Starting point is 00:00:00 All right, happy Monday ghosties. No, sorry, let me say that a little pepier. Happy Monday, ghosties. Dang it. I kind of like, I kind of like the human bullhorn. Yes, I needed that today because I saw something today that I wish I didn't. Jake, I'm sure you are very happy in Arizona. It seems like you're doing just fine there.
Starting point is 00:00:32 But I bet you miss some things about Kansas City. I bet you miss some things about your old house, maybe. Yeah. Your old neighborhood, perhaps. The one that I currently live in. I was driving home. Oh, I went to go get groceries at Aldi. Not trying to brag, but just, yeah, we're an Aldi family.
Starting point is 00:00:50 Yeah, I'm a good husband. I went this morning before recording the podcast. No problem. Dead snowball. Can I back up? This is not the thing that I saw. All right. Start a little peppier.
Starting point is 00:01:01 Ep, app, app, ep, app. Happy Monday, ghosties. I, it's a little bit dreary today, a little bit rainy outside. A little bit. Henry was very enamored by the rain today. Very excited to us.
Starting point is 00:01:14 It was rainy. I still think it's like 80 degrees, though. And I think I've, I've realized I'm worried that I married someone who is getting fooled by the rain. Tonight's the first night NFL football, fall is around the corner, but she sees rain, she thinks fall, she sees football, she's already planning some soups. She's like, I think we'll have some white chicken chili
Starting point is 00:01:40 tonight for dinner. It's kind of a rainy day. And I look and it was like 82 degrees outside. I was like, I don't think it's, I think you got, you got fooled by the rain a little bit. I'm bothered by that. Can I ask two questions? Yes. One, does NFL football start tonight? Almost positive. It's a Wednesday night. Yeah. I didn't know that. Two, is this the same part of the story where you said, I bet you miss living in your old house? Yes, I've been getting there.
Starting point is 00:02:09 Oh, okay. Sorry. Go ahead. The reason I went to all these so quickly is because she needed to do a crock pot because we're having soup tonight for dinner. She can prepare it early because it's a crock pot. How nice. White chicken chili. And so we're going to have burning hot white chicken chili with 87 degree, you know, humidity of a day.
Starting point is 00:02:25 But I really need to go get that, you know, grocery order from Aldi. before I came here. So being a good husband, did that on my way home, through the neighborhood, one street over from where you used to live, Jake. I am pulling, you know,
Starting point is 00:02:38 just driving down. And I look and see in the garage, an elderly person, getting something out of their trunk. And I was like, oh, there's an elderly person getting something out of their trunk. And then I look a little bit more. And I don't know,
Starting point is 00:02:50 I only saw it from behind. So I don't know if it was a man or a woman, you know, I feel like the older you get, the more you cut your hair, you know, pretty short. But this, this this this person 100% had a diaper on okay a diaper and no and just a shirt and oh didn't look
Starting point is 00:03:10 like the diaper was empty necessarily i don't i don't know enough about adult diapers but i to the right now like it's seared in my head and i just for probably a good three minutes just had scrunched up nose just like oh oh oh oh dude oh yeah right just like that Which house? Oh, kind of close to, we'll call it the, we call it the pink park, you know, down there. Okay. Yeah. So like, not super close to your house, but like far down.
Starting point is 00:03:40 You know, you know where the old fire engine is? Yeah. Yeah, kind of close to that house. And so they were wearing tight shorts where you can see the bulge of a diaper. Nope. I know exactly what an old person's like loose skin on their legs looks like. So. Bainty.
Starting point is 00:03:57 I mean, you know, and I'm sure that, yeah. Phoenix has its draws, but you're telling me you don't miss that a little bit, brother. Soup season with some dipes. Come on now. Did it seem like they were like, I don't know, like, were they also getting groceries? Like, had they just been in public this way? No. What was their day like?
Starting point is 00:04:16 Well, surely not. I mean, it was only like nine something in the morning. It seemed like they, oh, I got something to my trunk that I needed to go get. It was a hatchback kind of trunk. It was like a little mini SUV kind of thing. They were getting in there. Maybe just wasn't expecting to. see anybody or quite frankly didn't care, but just went in there, opened up the hatch,
Starting point is 00:04:34 got their stuff and went back inside, I think. Yeah, I could see it. I think just last week, I was already downstairs, needed something out of my car. I don't park in the garage, didn't want to go upstairs to put shorts on. I thought, these boxers look like shorts. I'm just going to be out there. You're fine. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:54 And so I'm wondering, like, if you live where time is, you can definitely go in your driveway in your underwear. If you live where Brad lives, you're risking it a little bit. I think you're risking it a little bit. Especially, yeah, like, she's in kind of a cross, you know,
Starting point is 00:05:07 a street that people drive through to get to other streets. Also, let's just go on this tangent. We'll put the theme song in eventually, but I've become more of a loose boxer guy recently, which I think does constitute a little bit of shorts wearing. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:05:25 You know what I mean? So you have, you've opened up the style. Did you go from boxer briefs to boxers? You're just saying you sized up or what? No, yeah, yeah, yeah. Boxer briefs to boxers. I always thought that they were kind of the same thing. And I'm realizing now, like, no, there's quite a bit of difference here.
Starting point is 00:05:44 Like, I'm feeling the world in the different way. You know, it might be soup season a little bit earlier, if you know what I mean. So, yeah, I don't know. And so I have felt a little more comfortable just like walking around in the box. So I don't know if that's you or not, but if it is, that's definitely shorts. I feel like the boxers to shorts comparison is kind of similar to like girls underwear versus like bikini bottoms. It's like, why is it okay for bikini bottoms?
Starting point is 00:06:14 But I can't wear my boxers to get things out of my trunk. Right. Yeah. I think that's fair. I also think, dude, there's, I don't know if you were around lifetime before you moved, but Lifetime has this thing where it's like guys can absolutely not wear like any sort of non-swimware
Starting point is 00:06:34 out into the hot tub like or into the pool or whatever. Okay. Like it has to be, it can be like Speedos, speedos are fine. Tight jammers are fine. Tight jammers. But do not wear like those like jammers.
Starting point is 00:06:48 Tight like the like the spandex things for guys. You know what I'm talking about? I've never heard that in my life. I've never heard the word jammers. Yeah. Kool-Ajammers. Speech jammers. I don't know. Fact check me on this.
Starting point is 00:07:00 Will Severn's calls him jammers, so who knows? If it's true or not. That is like the Wikipedia of 2008. I don't know. You probably shouldn't trust it. Yeah, I wouldn't. I mean, I wouldn't cite my source that way. Yeah, that's fair, dude. Dang it. Well, Severn's calls him jammers. Yeah, have I been duped.
Starting point is 00:07:18 What do you want me to Google, tight jammers? I would just look up jammers. Just look up jammers. See what comes up. Okay, jammers. Okay. the first item that comes up is Speedo Men's fast skin. Whoa. Hello.
Starting point is 00:07:31 Yeah. Swim jammer. For your wedding night. T.YR. Fizzy Jammer. It looks like that is the word for like long, weird spandex. So like no problem. You can wear those all you want, but you can't wear like boxer briefs. But I'm not going to, it's a PG at most podcast, but I'm not going to say some of the things I've seen these ladies wearing.
Starting point is 00:07:54 you've seen their tight jammies. I've seen less than that. It's ridiculous. But like, shoe lace jammies. Heaven forbid we're like, hey, I got,
Starting point is 00:08:04 you know, my compression shorts on getting into the hot tub. So anyway. I remember one time, like, yeah, the hot tub cold plunge at Lifetime
Starting point is 00:08:16 is extremely male dominated. And I would even go to say like 40 and above dominated. Yeah. And one time it looks like a high school college-age girl, I don't know, just like comes in in a bikini by herself and just plops herself in that hot tub. And I thought, how do you do it? How did you just do all that? Sure.
Starting point is 00:08:39 Yeah. That seems so un-are you not uncomfortable? I guess not. You were staring at her the whole time like, please get out. Leave. You just kept staring and staring. You're making it weird for everyone. Stop doing that.
Starting point is 00:08:54 I'm really, really uncomfortable right now. Some of these guys are creeps. Get out of here. You don't understand what people are thinking about you right now. Turn around, let me see the back. That's what I thought. They're going to lose your minds over this. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:09:16 These guys are perves. Uh, uh, oh, oh, I think this tight beat means that it's going down with some random thoughts on white. Me too. Midwest best friends eating faster. on repeat so come along let's have some fun and go ahead get on your feet because it's a ghost from his podcast. Anyway, timing, how we doing?
Starting point is 00:09:46 Pretty silent in the women's swimsuit talk. Yeah. I mean, obviously I had plenty of thoughts. I just would save him for off the pod. No, I don't know. Well, say that thing you were saying Gulf Shores with all the girls around. Or no, the girls weren't around. They just had just left.
Starting point is 00:10:02 And you're like, does anybody else? I thought I told you that in confidence. Sorry, dude. Yeah. Confidently say it again. Did I talk about on the podcast about one of the consequences for Uncle Week back in the day was one of the guys had to go around to girls and have him sign a waiver or not a waiver, a petition to make guys wear shirts all the time. Yeah. That's nice.
Starting point is 00:10:26 I think that's funny. Yeah. So that was timing. I called timing this week. I FaceTime him a couple days ago. I think I caught him applying for a job at Chick-fil-A. Yeah. Yeah, it did, it did look pretty suspicious.
Starting point is 00:10:39 I was writing, I was writing with Jesse and Alice to Chick-fil-A. They were in their Chick-Fillet uniforms. Oh, yeah. I mean, that's just the perfect setup for they're just like going to take me in to get me a job there. At this point, you might as well, you might as well just do like the thing where you're the, I don't know if they have a name for it, but like the person that just roams around and takes trash and like does refills and stuff. Yeah. And maybe like in between, like in the slow times, you can just get on your computer and do some editing and come back. Sounds perfect.
Starting point is 00:11:06 Yeah. I would love that job, by the way. If Jesse can work 12 hours a week, I think that's what he's doing right now. Surely, surely I could, you know? I could, I mean, just surrounded by mints. I mean, I just can't match anything better. Mints up to your eyeballs. I saw time at Chick-fil-A.
Starting point is 00:11:26 Oh, yeah. He ate with them accidentally. Not even on purpose. This weekend, Tyler Tong was in town. just so fun. Yeah. Henry affectionately calls him Palm.
Starting point is 00:11:40 Like, can you say Tong? He goes, Pong. And so, yeah, after he left, where Palm?
Starting point is 00:11:46 Where Palm go? And he was playing, they were playing, he wanted to play pickleball with you and Zach and Starr. And so that morning, you guys were playing
Starting point is 00:11:56 pickleball. With who? Zach, Timon, Star, just all the helpers from Kansas City. And,
Starting point is 00:12:04 afterwards I you know I and I had let Tyler Tyler borrow my truck because I was dad or Dan you know and afterwards I pull up Chick-fil-A I was like that looks like my truck that is my truck I pull up and there he was time and Zach Star Tyler Palm Palm Palm and I was not expecting you guys to sit with us because it was me and three of my four kids and had he was howdy was howdy how he this is how he's getting a little old she was like I think I'm going to stay home I don't I don't really we were going to go lifetime after Chick-fil-A lunch. She's like, I just went to the library. I kind of want to read my books and peace. I was like, okay. Fair enough. It's soup season. I'll just stay back.
Starting point is 00:12:44 Yeah, just with a nice cuddle blanket and a soup. That was fun. Fun seeing y'all. Yeah, I had a great time. I don't know why we wouldn't have eaten with you. It was awesome.
Starting point is 00:12:53 Yeah, I guess I just expected like, oh, you guys had already sat down, whatever. And you guys came one big, one big happy family with Palm. It's great.
Starting point is 00:13:02 Palm. Palm. It's so funny here I'm saying A palm What palm do We also had some visitors this weekend Rachel's brother Tommy and then his wife
Starting point is 00:13:16 Corey came and visited us Okay Day off work flew down for Liberty weekend And just helped out around the house Cooked a bunch of meals Got to meet the babe And yes With that two quick stories
Starting point is 00:13:28 One I told a story Probably three months ago About Tommy and he's got this you know, in addition to being a farmer on the side, he is like buying and reselling large lawnmowers, small tractors, has his whole like flipping business. And I talked about
Starting point is 00:13:42 do you remember the guy's name who showed up without a shirt and was scratching his back on like their tree or something? Timon, do you remember? I think it was, it was Ballou from a jungle book. He was singing and he was awesome. Brother Bear.
Starting point is 00:14:00 Was it sores with eagles? Yes. First name Soreswith. Last name Eagles on Facebook. I don't remember that. That's awesome. Okay, yeah, maybe you weren't here for that episode. This was like a Facebook marketplace deal. And, yeah, you know, Soreswith would like to connect with you.
Starting point is 00:14:17 And anyway, I won't, you know, remember all the details. And basically, I think he drove, I think he lives in South Dakota. So he drove however many hours that is, just to check out the lawnmower, but didn't bring a trailer with him. Like didn't even plan on buying it. It was like just wanted to look at it. All right. I'll be on my way. And then I think does come back a second time.
Starting point is 00:14:41 And maybe this is just over our Facebook messenger. But basically his negotiation was I still really want it. I'm not going to be able to afford it like I thought I could. But while I was at your house, I noticed you could use a little help. What if I just did some like chores, basically? He's like, I'll just come by. I'll just make like the six hour round trip. mute and I'll just like help out because like you clearly need it. And I just thought, dude,
Starting point is 00:15:07 what a negotiation that is. I'm like, I don't have money. How about I spend a bunch of time around your kids? Could I do that instead? And you're probably going to be gone a lot because you're a farmer. So, you know, but I don't mind being there all day. I'll look after the misses. Don't worry about it. So Tommy said no. Yeah. So it's already sold. Someone else has it. That's crazy. That guy went. all the way down there and then didn't buy it. Yeah, I'm pretty sure he took at least two trips. Either way.
Starting point is 00:15:38 Interesting. And then just another great name. So Tommy, I think Tommy's got a lot of Peter Casey in him. Just can't help himself. But like, you see a good deal. You have to take advantage, you know, of that deal. Yeah. So Tommy's thinking, hey, we're going to Phoenix.
Starting point is 00:15:53 Let's see what the Phoenix market's got. You know, he's looking at lawnmowers, looking at tractors. Then he dips his toes into the used car market. He finds himself a nice Jeep. It's way undervalued. He's like, I can get this Jeep and make three grand off of it. Great.
Starting point is 00:16:08 I'm going to buy this Jeep and I'll just drive it back to Iowa. Okay. So Saturday morning, he wakes up and he meets the guy. He's buying the Jeep from. This guy's name is Innes. And this is not like a Facebook name, you know, sores with. Just like Dennis without the D. Innes.
Starting point is 00:16:28 Inis, last name, Coco. Whoa. Coco. In his Coco. Co. COCO. Cool name. In his Coco. Yeah. Rachel said that would, this is 100% of name that would be in Parks and Rec.
Starting point is 00:16:41 And in Parks and Rec, he would also be like a used car salesman. It's perfect. In his cocoa. Yeah. Come in his Coco for all your rental vans. What about, you heard of Glenn Coco? Is that? Yeah, what is that from? I think it's Mean Girls. You go, Glenn Coco, you go.
Starting point is 00:16:58 Wasn't that it? That sounds right. The phrase sounds right. Who is Glenn Coco? They're passing out all the different letters, I think. Man, I don't know Mean Girls very well. But I think they're like getting letters for Valentine's Day and like, oh, three for you, Glenn Coco.
Starting point is 00:17:11 You go, Glenn Coco. You go. I could be wrong about all that, but there's something like that in some show. That's good enough for me. It sounds right. If it wasn't right, you should write Mean Girls too, I think, because it feels like it works. Okay.
Starting point is 00:17:25 Good. Mean Girls too. That's a good idea. Yeah. In his Coco. So he really did end up buying it and taking it all the way home. Yeah. honestly, you don't know if he's made it home yet.
Starting point is 00:17:36 He left on Monday, Labor Day. And he was stopping, he was kind of making an adventure out of it. So just solo road trip, stopping in Zion, stop it in Bryce Canyon, and then going home. So he, like, camped for, like, a night or two out of his Jeep. That's really fun. I love that for him. That's awesome. Man, it was great.
Starting point is 00:17:55 I was able to give him firsthand experience, like, hey, I've kind of done this. Like, I slept in and on a car in Zion. National Park. It's great. You're going to love it. You slept on. We actually did. I remember when we got to Springdale, Utah, that first night, it was just so perfect outside, and we'd been so hot. We'd been in Vegas and I think New Mexico for a while, and so, yeah, slept on the limo.
Starting point is 00:18:20 Earlier today, I woke up. After waking up, I got out of bed. Visit BetMDMDM Casino and check out the newest exclusive. The Price is Right Fortune Pick. Shortly after that, I went to the kitchen. That's where the story gets good. In the kitchen. We got all the general appliances. Bridge.
Starting point is 00:19:15 Bridge freezer combo. Stove. Dishwasher. Sink. Hot and cold water. But the thing that I gravitate to this morning and every morning. Coffee maker. Hmm.
Starting point is 00:19:32 Coffee maker. Not where I thought you were going with that. Coffee maker, dude. And when I went there, guess what I did? made. Once again, not where I thought you were going with that. Yes, dude.
Starting point is 00:19:50 I made coffee. And once I made the coffee, guess where I put it? 100% squarely, directly right dab into the middle of my mug, dude. Went mug on that thing. Mugged it up.
Starting point is 00:20:09 And guess what temperature it was? Lug warm, no. Ice cold, no. Hot and refreshing? Yes. And once I got that hot and refreshing cup, guess what I did do it? Guess what I did to it? Put my mouth all over it.
Starting point is 00:20:27 I'm talking every single into that rim. All over it. Full trombone style. Mm-hmm. All over that thing. Drink every last sip. Can I tell you why? Why is that, Brad?
Starting point is 00:20:44 Because I like coffee. Oh. Let this be a lesson for everyone listening. This man. was struck by lightning, yet he still needs the daily pick-me-up that only Main Street Roasters can provide. 12, I want to say it's 12 volts. I think every lightning check has 12 volts in it.
Starting point is 00:21:10 Yep. Which is a lot. Yep. 12 volts of lightning coursing through his veins. And he says, these veins ain't done. 12 volts less than 12 ounces. coffee equals to
Starting point is 00:21:28 10 10 12 how's that 10% off GRKC it's algebra solve for G salt for R you get 1.2 ounces for free
Starting point is 00:21:43 yeah now you're getting Nature Roaster.com GRCC best copy around gosh I'm dumb I'm sorry Masonrocer dot com
Starting point is 00:21:52 GRKZ 10% off go go go go go go go go go go go go go, go, go, now, now, now, now, now, now, now. Yep, that should do it. That'll do it. That's why they pay us the big bucks right there. I feel like you need to talk more about the limousine trip. Like, like, reflect, or not reflect on that, but like, yeah, like, you should just
Starting point is 00:22:14 reference that more often because it's such an interesting, crazy time. Like, you talked about how, like, you didn't have air conditioning and, like, I would just love to, yeah, just know more about how crazy that was and how terrible that. I mean, that's got to be so hard. Like it's just living without air conditioning. We all lost weight like 100%. Like you just sweat all the time. Yeah, it's a rough feeling to just sweat while you're driving.
Starting point is 00:22:38 Because did you roll down the windows all the time? Yes. So windows were down all the time. And I probably have told this story of the podcast, but really quickly. The reason we wanted to sleep outdoors in Zion is because we had left Las Vegas. And it was so hot. And I kind of am reminded about it a lot now in Phoenix. Like when it gets to 110 here,
Starting point is 00:22:56 the wind is no longer helpful. It's just hot air. And that's what I felt like to escape the desert of Las Vegas. It was like, even the windows down is like kind of hurt. You know, yeah, it just is so hot.
Starting point is 00:23:09 So we rolled the windows up for like a three hour drive and it got so hot in the car that my phone shut off. No way. Okay, maybe I haven't told the story in the podcast then. I don't remember it.
Starting point is 00:23:20 Yeah, looking back, it was like, dude, was that dangerous? Yes. Because I remember being miserable. You're in a sauna.
Starting point is 00:23:25 You're in a sauna at that point. Yeah. Like I remember like we didn't speak like I just sat there I just sat there miserable and just waiting to get out of the desert you sat there and sweat Yeah your phone turned off. That's crazy like you know I've my phone has turned off in my car when I accidentally leave it in there for three hours in like the dash area like but it's not supposed to turn off when you're moving And that's that's crazy. Yeah. So what temperature does it take 150? Probably 1.30 like it has to be real hot. And I understand it's not, I mean, it's, it's, you know, one tin outside plus the window effect or whatever. But still, it's like you're in a greenhouse. Yeah. That's crazy.
Starting point is 00:24:07 It was hot. And I bet we had like, I bet the fans still worked, you know, for like the air conditioning. It's just like no, no free on, no actual like cold. Which is the same thing as the windows being down. Yeah, kind of. I mean, it's not as in your face. But yeah, the, the air was moving around, but not much else. That was the only part that was truly like miserable. Like when I think about like that, that sucked. It was like a tough conversation we had to have, which maybe someday will go on the podcast, but I know you guys know it.
Starting point is 00:24:36 And then, yeah, leaving Las Vegas. And then we got to like essentially Zion. It was like such an oasis, so beautiful, perfect outside, slept on the like top of the car. That's fun. That's cool. Did you guys like, does you have like big old things of ice or anything?
Starting point is 00:24:52 Like did you try to go like just because I would think like just drink a bunch of cold water, but then you're going to have to go to the bathroom all the time. Yeah, I mean, it was typical just like single guys in their 20s, just like no, no forethought, not looking after your body, not a vegetable all summer long, you know. Did you kind of get like used to the limo, the smell, whatever, and then you would see somebody and they would come into the limo and be like, this is, this is bad. Dude, we were always so shocked that people didn't say it smelled. Because we were thinking of that, we're like, all we do is sweat in here and on these seats. And we're sleeping in here.
Starting point is 00:25:33 And then, you know, so we're like, I got to see the limbo. I've been following along. And we're like, make sure the windows are cracked before they come in. You know, like, yeah, come on in and just waiting for them. And then people were either nice or just didn't smell it. But, yeah, we were always shocked at it didn't stink more. Was it leather seats or was it cloth? I guess, yeah, more of that like, probably like vegan leather or whatever.
Starting point is 00:25:54 Yeah, yeah, yeah. Because like, that's probably better than cloth. Repel it a little bit more. Yeah. Did you guess, how'd you shower? Or what'd you do for that? So we would, I mean, once we got some videos up off the ground, we kind of, like, once we left Maine, we didn't have to sleep in the limo anymore.
Starting point is 00:26:13 I feel like we had like host families or people reaching out. Oh, yeah. Okay. You know, I was fresh off of Kanukukukuk back in that day. So I had 500 friends, you know, all over America that, you know, had friends of friends that could houses and shower. So we really only slept in the or on the limo, I think like 12 out of like the 80 days we were gone. Okay. It was a ton of the beginning. And then once we got to like the national parks, it was like this is kind of fun. I think we want to kind of sleep outside. Sure. And it was a
Starting point is 00:26:41 very hot summer until we got to, I still remember the parking lot of Yellowstone National Park, like Jackson Hole, Wyoming. And just, you know, all summer long, we haven't checked the weather. It's just hot. That's just what it is. And then. waking up like 3 a.m. and the temperature is dropped. And you're just so cold all of a sudden, just so cold. And so I remember like, but you have nothing. It's at the middle of the night, it's not like I'll just grab a blanket. Yeah. And so I would just sleep with my shirt over, you know, just trying to like use my hot breath to like warm me up. So like arms are in, legs are in and breath is in. And just like inside the limo. Yeah, inside and just trying to get
Starting point is 00:27:21 through the night and then of course we didn't sleep well we found a thrift store that opened at 6 a.m. So we went there and just like got like Ed Hardy jeans and you know whatever else would keep us warm. I've heard this phrase there's two seasons in Yellowstone. It's like August and winter. Oh that's funny. Yeah. So just always it's cold there almost all the time for what I've heard. Wow. The one I've been hearing in the Phoenix area is there's two seasons. heaven and heck oh missouri oh yeah whoa whoa okay which one are you in now i think we're on our way out of heck yeah two three more weeks maybe also i don't know no it's gonna be awesome you're gonna love it yeah anyway that's anis cocoa love it man uh i went to a parade on saturday
Starting point is 00:28:17 morning uh old settlers's day parade i don't know if you know about it Um, it is an Olathe. It is, we have a tradition of going, like growing up, I went every year. My, my, I was in the, I was a trumpet player in the band, you know, for frontier trail, a couple years. No problem. I had the tiger. Um, I did not know you ever played trumpet. Yeah. I was going to say. I heard you say that. First chair, brother. Somehow that is evaded our conversations for 11 years. Oh my gosh. No. Yeah. Me, Scott, Logan Lindahl. We were, we were in the band together. Sam Dwyer, just our, yeah, four of my, or three of my best friends of me. Trompet.
Starting point is 00:28:56 Yeah, Scott was a little trombone guy. Dibone. Yep. Yeah, Scott and Logan were trumpet players and they just had the blast. They, yeah, anyway. Which one's easier? Gotta be, got to be, I don't know. It's 100%.
Starting point is 00:29:13 It has to be. It's got to be trumpet. So trumpet has three valves, right? Like the little buttons. And you just have to press a, button and then you have to the difference with trumpet though is like it's got a smaller mouthpiece I've heard the mouth part of trumpet is different than the rest of them I can't figure it out I've tried tighter with the the mouth versus like a trombone it's bigger mouthpiece so you can be a little more
Starting point is 00:29:35 but trombone dude I have no idea how they would know how far to take it where to stop yes that seems so relative how do you even teach that so that sounds so hard to me like just be like No, you're one centimeter off of this thing, you know? Kind of like violin or anything like that. I had the same thought. You have violin or like frontless bass and guitar or stuff like that? Like, I don't know how you learn it. So I think trumpet's got to be easier.
Starting point is 00:30:05 But I don't know. Being first chair trumpet versus probably like fifth sixth chair for, you know, Scott on trombone was probably a little harder for me. I don't know. Yeah, anyway, but Old Souther's Day parade happens the weekend after Labor Day every year. So we went this weekend. And guess what? The weekend after Labor Day is next weekend, brother.
Starting point is 00:30:24 Yeah, I was going to say. So we're hustling out the door. I'm like, hey, we're having cereal on Saturday because we've got to get to the parade because it's like a lot of crazy parking. It's cereal Settlers Day. Come on, everybody. Oh, they're so excited. They bring their little bags for all the candy they're going to gather up.
Starting point is 00:30:41 And I'm getting closer. Like I exit the highway, I'm like, oh, usually, you know, even at the exit, it's kind of crazy traffic. And I'm getting closer. I'm like, man, and old settlers has really gone downhill. There's like no one here. country. And my dad had texted me like this week and been like, hey, just a reminder, you know,
Starting point is 00:30:55 old settlers is next weekend. So I'm like, okay, yeah, we'll be there. You know, it sounds great. Yeah. And we're pulling up. It's the 250th settler celebration. Come on. This is weird.
Starting point is 00:31:04 I don't know what's going on here. And I call my dad. I'm like, hey, where are you? He's like, I'm at home. Where are you? I was like, is the old settlers parade? And of course, it doesn't make sense to have it on Labor Day weekend. No, like, that's like a classic, like, get out of town weekend.
Starting point is 00:31:20 You know, but boy, was it a, yeah, fail of a dad or day for me. So end up going to the library and then ended up going to Chick-fil-A with Palm and went to Lifetime pool afterwards. It was fun. But yeah, just kind of a funny, like, I mean, yeah, just hustled out the door. It was like, all right, eat quick. Come on. We got to go.
Starting point is 00:31:42 Then we get there and there's no one. And it was just such a weird feeling of like, what in the world? You know? Probably two weeks ago. I had it on my like to-do list like I'm going to go get a teddy's birth certificate I just don't want to forget about that I'm going to get it done I'm going to get done this Friday and so I go drive all the way there it's not super close and as it pulling in I mean it is the most empty parking lot you've ever seen not even like a straggler of a car anywhere I mean it is just barren and I was like I guess they
Starting point is 00:32:14 make the workers park off site for the place it is funny like when you think like all the things that do enter your mind and you rationalize everything. You try to justify it. Yeah. Okay, they must be parked directly opposite of me in the building. I wouldn't think a worker here could afford a nice Cadillac. But okay, interesting. And yeah, I drove to a government building on a Saturday and was shocked they weren't open.
Starting point is 00:32:39 So you're like, all right, I'm going to make sure I get this thing done. And so Monday, first thing in the morning, I go over there. First Monday of September. I'm going. I don't care. Yeah, come hell or high water, come heck or high water. I'm getting there, man. And they were also closed, yeah.
Starting point is 00:32:56 But yeah, I think getting Friday and Saturday confused a week after having a kid, sure, no problem. I'll do you one better. Isaac McDonald gets into town about a week ago. He's been traveling for a long time. And it's Friday morning. And so we go to the compound. We're going to do some pickleball training.
Starting point is 00:33:15 And one of the wives there is like opens up her window. It's just a beautiful scene. The birds are chirping. Hey, good morning, guys. How are you doing? Hey, we're doing good. Good to see you. What are you up to today?
Starting point is 00:33:24 She goes, oh, we're doing kind of a homeschool reset day. And Isaac goes, hey, Monday morning. I get it. We're all kind of like waiting for him to like acknowledge it. And then we're like, do you think today's Monday? He goes, what day is it? We go, it's Friday. Oh, my.
Starting point is 00:33:40 You got it completely backwards. Even after you like questioned him, he was like. Well, then he was like, wait, what day is it? Yeah. Oh my. Thought it was Monday. It was Friday. I thought you were going to say Tuesday.
Starting point is 00:33:53 Yeah, no, that's bad. Like truly opposite. He did fly into town the evening before. And I think it is easy. Like when you fly back home, it's always Sunday night when you fly back home. The next day is your first day. Yeah, first day back. Must be Monday.
Starting point is 00:34:10 Must be Monday. That's when you know you're an entrepreneur. That's when you know you don't have a normal job. Yeah. Like is when you don't know what day is. it is when you're not that excited about Saturdays. I mean, you're fine with Saturdays, but sometimes it's like,
Starting point is 00:34:23 there's going to be a lot more traffic today. Yeah. I mean, even Labor Day. We woke up, we started shooting at 6.30 a.m. on Labor Day. Like, well, it's going to, it's Monday, so we've got to work. And also, it's going to get hot later.
Starting point is 00:34:33 So it doesn't matter. Labor, they call it Labor Day for a reason. Let's get to work. Yeah, I've learned to ask Catherine, like, what are your expectations for me today? Because in my head, I'm like, this is no different than Thursday.
Starting point is 00:34:46 I could take off next Thursday, just fine. I don't have to take off today, do I, you know. But sometimes she'll say, I'd like it a little bit more of a chill day in the morning with you, you know. Yeah. Yeah, that was good. Hey, Monday morning, I get it. Well, that's so good. It's Friday, dude. Let's see. Why does coconut get to call it meat inside? It's on my list of things to talk about. I didn't, I wasn't aware of that. Oh, no? Yeah. I think they call like the coconut shavings are shavings of coconut meat, I believe. It does sound kind of familiar. I think I've heard that. It doesn't make sense. Are there other,
Starting point is 00:35:31 because coconut's a fruit, right? I think. It's definitely one of the two. Yeah, 100% is a fruit or a vegetable. Yeah. Yeah. So yeah, is that the only fruit that gets that privilege? I would love for somebody that has the way of knowing to figure it out, but I don't know. Coconut is a fruit. But the stuff that you don't, why is it meat? Because it's inside of something? Like, is that really thing like that? Yeah. Like is banana, is that banana meat?
Starting point is 00:36:00 Surely not. Careful with those jokes. Yeah, I hope not. Like, but like, yeah, coconut. I'll be honest. The reason I'm thinking about it is because as a dad, you listen to a lot of kids songs, Moana, they talk about,
Starting point is 00:36:13 consider the coconut, trunks in the leaves. Or they say, we get on the, Put the lime in the coconut meat. Do you know this song in time? I'm trying to think of, we use the meat. There's something, I've heard, I know this song.
Starting point is 00:36:26 Use the meat for the fire. Something like that. Yeah. Yeah. Anyway, they talk about, they use every part of the coconut tree. And they talk about the meat. And I'm like, that shouldn't be meat. No.
Starting point is 00:36:36 It should just be substance. I don't know what you call it. That reminds me. Coconut is not the only fruit that uses the word meat. All right. All right. Let's try to think of them. Do we know these other fruits?
Starting point is 00:36:51 Mango. Mango meat? It just sounds nice. That's what man meat is. Anybody want some man meat? Mango meat. Right. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:37:01 It's saying other melons. Okay. No way there's watermelon meat. Melon meat? I don't know. I don't know about the specific melon. All right. But there's one other large, you wouldn't think of this as a fruit, but it's a big one.
Starting point is 00:37:15 And I think you can call this meat. It's the most meat, like, more than coconut. Okay. I mean, I'm thinking of a big fruit. I'm thinking pump. Yes. Pump meat? Pumpkin meat.
Starting point is 00:37:27 Why is that? Why is that okay to be meat? Oh, it's gross. Yeah, that doesn't mean it's meat. It's sloppy. It's disgusting, dude. Coconut is nice and neat. I was like borderline, like, it was like almost nightmarish to see that stuff in there.
Starting point is 00:37:43 Like I was, I was such a wist with that stuff. I was like, I don't touch that. I'm not. I'm not getting that out. The pump meat. Yeah, that's gross. Pump meat, huh? Also, now this feels like we're really stretching things.
Starting point is 00:37:57 Walnuts and pecans. Now, obviously, that's not a fruit. That's a nut. But walnuts and pecans also have edible inner portions referred to as meat. No, I don't like this. The nuts can't get milk and meat. It's too much. Yeah, right.
Starting point is 00:38:12 It's like they're not animals. We're acting like they're animals these days. This weekend I was hanging out with staying at a dairy farmer's house. And the mom of this household, me and my friends that were that I was with would like to kind of, you know, rage bait as the, as the Gen Zs say her and be like, bring up like almond milk and coconut milk. And every time she's like, it's, it's coconut juice. You can't milk a coconut. It's like funny to hear like a dairy farmer's perspective on that. Like, you can't call it milk because you can't milk it.
Starting point is 00:38:50 That's so funny. The only person I've heard speak out of me about that is Steve Coot. Yeah. The agamately. What's the different? We got coconut milk. That's not natural, though. As in, like, the stuff that comes out is coconut water, right?
Starting point is 00:39:06 Well, I was thinking this weekend, I was like, well, coconut, if you look at it, it looks kind of furry, so maybe it is a mammal. That was my theory. Because it doesn't lay eggs. They seem to come in pairs. bears. Yeah. Like mammary glands. Which makes you a mammal.
Starting point is 00:39:24 Yeah. Gosh. I'm just reminding that one time. Just happened to be shortly after you got married that you accidentally called the Disney Princess Ariola. Which if there was every time I was going to do that slip off, it would be now.
Starting point is 00:39:40 Can't believe it happened then. Yeah, dude. Crazy. How's Teddy? Give us a teddy up. Crazy. I don't know. I'm not going any farther than you're going with that.
Starting point is 00:39:56 Crazy. Anyway, baseball. You can expand on it if you want, but I'm not going to. Hey, guys. Hey, Jake. Chime it up. Chime it up, baby. Chime it up because we're talking about cozy earth.
Starting point is 00:40:12 Chime time. Uh-oh. Uh-oh. It's chime o'clock. And when you hear those chimes, you know one thing, it's time to wake up and it's got to be tough. You've got to get out of your cozy earth bed sheets. What am I describing? I'm talking about the perfect lifestyle that you could have.
Starting point is 00:40:32 If you get the cozy earth bed sheets, I mean, get whatever you want, but that's what we'd recommend. Yes, they're more expensive than a t-shirt. No, we don't make any extra money if you buy the bed sheets instead of the t-shirt. We just think that's where you're going to be happiest. Well, it's like a t-shirt covers up the top of you. bed sheets cover up every single inch of you if you go over your head with it. Yeah. You go cocoon style.
Starting point is 00:40:55 You might wake up and be a beautiful butterfly. Here's a true story. This week, Bo. This has nothing to do with true like cozy earth sheets, but he was in the cozy earth sheets this week because he had a nightmare, came and slept in bed with us, woke up around 7 a.m. We're still, Catherine and I are still sleeping.
Starting point is 00:41:14 And I just hear this like commotion. And Bo was in the middle of both of us sleeping. and Bo thought it was a good idea to go out of the foot of the bed. And so, like, tried to crawl through the foot of the bed. But our sheets are cozyer sheets, nice and tough and tucked into the bed. And so Bo just got stuck in the bottom of the bed. There's your nightmare. There's your cocoon right there, dude.
Starting point is 00:41:39 That's a cocoon for you. And he said, Dad, thank you for saving me, but honestly, I didn't need saving. I was actually really comfortable in those cozy or sheets. He's like, are these viscos from bamboo? I said, yes, they are, son. Yes, they are. Yes, they are. Did you pay a full price for these, Dad?
Starting point is 00:41:55 No, sir. No, 20% off site wide. GRKC, please. Please. Gozier.com slash ghost earners, 20% off GRKC. Teddy Update. Honestly, Rachel's been texting me a lot this morning. Rachel's just great.
Starting point is 00:42:10 I mean, just spends all day long at the hospital. What more could you ask for? Yeah. From, you know, wife and mother. So she texts me updates. He's doing good day. Yeah, actually had kind of a borderline rough day yesterday, which is okay because he hasn't really had many rough days. And even the nurse was like, if this is his roughest day, he's doing just fine.
Starting point is 00:42:31 What constitutes a rough day? We felt like we had moved on from like, okay, he's a breathing champion. Get him off the C-Path. He doesn't need oxygen help because you can always see his vitals. His oxygen levels always look so good. and then yesterday for whatever reason just wasn't breathing that good. Okay.
Starting point is 00:42:51 So still working on, suck, swallow, and breathe all the same time. Yeah, sucks well breathe. We're trying to figure out, you know, just this place has got a million nurses and they each do things differently.
Starting point is 00:43:04 They're all great, but recently, I don't know if we're just, we've been there so long that they feel more comfortable, but here's a few things we've learned. One, we think that giving a pre-me a bath
Starting point is 00:43:16 might be one of their least favorite tasks because every nurse seems to pass this on to the next nurse. They'll be like, Teddy's bath, Tuesday, 5.30, great, I'm going to get there early and make sure I don't miss it. And they go, I was look at them. I think you just do 8.30.
Starting point is 00:43:31 You know, they switch over nurses at 7 p.m. So I think she's passing this on. You come back at 8.30. He goes, honestly, he looks great. I think in the morning would be the best bath time. They really upset some, and he's sleeping really well. So let's just keep him sleeping. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:43:45 You know, so that happened, I think, last week and this week where it's like they seem to push off the bath. And then one of the nurses this week was like, yep. I mean, she's like confessing. You know, she's like, the rule is he should bathe every three days, but hey, I don't see why I can't push it to four. And it's like, don't bring me into the, you're acting like we're on the same page. Like, hey, it's fine, right? Like, if I had your job, I wouldn't break the rules. And if I was, I wouldn't tell the parents I'm breaking the rules. I know it's not probably a big deal. But, you know, but. but it's just kind of funny.
Starting point is 00:44:17 It's like, can we just go, can we go buy the book for Teddy? Is that okay? Is that too much to ask? You're like, I don't know enough to stop you, but also I don't want you to not do the right thing.
Starting point is 00:44:29 Yeah. I know enough to do the right thing for my kid. I love them enough. So yeah, like I said, it's probably not a big deal. But then a very similar thing happened last night. So I,
Starting point is 00:44:37 I really enjoy bottle feeding because it kind of does feel like a game. And maybe even even with a normal newborn, it would probably be difficult. But, you know, just try. to get it all to come together.
Starting point is 00:44:49 He's got to be awake enough. He's got to open his mouth. He's got to remember to suck and know how to swallow it. It's fun to feel like you can kind of manipulate it and try and like get it to work. You know, it's like kind of just like roleplay a little bit. You know. Like a bartender. I'm shaking.
Starting point is 00:45:11 Yeah, you start like using like a like northeastern accent. Like what do you have tonight, Ted? Dead. The usual. You look a little dirty today. No bath. No bath. No bath.
Starting point is 00:45:26 Sox lost another one in the ninth last week. Tough times. It's almost pat season though, huh? But, and this is very subjective, so to speak, but like you watch him very up close and you kind of see the amount of sucks. And you kind of get a sense of like how much. much he's drank. And then later, you get to hear how much he drank. Hey, you got four milliliters. Hey, you got five milliliters. So you kind of start to learn suck to milliliter ratio. Okay. So last night, we're just right in the pocket. We're right in the sweet spot.
Starting point is 00:46:01 Oh, he's going for the Guinness World Record. I'm pretty sure. This is amazing. I mean, he's doubling anything I've ever seen him do before. Yeah, yeah. And then the nurse goes, all right. Okay, he got one millimeter. And that's okay. It's good to keep trying. I was like, I know I'm a new nurse around here but I feel like that was that was double digits and then she was like well the other nurse was the one and she filled it up let me go talk to her
Starting point is 00:46:25 the other nurse comes in she goes oh yeah I gave him a little extra so it was more than one minute later I'm like what are we doing with the extra the extra he can't wait wait I'm confused like he's supposed to only drink a certain amount and this nurse was like
Starting point is 00:46:40 oh I just went ahead and gave him a few extra I just fibbed a little bit kind of like a bath you know they say every three I'm going to go four They say 45 milliliters for him. They say 45 milliliters. I gave him a half a gallon. He's hungry. Yeah, that's wild. It's like, I know this is like really sensitive. Like, like, he could like easily like just yak this all up if he has too much. But let's just test it out.
Starting point is 00:46:59 Come on. Once again, I'm sure it's not a big deal because they wouldn't do it if it wasn't, if it was dangerous. But once again, it's just funny that they so openly admit to like, oh, yeah, I just kind of went off of my own there. Yeah. It's why they call it a practice, not a whatever, you know. They practice medicine because it's like, it's changing all the time, dude. But no, all things are good. Teddy's doing good.
Starting point is 00:47:23 You sent a picture of him to one of the fantasy football group chats or whatever. And obviously I knew he was small, but man, he's small. Like he's like such a, I mean, preciously tidy, like, which is how Hattie was. Haddy was born for, like, she was born five pounds, but then by the time she went out at the hospital, she was four or something because she lose a little bit weight, you know, first couple days. She was discharged at four pounds something? Yeah, like basically five. Like, whatever.
Starting point is 00:47:50 Isn't there 16 ounces in a pound? Yes. So I think she was like 415 or something. So bulky 415 though. All in the thighs, dude, she's water. But I just remember like a total hot water. Yeah, you hold her like a football almost. She's a unit.
Starting point is 00:48:07 Yeah, I don't know. It's just like crazy how small they are at first. I think when they got when they're out and you're doing the diaper changes, it's like, yeah, that looks like a normal sized baby. That looked too bad. But then when you go full swaddle, it's like, dude, I've eaten a Chipotle burrito this size. How are you a scale of 1 to 10 as far as swaddling goes? It's not one of my strong suits.
Starting point is 00:48:27 I don't know. It's so hard. And just, I'm a gentle guy in general. You'll never hear the sound of my water bottle being set down on a table. You know, I just, everything's silent with me. I'm very gentle in nature. So it's hard for me to even like wipe him. And I'm sure I'll get used to this, but I'm just, I'm very careful and very just.
Starting point is 00:48:45 You are so gentle. That's a great word. You are, dude. Like, just the way you like, yeah, just put stuff down or like, even like the way you drink something. Like, just go for it, bro. That is such a good word. Yeah. Here's a word of advice for you that I didn't learn until, I don't know, six months ago myself, fourth kid.
Starting point is 00:49:08 When you're wiping, use you, or sorry, when you're changing the diaper and it's a dirty one. Sorry, this is gross for people listening. It's not whatever. It's poop. You're fine. We're talking about your neighbor. Okay, let's just assume it's peanut butter. Oh, he got peanut butter somehow all over. Okay. So when you open up the diaper to change him,
Starting point is 00:49:28 and maybe this is a terrible piece of advice. You can look it up and chat GPT. You'll say, nope, don't do that. You'll give him a rash, whatever. Use the diaper as the first wipe. Yep. You know this time in? I didn't know this. I know this. I've seen this. I saw it from Catherine.
Starting point is 00:49:44 I was like, no, whoa. I've been an eyewitness to this. You didn't show me. I probably had it done to me. You didn't show me first, first wipe dipe yet. What is this? And all of a sudden, dude, I'm down to one wipe, one wipe per peanut butter now. I used to be, I mean, first time dad, dude, seven wipes, maybe eight.
Starting point is 00:50:03 Like, it's crazy how many wipes you go through. But like, now I'm like bringing on. Maybe I'll use two every once in a while just to be extra thorough. But yeah, anyway, one, first, first wipe dipe. Hashtag. I will say that is. one of the many advantages of the NICU is you get to you learn these strategies from the nurses. So that's that's how they taught me. Okay. Yeah. See. Open up and just kind of take take it, take it
Starting point is 00:50:24 down. Take it with you as you take it down. Yeah. I think we need to have a few merch items that are going to go towards Teddy's NICU fund. Take it with you as you take it down. Uh, suck swallow breathe. Uh, yeah. Suck swallow breathe. Just in big letters. Sucks swallow breath. I think I want to like I don't know. When I see other people with the wristband, I'm like, yo, where my NICU's at?
Starting point is 00:50:50 What up? My NICUs. What's up? Nicky, please. Where my NICU's at? Oh my. That's so good.
Starting point is 00:51:01 So that could be merch. Yeah, where my NICUs? Yeah. Nick, Nicky, please. Nicky please. Timon,
Starting point is 00:51:09 you got any ideas for that one? You were saying one earlier, I think. Maybe, yeah, you were saying Nickyew. I think so. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:51:16 Oh, that's what you thought. Yeah, yeah, yeah. If we, like, be going on, like, a trip or we want to take Teddy to Europe or something, like, Nicky's in Paris. You can do something like that. We go with another family. Yeah. Yep, those are good.
Starting point is 00:51:31 Good merch. Yeah, good merch ideas. So check them out, ghostrunners. That life slash shop. Oh, my. Somebody would buy that and thinking, like, that is so good. That is so cute. and somebody's mom would be like
Starting point is 00:51:46 or somebody's kid would be like, mom, what are you wearing? It's supporting Teddy. Oh my. That is nice. I literally woke up this morning to someone Venmoed me and Rachel $20. They're just like,
Starting point is 00:52:01 spin it on something fun for you guys and Teddy. So thank you for those who've done that, but you really don't have to. We've hit our deductible. This is Blue Cross Blue Shields burden at this point. Yeah. I think we hit her deductible before I even left Gulf Shores.
Starting point is 00:52:18 So, you know, this is on them now. Yeah, unless you have a very high deductible. Yes, I would say so. Yeah, you hit your deductible at the moment you, they put the bracelet on her probably. Yeah. That bracelet's $8,000 right there. So, all right, I don't want to be too dramatic.
Starting point is 00:52:36 But, and so, so I genuinely want you to hear me, as I preface it. I don't want to be too dramatic. But something happened to me this week, this weekend. and I think it's real. I said earlier, I was like, I don't want to be too dramatic. And, or howdy's like, yeah, but you're being
Starting point is 00:52:52 completely dramatic with this. So, Sunday night, well, we were going to grill some burgers, good ranchers burgers, Wagobee. And I go and preheat the grill. And then I go out to my car to go put something in my truck,
Starting point is 00:53:08 and then I had my water bottle with me. Anyway, kind of nasty weather outside. kind of overcast weather and probably, you know, sounded like a ways in the distance, but a pretty good sounding like, like pretty good thunder clap. But it was like, it was not raining yet.
Starting point is 00:53:28 It was just kind of like this, like, whatever, just kind of red sky kind of thing. And I'm not exaggerating. It sounded like there was, so all of a sudden lightning, thunder, boom. I mean, it sounded like an M80 in my back. backyard. Whoa.
Starting point is 00:53:45 To the point where I, I don't think I said a word, but I think I said most of the word. Kind of like a Gen Z thing. I'll just put it at that. Okay. Ah! That's what I said, basically. And I had my big, large Yeti water bottle, like my big metallic Yeti water bottle on my hand, kind of like threw it up in the air and like ran inside, like sprinted inside.
Starting point is 00:54:08 And I'm not exaggerating. I think I got a little bit struck by lightning. Okay. I haven't looked into it at all yet. I don't know if it's like, how close can you be to a lightning strike or is it just like, like, is there such thing as river? But like, after I got inside, Catherine could tell. She's like, you look shell-shocked.
Starting point is 00:54:26 You look, like you look like something's bothering you. It felt like I didn't have any gel in my hair. That's important for this because my hair was very like loose and staticy anyway. But I could feel it in like the back right portion of my head a little bit. Like it felt like, I was like, is my hair sticking up a little bit back here? And Catherine's like, it looks like, it looks like. looks as ridiculous as it always looks. But, um, and I,
Starting point is 00:54:48 I like later on that night, I felt some other side effects. I don't know. I'm not going to say too much, but let's just say I wear boxers and not boxer briefs and something was interesting down there. I don't know. I don't know what was going on, but I was like, is that because of the lightning or is that just random because I'm 35?
Starting point is 00:55:03 But like, I, I, I think there was something. I, I don't know, dude. It, it was like, it was so loud. I didn't see the lightning. But it sounded like it truly was probably like, across the street that it hit or something like that. Wow. I can't remember one being that close in my life.
Starting point is 00:55:20 I just saw a video a few days ago. It was like, look at this golfer, get struck by lightning. A golfer was like filming himself on the range, like his swing. And him being struck by lightning, it's not what I thought. It wasn't like you see this white piercing thing
Starting point is 00:55:34 go through his body. It was just like, oh, it struck really nearby him and kind of startled him. And he was kind of like, well, my hand feels funny. Really? So I think that, I was like, oh, if we could post it, he got struck by lightning.
Starting point is 00:55:46 I think you got struck by lightning. That's what I'm saying. Like, I don't think I truly, like, got obviously affected. Like, but it was like one of those like reverber. I don't know. Like if you're close enough to the strike. Yeah. Like static electricity, like definitely spreads.
Starting point is 00:55:59 Like, every day I take creatine. And that, like, the static of that is like bouncing all around and everything. That's the same as lightning. It's got a radius of some sort, right? Yeah. Like a blast radius. That's what they call. That's what that's for is a strike of lightning.
Starting point is 00:56:12 Right. Um, anyway, dude, like, I didn't feel right the rest of the night. I like, like, I was kind of like, shaky a little bit on my hands. And I was like, is that just because I'm like, but I didn't know if it was because I truly got like messed up from the lightning or because I was like pretty startled. Like I was, I got. Yeah. I got more scared than I've gotten in a long time. Like, I was like, I thought I was going to die.
Starting point is 00:56:34 I like ran inside. Um, so anyway. I don't know. I'm looking this up right now. trying to try to figure this out time do you ever been sharp by learning? I don't know I don't think so but that
Starting point is 00:56:46 it does sound scary I mean because it sounds like you heard because thunder is just lightning the sound of it delayed it sounds like you just heard it as lightning you heard lightning you didn't hear thunder yes dude it was like
Starting point is 00:57:00 yeah it was different you know like it's like a little you can just tell when it's a little bit different where it's close to you and it's like oh snap that one was that one hit something I don't know who it but anyway my neighbors that it sounded like it was really close to their house they didn't seem to affected so that's why I'm a little bit like maybe I'm just a wuss and I just got scared but but maybe it
Starting point is 00:57:18 struck your yard yeah I was holding this yeti water bottle too like I was holding it by the plastic end but you know those yety bottles are like completely metallic yeah I don't know if that had something to do with it too flew it up in the air I mean there's a million possible symptoms for getting struck by lightning but electricity does travel outwards through the ground ground current, or can jump from a nearby object like a tree to you, which is called side splash. It's got fun. Side splash is cool.
Starting point is 00:57:50 But honestly, I wonder if it, like, it struck nearby and maybe it did. The static electricity traveled to your Yeti water bottle. Maybe if I didn't have that plastic top on there, I wouldn't be here right now, talking to you. Good thing. I'm gel in. You were in the splash zone. That's crazy. My splash zone.
Starting point is 00:58:07 Well, I feel like, I mean, you got more struck by lightning than anyone else I've ever heard tell me about their personal interaction with lightning. I mean, it sounds like you got struck. Yeah, I think that's why I'm willing to give it to you. I'm like, I've never heard of me on getting this close before, so you can have it. I think you deserve, like, if we're playing two truce in a lie, you deserve for that to be a truth. I don't know about that. That's a little extreme. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:58:32 Yeah, anyway, I just, like I said, I was trying to preface. I'm not trying to be too dramatic. Or I think I was genuinely, something affected me. And your two truth and a lie, you could say, I have been shocked by lightning. Because it sounds like you felt the effects like it, like it both like, seems like it physically shocked you. And it just, you were shocked anyway. So you could kind of explain it that way if people doubted you. It would be funny in two true, true said a lie to have like two like very just like concrete direct sentences.
Starting point is 00:59:00 And the third was like, third, I'm pretty sure I got struck by lightning. Like, all right. That would definitely sound true. yeah you can oh that's the worst when they do the two truths in the line it's like i wasn't struck by lightning i was shocked by lightning all right dude yeah don't clickbait people in two truce and a laugh no that's not scott on trombone it's the uh that's the noise you get whenever you buy that nasty gross
Starting point is 00:59:35 store meat. Right? They do. They put the gross and grocery store. I never thought about that. They really do, dude. Nice,
Starting point is 00:59:45 subtle undertone of trombone. That was very, going in the back. You are a gentle man. Yeah, that was a trombone from a few streets over. But it is sad.
Starting point is 01:00:01 It's sad if you're putting the gross and grocery store and buying things that are a little, a little go ahead and say it well here's what I'll say what happened the last time
Starting point is 01:00:12 we tried to cook something up in a lab I don't know let me answer that with the other question what happened to you in March of 2020 now let me ask you final question do you want to keep supporting people making things out of a lab
Starting point is 01:00:27 do you want your meat to have a little injection from a lab do you want your chickens to be oh they're extra big because we do a little something Those chickens kind of look like bats. What the heck? Ah, chicken of the rail yard.
Starting point is 01:00:40 No, you don't want that. You don't want bat meat. You want the actual animal. That's what good ranchers provides. It tastes great. It's good for you. Shows up right to your door, so it's very convenient. Get the chicken box.
Starting point is 01:00:54 That's what I do. Get the chicken box. I've been really into the ground beef lately. We've been having burgers. We've been having meatloaf was I couldn't remember last week. I think there's a people are sleeping. on meatloaf. People are hating on meatloaf. Try a nice meatloaf recipe with Good Ranchers meat and tell me it's not amazing. Last night, it was a beautiful thing. We had flat iron steaks on a Tuesday night.
Starting point is 01:01:17 Just because we had Good Rancher's steaks at home and it was awesome. It was so good. Guess how many leftovers? Spoiler it. Nill, dude. Nill, zero, zilch, Zed. So go to Good Rancher.com, get there no additives, no antibiotics, no antibiotics, no hydro hormones, none of that stuff. Okay? Just straight organic. GRKC is our promo code. Please order. And when you order, please use our promo code because it helps a lot for us.
Starting point is 01:01:46 So good arranger.com American meat delivered. Back to the zone. That's good. That's good. Next week is our family. turn to do what's called a family presentation in the co-op, the homeschool co-op we go to. Wow. And apparently it's kind of open-ended as far as like what you can do.
Starting point is 01:02:16 You can just introduce yourselves and show your favorite book. You can do all this stuff. And we had some fun last night trying to think of different things we could do. And I would love to get your guys' input slash ideas from you. Sounds like I'm not expected to be there. I don't think I was there the first time we did this. I know I've never been there for this. but Catherine's like, it'd be fun if you went.
Starting point is 01:02:37 And so, of course, if we're going to do it and I'm going to be there, I want to do something original. So I first, I probably joked 10 times. Eventually, Catherine was like, okay, I think the joke's over, that we should do a rap. Catherine did not want to do a rap. Man, you should do a rap, though. Right?
Starting point is 01:02:58 If nothing else, people would remember it. Yeah. And I've been to CC one time, and it was like, okay, it's a little bit of a slow, like, beginning here. You got to keep people's attention. So I was like, we got to get something interactive. And so apparently a really popular thing is like everyone puts something in a bag and you pull out something from the bag.
Starting point is 01:03:17 It's like a favorite thing from that family or that kid in the family. And you have to guess the audience has to guess who brought that thing. You know. Okay. I was like, and of course my kids were wanting to do the same thing. How do you want to do two truths and the lie. I was like, come on. Let's let's think outside the box.
Starting point is 01:03:34 Let's wrap first. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I was like, we could do a riddle, you know, like almost like a reverse of like, what did we bring in the bag? Let's do a riddle. Can you guys guess what this thing is? Yeah. You know, we brainstormed and thought about if each of us were a character in Space Jam, what would we be? Which was pretty fun.
Starting point is 01:03:55 Bo's like, you're Michael Jordan because you never miss any basketball shots. And I'm like, yeah, man, that's right. Rose would be Lola Bunny Haddie would be bugs Bugs Bo's trying to be like I think I would be I don't know Maybe I would be this bro like Bo be honest
Starting point is 01:04:12 Your porky pig We all know your pork pig And here would be a Tasmanian devil What did we say for Catherine? Gather would be Michael Jordan's wife Catherine is Bill Murray Yeah Catherine's Bill Murray No I said Catherine was Foghorn
Starting point is 01:04:27 Leghorn the guy that's the southern you know, southern one. Anyway, but I'm trying to think of something more fun and like memorable, but also like attention grabbing. How long you have? I don't know, probably five minutes. But I don't think you have to take up all. I think it's like go quicker rather than,
Starting point is 01:04:44 I just think if you can interact with them and keep their attention, I'm sure you could go as long as you want. Visit BetMDM casino and check out the newest exclusive. Starting point is 01:05:25 custom. All right, we did this back in the studio back of the day, that game where it gives you a beat and you have to say like, rock socks rock socks rocks whatever that's fun and make your own everyone's into it and then you know you start with the normal ones and then it gets into whatever you would like to share oh that's kind of fun or you share it first you're like hey you know i'm the dad of the family so i'm rock solid i'm the mom so i do and i always wear socks i love socks yeah say the world on the beats kind of fun
Starting point is 01:06:00 I kind of like that. Okay. Kids and adults both like that. Yeah. Yeah. What did I say the other night that Catherine was like, the moms would like that? And I was like, that's fun.
Starting point is 01:06:11 Like, to make it funny for them? Can't remember now. I think it was a rap. I think the moms would like to wrap. Yes, dude. The rap would be awesome. I tried to give an example to them. And whatever.
Starting point is 01:06:24 Oh, Catherine had another idea of like, explaining all the different, we kind of do whatever you want to call. chance. That's probably not the right word for him. But like the different things we say in our house. Like, um, one of them, you know, we, I, we do the camp thing where I'm like, all right, the time is currently 705. The kids will yell, what time? 75. We're all going to be pajamas and brush teeth by 715. What time? You know, um, due to that one. I do one where we get in the car. You know the song? Jump around. Um, yeah. House of pain. It starts with buckle up, buckle in. Let's
Starting point is 01:07:00 Let me begin. So I go buckle up, buckle in. Let me begin. And then they say Romans 323, all that have sinned. That's pretty good, huh? I'm trying to teach them a little gospel every time we get in the car. That's awesome. I don't know.
Starting point is 01:07:17 There's got to be other creative things. I just, I'm like, I refuse to just do what other people have done. Yeah. Always fun to spin a colorful wheel. We have the colorful wheel. Yeah, that's a good idea. Dang, that's a great idea. that's a fun idea.
Starting point is 01:07:32 It's like we could all present. There's immediately stakes. People love stakes. That's fun. Yeah. Oh, that's really fun. Yeah. Yeah,
Starting point is 01:07:42 you're right. Colorful wheel. We got to incorporate the wheel. They would love that. The colorful wheel just says rock, socks. You just say it every time you see it. We've been using the wheel for Friday night movie night, spinning it for like,
Starting point is 01:07:57 oh, really? Movies on there. That's fun. So we watch Davey Crockett. last week. Lane on Davey. Davey. Timon,
Starting point is 01:08:05 you've been watching anything lately? Dude, not really. Chick-fil-A training videos, I assume? Mainly that, yeah. And they don't, yeah, I keep asking them to add it to letterbox and they're like, no, it's not a movie.
Starting point is 01:08:18 Close enough. It's a film. I haven't been watching much. I'm trying to think of even the last thing I watched. Watched, well, the only movie I've watched recently on the way to Gulf Shore is currently inglorious.
Starting point is 01:08:33 Oh, yeah. A word. It was it. Yeah. Gorelam. Hextords. Yeah. Dude.
Starting point is 01:08:38 Oh, so good. Crazy movie. Really? I never seen it. That first scene is awesome. Oh my gosh. There's so many. There's like probably four scenes in it that's just like 10 minutes of just talking.
Starting point is 01:08:48 And I'm like on the edge of my seat. It's crazy. The one where they have the standoff in the bar. Like the bunker. Yeah. Oh. So good. Dude.
Starting point is 01:08:56 Yeah. Have you seen many other Tarantino movies? The only one I've seen. I'm like, I got to watch more of this guy's stuff. So that'd be wild to be like, holy cow, I didn't expect this to happen. Yeah. Yeah. You know about Tarantino, Jake?
Starting point is 01:09:09 Like, he's just like gratuitously violent. Yeah, I was like, whoa, this is gruesome. I did not know to expect that. We went and saw once upon a time in Hollywood, Jake, you and me. Yeah. I didn't really care for that movie. I didn't love it either. I did like Django.
Starting point is 01:09:24 Yeah. That's the one I probably would watch next of his. That's what I hear good things about. Yeah. Yeah. Django's good. Trying to think of his other ones. I feel like there's one other one that I really like a lot.
Starting point is 01:09:36 I remember first hearing about him with Kill Bill. Yep, never seen those. I was always very confused about what that movie was. Pulp Fiction is fine. I think that one's, it feels like one of the ones that's like, if you're a film guy, you say you like that one,
Starting point is 01:09:48 but I'm like, do you actually like it? There's too many movies like that. Or it's like, do you just like this because it's Quentin Tarantino and he's supposed to be really good? Reservoir Dogs is his first one, I think. At least the first big one.
Starting point is 01:10:01 I shouldn't be talking movies. Like, I know what I'm talking about. Hey, it sounds good to me. Yeah. Yeah. That's about it. It's been a long time. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:10:13 Okay. Inglorious, though. You watched it on the way to go. Oh, you're watching the, on the plane. Actually had to stop it, which that was like, I just want to finish this movie.
Starting point is 01:10:20 I watched like most of it on the way, and then I had to finish on the way back. So I had a good week and a half break of like, how was this going to end? And it crazy ending. It feels like airlines should be like, hey, like let you download it almost. Like you can finish this when you get home.
Starting point is 01:10:38 Yeah, well, I had it, I had it like downloaded. And so I could have it. You just didn't take the time. Didn't do it. You were too, you were too, you were too. I was just too present, too present in the moment at Gulf Wars. Yeah. Thanks for that.
Starting point is 01:10:52 Yeah. Needed that. Yeah. All right, boys. Should you do our rear of the week? Got a good one. Oh yeah. that I'm looking at right now.
Starting point is 01:11:01 What's I say? It says this from Micah 72. Five stars, my favorite show, and why. I've left a review before, even on this account. My old one's gone. But I feel like I need to change this review to show why I genuinely liked this podcast. Last week, I dislocated my patella.
Starting point is 01:11:20 That's a fancy word for kneecap. I spent the night in the hospital, and they did an x-ray. They found I fractured it. I felt hopeless. I am an aspiring videographer. making social media for my church and highlight videos for my high school football team. I take four college classes and two high school ones.
Starting point is 01:11:37 I'm working at Chick-fil-A. That hardly scratches the surface of what's coming up in these upcoming weeks. And I lost all of that because I'm on crutches for the next six weeks. When I get home, I pulled out my phone and hit play. I've been listing from the start. It was on an episode about the Coke versus Pepsi taste test that was also Tymond's infamous horses pick. I've been listening to you guys more than ever,
Starting point is 01:12:01 even watching jean shorts. I resonate with the Shelter Kid videos. I find comfort in having two guys. Well, three guys. Got you, Tyman. I've never felt like my... I find comfort in having two guys that I've never met,
Starting point is 01:12:17 feel like my genuine friends. I feel like I know more about them than some people I've met personally, and they're helping me through this time. With that, there's only one thing to say, Rindle Weaver. Thank you, Micah. Thank you, Mike.
Starting point is 01:12:28 Good review. Very earnest Hemingway style of writing. I don't know his style. Short sins, period. Short sentence, period. I like it. It's great. Straight to the point.
Starting point is 01:12:40 Yeah. I don't know, tell me a Hemingway book, just so I can have one for a Jeopardy. I think it was Kill Bill Volume 2. Yeah. Was it? Okay.
Starting point is 01:12:50 No, honestly he don't know. I would have to look it up. Did he write a book about something about the sea or the ocean? And Odyssey. A man. Odyssey. Oh, the Odyssey. Somebody else.
Starting point is 01:12:59 That was it. Odyssey. He wrote the message version of that. Man in the Sea or something. I'm thinking of Dickens for all the things I can think of. The Old Man in the Sea. Yeah. Boom.
Starting point is 01:13:10 I think I read that for a writing class back in the day or something. You don't read for writing time. And that's a dumb class. You're right. Yeah. I didn't. It was blurred. It didn't happen.
Starting point is 01:13:19 GR listener 247 is the name of this. I mean, they made this. They must have made this username just. to review us, which is so cool. Wow. Five-star review. Louisville is not great. I saw this one.
Starting point is 01:13:33 This is just great because it's four weeks ago, aka before Teddy was born. You were right about Louisville. I've been here the last couple of months with my baby in the NICU. Where my NICU's at! Yeah, a couple of NICUs over here. The hospital's awesome,
Starting point is 01:13:47 and our baby's doing great. The city's not the best. For example, I saw a woman urinating on the sidewalk in broad daylight downtown. Okay. But then they said five-star. So, Brad, your neighbor takes a trip to Louisville over once in a while. Sounds like.
Starting point is 01:14:02 Oh, I was like, what name? Yeah. Louisville's got some truck space. Saw an old lady in a full diaper. Oh, gosh. Beverly? It was gross. It was gross.
Starting point is 01:14:13 It was so gross. What is the, uh, white diaper? It was kind of like tanish. Oh. The Nate Bargazzi. Oh, it's Olivia where he gets called Olivia. And they don't know if he's a man or a woman. This is kind of funny.
Starting point is 01:14:26 I think I told you when Bo got his appendix out and they were like waking him up. Did you hear about this? Or like they were in the room. Yeah, he loves. That's like his two truths and a lie. He loves using that one for his two truths in the lie. My dad almost got struck by lightning.
Starting point is 01:14:42 My dad almost got shocked by lightning. They were both lies because he did. It wasn't almost. But do you remember I said like they were in like the waiting or like the recovery room and he was waking up and there was somebody like also there like separated by a screen or whatever and the nurse
Starting point is 01:15:03 in order to like shock this person to waking up was like Sylvia Sylvia you're waking up from surgery Sylvia breathe Sylvia and it's like midnight you know it's like super late at night and Catherine's trying to like stroke Bo's head like being kind and so they they would go Bo you're waking up from surgery
Starting point is 01:15:20 and for whatever reason Rosie thinks it's hilarious And so Rosie will just, out of nowhere to be like, Bo, you might not have up so much. And Bo does not think it's funny at all. And just like, stop. It's what funny? Bo, you're waking up on surgery. Just like walks around saying it.
Starting point is 01:15:42 So anyway, I don't know what made me think of that, but something. That's great. When a younger sister finds something to pick on an older brother, you got to run with it. And Rosie just, yeah, just saying it's so confident. you walk, Bob, you're waking up of surgery. That is so funny. I got to give a shout to Bo. Bo's been a good older brother this past, you know, however many weeks.
Starting point is 01:16:09 Just the other day, Rosie and Bo both got a pencil at church on the bus. You know, they give out donuts or pencils. Guess which one Catherine lets them have everyone. I have a pencil. And Rosie lost hers. And Bo goes, Rosie, you can have mine. And I was like, that is the simplest. yet best awesome move ever. Thank you, Bo. So that's cool.
Starting point is 01:16:29 You're learning. Yeah. You're getting it. Oh, yes. Yes, you're growing up. You're being a little bit selfless sometimes. Awesome. How old is he now? Six. Is that, I know Haddy's always been perfect, but did you notice a change in her when she kind of got to that age? Uh, yeah. I mean, kind of. I mean, yeah, I feel like all my kids so far have been the hardest at age four. That's been the hardest year for us. Terrible. Terrible fours. Foreignagers is what they say. Yeah, but yeah, they were all hard then. But like, we just kept going. Like, all of them so far, it's been like, what are we going to do about fill in the blank?
Starting point is 01:17:12 What are we going to do about Hattie? Like, this is so hard. And then all of a sudden they snap out of it. And it's like, oh, they were listening to us. It just took that long until they were five to finally kind of stop. You got to use the diaper to make them first to white. Yeah, dude, yesterday. Oh, there's another fun kid story. Is, eh, never mind. I'll tell there.
Starting point is 01:17:35 Tell there. Can't tell it now. Can't wait. Yeah. I'm feeling who it involves. And I can't wait for you. Tell me later. Who?
Starting point is 01:17:48 Addie. Oh. Here we out. Rosie. POM POM Hey Palm All right
Starting point is 01:18:03 Anything else Closing thoughts Diamond what do you got Man I got a whole I got nothing I just was excited to hear Brad's story But I guess we can't do that so You guys want to sing together
Starting point is 01:18:14 I know you're in completely different parts of the house Maybe that's too much Come over here time Two men and one mic Great how do we do that with headphones I'm kind of warm right now So I bet I'm radiating some heat So come on over here
Starting point is 01:18:24 And let's radiate Let's do it. Timon, why do you have one sock on? I have a band-aid on one of my toes, and it needed to breathe a little bit. Band-aid on the toe? Band-a-on-toe, Jake says? All right, let's sing about band-aids on the toe.
