Starting point is 00:00:00 Welcome everyone to episode 190. This is the no notes episode. No notes! No notes. I was trying to fix something with the software and I heard Brad tell Scott, which Scott's here and Scott's got a brand new mic. New mic, who dis? And I heard Brad say, Scott, all right, I'm going to try to write some stuff down. And I said, let's just have a no notes episode. So we're free, free noting. Free ranging.
Starting point is 00:00:22 Yep. Free range sowed. Yep. Sorry about that. Bullets are out of the bullpen. Yep. Free range sewed. Yep. Sorry about that. Bulls are out of the bullpen. Bullocks are out of the barracks. Home of the Buffalo Rome. That's great.
Starting point is 00:00:35 I don't know if Scott understood what we were doing. You said bulls, so I thought of buffalo. We'll turn Scott down a little bit. Hey, turn me down in the headphones. I'm warming up. I'm of Buffalo. We'll turn Scott down a little bit. Hey, turn me down in the headphones. I'm warming up. I'm warming up. Scott's so pumped that he can be heard really well now. He's just like, tell me I'm in the headphones.
Starting point is 00:00:52 I'm making eye contact with my mic because it's directional. Last week, we tried something new, and it did not sound very good. And so we spent more money, and now it should be fine again. So hopefully we sound great hopefully scott's great no more think pad at least no more the think pad can still be used to google yep but not be used to record yes i i put my laptop completely down and so scott is my only way of finding things out now so anytime i have any questions i'm just gonna ask let's do a little practice run i can provide some misinformation here. Yeah. Practice run.
Starting point is 00:01:26 What do you need to know? I am curious how fast a squirrel can run. I'm seeing a squirrel run up and down this fence right now. Scott is typing 15,000 words. Why did he type so much? Top speed of a squirrel. Let me guess. 17 miles an hour. No, I think in a quick dart, no, 25.
Starting point is 00:01:47 Brad wins. He's 20 miles an hour for the eastern gray squirrel. Oh, eastern gray. Ask the fleet. Were you thinking of the western gray squirrel? I was thinking of western gray. I thought it would be something in the southern hemisphere at least. Fastest type of squirrel is the eastern gray, though,
Starting point is 00:02:04 so they don't get faster than an eastern gray okay i have my grades mixed up um anyway any gray yeah any gray any gray let's let the buffalo roam uh-oh oh i think this tight beat means that it's going down with some random thoughts and white me too midwest best friends eating fast food on repeat so come along let's have some fun and go Ooh, I think this tight beat means that it's going down with some random thoughts and white meat too. Midwest best friends eating fast food on repeat. So come along, let's have some fun and go ahead, get on your feet, because it's the Ghost Brothers Podcast. Everybody morning, we're taking round. Ghost Brothers Podcast.
Starting point is 00:02:42 Ghost Brothers Podcast. Okay, so no notes. What in the world do you want to talk about brad i'll tell you really quickly i i'm reminded last week when we recorded i my charger came out of the port no that the what's this called the block the. And last, I forgot my charger here, right? And are you looking at me funny? What? Sorry. Go ahead. You're like, what are you talking about?
Starting point is 00:03:15 Okay, so the cord that you plug your computer in came out of the brick that you plug into the wall. I brought the cord home with me with my computer. I did not bring back the brick. No bricks. Jake went to Iowa. I was not able to get my brick and jake was like hey there's no way to get in except for maybe one of the windows is open if you want to put hattie through the window oh yeah i thought that was a great idea i did too i was in there if i was desperate i would be very excited about this
Starting point is 00:03:40 like because i think it would be so fun because it just happened again where it just came out so i immediately brought this brick out so i'm like I'm not gonna forget this again um how fun would it be though if you like basically do like a mission impossible kind of thing with Hattie and you know in the state where they lay up the land you know yeah because she's because you knew exactly where the brick was right yes okay so you could guide her yeah and I yeah the stakes are low she can always come back I can always guide her back out you know you could draw her a map yes of what the what the house is going to look like. We could even FaceTime, you know, like.
Starting point is 00:04:08 Yeah. I like to think of her like Mission Impossible coming down from the roof at some point. Like dangling. Brad's like, do you have a spare key or like a window unlocked? Like, no, you can get into the attic though. And I did leave a small saw up there. A small saw and a rope that's just long enough for a five-year-old to rappel down i did install a laser security system though however
Starting point is 00:04:30 you have to dodge that yeah he's gonna have to do some yeah some acrobatics to get around those um so that's the first thing i want to talk about in my no notes podcast is just some way to circumnavigate the security of your house and just break through a window or send my five-year-old in there. I'll get some, some things in place so that you can leave stuff and it's easier to get stuff again. I know some trap doors. And how was your weekend not being in Des Moines? It was really good. Uh, Catherine multiple times. She's like, I'm just so glad you're home. I'm so glad you're here. Aren't you glad that you're not in Des Moines? And I was like, yeah, I, I have, obviously there were times where I was like, Oh, I miss this. I wish like watching you and you being like, Oh, it was awesome. I'm like, Oh man, I would have liked it to be awesome. But I think overall,
Starting point is 00:05:12 I was just trying to be very intentional with my time with doing all my woodworking stuff that I needed to do when you were gone and then doing as many family things as possible. So we got to get some good Christmas memories in. There was one Christmas memory that was supposed to be really fun. And it ended up, I mean, it still was fun, but like,
Starting point is 00:05:31 it was one of those times where we're like, Oh, it's going to be great. We're going to be no stress. We're going to go there early. And we went to the Deanna Rose lights, you know? Oh yeah. I've been there with my headlights on.
Starting point is 00:05:39 Yes, that's right. You couldn't, didn't know how to turn them off. They had a case of the bird flu this year. What? I think. Deanna Rose? Like the parking lot did no the farm oh i just know it is a christmas light display yeah
Starting point is 00:05:51 it's it's like a zoo it's a petting zoo it's a petting zoo farm how did they get the bird i mean it's it's very airborne hold on let me i'm gonna fact check myself check it out thank you um you're the only one that can so anyway but it was one of those times it was a classic, like, oh, it's going to be great. And then as we're driving there, Catherine, at one point she goes, do you just want to go home? Like, no, let's go. Like we can make it when we get, make it fun.
Starting point is 00:06:16 But yeah, it was, it was a great time. Not in Iowa. I didn't miss it. I know truly. I was like, I wish there were, there were times where I was like, oh yeah, I wish that would be fun. But like overall, I just can't imagine. I don't know. Just for the, for the time away that I was going to be, the time that I was going to
Starting point is 00:06:32 be away, I think that Catherine would have just been bummed. She would have had so much more to do by herself. And so I was like, I'm glad I'm here with you. So my dad was talking about that recently saying like the reason he quit golfing was because he had kids and he hated just that feeling of like, he'd go golf then he'd come back and, you know, hey, how would it go? And, you know, I'm like, I got Caitlin was crying the whole time. Right. He just couldn't do it anymore.
Starting point is 00:06:53 It's really hard. I have to just give up. Yeah. My hobbies. Basically, I don't want to be gone. I when I get home. What? Dad guilt.
Starting point is 00:07:00 Dad guilt. Yeah. Dilt. Mom guilt is like a big thing. I should not be here. I got a heavy dilt right now. Boy, am I dilton hard here. guilt dad guilt yeah guilt mom guilt is like a big thing i should not be here i got heavy guilt right now boy am i dilting hard here um during the chiefs game i had such hard guilt yeah man right scott here's the word hard and you just die laughing gosh
Starting point is 00:07:18 laughing at oh all the other jokes you guys are making. Buffalo Rome. Buffaloes. No, but like, so often when I come home, you know, it's 5, 530, and Kevin always calls that like the witching hour because the kids are just unraveling. She's trying to make dinner. And so often when I come home, I'm very tired from working all day. But I have to psych myself up in like two minutes. I'm like, okay, you're on your dad.
Starting point is 00:07:44 You need to be helpful. You need to be a helpful. You need to be a great husband. Cause yeah, like you do, you feel really bad whenever you're gone. And then they're like, yeah, it was a hard day. And it's like, I'm just really sorry. It was a hard day for me too, but like in a different way, you know?
Starting point is 00:07:55 And that was tough. There's a reason I think in 2019, the Webster's dictionary word of the year was dilt. Because it was so like, everyone was talking about it. Yeah. Merriam Webster said dilt was trending. Yeah. Dilt was trending, but no, I didn't explain it fully last week. But like, yeah, truly, I think I didn't, I want to be excellent in whatever I'm doing. Like what I said.
Starting point is 00:08:18 And I was like, I don't think I can put one more thing on the table. And I think I could probably have been, could still try to do standup comedy and try to be excellent at it. But I think the thing that naturally goes by the wayside, whenever you add more things to your plate are things like family and your responsibilities there. If you're not disciplined, because I think so easily it's like, well, I mean, there's no checklist with being a dad, you know, there's no like the word of the year wasn't deck list. It was dilt. It was dilt, you know, but there's no like, uh, whatever. Like it's not like, well, I didn't, I didn't
Starting point is 00:08:54 tuck my kids in enough this week. So therefore I'm a bad dad. But I mean, you have the dilt, but beyond that, you know, but it's like, Oh yeah, I still, whatever. So I could add one more thing, but I'm like, I know that the more things I add, the more I stretch thin my responsibilities to the husband and the father. And that's something that I want to prioritize more and more. So, um, I can't believe you just purposely took your drink and put it sideways like
Starting point is 00:09:13 that. I don't know why. It really stressed me out. It was on top of your laptop. Oh my gosh. Oh my gosh. That's stressing me out. Stop.
Starting point is 00:09:21 Brad likes to live on the edge. People were so concerned about my laptop, uh, in the last Gene Schwartz video. And here I am just hanging out. Wow. Right next to Atomic Hardverk. More to come from that leader. Oh, new sponsor alert.
Starting point is 00:09:38 Yeah. I feel like I had to apologize a lot on your... Didn't have to. I wanted to. Right. As soon as I would see ghosties in Iowa. Hey, sorry, Brad can't be here. Yeah. I mean,
Starting point is 00:09:46 genuinely, like that was, that was easily the hardest thing was like, I feel what's, what's, it's not dad guilt.
Starting point is 00:09:52 It's comedian guilt. Yeah. Kilt. Kilt with a C. I had, I had a lot of kilt, you know, very popular in Ireland
Starting point is 00:09:59 and Scotland. In Iowa. Ireland. Ireland. The, the Dowds especially. Oh my yeah go ahead shout out shout out shout out brie shout out rustin yeah they brie texted me i grew up with you grew up with me yeah i i would go as far as to say that i kind of gave rustin the advice to go after brie
Starting point is 00:10:20 and so their whole family is kind of based off of brad ellis and so i mean correct me if i'm wrong rustin but i think it's right um but yeah they texted i think she texted me like the day before like wednesday you know they were going on thursday or friday and she's like we just bought tickets to iowa can't wait to see you spontaneous trip and i was like oh yeah so but they still came and it was really fun it was really good to see them and chat with him but there were yeah so many ghosties who were like that brad was gonna be here and i was like yeah there were some people this was interesting they were like uh they came up to after show like hey we're big ghosties i was like oh hey what's up i was like bummer brad couldn't be here right and they were like oh who no that's right they go we didn't even know you were gonna be here i was like big ghosty i don't know the redact that yeah didn't know you were gonna be
Starting point is 00:11:11 like we didn't know you were gonna be here i was like well you knew the word ghosty so yeah this is not adding up this is like isaac's dog it's like house trained but doesn't have a name keeps throwing up and then pooping in the house something's off here but but iowa overall was awesome yeah i don't remember if i texted you or rachel maybe both but um you got to that first and pooping in the house. Something's off here. But Iowa overall was awesome. Yeah, I don't remember if I texted you or Rachel, maybe we were both, but yeah, to that first show. Yeah, it's just like the people that I update.
Starting point is 00:11:33 And I just said, that was the most fun I've had performing in a really long time, like since Kansas City. Yeah, you told me that. Yeah, it was just a blast. Sorry, Rachel. I don't know if he's revealing as much to you as he is to me.
Starting point is 00:11:41 Who knows? Yeah. It was just a blast. I mean, every every show we had six shows at the funny bone and we were gonna do seven and they said we don't have the staff for seven you have to go somewhere else so we go to this weird like bar music venue that one was not ideal unfortunately the doubts were at that one and i just kept on like i'm sorry they're not like this well i saw them like a couple days later and talked to them they're like we didn't know
Starting point is 00:12:00 any better we thought it was the funnest thing ever. Really? Yeah. That's awesome. Oh man. It was not that ideal, but the other six shows were all completely sold out. I mean, my parents came and didn't have tickets and there was not a spot for them to sit. Like if it's sold out at a comic club, it is sold out. They stood.
Starting point is 00:12:15 Yeah. They stood one show, took someone's seats, another show. Oh really? Shout out to the power move to the coop family. I mean the most supportive people in the world, probably. I mean mean right there up
Starting point is 00:12:26 with my parents but the rachel's parents came to uh i think three shows and it's i i kept apologizing i was like not that much can change showed it like one night after another i was like you come see me three months from now yeah it'll be a little different right but from night to night i can't mix it up that much like go do something else if you want and they just kept coming i love it rachel came to five shows amazing it's just so they're so supportive they're awesome that's a fiancee right there was this the first time she'd been like in the green room with you for a show or was she in the green room with you she was i mean no she's done that before i mean we were dating the entire last tour really we started dating in october and the tour started
Starting point is 00:13:03 in october holy cow you're right oh yeah i remember she like went to michigan or whatever that was up there okay but it was the first time i'd kind of been keeping a secret from rachel i have like a 10 minute bit that's about rachel and she doesn't know what it is right you got to hear that oh that was the ring buying story yeah yeah that was her first time hearing it oh that's how did she react uh it was pretty fun yeah it was pretty fun i love that story i got to learn some stuff and also um yeah i was just kind of i don't know how much i want to say she was just like you know my grandma's coming to tomorrow night show right i was like it's fine grandma's gonna be fine and
Starting point is 00:13:34 grandma did come to the show grandma came to the the late show the 10 o'clock show okay and i had like an hour drive home afterwards she's spunky ever yeah everyone came out yeah my parents made the i don't know what it is seven eight hour eight hour drive. That's awesome. Stratford to Des Moines. So it was awesome. Yeah. Well, okay. So you said it was one of the best shows, like whatever that Friday or Thursday is a Thursday night. Yeah. Um, what are like, give me like a report card of like, I mean, it sounds like an A plus and all these five different categories. What are some of the categories? Obviously I would think crowd work would be one of them. Yeah. I them yeah i feel like i really am starting to hone something a little bit here i mean there's still a long ways to go but i feel like i am almost every person who wants to talk to me
Starting point is 00:14:12 after a show wants to you know whatever just like can compliment me on my crowd work okay and i do feel like it's getting better and i hope it keeps getting better but yeah i'm just having some really really good moments almost every show now to where I feel pretty comfortable. And even finding things like, okay, this guy is giving me the dumbest answers I've ever heard of, but I can still like make that funny or even if it's like neutral, it's like, I don't even know what job you have. I can still make that funny, whatever. Right. Just really honing the crowd work. It's so fun. And just, I think a very active, just like active, but respectful audience. It can be two pillars there. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. Really fun, really eager to like active but respectful audience. There could be two pillars there.
Starting point is 00:14:45 Yeah, okay. Yeah. Really fun, really eager to laugh. But when it's time to be quiet, they can be quiet. Energy and then respect, we'll call that. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:14:54 Okay. So energy, A plus. Respect, A plus. A plus. Yeah. We'll go architecture, A plus. Oh, architecture. Very important.
Starting point is 00:15:06 Just the size of the room, the height of the ceilings and the size of the room. Like how jam-packed everyone is in there. Yeah. What would you call it? What would be the word? Not architecture. Ambience. Environment.
Starting point is 00:15:14 Environment. Vibe. Vibe, sure. Vibe pickleball. Vibe is like, yeah, the 2022 version of, yeah, environment. So vibe, A+. Okay. Technicals. Technicals. 2022 version of yeah environment so uh vibe a plus okay um tech technical technicals technicals technicals a plus okay just you know didn't have to worry about the mic worked the whole time the
Starting point is 00:15:32 monitors felt good everything good didn't have to worry about that is that really like that fluctuating of a thing not too much but a lot of these comedy clubs are using i will say we were laughing in the green room because we go in there and it's a tiny green room. It's smaller than this room in here. And they have, I think, what was probably like a 22-inch TV mounted to the wall. And all these like cords. It looks like you're in a third world country. Like all these, how are all these cords connected to one TV? Where do they go?
Starting point is 00:15:56 Yeah, I was going to say, how many cords do they need? Yeah, it was just one of those things. It was like. They got a few VCRs hooked up to it. It was crazy. It was like, this is wild that they don't. Like they clearly are putting no money back in the business that's pretty common i think these comedy clubs that are set in their ways that's how it's going to be sure i was joking with trey that he should start
Starting point is 00:16:11 putting in his writer it's like yeah i want them you know a few beers some water uh a fruit plate and then take 500 on my paycheck and just go get a freaking flat screen just go get a 45 inch tv because all these green rooms it's just like an old hotel yeah you know where it's like insignia oh i kind of forgot about that brand i saw some uh i i'm gonna kind of butcher the stat but like it was some kind of stat about like the um price of certain products over time and like how much cheaper things have gotten and tvs like by far are like the most affordable thing compared to what they used to be like like they're so much cheaper now and they're so much bigger now
Starting point is 00:16:49 compared to like you know i think phones and stuff like that like it was like a very interesting stat to see so they used to be so much bigger too like the big screen tvs back in the day used to be yeah if you try to carry one of those things by yourself you'll herniate yourself like yeah you needed a buddy at least one now you can get a 75 inch tv that is three inches wide yeah you're fitting that thing in your kia on the way home yeah 100 it's amazing caitlin's putting that you know curbside pickup she's just he's just sliding it on a handle you can literally carry those things with a handle now you're right um yeah so anyway everything was great comedy wise i was just so fired up and had so much fun with everyone.
Starting point is 00:17:26 And yeah, just loving getting to perform. And when I wasn't performing, it was, it was jam packed. I thought I was going to get way more work done this weekend. Right. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:17:35 With my family there, Rachel's family there. We just did stuff constantly. Some ghosts. He's met up with us, reserved some pickleball courts for us. Yeah. Rachel Seidel,
Starting point is 00:17:41 shout out her and her crew. So we played some pickleball with them um that was really fun and uh then i um ghosties and also sbu graduates of mine colin and jen they reached out and he was like hey my father-in-law has a golf simulator and a racing simulator it is like garage if you guys just need something to do i was like okay how fun so i just dragged rachel and my family to this other random guy's house i don't know yeah and we just played with his toys basically what was the racing simulator was it like an arcade game or no it was like a custom built like a gaming like pc basically three big monitors so you have this like peripheral version and like a gaming like a race
Starting point is 00:18:21 chair and like um like a big speaker underneath you actual racing pedals that sounds really it was a very legit setup um but it was also like just racing was it you know was it like too hard sometimes i feel like those racing things are like not fun because i'm so bad at them i think uh there wasn't too much of a learning curve like even my dad i think by the second race was okay with it so i did i did a a VR racing one time and it was like I would crash into the wall because I would you know Yeah, I couldn't control too fast. Yeah, so did your seat have a rumble pack? Yeah, that might have been like a switch. I could have flipped. I didn't feel that but the 4d Yeah, that would be cool. I actually got a targeted ad yesterday, which I don't know. They're not targeting the right person
Starting point is 00:19:03 It was like hey hey, gamers. Not me. Hey, World of Warcraft guy. What's up, Minecraft mania? But it did look pretty cool. So maybe they did target to the right person. It was like a gaming vest, which I'd never seen before. And it was like, what does that mean?
Starting point is 00:19:20 Feel the game like never before. When you play Call of Duty and you get shot. It feels like you got shot. You get pierced. Holy crap, everything's realistic. It's a body armor. I forgot. Don't look into the light.
Starting point is 00:19:36 Yeah, it was just like a vest. I forget now. I wasn't playing out of time on the podcast, even if I was. No notes. No notes. There were funny comments. It was like, will you fix the issue with like all this random stuff? And I was like, yes,
Starting point is 00:19:48 we have fixed that now. You know, like I don't know what was happening in like version one. Will you fix the issue that causes seizures? Yeah. Yeah. AFib anybody that has AFib do not buy this. All of a sudden they're just like, yeah. Seizing up on the floor. But so I don't know what type of game is this here i assume like yeah it's any kind of like first person shooter games well how is it like connect with the game that's what i'm curious about you know like how does it know
Starting point is 00:20:12 of call of duty versus nba 2k or something like that it probably doesn't know exactly where to like you know vibe you but i assume maybe it plugs into your controller and like the game tells the controller when to vibrate or like left or right vibrate and so maybe it just does that on your body okay i don't know who knows maybe a ps5 like knows uh-huh that this is how there's probably some sort of software in the game that can control stuff like that they probably i would say the makers of the vest probably partnered with yeah people of the game and download hey this is our idea here's your program put it into this and so yeah interesting let's get let's get uh gamey you guys want to become gamers gamers if there's
Starting point is 00:20:51 another pandemic you have my word i will become a gamer you did get into the games for uh pandemic didn't you i did in addition to that i still remember i bought really with you guys in mind i bought three copies of halo 2 during the pandemic are we gonna we've not done that i don't think i knew that you actually bought them. I knew that we had the idea. I actually bought them. Can we do that soon? Bachelor Party.
Starting point is 00:21:10 Do you have Xbox? Oh, yeah. No, we will have to buy that too. I have an Xbox One. There's one. Does that work? I don't know if that game's compatible with mine or not. Okay. We can figure it out.
Starting point is 00:21:20 That's one of those like, you know, we're getting a little old because I like, I will play the Daylights out of Halo 2, but I will not touch halo 3 because i'm just like no i don't i don't that that change i don't really understand how that how that one works very well i'm not very good at it but i will play halo 2 forever or halo 1 dual smgz's dude no that's weak that's weak come at me all day with dual smgs do Do you think he knows about get up OSME time, though? Scott is such a dork. He still is to this day. He had this thing called get up OSME.
Starting point is 00:21:53 Get up OSME. It was a pistol in one hand and an SMG in the other. Oh, that was a good weapon combo. Popping you in the head with a pistol and then just peppering the body with the SMG. That is not the way to do it. No, you hold the plasma pistol down. Oh, no, not the plasma pistol. No, not that one. That's a great one. That is not the way to do it. No, you hold the plasma pistol down. Oh no, not the plasma pistol. No, not that one.
Starting point is 00:22:07 That's a great one. The plasma and the battle rifle? Yeah. Or plasma and just the pistol sometimes. Really? Plasma and pistol with a headshot. Boom. Yeah, that was awesome.
Starting point is 00:22:15 Because the plasma pistol... Battle rifle is just one shot kill anywhere. And the plasma pistol was heat seeking. No. Kind of. Yes, it was. It wasn't very accurate. Yeah, no, you had to... You just saw the aim. Guys, it was it wasn't very accurate yeah no you had to you saw the aim guys it was
Starting point is 00:22:27 a little bit once you once you locked in it was heat seeking a little bit if they changed a lot of direction that wasn't gonna hit them you know what i love about ghost runners is that like last week people were like i don't really know anything about sports so they were just talking about athletes we will flip the script on you we'll talk about games we'll be gamers yeah so anybody out there that didn't like the sports stuff, you're welcome. There was a lot of stuff that I feel like people have not liked recently. I feel like people have said they don't like the way you film the videos. There have been people who said, which is the exact way that I film the videos.
Starting point is 00:23:00 Someone said that you decorating your thing atcclain's was the most cringe thing she's ever heard oh yeah so extreme um katherine did tell me she's like don't don't tell that part of the podcast where you like uh you know defame their stuff is that is that the right word defame deface um i was like i'm gonna tell it i don't i don't care i think people should appreciate the authenticity this is us, guys. We appreciate your candor. Yeah. I like the idea of telling that to a criminal.
Starting point is 00:23:32 Like, hey, honestly, though, I think people just appreciate. You get up around the stand. You are being you, OJ, okay? Hey, you do yourself. You get up on that stand and just tell them how it is. People are going to like that. People have a lot of thoughts about us sharing our thoughts on jean shorts. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:23:49 Which is great. I think that's just what we were going through that day. And it's going better now. Totally. We bounced back. I think a lot of thanks to Ghost Runners being active in the comments. And thank you guys for doing that our our video the restaurants video fast food restaurants was awesome it did really well with people and yeah the middle class christmas did
Starting point is 00:24:10 even better middle class middle class christmas did even better yeah you're right yeah so we're back baby we're just fine it's really interesting you never left i yeah that's true good job scott um i have looked at the analytics and stuff more than easily more than before, before I was like, Oh Jake, Jake and trail worry about that stuff. And now I'm so much more like into that, into the weeds,
Starting point is 00:24:30 which is very interesting. We could talk your ear off about that, but people might not want to hear too much about it, but it's very interesting. We've seen just really quick. We've seen like almost all the channels that are similar to ours have had this like dip recently. And so it's not just us.
Starting point is 00:24:44 It's like this Jake, Jake theorized that it was about the algorithm of YouTube, which makes sense potentially. So we're doing just fine. We're encouraged. We're coming out with some new fun long form is what we're calling it. You know, just not what we call it,
Starting point is 00:24:57 what people call it. Kind of ghost runners ask bantering longer videos already come out. Two of them already come out by the time I was seeing this. Yeah, I guess so. That's exciting. Cause I'm really excited to see. So if you guys haven't seen them yet,
Starting point is 00:25:10 go check them out. Um, we did one with a cookie taste test, which was really fun. Um, I, yeah, I thought that one was really great.
Starting point is 00:25:16 And then that's along, along with actually filming the video, the editors, I'm just going to give editor shout outs, I think every week, cause they're doing such a good job, but the editors are doing an awesome job for the cookie taste test. And then five ways that your dad's watched sports or something like that. So, uh, yeah, really fun.
Starting point is 00:25:33 Yeah. Yeah. No, I think people were like, so disappointed to hear us bummed last week, but I want people to know, like, I hope we can just be honest on the podcast. We're optimistic 99% of the time. If we're bummed, let us feel bummed. Sure. You know, if you are in a position where you just like negotiated and spent all this money to acquire a company,
Starting point is 00:25:51 I don't care what it is in the very first week, that company does worse than it's ever done. I think you're allowed to be like a little bump, you know, like that statement, like, has it done worse than is the worst week ever was the first week we had it. In our podcast, I think we're allowed to share like some disappointment.
Starting point is 00:26:09 It's like Elon Musk buying Twitter, basically. Yeah. It's like, hey, long term, the ship should right itself. But right now it is. No. And I don't even think we were that negative. Were we? Probably not.
Starting point is 00:26:21 I don't know. I just I think I saw a lot of comments like anyone else bothered by Jake and Brad brad oh i just thought i i wasn't were you bothered by it i wasn't bothered by i'm saying that's what they said oh i know but i'm just oh i'm bothered by their botheredness are you i don't know i thought i thought usually people would say oh i was sad for them right i didn't like that they were like that but they're gonna be good so i feel like they were just very encouraging yeah it was so nice so many people were So many people were like, how can we help? Yeah. How can we help?
Starting point is 00:26:46 How can we, should we, should we give them advice? It's like tangible advice. I don't know. I mean, just you guys are just keep listening to our podcast. Yeah, that's,
Starting point is 00:26:54 that's we really though. We love the ghost runners and the ghosties that you guys are so loyal to everything. I think YouTube, I will say just logistically, we make more money from YouTube than any other platform. So if you're going to choose to watch it somewhere, watch it on YouTube, engage as you will, you know, commenting, liking, subscribing, all those things are always great.
Starting point is 00:27:15 Anything beyond that? No, I don't think so. Okay. Just share it with your friends. Sure. Yeah, sure. Scott, I want to hear about um your time with tyson mcguffin yeah uh so got to participate two weeks no it was last week um in an event called pickleball with the stars put on by chicken and pickle oh yeah chicken and pickle has they have several pros that they sponsor but they had six of them there uh at this event and the way it was structured is you get an hour and a half and basically you play 10 to 15 minutes with each pro and then you rotate so there's like a group of three of you and the the pros the fourth so i was playing with a couple of my buddies that i play with a bunch so it was the fun part about it is these pros are used to playing like pretty amateur pickleballers
Starting point is 00:28:00 that are like hey we want to come play with the pros but sure yeah it's you know it's not real pickleball so it's fun to play like with me and a couple buddies these pros you can kind of see like a little smile or a little relief come on their face like okay we can play a little pickleball i mean they're obviously still leaps and bounds better than us so you guys can hang with them yes yeah and so it's fun because then they're like oh i can hit the ball hard at you or you know i can do all these things um and so yeah we got to play with six different pros one of them being Tyson McGuffin and
Starting point is 00:28:29 yeah bottom line. Tell Brad some of the other pros I'm sure Brad's gonna be impressed. Dylan Frazier No. Lauren Stratman Stratman. Georgia Johnson. Georgia Ayanna Grichkina Oh Ayanna Grichkina Ben Newell No. The new a yana gritschke na oh yeah nagashkina
Starting point is 00:28:50 Ben Newell no the new the noon noodle new kid on the block your kids on the block knows Ben What about Aspen Aspen Kern was he there? Was he not Ben John's I don't even know if he plays about law Which is hilarious because he like there's still a you don't know he plays anymore i don't think he does he has his own pickleball paddle i know that's what's hilarious is like he has his own like signature paddle just just a quick backstory to anybody who doesn't know aspen current isn't a big pickleball he was in my honorable mentions last week i'll say that this guy and i'm not i'm not trying to throw too much shade at myself but he looks a lot like me
Starting point is 00:29:22 and yet franklin pickleball is like yeah professional pickleball we're so excited to like sponsor him make this paddle for him i mean it was like a joke this guy like trying to look like he was like this cool athlete he always wore like a basketball jersey on top of it that's right yeah and he just quit that was like his shtick i don't think he quit i think he just like the the skill level i was gonna say i think he was probably a pro before pickleball got pocketed. And now he just can't keep up. Is it that quickly?
Starting point is 00:29:48 Like rising in competitiveness? Three or four years ago is not. There's been John's still doing well though. Yeah. He's by far the most dominant player. I wonder how long it's going to take till he's not. Need a little bit more money, probably more like prize pools.
Starting point is 00:30:03 And then like, like the tennis players are gonna and then the tennis players will come over there's already a bunch they're having a big event this weekend with several big tennis names like uh well you guys might not know but andre sam query uh oh queer queer jack jack sock and uh john isner are all playing. Jack Sock, actually, I've heard of. Yeah, because he's from here. Oh, is he? Oh, local sock. Yeah, that's right.
Starting point is 00:30:31 Ankle sock drawer. Anyways. Okay, so you're playing with Janakuskinski. Janakuskinski. Yeah. But no, we got to spend time with MacGuffin. Unbelievably nice. Like, very personable very engaging very upbeat energetic like it was it was just so fun he was like and the funniest part is we shake hands he
Starting point is 00:30:52 goes what's your name you know tell him i'm scott and like he just he like grabs my arm and then grabs my chest and then grabs my arm again like borderline feeling me up a little, like feeling, and I was like, this is so random. Did he say anything while he was doing this? No, he just kind of was like, like just grabbing. And I was like, okay. I'm trying to imagine that. So one hand he's shaking, other hand he's grabbing? Yeah, basically.
Starting point is 00:31:19 Like a right arm shake, left arm kind of feeling out the scenery. Was he kind of like breathing out while he did it? He didn't really do it in a weird way. It was kind of like, I don't know. It's hard to explain. He was just like, sturdy, man. Okay. Anyways, so we got to play with him.
Starting point is 00:31:40 He was giving us pointers as we were playing, which was really fun and really helpful. He drilled me with a pickleball like he was giving us pointers as we were playing which was really fun and really helpful uh he drilled me with a pickleball that was one play he like he hit a drop and i hit a ball to his right thinking it was like a good shot and then all of a sudden he just pushes off his left foot lunges and just forehands this thing right back into my chest he's like i was getting it warm for you i knew i'd be hitting it later yeah really yeah but i mean it was so fun like i had a shot that i hit past my buddy and he was like oh baby better tell him to tie his shoes pull up his jock strap you know all this stuff just like really trying to rub it in you know and then there was he went over to play with my other buddy and they had a couple good points and he was like chest bumping him like crazy. And I mean, it was just, he was really fun.
Starting point is 00:32:26 Like, yeah, I see why people like pickleball fans. I see why pickleball fans really like him. And he's just very engaging, really fun guy. And yeah. Is there, is it, is there like anybody else that's really good and popular in the pickleball world? That's like more like he's kind of new school. It sounds like he's like really like the happy Gilmore's of the world. Like he's more, yeah, no, he's kind of like, he kind of is though. He's more like he's kind of new school it sounds like he's like really like the happy gilmore's of the
Starting point is 00:32:45 world like he's more yeah you know he's kind of like he kind of is though yeah he's more like rowdy is there is there some like you know faction of the pickleball universe it's like oh we don't really like that's not how pickleball's supposed to be played i'm not even really in it i feel like i've seen stuff just because i'm in these ridiculous uh pickleball facebook groups and um because it's only it's people like 50 and up primarily chatting in here so you get some just like very antiquated opinion everything so yeah you're absolutely right like there's people that are like oh ben johns plays it the right way that's how it's supposed to be done so what i saw is i think i don't even know if he's out of frustration
Starting point is 00:33:19 or out of happiness either way um i think tyson snapped one of his paddles uh and that way i mean that caused an uproar yeah you would have thought he snapped his wife in half and people in the river people literally like you have kids man yeah and i'm like what who cares that's not there he broke a paddle over his knee it's a paddle yeah no he was he was getting killed by ben johns in a singles championship match and yeah just walking like during a timeout and just kind of like bo jackson's his paddle and yeah there was outrage about this i didn't see that literally they're like kids the man has a family and i'm like i was like who cares dude the pickleball community is so funny just because it's still in its infancy and it's primarily it's
Starting point is 00:34:00 the older people with the loudest voices right so you get some funny takes and some funny opinions. Then you had a bunch of people that were like, uh, cause that paddle that he uses is like 250, $300. What kind of example does this say? You want to just give that to me? I'll take a free paddle or something,
Starting point is 00:34:15 you know, blah, blah, blah. Yeah. That's great. Yeah. You,
Starting point is 00:34:19 you nailed it. Yeah. There's somebody who's out there. Pickleball purists. Yeah. It's just like anything else. It's like, Oh,
Starting point is 00:34:24 this guy doesn't do it the right way. Whatever saw some uh some s'mores purist in the facebook group this week too very upset at me for picking barry bonds oh barry bonds does not deserve to be on this list like deserve we made up the list what kind of like premeditated you know like requisites does uh does someone need to be on this s'mores list yeah just just whatever we want i can't believe he can't he doesn't deserve to be on this list sorry man but yeah it was it was a really fun day uh had some good points with the pros there's i mean they're still obviously way better than i am but we we definitely hung and had some really fun rallies and yeah it was a good time it was a really really unique event i mean i think that's a it was i was i was telling it to sam because she came and played too but obviously
Starting point is 00:35:09 pickleball is still pretty small compared to a lot of other sports but think about like your favorite sport like used to be for me golf and you just get to go and play with like six top 20 golfers yeah like that's pretty cool yeah you know so for me like pickleball small but it's not to me and so to go play with six pros people that i really only watched on like you're on cloud nine youtube streams yeah it's like this is pretty fun wow yeah that is cool so someday scott you're gonna be one of those i hope maybe i'll get invited to play as an amateur yeah ball with the stars featuring scott and sam peck does it feel like does it feel like a circle anytime you add a circle it's a circle anytime you add with the stars on something these days the stars are actually not really stars dancing
Starting point is 00:35:56 with the stars it's like you don't know any of those people except for the athlete kind of like c plus list like look up dancing with the stars cast right now. And let's see how many people Jake knows. I know Charlie D'Amelio just won. There you go. There's one. I didn't even know they were still doing it. Who we got? Okay.
Starting point is 00:36:17 I'm trying to find the most recent season here. I think this is current. I'm going to find this before Scott does. All right. Joseph Baina. Oh yeah. Joseph Banks. Nope. going to find this before Scott does. All right. Joseph Baina. Oh, yeah. Joseph Banks. Nope.
Starting point is 00:36:27 Not where you buy suits. Yeah. Joseph A. Banks. Joseph Baina. Joseph A. Baina. I literally, I have no clue who he is. Okay. Selma Blair.
Starting point is 00:36:35 Ooh, that name sounds familiar. Selma. It's that city in Alabama. Yeah, that's also true. She is. The whole city's on dancing stars. Selma Blair is Reese Witherspoon's counterpart in legally blonde one of my favorite movies counterpart like kind of like faux like you know the girl that you x
Starting point is 00:36:52 the fake reese witherspoon you guys know legally blonde i've seen it once only once yeah recently too really yeah yeah it's the girl that like marries her boyfriend okay or is engaged to her boyfriend but then they end up being friends at the end anyway okay so she's like she's like the fourth biggest uh you know person in the movie that was coming out like 25 years ago yes okay uh wayne brady oh yeah wayne brady's pretty big love wayne brady yeah so good on whose line uh sam champion nope runs the champion clothing brand the champions classic never heard of him with With the stars. Charlie D'Amelio and Heidi D'Amelio. Don't know about Heidi. Must be her mom.
Starting point is 00:37:28 Mom, I'm guessing. The one that did the Machine Gun Kelly thing? Was that it? What? I don't know. I thought her mom had some drama with some rapper. It was a good guess. You were throwing stuff out there.
Starting point is 00:37:44 I don't think that had any drama. I think it could have been Machine gun Kelly's the one with Megan Fox. I knew that okay, okay We should do tabloids sometime. Yeah, I like fill in the blank I thought the Addison Rae's mom. That's it with young gravy White rapper with a TikToker's mom. You guys sound like you're playing a version of the game Clue with like pop culture people. And it was with Young Gravy. Anderson Rae's mom in the library with Young Gravy.
Starting point is 00:38:16 With the ring light. That's pretty funny. All right. You got any more? Is that it? No, we got a bunch more okay jesse james decker oh yeah eric decker's wife yeah uh that makes you a star oh she's a she's like a country artist as well okay she's a pretty big influence on her own probably more followers
Starting point is 00:38:38 than eric decker good for her probably trevor donovan nope sounds like a hockey player though never heard of him doesn't it yeah he doesn't have all the assists from donvor donovan nope sounds like a hockey player though never heard of him doesn't it yeah he doesn't have all the assists from donovan donovan uh daniel durant oh wait kevin is that his real name is daniel does he go by kevin is he tall and black he looks just like kevin durant which one oh right there my mouse is on you that guy looks like he's also a foe of uh reesepoon's Legally Blonde. That guy should be on a billboard for State Farm. Doesn't he look like that? Or like an attorney.
Starting point is 00:39:08 Or a real estate, yeah, or something. Jungle law. Yeah. Injured at work? Call Devin Durant. What's his name? Daniel Durant. Daniel Durant.
Starting point is 00:39:16 Teresa Giudice. Giudice. This is the celebrity division? Isn't this crazy? Yes. With the stars. That's what I'm saying. Like, pickleball with the stars.
Starting point is 00:39:24 Like, yeah, you've never heard of it I'm gonna look up who these people are to Vinnie guada guada Nino Guadagnino No, I think we're gonna be eligible for a dancer at the stars Yeah, three years they look and sound like Jersey Shore characters. Yeah thing Cheryl lad Cheryl lad she needs a stage name. That's not a good name. Cheryl Ladd. Jason Lewis.
Starting point is 00:39:48 Okay. I mean. Oh, he was the guy that did the tags on all those Macklemore songs. He's definitely been in a soap opera. Can we go back? Yeah, that's him. That looks like a soap opera actor. That's the guy, right? Jason Lewis.
Starting point is 00:40:01 Shangela. That's it? Yep. That's her first name in life? Shangela. She's a stage name? Yeah, you can't go by one name until everyone knows your one name i will say shangela looks like shangela sean and an angela oh oh that's another way of getting to one name one name one gender uh jordan sparks oh I've heard of her. Why was she the very last on the list? Kate Colorado.
Starting point is 00:40:28 Oregon Swiss. Shout out. What? She worked at CannaCut. Really? As a camper. Do you remember Joe White's talk about her? You're like, for one time, Jordan Sparks, she would throw her little heart up. She would throw a heart up? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:40:42 She learned this when she was a camper. Now she's doing it on the big stage. No, that's the funniest thing was that Joe never came to our camp. The main president, founder. No, he went to K1 though all the time. He lived there sometimes. Same with KKwaii. He just never came to K country. He missed out on some stories, some stories dude but at the same time it was kind of like let him be
Starting point is 00:41:08 like you hear that every time he's in camp everyone's like worried that you know people are not doing the right thing for joe or something yeah do you have any good like one-on-one stories with him i remember one time honestly he kind of tyson mcguff to me one time as far as a physical touch goes i believe it wait who's this? This is the, like the president owner of one of them. His dad started Keanu Cook. Okay. And imagine like George Bush in Keanu Cook form,
Starting point is 00:41:34 basically. That's what I think. Like, like anybody that does an impression of Joe White, I think they're basically doing George Bush as well. So anyway, trying to figure out if I was doing george bush either way um we had to do a skit together one time which this guy is pretty old and he's like hey i want to do which
Starting point is 00:41:51 one's programs guy and they're like right here i was like what's up he's like i want to do a skit with you and i was like great and so this is like parents day he's old let me just give a quick background anybody he's old but he's super intense he was like very fit back in his day probably still is pretty fit still definitely fit for a college football player. Yeah. Was he a lineman? I think it was a nose tackle for SMU. The guy is tiny,
Starting point is 00:42:11 but I mean, nose tackles in the fifties were scrawny. So he was par for the course. Is that accurate? They really were. Oh, I feel like, yeah,
Starting point is 00:42:18 everyone was just tiny. Just everyone. Yeah. Oh, sorry. I thought you had more. That's, that's like that.
Starting point is 00:42:23 No, I think yes. Southern just, yeah. Quirky. It has a very certain way. He likes things done. oh sorry i thought you had more that's that's like that no i think yes southern just yeah quirky it has a very certain way he likes things done if joe says he wants it you should probably do it anyway so yeah he's like i want to do a skit for all the parents and uh oh parents oh no i don't know i tie some enough to him sorry i remember the story now basically i mean right before about to go on stage joe is telling me all right here's how it's going to work you're going to be a boy in like a in like an arcade and i'm going to be one
Starting point is 00:42:49 of the games and you're going to keep trying to put a quarter in me and it doesn't work it's like some old school type like skit or whatever where does the quarter go i mean this is so long ago i can't believe i've ever even remembered as much this is right before you're going up there yeah yeah he's telling me all this and it's like this is so different than. I can't even remember it as much as this is right before you're going up there. Yeah. Yeah. He's telling me all this. And it's like, this is so different than like, I mean, it's such a like, you know, there's like the classic joke format where there's a blonde, a brunette and a redhead. And like, it's like, this is normal.
Starting point is 00:43:14 This is normal. And this one's weird. It was like that. It was like, I go into the toy store three times. Okay. First time. It's normal. Second time.
Starting point is 00:43:20 It's normal. Third time. He comes to life and shoots me. I think it was like how it went. I think he was like a native American or something. Okay. Anyway, I just remember taking some creative liberties and acting like,
Starting point is 00:43:31 cause I thought it would get a kick out of the parents. And there were counselors out there watching. I was like, they're going to appreciate this. Cause no one ever stands up to Joe. That's how I was standing up to him. But I kept acting like my quarter was getting jammed and I was putting it in his chest.
Starting point is 00:43:42 So I kept like hitting his chest, acting like it was jammed. And, uh, did he like it? Like, I don't know. I don't know if he didn't say like don't you ever do it because he was had to be frozen oh he was like uh he was a game so he was like this and i was like ah jammed and i'm like getting joe white on the chest just kind of smacking him and oh maybe it's in this slot you should like shove it in his forehead oh wait i came out the bottom all right let me try again did they love it did people laugh no i do not think they loved it really it was uh it was a fun memory with joe that's great i don't oh sorry quick hitters here uh joseph baina arnold schwarzenegger's son what sam champion weatherman on good morning america trevor donovan 90210
Starting point is 00:44:23 daniel durant in the movie coda coda bag coda boo i love these quick interest uh viddy guanagino jersey shore oh yeah um who else did i have shangela accurate sean and angela okay yeah drag queen for shangela maybe it's shangela then do they get to dance with a partner or do they have to dance by themselves? Uh, I'm sure. I'm pretty sure they're with a partner. Okay. Got it. Just got it.
Starting point is 00:44:51 Oh, it doesn't take two to tango. Um, yeah, still, still plowing through the list here. Hold on. You guys can keep talking.
Starting point is 00:45:00 I'll get you with a few more. Just Arnold Schwarzenegger's son is your most notable thing. Cheryl Ladd, original Charlie's Angels. So she's pretty old. Okay. She's pretty old. Jason Lewis. Did you ever do like a parent's ceremony?
Starting point is 00:45:19 Did you ever do a skit for that? I don't know. I can't. Sorry. No, I don't think so. That was like my favorite skit for that i don't know i can't sorry no i don't think so um that was like my favorite skit to do because it was like okay i can make make some jokes for parents as well i don't think we did a skit i think i would talk and try to be funny when i would talk oh yeah i think like acting it was like i i maybe i've talked about this on the podcast now i'm thinking about it but
Starting point is 00:45:39 i would sit out in the uh stands with the parents at a comedy show it oh you should i wanted to do it so bad i would sit out with the stand with the parents in the stands and the parents. I've always wanted to do this at a comedy show. Oh, you should. I wanted to do it so bad. I would sit out with the parents in the stands and I would be a parent. I was basically a disgruntled parent and I would just complain and whine. Kind of like, I was almost like, well, one year I was kind of like the conservative dad kind of character.
Starting point is 00:45:59 I was just like whining about blah, blah, blah. And then one year I was like a British guy, you know. That's fun. But I would sit out there and while the guy is giving a speech, like the director and like doing all this stuff, I've had a great two weeks. I was like, can you get a load of this guy? Speed it up. You know, just like being able to heckle kind of like what you're saying. Like no one stands up to Joe White. Like no one messes with them. It's like, yeah, no one really says these kinds of things at camp. So everyone's just like very uncomfortable. Like, and then they see
Starting point is 00:46:23 what you is this guy. Yeah. That's funny. Oh yeah. There were some great jokes that we would say, you know, like, yeah, I graduated from Texas a and M Corpus Christi satellite campus,
Starting point is 00:46:34 you know, all these different things. And, but yeah, my favorite joke was like, you know, I think I didn't mention all this. Sorry.
Starting point is 00:46:40 So whatever. But like they, they would say, you know, there's a free version of our devo rap online for you to download if you want to practice this at home and i'll go free more like two thousand dollars because that's how much it's so expensive to go to camp and so all the parents loved that joke you know that was it uh and then eventually like i would go up there and like
Starting point is 00:47:04 interrupt the whole thing and be up on stage and whining about how ridiculous it was that these kids stayed in barns and how nasty and dirty it was and then like the the protagonist like the hero of the time would come out and like pick me up and throw me in the lake that's such a good idea to give parents a glimpse of what their kids have done the last exactly like this is so fun even just like announcements can be fun yes whatever right it was so much fun and yeah they would just they would throw me in the lake and throw women you know all the kids yelling so it was awesome scott quick hitters last two theresa judice real housewives of new jersey so i was not far off judice and jason lewis was in sex in the city
Starting point is 00:47:40 okay yeah these are yeah so I said C plus list. I think we have a few like B list and then like D minus list. Yeah, celebrities. Yeah, I'd say Wayne Brady and Jordan Sparks seem like the big names there. And probably the D'Amelio's too. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:47:56 Oh, that's right. They probably have a bigger following than anybody. Yeah, that's true. Hey, real quick. We are sponsored by a ghostie this episode. Oh, let's go. Let's go. Always a little extra fun when it's a Ghostrunners listener who sponsors us.
Starting point is 00:48:10 This one is Ryan Guy. What a guy. You've probably seen him. I feel like he's very active in the Facebook group. Very funny and just very positive. Always love his comments and, you know, anything he has to say in there. But he sponsored the podcast. He wrote a book, people.

Starting point is 00:48:50 hey, I want to advertise with you guys. I think you guys have a lot of basically just intelligent listeners, but who also enjoy goofy, clean comedy. And that's what this book is, kind of clean, goofy comedy for teens and adults. It's a light-hearted book full of absurd situations can i can i read what it says in the back real quick it doesn't take itself too seriously it doesn't take itself too seriously it sounds i i've read parts of it i'm not gonna lie and say i've read the whole thing but i have skimmed have you read the whole thing
Starting point is 00:49:16 i'm not gonna lie and say i have brad's not a liar um but the back of it i mean it says what do you get when you cross an aardvark a skunk and a couple meteor cross lovers with technology in a series of cataclysmic events i've never asked myself that question before but after thinking about it i say i don't know the answer is atomic aardvark crack it open crack it open i i love here's here's all the words for it scott ready it's exciting it's comedy it's action it's suspense it's got a little bit of romance it's sci-fi it's a novel guaranteed to be the best one i've ever written of those kind of things ryan says so i i really appreciate his his writing style and humor and i think yeah it does seem very funny i mean every single page we would open up to it'd be like this is funny there's some wacky going on
Starting point is 00:50:04 this is a wacky fun book so just a few excerpts from some reviews uh someone said you know hey Ryan took an unbelievable premise ridiculous characters in a pasta palace and wove a tale that kept me turning the pages to find out what happens next pasta palace pasta palace that's right Scott read the book if you if you want to know more yeah and it's very cheap it is uh it's only $3.99 so I, surely you guys can afford to at least check it out. Yeah. I've checked out much more for much less. I'll say that.
Starting point is 00:50:31 Anything from Sheehan, you know, like, okay, the shoes are $12. Even if they don't fit, who cares? Yeah. Even if this book doesn't fit you, it'll fit for someone. Yeah. Give it to your little brother. He's got smaller feet. I mean, the guy wrote a book.
Starting point is 00:50:44 That's amazing. That's crazy. A lot of people will talk about it. Yeah. pages we talking here i'm gonna guess 289 wow i thought you almost nailed it 213 or so okay i'm not really good with numbers pages i'll say that hey thick pages 399 you're getting some thick pages so yeah uh go check it out at the link in the description wherever you're listening or watching this podcast you can also just uh look up atomic artwork artwork ah you gave me a word with two r's you got it yeah yeah atomic all about on amazon uh just search it in there and yeah check it out get it for someone this christmas get it for someone this new year's get it for someone this valentine's day get it for someone this saint patrick's day this This Ghost Runners trip. While we're on the subject. Let's talk about Atomic Art Vark real fast because none of the other books matter except for the Bible. I wrote a I wrote a two series book
Starting point is 00:53:34 in elementary school. Do you remember when we had to do that? We had to write books in elementary school? I don't remember specifically. I liked writing books so I did. I wrote a two series book called Mojo Man and Zito Man. What? I've never heard of it.
Starting point is 00:53:48 And basically, I'm pretty sure the plot for the movie Undercover Brother was loosely based off of my books. Do you remember that movie? Undercover Brother? It was like a black version of Austin Powers, I feel like. Yeah, kind of. It was like he had a fro. He was very groovy. I can picture the guy.
Starting point is 00:54:04 It's Tim Meadows. Yeah. Yeah. I can picture the guy. It's Tim Meadows. Yeah. Yeah. I think, right? Yeah. Basically, I wrote this book about this guy who's a very groovy, like, 70s character, but also saved the world. Like, he had magical platform shoes and bell bottoms.
Starting point is 00:54:15 Threat level mojo midnight. Dude, I, well, when I was, when my dad moved out of their, out of my childhood house, obviously going through all my stuff, and I came across those books. What was it againjo mojo man and zito nan zito nan zito nan not zito man it's indian i'm pretty sure i saved the books and i think they're in palmer's like bookshelf because i was like i'm not getting rid of these amazing and i had drawings too and i am the world's worst artist i mean there's nobody that can draw worse than me so the the yeah it's hilarious i'll try i'll bring i'll try to find them and bring them let you guys flip through what what kind of creative things did you do like growing up
Starting point is 00:54:55 like did you remember anything like that uh all sorts of stuff like with um with sports i think i'm just like creating new sports or like new characters in these sports if i oh really i i would do like i would basically make my own playing like trading cards like of i remember like i would make my own like player profile so i'd make one for like keith van horn antonio mcdice antoine walker antoine walker yeah all these guys in the 90s like and i would just like write my own player profiles about them and stuff're right I'd be like Keith Van Horn, you know a shooting guard from you know for the New Jersey Nets You know, I'll just say all these things. I remember making like Custom players and even custom teams but based off reality
Starting point is 00:55:38 So I when I was like probably in like fifth grade There's no one I looked up to more than the Stratford High School basketball team Okay, and so I made made the Missouri State University team on like NCAA March Madness 2005. I made them, because they're the same colors, the Stratford Indians. Okay. So, you know, I had, you know,
Starting point is 00:55:54 Tyler Gooden at point guard. Okay. Jamie Brown. Remember, you know. Lance Quick was in there. Lance Quickie. And we probably had Trent Ochsenreiter maybe coming off the bench okay yeah
Starting point is 00:56:06 good sixth man yeah but i had like more of a football player but also was on the basketball team uh yeah baseball catcher okay yeah same thing getting a lot of rebounds but not too many threes exactly that's exactly it and i would make their attributes like very realistic so like they weren't even that good so fun did you like kneel the ball in Madden like? And I tried to run out the clock Like Brad I'm trying to win I don't ever beat you you kneeled the ball. Did get pushback i was obsessed so i didn't really grow up playing anything with anyone else so i would just play the computer and we didn't have it online so i would just play the game i was supposed to be played fourth and eight i you know odds aren't good i got a punt for the day i got a punt i'm on my own
Starting point is 00:56:59 40 deep in here i'm going i'm putting here yeah i was just obsessed with reality for some reason i just love like how closely to a real thing can i make it so did you ever play any of like those simulate like sims or any like because now they have like games that are like just endless reality like whatever skyrim and all those things where you can like have your own characters within games right i don't really know exactly i don't know if i knew those existed really you know so i yeah yeah because the sims obviously like i remember playing it at some and you try to just build mansions and do all these ridiculous things but i can see you like actually like you know no it's it's eight o'clock in the
Starting point is 00:57:33 morning so that's when we feed our dog so we're gonna go feed them can you imagine the utility bills on a house that large yeah it's just crazy it's's like Dwight in Second Life. Yeah, exactly. Everything is exactly the same, except I can fly. You are. That is what you were doing. Like, by, like, being like, you know, that point guard is not the best shooter. He's not better than JJ Redick right now. And he's pretty short. Like, we need to accurate.
Starting point is 00:57:57 Oh, yeah, because I would do the same thing where I was like, oh, I got to put the late to South basketball team on a video game. But I would make every single attribute 99. Right. You know, maybe I would make every single attribute 99. Right. You know, maybe I would make their height the right heights and like make them look right. But they were amazing.
Starting point is 00:58:09 You know, Jake and I would have had the most realistic Madden games. I wish we could have been like watching the NFL. No, it wouldn't have been like watching dancing with the star. Oh, Scott, we got to play some video games.
Starting point is 00:58:22 Yeah, we do. That sounds fun. We need another pandemic. Gosh, that sounds fun. need another pandemic dude gosh that sounds fun um oh scott i know i wanted to ask you about um atomic aardvark uh atomic aardvark one of the three books that were sponsored by this episode apparently scott make sure you've been most for also mojo man find it on amazon for five cents uh you watch Get Out, and I love you text me about it. I've got a new one for you.
Starting point is 00:58:48 Oh, okay. Similar Get Out vibes. Have you guys heard of the Netflix show Behind Her Eyes? Who's in it? No one you've ever heard of. Vinny Pasquitano. Vinny Pasquitano. Yana Grechkina is actually in it.
Starting point is 00:59:05 Behind Her Eyes. I think I'veina. Yeah. Behind her eyes. I think I've seen. It's a British show. So I've got a lot of, Rachel and I watched a lot of it. Seems like a bunch of people that would be on Dancing with the Stars. Probably in a few years.
Starting point is 00:59:17 Yeah. Not anytime soon. So it's a British show. So for one, really enjoying the British vernacular, really enjoying, you know. Did you have to put on subtitles?
Starting point is 00:59:24 I did. I was stubborn the first two episodes. I was like, you know. Did you have to put on subtitles? I did. I was stubborn the first two episodes. I was like, you know what? I got to be honest with myself. I can't hear everything. The Scottish guy I had trouble with. Dude, when I went to, it was either Scotland or Ireland. It was like they were talking a different language to me.
Starting point is 00:59:36 Yeah. It's a little thick. I was like, I got it. It took me a good 10 seconds to like process. It was like I was on dial up internet or something. English slang is the best. Like Sam and I have watched, I'm not going to say which say which ones we've watched some trash tv like trash reality tv shows on netflix love island no go ahead no no no no no uh but yeah they just like one word like you look
Starting point is 00:59:56 fit or you look you look mad fit like means you look good oh you chapped oh you looking a little wonky yeah so i love saying that to say i'm like we're going on a date like like babe you look mad fit right now oh i like that accent you look mad fit right now but oh you look mad fit yeah and then like if like when you're talking to somebody like oh they have a great chat like great they're good to talk to yeah great banter great banter great banter yeah i've never met him proper yeah yes or proper on like the end of a sentence. Like it hasn't happened yet. Yes. I love.
Starting point is 01:00:27 That's kind of fun. You pick up a little British slang. Yeah. So is it a modern day show? Like it takes place in modern day ish. Yeah. I'm just convinced you guys to watch the crown. I'm like,
Starting point is 01:00:36 I know. Yeah. I was thinking of Peaky Blinders and I was like, I could not get through that show because it was so hard to understand. Oh, really? Yes. And in a modern era.
Starting point is 01:00:44 And, um, here's what i'll say first like two episodes which is not a very good sales pitch pretty slow mad whack yeah it's a bit wonky it's a bit slow pace it kind of moves like a turtle in the first first two episodes you know i was trying to think of a specific title but I couldn't think of any Jake looked mad puzzled there Eastern Grey It's not like no Eastern Grey
Starting point is 01:01:12 square over here Yeah the first two episodes are no Eastern Grey Let's just say that I'll take an Earl Grey Take that I was trying to figure out what you said London Fog perhaps London Fog yeah Maybe a little flat white take that I was trying to figure out what you said and take an L grade take an L grade at least a London fog perhaps
Starting point is 01:01:26 London fog yeah maybe a little flat white that was so bad that was a bad one turned into an Australian and my my my
Starting point is 01:01:37 mad yeah you're gonna love it anyway this is like borderline another ad read for the show now. But it's a, I think if you like Get Out, if you like any kind of psychological thriller, where I think when we were texting Scott, I love anything where I cannot predict it.
Starting point is 01:01:54 It's so original that it's like, even I'm trying my hardest to predict like, all right, bold prediction, this is going to happen, this is going to happen. I was so far off. No one in the world could predict this ending. I dare you. So if you like anything like that behind her eyes on netflix the first two episodes are slow i promise it's worth it good guess what jake i might start the first episode tonight okay it's slow okay it's a total and you know the second
Starting point is 01:02:18 episode it gets wicked fast you know it's pretty slow too. No, no, it's still pretty slow. Please listen to that. Open up your ears. But then on episode three, it's like straight pedal to the metal. Pedal to the metal. It's mental. It's action-packed proper. Yeah. It's like James Bond
Starting point is 01:02:35 and an Aston Martin kind of thing, you know? Kind of thing, yeah. Yeah. All right. I wish I knew more words so I could contribute. You're the one that's been
Starting point is 01:02:44 watching all the British shows. Where's your banter? Where's your banter? We watched it in a short amount of time. You know, it was like six, only six episodes. Why does that matter? It just, it's, you don't retain a lot when it happens so quickly. Watched three episodes last night.
Starting point is 01:02:57 Okay. All right. All right then. I'm a nice guy, so I'm not going to go any farther. They came bounding over. do you remember that video the dog guy i don't know what you're talking about i thought that was funny the guy that's uh it's an interview in australia and he's talking about these like loose rabid dogs or whatever and he goes they came back he's like soon as they saw me they came bounding over and then he just goes nuts like imitating the dogs like but he was insane i gotta pull up the audio for that it's an insane video australian just dog man
Starting point is 01:03:41 behind her okay i'm excited yeah i love all things english accents so count me in okay you love all things english accents all things like a soccer game commentated by an american is not as good as one commentated by an english guy give me a little soccer game teaser like like how a commentator would say it yeah mbappe mbappe's through. In your life, have you ever seen something that otherworldly? Scott Sterling. Yeah. One of the greatest YouTube videos of all time. Australian psycho barking man.
Starting point is 01:04:15 Everyone, listen up. And the dogs were across the boat. And as soon as they saw me, they came bounding over. And I just made it into the and his wife is like he's like doing it in his wife's ear he's such an old man you just don't expect it yeah is he like very chill and then all of a sudden he just screams
Starting point is 01:04:37 yeah I skipped to the good part but it's a very normal interview and then he just and then he's like and I jumped and they looked over there and he just like goes back bound that's a great thing over for four seconds he turns into a rottweiler oh yeah that's a good video it's amazing good memory anyway uh no notes what else is going on should we smart up we keep talking let's keep talking okay okay hey you guys want to sign up to for freaking florida or what yeah seriously we got some spots still two more people signed up we got a few more spots available i don't know how serious they were
Starting point is 01:05:10 but i got a lot of steve time this weekend with the steves and i think they we might be able to convince them to share a queen bed together that would be amazing i think there's a chance okay or do we throw it out there hey sign up and you could you might be able to sleep with the steve if you're if you're a guy yeah we're not Steve. If you're, if you're a guy. Yeah. We're not going to pair the Steve's up. Yeah. You're buying a spot with one of the Steve's.
Starting point is 01:05:30 I think so. Hashtag sleep with the Steve. Hashtag. Yeah. Sleepy Steve's. Sleepy Stevie. Yeah, man. I can't.
Starting point is 01:05:36 I'm still, yeah. I'm so pumped about that. Obviously it's winter time and it's, I'm so excited to just think about going to the beach. Flirted. Yeah. Flirted. Flirted. I saw the flirt. Flirt. I saw some supportive ghosties that live in Iowa.
Starting point is 01:05:50 They've been to F12. They've been to the basketball game. They're also coming to Florida. Rachel. Yeah. And Haley. Hannah. We'll get there.
Starting point is 01:06:00 Anyway, Rachel. Hannah. Hannah. Haley. Those are the two I guessed. Rachel. And. Hannah. Haley. Those are the two I guessed. Rachel. And? Hannah.
Starting point is 01:06:11 What about them? What'd they say? Basically, it was just fun to see them and they confirmed that they're going to Florida. Like they already bought their tickets. Oh, it's awesome. It's going to be so fun. Yeah. It's fun.
Starting point is 01:06:19 Sorry. I don't remember names, but it's the no notes episode. So. Oh yeah. Sorry. Grace. But yeah, hopefully tomorrow you guys will. don't remember names but it's the no notes episode so oh yeah sorry grace but uh yeah hopefully it's more you guys will michaela no notes just remembered off the dome right off the old dome um are we feeling christmassy these days oh yes scott scott wanted to talk about that a little bit talk christmas with you talk talk to us scot. I just need a little help getting in the Christmas spirit.
Starting point is 01:06:47 And you mentioned last week that you and Catherine had a list of things that you wanted to do or were going to do. And I would like to hear some of that list. Yeah, Jake and I were at lunch today and I was like, does it feel like Christmas is like next week? And we both agreed, no, it does not. I don't know if it's just an adult. Is it an adult thing? Like, are we just because we have too many other responsibilities? Or is it a weather thing? Like, it's still kind of grass is somewhat green out there. I don't know if it's just an adult. Is it an adult thing? Like, are we just because we have too many other responsibilities or is it a weather
Starting point is 01:07:05 thing? Like it's still kind of grass is somewhat green out there. I don't know. It hasn't really snowed here too much yet, but. Grass is always greener, Brad. Yeah. On the Christmas side. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:07:16 Let's see. Some of the things we had in our notes or in Catherine's ideas. Journey to Judea, which we did last week. Judea or Judea? Judea. Judea. Judeo, the penguin house. I don't know if that's something that people in Kansas city know about very well, but like growing up in Olathe, there was this one house who literally would
Starting point is 01:07:35 inflate. I mean, I think it started out with like maybe 20 penguins, like of those inflatable penguins. And I bet there's 200 or more now i mean it's unbelievable and it's just like a normal in the in a neighborhood and these people just do it and the neighbors i guess are just okay with it i don't know but this is the last year they're doing it so come check it out um union station or union station union stage have you ever been to sarcopar park it's got cool lights there i've driven past it with lights on that looks pretty cool diana rose um i did find out five birds died of bird flu at diana rose so is that enough to really care rest in peace for geese one duck oh okay when you said birds i was thinking like
Starting point is 01:08:17 sparrows no geese have souls um you can do an advent study um sarco she reads truth is a good one for you scott check it out um what other things do we do to get in the christmas spirit jake rose we make 25 and a half uh jean shorts videos about christmas just make as many videos as possible yeah what else did we say i mean just we did a lot of stuff at church so you can do scotty i think union station though going anywhere that has lots of people and lots of commercialization of christmas is awesome you know just like yeah just beautiful decorations and beautiful you know music and oh we went to the christmas symphony not this year but we have in the past christmas symphony amazing you can You can hear Home Alone, which is maybe the best
Starting point is 01:09:05 Christmas movie of all time. We'll talk about it later. I don't know. We'll find out. On the subject of Christmas things, I'm finding this to be very polarizing that I
Starting point is 01:09:13 enjoy this beverage. Are you guys eggnog fans? You don't enjoy eggnog? I love eggnog. I feel like everyone that I talked to recently thinks it's one of the grossest things that's
Starting point is 01:09:24 ever been made on planet Earth. I think those people haven't tried eggnog. You think they have? I don't know. Weren't we just talking about this yesterday? We were just talking about this yesterday because I was like, did I ask you if you had it or if you like it? Yeah, I was like, I need to have it again because you said it's just a bad name. It's the worst name for the greatest thing in the world.
Starting point is 01:09:43 Egg as a drink. Kind of like pickleball. Terrible name. Great thing. Yeah. That's probably in the world egg as a drinkable terrible name great thing yeah that's probably fair too yeah but what would you name pickleball i don't know i wish it was ding dong yeah wiffle wiffle tennis that's that's not too much more serious either when this um splack no eggnog uh dilt um eggn Yeah. The name egg for a drink is not ever. And nog. It's too many G's.
Starting point is 01:10:08 Nog's worse than egg. Yeah. Eggnog. Nogball. Pickleball. Nogball. Yeah. Take it away from each other.
Starting point is 01:10:14 Pickle, pickle nog and eggball. what does Dwight say about the word, uh, murder and muck duck? R is one of the most menacing letters. That's why it's called murder, not muck duck.
Starting point is 01:10:31 Yeah. It's kind of like that. Like g is like not an appetizing sound yeah egg nog too many just the nog what that's the only nog i know do you guys know of any like cinnamon nog or you know whatever bright nog sprite nog wizard of nog um can you search if nog is like a word by like obviously it is but like what does nog mean what is it to nog yeah have you nogged lately have you ever nogged me hey man like i just want to check on your heart real quick like i've been praying for you like have you been have you been noggin how often how often hey you've been dude be honest have you and rachel nogged no no this is one of those words that like it's just silly it's just a silly word it says a small block or peg of wood is oh you've nogged all the time then probably i nogged last night
Starting point is 01:11:18 for a while you nog in your chimney yeah yeah. Hattie walked in. Hattie walked in and said, Daddy? I said, what's up, sweetie? That's it. Nog. Okay, so that doesn't make any sense. So you're saying that a lot of your friends are saying eggnog is terrible? It also says meaning strong ale. So maybe it used to be or originated as an alcoholic beverage.
Starting point is 01:11:44 Yeah, that probably should have been the definition you read first. I'm working my way down the page, right? That's the only definition. Yeah. I just like, I just, I had a DFA, nice little perk yesterday. They had a hot chocolate and eggnog bar at the office. So you could like customize your cup of hot chocolate with all these different things. I think way back in the day, somebody asked asked like if you could have anything in the like any food in the world and it
Starting point is 01:12:09 was like not gonna make you like fat basically like any unhealthy and i think i said chocolate milkshakes or something like that i eggnog is right up there because eggnog is so bad for you yes but so good i love it like i could easily down a 20 ounce eggnog do you ever shave a little fresh nutmeg on the top i've never shaved fresh but i go nutmeg every time yeah shit try get a little nutmeg and get a little greater and great next time you're at the hibachi place try a little rum in your because it is nice as well it gives a nice little kick as well oh eggnog is insanely good yeah sam can't stand it i texted a few of my pickleball buddies yesterday they sent me a bunch of like emojis and gifs of people
Starting point is 01:12:50 throwing up and i was like guys what why eggnog is so good if you would if you let's let's figure out maybe not right now but maybe in the comments or in the facebook group this week go see figure out a better name for eggnog that we can market. I like it. Like our own Christmas thing. Christmas milk. And because there's gonna be so many people that have never even tried eggnog. And then they try this. They're like, this is amazing. You know, historically also known as milk punch or an egg milk punch.
Starting point is 01:13:16 That's terrible. I don't like either of those egg milk punch. Oh my gosh. But it is good. I'm going with Christmas milk for now. Scott, I'm sorry. No one. I'm glad you found a nog buddy.
Starting point is 01:13:28 Finally, found a fellow nogger. I'll nog with you all day, buddy. Yeah. Let's nog. Yeah. Brad, the way you're describing chugging the eggnog, you remind me of one of my favorite conversations this past weekend. The Steve's got talking about colonoscopies.
Starting point is 01:13:42 Fun. And your experience with it. Which is like voluntary. You don't have to do it if you don't want to, right? Like only everyone their experience with it which is like voluntary you don't have to do it if you don't want to right like right only ever once in a while yeah yeah i because i think i got up brought up about the colon cleanse and then they were like just do a colonoscopy that is kind of what you said it like i was like that sounds like a colonoscopy but just a little bit longer version of it just you're super hungry during it anyway so they got talking and steve coop was talking he's like you know i really didn't mind the colonoscopy you know you're out the whole time he's like i just hated that
Starting point is 01:14:08 liquid you have to drink beforehand oh yeah i've heard about this and my dad was like are you serious and he's like yeah it was awful your dad liked it my dad went they had to take it away from me that's amazing he was like i mean it would taste like gatorade i was like i could i would i wanted more like i was getting monthly colonoscopies that's hilarious because i've like everyone i've ever heard about the account of the colonoscopy says the same thing like that stuff is terrible that drink they make you have is awful and my dad was like is there a way for me to get more under the table colonoscopy i work i work for a food supplier like who supplies this i will buy it for wholesale how do i get this there's a black market for well yeah when you were describing the colon cleanse
Starting point is 01:14:49 last week i was like isn't that just prepping for a colonoscopy basically kind of like that's what you do pretty much either way still intrigued i want to see what happens make it happen i might yeah i might just go and just get a colonoscopy though it's the same thing it sounds easier sounds more expensive other names are rich like origin names for eggnog posset and in scotland they call it odd man's milk oh it's wonky what was it it's an old man's milk old man's milk no odd but it probably sounds like it's an old old odd man's old man's milk old man's milk and this in Scotland Yes With William Wallace What? Right?
Starting point is 01:15:28 Was that Scotland? Yes That's all I know Yeah Old man's In Scotland Wait is it odd or old? Odd
Starting point is 01:15:34 Odd In Scotland Christmas is a low-key celebration With a build-up to New Year's Called Hogmanay Hogmanay? Hogmanay Hogmanay
Starting point is 01:15:44 Hog Hogmanay I Hogmanay? Hogmanay. Hogmanay. I need subtitles. Exactly. That's kind of the darker one. Hogmanay. The biggest party of the year. Raising a glass or two of old man's milk in celebration.
Starting point is 01:15:57 This is awesome. Glass or two. Glass or two. You're going to love Behind Your Eyes. Two of the characters are Scottish. Okay. That's enough about eggnog. That's enough noggin'. I wanted wanted to air some grief i wanted to bag about eggnog a little bit yeah bag about it about it real quick no dilt here all right um i think we should transition
Starting point is 01:16:15 from there to schmores let's do it let's do it smooth transition smooth transition you want to talk about smooth eggnog old man's milk odd man's i still don't remember odd man's milk odd man odd man's milk hogman they odd man's milk yeah scott did all right in the s'mores scott demolished us last week i cornell hofstra slaughter i really think it was one of those things i think i just you know the the votes weren't very evenly distributed because i knew i i voted i did so poorly you know what i mean like i thought I had it. I still think I should have had it. I mean, I will have it in 20 years when people realize how good Patrick Mahomes
Starting point is 01:16:50 is. And LeBron James when he plays until he's 50 with his son. That would be wild if he gets, if they play in the NBA together. Could you imagine? That's pretty cool. I kind of hope that happens. That'd be sweet. Yeah. Okay. Anyway, the people have spoken regardless. Scott won won this week we are doing
Starting point is 01:17:07 matt washmore of christmas movies scott you get to select the order um we'll let brad get to the free throw line since he struggled last week so we're gonna go brad me jake great let's do it i like sitting too are we doing no are we doing s'mores okay um don't worry about it don't you worry child okay um my first pick is an easy first pick it is gonna be home alone yeah it's just it's my favorite thing i don't care if people are like oh it's not that good yes it is it is iconically amazing anybody like i feel like 90s right now are so popular just in general. It is one of the quintessential 90s movies. You go back in time.
Starting point is 01:17:50 It's like a warm hug the way you watch the beginning, the architecture, the vibe, if you will. Okay. If you've been to Des Moines Funny Bone and you've seen Home Alone, you know that they are one of the same. You know that, like, A plus on both, right? Indistinguishable. It actually reminds me, quick sidebar. It was very well decorated. The funny bone, which are normally pretty crappy on the inside, had a lot of garland
Starting point is 01:18:08 and Christmas lights. And while I was on stage, I was like, I was doing a little bit. I was like, this garland actually just kind of reminds me, I was not planning on saying this. And then I said a joke from one of our videos, which I felt like was okay. Judy Garland's? No, that was yours. I wasn't, I don't want to take your joke.
Starting point is 01:18:23 That was your joke. Oh, was it? I thought so. Good for me. Either way, I said the joke. I was like, yeah, when I was a kid, I don't want to take your joke that was your joke oh was it i thought so good for me either way i said the joke i was like yeah when i was a kid i used to want to be kissed underneath the camel oh yeah yeah yeah anyway keep going uh no home alone is just the it's it's my favorite it's the best it's the one like most years i don't watch that many christmas movies just because i wish i had more time i i i occupied. I have too much dilt if I watch too much movie. But I will always make sure to watch Home Alone. And it is so good.
Starting point is 01:18:52 Beautifully spoken. Thank you. Yeah. Good. Hattie has a book, like a Home Alone, like the story of Home Alone in book form. And she really wants to watch the movie. And my father-in-law, this past Thanksgiving,
Starting point is 01:19:04 was like, Hattie, you ready to watch Home Alone? And I was like, she's five years old. I don't know if that's your call. It is not quite time, some of the things they say in that movie. But it is, yeah, my favorite thing ever. I would like to hear Hattie quote the Tommy Gunn scene, though. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I mean, Hattie knows, like, she knows the story very well,
Starting point is 01:19:21 like, because of the book. Like, it's a pretty good depiction of it. So anyway, so is Bo. Bo loves the book the book all right my first draft pick is Elf starring Will Ferrell I was hoping to get it a third that's all right that's why I went to I set Brad up for a it's a number one draft pick that I knew he was gonna pick yeah so it's like I might as well give him the number one pick that's smart Scotty yeah yeah it's strategy a modern day classic really I think yeah Elf for for reason, I don't know why, like I didn't watch it for several years after it came out.
Starting point is 01:19:48 I heard people quote it all the time. I knew of it. And then I finally watched it. I was like, why did I not watch this way sooner? Will you see when it came out? Because I'm curious. I think it was like probably just a little bit too. I think we were just in the phase where it was like.
Starting point is 01:20:01 I'm gonna say early high school. What do you think? Two thousand three. Oh, is that accurate? That's earlier than I thought. But yes, I feel like we were just in the phase where it was like I'm gonna say early high school. What do you think? 2003 oh That's earlier than I thought but yes, I feel like we weren't in like the elf stage yet They're showing up like they're showing it in movie theaters right now movie theaters are hurting Oh, that was another thing Katherine said to do is like go watch a Christmas movie go watch Avatar You can do like they have like quote along sweet or whatever. They call it like yeah 2003 So I was 12 when that came out. See maybe, maybe that's why it took me a few years.
Starting point is 01:20:25 You want to watch Avatar together, Scott? Yeah. Dude, let's have a little day coming up where we play video games and go see Avatar. I would love to do that with you. You guys are Avatar guys? We play a couple 24 to 20 Madden games. A couple field goals in there.
Starting point is 01:20:40 And then go watch Avatar. Hit the tar. Hit the tar hard. But yeah, great movie. Hilarious. I love Will Ferrell. Great Christmas movie. I remember when it came out,
Starting point is 01:20:51 me and my dad went and watched it together. And I remember we were not smart apparently, but we left the theater thinking that it wasn't that good. And then all the funny parts were in the trailer. And in hindsight, it was probably just because I was 12. Yeah, that's what I'm saying. I think our age group was like, I don't know, too cool for school in some ways perhaps and now it's like
Starting point is 01:21:08 oh this is a great sentimental or day chanel i feel like they got her they they bought low on her absolutely now she really went up yeah new girl yeah yeah blonde zoe yeah good answer scott good answer scott thank you um i'm going to go with National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. Sure. I've been quoting it my whole life. Funniest Christmas movie ever? Perhaps. We'll see what else is on the list.
Starting point is 01:21:31 Who knows? Who knows? But yeah, so many good quotes. Maybe the most quotable National Lampoon's movie, I feel like. But, you know, bend over and I'll show you. You serious, Clark? I mean, those are, you know, bleepers full. Those are all great.
Starting point is 01:21:45 Sorry, we shouldn't bleep, but those are all good. And then after that, I'm probably going to go with Jim Carrey's The Grinch. Oh! Oh, no! You're excited?
Starting point is 01:21:57 That was my next pick. Oh, I hated Jim Carrey's The Grinch. What? Oh, really? Hated it. Why? I don't know. Do you currently hate it
Starting point is 01:22:02 or you just hate it when you first watched it? I don't think I've ever watched it again. I think I've watched it once in my life, so I think I currently hate it. Okay. i don't know i currently hate it or you just hate it when you first watch i don't think i've ever watched it again i think i've watched it once in my life so i think i currently hate it okay um i don't know i i don't i don't love the grinch story in general so maybe that's just me why so heartwarming i don't know i don't know i i truly don't think i have like a great reason besides just remembering and thinking this is not my kind of movie. So go ahead. Sorry. Cool.
Starting point is 01:22:27 I think it's so – Hey, good pick, good pick. Yeah, Jim Carrey. And his – for the most part, in his prime when he made that, and he's funny. And I think a lot of the jokes stay in the test of time. Me, Trey, Katie, and Rachel, and Alan all watched it together last December. It was really cute. Oh, really?
Starting point is 01:22:39 Okay. Yeah, watched it together last year. I was like, yeah, wow, this is pretty funny. There's like that – just one quick scene. He figures out there's an echo. And so he's going to try it. He's like, trick the echo.
Starting point is 01:22:48 It's really dumb, but basically he's just like, oh, okay. Whenever I say it says back to me. And so he's like, I'm an idiot. And then the echo comes back and says,
Starting point is 01:22:55 you're an idiot. We watch it every year. It's, it's, it's probably our, like one of our family's top. Yeah. I think it's underrated.
Starting point is 01:23:04 I think there was a new grinch that came out like a year or two ago as well so how do we feel about that being a pick on the list like is that too similar it's a different movie i think i feel like they're different they're they're pretty different have you seen the animated grinch i saw like 20 minutes of it last year what's your type of movie no i'm not a grinch guy the the the doctor seuss version i didn't love either so it's not my thing All right, those are my picks. All right, I'm gonna go with the animated Grinch oh, yeah, I actually so we watched it with Palmer the first time and
Starting point is 01:23:34 She became obsessed with it. Like it was it was her movie It was like anytime she wanted to watch something she wanted to watch the Grinch Are you talking about the new animated Grinch newest animated Grinch? Benedict Cumberbatch is the voice Benedict Cumberbatch Benedict yeah this is great episode for British accents but no it's uh it's really really well done the animation's really fun and every time I watch it the way they have like the way they portray Whoville I just want to live there like I just want to go live in Whoville it just looks like such a fun place to be okay yeah so I always like, every time we watch a movie, I'm like, man, I really wish that was a real
Starting point is 01:24:08 place. Scott's going for like the new age stuff. You know, Elf, New Grinch, Avatar. But yeah, we just watched it the other night. I still love it, even though I've seen it tons of times. It's a really good movie. I like the animated Grinch. Okay, my next
Starting point is 01:24:23 pick is going to be Home Alone 2. It's so good as movie. I like the animated Grinch. Okay. My next pick is going to be Home Alone 2. It's so good as well. Lost in New York. It's so good. Ghosties keep Brad in single digits this week. I don't even... No. That's fine.
Starting point is 01:24:35 Say what you want about Home Alone. I think... Is there like a popular opinion that people don't like Home Alone? No, no. No, I don't think so. I just... I think Home Alone's very good. I know that you guys know that I love home alone i wanted to yeah i picked the grinch so that you would have to pick for
Starting point is 01:24:50 both of your first i was excited too i was so excited too brother oh i because because to me home alone 2 is like one of those movies like there's very few second movies that are like maybe that's better than the first you know what i I mean? And Home Alone 2 is right up there. You're right. It doesn't probably get the appreciation for being just as good as the first one. Yeah. It's hard to make a second version. I,
Starting point is 01:25:09 and it's, yeah, it's so the New York, yeah. Everything about the, where he goes and goes and all around New York and he goes on top of the World Trade Center, which is always really interesting to see.
Starting point is 01:25:19 Yeah. I don't know. Donald Trump's in it. So that's awesome. No. Yeah. It's just so good. And I think,
Starting point is 01:25:26 I think Home Alone 2, the pranks are like the, the traps are even better. Yeah. So. You got a little smarter. Yeah. I laugh so hard,
Starting point is 01:25:33 man. So, and it's heartwarming. I mean, the, the pigeon lady, don't make promises you can't keep. It's kind of the Grinch of Home Alone 2.
Starting point is 01:25:42 There you go. You think she's bad. It turns out heart of gold. Heart of gold. Heart of green. So Home Alone 2 is you go you think she's bad turns out Heart of Gold Heart of Gold Heart of Green so Home Alone 2 is my second pick my third pick
Starting point is 01:25:48 is going to be It's a Wonderful Home Alone 3 yeah hey I was so let down by Home Alone 3 the only thing I remember
Starting point is 01:25:56 is White it was so white everyone was in white it was snowing out I remember the previews for it had Chubba Wumba's
Starting point is 01:26:03 tub thumping I get knocked out. And I was expecting, I loved that song when I was, whatever. You're like, they'll probably play that four or five times throughout the movie. They didn't play it once. I figured like, when are they going to play that song? That's all I wanted to hear was the whole time in the movie. I didn't think Home Alone 3 was that bad when you compare it to Home Alone 4.
Starting point is 01:26:23 You've seen them both? They made four of them? Caitlin and I have watched Home Alone. Home Alone 4 was like bad when you compare it to Home Alone 4? You've seen them both? They made four of them? Caitlin and I have watched Home Alone. Home Alone 4 was like a straight to TV movie. Is this the Fast and Furious franchise? Who knows how many they've made? Home Alone 4 was kind of recent, wasn't it? No, it came out when we were still kids.
Starting point is 01:26:35 There was, there's some Home Alone that came out. Scott, look it up. Think bad. There's some Home Alone that came out in like the last three or four years, I think. Really? Yeah. I know Home Alone 4 was real bad. And so I was like, you know, once I've seen that, Home alone 3 wasn't that bad actually yeah there's one rc car he's got
Starting point is 01:26:48 chicken pox 2021 home sweet home alone there you go no my pick is not home alone 3 for the record my pick is it's a wonderful life it is one that i think the older you get the more life experience you get the more you realize whoa this is a good movie gonna make you cry it's gonna make you cry it's a good pick to get the best third round. It's a good pick to get in the third round. I should watch that. A great pick to get in the third round. Probably because two of my friends picked the Grinch movies. I'm feeling very good about my fourth pick as well.
Starting point is 01:27:13 So go ahead. Cool. Back to Scott. My third pick, more new school Christmas, Klaus. Oh my gosh. What? You think I'm going to get 10%? Dude, I'm telling you. I'm gonna get 10% dude
Starting point is 01:27:25 I'm telling ya I've heard good things about Klaus Klaus is very critically acclaimed I haven't even heard of it that's why I was it's pretty new
Starting point is 01:27:30 it's on Netflix it's animated the animation is really cool but it's like an origin story of Santa Claus I love origin stories yeah basically
Starting point is 01:27:38 how he became you know the big fellow with a beard that gives kids gifts but it's a really unique story really unique take on but it's a really unique story really unique take on it it's really well done very enjoyable movie okay so klaus if you haven't
Starting point is 01:27:51 seen it it's like a netflix original is that right yes yeah yep yeah no i i feel like as a dad you start watching some of those movies again or like maybe did you see it with your is it a kid's movie yeah you say yeah but like katherine's so old school that we haven't watched many of the new school stuff, but it's like, okay, I'll watch the Grinch again or something. So anyway, go ahead, Jake. I'm sorry. I'm just laughing. I'm just laughing.
Starting point is 01:28:14 I feel like it's, at some point it's my turn to pick a movie that also loses me at the competition. Like we're each going to have one. What do I have? Home Alone 2? I'm having your first two picks being Home Alone. I, Ghosties, please just come through as Home Alone 2. I'm having your first two picks being Home Alone. I, I, I,
Starting point is 01:28:26 ghosties, please just come through as, we'll see. Home Alone lovers. We'll see what they think. Please think it's good. You're probably going to win. Okay.
Starting point is 01:28:33 Because I'm not going to, whatever. Okay. My third pick, not using my computer, no notes. My third pick is going to be, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.
Starting point is 01:28:40 Okay. I think it was one of the first Christmas movies I ever, like the, the Rankin and Bass, like the kindin and bass like the kind of like claymation looking one stop motion yeah yeah stop motion yeah the like yeah island of misfit toys everything those are sweet those are sweet nostalgic movies for sure yeah yeah probably didn't appreciate them that much when i was a kid but when i think back to
Starting point is 01:28:56 like yeah that was like some of the first christmas movies and then here comes the big one uh you guys know it you guys love it you're all waiting when it going to come on the list? Daddy's Home 2. That was on TV the other day. Well, you should have watched it because it's one of my favorite Christmas movies, Scott. Wait, 2? Daddy's Home 2. Okay. There's some funny parts. I have seen the first one randomly.
Starting point is 01:29:20 Okay. I've only seen the second one. Was it on like an airplane or something? No, Rachel told me to watch it. Really? We've watched it twice together. From what I remember, Daddy's Home was Mark Wahlberg and Vin Diesel. Will Ferrell.
Starting point is 01:29:33 Will Ferrell. Will Ferrell. And Mel Gibson is in Daddy's Home 2. Is John Cena in it ever? Yes. He comes in at the very end. Of the first one? Maybe.
Starting point is 01:29:44 Yeah, I think it's the first one. Okay, so Mel Gibson is like the other dad or something? Yeah, he's like a father-in-law. He's Mark Wahlberg's dad, I believe. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's what it is. It's a Christmas movie. I didn't realize that.
Starting point is 01:29:53 Yeah, it is very, very Christmas. Like, they have to spend Christmas together. So no doubt that it's a Christmas movie. I know it doesn't make the top of most people's list, but if you've seen it, like, that's pretty funny. I like it. It's a wild card, Jake. It's kind of like Get Out. Like, if people are like, no, I've seen that like that's pretty i like it it's a wild cards jake it's kind of like get out like if people are like no i've seen that it's great or maybe not or maybe people
Starting point is 01:30:09 are like whoa jake just recommended behind her eyes i'm not watching that anymore that was a pick to make rachel happy she loves that movie all right sweet i promise pick yeah promise promise pick i could have picked a christmas story but i haven't seen it so i don't want to pick it because i would be pandering to the audience i I don't like the Christmas story that much. Good. We don't have to pick it. I've never seen it. Guys, we don't have to pick it.
Starting point is 01:30:29 No, no. It's cheating. Because we don't have to pick it. Well, Daddy's Home 2 was committed to, what's it called? Guilty of steroids. It doesn't deserve to be on your list. Daddy's Home 2 is not in the Hall of Fame, even though it has lots of records. Too many PEDs in that movie.
Starting point is 01:30:44 It doesn't deserve to be on the list that I come up with. Mark Wahlberg did a lot of steroids. too many peds in that movie it doesn't deserve to be on the list mark walberg did a lot of steroids mark walberg wakes up early he doesn't deserve to be on your list all right my my fourth pick is scrooge or otherwise known as a christmas carol not a christmas story the uh bill murray one no it's uh it's one of the older ones it's actually the movie's called scrooge. This is the movie that literally I was raised on. Like we watch this every Christmas as a family. OK, there's parts in it that are kind of creepy because some of the plot line of it is a little creepy, like ghosts of Christmas past and future and all that stuff. But the story is all is very heartwarming.
Starting point is 01:31:20 Like it's a great Christmas movie. OK, but yeah, this is the movie I was raised. I think it was came out like the 70s, maybe. Yeah,s maybe yeah 70s or 80s pretty old okay does this have the please sir may i have some more it's uh it's got uh tiny tim he's got a crutch on his arm he's got some debilitating disease but he loves christ Christmas proper for the record you shouldn't vote for Scott just because of his awesome voices
Starting point is 01:31:47 okay I feel like Scott won the voices Father Christmas he's a mean old man it's a good song Scott won the voices s'mores
Starting point is 01:31:55 like because it's Christopher Walken impression Robin Williams I'm like you didn't even pick Christopher Walken I always see comments
Starting point is 01:32:03 that are like Brad won me over with his honorable mentions I'm like leave it out separate it oh man okay so i this is my last pick you're up baby i'm gonna go i'm gonna go charlie brown christmas with my last pick um i think it's just another like classic really to me personally i think the older i get the more i really appreciate the music more than anything. Cause I'm a music nerd,
Starting point is 01:32:26 but I think the Linus and Lucy is like my favorite Christmas song. Maybe. Um, how's it go? That's what you started with. Um, but yeah, and some people don't think it's really that.
Starting point is 01:32:45 It's like more of a Charlie Brown song than a Christmas song, but I only listen to a Christmas song. I was going to say, I did not know that was a Christmas song. It's definitely, I think they play it in other Charlie Browns as well. But anyway,
Starting point is 01:32:55 just a really heartwarming thing. And Linus at the end, you know, spouting off the gospel story, the Christmas story is awesome. So that's my final pick. Good picks. I mean, talk about a warm way to end it
Starting point is 01:33:09 with Charlie Brown Christmas. I'll tell you right now. I feel very fuzzy. Yeah. I feel like I have a gamer's vest on me. Yeah. Warm and fuzzy. A little haptic feedback.
Starting point is 01:33:17 Yeah. On the front. I will say my first honorable mention was Die Hard. I thought you were going to say that. I watched that the other night. It is, that was the second, third time i've ever watched it my life it is so good i've never seen it you let's let's jake do you guys mind do you guys mind taking off avatar because i don't have any interest in that and watching die hard instead i already have avatar showtimes pulled on my computer so i can't can you see if there's any die hard showtimes throw it over your computer
Starting point is 01:33:40 die hard at block plus i'll fuck it. I'll see Die Hard. I mean, it's so good, guys. And you guys would, oh, it's so good. On TV, it's on Starz tomorrow. Okay. You're going to be out of town.
Starting point is 01:33:53 Dang it. Let's do a virtual watch together. Anyway, Catherine and I watched it the other night. And Catherine was like into it. Cool. And it's,
Starting point is 01:34:00 but it's not that much of a Christmas. It takes place during Christmas time, but whatever. Other honorable mentions. Miracle on 34th Street. Haven't seen it.
Starting point is 01:34:10 Let me think of other ones. Oh, have you guys ever seen Four Christmases? That was on my list. That was on my list. That's one of those like, people don't appreciate this movie enough, but it's really funny. Probably my version of Daddy's Home 2.
Starting point is 01:34:20 I've talked about it before on the podcast, how much I appreciate the opening scene of that movie and how much I'd always like adored and wanted to do that with a. Are you going to do it with Rachel someday? I think it'd be very fun. I think Rachel would have a hard time. It's where you don't really necessarily realize that they're like role playing in public where he role plays. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 01:34:37 Annoying, like nerdy account. Yes. Yes. Anyway, then they just go to their shared house together afterwards. I always thought that would be so fun. Like you have to go pick up your wife, but she doesn't know what you're gonna look like and you just like all of a sudden just become a character yeah that's so fun yeah that would be fun my name is vinnie guggentino yeah i had four christmases as well i had that yeah christmas story is not one i think so many people my dad loves it i just don't i don't get it i don't get
Starting point is 01:35:03 why people like it so much it's kind of a sad movie it's like it's like mean humor a lot like the santa claus like the the famous shot is the santa claus you see his boot pushing like kicking the kid's forehead and pushing him down a slide and going ho ho ho is it a movie where there's a lot of like ha ha yeah 90s ha ha yeah kind of this weird i don't know i think it was like if you grew up because it lot of like, ha ha. Yeah. 90s. Ha ha. Yeah. Kind of this weird, I don't know. I think it was like, if you grew up, cause it kind of like talks about this,
Starting point is 01:35:30 like kids, you know, childhood. And so if you grew up in like the 70s, 60s, whatever, you would really appreciate it because it's like, that was my childhood.
Starting point is 01:35:39 Maybe. I don't know. Not my thing though. Hey, Oh, somebody just bought a ticket to Florida. Whoa. Sarah Flippo. Hey, Sarah Flippo. Hey-oh. Somebody just bought a ticket to Florida. Whoa.
Starting point is 01:35:45 Sarah Flippo. Hey, Flippo. Are you flipping kidding me? That's a fun name. Sarah Flippo is coming to Florida. Florida. Flipp-da. Florida.
Starting point is 01:35:55 Shout out Sarah Flippo. That's fun. My only honorable mention that hasn't been mentioned yet is Frosty the Snowman. Sure. I learned I was going to mention that. I was going to mention this list that I haven't seen that many Christmas movies. That's okay with me. The OG Frosty. I haven't seen that many Christmas movies and that's okay with me the OG Frosty like maneuvering around
Starting point is 01:36:09 almost hovering on that snow but leaving a little path I love the voice of the narrator in that movie that's nostalgic smoking a pipe I think the only one I have that hadn't been said was Santa Claus with Tim Allen that is a good honorable mention
Starting point is 01:36:24 don't pick Scott's just because of that it's fine and been said was Santa Claus with Tim Allen. Oh, that is a good honorable mention, Scott. I didn't care for that movie. Don't pick Scott's just because of that honorable mention, but that's good. It's fine. I liked it. That movie's fine. It's really popular, but it was, I don't know, it was fine. Did you guys ever see the Arnold Schwarzenegger jingle all the way?
Starting point is 01:36:35 No. I just know the line, put that cookie down. I'm more familiar with his son on Dating with the Stars. That's right. What's his name again? John Beto. What is it? Selma Blair.
Starting point is 01:36:48 Jose Beño. Jose Beño. Joseph. Joe. John. It doesn't matter. John Beño. Yeah.

Starting point is 01:38:01 it's really really detailed it looks terrible now but back in the day no I think it still looks good. Really? I don't know. I thought it was cool. Not as good of animation as the animated Grinch, but it's not bad.
Starting point is 01:38:11 Oh, my gosh. All right. Sales pitch early. Let's do reviews of the week real quick. I'm excited about this review because I forgot to mention this person and their friends in the podcast because there were no notes. What's up, y'all? I'm a college this review because I forgot to mention this person and their friends in the podcast because there were no notes. What's up, y'all? I'm a college student in Iowa.
Starting point is 01:38:28 I've been a ghost hunter for about eight months and have been hooked since day one. There's just something about laughing with you guys every week that makes me keep coming back for more. And I absolutely love it. This past summer, I was doing overseas ministry in South Asia for seven weeks. And on our rest days, I would pretty much always listen to an episode of Ghostrunners and laugh until I forgot about whatever small thing was inconveniencing me that day. Y'all were seriously such a blessing to me and even some other members on my team that I told about the pod. I actually just got back from Jake's Sunday night show in Des Moines and had a blast listening to him and Trey and being able to chat with Jake and Rachel after the show.
Starting point is 01:39:01 The ghosty community is just something else. Anywho, super proud and pumped at what you guys have done and will continue to do with your lives, cheering you on always. Yeah, I forgot without the notes, but I had so much fun talking to the crew of Ghosties. You know who you are. Iowa State students, I think primarily. We asked if they knew Tim. Rikki-tikki-timbo. They don't know Timbo. Tiny Tim?
Starting point is 01:39:19 Tiny Tim. Go clones. Either way, they were awesome. Just so easy to talk to and so supportive and so fun. So shout out the Iowa state ghosties, Tim included. Oh, we also got to see and hang out with this weekend.
Starting point is 01:39:33 Fun. Tim had never seen me perform before. That's the first time he got to see it. Awesome. He loved it. I'm sure. Who could, who would it,
Starting point is 01:39:40 who would not? My five-star review is coming from Ryan Pappenthus. Anybody? Saren Flappel. Yeah. Instant ghosty convert, five stars. My best friend had been trying to get me to listen to this podcast for quite a while. I'm not typically a podcast guy, in quotation marks.
Starting point is 01:39:59 But I have it a shot. I think it's I have it a shot. But I have it a shot. I heaved my shot. I hoved. It would behoove me. Okay. Hoved it a shot, but I have it a shot. I heaved my shot. I hoved. It would behoove me. Okay. Hove it a shot. I hoved a shot when school started in August.
