Starting point is 00:00:00 uh jake i've been going to the gym more lately these days oh yeah i keep meaning to ask you more about that i don't know if you've noticed um are you lifting weights are you doing ellipticals are you chatting up honeys or like what's going on workouts what was the thing you said pool workouts pool workout aerobics i have done a few pool workouts uh every other day i'm lifting weights mainly and then the other days i'm doing more cardio. Yeah. That sounds like a great balance. What's your cardio machine of choice? I'm usually my feet on the basketball court. Jump shots. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:00:31 Draining tray balls. Yeah, yeah. I have a game that I play with myself where I run down the court. No, it's going to sound like I just play basketball, but I run down the court. I shoot it. He's out doing suicides.
Starting point is 00:00:46 That's honestly not a terrible idea. I don't hate it. I run down the court i shoot it he's out doing suicides that's honestly not a terrible idea i don't hate it uh i run down the court i shoot three if i make the three then i reward myself by shooting five free throws and then i run down the court again if i miss the shot then i have to run down the other end shoot a three and i have to keep going until i miss or until i make one fun it's kind of fun i have another little cardio option for you just as you're shooting around you can't let the ball dribble more than twice that'll get you running very much so i like that because every once in a while there's somebody else in the gym shooting on the other side so i can't use both sides so i can't run it up down i'm just laughing imagining you like all right i've been here 10 minutes the ball has never bounced more than twice i gotta keep this going and one really hits the rim like dive floor burns like dennis rodman style like into the mat your shoes are like squeaking your
Starting point is 00:01:32 shirt comes up a little bit yeah over the belly button like oh you know the rules don't do bounces about to bounce a third time we've always said said that! Uh-oh, ooh, I think this tight beat means that it's going down With some random thoughts and white meat too Midwest best friends eating fast food on repeat So come along, let's have some fun and go ahead Get on your feet, cause this is Ghost Rubs Podcast Ghost Rubs Podcast Every Monday morning we're taking ground
Starting point is 00:02:02 Ghost Rubs Podcast Ghost Rubs Podcast morning morning Anyway Brad, what were you gonna say? So yeah, I've been going to the gym a lot and it's been fun I've been really enjoying it and one part of my routine is If I have enough time in my day, I will go to the sauna either before or afterwards Yeah, and it's so awesome for so many reasons. I much, Rachel would love it because it's just, you're hot in there. She would.
Starting point is 00:02:31 And obviously you're sweating a lot in there. I'm in there. So I'm in there today and I have my water bottle because I'm sweating so much trying to replenish the flus. And I go to take a drink and I took too big of a gulp and I started kind of like very like scale of one to ten probably a three as far as choking goes okay like I
Starting point is 00:02:52 just like like it went down the wrong pipe kind of thing and I didn't I had a towel on but I didn't have anything else on okay and I thought to myself how bad would it have to be if I were because there are two other guys in there With me I was like What would it take for you to revive? Hey Choking naked man in a sauna a sweaty naked man, you know, like like what would it take? I think I would I could start doing like some high-leg maneuver
Starting point is 00:03:19 But the second that towel starts to fall over like bro, you got You got it you can you can you stuff it yeah can you wrap it you know maybe go like uh you know diaper style and like go just like straight around like through the through the legs protect give me like a loincloth amount yes like a sumo wrestler yes Yes. I need something. I don't want to see any cracks or holes. All right, that's my rule. And if that's covered, I will hide like you. I don't stop until the tears are paused. I'm just like, I started choking and I'm like, dude, I got to get this under control quick.
Starting point is 00:03:59 Because if I don't, these people are going to start like, are you okay, man? And I did not want that because I knew I was fine. I mean, what a move if you did. Just humor me if you were deranged as Dwight Schroeder. Can you imagine if I was deranged? I mean, what a move to try and get some action. It's like, here's what I do.
Starting point is 00:04:18 I go into the sauna. I take a sip. I pretend to choke. The old damsel in distress. Damsel in the steam. Yeah, damsel in distress damsel in the steam yeah damsel it's called brad bent over let's just see if anyone wants to help good samaritans yeah man anyway so yeah it's a interesting time i i yeah i hadn't hadn't done that yet and i was like please please stop doing this please recover yeah like know, like clear my throat
Starting point is 00:04:45 as much as I could about it. Oh, I hate that. I think I talked about this, whatever show it was recently, maybe Virginia Beach, but I couldn't get like, I couldn't get a frog in my throat to go away on stage. And I was like, the only way I clear this is if I had got to go like volume nine.
Starting point is 00:04:58 And I was like, I just couldn't do it. And you know, like, like some of those are like, yeah, it's still in there. It's still in there. It's still in there. I'm picturing like the, the scene from Bruce almighty where Jim Carrey's. That was like, what's put Steve Crow on the map. Yeah. Like, yeah.
Starting point is 00:05:19 Like this guy's amazing at this. Yeah. Yeah, dude. I've been backstabber. Sorry. Back. Yeah. Justin, can we have Justin put that in? Justin. Yeah. Yeah, dude. I've been backstabber. Sorry. Back. Yeah. Justin, can we have Justin put that in? My tiny nipples went to France. Justin, yeah. Hey. Justin, if it's not copywritten for whatever, put it in.
Starting point is 00:05:31 Let's try it. Nine seconds. See if we can get away with that. When the mayor... When the mayor... When the mayor... It's a response to... Oh my gosh.
Starting point is 00:05:48 You know, he's freaking out. He was great at that. I think you need to, like a true pro comedian would know there's one word that's very guttural that you can work into a set if something like that happens, where it's like, I don't know, like what would that word be? Mechanic? Anyway, I was working with my mechanic. No, I think it's got to start with like a gut or a puff sound okay Pennsylvania
Starting point is 00:06:10 okay Georgia go get your form and recently over pencil no no piece on garbage garbage is good anybody ever seen a garbage truck there's something out there there's a word anybody that's a speech therapist out there maybe that's related word. Anybody that's a speech therapist out there, maybe that's related to you, can help us out with that. It's similar to like an onomatopoeia. It makes the same, it's spelled the same way as the sound.
Starting point is 00:06:33 New, it's called, it's gut buster. Because what you're doing is you're kind of using your gut to bust the bubble. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Gut buster! Boom. Anyway, okay, yeah. Anyway, hey guys. How are we are we doing hey what's up i'm ready to get
Starting point is 00:06:48 goofy this week guys you chiked up tonight let's yeah i texted i texted you guys 30 minutes ago babe whatever it was i was like boys it's gonna be a good week about to get chiked up good free advertisement you're welcome mac you're welcome had a phone call with him today. Some fun things in the works. All I'm going to say is, Trike may be back. Who are you impersonating then? Okay, nobody actually. Big guy from Jersey. Let me tell you,
Starting point is 00:07:15 just knowing, just confirmation that real, go ahead. You mind? Oh! Happy Monday, y'all. Just confirmation that real life Brad is similar to podcast Brad. It's not like some act, you know, that I'm putting on, you know, once a week.
Starting point is 00:07:36 Whenever I watch the kids by myself when Hattie was or when Catherine was gone, there was, you know, I was feeding them this taco skillet meal. And so it's like taco meat, whatever, in the skillet, whatever. And Hattie kept being like, this meat is too spicy. This meat's too spicy. And so for whatever reason, I've developed this character where I like basically put my lips over here
Starting point is 00:07:58 and for five minutes straight, all I did was go, this meat is spicy. And then- Dude, that character is, I don't know, it's got a little, I don't know, it's got a little Walt Jr. in it. My motivation was not Walt Jr.
Starting point is 00:08:22 My motivation was the scene in Home Alone 2 where he's like, that was the sound of a tool chest falling down the stairs. But I mean, for five minutes straight, I would change up my volume on it. Sometimes I'd be like, this meat is spicy. And then Hattie'd be like, dad, do it louder, do it louder. I'd be like, this meat is spicy. You guys gotta watch this. I'm just spitting like crazy, yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:57 You guys gotta watch it. I mean, Beau. Yeah, if you're listening on Spotify. Beau was peak, I mean, two years old is exactly what you need for that for that yeah I mean can you feel it on your chin or is it no oh yeah good amount yeah you got it you got it sorry I'm glad Bo was entertained as as we're Scott and I this podcast this podcast is shaky so it really did have an origin that character yeah really is cheeky!
Starting point is 00:09:27 So it really did have an origin, that character. Yeah, it really did. Like when you were like, who was that? I was like, I don't know, except for this thing. It's this character makes spicy foods. And then like two days later, like out of nowhere, Beau goes, dad, you say this meat is spicy. I was like, okay, buddy. And then we did it again for like, you know,
Starting point is 00:09:41 a couple of minutes, so. Cheers. Is that La Croix spicy? and then we did it again for like, you know, a couple minutes. So, cheers. Is that LaCroix spicy? This LaCroix is... spicy! That's great. I think, you know, Lord willing, today when I have kids, I think it's going to really unlock new characters like that.
Starting point is 00:10:07 You're just going to do stuff to just entertain them whatever works in the moment oh yeah it's like yeah it just it just completely dumbs down your humor to like oh you think that's funny like all i do for rosie you know she's seven months old is i just make a little noise and i look at her really quickly and she laughs every time okay and when a seven-month-old laughs it's the greatest thing in the world so i'll do it i'll do it 20 times a day good yeah so good yeah kids definitely unlock some personalities 100 i love doing like a little like a little german voice for palmer like oh it's time to brush your teeth let's go to the bed yeah do you ever like when you read to her do you mess like try to like do different voices or anything oh yeah she has peppa pig books you guys watch yeah so i i talk peppa pig does she like it daddy pig yeah george george does she is she okay with it oh yeah she loves it see how he's like if i read it normally
Starting point is 00:10:57 she's like dad you need to talk in the voices no hattie is not about it she'll say dad just read it normal like or yeah dad you're reading too fast and then i'll like play the game where i'm like So Hattie is not about it. She'll say, dad, just read it normal. Or yeah, dad, you're reading too fast. And then I'll like play the game where I'll like, once upon a time, dad, you're reading too slow, read it normal. So yeah, if we're just like hanging out in the house and I just yell, Peppa. Oldest year Palmer would go, your palmers will go George.
Starting point is 00:11:27 That's fun. It's fun. Call and response there. Yeah, fun toy man. Kids are fun toys. You start conditioning Rachel that way. Have some voices, have things that make her run into the room. Is she still here? I think she left. OK, well, we'll get her back. She'll be back. She's making puppy chow. No, I don't think so. How good does that sound?
Starting point is 00:11:42 I did have a lot of sugar this past weekend in Oklahoma, and it was just hard. One, you know, it's just being offered grants like, hey, I want to show you. I was in Oklahoma this past weekend. I don't know if we said that last episode. And, you know, grants like, hey, we'll show you this cool coffee shop.
Starting point is 00:11:57 And it was really cool. And they were known for their cinnamon rolls. What am I going to do? Not eat a cinnamon roll. You're going to eat. This is my whole life, bro. And it's like, yeah, well, they're known for this too. And so I keep getting stuff.
Starting point is 00:12:07 And my kind of recurring bit the whole time is I'd just be eating Blue Bell ice cream. Like, I can't believe this is sugar-free. This is awesome. Just in denial. Yeah, like, oh, they really did a good job. What is... One of the things I had, though.
Starting point is 00:12:18 Yeah, it's in the office too, where Michael's like, wow, this has zero calories. Yes, that's... Michael, no one said that has zero calories. I tried a new food. Rachel thought it was so exciting that she took a picture of it. Ooh, let's try to guess. Yes, that's right. Michael, no one said that has zero calories. I tried a new food. Rachel thought it was so exciting that she took a picture of it. Ooh, let's try to guess. Can we guess?
Starting point is 00:12:28 Okay. The category is brunch. Eggs Benedict. Oh, I was just about to say that. No, no eggs. I hate eggs. I hate eggs. Two words.
Starting point is 00:12:36 Brunch. Avocado toast. Okay, good guess. That's a great guess. First word, similar. Second word, not a similar. Seago bagel. No.
Starting point is 00:12:46 Similar as in it starts with an A? Similar as in it's a food that shape. That size. Food that size. That size of an avocado? Or size of an avocado? Whatever. Maybe it's not that close.
Starting point is 00:12:57 Okay. How big is your baby? An avocado size. Two words. Two words. Something shaped like an avocado. It's in that realm of like. It's healthy?
Starting point is 00:13:07 Yeah. Okay. Yuzu. Get Yuzu out of the way because that can be tricky. No, I don't know. Go ahead. Uh, grapefruit brulee. You think that's close to avocado toast?
Starting point is 00:13:19 Well, I guess grapefruit and avocado. Grapefruit and avocado. That's like first part's one. Oh, something you can hold in your hand. It's like a fruit via vegetable. They both have a little rind to them. What do we, what is a grapefruit and avocado. Grapefruit and avocado. That's what it's like first part's warm. Both something you can hold in your hand. It's like a fruit be a vegetable. They both have a little rind to them. What is a grapefruit brulee? I didn't know either brother.
Starting point is 00:13:31 I feel like I wanna say that in the Robert Goulet voice. You remember that? Grapefruit brulee. Grapefruit brulee. Grapefruit brulee. I don't know what it was, but I knew I liked grapefruit. And so I kind of asked Rachel, she's like, I think it's like brulee is like usually
Starting point is 00:13:44 when they like fire something up. That's what's what i think it's gonna be kind of crunchy and yeah it was a little crunchy on top they like it they like so it was like half this great fruit this grapefruit it is crunchy new character unlocked episode 185. umy on top. It's half of a grapefruit. Was it warm? Yeah, yeah. Warm grapefruit. Tasted like exactly like grapefruit. A little bit of like a caramel sugar crunch on top.
Starting point is 00:14:13 A little powdered sugar too. Interesting. Sugar free too. That was the best part. Amazing. It had zero calories. No thing. I bet that actually sounds like,
Starting point is 00:14:23 because I used to eat grapefruit and you put sugar on top of it and that makes it not so tart. Oh yeah. Grapefruit, I've never seen a grapefruit utensil either. You see a grapefruit spoon? Oh, we have one. Wild invention. We have one in the house.
Starting point is 00:14:36 Smart. Two actually. Good for you guys. It's designed in the shape to slice the scoop. It's got like a serrated edge at the end. Yep. Brad, this looks interesting interesting i'm looking at pictures right for a brulee right now big weekend for me jake's all grown up it was a fun weekend you said it was jam-packed oh yeah just nothing grant uh huda burgers who we went down stayed with
Starting point is 00:14:55 my friend noah also came with his girlfriend we had so much fun grant is an amazing tour guide a little too good of a tour guide rachel's ready to move to oklahoma city no i mean he like showed rachel i think he had rachel he had like a girl in mind he just showed rachel the coolest spots with the brightest colors with the biggest windows with the most plants i mean it was the most rachel like spots she's like i love this place you go to the next place this place even better and no filters needed yeah it was just awesome and roach oklahoma city really does have some cool spots we went on a walk he was borderline courting rachel i was like thank goodness i proposed yeah right yeah i've sealed the deal early yeah but it was so fun all the girls got along great and we had so much fun um yeah you
Starting point is 00:15:34 guys play i know you said grant's really into pickleball right now did you get yeah we played a good amount of pickleball uh played that a couple times played uh some golf which was really fun and yeah had a great weekend and didn't have sugar the whole time. It was awesome. That's amazing. Good for you. Yeah. Well, that's the most amazing thing
Starting point is 00:15:49 is that you can be social without sugar. We've always said that. Totally. Like when everyone says like, hey, we gotta take Rachel to Braum. She's never been, I'm not gonna have the ice cream then. No, no. Cause you've already kind of like
Starting point is 00:15:58 you had your grapefruit brulee. Right. And then when Grant's wife, Lauren is like, hey, I'm trying to, I just got a little bit of Blue Bell left. It's cookies and cream. I'm not gonna be like, okay, I'm trying to, I just got a little bit of blue bell left. It's cookies and cream. I'm not going to be like, okay, I'll take it. I'm not going to take the little bit left. You know? No, I'm not going to do that. I'm sure no, the barbecue sauce had sugar in it. I have a sugar-free weekend. So that's what,
Starting point is 00:16:17 it's amazing about barbecue sauce. So it was great, but we're back at it. We're back in the swing of things. I feel like today was kind of a wild day for us. Um, in the midst of everything that we were doing a lot of it was a very business day a lot of uh a lot of important conversations went down today in the middle of it my friend alex dimshak kissed me up and says hey i got a speaking gig in about 30 minutes oh yeah can i call you i want to put you on the microphone and uh initially i was like uh any other time yes yes, but I think it'll be busy. Phone calls get moved. It's going to work out. Brad leaves. He had to go.
Starting point is 00:16:48 What did you go do? That was going to that networking event. Right, right, right, right, right. Yeah. Networking. Big day. Go to lscustomcreations.com. Instagram, Facebook.
Starting point is 00:16:57 I have no heads up. All I know is that Dimchek said, hey, I have a speaking gig. I want to put you on the phone. Yeah. And he FaceTimes me. Did you Gen Z it up right away? What up, fam? Dim check said like hey, I have a speaking gig. I want to put you on the phone. Yeah, and He facetimes me and did you did you Jinzi it up right away? What up fam? What's crack-a-lackin
Starting point is 00:17:16 this audience dish audience is Is lame what's a good word Scott off the heezy She's What's a good word, Scott? Off the heezy. Off the heezy. Kind of hard to say heezy with that face, isn't it? Heezy. Heezy. Not for me, baby. It's so easy.
Starting point is 00:17:36 Okay, so you answer. And it's, yeah, about 500 high schoolers, what it looks like. But it's FaceTime. I mean, it's so grainy. I can't really say anything, you know? And he's like, everyone say what's up to Jake. And then they're all like, hey, kind of half-heartedly. And then Dipchak just goes, all right, Jake, we got a, Jake, we just called Clayton from The Bachelor.
Starting point is 00:17:57 He just said hi to him. I thought I'd call you next. What do you have to say to the people? I was like, this is the bro- Everyone say hi to Jake. What's up, Jake? All right, Jake, go ahead. Ah, so he's just holding up a little phone screen in front of 500 on a stage. Yeah, it is just me talking through the phone into the microphone.
Starting point is 00:18:17 He's got a microphone. Yeah. I don't know if they can hear me. I it it was awful because what I did for the next four minutes is just bomb just joke attempt after joke attempt after joke attempt and I don't know if I was supposed to be funny Rachel made that point she's like well did Alex say like be funny and I was like no maybe I wasn't supposed to be but I just tried to do like he's like all right what do you got for him I was like for him he paid so much money to be there and all he's doing is calling his buddies
Starting point is 00:18:47 and saying, Go ahead, man. Give him something good. Okay. Well, okay. The end of the story is that about an hour ago, Alex called me to apologize. He was like, Dude, I'm sorry. He's like, you recognize that. Yeah, he's like, that did not go well.
Starting point is 00:19:01 And that is my bad. I did not. I did not prep you at all. But he said he went in there and he had a talk playing out. And then everything got switched around. And in the theme was like it was friends. TV show was the theme of like the day. But then they were all doing two truths and a lie. So Alex is like, Oh, I'm going to do like I'm about to call three people
Starting point is 00:19:19 in his two truths were like, you know, one of them was a lie. Who's going to call because they were his friends, whatever. I'll try to like incorporate what they were doing. Okay. Anyway, he's just like, yeah, Jake, what do you got for him? And I was just like, all right. What's up, guys? I've had a lot of you guys, maybe you're at a stage where you're looking for like, what am I going to do someday? Or, you know, I hope I'm happy someday, or I hope I find love someday. Well, one thing you don't want to do is ever join a reality tv show about you'll never
Starting point is 00:19:46 find love that way i don't know and it was dude it was just crickets dude just crickets and i'm not saying it deserved a laugh no but i i didn't know what i was doing no no but no no i mean the medium of facetime into a microphone i was so embarrassed you miss a you miss a half a second like it cuts out for a half a second, you're done. Yeah. You gotta go two seconds less on everything you say. What's up everybody? Somebody scream!
Starting point is 00:20:14 Like you can't, that's like way too long of a thing, I think. That was your downfall. It's Dimchik's fault. That went awful. I forgot what the middle was. I know the end was something like, all right, anybody have any questions for Jake?
Starting point is 00:20:27 No one really says anything. And then one guy raised his hand and he says, can you cash out me $1,000? And so Dim Check's like, hey, Dawson wants to know if you can cash out him $1,000. And I was just like, uh-huh. I couldn't think of a way to make it funny. So I was like, no, thank you.
Starting point is 00:20:41 And that didn't get any giggles or anything. And then he was like, all right, before you go, Jake, you have any like words of advice for him? And I was like, not again, not another short answer question. And so I was like, okay, well, let me try and think. I was trying to think, maybe I'll use someone with their mascot. And so I was like, what high school do we have?
Starting point is 00:21:00 And Dimitri's like, everyone on the count of three, yell what high school you are. And they all yell, and I go, okay, I could not hear. Exactly, you got so incoherent. Everyone yell, all right, one, two, three. Panthers! Panthers high school! All right, so like, I think you said Panthers. So like, yeah.
Starting point is 00:21:20 Well, the reason I couldn't hear what they said is because Alex was at an FCCLA event. It was about 12 different high schools. So I was like, oh. Answer us that next time. Yeah. So that ruined any like inkling of a joke I might have had. So I was just like, I don't even know what I had.
Starting point is 00:21:38 But I know just being like, get me off this phone call. I'm so like hot and nervous out of all these important phone calls I had today. I didn't feel this way. Anyway, yeah, it was so great. He like literally had to call like dude that was my bad that's amazing just yeah thing after thing you know that was a good day great day good day big day um man yeah it's been a been a busy week i don't know even kind of what i want to talk about exactly i'll say this um i think right after we recorded this podcast last week, I had a second encounter with a podcast story character from a while back. Uh, if anybody remembers the story, it was a pretty brief story,
Starting point is 00:22:14 but of some delivery guys that came and picked up a desk that I was building in, uh, or that I built and sent to Connecticut. It was the guy that was like, can I take a squirt around back of the shop? His name is Jamie. He's an older guy from new york city the new jersey the what's it called where do the giants play the metal metal lands yeah so it's jamie and his cousin todd i caught it um but they don't go by jamie and todd when they're talking to each other uh todd goes by toad and jamie goes by bone and so and so you know like yeah we were recording last week and they said like oh yeah we'll be there around six o'clock to pick all this stuff up
Starting point is 00:22:51 and so we were getting done at like five and this guy's calling me like hey we're here and i'm like gosh dang it i knew they were gonna come early so i was hustling over there and anyway it's this huge order and it's been months, like finally to like get this thing ready and out and everything, it's been kind of an ordeal with this client. I think I even mentioned like this guy that I had to send multiple stain samples to and stuff. Yeah. Anyway, and Jamie Bone, Bone was telling me,
Starting point is 00:23:16 Bone, you know, I talked to him on the phone a couple of weeks ago and he's like- It's a Bone phone. Yeah. And he's like, don't attach any of the tabletops. We can do that ourselves. It's easier for us to, you know, pack everything if we have those separate. And so we get there and I have to go to my storage unit where all this stuff is.
Starting point is 00:23:34 So we get to the storage unit and he's like, he's like, why aren't the tops attached? Why aren't the tops attached? And I was like, well, you said not to. You're like bone. Yeah. We were on the bone phone. And you said that's, you said not to. You're like, Bone? Yeah. We were on the Bone phone, and you said that's, Don, to do that.
Starting point is 00:23:46 You said that's phone. And so he was like, well, how long is it going to take you to attach them if we do it right now? And I was like, I don't know, like four minutes per table or whatever. So then we did all that, and I mean, these guys, it's really a character piece more than is a great story because, I mean, Bone's like classic, like New York,
Starting point is 00:24:03 you know, like, I mean, just like very like brash, but he's a nice guy, but he's just like very direct. Like, how long is it going to take? How long is it going to take for you to do this? And then Toad, Todd is like, I can't think of exactly like the character, like a good example. Kind of like the way the lady sounds in Monsters, Inc.
Starting point is 00:24:22 Mike Wazowski. He's like, I don't know about this, Bone was asking yeah he's like i don't know about this bone i don't know i don't know if we can do this bone hey toad toad we can do it we can do it toad come on over here we're gonna hit toad and so it's just like these two guys just like talking back and forth and and jamie is just i don't know he's just this very interesting guy like sorry who's jamie oh sorry bone got it uh you know we get there and I'm trying to explain everything to him and he's like can you please open can you please open the storage unit and I was like yeah totally and I was like you know saying something else I was getting open he's
Starting point is 00:24:53 like I understand that can you please open it up we really need to get going okay and so the rest of it took us I don't know I called you when I was done because we had more stuff to talk about and it took us probably an hour and a half at this storage unit like it was but it was an hour and a half of like working very quickly because i felt very under the weather or under the gun from from bone and toad but i can't i mean the yeah the the way he talks that did yeah that other guy i don't know i don't know there i don't know i don't know bone i don't know if we're gonna fit it all bone you know if you interact with them again you should ask the origin of those nicknames well obviously todd toad yeah i don't know what where bone comes from yeah but i mean he called me the other day when i
Starting point is 00:25:36 was here uh because he was frustrated with the he's not the guy that we delivered to like being really particular about a few things and he's like i mean is there it's it's a it's the size of a like this guy has a scratch on one of the chairs that he made and he's like it's the size of a hair and then you hear toad in the background be like maybe like a half a hair and it's just like hi man yeah yeah there's back and forth on everything he's being a real bonehead yeah exactly they they didn't say bonehead i'll just say that but um interesting guys they do colorful language yeah they do good work uh but all in all it was just an interesting it's just it's just one of those like cultural differences of like these guys are very direct very quick to you know say exactly what they need and i'm more of a nice like hey good to see you guys how was your trip you know you had to go through st louis bet that sucked you know and he's yeah he's much more much more western hospitality
Starting point is 00:26:30 throw me off a little bit yeah but then once i realized like it's all business i'm like great i i think i can resonate with that a little bit let's let's do it let's get this done i don't need to be your best friend here so how did you meet these guys? Through like the shipping website that I use. Bonezone.com. Yeah, enter the bonezone.com. Autobone.com. Yeah, get in the bone, Autobone. I tell you. Let's do some more. Let's do some more.
Starting point is 00:26:55 Ebone. What's that one? eBay for bone. Oh God. Amabone. Amabone. Jeff. Owned by Jeff Baysbone. Amabone. Your turn. Your turn. Googlebone. Emma bone Emma bone Jeff owned by Jeff baseball bones
Starting point is 00:27:09 Google bone YouTube bone Yahoo MSNB bone UBS bone What can bone do for you Bone this is good that bone red bowling on fed bone X okay It's like on the office whatever Michaels tried not tried not to say, that's what she said. Bonex! Anyway. Can't believe I didn't think to bring this up
Starting point is 00:27:50 when we were talking about brunch, brulee brunch. The guy who would not have gotten along with Todd Bone very well. Toad Bone, sorry. Hey, hey, Bone. Yeah. Is our waiter during brunch. He did something kind of funny at the beginning. Rachel, of course, asked like, all right, would you rather get this or this and he was like and it went off a little bit so we all kind of chuckled like oh that's kind of funny like the
Starting point is 00:28:15 waiter just is doing like a bit right now okay great and so we kind of laugh and i think that little chuckle we gave him just oh the door. The floodgates. But not to be a comedian, to be, I don't know, just flamboyant. Oh. It was interesting. So it was like one joke landed, and he's like, I think I know what these people want. And then the rest of the time we were ordering, the rest of the time we were with him, I'd be like, all right, I'm going to take the grapefruit brulee. Yes.
Starting point is 00:28:42 That's what he would say. Like, that's what he would like. He was like like and can i also do the berry french toast of course babe i was like babe yeah i was like okay he babed you yeah and then rachel maybe rachel's ordering like and can i get the toast like no i'm just playing i'm just kidding yes queen you should have seen your fricking beautiful face. And he would like make little puns with like, oh, slay on that. Slay.
Starting point is 00:29:09 And like while we're just ordering, like it was like- Grapefruit brew slay. Basically. It was just like, dude, I don't know if he does this all the time. I don't know if it was just because we laughed at the um, but it got so, it just, it was a 180, just in the middle of ordering.
Starting point is 00:29:29 Just every time you gave him like a breath, he would do an ad lib with like a different like, but it didn't seem like that's who he was. Like it seemed like a character, like just the way he dressed and the way he carried himself, the way he like talked the first half of the conversation, he was not that way at all. And then we laughed one time and then he just like, just went full, just fill in the blank. I love the idea of a waiter being a different character for each table. Like he gets done with you and he's like,
Starting point is 00:29:54 all right, we figured out what we're getting over here, what? And then he's like, Peppa, to someone else, George. All right, y'all, we figured this out. It's one thing to not carry a notepad with you. Oh, I gotta remember the orders. Sure. But the big leagues are like, I'm a different person, each table.
Starting point is 00:30:12 And then they're like, how's that like pepper jack burrito? And he goes, that pepper jack burrito is... Spicy! So y'all won the pepper act, right? Yeah. You know, like whatever. Pepper Jack Boreal.
Starting point is 00:30:34 He starts mixing them. Will slay your toots off. Toots off? Toots, toots, toots, toots. Tootsie roll, tootsie roll, toots. Cotton candy. Oh my goodness. That's great.
Starting point is 00:30:50 Anyway, it was weird. I kind of forgot about that until just now. I was like, oh yeah. I don't think anyone at the table really debriefed. Really? You didn't talk about it? I don't know if we did. We were like, no.
Starting point is 00:30:59 It's just Oklahoma City for you. Yeah, that was that. Also the past, I feel like the past week had been with another married couple just having more time a lot of wedding planning has gone on recently kind of fun yeah we got a date we got a venue yeah i've been loving uh big things to get yeah easy rachel's looking at wedding dresses this weekend we're moving and grooving yes fun we're already dreaming up food ideas the whole drive down to oklahoma city it was a lot of wedding planning stuff. And it's so fun. Yeah. I don't know how much I'll actually end up doing.
Starting point is 00:31:29 But I already have so many creative ideas on how we can just make this not it's not gonna feel like a summer camp or anything like irreverent, but just like, just fun. Like even just like I'm trying to think of like every aspect of a wedding that like could be enhanced. And like, a lot of people try to do creative things with like, we're going to announce that which table goes to get dinner by like a song. I think we could do way better than that even. This is good. I think let's brainstorm right now.
Starting point is 00:31:54 Can we brainstorm? I've already got it down. Oh good. Tell me. The aisle is a slip and slide. Yeah. Is that it? You're fastest and slipperiest.
Starting point is 00:32:00 No, no, it's not slip and slide. Can you imagine like, okay, yeah. One, like I take off my shirt and I'm like, go ahead first down the slip and slide. Cash, oil me up. We have sauna Brad entered. Let's do it. As much as I might beg, do not Heimlich me.
Starting point is 00:32:17 Yeah, I wanna be slippery. Do not Heimlich me. Okay, so you figured it out. It's gotta be a competition. Love it. I think that's so fun. Love it. I think that's so fun um it's just different creative things we could do with the food different things we could do one thing i really want to enhance is the time waiting for the
Starting point is 00:32:32 ceremony to start because that's the time a lot of people get to weddings early as you should okay and i don't know what you do what i do is i look at the program the front of it and i look at the back of it and then look at the front of it and i look at the back of it and i just memorize the wedding program. Oh, Rachel Coop, here she is. Speaking of weddings. Speaking of weddings, yeah. Say yes to the dress this weekend, Rach. Thanks, B.
Starting point is 00:32:54 Thanks, B. Great choice. Rachel, I was just telling them about, remember the morning I had the grapefruit brulee? Oh, we have a picture of it. She has a picture of it. It was a beautiful beautiful picture and do you remember our waiter that day? That was I don't you guys heard Rachel, but she responded with yeah Yeah, what's it it just so it did it feel like he was not that way at first Yeah, I don't know if you want to be on camera rachel's in her pjs but
Starting point is 00:33:26 she also just goes uh yes i remember and it was like three times that length really it was so long it was a solid like six seconds like all six people at the table were reacting to it you could have started harmonizing with him. Anyway. Yeah. I was just talking about the waiter and how just unique he was. Very unique. Very unique.
Starting point is 00:33:54 She said very unique. Yes. Pretty quirky. Pretty quirky. But yeah, a lot of wedding planning has gone on. Really, a lot of what's happened is... That's a good exit. What's happened the last three days mainly is Rachel will see a color
Starting point is 00:34:07 and she'll nudge me and she'll say, wedding color? And then I say, yeah, sure. And that happens about anywhere between 25 and 35 times a day. So you have like the whole spectrum basically. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:34:19 We have a lot of colors. So far we've said yes to black, white, red, yellow, green, blue. Kind of a roger swing state if you know what i mean so that's part of it um i've never seen rachel be on pinterest really ever before she's on pinterest a lot now which is fun okay yeah and uh it's fun and i'm getting really into honeymoon planning and i think rachel is down to be involved but rachel's also said like you can just choose something yeah which is fun too that was i might not even tell her that was like my main thing that i had to do like for our wedding
Starting point is 00:34:53 was like just you be in charge of the honeymoon because that was one of the things i paid for or like our parents or my family paid for so oh okay good to know i think okay talk to steve nah that's fine he's already got money you're old my dad posted on the internet about uh rachel and i's engagement and it was about uh he said something about he's like there's poor and then there's both of your kids getting married in the same summer point so i can't stress it out anymore i'll pay for the honeymoon there you go um yeah that's great man i'm glad glad to hear it's progressing it's so. I'm so excited to keep doing it. I have a text.
Starting point is 00:35:25 I asked Gunnar for honeymoon advice because I think him and Emily probably travel the same way me and Rachel do. I'll look at that later. Any typos in that? Oh, probably. But that's all right. Love them. That's all right.

In the same realm of like looking for things, Rachel's been trying to, not for the wedding, but for the house, trying to find a welcome mat. And she was texting me a screenshot. She's like, it is so hard to just find a normal, just a normal welcome mat. Okay. She was sending me screenshots.
Starting point is 00:37:35 If you got it, haunt it. Hello, witches. Where is she looking for these? There's no way it's that hard. Horror movie and chill. Is she looking at HalloweenWelcomeMatch.com or something? Okay, okay. Is she at a party city or something?
Starting point is 00:37:50 Okay, let me go to the next slide. Halloween warehouse. Pumpkin spice and reproductive rights. What do you think that on your welcome mat? It's so funny to me, regardless of where you're at on that, just like to put like how you vote on a welcome mat is so funny to me. Yeah. That's a funny thing.
Starting point is 00:38:06 Tax the rich and come in, girl. Witch. Like. Tax the rich and enter, witch. Wow. Yeah, what are other funny door maps? It's like how woke and political do you have to be to like throw it on something like decorative?
Starting point is 00:38:24 Yeah. Support small biz and integrate your own riz i don't know yeah yeah that was improv that was fully improv okay i didn't even know the end of the sentence when i started i liked it yeah the riz i like the riz conceal and carry be fruitful and merry oh nice b nice. Bingo is easy. You go again. Right to bear welcome gifts in your arms. I love it.
Starting point is 00:38:53 I love it. I wish I had a camera because you could just see like like the cringy like cry that he had. He was like, I don't know about this, but I'm glad I found one. I like that one oh man good one scotty boy all right another one big words manifesting smaller words come back later oh my gosh so lame dude what all this um what did search? If the house is a manifest and don't come a knocking. I love that. Doesn't make any sense.
Starting point is 00:39:32 It doesn't rhyme at all. I love that one. Let's just make our own. Don't come knocking. Don't come knocking. That might be the funniest thing Scott's ever said. That's so funny to me. Oh, man. The house is manifested. Don't come knocking! That might be the funniest thing Scott's ever said. That's so funny to me. Oh, man.
Starting point is 00:39:48 The house is manifested. Don't come knocking. Oh, my gosh. That's so stupid. That has me in tears. That's so funny. Golly. Okay, this one says...
Starting point is 00:39:59 Well, I'm just gonna have you read this because I don't know what the first... Oh, no, no. I get it now. It's... Okay, it's starting to say welcome and then it cuts itself off it says welk dash wait are you vaccinated that's a doormat that's somebody manufactured that yeah does he have a screenshot of where they're coming where this
Starting point is 00:40:17 website is this looks like a from the google app like it looks like she typed in something with doormats yeah he's coming up oh my gosh somebody's having looked at it until this has used the internet before is this like did you vote for trump yeah wait yeah this one big letters hold on we're probably not wearing pants i hate all of these dude drinking a mega pint of wine, come back later. I like the, hold on, we're not wearing pants, then you just open your door with shorts on. Got them.
Starting point is 00:40:53 Got them. Next welcome at, protected by F around and find out surveillance. Oh my gosh, this is the political. So I only saw like one or two of these. I was like, oh, I'll talk about this on the podcast. This one, big letters, WAP. Wear a mask, please.
Starting point is 00:41:10 Which is wamp. That's not even a WAP. Wamp, wamp. Yeah, you can't- It's a silent M. Yeah, you can't use A for A and then not put it in. WAP. Wamp.
Starting point is 00:41:22 Hey, hey, wamp. Wamp. Wamp, wam, wham, wham. We don't wear pants. No pants, wham. That's so ridiculous. Okay, this is the last one. And this one, oh, just this is the kind of stuff I hate. Not in a people mood, period.
Starting point is 00:41:42 Come back never, period. People are buying this i always i was always curious like oh you know those graphic tees back in the day it said like really mean things like like not like super like your mom is the worst person in the world or anything but it was like yeah not not in a people mood come back never it was like sometimes the people that wore those were very kind people and i'm like why does this match it's like when people's instagram captions isn't how they talk and you're like do you not see that this doesn't match like yeah we're in a t-shirt that it's like it's like that's a that's a not nice t-shirt and you're a pleasant person what are you doing with that thing one of my uh one
Starting point is 00:42:15 of my co-workers is a worker look one of my co-workers is a he's a pretty quirky guy and he pretty quirky he uh he always has a a bottle of bottle of Pepsi and he puts it in a koozie that says ooh that sounded harsh let me add an lol at the end that's the koozie he uses on a daily basis yeah I mean whatever graphic stuff is is one day it's just so funny how like like to me if somebody gives me that I'll use the koozie but like people are people are buying that people are putting their money out there like that's the answer i want right he has one other one i can't remember what it says i'll have to do a little research and get back to you on that i do what are you looking at i tried to search like some of those graphic teas that i feel like people
Starting point is 00:42:57 like i may be wrong but i doubt it i do i have had the thought of like, it is, it is so easy to like set up like, like this website that we're, we've done all this e-commerce thing. Yeah. Like I've had the thought of like, just get as generic as possible or as stupid as possible and see if we hit a, hit a niche somewhere. My level of sarcasm is based on your level of stupidity. Don't you feel like those things were like really common when we were in high school and like growing up yeah i think yeah 2000s yep and then we kind of combated it with the christian like you know parody kind of stuff yeah at bread crumb and fish uh-huh yeah so good you got any more you good they're all pretty inappropriate i do love this stuff though yeah the one i just looked at was like, what are you looking at over there?
Starting point is 00:43:46 Yeah, a lot of, oh. Done adulting for the day. Done adulting for the day. Gosh, all right. If you're out there and you have one of these t-shirts that we're making fun of, no judgment. You're probably a really kind person. Like we said, please tag us in your Instagram story
Starting point is 00:44:03 and we will repost them. Wearing it, yeah. Yeah, that'd be fun. We would like to honor you we will repost them wearing it yeah that'd be fun we will like to honor you with a repost hashtag mean shirts on nice people mean shirts nice mean shirts nice ghosties um cool speaking of that little like potentially people being upset at us we got we got some people upset at us last week a little bit they said a lot of people are upset that we called someone 46 older than us. Are they older than us? We use them.
Starting point is 00:44:26 Yeah. Yeah. I haven't, I haven't listened back to the tape, but yeah, it was, he's an older guy. He's an older guy. There was an ER at the end. He's an older guy. Scott says, yes, he's 46. How old are you?
Starting point is 00:44:37 31. 31, 46. Hattie would know that is older. 46 greater than five. Yeah. 31. Yeah. You're not old if you're 46. Okay. Let's than five. She's five. Yeah. 31. Yeah. You're not old if you're 46.
Starting point is 00:44:46 Okay, let's do quick math real quick. How old are you? 31. Is 28 older or younger? Less than or equal to, no, no, just less than. Okay, 44, older or younger? Then 31, older. 26.
Starting point is 00:44:58 Younger. 44. Older. Again, 39. Barely older. 38. Still older. 37.
Starting point is 00:45:04 Older. Older. 32. Older. Older. 34. Older. 31. again 39 barely older 38 still older 37 older older 32 older older 34 older 31 older oh yeah that one was tricky um a lot of people were upset about that it got its own facebook post a lot of comments like yeah what the hell I'm not old he's older than us yeah factually fact he's older he's an older guy I forgot what the other thing was but there were two things last week people were upset about what if someone that was 50 said he's an older guy and they're like oh is he 46 that wouldn't make sense right because that's younger right I'm just I'm trying to make sure I understand yeah yeah no i think you get the logic okay okay yeah sorry about that guys i don't i shouldn't be sorry but i'm
Starting point is 00:45:48 midwest so i am sorry yeah um something i i really don't want to apologize about but let's let's talk about it as a group here uh catherine the other day she goes brad you have a problem and it was it was in the context of she was singing we We were helping out in the nursery at church. She was singing a song to these kids. And I do have a propensity, if you will. I'm excited for this. I'm not saying it's a problem, but I have a propensity.
Starting point is 00:46:16 In my head, I'm always enhancing the song, but I have a propensity to take a song and make it, I'll beatbox to it, the song is or or or or if if i'm not beatboxing i'll go hey you know something like that i don't think i would like to spend time with someone like this okay give me give me a kid's song scott wait actually no you give me a kid's song scott's gonna say this is the light of mine i'm gonna let it shine. This little light of mine. I'm gonna let it shine. I can't even. Catherine gets so mad. She'll just stop singing. She'll be like,
Starting point is 00:46:56 I don't even know why I do this. That kind of fired me up, I will say. Right? Usually it's like, I said this little loud on my, can you hear me? I'm in the band. Shine it up. You know, like, and I'll usually let it like, let it go once by itself.
Starting point is 00:47:12 And then you add on eventually. Yeah. Give me another one. So like second verse, like, gibbity gibbity gibbity. Remix. Yeah, yeah, kinda. Give me another one.
Starting point is 00:47:20 Row, row, row your boat. You go once. Oh, the stream. Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily, row, row your boat. Let me let you go once. Oh, the stream. Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily, life is but a dream. Row, row, row your boat. Gently down the stream. Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey. Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey.
Starting point is 00:47:41 Scott, who is so not on camera, is just getting after us back there. The idiocracy of what I was saying. I couldn't even finish the song. All right, give me Twinkle Twinkle. Oh, it sounds like- Twinkle, twinkle little star. Come on now.
Starting point is 00:47:57 How I wonder what you are. Up above the world so high. Come on now. Like a diamond in the sky. One time. Twinkle, twinkle, little freaking star. Little freaking star. Idiot star.
Starting point is 00:48:20 Oh, man. That's our niche. Forget t-shirt niche. Children's songs with a little bit of hip hop to it. Twinkle twinkle little fricking star. Yeah. So Catherine is singing to the nursery children and you are beatboxing accompanying her? I'm not getting that into it, but yeah.
Starting point is 00:48:36 So she'll be like, Jesus loves me. And she'll get to the end of it. You know, they are weak, but he is. And she'll go, yes, Jesus loves. It's time for a breakdown. Hey, yes, Jesus. You know he do. You know he do.
Starting point is 00:48:56 Yes, Jesus. And then she'll sing it again. Jesus. Jesus. Jesus. Jesus. Jesus. Jesus.
Starting point is 00:49:00 Jesus. Jesus. Jesus. Jesus. Jesus. Jesus. Jesus. Jesus.
Starting point is 00:49:00 Jesus. Jesus. Jesus. Jesus. Jesus. Jesus. Jesus. Jesus.
Starting point is 00:49:01 Jesus. Jesus. Jesus. Jesus. Jesus. Jesus. Jesus. Jesus.
Starting point is 00:49:01 Jesus. Jesus. Jesus. Jesus. Jesus. Jesus. Jesus. Jesus.
Starting point is 00:49:02 Jesus. Jesus. Jesus. Jesus. Jesus. Jesus. Jesus. Jesus.
Starting point is 00:49:03 Jesus. Jesus. Jesus. Jesus. Jesus. Jesus. Jesus. Jesus.
Starting point is 00:49:04 Jesus. Jesus. Jesus. Jesus. Jesus. Jesus. Jesus. Jesus. Jesus. Jesus. Jesus. kind of like you going like DJ Diesel on the crowd. Dude, I can't. It is a little bit of like I can't. And I tried to explain to her like, listen,
Starting point is 00:49:11 beatboxing is literally just trying to emulate percussion with your mouth. Yeah, yeah. The lack of drums. Because she goes, it's not in the real song. And I'm like, if there were drums. First of all, there's probably a thousand versions of Jesus Loves Me on Spotifyify there's some that have drums the hebrew version tell me that one doesn't have drums you're telling me no the hasidic jew you know um anyway i don't know i like this idea something i'd like to venture into more we talk about this more off the podcast is like doing less
Starting point is 00:49:40 like one-liner type videos are doing more like traditional sketches like key and peel type sketching and like i think that's a funny sketch where it's like i'm in a daycare and just reading normally yeah you're this guy who just wants the spotlight so much and i can't even really you know it like builds it builds it's kind of an act one act two act three yeah yeah like you're kind of like low-key annoyed but you're not really doing much about it you're like okay whatever i'll just keep singing here yeah and then like yeah i'm over there in the corner just like it'd be funny how it builds whether it's like stays in the daycare or you're like in my car later that day or like you have a full drum set or like we have you know whatever yeah more videos like that fun in my mind it's like yeah they're a little harder but it's a fun
Starting point is 00:50:22 payoff that's a shareable video so you guys think that it's not a problem that i do this i i i don't know i i think you go back and forth in the context of the podcast right now it's pretty fun but if i was trying to read the kids or sing the kids maybe or just anytime you ever sing anything yeah like maybe we don't need this hey you're making jesus fun for the kids it's it's it's nothing wrong with that if there's a break in the song you got to throw something in there I do like filling the silence with something. Yeah one time. I will say somebody scream Well, yeah, one of my go-to's is like the like cheap subwoofer, you know on a 1995 Celica or something where it's a One of your best gene Schwartz performances all time was the video where it was like the guy who, what do we call it? When I was like, I didn't care.
Starting point is 00:51:08 I was like, oh, we can leave whenever. We can listen to whatever. Whatever? We can listen to anything? Yeah. Yeah, you said like we can listen to Hitler's Third Reich, remixed to dubstep. That performance was one of the best things I've ever seen. Sprechensy, sprechensy.
Starting point is 00:51:23 And I think that was one take. Like, I don't think we've like tried that a bunch of times. I didn't know it was coming. We were close, we were close. Let's do it again. It's like, I gotta just improvise that very quickly. Oh, that was great. I forgot about that.
Starting point is 00:51:35 Sprinkency, yeah, whatever. Oh man. Anyway, that's great. Scott, how about you? Yeah, go ahead, Blake. What's up, dude? You went and competed. You did pickleball, big tournament, 5-0, pro you saw mcguff yeah what happened had a really fun weekend went down to
Starting point is 00:51:50 uh dallas for another pickleball tournament texas dallas texas uh results wise didn't go great lost a couple close ones so it was a it was a quick tournament for the boys did you did you analyze it the whole time after i just know you i know you're like i mean that that that point i don't know what i was doing on that point well and i i recorded it on my gopro too oh so you literally like i watched it back and i was texting my partner i was like man dude that point at six seven i was like that just killed me killed uncle moe yeah did you ever serve the ball out all day no i didn't oh yes i hit one into the net and it was at a crucial point i really should not have done that it was in our losers bracket game and it's one game to 15 and it was 13 13 we just gotten our serve back and i
Starting point is 00:52:38 just whapped one into the tape you know what you guys take it you wamped take it. You wamped or wapped? I wamped one. I turned to my partner and I go, that was untimely. That serve was untimely! That is so funny. At the 5-0 level, are people still just like, get your serve in or they put some heat on at this point?
Starting point is 00:53:03 The guys we played were not doing anything special with their serves oh that's nice yeah our first round we played the team there's 23 teams we were seated 21st out of the nice even bracket 23 teams yeah that's easy but uh i ended up playing the guys that won it our first match tough draw yeah tough draw we were with them the whole way and just like i said a couple of momentum swinging points didn't go our way so was it like was it like a true seating like they thought you were the 21st best team so based on our rankings that means you would pay like what the third best team i don't i think they were seated like their bracket didn't really make sense because it's a 23 yeah person bracket yeah i think because we were like the team that they
Starting point is 00:53:43 played had a buy okay they played next how to buy so they were like the 12 seed or something gotcha um but yeah we were right with them and it was it was kind of validating that like i know we could have beaten them and then they went and won the whole tournament so i was like that anyways okay keep checking the film i uh one of the funny stories from the weekend is it's not quite an iconologe moment but it is is several it's it's a saga of our hotel room okay so i had a doormat yeah yeah so i'm booking the trip a couple months ago and um i got this discount code for you know a hotel to use and and you could use them on like a certain chain and i'm going traveling for a pickleball tournament i don't want to spend a lot
Starting point is 00:54:23 of money i also don't want to stay in a dump but i'm like trying to find some place middle ground that's cheap for me and my buddy to stay two nights and call it good so i found this quality in in sweets okay it had anytime it's got sweets in there it can't be that bad you would think had 3.7 stars 3.7 which is adequate wait is that i's out of Dallas 3.7 stars in Dallas is like a 4.2 in Kansas City is it a 3 like point 7 star hotel or like the room no no no no use on Google earth I don't think there's such thing as a 3.7 like I thought maybe they're on their way JD power associates gave it 3.7 almost a four-star hotel yeah yeah a few more sweets so pictures are good reviews are
Starting point is 00:55:03 fine and so we we pull up to our hotel after driving through an absolute monsoon. I don't know if you guys were here on Friday. You were worried about the tour. It was going to be like, yeah, yeah, that we I remember we talked about that. So the first like six hours of the drive were great. And then the last two was was bonkers. It was driving through a monsoon on rampage. Yeah. wamping um so you know we get to our hotel and also another thing on the map this thing is like right i mean half a mile away from lake hubbard lake ray hubbard which is a really pretty lake on like the east side of dallas sure so like this has got to be okay any type of body of water on the east side you know scott's gonna love it
Starting point is 00:55:40 yeah good point on lake ray hubbard um so we pull up and first first red flag is it's i guess it's technically a motel where the doors face outside pretty big red flag for your difference yeah so you didn't notice that on the 3.7 reviews they didn't show that they just showed like the lobby in the rooms and i was like okay this looks fine so we do about as good of research as jake we get along well so that's the first red flag the second red flag we pull up there's like a beat-up chevy impala sitting right in front of our like hotel door basically basically so we walk in to check in and there's this kind of she's a little older lady okay 32 32 32 could have been six by the time this comes out
Starting point is 00:56:26 33 for me oh birthday's on sunday birthday was yesterday if you're listening on monday birthday was uh two days ago if you're listening on tuesday birthday was three days ago if you're listening to this on wednesday trike.com just giving money away oh gosh that's so walk into the lobby there's this lady behind the desk and first like first glance at this place i'm like i need to make friends with this lady because she's gonna come in handy there's there's gonna be issues on this trip so i get in there and i'm already like kind of like sweet talking her a little bit give me some examples of you sweet talking this lady i just like walked in and you know she's like she's like i need your driver's license and id and she looks like missouri or she goes mississippi and i said nope missouri close though you know just kind of making like the slide dog and so she like sits up
Starting point is 00:57:17 from her chair and she's like oh man this weather makes my back flare up and i was like oh really what's going on you know like and she's like oh i don't know I got a brace on it and I was like well you should see a chiropractor you know those they'll help you out with that she's like I don't know if I trust those guys she's like there was one time one came in here and I told him about my problems and he adjusted me right on that table right imagine that yeah and I was like like Phyllis in the office yeah i was like interesting um but anyways so she's like do you ever do anything in room 207 by chance yeah okay you stayed out of there okay good yeah so i found out her name was barbara and so my babs yeah i called her babs yeah i said okay thanks babs babs at the back yeahs. So we go to our room and open up the door
Starting point is 00:58:07 and it, it smelt like 100 cigarettes had just been put out in that room. Wow. I mean, Mr. Beast challenge. Yeah. I didn't know. I didn't know smoking hotel rooms were still a thing. They are alive and well. Motel rooms. I think there's no hotel rooms. hotel yeah so we get in there and and i'm in there for like 20 minutes and i turned my butt i was like do you i mean should we get a new hotel room there's no way yeah and both of us were like wow i'm getting headaches right now so i called them and i was like hey uh do you have any non-smoking rooms and she's like well your reservation came in as a smoking room i was like that's interesting i don't remember that but anyway she's like let me see what i can do okay and i'm like yes my sweet talking is already paying sweet babs so she gets us into a new room which we go into and we find out the ac is broken the wall unit
Starting point is 00:58:59 does not work and like normally in whatever november that's not a big deal but it was unseasonably warm it was warm enough yeah yeah this weekend so so now we're weighing the options do we want to go into cigarette land or do we want to stay in a musty moist 75 degree room yeah so anyways we go out for a little bit we come back and i'm like hey i walk up to the desk i go babs i don't want to be a problem child and then she like cuts me off. She goes, but you're about to be. I was like, yes, I am. The wall unit is not working in our room.
Starting point is 00:59:32 So she walks down with me into our room and she like does everything that I just did on the unit. She like turns it on. She's like, OK, it's set to cool now. I'm like, OK, can you wait till I just I just did all of these things. So anyways, it doesn't start working. Later that night, I go in to plug in my phone charger, put the plug in, and it literally just falls out. There is nothing.
Starting point is 00:59:55 Got a loose goose. Yeah, we have some of those at our house. Loosey-goosey outlet. And so I had the thought, I was like, maybe that's going on with the wall unit. I go over to the wall unit. It wasn't plugged in all the way. Okay, a little encyclopedia brown action. What if it action running. Was it running? No, it wasn't running at all
Starting point is 01:00:10 So I had to plug it in then it started running. So we're good it worked. It worked. Oh great. It was great party boy, but the last thing was Aaron Chai was down there one of our friends and he was like, yeah, we're hanging out the Hilton, you know We're staying at the Hilton right on the lake like oh you got ac yeah i was like that one of the hiltons has ac i was like can we come sleep on your floor i was like we might die here uh but we walk in there and just the funniest thing was like the contrast of walking into that hotel totally just absolute immaculate gorgeous lobby like full bar we hung out with them at the bar no one getting their back adjusted on a table yeah i was like i just cannot emphasize enough how different
Starting point is 01:00:52 our hotel experiences are did you end up did you end up still sleeping at the whatever quality in yeah we stayed both nights we tried to spend as little time as possible there yeah could have been the difference yeah lost a couple close games this weekend stayed at hilton i don't know maybe if we say direct correlation yeah probably at least a holiday express yeah yeah but it was it was uh it was pretty funny um just yeah i was i i think tj my buddy that traveled with me he will never let me book a hotel room ever again that's okay yeah it was but babs she came in clutch she tried she was trying hard yeah yeah i think when when you're in any place that has uh the doors on the outside they're not they're not gonna have the greatest window units either no or electrical
Starting point is 01:01:35 outlets apparently so that thing was loud too it sounded like a jet engine no like a propeller basically and it was like an uneven sound it wasn't like straight white oh yeah yeah he's literally feel like he's like lying there like he's an mri yeah try not to move that's funny one uh another funny story from this weekend though though. So we had a couple of friends from Kansas City that were playing women's pro doubles down there. So you get a little bit of special treatment at a pro tournament when you're playing in the pro draw. So they, long story short, they basically just told all the security guys there that we were their coaches. And so we got to go sit in the coach's tent with them during their match and stuff. And basically we took advantage of that to then say we could be there the rest of the day. Oh, okay.
Starting point is 01:02:28 So TJ and I hung out. They had a DJ booth and a player's area and stuff. Oh. I tried to make a face out. That was a flat tire. It sounds like a fart when you're sitting on the toilet. Whoopsie daisy. There it was. So we're sitting behind there there there's all sorts of behind what the dj
Starting point is 01:02:50 there's all sorts of pros walking around and there's these girls there that are like promotional girls so they will have like the pros sign these paddles that they throw out in the crowd or whatever sounds dangerous yeah so uh they have one paddle coming around it's you know it's been signed by a bunch of people there's a pro next to me that's signing it and i was like hey i have a nice signature and so she doesn't she doesn't let me sign that one but she comes back around for round two and one of the girls we know from kansas city he was playing pro they had her sign it and then she points to me and she goes hey he said he has a nice signature and so this girl kind of like looks up from her paddle looks at me and is like you guys have seen
Starting point is 01:03:28 her eyes she's like i have no clue who you are like i don't know if you're a pro i don't know if you're literally just a joe schmo yeah so anyways i'm just like yeah hand me that paddle and so she hands me one paddle john hancock right on the top scott peck hands me a second paddle scott peck right on the top and out they go into the crowd. So somebody out there is like hanging up in their office, a pickleball paddle thinking it's like this really great memorabilia from Scott Peck. Scott Peck's signature on the top left.
Starting point is 01:03:57 I love the idea of back in the day, obviously Scott and I grew up together and at the end of the year, you always sign each other's yearbooks. Oh yeah. And I feel like Scott and other people too but scott specifically would always put his number like his class remember how you like yeah like you always had to put jake triplet and then you were a t so you're probably number 17. did you do that in your class oh it's a vague memory of like being what number alphabetically i was yeah i was always 14 through 16. yeah so through 16. so he'd be like brad you were one of of my best friends. Have a great, H8, you know, Hags.
Starting point is 01:04:26 You know, Scott Peck, number 13. That's why I love the idea of him like signing these things with just a printed signature, Scott Peck, number 13. I should have wrote Hags. Yeah. That's amazing. So they just like, they just give out like nice paddles for people to use? No, they were like they it was put
Starting point is 01:04:45 on by baird wealth management so it's like a generic paddle that just said baird uh and so all the pros would just sign them and then they'd give them away in the crowd gotcha yeah so i got the sign i i just i don't know why i was laughing i mean i thought it was the funniest thing i was just laughing while i was doing it that's amazing because this girl had no clue who i was um i have a few quick ones quick yeah anymore sorry so um quick boys and other than that i saw mark cuban in real life like 10 feet away from me that is pretty crazy you sent us a picture of that i was like yes that was probably the that's probably the most famous person i think i've ever been in close besides brad ellis oh wait i thought you were raising your hand like the point to yourself oh yeah pickleball follow-up from last week we talked about the vibe uh-huh yeah company that art that just started already got uh bought out and they already have a merger
Starting point is 01:05:34 so vibe no longer exists so yeah it was a fun vibe while it lasted yeah like today literally uh like major league pickleball which is a different company whatever they like announced like we were merging with vibe pickleball so they were after about a week wait because it wasn't wasn't it like there's two leagues now oh yeah it was about to be clash of the titans now it's remember the titans uh-huh yeah wow good for them they're just like all they said was like hey we're gonna start another league and they're like no please don't we'll buy you out okay yeah no problem okay we'll take your money take your vibe yeah yeah my vibe and don't take my vibe that's not your vibe come on just keep his vibe that's cuban's vibe it really is good for
Starting point is 01:06:11 the sport though so i'm happy about it but yeah it was pretty neat like literally i mark cuban was 10 feet away from me that's wearing a dallas mavericks track suit what am i very on brand oh okay they need to get some like microphone or some kind of technology in the pickleball itself or like around the court because anytime i watch highlights a it's boring already to watch like pickleball they need but the the best part about pickleball is that noise of the ball hitting the paddle i think and so they need to have some kind of enhanced audio for that and i you know i will say angles or something yeah i will say it's it's i had a similar experience first time i went to a pro golf tournament like the sound of the ball off the clubs of pros is
Starting point is 01:06:49 way different than, you know, your average guy and same thing for pickleball. When you watch pros play, it's just, it just sounds different. And it's, yeah, it's, it's pretty sick. Got to feel that. Okay. And also shotgun the beer after winning. Yeah. Fan. but still um okay uh i got a few quick ones just real quick uh just like super fast like not very long um so short yeah yeah good because my attention span is yeah yeah that exact thing you're like moving here right now it happened to us yesterday on the golf course me peter and isaac we started at like 2 p.m which we knew the sun was going to set towards the end of it the marshal comes out at the turn we're halfway done and he's like you boys gonna keep playing and we're like yeah we we paid for 18th so we were just playing on playing as much as we can he's like
Starting point is 01:07:33 okay well sun's setting soon so i'd say you could get three or four holes in maybe and we're like okay yeah i mean we're down to just have us do as much as we can he's like i mean you could maybe get through four we just need the carts in by 5 10 okay we're like yeah yeah that's great that's awesome he's like no later than that one and you know what once 5 10 hits that's your last hole you just got to come in after that hole like yeah that's great that's awesome we could have gone through two holes by now yeah we could have played an extra hole during it was like he was doing like a funny thing i'm like i want to speed them up by going slow it was brutal uh okay uh one of the things i got recognized this week we went to a harvest festival at my friend todd's church and a guy came up to me his name toad um hey toad um patrick uh yeah kind of yeah uh this guy i'm pretty sure is the same guy if you
Starting point is 01:08:27 remember gen z came up to you at the golf show uh and took a picture and walked away from you you remember that story hey jake what's up can i get a quick picture took a picture and left as soon as i walked in this guy did the same thing to me he's like i saw jake at a golf show one time oh actually the same kid no yes yes yes 100 the same kid no it wasn't like it wasn't like the same actions it was like he said he saw you at a golf maybe he said a golf event okay i'm assuming it's the same guy because i haven't heard you say that many golf things where you get recognized but like yeah i'm like and he took a picture left was really nice i think he's only a gene shorts guy um i couldn't really tell but because of that it felt like ever it felt
Starting point is 01:09:05 like i was a celebrity the rest of the night because i think he went back to all the rest of the youth group kids and was like that guy's like a comedian you know and so everywhere we walked it felt like people kind of like looked at me and they looked back their friends and said something and looked back like it was just kind of this weird because it's it's a it's a pretty small you know there's probably 100 people at this church like it wasn't a big church gathering or anything but um that reminded me of um two days ago on the golf course in oklahoma guy comes up to me he's like hey i don't want to bother you um but i love your videos um i just got to say that that character you played the woke mom is so funny so i got a little brunch waiter situation going on apparently because that is not that that's supposed to be a female character that's telling i'm just gonna say it there's something there
Starting point is 01:09:51 yeah i'm just like being i'm being a guy you're just saying different anyway yeah he's like i love that that woke mom character man that's so funny i was like thank you man thank you i appreciate how we have fun uh you got recognized at pickleball a couple weeks ago too hey you're the tiktok guy you remember that guy right as we walked in overland park ragged club over the park ragged club oh right oh yeah that guy handled that very strangely yeah like i didn't know you're the tiktok guy he's like you're the tiktok guy and i was like maybe you tell me scott's like, back of the back. Hey! Hey!
Starting point is 01:10:31 Classy, bougie, nasty. A drop down in the splits. A few more things real quick. I'll obviously talk about this way more next week, but I'm going hunting this week for the first time. I'm excited for those stories. Not a big outdoorsman. Talk about a fish out of water.
Starting point is 01:10:51 Friend of the podcast, listener of the podcast, we'll call him a ghostie, because he's a fan of our podcast. He listens to the podcast. He's, I'm sorry, I'll- I got a few quick things. His name's Scott Bass, shout out to Scott. Like literally just- Scott Bass. uh yeah listen here scott bass
Starting point is 01:11:08 scott bass over there um anyway uh yeah he's a he's a hunter he goes out to south dakota to pheasant hunt every year with like this big group of guys and he invited me and i was like yeah i'm not gonna say no to that that sounds awesome so uh but it's supposed to be i think lowe's low uh for both days was seven degrees high was 21. so should be that temperature is freezing it's chilly yeah so um going to cabela's tomorrow to, uh, to layer up. What do the accommodations look like? Are you camping? Are you glamping? No, no, no. It's like, I think it's like, I don't know how nice it is, but it's definitely a lodge.
Starting point is 01:11:56 It's a nice motel quality. Like it's like a 3.6 at least. So you're fine. Uh, yeah. Uh, so that'll be fun. A lot more stories from that, but shout out to Scott for hooking me up it's got bass not Scott um and then speaking of cabela's I went to cabela's with my uh kids on Saturday it was really fun if you've never been to cabela's take your kids there got it it's really cool all these dead animals yeah well that's the funny thing I told Hattie the night before I was like do you want to go to this thing you know because we always do that or day kind of stuff on saturday so uh it's like all these animals they're like real animals they're not alive anymore but they're like
Starting point is 01:12:31 shorter pictures and then the next day you know we wake up and and hattie goes beau we're gonna go see a bunch of dead animals at a store and the way she was like so excited about this really funny that's like that's what it is Let's put a dead animal on you. And then the very last thing here is it's, it's going to be way more of a visual thing, but you know, I think I've told you before because of our principal that Scott and I had, who did, I love you always to us. We do that all the time in our, in our family. Like anytime we leave or, you know, I'm always like,
Starting point is 01:13:01 I love you always. Hattie the other day put out her, know so a lot of you always is like this how do you the other day just put out her pinky and her thumb just looked at us and it like she put up her middle or put up her index finger but it looked like she was flipping us off so she just goes it was like the most like i don't know like just i don't know whatever so it was a funny time. You got flipped off by your daughter. Kinda. Okay. Got it. S'mores it up?
Starting point is 01:13:30 Yes. S'mores it up. Yes. Last week, it was a tight race. Brad beat me by five, I think it was 44% to 39%. 30, it was a 6% race now, I'm just saying. Is it six? Okay, last I checked it was 5% And TJ had 5% of the vote.
Starting point is 01:13:45 I'm trying to do the math. How much percent was left for me? So did Scott win? Yeah, let's see. 44 plus 39. I love that TJ so quickly just came up with... And he texted me later on, like, Denzel looks pretty bald in this picture to me.
Starting point is 01:14:03 I asked Rachel in the car on the way to Oklahoma, and she came up with some pretty quick ones too. Things I didn't even think of when i thought of it for an hour yeah she was like mr clean i was like oh my gosh the ghosties had some good ones too charlie brown was the one that i really liked oh yeah someone said dave ramsey that they are upset you didn't choose that oh i didn't see that one yeah that's a great answer um so okay so yeah i won this week uh we're kind of revolving who's picking the topics so scott's picking the topic this week you want to tell them what it is yeah so topic this week is best feelings in sports best feelings while playing while playing a sport yes yes we're not not like you can experience while playing us not like your favorite team winning the super bowl which ours
Starting point is 01:14:40 has or your favorite team winning the world series which ours has or the national championship college basketball team winning the college basketball challenges which ours has, or your favorite team winning the World Series, which ours has. Or your favorite college basketball team winning the college basketball championship, which ours has. Yeah. So I'm gonna go with, I'm gonna go with the order is gonna be Scott, Jake, Brad. Ooh, first pick, thanks, Brad.
Starting point is 01:14:57 Yeah, same as last week, I think. Whatever you think will help your chances. What's that from? It does sound familiar, but I don't know it's for something i'll figure that out later okay all right my first um my first pick so best feelings that you can experience while playing a sport uh three two ah yeah and they win the game uh my first pick is a buzzer beater yeah i had that down yeah that's uh it doesn't really happen often i mean i i can only think really of one buzzer beater that i've ever
Starting point is 01:15:32 had in my life and it was just a couple basketball seasons ago and it was only at halftime but oh yeah we called you the john paxton of the you know it was like when last dance was going on yeah this guy was like he's just money he like you give him the ball you know he plants there and yeah me and sammy both went nuts when i mean guys sammy shout out i think sam sam has video of it too which is kind of fun i was like that's cool buzzer readers that's a great feeling just sammy launching a ball up in the air yeah launching a ball up in the air buzzer goes off oh yeah yeah tate did that when you weren't there for that game i guess no you told me about it though yeah it was awesome win the game uh mine is gonna be the bus ride home after a win okay i like that vibes i like that a lot that
Starting point is 01:16:19 i mean there's just nothing like it especially when you think of the opposite after a loss is brutal your coach doesn't let you talk which is a dumb rule did you uh are you talking are you thinking football are you thinking like football football was definitely one where you didn't talk in the way back and football season you know it's always dark outside when you're going home yeah yeah like it's always dark well any sport you're playing at night well baseball not always right we never played during the day we had school during the day day. Well, but summer, it's like, whatever. It doesn't matter.
Starting point is 01:16:47 Oh, Stratford base school baseball is in the spring. Dang. I did not play. Okay. Um, that's good. I like that. Did you, did your football team do that? You can't take off your helmets either.
Starting point is 01:16:56 Hazing. What? Your helmet's on? A hundred percent. There's no seatbelts to keep your helmet on. A hundred percent. Shoulder pads too. If we lost no talking helmets on.
Starting point is 01:17:04 Helmets on. Helmets on. Helmets on. That's ridiculous. You guys just walked off the field straight onto the bus. Fire it up, Donnie. We're going home. 100%, dude. The things we put up with in high school,
Starting point is 01:17:15 this goes for a lot of things. We were like, okay, coach said. Yeah, because you were terrified of running. You were terrified of them getting mad at you. so that feeling of bringing it in after practice is so good you shut up it is it's a great feeling up there with winning a game and being on the bus afterwards the bus ride home after when nothing like it it's just the music is going everyone's in such a good mood maybe the coach might get in on whatever the action is oh yeah you know like whether it's dancing or whether it's singing or whether it's like hey coach we're all telling stories you know whatever oh yeah so it's a very euphoric feeling good answer thanks okay
Starting point is 01:17:49 um man i wanted to go third because i have so many that i i think they're all fine but i don't know if one's like great um that's why i was telling rachel i was like i'm just excited for this conversation i don't know if i'm gonna win or not but there's just so many great feelings i'm just excited to talk about them all. I mean, there's so many answers similar to this one, but I'm just gonna say, we're talking baseball here, you know, fastball down the middle, you rip it and you hit it and it's going deep.
Starting point is 01:18:15 And then all of a sudden you realize that thing went over the fence for a home run. Oh, the way you worded that, I thought it was gonna be caught. No, no, no, no. And then you realize, they didn't want to, somebody robs it. Tagging, yeah. these are the best feelings
Starting point is 01:18:27 you know i i told uh one of my favorite uh baseball players that if he had a home run that he could marry my mom and then ken griffey jr caught it at the last minute and i still let him marry my mom a little big league um great movie no i think just yeah just tagging a baseball is such a great feeling anyway and then if it ever goes over the fence, which I think I only had one in my life, you know, yeah, it's amazing. I was telling Rachel, I was like golf and baseball both have this thing
Starting point is 01:18:52 where you could connect on, it happens more in baseball, but if you really connect on a ball, you get out in front of it and you hit it right in the sweet spot. It feels like you almost didn't hit it at all. Yes. That feeling.
Starting point is 01:19:01 Exactly. And I'm going to go ahead and piggyback on that not with golf although that is on my list um hey coming up pushing p no i i'm tempted to do golf but i'm not going to because that is a a wonderful feeling yeah like i've and i've only experienced it a handful of times and every single time i'm like okay i want to go play more golf now um but the answer is sorry is this your second pick now my second pick okay my second pick is uh a hit in football where it feels like you didn't hit that hit a pillow shocking it's amazing it almost doesn't make sense it doesn't like i was running full speed
Starting point is 01:19:36 he was running full speed and i felt nothing you deck this guy and you win and he is the one completely on the ground you are on top of him you are literally physically owning this guy looking down at him comfortable down there yeah they get real comfortable uh it's just it's a once in a lifetime feeling it is shocking it is a testament to the shoulder pads experience scott scott might have been on the receiving end a few times in the backyard charlie lead them uh One of our good friends. Yeah, I'm afraid to say the only times this probably happened to me was like
Starting point is 01:20:07 when I was tackling like a sophomore and I was a senior in practice. Like I don't know if this ever happened at a game. Okay. Cause I was just diving at people's knees. Yeah. I was like, I don't care about laying a big hit. I need to, I'm the safety.
Starting point is 01:20:17 I gotta get them down. Yeah. That's smart. That's what you should be doing. Totally. I was mad at other kids. Anti-Tyron Matthew. Yes.
Starting point is 01:20:23 God has such a vendetta against Tyron Matthew. I remember getting mad at Derek Eubanks. And I was like, dude, you got to stop tackling up high. We are small. Yes. Physics. But in practice, though, lay out those freshmen and sophomores. That felt good.
Starting point is 01:20:36 Love it. Good pick. Thank you. My next pick is going to be, we're still in high school. I assume all these are going to be for the most part. Younger. Younger guy. and your crush decided to come to maybe she's from another school I'm sorry. Just kidding. Anyway.
Starting point is 01:21:12 Yeah. Is that accurate? No, I have no idea. The stereotype of Nixa is just funny. Those Nixa girls. And she comes to the game, no matter what sport it is and uh you just light it up and you know she's watching she saw the whole thing okay and she saw what you did for this community she saw how everyone reacted to how you performed you're like i'm i'm a million bucks
Starting point is 01:21:38 okay i'm talking a million million bucks you cash at me that a million bucks yeah good yeah that is that is one of a kind oh yeah it's yeah you always are like whoa was she watching what she was did she see i mean even now i mean i think rachel came to a game one time and i was like i hope she sees when i do good 100 percent i'll every once in a while catherine when she comes i'll look up after i make a shot and i'm like she was she was talking. He's talking to Rachel. He's like a doormat. Yeah. Good answer. Good answer. All right.
Starting point is 01:22:13 My number two pick is going to go on the baseball field. Diamond baseball, slow pitch, softball field. Walk up to the plate and the pitcher turns around and tells everybody, hey, scoot back. Get back. Bag up. Bag get back back up back up back up terry i oh yeah and you you get up there you you clank on the plate a few times you you you measure it out you go for the outside plate inside plate a couple pumps in and you're just you are you are a king doesn't even doesn't really even matter what you do in the at bat it's walking up while the pitcher tells everybody to scoot back even just like flying out as long as you don't lose the like scoot back thing you just got to keep doing enough to where they keep like hey he still got it in him any given moment yep you better have heels on the
Starting point is 01:22:58 warning track for this matter were you a uh walk up walk up to the plate with the uh hand on the top of the barrel of the bat? I love that move. I think right in the middle. Okay, you're a middle guy? Yeah. That's a very Matt Carpenter move. I know he was your guy.
Starting point is 01:23:11 Matt Carpenter. That you would go top of the barrel. Oh yeah, top of the barrel. That's like people who drink out of a bottle like this. No way, dude. That's what King Grippy did, I think. I walked up, oh yeah. Top of the barrel. Back up, back up. He's like i walked up oh yeah back up back up it's like bang up you better
Starting point is 01:23:28 believe back up oh great answer girl from nixa so you better believe that's right all right oh man good pick okay my third pick is something that happens far less to me than i would like it to uh making a putt in golf that is true that i think i didn't realize that much until i started playing golf but it's like oh yeah putts don't really go in no you don't i mean the hole is so small so small but the sound of the ball going in the cup and just disappearing justin put it in yeah do generic putt sound okay okay buddies yeah just the sound and the visual of just a ball dropping and you got your buddy yeah what a putt yeah it doesn't ever happen to me but it's fun like the one putt per 18 holes that i make is really it's hard to make a putt outside of like
Starting point is 01:24:19 three feet it doesn't happen that often even three feet that's like all right let's move it down a little bit so give me right he's an older guy maybe yeah 18 inches okay yeah good answer good answer okay jake i'm gonna say um now i'm getting into the uh the weeds near the weeds a little bit like these are all fun but i don't know what's better than the other um okay i'll say this one goes especially well with baseball sorry basketball and football you did something wrong something that they should have called you on and then the kind of play goes by and they didn't call it okay i really like that feeling like you know you hacked a guy yeah and you got the block or you got to steal and they don't call it or in football maybe you felt that way like i held the daylights out of that guy and they did not call it just knowing how to cheat
Starting point is 01:25:02 yeah i've done that i mean especially playing defensive football yeah it's like i was holding on to that receiver i definitely got there first you know whatever it may be where it's like you you know you did something wrong they don't call it you feel great love it kind of do the michael jordan shrug okay uh my next one i can pick a sport if you want me to on this but i think just generically baseball or football one of the most electrifying things electrifying feelings is when you make a diving catch. You just dive for the ball. I didn't think of that one. That's good though. I mean, no matter if you're first base going into the foul territory and you dive your, you know, left field, right field was never center field. Um, you dive for a ball, you know, you're playing football, you die for one, you slide
Starting point is 01:25:44 through the grass. Wonderful feeling. Yeah, I definitely love that. I played a lot of middle infield growing up, so I had plenty of diving opportunities. And it was kind of one of those things like, if I dove and hadn't my glove, I didn't even really care if I got the runner out.
Starting point is 01:25:56 Because everyone was like, whoa! Yeah, what a stop! He dove and got the ball, and it's like, okay, I didn't have the arm strength to really get him out, but still, Dover got it. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's fun, I didn't think about that thanks i mean and that one goes back i can't wait to the days for the days that bow wants to just throw me a diver yes like dad
Starting point is 01:26:13 can we just do diving catches on the couch of course dude yeah my dad and i would do that for hours i remember back at scott's house we would always well this is a different thing i don't want to i don't want to have a swimming pool. I'm going to ride divers that way. Okay. Yeah, that's also true. Okay, and then my last pick. I'm just going to go with the most simple satisfaction in basketball that there is, a swished three-pointer.
Starting point is 01:26:42 Okay. You know what Dave Ellis would say? My dad, yeah, growing up. Go ahead. Swish, swish, sound of sweet sweet sound of swish he would do it he'd always like oh i love that sweet sweet son of a swish he'd say it faster and faster uh-huh yeah he'd be so sometimes he wouldn't even enunciate oh sweet yeah um i'm gonna write that down sweet Sweet, sweet sound of a swish. Sweet, sweet sound of a swish. It does make a nice womp. Like, whap. Yeah. Since playing
Starting point is 01:27:10 basketball at the gym by myself running suicides, I have a rule that I have to make two three-pointers in a row at the end before I leave every single time. Every high school basketball coach would love to hear that. You always end on a miss. You can't end on a miss. If it's a swish it's next level like
Starting point is 01:27:25 all right i'm good yeah yeah it's a good one justin i would like i would also like to request a swish sound right now uh swish swish sound of a swish hey thank you one thing that i'll hey i was trying to do my sweet sweet sound of a swish swish swish sound of a swish go ahead one thing i'll tag on to that is when like the hoop has a good net and so when you swish it the net kind of like comes back up through the oh you get a little uh the circle because you like that yeah so i hate the nets that are real like stiff and strong that it doesn't like the net doesn't come up you know what i mean yeah that doesn't come up when you swish it it just kind of like stays put get a little recoil what about uh like metal like chain nets no no sweet sweet son
Starting point is 01:28:06 of a metal chain that swish no okay even worse is when you play on hoop with no net that's just exact that improves the the sweet sweet side of a swish even more that that that quickly turns us like a pure shot into the worst feeling because it just you don't hear it it's like did i are we sure yeah that's true anyway okay that's my last one my last pick another basketball and football one primarily especially football you're in the huddle quarterback is about to he's saying the play we're gonna run and he says like all right trey wright gun uh 80 bubble you're like oh that plays for me oh really when like you get a play drawn up for you it happened in basketball as well.
Starting point is 01:28:46 Yeah. But it happened more in football where they're like, we're trying to get Jake in some open space here. And I knew like, there's only one option on this play. I'm getting the ball. It's showtime. Heck yeah. I love that.
Starting point is 01:28:56 That's fun. Like the anticipation of like, all right, I'm about to like have the ball here. I honestly don't know if I've ever had that feeling. Maybe in basketball, like back where like elementary school. Hungry pig, right? For you? We had, we practiced one time and I was like the full back yeah and i got the ball sometimes but never did in the game because i think as a receiver you every single
Starting point is 01:29:12 time you run around be like i don't know if i'm getting this or not yeah but when they call a play it's like okay it's a bubble screen you just kind of do this flare whatever i'm getting the ball love it let's go love it let's ride 42 blast with a backside georgia verse we didn't run that no all right my last pick i feel like i can't i can't talk about sports feelings without talking about pickleball and that's where scott lost this is where we lose the vote this is where we lose the vote no hopefully a lot of our listeners have at least tried playing pickleball but i think one of the one of the best feelings in pickleball is when somebody speeds one up at you and you just got right back hands
Starting point is 01:29:52 and you're just and even even if they get the next one back, you have a little hands about where it's like, what? What? What? What? What? What? What? What? What? What? What? What? And then you finally. But then you finally just have the faster hands of the two and you just finish that thing right at their feet or even body bag body bag them what does that mean when you hit them oh just get the ball hits them so pickleball hands battle i call it fast hands bottle you want me to call it pickleball call it yeah call it fast hands fast pickleball opposite of pickleball nile horn okay um slow
Starting point is 01:30:22 hands okay uh just real quick i'll some some, some, some resume. Like, I'm just going to tell it like everybody's picks real quick. So I'll go with Scott and then I'll just tell everyone else. So Scott said buzzer beater. When the people in baseball tell you to tell everyone else to back up when you're walking up, making a putt and fast hands, battle and pickleball. Jake said bus rides home after a win. Wham. When a girl is impressed by your game. Is that good? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:30:48 Wham. The ref doesn't call the foul penalty on you. Wham. And a play is drawn up specifically for you. Wham. Wham. Wham. Wham.
Starting point is 01:30:58 Sound like a horse. Thank you. Yeah. Wham. Wham. Brad, myself, this guy, co- goes to the podcast i told you i was goofy tonight brad said hitting a home run uh getting like hitting somebody else hard in football getting a big hit delivering delivering the big hit in football making a diving catch and the swiss is on my switch
Starting point is 01:31:27 okay i'm disappointed i just saw one of the things on my list i was like that was probably should have made the top four i don't know why it is coming out of the tunnel was an electric feeling we know you had tunnels uh for basketball oh we came out of the tunnel to music and it was i mean everyone was going nuts the whole town was there dude the cherry pie 5k the whole town's gonna be there um there's nothing like there's nothing there's nothing like high school basketball it's one of the most wonderful sports i think yeah because of because of the gym because of because they they always know the size of the fan base and they make the gym size accordingly oh and when you could pack it yeah it doesn't it doesn't matter if that gym is packed with 200 people or it's packed with 800 people it's just loud either way it just feels
Starting point is 01:32:09 right like it always has the right size for the school so wonderful that was an honorable mission um i had getting a pancake block that's a great okay yeah yeah um spiking the ball and pickleball i think is just an electric feeling when we were just serving brad spikes right before f12 oh yeah we started serving for you yeah yeah yeah that was great gosh that was a fun day that was that was so awesome and everyone was watching this um yeah i did more forget f12 let's do like a we should do like a pickleball exhibition yeah we just kind of like do different dumb watch us play yeah yeah um i put it having a great drive a great drive shot in uh drive ball drive ball driveway drive drive shaft um that's what those are uh i had getting a scoop scooping it up at first base and baseball getting a little short hop and i i it's one of my
Starting point is 01:33:02 favorite feelings because i was terrible at it i played first base and i every time every time it was a short hop yeah guys we need it in the chest it's not gonna work guys i don't bend over and i don't scoop yeah i don't like the ground um this one's a little bit out of left field but perfect forehand on your frisbee throw like an ultimate frisbee game that's random like just just having it you know sailing 50 yards in the air um getting a hole in one in putt putt is electric for me can't speak to the real game um threading a needle on the pass like whether it's football or basketball or just sewing or sewing competitive yeah i was gonna say sport the sport of sewing um stealing a home run i think just just robin rob i've never actually like truly done that and like but i've done in wiffle ball and stuff.
Starting point is 01:33:46 Oh yeah. Uh, and that was, that was what I actually thought of while we were doing this, because I remember Scott's dad would like literally just throw us balls up against this fence. And like, that was like the game sometimes it was like a drill, um, and his little six foot fence. We still probably couldn't reach the top of it. Uh, and then the last one I said was, uh, turning a double
Starting point is 01:34:04 play without using your glove so you catch it in this yeah remember those times like someone yeah yeah and just oh i just think that was so cool our high school baseball coach wasn't a big fan of that because it's not the right move but it's really cool looking so those are good my more of my honorable mentions yeah coming out of the tunnel uh this next one's like a scenario it's like oh two count maybe maybe one two count you're up there and the pitcher kind of fools you with a pitch and you don't swing and it's like pretty close to the zone and then they call a ball oh i probably should have got rung up for that one right that's a pretty nice feeling when you like got let off the hook and then you get a hit after that yeah and then like yeah you
Starting point is 01:34:41 make a pay something happens um the feeling of like catching fire in basketball yeah it's like you've made a basket two shots in a row the third shot is check yeah heat check and that goes in you're like oh yeah yeah tonight's my night where's sarah from nixa where's sarah from um any kind of successful trick play i think it's really fun something you implemented in practice that week whether it's a you know a backside screen alley-oop or a you know reverse throw anything in a sport. We had church plays baseball. Those are so fun. What give me one. So we called it our state championship play. We weren't gonna break it out. Because you don't want to show other coaches that you have
Starting point is 01:35:15 this. And we actually got to the state championship that year and we didn't use it and I was so upset at our coach. But what it is, is everyone on your entire team has to be on everyone on the bench has to know what's happening where it's like there's it would be late in the game we are in the field there are maybe two outs and they have a runner on second maybe the go-ahead run this is a huge moment in the game yeah the pitcher is gonna like do a pickoff move a quick pickoff move to second base and what's gonna happen is he's not actually gonna throw the ball. He's gonna fake the motion.
Starting point is 01:35:47 The shortstop and second baseman are purposely not really gonna be covering, have a miscommunication, and they both dive. They dive after a non-existent ball. When this happens, the bench all goes from seated up to the fence and starts yelling like, "'Oh my gosh, Rod, go get it, go get it.'" Whatever.
Starting point is 01:36:01 It sounds like a play from a little big group. Yeah, it really does, yeah. Oh, really? Yeah, they do this kind of thing. And then like the center fielder is running and uh like right field everyone it's just chaos chaos like sprinting to the ball yeah and then um hopefully the guy on second runs to third and then can't hear the coach saying no no no they have the ball you know whatever loud and then you just pick them off that's awesome all the way to the championship
Starting point is 01:36:20 he didn't even run that play yeah did you like could you have there was a time where you could have run i don't remember it's been too long yeah yeah maybe but we had a few things like that i don't know that one was even in a movie i haven't seen that movie but yeah dude such a good movie yeah our coach yeah had a lot of good stuff yeah oh what a movie justin that's wonderful yeah that's great last one just a great slide in baseball feet first or head first yeah like oh i didn't get any scrapies i just like popped right up oh yeah smooth i don't know scrapies no scrapies scott okay honorable mensch for me uh kind of already talked about this but just pureing a golf shot where you hit it and just barely feel it on the club yeah or like yeah
Starting point is 01:37:03 when you're with a group and you just hit an abs or oh i guess this would be more specific but like if the course is slow and the group behind you comes up and catches up to you on the t-box and you're on the t-box and you just bomb a drive or somebody lets you play through and you bomb it and i'm the man yeah really just bombing a shot in front of people yeah yeah sure uh a perfect spiral so when you throw a specifically college football because it's got a white yeah not as satisfying with an nfl college football you just see that beautiful white circle it's nice yeah feel it off the fingers um i also had robbing someone of a hit baseball um trying something new and it works like perfectly the first time you try it like
Starting point is 01:37:42 if you're doing a golf you're like hey adjust your stance a little bit like hey let me just try to swing slower and then you just jack a ball and you're like oh wow that worked genius um and then the last one i had is like when you're playing basketball with a new group of guys or really any sport with a new group of guys that don't know you and you just have like the game of your life like basketball like pick up ball yeah and then you get out there and you hit like three threes and then all of a sudden they start steph curry yeah yeah shooter he's a shooter yeah or you hit like three threes and then all of a sudden they start Steph Curry-ing. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Shooter, shooter, he's a shooter.
Starting point is 01:38:07 Yeah, or like I've subbed for a softball team before and like gone six for six across two games or something. You're like, yo man, we ever need a sub again. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Hey, you free every Thursday? Yeah, just pretty much showing out in front of a new crowd of people. Those are all fun, all good.
Starting point is 01:38:26 It's good, man. Fun. Let's do our reviews of new crowd. Yes. Those are all fun. All good. It's good man fun Let's do our reviews of the week. We got so many good ones a lot of good stuff on Facebook this week, too They're like basically reviews a lot of good YouTube just everywhere. You guys are great guys are encouraging. Absolutely. Can I go first? Okay, you gotta take my SBU girl Is she from SBU? She from Nick's go ahead. Go ahead. Go ahead Elizabeth a A. Coleman. Dang it. No, no, no. Go Bearcats. Just, you can do it. I'll do it. Just know that I really, this is my favorite review this week. Okay.
Starting point is 01:38:56 My twin sister Renee told me I needed to check out our fellow alums podcast, and it's definitely not bad. I keep up with their current episodes, but in between the current ones, I go back and listen to the old ones. Brian and Jacob helped me break incorrect thought patterns I had and showed me better ways to live. Maybe it's because I live in the Bible Belt, but I've often felt like I am less than because I am single and childless.
Starting point is 01:39:11 Jake is now headed into matrimony, but episode after episode, you see how a married man and a single man did life together. Brad made me realize that the married people in my life truly want me around, and Jake showed me it's okay to live the season of life fully
Starting point is 01:39:22 and to show up in the married friend's lives. Jake and Brad have given me the courage to live the life God has given me and I have shown up to social gatherings that I normally wouldn't have because I didn't belong in quotes. I finally had the courage to join a church community even though technically I quote don't fit in. Thank you Jake and Brad. I'm excited to watch Jake transition to married life. He was a great single role model. I'm sure he'll be a great engaged then married role model. Love this podcast and so grateful for it. Thank you, Elizabeth Coleman. Go Bearcats. Lick them. Lick them, Bearcats. That's what we did at home games. You did the horse thing first? Well, on the mic. Yeah. Bearcat country. Let's ride.
Starting point is 01:40:09 This bearcat is horsey. Oh man. Fun, fun guys. I love that. I don't know. I think that's so cool to not that I don't even know if I really consciously think about, and maybe you don't either Jake, like the idea of us being single versus married or like different life stages so therefore there would be any reason for us not to hang out still i don't know like just like we were friends we've always been friends i've always been married since we've been friends and it's never been like a second thought i think yeah and probably a little bit is or a lot of that is probably uh credit to catherine as well not being like i don't know to whatever like she's very welcoming to you
Starting point is 01:40:50 too of like yeah jake can come over that's all three let's three of us hang out and you can come over dinner or whatever so um fun times um i guess my stupid like five star reviews no i was kidding uh my second best review no no no these we really did get some really great ones a lot of good ones this week uh mine is from liz grace 315 uh monday's rock five star review uh jake and brad it's so cool to think of how the lord has used such a small funny and random stories on a podcast to encourage me and many others thankful is an understatement as many as many okay hey you're just gonna read the this review a little bit slower yeah yeah so i'm struggling because i i can't read it very well and so i'm gonna i'm gonna read it but i'm gonna start again um so i'm gonna go ahead and start from where i was not doing it right um before so
Starting point is 01:41:35 as others have said you truly have been a source of joy in some really dark moments of my life i.e losing my mom navigating through college alone uh the last shared on this podcast reminded me of the last my mom and i used to have as well as the sweet times i still have with their side of the family humor is how i cope with most things and this talk show always brings the best brad i've enjoyed hearing all the sweet memories you're making with your kids jake it's been a long time coming but i'm so happy for you and rachel just goes to show that god really can use anything to bring people together thank god for you both and all the ghosties on your freaking feet. Wow. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:42:08 That's another just really heartfelt. I mean, yeah, the idea of losing a parent is probably the biggest fear in my life. And so, and I think as I get older, I'm a little bit less scared of that or more accepting of it, but I can't imagine going through that. And so just hearing that we've been able to help, you know, influence positively this, this experience in a small way is just really humbling and cool. And yeah, I don't know. It just pumps me up. It's just, it's just like,
Starting point is 01:42:34 I love doing this anyway, but whenever you hear stuff like that, just like win, win, let's keep going. Let's do this. Let's yeah. Make this stuff fun for everybody. So thanks for laughing with us. Liz grace three one five. Cool. Can I share my YouTube comments? this stuff fun for everybody so thanks for laughing with us liz grace 315. cool can i share my youtube comments oh okay this is gonna be really self-serving weekly segment for me this is just gonna read any any comments with scott love so this comes from jenny and angela uh scott needs to always be in the room with y'all he adds so much to the podcast i always feel like he says what i would say if i were there very
Starting point is 01:43:05 relatable oh yeah okay would you have read that comment angela probably because you wrote it do you uh is that the only like uh social media platform you've been perusing these days baby what a great segue brad yeah thank you. Just real quick. Shameless plug here. Ellis custom creations dot com. Ellis custom creations on Instagram. No, Scotty P's back on the gram. Back on the gram, baby. So Sam, Sam and I have made a Peck family pickleball page.
Starting point is 01:43:39 So Sam is also very into pickleball. She's been playing a ton recently. Loves it. And so she kind of had the thought. She's like, we should just make a little pickleball page a little family pickleball page we can share pictures of us pictures of palmer videos playing pickleball pickleball tips all sorts of fun stuff funny videos tutorials all that sort of fun things and so ghosties do your thing is that a script is he reading family so as I was saying, yeah. That's what she said.
Starting point is 01:44:06 Ghosty. You can, yeah, you can get 10% off when you use code ghosties, do your thing at peckfamily. Yeah. It's peckfamilypiggleball. If you want to follow along for some fun stuff, we're going to, we're going to be using it to post all about our just life. I will say, uh, before say before we started the podcast, you said, yeah, Sam won't let me post on the actual feed,
Starting point is 01:44:30 but she did give you permission to post on the stories. Your story permission. So the stories are gonna be zoppity, baby. Yeah, stories are gonna be electric. The feed is gonna be aesthetic. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, so Sam has a big vision for the feed, but yeah, it's exciting we're
Starting point is 01:44:46 going to try to use that platform to get some sponsorships with pickleball to help cover like tournament fees and travel expenses and we're going to be playing a lot of tournaments so quality in quality yeah i gotta cover uh 75 a night at the quality in and sweets but yeah if you guys can go follow us and support us along that journey that would be awesome fun great thank you bradley yes brad you want to end this episode with the jingle yes i do and again we probably go dubstep children song oh yeah okay scott google google for me you got you got the thinkpad on there uh google oh you got one oh you got one yeah oh, you got one?
Starting point is 01:45:25 Yeah. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Never mind, Scott. I'm ready to go. I'm ready. Okay. Oh, okay. Keep coming in.
Starting point is 01:45:32 Five, six, seven, eight. I'm a little teapot, short and stout. Here is my handle. Here is my spout. Are you a part of this this or is this just me?
