Starting point is 00:00:00 Welcome to another Wednesday episode. Brad just got done falling over. He just, I was like, hey, it's a Wednesday episode. You know, Main Street Roasters is going to sponsor us. Let's get the, like the coffee grounds. Let's get them up in the shot. And Brad leaned over. I did the classic, like, yeah, lean over with the rolling chair and just biff it all over the floor. I'm shocked you couldn't feel like in the chair, like, Ooh, I'm kind of, I'm borderline about to fall over.
Starting point is 00:00:28 No, no, no. Maybe I shouldn't put more weight on. A million percent. I felt that a million percent. I did. Okay. So on Monday's episode, if you go back and watch that, I was holding a football and I, at one point I lost the football and I leaned over to get the football and I thought, Ooh,
Starting point is 00:00:40 I think I'm about 85% of the way towards falling over right now. And, but this time I didn't really think about it as much. You needed those grounds. You need the beans. We're buzzing for beans, baby. You're grounding for grounds. Oh, very good. Have you heard about the phenomenon grounding?
Starting point is 00:00:56 Yeah, I think I heard about it from Rachel's dad. Oh, really? I don't know if he was pro grounding or not. Catherine's a grounder. Yeah. She takes them. She's a shortstop. Yeah, good.
Starting point is 00:01:05 Quick little double play. What does she feel about it I think she just thinks it's good for you to be outside and like have like have your feet exposed to the ground I don't really understand oh I thought grounding was literally like laying down on the ground like being on the ground well maybe that helps I mean it's probably all part of it I don't there's probably like way deeper versions of it i think there's like some people that think it's like really good for your health of like you get the nutrients from the earth like avatar it's all connected i think katherine's more just like hey it's good to be outside it's good to be barefoot it's good to get calluses and there's some people that i think are like way more like uh uh treehouse she's she's she's a grounder for sure it seems like a thing that would be like...
Starting point is 00:01:46 Miranda. Miranda is her name, by the way. Yes, thank you. It seems like a thing that... I know you, Miranda. Best friends. Like planking or owling. It seems like grounding would be like a trend or whatever.
Starting point is 00:01:56 Like, oh, he's grounding. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Which is when you fall out of your roller chair. Dude, I have blood on my hand. I have blood on my freaking hand. Put some audio in there from this thing, and we need to put the video on Patreon right now. Great. Video's on Patreon right now.
Starting point is 00:02:09 Audio right now, and... Over. Uh-oh. Ooh, I think this tight beat means that it's going down with some random thoughts in white. So this past week was Valentine's Day for Americans. I don't know if it's worldwide. Well, St. Valentine, that means he's Catholic, which is probably Italian. Yeah, exactly. It's probably we stole it from the Italians.
Starting point is 00:03:02 Thank you for spaghetti and for valentine's day but uh well one of the things that at first that happened was rachel told me she was like hey we're not gonna like do much tomorrow right and i feel like she was trying to be like hey let's just have like a chill night i was like no that's great with me she's like like not even like gifts like that's cool with you if we don't do any gifts and i was like sure if that's yeah that's who you want that's great um the fact that she's asking the day before means that even if she does get you a gift it's not going to be an amazing gift you know what i mean like at that point you're like yeah i'll save my gift that i was going to give you for okay better yeah some other gift and so yeah i was like yeah that's great
Starting point is 00:03:38 a couple hours go by later and uh i was like i forgot to ask how was like uh how was your afternoon what'd you do in between like this and this? She's like, oh, I actually went to Target for a little bit. I was like, oh fun, what'd you get? She's like, I got a couple of gifts for you. I was like, you couldn't just like, just lie, just say anything.
Starting point is 00:03:57 I, you could have said, I would not have asked, just say shampoo. And I'm like, cool. There'd be zero follow up questions. And she just couldn't lie. And so I was like, I knew it it i knew you were still getting me something and so even after she like purposely she brought it up she sabotaged you though yeah like she did like she was like no gifts right and i was like okay yeah great yeah i'll respect you in that to find out she'd
Starting point is 00:04:19 already went and got me stuff yeah earlier that day and well i'm a man of my word and also it was 10 p.m the night for valentine's day so i was like oh and there's no and you guys celebrated like the very first thing in the morning right we do all our holidays all right yeah at midnight yeah that's what we celebrate and so i was just like you know what would even mean more to rachel than like trying to throw together like some gift or whatever is if i like did something for like an act of service for her yeah i saw this on your Instagram. I had a very full Tuesday. We did correct opinions.
Starting point is 00:04:48 We did mood swing stuff. You and I got together in the afternoon and then I went and I did top golf with the gas boys straight from there back home. I wanted to make Rachel dinner. You make you're known for your cooking. That's right. Yeah. In a lot of ways.
Starting point is 00:05:04 And I wanted it was kind of an inside joke because I told Rachel about this meal for a long time. you make it you're you're known for your cooking that's right yeah in a lot of ways and i wanted it was kind of an inside joke because i told rachel about this meal for a long time and she was like okay i will try it if you make it for me but i'm not excited and i kept talking like oh okay the day is gonna come when we're gonna make this meal because like my mom made it for us and i loved it made it for myself in college i don't know what its name is i've been calling it like poverty pizza like poor person pizza or something yeah because pizza is really expensive that's the thing if you hey like want to have pizza 99 cent totinos want to have pizza but it's too expensive i got you covered so english muffins canned cheese whiz goes on top and then uh like
Starting point is 00:05:42 squeezable pizza sauce that does it have to be squeezable? The kind that we get is Cantadena. What do you mean by squeezable? Is like a ketchup bottle squeezable? Yeah. Yeah. It's like a ketchup bottle. Nice.
Starting point is 00:05:53 Just room temp, you know, throw it on there and then put it in the oven. And we used to put pepperonis on it. Nowadays, I'm not putting pepperonis on it. Okay. And so. Because that would be gross. Red meat. I know. Okay. And so maybe a little Parmesan cheese though. I did some of that. nowadays i'm not putting pepperonis on it okay and so because that would be gross red meat i know
Starting point is 00:06:05 okay and so maybe a little parmesan cheese though i did some of that and so anyway i made them and rachel was nice enough to try one she was very very very not excited she was very happy you know i think i was trying to make her dinner right she's like you tried so many things for me i will try this and she said i think her quote was it's all sauce is what she had to say and did not enjoy it and so i door dashed her chipotle she was already in some cozy clothes like don't get out the day of love sweetie so i think if anything you just set yourself up to be a hero of like hey i'm so selfless that even though you know you're trying this thing for me and you don't like it like okay i'll buy you chipotle okay you know set the bar real low yeah we're like five valentine's days from now you know even over to do something somewhat nice like well it's way better than
Starting point is 00:06:53 you know the english muffin pizza you make spaghetti with with squeezable sauce you're fine yeah so yeah she did not enjoy it's all sauce that is that is the thing that i kind of have to hang up on with this, with this concoction of yours. Cause I like pizza. And I think I've made like French bread with like pizza sauce and cheese and stuff on it, but it's always like regular cheese.
Starting point is 00:07:14 Cause it's gotta have something to solidify. Cause how is that? Does it, does it solidify or is it still pretty liquidy once it comes out? Um, I would say it's somewhat liquidy. I mean, the sauce is on top for one right but either
Starting point is 00:07:26 way i mean the thing is it's not like yeah i liked this when i was a kid i'm not sure about now i had six of those things i thought they were awesome i just kept eating them and while i was like getting rachel dinner and yeah it was awesome so i loved it if anyone else has ever had anything like it let us know oh yeah i'm sure there's there's got to be all sorts of like random family concoction things like that like yeah yeah all these like throwing hot dogs and random things that you've never thought to do with them you know hot dogs and beans and salad or something it's like believe me it sounds weird but it works try it once yeah so that was our valentine's day it was fun super cute and i don't know if she'll ever try anything I offer her again. I might've ruined it, but Oh, well, it was fun. I'll tell you this. You did a better job
Starting point is 00:08:09 on Valentine's day than I did. What'd you do? Literally nothing. Yeah. Cause that's the only thing that could have been worse than the beanie weenies or whatever you guys. I mean, that was kind of the video we made, right? Video, you know, it was like Valentine's day, you know, like dating versus married basically. Yeah. We had thoughts and plans to do oh no it's not we did do something we did the heart-shaped pizza but we did as a family and that was fine it actually had he loved it how do you really yeah so maybe it's more of a kid thing than it is like an adult thing to get the heart-shaped pizza like do it for your kids because had he had more pizza than she's ever had before i think i've joked about it before like friday night pizza movie
Starting point is 00:08:43 night like she never ate the pizza we have to like stop the movie and be like, you need to eat your pizza. Cause she would just watch the movie. I just want to eat my, no, well, no specifically pizza. Like she's like, I'll, I'll just eat my bell peppers. And I'm like, you got to have some pizza or something along with the bell pepper. Like what parent has to say that to their kids. So, um, and then, yeah, I just wasn't, like I said, like I've just been feeling weird that whole past week. And so just didn't feel great. And so I went in my room and watched the KU Oklahoma State game and then fell asleep. So that was our, that was our night.
Starting point is 00:09:14 Cute little Valentine's. I know. I came in and gave Catherine a kiss on the forehead and said, I love you. Good night. Love you. I got the cramps. Good night. I'm cramping.
Starting point is 00:09:21 Good night. Cramping. I need some grounding. Good night. Good night. Yeah, exactly. night i'm cramping good night cramping i need some grounding good night yeah exactly so uh but yeah that's i i understand what you're saying i think you somewhat learned all you gotta do is try you know i did try it's a it's a it's just the principle of it like hey jake made me dinner
Starting point is 00:09:38 was it edible yes beyond that edible for one of us. No problem. Yeah. It was a fun memory. Fun memory. It's a Wednesday episode. Should we do our wins of the week? Let's do Wednesday wins. Wednesday wins. Wednesday wins of the week.
Starting point is 00:09:55 You go ahead. Of the week. My win of the week is that I found a place near my house that makes acai bowls. Didn't know I had one. Wait. Then I discovered Fuel Cafe. Oh, you're near your... Found a place near my house that makes acai bowls. Didn't know I had one. Wait. Then I discovered Fuel Cafe. Oh, near your, when you say your house, I get confused.
Starting point is 00:10:11 I like the house. Because earlier you said I went home to have dinner with Rachel. Yeah. Home is where the fiance is. Home is where the titles are. And I got two of them. There you go. But yeah, so Fuel Cafe, just big win.
Starting point is 00:10:28 I've been just pounding it, pounding the acai, really good granola. And yeah, just been a little joy. Yeah. Probably twice a week that near my house I can go. Does it compare pretty similarly to nectar? Yeah, it's pretty good. Yeah. Pretty similar.
Starting point is 00:10:41 One thing they do on accident, but without fail every time, is there's always like a chunk that was supposed to be blended up. It didn't quite get blended up. There's like a weird like banana looking chunk in there. So that happens every time is there's always like a chunk that was supposed to be blended up it didn't quite get blended up there's like a weird like banana looking chunk in there so that happens every time it's like a marble size yeah every time like five for five so far there's always like a chunk in there it's kind of like a game like you know hide hide the thing in the cake it's like yeah hide the chunk in the smoothie cracker jack uh what kind of cups or bowls or whatever they got for this thing because i think that makes a difference to me in the experience like the nectar bowl itself is a nice bowl.
Starting point is 00:11:06 See, I don't think so because nectar is not insulated. Your left hand gets freezing eating an actual bowl. If you don't have a table. Yeah, you're right. I've always had a table. My hand gets very cold. My table guy. So there's a little more insulated.
Starting point is 00:11:15 Like where you're gonna find a foam cup from a gas station. We talking like tall foam or pretty wide? It's not that big. Okay. Because what happens is they got a weird way of going into so much when you order you walk in and say hey what can i get for you you say i'll say their fuel cafe so they say hey what can i get you to fuel up hey can i gas you up today baby take a little acai in your system huh baby hey baby try to get some fuel in that in that system
Starting point is 00:11:43 yeah rev your engine a little unleaded gas up, huh? That's what I like about it. Yeah. No, but as soon as you walk in, they say, what do you want?
Starting point is 00:11:50 You say Acai Bowl. And then the person just turns around and starts making you an Acai Bowl. They don't want to know any like specifications yet. So you don't do that till afterwards. Okay. So the Acai base is the same every time. Yes. Okay.
Starting point is 00:12:03 And then it's usually what I try to do. Cause it's weird. Cause like I, then I pay and then afterwards, then they're like, all right, and what do you want on top? And it's like,
Starting point is 00:12:11 well, I want extra granola. But then I was like, should I be charged for that? You already charged me. It seems like a weird order of operations. Oh, I think you test it until,
Starting point is 00:12:19 until they say something. I think you're like, and after they put everything on there, like, and then can I get more acai smoothie on top? Like, like essentially try to go double bowl on it and see how, see how far you can get before they, they, cause they're playing chicken at this point, right? They're like, Hey, you already paid. So they, they're kind of preying on you, P-R-E-Y, preying on you to not, you know, add very much stuff. Cause you're kind of feel bad. Like, well, I don't,
Starting point is 00:12:41 I can't. Blueberries are expensive these days. Like it's a super food. They're out of season. You know, like just a few blueberries, I guess, and some strawberries. Cause I would love to load it up. Load up the blueberries. Yeah. To get to the very top and then a little bit higher. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:12:55 You know, so that way when you get it, you can just scoop a few. Yeah. Gas me up. Anyway, that's my win of the week. I've been loving that place. Yeah, cool. I've seen that place before.
Starting point is 00:13:04 I just didn't know that that's what it was. I've been loving that place. Yeah, cool. I've seen that place before. I just didn't know that that's what it was. I love acai bowls. I thought it was a coffee shop. Does it have coffee? Not even a little bit. I don't know. They kind of do like meal planning and like meal kits type stuff.
Starting point is 00:13:15 Like they got big fridges on the left when you walk in and, you know, it just got, you know, pre-made salmon and chicken and broccoli and stuff like that. So it's kind of a weird smell when you walk in. Yeah. That's a lot of different things that I don't want to smell very much. But the acai is great. Get in and out, eat in your car. If you're listening to this Fuel Cafe, first of all, you're welcome. Second of all, you need to do a little better marketing because I had no idea any of this stuff was around. And Jake lived right there. I lived there for a year and a half. I had no idea. And you had been looking for places. I love acai. Yeah. So I see more of my future. Acai.
Starting point is 00:13:49 My win of the week is my daughter, Hattie knows every single book of the new Testament in order. Whoa. And it's so cool. And it's like a thing in a Juana, you know, they, they have to memorize things like this.
Starting point is 00:14:03 And so I think most kindergartners in her class know this now, but you know, they, they give you, you're supposed to learn them incrementally like last month. And so like the first time you're supposed to learn Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts, Roman, you know, and then like all of a sudden it was like, she needs to know all of them. And she wasn't even close. And she gets like, Hattie and Bo are so different. Like if Hattie can't get it, she just like shuts down and like cries and like no more pizza. Whereas
Starting point is 00:14:25 Bo, like it's amazing. Like watching, watching Bo do a puzzle, he could do a puzzle all day. Like, and he could get it wrong over and over again. Yeah. And he just does not. And maybe that's going to happen, you know, when he turns three or four or whatever, maybe he'll develop more of that anger towards that stuff. But right now he's just like, he'll just continue to be persistent and not be upset about it. Whereas Hattie's just like, like she doesn't, she kept saying Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Galatians instead of Galatians with a C. And I would tell her like, you know, it's not it. And she would get so upset.
Starting point is 00:14:56 And so I'm like, there's no way, like she's not going to be able to do this. And then the other day, like, I mean, it's probably a testament to Catherine because I didn't even know she was close. All of a sudden, Catherine's like, hey, watch this. And she's did them all. It was amazing. Pretty cool. And the other cool thing was that Bo knows like half of them now, just by watching his
Starting point is 00:15:12 sister. How does Bo say them? Oh, man. Let me think. Or what does Bo get wrong when he gets it wrong? Yeah, I'm trying to think because because along with this, he's also really obsessed. I'm going to not answer that, but I'm going to answer this other thing that he says funny things with. There's a song that they listen to that has all the presidents of the United States in order.
Starting point is 00:15:31 And it's to the theme of America the Beautiful. So it's like, oh, beautiful for a spacious sky. Oh, Washington. So it's like George Washington, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison. And then he'll know a few after that. He'll go, James Monroe, John Quincy, AIDS, yams. It's like we already had an Adams. And then he goes, Andrew Jackson, Martin Band, Bjorn Binn.
Starting point is 00:16:03 That's as far as he gets. But he'll start bouncing around he's bobbing george washington john adam and so anyway he's just so cute with that so yeah he's he's he's just such a leech of that stuff so anyway that's my win of the week is is really good at yeah knowing all of the new. And can I admit something as a Christian man who I hope my family looks up to? I don't know the Old Testament books of the Bible all the way through.
Starting point is 00:16:32 I could not recite them for you all. No, I mean, sometimes I'll even get kind of like, I'll look at something like, wait, is that even a book, the Old Testament? You know, like you'll see like a wording, like, I don't know if it's a character or a book. I honestly don't know. Just being real.
Starting point is 00:16:44 Yeah. Just like, ah, man, where's Joel? I don't know if it's a character or a book i honestly don't know just being real yeah just like ah man where's joel i don't know where he's where he goes in there you know i don't know so and catherine of course is like like she grew up doing a wanna and so she memorized and so she's like you don't know that really you know she's like so knowledgeable with that stuff so just being real guys i'm not perfect it's being real i'm not perfect as indicated by my cut on my hand from earlier in this episode so he's real guys so real um should we get into uh this segment should we bring it back we're bringing it back baby it was funny if someone had a facebook group recently requested
Starting point is 00:17:22 this i was like this is already on the schedule baby we were already planning on doing it this wednesday it's a wednesday so let's do the wins it is oh no no it's blanks of the week blanks of the week that's right we haven't done this in a while and if you're new here uh it's super complicated they probably won't understand let's just let's just see if they can get it okay i don't even know if it's worth explaining the origin of how we figured out the name in the Latin roots. Let's just get into it. Hopefully they can figure it out along the way. Um, let's do compliment of the week. Brad, what is your compliment of the week? My compliment of the week is actually coming from a comment on our most recent Jean shorts
Starting point is 00:18:03 comedy video about the chiefs parade uh mckayde williamson who is a super fan or top fan of ellis custom creations on facebook congrats yeah said in quotation marks brad has endless energy for a chubby guy and if you know which first of all is true well not always true because i get tired but mostly true but the the quote that they were deriving from is andy reed because Andy Reid was asked during Super Bowl. That's right. Like, do you drink coffee? Do you drink coffee?
Starting point is 00:18:30 How you do this? He's like, no, I just kind of get up and I'm just ready to go in the mornings. He's like, I just have it. I have endless energy for a chubby guy. That's right. So on one hand, people could read that and be like, that's kind of a rude, you know, McKay. What the heck? But really.
Starting point is 00:18:43 Perfect. Yeah. Being compared to Andy Reid. I'll take it all day the coach the chiefs during a chief super bowl parade video well done amazing so good job mckay i thought what a compliment that is good yeah that's a good one i don't remember who left mine because i think there might have been multiple compliments okay and there are also comments this uh past week on the ghost runners facebook page someone posted a screenshot of me wearing rachel's shirt that we talked about and the ass the girl said yeah you look yoked dude and someone yeah like i forgot what we were
Starting point is 00:19:13 talking in the episode but you know either way like i turned to the camera just like flexed really quickly someone screenshot it posted people in the comments are talking and they said is this photo edited no i, I didn't see that. Compliment of the week. They think that some random fan screenshot of it, but in the process, like beefed up my arms. There's no way he's that strong. Like, you see how huge his arms are?
Starting point is 00:19:35 In that women's shirt? Either way, that was definitely the compliment of the week. The fact that someone thought my arms were edited. They did look huge. Thank you. Yeah. Honestly, I'd wear that shirt more often and I'd flex like that maybe i will like just walk around gas me up yeah that was fuel my cafe yeah fuel the cafe yeah so great compliment yeah that was awesome compliment you guys keep doing that in the facebook group um for me please uh okay
Starting point is 00:20:03 next brad what is your video of the week video of the week i don't know if we've ever done video of the week before i don't know um on one hand i'm like i could just go chief stuff for all this stuff yeah i think i'm gonna for some of these i was like uh honorable mention is uh from the week before but i it was kind of my video of the week i guess this week uh that kid interviewing Josh Jacobs at the Pro Bowl. You see that little kid? Oh, I didn't see this. Oh, it's so cute.
Starting point is 00:20:30 It's this kid. He is so professional, so good. Like this kid's going to be a professional, you know, sports writer someday or something or interviewer. And but he also was like, and by the way, I just want to say I'm praying for your dad. You know, like basically almost made Josh Jacobs start crying and all this stuff. I don't know exactly what the complications with his dad are, but anyway, that's a really cool video. This guy's name is Jeremiah.
Starting point is 00:20:52 Look up Jeremiah, Josh Jacobs, if you want to watch this interview. But my video of the week is coming from the rally after the parade, Patrick or Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelsey. He basically was trying to get like call and response from the crowd. And, you know, for a while he was like, let me hear you say, yeah, yeah. And then he goes, let me say, and everyone goes, and then he goes, no, no, no, no. And they probably went back and forth, like, you know, saying different things and repeating that back like five times. And I, like, I think it's from a masterpiece song I
Starting point is 00:21:30 learned, but I didn't know that, you know, all I knew all was all these like, you know, 45 year old women in Kansas city going, uh, and so of course Scott is already, you know, latching onto it. You know, he sent me a voice memo the other day. He's like, all right then. All right now. So that's, that's, is, it was just another iconic video from Travis Kelsey after the chiefs won the Superbowl. So it's my video. Good vid. Good vid. Yeah. Okay. I don't know if it's too hard for Justin to get a sound clip of that and put it in, but if it's not, Justin, do your thing.
Starting point is 00:22:09 And if so? No problem. No, no, no, no problem. Ugh! Na, na, na, na! Nah. Okay. My video of the week, this is going to be very strange.
Starting point is 00:22:24 I feel like this is, I almost feel like this is i almost feel like this is very brad ellis of me i feel like you've done stuff like this before where you will get like weirdly fixated or like infatuated with something that is like not that weird and not that abnormal but like you can't help but like okay be drawn to something interesting this is happening to me in my own life okay and what it is it's an ad that i keep getting uh occasionally on instagram and on facebook okay and it's just for like some like random just like mobile game like a clash of clans type game um and i keep seeing the same ad over and over and i just i stop and watch it every time do you like you let it
Starting point is 00:22:57 extend past like the skippable part so this is well you can't skip like an instagram or like a oh instagram instagram sorry sorry like a facebook head yeah this is just like an in feed like you're scrolling you stop on it i at least like watch a little bit of it every time there's something just so i don't know something about it that i just watch every time so it's uh his name is john ross bowie okay i think he played a character on the big bang theory okay um i know this because i've looked at my research afterwards after i looked him up yeah that he well i don't recognize him but i oh i recognize this guy from the big bang i think and so anyway i'll play the ad and then we'll we'll break it down okay i don't really
Starting point is 00:23:35 have anything planned for this i'll just kind of see what happens hey guys it's john ross bowie now i may have played a nerd on a very popular TV show but it's important that you understand that in real life I'm also a bit of a nerd. Starting point is 00:24:22 something about it i think the first thing that caught my eye the very first time is that there's two seconds of pause when it starts. So you scroll on this, you stop and he's just like licking his lips like, hey guys. And I was like, if you're this company, edit that out. Why would you not edit out the first two seconds? So that like drew me in. And then it's just all these little details. He has a slight lisp.
Starting point is 00:24:44 Okay. Amazing. Yeah. His hair. I know you can't see the video, but he looks like a maniac in this thing. Okay. and then it's just all these little details he has a slight lisp okay amazing yeah his hair i know you can't see the video but he looks like a maniac in this thing okay um another aspect of this just like how passionately he's talking about no ads to me is so funny no ads you heard me no ads thank god so are you yeah so you, are you like fascinated in like a, this is so bad kind of way? I don't know. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:25:09 I feel, I could feel the tension. Like a little bit of you is like, I don't know if this is bad. I think I'm fascinated by like this big time actor promoting this stupid mobile game so passionately, but in a way that like, isn't that like well done. It's like a shot on, on his phone.
Starting point is 00:25:24 Like this is a front facing camera. Is this a cameo you think? So that's what's crazy is I, I assume like maybe this is a cameo like this, like they just told this guy exactly what to say. And he just did it for a cameo, which is a great move. You're a company. And so when I clicked to save this, I got to see the file name of the original file name. And it says RM underscore cameo underscore john ross bowie underscore like all this other stuff and so they just paid this guy to do a cameo and then he was just like sure I'll just promote this thing I don't even know what it is I'll just promote it with my face um interesting because you can you can like pay more or you can
Starting point is 00:26:02 have a different option on cameo can't you for like a business yeah which we don't even do that but so i wonder what his business fee is but wow um and so since i think because i've consumed so many ads from royal match now i'm getting more of them so they've paid other actors to do royal match type cameo things okay and all there's it's a it's the same thing too where they're like like... It's the same script? Yeah, it's a similar script where they're like, you do not need Wi-Fi. And let me tell you this, no ads. You do not need ads. And then you check the comments on either of this. They're like, I just went to download it
Starting point is 00:26:35 and it says in-app purchases and there's definitely ads all over it. So I don't know why they keep saying this. That doesn't really matter to me as much, but it just so... You really got another rabbit hole for a little match. It encapsulates me, dude. Yeah, it's as much but it's just so it just encapsulates me dude yeah it's just like it's just so unique and i can't explain it but it is my video of the week john ross bowie saying no ad you heard me no ad so did you download it no no no i never i
Starting point is 00:27:01 didn't get that far like i truly have no interest in the game i'm just fascinated by the delivery and the content itself and just this guy just like yeah maybe it's the visuals dude maybe you got to see his hair and he just looks like well i'm sure now we're talking about it my phone's gonna hear that good royal match royal match royal match you guys also see this yeah i probably only see like i don't know i i don't get very many maybe once in a blue moon do i ever get like a game ad on my stuff yeah but maybe i will know i don't know. I don't get very many, maybe once in a blue moon, do I ever get like a game ad on my stuff? Yeah. But maybe I will know. I don't know. I hope, I hope someone out there gets the ad. I hope someone else can help put into words why this video is so interesting to me because it's just so funny. Well, I, this is not the same thing, but you know me and how I feel
Starting point is 00:27:39 about like low quality picture or videos, videos and stuff. Maybe there's something to it. So then yeah, just a nice seven 20 P poor lighting video, which stuff maybe there's something to it so then what yeah just a nice 720p poor lighting video it just drew me in something about it it's like these people yeah what are these people doing and then all of a sudden you're like maybe i should watch this some more wild dude you heard me is that what he said you heard me no ads No ads. I don't know, dude. It's just so funny to me. No ads. Thank God.
Starting point is 00:28:09 Just so passionate. Wow. Good for him. Okay. I could do that. I think I have it memorized. It's so great. Let's try.
Starting point is 00:28:16 You may have seen me. Justin, put the video up on the screen and let's try to do it. Hey, guys. It's Don Ross Bowie. And you might have seen me play a nerd on a very popular TV show, but you, it's important to know, in real life I'm also a bit of a nerd.
Starting point is 00:28:36 Just the way he delivers that, dude. Like he thinks that line's just hilarious. Like, I'm a nerd on TV, but in real life, I'm also kind of a nerd. It's great. Whatever. We can move on. Um, Brad, what is your poultry of the week? My poultry, I have multiple things I wrote down. Uh, I, I mentioned the swooping of the hair haircut. Uh, that is kind of messing with me having to swoop the other way. Um, but my poultry of the week, I think is just literally from poultry. Uh, on Monday we got,
Starting point is 00:29:05 yeah, we got Chick-fil-A and we were eating it for lunch and I never do this, but I multiple, I had multiple bites of the spicy chicken sandwich. I always get the spice chicken with pepper jack cheese, spice chicken sandwich, pepper cheese. And I was like, dude, this is like the third bite in a row where something just tastes like some, some didn't taste weird, but it had a weird crunchy. Something was wrong with it. Eat a couple more bites and see if it's better. I felt like a, you know, a tool being like, Hey, I've no, I've eaten half this, but can I get a different sandwich? But I did, I went up to him and said, can I please have a different one? And ever since then I've been having those cramps, those stomach cramp things.
Starting point is 00:29:40 And that's not like I have had food poisoning in the sense of like, I need to, you know, get sick or anything. I just, I've had enough. Some, something went wrong. And I think it was, I can trace it back to that kid, that chicken. Dang. Either that or the copious amounts of food that I ate at the Superbowl the night before. But. Or what about the Superbowl parade where you had like three Red Bulls on an empty stomach? Felt fine. Felt fine about that. That was totally fine. Yeah. I i had pepper jack burrito for that oh that's right you didn't thank you very much so you're fine yeah it's fine intermittent fasting how's that going uh it's been okay i yeah it's hard to do i didn't do it yesterday obviously or no not two days ago the one that you called me out on in front of 50 000 people
Starting point is 00:30:20 um but most of the time i've done pretty well with it and then this morning like i've just been off lately and so katherine gave me a perfect bar this morning she's like have a perfect bar okay so so i said um but yeah for the most part it's been pretty good 11 to 7 is kind of my window and it's funny like often when we'll be at summer moon or something i'll drink coffee as my first thing but i'll put like a little creamer in or something. And caffeine with nothing else is, it'll buzz you. It'll get you there. Speaking of buzzing.
Starting point is 00:30:50 Speaking of buzzing for some beans. Beans. Hi. Hi guys. I'm John Ross Bowie. I want to talk to you today about a coffee company. It's called. Made,
Starting point is 00:31:01 made three roasters. Made three roasters. And get this. This is an ad. That's right. No. Yeah. Shout out made Street Roasters. Main Street Roasters. And get this. This is an ad. That's right. No, yeah. Shout out Main Street Roasters. They're sponsoring us again.
Starting point is 00:31:11 Heck yeah. Again. Amazing. If you guys want to support a local Midwest business, it's family oriented. You know, people who roast their own beans. They got great customer service. Check out MainStreetRoasters.com. And you're probably thinking, Jake, like, well, I'm more of a Keurig guy, so I'm just going to go get K-Cups from the
Starting point is 00:31:30 store because MainStreetRoasters doesn't have Keurig cups, right? Wrong! Tell them what your mom said. I should actually pull up that. Basically, my mom said, I'm so excited to drink MainStreetRoasters, and I didn't realize they had K-Cups. Holy cow. Everyone needs to know they have K-Cups because there's Keurig drinkers out there that don't know they have K-Cups. And so I'm letting you know Main Street Roasters has K-Cups. Hey, Main Street Roasters got K-Cups. Yeah. My mom was pumped. She got a blend called, I believe Jamaican Me Crazy is the one that she got. Jamaican Me Use K-Cups. Jamaican Me Want Some Main Street Roasters. Yeah. And it's not full price, which you'd probably expect at this point well i would be
Starting point is 00:32:07 willing to pay full price that's it you do not have to you don't have to i might play a nerd on a very popular tv show but i will not ask you to pay full price it is uh 10 off uh any purchase with code grk cup that's probably confusing to say why don't i just clarify grkc that's probably confusing to say. Why don't I just clarify? GRKC. That's your promo code. The K stands for K cup. And then eventually the K will lead you to a K cup. So yeah, 10% off your purchases with Main Street Roasters. And I do want to say one more thing,
Starting point is 00:32:33 Jake, do you mind if I say it? Go ahead. They do provide options for larger businesses, churches, things like that, where they can wholesale. They can,
Starting point is 00:32:43 you know, be a coffee provider and actually private label, even your own company. So if you have a company and you want like, Hey, we want a Ellis customer creations, coffee, Main Street Roasters can make that for you. That's kind of a fun offer. Fun offer. So I think no matter what, they, they have something for you, whether it's big, small K cup, you know, you know, Venti, they'll do it for you. All right. Check them out. MainStreetRoasters.com. Visit amex.ca slash business platinum. Okay, I think it's now time for my poultry of the week. Yes. This came, this was a realization I did while I was editing the Chiefs Parade video. I was getting a lot of laundry knocked out and my poultry is the realization that with laundry, a task that I kind of enjoy doing as far as like, you know, tasks around the house go, but with laundry, you are never capable of fully being done with laundry unless you do it naked. Cause that was my thing. Like I've been so behind on laundry for weeks and weeks. We've
Starting point is 00:34:35 been so busy, so busy. And I'm finally like, all right, I'm at home for like the next 18 hours. I'm going to get so much laundry done. But guess what? I was still wearing clothes. So none of, even though all my clothes went through the washer and the dryer and I hung them up, not every piece of clothing was clean and it bothered me. Really? You can mow the whole lawn. You can take out all the trash, but you can never do all the laundry. Yeah. But like, okay, let's go back to that. You mow the whole lawn, but the grass is starting to grow after you cut it. Well, that's the thing. I'm always going to be wearing new clothes clothes but you can never be like completely done like you get done mowing the lawn and nothing has happened the grass doesn't like shoot up behind you where you mow okay so
Starting point is 00:35:12 what you should do is do multiple loads and then when you're done when you do the let's say let's say you got three loads going uh you can oh yeah i see what you're saying yeah even though you haven't said it yet i see what you're saying you see. Even though you haven't said it yet, I see what you're saying. You see where I'm going? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. But you didn't see this wrinkle that I was going to throw in. Oh no. Wrinkles please. I'm doing laundry. Yes. A wrinkle free.
Starting point is 00:35:30 Um, but as the load that's going to get dry is drying, you go take a shower. So then you are clean to then like very clean. Yeah. So then you put it on and you do it, make sure you do it the right time of day and then you sleep naked and you'll be fine the next morning every single thing is relatively clean
Starting point is 00:35:48 oh i mean that's that that's the that's the mowing of the lawn comparison where it's like yeah technically it's not completely clean because i still wore it for a second and whatever but really basically clean did i explain those very well that's a good my head i knew it all i wasn't expecting you to fall asleep though i was expecting like hey morning laundry do a load yeah while the second load goes in you throw your clothes you have been wearing in it go take a shower you come out put on a clean clothes and then go about your day well why is that more fresh or less frustrating than the other thing you were talking about? Because they were 100% clean. Every piece of clothing at one point was clean.
Starting point is 00:36:29 Gotcha, gotcha, gotcha. Whereas the way I was doing laundry, the clothes I was wearing, I'd been wearing them all day. They were not clean. They had not gone through. Okay. Solution. Good. All right.
Starting point is 00:36:38 Poultry turned feast. Poultry. Poor poultry turned cooked. Brad, what is your inspiration of the week? Inspiration of the week. Yeah. Jake was like, okay, I have inspiration video. And I was like, okay, I can figure those out.
Starting point is 00:36:55 My inspiration. Well, two, once again, first, first one was Patrick Mahomes. Just seeming like he was going to have his ankle fall off. And then all of a sudden just wins the Superbowl. So inspiration number one. Inspiration number two is my pastor. He talked about in his sermon this past Sunday, delayed obedience is disobedience.
Starting point is 00:37:15 And I had to think about that for a little bit. And not only did I think about that in my own life, but then I also thought about it as a dad and how sometimes with kids, I'm like delayed obedience, disobedience, like, oh yeah, you did it, but it took me five times to ask you and that's okay. But in reality, I'm like, I need to teach these kids and myself to be better at quickly obeying the first time. So that is my inspiration of the week is delayed obedience, disobedience slash win a Superbowl on a bum ankle. That's good. Quick to listen, quick to obey. Yes. Good. Yes, yes, yes to listen, quick to obey. Yes.
Starting point is 00:37:45 Good. Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes. My inspiration, we already talked about on Monday's episode, but just another shout out to him is Brian Buffini. Just a Brian bleeding Buffini. Brian bleeding Buffini. Yeah, just a man,
Starting point is 00:37:56 just crazy how much he gave us. What if the, like what if Irish people are like really like bothered by bleeding? It's like only they can say it. Or like it's like a decently like like bad word or something and we just have no idea brian bleeding buffini that man knows his bleeding stuff these christian guys just talking about all this stuff no idea obedience is
Starting point is 00:38:17 bleeding disobedience right uh-huh yeah yeah it's bleeding bad for you so yeah just another shout out to him if anyone else wants to like learn more about business or you. So yeah, just another shout out to him. If anyone else wants to like learn more about business or, you know, anything like that, just check out his podcast is called it's a good life podcast. And it's awesome. I've been listening to it and genuinely enjoy it. I mean, just give a quick summary of like how he came to America and his quick story at the beginning of his life is crazy. Yeah. I guess I should get into it. He was an immigrant moved here from Ireland. I think it was 19 years old. And what's his story? He had $92 in his pocket. Yeah. It wasn't that I don't, something something's very i think he got all the way to like san diego area and he got i'm trying to remember he was a he was like a soccer like
Starting point is 00:38:56 national champion in ireland i think he was playing soccer in college is that right am i making this up brian buffini we only had one zoom call with him so it's hard to know exactly either way this story goes uh he was very good at soccer and he was hit uh what was it by he was in a motorcycle i believe motorcycle by a car okay gotcha yeah um right before you're supposed to we should get our story straight for what i understand it was like right before he's gonna go back to ireland to go play soccer or something like yeah yeah that sounds right yeah yeah and anyway so he has all these medical bills like he's just like shattering bones and you know you guys know what a car accident is very bad especially when they're going on a motorcycle and yeah just racking up like a quarter of a million half a million dollars in bills and he doesn't have any money he definitely doesn't have insurance he just
Starting point is 00:39:41 immigrated to amer, but through the right people. And I think the Lord's sovereignty and a lot of other stuff coming together, like he was able to kind of build this like real estate empire and he just gets people really well and he gets business really well. And he's turned like this awful, tragic, like, how do I get out of this situation as a 19 year old into like this you know very large business yeah he's doing awesome yeah it's it just an inspiration inspirational man for sure so good answer for inspiration shout out horse girl absolutely good family yeah very supportive of us as well so all right last one brad who is your babe of the week i don't know walk me through it um so it's this girl uh
Starting point is 00:40:27 she was actually on our podcast last wednesday garrett perkins wine no okay sorry keep going there i don't know yet no she was on our podcast she was sitting right next to me i was like gosh that girl is a cutie and not only was she cute with her looks j Jake? She was a good speaker. She could talk. She was a good speaker. That girl could speak. No, she's been in our podcast episode recently. She's been on, she did a jean shorts video with us, which I thought, that's amazing. I would have never expected her to do that or say yes to that. Yes, she did.
Starting point is 00:41:01 And then, you know, this week's been a wild week between the Chiefs winning the Super Bowl and then me feeling weird all week and then being like, psych, I don't feel weird. I'm going to go yell in front of all these people. And then I get right home from yelling and I'm like, actually, I do feel terrible. She's been very patient throughout the whole thing. Turns out she's my wife. Oh, wow. Catherine Ellis. She is the best in so many ways. She is wonderful. She is patient with me, understanding, supportive of this weird life that we have where we record our voices and videos and try to make money off of it. And she, she, she's never been like, are you sure you want to do that? Yeah. I think the woodworking stuff was going really well. Why don't you just make more tables?
Starting point is 00:41:44 And very supportive. Very supportive. Unwavering. Yes. All those things. So shout out to Catherine. I love you. I think the woodworking stuff was going really well. Why don't you just make more tables? And very supportive, very supportive, unwavering. Yes. All those things. So shout out to Catherine. I love you. Thank you for being my babe of the week.
Starting point is 00:41:51 Fun. Uh, that's kind of crazy. So my baby of the week was actually on our podcast recently as well. Wait, do we have, we should have reviewed. Do we have the same baby of the week?
Starting point is 00:41:59 Well, I don't know. Okay. I honestly haven't decided yet. Okay. So we'll see. Um, yeah,
Starting point is 00:42:04 gosh, I wouldn't have the same one that's gonna be very that's gonna be crazy well we can edit it what it was so she was also on the podcast recently she was in a jean shorts video recently and uh she actually brought me an acai bowl today yes turns out it's university of northern iowa number 14 center my fiance rachel coop whoa bleeding fiance yeah the bleeding fiance lad so uh yeah just shout out rachel especially more recently i feel like she's got so much on her plate she is substitute teaching several times a week she is naning several times a week her practicum has started, which is like this all day affair. She gets there at 830 and doesn't leave until 7 p.m. She's working alongside a full time counselor
Starting point is 00:42:52 and therapist, and she's helping that woman see her clients. And Rachel gets to kind of just watch and learn and, you know, jot stuff down and just experience that. So she's doing that. On top of that, she is wedding planning and she has not complained once about it has not gotten stressed or frustrated once and as much as we are pretty like hey go with the flow you know whatever there's still a lot to do you can't just go with the flow and not get anything done sure um and so yeah she's been a rock star especially like we're going to iowa as soon as we get a recording this we're driving to iowa today rachel is very good about um what do you mention on top of this she's still in her master's classes yeah so taking classes alongside a practicum yeah so Rachel's always been very good at like hey we got this
Starting point is 00:43:33 big thing coming up I'm gonna make sure I get all my homework done beforehand so Rachel wrote like I don't know how many papers I know at one point it was like 18 pages worth of like research papers like high level master's level papers uh this week so that she could just fully enjoy the weekend in Iowa. We got a wedding shower tomorrow. So shout out her for getting truly so much done in a week. Yeah. Awesome.
Starting point is 00:43:53 Could have been inspirational week. Turns out I had the buffines in there. Both. Baby and baby and inspiration. Both. Babe-spiration. So there's our blanks of the week. Thank you for all those who
Starting point is 00:44:06 have contributed to us answering those blanking before we get to our next event we're going to do a brand new segment uh i think we got to talk about just a few other like just little quick things so one let's talk about patreon real quick we're gonna have uh if you guys don't know eight minutes of chief's extended cut is on there right now. Yes. Brad falling over in a chair. Yes. We're going to, we're going to get that up. We're going to make sure that's up there.
Starting point is 00:44:30 It was staged just for Patreon. Guys, I didn't fall on accident. Brad has been blogging a lot and people are loving the blogs, whether they're like heartfelt and sentimental or they're like, hey, Bo's been saying this, try to guess what he's saying. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Bo's mad gab. That's really fun. Brad, tell them what else is coming today guess what he said. Yeah. Yeah. Bo's mad gab. That's really fun. Brad,
Starting point is 00:44:45 tell him what else is coming today. Later this afternoon. This afternoon. If you're listening to this, I would go to patreon.com slash ghost runners. Make sure you're subscribed because man, is there some hot goss? Some,
Starting point is 00:44:58 some tea has been spilled. Is that what they say? No. I just feel like, and maybe whatever. So many people have been been like what happened to girls gone mild what happened to girls gone mild looking forward to girls gone mild haven't seen them lately um i'm not gonna tell you here but i'm just gonna tell you i'll tell you exactly what happened to girls gone mild on patreon.com i feel like i don't respond to those comments just because it doesn't really feel like my place to answer that. But behind a paywall?
Starting point is 00:45:26 We'll tell you. Somehow it felt like my place behind the payroll. No, this is Brad wrote a little post about it and it's great. And yeah, whatever. Yeah. Check it out. For the record, it's not like some scandalous, crazy thing. Okay.
Starting point is 00:45:42 So don't feel like I'm trying to clickbait you too much. But if you are interested in knowing what happened we'll tell you what happened so yeah um yeah anyway uh one other thing speaking of you know the good old days with girls gone mild we got to film with derrick that was fun it was fun to be with derrick again and he just followed us around the parade for a couple hours uh it was really fun vibes were really high until brad made a just a classic classic brad biff just brad like trying to like do one more thing than you need to do brad like so a classic bit that we've done in almost every parade video i think every parade video we've done we pretend like we're interviewing someone through a window it's just a classic bit i think in the bonus
Starting point is 00:46:22 patreon video you see me interviewing this guy it's just funny like whatever it's obviously like you can't hear them through the window it's funny because they are still trying to be a part of it when they can't hear you either it's like why are you even still here the window with me yeah um and so you know we had this we had this microphone that derrick it's like they call it a shotgun mic so it's like a really long directional mic and that's what we were using to you you know, interview all these people. And it was on a really long cord, probably 20 feet long. And it was connected to Derek's camera. And there were, I was pretending to interview people down like in the, you know, ground floor. And then there were these people on the second floor yelling like, Hey, interview us. And so jokingly, I took my microphone and I think you actually see it on the video on YouTube of me,
Starting point is 00:47:04 like throwing up the microphone and pretending to like, you know, capture audio that these people are doing that in there during Tom. And I felt like we had, I probably did that three times and we had plenty of footage of that. And Brad goes for one more. I felt, I was feeling good. I was like, let's keep doing this just in case. And I don't even know.
Starting point is 00:47:21 I mean, you have the footage, I guess, you know, exactly. I kind of hit off the wall. Okay. And then you were not able to come down with a catch. And then, so I hit the ground and hit the ground. And then all of a sudden, you know,
Starting point is 00:47:32 this microphone that we desperately need for the rest of the video doesn't plug into the cord anymore because it's like, it's been bent. It's, it's, you know, it's supposed to be a circle. It looks more like,
Starting point is 00:47:42 what would you describe it as? Like one side is just flat and the other side is just. It's kind of like how the newer iPhones have like a notch at the top. So it's not a perfect like rectangle. This thing, instead of being a perfect circle, had a little bit of a notch in it. That's, that's a great, I knew you would have something. Thank you. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:47:57 Luckily Todd, you know, manly man Todd was there and he was able to basically force it back. Just did it with his teeth. But yeah, I biffed it and it was just a classic. Like there's so many times in my life where I was like, why'd you do that, Brad? Why'd you do that? You know what it reminds me of? When we used to play pickleball a lot
Starting point is 00:48:15 and like the ball be rolling around by you and you'd be like, here you go, Brad. And instead of just picking up and throwing it, you would try to do like a no look behind the back pass to like the other guy serving it and just throw it over the fence. Every once in a while, I would never throw it over the fence i would never throw it over the fence yeah throw it over the fence like let's say like riverside court where it's like not over the big fence but over a fence like into another court
Starting point is 00:48:32 maybe no yeah like sorry i'll go get that no way am i throwing it over the fence you know that you've ever erroneously thrown it behind the back specific time uh no No. Then I don't think you know either. I don't think I've ever thrown over a fence. There's got to be a time. I'm a big Jason Williams fan, so I'm always trying to throw behind the back. You've been in basketball too. Oh my gosh. Dude, this past basketball time, I was so embarrassed of all the biffs I had.
Starting point is 00:49:03 What's the name? Nolan? Yeah. Oh my gosh. I missed so many easy shots and had so many stupid passes and i was like what do you just pass it normal dude anyway brad biff of the week is the microphone time oh my good memories though i was cracking up i knew everything would be okay it was funny you were were you cracking up yeah okay i feel like I feel like, I feel like I was like, everyone was upset with me.
Starting point is 00:49:27 I was like, I'm sorry guys. I'm sorry. I let you and Todd and Derek fix it. Yeah. Me and the Oregon boys were laughing. Okay. We got a new segment,
Starting point is 00:49:35 uh, real quick here, Brad, do you want to explain what it is and what it's called? Yes. Uh, we're calling it game, uh,
Starting point is 00:49:40 life changers. Sorry. Hot start. Uh, yes, we're calling it life changers. Uh, so just, uh, life changers. Sorry. Hot start. Uh, yes, we're calling it life changers. Uh, so just, I like the idea of the ghost runners being a positive thing, you know, as talking about positive, um, themes in our life. And, uh, so I just, I had the idea. I was like, Jake, what if
Starting point is 00:49:56 we did a thing called life changers and it can be all these different things. And Jake goes, great idea. What if we did a person, place, and a thing life changer? So life changer is pretty self-explanatory, but it's just things. We can be so broad and vague and fun or serious about any of this stuff. But anything in our lives that has just truly affected us. Big or small. Gas me up. Gas me up, baby. Gas me.
Starting point is 00:50:20 Yeah. Let's start. Let's go person, place, and thing. Okay. Great. My person is going to be ward weeby yeah we've talked about him before and i've said everything that probably could be said about ward on this podcast already but he was the director of the specific canica camp that i
Starting point is 00:50:33 worked at k west and um yeah he was the first person to really give me any kind of opportunity to get to be like in front of people or to have like you know any kind of command over an audience or to be like spurred on in my like humor or entertainment abilities like just from zero to 18 it was all sports and it's entertaining in a way but not like doing an accent and wearing a costume right not like canna cuck entertaining and yeah i just felt that kind of um encouragement from him and whenever you're placed in a role like that i feel like like it, like you, it builds some confidence. It's like, yeah, no, I deserve to be here. And like, let's see. And I think it just, I don't know, showed me what I'm capable of. And even when we, to this day, when we run into people who are CannaCook people or former campers, and they're just like,
Starting point is 00:51:20 yeah, I knew you when you were doing programs. And it's like, yeah, it is. What a crazy time. And it's also like, well, what I'm doing now is really not that different from back then. Like I learned so many skills from the jobs I was given at CannaCuck and having to be detail oriented about planning a party while also being the one to make the decorations for the party and do the playlist for the party and make it memorable for all these middle schoolers. So shout out Ward for just being such a role model in those like pivotal college years for me and just being someone I still look up to and taught me a lot about
Starting point is 00:51:49 leadership along the way. Yeah. I think, yeah, it's just fun to think about like, man, what if they didn't give us this opportunity? Like I had, I'm not going to talk about him this week, but yeah, somebody similar that, yeah, basically did that for me at camp. And yeah. And then I also think like, okay, how do we give other people opportunities like that? Like, you know, whatever it is, like whether it's programs or, you know, we're talking about potentially using this, this guy to help us with video stuff. Who's a young kid. I'm like, what if someday, what if that kid's like, yeah, they helped me do this, you know, gas them up, gas them up, baby. Yeah. It's cool. When those things get like revealed in you, it's like, oh, I guess I
Starting point is 00:52:24 have the ability to do this. Let's lean into this. Let's figure out more of it. So him up, baby. Yeah. It's cool. When those things get like revealed in you, it's like, oh, I guess I have the ability to do this. Let's lean into this. Let's figure out more of it. So he's my person. Cool. My person changed your life. My person.
Starting point is 00:52:32 I, as I was like brainstorming this, I was like, I could just do every single week on family and I'm not going to do that, but I am going to do it. I'm going to start with my mom because out of, I feel like I give my dad a lot of shine on my podcast or on the podcast. Cause it's like, yeah, we did this fun thing with my dad. My dad, you know, forgot his diet Pepsi at the whatever, all this different stuff. But my mom is also so, so, so, so, you know, effective and beneficial to me, such a life changer. Obviously I'm sure most of us can say this about our moms, but it's my podcast. So I can talk about my mom. Um, but I just, I'm going
Starting point is 00:53:03 to, I'm just going to read what I wrote so I don't get emotional or anything too much. But I just wrote down, she always believed in me. Oh man, she always believed in me. She, she truly, she's, I feel like she's just been such a strong supporter and fan of me. Like we talked about it with the, you know, Main Street Roasters coffee where she's like, yeah, I'll buy, I'll buy a Main Street Roaster. I'll go on that website for you, you know, whatever it is.
Starting point is 00:53:24 I think she's a patron. Yes. She's been a patron forever. And she's not the most like frivolous person with her money. I'll say that, you know, she's, she's tight, you know, when it comes to money stuff sometimes. So the fact that she's like, I'm going to support him in every way I can, you know, it's great. Um, I think I wrote down that she taught me how to be funny and toe the line a little bit. Like I think my mom, my mom is definitely like, she's hilarious and everything. But I think sometimes like as an aunt, sometimes like my cousins will be like, Oh gosh, here comes aunt Georgie. Like, what's she going to say about this? You know, in front of my girlfriend or something, you know, like, like she's, she's kind of funny and like, just like kind of shocks you every once in a while with
Starting point is 00:54:00 like a funny line or something like, Oh snap. Didn't think you were going to say that. Um, yeah. So just taught me how to be funny and witty and sarcastic. And, um, I just feel like I wrote down, she bent over backwards for me in many ways. Um, yeah, just in so many different things. Like I, and then along with that, just, she worked hard to always find the interests in my, or find interest in my interests, whether it's like, obviously I was obsessed with sports, you know, growing up. And I remember this is kind of a sad story, but like, I remember she told me, like, I was kind of sarcastic with her as a grade school kid. Imagine Brad being sarcastic ever, you know, but I think she said something like, Oh Brad, that's Shaquille O'Neal. Right. Or
Starting point is 00:54:37 something like that. And I said something like, yeah, of course it is mom or something like that. And she like got so sad because she's trying so hard to like care about sports for me yeah and she got so sad from that anyway um but like whether it's like guitar like she was always like finding cool like she loves ben rector and like how many moms are that cool to like ben rector and like know his songs better than i do you know like she was just like always so excited about i don't know i'm just finding all that interest so i'm gonna stop talking about my mom so i don't cry anymore in your uh guest room of your house for your podcast um but just want to shout out my mom because she's my life changer love you mom shout out georgianne yeah and this is kind of fun a little spoiler for georgianne potentially but uh they're getting an invite to
Starting point is 00:55:19 the wedding we were talking about them with you guys and i was like wait yeah we should invite your parents they'd be so fun we should absolutely invite them yeah and so i don't know how we got their address maybe we still need to get their address i don't remember i don't know if i've texted you for their address but yeah we want to invite them to the wedding we think that'd be so fun if they came oh that'd be awesome they would have a blast uh okay my place life changer brad you're really gonna like this one okay. Would be anywhere outside of Missouri. Hey! Yeah, baby!
Starting point is 00:55:51 I wanted to word that in a way that would get you fired up. And basically what I mean by that is, I feel like I... No, everyone knows what you mean by that. Just, I feel like I started to get a lot smarter. Yeah. Like street smarter.
Starting point is 00:56:04 Yeah. I started to like have a better understanding of other people, of other cultures. It's like the more you can experience, the more well-rounded, the more adjusted, just the better person you're going to be. And so I owe that a lot to like, whether it's moving to Kansas City or then eventually moving to Dallas, or even just like the amount of road trips I took, the amount of friends I made a point to visit in other cities and other colleges, just anytime I could get out of the Stratford bubble, which was in the Bolivar bubble, any type of like camp bubble, just like
Starting point is 00:56:32 going out and experiencing things has helped me so much. And I've traveled all over the US, as you guys know, in a limo, in other cars. And when thinking about things that like shaped my life or changed my life, it's gotta be just like getting out and moving around, see some new stuff, see some new people. I'm interested. Like you went to school, however, was that an hour away from your house? Yeah. 37 minutes. 37 minutes.
Starting point is 00:56:55 Like, did your personality used to lend itself more to like, I want to be close to home. Cause I feel like even like your freshman year, you were doing like adventurous things, right? Yeah. Like what did you ever think about going somewhere farther away for college i think i just wanted to be out of springfield okay like out of the town that really felt like yeah where i really know it was like bolivar though i don't know anything about bolivar yeah yeah it felt it felt far enough away it was
Starting point is 00:57:18 far it was a different city yeah it was a city i didn't know the streets i didn't know anything yeah and so that was far enough away from me and yeah i've talked about it before i was so lazy about my college search so i can't pretend like a lot of thought went into it i didn't tour a single college i didn't even tour sbu i did the honors program interview and i got in and so there i was like okay did you go to like homecoming i'll go here because your mom went or your dad my parents met there that was part of it too it's like they met there they liked it yeah i'm in the honors program cool let's do it so not a ton of thought went into it i kind of respect that to an extent you know and then i got there and i was like wow this is pretty fun like having all these new friends and all this freedom and i'm gonna really go bananas in like a wholesome way wholesome
Starting point is 00:57:57 bananas yeah yeah yeah like uh organic yeah did uh did anybody else from your high school go there no so i i knew no one going into it it it was awesome. Yeah. I still have that in my personality. Just like, let's go. I'm going to do a church by myself. I'm not telling anyone. That's cool. Um, what's your place? Yeah. I love that Jake. Good job. Um, I have so many fun ones, but I'm going to go with, uh, my friend, Sam Dwyer's basement is my game life changer. I keep wanting to say game changer cause I wrote down, I'm going to change it to life changer. It was a Canna-Kek name.
Starting point is 00:58:27 Maybe that's why you're thinking that. Maybe so. No, Sam Dwyer's basement. If Scott's listening to this, honestly, I should have waited for one that Scott was on to do this with him. But I mean, his basement was just the best basement. We all know like that basement that your friend has. It's like he had the best internet.
Starting point is 00:58:42 He had the best computer set up. You know, we were all like, you know, so many fun things happened down there, whether it's like he had the best internet he had the best computer setup you know we were all like you know so many fun things happened down there whether it's playing you know that that was like the peak of guitar hero was with sandwires basement more than a feeling love that song guitar oh yeah so much fun playing guitar hero down there we played uh need for speed what was the drift was it called tokyo drift or is that no tokyo drift is fast and furious tokyo drift need for speed what was the drift one was it called tokyo drift or is that no tokyo drift is fast and furious tokyo drift need for speed something drift really i don't know oh so much fun just playing all these different video games playing madden playing all this stuff and then also just going over to you know the computer chatting up the biddies you know playing some
Starting point is 00:59:21 music on rhapsody or limewWire. Who's bleeding online. Like, dude, do you mind if I log you off since you're playing guitar here and I get on mine? You know, whatever. Just talking to girls. Those were the good old days whenever you would just openly flirt with a girl with everyone else around. It was like, hey, I'm going to tell her this. Yeah. Hey, she said this.
Starting point is 00:59:38 Dude, take over for me. Yeah. And his house is also the one. Well, I don't know if we've even talked about this in the podcast but we scott sam and i used to make these really dumb home videos like i didn't have a camcorder growing up at my house and so like the only time we could make these funny videos and watch them was at sam's house and so we made these just nonsensical videos but we thought it was so funny and looking back on that it's okay, maybe that was like the start of something, you know, so just being goofy together. And,
Starting point is 01:00:08 and then other people like parents would watch them and laugh, you know, they'd be like, and it didn't have any, genuinely it was nonsensical. It wasn't like, oh, they had a plot that they tried to carry out. It was like us just being silly, like impersonating different, you know, characters and voices and stuff. And now here I am doing it every week. So, um, yeah, Sam Dwyer's basement shout out, just a great basement, you know, in many ways. Fun. So I, I know Sam Dwyer a little bit. Last time I saw him was probably 12 when I would fill in for Scott on the baseball team that my cousin was on crazy connection. But I remember Sam Dwyer, he was the catcher and he was really good. He was never got to his
Starting point is 01:00:44 basement. Yep. Okay. Last thing. My thing is a life changer for me a little more lighthearted remote start yeah that has changed my life once i encountered that and have that apartment life i don't think i could ever go without it but you remote start every time yeah every time yeah yeah it's awesome yeah it's changed my life so yeah just i mean especially in the winter time but i mean really any time of year it is so nice knowing once i get in that car it's got to be 70 degrees yeah and it's got to be awesome can you like you have just a way advanced car can you like schedule it out like could you be like hey i'm gonna wake up tomorrow at 7 30 and so i'm gonna set my car to start at 9 40 or 7 45 you can that's fun it's nice too yeah that's what i would do
Starting point is 01:01:25 are you yeah so i'd be all about that remote start just something it's just beautiful dude yeah summer winter doesn't matter it's got to be perfect inside the car fun i love it that's great um a luxury of mine not quite as luxurious as remote start uh but my thing is that's a life changer is my tuft and Needle bed and pillow. Tuft & Needle is a brand. Yeah. We got it maybe three years ago. I don't know how many.
Starting point is 01:01:51 Whatever. It could have been yesterday. It feels like we've had it for a while. Okay. And I still don't have like the perfect back and like I still have the back. Well, you don't. I've never said that, Jake. I've never.
Starting point is 01:02:03 I've never. I was under the air. Okay. Okay.'t. I've never said that, Jake. I've never, I've never. I was under the air. Okay. Okay. I'm going to, I'm going to have to delete just some stuff. Does not have the, yeah. Does not have the perfect back. You know, the sponsor.
Starting point is 01:02:14 Please tell us why our company would be a good fit for the Ghostwinners. I was sending out stuff. Two men with perfect backs. I guess I can't say that anymore, Brad. No, but like back, I mean, we used to have just the bed that we got whenever we got married katherine had a bed i think beforehand and uh it was fine but like i would wake up so many days like so sore you'd wake up and be like i don't know if my bag's perfect i don't think i have a perfect bag yet and i mean it's just so comfortable we got like the tuft and needle i
Starting point is 01:02:41 think it's called the mint like a little bit the higher end one. And yeah, they have a pillow. And I will genuinely like be high maintenance and take that pillow with me anytime I go on a road trip. Oh, you got into that point, huh? Just because it's like pillows to me, the bed makes it to where it's like, hey, I either am comfortable
Starting point is 01:03:00 or my back hurts or my back doesn't hurt. But like I can sleep anywhere if I have the right pillow. Like I can sleep on the ground. My back will hurt the next day, but I can fall asleep. You can still sleep with the pillow. Easily. That makes sense. Yeah. Like if I have the right pillow or vice versa, like it could be a nice bed and I could
Starting point is 01:03:16 wake up feeling okay, but I don't sleep very well if I have a pillow that, you know, I sink my head right through the middle of it. Like there's nothing there. Yeah. You got to find the right amount of density. Yeah, and Catherine's house, Catherine's parents have a wonderful house for hosting people, but it's really big. And therefore the pillow quality goes down
Starting point is 01:03:35 once the quantity goes up, right? They're not going to buy it. It's hard to sustain good pillow quality. 50 pillows. Eight bedrooms. I mean, however many they have, it's amazing how many pillows they probably have in that house
Starting point is 01:03:45 and so yeah of course they don't A they don't they're not tracking the quality anymore they don't have quality control they're not they're not hitting them
Starting point is 01:03:50 every time they make the bed or the guest room or anything so I bring my own and I sleep just fine there BYOP so shout out to Tuft & Needle if you can't get a bed you're not in the market
Starting point is 01:04:00 for a bed at least you're in the market for a pillow they got some nice ones that's fair if you're road tripping somewhere, bring a pillow. I think that's fine. Definitely not.
Starting point is 01:04:08 Like I'm flying to Austin tomorrow. I'm definitely not bringing my pillow. I was going to say, that's what I would start to judge you. For some reason, that's what I thought originally. I was like, wow. Only road trips where it's like, it's not a big deal to throw it in there. That's what is great. Like, yeah, like I said, I'm driving to Iowa later today.
Starting point is 01:04:20 You can always throw a little extra in when you're driving. Yes. Toss in the basketball shoes. Maybe I will play. That's why, yeah, that's why Catherine always wants to drive every, you know, to Texas extra in when you're driving. Yes. Toss in the basketball shoes. Maybe I will play. That's why, yeah, that's why Catherine always wants to drive every, you know, to Texas.
Starting point is 01:04:28 Because she can pack more. Yeah. She doesn't have to like be so strategic. She's like, I don't know, maybe, maybe we'll use the tricycle. Bring the whole mattress.
Starting point is 01:04:37 Why not? We're driving. Yeah, bed in a box, you know. So, all right. Fun, fun, fun. Well, that's been Life Changers.
Starting point is 01:04:47 And this is... What do you guys think was it game changing shoot we'll do it again all right was it live change no i thought i was switching to yours let's just say life changing changing there we got it okay uh let's say this wednesday episode like we always do with our YouTube comment of the week. Mine is from someone either named Ian, spelled weird, or it's a lowercase L spelled lane. It's like a long slender, like tall Tetris piece. Yeah, yeah, yeah. A-I-N. That's how you spell Ian.
Starting point is 01:05:17 How do you spell Ian? Just. That's Ian. No, Ian is just I-A-N. Wait, what'd you say? What did I say? Long Tetris piece. Yeah just I-A-N. Wait, what'd you say? What did I say? Long Tetris piece. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:05:27 A-I-N. Okay. I thought you were about to do it again. Long Tetris piece. A-N. I was like, that's what? I might've said it wrong the first time. Either way.
Starting point is 01:05:38 You guys all know. You guys can go back. We can't. Ian or Lane. Yeah. Whichever you are. He said, hey, Jacob, Bradad i'm not usually want to comment on post or leave reviews but i've been listening for about two years now and with the chiefs winning
Starting point is 01:05:51 the super bowl and with episode 200 what better time to finally leave one but now so he's leaving a review but this is a youtube comment yeah uh this podcast has truly been a source of joy and encouragement in the last couple years and when i heard about the new wednesday episodes you better bet i was zoppity. You guys have also been great examples of role models of what it's like to live out your life for Christ. Not only have you made me a funnier person, but also a better one as well.
Starting point is 01:06:14 Dang, Laney. I will forever be grateful for this podcast and the encouragement the two of you bring me. And I cannot wait to see the amazing things God has in store for you. Well said. Can't believe you typed all that out on a YouTube comment. You're the man. Thank you. Thank you. Yeah. Thank you. I am. No, dude,
Starting point is 01:06:31 that's awesome. Thank you. Or yeah, hopefully it's a guy. Surely. What if, what if it's Lane? Lady Lane. Lady Lane. Dang. Thank you. Um, okay. Mine's coming from Lauren strong. Uh, it's a YouTube comment on our Wednesday episode with the girls. So many good comments. Yeah. And this one, this one is my favorite because I can, um, you know, potentially see if we can get some sponsors out of it as well. So, uh, she said again, such a good podcast and love that the girls were on this one. I actually went and bought the book they were talking about. So I'm really excited to read that. They made it sound super interesting and I want to end on that. So what I'm reading here is it seems like if we talk about things on the podcast, it would influentially help your business. People take action. Yes. Is what you're saying. So if somebody, you know, knows
Starting point is 01:07:18 somebody from Carly Jean, Los Angeles or any other company that wants to potentially sponsor the podcast, let us know. And we would love to tell people about your business. And then people like Lauren Strong literally will tell us, I just bought that. So who's strong now? Guess what? We all are. Flex them. Ooh. That look edited to you? Anyway, thank you, Lauren Strong and so many other i don't think genuinely katherine let me just be
Starting point is 01:07:47 transparent i don't think like katherine was worried about reading like about doing these videos and this stuff because she's like what if somebody says something mean i genuinely don't know if there was one mean thing that was said dude the closest thing i saw to like a negative comment out of like five six hundred we got on youtube was like almost like it was like more negative for you i don't know if you saw there are a couple of these is like wow didn't expect brad's wife to look like that yeah exactly yeah that's fine yeah i know me exactly shows you how funny i am guys look how good of a woodworker i am just funny that someone would leave a comment like that like yikes that that's Brad's wife?
Starting point is 01:08:27 But yeah, everyone is so nice. That girl chose Brad? No, yeah, yeah. Out of everyone. Brad Ellis. Yeah, but she does, you know, have a toxic relationship with me where she, you know. And well, that's how I was with my standup comedy special too.
Starting point is 01:08:37 I was like, I don't want to see any of the comments because I know I can do better. And so I just like, whatever people want to say, I'll let them say it. I'll do better in the future. It's my first time. But you guys were all like, Jake, you can read the comments. Like, they're all really nice. I was like, oh people want to say, I'll let them say it. I'll do better in the future. It's my first time. But you guys were all like, Jake,
Starting point is 01:08:45 you can read the comments. They're all really nice. I was like, oh, okay. Yeah. But yeah. Thank you guys for all your support in so many ways.
Starting point is 01:08:51 I could say it a million times over. But thank you. We appreciate you. Longest Wednesday episode ever. I think we're on right now. And hey, if you enjoyed this episode, if you enjoy this podcast,
Starting point is 01:09:02 copy and paste the link, send it to a few friends. We'd appreciate it. Four friends. No. Four, five friends no four five friends five friends if you do hey if you do four do another one just like brad the microphone throw it up one more time yeah you think you think you've got enough just try it one more time what could go wrong right send it to that fifth friend we would really appreciate it uh thank you guys hope you have a good week and you know what have those five friends all sent it to five of their friends
Starting point is 01:09:29 yeah and those five friends send it to five of their friends and then all of a sudden we have like a bunch of friends and we can call them the ghost runners friends groups right is that a good idea that would be game changing life changing that a good idea? That would be game changing. Life changing. Have a good week! Love you guys. Go for a podcast!
