Starting point is 00:00:00 Whoa, whoa, whoa. Go ahead. I'm going to move Vulcan out of the way. That's a slap in the face. Great start. Great start. I think it was a five-second countdown. And I think with like a, as soon as we went live, you just hear the bag fall.
Starting point is 00:00:23 Thank you for moving that. You bet, buddy. No free ads for any other pickleball company except for Friday. You know, they used to be a competitor, and I don't really know what they're up to these days. but go ahead and chuck their bag to the side anyway. It's a good bag. It's a good bag. I don't know if anything else was too good about them, but anyway.
Starting point is 00:00:41 Good bag. Good bag. Okay, so speaking of people in the pickleball industry, we had, I mean, I could live to be 100 years old, and I may not get the kind of interaction, the text message that we received like two days ago was such a just gift from the heavens. Oh, wow. it takes a lot. Let me just start with the end.
Starting point is 00:01:06 It takes a lot for me to laugh out loud by myself. I don't even know what it would have to be. Just like, yeah, group text with friends or whose line is it anyway, I guess? I don't do that often. Okay. We are, so it's me, Scott, Isaac, CEO Matt, all chatting with a guy in New York City who runs, well, how much do I want to give details about who this guy? Whatever.
Starting point is 00:01:32 It's a guy who does pickupball stuff and we're trying to do stuff. And so we don't know this guy. He's a stranger. I don't even know his, I guess I did know his name. He said it in the text. And so a complete stranger,
Starting point is 00:01:45 hey, we're going to be in New York. We want to do this. We want to do that. Okay, yeah, we can maybe do that. You know, going back and forth. It's a pretty normal conversation. I go, hey, I'd really like to do this. He goes, you know what?
Starting point is 00:01:58 He goes, that's a good idea too. I'm about to get a sponge bath for my wife and go to bed. Let's chat more tomorrow. He texted? What? Yeah, that's what he told all of us. It was like 9 o'clock at night. Yeah, yeah, no, that's good.
Starting point is 00:02:15 That's good. Sorry, I'm about to get a sponge down for my wife. Just text me in the morning. I'm about to, he's about to get one from his wife? Yeah. What? What did you say? But like, you know,
Starting point is 00:02:31 All right, buddy. Yeah. I mean, our separate group taxed was firing. Like, what? Sponge bath? Are you kidding me? Wait a second. I don't even know where to go with this, Jake.
Starting point is 00:02:49 I don't even know. I mean, so we're like, Matt, you kind of know this guy. Is he 86? He goes, no, he's like in his 40s. You know, he's not, you know, needing to be bathed. He's capable of bathing himself. is that like New York speak for something else like about to get sponge bath up New York speak yeah you know they're a little different but to tell like a group chat of
Starting point is 00:03:14 strangers this guy has none of our phone numbers and be like guys this is I've absolutely loved our conversation I'm about to power move is that what it is is it him being like hey I don't know if you guys get this from your wife but I'm about to get sponge bat why a sponge bath. Why? Why? Why not just so interesting? Because I barely know what it is.
Starting point is 00:03:38 I mean, I guess it, I got one when I was one. And you don't remember that one very well, probably. No, it wasn't even that memorable. Yeah, I barely remember the thing. I mean, like on one hand, it's maybe a brag. Like, hey,
Starting point is 00:03:53 but also, I don't think I want that. We just couldn't believe. We're like, dude, what does it take? like, I have to meet this guy. We have to do an event now. I'm going to see who this guy is.
Starting point is 00:04:06 So I'm already like, oh, I got to like egg this guy on somehow. This is amazing. And so I was like about to do something like, that's actually great timing because my wife's about to, you know, that was like the route I wanted to go for the response. And then Scott texts like, Jake, you got to say something. I go, already mid-text, brother, already working on it. Yeah, the finkies are working. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:30 And I don't know. this probably wasn't as funny, but I was like, what was this guy's name again? And anyway, now I'm just fully saying things about it. Whatever. His last name is Peek. And so I was like, amen, brother. Hope she gets a good peak tonight. And then he didn't respond until the morning, but he did. No, of course not.
Starting point is 00:04:52 He went straight to the sponge bath. No delay. Yeah, he's D&D on the sponge bath, bro. I got a sponge bath my wife. on the phone. See ya. I mean, just a power move all around. Like just this guy, this guy's like, I'm going to drop this bomb, basically, and then just walk away.
Starting point is 00:05:15 Like, detonate this building and then we just got to get out of here. Like, I think that's a really fun, like, somewhat psychopath move, but just like, let's just go here. Let's just, all right, guys, I, you know, whatever it is. like yeah what's in that ballpark like hey my wife and i are about to like enjoy some chocolate covered strawberries i'll hit you guys later fair but like yeah i first of all let me go back let me go back i do appreciate when people say specific things sometimes like and maybe i'm a little bit on the oversharing side as well like like like even today i don't remember exactly what i said i was like 15 minutes late i was like sorry guys i'm running late and then i wanted to explain why i don't
Starting point is 00:05:55 know if i said everything that happened but it was like like or hey I can't make it because of this. I don't think you have to say everything, but I do appreciate way more than somebody just being like, hey, I'm signing off, but we can talk tomorrow. Like, yeah. Like, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:06:09 I'm signing off to spend some time in my wife. Cool. Or I, you know, whatever. But like, there's also levels to, like, you don't need to go too far into everything with the sponge bath idea. And I think the chocolate-covered strawberries thing would not elicit the reaction.
Starting point is 00:06:27 Yeah. What are other things? things in that ballpark. About to, nothing's as good as SpongeBath. I'm about to, you know, crack open a bottle of wine with my wife.
Starting point is 00:06:40 Yeah, no, it can't be, it can't be anything remotely normal. Like, a bottle of wine's too normal. Like, I'm about to,
Starting point is 00:06:48 like, I think you can put in, like, fill in the blank with a different drink or like, I'm about to butcher a calf with my wife. Or,
Starting point is 00:06:56 like, you have to do something like, so out of the ordinary. about to declaw our cats with my wife. Sure. Like the worst thing you could do. Like the worst thing you could do. I'm about to declaw our cats.
Starting point is 00:07:09 I'm about to declaw my wife. I was going to say like anything obviously inappropriate will get a reaction. Like if you say something. But sponge bath is almost just a little bit normal. Like what if this guy just had a bad surgery recently or like an injury and he just needs sponge bath. But we don't have that background. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:07:30 I'm about to declaw my wife's cat If I just keep mixing the words around I'm about to have claws with my wife's D What No I think the chocolate covered strawberries thing would be good I think Yeah maybe like I don't know what else you could say like that
Starting point is 00:07:55 But it's just wild Like Simon what are your thoughts on this I was going to what are the circumstances that would make it normal to get a sponge bath from your wife? Like is I guess you mentioned surgery, Brad, but is there, I just feel like 98% of the time I don't want to know that or like need to. But I guess maybe once you meet this guy, you'll see something that you'll be like, oh, obviously this guy needs a sponge bath. That's great. Hey, nice and fish and mishi, push a dual spin for me. He spins on his wheelchair. It's like, oh, got it. Yeah, it makes sense.
Starting point is 00:08:35 Uh, uh, oh, ooh, I think this type beat means that it's going down with some random thoughts in white. Me too. Midwest best friends eating fast food on repeat. So come along. Let's have some fun and go ahead. Get on your feet because it's a ghost from his podcast. Well, happy Monday, everybody. How are we doing? What's the latest? with everybody. Tyman, Tyman, how are you doing in Bucyrus, Kansas? I'm doing great. Bucyrus is doing well besides its Wi-Fi speeds. But no, yeah, I'm a good. Had a pretty chill week. Yeah? Cool, man. That's awesome. I saw The Odyssey again. We're going to have a lot to talk about. You saw it again. I saw the Odyssey again. It was a lot better. For anyone that was mad at my my take on it. I saw it in real IMAX, how it's supposed to be seen. And I think even just like
Starting point is 00:09:41 getting it more the second time, it's a good, it's a good movie. It's a good experience. The first, the first time you didn't see it in real IMAX? Okay, I didn't see it in any kind of IMAX. I just saw it like normal. Well, I saw it at B&B theaters and I selected the option that said super, super screen. So I was like, that's probably, that's probably their equivalent of IMAX, right? it was it was not it was not great yeah super super screen uh time it has you ever been to the b&B theater
Starting point is 00:10:12 that has the playground inside of it no where is this? You heard about this? No I believe there's one in shawnee where it's like you get to like play on the playground before the movie and then there and then the movie starts and it's like a kid's movie usually and cool yeah I don't know it's a pretty fun idea
Starting point is 00:10:31 I don't think it's uh I don't know I haven't heard of anybody actually going, but if there was anybody that I think would like it, I'll try it out. Yeah. I'll just go alone. Have you all ever rented out an entire theater before? I did an event one time called Grande Bu. Oh, fair. Add B theaters and Johnny.
Starting point is 00:10:53 Yeah, you're right. I think it would be so fun to just, like, I wonder how that works. Like, can I rent out an entire theater for a, day and just go movie marathon in there? Yeah. Could you hook a couple Xboxes up? Um, could we watch home videos? Right.
Starting point is 00:11:13 Yeah, like how, how much, how much, uh, power do I have? Like how much, because when you run out of theater, I think you can watch whatever you want in there, right? I would hope so. Do they just, dude, I saw some behind the scenes of like, let me just, uh, oh boy. Let me just hit me. So this is what it feels like. Got it.
Starting point is 00:11:41 Okay. There he is. Yeah, maybe they do, Tyman. Maybe they do. Maybe that's how it is. Maybe, buddy. I've heard that. Really?
Starting point is 00:11:57 Uh-huh. Uh-huh. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. Dude, I just watched the office episode recently where Jim and Pam were on their honeymoon and people won't stop calling them. And Jim is like pretending like he loses service and he does an incredible job at it. And because it sounded exactly like you did, Simon. Do they give an HD?
Starting point is 00:12:19 That's what looked like that, so. Okay. But maybe they do. That was my main question. Maybe they do. Maybe they do. All right.
Starting point is 00:12:34 When I decided we should do Main Street Roasters as the first ad, because they're a presenting sponsor, I asked Timon, is there anything you want to say? And Timon goes, et, uh,
Starting point is 00:12:42 uh, uh, uh, and, uh, and, and, and,
Starting point is 00:12:52 No, that's not the sound of a curig. But it could be. It could be. I saw an Instagram real the other day and it was just like, I forgot what he titled it, but just like my curig every morning. And then he just made like the worst noises of all time. Like, everyone was like, yeah, why does it have to be this way?
Starting point is 00:13:22 And then just like a tiny little drip coming out. Like, oh, man. Yes. Hey, but Kourigs do pre-great beans. Freaking be Cyrus, dude. Hey, I don't care where you are or how or what your Wi-Fi speed is. Coffee don't care about your Wi-Fi speed. Caffeine don't care about your Wi-Fi speed.
Starting point is 00:13:57 And the human body doesn't care either. So wherever you're at, in the contiguous United States, Main Street Roasters would love to send you some coffee as a presenting sponsor. They're great people. It's great coffee. They have just short of a million flavors,
Starting point is 00:14:14 depending on how you look at things. And so there's something for everybody and comes in many different forms, beans, grounds, and then, you know, kind of half, half and half. I think that's what half and half is. It's a little bit of both. That's what happened.
Starting point is 00:14:30 So, anyway, check it out. Maystree Roasters, And then take 10% off with the promo code GRKC. All right, Jake. What's going on with you, man? How are you doing? I'm doing great. I have been to Iowa and back.
Starting point is 00:14:44 I've once again been to the dentist and back. And great experiences of both. Where have you been? I was going to say, what was better? Yeah. Yeah, the people really were concerned about your dentist. Yeah, time. Like, that's too long at the dentist.
Starting point is 00:15:02 that first one was a while um yeah i've now been back three times and 10 days so i don't know if i'm just in their sales funnel right now and they're like oh we we got this guy this guy won't pay for anything but yeah yesterday was so they did like all right let's get to know you as a patient that was like the first day clean half my teeth come back a few days later clean the other half of my teeth that one was like 30 minutes and then Yesterday, they upsold me on doing some in-office whitening. They brought it up last time I was there, which I thought was a little rude. It's like, and maybe you'd like a haircut and those eyebrows taking a look at.
Starting point is 00:15:48 Surely you understand where we want to go next. Yeah. Maybe a GLP1 wouldn't hurt here and there. I think this is just the dentist. But I was like, I, yeah, that sounds good. what are the options? Like, well, you know, it's pretty affordable. You can just do these like strips every night. Like, I'm not doing, no. I've been flossed 34 years. I'm definitely not doing strips, you know. They're like, well, we can do like in office. We'll just take care of it here. And I was like, and that would take what like six months of strips would take. And they're like, yeah. I was like, all right, let's do it. And so then that was yesterday. And so they said, all right, I'm trying to think how it started. She was like, I think I asked, how long is this going to take? And she said, well, it's like, we do it in rounds. And so I was like, well, how many rounds do we go?
Starting point is 00:16:40 And she said, that's up to you. She said, that's how much you can tolerate. I was like, whoa. You're like, I'm a ginger, so I got this. Yeah. Part of me was like, challenge accepted. Like, I would like to know what the average human male is able to tolerate. And I'd like to beat it, you know?
Starting point is 00:16:59 Yeah. Like, they do two and a half. I'd like to get to three rounds. and I guess that's based off of like pain and sensitivity. I don't know what they're doing to your teeth when they whiten them. They're like, it's going to kill. So just let me know when it gets like too much. So talk to me.
Starting point is 00:17:15 What happened? And they don't, they don't tell you that much. I have no idea what is actually happening. I just know the result. And so she, you know, puts this like guard in your mouth. They like keep it open. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:17:32 And then there was like 15 minutes of like prep and stuff. And I thought that was it. And then she's like, all right, you ready to get started? I was like, dang, gums are kind of hurt a little bit. I guess we haven't started. I'm already sore. So then we do round one and get done with that. And she was like, all right, how are you doing?
Starting point is 00:17:54 And also I can't talk. Like it's something. Uh, tea, tea, okay. Tea time. but gum and lent because I'm like this thing is so far
Starting point is 00:18:05 into my gums it's like it's not this it's a combination of like hand gestures and like trying to talk like hey pretty good
Starting point is 00:18:15 okay I don't I don't hear here I kind of had good the death year I didn't try to drink a lot of later
Starting point is 00:18:26 so I'm like I had like six dollars of water already can I go last year halfway or do I need to start like to it is ever What I need to do?
Starting point is 00:18:37 That was basically what it was like Okay Okay Yeah I was like maybe I should type it out on my phone or something But it's very uncomfortable It has nothing to do with the actual whitening Everything else is so uncomfortable
Starting point is 00:18:50 I'm in a weird position I think it's why my back hurt today I mean this weird position on this chair And Got so much saliva building up in my mouth It's just everything about to Dennis is always just like just inconvenient, just not
Starting point is 00:19:03 cozy. Have they, have they upgrade the chairs much recently? I don't know. I think it was just the angle as there's no lumbar support. Also, I may have just old. So anyway, I'm telling her like, teeth are fine. Can you make everything else better? And she's like, all right,
Starting point is 00:19:19 you think you can go one more round for 20 minutes? And I was like, she didn't adjust anything. And I was like, yeah. Yeah. Whatever. And so they did one more. Are they drilling? Are they polishing? So she is just like I actually sent I was so she does something just she just says one thing and lets it sit for 20 minutes.
Starting point is 00:19:39 So I'm just sitting there on my phone. So it's not like this hour long procedure or anything. It's like dry. I'm just like on my phone getting work done. I actually texted time in about some work stuff and then I sent them a little picture. I was like by the way, this is the this is how I look like while sending you that text message. I'll send it to you guys too. so they put something in her teeth
Starting point is 00:20:00 and it's like blood red which I didn't realize that until I took a selfie I was like geez why is it red oh whoa okay you see the picture now so they just let that sit on you for 20 minutes and then you just get to hang out
Starting point is 00:20:14 while it feels like your gums are bleeding and after the second round I was like call it I don't care what the other men do this is so just like painful and she's like how do your teeth feel? I was like,
Starting point is 00:20:31 teeth feel fine. She's like, all right, well, you may feel some sensitivity later. Teets, yeah, good. How many, how many rounds are you supposed to go? I don't know. I think it was only three max. Okay. Okay. So, what I like to get to three? Gums couldn't handle.
Starting point is 00:20:46 So I was like, she said, they may be sensitive later. And I was like, oh, yeah, like what kind of foods should I, like, avoid? She's like, well, it's not the food, it's the wind. I was like, wind. Oh, just, yeah, just air touching it and stuff.
Starting point is 00:21:02 I was like, this woman's insane. You just don't know what she's talking about. I can eat whatever I want, but look out for wind. Okay, fine, whatever. And so then I get done, I check out, and I go to my car. And something about, I think walking outside, I must have taken like a bigger breath or bigger gust. And, dude, the air that shot out of my mouth, it, like, it almost dropped me to my knees. I was crying.
Starting point is 00:21:25 Like, I had tears in my eyes when I got to the car. Holy cow. It was like an unbelievable pain. It's like the one time you've ever like, what do they call? Like you hail your Tesla. Like you're like like, like I need the Tesla to come to me right now. I'm summoning it to me. Yes, yes.
Starting point is 00:21:42 Come closer quicker. But legitimately not exaggerating. I probably cried three times yesterday from just like breathing. You would just like breathe wrong and there would be a tooth down here. It's actually pretty funny. I was sending a voice memo to one of our Friday pickleball, like, distributors in England. And not, like, reprimanding them super seriously, but it's like a pretty serious, like, message. Like, hey, guys, we need to do this better and this better.
Starting point is 00:22:12 We need to stop doing this. And mid-voice memo, like, some air hit that tooth. And I'm like, and so if you guys could just, I'm like whimpering. So it's not, it's not a huge. huge deal guys, but just like the AI, it's getting too. It's just, I'll text you guys. I had to stop it. I said, I'm so sorry.
Starting point is 00:22:38 I went to the dentist today. I can't talk anymore. Yeah. It's all, it's all in our WhatsApp. Yeah. I love the idea of you like, like, yeah, getting like choked up halfway through and these British guys are like, wow, these American bloke's are really serious about the pickle.
Starting point is 00:22:54 Like, like. Wow, they really care. All right. Yeah. They really want to put a squash to that kebab. I don't know what I'm saying, but yeah. Timit, you have the brush. That's funny. Best British accent. Let's hear it. All right. Right now it's telling me I don't have any connection. Trying to get him involved. He's frozen. Dang. No, there's, oh. I heard a little British.
Starting point is 00:23:25 Dang, I'm sorry, Tyman. I think it would just be easier if I recorded from home next week. I was like, yeah, yeah, that's great. Let's do it. Turns out, yeah, rural Wi-Fi is not the best. Yeah. He's looking at him. Getting closer to the camera.
Starting point is 00:23:43 Maybe that'll help. Oh, man. Yeah, if you're land, if you have horses on your property, you probably can't have like a great Riverside podcast. You can't have both. Yeah, you can't, yeah, you can't have it all at that point. I can't even tell if time it can hear us.
Starting point is 00:23:58 He's just kind of nodding and he's like 17 seconds delayed. Oh, that's good. Oh, we have fun, boys. We have fun. Oh, my gosh. Okay, so you're going back to the dentist again then? Like, you're going back?
Starting point is 00:24:19 A British accent you say? No, no, no. You want a British accent? That's good. It's good because it's distorted too. We still can't even really hear you. Yeah, I was just like, even his delayed joke is like, yeah, delayed. What's funny, though, is that he's recording all this natively.
Starting point is 00:24:43 And so we are going to be able to hear what he says when we can't hear him or he's going to cut that out. Yeah, it's just. To everyone else. Oh, my gosh. That's so good, dude. Okay, so you're done with the dentist. I've done with the dentist. I have my night guard
Starting point is 00:24:59 and I'm done. How's the night guard work? Is it, is it, what's it supposed to, is supposed to help you with snoring or something or like sleeping better? I guess I grind my teeth when I sleep. Ah, one of those. One of those.
Starting point is 00:25:17 I guess it's supposed to stop that. But they said not to use it last night because my teeth just got whitened, so I haven't used it yet. I'll use it in Gulf Shores. Watch out for the wind. I can't wait. I'll like I see it.
Starting point is 00:25:25 I think you and I might be sleeping in the same bed at one point. So, Buckle up, buddy. Session three, we're getting a little tight in there. It'll be fun. So we'll figure it out.
Starting point is 00:25:38 You'll sleep with somebody maybe. We'll see what happens. Okay. I, what was I going to say? Oh, along with, yeah, talking about sleeping, whatever. And you remind me when you said sleeping beds. I mentioned this on one of the ghost runners.
Starting point is 00:25:53 We had our ghost runners like Zoom call last night. And I'm going to say Zoom call, even though it wasn't Zoom call. Is that fair? Should we call it video conference call? Like do I sound older if I say Zoom when it's not Zoom or do I Google Meet conference? What do you think is like cooler or like less cringy to people that are that have opinions about that stuff? Like like if I say Skype, that's bad.
Starting point is 00:26:17 But if I say FaceTime, FaceTime's bad. Is Zoom call when it's on Google Meet bad? That doesn't seem as bad. Okay. And it's so much quicker than. Like we had a Google meet call last night rather than just like, correct. I did a Zoom with everyone. And I think if you say like, hey, we had a team's call, like you're just a douche.
Starting point is 00:26:38 Sorry, I shouldn't say that word. Oh, you're just a punk. Anyway. Good thumbs up in time. You're just a. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, cool. Anyway, but we had a call with the ghost runners that are going to the getaway.
Starting point is 00:26:50 I mentioned it to one group of them. Can't remember which one. They all blend in that none of them mean anything different to me. They're all just, you know, bottom. line so um no i'm just kidding uh but timeman i i want to know your opinion on this and i'm scared to ask because man you are just i maybe maybe just a thumbs up or a thumbs down how about that we'll just do that for a little bit um i mean it's basically like the ghost he's listening we'll get to hear timid's input just you and i don't get to hear it how fun okay fair enough
Starting point is 00:27:22 okay so all these are looking fine right now you know we okay real quick Harry Potter, what are your thoughts? What is your experience? Go. I've seen the first three movies. They were pretty good. Not amazing. Third one was the best one I saw.
Starting point is 00:27:38 When did you watch them? Did you read the books? Never read the books. Watch the three movies in Ohio. Ohio, where I filmed. Film. It's so bad. It's so bad for us.
Starting point is 00:27:58 Uh, uh, Oh, oh, hi. It's like you have the things in your mouth. Oh, hi. I would say, yeah. I really wish it was recording how it looked for you guys. I really want to find out. Yep.
Starting point is 00:28:18 Yep. Cool. I don't know, man. That's awesome. Okay. Well, I'll just talk. I'll just talk and you guys can listen. All right.
Starting point is 00:28:32 You know, we are a pretty, like, Like, Catherine, and I think we both, Catherine and I both value, like, hey, we're, we're trying to, you know, shelter certain things from our kids. We don't want to expose them to X, Y, Z, before they're ready for it or whatever. We've been kind of careful, like, to the point where it's like, I love the Lion King. And I'm like, I don't know if Rosie's ready for the Lion King.
Starting point is 00:28:53 Bow and Haddy are ready probably, but, you know, we probably shouldn't watch that all together because Rosie might get scared of scar or whatever. All of a sudden, Catherine, on a road trip, I think it was down to Texas. She's like, no, it was on the way home from Colorado. She's like, I think it's time we listened to Harry Potter on audiobook. And I was like, what? Who are you? Like, this is like the, like, it's like homeschool handbook.
Starting point is 00:29:13 Like Harry Potter is Satan kind of thing. Oh, yeah, time. Time and just. And so, and Catherine, I don't think grew up listening to Harry Potter. I didn't, I don't have any bad feelings towards Harry Potter. I just know there's hot takes on it. And so anyway, we listened to it. of course, because it's Harry Potter, think it's awesome.
Starting point is 00:29:36 And so they're super into it. And so then while I'm gone this past week, they watched the first Harry Potter movie. And I'm like, that's PG and it's terrifying. Like there's scary parts in there. I don't think Rosie got to watch the whole thing, but still it was like, it was enough. I'll just say that to where almost every night now,
Starting point is 00:29:56 our kids are coming out, just scared, scared, and getting in bed with us just like, terrified. So, and I don't think it's because of Harry Potter specifically. Well, I do think it is, but I don't think they realize it is. Like, like, Bo comes in, he's just like, I'm scared. I'm scared of this. And the other night, like, at 3 in the morning, I just, like, as Bo gets into bed, I just
Starting point is 00:30:19 go, no more Harry Potter. And he just goes, what? Why? Like, because I'm not doing this anymore. It's just, it's just ridiculous. So, um, all to say, please react. I was thinking about this this morning. I was like, I like the move from Catherine.
Starting point is 00:30:38 I like not letting people know your next move. I like the unpredictability of Catherine just letting Harry Potter rip suddenly. I think she should continue to do that. Go get the COVID vaccine now, you know? Just keep people guessing. Yeah, dude. It was like, how did we get here?
Starting point is 00:31:00 Yeah. I also, if it's like directly impacting your kids, they're immediately more scared, not sleeping as well, then maybe you let it rip a little too soon. I think we did because, man, Beau is like, Bose almost done with the second audio book on tape. Like,
Starting point is 00:31:18 he's like all of a sudden talking about Draco Malfoy, like their best friends or something. Like, Draco Malfoy and his dad, they're both Slytherin. And I'm like, oh my gosh, how'd you, you went zero to 100 so quick with this.
Starting point is 00:31:30 So he is consuming it and like understanding it. And I don't know. But yeah, it was. it was just like, this is like homeschool handbook 101, like, you know, long dresses, uh, you know, like scripture memory, no Harry Potter. Like, and it all of a sudden it's just out the window. So, um, I'm sure she has a, has a defense for it.
Starting point is 00:31:51 I also wasn't like anti. I remember the first Harry Potter book came out when I was in third grade and I read it. I thought it was great. I thought it was cool. So we read it as a class. Uh, Miss Ballinger read it to us. So it was all good. But, Andre.
Starting point is 00:32:05 Any potential parenting hack for you, Brad, something I got to witness in public yesterday is a little like, probably five, six year old girl came up to me saying that she was scared because her tummy felt weird. And so I was like, oh my gosh, what do you need or whatever? And then her dad came over and was like, just take a deep breath and get some water. I'm going to keep playing. So apparently that could fix quite a bit, just deep breath and some water. But you said like, hey, well, what? Whoa, whoa, whoa. Careful with those deep breaths.
Starting point is 00:32:36 They hurt sometimes. Yeah. Go through your nose. Trust me. Yeah. Yeah. Don't be a mouth breather. Oh, man.
Starting point is 00:32:48 What do you think about that, timing? Dude, that is funny. Dude, that's good. That was actually not too bad of a delay. Okay. Yeah, you nailed that one. Great. I trust that it will be good moving forward.
Starting point is 00:33:08 You get that one, Jake? No. Totally, totally. He's so frozen on my screen. Right on. Oh, my. That's cool, man. That's dope.
Starting point is 00:33:22 That's really cool. There's two types of people, and that's one of them. Hey, we're here to talk about good ranchers. I'm going to talk about good ranchers by myself because Timon just refuses to talk right now. Timon, it's okay. You don't have to. It's fine. Good ranchers, if you guys don't know, is American meat delivered?
Starting point is 00:33:41 delivered where you might say well pull out a map look at america anywhere on there i dare you i dare well hawaii i don't know if they'll do hawaii but contiguous they'll do it uh and they'll do it well so um i don't know how else to say it besides just the best meat you could ever imagine delivered straight to your door uh for a fraction of the price of what you would get it for if you're going to a high-end restaurant or something like that i recently went to a high-end restaurant not trying to brag uh had the filet there, and honestly, it was just mediocre compared to Good Ranchers Filets, Good Rancher's Steaks. Good Rancher's Steak. So if you want a high-quality steak, high-quality chicken, high-quality, whatever, pork, seafood, bacon, I mean, bacon's pork, but you get it.
Starting point is 00:34:26 It's all there at Good Rancher.com. Use our promo code GRKC to get a discount as well as an add-on. You guys know all the things. It's just a matter of continuing to support them because they continue to support us. So I'm really excited to have just, I don't think this is a technical term, oodles of Good Ranchers in Gulf Shores. It's going to be amazing. Just literally I think it's going to be like five large coolers full of meat. It's going to be so fun. And I'm excited for all the people that haven't had it yet to have it. Because once you experience it once, you love Good Ranchers. So they support American farmers. They do it all with no added antibiotics, no added hormones,
Starting point is 00:35:02 you know, all the good things. Just nothing, no seed oils, nothing bad, just the good stuff. It's good rangers.com. It's American Meat delivered. GRKC is our promo code. And that's Jake wanted to say that never mind Jake's good. Okay, good rancher.com. Oodles. Anyway, okay, so you were in Iowa. Let's talk about Iowa. Yeah, it was.
Starting point is 00:35:27 It was great. Just, you know, escape a little Phoenix heat. There was one day, I meant to post this to my story. We were in Iowa. And they're like, it's not too bad. What's the weather? And so I went to check the weather out for Iowa, but it like showed me my home weather.
Starting point is 00:35:43 And the heat index was 131 here. Oh. When we were in Iowa. Once again, just I did not know Earth's atmosphere could get to that. That's the thing. Like I don't even know how to quantify that. Just like I don't know how to quantify.
Starting point is 00:35:58 Like once it gets past a certain amount of cold, it's just like, that's just terrible. Like, like, is 131 so much more ridiculous than 110? Or is it just like once you hit a certain threshold, it's over? you know what I mean I don't know I'm glad I wasn't here I do have the screenshot though in case that never happens again you guys have to look um so it was a little bit of like yeah just escape the heat a little bit you know we summer in Iowa Rachel and I our vacation spot so we went up and my parents went up uh hang with the coops and I was there for like five days Rachel's still not back I mean she loves it up there so anyway yeah it was awesome
Starting point is 00:36:40 A lot of good times. I think the one main thing I come back with, and I think you will appreciate this, Brad, because you are left-handed. But most left-handed people, it's like they're weird. Like, they don't fully do everything with their left-hand. Yeah, I don't do everything with my left-hand.
Starting point is 00:36:57 You know, so anyway, that's the discussion we're getting in with my dad and father-in-law. The two steves are both, like, left-handed. And as we got comparing what they do, I mean, it was insane. some of the things. So it's mainly Steve Coop. He's the insane one. And I want to get your take on this as a fellow left-handed guy. So from what I can remember, he, you know, we're just keep going back and forth like, oh, you do this left-handed, this right-handed. That's so interesting. And some of them are more normal. Like, okay, I use scissors right-handed. You know, it's like, well, that's kind of how they're made. That society kind of forces you to do things that way. But I still do this left-handed. And then he talks about how he, when he was a teacher, So if he's at home, he will jot down a little note on an envelope or whatever, left-handed. But when he was a teacher on the chalkboard or whiteboard, he would write right-handed.
Starting point is 00:37:51 What? Like, what? He goes, well, yeah. I mean, jotting down small is like fine motor control. And then the other thing is just like big, you know, whatever drawing. It's always like, wait, well, what hand did you pick blueberries with or whatever he told us earlier? He's like, oh, yeah, I got to pick raspberries with my right hand. We're like, that's fine motor control.
Starting point is 00:38:10 So how could it be both? Yeah, that's what he said. He's like, I've tried picking raspberries left-handed, and I just cannot do it. I have to pick raspberries right-handed. What? And then the other crazy one, he plays tennis, squash, racquetball, all those sports, racket sports, holding the racket in his right hand.
Starting point is 00:38:30 And then he plays pickleball left-handed. And I was like, there's no way both can be true. It's like the same. motion. You're doing both hands? Pickleball is a racket sport. I mean, it's the same thing. Yeah. I thought you were going to say,
Starting point is 00:38:47 uh, because I play right-handed racket sports, but I swing a bat left-handed. I swing a golf club left-handed. But that doesn't seem as crazy to me. I don't know why, but like, but to say like, that's still one of those weird ones, though I.
Starting point is 00:39:02 Yeah. Also the raspberry thing, I'm kind of hung up on that a little bit. We need to, that one seems like I don't know enough about, the mechanics of raspberry picking, but that seems like something that anybody could do with any hand. Like you're telling me he's like, like he has to put his left hand behind his back, but he's raspberry picking. Or maybe it needs two hands. Him and my dad were both going back and forth talking about it. I think one hand like gets the
Starting point is 00:39:25 leaves out of the way and the other one picks it. But yeah, you're right. I don't know exactly what it takes to like really pick a raspberry and to do it efficiently. Okay. So raspberry picking. I will say scissors. I am a right. I handed Cisorer. I also, side note, walked into Rosie's room yesterday when I put her in timeout. I texted you a picture of that.
Starting point is 00:39:47 Yeah. My kids the other day. I was like, Rosie's not here because she's in timeout. Rosie cut her hair. Classic, like right of passage. Like, oh, third child, cutting her hair.
Starting point is 00:39:58 Just snipped it up. Timon wants to say something so bad. Yeah. How bad was it? Tell the ghosties. Honestly, Rosie, dude, Rosie has this way of effortlessly pulling off every single thing she wears. Were you trying to pre-fire the responses?
Starting point is 00:40:24 I don't know if he was. I don't know. Anyway, Rosie honestly looked cool. She looked good. It was bad, but it was like she pulls it off, like she does with everything. Anyway, what was I guess I said? Okay, scissors. How do you shoot gun?
Starting point is 00:40:42 I'm trying to think of like left-handed. I shoot gun, left-handed. Left-eye dominant. Yeah. They were saying, like we both had to grow up shooting guns right-handed because they would kick the shell out the other direction. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:40:54 So I think if I had a hand-me-down gun in some point in my life, I probably would have had to learn how to do that. But yeah, yeah, I don't know. I think I did learn how to shoot a gun from like at my brother-in-laws. May not learn how to, but like I shot guns with my brother-in-law who was also left-handed so that helped because yeah when I go pheasant hunting and stuff I need a special left-handed gun um Chris Kyle let's see yeah Chris Kyle um I don't know man I just I write left-handed eat left-handed uh poor left-handed I
Starting point is 00:41:30 noticed myself like when you pour like I was at breakfast today with my dad and another guy and my dad was sitting next to me and I almost like nailed them in the face because I was pouring right next to them like because you kind of have to like I was pouring some more coffee and so I like shove this up next to him that was kind of awkward I was like I should just pour with my right hand I was like I probably could but man it would be hard um raspberry picking I don't know if I have a favorable hand for that I'm more of a foot picker yeah um I don't know that's funny I didn't know your your dad was left handed or maybe he isn't but the chalkboard thing is I thought he was going to say
Starting point is 00:42:09 like it would be it's really hard to write on a whiteboard or chalkboard that easily gets erased smear because it smears so quick so easily and so I could understand that if he's like just drawing simple diagrams or something but if he's writing words out that's that's amazing like that that's one of those like you're a you're a you're somebody that needs to be studied kind of thing. We were also being like, I would like to see what that handwriting looks like on a chalkboard. I was going to say, let's play Pictionary real quick. Like, you know, I want to see you play racquetball right-handed and write on a chalkboard right-handed. And then you tell me you're still ambidextrous. Yeah, like if he's doing like, he's a science teacher, right? So if he's trying to show like, you know, whatever, like a proton neutron. Yeah, whatever, something like
Starting point is 00:42:58 that where he's just putting a couple circles up there with some dots, no problem. Like I could do that right-handed. but also why would you if you could also surely you could do it left-handed better yeah like there's no way it's there's no way it's an easier thing for you right-handed I don't know that's so funny to me yeah that was a fun conversation and then the other main memory we made is every night we would just get around the kitchen table and we just played cards and we really did even mix up and we played a couple different games but for the most part we just played five-card draw every person would take a turn dealing but it was when when it was your turn to deal, you got to select the new rules for that game.
Starting point is 00:43:38 And that was a blast. Rachel got a deck of cards that was trees, trees of the Midwest, I think, or just tree. Something like that. Yeah. And so Rachel's like, all right, my turn to deal, it's a five-card draw still, pines are wild. Here we go. We had another deck of cards that was animal tracks. And so then you could really get creative what's wild and what's not, you know, based on the animal, based on the track, based on the map in the lower left corner that said what state they're indigenous to.
Starting point is 00:44:14 Okay. Yeah, if you have, if you have at least seven letter A's on your card, then you get. Yeah. Whatever. Black fur is wild. White-tailed anything is wild. I love that. That was fun.
Starting point is 00:44:29 That's the kind of thing that gets the juices flown for Gold Shores. like stuff like that like let's just it was a good like yeah yeah it was good for me because then i was like i'm not going to do something wild like i'm going to like really get out of the box so i did one where i was like all right my turn to deal only half of us are playing the other half is going to stand up and they get to look at all of our cards and they get to place bets based on the cards they see but you can also bluff you know you can all like decide to like you know bet on one person even their their hand is bad you know so we're getting creative it was fun Oh, that's pretty good.
Starting point is 00:45:03 I like that a lot. Dang, that's fun. Trying to think of what I would do. I'm Gulf Shores ready. Yeah. I'd be like if you find, yeah, whatever. Have you played sequence
Starting point is 00:45:15 where it's like one eye jacks and two eyed jacks? Yeah, something like that. Get a little creative with something like that. I don't know. Prime numbers. Prime numbers and one eye jacks,
Starting point is 00:45:27 you know, don't mean a thing. They're just negative. I don't know. Diamond? That's pretty fun. Yeah, sounds fun. You guys hear me?
Starting point is 00:45:39 My back a little bit, kind of? Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Say something quick. I was just going to say, like, I was going to say,
Starting point is 00:45:45 what is the game cards? What, like, I don't, is it, it just, the only thing you mentioned was Wilds.
Starting point is 00:45:51 So it's just like, you play, put cards in the middle. I just, I don't know. Uh-huh. Put cards in the bill. Have you ever played Yatsi?
Starting point is 00:46:01 Yes. It's been a while, though. Okay, so in Yatsi you're trying to acquire, you know, I guess similar to phase 10, like certain like groupings. Yeah. You know, in Yatsi, you would want three of a kind or four of a kind or a small straight or a large straight. Those are very similar principles to poker. Like you're trying to have the best five card hand possible. So three of a kind or two pairs or a straight or a flush, which is all the same.
Starting point is 00:46:27 So, you know, you're just trying to build the best hand. Cool. And that's how certain numbers can be wild. Great. Timon, were you trolling or do you really not know? No, I actually, like, I, I've played many card games, but I just didn't know what, like, when you just say we were playing cards, I just actually didn't know. Okay, fair, fair, fair, fair. Good.
Starting point is 00:46:49 Heaven forbid, I wasn't raised in a poker playing household. And a gambling Harry Potter household. What's funny is, like, last night we were playing, like, Catherine left, she was at a baby shower. And like I played, yeah, basically this gambling game with our kids for an hour. Like horse racing is what it's called. It was awesome. It was so fun. Rosie kept losing and she would just go smuggle some more chips out of like the bank.
Starting point is 00:47:17 Like just go get some more. I bought back in. I bought back in. I don't know. Yeah. It's fine. I went to Lake Tahoe on this week, this past week. I wanted to ask about that.
Starting point is 00:47:29 Yeah. Yeah. Ever been? No much about. about it? I did not. No. Um, I, it was one of those things where it's like, you hear, I, don't worry, time, where he go. Me no, me, me, no, uh, um, I've heard lots about Lake Tahoe. Like, uh, knew it was cool. New, knew it was nice, boozy, whatever. And kind of like was ready to like be a hater of it like let's see let's see how good this place really is you know and
Starting point is 00:48:07 first of all flew into reno nevada i didn't hate reno ever been yeah we performed there yeah i mean like i think i had such a reno is just a tiny crappy Las Vegas and it was like oh this is actually pretty nice it kind of reminded me of phoenix honestly it was like oh this isn't this is just kind of a deserty nice city like like what I saw. And didn't hate it. It was pretty pleasant weather. It was like 85 degrees, a nice dry heat.
Starting point is 00:48:39 It's like, okay. And then drive to Tahoe. And first of all, Tahoe is like a 60 mile wide or 60 mile perimeter lake. So it's huge. So it's like to say I went to Tahoe is like, it's, yeah, it's like saying you go to the lake of the Ozarks. It's like, okay, but there's so many different places within that lake. however just drive it up to it's like gosh dang it this is awesome like this is beautiful this is wild
Starting point is 00:49:06 i had a stereotype of lakes going into it that was like growing up going to lake of the ozarks and lake of the ozarks is like you can't see two inches you know you put your hand under water and you can't see it kind of thing uh tahoe was it looked it looked unbelievable it was so beautiful it was massively blue and just amazing. And yeah, just like kind of reminding me of Colorado with a massive lake in the middle of it, basically. I didn't know this. It's half Nevada, half California. It's like right on the border.
Starting point is 00:49:43 And so as I'm like, I literally would like drive five minutes to go to somewhere and it was in California. And I come back. Yeah, timing. Very good. Time actively listening over there. Oh, really. But it was just, it was awesome. Everything about it was like kind of a vibe, kind of easygoing, but also like high-end.
Starting point is 00:50:05 Bummer of, I don't know how this is for you, Jake, in Arizona. $6.75 or something like that per gallon of gas? Is it crazy in Arizona? I don't think it's nearly that crazy. Okay. I love it. I love it. reactions.
Starting point is 00:50:26 Just wild. Yeah. So that was crazy. I didn't know if that was like a California thing. I know it's in the forest here. Okay. Pretty normal then probably or somewhat. Two days ago,
Starting point is 00:50:37 if you were in the greater Phoenix metropolitan area, you could have seen me out about. I was out in about. 30 and flirty. The temperature is 105, 110. And you would, you would have you would see me out about from a distance he were going to hold on surely he's not in pants right now
Starting point is 00:51:00 now slowly open your eyes yes i was in pants cozy earth pants that's exactly how good they feel that i it's not like it's laundry day oh i ran out of options no i took a shower i said i got to go to the grocery store and then i'm going over my friend kyle's house to hang out what do i want to put on i said i know it's hot I know it's humid somehow in the desert. And I don't care. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:51:28 And that's the motto of cozy earth.com as of today. It's their new August summer sales event. I don't care. I don't care that I just bought sheets a few months ago. Shoot. Cozy Earth don't care about your previous purchases. Cozy Earth is going to make you feel better than those old sheets do. Oh, no, it's so hot.
Starting point is 00:51:51 I can't. I can't buy cozy lounge run out. Cozy Eric don't care how hot it is. It's temperature regulating. It feels about. Oh, I forgot. Speaking of Tibber, did you see that on the Facebook post or Facebook group?
Starting point is 00:52:01 Someone, I screenshot it. I'm going to find this. I need to know, sorry, Lindsay posted in the Facebook group. I need to know, do Cozier's sheets really keep you cooler when you're sleeping? And then all the comments,
Starting point is 00:52:14 Alex Nebel, best sheets have ever had. I've never woken up overheated with Cozy Earth. Andrew said, I really do think they sleep cooler to the point that we switch them for flannel in the winter. I agree with the other comments.
Starting point is 00:52:24 They really do help us sleep cooler. Everyone's saying the same thing and they're saying, I don't care what you used to think. I don't care how it used to be. Cozyrette, don't care. Cozyert, don't care. Cozyert.com, backslash ghostrunners.
Starting point is 00:52:39 Then just classic promo code, GRKC for 20% off sitewide. It's cozy. That's it. It's cozy. They don't care, but they do cozy. But I was there for this real estate mastermind kind of thing.
Starting point is 00:52:53 It was all these guys that were super, super successful. And one of my friends was helping put it on. So I texted this friend. I was like, hey, if you ever need help with anything, if I could just come and serve, I would love to like pay my own ticket. I'll do whatever to make it happen. And he's like, yeah, Tahoe,
Starting point is 00:53:11 you know, July 28 through the 31st, make it happen. So I went down there. It's like the guy that's leading it, I want to be careful with it. I wouldn't make fun of them anyway. But, of course, once you meet these guys, you tell them you do a podcast, they're like, well, I'm going to listen to your podcast, man. It's like, all right, well, I got to be a little bit careful about what I say here.
Starting point is 00:53:31 But that's the thing. Like, these guys were fun and, like, goofy. And, like, just, yeah, just really cool to be around. But the main guy leading it is from New Hampshire. Like, and it's just the most New England guy you've ever met in your life. Like, it was so fun talking to this guy. and one story, I don't know. I'll say it and then time we're going to have to bleep this part out, okay?
Starting point is 00:53:57 Can I just say it to you guys? So, okay, I'm trying to like recognize my role throughout the entire trip. Like I get there and I like go immediately to go like get all the groceries for everybody at Costco. And then I'm like picking up their luggage from them at this private airport that they all fly into like this private jet and like driving those all around, picking up catering. you know, just trying to like serve in it whatever way I can, doing all the dishes. I was trying to guess. And anyway, I'm doing all this stuff. And so I'm just trying to like, be like, hey, these guys spend a lot of money to be here.
Starting point is 00:54:34 I'm just going to stay on the outskirts. Like, I'm not going to ask questions during the sessions, you know, anything like that. I'm just going to kind of fall back. And so there's one time where they're all talking, like they're in the living room of this open concept area. And I'm on the outskirts, like in this dining, like on this dining table, just sitting there listening, but trying not to like get in anybody's way. And this guy that like leads the whole thing is like, comes up to me. He's like, hey, you know, go get in the room. Go, you know, he's got a little accent.
Starting point is 00:55:03 Go get in the room. Go get in the room. And I was like, oh, are you sure I don't want to like, I was like, I don't want to like, you know, be too involved. And he goes, yes, get in the room. As long as you just, he goes, yeah, just don't be a. I go, got it. Sure. Jeez, dude.
Starting point is 00:55:26 That's a word you don't hear super often. Yeah, both. Yeah, yeah. I was like, cool, cool, cool, cool. So, needless to say, I was like, okay, how do I not do that? So I just sat there and kind of listened. You know, I just, just like, all right. You know, I was just being involved here.
Starting point is 00:55:47 So, um, yeah, that made me a little self-conscious. Hey man, love the talk today. Yeah. Not too much though. Didn't love you, dude. Like loved what you were, the words you were saying, man.
Starting point is 00:56:02 Um, I mean, it's one of those things where it's like, dude, there's so many stories and they're so, they're all just like that. Like, it's just like, I don't know how much I should say on this podcast. But like, I really enjoyed these. There were three guys there. I think there was 10 guys total plus the three of us helping or something like that. there were three guys there from New England
Starting point is 00:56:19 and they all cracked me up dude like one of them was like I think technically from Massachusetts originally Mass they love saying I'm from Mass you know at one point we were at a casino because you know it's right on the it's in Nevada and so there's casinos everywhere
Starting point is 00:56:35 and this dealer is also from New England was like where are you from Mass? He's like I'm from Mass too I'm from Loll Southie yeah I'm from Loll you a big Pat's guy uh you know it's like Anyway, just all this stuff and I just love these guys, but they their sense of humor was like, like I learned they don't there are certain things. It's like, hey, we don't really think that's very funny.
Starting point is 00:57:00 Like they just don't like like, like one of the things that like is like completely like like they will never like joke back and forth about is what we just talked about. Like they just don't like it's not like, you know, like hey, looking good in that shirt. Like that's like, whoa, what's he saying that? What's that about? He's married, right? He's married, right? Why is he saying I have a nice shirt? What's that about?
Starting point is 00:57:29 What's that? I thought, you like girls, right? It's like, just a cool looking shirt, dude. I don't know. There's like no room for any kind of like, yeah, male to male sarcastic complimenting or anything like that. To the point where like, there's this guy who wasn't there, but I've met him before. and this guy like out of nowhere the one night was just like
Starting point is 00:57:50 so is that guy gay? And we're like no he's not Anyway it was like Not that there's anything wrong with that you know My father's gay David Ortiz Rumaed to be gay His father was a gay cop
Starting point is 00:58:10 His father was a gay cop Anyway But it was crazy man it was awesome, like meeting these guys that were very successful. Like, for example, like one of these guys, like at one point during the time, we all like had a discussion and helped this guy talk through buying a $96 million portfolio. Like, it's just like, and they were talking about it like it was like, I mean, it was a big
Starting point is 00:58:34 deal, but it was like, oh yeah, here's my experience with something like that or this is what you should do here. And to be fair, like those guys have the same struggles and problems that the rest of us do. It wasn't like, whoa, that guy is. you know, so rich that he doesn't worry about anything. It's like, that guy still mentioned like, yeah, I wish I had more time with my kids. Or, you know, yeah, I wish this or that or yeah, my wife's worried about this. I'm like, your wife's worried about that when you just said you were going to sell your company for $25 million. Like I would never, my wife would never be worried about anything.
Starting point is 00:59:04 But it's like, you kind of just think that like, oh, once you hit a certain threshold of money or wealth or whatever, then your life just gets ultimately so easy. And it was like, it was honestly a good reminder of like, all right, I don't have nearly the, you know, wealth that you guys do and I have similar problems. It's not like it's just going to go away. So, um, wait, so you're telling me in time and feel free to give me some visual reactions as I say this, the wealthiest people aren't also the happiest people. No.
Starting point is 00:59:38 This is a good acting exercise. Hold up. I think at one point, I think at one point we all have to, like, take turns, going to Bucyrus and just, like, being the one that's like the silent mime in the background, like, just reacting with our face. Twice a year, you got to do a Bucyrus sown and you just. Yeah. Anyway. What? So, yeah, ultimately. Was it helpful?
Starting point is 01:00:13 It was good. Yes, it was. It was good on multiple. I mean, I made connections with these guys. I really, like, I mean, I would say some of them are believers.
Starting point is 01:00:24 None of them are like completely aligned with who I am and whatever. But like, that's okay. Like you can still do business and you still have connections with these guys. And like, yeah, I, I've already like,
Starting point is 01:00:34 like at one point, they were asking me because they, they liked me. I think I won them over. I think they enjoyed me. At one point they're like, Brad, come up here and you give us discussions or ask questions that you have for us.
Starting point is 01:00:47 And so I did. I got up there. I was like, all I have this house that could be a deal, this house. And like, they were like grilling me
Starting point is 01:00:52 with questions. And a lot of them I didn't have answers to. But it was like, okay, that's good thing. That's the way they think about these things.
Starting point is 01:00:56 That's cool. Got it. You know, you ask about signs? What do you guys do about signs in your yard? Or neighbor's yards. I would,
Starting point is 01:01:04 I should have, I would have loved to hear these guys what they would have done. They would have, I mean, these guys are no nonsense. Like, they would go after these guys.
Starting point is 01:01:12 Like, anyway, they would just, yeah. So I didn't ask him about the signs. But yeah, had a lot of fun with them. Tahoe was super cool. I don't know. I don't have too much more to say about it besides just.
Starting point is 01:01:30 I mean, there's one story specifically. Forgive me as I preface this of like, I think it's one of those stories you had to be there for, but I'm going to try it anyway. Okay? Yeah. Can I do that?
Starting point is 01:01:39 Yeah. And it's not a bleep button story. I think we're okay. So once again, this one of the guy, the guy from Mass, who now lives in New Hampshire, uh, he cracked me up, dude, because every once in a while, it was like, oh, he's not being funny here, but it, I mean, I died. I like keeled over laughing at this. Uh, so we're at this, we went to dinner two different nights. And both times, I was like expecting to stay back at the, uh, Airbnb and just like, eat whatever was there. And they invited me, which was really kind of them. And, um, so we're sitting there.
Starting point is 01:02:10 and it's like, I mean, they go all out for these dinners. Like, they're, one of the guys there was a Somalié, and so he was ordering like these specific wines for different people and all this different stuff. And, you know, we saved room for dessert every night. You know, it was awesome. It was like appetizers, desserts, everything. And so we ordered desserts and they come out and two guys across from me
Starting point is 01:02:32 ordered bread pudding. And there were, one of the guys didn't get it yet, though. And, but Steve, the guy in the middle, who's from Mass, Steve had a bread pudding in front of him. Dramatic irony is, we all, we know now that Steve did not order bread pudding, but he's had bread pudding in front of him this entire time. And Eric's just waiting for his bread pudding, like, man, I would really love this bread pudding. And kind of jokingly like, dude, do you think we're ever going to get bread pudding?
Starting point is 01:02:56 And Steve's just kind of laughing, like, they don't have your bread pudding. That's crazy. That's crazy. And Steve's like, wait, well, do you want to have some of mine? And we're all like, wait, Steve, did you, did you even, did you order bread pudding? he just goes, no. That's the story. I didn't, I didn't sign up very well. No, I think that's funny.
Starting point is 01:03:21 I mean, yeah, it's just like, you're really successful. You're really smart, right? And you speak English, right? So you know that, like, someone needs what you have. Did you order bread pudding? Oh, no. It was just like, well, then why didn't you say something when we've been talking for like five minutes about like, I don't think that waitress is ever going to bring your bed pudding.
Starting point is 01:03:38 Man, I would love some bread pudding right now. And Steve's laughing at the jokes, kind of like halfway in the conversation. And then like, and it's not touching his bread pudding. He's like, I mean, you want some of mine? And he's like, oh, yeah, did you, did you order bread pudding? No. He's put in front of my, yes. No?
Starting point is 01:03:55 Yeah, you want some of mine? I'm not going to touch it because I didn't order it. I don't like bread pudding. I don't know why they gave me this. They must have made him. We just died laughing. Yeah. Yeah, that's pretty good.
Starting point is 01:04:06 No, he just said it that bluntly. people learned that I did a comedy podcast so the entire time they were just asking me to make jokes which is like the worst thing you can ever do to somebody and I always refused
Starting point is 01:04:19 I never once did I did I do a stand they're like surely you have a bit right now you could do I'm like I'm not gonna do a bit for you can you imagine how bad that would go Yeah like a dinner like around like at a casino or something
Starting point is 01:04:32 you have to do a stand up you name it dude you name it like I'd be driving him somewhere Brad you haven't tell a joke tell a joke Brad. Like, you know, we're outside around the fire. Like, come on, Brad. Surely you have a joke. Just give us any joke. Any joke right now. Just give us a joke. Like, I'm not, it's not going to be good if you ask for it. I promise. And I'm sure you've been funny to them the whole trip. It's not like you've been super serious. No, 100% I've been making jokes. I will say, I think, I wish they
Starting point is 01:05:00 would have never known that I had any kind of comedy background. Because every time I make a joke, they're like, oh, that's why you have the podcast. That's pretty good. Okay, that's a good joke. Now make another joke. Do another joke. Like, I'm not, I'm not just going to do jokes on command. I don't, no one does that. No, no, Dave Schoppel wouldn't do that, dude. Like, so, anyway, it was just a little bit of like a, I'm not, like, I also have a furniture business. Do you want to talk about that? Let's talk about that. So, you know. Yeah. Anyway, but it was, it was great. It was, it was a really interesting time. A lot of these guys were real estate guys. I mean, they all did some kind of real estate, but a lot of them were also like acquiring business.
Starting point is 01:05:36 which I thought was really interesting to hear about. Yeah. Because it's the same kind of process to acquire businesses it is to acquire real estate. You kind of have to analyze it different. You have to work with people, obviously. But anyway, that was kind of cool. What kind of businesses do they acquire? What like industries are they in?
Starting point is 01:05:54 Dude, that was interesting. That was part of it. It was like, you name it, dude. Like, let's see. One of the guys did like a janitorial cleaning business. Another guy is like literally delivering sod, I think. like sod delivery. One guy is doing dirt.
Starting point is 01:06:11 One guy is doing construction. Another guy just bought a hardware store in Abilene, Texas. Shout out Abilene. Some guy does insurance. A guy has like championship like jewelry, like rings and stuff that he does. A lot of guys are doing like assisted care facilities like for like older people. Anyway, just tons of different stuff. So it's just.
Starting point is 01:06:35 Oh, a guy bought a golf course in New Hampshire. So it's just like, you name it, dude. It wasn't like, oh, these guys are all right in this exact niche. It's like, oh, all over the place. So pretty fun, pretty interesting. That's cool. Dad you went. Tahoe, baby.
Starting point is 01:06:54 Yeah. On the way back, dude, once again, obviously I don't really want to do this, but I'm such a drive guy, dude. I got delayed. I was supposed to land in Kansas City, I think, at 8, clock and I didn't get into like 1.30 a.m. And I was like, this is the worst. I hate sitting at the airport. This is the worst thing ever. And just keeps getting delayed on me. I was like, I couldn't have driven. It's too far to drive there. But like I looked it up at one point. It was like a 23
Starting point is 01:07:20 hour drive. I was like too far. Can't do that. Yeah. Drive guy though, dude. I just, I hated. I hated watching it be like, your flight's delayed another, you know, 48 minutes. Oh, your flight's been changed. Oh, your flight's now getting in this time. So that was a bummer, but it worked out. Yeah. Diamond? Yeah, I know. I wouldn't have driven either.
Starting point is 01:07:51 Timon, what we have you? How's the Chick-fil-A career looking? Still haven't booked an interview, but one of these days. I haven't booked an audition. I haven't gotten an offer yet. I haven't gotten my reservation for an interview yet. Yeah, I was hoping they just offer it to me, but I'm still trying to book one. Yeah, no.
Starting point is 01:08:16 That's weird. They haven't reached out. I know. Straight. I mean, yeah. I just kind of figure, I figured this would get to them, the podcast, and then it would kind of just fall into place. But no, not yet. Go from there.
Starting point is 01:08:27 But I'll keep you guys posted. You'll get there, baby. That's funny. And where are we at with seeing you getting to hang out with you in Alabama? Oh, I'm on the spot. No, this is good because I just have been forgetting to respond to Brad. I, for at least like five to six days in there, between, it's like between the two weekends that it overlaps with, I am planning and hoping to come. Okay.
Starting point is 01:08:57 So you guys see me? Yeah. Okay. Like, let me look at the dates. Because like, I'm hoping to come. Yeah, like, maybe the 17th through the 22nd or something like that. okay that's like I think that overlaps with like pretty much pretty much everything maybe yeah is that all three sessions barely I hope so I think so yeah sweet okay lock it in
Starting point is 01:09:28 time it's coming for every session the entirety of every second that's awesome dude that's what I heard wow you're here first it's awesome yeah it's fun cool I think I'm flying straight from to New York to hang out with the sponge bather when it's over. Oh, really? Yeah. You'll be tan and white, white teeth, tan skin. Yeah. That's me.
Starting point is 01:09:56 Yep. All right, let's do our reviews of the week. We actually have so many to choose from. Which is great. I feel like between emails we've gotten, text I've received, that's actually what I'm going to go with. Brandon Myers was like, hey, I sent a review in and for whatever reason, it's not showing up. So here's my review that I sent in like three weeks ago.
Starting point is 01:10:22 I was like, hey, I'm actually really glad you texted me because I can't see it. Thanks, Brandon. Brandon says, this review is well overdue. I've been listening for at least four years now. And while I've shared clips with a bunch of people, I've never actually shared my immense amount of pleasure in the form of a review. So here we go. Part of why this podcast clicks so fast for me is how much I relate to these guys. Brad and I frequently read the same books, have kids the same age, and go through similar experiences there. Jake and I have similar preferences, experiences, opinions, and sense of humor.
Starting point is 01:10:58 That connection makes listening feel natural and familiar in the best way. I was introduced to Jake back in the Jake and Josh days. I watched all those videos and then Randley four years later decided to watch them again. after watching all of 31 days to 31K I wondered what happened to Jake when I looked him up on Instagram I found Ghostrunners and was hooked from the first episodes about selling your dog
Starting point is 01:11:20 I zoomed through the existing episodes to catch up right around the time that jean shorts was started there is very little these guys get wrong at least from an entertaining entertainment standpoint I feel like they frequently get facts wrong but don't we all that's what makes them
Starting point is 01:11:36 so relatable the games they play the segments they have the way they lead their lives as Christian men and all the stages of their life and the relationships they have and share about it on the podcast are all a great example of what it means to have fun in the life that we're given. Mondays are, oh, I thought I was saying Mondays are trash. Mondays are trash night for us. So I have many, many memories of classic ghost runners moments while I'm breaking down cardboard and taking the trash down. I've also been listening with my four-year-old Teddy in the car recently, and he loves listening to Braddard's.
Starting point is 01:12:10 and Jake, it's easy to consider these guys' friends and to put them on with kids and family around. You guys won't regret listening to this podcast. Keep it up, fellas. Time and go ahead and edit. Make sure we edit real well for Teddy this episode, please. I'll have Teddy in mind when I'm when I'm taking out some stuff. I'll never forgive myself. I'll never forgive myself of New Hampshire. New Hampshire story. My review of the week comes from Wild Griff 24. Griffey, do we think? Can't Griffey? It's been too long.
Starting point is 01:12:44 Dot, dot, dot, five stars. I've listened to Ghost Runs for long enough that I actually can't remember when I started. Must have been shortly after the first episodes as it's been a part of my listening through my teaching career, my wedding, a cross-country move.
Starting point is 01:12:56 Wow, she's a cross-country runner. And the birth of our first child. I was homeschooled through high school, keep it up, Brad and Catherine, but not shelter enough, apparently, as when I got to college, I remember friends saying, you were homeschooled, you don't act like it.
Starting point is 01:13:08 Maybe a compliment to me, or maybe an insult to the, the homeschooling community. Thanks for all the laughs and making me care about a sport I've never played, gents. And forgive me an ample opportunity to explain Midwest culture
Starting point is 01:13:18 to my Malawian husband never fails to make us laugh. Yeah, you didn't hit every checkbox of the homeschool thing, but you married a Malawian, so that's pretty homeschooled. Just, you know, marry outside the box there a little bit. I love it.
Starting point is 01:13:35 Yeah. Thank you to Wild Griff 24. That's awesome. Appreciate it. Appreciate. We got the famous salute from time. I'm just afraid to try to say anything. I know, dude.
Starting point is 01:13:51 I know that feeling. And it's tough. It's tough, dude. It's great self-awareness, but it's tough. That's right. Yeah, really think about it before you say something. All right, ghosties, thanks for sticking with us. We'll figure it out.
Starting point is 01:14:08 We'll keep going. We'll keep grinding here. Time it'll... Yeah, time it'll move. Maybe great. It looks pretty clear right now. Can we get like a three second jingle? Three second jingle?
Starting point is 01:14:19 Okay, what's something to... Brad mentioned the Lion King earlier. Maybe just like a quick, just three second Lion King. Oh, I just can't wait to be king. Thank you. Perfect. You're welcome. Love you guys.
Starting point is 01:14:36 See you Wednesday.
