's like i can't find it anywhere i don't know where i got
Starting point is 00:34:28 i mean decided on my coca-cola they they uh wiped it out so i can't how much dasani are you drinking to give you cold sores it's like dasani touches your lips and you're done i don't know yeah i don't know how she was drinking it but um i'm sure people out there are like no dasani is bad like bad for you. Yeah, I mean, yeah. Yeah. Anyway, the only thing I've ever heard Rachel say no to and have an opinion on food wise is Subway. I guess before.
Starting point is 00:34:53 I mean, almost every college. Oh, that's right. Volleyball game. Her coach is like Subway's healthy. And so they were like force fed Subway. And so we actually went to Subway yesterday. It was right for the basketball game. We're already downtown.
Starting point is 00:35:04 It's not a lot of options. I was like, so what's about the only thing that I could eat quick and would be good before a basketball game. And she's like, okay, but you have to go inside. She stayed in the car. Yeah. She's like, I don't even want to smell it. It was like that triggering.
Starting point is 00:35:13 Yeah. It does have a very distinct smell. It's a distinct smell. I mean, like think of anything and I can tell you what Catherine's opinion of it is. Okay. Don't be ridiculous. Hey, don't. Hey.
Starting point is 00:35:23 Okay. Don't be ridiculous. All right. Easy. All right. Okay. okay don't be ridiculous hey don't hey okay don't be ridiculous all right easy all right okay this is gonna be a fun game okay i'm gonna rattle it's gonna be like so exposed like oh gosh all right go ahead chopsticks she oh okay she'll she'll use them yeah she'll use them okay dog parks oh gosh we don't have a dog probably fine okay sorry we'll make it toothpaste yeah she'll use them okay dog parks oh gosh we don't have a dog probably fine okay sorry we'll make it toothpaste yeah she uses tom's toothpaste it has it's flams fluoride free yeah fluoride free yeah okay better soak your fluoride uh-huh okay um what about like uh flat bill caps talked about this she i've never seen her wear one so i think uh airpods no uh there's
Starting point is 00:36:06 something like the the radi radiation she's like no she's like genuinely radiation like no yes she's like uh like a few times i'll like fall asleep with my airpods or i think you have bluetooth headphones in and she'll be like that's bad for you okay yes what about nighttime routine yes i mean yeah like she'll want to like read i mean not like she doesn't have like an exact routine but yeah she absolutely has a nighttime routine i mean yeah what's her what's her like um blend of t-shirt what does she prefer 100 cotton she really likes those tri blends from gr the grkc tri blends are nice um we actually this is uh this is both a uh plug for our merch that's coming out
Starting point is 00:36:46 and walk in loves that just came out we got um some samples from walk in love and she loves this new like heavyweight tea from walk in love i did see there's not a heavyweight team and we're gonna i think we we should sell those same ones so heavyweight teas for us yeah um okay uh what are they called ear um yeah what are those q- those? Q-tips. Q-tips. No, you're not supposed to. I don't think she's supposed to. Like, you're not supposed to use them. Anti-Q-tip.
Starting point is 00:37:09 Yeah. But she uses them for makeup removal, I believe. Okay. Okay. Okay. Bobbleheads. No, no opinions. I know.
Starting point is 00:37:18 Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Rain boots. Yeah. She has Hunter rain boots. Okay.
Starting point is 00:37:24 Because I think they're better than other rain boots okay lawn care um don't know don't know how she feels about lawn care too much i don't think she cares too much about that she did want to like get something called sunday have you heard of that no it's like a brand of stuff i was like that's a waste of money okay so i had an opinion on that okay um just general noise yeah she's frustrated with noise she's frustrated she gets overstimulated like like with kids like i can tune out my kids crying like like i picked up my kids today and like the last hour they were like having tantrums and crying no problem she would she would go nuts like every once in a while like with like five
Starting point is 00:38:00 minutes left she'll call me she's like i'm going's like, I'm going to lose it. I'm going to lose it. They said, they said, I'm not stop crying for 45 minutes. I'm going to lose it. Yeah. It wears you out. So painters tape genuinely dude. Like what about it? Genuinely? Yeah. She has an opinion on painters tape. Like, like there's, there's some, we, we like painted our trim, like our crown molding and she put painter's tape we like uh painted our trim like our uh crown molding and she put painter's tape up and some of it was like so hard to come off that if you look in our dining room there's still painter's tape up there she's very frustrated about that bath towels she just i don't know she used them oh yeah that's good yeah i don't i don't know what her
Starting point is 00:38:41 what what kind of opinions you want okay okay. Okay, okay. I'm just asking. Note-taking apps. Not a big note-taker, and it kills me. How does she take them? Dude. Dude. It kills me. It's like an inside joke, but it's kind of not an inside joke within our marriage,
Starting point is 00:38:58 where I'm like, hey, just write it down. She's like, oh, I need to text that person. I'm like, hey, write it down. And she gets so frustrated with me because it's like such a... She it's patronizing but i'm like you gotta write and and so but what she does is she just writes it down on any it could be it could be anywhere in the house so she has 15 different to-do lists or she has one on her phone you know and like one on the fridge and like i'm like it's an easter egg hunt year-round in the ellis house you find a to-do list from six months ago dude yeah it's i don't know.
Starting point is 00:39:25 Maybe she's gotten better at it, but it just, it's a killer to me. Cause I'm a big Evernotes notes app, whatever, like that kind of thing. Yeah. Write it all down right there. Have it consolidated. And she's just like, she's more like, Oh, I got to write it down. You know, whatever. Nice. Okay. Now you try for Rachel. Okay. Um, let's see. I'm trying to think of things that Catherine has an opinion on, um, vegetables. She doesn't care. It's see. I'm trying to think of things that Catherine has an opinion on. Vegetables. She doesn't care. Is this going to be hair gel? No preference. Sub sandwich locations, places, franchises could go either way.
Starting point is 00:39:57 Sub sandwich franchises that are loosely based off of New York's transit system. She likes Jimmy John's. Okay. The Jimmy John's bus. Basketball. Doesn't care. Football. No worries. Baseball.
Starting point is 00:40:12 It could go either way. Men's tennis. Whatever. Women's tennis. That's fun. Co-ed lacrosse. Whatever. Okay.
Starting point is 00:40:22 Thank you notes. Doesn't matter. Dasani. Oh, well. Cold sores. notes doesn't matter uh dasani oh well cold sores she doesn't care yeah that's the point it's interesting joke landed i'm very interested like let us know genuinely in the comments um and by the way thank you for the comments on the latest gene shorts video yeah i wrote that down to talk about you guys were rock stars i mean right out of the Also, did you guys like talk about this like amongst yourselves somewhere where I couldn't see it? Everyone was commenting, like ghosties were commenting
Starting point is 00:40:51 and then they would reply to their own comment. Well, you said that. You told people to do that. Oh, I said that? Yeah. Wait, why? Wait, when and why? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:41:00 I said it on the podcast? Yeah. Huh. I was listening to the podcast today. What did I say? You said basically that you're like comment and then re-comment tell you know tell your your whatever your mother-in-law tell and that's when you were like tell jellybean tell pez dispenser gosh i don't remember this yeah what's wrong with me i was like man he wants to talk to
Starting point is 00:41:18 themselves yeah because some of you were commenting and it was great i mean so yeah we posted that video today it was very exciting um i mean still yeah, we post that video today. It was very exciting. I mean, still now the video has been up. I mean, probably 10, probably 12 hours now. And I would say two thirds of the comments are about the format itself and not even Ghostrunners listeners anymore. It's just like our subscribers or people found it randomly. They're just like, well, this is a fun format. Like so many people are commenting that.
Starting point is 00:41:40 It's awesome. Thank you. You guys are great. Thank you for enjoying it or at least saying you did. Yeah, at least lying about it. the analytics have been awesome to look at i've been i've been glued to them you're an analytics guy i am not probably because i'm worried like i i would see things that i would be discouraged by honestly no it's i mean when you do something this different i think you have to pay attention normally i don't pay attention right but this is like i mean we
Starting point is 00:42:02 never did anything like this before um yeah. I mean, all good things. The video started out at the gate. It was ninth best out of our last 10. And then almost every hour it got up and now it's up to four out of 10, which is great for an eight minute long video. And what about the, what's it called? Like the run, the viewing time. So that's what we were curious about too.
Starting point is 00:42:21 It's interesting. So I think I learned from YouTube, like they don't care as much about the percentage watched. It's literally just minutes. It's just like a quantity thing. Really? Basically YouTube was like, whoa, people are watching, you know, much more of your video than normal minutes wise,
Starting point is 00:42:35 which is kind of a silly way to do it. You know, it's just like people normally watch your videos for two and a half minutes. Today they're watching for four and a half on average. And so it, YouTube youtube the studio app even said like because your video is getting more watch time we're recommending it to more people it's like that's amazing thank you that's it so obviously you can't you can't do this every time but if you set a baseline and then you exceed it then youtube will reward you so i think this is
Starting point is 00:42:58 like a new model to do occasionally i think this is the type of video that's going to build depth i don't think this is a video that a style video that's ever going to go viral. Right. But yeah, the click through rate is like 22% right now. What does that mean again? That's like basically like a click and then next kind of thing. Almost like a conversion rate. It's like we've shown it to for every 100 people that it was shown to their, I saw it
Starting point is 00:43:20 was either in their subscription box or in their recommended sidebar. 22 of them clicked and end up watching the video. Oh okay i see 10 percent 10 or 11 are good you want click yeah you want a high click-through rate oh i was thinking like i watch five seconds yeah i'm done i'm through with this i'm through with this click something else okay clicking through hey i'm clicking it i'm clicking it what is this subscription thing? Yeah. Okay. So yeah, just the metrics were fascinating. It was really fun. And people, Scott was a huge fan.
Starting point is 00:43:51 Harrison, he watched it. He enjoyed it a lot. So it was fun. It's fun. Life's good. Life's good. This is exciting. I'm glad. I'm glad to hear that.
Starting point is 00:43:59 Yeah, that's good. Yeah. It was awesome. You would be proud of me, Jake. I already am. I dipped my toe into golf a little more no dang it i'm excited i'm going to secretly get into golf someday and just be really mediocre that's the first time we play against each other i still have clubs for you from my dad in my garage
Starting point is 00:44:16 oh if you ever want them okay i'll take them okay yeah um thank you steve um you're welcome he says no i dip my toe deeper into the youtube um knowledge base well i mean you're good friends with mr beast so you kind of owe it to him i listened to the mr beast episode joe rogan is what i did today oh joe rogan cool i haven't listened to that oh you haven't oh i haven't i thought i thought you were the one that mentioned it the other day it was probably derrick then Yeah, it was really good. Was it? I mean, the guy's fascinating, which I know you know already. He's a crazy hard worker.
Starting point is 00:44:51 He's very savvy. Yeah. And like. Still lives in North Carolina. Does so many different things. It basically does. Like, according to this interview, doesn't care about wealth at all. Yeah, it's not about money.
Starting point is 00:45:01 Like he is just literally trying to give everything back. Yeah, he does. Which is crazy. Yeah. Amazing. Like he says, literally trying to give everything back. Yeah, he does. Which is crazy. Yeah. Amazing. Like he says, yeah, I drive a Tesla because I want to save gas, like save,
Starting point is 00:45:10 like maybe like the environment aspect of it. But like he's like, I lived in a very normal house until it got robbed one time. And he's like, so I realized I needed
Starting point is 00:45:19 a little more security in my life. But he's like, he's like all the things that got robbed. I didn't even really care that they got robbed because I was like,
Starting point is 00:45:24 I don't really want those things anyway. Yeah, he's like, he's like all the things that got robbed. I didn't even really care that they got robbed because I was like, I don't really want those things anyway. Yeah. He's fascinating because he said like his, what is it? Like all the, so he, he has all these different channels. Right. They talked about that too. And he uses all the money from that to pay for his main channel because he is spending way more than he's earning. Right. It's awesome. Yeah. Yeah. He talked about, and I haven't, I haven't watched a single video of his and I will watch some, but I'm still not like a hundred percent. Like I'm going to watch all these videos, but just the concept of what he's talking about. Like, yeah, he spent $4 million on that. Like apparently the squid game, like reenactment video or something.
Starting point is 00:45:57 I mean, that video blew up. 220 million views or something like that. Yeah. Like unbelievably crazy. And he spent $4 million dollars on that though that's crazy like four million dollars that video was like almost like a monumental day in the like in the timeline of youtube it was like this like this is just way different than anything youtube has ever seen before he compared he's like i don't know if this is worldwide this is probably just america there's 220 million american net just America. There's 220 million American Netflix subscribers. There's 220 million people that have watched this video. So it's like literally squid game.
Starting point is 00:46:31 There's no way it's like more popular. Like this video is maybe more popular than actual people that watch. I mean, it's just insane. Like some of the things that he was talking about and yeah, I, I didn't expect you to say you hadn't listened to it for some reason. I thought you had,
Starting point is 00:46:43 so I thought we were going to talk about it more, but just like, like, yeah, just, yeah. He's very humble. He's very like, I didn't expect you to say you hadn't listened to it for some reason. I thought you had, but we're going to talk about it more, but just like, like, yeah, just, yeah. He's very humble. He's very like, I mean, it just seems like he's just, yeah, he's huge. But at the same time he's like, he doesn't think he is or he doesn't care that he is like, all he does is YouTube and he doesn't have like any social life really. I don't think. Yeah. He just like, he just enjoys.
Starting point is 00:47:01 And he's just very obsessed with YouTube and it's just crazy. So it made me want to become obsessed with YouTube and not do anything else in life. All right. But at the same time, three biggest orders ever this week. You were telling me before the podcast. Yeah. Yeah. What's it going to be?
Starting point is 00:47:14 The, hey, the, the, hold on. The goose, the wolf, the wolf who's the hungriest is the one chasing two geese. Wow. That is not a direct quote, but it's something similar to something I saw on a poster in middle school one time. Okay. Well, in that case, then I'm just going to tell those clients, sorry, I'm going to Jean Shorts.
Starting point is 00:47:35 I have a different goose. You guys get it. You understand. Trey's my goose. Goose shorts. You know, goosey shorts. A couple of comments were like, whoa, long video. Maybe change your name to Jean Pants. That's not bad. Ha ha. Yeah were like, Whoa, long video. Maybe change your name to Jean pants.
Starting point is 00:47:45 That's not bad. Ha ha. Yeah. Anyway. Yeah. It was very interesting though. It was like, it made me intrigued of like,
Starting point is 00:47:51 like one of the things I really kind of resonated with or like made me think he was like, it's like too many people. Like you can make more money off of one really good video than four decent videos. He's like, you can either get one video that could get a million views or, or sorry, four videos that get a million views, or you can make way more money off of one video that gets 10 million views or something like that. And I was like, okay, that kind of hits close to home for us. I think, cause sometimes I think we're just like,
Starting point is 00:48:17 so concerned of like, let's just push things out there and get it out there a lot. It's like, maybe we should, I don don't know think about the idea of like hey one video every two weeks but just kill it yeah i think that's the somewhat of the pattern or i guess the um path that trey's channel might go on like now we have all these other channels like yeah focus a little more on quality rather than quantity on the main channel right because then it feels like those people that are fans still are getting it from the other channels like more consistently yeah yeah anyway it's just because because yeah like we're trying to for a while we were putting like basically five things a week almost within shorts and everything and i'm not saying they were bad but i'm just saying
Starting point is 00:48:56 like if we really focused on it like like when we did that starbucks husband's video i think we tried a little bit harder uh-huh you know and we were rewarded and yeah they were that's the scary part it's just because you put more time in you're not guaranteed anything 100 and he talked about that i think too like yeah there's some that just completely fail and so yeah i'm sure yeah that is that is absolutely the truth of like some of the ones that we didn't put that much time into did really well so it's like well what do we learn from this i don't know that's the tricky thing with comedy. You're not like guaranteed anything. I was listening to Tom Segura on part of my take and he was like, or no, it was Judd Apatow.
Starting point is 00:49:31 And he was talking about, he's like, comedy is a mystery. He's like, you can make a drama where you're like, people are going to cry at this part. Right. You know, or you can make a thriller and be like, this is going to be suspenseful at this part. Yeah. You feel, yeah, you feel this part is like heavy. But you make a comedy and you're like, I mean, this is funny to to me it's so subjective i think it a lot of people would like it but yeah i mean that's it's tricky yeah that's why that's why uh we only have a hundred thousand not a million
Starting point is 00:49:55 jake right there what are you doing for easter i'm staying home going to aunt cindy's house that those seem like two different things staying in k city. I'm not leaving my house. I will be at aunt Cindy's the whole weekend. No. Yeah. Easter. We always just go to my aunt Cindy's, um, after church and we have a little Easter egg hunt there. I'm really pumped for, cause I think Hattie's going to like, I was going to ask about Hattie. Yeah. And last year, I don't know. We had a little bit Easter celebration at my house and the year before that we didn't have Easter at all because of COVID stuff. And so I think Hattie technically like did an Easter egg hunt when she was two,
Starting point is 00:50:30 but this is like the first time, like she's five years old. She's going to like be into it this time. Nice. So I'm excited for that. When I went and golf today, I don't know what had happened. But a lot of where it looked like where there's typically tall grass,
Starting point is 00:50:41 it looked like they had cut it and burned it. So I don't know what happened. Cause I was like, Oh, there's golf balls over here. And they were like charred it so i don't know what happened because i was like oh um there's golf balls over here and they were like charred so i don't know what happened anyway dude it looked like an easter egg hunt because imagine where there's been tall grass for nine months yeah it's all like shaved now and so there's just golf balls of all these different colors everywhere it was kind of awesome interesting yeah but then you'd go up like oh this
Starting point is 00:51:03 looks like a nice one and then it's's like, why is it so Brown? I don't think it's going to fly the same. Yeah. It was in the tornadic wind. Anyway, sorry. And Cindy's. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:51:11 So we're just going, I mean, my family, my extended family is so big, so it's a fun, big celebration and should be good. Should be, should be good.
Starting point is 00:51:18 Should be scuttled. Yeah. It'll be the first time a lot of people are meeting baby Rosie. So that'll be fun. Fun. Yeah. Get her exposed to some germs. That's good. Natural immunity.
Starting point is 00:51:29 It'll be the first time we're going to church as a family of five, which will be good. Cool. Sam Severs will say amen. What do you think of calling it hashtag family force five every time I post about it? And just always play a never family force five song. You like that? Oh my gosh. what are they up to
Starting point is 00:51:46 that one was good love addict that one was good someone someone write brad and i a jingle to love addicts i would love that oh my gosh i know my sister's listening right now i mean like yeah that song is still so good um i can see your sister getting down to Chainsaw back at camp. Chainsaw was good for a summer. I don't know if it was. Cray Button was good for about a week. I was like, oh, man, that was them, too. Yeah, that's bad.
Starting point is 00:52:15 Yeah, that was not good. Oh, man. But Failing Force 5 seems like people that we could like easily get in contact with. Like they seem so popular when I was in eighth grade. Yeah, I bet'll answer dms oh yeah i mean what do they do do you think like one of them works in retail no you think they're all musicians still they gotta be well i don't know yeah you're right maybe they're like burnt out and they're back doing you know car insurance or something i don't know maybe i'll do let's ask what's up with you guys every time you're family force five what do
Starting point is 00:52:45 you think just maybe maybe just family force five week or something like that i love it i'm gonna see what you're up to on all right if you uh years active 2005 to present okay okay i i thought about like whenever i did like rose's baby announcement kind of thing on my instagram story i thought about doing like family force five at the end and calling it family force five but i did like more of a sweet like oh look at this family being fun okay so looks like all posts have been deleted from the band's official social media accounts prompting rumors that the group might be disbanding altogether. But then today, this is January 2018,
Starting point is 00:53:28 came a post promising FF5 will go on with a tease at a potential new music coming soon. In quotes, FF5 is alive and well. Well, which is it? Did they come out with music? Let's look them up on Spotify. It looks like they don't have their own website, so that's not a good
Starting point is 00:53:44 sign. They got a Facebook page. That's all you really need trust me family four five um let's see last time they posted discography looks like 2014 was their last uh release unless they have some singles what a what a band though what a band if you guys don't know what we're talking about check them out they had a keytar yeah remember that i remember i went to a concert there's back in high school at a church and when they were in like the green room or like whatever beforehand it was like this old costume closet for this church and so they literally all found these costumes like choir robes yeah like hilarious it wasn't quite it was like i feel like it was like animal costumes or something like something pretty funny play play it are you
Starting point is 00:54:29 playing something it was their most recent song yeah it looks like it's over it's over for family force five for now we'll get them back for now how much would it take family force five to get you guys back ghosties will do it i i have very high confidence in the ghosties um here's a spotify transition we were just talking about that a little bit um i think this could be a fun game to play with the ghosties and we'll call it here's how you can earn 15 off your merch order this week whoa yeah um i found randomly a playlist is like a spotify like curated playlist called unwind 2000s unwind zero zero S is specifically what it's called. And there are 50 songs on it. There are three songs that I dislike out of these 50, like, like it was
Starting point is 00:55:14 hitting home for me. It was like, Oh, great song. Awesome song. Yes. Three of those songs did not hit home for me. If you can guess which three songs they are, I'll give you 15% off. No, no, no, no. I take it back. If you can, if you, if you do guess which three songs they are like for the first day, we'll just give anybody 15% off. You have to post it on your story. We'll, we'll figure out some way to like make it a social media thing. Wait, out of 50, they have to guess the three. They have to just try like, like automatically 15 try like like automatically 15 off if you try if you if you post it on your story you know i don't know we'll put we'll put specifics out there like if you post on your story and you you just try because that way like gets the word out a little
Starting point is 00:55:56 bit that we're selling merch got it and if you get it right i'll give you a free shirt i was gonna say how's that three out of 50 all three out of 50, maybe with like five guesses. You get three of them. Nope. That's so hard. That's why it's a free shirt. I, I, I free t-shirt,
Starting point is 00:56:10 but it's like, it's like all these like really chill, like Jack Johnson and, uh, Matt Nathanson, Ray LaMontagne, like all these, like,
Starting point is 00:56:17 you know, just chill, chill, chill guys. You know, you know, those guys, right?
Starting point is 00:56:20 Yeah. Yeah. I know those guys. Donovan Frankenreiter. Donovan Frankenreiter. Yeah. Anyway. Cool. That's my, that's my challenge the ghosties fun uh i have easter coming up yeah
Starting point is 00:56:33 people listening do not you guys just had it he's risen for you guys and for me yeah i don't know we'll see uh but going home and r Rachel's coming home first time ever. Yeah. Gotta be fun. Tell the, tell the story about your mom last night that you said, Oh yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:56:49 How did that go? So my mom texts me, it was like, Hey, I'm going to go grocery shopping. Um, what kind of specific foods is Rachel want? And I'm like,
Starting point is 00:56:56 Oh, here we go again. You know, I literally just got, she doesn't care. Yeah. It's so, of course I text Rachel.
Starting point is 00:57:02 Um, Hey, my mom would love to get you something like specific. Like, what do you, um, what would you like? And she and she was like oh please do not have her give me i anything specific i will be okay with anything i'm like okay you sure you don't want anything like my mom will get anything you want she's like no do not like i will eat whatever i text rachel i'm like we eat pretty unhealthy like just FYI she's like that's great i don't want
Starting point is 00:57:22 to inconvenience anyone so i text my mom back rachel said she'll eat anything my mom texts back does she know how unhealthy we eat i was like i tried telling her i tried telling her and um and then your dad has diet dr pepper for breakfast my mom texted back and said dad wants to know if she prefers a regular bologna or ring bologna um just as long as it's from subway it's good which do you know what ring baloney is what the one that has the ring like the plastic around it uh yeah it's like in like a horseshoe shape wait no no i don't know what you're talking google ring baloney look at i just want you to see that image it is one of the more unappealing unappetizing like things that is technically edible horseshoe oh wow wait just ring baloney see it okay oh it's like it's like
Starting point is 00:58:06 oh what that's that's like it looks like a sausage is that what you're talking about yeah yeah yeah like yeah horseshoe yeah yeah yeah ring baloney no i've never seen that oh yeah i remember my grandpa would come in from like farming and uh he'd like stop and take a little lunch break at our house and he'd sit there at the kitchen table and he would just take a knife to ring baloney he'd cut off a little just scoop of it put on a saltine cracker and just eat that i mean maybe maybe i've had i've always assumed it was sausage but maybe it was baloney that i ate like this like because i like it looked like cut up it looks like just a sausage that you put on a cracker or something but yeah i mean
Starting point is 00:58:45 bologna is just i think of the past like if you're having bologna still i want to know who you are like if you were under the age of 24 okay 54 54 i want to know i want to know if you're still in bologna i want to know why or yeah what tell me if you're under the age of 54 still have eaten bologna in the last five months i want you to comment four other things about yourself on youtube just anything you want just give us a little idea i just want to know a little demographic of who we got here so that's really i think you should have so there's a few different things i have a feeling about with this rachel thing one is she's just in a lose-lose situation with your mom. Well, not a lose-lose,
Starting point is 00:59:25 but if, if she has like any kind of specific preferences, she's going to have so much pressure of like, I got to eat all like, like if your mom, if your mom buys a 12 pack of, you know, whatever, like Fiji water, you said you liked organic peanut butter. Yeah. We bought a jar of it. Like she would, she would have to have so much of that you know because afterwards like you like you're like trisha's not gonna eat this peanut butter i mean you you ask it's expensive it's like way more expensive than jeff it's like or you know if if she doesn't like say she needs anything specific and then your mom gives her something that she's like i'm repulsed by this it's like well you should ask for something yeah but she's like i gotta eat it so i think it would be really funny if you pulled a prank on rachel slash your mom and just said like a bunch of really gross anything
Starting point is 01:00:08 from subway yeah anything subway for breakfast i know it's weird but that's trust me you will love it i mean yeah people put ham and eggs together so it's not that much different like ham and toast basically it's like this ham sandwich she is gonna love it yeah that would be pretty funny but that's exciting that's her first time back in strafford yeah first time ever uh bringing a lady home first time ever really giving anyone a tour of strafford it's gonna go pretty quick yeah um be excited first stop or any any stops you're gonna show her taco bell with the truck stop sure or that one gas station those are two places i've been to at Stratford. We go there, you know, probably just take her to the baseball field and say, man, this is when life was so much better.
Starting point is 01:00:51 High school was the best. And just really talk about those memories a lot. Sure. No, I mean, I don't think I have really anything to show her in the town. Maybe Joe's Diner. What's that? It's a diner probably.
Starting point is 01:01:02 Yeah. But is it good? Like, did you go there? Yeah, it was right next to the baseball Yeah. But is it good? Like, did you go there? It's just where everyone went. Yeah, it was right next to the baseball field. Were they open late? No. Did you go after the games?
Starting point is 01:01:09 Bummer. Yeah. Had to go in the daylight from what I remember. Yeah. But no, more just like to see and meet the family. It's going to be nice out. So Saturday morning, we're golfing. Me and Rachel against my dad and Uncle John.
Starting point is 01:01:22 Should be a good time. And then. You told me last night that your uncle john uses two batting gloves as golf apparently my i've never golfed with uncle john but my dad said uh just be prepared i mean what is the difference between a golf glove and a batting glove though honestly i mean i don't mind too much that it's uh a batting glove it's just two gloves i've never ever seen anyone ever use two gloves golfing. So that's great.
Starting point is 01:01:47 Okay. That's pretty funny. And then we'll have some driveway pickleball Saturday afternoon. Sure. It'll be great. You're going to teach her the street rules? Yeah, because the court is not what you'd call regulation. There's a tree in the way and there's no kitchen.
Starting point is 01:01:58 So it's not even really pickleball, but it should be fun. She'll do great. She's not competitive, so she won't care. She'll great yeah so yeah good weekend ahead fun and you're going to your you have a show too right oh that's right yeah oh yeah one more show between now and then yeah i got a just a one-off just random makeup show right yeah makeup because of weather show in durham because durham was scared of freezing rain yeah so it's 28 and it's snowing and icing rapidly so what yeah unless it's your birthday yeah come on out come on uh i've already had multiple ghosties uh hit me up though and be like hey i'm gonna be there see in the lobby great durham is where
Starting point is 01:02:36 duke carolina duke is chapel hill is north carolina yeah so that's fun maybe make a little coach k joke oh gotta something i'll think of something yeah okay fun like maybe if someone stands up and like start like go to the bathroom they're leaving just like coach k yeah that'll be interesting to see how many people like are duke people there and i think coach k is big enough to where even if you're not a duke fan if you're in the town it's like oh i'm supposed to care about this of course yeah I at least know that I know who it is yeah yeah what's going on with them it's not like a really niche like joke about one of their games or anything right uh but yeah so it was kind of fun or one of my best friends Alex Dimchek he hit
Starting point is 01:03:16 me up a couple days ago he's like dude I'm coming to Kansas City I'm gonna be there only like 24 hours I'll be there like all day Thursday and I was like dude i'm i that's the only time i will be gone is all day thursday so that's a bummer but yeah excited to get back do a show try some new stuff out a little bit or like try different very kind of just like preparing for the special yeah hey let's fine tune i probably should have been fine tuning this whole time but that's a part of it's like i want to give people a good show what they've been what they paid for so when is the special getting recorded like may May 14th, I think in Chicago. Pretty soon.
Starting point is 01:03:46 Can't wait. Yeah. Month from now. Heck yeah. So it's going to be awesome. Yeah. Maybe I should go to that one. That'd be cool.
Starting point is 01:03:53 Rachel's going to come. Okay. I think it'd be a really like just special night. Do you like, are you a little bit worried that you're going to like overdo it? Have you ever thought about that? Or like, you know, like, like,
Starting point is 01:04:06 I don't know. Yeah. That's my question. I guess, no, I haven't thought about the idea of overdoing it. I think I'll just be very conscientious while on stage of like, this is for the special,
Starting point is 01:04:15 this is for the special, you know, just like, don't say anything. That's like, this might land like an offhanded comment. Like just keep it clean, keep it tight.
Starting point is 01:04:24 Gotcha. Uh, but the nice part is it's a double header so both will get filmed and so you can okay one either chop them together sure but i was thinking about this in the shower tonight is what i think i'm gonna do is treat one show as a show that's getting um filmed for the sake of clips and then another show for the sake of like the show as an entire set. You're such a film editor. Like, yeah, no, this is more like distribution. Okay. This is like, but I'm saying like, cause you work with Trey, like you think that way I would. Oh, sure. I see. I think you have to these days. Cause like, I mean, short form stuff is like so popular. So you have to be posting short form stuff, but it's like, you know, okay, I have this 20 minutes set.
Starting point is 01:05:03 So, so I have to be strategic. So like, you know okay i have this 20 minute set so so i have to be strategic so like you know towards the end of my set when i'm telling the covid joke my final joke um in the middle of that i do a callback i say so two things happen first i said crikey yeah that is that's how it makes sense will not make any sense gotcha so i have to do one show where there's no callbacks i can't call back to an audience member i can't call back to an earlier joke right it's just straight up just like this is a bit in and of itself. Right. And then the next show is like, all right, this is going to be posted in its entirety. Leave it all in. That's smart. Yeah, that's very. Yeah, I would not have thought about that. Yeah, I thought of it tonight
Starting point is 01:05:35 to shower. Like, why did you say crikey? That's kind of funny because it's kind of an accent. But what was that? Why are people laughing? Yeah, that's kind of random. Unless. Yeah, no, I agree with the premise. The only thing that like devil's advocate is like, Hey, he looks like he's made an inside joke there. Let me go watch the other thing that he says, you know,
Starting point is 01:05:53 but that's not going to happen. That's going to happen 1% of the time. Yeah. Um, cool. Yeah. And so just trying to be strategic, make the most of it.
Starting point is 01:06:01 Yeah. Getting my stuff filmed from five different cameras. I forget what the answer to this is, but are you telling people telling people that uh you guys are going to be filming the special i don't know i think i definitely think we should i don't know if it's me exactly or if it's lucas or if it's just like an announcement that's made yeah it should probably be like travis actually who makes the announcement let's people know sorry dj travis refer to a mindful name people get a kick out it was like hey we're from the special tonight please like if the comedian like calls on you to like speak like by all means like have fun be yourself but unless you are called on don't be a goofus right um don't be a goofus rachel just said okay my eyes keep shutting i think i need to go to bed. Good night. Do you want to say anything back? Uh, I love you. Oh,
Starting point is 01:06:45 that caught me by surprise. It's funny. Last, last, you know, year, this time, last year, we were in Phoenix with Harrison and he's, you know, he's got this very serious girlfriend now. They were kind of serious at the time, but they were still kind of starting out and he was on the phone with her. And in the background I was just like, okay, I love you. Okay. Love you. Love you. And he got off the phone and he's like, dude,
Starting point is 01:07:16 you got to stop that because I almost said it. Dude, you got to stop that. Dude. Yeah. A year ago. We were U-Hauling. Yeah, dude. Anyway dude anyway um that's fun okay uh not gonna texture that yeah it's okay we'll move on i don't know what to say besides that that was a perfect answer move on uh there's a a couple voice memos that have trickled in love them let them trickle out yeah cool trickle. Trickle down. Hey, Jake and Brad. This is Alex from Alberta, Canada. Okay.
Starting point is 01:07:49 Big fan of the podcast. Started listening when Jake was on Walk in Love, and I have since become an avid fan. Shout out. You're welcome. Congratulations. I think you've been making some tables lately. Nothing else to note, but they look great. Three really big orders.
Starting point is 01:08:04 Quick question. My youth boys are graduating this year from grade 12 and I was wondering what's a good gift. I need a good balance between something that's heartfelt, something that's slightly faith inspired, something slightly funny. I need your suggestions for gifts with these guys. And yeah,
Starting point is 01:08:21 other than that, thank you. Love pod. Glad that's part of my weekly rotation and uh trying to work through them all so thank you very much okay cool bye cool bye alex cool guy thanks alex first of all love that he said grade 12 they are grade 12 finishers do they call them does it say university like they're going to university next year that's college oh sorry that's what they call college that is college that's what
Starting point is 01:08:46 they say in like europe and maybe canada um okay i mean so you're wanting a custom heartfelt gift maybe a slightly like somebody that has a little bit of a humor behind it um and maybe a little spiritual yes okay so i know this guy okay very well uh who makes custom gifts he's a christian himself he used to be a worship leader now he he like abandoned that to like you know make sexual innuendo jokes with his friend on a podcast every week um and he also makes these just i'm assuming these these kids of yours from grade 12 they eat food right i can ask but yeah i bet they do most people in the world are sustained by food right but man does not live on bread alone right did you just come up with that nope it's from the
Starting point is 01:09:37 bible jake oh worship i would know because i'm that guy get him some ellis custom creations custom cutting boards dude or even pop on over to Ellis custom gifts. Ellis custom gifts. A whole Instagram page dedicated just to that. That's right, baby. I have, I do have some cutting boards left guys.
Starting point is 01:09:52 So if you're wanting some, hit me up. We got a little, uh, we give a little discount. I can even engrave it. I put their name. I could,
Starting point is 01:09:58 I could put a funny quote. I could, I could misspell a Bible verse. So therefore it's funny and spiritual. I could put E F F E S so therefore it's funny and spiritual. I could put E-F-F-E-S-I-A-N-S, Ephesians. That's funny. That's funny and profitable for me. I think you get them an ESV study Bible with their name embroidered, engraved.
Starting point is 01:10:21 It's made of stone. Engraved. Etched. It's etched in um and then inside of the bible not only have you written them a note but there are some printed off pictures of you with the fellas printed off pictures yeah you don't see that much especially these guys yeah you don't see that and on the back of the picture you've written an inside joke bada bing bada boom all your bases are covered that's all right that's bases are covered. That's an all right answer. That's an all right answer. I mean, mine's better.
Starting point is 01:10:48 But like, hey, if you want to go back up plan, sure. Go ahead and go ESV Study Bible. Those are also really expensive. I mean, Alice in Custom Creation is pretty expensive. Well, okay. Third place. Popsicles. People love popsicles.
Starting point is 01:11:05 But custom made. We actually talked about this. Oh yeah, we did talk about this. It was Harris' idea, wasn't it? Yeah, he's the ideas guy. You should do ghosty popsicles. Yes, and they're the $5 jokes that we wrote. Maybe for our event this summer, we can do those.
Starting point is 01:11:18 Yes. And sell them. Is there some pun? Popsicle. YouTube comment. Think of what would the business be called that incorporates some... Oh, Brad?
Starting point is 01:11:29 I would like the YouTube comments to also... YouTube comment. Like, what would a popsicle joke company from Jake and Brad be called? Here's my idea. Because I got paid $5 to do them. $5 a popsicle. That's pretty good.
Starting point is 01:11:44 They're like, what? This is expensive for one popsicle that's pretty good they're like what this is this is expensive for one pop it's a five dollar joke you haven't heard the whole story the popsicle's free yeah the joke is if you don't ever look at the joke we'll give you your money back right but we think you're gonna want i mean it costs five dollars frozen yeah it's called a frozen asset you're gonna like it you're gonna want to get down there yeah and read it's five dollar joke five dollars a popsicle five dollars popsicle i'm not gonna top that all right there you go alex next is lindsey in the title of her voicemail says hawaii with a bunch of exclamation points fun what do you think it's about hawaii okay walk in love. Hey, Jake and Brad. This is Lindsay from Indianapolis.
Starting point is 01:12:26 I've left a couple of voicemails before, but here we are again. So my husband graduates from his MBA program in July and then he heads right into his busy season for work. So next February, we are going to Hawaii for almost 10 days to celebrate his graduation and we are going to Hawaii for almost 10 days to celebrate his graduation. And both of us are turning 30. And we are going to be leaving our two-year-old with my parents for about 10 days. So just kind of crazy. Aren't you? So anyway, we're planning to go to Oahu because we want to go see Pearl Harbor.
Starting point is 01:13:01 And then we're going to go to Maui because we want to do Road to Hana. But what else do we do? Because I don't know. Um, and I literally just went to Google just now and typed in Hawaii and I figured I probably need to do some more extensive research than that. Yeah. Let me know what you guys think. Cause I know you've both been, okay, thanks. Bye. How many exclamation points did you put on Hawaii? I just Googled Hawaii. Minus two year old. I love the idea of just like, all right. So me and my husband are going to be going on a vacation in almost March. And as we're going just shy of 10 days and with our son, who's not quite three, but more than one. And we're going to leave him at our kind of our house with kind of a babysitter
Starting point is 01:13:46 yeah um it's it's my mom and almost 10 days almost 10 days got me i'm gonna start i'm gonna start like uh like i almost had four of my biggest orders ever like yeah that sounds way better than three no i'm just kidding that's fun we We're almost you and Catherine. Almost four kids. Almost four. Almost four. Three. Almost four. I haven't seen you in forever, Brad.
Starting point is 01:14:09 How many kids you have? Just shy of four. Yeah. Just shy of four kids. So that's really great. Almost 10 days. How long you guys been married? How close?
Starting point is 01:14:21 Yeah, not quite 20 years, but more than seven so well somewhere in there i love those facts that are like uh k-state ranked in the top 17 in business schools in america wonder which one that's great yeah she's like my husband's graduated with his mba from indiana you know it's top seven in the country like that. Well, you know, she said my husband has almost graduated. Not till July. So she's big on like, can I, how far can I get until it's a real thing? That's good.
Starting point is 01:14:54 I want to know how many days they're staying in Hawaii. Like maybe it truly is like we were saying literally nine days and 23 hours. Well, they probably are flying in. Yeah. So it's like, you can't really count that as a day or something like that. Yeah. Just shy of, yeah. Just shy. She's like, we always roast people yeah just shy she's like we always
Starting point is 01:15:05 roast people and i can imagine like as we're roasting them they're like it really is almost a day it is seriously they don't they're making fun of me but it is it is it's like it's like it's like okay literally 13 minutes shy like it was funny but like i wish uh i might leave them another one technical about i'm gonna leave them another one leave us another one i'm gonna tell him next week always if you are yeah if you're out there listening to this and yeah you want to leave us another one leave us another one um that was good thanks you have the permission from brad um leave another one okay we've both been to both of these islands yes um i've never been to pearl harbor but i've heard it is good. It is good. My opinion. Okay. First of all, they don't say something anti-American. Okay. No,
Starting point is 01:15:49 of course not. No, I'm not gonna say anything about Pearl Harbor. Pearl Harbor is great. My opinion about and I like I think you said this to me when we were trying to figure out Hawaii, Catherine and I you're like Hawaii is amazing. If you don't know anything else, like you're gonna think wherever you go is amazing. Yeah. My opinion is O else, like you're going to think wherever you go is amazing.
Starting point is 01:16:05 Yeah. My opinion is Oahu, all you have to do is Pearl Harbor and then go to the other islands. That's silly. Why? All you have to do is Pearl Harbor? Yes. Oh, okay.
Starting point is 01:16:14 What else would you do there that you can't do as well in either Kauai or Maui? Oh, I see. I see what you're saying. My thought is like, like literally spend like less than a day in Oahu. Like go to go to Pearl Harbor. Do that because it's really impactful
Starting point is 01:16:32 and really great and cool. But then like everything else, like a cool view in Oahu is great, but it's like there's great views in Maui as well. I see what you're saying. And I think that the only thing there is to do.
Starting point is 01:16:44 No, no, no. In Oahu. So Oahu is like way bigger and more commercialized. And so like, if you want to go on a commercialized vacation, go to New York City or something, you know, like I wanted to get away from that stuff. And so Maui is way more chill. Kauai, I think, is even more chill than Maui, probably.
Starting point is 01:16:59 Yeah, Kauai is the best. If you're looking for like scenic views, it's not going to get better in Kauai. Maui is great too, but it was nothing like Oahu. Maui's pretty flat compared to Oahu and Kauai, but the road to Hana is great. So definitely do that.
Starting point is 01:17:12 Take a couple days to do road to Hana if you want. If you're only going to those two islands, take your time. Have fun. How would you do that in a couple days though? You'd do a lot of driving. You would turn around. You could do the road to Hana,
Starting point is 01:17:23 spend a lot of time at one beach, and turn around and like all right tomorrow we're doing the whole full lap around it's not a bad idea because at the end of road to hana is a national park yeah and i was really bummed you have to have reservations and it closed like 15 minutes before we got there like that's a bummer so if you want to do that lindianapolis get a reservation but yeah i i don't think oahu but you said this to me because originally we were just going to go to Oahu. And you're like, I mean, Oahu, that was where you went first in Hawaii. And you're like, that was awesome.
Starting point is 01:17:49 Yeah. But then you go to the other islands and you're like, oh. It gets better. Yeah. Yeah. It's like beautiful and not as commercialized. Less expensive. That's fun.
Starting point is 01:17:58 You're going to love it. No matter where you go, you're going to think it's amazing. All nine days. You're going to love it. All right. Let's do one more from Josh Katz, which I'm nervous about this i haven't listened to it and he was the one who commented like two episodes ago he's like jake that girlfriend you're that ex-girlfriend you're talking about i currently go to church with her i was like oh gosh well let's hear everything i
Starting point is 01:18:18 said was a joke let's see hey guys this is j Josh leaving a voice memo from Arkansas. And I have a question for you. Um, I have two groups of friends that I've hung out with separately almost my whole life. So one group is from the school that I went to and the other is from the church that I grew up in. And recently these two groups of friends have started hanging out with each other, which is awesome. I love it when my friend groups mix. Out of this, there's been a little rivalry between these two groups concerning which one knows me better. So since they both grew up with me, they both think that they know me the best. So in order to settle this debate, I am creating some trivia questions all about myself. And then I'm going to host some sort of trivia night
Starting point is 01:19:05 where these two groups can compete against each other. So my question for you is, what kinds of questions do you think I should include? And is there anything else I could do to make this night more memorable and more fun? I'm looking forward to hearing what you have to say. Love the pod. Bye. I think first thought I have is like,
Starting point is 01:19:23 as people are coming into the trivia night, you have some of your like favorite songs from your childhood playing in the background and then it's then later in the night they're quizzed on one of those songs love this love love the idea of like unintentional like like the whole time you need to have your guard up like hey bonus points if you commented on that song as you were walking in like things that like i'm not even gonna like say are really part of the test exactly like if you if you notice that uh word was misspelled or something you know whatever like yeah yeah yeah um my my first thought was um you know having a name for this trivia night and the name is do you know josh but since it's i'm a big alliteration
Starting point is 01:20:01 guy so it's gonna be juno josh juno Josh. Juno Josh. And so after every single question, like you're going to be like, you know, I had a dog from the ages of 10 to 14 and a half. He died tragically when I was doing, when I was playing what sport and in what city? Kaylee, Juno Josh. His last name is Katz. You can work, you work you know you do a lot with that too that's true
Starting point is 01:20:28 cats pajamas cats in the hats yeah cats in the cradle cats in the cradle cats cat snips that's good cat nips cat dystrophic
Starting point is 01:20:43 category 5 tornado F for G to 5 That's good. Catnips. Catastrophic. Category five. Tornado. F. Fujita five. Cats. Catsopolis. These are great.
Starting point is 01:20:54 Okay. Any of those. Juno Josh though. Juno Josh is the answer. J-O-U-K-N-O-W. Juno Josh. Juno Josh? Hey, Juno Josh?
Starting point is 01:21:03 Hey, Juno Josh? I like the idea of this because Josh, well, I liked just the first premise. Cause that's kind of happened in my life in the last two years is my best friend growing up. Scott sell has become like best friends with my friends, which is really fun because like Scott and I had a hiatus pretty, pretty much like, I mean, not intentionally, but just like life got in the way. I went to college one place. He went somewhere else where we didn't really hang out or talk for like, I don't know, five, six years. Like he was a groomsman at my wedding. Let's say almost six years. Let's say, yeah. Who knows how long it is because I'm terrible at dates, but genuinely, I, I, I don't know how long, like, but it was like one of those classic, like, I haven't really hung out with you
Starting point is 01:21:38 or talked to you much, but you're still going to be a groom for my wedding. Cause you're awesome. And you're my best friend. But, and then all of a sudden, I think, I think we just needed one more for basketball. And I was like, Scott will say, yes, Scott is that kind of guy. And then of course he's like, yeah, he drank the Kool-Aid and he's like, this is so fun. You guys are awesome. Like we were just reminiscing last night about like going to McDonald's after our basketball games and how much fun he thought that was. Um, he was like, I remember him texting me afterwards. He's like, dude, you got an awesome group of friends. Like, that's so cool. Yeah. I can just tell you guys like really have a lot of fun together. So anyway, it's, it's just cool, but also make sure that the rest of your friends don't get into a sport that he's really good at and that you don't have enough time to get good at
Starting point is 01:22:18 or else all your friends will like hang out with just Scott and and not you that's what happened to me golf we were going for kitten no um comes in the garage yeah thank you uh josh that'll be fun i think um maybe a style of some questions rather than just your typical trivia questions maybe you give them like a prompt or like a you know almost like an autobiography and they have to find the errors and they have to find the errors and find the correct answer like my favorite teacher was mrs lupita psych mrs lupita was a librarian there's there's a sidekick who's there psych she's on a mrs she was never married to mrs lupita yeah there's someone there who just there to say psych in the right answer.
Starting point is 01:23:06 Psych guy. Psych guy. Yeah. Psych kick. Oh, okay. Psych kick. Psych kick. Okay.
Starting point is 01:23:11 She's a little psychic. Psych. That was true. I mean, you obviously have to mix in like the classic questions with the newer questions because, you know, some people are going to know Josh back then better than people that are going to know. Like I could, I could, you know, think of questions that you know some people are going to know josh back then better than people that you know are going to know like i could i could you know think of questions that you would know better than scott but vice versa um can't have your friends play the shoe game that would bore everyone pretty quickly that could be fun i've committed you and me we need to play the shoe
Starting point is 01:23:39 game together sometime and let's make it as fun as possible okay does everyone know what that is it's very fun for the people competing it's like a classic zero fun for anyone else engagement party kind of thing like yeah each person gets another shoe the shoe of the other person they say a thing and you're supposed to who's the dirtiest oh i put her and she put me yeah we could do it though okay we can make it fun this summer pick a ball okayball shoe game pickleball shoe game uh yeah i don't know of other other questions with josh i want to hear more follow-up so it's another one yeah juno josh fun fun fun fun fun um cool make shirts always make shirts shirts are great yeah merch available tonight juno josh um yeah themed shirts fun uh let's see anything anything else you want to say brad on that or
Starting point is 01:24:27 just in general in general engine um i'm really pumped about this baby i mean obviously like that's probably no surprise to anybody i mean almost four that's exciting but i was thinking about it like i remember when we had hattie and i mean like when we had bow after having hattie for three years and it was like i can't imagine loving someone else as much as I love Hattie. Like it was like genuinely like a weird like thought to me before Bo was born. And then all of a sudden, of course, it's like, oh, I love Bo. So all over again. And then, yeah, it's like like your your love doesn't get divided.
Starting point is 01:24:57 Your love just like multiplies, you know, like and I like this time, you know, after learning about that with Bo, I'm just like, I'm so pumped about this new baby. So I'm just really pumped to be a dad of three. It's going to be, it's our, I can already tell. It's like, this is a different game. Like this is, this is going to be a way bigger jump from one to two. I think so. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:25:16 I don't know. I mean, so far it just feels like, first of all, Hattie was three, I think three versus Bo being just under two years old right now. Almost two. Yeah. Two under two. Like it's like a big bragging thing for parents. Like I got 202. Um, I mean, it's just a different, like Hattie was like, how he was reading Webster's dictionary at three years old. You know what I mean? Like she was like so responsible and so like more, um, self-sufficient. Whereas Bo is still just a little two-year-old that like, we can't understand him. You know, he's going to have more of an attitude still.
Starting point is 01:25:47 He's going to go through, I think more attention deprived, classic, like, you know, older sibling that just got a new baby kind of thing. So I'm assuming, maybe I'm assuming the worst of my son, but I think it's just going to be a different, different game for sure. But it's going to be awesome. What are you calling the baby? You calling a Rose, Rosie? Yeah. Catherine kind of got on me the other day. She's like, we're, we're, we're calling her Rosie. Right. And I was like, I don't, I think I'm going to call her both. So I think a lot of times it just depends on if I want the one syllable of the two, which I know sounds kind of weird, but like I call Hattie hat a lot, like in just like, Hey hat, you know, like whatever. So it just depends. But I
Starting point is 01:26:21 think Catherine's very strong. Rosie, I'm about 50 50 50 50 yeah okay can't wait for you to meet her someday man oh yeah rachel saw me last night she gave me a big hug she's like i gotta say congratulations never got a hug from you about rosie dude never not even one does it make you feel better if i tell you rachel's never hugged me yeah okay well lucky what'd it feel like yeah how was it it was nice two arms over the top half and half i think you want to die i think we diagged it that's good that's that's what you do once you're married well that's the friendliest way i think if you're if a man's just fully engulfing a girl like up top two over the top that's like that's like classic like ninth grade like you're you're flirting with the girl. Get in here. Come on.
Starting point is 01:27:08 So I can't remember for sure, though, Rachel, so I'm sorry if that's what I did. Oopsie-daisy. No, I'm just excited to be a dad of three and see what the future holds with us. Cool. Yeah, what about you? Got any more thoughts about not being a dad of three? Yeah. I mean, currently I have almost one that I would want someday. Almost one that I was thinking about having someday. I would love to have someday. Yeah. I don't think I have any other family-based thoughts or any thoughts really. Like I said, said uh been podcasting a lot recently still
Starting point is 01:27:46 tried to bring the energy tonight but sorry if it was a little little different than normal but no still fun still a good time heck yeah let's get on to our reviews of the week okay would you like to do that brad yeah let me pull mine up uh mine is coming from josie kemp josie said, the review is called baby born in the backseat. And it's a five-star review. Um, after listening to your most recent episode on Brad and Catherine's home birth, I decided it's time to leave an official review. I've been listening to ghost runners for a couple of years now, and they have encouraged me through some long, hard days as a mom of two babies born 14 months apart. Yes. There's a difference between like three months or three years old versus under two, two under
Starting point is 01:28:25 two. I left a voicemail about it, but my husband also delivered our baby girl by himself in our car. We had a 911 operator on the phone for about 50 seconds before she made her arrival. Start to finish. We had 50 minutes of labor. So I get everything transitioning fast. And Catherine's a champ for all the driving around.
Starting point is 01:28:41 Thank you for always bringing a smile and a laugh and building this fun community. God bless you both. Josie. Thank you, Jos bringing a smile and a laugh and building this fun community. God bless you both. Josie. Thank you, Josie. Jos. That reminds me of one more thing. Somebody sent me an Instagram DM this week, and I'm sorry for not remembering your name
Starting point is 01:28:54 or writing it down, but I wrote it down somewhere else, but I didn't write it down on my computer, so I'm just kidding. But somebody said, I can top your story. My wife was, I think she was 37 weeks, which is, you know, you're supposed to be 40 weeks when you have the baby, 37 weeks pregnant.
Starting point is 01:29:15 And she was walking across the street and a car hit her. And so she like went into like labor or like they had like to have like an emergency labor, like right after, like, like crazy hard. I think it was like going like 10 miles an hour or something like that. Yeah. But still just bumping a pregnant woman yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah and yeah they had the baby everything's good like literally no complications like everything's i mean as far as i know like nothing like major at least happened you know everything seems to be going okay but that's just that's insane like like literally i think she was like getting done with work or something walking back to her car and just got hit by another car. Like physically,
Starting point is 01:29:48 not like in an accident. Like she was, she was the person getting hit. I met a little baby boy recently and his name was Chevy. Yeah. You don't think, I think so. What, what did he look like? He, well one side of him was pretty beat up. Mm-hmm. That was him? Yep. Smart as a whip, though. Yeah. And, I mean, they can just get one of those things from the infomercial and just undid that thing.
Starting point is 01:30:12 You know? Yeah. Sweet little Chevy. I used to, actually, the last time I tried it was a year ago this weekend. It was the Phoenix shows. Before you got there, I tried to do this whole bit about my dogs that have died. Yeah. And about the different cars that hit them boy did people not
Starting point is 01:30:27 like that like it had to bail out of it yeah you can't you can't you can't like it's just yeah it's just people just sympathetic yeah if i had if i had farmers in the audience they would like yeah they would love it yeah so stop saying that pretty quickly uh mine is from selah pearly young brand new ghosties here hey it's funny that she started there hey the blonde girl with one hand up emoji brand new ghosties here i'm a big correct opinions fan i wanted to hear more so i wandered over to this podcast and was not disappointed listening to brad talked about being a father is the sweetest thing ever and it melts my heart oh brad apologize sorry about melting your heart just freeze it hearing jake interact with his fans is so kind of genuine
Starting point is 01:31:09 and makes me a bigger fan of y'all hope to see brad and jake on tour someday i hope so too pearly young i hope so too this reminded me i'm gonna try to keep like telling uh little cute things my kids do when people when people remind me of it um just so i can document it for my own sake uh bow recently has been blowing kisses cool which is fun but he only does it with two hands and so he looks like he's no it doesn't look like that it looks like he's sammy sosa remember how sammy sosa i forgot about sammy sosa and so i i saw him do that today and like the way he was doing it was like and i i started going like i started doing the sammy sosa hoping that he would learn how to catch on i forgot about
Starting point is 01:31:51 that i knew exactly what you meant justin put that overdub it in there put sammy sosa while anyway it's so cute though like because he cut right now he just kind of looks like he's like like a godfather or something like you know like thanks for stopping by kind of a piece you know whatever two fingers uh so anyway thank you for saying that i melt your heart and you reminded you to tell you that bow story yes all right would you like to end this episode with the jingle yes i would uh we got one from katie bennett oh yeah she's. Long time jingle writer. She's great. Okay. Ready?
Starting point is 01:32:26 I'm ready. Let's do it. Okay. Okay. Okay. When I told my friends and my mom and dad that I'm flying out to see Jay and Brad. They said, are you crazy? That sounds real strange. And I must admit that it's hard to explain. I think I'm funny and wise. They think I'm gonna die They just don't understand You can't make friends online
Starting point is 01:33:08 No matter what I say It's tricky to convey That I will be okay Yes, I will be okay I'm going to KC For some comedy It's gonna be just fine It's gonna... Going to KC for some comedy. It's gonna be just fine.
Starting point is 01:33:29 It's gonna... I won't be alone. You can track my phone. It's gonna be just fine. It's gonna be just fine. My dad said be cautious and don't get trafficked. I said that sounds like an overreaction. I won't get kidnapped in Kansas City. It's just a trip, not a dateline mystery.
Starting point is 01:34:02 They're not complete strangers and I'm not in danger virtual friends is all we've talked on video calls though I'm a grown adult their trust is only slight that I will be
Starting point is 01:34:20 alright yes I will be alright going to KC for some comedy It's gonna be just fine It's gonna be just fine I won't be alone You can track my phone I'm gonna be just fine
Starting point is 01:34:42 It's gonna be just fine, it's gonna be just fine Not staying out all night, just getting on a flight Not tagging LSD, just want some comedy Not doing alcohol, just playing pickleball Not joining a cartel, just going to F12. Going to KC for some comedy. It's gonna be just fine. It's gonna be just fine.
Starting point is 01:35:17 I won't be alone. You can track my phone. It's gonna be just fine. It's gonna be just fine. It's gonna be just fine. Cut. There's no breaks in that song. It's just completely singing the whole time. Breath, breath, breath.
Starting point is 01:35:40 There's no instrumental. I was listening to it earlier. I was like, I think I know this song. And I was like, I always have to like make a note of like okay you know four measures here whatever there's none of that here this is kind of interesting right interesting to me wait find another song that does that describe what you're saying exactly again like like there's no like you know sometimes like they'll play the chorus and then they'll play like four measures of just instrumental oh i see break there is words covering or the verse yeah yeah like it's like it's like the
Starting point is 01:36:09 chorus is over now it's the verse verse is over now it's a pre-chorus yeah it's over now it's the chorus like it's like now it's the bridge like it's a youtube vlog they're trying to like we don't want to lose them fill it in right you don't want to lose them. Brad, great job. Thank you. Katie Bennett. Thank you, Katie Bennett. Also a great job. She's impressive. She was in one of those. Oh, hey, PSA, everyone needs to join the Facebook group. Dude, I wrote that down.
Starting point is 01:36:33 I forgot to say it. I totally agree. Where'd you write it down at? In my notes. On your computer? Yeah. Oh, you should have brought it with you. I did.
Starting point is 01:36:41 It says Facebook group is amazing is what I put on here. Yeah, it's awesome. It's so good. It's amazing. I think there's been like 10 posts since yesterday. It's so good. It's amazing. Like I think there's been like 10 posts since yesterday, like when the podcast came out, it's amazing. Yeah, there's so good. And Katie Bennett was a featured actress in one of the videos after F12. She was great. That was by far the funniest part of that video. Yeah, she was great. Let me read this real fast. There's like five or six different people that I'm like, I mean, should we hire them for something? Like they're so funny. Every week there's people doing
Starting point is 01:37:04 something like, I mean, can we find a role for? Like, they're so funny. Every week there's people doing something like, I mean, can we find a role for them? They're just so great. Can I read her explanation for the writing of this jingle? You can read whatever you want. Let's see. It's inspired by a true story. We'll see if Spielberg picks up the movie rights. I was over at my parents' house for dinner the other week, and I mentioned that I'm going
Starting point is 01:37:18 to KC. They were very concerned and didn't understand why I'd go visit two guys from a podcast with friends I've met online. Somehow they think I'm going to get trafficked. LOL. Don't LOL that trick. Hey, granted, it does sound so much strange on paper, but I was caught off guard having to explain that it's really not that weird. And I'm a 26 year old grown adult who makes wise choices. I love my parents, but sometimes they worry more than I think is necessary.
