Starting point is 00:00:00 Oh, Jake, we got a fun podcast episode for the listeners today. Yes. Don't touch that dial. Yeah, no, it's going to be a really fun one because we, well, first of all, we're, you know, fueled by Chike. Once again, it's gonna be a high energy episode. Brad and I got to perform standup comedy for the first time ever together this past week. It was amazing.
Starting point is 00:00:18 So we're going to talk about that. Spoiler alert. It was amazing. Spoiler. Oops. Spoiler. It was incredible. Spoiler. Oops. Spoiler. It was incredible. What dick it was.
Starting point is 00:00:28 And also, I have been in Dallas the last couple of days, running around, having the time of my life. Yeah. And Brad and I saw each other outside of work this week, too. We can talk about that. Holy cow. So all that and more. This week on the Ghost Runners Podcast. Uh-oh, ooh, I think this tight beat means that it's going down.
Starting point is 00:00:48 With some random thoughts and white meat too. Midwest best friends eating fast food on repeat. So come along, let's have some fun and go ahead, get on your feet. Because it's the Ghost Runners Podcast. Every Monday morning we're taking ground. Ghost Runners Podcast. Ghost Runners Podcast. You got a good trike. You got a good trike.
Starting point is 00:01:15 You got a good trike. You would be the bell of the ball if you bought trike. What are you doing in the ad read right now? We can just do it full of just movie quotes. This whole episode is just trike related. Yeah, give me some Breaking Bad ones. Aw, trike, trike! Trike, trike, man!
Starting point is 00:01:32 That's so funny. That's so aggressive. Trike's in burn! Mr. Trike! Now do it from Walt Jr.'s perspective. I don't know if i should do that like you know i was so close you give us the money back actually yeah why you gotta be yeah no we probably should yeah okay okay i'm so close i'm so close to doing it but i'm not gonna maybe later maybe after you have some more welcome home jacob hey thank you yes it's been a crazy few days, past few days in Dallas.
Starting point is 00:02:07 And woke up today in Dallas, went straight to the golf course, filmed a ton. We traded from that golf course to the Dallas airport, straight to here. I've made no stops. Now we're recording a podcast. I've made no stops. I eventually had to say no more stops. No more stops. We watch The Office on NBC.
Starting point is 00:02:25 Do you guys? I watched The Office for the first time in a long time recently. Same. Me and Derek were in a little home theater room together. Just turned on The Office. Which episode did you go with? You know what was so great? I just clicked on a random episode and it was the one that some ghostie, it was very
Starting point is 00:02:39 cute of you, whoever did it, they compared me and Rachel to Jim and Pam, which I'll never hate. Yeah. It's like the highest compliment a non-Christian could give somebody. whoever did it, they compared me and Rachel to Jim and Pam, which I'll never hate. Yeah. And, uh, It's like the highest compliment. Yeah. A non-Christian could give somebody. The same, like, kind of like meme that they made was the same episode that I watched
Starting point is 00:02:53 this week, which is where Jim surprises Pam with the house. Oh, yes. And Pam's got the tears in her eyes. And she's like, you bought me a house. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And I was like, Rachel, I'm watching the episode. I didn't even mean to. Oh, that's great.
Starting point is 00:03:04 So fun. I love it. I chose to watch the episode wherever Michael Scott, like the Michael Scott paper company, like got the deal with David Wallace. Ooh. Great episode. Yeah. Where they have to negotiate.
Starting point is 00:03:15 Yeah. And Jim goes and tells them like, hey, you know, they want to talk to you. Jim, you don't understand. Whoa. Oh. I am here to learn as little information as possible. I'll see you titans of industry upstairs.
Starting point is 00:03:27 Michael just... Well, not only titans, we have quarterbacks. That's funny, dude. We have quarterbacks too. Oh, it's so funny. Inside job, Moe's in socks.
Starting point is 00:03:38 That's what, like, you know, Dwight, like, becomes... Anyway, it's fun, fun times. Fun, fun times. Well... Fun times, fun times! Fun times Well, but times fun times times I hope somebody make a meme of the check check cuz I think that was thank you now
Starting point is 00:03:51 I really felt good about it. Yeah, someone just have Was a to go on the left and Brad on the right? I'm gonna I'm gonna drink this real quick and then I want you to after I drink it I want you to then you know splice in the next thing too. Okay, right go for it And then you could do the other thing. Oh, I got it. Or do you want me to do it right now? No, no, no, I get it, I get it, I get it now, I get it.
Starting point is 00:04:12 Oh man. I get it, I get it. I understand. Anyway, yeah, it's been a wild few days. We went down to Dallas. I forget how much I said last week, but just got some opportunities to collab with other golf channels
Starting point is 00:04:24 that are all considerably larger than us which is just so nice of them and if we ever make it big in the golf space i just never want to forget how nice they were to us to let us do this and obviously we still try to add value in some way we tried to film like short form like kind of comedies the stuff that's like popping off for us try to get them involved in that we'll tag them whatever but also it feels like you don't need our help like you you know so we filmed with two different uh members of good good which is like probably the most um uh not what's not a word for like popular but the like most trending or highest trending yeah golf channel like they're on the up and up more than anyone else right now hot hot yeah hottest
Starting point is 00:05:01 yeah like on reddit you can like uh sort by like newest most popular or hot really yeah okay so yeah i would say we sorted by hot yeah we pluck two of them i'm hey you might be on that list oh hot list yeah i mean you're not you're not most popular but you're hot right yeah yeah yeah yeah i'll take it i'll take it so they said about me in high school hey you're hot though you're hot you're gonna have kids you're gonna be just fine yeah so it's fun we film with micah morris and matt scharf and um just yeah tuesday and wednesday were both 10 hour just non-stop filming days just outside on a gorf gorf course just filming stuff constantly did you do it like with micah first and then with matt or did you guys all do it together it was kind of separate i mean it was like uh we had so first morning there 7 40 t time with matt
Starting point is 00:05:50 and filmed like probably three or four videos with him and went straight from that golf course to go film with micah in this other um youtube channel and then we all kind of collaborated and shot several videos together um okay and it was just a crazy day so yeah i mean we just went straight from just being on because the thing about like the mood swings if we have anything to offer at all it's like that we make golf kind of fun and so it's not just playing golf you know it's like every moment is like is there a way we can make this funny can we add value can we say a joke here you know so it's you're on for a lot and outside so it was tiring but in the best way i had so much fun did you ever have a problem or like a insecurity?
Starting point is 00:06:26 I don't know if that's the right word, but like, did you ever have a hesitation of like, maybe I shouldn't be like too goofy? Like, yeah, I did. Like, I think Derek posted on his Instagram story, like we're filming with Matt Sharf. So I clicked on his stuff or Micah or whatever. And like, yeah, his stuff is not super entertaining to the non golfer. I mean, it's like, yeah, it's like very high quality. But I mean, Micah's a guy, he's trying to compete on the professional level. Yeah. And so, and so
Starting point is 00:06:49 he's not like going crazy with like funny, goofy things. And so I wonder like, yeah, obviously you're there for a specific purpose, but then do you ever feel like, Oh, maybe I should tone it back? I think I, I think I did fine. It was great. You know, cause a lot of the humor I add is not like, you know, anything too zany or ridiculous. It's more like quips and cleverness or whatever. Whereas, for instance, today, Joe kind of pulled me aside. He was like, hey, so when it comes time to edit this footage, you may want to take out the part where Trey is throwing his club or hitting the flagstick at a country club. He's like, you don't want to give a country club a reason to not let you do something in the future this. That's a good word. It's oh you're like, yeah, that makes sense. Yeah, no totally
Starting point is 00:07:28 Yeah, I will I will bring that up at some point Especially the Derek is Derek sometimes like thinks the most ridiculous things we do are the best, you know Which they are really funny, but sometimes like Derek don't put that in there. That was like for us That was a blooper for us a joke for us man. And it landed. Oh, there it is. Brad's back. Oh, Scott just texted us. Just started the last game for the night. No doubt he'll be here.
Starting point is 00:07:51 Yeah, Scott has a quadruple header in softball tonight because he doesn't play enough sports. I actually love it. I love that. It's a way to be, Scott. Good job. But, well, it was fun.
Starting point is 00:08:02 So, yeah, Micah, I think he had a really good idea to really mesh the two channels because he's a guy yeah he takes golf very seriously but he's also just an incredible guy had a ton of fun filming with him but one of the videos we did for his channel was like he's gonna play six holes and try to shoot even par but trey and i could do whatever we want to mess with him or like joke with him yeah so that's fine i feel like we got to showcase how good micah is and also trey and i were just firing just jokes at him. And yeah,
Starting point is 00:08:26 there was a lot of material. Like we found out, cause Joe was there with a manager, Joe. Uh, I've been calling him now a Hollywood Joe. That's a new nickname. Hollywood Joe. Is he on the hot, is he on the hot list? He's probably popular. He's on the popular list. I mean, he knows everybody like he, I mean, one of his clients is Reggie Bush, you know? And yeah, he was with beans guy beans guy right the guy that has his dog in the yeah reggie bush is the guy here she he trained that golden retriever duke
Starting point is 00:08:50 you know the bush baked beans guy that's so funny yeah joe's just incredibly well connected it has been nice enough to kind of we brought him on he's like our mood swings manager and i happen to know him from canicuck he's the first guy i met at canicada 11 years ago so random did he work there yes okay yeah he was my shepherd oh yeah and you know still he still is let's just say his rod and staff they come for me all right he if i lost one sheep he would go after that one that's right i bet he would i bet he would but uh what was i saying just um oh yeah so yeah we just got to say joe would kind of feed us lots because he's been working
Starting point is 00:09:31 with micah for years so he's like hey i don't know you guys know that micah's homeschooled like jackpot uh bing bing bing um and so we were just joe would just feed us information about micah and we would just have fun with it so that was really fun and overall it's just a big win i think i've been around people having to be on for three days straight and it's been so fun but i'm also so tired and i came straight from the airport and then tomorrow get to wake up early i gotta be at trey's house by 7 45 that's really that's really cool that he like lets you like just chill for a while so a big time off you know you know i do think it's one of those things i i like how hard he is willing to work and i think it's it's sure you know yeah i think a lot of times success follows
Starting point is 00:10:09 hard work if you're doing hard work the right way so and naturally you're not going to be working until five tomorrow right no yeah i think the reason we're starting early we got another at home brand deal the store and so we have to go in before they open oh gotcha so we have to go shoot in at home and then we're going to take like no i think it's like a gladstone one okay and then we have to go uh do a little editing break then at 11 a.m we have to go to wing stop because that and that's when they open we have a wing stop brand deal um so that's fun uh speaking of brand deals i think by the time this comes out it'll be signed and i guess it's okay to talk about i don't know i'm new to all this like a hundred only like a hundred thousand people listen to our podcast it's not in the grand scheme of things yeah seven million people in the world yeah not a big deal but thanks to old
Starting point is 00:10:51 hollywood joe and whatever trey and i have stumbled into with this golf stuff we have signed a a deal this is what i alluded to like a week or two ago like this crazy the craziest partnership i've ever been a part of yeah we signed a club deal so this company and it was so funny it's like i'm more excited about getting new clubs than I am the money. I'm like, new golf gear. Look how shiny they are. And like, you get fitted and everything for them.
Starting point is 00:11:13 Yeah, so we had like kind of a little fitting just like at the range on, I guess what it would have been yesterday morning, Wednesday, and just figure out which types of their irons we want to play with. It was so cool. Just like having someone like, oh, we have this. You know, if you, I'm going to try this out.
Starting point is 00:11:24 I was like, this is so awesome. i bet i exclaimed that 19 times like this is awesome you guys thank you i would i would abuse is the wrong word no it's not i would abuse the heck out of that sponsorship and get every single because i i'm learning that there's like a 52 degree thing there's a three wood there's, I learned from Micah that he really likes a two iron or two. And I was like, I'll get every single one. Like I would have, like, I've seen those guys golf bags are just, just riddled with clubs. That would be me. Well, I'll tell you what, where I went full Brad mode internally. Yeah. I was like the store, this kind of switch got flipped in my head. I was like, Oh my gosh, golf. Yeah, I think it makes sense. A ton of people want you. It's so competitive.
Starting point is 00:12:06 So we're going to sign an exclusive club deal with a brand called Tacoma. But I'm like, I mean, sky's the limit. Ball deal. Yeah. T deal. Oh, yeah. Glove deal. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:12:16 Rangefinder deal. Whoa, baby. Yeah. I mean, how far out can we like compartmentalize the golf industry? I will sell out every part of my body. You better believe you're not using a Tacoma range finder because you're going to find somebody else for that. Some other company to find my businesses, some other company for the ball, different company for the team. You're the NASCAR driver of golf. Like, like every single
Starting point is 00:12:36 thing you have is like, like front pocket deal, you know, like I actually double booked myself on hats. So I got to wear two hats on the golf course. You got one for one back. And like, I got Derek, can we do a picture? One for driving, one for putting, you know,
Starting point is 00:12:49 back and forth. Okay. Every shot's got to be picture in picture. We got to get a second videographer to film me from behind at all points. You know, just like we got to have good coverage all the time. No, it is crazy because it's starting to happen.
Starting point is 00:13:00 So this club deal is happening. I think we're going to sign that tomorrow. And then this apparel company reached out too. So I think we're going to sign like a one year apparel deal, uh, which is just crazy. I mean, two years ago, I didn't play this sport three months ago. This brand didn't exist. It's like, is golf really just that there's just so much money in it, I guess that people want, you know, to associate themselves with the right people. You know, it's just, this was not the plan who would have known, but shout out Joe, truly shout out to Joe. He's the man.
Starting point is 00:13:25 Let's talk just a little bit more about golf here. I heard, speaking of you've only been playing for, you know, a year and a half, heard you had a pretty big feat last Saturday. You played one of our close friends and a member of the podcast, Scott Peck. Oh, he told me multiple times. He like broke it down yesterday for me. So go ahead. Was he excited or was he like bummed or what was the.
Starting point is 00:13:46 Oh, he was ashamed of himself. Yeah. Scott and I went golf Saturday together. Every one of our other friends skipped town. So just us two. So Scott and I just golfed and yeah, I somehow like beat Scott just straight up. Just. He's like, no, he straight up beat me like stroke for stroke.
Starting point is 00:14:03 Like he beat me, you know? Yeah. So it's kind of wild. I've never never done that before and it sounded like you played really well it wasn't like yeah it wasn't like scott had a heart attack on the course and he didn't get to finish the last six holes scott is such a choke artist man like like when i heard that it was just one-on-one i was like of course you lost like of course you did well i didn't really know i mean usually it's not like all right one one-on-one let's do this you know we're kind of just playing golf and then we look up in nine holes. It's like,
Starting point is 00:14:26 Oh, we're like tied. Like, all right, let's see who's going to win. Right. Cause Scott is like out of our friends, like him and Luke are like by far the two best.
Starting point is 00:14:32 So it's never a thing where I go into it trying to beat Scott. But yeah, I've just been playing good golf and thank goodness I played good golf on camera the past few days. Cause yeah, these guys are incredible golfers. It's not like we were with other comedy golf channels. It was like,
Starting point is 00:14:44 we're with some of the most skilled golfers on YouTube. Right. Like let's bring in golf channels. It was like we're some of the most skilled golfers on YouTube. Like, let's bring in the mood swings guys. And we're like, oh, dear God. Please let it go straight. Yeah, my prayer life got better these past few days. Make me a bed. But it was, yeah, I forgot. I should have had more confidence going into it. I forgot I beat Scott on Saturday. Oh, you were
Starting point is 00:14:59 feeling good. Yeah, thanks for bringing that up. Absolutely. Oh, yeah. I saw him for just a little bit yesterday and he was like, dude, i straight up lost i lost him yeah 83 to 84 so he's been playing for like 15 months he beat me like yeah here he's pretty good so yeah i'm encouraged it's fun thank you last thing i'll say about the dallas trip it was well actually i've i'll have more to say later let's's get on to you. Okay back to Brad With trike in it. Here we go Sorry, just like you're fine. You can show off the flamingos a little bit get a little warm in here and
Starting point is 00:15:35 Yeah, I'm straight from the golf course got the polo on still looks good. Thanks I got a lot of compliments when I posted this shirt on Instagram You're going for like the the loud the loud shirts the loud I would I would say colorful. Yeah. What's the difference? Probably not much. I would say like, like more like vibrant, right? Like, like just like bold and boisterous. Now. Yes. Now that makes sense. That's more me. Loud. No, I did the loud. So we were telling you that story of that comedy club owner who's like, Oh, you don't want to listen to open for you. She's real loud. She's real loud.
Starting point is 00:16:07 Oh, yeah. Okay. All open for you guys. Have we talked about that on the podcast? Because even if we have mentioned it again, that's a fun. Okay. So this was like, I'm pretty sure we have, but this happened like a year and a half ago. We probably talked about it on correct opinions, but this, he's a very eccentric comedy club
Starting point is 00:16:23 owner. He owns a couple of clubs up the northeast old man yeah older guy and give me give me a number 61 okay but a lot of energy but a lot of energy and a really fun guy we enjoy to hang out with him but the very first time we're in his comedy club you know think he threw probably his mindset i think he's like this is crazy you know we're sold out on a Wednesday. This never happens. I'm going to take advantage of this because I think he's also an aspiring comedian. He doesn't.
Starting point is 00:16:48 He's not just a businessman. He's a comic. Trey mentioned like he's got multiple comedy clubs around the Northeast, right? It's like so-and-so's comedy club. I also mentioned that. Oh, you did? Yeah, recently. Did you just say that?
Starting point is 00:17:01 Yeah. My bad. No, it's all good. But now, you know, it's true, guys. So like, never mind my bad no it's all good uh but now you know it's true guys so like never mind no it's good and so yeah he's got a couple clubs up there and yeah he's just an interesting guy and so i'm really sorry for not listening to you better right then oh it's okay i think you're maybe just you and i said yeah but so he's he's jazz we're gonna be there and he's like all right so it's gonna be how's this gonna work and trey's like jake's gonna open for me and
Starting point is 00:17:24 before that just like whoever you guys have to host and he's like i all right, so it's going to be, how's this going to work? And Trey's like, Jake's going to open for me. And before that, just like whoever you guys have to host. And he's like, I think, I think Alyssa is supposed to open for you guys. But I don't know. I don't think you guys are going to want Alyssa. She's, she's real loud. And that was like the only like complaints. Like that doesn't seem, it wasn't like she's really inappropriate. Cause you know, usually we ask like clean comedians.
Starting point is 00:17:39 It was like, I mean, loud is great. That could be great. I don't know. And the irony of it is that, no, not irony. Is this irony? No, just the backwardness, the coincidence of this is that this guy has hearing aids and has some like voice modulation issues.
Starting point is 00:17:54 And so he is talking a little too loud the whole time. You don't want her. She's real loud. Sold out. So he's like, she's real loud. Seriously, this girl will annoy the crap out of you. All right. I'll do it.
Starting point is 00:18:05 I'll do it, guys. I'm going to go tell Alyssa. She doesn't need to worry about it. I will do the comedy. And so we're like, okay. And then, so that happens the first show. And then Trey's agent shows up. And he's like, did so-and-so open for you guys?
Starting point is 00:18:20 And we're like, yeah. He said he would just rather do it. And he's like, oh my God. He's like, we specifically have in our contract that he cannot perform with our clients because he tries to do this he's got this reputation of doing this all the time i think he's like yeah sold out on wednesday i gotta take advantage of this i gotta get the people what they want and so then like the second show marcus trey's agent comes back and he's like you know whatever i don't want to doxy i but you know we'll call him uh a Benny. Yeah. Benny, you can't perform.
Starting point is 00:18:45 It's in the contract. He's like, Trey said it was okay. Trey, did you tell him? Trey, did you say it was okay? And Trey's like, I didn't really tell him. It was whatever. He's like, Trey, who do you want? Who do you want the next show?
Starting point is 00:18:54 Me or Alyssa? Remember, Alyssa's real loud. And didn't you say they were both like Northeastern? Like, like Trey, Trey told me it was okay. It's like, you can't do this, Benny. You can't do it. We all know you can't do it we all know you can't do it benny yeah trey said it trey talked to him you know i think benny's a new jersey guy and
Starting point is 00:19:10 marcus is like a new york city guy so i love just like yeah very firm confrontational and we're just like whatever and so it was so funny and then of course just the cherry on top as benny gets done performing um comes on or sorry trey gets up performing it's like thank you guys have a good night standing ovation benny goes back on stage to kind of close out the night and it starts off with just already the annoying like hey guys we got some great shows for you guys lined up make sure you follow um you know bridgeport connecticut.comedy underscore club on instagram you're never going to want to miss a date um that's the funny thing about going out and trying to make plans. Underscores, huh?
Starting point is 00:19:48 Everyone's trying. And then he just starts like doing, people are like halfway in their seat. They're like trying to leave. And now it's like, is he doing more jokes? We need to sit back down. Yeah. It's how we were just like, dude. Right.
Starting point is 00:19:58 Ended on a high note, except for that, you know, like. It's just one of those, you know, we always talk about the characters we meet on the road and he's just an infamous one, but we really did like him. It's I think we would go back and we would, we would see him again. Love it. Well, okay. So let's, let's, let's talk about the comedy. Let's go, let's go there next. Yes. Brad and I got to perform together for the first time and it was great, man. It was so fun. So it was in Kansas city, obviously, which just made it so much more fun, but also like, I, yeah, it was, it was one of those things where I was like, I don't know what time I should get there. You know, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:20:28 And then like, so, so I was, I, Jake kind of mentioned it before. Like I was like the quote unquote host, which is like a pretty normal thing apparently. Uh, but I didn't know that, like that I was going to be like the one like introducing people and like coming up at the end and saying, Hey, you know, doing one more set while while I, no, not really, I didn't do that. But yeah, I didn't know exactly what to expect. And so I was more nervous about like messing that part up. How do I say, thanks for coming out tonight? Yeah, or like I even said like,
Starting point is 00:20:55 Trey, how do you want me to introduce? No, I texted him. I should not have texted him the way I did. I kind of did a yes or no question. Should have given it open-ended. Short answer. I go, is there any specific way you want to introduce? You want to be introduced?
Starting point is 00:21:07 And he just goes, Nope. So you're like, well, okay. I don't know any more than I did before. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:21:12 Yeah. Uh, you gave me a really good, like small piece of, uh, like verbiage where you said, keep, keep the applause going for our next comedian.
Starting point is 00:21:20 I use that. Oh, you're welcome. I like that. Yeah. Um, but yeah, it was overall, man, it was so much fun. There was two shows and the first one was bumping, rocking,
Starting point is 00:21:30 raucous. I mean, just a raucous crowd. You guys probably saw it. I, I recorded Brad, uh, going to the stage, sold out crowd and he did it. He did the jock champs and I was, Oh, I was smiling the whole time. I was so excited. Oh man. And I don't know why I, maybe it's just the fact, like maybe it's just a tough song, but I was so excited oh man and i don't know why i maybe it's just the fact like maybe it's just a tough song but i was so out of breath and i was not out of breath because i like sprinted to the stage or anything like that you know what i mean it was like halfway through i was like i can't talk anymore you know it's pretty i mean the whole you know like just go and go and go and with it um but it it landed just fine. Granted, I think it was cause Scott was, you know, he was there ready to rock it with me. But overall, I think the, the host,
Starting point is 00:22:16 at least in my opinion was like, the host is just supposed to kind of set a fun tone for the night. And I was like, I feel like I did a good job of that. Every time I would get nervous. Even now when I get nervous, it's like, all right, you idiot. They're here to see Trey. Yeah. As long as you don't like somehow say the R word on, you know, like, I think everyone's going to have a good time. I said that whenever I was with you guys, like, cause you guys, you're like, are you nervous? I was like, I'm like, yeah, a little, like, but I was like, I'm, I thought back on my time in Phoenix. Uh, you know, whereas you, when you came to watch us, you, you random guy in Trey. And I don't remember a thing that the random guy said.
Starting point is 00:22:50 Yeah. You know what I mean? Like it's like, yeah, it's like, unless you're really bad or yeah, really offensive, no one's really going to remember you unless you do really well. So like, I was like, let's just go out and do something here. And it was great, man. Like, I think a lot of it was like, okay, some jokes that I thought were just mediocre people laughed at. And I was like, okay, it's so good to get those reps. You
Starting point is 00:23:11 just learn so much. I mean, every five seconds you were learning information. You're like, okay, that randomly worked that I got that guy at this reaction. Right. Did some crowd work with people. That was pretty fun. You know, got some funny, like there was one guy, uh, I, I, for whatever reason, I only asked men the first time, like the first show, like questions actually, maybe both shows. I don't know if that's like a subconscious thing. I wanted to ask guys or whatever, but I asked one guy, you know, like, sir, what's your date, whatever he answered. And then ask another guy. And he just goes, Oh gosh, he said, Oh crap. He said, Oh crap. I just gave him such a hard time for that. I'm like, oh, like sit on the front row. I'd never have thought this guy would have called on me.
Starting point is 00:23:49 You had some good stuff too. Like you asked somebody like, hey, what did you like, you know, this is all spontaneous. No one knew this was going to happen. You must've gave up something to be here. What'd you have to do? And they're like, we had to hire a sitter. And then you got to like talk about that. You're like, oh yeah, we have to hire sitters all the time.
Starting point is 00:24:00 I mean, she's 15, got a heartbeat. Good enough for us. That's how it was when I was growing up. Now it's like, yeah, you have to, what did I say? Like you have to get a urine sample,
Starting point is 00:24:09 you know, whatever, a wonder lick test results or something like that. Yeah. Those are great jokes. And yeah, yeah, it was,
Starting point is 00:24:15 it was fun. So yeah, you did a great job. I mean, it was probably a lot like how I was when I started. It was just like, you're just going to just need more reps to iron it out. But as far as like the,
Starting point is 00:24:23 the premises go, we're great. You clearly have have enough like stage presence like shout out to canna cook and k life and stuff like you definitely feel comfortable i think right with a microphone in your hands in front of people it's just stand-up comedy is the hardest art form i've ever encountered yeah granted i've never done uh sculpting great i've never really done much other art forms yeah i've never tried to paint the ceiling of any kind of like major building. That's gotta be tough. Yet. Um,
Starting point is 00:24:49 nothing out of ice. Side note real quick. Uh, just speaking of sculptures, uh, Hattie has a new Michelangelo book that she's reading and we were looking through it and there's a sculpture of a mother and her naked baby. And she goes,
Starting point is 00:25:01 dad, what's, what's that? And I was like, uh, what's what? She like points to the baby's midsection and i was like oh oh that's the abdomen you know that's what you know bow that's kind of like what bow has oh yeah yeah yeah and she kept that was enough okay good oh oh dodged one yeah
Starting point is 00:25:22 dodge one there uh anyway no it was it was a really fun, uh, especially the first set. I know that there's some ghosties out there that came to the second set as well. I feel like the second one was good. The second one, actually, I had a really fun moment. Um, it was two people, two different women were there on their birthdays. Well, and there was a woman there for her birthday, the first show and the woman for her first show, I had no idea what her name was. I was like, what's your name? And it was some kind of like Eastern European sounding name. I thought you were messing with, I thought you were doing the thing that you do with like kids with like Hadley or whatever. I thought you were honestly like, what's your name? I mean, it was, I, I, I tried multiple,
Starting point is 00:25:56 like I had her repeat it three times and I was like, can you just, can you just be named Tracy or something? And that was kind of the inside joke there. But then the second show, uh, there were two different women with birthdays. One of them was turning 50. Uh, I think her name was JJ. And so I kind of messed around with JJ. I was talking about Facebook a little bit and how people are on Facebook. I was like, but not very many people are on Facebook. I mean, JJ is probably on Facebook, you know, whatever. Uh, and she flipped me off. Like she throws me the bird and I was like, Whoa, you throw me the bird, the angry bird over here, which I'm sure you play all the time on Facebook, you know, uh, which was great. Yeah. Just, and I, I messed with her. I was like, I mean, honestly, seriously,
Starting point is 00:26:33 you don't even look 50. I would have guessed 49 tops, you know, I'm very impressed. Yeah. Just kind of fun stuff like that. But, uh, the first show specifically when I got off stage, you just get off stage and there's a little green room. It's just a little, you know, tiny little room with a couch and a chair in it. But I get off stage and Alan, who's the piano player, musician, he just goes, holy S, dude. Say, holy S. And Trey's like, how'd that feel, man? I was like, oh, good.
Starting point is 00:27:00 Yeah, it was fun. He's like, yeah. I mean, they loved that last bit, you know. So that was fun to kind of go out. You got a good closer, dude. Yeah. You already got it. Yeah. So anyway, yeah, it was fun. He's like, yeah, they, I mean, they loved that last bit, you know? So that was fun to like, kind of go out. You got a good closer, dude. Yeah. You already got it. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:27:07 So anyway, yeah, it was all fun. And then obviously like literally getting to introduce you, which was awesome. That was like one of my favorite things. It's just so cool. Yeah. I was like, you know, this guy's a great friend and amazing comedian. Give it up for Jake Tripp. You know, whatever.
Starting point is 00:27:21 And, uh, we rehearsed exactly how we were going to, I was like, do you want to dap it up? Clap bumps, whatever. Vertical fist bump. Just nailed it. And Trey was like, actually, thank you for asking that. And I was like, Oh, okay. Some things you could talk to me about before, but, um, no overall, man, it was, it was so much fun. It was fun to meet some ghosties there. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I met some really fun people. Brock Wright.
Starting point is 00:27:48 Brock Wright. Yeah. Yeah. He and his wife came from Columbia. Yeah. They were awesome. I love talking to them. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:27:57 And then Sarah and Daniel Ming. Are their names? George Ann and Dean Ellis. George Ann and Dave Ellis. Yeah. Yeah. They were there and they were, it was classic. Just like my dad at F12. Like, I mean, he was going up to people immediately after the show and be like, that's my son right there. That's, you know, my son's, my son's like,
Starting point is 00:28:15 you know, whatever. He was so proud and so happy. Your parents were both wearing this exact same ghost runners merch. No, I think they were different. Oh, was it different? Your mom had a jacket. It was hard to tell, but they're both merged out rocked out in the ghost runners it was awesome and they were like i was like okay you guys can come but like please don't judge or please you know i don't want to be too distracted by you my mom texted me she's like fyi we are right in the very front yeah you had to walk by him to get to the stage luckily they were like a far enough over that i didn't like stare at them or anything. Like they weren't like front and center. That reminds me, something we haven't talked about.
Starting point is 00:28:47 Mr. James. Did you see him? No. He was in the front row. I went down to do a crowd work. Did you? First or second show? The second show.
Starting point is 00:28:54 I went down to do crowd work and I looked down like, oh, hey, I know you. No way. I just into the microphone. I'm like, oh, hey, man. I was like, that's the fun thing about doing shows at Kansas City. Sometimes you see your friends. Oh, wow. Yeah. I forgot to mention that. There was a guy from college that texted me. He was like, hey, man, I that's the fun thing about doing shows at kent city sometimes you see your friends oh wow yeah i forgot to mention that there was a guy from college that texted me he was like hey man i was at the second show you did awesome like i've never done i've
Starting point is 00:29:11 never had that happen before where someone i didn't know like was just there and i almost called on mr james oh wow it was so cool yeah no i had no idea yeah he was there really huh right by the girl giving me the bird yeah probably, probably. Um, no, that's crazy. No, I had no idea how fun, um, anything else. I don't know. I'm trying to think of what else we can say about it. I mean, Jake said, I feel like I did great. I feel like I was, I was very happy with what I did on two days notice. I feel like Jake knocked it out of the park. 10 out of 10. Thank you. Would you say, would you say 10 out of 10 is that, I mean, it was like, there's always room for improvement. Cause yeah, there's always is, i have never and it's gonna sound like hyperbole
Starting point is 00:29:48 maybe or just that i'm you know recency bias but i've never felt that way the next morning after a show before i just i just was so encouraged and felt so confident afterwards like rarely am i like get me back on a stage yeah yeah usually it's like okay good i have a month to work on i mean just last week you were like i'll be honest like i didn't want to go to alab stage again. Usually it's like, okay, good. I have a month to work on stuff. I mean, just last week you were like, I'll be honest. Like I didn't want to go to Alabama. Like, I know it's crazy. I think that was a little bit, you know, other circumstances. Stress induced, but yeah, the difference two weeks can make. I went from like, I don't even know, like stand up is just causing me stress. It's so much work to now. I'm like, I figured I have cracked the code because I think I previewed a little bit last week. I'm going to try this like
Starting point is 00:30:22 10 minute story. That's like a secret borderline. And so it was scary a little bit last week. I'm going to try this like 10 minute story that's like a secret borderline. And so it was scary a little bit. I was like, I felt pretty good about what I had written down. But it's like, it's going to be tough to bail out of this long story if the first like 60 seconds, it's clearly not going well. Like I didn't have a contingency plan. I was like, let's just hope it works. And it did.
Starting point is 00:30:38 It crushed. And there were even jokes I forgot the first time that when I said in the second time, it was got massive laughs. I'm so encouraged by like the very first time it worked incredibly well and i know i can make it so much better so i'm just i'm buzzing dude i cannot wait to perform again i can't believe how well it worked yeah just feeling good because like yeah i've pretty much already got a 20 minute set now where i've almost all brand new stuff yeah so i'm feeling great new special uh next month i had that thought i was like what if i put out two this year it It's just, oh, it's fun, dude.
Starting point is 00:31:06 It was fun. Buy tickets to the Des Moines shows. Actually, all the current Des Moines shows are sold out, but check back in like a week or two. I think we're going to put up more Des Moines shows because Brad is coming. Yeah, because Brad's coming. That's why. Yeah, they're putting out more.
Starting point is 00:31:18 Yeah. Brad's going to bring a crew. Yeah. Yeah. It'll be fun, man. That's going to be so fun. I think Des Moines. I don't know what.
Starting point is 00:31:25 I mean, I assume like I know Rachel is going to come up with me. You'll come. You think Catherine, the kids will come. We've talked about it. I don't know. Cool. Yeah. I think my parents are going to come up. They want to see you perform. Oh yeah. Specifically you, they didn't bring up me. They know what you have to offer. They've seen me. Right. Yeah. They want to see you. I know Rachel's family is going to be there at like multiple shows. so it's going to be such a fun week dude yeah i can't wait because that's always been my like motivation is like all right i just got to get some good stuff by des moines yeah i want to impress rachel's family truly you know it's like i don't you know i could do some old stuff in huntsville but by des moines they they deserve a show right and they're going to
Starting point is 00:32:00 get a new set heck yeah des moines we've always said Des Moines is going to be lit. Just wait till Des Moines. Just wait till. Yeah. Oh yeah. Yeah. Anyway, uh, I don't have anything written down. I just wrote down standup cause I knew I would have enough to talk about comedy shows. We went to a dinner beforehand, which I wasn't anticipating doing. I don't know what I was anticipating, but okay. Uh, and we got recognized like 10 times, not really, but it felt like it felt like so quickly set the tone like this must be what it's like to be trey bell of the ball multiple people are like you know i don't want to interrupt you or like but somebody's like willing to buy you a drink or something yeah oh my gosh like we're not mad men the only before we ever hit a single ball this
Starting point is 00:32:42 past a few days um on like the dallas golf trip these two like high school girls approach me and trey and matt sharp before we're about to tee off in the very first hole and they're like hey can we get a picture with you and it's like we're on a golf course this is like kind of like matt's domain but they haven't addressed any of us so we're all just kind of awkwardly waiting for them to like step towards someone like we don't know who they want to picture with and i don't want to be the guys like high school girls. Hey, right this way.
Starting point is 00:33:07 Yeah. No, yeah. Let's get a few. One on each side. Step on up ladies. I used to do youth ministry. So this is fine.
Starting point is 00:33:16 That's funny. Um, yeah, it's got this awkward thing. Like define who, who, who, who do you want here?
Starting point is 00:33:22 And anyway, um, it was funny hearing Matt he's like oh i do right away it was for you guys he's like because i think his youtube analytics it's 99 male so he's like yeah i knew they weren't here for me i was like oh wow i didn't i was like a golf course i thought 99 yeah so i guess that's pretty normal in the golf world so train i feel good we're like 80 male so that's in 90 i mean that is 100 is a hundred percent, right? Like, like 99% is like, there's always a 1% error,
Starting point is 00:33:47 you know, it's just like in an unknown category. Oh my goodness. I don't even know if it's female, but yeah, I think that's pretty common. It was like golf YouTubers. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:33:54 That's, that's interesting. 99% male. So anyway, that just made me think of it. Hey Brad, what did you just finish drinking? Holy cow.
Starting point is 00:34:02 This is a little drink. I like to call. Chike. That's cool that I like to call chike. That's cool that you like to call it that. And everyone else also calls it that. Yeah. Starting point is 00:39:20 Yes, dude. It was, it's been this, this past week, like Monday, this is now Thursday, Monday through Thursday was, it's been this, this past week, like Monday, this is now Thursday, Monday through Thursday has been pretty chill for me, but I think I'm trying to forgive or like
Starting point is 00:39:30 give myself that allowance because I've just felt like I've been running, you know, on fumes for a while now. So, um, yeah, we went from, yeah, Friday night, uh, improv, nope, stand up. And then Saturday morning I was up at five 15. Wow. To get after it at McLean's. We had a McLean's pop up, um, got going on that and it was awesome. It was so much fun. Got the old tent set up, got the old cutting boards out. Yeah. Nice little display there. I had the family laminated and I lost custom creation sign. Yeah. Oh yeah. I had, I got a banner slightly askew not a problem dang it let me know next time say hey i've noticed it's you're askew i've noticed you're talking about
Starting point is 00:40:10 my sign right um it was fun right before i had a little time that saturday morning and before i went and dominated scott i was like oh yeah it'd be nice to see but i truly just thought i would pop in and just like talk to you i wanted to like debrief the comedy show or whatever and i don't really know if i talked to Brad much. No, it was like I got there and when it was popping and Brad just kind of a steady flow of potential
Starting point is 00:40:29 clients coming in. I don't want to bother him. I'll go over here, buy Rachel some natural peanut butter. That'll be fun. Spoilers. Spoilers. Oh, that preservatives.
Starting point is 00:40:39 I'm just kidding. Does she know? Yes, I gave her. That was when she was still out of town. So I hid things all over the house for her to find. Fun. Um, yeah, it was so fun. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:40:50 Yeah. It was fun. And, uh, ghosties there, uh, gave Rachel and Catherine gifts. So I got to add that to the list of things to hide for her. Yeah. The, uh, cuttings. I learned that that's a, that's a noun. It's like when you take part of a plant and make a new plant, kind of an Adam and Eve
Starting point is 00:41:01 rib situation. Yeah. Truly. They started explaining it to us without actually having the plant in front of me. A little hard to imagine. And I said, I have no idea what you're talking about. Are you talking about a pair of scissors? They said, yeah, we got some cuttings
Starting point is 00:41:11 for Catherine and Rachel. And I was like, whoa. It was like stocking, it's like a fall outfit that can you. Yeah, cutting stockings, yeah. Is that a scarf? I would have believed you if you explained it that way. That's very nice. From Target or?
Starting point is 00:41:24 Yeah, yeah. Anyway, got us some potted plants. Tons of ghost it that way. That's very nice. Where did you from Target or yeah? Potted plants tons of ghosties that came which was so fun because right when I got there I did talk to you briefly and you're like dude. You just missed it You know pray 20 fans have come through genius words goes for us. I was like dang it I'm is there Brum spring a jewel man. How many man sisters are there dude? Oh that reminds me Lucy man got a cameo, but i forgot to do it when we were together saturday okay and so i had to do it this morning on the golf course it's like lucy this is a placeholder i'm gonna see brad tonight but it's gonna expire so i just want you to know because i do i know her yeah it was fine and so i was just like this is a placeholder i know cameo is gonna
Starting point is 00:41:58 take your money right now but we will get you one privately i'll just like you know text it to you yeah yeah yeah yeah it i mean it was awesome so many fun people got to meet them and, uh, it's so many other ghosts. He still came up once I was there. So I still got some fan interaction. Yeah. Really only talked to fans. Um, there was a kid that came up to me after you had left, probably, I'm not good at judging age, but probably 10 years old, cool. Old enough where you would be a little uncomfortable taking a picture with him on a golf course, probably. But he, I could tell, you know, now that I've like become like somebody that is recognizable every once in a while in public, you can tell when somebody is like recognizing you from afar.
Starting point is 00:42:35 Right. Can you figure that? I can always do this on the podcast and I hate mentioning it, but I am batting a thousand with Rachel. I'm like, those people are going to come ask for a picture. You picture you can there's just something about like the quick look back and like the kind of the stats sometimes they check their phone to like confirm oh yeah that's the guy yeah so this kid was talking to what looks like his grandparents for a while about it and i was like and so finally i was kind of like letting him be and finally i kind of look over him i kind of just wave and
Starting point is 00:43:01 right when i wave he comes up to me and just the most like perfectly polite, perfectly social, confident kid was just like, excuse me, are you Brad from Jean Schwartz comedy? I was like, yes, I am. What's your name, man? I forget his name, but you know, we, he shook my hand. Amazing handshake. Cool. Just great handshake. And he said, was Jake here earlier too? And I was like, yeah, he was. He's like, I just love all your videos. Your videos are amazing. Thank you so much for watching. And then he walked away. Like, it was just like a perfect, like, wow. He wasn like, I just love all your videos. Your videos are amazing. That's so cool. Thank you so much for watching. And then he walked away. Like it was just like a perfect, like, wow. He wasn't awkward about it. He wasn't like lingering, but he also wasn't like scared to stand and look me in the eyes. I mean, it was, it was a wonderful conversation. So out of all the,
Starting point is 00:43:37 all the conversations, that was the one that was like most impressed by was this kid so uh whoever's parents that kids is that's probably right uh good job so um yeah anyway it was a fun it was a fun time i was so relieved and tired when it got over i think i got done like you know 4 30 and sat there with katherine on the couch and we just ate our lunch at 4 30 and just that's awesome while the kids were asleep slash had he was down doing her quiet time learned about you know wolfgang amadeus mo. And I mean, it was, yeah, it was wonderful. It's, it's, it's always fun to do those kinds of events because you just get direct feedback a lot of like, Oh, these are beautiful. This is nice. Thank you. I appreciate that. You know? Um, and yeah, it was just fun to be out and in public. And I, I think I, like you were just talking
Starting point is 00:44:24 about, like you had to be on for 10 hours, you know, multiple days in a row. I really, really like being on quote unquote with people, but I have a, I'm learning more and more recently that I have an expiration for being on with one person at a time. Like, like, like F12, I could, I could do like, we had like a receiving line, you know, and we talked to people for hours and I loved it. Like I loved every single meeting, every single person. But I think if I hang out with one person that I don't really jive with, like, or, you know, I'm not like super, super good friends with for too long. I, I, I stop, I stop being like, like friendly to them. Like, or like I stopped, you know, honestly, I think that's just like, it's got a shelf life.
Starting point is 00:45:04 Like, okay. I'm, I'm, I'm ready to just be tired now. You know, like, so I didn't know if you felt that at all. Like, that's funny. Like, okay, I'm not, I'm not gonna, not, not that I was going to use the example of Trey and Derek. Not that you're not like friends with Trey and Derek, but you're not like super tight with them. You know? And I didn't know if eventually you were just like, okay, I'm not going to talk to them anymore. You know, this past week was fine because it would even, you know, the golf course is fun. There's enough like stuff going on. That was fine.
Starting point is 00:45:28 And then even like we would get done and we'd go back to Joe's house and he's like, I'm having a bunch of people for a cookout. And so I was like, whew, okay, we're on again. But it was a, it was a variety of people again and you're still meeting new people. So yeah, it was fine. It was exhausting. But yeah, I think that Tuesday I was with people truly. I was so bad at texting people back.
Starting point is 00:45:43 Like I was, I think I told you, I was like, yeah, I should be able to call you here in a couple of hours. And I was like, dude, I've been with you from 7am truly to midnight. Yeah. And it was like, I'm just now like catching up on everything, but it was fine. But yeah, Saturday was fun. I didn't talk to nearly as many people as you did. So, but there was one ghosty crew that I was talking with and all four of them were at
Starting point is 00:45:59 different parts of the podcast. It was funny, like trying to navigate, like what they know about me and what they don't. That's cool. And one of the girls was a girl that I had mitch on the podcast i ran into her at summer moon and oh yeah while i was talking to her if you remember the story there was a girl in ghost runners merch who was like walking in and out and never said anything to me and so this girl was like i'm the girl who kept you from talking to that fan i was like no it wasn't your fault it was her fault she should have said something it's like you're all her fault you were normal yeah
Starting point is 00:46:23 you did good yeah that was great they were they were fun uh rachel when that group was like the one at your show in kansas city like the big theater show that came up to me beforehand and just screamed on your feet i was like whoa what do i do with this i'm not gonna i can't match that energy right now but thank you for coming up it's's like, you know, anyway, they're, yeah, they're fun. And yeah, it's just fun to, fun to meet people. So, um, and it was also fun, like Catherine and the kids came and, Oh, let me tell you a quick story. Actually, the cat, Catherine, the kids came Hattie and Bo by the end of it. And, you know, we're pretty comfortable there. And they, they came, they came and then they went, went home to like have Rosie sleep and then came back again uh but there's some kids activities there like cornhole and balloon artists kind of stuff um anyway so and they had you know music going
Starting point is 00:47:11 and the song tub thumping came on you know the song yeah i get knocked out okay this is awesome yeah yeah did you see this happen yeah i was there okay yeah i mean and like the very beginning of the song is like, we'll be singing while we're winning. We'll be singing. Oh, I get knocked out. And like, literally like, like right now, Bo runs with like, I mean, he's got lead feet and he's like, yeah, he's so it was like literally like perfect, like choreographed. Like he was running.
Starting point is 00:47:42 We'll be singing. And he's got these long, this long while we was running, we'll be singing. And he's got this long, while we're winning, we'll be singing. And then he just falls down on the ground and then right, oh, and then he stands back up, starts running again, I get knocked down, but I get up again. And it was just-
Starting point is 00:47:58 It was awesome. Me, you and Catherine all got to witness it. It was like, that was, I mean, that was perfect. And just the way- You couldn't coordinate that. Yeah, the way he like fell and just this classic bow, just like, I'm just gonna get back up. Yeah, no problem.
Starting point is 00:48:10 So anyway, it was fun hanging out. I forgot that happened. That was pretty cool. Yeah. Great timing. That might be my favorite thing about doing those events in public is like having my kids there
Starting point is 00:48:20 and like specifically Hattie, like really understanding how business, I mean, just on a very simple level, like how business works. Like she's like, all these people are here to, you know, there might be interested in buying something from you, you know? And like, yeah. And if they buy something from us, then we can use that money to, you know, pay for our house or pay for our food, our clothes, or your Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart books. So, um, that's always really fun to just to, you know know let her be there you know and experience that figure it out so anyway yeah the whole thing was great man um i just wrote down
Starting point is 00:48:51 tons of ghosties so um that's fun you go back you said you were gonna say some more stuff about dallas so yeah this story that i think uh certain people really relate to you'll probably get a kick out of is i went full i'm not proud of some of the decisions I made. I went full on people pleaser mode, like it was out of a Gene Shorts comedy sketch. For the kiddo at home? Better or worse? Oh, probably not as good as for the kiddo at home.
Starting point is 00:49:14 That was, I mean, I was really embarrassed by that. So it was like, yeah, our first full day there, we spent all day on the golf course filming. And then Joe's like, I'm going to have a ton of golf people over. Everyone, bring your girlfriends, your wives, whatever. We're going to have a big cookout at the house. And you were like, I have to go find a girlfriend for this event.
Starting point is 00:49:32 Yeah. And when people please her, I just picked up a Dallas Rachel. I know, but it was one of those things where, so he said cookout. So I'm already a little nervous about the situation. And I'm like kind of serving. He brings out the food and it is hamburgers and it is hot dogs. At a cookout. And it is nothing else.
Starting point is 00:49:52 Yeah. Not like a side, not like anything. Not like. No potato salad, no coal. Grilled chicken. No slaw. Nothing that I could like maybe fill up on the side. Buns.
Starting point is 00:50:01 There were buns. They had buns and toppings. Okay. And it was just like this thing where it's like it's this huge like family dinner a lot of these people i met today and i've got a decision to make one i can like you know talk to joe and mckayla privately and say like hey i can't have red meat okay brutal i i could never do that and make them feel bad and make them feel like they didn't cater to my unknown needs.
Starting point is 00:50:28 I hate that feeling. Okay. Two, I could just sit there at dinner just with nothing on my plate. What kind of dinner? Is this like a long table sit down dinner or is it like people are standing and getting to know each other? Oh, we are sitting. Okay.
Starting point is 00:50:42 Yeah. I could sit there with nothing in front of me and then every single person asked, Jake, why aren't you eating? We're talking literally hamburgers and hot dogs only. I promise you. No veggie tray. I promise. Okay. Okay.
Starting point is 00:50:52 It was all I had. I just want to make sure there's like no other options. There were no appetizers. I promise. Okay. Some hosts. I'm just kidding. So yeah, option two is I sit there with nothing and then it eventually just gets brought up.
Starting point is 00:51:05 Jake, why are you eating? Oh, tick bite. And then everyone's like, oh my gosh. And then Joe and Michaela here. And now they feel bad anyway. Yeah, I'm trying to figure out. Go ahead. Or option three, I just sucked down a hot dog
Starting point is 00:51:18 and put up with it. So I did it. Did you? I feel like I had to. And? It wasn't great. Oh, no, sorry. You're still allergic? Eating it was awesome. Yeah. I mean, I had to and I it wasn't great or no sorry still allergic eating it was awesome yeah I haven't had a hot dog in three years it was great so why'd you choose hot dog
Starting point is 00:51:32 over hamburger I just figured it was less true red meat okay I figured to make me less sick okay because I could just fair I could eat in three or four of them I yeah I was hungry but I was like I'm gonna do one and I'm gonna eat it so slow I'm going to eat it so slow. I'm going to savor it. I'm going to eat all this bun, you know, anything to fill me up. And so I just sat there and ate a hot dog. Yeah. Like, I feel like on one hand, like the hot dog definitely has less red meat, but the hot dog is obviously just like way less good for you, you know? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:52:00 Yeah. So I'm like, how can you really judge? And if you haven't had a hot dog in three years and then you have one. Still can't, that can't be great either. Yeah. So I'm like, how can you really judge? And if you haven't had a hot dog in three years and then you have one. Still can't. That can't be great either. Right. So that happens. And thankfully, like Derek or Trey or anyone who knows me, we're like, Jake, why are you
Starting point is 00:52:12 eating that? Yeah. You know, and then like it gets brought up anyway. Right. So I get by with dinner. Like, I'm just going to eat this hot dog. And I'm like ashamed of myself. I'm like, gosh, how do I do this stuff?
Starting point is 00:52:20 I just I don't know. I don't like my options here. And then as dinner's wrapping up, Joe's like, everyone hop in in your cars i got a place to show you best dessert in dallas like it's amazing it's called the baked bear custom ice cream sandwiches and so i'm like i've been doing so good with i haven't had a sweet i haven't had a dessert in over a month now i'm losing weight i and it's easy it's getting easier and easier not to eat these things i'm like gosh dang it because you know the same thing it's like i don't want to let anyone down we're all in line everyone's getting something i have to be the guy like jake why are you getting anything and i was like i've been trying to eat no added sugar in the last month when he's like
Starting point is 00:52:57 hey it's it's on me sure and on top of it i'm pretty hungry because all i've had for dinner doesn't look bad is a hot dog so like i need something and so i go straight from red meat that i'm allergic to to chocolate chip cookie on top brownie on bottom and cookies and cream cookies and cream ice cream in the middle yeah and there was a rumble in the jungle that night oh my i mean yeah a few hours went by because that's how it works the like the allergy doesn't kick in immediately which is why it was so hard to like you know pinpoint initially what was going on with me but oh yeah 11 p.m oh boy my stomach was just getting these just one two punches just so you need a nozzle cleanser but i did end up i snuck down to the kitchen later that night and found bread and peanut
Starting point is 00:53:40 butter and had like a nice like peanut butter sandwich to kind of like you're so funny like you know that this guy's your friend like would you feel like obviously we're closer friends than you and joe but like you would have said something to me right you should say something to me i would for the record i think i think i understand like the hard the hardship of like i don't want to inconvenience people but at the same time they would really appreciate like like they're they're obviously hosting you they you to enjoy yourself. It would be awkward if, if you think that they're like kind of people that are like, Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry. Let me go get you Chick-fil-A, you know, or something like, no, you don't have to do that. Like, do you just have like a string cheese in your
Starting point is 00:54:17 like fridge or something? Like, you know, just anything like a peanut butter and jelly, you know, but, uh, but it was fun to kind of because rachel is the same way she's probably even worse than i am so i didn't get to text her much this past week but i just texted her i was like i went full rachel mode tonight i was like i can't wait to tell you what that means later she was like oh i can't wait she gets it yeah she's always doing stuff like that oh i think that's that's totally fine i mean so it's fun that we at least went in dallas you know we we get it so that was fun the baked at least went in Dallas, you know, we, we get it. So that was fun. The baked bear. I want to try that. It was awesome.
Starting point is 00:54:46 Yeah. Customized. So yeah, they have all these like homemade cookies and brownies. And so it's like, that could be the, you know, the bookends of your ice cream, whatever you want. You can do a cookies or cream cookie, white macadamia, and then any ice cream in the middle and you can even do toppings on top. They had a place like that.
Starting point is 00:55:01 My sister used to work at UCLA and I went and visited her when I was like ninth grade. And when you were in California, UCLA? I did. Yeah. Cool. UC San Diego? UC Berkeley? UC Beach? UC Beach. Anyway, but there's a place like right around UCLA's campus called diddy reese and it was one dollar for that that you mentioned this before i think it's amazing i'm sure it's inflation now you know biden's america 450 but at the time one dollar fun yeah it was awesome so i'm sure the cookies were smaller than you know dallas everything's bigger in texas but yeah anyway one of the other things that happened at dinner mid mid hot dog is i found, I found some new, like great friends. I texted Rachel that I have a crush on a couple as a whole.
Starting point is 00:55:49 Whoa. New friends, Josh and Maggie. Okay. Awesome. For one, they're from Lancaster County. Oh, Amish. Yeah. And they're like, what? And I was like, and I have friends from there, TJ and Brooke. And so we talked about that. They were kind of familiar with walk and love and everything. Just so far, I just connected on so many levels. They went to Lancaster Bible College. We talked to churches in Dallas. Okay. It was just, we're just connecting on every level. And Josh is one of the like YouTubers and TikTokers that we're like collabing with.
Starting point is 00:56:14 So we got to like film together the next day. It was amazing. What's his name? Josh what? Josh Mayer. Very similar to John Mayer, but Josh Mayer. But he gets a lot of accidental follows from that. I know.
Starting point is 00:56:23 And we were like making like some John Mayer jokes. And I was was like i bet you hear this all the time i'm sorry like you know bodies of wonderland jokes or whatever good one man good good good jake from state farm cracking jokes but that was fun and then uh on top of that oh or at dinner they were like have any guys ever heard of branson missouri and oh man me and and Joe just went off just telling him. We just, uh, yeah. You don't even know. So it was fun because Josh's brother is in the Sight and Sound Theater. It's like play right now. The Jesus play.
Starting point is 00:56:55 He's in it. He's. So. Where is he? He's Judas. He said. He said he kind of gets thrown around. He like fills in for whatever they need.
Starting point is 00:57:02 Thrown around. So, yeah. So that was fun because he was like, we're going down to Branson. he kind of gets thrown around. He like fills in for whatever they need. So, yeah. Um, so that was fun. Cause he was like, we're going down to Branson and like, he'd like around Thanksgiving and we just don't know much about it. We didn't know if you guys knew. And so I was like,
Starting point is 00:57:13 I'll see, I might see you there. I was like, there's a good chance I'll already be there. Just go. I might go see the Jesus play. Let's see if I can pick out your brother. So they were awesome.
Starting point is 00:57:21 And, uh, I found out Josh is also recently sponsored by Tacoma. So it's like Tacoma bros. So this guy's a golfer as well. Yeah, he's a golfer. Okay. Okay.
Starting point is 00:57:29 Nice. It was so fun. It was just, I just had so much fun on the past couple of days. I told every 30 minutes, I would just tell Joe, Joe, I'm having the time of my life. Just so you know, I really appreciate everything you're doing for me. I'm having so much fun. He's hooked it up. Every 30 minutes.
Starting point is 00:57:41 I would tell him. That's awesome. Joe, I'm having fun. Joe, I like this. Joe, this is fun. This is good, Joe, I'm having fun. Joe, I like this. Joe, this is fun. This is good, Joe. I'm getting a lot of dopamine. Dopamine.
Starting point is 00:57:52 I told some people the semblance of the story on the Patreon. I've been putting like a few like little vlogs, little mini. Yeah, little mini videos, little vlogs on there. But on Sunday. So, yeah, big weekend, long weekend, stand, little vlogs on there. Um, but on Sunday, so yeah, big weekend, long weekend, stand up McLean's. And then Sunday I was just looking forward to Catherine. I have not been like sitting together at church in the service in a long, like it feels like probably at least a month. I haven't, I haven't like thought about exactly how many Sundays, but like, you
Starting point is 00:58:21 know, between Colorado and San Diego and she was, you know, sick one time, I think, and Rosie, you know, Rosie's schedule, whatever, all these different things we've been volunteering in the nursery. So I was like, really looking forward to just sitting and being with Catherine in the service this Sunday. But then we get a text from our children's pastor and said, Hey, you know, would you be willing to volunteer in the nursery this week? And just with, with our schedules, with, with Rosie's schedule, we just can't. So normally the way church works is there's two services per Sunday. So we volunteer one, go to one.
Starting point is 00:58:52 But with Rosie's schedule, it just doesn't work very well. And so with Rosie, anytime we volunteer, I take the older two kids to church for the first service. You know, we all go, or I go to the service, they go to their Sunday school. And then Catherine just meets me in like Mrs. Service watches online or whatever. So, um, that was the plan. And so I, I drop off Hattie and Bo, who's great. We're doing great. Um, and anytime I go by myself, no matter if I'm late or not, I always am just like, I always want to sit in the,
Starting point is 00:59:29 in the bottom section. Cause there's a balcony as well at church, but I'm like, I don't care. Like there's always seats. Like, and I want it honestly, transparently, I pay better attention when I'm on the like closer section because that's good. You know, in the balcony, sometimes I, my mind wanders or I look at my phone too much or whatever. Um, so in our church, I'm sure maybe this is how it was growing up too. Like they have ushers, you know, that help you find seats and especially they love it. You know, when it's, when it's like pretty full, they're like, you need a seat and you see just one, you know, whatever. And of course I'm just like, I can, I can find my own seat. I think I see one right here, you know? And so this guy like starts and it's during the worship time. So everyone's standing up singing and this guy walks down like, you know, a quarter of the way
Starting point is 01:00:08 down the aisle, he's a quarter of the way through. And, uh, I'm like, do I follow him or do I wait until he finds a seat? And so I'm, I like kind of started walking maybe an eighth of the way. And I was like, no, I'm going to stay here until he finds something. Um, see somebody over here on the left, like kind of notice that I'm looking for a seat. So they're kind of scooting over or whatever, but he's keep, he's probably three quarters the way down now. I'm talking like fifth row, um, finds a, finds a spot like motions over to me. So I have to wave off the people over here and make like, thank you.
Starting point is 01:00:35 I'm good. I'm good. Actually, I appreciate it, but I'm going down here and he finds the seat. You know, there's a woman on the very end and then there's like four seats next to her. But this woman is closing her eyes like deep in worship. Ooh, tough spot to be in for you. Just open, like open hands, like not even singing, just literally like looking like she's just taking it in.
Starting point is 01:00:55 And this guy just kind of just stayed in there. And I'm like, I guess we'll just kind of wait for her to be done. I don't know. And then tough position to be in. But like I'm standing there and it feels like everyone's staring at me. Like if it was me, I just would have probably just eaten a hot dog. And I'm like, in that case, yeah, just just go for the red meat and get out of there. That's the new phrase. Just like when you really take one for your own team.
Starting point is 01:01:15 Honestly, man, just eat the hot dog. I just had to eat hot dog. Yeah. Yeah. Like, yeah. So eating crow. Yeah. I'd eat dog. So, I mean, I couldn't take it. 15 seconds max. I just very gently put my hand on her shoulder and said, I'm sorry, ma'am. And she didn't even open her eyes. Like to the point where I was like, maybe this woman's blind. I think she might be.
Starting point is 01:01:37 She wasn't. Okay. But like, she just kind of scooted back a little bit and I scooted, scooted past her, sat down. And then once worship was over, she kind of like sat and like kind of touched me. And I was like, scooted, scooted past her, sat down. And then once worship was over, she kind of like sat and like kind of touched me and I was like, thank you so much. You know, whatever. Very sweet, older woman. I mean, she's 70s probably. Um, and then, you know, the service is going on and, uh, I texted Catherine about, it doesn't matter, whatever.
Starting point is 01:02:00 I texted her about something during the service. So obviously I was still a little bit distracted. Um, and she, that like triggered her to realize like you took the van, the Rosie's car seat is in your van. And so I was like, brick, like crap. Like I have to go get the van and like, and this was like, you know, 10, 15, 15 minute drive to and from church. Uh, we're supposed to be there around 10 45, 10 50 to volunteer. So I have to leave like immediately to get her. Oh, gosh. And I'm just like, of course. And during the sermon, like the part in the sermon,
Starting point is 01:02:33 I forget even honestly who he was talking about, but he was talking about somebody in the Bible who was fat and lazy. So he's like, I mean, you know, he's like interpreting like, you know, the verse. He's like, and I mean, he's just saying he's fat, he's fat. And when you're fat, you're lazy. Like this, this is a, this is a symbol of laziness and sloth and, and, and just like taking advantage of the gifts that God's given you.
Starting point is 01:02:56 And literally right when he said that, like I had already started stepping to leave, but it looked like I had just like, you know what? Okay. Yeah. All right. You sprint out of there. I'll take my ties somewhere else. Who's lazy now. Short strides, but they get me there. I get knocked down, but I run out again. Oh man. I mean, it was just, and for whatever reason, I like ducked down to like three quarters of my height thinking that that was a better move. So I'm like, I'm like walking out the sanctuary. I don't mean I'm on like the fifth row. Like, it's not like people didn't see
Starting point is 01:03:35 me. There's a very unfortunate timing. So just, if you're a pastor out there, just remember that there's other reasons besides just, you know, your bad pastoring that people are leaving potentially. So that's funny that like, I love when that happens sometimes when I'm performing comedy, because people will get up to go to the restroom, but you can always address it like, Oh, they didn't like that joke. Okay. She must have diarrhea right now. I just reminded her or whatever. And the other thing that reminds me of, have you ever heard Matt's Matt Ford story about one time when he, yeah. Civil something yeah basically so our friend matt blackford he does uh kent city k-life uh and he has a story when he was in college one time he was in like
Starting point is 01:04:12 this uh american history class it was one of those things like he was so like he he didn't get to eat breakfast that morning normally he eats lunch before this class he wasn't able to eat lunch so he is like starving it's an afternoon class and he says like the whole time he's in he's sitting in the back of this class and he can't pay attention to anything all he's thinking about is how hungry he is he's zoning out probably 15 minutes goes by he's just like all right enough is enough like i'm not even retaining his information because all i can focus on how hungry i am right i'm just gonna leave i'm just gonna leave the beauty of college yeah i'm just getting out of here i'm gonna go and i'm gonna go quickly i deserve some food so he gets out leaves goes and gets, doesn't think much about it.
Starting point is 01:04:47 He gets an email from his professor later that night. And it's like, dear Matt, I would like to sincerely apologize. You know, when dealing with a subject matter like slavery, I know it can be an issue. Oh, dang it. At the beginning of the story, I should have said that Matt was black. Oh, yeah. Yeah, he's black. Yeah, you kind of. Matt black, yeah. Well, dang it. Matt's black. issue oh dang it at the beginning of the story i should have said that matt was black oh yeah yeah he's black yeah you kind of black yeah well that's black ah dang it well it's still a funny story yeah basically he gets his email he had no idea they were talking about like slavery and all this like awful stuff in class and then it looks like just out of nowhere just like all
Starting point is 01:05:20 right in an instant match like get me out of this class the teacher's like this is like oh my gosh what did i say i mean it's tough it's tough to talk about this stuff and then matt felt so bad and then he had to be like no it's okay i wasn't paying attention i didn't even know what do i say honestly i yeah i never listened to you it was so boring that i try to slide next time maybe uh yeah engage a little more so yeah i love that love that story. Just poor guy. So good. Anyway. So yeah, got had your, got Catherine, got to church, everything worked out, but it was a little bit of an unfortunate time. And the funny thing was like, you know, we, you know, it was like, okay, I will volunteer. This'll be a little bit, I'm tired, but whatever. We had one kid in the whole class. Usually it's like good ratio. Usually it's like nine or 10.
Starting point is 01:06:04 It's like something what's, what's going on here. Yeah. New variant or right. So anyway, it was, it was kind of like almost like a little bit of a gift in some ways. So your church experience somewhat reminded me of a story. So I went to, well, the church that I saw Jeff Skillman at probably, you know, months ago, I went by myself for the first time just visited by myself and loved uh the pastor and the preaching i heard there um well i didn't want to say his name necessarily whatever um what is are you gonna what you'll see okay and so anyway love this guy's uh preaching and so i've tried to like you know so when rachel and i are in town i'm like hey i want you to come to this church with me like i want you to hear this guy preach. Rachel and I have gone together probably three different times and he's never preached again. Okay. But I'll see him there. Like, I know he's
Starting point is 01:06:51 still there. And I've even like double checked the website. I'm like, it says pastor. I know, I know what I saw that day. I know he preached. It says he's on staff. And then there's been, I think multiple times now that we're like, either my parents are in town or Rachel's parents, or sometimes both. And I'd be like, I want you guys to come to this church and we hear this guy preach. Both of those times he has not preached. I'm like, am I just striking out? Is it just bad timing?
Starting point is 01:07:11 Or like, you know, how's this happening? And so I go this past Sunday again, I've go to this church, I'm like, I'm gonna hear him. And I see that he's in the congregation. He's kind of sitting next to me. It's like, if there was an opportunity, if he doesn't preach today, I'm gonna like, cause we have kind of some mutual friends, I think. I think he would probably know who i am sure and i was like i'm
Starting point is 01:07:28 gonna be funny i'm gonna like say something to him like dude do you even work here you know like i i swear i saw you preach one time and i've never seen you preaching i'm wondering are you employed i had this whole like conversation in my head built up and i was so excited to do and of course another guy goes over preaches i'm like all right good i'm gonna i didn't get to say it before the service but i'm gonna say it afterwards but then at the end of the service he goes up there and announces that he's leaving the church oh wow thank goodness i didn't work here dude you even i mean for like two and a half more days yeah oh my gosh i dodged one there dude i mean maybe it still would have been fine fine. Especially like you've never met him.
Starting point is 01:08:05 Yeah, it was going to be like a thing. Because sometimes I like to do that. Sometimes I wonder if there's a reason you're even getting paid. I mean, I don't know what you're doing here. I mean, if you're not going to preach here, maybe just go somewhere else. I'd get out of here. You ever thought about that? Yeah, you're too good for this place, man, honestly.
Starting point is 01:08:28 So, I mean, I truly, like, had I gotten to church earlier, I would have had that conversation with him. And then an hour later, he would have gone up and announced to the church it was his last Sunday. Oh, my gosh, dude. So, dodged one there. That would have been, I mean, all time. Just Isaac McDonald level sticking my foot in my mouth. Totally.
Starting point is 01:08:44 Just old like. So thankfully I dodged that one. But honestly, more than anything, it's a bummer because he's leaving the church and he doesn't know where he's going next. I'm like, well, can you text me? Because I heard you that one time was awesome. Yeah. Come on back sometime.
Starting point is 01:08:56 That's funny. Yeah. We're going to this game this Monday. That's right. How fun. How fun. How fun is that? It's fun. That's right. How fun. How fun. How fun is that? It's fun. That's great. The last
Starting point is 01:09:06 two weeks like full like 14 days worth the only time that Rachel and I've spent together has been during the Chiefs game. So I'm sure she'll be excited that we don't get to watch it together this time. I'm going to be attending it. You guys came over for the Chiefs game on Sunday. That was the first game we'd watch together. Yeah, that was fun. We have such
Starting point is 01:09:22 a good friend group and we all got to just hang out together. It's great. Rachel got there towards the end yeah rachel's been traveling i've been traveling but fun times yeah i can't think of anything specific we were just being goofy and laughing and you know whatever the chiefs looked awesome yeah they just dominated the buccaneers yeah that was fun tom yeah good times we have been having fun with the guillotine league let's talk about that yeah we haven't talked about it too much, but I mean, Brad and I are just cruising. Yeah, I've been a pretty big blockbuster
Starting point is 01:09:49 day of the day. Brad traded away Patrick Mahomes. I know, dude. But the thing about the guillotine league is you always get him back. He could be on a losing team and you could get him back. The fun thing about it,
Starting point is 01:09:57 like if you're a fantasy football person, like the fun thing about the league is that you have auction money like to bid on your free agent auction bidding but you can trade your auction money and so right i both did trades this week for money it's so fun from the same guy we didn't realize that we just took all this guy's money pleaded this guy's money completely uh yeah i traded him patrick mahomes and 45 of his 100 dollars for the season and i traded him another guy for like 15 of his dollars so sorry austin
Starting point is 01:10:23 but hey maybe he's set you know maybe he's got all the players he needs now anyway yeah it was just yeah it's been fun yeah we're doing pretty well i think jake and i both in one of our leagues specifically like i don't know if it's the same league but one of like one of my teams is a lot better than the other um same we have had some uh some some people drop obviously week. You know, you have some losers out there. Somebody had, I think, two. They went down, right? I think that was the team that we thought was going to lose, and then they somehow pulled it out.
Starting point is 01:10:53 Oh, they did? Yeah. Yeah, there's some serious beef between Poindexter and Goal. They're getting into it. Do you want to kind of pour one out for the people who've been knocked out? Do you know their names? i'm trying to look now so we have um she was a member in last year's guillotine league i met her after the jacksonville show uh-huh natalie let's give it up for natalie good okay um let's see who else got knocked out recently oh Samuelson
Starting point is 01:11:26 oh yes Samuelson Samuelson Springfield correspondent to the stars Samuel you'll be loved you'll be missed the other one I can remember the one that was kind of a bummer no one saw coming George Blue
Starting point is 01:11:45 George when you lost I'll be honest we were all blue George Blue was sad we were I don't know anything do you know him?
Starting point is 01:12:00 I don't know I just he sounds like a good guy from his name it's a good name it's like I was rooting for you, George Blue. He's got the name of a dog too. Either one, like a dog named George, a dog named Blue.
Starting point is 01:12:10 Yeah, he's just probably a good old boy. Oh yeah. I also, in the midst of conducting another trade that I did this week, I found out I was dealing with one of the Hoosier boys. All the Indiana. There's a bunch of them. Guys who came to F12.
Starting point is 01:12:23 And so. Be honest, Hoosiers. Did you guys collude on the link? I think they all got in early. Yeah, let us know. I don't think you're all patrons. Something happened. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:12:36 But one of the guys, as we were doing trade negotiations, he was also in the process of proposing. So I'd like to give a shout out to Cameron and his new fiance, Alicia. Cameron and Alicia. I didn't get a pronunciation guide. A-L-I-C-I-A. Oh, Alicia. Alicia.
Starting point is 01:12:52 I grew up with a girl named Alicia. No, not in Indiana. No, that's not how it was. No, not in Indiana, I said. Oh, in Indiana. Yeah, shout out to the Hoosier boys. Let me give a shout out to them. Cole, Chris, Noah. This is a pumped up version of the same thing. Shout out to the Hoosier boys. Let me give a shout out to Chris Noah. This is a, is a pumped up version of the same thing.
Starting point is 01:13:06 Shout out to Cameron and Alicia, Alicia, Tim. That's like a real one right there. Drop that track. Shout out to them. Yeah. Anyway, 18 league has been fun. Jake gave me a really hard time last week because I tried to, I listen when you trade in fancy football, obviously you're trying to trade for something that you think would better you in the long run. I sit around a voice memo and I think the words I said while screaming in my
Starting point is 01:13:35 phone were, is this how you conduct your business? Are you kidding me? I was like, is this how you, how you sling tables and cutting boards? Listen, Travis Kelsey,
Starting point is 01:13:44 he sucks. Patrick Mo is the best quarterback ever boards? Listen, Travis Kelsey, he sucks. Patrick Mahomes is the best quarterback ever. The only reason Travis Kelsey is anything. Like, that guy wouldn't be in the Hall of Fame without Patrick Mahomes, no doubt. He wasn't good with Alex Smith. Phrases in a way where even non-football people can realize. So it was like... This will be good.
Starting point is 01:13:57 So I... Yeah, what's a good way? So I have a garden. Okay. Didn't say garden. I don't know. I'm trying to think of something. Go ahead, Botanist. Okay, I have a garden. Yeah, why did I choose something I don't know i'm trying to think of something go ahead
Starting point is 01:14:05 botanist okay i have a garden yeah why did i choose something i don't know anything about this is gonna make it way harder myself i have so i have a baseball team horticulture guy i'm a horticulture hoarder okay i'm abandoning garden what is something else universal that i also know something about i i have a house i run a gas station perfect i don't know why no this is good i run a gas station congrats and i put out a little listing to some of my my vendors and i say hey i've got extra gas pumps be looking to do a little trade this is ironclad so far everyone can understand this scenario. You know, you don't just have an extra gas pump
Starting point is 01:14:49 that you're just willing to give away to the BP down the street. I over-ordered my gas pump. Oh, shoot. Dang it. I have a surplus of gas. But let's say your parents have a lemonade stand and they gave you seven gas pumps.
Starting point is 01:15:02 I should have done lemonade stand. You have an extra gas pump look it's the next time you're at a gas station you're gonna be like that one over there they're just that's just too many they should get that one away they should trade that bad boy i think everyone has a perfect understanding what's going on so okay i talked to everyone in like our little message board that i assume we all use uh-huh i assume the gas industry they're on discord a lot so me and my gas discord okay trying to understand how that works but i say that my vendor is hey got an extra gas pump yep but i have a lot of uh my smoothie machines broken oh yeah so i would i would be looking
Starting point is 01:15:36 specifically for a smoothie machine uh-huh i missed for the record, I missed the smoothie machine memo. So then Brad comes up and he's like, hey, how about I take your nicest gas pump and instead I'll give you, what would it be? I'll give you. The nacho cheese. I'll give you almond joys. And like, yo, I have. Almond joys. I have so many. Almond joys are And like, yo, I have- Almond Joys? I have so many- Almond Joys are incredible.
Starting point is 01:16:06 I have so many candy bars. I have probably some of the best candy bars. I am so set on candy bars. Whoa, whoa, whoa. What kind of candy bars you got? Oh, yeah? What kind of candy bars you got? I've got every style of M&M and Skittle.
Starting point is 01:16:19 So everyone's happy. I have every option there. I got Hershey's white cookies and cream. I got the authentic. I got a hundred grand paydays. I got Snickers, uh, two shareables,
Starting point is 01:16:32 two in one, three musketeers. You forgot to mention along with my almond joys. I also offered you straight cash, homie. And you offered me an almond joy that like is already out of the package. Like it's, it can't even really be used.
Starting point is 01:16:44 He's, he's in free HD right now. Okay. Sorry okay sorry i gotta go back to the metaphor pedro mahomes no no chase claypool he's literally not even on a team he went to free agency get over the chase claypool that was the almond joy no i thought you were talking about pedro mahomes no it was when you offered you were like i'll take travis kelsey for chase claypool and eight dollars i was like what he says no i was like he's not even going to see the, he's terrible. And I have so many good wide receivers already. I just, yeah, I threw it out there. Listen, you, I watched the episode where Michael said, we never take your first offer.
Starting point is 01:17:17 Right. So I knew you were going to take it. So I was like, okay, let's start out ridiculous. And then you were like, okay, now we're talking, which is what you said. It was offensively ridiculous. You were like, are you kidding? And then I sent you something else. You're like okay now we're talking which is what you said it was offensively ridiculous you were like are you kidding and then i sent you something else you're like that one's closer but then at the same time free agency passed and oh i found a smoothie king for myself or a smoothie machine came and they delivered plenty of almond joys themselves no no no they got me my smoothie machine yeah it's like great i'm set and then after that happens brad's
Starting point is 01:17:42 like what about this what about a second how about I give you a smoothie machine? I was like, no, it's like the exact same smoothie machine, but like a little bit worse. Yeah. So I was like, I mean, had I not just done what I did? Yeah. That would be enticing. And Brad's like, oh, sorry. I didn't see that either. So we were not able to find a middle ground. I mean, there's been multiple times we've talked about the guillotine Lee where you're like, yeah, did you see this? Or do you see that thing? Like, I'm like, I don't see any of that stuff i struggle with that app i told you like it's so funny brad i get lost every once in a while he was talking to train i was like you guys ever get lost on this app i was like you sound so old dude i literally have to like you
Starting point is 01:18:16 know you can like cancel like close out an app and like let's just start over i do i'm just like i don't know where the group chat went. I'm leaving this thing. That's so funny to update the app. And I will say there are parts of it that are a little complicated, but it's just funny to think that you're just like, I got to just start. I got reboot here. It's not worth figuring out. It's just like, I know I could like restart this thing. Let's get back to the homepage. So anyway, I mentioned an old man who's like clicked on some program. He's in like, you know, like he's, he's in's in dos x and he's like let's just restart the computer because i don't know what i'm at just give me back to the home screen let's see dos x that that takes five minutes to restart right give me back to the gas station metaphor let's say
Starting point is 01:18:55 you're a gardener i love that you went with the horticulture route let's just say i mean you're just you have cuttings right you have cutting. I just went to something I know nothing about. Let's say you operate a bed and breakfast. Yeah. Let's say you work at finance. Uh, I guess if you're listed as on Monday, we are going to choose game Monday night. Shout out to, by the way, Andrew shooty works for the chiefs. The one that gave us the tickets ghosty, um, in the guillotine league, in the guillotine
Starting point is 01:19:20 league, shooty booty. And, uh, yeah, if you want to, to oh my parents might be coming too fun because my dad wants my mom's never been to like a chiefs game raiders is the perfect one to go and my dad is like you you need to see like just the environment is the home of the chiefs which you incorporate into your stand-up set yeah which works great in kansas city we'll see how to des moines i think luckily is close enough to where people you could do it i think that was another one that i like did not plan on oh yeah So when you said improv show, kind of Freudian slip, you were doing an improv show over there.
Starting point is 01:19:48 All the best things, you know. Yeah, people appreciated that. It was funny. But anyway, my dad was like, so I think I'm going to take her to a game in December. I was like, don't. I was like, just come. It's a primetime game. It's going to be warm.
Starting point is 01:20:00 Come Monday. Yeah. And so he's like, oh, I don't want to take her to a Raiders game. And I was like, it'll be fine. My mom's an adult's an adult yeah she'll be fine she's seen an R-rated movie yeah passion of the christ scott just said just finished probably would get there right around 11 30 just call just call in should we do that now you want to yeah let's do it now now oh also written down shout out olivia she's a ghostie that i met uh at one of our same volleyball games just real quick shout out i joking She's a ghostie that I met at one of our same volleyball games.
Starting point is 01:20:25 Just real quick shout out. I jokingly, because she came with like Luke and Bailey. And I think Isaac made a joke. He's like, you probably listen to Ghostrunners because that's the only people who usually come. And she's like, I do. And we're like, oh. Oh yeah, Olivia. Cool, yeah, yeah, Olivia.
Starting point is 01:20:36 Yeah, we met her. I met her at McLean's as well. Brad met her randomly, yeah. As well. Yeah, she was awesome. She's from Georgia. Yeah, in slash florida yeah and came here she's an athletic trainer for ku and she had heard us talk about some sort of you know youth ministry or sorry like a young adult ministry in kansas city she dm brad like what was the name of
Starting point is 01:20:56 that we told her it was the block yeah got connected and yeah has found some some community through it which is awesome and also is giving me tickets to late night, which is like KU's first practice thing. Oh, cool. And they've been kind of known lately for like having some pretty infamous acts come, like Snoop Dogg came a couple of years ago. It was pretty controversial.
Starting point is 01:21:15 Anyway, but this year I'm so pumped. DJing for late night. Anderson Paak? Nope, better. A-list. Tiesto. Calvin Harris. Some of you don't think of him as a DJ. Oh, not a DJ. I'll say... Pharrell.
Starting point is 01:21:28 You think of him more as a basketball player because he's a basketball player. But he's retired and he's one of my favorite people in the world. Larry Bird. Oh, DJ Bird. DJ Wings. With a Z. No. Think about the largest basketball player human. Shaquille
Starting point is 01:21:44 O'Neal. Shaquille O'Neal. Yeah, he is a DJ. Shaq is going to be at late night. That's kind of fun. You know, like if, you know, one of the three people I would ever have dinner with, if I could, you know, in my life. Congratulations. Hope you get that dinner. Yeah. It'll be Shaq, Peyton Manning, and Paul McCartney for the record. Fun group.
Starting point is 01:21:57 Yeah. So, um, anyway, that'll be fun. Shout out to Olivia for all that. She was cool. Yeah, she's just cool. I want to give her a shout out. Fun, fun, fun. All right. Let's call Scott. Let's call. Let's call today. Let's call today. Scott Peck. FaceTime.
Starting point is 01:22:13 Audio. Shout out to Scott for just really recognizing how poorly we could hear him last week without a microphone, but just continuing to talk. Yeah. Stop. I was like, no one is going to, we're going to have to translate all this. You don't understand. Like these mics are very directional. Yeah. They work great if you're talking to it. All right. I'm calling Scott Peck now. Check, check, check, check, check, check, check, check, check, check, check, check, check, check, check, check, check. Hey boys. Hey, what's up? Check.com. Um, that's what I'm talking about. All right. Uh, check, check, check, check, check, check, check, check. Hey, boys. Hey, what's up, check.com? Check, check, check, check, check.
Starting point is 01:22:46 That's what I'm talking about. All right, Scott, congratulations. You somehow. That was egregious. Yeah, congrats, Scott. That's awesome, man. Good job, man. I've decided I'm too much of a bully, and that's why people aren't voting for me.
Starting point is 01:23:00 So I'm going to be so positive for every single vote. Oh, you guys are congratulating on my first W this week. Yeah, you, you did great. I really, I didn't put my best foot forward apparently, which I will say, I'm not saying I deserve to win, but there's so many people complaining. They're like, I mean, Jake's talking about humidity. I spend all day outside working in the humidity. That's not the scenario. That's not what I said at all. I was like, you're in a restaurant at night for an hour, and you go outside in nice, humid air. People were like,
Starting point is 01:23:28 just roasting me. They're like, I don't know. I've been to South Florida in the middle of the summer, and it's really humid. I was like, is that what I said? I don't think so. Anyway, Scott, you won last week. You get to choose the order. This week, the category is the
Starting point is 01:23:44 top four best things about fall see i feel like i kind of want the first draft pick but i i'm gonna i'm gonna be a team player here oh wow and we're gonna go uh brad yes dang it there's a it's a clearer topic all right brad me jake okay i get i go third and fourth. What is that noise? Can you, can you not do that please? Hey, if, if you're going to have the car door open, can we have the seatbelt on please? What? Yes. Your car was dinging. All right. We're good. We're good. We're in the car. We're on blue cheese. We're ready to rock and roll. Okay, great. Brad, what is your first pick? All right. My first pick, uh, the clear and obvious choice. Uh, I mean just a hundred percent Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Thursday,
Starting point is 01:24:31 Friday. If you're a Maxson fan, I'm talking football, football in general, even, even watching football, playing football with the boys playing catch in the yard. You know, the, the grass is a little bit crusty, a little bit hard sometimes. I mean, and it's just a glorious experience. Just the other day, actually Bo Hattie and I, uh, we do this game where I throw the football up on the roof and they think it's so fun to try to track it and catch it. Haven't caught it yet, but how he's learning how to like run and like look at the ball and try to like predict where it's going, which is awesome. Okay. Yeah. Getting better. So just football in general, man, the pig The pigskin. You're welcome, Brad. I gave you that one.
Starting point is 01:25:06 Yeah, that was going to be everybody's first pick. You think so? I don't know. It is pretty giving you the first draft pick. I hope you pay it forward somewhere down the line. If I ever win, I don't know if I'll ever win. He was trying to just suck up to everyone now. I don't know.
Starting point is 01:25:20 I haven't won in a few weeks. If anything, I'm like, hey, I mean, no one likes me anymore. It may not happen. Who knows, guys? We'll see if you vote for me. All right, Scott, what's your first pick? Okay. My first pick is a, I mean, technically, yes, you can get it at other times in the year,
Starting point is 01:25:40 but it does not hit the way it does in fall. Okay. And that is a delectable treat known as the apple cider donut. Oh. Oh, you should see Brad's face right now. Good answer, Scott. Good answer. Good answer, buddy. That's perfect. No, it's so good.
Starting point is 01:26:00 I had apple cider donut for my second pick, too. Don't you? Dang. I wanted to say it. I wanted to say it I wanted to say it dang it to make memes about how condescending and rude Brad is
Starting point is 01:26:12 to all of my great sports I can't believe that was your first pick I don't know if I've ever consumed an apple cider donut ever they are good I've never eaten it there's gotta be people out there I mean that's i feel like that's got to be received with some some aplomb scott can you go can you go on uh not speaker can you go like
Starting point is 01:26:35 just straight from your phone yes hold on i think maybe your microphone will be a little bit better is that is that better oh yes good call brad good call thank you scott yeah this is nice okay but for real you've never had a site you've never gone to louisburg cider mill here in kansas city uh my ex-girlfriend is from louisburg can i bring it up please thanks well they make a mean cider it's not backing down um no i'm sure i would like it had i you know if i too late now don don't eat sugar ever. We'll never know. We'll never understand how great of a schmaw that just was. Okay.
Starting point is 01:27:11 All right. Scott chooses some random donut. Okay. Okay. So if I don't, if I don't make fun of Scott, Jake will, this is great. I think that's part of it, right? A hundred percent. Share your thoughts.
Starting point is 01:27:25 Okay. A hundred percent. You got to share your thoughts. Okay. That's a freaking joke. My first pick is going to be kind of more of a throwback, but, you know, trick-or-treating. Oh. One of the best things about fall. Talk to me. I even look forward to it. I think we've talked about this on the podcast, Brad, about like, you kind of, you gain back
Starting point is 01:27:43 the allure for it again once you have kids. And I'm like excited for that because right now I'm in the stage, I'm losing it. But even as a kid, I still remember that time. Like I probably would have already had my Halloween, you know, outfit picked out. Like I already know what I'm going to be for Halloween. Like it's a major holiday when you're a little kid. And it's just one of the best things to look forward to just like, uh, now notice I didn't say halloween i'm not saying halloween because i don't think halloween as a whole is one of the best things about fall but i think trick-or-treating specifically whether you have kids or you
Starting point is 01:28:11 are a kid is one of the best things about fall it is so fun just get to pick a costume palmer is trying to get me to be a disney prince for halloween and i just am insisting that my i will be prince maverick prince Maverick yeah she's like you can be Prince you know whatever I forget his name I was like honey I'm gonna be Prince Maverick I will still be your prince but I will be wearing a jumpsuit and aviators nice you showed her wow what a dad I would either I would just say no at that point. Or like, be like, I'm going to be the prince. Have you ever heard of like prince, middle-class prince? It's where he wears jeans and a cardigan.
Starting point is 01:28:52 Jeans and a pullover. It's like the office where he's like, I'm dressed as a, what does he say? Like a moderate consumer or the average consumer. Oscar's outfit. The rational consumer. Rational consumer. Yeah. That's your, that's your prince, princedom. Okay. Yeah. Oh yeah. That's good. Yeah. The rational consumer. Rational consumer. Yeah, that's your Prince-dom.
Starting point is 01:29:07 Okay. Oh, yeah, you got it. That's good. Yeah. No, I don't hate it. I think, I don't know. Halloween these days has become, like, as a dad, now I'm getting almost more sensitive to, like, all the dark stuff.
Starting point is 01:29:20 I didn't say Halloween. I didn't say Halloween. But when you go trick-or-treating, some of these houses are, like, legit scary, and I'm worried about it. Scout them out beforehand. Yeah, you're right. I didn't say Halloween. But when you go trick-or-treating, some of these houses are like legit scary and I'm worried about it. Scout them out beforehand. Yeah, you're right. Like you're going to rob them. What do they call that? Like kind of scoping a job? Yeah, do a little recon.
Starting point is 01:29:34 It's kind of like on Home Alone when he's doing the addresses and he's like, Scott, my podcast, just a second. He's like, number 524, right? Now, Scott, shut up! I'm doing a bit! What are you saying?
Starting point is 01:29:48 Scott can't hear you. Okay, Scott, I'm teasing. What do you have to say, Scott? I'm just asking if in Stratford, if there were specific neighborhoods that you'd go to that gave out, like there was a neighborhood in Latha that gave out full-size candy bars.
Starting point is 01:30:02 King size? That's nice. I mean, I should have used that in my gas station metaphor earlier you'll hear that later scott but um no honestly we didn't move to strafford till i was 10 so i think that's kind of just trick-or-treating stop then so it was just like i did all my trick-or-treating in springfield uh where there were actual neighborhoods and then uh i think i gave up trick-or-treating for a dog i think that was probably the trade-off not bad yeah brad wouldn't ever offer me a trade like that scott i i feel like i feel like back And then I think I gave up trick-or-treating for a dog. I think that was probably the trade-off. Not bad. Yeah. Brad wouldn't ever offer me a trade like that.
Starting point is 01:30:28 Scott, I feel like back in the day, Scott, you and I went, not even exaggerate, it felt like 200 houses. There's no way. We filled up, I think one time I had to go dump a pillow sack at my house. Pillow sack. Pillow sack. Ebenezer. Pillow sack's a great word what is it called i feel like i'm losing the word a pillow case pillow case pillow case wow yeah pillow sack there you go i mean like like i just remember like we obviously would start at
Starting point is 01:31:03 one of our houses but it felt like we went so far, like away from our house. We did. Yeah. Yeah. Anyway, good times. That's classic. Like shout out to our dads. Cause they were like up for it.
Starting point is 01:31:15 You know, like, cool. You know, they kind of followed along with us. So anyway. Oh, hello. My next big, oh, Rachel Koop is in the room and she's got a plant. Oh, she's got the cutting. You want to show everyone on camera the cutting? Yes.
Starting point is 01:31:29 Thank you to whoever gave this. I'm going to find a cute pot. Oh, Rachel, your lid is not sealed. You're just dumping water out. At least it's water. Come on in. Thank you to whoever gave me this plant. I'm going to find a cute pot for it this weekend
Starting point is 01:31:45 we will give you an update on next week's episode give me a description for a cute pot oh into the mic I don't really know maybe a fun color like white or oh crazy
Starting point is 01:32:01 alabaster maybe Swiss coffee or an actual fun color like pink okay blush pink though pig pot actually i think like a peach would be nice i'm looking for a peach pot this weekend okay peach pot weekend great i know what we're doing saturday pp uh bp hunting Saturday. PP. VP hunting. Shoot. Shoot.
Starting point is 01:32:28 No, no, no, no. Justin. Own it. No, no, Justin. We'll edit it out later. Hey, you heading out? Yes. Okay.
Starting point is 01:32:37 With my water. Get that away from your computer. Oh, thanks, Rachel. Rachel, what do you think? See you tomorrow. Just real quick, Rachel. Get into the mic real quick. I need your first quick reaction. Oh, apple cider donuts.
Starting point is 01:32:50 Oh my gosh, yes. Really? I just texted my friend Taylor. Dang it. And asked if they got them at their orchard that they went to this weekend. Dang it. They're so good. That was Scott's first pick in our s'mores and we were giving him a hug.
Starting point is 01:33:02 That's an excellent first pick. Wow. Thank you. You're welcome. Yeah. I think they might be the only two people on'mores. That's an excellent first pick. Wow. Thank you. You're welcome. I think they might be the only two people on planet Earth that think that was a bad pick. It's a bad first pick. It's not a bad pick, Scott.
Starting point is 01:33:13 Obviously, donuts is a safe pick. Well, you took the number one draft pick, all right? Because I gave it to you. Yeah. What was number one? Football. Okay. It's fun.
Starting point is 01:33:24 I mean, I was struggling. Not when you're in a guillotine league. Not when you're in a guillotine league and lose the first round, she says. All right, Rachel, good to see you. See you tomorrow. See y'all. Have a good one. We're still in water.
Starting point is 01:33:35 No, it's okay. My house, my house, my house. Yeah. Take Rachel on a date tomorrow night. Fun. Yeah, I'm excited. Yeah. Nice.
Starting point is 01:33:43 Thanks. Okay, my next pick is going to be and i even thought of this weeks ago uh before i knew it was going to be our s'mores specifically not the leaves changing specifically a bright red leaf love it because i had a few on my windshield like tucked under my windshield wipers and i was looking at him i was like that is such a bright red color like how often does like bright red appear in nature i'll tell you not often okay maybe a very rare sunset or like human blood we're talking roses but dang it okay flowers flowers flowers okay hey flowers flowers ladybugs uh stop stop strawberries crap grab oh fruit oh no Oh no. Watermelons. Oh. Crap.
Starting point is 01:34:25 All right. Either way, I just think it's really pretty. And yeah, just the bright red. Ah, maple leaves. Dang it. Maple leaves are red? The logo. Oh yeah.
Starting point is 01:34:36 Like, oh yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I was saying Toronto maple leaves, blue. Anyway, yeah, like the Canadian flag logo. Yeah, you're saying straight up red leaf. It's like a bright red leaf. You're not going with all the changing of the leaves. Just one color, baby. Yeah, the Canadian flag logo. Yeah, you're saying straight up red leaf. It's like a bright red leaf. You're not going with all the changing of the leaves. Just one color, baby. Yeah, the bright red leaf.
Starting point is 01:34:49 That's fun. Okay. It's just so rare. Like a lot of trees turn orange. I love it. Special trees, they turn bright red. I'm like, that's fun. Go Chiefs.
Starting point is 01:34:57 Yeah, those colors are hot. That's fun. All right, Scott, back to you. So does that rule out foliage as a pick? I don't think so, because he's very specific yeah no you get in there okay i don't i'm not gonna pick it right now okay it's it's it's in my back pocket in case anyone my other one stole it thanks for letting us know okay um brad i i really hope you can appreciate this one because you're going to have to finish this sentence for me. And this is an experience that can be had while driving, whilst driving in the car, cruising the Faye perhaps on a nice brisk fall evening.
Starting point is 01:35:37 And it is called Windows Down, comma, Brad, I'll let you finish. And I think of you doing it kind of in a high voice. Heat on the feet! Heat on the feet windows down heat on the feet let me explain this so ideal temperatures we're talking between 55 and 68 okay when it's that temperature outside I I will explain the nirvana that can happen while you're driving. We get it. You roll down your window and you click the little icon with the arrow pointing to the feet. Oh, that's how it works.
Starting point is 01:36:14 Oh, the heat on the feet. Yes, yes, yes. It's not very often used. And you don't turn your heat all the way up. You turn it maybe 67% of the way on the dial and you go maybe moderate, moderate fan blow. And you just feel the nice warmth on your feet with a little cool, brisk air filtering through your car. Oh, and maybe some good tunes.
Starting point is 01:36:40 That's how, that's how you drive on a fall night. It's a good pick. You still explaining that? I had that written down as well. Scotty, that is a great pick. I've, I've, I've done it recently. I've done it more, uh, in the mornings, actually, it's been a beautiful briskly brisk morning. It's supposed to be cold tomorrow. Low of 37 Saturday morning. I'm looking forward to it. Is Monday going to be okay? Hope so. Yeah. You were like, it's a warm night. I was like, is it? I think cold front's coming in.
Starting point is 01:37:07 Either way, good answer, Scotty boy. Thank you. Thank you, Brad. So I have two. I'm going to go, number one, I'm going to go pumpkin flavored anything. You would. Of course I would. You would.
Starting point is 01:37:19 Basic boy. Basic boy. Basic. Yeah. You're just going after the the constituents going after the voters here no yes got a female audience of course that's part of it but but i anybody that doesn't like act like they like pumpkin flavored things is a liar like like i don't prefer it over just like i don't prefer it pumpkin bread pumpkin spice latte yeah I'd rather just have a caramel latte than pumpkin spice. Okay. Well, fine. Thank you. I don't know. But there's something about it. Like it,
Starting point is 01:37:51 I got one, actually there's Dutch bros in town, D bros. Um, what did, what did Rachel call it? Dutch boys. Dutch boys. I went there the other day and got a, like a ice pumpkin brulee or something like that. And it was awesome. It was so good. Pumpkin just, there's just something different about it in October, November time where in, in, in December, January, no, no allure towards that. But during this time, it just, it just slaps different. That's a great pick. Uh, if you really want to pander to the audience. So great job. I guess I am part of the audience. So what's your next one? What did you say for your first one, Jake? So I can make fun of you.
Starting point is 01:38:31 I said trick or treating. Yeah. Great pick. If you want to pander to the audience. I don't know. Nice. Yeah. Nice. Okay. And then my third pick is going to be, I don't want to pander the audience too much here, but, uh, Hmm. Let's go with, go ahead now.
Starting point is 01:38:56 Bonfires. Nice. Love me a bonfire. Had it written down. There's something special about the conversation, the vibes that you have around a fire. That's just and it's fun we have uh brio shout out to cory fisher listener of the pod uh hooking us up with the brio you know smokeless fire pit so excited to fire that baby up baby yeah yeah uh yeah i would even say like a smokeless bonfires are the best
Starting point is 01:39:23 one because i've voiced before on the podcast how i can't believe how strong the scent of a bonfire is. You wash your clothes. It still smells like it makes your clothes smell like it. That part sucks. But yeah, the ambiance of a bonfire is great. Only happens in the fall. You don't do spring bonfires.
Starting point is 01:39:36 And I'm convinced maybe it's a man thing, which I know not all of our, we have a lot of female listeners, so I'm not pandering to anybody, but this, but I think men have better conversations around the fire. Write that down. Corey, write that down for your marketing. That's all I have to say. I'm thinking about that. I mean, yeah, I think men in general probably do best. Like they're not doing like, I mean, it'll happen,
Starting point is 01:39:58 but it's not as common as it is like coffee catch-ups, just like face-to-face adequate lighting. Men are like, we're both in a car. We get to look ahead. Yes, dude. You know, like it's a dark fire. We don't have to look straight at each other. That's when men did the best talking. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:40:12 All right. Good picks. Thank you. Scott, back to you. All right. My third pick is, I think I'm going to go ahead and say that, and this may get some some flack but i think thanksgiving is my favorite holiday and thanksgiving happens in the fall and i will explain why i love
Starting point is 01:40:33 thanksgiving so much and it's two reasons uh the turkey bowl the morning football game is just a classic tradition of thanksgiving that i absolutely, getting out there with the boys early morning, playing a little foosball. And then just I think the Thanksgiving dinner is my favorite meal on planet Earth. And my family absolutely balls out for Thanksgiving. You guys do pumpkin pies? Including an annual pie contest. Anybody make pumpkin? Anybody what?
Starting point is 01:41:04 Make pumpkin pie it's not part of the contest but we definitely always have a pumpkin pie bro so part of your favorite uh holiday things are playing football and eating pumpkin flavored things yeah okay yep it's a thanksgiving holiday baby no thanksgiving is the best delicious food you play a little foosball yep nice good answer glorious holiday friggin love it friggin love it friggin love it okay my next pick I don't know if a year ago from a year ago yeah a year ago you would have felt this way last year this time probably wouldn't have said this the
Starting point is 01:41:43 Rachel Koop effect I got to go season oh wow the more i've learned about it what was it knees uh knee high by the fourth of july uh-huh yeah i literally said that on the stage as we i was just i was doing some crowd work and i connected with this guy who was a i was talking to this guy who was a corn and soybean farmer which is exactly what everyone does in iowa specifically rachel's dad and i think for a brief moment, I forgot I was performing standup comedy. I was just having a genuine conversation. I was like, oh, that's awesome. I was like, my girlfriend's dad does that.
Starting point is 01:42:09 I was like, and we were just talking and I was like, oh yeah. Like I wasn't saying any jokes. I was just having a genuine conversation with the guy. Oh, that's very awesome. Yeah, knee high by the 4th of July. I know about that. Anyway, yeah, just the more I learn about it.
Starting point is 01:42:21 I mean, this is a massive deal. Huge thing to look forward to. You've spent all this money, all this seed seed you have prayed like crazy for the last six months to get the right temperature the right amount of rainfall the you know little amount of wind everything needs to go perfect uh to make your money back and to hopefully be able to provide for your family and it all happens country and yes people who buy ethanol yeah and uh farmers are the heroes of america you would know you remember it's like you just wrote a country song jake maybe did you corn makes whiskey oh my gosh yeah i know that actually that came on the radio
Starting point is 01:42:57 yesterday but anyway just uh you know for the right person i think that's got to be one of the best things about fall if you fall into a certain category is time to harvest. Time to harvest. Time to harvest, baby. And then my last pick is just going to be layers. As I've started to,
Starting point is 01:43:15 you know, care more about my clothing in the last year or two of my life. I kind of look forward to it. Like I always tell Rachel's like, I don't hate like fall golf coming up, get to wear some joggers, maybe some quarter zips. I think that's fun. Like getting to layer up a little bit on the golf course or on the way to work wherever uh getting to layer up a little bit
Starting point is 01:43:31 getting to show off the uh the attire a bit it's kind of a fun thing to look forward to you've been wearing nothing but t-shirts and shorts for like four or five months and it's like okay i get to break out a new part of my uh closet and uh get to layer a bit. So it's my last pick. If that's not pandering to women, I don't know what is. You find those like quarter zips and monsies, you're like, oh yeah, I remember I have that shirt. Yeah, that's a good feeling. Yeah, that'll go great with these pants.
Starting point is 01:43:56 That's a great feeling. If I wanted to pander, I would have said scarves or like something like that. But you don't like that. Exactly. That's why it's pandering. Well, but I like pumpkin things.
Starting point is 01:44:10 What did you say, Scott? Tights and knee-high boots. Yeah, I should say. Yeah, leggings. All right, Scott, what's your last pick? Okay, my last pick are fall festivals. Ooh, like EDM? Coachella.
Starting point is 01:44:29 No, like last week we knew it's called Apple Fest in Western Missouri. Get over the Apple Fest. That's not Cider Fest. Super fun vibe. Food trucks, music. You got people with little booths set up. There's this like Western Christian church that makes these like world famous apple dumplings that are just incredible.
Starting point is 01:44:51 But yeah, just fun. Did you say Westboro church? Westboro? That's one of your favorite. Interesting. Westboro Baptist makes a mean apple dumpling. Say what you will about Westboro Baptist. Literally a mean apple dumpling.
Starting point is 01:45:05 Like they say mean things on them. If you ever see a picket sign and it says Apple dumplings sold here, you go snap. Thank me later. Yeah. But no, just super fun vibes. Really fun festivals. You can find those all over the place, but those are just fun
Starting point is 01:45:21 to go to with your kids. Yeah, just vibes vibes big time vibes at fall festivals that's a good pick that's a good pick i feel like i got a glimpse of that at mclean's this past saturday with brad and festival lee yeah it's been kind of like abnormally warm in kansas recently so it has felt a little bit like less like fall recently but like it's coming and coming and there's something special. I, I truly, I love the layers pick as well. Jake. I think I just, I love like what I'm wearing right now. Long sleeve tee and shorts. I love it. Or like, yeah, like jogger, same thing, like light. It's just great.
Starting point is 01:45:56 And it's fun to be outside in those, like you're comfortable out there, you know, without being too cold or too hot. It's just nice. Yeah. So I like that. I like that answer, Scotty boy. Um, okay. Uh, my last one, I mean, yeah, it's tough to pick just one. These are so many good ones. Um, I think I'm just going to go with the tried and true. It just, it's only in my opinion, good in the fall. Maybe sometimes winter is just the wonderful dish chili. I love chili. I love chili. It's a tradition that in our family, our extended family would always have chili on Halloween night. And so I think of chili like equating with Halloween and there's only like a finite window of chili season. And I think like I love soup in general, soup season's great. Soup season extends a little bit more, but chili feels like chili football,
Starting point is 01:46:45 like something about it in the fall just is nice. Would love a Sunday sitting on the couch, watching some Red Zone with a big bowl of chili. Chili's nice. Chili and some saltine crackers. Yep. Fun meal. Oh yeah.
Starting point is 01:46:56 I'm a club cracker guy, but I like saltines. Okay, okay. We used to do saltines and then my dad got a raise. I'm just kidding. No, that's a great then my dad got a raise. I'm just kidding. No, that's a great pick. I got a raise. It was like, yeah, turkey ground beef. Now we're talking.
Starting point is 01:47:13 There we go. That's good. Scott, you got any honorable mentions? Also, the camera's going to die here soon, but whatever. I don't think. No, I didn't have a very extensive lift this time. So no honorable mentions for me this week. Nothing about Top Gun.
Starting point is 01:47:33 Watching Top Gun in the fall. There's something about it. You got anything else? I got some. Yeah, I was just going to wrap up with Scott because my arm is getting very tired of holding it up to the microphone. I have one final thing to share with you guys. This is just, it literally just happened today and it almost made me do kind of a Rachel Coop laugh.
Starting point is 01:47:53 Great sound. So I was walking down the hall at, I was at the office today at BFA. I turned the corner and there was a guy on a phone call and this is the only thing I heard because I didn't hear what he was saying before I walked around the corner. I didn't hear what I was saying when I turned the corner and walked away from him. All I heard was
Starting point is 01:48:11 because the tentacles reach deeper sometimes. Ooh. What? What? What did you guys think he was talking about? Because the tent... I mean, what an out of context sentence to hear. Because the tentacles reach deeper sometimes.
Starting point is 01:48:26 And we, we made eye contact. I heard him say that. You're like, go ahead, man. And I think you, I think you realized like, oh wow, that sounded really weird. That was a bad timing. I just was like, what is his wife like preparing octopus for dinner tonight or something? Yeah. He's, he's watching some like deep sea fishing show and
Starting point is 01:48:45 he's like really into it could be i don't know i i don't know that's a tentacles don't get thrown around much unless it's yeah you don't yeah it's not a word that you use like really just like octopus octopi that's really it yeah you're right so i thought that was kind of funny. I was like, that's not a phrase you hear every day, but he's right. He's right. They do. They do reach deeper. Uh,
Starting point is 01:49:10 last thing I'll say, Jake, uh, when you have some free time tomorrow, please give me a phone call. Cause I'm dying to hear about your week of golf. Okay. Okay.
Starting point is 01:49:20 No, I will. I'll tell you everything. I know more than anyone, Scott, you want to know every little golf detail. So I appreciate that real quick about you. Uh, live reaction. Go ahead and name drop, no, I will. I'll tell you everything. I know more than anyone, Scott, you want to know every little golf detail. So I appreciate that. Oh, real quick.
Starting point is 01:49:26 About you. Live reaction. Go ahead and name drop who was podcasting when you got home. Oh, yeah. I mean, Hollywood Joe, it's crazy. So yeah, Tuesday night, get home from golfing and everyone's over. We have this big cookout, whatever.
Starting point is 01:49:37 And then Wednesday night, get home from golfing all day long. And Michael Gallup, Cowboys receiver, is sitting at Joe's like like kitchen island and he's on a zoom call with michael irvin and joe's like hey hey so i had to be quiet because michael gallup was talking to michael irvin it's just wild so i got to hang out with michael gallup on wednesday wow yeah that's awesome yeah it's kind of wild and it was funny that same day he got dropped in the guillotine league so i thought about it was like if i get close close to Michael Gallup, it would be funny to like send a video to that person. Like, yo, why'd you drop him?
Starting point is 01:50:09 You know, like, why do you drop me? But I didn't feel like that was necessarily appropriate. And it's like someone like that. You know, he probably people want to talk football with him all day long, especially playing for the Dallas Cowboys. It's like, I'm not going to talk football with this guy. So I was only the person that Michael Irvin was also in the room. So that's my bad. Oh,
Starting point is 01:50:28 gotcha. Yeah. Michael Irvin was in a, on a computer, a different room, but still, still, still really cool to me.
Starting point is 01:50:34 Yeah. Any, any NFL player, but yeah, Scott, I'll give you a, I'll give you a ring tomorrow either. Well,
Starting point is 01:50:41 yeah, probably not early morning. It's not a fun time to chat with your friend. I was trying to think when I'll be driving tomorrow but yeah i'll call you in the afternoon okay that sounds good see you scotty thanks for thanks for uh participating thanks for joining good to hear from you dude talk to you soon thanks boys have a good evening see ya all right this is about the end of the youtube version sorry i had an hour and 50 minutes left on the sd card it's like that should be good that'll keep us from going over and then s'mores
Starting point is 01:51:04 always take much longer than I think they will. I'll do a quick recap of the s'mores real quick. Uh, just cause I like doing that. We got Brad said football, pumpkin flavored food slash drinks, not pandering, uh,
Starting point is 01:51:16 bonfires, chili. Scott said apple cider dones, windows down, heat on the feet, heat on the feet. Thanksgiving and fall festivals Jake said trick-or-treating I wrote down treat or treating Jake said trick-or-treating
Starting point is 01:51:30 red leaves harvest season and layers I don't know if this is my week I know well I love like the last two weeks like I think as much as you were like no I think I've always felt this way about the humidity I Rachel Rachel affected the that pick I think a little bit last week I think she much as you were like, no, I think I've always felt this way about the humidity. I, Rachel, Rachel affected the, the, that pick, I think a little bit last week. And I think she affected the harvest season. Obviously she definitely affected the harvest season. Yeah. I've always said, I have always said the most high maintenance thing about me is how I feel like temperature wise.
Starting point is 01:51:57 So I've always known I, I run cold, but I get stuffy soon. I think Rachel just made it more aware of like, yeah, I am. I do need to bring a sweatshirt everywhere I go because it's cold indoors everywhere. I do like whenever I was, whenever I was going to Panera and I still do decent amount, but when I was going like most mornings, it was so cold in there and it was in like the dead of summer. Why do people do that? And I would walk out and it would, I I'm, I'm with you, man. Like I was chewing ice. So I was like, I think my body was even more internally cold and it felt good outside. It feels good for like 60 seconds and then you're like ready to like, all right, just get me
Starting point is 01:52:27 back to like 71 or something. All right. Now I'm ready for the, yeah. Once you get in the car and you're like, Whoa, it's hot here. It's like extra levels of hot. So, but that feel like the reprieve from the cold air conditioning is nice. Uh, yeah. Uh, some of my, um, honorable mentions I wrote down just in case I had the first pick, I
Starting point is 01:52:44 was going to go with high school football. Just because like specifically. Friday Night Lights, yeah. Yeah, just like, then that's like a whole town can revolve. You know, if you're from a small town revolves around high school football. They're so into it for some reason. Yeah. I wrote down, this would have been pandering.
Starting point is 01:52:55 But I just, I was trying to think of full things. Can we just like deep delve? Yeah, I could tell you're bothered by this. I didn't mean anything by it. Oh, no, not that. Sorry. I was like, you want to deep dive the pander comment? No, sorry.
Starting point is 01:53:04 I want to go back to, I'm not offended by that. Of course it's a little bit like, Hey, I want to think about what people like, but I really do like pumpkin stuff. So I know you do. Um, anyway, uh, no, I'm just, I'm just really thinking more about high school football. Like there's these little things about it. Like, like the way the PA like speakers sound and like how they kind of echo just a little bit. And the way that every small town high school is playing the same like ACDC songs to warm up. Thunderstruck. Bring them out. Bring them out.
Starting point is 01:53:32 Bring them out. Bring them out. Crazy Train. Can we let go of Crazy Train? Dude, no way. The beginning of that song. Oh, that reminds me. I don't want to give away your bit, but your closing kind of bit that you do.
Starting point is 01:53:46 I would test out different songs and just see what people get a reaction. Because you have an endless supply. Especially like if they don't know the Chiefs as well. Because like those are the songs that are playing at the Chiefs more. But yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:53:57 Try some new songs. I mean, the band is wonderful. There's something about like the smell. I don't know. There's a lot of like. Like walking. Like you park your car and you're walking in. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:54:07 And you maybe, maybe you have a blanket because the bleachers are kind of cold. It's going to get cold. You got a hoodie on. A cushion seat maybe if you're a booster member. Yep. There's a lot of moms who are way too into it and they bring cowbells.
Starting point is 01:54:17 I hate the cowbell. Don't be the cowbell mom. My mom, she always had an iconic thing. Like, so I would know that she was there. She would always like cheer just once. You'd hear her just go like, like that was like her thing. Like everywhere she went.
Starting point is 01:54:33 Uh huh. So, uh, it was special. Yeah. There's something about it, man. I mean,
Starting point is 01:54:38 you get there and it's still like just sunset, like the sun setting when you're walking in for like September games. Yeah. Sun's still out. So fun, dude. Worst things games. Yeah, sun's still out. So fun, dude. Worst things about fall, bonus pick, daylight savings. Yes.
Starting point is 01:54:49 Brutal. Seriously, one of the saddest things in life. We got what, maybe a couple more weeks left? I don't know exactly. Yeah, I thought about it the other day. Because I pulled into Panera the other day at like 7 o'clock. And it was like still kind of dark. And I was like, soon enough, it's going to be 8 o'clock and still dark. I've started noticing it's getting sad.
Starting point is 01:55:03 Because there was at the peak of like, you know, whatever in June 22nd, longest day of the year. It was like, you know, Hey, golf carts need to be in today by eight 15 guys. It's like, great. And now golf courses, like when you golf carts at my seven 30 golf carts at my seven, like it's changing. Yep. Earth's axis.
Starting point is 01:55:18 That's the X axis. X axis. You got any more? Uh, other YouTube. Goodbye. YouTube. We are audio only. Now I wrote down, uh audio only now i wrote down uh
Starting point is 01:55:26 oh i wrote down bonfires i wrote down other stuff we had i wrote down the new iphone that usually come out it always comes out in september okay but i was like i'm not gonna choose this one that's fun for a but also for the right people yeah that's the thing you can look forward to every september yeah um i wrote down pumpkins just in general. I think pumpkins are fun. You don't really see them. It's fun to decorate. What do you? Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 01:55:47 Yeah. Other than like October. Really? You don't. I don't know where you're living, brother. Just decorating with them. I mean, carving them. This is all fun.
Starting point is 01:55:56 All fun and games. I don't think carving it was fun. But yes, decorating with them. Really? Yeah. I think I think like the outside carving is fun. The inside innards. No, thank you.
Starting point is 01:56:04 Gross. I just put down think like the outside carving is fun. The inside innards. No, thank you. Gross. Um, I just put down the slow down of life. I feel like, I feel like fall, you know, it starts out, it ramps up pretty quickly when school's back. And then like once, you know, football season hits, it's going, I mean, it's just a little bit slower. Um, it'd be like fall Saturdays are just a little bit more chill. You're, you're at home more. So I wrote down brisk mornings, uh, homecoming, I think just in general, homecoming. That's a good one. Yeah. Yeah. That's a good one. Uh, and then this one I feel like was not really similar to harvest, but like gave me those same vibes of just like getting out in the farm land, getting out a little bit out of the city. I wrote down hay rack rides. Oh, I thought you're
Starting point is 01:56:44 going to go corn maze. Also fun. Yeah. Growing up, like our church, we always did like a hay rack ride. We'd be the hay king. Yeah. Is hay rack ride weird to say? Catherine kept like being like hay rack ride? Yeah. We said hay ride. I've never heard that term. Oh, really?
Starting point is 01:56:57 Truly. Yeah. Maybe that's, maybe it's just hay ride. Maybe my parents just shielded me from it as a kid because I would have had trouble saying it. Hay rack ride. Maybe you just call it hay fun? Oh, yeah. That would be easier.
Starting point is 01:57:07 You roast the s'mores and hot dogs or chicken if you want to. Even just s'mores. That's a great fall thing. S'mores, yeah. Which bonfires have s'mores usually, guys. Anyway, but just s'mores and hot dogs. And then the youth group kids would play football. And it was just wonderful, magical times in our starter jackets fun times anyway um fall it's here baby it's full effect it's here
Starting point is 01:57:31 so thanks for i don't know if that was a personally like if that if i thought of that one or if that one was one submitted by ghosties but feel free to keep submitting uh ideas thank you for voting in the facebook group yeah um check that out ghost runners podcast is what it's called so search it find it find it love it get it let's do a reviews of the week mine is from dina 83 uh i've been listening for about three months now and i was hooked from the start i didn't start from the beginning but started with the most recent at the time went backwards from there i'm caught up on the new episodes and currently just listened to the episode
Starting point is 01:58:05 from after Valentine's Day this year. It's cool to go back and get references from what you've talked about in the past up until now. Can't wait to get to episode numero uno. All that to be said, love, love, love this podcast. The banter that you two have is great. I've laughed out loud more times than I can count listening.
Starting point is 01:58:21 And the jingles are the best. My husband and I are currently getting into pickleball. So if you have any tips, let us know. Keep doing what you're doing. Much love, Emily. Thank you, Emily. That is so fun. I keep looking at the camera.
Starting point is 01:58:33 No one can see me. Oh, yeah. Watch this. No one knows. No one had no idea what movement you just did. We just all took our shirts off. Yep. And by we, I mean Jake and I.
Starting point is 01:58:42 Rachel already left. I'm sorry. that was inappropriate um my comfort pod says aaron ripple five stars um i love y'all this has been one of the hardest seasons of my life and as goofy as it sounds this podcast has been a consistent source of joy and laughter for me moved long distance from my family and boyfriend to go to grad school i'm currently residing currently residing in the Middle East, and on every long drive back home, I throw on Ghostrunners. It legitimately feels like two of my best friends are right there with me in the car. So grateful for the many times I've felt down and this pod has lifted my spirits. Y'all are the best. Thank you, Aaron. That's awesome. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:59:19 Yeah. Just always fun to hear that. I was actually just talking on the phone with the guy that, you know, whatever, we were talking about the the ghost runners podcast and talking about, you know, all the cool things that have happened has happened through it. And these anecdotes, uh, are just so fun to hear always. It's, it never gets old. So thank you. Awesome. Brad, would you like to end this episode with a unique jingle? I would, um, this one, yes, we have, we have have one it was written a long time ago so some of the lyrics are gonna be old okay but this one's from I think I can say her name if if not hey I'm sorry I think it's awesome so yeah
Starting point is 01:59:56 Dossie it's awesome Dossie yes Dossie Dossie not only wrote a jingle but she recorded herself singing the jingle and I had a hard time learning the song. I've been putting this off for a long time because I think it's a great jingle and I don't want to do it injustice. Is that right to say? Dis-justice. Non-justice. Unjustice.
Starting point is 02:00:18 Disinjustice it. It's your justice. Anyway, so all that to say, we're going to literally listen to her recording and I'm going to sing along with it at times. And what's interesting somehow, I mean, Brad and I were pretty techie and this really confused us for a while. That was kind of fun. So I'm pretty techie, but I struggle with the sleeper app. Jake's really techie. And you guys don't really need to fully know, but like Brad would play the song she sent us on his computer and it sounded normal. We could hear a voice and i would download the same exact file on my computer and we could only hear the
Starting point is 02:00:48 backing track it was a wild thing we could figure it out and whatever you guys don't need to know but basically brad is gonna have to hit spacebar on both computers at the same time i forgot about that because my computer through the headphones it's like you know dossie however you exported this you're a genius because the headphones only get the monitor. And then I don't know what if whatever. It doesn't matter. It's very confusing. But Brad, whenever you're ready, my computer is ready for you to spacebar on for you to simultaneously get this going.
Starting point is 02:01:15 Spacebar. It's going to play the song. You think it's going to play right away? Because I'm on iTunes. You think we're good? Yeah, this is just a preview and finder. It's going to work. Oh, but I need to put my headphones in my computer.
Starting point is 02:01:27 Correct? Yeah, take them out of there. Which now I can't hear myself, which is fine. This is a high-tech podcast. We're going to get the new studio ready, guys. We're going to figure it out. This could go great or... Maybe one ear out.
Starting point is 02:01:43 Yeah. Yeah. Turn my headphones up. yeah all right up to you whenever gosh i keep looking at the camera no one can see me five four three two one do we get them at the same time? I have no idea. I can't hear yours. Oh, yeah. This is going to be great for Jake or Justin to edit. I forgot. This is from Jake's point of view. On the way to shoot some comedy Another time around security Trying to make it longer than the last
