Starting point is 00:00:00 Welcome, everyone. Another episode of the podcast, episode 161. I gotta say something about golf. I know I've been talking about golf a lot real quick, but Scott, I feel like you'll appreciate this. Two things happened this week golfing. One, Isaac and I went out and I shot in the 70s again. Hello. Yeah, I thought you were about to curse. My goodness. Okay. Leave it out. But yeah, shot a 77. And two, we got paired with a father-son you would have loved i've never seen a man use wind as a complaint more in my life and it was it was as still out there as it is in this room right now and he just kept being like man this wind oh i thought it was blowing towards us when he would hit the ball just like so far past the hole 60 yards into the woods yeah he's like man
Starting point is 00:00:41 that cross breeze yeah that's what the jet stream stream and so isaac and i every time we get back to the cart like dude is this guy one time i was using my range finder he goes does that thing factor in wind like dude what kind of like instrument do you think he was so obsessed with the wind just like at all times you guys talking about the wind you guys you see that flag over there the wind's blowing that i mean just everything he was all about the wind so he pulls out his range finder. It's got one of those little things with the little cups that spins around. He has the wind speed.
Starting point is 00:01:10 It's called a Doppler radar. Okay. Hey, let me get out of your way here. Oh, no, no. Okay. Okay. Okay. Is this where I mess up the microphones?
Starting point is 00:01:26 Is this where I talk into the microphones about things that I don't like? Welcome. Yeah, this is, we were just getting started. This is the Get a Load of This Senior Citizen Comedy Club. So just in time, you can, if you have anything that you want to get off your chest, you can go ahead and just start us off with something. Hey! The other day, me and my wife.
Starting point is 00:01:52 Easy, easy, Bert. This is a children's show. Me and my wife, we went to Texas. We went to a restaurant called Texas Roadhouse. Yes, they have good rolls and butter. Incredible rolls. But you guys should not, would not believe this. Get a load of this.
Starting point is 00:02:16 They served me shelled peanuts. As many as I wanted. And when I said, where's the ball for me to discard the shells? They told me, throw them on the ground. I mean, get a load of that. Do you have any idea how slippery you penis shells can be
Starting point is 00:02:49 I don't think I've ever slipped on a peanut shell before you'll feel it one day when you're older ask your grandpaps I'm sorry to hear about that well thank you for getting that off your chest I think we might move on to a different
Starting point is 00:03:04 another thing I like to eat out a lot Well, thank you for getting that off your chest. I think we might move on to a different. Another thing. I like to eat out a lot. So I was at the Corner Cafe the other day. Okay. I ate there recently. Yeah. Good chicken and noodles.
Starting point is 00:03:14 Good for four-year-olds. Yeah. Well, I don't know about all that. Okay. Sorry. But I order my same thing every single day. Two scrambled eggs. One egg over easy.
Starting point is 00:03:29 That's a lot of eggs. One egg sunny side up. Hash browns. Toast diagonally cut with butter. Coffee and cream. They said, what kind of cream do you want oh here we go they had something called almond milk almond milk what is that it's half and half or nothing at all man that's i'm so sorry birch that is uh that is awful well thanks one more thing okay yes no sure
Starting point is 00:04:16 we've been saving up for a long time for a new purchase we got ourselves a brand new 2020 honda accord 17 000 miles on it okay great good investment yeah i go to transport my barbra streisand greatest hits compact disc no compact disc player oh no what'd you do i this player oh no what'd you do i uh-oh oh i know i think this tight beat means that it's going down with some random thoughts and white meat too then west best friends eating fast food on repeat so come along let's have some fun and go ahead get on your feet because it's the ghost it was me the whole time guys oh it's brad ellis of g-torts Comedy You don't have Spotify Bert? Spotify is a sham That Joe Rogan wants me to listen to
Starting point is 00:05:31 I don't support that I don't support any of it Wow are you serious? I don't even know what that is It's just a little dog that shows up on my radio That is confusing It's just a little dog that shows up on my radio. That is confusing. It's serious and then word doesn't even make sense.
Starting point is 00:05:51 X-em. Yeah. Ask my wife to pronounce it. She didn't know how either. Oh, no. Serious. Serious. Okay.
Starting point is 00:06:05 Okay. Well, I need to go to the quarter cafe now. Okay. Okay. Well, I need to go to the quarter cafe now. Okay. Hey, enjoy the eggs. Thank you for coming in. Appreciate it. Thank you. You'll make it out of the way this time?
Starting point is 00:06:16 Sonny. I've been on this planet for 88 years. Wow. You look good for 88. Wow. I've never asked anybody to get out of my way. I'd just run them over if I didn't want them there. Okay. Okay.
Starting point is 00:06:32 Back to me and Scott. Scott, something happened recently. So as you probably know, or maybe forget from time to time. And what's the deal with Russia? Russia. That's a little different than a CD player that's a different thing I Scott you were generous enough probably when I was on tour and wanted to watch Chiefs football you know seven months ago you're generous enough you gave me a
Starting point is 00:06:59 YouTube TV login very nice of you and you've been nice to let me keep at it, even though there have been multiple times where I click the wrong button and it says you're in New Jersey. Do you live here? And I click, yep. And like, oh, shoot, that's going to screw things up for the Peck household. Anyway, still logged in and Google, you know, very all inclusive,
Starting point is 00:07:20 you know, kind of a sandals. Jamaica. Oh, my gosh. That was fun to see anyway i'm not just signing your youtube tv like i'm now kind of have like some sort of access to all your google stuff by gmail oh yeah i've never like gotten into your gmail or anything but uh yesterday i got a notification that said people are loving your review. And there was a review. For Crumble Cookie?
Starting point is 00:07:49 For Crumble Cookie. There's a backstory. There's a backstory. Oh, let's read that, man. I have the notification. I have the screenshot. Like, it has just happened. It had been like minutes since he left a review.
Starting point is 00:08:02 It was that good of a review? Yeah. Can I explain a review? Yeah. Did I explain myself? No. Review first. Crumble cookies are truly the bee's knees. Bee's knees? Bee's knees.
Starting point is 00:08:19 Love the new flavors each week. Can't say I've ever had a cookie I didn't like. So happy to have another crumble in the Northland. Great service, great people, great cookies. Highly recommend. Ooh, the three greats. Bam. Wow. People are enjoying your review, Scott. That's good.
Starting point is 00:08:36 That sounded like Burt Lumpkin left that review. Great people, great service. So happy to have one in the Northland. Backstory behind that is a good friend of mine that I go to church with. I used to work for him actually just opened that franchise. Oh, yeah? So he texts me and says, hey, will you leave us a review?
Starting point is 00:08:56 I'll give you a free cookie. Oh. Say no more. Yeah. Where is this? I'm not just going to leave a five-star review and say, I love these cookies so i was like let's let's spice it up a little bit that's fair every time that i feel like i've had someone like hey can you help me out of the movie i'm like i'm still gonna inject some personality into this or whatever absolutely i didn't i didn't overload
Starting point is 00:09:18 it because i didn't want to make it seem disingenuous disingenuous disingenuous no i like that um what do you think about the idea of like every week you know ghosties submit uh businesses and then like hey this week everyone's going to write a five-star review for this company like like so like what if everyone like went to the crumble cookies dash what is it the liberty one or the gladstone one gladstone crumble cookies gladstone and just left a five-star review. I know that. Because that makes a huge, huge difference. Trevor Gerdes, my friend, would love that.
Starting point is 00:09:49 I'll tell you guys right now, leaving a five-star review for a small local company makes a huge, huge difference. Specifically in the wood industry. In the wood industry, yeah. In the cookies industry, you know. In the custom wood industry, custom cookies. So I know if you get a ton at once, Google's like, Whoa, Whoa, Whoa, Whoa,
Starting point is 00:10:06 Whoa. But if you know, they kind of trickle in and they seem like they could be legitimate customers then they'll allow it. Okay. Um, I think it was telling you and Trey this, I guess it would have been off the podcast. Uh, our friend Emily Lemke texted me a little bit ago. Um, she was the person who gave us the inspiration cause she went on a date with a guy who's kept saying, that's what's up. That's what's up. Um, she was the person who gave us the inspiration because she went on a date with a guy who's kept saying, that's what's up. That's what's up.
Starting point is 00:10:26 Um, so good friend, Emily. Um, she texts me and you know, is of course like, well, here's something funny. And then I'm like trying to guess that didn't work. Um, she said our boss showed everyone, um, kind of our new sales pitch that we're going to be running with all of our clients. And the main thing that they're like centering around is the testimonial you left and i'm thinking testimonial i left i'm like what in the world i was like i can't remember where this girl works yeah i go testimonial question question yeah she goes he shows it to every client he he
Starting point is 00:11:00 literally loves it and he has no idea you were being sarcastic. She's like, nine months ago, she asked me to leave a Google review. So I was like, okay, whatever. And all it is, five stars, Jake Triplett. I hope to someday raise my children with the same values that this place treats their customers with. Like, clearly, I don't know what they do. You know, it's like this just kind of just works for everything. And this guy, and it is kind of like tongue in cheek. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:11:24 It's a little like okay obviously that's not that like yeah the way they do facebook ads is how i want to teach my daughter respect the integrity that they target those audiences with is just second to none because they don't buy leads from like sketchy companies like they earn right the you know it's like i don't even know what this could be referring to and this guy just loves it so that's like one of the two reviews I think I've ever left anywhere. And it's getting tossed around whatever this company is. I think that's a great, like, yeah, just a great mad gab kind of review.
Starting point is 00:11:53 Like just fit, you know, fill in the blank. Like, Hey, if you can do this, then you can, you know, if they have this kind of qualities, they're great. Um, have you gotten any other Gmail notifications? That's actually, that's hilarious. Yeah. My Google account. I'm trying to think uh very rarely and every time it throws me off because i forget yeah you know it'll say something that's like not relevant or accurate to my life i'm like what in the oh scott scott it's a purple p he's pushing purple p plat county electric co-op bill
Starting point is 00:12:21 maybe that was it was that it were you putting black county electric pro bill i don't think it was that um that's great i like i like that you reviewed crumble cookies i like that i like even before knowing that you were helping the friend out i could see you love crumble cookies as much as anybody i know yeah i truly could be a salesman for them yeah maybe a franchise someday maybe yeah yeah if i could if i could have a percentage of every crumble cookie that i've like referred or sold that'd be a nice side hustle do you know did you ask your friend how much it cost to start a franchise yeah do you remember yeah he actually started two okay three quarters
Starting point is 00:13:02 of a mil for both for both dang together so 375 each right yeah 375 doesn't seem like that would take you a ton of time to earn back though i feel like your margins on cookies should be pretty good yeah yeah i mean those cookies are expensive i mean it's 13 for four pack i'm just like amazed about like the chick-fil-a model and how like you literally like the people that own quote unquote own those operate them. Don't have to put any money down at all. Really? Really?
Starting point is 00:13:29 And they just, they, they split the profits with the, with the, with Chick-fil-A corporate. But all they have to do from what I understand is you have to show that you have $10,000 in your bank account. That's all, cause that like to them resembles that you are able to save money and like manage money decently well to the point where you aren't just like living in debt or something. There's obviously a very thorough vetting process. Oh, that's the one thing. That's the one thing. How much money do you get?
Starting point is 00:13:56 You get a Chick-fil-A. You get a Chick-fil-A. Like Dwight, cause he never lies. That's all it takes. It's very selective. Yeah, totally. It's like, but still it's just like, I mean But still, it's just like being handed a bunch of money if you own a Chick-fil-A. Right?
Starting point is 00:14:10 It'd be so hard to mess up owning a Chick-fil-A. Crumble cookies, I would be a little more nervous at. And you're putting almost $400,000 of your own money in. $375,000. Might want to hang on to that one. That's an IOU. That's as good as money, money sir our word is our bond it's got a patreon video someday scott is doing the entire movie oh i love that we can come pretty close that'd be kind of fun next pandemic let's do that i had the idea for a patreon video where it's just like
Starting point is 00:14:39 rad quotes school of rock and i just like like do like random like things for school of rock in different voices i think you guys should do that for number number okay so no hang okay um guys right now it is 2 a.m we are recording this podcast um for you guys episode 161 and um wouldn't know it with our energy baby no no no no we're recording this quite a bit in advance of when you're listening to it so we don't know you know normally this podcast we talk about our weeks and what happened to us funny little things positive things but we don't know, you know, normally this podcast, we talk about our weeks and what happened to us. Funny little things, positive things, but we don't know
Starting point is 00:15:06 what's happened to us. Yeah. But we can guess. I went to the beach. I was just in Iowa and I, oh, I hope I got a picture
Starting point is 00:15:14 with scuzz. That's one of the things on my list. I want to find scuzz. Go swimming with scuzz. I want to swim with scuzz. Get the fleas off. You do a selfie?
Starting point is 00:15:21 Selfie with scuzz? Scuzzy self? Scuzzy self. Or are you going to go like, you know, yeah, group pic. You have Steve. Steve Coop. I don't think I want a selfie yet. Because I think I want some weird body language.
Starting point is 00:15:31 Like I want to get hit most of his body in it. I want my body in it. I would be curious what Skuz's shoes are. So yeah, please. I would like that. Yeah. Like what does a man who has fleas wear on his feet? You think Skuz wears shoes?
Starting point is 00:15:43 Yeah. He's got, I mean, he's a farmhand. He's got to have some shoes. He's got a hobbit feed. Really? No, I think he's got some, he's got some like work boots. We'll see. Hopefully I get a picture.
Starting point is 00:15:55 Like a hobbit. She's evil like a hobbit. Talking about Angela, I think. I don't know that one. And so that happened. And then I think, I don't know that one. And so that happened. And I think, I'm trying to think what else. Me and grandma killed it. And then the two-man golf scramble against the rest of the family.
Starting point is 00:16:13 Did you? Did she call you daddy? Caddy, Brad. Caddy. He still messes up those golf terms. My bad. Yeah, almost. One day when I get out there on the lungs.
Starting point is 00:16:24 The lungs, right? The lungs. What happened to you this this week brad i went to the beach and haddy discovered that she likes black olives excuse me she tried black olives on the beach she's like olives i'll try those and uh she said i love i love this i love this she went underwater uh she went underwater but not by force okay not by not by accident salt water is not the water you want to test going struggling which one synapses are not by choice is the right word she uh yeah she she was told hey there's a thousand dollars if you go you know just a little bit farther and she did and then um a shark just bopped her over that That's not true. There's a lie. It was a good time. We didn't get much sleep because my father-in-law decided to, you know,
Starting point is 00:17:13 sleep right in between us every night. And he snores a lot. Really? Is this the first time he slept in between you guys? As far as I know. Yeah. I'm a little bit of a deep sleeper, but I don't think it's happened before.
Starting point is 00:17:24 I found myself like one cheek on one cheek off. Cause we only had a double bed. And so it was, I mean, it was already tight with just me and Kath and all of a sudden Gary gets in there. I think about like, gotta be weird for you, but gotta be pretty weird for Kath. She actually seemed a little bit like too into it. Huh? Into it. And what state are you in? What state were you in when all this happened?
Starting point is 00:17:44 We were in Alabama. and i think that's that's it you acclimate really quickly down there yeah so i think that size of bed is just like the alabama twin yeah something and it's like what does that mean it's like you know what it means um we had a lot of wasabi peanuts uh which if you know they're very spicy uh bo accidentally tried one and um he had diarrhea the rest of the trip we just we just put him in the ocean and said it's your problem now birth have a squirt see you in 20 minutes you figured out mother nature like he slept out there we put him in an inner tube we moses them basically really we we put it like an anchor down in the ground but i can't get that far
Starting point is 00:18:22 you'd be surprised the tides yeah undertow yeah that's what that means uh rachel let me try it wasabi a couple months ago sushi place stuff is nuts it doesn't take much to really get sizzling it's like a liquid pop rocks ask scott what the experience was your experience was first time you tried wasabi uh yeah first time well i guess i had had wasabi before but I was on a date with a girl in high school and kind of trying to be funny and a little bit braggadocious. Oh yeah, we all know how braggadocious you were in high school. I was like, what if I just try a spoonful of wasabi?
Starting point is 00:18:57 Because if it goes well, obviously she's going to like it. She's going to make out with me. She'll definitely kiss me at the end of the night. If my mouth's on fire. Yeah. That was one of the more unpleasant. I mean, liquids coming out of every hole in my face. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:19:12 Basically. I love wasabi, but not that much. Have you ever had any experience like that where it's like, I regret eating that completely? Too much. In Uncle Week. So at Canna Cook, the first week before staff training week it's like all the veteran guys do like some other manual labor stuff uncle week there was a competition one time and it was like you got different points for doing different you know winning competitions or
Starting point is 00:19:35 whatever and then whoever has the most points at the end gets to choose prizes and stuff but uh somebody was like i'll give anybody five points if they eat this onion hole. I was like, that seems easy enough. Five points, five points. Terrible idea, dude. Like you ate it like an apple. I ate it.
Starting point is 00:19:52 And not only did I feel terrible, but I like my breath, obviously just for like five days, like it did not go away. It's like, I tasted it for so long. Yeah. So there's that.
Starting point is 00:20:03 I'll tell you one thing I don't regret doing because I never did it. Was that those lock-ins at your church where they would do like the root beer challenges? No way. Yeah. I just remember people getting halfway through and then just hacking into it. And I'm like, no. Yeah. I've never done a gallon challenge or anything like that.
Starting point is 00:20:19 You ever do one of those? Yeah. I think I tried to outsmart the system. And so I bought a half gallon of normal milk and a half gallon of chocolate milk so i was like with first i think i my thought was once i get i'll go white milk first yeah because then i'll probably tired of milk and i'll need a little boost with some brown milk yeah and um i remember drinking a ton of milk and never throwing up so just felt awful you never threw up i didn't drink
Starting point is 00:20:45 all of it so i didn't win the gallon challenge but you know i had maybe 60 of a gallon yeah that was curdling in there yeah that's probably good um and so i just kind of went to bed really yeah and you fell asleep like i would i feel like i would just be like oh dude sleep has never been a problem literally today i had a a coffee at 5 30 p.m on my way home and when i got home i took a nap yeah for like 24 minutes felt great like like approximately like 24 minutes when you can hit that nirvana of a power nap yeah it's incredible nasa did a study they said 26 minutes how do you do that though without like how do you do that i've never intentionally been able to do it right because. Because it's only been like,
Starting point is 00:21:26 if I fall asleep watching golf on a Sunday and then I like crowd starts clapping on, you know, some big shot. Yeah. I wake up and I'm like, Oh, it's only been 14 minutes.
Starting point is 00:21:34 And I'm like, wow, I feel incredible. Really? I don't need to go back to sleep. Well, cause I'll try to set my alarm for like, you know,
Starting point is 00:21:39 I'm like, I'm going to take a really quick nap, but then I don't fall asleep for like the first seven minutes. And all of a sudden you got to have a coffee. Dude. Coffee helps. Okay. You got a sudden you got to have a coffee. Dude, coffee helps. You got a coffee right before. Okay.
Starting point is 00:21:47 Okay. Just, just, yeah. Chug a few coffees. Yeah. Yeah. I just,
Starting point is 00:21:50 I just, I've never been able to do it intentionally. Like I'm going to say, I'm going to go to sleep at, take a nap at two 20 and wake up at two 46. That's what I would do. It does seem a bit random though. Sometimes I'll sleep for 25 minutes.
Starting point is 00:22:01 I'm like, I still feel tired. What the heck Naza. Um, but I also read something before where it's like technically maybe not technically but just like real optimist what would it be find it we'll find it um we'll edit in post okay just just put a blank in here and we'll get it later ideally you should you should sleep until you are no longer tired which feels like death to me like i'm just gonna keep sleeping i've never woken up that's not true but like almost every
Starting point is 00:22:32 single time i wake up and i'm just very tired yeah it's like more bed would be nice of course yeah so i don't know how you get to that point that's interesting i read that somewhere what what if that you just live your life that way? Like, hey, just FYI, I'm still tired. Got to go to bed. Yeah, I know. I know I need to go to my job, but I'm tired. So sorry. It's three o'clock in the afternoon.
Starting point is 00:22:51 Well, I'm going to take a nap. Yeah, I do. One hour nap. I have to. Scott has already said that he's not going to sleep tonight because he's playing pickleball in the morning. Playing pickleball on four out in less than four hours. Good for you.
Starting point is 00:23:04 And I still have a 40 minute drive home. Good for you. And I still have a 40-minute drive home. Good for you. I made me go like 50. Yeah, Scott's taking me home too. Wow. Nice guy. Wait, you made Scott drive here? Mm-hmm.
Starting point is 00:23:14 Nice. I don't know. I offered. What's wrong with that? Scott is coming all the way from Platte City. Oh, he's kind of on the way. He's got a Kia. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:23:22 He gets way better gas mileage than I do. Okay, okay, okay. I can chase down bad guys. That's right. How do stop losses work on Kraken? The only way we go home is together from new season now streaming exclusively on paramount plus you know what we should do now let's play a little game with dean ellis your dad my father yeah sorry yeah um a ghosty i think her name might have been jillian with a g gillian It could have been Jenny, actually, with a G. It was something like that.
Starting point is 00:25:27 It was something that was like, start with a G and then double consonant in the middle. Okay, Gabby. Hold on. Let's see. Gammy. Oh, Scott's got it. See if I'm right with the big G double cons. Isn't it funny?
Starting point is 00:25:40 Like, I can know things like that. Or like, I know it's two syllables. Or I know, like, I couldn't remember Lucas' name the other day when I was driving. It's two syllables, but I couldn't remember what it was for a second. Yeah, it is kind of fun how that works. Author is anonymous.
Starting point is 00:25:55 Thanks, Scott. Guys, guys, guys. Let me ruffle some papers here in the microphone. Turns out... She didn't write her name anywhere. Author. Author. Either way uh nice woman uh was at one of the shows and handed me an envelope and said this is the game for you and brad and so uh today was a rainy day literally it's been raining for a long
Starting point is 00:26:16 time in kansas city little word as a homeowner i'm like how's this up i'm doing is it can handle three days make sure it's running that's why i live upstairs. But so we're going to play a little game that she typed out. Brad, explain how the game is going to work. So basically it is guessing where a college in America is. She has like, I think it was 13 different colleges. And Jake and I are playing,
Starting point is 00:26:36 sorry, Jake and I are playing against my father. We were just having to guess the state that it is in. My dad has to guess like the city and the state. So we'll see how we do. i called my dad you know right before we recorded this and was like it was like 10 40 and he pretend he does this thing that he always does whenever i call him no matter what time of day he always acts like he's asleep like hello i'm like oh dad hey brad and then i i told him you know about this game he perked up pretty quick Perked up pretty quick It'll be fun to hear how he does
Starting point is 00:27:07 It was fun to hear him perk up Okay You're not going to go to bed anytime? No, it's fine, let's do it We did record this earlier in the night We did not record with him at 2.20 in the morning But he absolutely He's so fun
Starting point is 00:27:22 Thanks for Jilly and Ginny Gabby for making this game for us Hey there Dave but he absolutely, yeah, he's so fun. So thanks for, uh, Jillian, Jenny, uh, Gabby, uh, for making this game for us. Hey there, Dave.
Starting point is 00:27:29 Yep. Name of this game is where's that school. First one is Biola university. Oh gosh. Biola. That sounds like Los Angeles area. Biola university. Los Angeles area.
Starting point is 00:27:42 Dave says, so I guess we don't get to guess. Yeah. I guess our guest will be California. I was going to say it. Okay. Yeah. How should we do like the guesses, Scott?
Starting point is 00:27:52 Game master. You and I guess first. Okay. And then he says his answer. Yeah, that's fair. I like that. Yeah. Okay.
Starting point is 00:27:58 Okay. So you're guessing first and I'm guessing after you. First of all. Yes. Hot start, Dave. Hot start from the start it is in la mirada california which is just outside of las vegas california wow i mean my dad would never be able to pronounce la mirada so that's okay one for one dad all right next up north
Starting point is 00:28:21 central college okay dad don't say anything north central okay so north central is clearly north and central it could be any state though i don't think it's if it was in the midwest we would have heard of it you know there's got to be like idaho or something well sometimes like they do like north central for like the specific state like there's a southeastern college in kansas that's what i'm saying it could be anywhere okay it just could it could be and you know north central sounds like it's it's not flashy enough for like an east coast kind of like i think new mexico you think so i think it's that i think it's the mountain time zone oh i was thinking northern like north dakota okay well let's go i like your instinct uh our guest our guess is new mexico great dave what's Okay. Again, these are all small bicycles, but I think it's in the Chicago area.
Starting point is 00:29:08 Dang it. North Central. North Central. Naperville, Illinois. Dang it. Oh, dang it. Oh, jeez. All right.
Starting point is 00:29:17 How many of these are there? I think there's like nine. Okay. I think eventually we need to have a money round where all the points are quadrupled. Just in case. To keep us in it. 13. Okay.
Starting point is 00:29:30 We'll go quick. We'll go. Yeah. We'll think about it faster. What's the next step? We have Lindenwood University. Oh, Lindenwood. That's in AIA like around here.
Starting point is 00:29:40 But the thing is, my dad's going to know this for sure. They're in SBU's conference. So is that so around here? I mean, it's either Kansas or Missouri. I think St. Louis. Nah,
Starting point is 00:29:53 we wouldn't know. We, you wouldn't know if it was St. Louis. I would never know. Fun fact. We were just a quick trip before this. Let's go Missouri.
Starting point is 00:30:00 Let's go Missouri. Okay. Okay. Okay. Dave. Yeah. It's in St. Louis, Missouri okay okay Dave yeah it's it's in St. Louis
Starting point is 00:30:05 Missouri come on all right so I think we get a point dad does it yeah just just just
Starting point is 00:30:12 it's my game yeah St. Louis St. Charles St. Charles St. Charles Missouri great casino sorry dad
Starting point is 00:30:20 St. Louis St. Charles that's where my brother-in-law's from all right next up we have Wesleyan University oh Sorry, Dad. Suburb of St. Louis. St. Charles. That's where my brother-in-law's from. All right. Next up, we have Wesleyan University. Oh.
Starting point is 00:30:30 No, I've heard of Indian Wesleyan. Indiana Wesleyan. This is just Wesleyan. No, Wesleyan's northeast. Okay. Ted Mosby went there and how he met your mother. Keep going. Go off. So I think it's in Ithaca, New York.
Starting point is 00:30:40 Okay. I don't know for sure. Dean? Dave, what's your guess? I think it might be in Connecticut. Dang it. Dang it. Scott's like putting his hands on his head like, oh my gosh.
Starting point is 00:30:53 He's a savant. Middletown, Connecticut. Wow. Middletown, Connecticut, Dad. Very good. Okay. All right, this is our money round. Brad, you were right though.
Starting point is 00:31:02 You had the region. This is not a good one for a money round. I take it back. Okay, okay, okay. Normal round. We can take it back. This is not a good one for a money round. Oh, I take it back. Okay. Okay. Okay. Normal round. We can take it back.
Starting point is 00:31:07 If we, if we call a money round and we don't want it, we take it back. If you guys don't get this, I'll be very surprised. Rice University. Oh, Houston, Texas. I had no clue. Yes. Dad. Is that correct?
Starting point is 00:31:16 Yeah. Houston, Texas. All right. We got two. I had Rice Owls hat back in the day. That's a Division I school. Yeah. You know why I used to know that is because Glenn Rice Glenn Rice, I think, played for Houston for a bit.
Starting point is 00:31:28 Remember him? Oh, the Rockets. The Rockets. Oh, really? Yeah. I don't know. That's why it's called Rice University. It's after him.
Starting point is 00:31:35 All right. Next, we have Lawrence University. Arabia. Lawrence of Arabia. Right? Trick question. It's the United Arab Emirates. Lawrence. What's your... What's your... Really quick. Instant. Right. Trick question. United Arab Emirates. Lawrence.
Starting point is 00:31:47 What's your, what's your just really quick, instant go. Nevada. Nevada is our answer. Dave, you have an idea? I think it's in New York.
Starting point is 00:31:54 Dang it. Ah, we's got it. Oh, stop the swap. Appleton, Wisconsin. Oh,
Starting point is 00:32:02 Lawrence. Okay. Oh, really? That's good. That's good to know. They will never get that question wrong again. Yeah, it's like a spelling bee. All right, next is Barnard College.
Starting point is 00:32:14 Andy Barnard. Andy Barnard. It used to be called Barnyard, but then they ran out of letters one time on the little marquee sign, so they changed it. So Barnyard would be Alabama, Mississippi, something down there probably. I think right on the line, Alabama, Mississippi, half and half in the university there.
Starting point is 00:32:31 That's our guess. Alabama, Mississippi line. Yeah. Maybe you're a song. Dad, you know? No, I'll go back. I'll play New York again. New York City.
Starting point is 00:32:41 Oh my God. He's just playing the odds. He's like, I mean, there's a lot of people there. He's like, I'm going to go to California on this one. It's pretty amazing how like, I've never heard of these. I know. And dad's like, I'm pretty sure it's New York area. All right.
Starting point is 00:32:56 We should, everyone should get this as well too. Friends University. Oh, do you know? Oh, no. Friends University of Central Kansas is what it used to be called. Oh. Fun fact. Those are bad acts.
Starting point is 00:33:07 That's naughty. Wichita, Kansas is where that is. Dave, can you confirm? That's correct. It's got a beautiful admin building, right, Dad? Best one in Kansas. Best one in Kansas. Every time we drop by, we're like, best admin building in Kansas right there.
Starting point is 00:33:24 Yeah. It's like we just all knew that college because it's FU. Yeah. Yeah. So I don't care what's there. Money round? Money round. Here we go.
Starting point is 00:33:34 Money round. This one's worth double. Whitworth University. Gosh, don't read. This is the thing. We have no way of guessing. There's 50 states. Ohio? It's got an O in it. in it whitworth yes that's how it works which worth which worth which worth
Starting point is 00:33:52 which worth ohio dad i'm only guessing that i might have remembered this is it from walla walla washington walla walla washington classic dad calling it was Washington let me see where Walla Walla is at so it is in Spokane Washington don't know
Starting point is 00:34:11 where Walla Walla is ask my dad dad where's Walla Walla in comparison to Spokane I don't
Starting point is 00:34:16 I think it's close to Seattle I may be wrong okay got the state right Walla Walla
Starting point is 00:34:21 Walla Walla Washington that's farther south Washington so yeah next one's bonus Got the state right. Walla Walla. Walla Walla, Washington. That's farther south. Washington. You're wrong. So yeah. Next one's bonus.
Starting point is 00:34:29 Yeah. This one's worth five times as many points. This is the quintuple round. Bethel University. Oh. Okay. That's in Minnesota. Oh.
Starting point is 00:34:38 Crap. Nashville. What about the old Belmont? I was thinking Belmont. St. Cloud, Minnesota. Great. Charlie St. Cloud, Minnesota. I'm think it's St. Cloud, Minnesota. Great. Charlie, St. Cloud, Minnesota. I'm locked in on St. Cloud, Minnesota.
Starting point is 00:34:49 Final answer. It's outside of Minneapolis. And it's not St. Paul? It's St. Cloud? St. Cloud, I believe. Just making sure. A little quality control here. No, that's polity control.
Starting point is 00:34:59 Yeah. Are you saying Bethel University or Bethel College? Oh, that's a pro move. That's a pro move. Dave, I'd like to hear the answers for both, please. Bethel University or Bethel College? That's a pro move! That's a pro move! Dave, I'd like to hear the answers for both, please. Bethel University. Yeah, Bethel University is up in Minnesota. Bethel College is in
Starting point is 00:35:13 Kansas. Oh, wow. Bethel University, just outside of Minneapolis. Is it St. Cloud? I don't know where St. Cloud is. It's right by St. Paul. You can't see what city it's in? It says Arden Hills.
Starting point is 00:35:29 Oh, dang it. I'm so helpless in this game. I don't even know why I'm here. How many more we got, Scotty? We got three more. All right, three more. Lightning rounds. Hold on.
Starting point is 00:35:40 Dave's got to go to bed. You watching Jimmy Fallon, Dad? I was. Yeah. Jimmy Fallon, Dad? I was. How's he doing tonight? How was the opening monologue? Yeah. I used this as a monologue thing after it.
Starting point is 00:35:56 I remember good memories of my dad watching Jay Leno and just like I just hear him kind of laughing from the other room. He's like, Jay Leno, he's like he's like sometimes i'll be like that jay little or not he got me good on that one all right next one is wofford college we've seen these guys yeah i was gonna say yeah wofford well jim or fredette is taking one or wofford is if if we've if yeah if they're d1 then my dad's got it uh wofford college colorado
Starting point is 00:36:23 i feel like there's a lot. I don't even know why I'm guessing. Just do whatever you want to do. We're going East Coast. We're going Pennsylvania. Great. Dave? I think it's in Spartanburg, South Carolina. My goodness. Spartanburg. Nailed it, baby.
Starting point is 00:36:39 Last time I was in Spartanburg, I think I went on that. That's a Division I basketball. I mean, we're going up against like a certified savant in a game that he's best at. It's like I'm playing a chess master right now. Certified savant. Lipscomb University. Nashville, Tennessee.
Starting point is 00:37:01 Nashville, Tennessee, final answer. That's correct. Come on. Nailed it. I have one point. That's a Division I also. I have. Dad? That's correct. Good. Come on. Nailed it. I have one point. I have one. Last one, guys. Hope College.
Starting point is 00:37:12 Oh, that's in. Hope Floats. That's north. That's Michigan. Okay. St. Cloud. St. Cloud, Michigan. Upper Peninsula.
Starting point is 00:37:19 Traverse City, Michigan. Traverse City, Michigan. Just for the I'm Down Boys. Dad, do you know? Dean? Yeah, it's in Michigan. I'm not sure what city it is. Holland? Holland, Michigan. Just for the I'm Down Boys. Dad, do you know? Dean? Yeah, it's in Michigan. I know what city it is. Holland?
Starting point is 00:37:26 Holland, Michigan. Oh, my gosh. Oh, my gosh. Oh, my gosh. Dave wins. Sorry, guys. Yeah. Dave wins by a mile.
Starting point is 00:37:34 We ended strong. He ended stronger. That was fun, Dad. I appreciate you showing off your skills. I don't think I ever mentioned this on the podcast, but I had a bet like that there's no way my dad could mention or could name all 68 teams in the ncaa tournament and not only did he do it like i think you missed one dad but i think you missed it because i didn't
Starting point is 00:37:56 write it down but he did it like in like three minutes because he could do it geographically because he knew where every single college was and so he was just able to like basically go throughout the united states and get them all and it was it was i i underestimated my own dad and he just nailed it so yeah you know i know i know where every school and every community college is in kansas too so yeah oh sure okay that's your home turf you know you gotta all right dad, we love you. Thanks for. Am I on the podcast now? You're on it right now, baby. You got anything else you want to say?
Starting point is 00:38:30 I'm on the podcast. Hang in there. Hang in there. Hang in there. Have a good night. All right. Love you, dad. Talk to you later.
Starting point is 00:38:36 Love you too. All right. Bye. Bye. All right. That was fun. And not only did we learn about the colleges, I think we all learned a little bit about ourselves. I know I did.
Starting point is 00:38:47 Scott? Lips comb. Lips comb. Crazy word. Crazy word, really uncomfortable to do. Yeah, have you ever tried to comb your lips? Talk with the hand, teeth in the lips. Should we go to some voice moments?
Starting point is 00:39:03 We haven't done that in a few weeks. Yep. There's a little bit of pause there. Are you sure? Oh, yeah. Oh, do it again. Hey, guys. Quick thought.
Starting point is 00:39:12 We've got a few weeks. Should we do some voice moments? Let's do it, man. Yeah, let's go. That's what I'm talking about. Thank you. Here we go. This one's from Gavin.
Starting point is 00:39:18 Hi, Jake and Brad. It's Gavin from Birmingham. And I have a question for other listeners and for you guys good if you could buy one episode as an nft how much would you pay for it and which episode would it be? My episode would be Guess Where It's Wet. We're talking about our podcast. 133, I think, because that's the one where I gave Jake my review. Thanks, you guys. You improve my week a lot.
Starting point is 00:40:04 You're welcome Gavin alright that was CryptoGavDog on Twitter Brad what are your thoughts you're kind of our NFT guy what do you think tell them what it stands for NFT stands for non-fungible token
Starting point is 00:40:20 wow didn't think you would know it really I don't know remember that Scott Caldwell when he was like yeah Brad you're like a six out of ten as far as technology goes i was like thanks man that's really nice of you to think that i'm not smart with technology at all uh non-fungible token fungible meaning that other people can access it or funge it funge uh yeah that's the thing like non-fungible because everyone knows what fungible means. Oh, no. I got it, I got it, I got it, I got it. There's some things I can fund. These things you cannot.
Starting point is 00:40:48 No. Okay. Whenever he first asked the question about what episode I was thinking, like TV episode, I was not thinking me. I was like, okay, what's my favorite office episode? What's the best? I'm like Diversity Day probably. My own podcast episode that I would buy, which is funny because we own all of them already,
Starting point is 00:41:05 uh, would be probably the, uh, shoot, which one's the one where we're like, yeah, like, I guess you're getting used to this. And we're like, is that Karen at the airport? I think it is. Was it the same episode? That was probably a good episode then. I remember that LA trip. I remember going to, um, saddle ranch. That was where that story happened, but I don't know, maybe episode, but Karen at the airport's my answer. That was where that story happened, but I don't know. Maybe the episode, but. Karen at the airport's my answer. That's one of your favorites? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:41:27 And how much would you pay for it? Oh, very little. I don't care anything about NFTs. I would pay 27 cents. 27 cents. That is not much. No. I'm kind of in this middle ground where I was like, should I start? Should I care about NFTs? Should I learn about them? I know. I have like should I start should I care about nft should I learn about him? I know I have like a down down a ton the last like couple weeks, right? Yeah, just the idea of them of like cuz they're not it's not just like property
Starting point is 00:41:52 You know a lot of if you buy an empty like it's gonna get you something It's gonna grant you something, you know, so just like I didn't realize that like what's he gonna grant you? It depends on like the person, you know, like get you like access to exclusive clubs or oh You know musicians could give you an FTS that you know like get you like access to exclusive clubs or i mean you know musicians could give you nfts that you know give you tickets oh okay that's really soft you know whatever there's like there's a transaction that happens or will happen in the future okay so it's like this is kind of interesting but also like i don't know let's just let us know in the comments should we care about nft should we sell like a ghost runners like logo nft for something like ethereum like release like two of them can i just like screenshot in the future like screenshot
Starting point is 00:42:28 somebody's nft and then like that works as an nft just whoa you just found a loophole no one's ever thought of that probably not yeah just have a right click save image as yeah just have a jpeg a jpeg is the same thing as an nft like save file as you know just. Save file as just to download. NFT,.nft. Make a folder if you end up doing this more. And then you just have an NFT downloads folder. Like I get like the Adobe PDF, like, you know. Acrobat Reader. Acrobat Reader.
Starting point is 00:42:54 Acrobat Reader. I know. Acrobat Reader. I think that's genius. Yeah. Then you would just own like a bunch of like bored apes if you want. Just right click. Perfect. Perfect.
Starting point is 00:43:02 Great. Guys, don't worry about the comments. We figured it out. We're freaking rich. Okay. Here's another one from maggie thank you gavin hey jake and broad my name is maggie i'm from nashville i live in ohio right now um but from ohio i'm going down to k country right now for work week and i'm super excited about it um i'm driving which kind of is you know i'm sure you can hear that sorry about about it. But I was wondering what you guys loved about working at camp and what you hated about working at camp. And if you recommend it, why or why not?
Starting point is 00:43:36 Thanks, you guys, for keeping me company. She's on her way to a place and is asking us, like, so did you guys hate it? Like, would you recommend me do this or should I turn around? Yeah. You have about an hour and a half to tell me if you hated it. Maggie, I think, you know, I think, you know, that you're in the right place. Brad, I have nothing but amazing things to say about Canicook. We were actually just talking the other day, like Brad met his babe there.
Starting point is 00:44:00 Oh yeah. And like just all the different things that have happened in our life and how so many of them lead back to our decision to work at camp. Oh yeah. You and I were talking about that. Yeah. Yeah. Um, so yes, I would recommend it very, very much. So for a million reasons, um, I'm trying to think of, I mean, I could talk for a long time about things. I love things I hated. Hate is way too strong a word, but I did not enjoy. enjoy yeah the few times where kids would wake me up being like hey i peed i peed in my bed cool it's 3 a.m could you not just sit in it for a while no just prepared you for now though it really did i mean no that's one of the things i loved
Starting point is 00:44:38 about it was like yeah it absolutely like teaches you lessons towards parenthood and um but yeah just those kind of just not like just the hygiene little kid things where like some kid actually i should say i appreciate the kids that told me when they pee their bed because some people don't yeah that's the worst throw it in their you know dirty clothes and like and just smell it like four days later yeah everything's like why does it smell bad in our cabin yeah why. Why is it stinking here, guys? It's 98 degrees with a bunch of little kids. It should be smelling good. Yeah. But there's, I mean, I guess like jokingly things I hated. There were, I mean, a few different like responsibilities throughout the day that you never, like you never wanted to be on tramp.
Starting point is 00:45:17 I hated like being in charge of like the tramp clap. Really? Dude, there was a basketball goal there. Yeah, but you got to remember. So like Jake worked with middle schoolers. I worked with seven to 10 year olds. And so I, yeah, I could, I could do dunk competitions with my other guy that's working with me.
Starting point is 00:45:34 But then once the kids come, they can't even like make it into like, like hit the rim with their basketball. And so it's like, this is awesome. And it's really hot, you know, whatever.
Starting point is 00:45:43 So gotta get creative. Yeah. Like I would, I would double bounce them yeah yeah and that wouldn't that made it go way too high um yeah it's stuck in the back yeah um but yeah there's not really a whole lot that i i can think of that i really dislike you were talking that you didn't like when they get air conditioning you're telling me off the podcast. That's true. Yeah. I, I got really like frustrated. And so old man curmudgeon-y, they started putting air conditioning, like units in the cabins. And when you don't have air conditioning at all for like the entire summer, you don't realize how hot it is. You just get used to the heat. But then once you go from, you know, 65 degrees back into a hundred degrees back and forth and back and forth, you realize like, Oh forth you realize like oh it's like
Starting point is 00:46:25 it's like suffocatingly hot out here all the time and so i was really frustrated i did i like i was okay with a fan at night but besides that i was like i don't want air conditioning in here so i never did with my cabins because i was leadership by the time they put them in that's what i felt too and then i was like you guys don't know i used to like i would right i would nap in my own sweat. There'd be a pool of sweat, like in like the small of your back. Yeah. As well as sweat would run.
Starting point is 00:46:51 I still think I like kind of enjoy the heat more because of camp. Like I would much rather live in a hundred degree heat than, you know, whatever, 45, 50 degrees. All your seven-year-olds show up and say, welcome to the sweat lodge. Old fashioned sweat lodge. Yeah. No, I mean everything was it's so fun
Starting point is 00:47:07 I uh yeah it's hard to think of things I didn't like but I did think of something which I'll tell like I guess
Starting point is 00:47:13 some of the story I've can almost guarantee I've never told this story on the podcast or anywhere so in my six
Starting point is 00:47:19 years working at camp even like years like before and after I worked you know like sharing stories I've never heard of anyone getting fired or being let go oh really except for one summer okay my co-counselor
Starting point is 00:47:31 so in the one he was the one guy in like my entire time that had to be let go and like nothing bad nothing scandalous um which is bad at his job yeah he was just like it was like how do you get hired terrible yeah to like not do anything even close to criminally wrong and still get sent home. Yeah, you gotta be pretty bad your job so he was just like So you'll appreciate this so air anyone with kids probably like it's sort of you know at the end of the day They have been outside. They've been doing sports. They've been maybe they just did a Western dance with girls I mean they riled up and this is what you try to get the most serious like we're gonna have a devo everyone sit on the ground sure um and what's happening constantly hey trevor sit up sit up totally caleb hey pay attention my co-counselor uh what were we
Starting point is 00:48:15 gonna call his name aaron aaron he would be like laying down with three a's with three a's a-r-a-n his parents wanted him to be at the front of the line always and he would be like laying in bed that was this is like a small thing though it's like yeah the kids are behaving why aren't you here oh they get yeah the kids are doing better than you they're all down here why are you in bed right now like aaron do you want to come that's like that's like classic like yeah staff training 101 is like hey like they will do whatever you're doing so if you act that way by example it's so clear so it was just like weird stuff like that like why are you not joining us
Starting point is 00:48:50 and um like he's not interested at all yeah just i could point to a bunch of tiny little things that were funny but one thing that um me and one of my friends still laugh about is he yeah kind of been struggling at a camp and so he was given like an extra day off and when he got back we're like hey how was your two four and he's like it was really good we're like oh did you get to rest he goes not really i just ran a bunch i'm like oh okay you say you ran a bunch we're like how much did you run i kid you not this is the exact number he told us because we still laugh about it wait Wait, wits and wagers real quick. Scott, my guess. He ran 50 miles.
Starting point is 00:49:31 Okay. I'm going to say five. Okay. So, wow. That would be fun. Aaron, that's awesome. Like how much did you run? 72 miles.
Starting point is 00:49:44 In 48 hours? 24 hours. Oh, 24 oh 24 hours yeah how was your two for good question we had when we played with luke is like how many miles can you run in a day as a human run yeah i think that was an actual question either way so he told us that on his day off that he was an extra job that was given to him to rest up he ran 72 miles he claims so that was just like all right you're dude you're already on the fence of with this job and now like you're just clearly lying like what a weird thing and so um yeah ended up just like he was let go and did you did you like kind of rat him out not rat him out but like did they ask like hey is he doing a good job and you're like no he's not at all yeah i was pretty honest i was like no this sucks this is my worst
Starting point is 00:50:28 i've ever had and aaron is my co-counselor is it is really really hard right now um i was your first co-counselor no this is my second summer so it was fine but it really at least had like a standard then of like okay it doesn't have to be this way yeah right this is also the story that i think i've alluded to before so i remember i was going on a two four and they and this kind of broke my heart my campers were begging me not to go i mean they kind of do that sometimes they're like no we don't need to leave this was like hey seriously don't leave us with aaron like we need i don't know what's gonna happen if you're gone and well two things happen one this is when uh i remember his name still.
Starting point is 00:51:05 His name was Jack. That's when Jack Waffle stopped in the shower. And I was like, dude, why'd you do that? He's like, Aaron said I could. I was like, of course he did. Gosh, this cabin was just nuts. And then anyway, what got him fired is like one of our assistant directors was like sitting on the front porch, like eavesdropping on his Devo. And I guess it was just awful.
Starting point is 00:51:25 Oh, like without me there. You know, it was just like, dude, what are you talking about? Theologically. Yeah. Just like talking about like, you know, the movie 300 or so, you know, it's like, dude, if it's not the Bible, then don't probably don't bring it up, you know, whatever. Well, I think that's a, that's a huge compliment to you. I mean, because on the other side, when you're on leadership, like, did you help like with the cabin assignments and stuff?
Starting point is 00:51:48 Like, oh, sure. I mean, you always put like the best counselors with the ones that you think are the weakest oh i didn't think about that hey thanks so i mean they must have thought highly of you thanks so i mean hey glass half full glass half full uh just real quick what are like highlights favorite things from camp that you can think of mine i mean i got my start like being on stage in front of people i can't yeah and i mean the the way that i mean this sounds so selfish and obviously like the deeper spiritual aspect is way more important this but like the way that kids treat you when you're like a programs guy at camp it's like i was bigger than justin bieber like everywhere i drove know, everywhere I went at camp, everyone would say hi to me and like, you know, want to hang out with me and talk to me. And it was just like, it was so fun.
Starting point is 00:52:30 You know, I just enjoyed that so much. Just, you know, being in front of people and making people laugh. And also just like the creativity, especially at K country. I don't know about the rest of them, but like K country, it's just so much more about like making this as memorable and as crazy as possible because they're a little kid, like middle schoolers, they'll be excited. If you just put a girl and a guy in the same room together, it's like, sweet. Whoa. Wild West party. We can dance with a girl. Awesome. Like that's all it takes, you know, not all it takes, but, um, with us, it was like, let's get as creative and as
Starting point is 00:53:01 wild as memorable as possible. And so I feel like i really learned how to like push the boundaries of what can we do because i was always like that's fine like good enough their kids are gonna like like we probably can't get that anyway and then people will be like no we can buy that or we can make that or we can learn how to do this let's spend you know two weeks learning this thing um so that that was always fun just to see you know the expansion of skill sets and creativity and stuff like that. Totally. Which is so cool that we had the same job too, just at different camps.
Starting point is 00:53:30 Cause I feel the same way. Like having that job eventually, like my last four summers, it just, it revealed a part of my brain that I hadn't really accessed yet. Yes. Like being on stage, being creative, being like entertaining. Like I grew up, it was sports, sports, sports, maybe a little math thrown in, maybe a little speech impediment. Oh, I am not that good at algebra you know like whatever um but you know so much
Starting point is 00:53:50 of it was performing in that sense it was team sports and all of a sudden it's like hey we think you're really funny would you like to improvise a rap in front of everyone it's like i guess this is who i am now yeah you know it really just like just kind of switched you know how i believed in myself um but yeah the same way too is like really going above and beyond like my job was to make memories and i did it the best i could i mean i remember that's kind of how i met gunner is because word got around like that he would come to he would bring his friends and come to k-west parties nice you know we got the local fire truck to come and like shoot water out of the pool back into the pool
Starting point is 00:54:22 that was when i electrocuted myself for the second time in my life that's a fun story um i remember 2013 the party was madagascar monsoon i'll never forget lindsey porter girls gone mild she uh was like this is better than any like date party i've ever been to that's like a college i still remember her saying that and i was like cool we're gonna be influencers one day she's like what's up and i was like just just subscribe to tray can and you'll get there you're like I'm fine I'll tell you later that is fun to think about like how you were sports like you were kind of your identity was in sports like totally not like obviously we're doing this comedy podcast like I wouldn't say that I mean we were goofy growing up but I wasn't like oh Brad's like the funniest guy ever you know
Starting point is 00:55:04 anything like that and I think I kind of came into my own at Keanu cook as well. Like, see, I would assume you more had it the whole time. Well, I mean, I, I, I definitely did, but I wasn't like, Hey, let me get out in front of everybody. And like, yeah, let me, let me perform at the talent show and let me, you know, whatever it was just like, like with Scott and I, yeah, we were joking around and being goofy. You've definitely upped your hilarity. I've upped my hilarity. Yeah. I was voted most likely to be on SNL in eighth grade, ninth grade.
Starting point is 00:55:31 Whoa. So that was, so I, somebody thought I was funny. Yeah. But, but yeah, I think I've learned, you know, how to be goofier and funnier and stuff. And more like confident, I think. I think I learned a lot of confidence through camp as well, just because like, there's so much just yeah. Positivity and reinforcement and encouragement of like, you're awesome, man. Like you're doing great. You know, I don't know. It's just the friendships you make that. Yeah. The guy's there. I'm just, they're some of my best friends still today. Yeah. Even though I like have probably hung out
Starting point is 00:56:00 with them one 10th, as much as I've hung out with a lot of other friends, you know, in my life. When you get a phone call over from someone at Kanaka, you know, an old friend, like, I mean, I got one today, you know, Ty Gatewood called me. It's life-giving. Oh, I have to, you know, so no, we could talk about Kanaka. We do a whole separate podcast on our memories. Totally. I would love that. So basically if you're a parent out there, send your kids to Kanaka, look into it. If you're a college student, do it. If you're a high schooler, just wait. Yeah. It's so great. Yeah. That's like one of those things where like, I'm going to invest in my children through
Starting point is 00:56:30 Kinect. Like, I don't care if, you know, we don't have any money for anything else. Like, if we don't go on vacation, but they go to camp every day. Sweet. Way. Yeah. I, uh, I'm excited. It saves me a 15 hour drive. We'll have to pat anyone down, you know, if they follow me too close. That's right. Rachel's never been to Branson. I'm so excited to take her this summer. I want to make sure I can go when I can visit camp. Her dad reminds me a lot of
Starting point is 00:56:52 Ward Weeby. I'm excited, you know, so 4th of July? Maybe? That's what everyone else visits, so I don't want to get too crowded and make it hectic for them, so I don't know. You should come. I'm trying to get Harrison and Abby to come with us too because I think that'd be fun. Yeah, I'd love to. I was thinking about going 4th of July, but we can figure out. We I don't know. You should come. I'm trying to get Harrison and Abby to come with us too. Cause I think that'd be fun. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:57:05 I would love to. I was thinking about going fourth July, but we can figure out a table, walk, lake next week, table, walk, lake,
Starting point is 00:57:11 table, walk, lake is good. I need you to change my perspective on Branson. Oh, I see. That's the thing. Like,
Starting point is 00:57:17 cause I've had, I love, I love Branson too, but, but I, I loved it. Oh, okay.
Starting point is 00:57:22 Before Canicuck, like when we went to young Christians weekend. Yeah. Oh, it was fun. But like, but now it's like skilletuck, like when we went to young Christians weekend. Yeah. Oh, it was fun. But like, but now it's like skillet. Oh,
Starting point is 00:57:28 I could live there in a heartbeat. Like I can absolutely live in Branson. Yeah. I need you guys to do that for me because two out of the last three trips I've had to Branson have been miserable. Why? What about one of them? Was a timeshare vacation that I surprised Sam with.
Starting point is 00:57:45 You didn't have a good time. No, so it was actually happened because of the golf show. So you know how when you walk into the golf show, you just get accosted by people to sign up for stuff. I got accosted by a Gene Schwartz subscriber the second I walked in the golf show. Yeah, but I signed up for something. I entered my phone number and email,
Starting point is 00:58:01 and I get a call the next week. Hey, you're one of our top three winners to get a three-day two-night stay down to branson at this new like cape cod village timeshare recently this was like a couple years after we got married okay i was gonna say it was in like 2016 maybe that seems like a like a somewhat newly married move yes like free vacation i was like oh this is great like i'll surprise sam with it yeah yeah good for you and yeah we thought we're gonna be staying in this like little cape cod village these really cool little houses we get stuck in the first branson inn which i think was the first
Starting point is 00:58:36 hotel in branson i mean they called that for a reason yeah it was jank beyond belief and then we had to sit through the two- hour timeshare presentation which was painfully awkward I mean this guy's story was so sad that it bordered on unbelievable wife died of cancer single dad veteran
Starting point is 00:58:56 all these things I was like didn't have eyes once we turned him down for the 13th time he like just shut down and we went on the tour to see the place and he just like wouldn't even make eye contact well that's that's the last that's the last ditch effort i was like get me out of here have i talked about on the podcast how i did a time shared thing in florida one time that sounds kind of familiar like and i like i looked it up beforehand because it was like a free hotel we
Starting point is 00:59:24 were going to michael sloan's wedding free hotel and it was like here's what you say to these people they're like oh yeah they're like they're like uh how much you know like do you guys plan on going on vacation a lot like no this is the only time i've ever been on vacation like oh do you want to take vacation with your family in the future no i would never want to take vacation like uh you know how much money do you want to spend on vacation uh zero dollars i want to spend zero dollars that's crazy but i want to do it for free like it was like it was painfully awkward because it's like okay clearly i know the game as much as you do but like five minutes into it she was like okay i can tell you very much don't want to do this we have to show you a unit and then after that you can be done and get free donuts
Starting point is 01:00:03 and i was like all right you take that energy into jury duty yeah yeah that guy looks like charles barkley and yeah that guy looks like wanda sykes just some yeah some slurs right off the bat i'm pretty sure it's kurt rambis like yeah it's like all these different things in addition to what i've told you already sam's car also broke down on that trip uh serpentine belt serpentine belt that's a funny story tell yeah so we're we're driving back from we're gonna have to eat at lambert's and we're driving back Sam's car also broke down on that trip. Serpentine belt. Serpentine belt. That's a funny story. Yeah. So we're, we're driving back from, we don't have to eat at Lambert's and we're driving back to go see Shen Yun,
Starting point is 01:00:30 the gymnastics show or whatever. Yeah. I've seen the billboards. I was pretty excited about it. I saw the acrobats of China and Branson. Yeah. It was nice. So we're driving down.
Starting point is 01:00:41 It's like that big steep slope and there's like the Branson welcome center. That big steep slope. I'm sorry. There's like a million of them yeah but anyways we i just started this rumbling and i'm like that doesn't sound right so we pull in and we open up the hood and the serpentine belt is just dangling which if you don't know what a serpentine belt is it's literally the belt that spins your engine like that's that's what makes the car run right dude sometimes i'll look at my car when it's running like the hood is popped and i look at that belt i'm like that just seems like it could go at any second it makes me like thankful it's like wow that thing is just good thing going all
Starting point is 01:01:11 around high quality rubber yeah i'm like that's nuts that's just always running here's a story i remember is that you guys got out of your car to look at it and sam's like it's the serpentine belt and you go oh good it was just a belt that was stuck in there that seems like something i'd say oh the only reason i know what a serpentine belt is now and why it's so important is because of that yeah i remember you're telling us belt stuck in there oh good it's just i was like the engine's still on i mean someone's belt just okay weird prank branson good one yeah so we had that we had to get our car we had to get sam's car towed and we got a taxi cab ride back to our house and he was he was on like branson taxi or there was
Starting point is 01:01:52 a show or something uh what like a like it was a show it was yeah it was a show it was like branson taxi or something like that what does that mean what does that have yeah i don't know i don't know a lot about the show did like was he recording you the whole time no we weren't on the show he had been on it previously okay gotcha so we uh this was on a saturday night and so sunday like everything's closed like dealerships are closed auto body shops are closed uh we were under the age of 25 so we could not rent a car to go home uh we were with britain brook dowd who do not believe in credit cards so they could not rent a car what you couldn't use your credit card with them i don't think so oh wow but anyways we could have rode the ducks back we lucked out we lucked out
Starting point is 01:02:39 and found a dealership that was able to fix it that saturday morning and you know we went we went home fine yeah but yeah so that was and then the other the other just quick story in branson is we were staying in the branson rv park down by the branson landing just you you're you don't understand why you don't like branson yeah i haven't done any of the things that you've done so that's probably why we're staying in my father-in-law's trailer huge storm three yeah huge storm comes through it's like two in the morning we get a knock on the trailer door and it's a police officer he's like hey we're evacuating the park i was like i was like why and i look i look around and like literally the river is like 20 feet away oh it's
Starting point is 01:03:18 probably teeny combo there's yeah it's that it's that like right there's like two bridges there's trailers i mean literally underwater and we're like oh time to go bridge? There's like two bridges. Yeah, there's trailers. I mean, literally underwater. And we're like, oh, time to go. Yeah. And so we like ran and grabbed her dad's truck and hauled out of there. Oh, my gosh. So those are my Branson escapades. Branson Taxi. Let's go there sometime.
Starting point is 01:03:36 I looked up. It's a reality series about a family-run cab business in Branson. Yeah. Surprisingly, we only had one season. Yeah, that would have gone gangbusters these days. Gangbusters. So I need to sit down with you guys and run through Beauty of Branson. I mean, Jake and I are simple people.
Starting point is 01:03:56 It's not like we're like, we have like these best kept secrets of Branson. It's like, go to the go-karts, go play laser tag, go get the Andes. It's not like we're like, we got, I mean, there's some other places. Sugar Leaf and Baskins. Stay in trailer parks. parks right no trailer parks keep your serventee built on no time shares no time shares check out the branson landing if you want a good fire show my dad likes branson i was on the phone with my mom you know a few weeks ago i called her for her birthday and she was like we end up going down to branson yesterday i was like oh what'd you guys do she's like your dad just likes going down there because it makes him feel like he's he's like away from home and it's like 45 minutes away but he just feels like he's on vacation well it is it's a different world out there so he just
Starting point is 01:04:34 goes to the branson landing i think he just sits on the bench and just people and just like watches people it feels like he's on vacation if he ever needs a partner for that companion i would love to sit on a bench with him and branson that sounds amazing you guys would both i feel like be like recognized a lot for different reasons yeah you know i just think like you would both have people down there sure yeah that would be fun oh yeah branson man and you can't cook people stick out like sore thumbs usually so it'd be like oh there's a camp person oh look at that we're in chacos yeah um brad do you have any reviews of the week yeah i'll tell you mine don't take mine uh the title says it gets better and better the only podcast i keep going back to it's that entertaining rachel is the cutest
Starting point is 01:05:20 whoa she gets her own sentence she's the best for Jake. No one is better. That sounds like three of her own sentences. She did the best better thing is what I'm gathering from this. She's the best. No one is better. What do you think about merch that says good, best, better? I like that. I love the merch mind.
Starting point is 01:05:41 Always thinking good, best, better. Yeah, that's great. It's like subtleties on it. Maybe porn. Chaff. I don't know. I was trying to think of Rachel things. Now the fans will get upset if she doesn't make an appearance.
Starting point is 01:05:58 Whoops. Whoops. We got Scott, though. She's in grad school. Was that it? That was it. All right. Mine is longer than that. She's in grad school. Was that it? That was it. Alright, mine is longer than that. It is from Front Door. Front underscore door. Five star

Who really, who only got into them a few years ago they are really really good if you don't know where to start or want to skip the ones that take place on the other world so i can hook you up with the list if you're interested they just typed 2 000 words in a review and like i'm not gonna give you the list right now i can't give you the list if you want the
Starting point is 01:07:37 list you're gonna have to dm me that would be too many words i'll give you part one of like how many words per minute did you just talk? Yeah, impressive. Brad skipped over probably a third of it. Maybe a half of what they typed. Check it out on Apple Podcasts as you're leaving your five-star review for us. I'm sure the Marvel movies are good. I'm a big believer. Anything that's popular is probably good.
Starting point is 01:07:58 I just don't watch... They always end well. The good guy wins. It's a fun movie to watch. They're innocent. But, I mean, at the end of the day, if you don't like it, you guy wins like it's it's a fun movie to watch or innocent but i mean at the end of the day if you don't like you don't like it one there's one movie where one marvel movie where the good guys don't win oh how fun every single time you're like i wonder if the good guy's gonna win now look scott speaking of movies though by the time this comes out i will have seen top gun okay and i will predict that i left that theater going nuts okay ready
